What would be Sunburst's role in the AU, if any at all?

So I actually designed Sunburst already and made up a backstory for him and Starlight! Here’s the first explorations I did of him. I did try drawing him with the cute wizard beard, but a mustache was just more period appropriate and I had to take some liberties. The inspiration board included Harvey from Stardew Valley, Milo Thatch from Atlantis, and Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beasts.

I rewatched “The Parent Map”, and was disappointed by the way that the show failed to explore how Starlight and Sunburst’s parental figures affected their trauma and future relationships. (In general I think Starlight and Sunburst are severely underutilized.) Instead of their families being well-meaning socialites like in the series, they’re members of the Italian-American mob. Starlight and Sunburst have a lot more baggage in the AU as a result.

For Starlight’s father, instead of him being just a silly dad that coddles her too much, I figured it would make more sense if he was far more controlling of her life. It would explain her obsessive need for control and why she has so much trouble handling friendships in the future. Rather than the cutie mark cult, I made her an innkeeper that operates an underground speakeasy. @bixels suggested making her a loan shark as well.

Sunburst is still magically and intellectually gifted, but I scrapped the magic school dropout thing. My idea for his backstory is that he was a golden child that couldn’t take the pressure of being in the mob, so he was disowned by his mother. Him having to leave without a choice makes more sense to me as to why the event was so traumatic to Starlight, as Sunburst was her only friend. In the AU he works as a linguist and magical historian.

I sorta just made these up as my own responses to what I don’t like about their arcs and backstories in the series, while also taking the era into account. Starlight’s motive for her villainous actions in the show is honestly too ridiculous for me and it needs more details, and Sunburst is given practically no backstory.

JJK Men As Your bf Featuring Itadori Yuji

Itadori Yuji as a boyfriend

-Yuuji is definitely the sweetest boyfriend you could have. He's very affectionate and he never fails to reassure you that he loves you so much. This reassurance from your boyfriend helps you overcome your insecurities and lessen the jealousy in you.

-Loves cuddling, he always tell you that it's cold but that's just an excuse. This cutie pie will always insist that he needs to cuddle with you because it's cold even if it's not. He just wants to keep you close, it helps him relax because to him cuddling you means protecting you.

-He would cook for you. If you're living in the same flat, you will only cook occasionally because he will treat you like a princess and won't let you cook for him unless you insist. He says he enjoys cooking because he wanted your stomach to be filled with what he cook with love. He will pack your lunch and trust me, he will buy different lunch boxes for every day of the week. He will arrange it cutely and your classmates will be so jealous of how neatly done your lunch is. It's not just aesthetically pleasing, the taste also exceeds expectations.

-Loves kissing your lips but he'll be kissing your forehead much often. I can already see Yuji as a guy who would only kiss your lips in a very intimate setting. Even if he's into PDA, he still sets boundaries because he doesn't want to embarrass you in public. He prefers kissing your forehead in public, or the tip of your nose, and if there's a man nearby obviously admiring his girl, that's the only time where he would bravely kiss you in public. But even so, he will still whisper to you asking if he can kiss you on your lips in public. He never would do that if you say no.

-Yuji can be forgetful but he makes sure to organize his schedule to not forget important events with you. He has everything marked in his calendar, from your monthsarry, anniversary, your period, your exams, and everything else. He loves to check your schedule that you keep and sync it on his so he would know when he would pick you up.

-The type of guy that you can drag in nail salons and he'll get his pretty nails done as well uwu. Yuji loves seeing you get your nails done, he loves seeing your nais colored and seeing tiny patterns and arts on it. He wouldn't stop admiring your nails, he'll hold your hand and kiss every finger and tell you how much he loves it. Sometimes your tight schedule forbids you from having your nails done. Yuji keeps track on when you would usually get your nails done. (He has it marked in his calendar, like "28th of the month is my princess' nail care day") so when you don't mention anything about nails on that day, Yuji will do your nails for you (sort of) since he's not a pro, he would buy press on nails with different designs and put them on for you.

Yuji woke up early on Sunday morning. He noticed that you were already out of bed so he immediately took his phone under his pillow and exit the room to look for you. He opened his phone and saw a reminder for today. "My Princess' Nail Care Day" says the notification on his phone. Yuji panicked and looked around just to see you in front of your laptop at the living room. You were sipping your coffee and your eyes were fixed on your screen, you couldn't even glance up at Yuji who sat down beside you at the sofa.

"Good morning, beautiful."

Yuji kissed your cheeks as he looked at what you were doing on your laptop. You stopped typing for a moment and gave him a peck on his cheek before typing once again. "Good morning, handsome. Why're you up so early?" you asked, Yuji placed his arms around you and let his eyes roam on the laptop screen. You were creating a power point presentation about a certain genre in literature. "You weren't beside me so what's the point of sleeping. Plus, it's nail care day today isn't it? What time is your appointment?" he asked.

He stood up and made his way to the kitchen as he waits for your response.

"Babe, Nail care day is cancelled. There's too much stuffs we need to do. There was a last minute change in our report and I got to fix it. Plus, I'll be at Nobara's place for another homework. I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you last night." You knew that Yuji loves accompanying you to the Nail Salon but there are times like this where school deadlines are pain in the ass. "Maybe we can squeeze it in on Tuesday, love. I'm sorry." you apologized, you closed your laptop and moved to the dining table where Yuji is making his coffee. You were pouting up at him and he smiled.

