warnings: spoilers from manga, ooc, slow burn friends-to-lovers troupe
Special thanks to @onecantsimply, @yellow-snark and @thatstrangesheep for their feedback and help with these headcanons! Enjoy! :)
Even in death, Qin Shi Huang was an emperor whom everyone respected as the ‘king who began everything’. He had reunited the annexed nations of China, a guiding light who led his people bringing peace and prosperity after almost a millennium of strife. Now, within the vast afterlife known as Valhalla, he reigned over a substantial amount of territory alongside his successors, working as a cohesive council when conflict arose.
Today, however, he has come to handle the problem on his own terms. For the last two months, men, women, and even children have gone missing from the foot of the northeastern mountains. Given the harsh environment, it is not too odd to believe that the cause of their disappearance might be an attack from a wild animal, angering the spirits who guard the terrain, or just simply got lost.
But the disemboweled bodies told the emperor a different story: there is a beast devouring his people, and it is certainly not a bear. For a split moment, Qin Shi Huang feared that Chi You had somehow returned from beyond its miserable grave and had come back to take revenge on the ‘insolent whelp’ who would not bow before its bony knees as payment for being accepted as an emperor of China.
If that were truly the case, though, there would be more corpses strewn about the mountain base than the current number of victims. Qin Shi Huang had already defeated the god, and he will do it again to protect his subjects. Such is the road he leads as an emperor, after all~.
So imagine his surprise when he comes across a six-armed being with pasty skin and glowing golden sclera, hunched over the corpse of a man cradling his child. It was not Chi You, but a demon. A demon that was the stuff of legends many years ago, only for them to suddenly vanish and become nothing more than a bedtime story to keep children from sneaking off at night.
And now, here is the great emperor, face-to-face with this drooling beast. Qin Shi Huang frowned, bending his sinewy body into an offensive position. Just when he was about to launch an attack, his opponent’s head rolled off its shoulders. He blinked, watching the demon’s body collapse onto the grass, twitching rapidly before disintegrating into dust. Hm? He hadn’t even moved! Unless the presence of an emperor is that powerful before a demon that it self destructs?
“Are you all right?” Qin Shi Huang then saw a figure standing where the demon had been, sword unsheathed. At first glance, she seemed like an ordinary traveler by the way she dressed, but the emperor knew that she was certainly not an ordinary person. Not from the tremendous amount of chi circulating around this woman’s body and the sword fastened at her waist.
She was a warrior as Chun Yan had been.
He grinned. “Hao!”
[Eye Color] orbs blinked at him in confusion, tilting her head to the side as she repeated the word. “Does that mean…you are hurt?”
Zori sandals stomped against the bloodied soil as she strode over to him, astounding Qin Shi Huang with her agility. She frowned slightly, her eyes scanning over his body. “You…are all right, it appears.” She glanced up at him. “I…apologize if I had gotten…your clothes dirty. You are a young lord, yes?”
Qin Shi Huang frowned. “Buhao.”
“Hm?”
He raised his right hand, pressing his middle and index fingers together before he pointed them towards the ground, the golden nail guards glowing beneath the moonlight. “Humble yourself. You are in the presence of an emperor. Be grateful I have not executed you for your impudence.”
“You…are an emperor?”
That was how the greatest emperor in all of Chinese history crossed paths with the greatest Demon Slayer in history, the Mother of All Breathing Techniques, the Sun Hashira [First Name] [Last Name].
Tumblr media
In your defense, you never would have guessed that the man who had been endangered moments ago had not been a feudal lord looking for trouble in these woods, but an emperor who had come to kill the demon devouring his people.
You did apologize for being rude, and politely asked His Imperial Majesty if there was a town close by. You lived deep in the mountains, though in the opposite direction of his territory. It would take about two days to return should you leave now. That was only if you were lucky enough to not come across any more demons on your journey back home.
To your surprise, this emperor all but commanded you to follow him to his palace. He boasted that it was the largest one in Valhalla, with the finest food and rooms available for only esteemed guests and members of his court. However, since you did humble yourself before him, he will make an exception and allow a weary traveler to stay in the guest quarters for the night. You thanked him, trailing after the man through the woods to the crowded streets of a bustling city and right up the stone footsteps of an extravagant palace the likes of which you had never seen before.
You dared to say that it was much bigger than the Ubuyashiki compound.
With a clap of his jeweled hands, a group of young maidens in flowing robes appeared before him. He ordered them to make sure you received the most excellent care, including running a warm bath and mending your damaged clothes. Before you could have a moment to say something, you were immediately whisked away to another part of the palace until dinner was ready.
The food was just as extravagant as the clothes that the maidens had dressed you in. It was almost too much, but you dared to not insult your host. Instead, you bowed your head to him in gratitude and ate as much as you could without being too rude. Thankfully you could recall some of your table manners from when you had been alive, before becoming a Hashira and just the daughter of a prestigious household in the Sengoku era.
Between the raucous laughter and idle chatter amongst the others who dined at this table, you had almost expected to be asked to leave or escorted out of the banquet hall so that the emperor could speak to his fellow countrymen freely without the presence of an outsider.
Instead, His Imperial Majesty asked you many questions. Who you are, why were you in the woods, how did you defeat the demon, etc. You answered them to the best of your ability, humbly explaining that you had once been a Demon Slayer and trained to exterminate the ones who came out at night to consume human flesh. There is nothing special about you.
You had simply worked hard, protected humanity until your untimely death. There was no need for him to know of your ability to see the Transparent World, much less the Breathing Techniques of a Demon Slayer.
Some secrets were meant to be just that: secrets. And you were bad at explaining things; it had been a miracle that the Hashiras, those whom you had worked alongside all those years ago, could comprehend your words and adapt the Sun Breathing techniques into their own variations: Water, Insect, Flame, Wind, Stone, and so forth.
Again the emperor surprised you; he seemed intrigued by the Breathing Styles and continued to ask questions about how to use it until the handmaidens escorted you to the guest quarters later that night, although His Imperial Majesty wished to keep speaking even in a drunken stupor.
The following morning, you thanked the emperor for his hospitality and left the palace. An armed entourage followed you out to the city’s borders to make sure you would not try to attack His Imperial Majesty nor the citizens. You thanked them for their vigilance and hard work before beginning the journey towards your humble home.
You were certain that this was the first and only time you would come across royalty and thought nothing of it in the days that went by upon returning, weeks becoming almost two months since the demon attack. You would either be tending to the crops or practicing your swordsmanship. Eventually, it was time for you to venture down from the mountains to restock on your supplies.
