Zelda 2 comic sneak peek

I took out my old full-length Zelda 2 comic draft and chose a segment to make a short comic out of. It's missing context from the whole grand narrative of the entire story, but I think it gets the point across.

There were a couple potentials, and I ended up choosing the scene where Link discovers that his blood is the key to awakening Ganon. It's the most well-known plot point of the game in the LOZ fandom in general, besides the Prince of Hyrule plot. Throughout the comic, Link gets attacked by various monsters during his quest. He thought Hyrule was incredibly dangerous for merchants and travelers, but found out that it was only him encountering monsters at a high rate, thus targeted (that is not discussed in this short comic). This disturbs him a lot. And this is the scene when he discovers why he's a target. It's more than the monsters seeking revenge.

At some point in the game, the player is made to travel towards south-western Hyrule and use the Hammer on dueling peaks to enter and get a magic potion. You specifically enter the peak that is originally Level 9 in Zelda 1. I found that to be very... interesting. And suspicious. Why did the developers think "Okay lets have Link go back to the traumatizing final boss place from the first game to retrieve an item :D" It's kinda epic honestly and it gave me the idea: For the full comic, I made it that Link follows rumors and travels down there in the hopes of finding the magic book containing the revive spell, which is game-changing for the rest of his journey. Being the adventurer that he is, Link takes the risk and goes there thinking the place is long-abandoned and that Ganon probably no longer exists. Except, that isn't the case. (Okay I must add, after the revelation, Link loses his adventurous spirit and gets very serious with his quest. No longer enjoys exploring, which is all this Link is about. He starts developing Big Fears. This eventually spawns Dark Link. I wish I could make the entire comic but I know I can't T-T I should probably finish up and polish the draft and post it online for whoever is interested in a deep dive, lore-intense Zelda 2 story reimagining.)

It's the first time I do a 10 page comic, so I'm going through a learning curve right now xD It's going to be experimental, but I hope you enjoy it still. Here are some WIP shots. Still a while before it's completed.

this got away from me- I found the pants of the frostbite armor and lost my goddamn mind jhjhihjijhioyj and before I realized it I was committed to do a reimagining of sayed armor in 70s fashion (it was either that or costal grandmother and no one wants that trust me)

... and then I found a piece of the ember armor- (this ended up lost in the fashion sauce neither game accurate or really recognizable as 70s clothing- but it cute :))

I’m experimenting a bit with a looser sketching style :) and doing these was so much fun (I swear one day I will make a fanart of this game that is not lost in my art block or a vague “”modern”“ AU-)

I have a lot of Legend HCs piled up in my mind so i decided to organise how my version of the hero of legends goes:

Link was born to the royal family. He is the twin of Zelda (i hc her to have pastel blue tipped hair), but at this time, it is believed that Hylia only has daughters, and that any prince born is a curse and unheared of and the baby is disposed of secretly, the public never knowing of any boys born to the queens. Link's father's brother, Alphonse is a knight of Hyrule and decides to rescue this baby and raise him himself in secrecy.

While Link grows up, Alphonse raises him in castle town, taking him the the countryside every summer to help in his grandmother's (granmalon) farm. This is until he becomes nine years old.

One night, Link wakes up from a voice in his mind, telling him to come to the castle and rescue her. He sees his uncle leaving, telling him to stay in the house and under no circumstances to leave. Link follows anyway into the storm and enters through the castle sewers where he sees his dying uncle. With his last words, Uncle bestows upon link his sword, and the responsibility of saving Zelda, telling him that "Zelda is your-"

Link continues on his adventure, the rest of the events of a Link to the past taking place. Throughout, the knights are brainwashed and are hunting him down, he is no longer safe in the open and has to stay hidden. The wanted posters make almost everybody in Hyrule call for the guards when they spot him.

In the end he is able to defeat Ganon and restore the land of Hyrule and bring his uncle back.

The knights, despite being free from their brainwashing, are never fully returned to normal, having had power before they become terrible people, using their status to mistreat the people of Hyrule and make villagers not feel safe letting their children near them.

Link travels to the Palace of the Four Sword a while agter his adventure. He fights his way through till he brings back all the Four Swords together and has to fight four shadow versions of himself (though they don't exactly look like him) and he thinks nothing of it other than it being a slightly scary experience.

