oh yeah ive finally made an honest to god anime fan out of my dad. turns out hes like me and can slam back 12 episodes in a day 😌 whereas skerples can usually only watch like 3 or 4. anyway he started trigun 98 today and like he only had time to watch 1 ep before leaving but yay :)

edit. realized i've probably never talked about this but this is a big deal for me bc i've been trying to get him into anime for over a decade since he first saw me watching trigun 98 in the living room with my bf at the time and would get entranced and watch chunks of the episodes standing in the doorway but always maintain he just "didn't like anime" bc he didn't "like the artstyle" and go on about how the only good anime he's ever seen was afro samurai and after a lot of pressure i've finally convinced him to watch a few recently (i made him watch the twewy anime with my for my birthday last year, + got him to watch dr. stone bc he really likes engineering and stuff so i thought he'd like it), and he's watched bits and pieces of a few others recently, bc he's been getting sick at night and when me n skerples are watching stuff he'll sit and kinda watch with us. recently he decided on his own to watch demon slayer and LOVED it, and as he was finishing s1 he was like "well. i think i'm an anime fan now. i really want to find more good ones. i'm thinking about trigun next" <3

so I HAVE a healing potion 1.0 and I actually like it a lot more than I expected to, BUT... it is made with xtabentun, which poses multiple possible challenges

1: xtabentun is an anise liqueur made from honey; it's unusually viscous and very sweet, which I think could be good for what I'm going for, but the anise gives it a distinct black licorice vibe. I don't mind this, myself, but I know that's a hard no for a lot of people and I don't want my silly little alcohol I invented for my friends for fun to loop all the way around to yucky. The good news is it plays nicely with the bitters and chambord, the latter of which definitely mellows the licoricey flavor, but it's still present. But I mean, on the other hand, I'm designing shots, and people do shots of jäger, so idk that this would be a deal breaker even if it IS too strongly flavored for people to want to sit and enjoy

2: I don't actually know if xtabentun is a thing I can like. just. buy more of?? the bottle I have was given to me by a couple who bought it in mexico on a cruise like 20 years ago or something; it's available in the states in general, but afaik I can't have alcohols shipped in my state, so unless the megabev carries it I just have the one bottle, and it may be tricky for others to get ahold of if I wanna share the recipe

3: getting way ahead of myself with this one but this recipe is now just two liqueurs and some bitters, and if I want to try a barrel-aged version I dunno if the sugar content is gonna be an issue there or what (not to mention how am I supposed to get enough of the ingredients to make enough to FILL a barrel)

#I can try other honey liqueurs but this is the one I already have #I asked justin what HE thought healing potions taste like and he said 1) unexpectedly viscous and 2) he imagines them being cherry flavored #so I think if the finished recipe gives some people a cough syrup vibe or just an 'ew yucky' response that's probably still apropos lmao #FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH I thought it was quite nice! I actually thought mixing chambord and xtabentun was gonna be gross but I was wrong #I wonder if up-proofing it with rum would be good 🤔 #starts to be a pain in the ass to mix in single servings if there's too many ingredients #but my idea was to make it in batches and then separate out into potion bottles for serving anyway so #the important thing is it IS definitely red #about me #recipe #reference #potions

#vee queued to fill the void #i’m trying to put together a look at kuukou’s various symbols on his outerwear for a post and was mildly surprised lol #like kuukou’s colours are muted and that’s obvious from the moment you see his entire fit yeah #but it completely flew over my head that kuukou’s shachihoko changed since it’s one of the few aspects of kuukou’s attire that carried over #lol we back to kuukou analysing in the tags this is great lmao so i was thinking #i haven’t gotten around to posting it but one of kuukou’s lines for new years in arb is him stressing to stay healthy #like he even says not to overdo it!!!!!! #i always wondered what aspect of smoking & drinking kuukou doesn’t like and it seems to be pointing to the body/mind ruining aspect #(tho to be that aware of it is still hmmmmm lol 🤔) #real gold should never have to be polished and usually withstands the elements quite fine but copper!!!! #turns green under prolonged exposure to water air etc and that’s what happened to kuukou’s speakers like it’s an oxidised copper dragon lol #so we have a kuukou who has gone from bright colours and golds to a kuukou in darks and copper a less resilient metal #best case scenario it’s just symbolic of kuukou’s experiences!!!! like his speaker is of a dragon that has been exposed and weathered a lot #but is still going strong kicking ass taking names lol #worst case scenario i think is that it’s a 🚩 🚩🚩that kuukou’s being weathered down by something and not in a good way #nodders yup yup yup we back to worrying about kuukou starting off his year STRONG lmao