The villagers who lived at the mountain’s edge were kind people. Some of them were elderly and required assistance with manual labor or errands. You did not mind helping them, and were quite hesitant to accept anything from them, especially rice or other precarious commodities.
Most were merchants who traveled a great distance from the village to the city to sell their wares. How could you even consider taking that away from them? To your dismay, they were quite stubborn and practically shoved it in your hands.
The ‘payment’ from the villagers, including the usual amount of items you purchased from the vendors, became too much for you to carry without making two trips up and down the mountain.
You were almost considering having to borrow a cart when a voice called out to you.
Turning around, your eyes widened in shock at the appearance of the emperor Qin Shi Huang walking down the muddied main road, flanked by four or five armed soldiers. He recognized you immediately, almost running with a wide grin on his face.
He’d been wanting to continue his conversation with you, yet due to his workload in the palace prevented him from venturing out sooner. You had also been difficult to track down as no one seemed to be aware that a Demon Slayer wearing hanafuda earrings existed in Valhalla except for a young whelp and his little sister living in the floating cities alongside the Valkyries.
But now, he’s here and ready to chat~. You should be grateful he had traveled such a long way to visit. He is an emperor after all. He was willing to help carry the supplies up the mountains if it meant he had an opportunity to challenge you to a fight and idly chatter over drinks.
Upon explaining that you did not drink alcohol, the emperor told you not to fret. He’s come prepared. Revealing a large jug of corked liquor in his hand with a wide grin, you realized that he would not go away even if you politely asked him too.
So with great reluctance, you guided Qin and his entourage up the mountains, some of them carrying your supplies.
A peaceful day became chaotic. And from this single afternoon of idle chatter and sparring with an incredibly powerful fighter transitioned to an unlikely friendship. Qin Shi Huang was nothing like Sumiyoshi, that much was certain.
Where Sumiyoshi was a humble man blessed to have a family in turbulent times, the boastful emperor had been an unwanted child from the moment he was born. If it had not been for his mentor and mother, that meek little boy would not have the confidence to move forward and pave the road for his people to live in peace, let alone find a method to deal with the Zhao’s anger aimed at him simply because he was from royalty.
He had many children sired from his concubines but he never took an empress, much to his council’s annoyance even in the afterlife. Chun Yan too, of all people!
Yet despite such different personalities from two different people who are your friends….you knew they both possessed kindness and empathy. Why else would an emperor continue to maintain contact with you via letters and occasionally visit you in the mountains over the next thirty years?
He’s a man who had led his people into prosperity after all, the king of all kings.
You had lost so much when you were alive…is it truly all right to be selfish and treasure Qin Shi Huang as a friend, an emperor of all people?
Tumblr media
Qin Shi Huang quickly discovered that there was more to his new friend than being a calm, unreadable individual who never raised her voice once even when he had been purposely annoying just to gauge a reaction.
The Sun Hashira…she was perfect. A beautiful, complex creature who values integrity and kindness above all else. She did not enjoy fighting, preferring a quiet life away from society than challenging one opponent after another. And like him, she knew what it meant to lose a loved one.
When it came to strength, she once told him, those who are marked like herself will all meet the same fate. He had an idea as to the cryptic meaning behind her words…and he prayed that she would live in this afterlife.
When he revealed his past to her, what he had done as a child until his death, the Sun Hashira simply accepted it all as they say together on the snowy veranda of her small home.
“To live in an era of conflict…there can never be true peace without bloodshed. Your Imperial Majesty had gone through so much….and you were loved deeply by Chun Yan. I wish….I could have met her….and thank her for raising a wonderful, strong son.”
Qin Shi Huang.exe stopped working for a span of five seconds before he tried to hide his embarrassment with a swing of the warm sake that his host had prepared especially for them to celebrate the New Year together.
Another year has come and gone…so why was it that his heart hasn’t stopped hammering against his ribcage?
Bonus Content:
After five years of sending luxurious gifts and love letters, it took a stammering confession from the emperor to convey his feelings towards the Sun Hashira.
Although she did not want to marry right away, she humbly accepted a period of courtship from China’s greatest emperor until it was appropriate to be welcomed as his empress.
Some of his court were pleased that he had finally selected a wife to become the mother of the nation, but there were others who believed that [First Name] was too independent and would not respect the traditions required to follow after becoming an empress.
Needless to say, Qin Shi Huang made an example of the courtiers who dared to disrespect his new wife behind closed doors. His warning also extended to the concubines, should they try to do something malicious out of petty jealousy.
Quality time included sampling delicacies in the garden, sparring matches, and cuddling in his private quarters.
Chun Yan approved of [First Name], congratulating her adoptive son on finding a woman who can keep up with his shenanigans.
The domestic bliss between the emperor and empress never wavered…until Brunhilde approached the palace and asked for their aid to fight against the gods. Both of them.
If it hadn’t been for [First Name]’s benevolence, Qin would have immediately executed the Valkyrie on the spot for her arrogance. Instead he gave her the courtesy and listened to her proposal regarding the event called Ragnarok. A battle royale until one opponent is annihilated.
The emperor would be lying if he said he wasn’t interested, but he had no intention of bringing his Sun Hashira into it. He wanted her to spend this afterlife in peace, not to put her life on the line again.
Alas, his wife was stubborn. He agreed to Brunhilde’s terms so long as she agreed to his terms. Once she left the palace, he pulled his empress into a long talk about this…situation.
Whatever obstacles will come their way, they will face it together. The Sun Hashira isn’t alone anymore.

calling at the walls of my enclosure.... I HATE school... I have so much homework but my thoughts r filled with wolf dog wrio vs puppytaru or maybe foxtaru. They fight for your attention behind ur back <3 -chubby darling anon that's going a bit insane, particularly from the fem nurse geto pannel in the jjk manga
HAIII MY FAV ANON HAIIIII!!! linking this from like two weeks ago here bc… wolfwrio foxtaru :3 butttt… wolfwrio and puptaru is a VERY good combo bc that’s like… double dog moment… imagine urself as megumi, wrio and taru are ur demon dogs, terrible trouble makers both of them… also ignore my fiddling with the time line, taru gets more free prison time for the plot… anyways i hope ur doing well i miss u sm my dearest :(( reminder my dms r OPEN!! i have more thoughts that i think you’d like <3
Tumblr media
wolf Wrio, as we’ve already established, is a territorial mess. when he decides something is his, it’s very difficult to get him to even let it leave his sight so when that thing is an entire other human being things only become more difficult. any meetings with him now have to come with the disclosure that you will be there regardless of what the other party has to say about that, he’s started furnishing his office with more things that you like (a big thing considering how protective he is over his spaces), and almost all of the inmates have been witness to wrio nibbling on you whenever he can. he’s a major biter, by the way, even an inch of skin has his teeth on display as he gently chomps onto you, tail swishing happily.