"Hey, it's nothing. No need to say sorry, I know how tough it is. Want me to help? I can type your contents on your presentation, you can do other stuffs. Just send me the things needed to be there, and you can check if I did it right or nah." He sat beside you and look over at your laptop as he sips onto his coffee. As a boyfriend, Yuji wants to always lend you a hand whenever he can, to him, it's a huge deal to share problems, works and other worries with his partner, he wanted to let you know that whatever it is, you can count on him.

You smiled and kissed him on his cheeks. "Aww, you're the best babe! I'll send the written report to you, I'll take a shower before I go straight to Nobara's flat. I'll probably back after lunch. Is it okay for you?" you asked as you take one last sip on your coffee. You're so thankful that you have a reliable boyfriend like Yuji. He's the best boyfriend ever.

Yuji nods, "Alright, I'll cook breakfast so you could eat before you go. Want me to cook you lunch too?" he asked as he follows you to the bedroom.

"Babe…" you looked at him with teary eyes, Yuji frowned and held your hand gently. "What's wrong? Is there a problem?" he asked, concerned.

You shook your head and hugged him tight, letting yourself inhale his sweet scent. "No, you're just too..sweet. I don't deserve you." you sniffed as you feel him chuckle. Yuji really gives you the princess treatment and that's not an exaggeration, and you wanted to do the same for him but when he's like this you really feel like you don't deserve this kind of love, because he's just too reliable, he's always there and sometimes you feel bad, thinking that you're not giving the same thing that he's giving in this relationship.

Yuji gently pulled away from you and tucked your hair behind your ear. "You deserve every great things in this world. I love you, hmm? We're partners, alright? Whatever you do, I should do my best to be a part of it." he smiled, cupping your face and kissing you softly.

"You go and take a shower. I'll drop you at Nobara's." he kissed you once more and took his laptop to work on your power point.

You weren't able to go home after lunch. When you checked your phone it was already 6 pm and even if you texted Yuji to tell him you won't be home at the hour your promised, you still felt bad. The two of you weren't able to spend much time together yesterday, because he was the one busy with his classmates, he was at Megumi's place till 7 and when he got home he looks tired so y'all went to bed early and now it's already 6 and there's not much time left to do some fun stuffs for the weekend.

"I'm home, babe." you announced as you open the door of your apartment. The living room was empty but it wasn't long till Yuji appears from the bedroom, he rushed to help you out of your shoes and gave you a tight hug and a kiss on your forehead, it's something that he always does when you just arrived home, "You should've called, I was gonna pick you up." he said as he took your bag from you and set it on the center table.

"Phone's dead on my way home. I just took a cab."

"You look tired, come, I cooked something for you. I also finished your presentation and I went to Fushiguro's house to borrow some books, I got two that is related to your presentation, you can check it and see if something's useful. I already had the page marked."

Yuji took advantage of his free time to think of ways to help you and make you relax when you get home. He wanted you to feel relieved at home and not worry much about stuffs.

Upon hearing his efforts, you charged yourself on your boyfriend, Yuji caught you because of his quick reflexes and you buried your face in his neck, "I love you so much, Yuji." you whispered. Yuji blushed, part of him is thankful you're not seeing what he looks like right now, because he's sure he's as pink as his hair.

"I love you too, princess." he whispered as he gently set you down.

After eating dinner, Yuji helped you clean your make up and you've decided to watch a movie while cuddling at the living room before you go to bed. You set up the movie and the snacks while Yuji was at the room looking for something.

"Babe, movie's ready!" you called excitingly.

Yuji was busy looking for the bag full of pressed on nails that he bought earlier. He figured that he's gonna put them on you so you can still feel like you had your nails done. He went out of the bedroom holding the paper bag behind him as he walks towards you.

"Hey, I paused the movie for y--What's that? What're you hiding?" you asked, trying to peek at what he has behind him but he laughed and avoid your attempts to peek. "Sit down, baby. I'll let you see if you behave." he said in a serious tone, you sat down properly and wait for him to show you what is it.

Yuji showed you the paper bag first, and you frowned. "Ahm okay, what is it?" you asked. Yuji handed it to you with a smile. "Take a look." he smiled.

When you opened the bag, your jaw dropped. The bag was full of pressed on nails and the colors, the designs and the shapes are all pretty. Man, you can't count how many they are. "Holy, babe, these are so pretty! OMG!" you squealed and hugged him tightly. Yuji hugged you back and took the bag from you.

"I bought it so you'd still feel like you got your nails done. And I'll put it on for you. Before your class, tomorrow. So you can choose a design and we'll have it on your nails tomorrow." he whispered, pinching your cheeks as he sat beside you.

You checked each pack inside the bag and every pack that you see makes you realize how much care Yuji has put in choosing the designs, he got the right design and colors that you loved and all you could so is pepper his face with kisses all night because he deserves it for being the good boyfriend that he is.

My Mane Six redesigns!

First- suggested by friends, was Fluttershy!

A gentle reindeer, she prefers spending her time with her animals- No matter how she feels. Recently, she had to get a prosthetic leg after an infection, but she still trudges on! Her top wing feather on her left side is a donated feather from her friends.

Next is the lovely boutique owner, Rarity!

A kirin of fashion, she spends her days designing outfits and treating her friends with all the care in the world. She was born blind in one eye, but prefers to accent it with a monocle. Underneath her facade, she holds a dark secret that she never wants to tell her friends about... But she doesn't need to worry about it at this time! Her silky mane seems to not reflect light, matte and beautiful.