Link continues living with his uncle until a year later, he is now 11, he comes across the triforce which sends him to the far lands of Holodrum- or Labryna? He isn't entirely sure, traveling through the triforce like that gave him a massive concussion and he gets a massive headache when trying to piece together which came first. Either way, he finishes his adventures with the Oracle of seasons and ages, each taking about half a year to complete and sets out by boat, trying to reach home back in Hyrule.

On his small sailboat, Link finds himself in the heart of a storm, and he and his boat is struck by lightning. His body in paralysis, he cannot do anything to fight the churning water...

Link wakes up to a face in front of him, the girl with long red hair. Her name is Marin. When retrieving his sword on the beach, an owl comes up, telling him that to leave Kohilint island, he must wake up the windfish.

Link does through each dungeon, retrieving each instrument and becoming close friends with Marin. She tells him about how she wanted to be a seagull and fly away to sing for the people of faraway lands. Link promises to take her with him when he manages to leave.

When he finds out the truth, it breaks him.

He vows never to wake the windfish, he's been living here for almost a year, he is 13 and he cares for everyone on this island, and they cafe for him. It's the safest Link has felt in a long time and it he couldn't bear to destroy Kohilint, to destroy Marin.

Link tried to build a raft and sail out, taking Marin with him, but no matter how much he pedals until his hands are covered in blisters, they cannot get any further from kohilint. Marin is the one who tells him to stop trying and hurting himself, and they go back to shore.

Link lives there for another year, not completing any more dungeons, only leaving everyday to strike down any monsters, that of which seem to never run out. Until one day Marin is kidnapped by some bokoblins, and Link is made aware how putting off waking the windfish will only increase the amount of monsters until he is unable to fend them all off.

He gets the last of the instruments and heads to wake up the windfish.

Link is 14 when he wakes in the middle of the sea, he assembles himself a small raft and has a close call with dehydration and starvation before a ship comes and picks him up. The whole time he is dealing with the grief of having basically killed Marin.

When he returns back to Hyrule three years later from when he first left, he is told that his uncle had died of a sickness a year ago. He was living off borrowed time and something borrowed is something that cannot be kept.

Link desides to put down the sword and stops adventuring forever.

Link and Zelda finally find out that they are siblings and Zelda stays by Link's side, him making a secret entrance to Zelda's room as the still corrupt guards are still out for his head since he is a prince of Hyrule. Link had never liked the idea of a royal lifestyle, knowing how Zelda hated it made him never want any part of it. He would rather stay as an average nobody and one of his people, attending to his Uncle's apple orchard, it was always enough for him. Link also starts an apprenticeship with a blacksmith to take his mind off things. It's been two years since he returned to Hyrule and Link is now 16.

When making a delivery to the castle sanctuary, Link runs into Yuga, who turns a maiden into a painting and leaves Link unconcious on the floor. Link wakes up again to the sight of a guy in a purple bunny hood saying that he found and brought Link to an empty house, unaware that it was Link's own. He gives Link his braclet and urges him to talk two Zelda who redirects him to Sahasralah which kicks off Link's adventure between the worlds of Hyrule and Lorule.

After the two kingdoms are restored, Link takes another break when Ravio sudgests he goes on a holiday to a kingdom north of Hyrule, Hytopia. Link does so and arrives just when the princess Styla is cursed. He obtains an amulet which can split him into three Dopples and fights Lady Maude, which breaks the curse.

Now Link is 18, almost 19, when a purple portal opens up in front of his house and he has no choice but to walk through and see where this new adventure takes him...

nintendo randomly dropping that a zelda movie has been in development for years smack dab in the middle of a tuesday afternoon was definitely not on my bingo chart holy shit

#i feel like realistically zelda is the only product of theirs that could translate well to live-action so i'm not upset about that decision.#the zelda team honest to god puts their all into everything they do for this series so i have a lot of faith that it'll be a success.#it'll be jarring to hear link speak though since i doubt they'll maintain his silent profile for the big screen #i'm curious if it'll be a totally original story or maybe based on the narrative of an actual game like detective pikachu?#if so then ocarina of time is the absolute safest bet. i think the narrative could be easily condensed into a 2-hour long film too.#SORRY FOR THE RAMBLINGS IT JUST CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. i was literally talking about this with my boyfriend the other week what are the odds!#zelda team i love you and everything you do. keep it up.#riley rambles