the little set up of you nearly never being without him was working flawlessly before a certain ginger man became the newest prisoner. suddenly, Wrios occasional bouts of irritability became more frequent and he was growling at even the quietest of sounds. you hadn’t seen him so… aggressive before so the behaviour was concerning, and given that you didn’t have such a sharp nose like him, it was impossible for you to figure out what exactly was getting on every last one of his nerves. brewing his tea yourself and making sure he got enough pats seemed to help to a degree but the moment you stopped his ears would be flat against his skull once more.
after a week of this nonsense, you peeling him off of you one afternoon to ask around and see if you could decipher what was going on. you figured there was a good chance it could be internal prison affairs or certain deadlines but upon finding all the other staff and inmates in perfect spirits with not the slightest bit of knowledge of the situation, you hung your head and prepared to scheme up a plan to visit Neuvillette and ask for his thoughts. that was until a pair of floppy orange ears came into your field view followed by a man who certainly looked like he should not have a disposition so cute; a well-built frame smattered with various scars. you briefly thought about how his appearance matched your dear Wriotheslys in a way but the man spoke up with a cheery voice, already knowing your name and introducing himself as ‘Tartaglia or Childe to most but you’re welcome to call me Ajax, cutie,’ and pulling you in for a hug rather than a handshake. it didn’t take a genius to figure out how odd of an interaction this was becoming or how dangerous the situation you’d gotten into was. alas, it would be more troublesome to ignore him and walk away so you entertained his slew of questions for awhile longer, desperately trying to avoid noticing the way he looked at you with something darker than mere curiosity.
when you finally managed to speed walk your way back to Wrios office, you were met with his nose at your throat and a prominent scowl on his face. gruffly and paired with numerous low growls, he demanded to know just why you thought it was okay to be around that harbinger for more than a second especially when he isn’t there. baffled and slightly afraid, the gears turned in your head and you realized that this is what had been bothering him; Ajax. slightly and patting his head lovingly, you assured him of your love and promised that you’d never even lay eyes on him again if that’s what he wanted, and Wrio was pleased with this. the rest of your day was spent wrapped in his arms at his desk, only escaping briefly to help Sigewenne reach a book off a shelf.
you didn’t need to know of the late night rounds the two men spent in the pankration ring, at each others throats between individual fascination with you.

any thoughts about Deerfoot, Patron of Rebellion? (Totally not bc I have a drawing of him in the works, and don't want to get any details wrong haha)
WELL,
Him and Pearstar tend to "compete" a bit, some patrons overlap until one beats the other out, or they settle into different, adjacent roles.
Pearstar tends to be associated more with people who HAVE power stepping up to do what's right, where Deerfoot is more of a Guerilla's Patron.
Deerfoot has been a lot more popular in the modern era because of this, with how opposition to The Kin and The Impostor are both almost entirely unapproved by the other leaders.
But on that note, both of these gods are worshiped VERY quietly. In hushed tones.
A Leader is a holy figure. To openly discuss their overthrowing could be a kind of blasphemy in and of itself.
I like to think that people carve very tiny trinkets out of deer "ivory" in Deerfoot's image.
He is a very rare exception to the "StarClan spirits are invoked; Dark Forest demons are channeled" rule. There are times where you don't want StarClan to know what you are planning...
And he is there to advise you on if he agrees with your cause or nay.
He was involved in opposing Brokenstar, Nightstar, and Tigerstar. When Nightstar tried to drive out WindClan for ShadowClan's benefit, Deerfoot turned HARD on him. He was never afraid to oppose someone doing the wrong thing.
Deerfoot famously died refusing to rat out any of his supporters, and ended up being the ONLY cat to be killed in retaliation for letting the prisoners escape.
He was beaten before that, though. When he died, he was already a bloody mess. Tigerstar learned his lesson about just starving prisoners before setting an executioner on them.
It was probably Blackfoot who did the deed. I imagine he handled every execution; THOUGH they might have forced Jaggedtooth to do it.
If it was Jaggedtooth, Deerfoot didn't fight. Jag was one of his accomplices. They both knew very well that he couldn't make a stand here-- he needed to do this, and keep himself safe.
He was eventually buried in a "Rogue's Graveyard" of sorts, a big pit where they tossed most of the TigerClan victims in RiverClan territory. For the brief period of time before the destruction of the White Hard, anyone could go there to pay their respects.
RiverClan had been pretty testy about visitation towards the end, though.
If you need a picture, here's his refresher and here's his sheet, which was one of the first reduxes I did. He's got these long, sweeping whiskers and a lanky kind of build, with his mother's lip.

Ayo so 9ft tall hot alien colonizers am I right 👀👀💫??? Thanks sm for writing the PERFECTION that is Revenant 💕✨️💞 BTW that fic got me thinking...
So after the events of TWOW, Miles, near dead tbh, comes across a Nav'vi woman who was separated from her family when trying to escape one of his RDA raids on the villages in search for Jake. She's terrifed of him because she remebers him, but her kind soul patches him up and nurses his weak form back to health in her makeshift home. When recovered, he takes her in for reasons immediately unknown to him or her (but he tells his commanding officer some bs about gaining the hostiles trust or something).
She, being just an average ocean Nav'vi with no warrior spirit in her (kind of like a temeperment similar to Tsireya) can't understand a word of English, and Miles can only understand 5% of what she's saying. They have lost their only reliable translator (Spider), so Miles wants to learn to communicate with her directly because he hates 3rd party communication anyway (as shown by his continued attempt at learning and speaking Nav'vi). He starts to teach her English using his very limited Nav'vi that Spider had taught him.
At first she is of course terrified of him cause he just took her to a place filled with Sky People (of which her only experices with involve deaths, cruelties, and pain). She wonders why he took her with him (spoiler: he took her cause she helped him, was cute, all alone, and the lost/scared/helpless eyes she gave him when he initially came across her got to him. I imagine she looked similar to how Tsireya looked when her dad yelled at her for her allowing Lo'ak to bond with the outcast).
As Miles starts attempting to talk to her in her language and teach her his own language, she starts seeing another side of him. The side that loves his comrades, loves his son, had listened to his sons pleas for mercy on her people, has strong duty to his people (which is respected in her village), jokes around with her and his comrades, and protects her even when really has no reason to since she's technically the enemy. She has to fight this growing warmth and respect for him with the horrible things she sees him do to her people for his mission and personal vegnece against jake, and the horrible things the Sky People he has strong loyalties to continue to do to her home of Pandora. Ofc they are also both physically attracted to each other so this can be mature rated if u feel comfortable (I surely wouldn't mind a bonding ... or several occuring).