Then came Pinkie Pie!

A changeling of vibrancy and colors, she struggled to communicate with the hive and eventually gave up... at this time, she also found herself stuck in a half shifted form. In love with games and parties, she painted on her own cutie mark since she could never have one naturally.

Faster than the flash, Rainbow Dash came into view!

A colorful griffin with piercings galore, Rainbow Dash joined the odd bunch of friends as their "Inspirational coach", and uses her quick wings in order to scout ahead on their adventures! She donated one of her fallen feathers to Fluttershy.

Kicking her way through the Orchard, Apple Jack comes with snacks!

A strong and powerful Clydesdale, She uses her brawns whenever the team is in need of help! Of course, she's in tune with her friends, and her wits are as powerful as her strength. Apple Jack is double jointed, and sometimes needs a little break for her joints.

And as the sun sets, Twilight Sparkle joins the rest of her friends.

A bizarre Draconequus, Twilight is awkward at best when she isn't with her friends. A charm resides around her neck, one that she fiddles with often- Said charm also allows her to show her cutie mark! Twilight Sparkle's hide reacts to ink, so she color matches new inks to match her accents.

So, that's my mane six redesigns! Please stay tuned, as I might redesign the princesses as well!- Except for Twilight.

Pie's family redesigns + Family tree

Maud "Slate" Pie + Mudbriar "Walnut"

Maud "Slate" Pie I've kept Maud mostly the same all over, her pallet and color scheme are already good in my taste. She now has spots to match Pinkie but also as a hint to her special talent, as I wanted it to look like an opened geode. I didn't like that her cutie mark was only just a rock, it didn't say a single thing about her special talent. Now it says a bit more, showing off that she can find true beauty under what others might just see as a rock.

She wears her normal dress, as I didn't see a reason to change it. I've however added a small bracelet, which has different beads, to represent her sisters. As she might not show or say it much but she loves them all dearly.

Mudbriar "Walnut" I've darkened his pallet a little, more so his overall design didn't end up too light or dark. I've given him cloven hooves and a long tail, as I see him from a family of mixed unicorn and earth ponies. His markings are like branches/roots of trees, showing his connection to the trees. Same story for his cutie mark as Maud's, it was too simple for what his special talent is. So I've added a book but it's standing by its opening, as a small hint to tents, as he travels to examine trees, learning about as many as he can and writing it down for others to read.

Mudbriar now wears a travel backpack, which is for his travels. He doesn't wear much else, as he doesn't see the need to.

Gilda "Glory" + "Shady" Limestone Pie

Gilda"Glory" I've darkened her whole pallet and added some markings. As she's a mountain lion + tiger in this AU. Her design hasn't been changed much, I've added some jewelry but not much else.

"Shady"Limestone Pie Limestone's pallet is mostly the same, its his patterns that darken his look. Lime is trans in my AU, as his anger issues were caused by him not feeling whole/as he should be. His cutie mark has been changed to a broken opened geode, with lime-green stone, which resembles a lime.

He has a few pricings and wears a his band's t-shirt, which says ROAD KILL, Gilda also has one but she mostly wears it to his concerts, showing her support.

Trouble Shoes + Marble "Droplet" Pie

Trouble Shoes I've made Trouble Shoes slightly darker and added a few lighter strips to his mane and tail. He also now has a beard, which to those who don't know him, makes him look even more scary than before. For his cutie mark I wanted something more than just "bad luck". He of course still struggled to find out what he was meant to do, as he thought the clown nose and wig was some cruel joke the world did to him.

As for his clothing, I went with a nice jacket, kept his hat and his weeding ring.

Marble"Droplet"Pie Marble's pallet has mostly stayed the same, only receiving slight changes and the usual markings that come along with my redesigns. Her cutie mark now shows off how well she makes jewelry with the beautiful gems they find in Appleloosa. To me, her cutie mark never told a single thing about what she was to do, it said marble but what else? So now, she's a crystal collector and seller.

The clothing she wears is a simple shawl, her weeding ring, a few earrings, a few flowers from her middle oldest son, a sun anklet to represent her oldest son and a small bat wing hair tie to represent her youngest son.

Interested to know why your Twilight redesign is a blank flank! If you don't mind sharing would you be able to tell us please? Also her design looks awesome^^.

THANK YOUUUU I always thought twilights design needed more contrast colours and I think the peppermint coloured hair would be really iconic and cute. about her being a blank flank- still not having your cutie mark in adulthood is super uncommon in the canon of the series and i feel like it would be interesting for twilight as the main character to be an adult who still doesnt know what her passion is meant to be! I feel like it could be a good way to introduce the concept of cutie marks to kids who would just be starting the show (and presumably have no idea what they are) and I think it would be really cute if the first season ended with Twilight discovering her cutie mark with her newly found friends (and pinkie pie gets to hold a cutie mark party for her).

How do you pick out colour pallets for your characters? (Specifically the Mane 6 human designs) they're so good!!

I'll stick to the Mane 6 so far.

I paired everyone up first so I can design their colors as duos: Rainbow Dash + Fluttershy, Rarity + AJ, Pinkie + Twilight.

Rainbow and Fluttershy are noisy vs. quiet (visually).