I actually think most of the mechanics and puzzles are really good (I probably have more fun in Zonai shrines then sheikah #on average) I also think expanding to the sky and underground was really smart and good. I think most of my issues are with the story #they did Zelda so dirty. sooooooo dirty. the three good things they did with her are 1 gave her good parental figures 2 cut her hair #3 tURNED HER INTO A FUCKING DRAGON. A WYRM. have i talked abt how fucked up it is that totk has like 2 new alphabets associated with the zonai that seemingly dont translate to anything. so many mfs losing their marbles on reddit over 4 pixel trailer screenshots with shitty lighting only for the game to come out and its all bullshit ONE OF THE LANGUAGES IS ACTIVELY BEING TRANSLATED IN-UNIVERSE AND IT DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING. horrific

I unpacked A Box. I'm trying out this new thing called unpacking One Box per day. So that I can finally get all this shit unpacked. I moved here a YEAR ago and im only making an effort to unpack now.

It happens.

#speculation nation #IT WAS THE STORAGE I DIDNT HAVE THE STORAGE FOR UNPACKING #i yell as if i didnt have plenty of space for clothes in my dressors that went unused lmao #i unpacked a box of tshirts and jeans today that's been sitting in my room for at Least 9 months #yesterday my headache made me not wanna unpack BUT the day before i unpacked the box with all my pocket knives in it #at this point most of my boxes left r clothes. tho i do have a box of assorted electronics (mostly my wii & wii games)#and a box of kitchen stuff. and a box with some random closet shit.#Not normal clothes tho. my kenma cosplay is in there (i know bc tally dragged that wig out SEVERAL times)#almost definitely cant fit into those shorts anymore bc they were tight on me at 17 and my hips have Definitely grown #but i could maybe wear the jersey 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 i still love him so like Maybe #me unpacking my tshirts was like 'oh i forgot i had a p4 shirt! oh i forgot i had an evangelion shirt! oh i forgot i had-'#i have a p4 shirt. evangalion. 2 kingdom hearts. 2 legend of zelda (1 of which is botw specifically)#uhhh theres also flcl. #limon talks #one of the names i use has a B in it #it was very hard im both games to get it to recognize when i wrote a B #it was somehow worse in the second game at detecting my writing #i think i was stuck on the intro for like. 10 minutes.#or at least it felt like it #might share my thoughts on the games when i finish the third one #for now i'll just say i like 1 slightly more than 2 #it has a cooler twist at the end and a more satisfying story imo #i also think 2 had an ok story just a lot more dumb elements in it #both are pretty enjoyable tho #i love the art in this #kinda gives over the garden wall vibes #ik this came first but w/e #also the character design reminds me of cdi-zelda in a good way #anyways the main reason im playing PL is for the crossover game #i probably dont need to but i figure why not

feeling like a gamer

#my latest forays into games have been incredibly successful and i know it's cause the game is made easier for me #but ACTUALLY I LOVE WHEN GAMES ARE MADE EASIER FOR ME #virtual console zelda savestates make the game perfect for me to play without worrying i'll lose all my progress #bleed 2's easy mode and forgiving checkpoints made it so i could complete the entire story mode #difficulty settings Are an accessibility tool and i appreciate them so much #i'm so happy being able to play through and beat a game it makes me feel satisfied and accomplished #i know there's lots of people out there who want their games to be challenging so they can slowly become good at them and beat challenges #and that's why i love difficulty settings so much. nightmare difficulty for those people. and 'easy/relaxed/story' mode for people like me #i don't have good reflexes and i panic and make random motions when i'm pressured #so i need games to give me the space and forgiveness to fuck up my moves constantly #and still let me succeed when i finally hit the right buttons lmao #bleed 2 is good i highly recommend it. it was quite intense and my finger joints were getting fucked up #so i switched to using my ring finger to click the mouse and (while slower) i was still able to succeed at the game perfectly fine #that's good easy mode