Mostly, Miles teaching her English and trying to get past her initial fear of him and all his dominating "demon" presence when he can barely communicate with her. It'd be cute if the first thing she learns to call him is "colonel" because that's what everyone calls him. And even though he later teaches her his name, she still calls him that endearingly. Like, "Miles" is for when she's mad at him 😂.
Miles is real patient with her because she is a good girl. Shes just mostly scared and confused by many things in her new environment (her own emotions most included). Miles is mostly just being himself around her, very aware that shes watching him quite cautiously and curiously. Because of her distrust of Sky People, she's by Miles' side alot, but mostly stays silent because she can't really understand what others are saying around her in rapid English so she just pretty much ignores everyone else and focuses on her Colonel. She reads his eyes, his ears, his tail, and his breathing just to know what's really going on with him. Even after she learns some english from him, she has also learned to understand Miles without his having to speak. Miles keeps his Nav'vi by his side and she answers to no one except her Colonel. Legit Miles would be mad protective of her. No one touches her but him. Real territorial ish. I'm sorry this is getting outta hand. 😂
I just love Stockholm syndrome tropes sm! And u write it so well 😆👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽💞 certified good ish. Thanks for the thought 💡.
‘Pretty much ignores everyone else and focuses on her Colonel’ BDJSHSBBFSJHDHD SO MF CUTEEE
THIS IS AMAZINGGG I LOVE IT SM
I adore the whole idea of her being able to read him without necessarily understanding the words coming out his mouth, I think he pairs so well with someone like that (lord knows that man would rather have his tail bitten then talk about his emotions).
Would 10000% be extremelyyyy over protective, that terrified expression on your face the day he met you still makes him grimace. You’d have to always be in his eyesight or tucked safely under his arm.
I also think that once you had settled down at his side, the crew would begin to accept you more - your kind nature practically forcing them to.
Like a baby sheep being taken in by a pack of wolves that absolutely adore you.

Bioluminescent Akaza is a fun concept, in my opinion.
Perhaps his battle spirit is what makes the ink glow. With his spirit "shining through" the ink, it could kind of highlight (pun unintentional) his fixation on spirits and their composition.
It would also match the "compass needle" he uses, I think. It's sick to imagine an animation of the ink's glow traveling downwards and feeding into the creation of the compass (when it embeds itself into the ground).
The stronger his fighting spirit, the brighter the glow, the brighter the compass, then the stronger the demon art, yanno.
For a long term project maybe I could animate the previous description so I can further get that idea across...
I would think that he would be able to dim or brighten his spirit on command (for either stealth missions or to ward other demons off his territory: "I recognize that light, we gotta scram!")

Like I said I wanted to write some monsters so I'm writing monsters ^^
Zhongli, Kokomi, Hu Tao and Baizhu monster scenarios with human reader
Reader here is gender neutral
Cw: manipulation, mentions of violence (Zhongli), mentions of death (Hu Tao), mentions of blood (Baizhu)
Zhongli- Demon
There is a lot of regrets he has yet to get over. Although as a very high rank demon such feelings aren't expected of him.
It's impossible to tell him from human, he used to use it to his advantage but now he's done with causing all of the chaos.
But some of the old habits die hard so he's still obsessed with contracts... Only now he doesn't harvest souls from them.
He just likes having everything on paper since his old mindset often plays pranks on him whenever interacting with humans. He can't seem to trust them is all.
He always knew that law would back him up if he had everything written down. So should any human mess with him he'd use their own system... Should the system fail he'd handle it on his own. Because his violent tendencies haven't exactly died down. As long as he has a good reason he had no problem settling things with violence.
Despite all that he was good at fooling people about being human, but he never felt like one. You helped him change that.
Number one thing that confused him was unconditional kindness. And that's exactly what you displayed.
He never understood how you were always so nice without ever expecting anything of him in return.
It took him a while but he suddenly found himself wanting to do the same for you.
He already was going against his nature for some time by now... Maybe it was three thousand years by now? But he never felt that way about anyone.
You were of course not aware of his true identity, which caused him to worry a lot.
In Liyue he met a lot of exorcists (who to him were laughable) so he knew that humans don't like demons and other evil spirits much.
It was safe to say that he had no idea how he should go about it. He could lie and he wouldn't exactly feel bad about it... What he does care about is losing you should his cover be blown.
To put it simply: He's greedy, and you're what he desires. So losing you will greatly inconvenience him.
Especially since if his identity goes public he'd have to leave the nation and go into hiding for around a hundred years so it all dies down. He'd also have to shift his appearance too... That'd be a hassle.
Wait why is he thinking about losing on the spot? There's no way he'd fail.
He spent most of his life fooling and toying with humans so this should be business as always.
But it wasn't. Due to his feelings he started slipping some information here and there. His save was calling it his attempts at jokes.
One time he almost shifted out of his disguise when you were with him. He actually forgot at the time why he was hiding when he was at home. But he remembered it quickly the moment he heard your voice as he was drifting away with his imagination.
But in the end he managed to pull himself together. He settled all those human emotions and accepted them. Thanks to that he stopped making all of those stupid mistakes. So he came back to deceiving you without a problem.
Kokomi- Siren
She had her territory, where she lived with plenty fish and other sirens. She was their leader in a way but she never ruled them- rather she took care of them.
Boats often caused anxiety to many. No matter if those were actual fishing boats or not they still associated them with losing someone.
She only ever spooked all sailors away from her territory. She never really drowns them.
She'd attack the boats when they got close but was careful to never truly damage them. With her tactics it always worked.
She didn't have to do it often, since most sailors learned to stay away. Not many cared about that "dead" part of the sea anyways.
Even though she should move from that waters, not a lot of things grew there and it was hard to live there- it had sentimental value to her and the others.
Her determination lead her to a point where she found a way to turn herself into a human temporarily.
She'd often visit human lands and read books that could help her make a change. But there wasn't many books on marine biology she could find.
During such trips she met you. It was unexpected but she ended up really liking your company.
She didn't hide the fact that she was a siren. Since relationships are built on trust, so if you won't trust her due to her not being human- then any further form of engagement with you would be meaningless.
Not only that it'd save you some shock. Perhaps if she didn't tell you right away you'd get mad at her for hiding something this important for long.
Fortunately for her you didn't think of it as bad, actually you were fascinated by her.
She found it flattering and eventually the two of you became close. It was also a great opportunity for both of you to learn about your respective worlds.
She didn't ask for your help with her problem, and she didn't expect it of you either. Your relationship was completely outside of it.