Rainbow Dash obviously needs to be super colorful, but I couldn't go total blow-out rainbow with her, which isn't the goal of the design challenge. To stick to the era, I gave her scarf tie and pants colorful but natural dyed-thread colors: teal, orange, pink, green, and red. The vest, on the other hand, was given the bright primary colors of her rainbow-lightning-bolt cutie mark (the diamond patterns are meant to look like a bolt or explosion). Each character gets an accent color too for shadows, and I gave Rainbow a deep purple to make her skintone pop as much as possible.

Fluttershy's the opposite. I designed her palette to be duochromatic: just rose pink and yellow, with a hint of mint green. All her colors are very desaturated as well, though the yellow clothes help her stand out. Unlike Rainbow, any ornaments in dress come in small places, like lace edges, small butterfly patterns, bows, and earrings, as I feel Fluttershy would still enjoy accessorizing.

Rarity and AJ are cold vs. hot (visually, again).

Rarity's given very artificial, unnatural colors to give an impression of wealth and status. I decided to go with a deep blue rather than purple so she doesn't get mixed with Twilight's palette. I also kept her mostly monochromatic to give the sense of neatness and grace. Her palette is simple enough: pink skin, blue clothes, teal accents. Variations come in the clothing itself: patterns, accessories, fur linings, buttons, etc.

AJ, on the other hand, is given very earthy, warm tones. I actually referenced Minecraft terracotta blocks when designing her.

I made green her primary color since no other character carries it. The red and green's meant to make her look a bit like an apple. Weird note, but I'm really proud of the dark teal in her jeans. It looks great against the orange of her chaps. AJ's palette was surprisingly hard to pin down, as I was afraid the yellow/orange skin-tone, hat, and hair would muddy her face. Had to fiddle with it a lot to get it where I want (oftentimes, the green would make her look like a park ranger), but throwing in a blue shadow accent really helped pull everything together.

Haven't gotten to the last two yet, but Pinkie's is definitely going to be crazy and bright. Here's a sneak peak of it, actually:

ok so let me be cringe on main for a minute here (this is a joke btw i know cringe isn't real). odd squad mlp au for your consideration

please ask me questions about this by the way i have so much for this. i'll put some of the basic info (it's a lot more than that now but in my defense it started as a basic summary) and a few more drawings under the cut though please look at it with your eyes thank you

so for some basic explanations we have Olive who is a unicorn, Otto who is a pegasus, Olympia who is a part unicorn earth pony (which i'll explain in a sec), and Otis who is a full blooded pegasus (which i'll also explain the importance of in a moment). i haven't drawn Ms. O, Oscar or Oona yet but they are an alicorn (formerly an earth pony), a unicorn, and an earth pony respectively

Olive and Otto are the only two that i've come up with cutie mark designs for so far (they are so hard to design..) but Olympia and Otis have them too, they just get them mid-season. specifically after the talent show. i'm designing them side by side so that they kinda match because they get them at the same time and also they're besties your honor, but anyways theirs are a little fireworks design and some sort of a swan design because y'know. the ugly duckling story. and also i think part of his talent is dancing and like swan lake exists etc etc. and yes this does mean that he's a little bit scared of his own cutie mark at times but he just tries not to think about it and usually covers it with his wings anyway. all four of their cutie mark meanings are kinda abstract personality trait related things

Olive got hers after stopping the pienado because character development moments, which also kinda means that she's sorta tied to Todd because of this which she Does Not Like. i'll need to make a whole other post about Todd in this au because he's definitely a guy, but anyways while they were partners Olive was a blank flank and despite how good at his job he was Todd was one too and it was like one of the only things they really had in common, but it also ends up being one of the reasons he goes rogue because not only is Todd bored but he's also frustrated because he's tried everything he can think of and won every award he possibly can and he still doesn't have a cutie mark even though he feels like he definitely should by now because this has to be his talent. why would he be so good at it if it wasn't? he doesn't get his cutie mark until after he reforms btw, because before then he was either too certain about his talent being something else or too busy causing trouble to entertain himself that he never really took the time to stop and discover that his actual interest was gardening and that's when he finally gets his cutie mark. in my head i have this alternate version of Otis's tomato speech where when Todd is like "i'm Odd Todd it's who i am" Otis is just like "that's not what your cutie mark says" and it's very silly but anyways i'm gonna circle this back around to Olive real quick

so on top of Todd's cutie mark being in gardening he also has a sort of side meaning as well in the sense that he's a little bit like the CMC and has a sort of knack for encouraging character growth in others whether he realizes it or not because. encouraging plants to grow.. encouraging people to grow... the whole villain rehab thing...... you see what i'm getting at here. but the funny thing is the first pony he really did this to was Olive and it was completely unintentional. he didn't know that she would get her cutie mark by stopping him, at least not consciously, but she did. it probably takes him quite some time before he actually puts together the fact that he's had that talent the whole time.