Although she was usually the one who visits you, she wasn't against you getting into the boat and swimming over to her, she'd warn her friends and everything would be alright. Or you could meet on the Watatsumi island which she now considered her second home.
She's far more comfortable in her siren self though, so whenever possible she'd just stay in the water.
She didn't sing often, but it wasn't that she wasn't willing to do it for you. She just knew that no matter what her singing voice would hypnotize you and she doesn't want that.
I mean you were already captivated by her so I don't think she needs to sing in order to make you blindly follow her.
Jokes aside she's really happy that she had met you. You help her worry less about all those hardships she has to constantly prepare for. I mean she got so far already, so surely she can power through just about anything.
Hu Tao- Grim Reaper
You could say that she was sort of a sheppard, helping and guiding souls who've passed on.
She helps them feel less afraid as they move on. Usually her words aren't too comforting but they are a good slap from reality many needed more than they thought.
But sometimes she let's them wander around if they have some unfinished business or want to just see someone or even do a little prank.
Everything has it's limits though and when one ghost decided to haunt you for no reason and for too long she had to step in.
Usually when death comes knocking at your door it's easy to lose your cool... But as she explained what she's here for, you were glad that ghost would leave you alone.
You knew she was just doing her job, but you still wanted to show your appreciation.
And that's how it started. You honestly couldn't believe you were flirting with death of all things. But hey, someone would do it sooner or later when death is such a cutie.
Her visiting you so often made things a little exciting. I mean who knows if she won't go to harvest your soul next?
Not that you were looking forward to dying... You just wondered if she'd be blunt about it.
Now that you think about it she definitely would. She'd probably greet you as always and say that it's your time now.
She didn't mind you asking questions about her job. For one she wasn't the only grim reaper. She doesn't have to wear her cloak all the time and she doesn't use or need the scythe. It's just for the effect.
But any questions about dying itself is off limits for her. You can't ask when you die or what exactly happens next. Since who knows if being a ghost isn't just a first phase of a long process?
Although she visited you plenty she also was very busy with working. So to her you were sort of a break from it all.
It's a bit tiring but also satisfying. Like when she calms down a mortal who is cussing her out and helps them understand the purpose of it all. At first it's annoying but in the end things get better.
Still hanging around someone alive was a nice change. Definitely one she welcomed even if she knew it was temporary.
That's why she cherished her moments with you even more. Once you die... I can't tell what happens! Like Hu Tao I won't tell you the end, you'll have to think about it yourself. Will this be THE end or just the beginning?
Baizhu- Gorgon
He was not by any means strong. And I mean both his physical strength and his magic.
At first he had a tough time adjusting to living with humans, but he had his reasons to stay.
Even though not many trusted him he was working at a pharmacy. He was still good at his job and at least plenty of his frequent patients appreciated him. Somehow usually the elderly were the quickest to warm up to him.
Having venomous snakes around was actually very helpful. It usually served purpose for making medicine/antidotes.
Not to mention his blood, for the blood from gorgon's right side can cure anything. Luckily for his profession this part of his gorgon powers weren't much weakened. But he only ever used it when someone had a life threatening disease.
Still only desperate people were willing to take his medicine especially his blood because that's just plain gross by default- no matter what kind. It's not only because not many trust him... Even the ones who do just can't stand the taste of his medicine. He still has a long way to do something fitting for humans not only on strictly health beneficial ways.
As to his problem with his gaze... It's not really a problem. I'll remind you that most of his powers are extremely weak and mere glasses are ale to block his magic. Even if he wasn't wearing them you'd really have to get lost in his beautiful eyes for long in order to be in actual danger.
You were actually caught stating at him once. The only snake that wasn't connected to him- who you later found out was named Changsheng- noticed you and called you out without hesitation.
To your defense at that moment he looked like some form of god. His skin looked like it was glowing but as you got closer it turns out that the effect was caused by his scales.
You went there to pick up medicine for one of your sick friends but when you saw that beautiful man it was easy to forget what you were supposed to say. Not like you could even read the prescription so there wasn't a lot that could save you.
Other than the fact that Baizhu was able to read it so he assisted you without a problem. In the meantime you engaged in smalltalk and he definitely could tell that you were interested in him, fortunately the feeling was mutual.
Even with his friend snake snapping at you every once in a while you still had a pleasant time. So afterwards you talked to each other more frequently.
You usually spent time on a small walks that ended with you just sitting somewhere and talking for hours. That is until he had to go back to work.
The snakes on his head were weirdly calm. I say weirdly because you've noticed that he has plenty of bite marks which means that he might not always exactly get along with them all the time.
But with you things just were different... Besides Changsheng who was a bit sassy with you two. Still she didn't accompany you to most of your dates. It's just that when she did see you with Baizhu she'd not go easy on you.
It was odd but you could feel both sense of routine and chaos when spending time with him. Due to his weakness you had some limitations as to what you could do together... Kinda funny to think that the immortal being is holding the mortal down and not the other way around.
Regardless, my point was that there is always something for one date to stick out more than another even if you were doing almost always the same thing.
One day for example he forgot his glasses and he had to be blindfolded for the entire date. He just insisted on waiting for you at the spot only to realize a bit too late about his lack of glasses.
Even though it didn't pose that much of a threat neither you or him can promise each other not to risk it and stare into each other's eyes for too long.
But I suppose that no matter what would happen to you, he'd do anything possible in order to help you. Especially if it would be his fault.

Was thinking about the macaque spirit king again and remembered you did mention her in SKW assassins backstory post and that they trained under them.
So for an Idea for her backstory revolves around the fact that to the rest Aioli, FFM was Paradise on earth and was constantly invaded before wukong really made a name for himself. So, it's only imaginable what life was for for less lucky demon populations. The trope they belonged was in one of the worst parts of the continent and was constantly fighting for survival, let alone have time to really enjoy themselves at least to the extent of their FFM counterparts.
It's mostly that she was able not only to keep the physical and environmental threats at bay, but was about to shape what was once a personal hell for them into a strong safe haven that enabled them to thrive, creating the kingdom they know today as well as raising up to be the macaque spirit king. She's very much shaped by her experience being very reserved and a bit aloof to outsiders, which reflects in their cultural mindset with a few exceptions, can be seen as the opposite as FFM's. A bit of a everyone pulls there own weight, where only as strong as our weakness link type beat, but is still very put a high value on community and helping each other out and doesn't tolerates disingenuous actions or using others for your own gain, FFM mount definitely has a similar mindset, but I just they MSK kingdom takes it to a whole new level.
SWK and MSK could have met before the alliance was made through SKW travels since I like the idea of the area around their territory still being very rough and general being impressed with him making it through it by himself. She could find the FFM citizens abit annoying and the rest of her subjects to an extent, but also admits they have a bit of a charm to them, especially with what lengths to maintain a status that enables them to have that type of freedom, especially after the recovery from the fire.
As for her and macaque's checkered past, I can definitely say for as close as macaque came to his goal in jttw, especially fooling the gods to an extent, that wasn't his first time, mix that and the culture of MSK kingdom, it isn't an surprise it ended the way it did. He was mostly born or introduced in low on the totem pole, since if there are likely other six earred macaques and you where just named six earred macaque, you weren't cared for, I'm sorry. Likely caused trouble was the last straw was likely him trying to gain some power with his usually stick and possibly got other hurt or did in the process and they just took him by all six ears and threw him out. I think what really made her antagonistic towards him was the early days of him and SWK relationship and the eventual fall out. When was very much enraged when she found out he was welcomed at FFM and her catching word of his fondness for SWK just made the fire worse. She most likely tried everything in the book to take him out of it, but it continued. And after everything was said and done, their mind was set on SEM.
They was upset a SWK for not taking their warnings, but her angry and vitriol lays with SEM. He was given a second chance in their he wasn't completely deserving of and gave him everything and more, but in SWK moment of weakness and need was the first to turn against him, if it met getting what he wanted damn how it effects everyone else and his actions during and after proved that to her. Even, if and when he makes amends and him and SWK start again, she's going to give him credit where it's due, but she's never going to go beyond that and takes everything his does at face value and with a handful of salt. And I think they're saying would be "new coat, same starving dog. It will become despite at the slightest hardship and will be willing to bite the hand that nurtures it, if that means a meal." They're trying to be happy for SWK, but as soon as SEM slips up or reverts back, she will make sure it will be his last.
On a lighter note, LOVE the Idea of her and Nezha bounding over their distaste of macaque and even help her nephew with the means to torture his stepdad😂 she's truly the mean, opinionated childless rich lesbian auntie that always has a special new weapon to make your stepdad's life a bit more of a living hell as a treat.
FUNNILY ENOUGH I SAW HER AS AS SHE/THEY GAY!! but i love the final idea yes yes so TRUE
I LOVE ALL OF THIS SO MUCH??? I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!
I actually played around a little and made her a reincarnation (Su Yijun) and.. yknow if this was the MSK I wouldn't mind! (though i made them more soft spoken and empathic and selectively mute so 👀!!!)
Here they are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the idea of her personality being more brash and outspoken in the past (like what you said) and then regaining that side of himself when he gets his memories back!
But i love this sm thank you for sharing it im FOAMING at the mouth at the idea of them being an uncle to Nezha PLEASE

Honestly I don't know if I'm remembering it wrong due to sleep deprivation, but out of everything in TOTK one of my favorite little details is that Zelda's eyes in her Divine Noodle (affectionate) form when Demon King's flames hit or graze her tremble a little, more so around the pupils than the iris
The implications are absolutely delicious when you think about it, either it's an expression of deep seated, primal fear which she would probably feel as a dragon even if her main instinct is to help Link, it makes sense she'd feel distressed when faced with a bigger predator if we assume the dragons actually work like wild animals (I mean have we looked at Demon King's full size and length? He absolutely overshadows her and he's clearly going in for the kill, what with that initial bite, he's clearly not only gunning for Link and for Hyrule but also for her specifically), because Zelda by nature is not a warrior, she will fight for her people and to defend her people but she's not one to start the conflict, she's not one to HUNT, so when faced with something actively doing so it makes sense she'd be a little afraid, just because you are made to fight the divine threat from birth doesn't mean you can't fear death in the process('Courage is not the absence of fear but the will to rise against it even when you're afraid' and all that), immortality or not and trust me I'm getting to that part-
And arguably the more interesting implication: that dragons can feel pain/get hurt from other beings in a similar status, which also puts their immortality into question. Because that little twitch can also be because the flames actually hurt her.
One thing I always found interesting in TOTK is the dragon skeletons deep down in the Depths, they're parallel with the Leviathan skeletons, sure, but the fact that the dragons that we know can come and go from the depths and that there are actual skeletons there makes me look at them side by side and think "Oh those are dragons" rather than Leviathans, which begs the question: what could have killed them if dragons are immortal and can live for such long periods of time? What could have killed them when none of our weapons (including the Master Sword mind you) can't hurt Naydra, Dinraal, Farosh and Zelda in a way that matters?
I think the best answer in this case is given to us by Zelda's reaction (assuming I'm not wrong and didn't just imagine it due to sleep deprivation) to the Demon King's flames.
Maybe, just maybe, what caused them to die was likely another dragon. Which means that dragons can actually die, just not through age or natural means, but have to actively be killed through the right means/being for it to stick. Which also tracks with a lot of divine lore in LOZ in general, Demise/Ganondorf only being able to be brought low by the Master Sword wielded by someone who posseses the Hero's Spirit (or that has become worthy of it is we see in Wind Waker) because it's quite literally a divine blade, Hylia actively giving up her immortal form to become a mortal but still slumbering/existing in a separate realm outside of time can also be considered a form of divine death, not to mention Bellum being in the process of killing the Ocean King in Phantom Hourglass. Divine beings have always had an element of mortality to them in LOZ, and it's not too much of a stretch to think that pattern might hold true in TOTK.
(Personally I think maybe the dragons we know might have killed the others in a territory/route dispute, if we go with the fact that a person loses themselves when they consume a secret stone and is guided by their base instincts/whatever goal they had before becoming a dragon, I don't think territory disputes would be all that far fetched, or some other goal which would motivate possible aggression.)
Although there's also the other possibility to consider: we get the armor set of the wild on the heads of those skeletons in TOTK, and we know for a FACT there was a hero before BOTW/TOTK Link, not only through the Ancient Hero's Aspect (which I have so many thoughts/headcanons about) but also through the tapestry in BOTW no matter what the heck happened to the lore in between games, you can still work with the information that there was a hero before BOTW/TOTK Link, and possibly one even before that one if we assume the armor set in the depths isn't from the Original Calamity Hero.
What I'm pitching here basically is, Original Calamity Link/another possible Link was likely a dragon slayer (not uncommon among Links, but how many Links killed an actual possibly divine dragon?), and possibly the one to kill the dragons in the depths and that maybe, just maybe we should have a game one day or a manga which either clarifies or debunks that- wait I know it sounds insane but listen stop walking away-
(Also if it's indeed a sign that Zelda feels pain it honestly ramps up Wild's/TOTK Link's motivation to kill Ganondorf WAY up because I too would want to eviscerate anyone who hurt Zelda even if she can't outwardly show it.