Otto's cutie mark is a lot sillier. he actually doesn't know how he got it or what it means (as mentioned earlier it's symbolic but he doesn't know that. also shoutout to Shroom aka Evillandscaper for suggesting a paper crane because i did NOT know what i was gonna make it) he just kinda walked into work one day and Olive was like "oh cool you got your cutie mark?" and Otto was just like "WAIT I GOT MY CUTIE MARK?????" cue a whole silly filler episode involving the two of them trying to figure out what it means and also Olive having a crisis over the fact that Otto can do that pegasus thing where they use their wings like cartoon hands. both of these become running bits from then on. also i drew this comic about it and it might be one of my favorite things i've made for this au honestly

and on the topic of cutie marks as i previously mentioned, Olympia and Otis both get theirs after the talent show and they're also matching a little bit. theirs are also personality things but in addition to that Otis's is also for dancing and Olympia's is for magic, and you may be wondering how an earth pony can be a magic talent and this is where that half unicorn thing comes in!

so Olympia is half unicorn half earth pony which i don't think is too uncommon on its own, but the thing that makes her weird is that she inherited traits from both sides instead of just one over the other, so she actually has unicorn magic but no horn to actually use it with so she's unable to cast actual spells or anything but her magic will kinda spill over at times, especially if she's emotional, and cause things to happen like that one time she exploded into glitter when interviewing Olive or of course the fireworks! she's kind of like the Pinkie Pie character who just does unexplained things sometimes she's just very silly. fun fact in her ref you can see that her mane and tail are sparkly and that's because they kinda just perpetually look like they have glitter in them, but the thing is it's not really glitter it's all just magic. i imagine her coat is like this as well but i just didn't draw it in

also as a side note it came to my attention that she bears an uncanny similarity to Sparkleworks from G3 and i have absolutely no idea how that happened At All. like they have the same cutie mark and everything it's so weird. i've never even watched G3 i'm a G4 kid i legitimately have no clue how the hell this happened. i did make this out of it though

anyways for Otis, he's a pegasus of course but he's specifically a Cloudsdale weather pegasus, which yes i did make up but hear me out. so basically in my mind pegasi born in somewhere like Cloudsdale are more likely to have weather talents or like. stronger abilities in controlling the weather and such, which means stuff like larger wings and weatherproof wings and feathers to make it easier to deal with storms and stuff like that, so basically all this is just an excuse for me to give Otis waterproof feathers like a duck. but anyways since he was still raised by the ducks he doesn't actually know he's from Cloudsdale or anything so he just thinks he's weird for the feathers thing

okay i have. way more but i'm cutting myself off here so i don't overload everyone with information but anyways, please ask me about them, and also here's some extra drawings i've done of them :3

Ok if I was doing a mlp au for the owl house, this is how it would go:

Humans are earth ponies. All witches are unicorns. Once they get their Palismen, those can transform into wings and detransform as needed. (Just like them becoming the brooms.)

All the covens are cutie marks being branded on to them to replace their original ones. The emperors covenants still lose their palismen, and to fly they get mechanical wings (just like the emperor and golden guard’s staff)

Hunter still can’t do magic but appears to be a unicorn.

King can be a dragon if I figure out how to design him to look like one without losing his character. I mean, he already looks like spike a lot

I have some headcanons for the MLP x AC crossover!

I think for the MLP x AC crossover, Desmond would be an alicorn like the princess ponies. I could see him with flowy hair like Celestia and with a similar cutie mark.

I could see Altaïr and Ezio being pegasus ponies with eagle wings. Altaïr would have a Hidden Blade or a book as his cutie mark because he searches for knowledge. Ezio would have the Auditore crest or an Eagle because of his loyalty to family.

I could see pony! Ezio, Altaïr, and Desmond having to team up to defeat Discord, who is likely the offspring of the Isu.

What's your opinion on these ideas?

The initial My Little Pony AU idea (well, Desmond's initial pony design anyway) for those curious.

I was thinking “yeah, I can’t draw that many ponies XD” and I remember I actually knew someone who could.

So here’s @scrysthea’s work based on nonny’s and my ideas.

I included Ratonhnhaké:ton because if we’re going to make them ponies, let’s give the ‘complete set’ (sorry, Edward.)

I kinda like the idea that Desmond is a successor to their ‘ruler’ (whether this ruler is Amunet or an unknown pony is up to you) but he doesn’t like being the successor because everyone expect too much of him.

Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton are his childhood friends turned guards so there’s a bit of conflict there. Like, Desmond has been with them for so long that he trusts them fully but the countless times other ponies had seen him as not living up to the high standards they expect from a successor had shattered his self-esteem. He tries to hide it by smiling and ignoring it but there’s always a whisper in his mind that questions if they care for him because they like him or his ‘failures’ had made them think of him as more of a burden that needs to be protected because it’s their duty.

Of course, that could be farther from the truth and they had been the one to insist that they be Desmond’s guards, knowing how much their friend had suffered from the eyes of strangers who think of him as a successor, not a child being given too much burden.

I kinda like the idea that Desmond’s alicorn form is ‘hidden’ and the form I drew before with Desmond wearing a hoodie is what he usually looks like. His low self-esteem sorta hindered his growth and he wears a hood because he believes he has no horn (that’s not true. It’s just a bit too little right now).

And that’s why the ruler decided that Desmond should go on a quest!

“A quest to find the kind of ruler you wish to be.”

………. and also because Discord needs to be beaten again.

The ruler has complete trust that Desmond would succeed and find the path he wishes to take.

Desmond agrees because it wasn’t like he can actually say no to their ruler.

He also makes the ruler agree that, if Desmond loses to Discord or if he returns after defeating Discord but not knowing what kind of ruler he wants to become, the ruler must pick another successor. (he even gives the name of his guards as his replacement because, in his eyes, they’re better choices that he could ever be).

The ruler agrees and Desmond sets out on his quest with his guards (who didn’t know about the ‘deal’ he and the ruler have).

During their quests, they meet other ponies and, away from the scrutinizing eyes of the other ponies that was surrounding him growing up, Desmond slowly starts to realize that he does have what it takes to be the ruler.

Fighting Discord (maybe even go the cliché but still heart-string pulling setup of Desmond finally awakening into his alicorn form to protect his friends or because of his friends’ words of encouragement and defending Desmond from Discord preying on his insecurities during the heat of the moment) is the climax of the story and they win. Afterwards, they return to the ruler and…

This is the part where Desmond has to now choose.

To finally accept that he will be the next ruler or…

To say that he doesn’t want to be the next ruler and would rather travel the world, helping ponies in need (as well as a final fuck you to the ponies who had been ‘disappointed’ of him for years)

Sweetie Belle was bullied for having ugly markings and for being fat during her school years. At 16/17 she was picked up by a well known, wayyy older than her modelling agent she met through Rarity. The agent claiming that Sweetie's markings were "for sure a mark (haha) of a famous upcoming model and a great career!" Loving this validation of one of her biggest insecurities Sweetie enters an abusive boss/worker relationship, later turned a romantic relationship, with said agent. Becoming an actress/model/singer and a naive little puppet to be mistreated and used by her agent for most of her early adulthood.

She hits her breaking point and leaves - around the same time Apple Bloom returns to Sweet Apple Acres for the first time in years - making media waves with a publishing of her autobiography that details her life and the abuse she suffered. She surfs the waves of limelight for a few years before deciding to become a music teacher in the very place she grew up in, Ponyville. Now she lives a fairly quiet life, reunited with her besties.

My idea right now is that she's in a polyship with Scootaloo, Spur & Rainbow Harmony later in life. But that's up for change. I'm also not very happy with her mane in this drawing :T I wanted to reference Nightmare Rarity with Sweeties design, not sure how I feel about it.

Apple Bloom was babied to hell and back by her family, mainly Applejack. Very much overbearing helicopter parent type childhood (Applejack worries too much). She developed an interesting set of issues from this. She feels simultaneously completely lost/directionless in life and inferior to everyone (specifically intelligence wise) AND also the pressure of a thousand ancestors on her shoulders, constantly whispering in her ear about how she needs to take control and be as good, if not better, than what everyone around her expects her to be. Sooooo.. she has to be the best of the best but also has no clue where to start and huge anxiety issues about starting things and about asking for help. Lovely \(^^')/

I'm also toying with giving her some paranoia problems, but I'm still on the fence about that.

In her early adulthood, after the CMC fell apart, she starts job hopping and traveling around. Trying everything she can get her hooves on. Not being perfect at things as fast as she wants to be and subsequently quitting. Never earning her cutie mark ("Crusaders of the Lost Mark" never happens in Novaverse). Always returning home every weekend. Until she doesn't. She starts distancing herself from her family bit by bit after realizing how toxic the environment is for her. Finally ending with her going no/low contact. Applejack is absolutely devastated by this. After a few years of learning to live and learn for herself and coming to terms with the fact that she isn't - and will never be - perfect, she returns to Sweet Apple Acres. her decision comes from something bad happening (not sure what yet, prolly Granny Smith's death but we shall see). Finding the entirety of Sweet Apple Acres barely surviving, Apple Bloom finally decides to reach out to her old friends for help to get Sweet Apple Acres back onto it's hooves. Finally earning her cutie mark in the process. This also kick-starts Applejacks self improvement arc.

I'm still not super pumped about the markings i've given her in this sketch, I feel like they're a bit too saturated in parts.

And finally, Scootaloo, who I honestly have absolutely no idea what to do with-

Important note before I start rambling: Scootaloo is a transman in Novaverse and goes by he/him, so those are the pronouns I will be using in the paragraphs following.

Starting off, I absolutely despise how his parents are introduced and characterized in the show. How they managed to make his aunties the sweetest of the sweet but rush his parents out the door so horribly? I'll never know. But I sure as hell am mad about it and will rewrite them >:T So his aunties stay the exact same for Novaverse...however his parentsssss... well-

The current idea is that his mom is sort of like a more extroverted Daring Do type adventurer. Instead of being """the hero""" tho, she's just a botanist who is very excited about her work and sharing her research. She's definitely a mom who didn't want to be a mom and so has turned to ignoring her problems - Scootaloo - and diving head first into her work, dumping her problems on her sister.

Scootaloo's father I have less ideas for. I know for sure I want him to be Māori and also the stern, loving fatherfigure for most younger than him type (think Massimo Marcovaldo from Luca). But that's literally it? The two probably met while Scoot's mom was on one of her work trips but how he is with Scoots, if he's involved or not, if he even knows his son exists - no idea.

The reason I'm rambling off about his parents, is because with Scoots specifically, I imagine he wishes to be like what he imagines his parents to be like. In his head, he most likely imagines his mom as a rebel researcher. Researching things she's not supposed to and publishing findings she's told not to. Being super duper totally punk!! All of this being the complete opposite of who his mother actually is of course. In contrast, his daydream of his father is probably very close to what his father is actually like.

Scoots has a huge rebellious phase when the CMC separate. He's the youngest of the group and takes it the hardest. Rainbow Dash, his second mother, being too absorbed into making her newborn daughter a mini-her, to offer any form of support to Scoots, which also fucks with him a lot. Becoming a complete forest fire of a character for a while. He struggles with becoming attached too quickly to strangers and with keeping relationships - both romantic and platonic. Once the CMC reunite later on in life, he has the hardest time trusting them again and letting them back into his heart.