Also also- divine flame scars on Zelda where the gloom fueled fire grazed/hit her in her dragon form, you wouldn't be able to see it normally, but once she turns back into hylian they're there as another showing of how her time as a dragon will always stick and haunt her.)

hello its the Asmodeus anon from other fandoms me and a couple of friends were talking about Asmodeus and I brought up what you said about the children of the princes of hell, now if i found out my father was a demon and my mother a human was tricked... and I was also thinking of how the Obey me fandom treats Asmodeus.
I think a lot of people put Asmodeus down his character and his design, and Obey me does not do him enough justice.
Now if obey me wasnt a otome game I would like to see what Asmodeus we would have gotten, it is said that Asmodeus is the demon of lust and is therefore responsible for twisting people's sexual desires. It is said in Asmodeus Or, The Devil on Two Sticks that people who fall to Asmodeus' ways will be sentenced to an eternity in the second level of hell.
Asmodeus governs seventy two legions of inferior spirits. Now in D&D he is refered to a somewhat God. In Obey me he can charm people, like a trance like status, in C.C world he is an asshole, a demon powerful just under Lucifer and Samael.
in the book of tobit, Asmodeus is attracted to Sarah (i think in obey me case, Helene) and he slays her several husbands on their weddig night. But Raphael binds Asmodeus before he tried to kill another.
Asmodeus fled from Solomon's wrath and was forced to do his bidding in the book of Solomon and in the Talmud.
Some Catholic theologians compared him with Abaddon. Yet other authors considered Asmodeus a prince of revenge. (Which I think was quite ironic as I always thought Mammon would be a prince of revenge.
Hello again, anon!
I still don't really understand why Asmodeus is the least popular of the Obey Me characters. He's precious and I love him, so I don't know what that's about.
Asmodeus outside of Obey Me certainly has many different versions. They could have gone in all kinds of directions for him. And the interesting thing is that all of these different modern medias are taking the information about Asmodeus from the same ancient sources. I'm sure some of them use different information and I think in some cases the only thing they're using is the name itself, but there is a certain amount of history that's associated even with just the name.
Asmo in Obey Me especially seems to have just the name and the lust connection, but everything else about him seems to be completely unique to the game. If they weren't trying to make him a love interest, they definitely could have tapped into some of the more... well, demonic... stuff that he's done. Such as killing people and what not else.
I also think that there's a lot of room for fan interpretation of the demons' past. All of them have been alive for a long time, so we can easily fill in quite a bit of stuff if we want to. Like it's certainly possible that after becoming a demon, Asmo often went to the human world and ended up with a human/demon hybrid baby. I just imagine any children Asmo has as being incredibly cute.
But all of that would be headcanon territory since they don't give us all that history in the game. I don't think they could even if they wanted to lol. There's just too much of it.

What is an Oni? 🧟‍♀️
Tumblr media
At this point I believe we all know the history of Demon Slayer. Kamado Tanjiro, the eldest son of a charcoal seller that decided to enter the Demon Slayer cops to find a way to turn his sister, Nezuko, back to human, after Muzan turned her into an Oni after killing the rest of their family. But what exactly is an Oni? “After the death of Izanami, the female creator of Japan, Izanagi, her husband, and male counterpart, misses her so much that he goes to the nether land to retrieve her. But Izanami says that she has already eaten the food from that realm, implying that it would be difficult for her to return easily to this one. The food produced in the ither world has the power to make one stay in that world, so she tell him to wait and not look. (…) When Izanagi looks at Izanami, however, she is ugly, with maggots squirming and eight thunder deities growing around her entire body. Izanami is furious, probably because he broke the promise/taboo and looked at her changed appearance. Instead of bemoaning her fate and going back to the nether land quietly, she attacks him saying that he caused her undying shame.” - Reider,2010; When we think of an Oni, right know the image of a girl with hair half black half orange, pink eyes in a box with the personality of a cat comes to mind (or Michael Jackson, u choose), even for Japanese people. But it was not always like this. Sometime before 2016 (aka the release of the manga), when we said Oni the image of a “humanoid creature, with horns and fangs and clod in only a plea loincloth”, a terrifying wicked creature was probably the main image. I mean it is not that difference, but Oni were not always cute. Onis are part of the Yokai culture, a concept that was more or less always present in Japanese minds. During the Heian period [c.794-794] [Is it a coincidence that Muzan was turned into an Oni exactly during the Heian times? I don't think so] were going to find a lot of Oni themes in literature. In terms of depictions of said demons, we see them coming to life mainly during the Muromachi period [c.1338-1578], were emakimono [horizontal illustration handscroll] started to appear, followed by encyclopaedias during the Edo Period. Oni’s are probably the product of Japanese people’s fear of the natural disasters that were extremely common in the Japanese territory, for instance, lighting and thunder are strongly associated with then (what would explain a lotttttt, like I’m looking at you Kaigaku). Some even say that if kami aren’t worshiped enough, they will become Oni. The Kami were always related to the yang and the Oni to the yin [meaning the Kami related to the world of living and the Oni to the world of death]. “(…) their souls have nowhere to go and nobody worships them. So they linger in the air and cause various problems…” - Reider,2010; If one truly takes the time to think, there are some Kami that aren't that different from the mono [evil spirits], most of the time, the same characteristic would apply to both entities in terms of power, both were feared, but only one was truly respected. Also, there the theory that says that Oni where the product of the Humans that ended up on one of the Buddhist levels of hell, where Emma-O would turn them into horrifying servants. Other theory would say that a Human would turn into an Oni by committing horrible crimes.
Tumblr media
Needless to say, there are various depictions of Oni, they take different shapes depending on which belief we are looking at them either it being the Buddhist cosmology, Onmyodo [Ying yang beliefs], Chinese literature or Japanese imagination. Almost of the size of humans, sometimes taller. With sharp nails, horns, tusks. Big mouths, various eyes. Red or blue skin. Some say they can fly. Some say they have some animal parts. Some also say that a woman can also become n Oni when she is overcome with jealousy or grief. (Which explains the myth Izanami, and that man were always scared of woman, but funny enough the popular image of oni is normally male) Some eat children. Some eat the dead. Some eat souls. They wear loincloths made of the skin of great beasts. What all of this have in common is that they are all scary things. One of the biggest characteristics of the Oni is their huge desire for human flesh. It is said that they can eat a human in one gulp. Their transformative power, they can transform their grotesque forms into handsome man or woman allowing the victim to grown interest in them. Oni would have an extreme strength, some of them being talented sorcerers. Also, people that lived far away from the emperor, or had different customs, would be considered an Oni. People that looked different or thought differently from the normal Japanese were called Oni, this was especially common during the imperialism times. Emotions like anger, jealousy, infidelity, and lust were emotions that one would connect to Oni. But the question of “What are Oni” is actually a really tough question, since we can find a lot of variations of Oni in this huge catalogue. “[…] monstrous and cruel Oni, who eat the flesh of corpses, Oni who devour the living, Oni who murder, Oni who trick people, Oni who cause famine, sickness or plague; and there are humorous and charming Oni, Oni unthreatening they hardly seem Oni at all, totally defeated Oni, pity deducing Oni, etc” - Komatsu,2017; in fact this goes well with the catalogue of Oni characters that we have in the anime, the Upper-moons inclusive.