I definitely need to do more research for + clean up Scootaloo's design a lot. I am however very happy with the general direction of the current concept.

just as a note, i haven't seen my little pony since i was like. 11. and also i don't think i watched beyond twilight becoming an alicorn. my knowledge of later seasons mostly comes from horsecomix. so if i say anything that contradicts the Horse Lore, sorry about that.

ok now for individual designs.

yuma is a unicorn, mostly because mystery labyrinths require him to be able to hold a sword and talk at the same time. in addition to his memories, he lost his cutie mark in the pact, so everyone who sees him is like "damn you're an amnesiac AND a blank flank? pick a struggle". he doesn't have any accessories by default, but he probably gets a little hat in the rain + his cape in the mystery labyrinth. he was the first pony i drew, so his face looks a little janky. i struggled with drawing the ponies from any angle other than a perfect sideview, and the snouts/mouths were the hardest parts by far. the front view i did for yuma was a bit easier than the 3/4 view i did for most of the cast, but it was still tougher than i expected. pony artists who mimic the style of the show have all of my respect.

shinigami's spirit form was changed a little bit, although it was already so abstracted compared to a real human that i didn't feel i needed to change much in order to make her fit into the pony universe. i just swapped her horns out for wings and gave her a horn. i also removed her thumbs and made her colors closer to her human (er, pony) form. she's no longer a "death god" in the traditional sense, now being the "princess of death" in the same way twilight is the princess of friendship or cadence is the princess of love. she was sealed away because she was shit at her job (just killed a fuckton of people for no reason) but anypony who stumbled across the book she was sealed in can make a contract w her just like in rain code canon. obvi this is a little dark for the actual mlp universe, they wouldn't be putting a trigger-happy murder princess in their rated y cartoon, but this is the same fanbase that made fuckin. cupcakes and rainbow factory and a whole slew of others that make the main characters of mlp infinitely more fucked up than canon shinigami ever was. so i feel like we can have a little suspension of disbelief here.

shinigami's true form is an alicorn, obvi. she's a god princess, she's gonna be an alicorn. i tried to refrain from giving the characters too many accessories to better mimic the simpler mane 6 designs, but shinigami looked so naked with just the crown. so she also got her flower and little necklace. i didn't even attempt to put her hair in braids, since drawing her face at that angle was such a challenge already. upon posting this, i also realize i forgot to give her a tail. just imagine any tail you want on her. pin the tail on the shinigami. her cutie mark has the same dark void effect as nightmare moon's, although i can't remember if luna also has it as well. regardless, it's a visual tie-in to nightmare moon, who has a similar "princess banished to an inanimate object" thing going on. the actual cutie mark itself is two bones, representing death in a cutesy cartoony fashion. i was gonna do a skull and crossbones but then i realized. no one knows what a human skull looks like. there's no people. and i am NOT about to draw a fucking horse skull. so, bones it is.

yakou is probably the one i'm proudest of! i feel like i really captured the essence of the background pony in him. i feel like i could see him hanging out with lyra heartstrings and dr. whooves and i wouldn't bat an eyelash. his hair is a little longer than in the original design but i think it looks cute so it's fine. his cutie mark is an umbrella because his calling as a detective leads him to protect others like an umbrella protects you from the rain, plus kanai ward has its whole Thing. and he can be kind of a gloomy person at times, very pessimistic. he's an earth pony because he's just a normal guy, no forte in canon and stuff like that.

makoto was probably the trickiest to actually design. the element of mystery is super important in the original character design, but he was able to still have some skin exposed since almost all of the character designs in that game have a skintone of "homestuck white". in mlp, where coat colors can be any color of the rainbow (and the colors outside of the rainbow), makoto would lose that element of mystery. so, while i generally try to avoid putting the ponies in clothes, makoto kind of needed them. he's got his full suit and a set of gloves and white shoes for his hooves. instead of being a sort of "paper plate" mask, he's got a rubber halloween mask that extends past his neck instead. don't ask how the mane comes out of the mask. we don't ask how canon makoto's mask stays on with no straps, so don't ask about this one. the mask goes over his horn, so it blocks out most powerful magic, but basic spells like levitation are still possible with a bit of effort. the pants of his suit hide his cutie mark, and when asked about what it is, he gives a different answer each time.

kurumi isn't a super complicated or in-depth design. just a cute lil earth pony with a cutie mark of a speech bubble, since she does a lot of information gathering via talking to others. in hindsight, i should've given her freckles in the same color as her body outline. imagine she has freckles please. thank you.

fubuki is the design where i actually got the courage to attempt a braid. no idea if it looks good, i didn't use a reference and my hair is too short to braid it myself. i wanted an earth pony in the core group of nda members, and i was sort of torn between her and desuhiko. however, i'm a personal believer in the "all ponies can use magic on some level" theory, and that theory posits that earth ponies have a tendency to be able to use the intrinsic magic of their planet in subtle ways. applejack can enhance her physical strength without really doing anything consciously, and most importantly, pinkie pie can bend the laws of reality for The Bit. i think time travel is kinda like bending the laws of reality for The Bit. plus, desuhiko's disguise ability is kinda like an illusion, which feels like more of a unicorn ability. her cutie mark is a clock. because. uh. you know.

desuhiko is a unicorn for reasons i mentioned in fubuki's notes. his backpack is worn like a saddle, but he can still use it to disguise himself like in rain code canon. his cutie mark is the bag with a star on it, hinting that there's a superstar (him) in the bag. not much to say about him other than that.

vivia is a pegasus. since his forte allows him to fly, it makes sense for him to be able to fly in his base form as well - he'd get used to the flight powers inherent to his ability a lot quicker if he could already do it. he's definitely more of a fluttershy than a rainbow dash in terms of how he uses his ability to fly. he prefers to walk, but if his legs get tired, he'll switch to flying for a little bit. but then both his legs and his wings get tired and he takes a little nap. that's what the pose is meant to be, altho it does look a bit like he's flying. his cutie mark is a disappearing flash shape, as his spirit form is invisible and he tends to disappear into the background in general. someone in the rain coat server told me he looks like stoney pony and i haven't been able to get that out of my mind.

halara was the last pony i drew, because i love them and wanted to get as much pony-drawing experience as i could before turning them into an equine. can't have my pookie bear looking like shit! they are also a pegasus, but not for forte reasons like vivia. rather, they just do impressive feats of athleticism on the reg, and i feel like they would be a great flyer as a result. imagine the scene where yuma calls for help while being detained by seth and the peacekeepers. a blue and purple bursts onto the scene from the fucking clouds and halara is divebombing the peacekeepers. that'd be sick as fuck. their cutie mark is an eye, because postcognition is all about sight.

CRINGETOBER DAY 11 - YANDERE

In a world of friendship, what if making friends felt impossible?

This is Whim (left)! A new character I've been kicking around the idea of for a while now, but I've finally settled on a design for her. She's shy, even awkward, but cares about others deeply (to the point where she overlooks her own feelings and needs) and wishes so badly to understand the magic of friendship. Sickle (right) is the other part of her, the form she takes when she feels threatened. Sickle exists to protect her, but Whim has complicated feelings on her existence and blames a lot of her problems on her. (Imagine KO from OK KO as a rainbow horse idk)

Whim is very precious to me but she exists for anyone who sees themself in her. I hope to draw and develop her more soon, I still gotta finalize her cutie mark!

Yes another loose interpretation of a prompt, Whim isn't a yandere but I imagine others might see her as one :(? I am bending over backwards to stay on theme while not actually drawing a yandere. Poor thang

In the course of typing this out, this got very long, so it's under a read more for other's Dashboards sanity

I've drawn various versions in the past... oh god I'm old, this game needs to stop aging- 15 years. Imagined him in all sorts of ways. My favorite is personally the squirrel design another Artist made (I unfortunately don't have their username and nothing comes back when I reverse image search it so someone feel free to supplement that info if they know)

But we do know that on some level of Canon (Thanks to the manga), Ratatosk has a humanoid figure with a physique similar to Regal and Origin.

Isn't he sexy? /jk 🤣🤣

We also know, thanks to the manga, that the Sword Emil uses is not the same style blade Ratatosk is demonstrated as owning in the comics.

(Png Rendering I made ages ago for Cosplay referencing) Which leads to reason that Emil and Ratatosk developed a new fighting style over the course of the story and the only hints that the style Ratatosk knew are in Ain Soph Aur.

Emil likes to use the sword like an extra long fencing style sword, where Ratatosk winds up for the Ain Soph Aur attack like he's wielding a Back Handed Blade aka Reverse Grip sword. (which is just a sword with the grip handle that allows for it to be held backwards. You can see this technique in many Rogue type characters, and even in Naruto when they hold their knives backwards along their forearm) **Note that you can use backhanded blades forward like normal blades**

Richter mentioned (more like aqua but who's paying attention) that Ratatosk was very strong in whatever fighting technique he knew and that he had been injured going toe to toe with Ratatosk. And Before I go into my dissertation that Ratatosk would be an AMAZING volleyball player, I'll move on. >u>

Fortunately you won't have to labor too hard into imagining what Humanoid Summon Spirits look like as the First game gave us plenty of source material to work with.

As you'll see across the spread is that, except for Maxwell, Clothing is optional. Origin put on Boots and called it FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH. I also think it's interesting that Origin and Ratatosk have very similar looking blades.

Finally, I must Add that on the Centurions themselves (and I mean aqua and Tenebrae) you can See elements of their core on them. Color scheme, Markings bearing similar strokes etc. We also know that On Undine, Celsius, and Luna that they do have physical Markings.

We also Know what Tree Spirits look like thanks to Tales of Phantasia Narikiri dungeon.

So if you wanted to run off with a completely unique Idea, Here's a bunch of info that uses Canon source materials to help you along.

As for my Head canons... Cutie with red eyes, either Red or Raven Hair (but I like to draw him with white because that's fun too). Outfits I like to do a spin off of his Knight of Ratatosk attire that only the Darkness knows because I get the Sense Tenebrae fashioned it after something Ratatosk was comfortable wearing. Something that isn't super rough around the edges because Ratatosk's dissention into a harsh personality set was triggered by the death of his tree. Mithos (in Tales of the Rays) recalled him being a very Kind Summon Spirit, Seeing a lot of who Emil is in what he recalled of Ratatosk, but still sees that Kindness in Ratatosk. (That Ratty pants totally swears he doesn't have. And Nothing gets me more than Ratatosk having enough character growth to accept what happened and forgive his old Friend for what transpired. 😭I was expecting a hoe down drag out brawl and they gave me FEELS.)

I found One of the pieces where I based him more so off Norn's design elements. Old piece is old, made back in 2019. But I'm not seeing the other versions. I'll have to see if they are stored elsewhere.