Tumblr media
The ambiguity of the concept of an Oni is something that was adapted in different times in history, but without fully losing indigenous beliefs against the foreign concepts. But some scholars say that what we associate to Oni today was not what they always were. The word simply means something big, and the Oni were a creature that did not show himself except for gathering of spirits were enormous forms were perceived, an invisible spirit. The most primitive form of Oni is said to be the spirits of the ancestors of the village. Oni was an umbrella term for all monsters. But from simple ancestors they would develop into something that the people feared. Yomotsukome [The soldiers that defended Izanami in the myth] are said to be the precursors of the current Onis. In Edo period an one would be a dark enigmatic force that would threaten all the classes. Even tho Oni themes were not discussed in the courts anymore, they would still linger on their personal lives, translated in the literal, visual and performing arts. For medieval Japanese people, Oni were real, they were always lucking somewhere, especially in people’s minds. They were real entities with real substantial bodies, that affected the lives of Japanese people. If they needed to make a day’s long trip, they would carefully plan the trip to never be on the road during the night. But the powerful image of the Oni gradually start to fall. Oni frequented both the urban and rural areas, always making trouble, causing fear. With the mass printing of books that had Oni histories and illustrations this once terrifying beings became an entertainment in the urban areas. Through the hands of the artists, Oni started to be transformed in different kinds of beings. In the Edo times, people were more scared of the samurai than Oni themself, these warriors were a living threat with their ritual, privileges and two swords. For urban residents, Oni’s were creatures of art and literature that flourished in nostalgia and futuristic imaginations. Oni stories started to have sex and violence on their stories and started to be told from their point of view in a kind of victimise way. "If one accepts the tenet that Oni impact the physical everyday lives of people in the culture from which they emerge, then it is relatively easy to make sense of the Oni’s functions within and influences upon the political events that drive Japanese history" - Reider, 2010;

Was thinking about Roubaul and how he has several similarities with Zera: they're both dead people tied to Illusion Magic who pretended to be alive for the sake of a young child. It makes me wonder if Zera actually WAS the ghost of Zera who got tangled up in Mavis's powerful Illusion Magic and became a mix of spirit and illusion. It would explain why she seemed like a fully sentient being with a will of her own. Plus, it draws interesting parallels between Wendy and Mavis. Thoughts?
That’s definitely a very fun parallel to look toward. I’d argue Wendy’s one of the more ‘fairy-like’ members, especially with the wind and wings, and the one-piece-dress silhouette they share. Also the child body. I think it’s kind of cute in a parallel of Zeref-Mavis and Natsu-Wendy too, they have the dynamic of a demon and an angel they have a soft spot for, though in different natures as a siblinglike relationship versus a romantic one. I do wonder what could be done with that.
Back on topic. I honestly always thought Zero was, in truth, the ghost of Zera having a bit more time as a spirit, because it’s just too sad to think otherwise. Imagine if all of Zera’s development from a spoiled child to a true friend,  her redemption, friendship with Mavis was all in Mavis’ imagination... that would be too cruel for me. I want to think Zera truly lived on as a spirit for a while to truly become friends with Mavis. The power of love can justify this much, right?
It’s fascinating to think of a heartbreaking Zera perspective, where she knows she’s a ghost being clung onto, and thus, in the first while, she refused to open her heart simply because she knows it can’t come true, and she didn’t want to disappear either, so she didn’t reveal the truth. But Mavis wormed her way into her heart anyways, and thus began their journey together as she watched over Mavis, knowing one day their happiness will come crumbling down. For Roubaul, it was simply a spur of the moment impulse, the desire to not want to see a child cry, that made him create all of his lies--- but eventually his lies were too far in to be revealed without hurting Wendy too much. I’d say they’re very similar, especially in the regard that they only finally passed on when they realized that Wendy and Mavis now have real friends, and didn’t need the lies anymore.
Realistically I think these parallels only occurred because Mashima saw how successful the Caitshelter reveal was, and wanted to do something a little similar-- and I love both of them, so I’d say it’s a good decision-- but I do wonder if we could continue these parallels without it getting in the way of Lucy’s parallels with Mavis.
I’d leave Fairy Glitter and tactician parallels to Lucy and Cana, but I kind of want to see Wendy dealing with Ankhseram. Wendy is, after all, a healing mage, something that treads the taboo of life and death. She could venture into the forbidden territory of wanting to revive someone for real. Give her a moment where her powers are truly useless and she’s devastated by it, and make her go to the lengths of trying to surpass the limits of her healing. This could tie into a Zeref-Mavis and Natsu-Wendy parallels as well, (it could give us more about Natsu being a literal revived being??) and it could give Zeref some meaningful action if we see him trying to stop her from making the same mistake he did.
I suppose it’s fine as it is with Wendy branching out toward other developments instead, because not every parallel needs to be a one-on-one comparison. I wish Tenrou expanded more on Lucy-Cana and Mavis-Zera, though!

DP HC - Tutelaries & Lares
Another idea I have is that I've always seen Danny as a Tutelary. Specifically a Lar, even more specifically a Lar Praestite, which is a Greco-Roman ghost. There are several ways to define it, but universally, it's a protector or guardian. Some are the ghosts of dead heroes that wish to continue protecting people, while others are straight up Hero Ghosts.
Some are referred to as Household Gods, which are minor gods under the Goddess of the Home & Hearth, Vesta/Hestia. They are meant to protect places & people, sometimes within a house or family, a.k.a. Lares Familiares, others a section of a road or crossroads called Lares Viales (I HC that crossroads within the territory of a powerful enough tutelary can’t be visited by Crossroad Demons; instead the local tutelary senses the attempted breach & is urged to deal with whatever idiot thought it was a smart idea to bring such a dangerous being to a protected area in whatever way the guardian deems pertinent), or communities/neighborhoods, Lares Compitalicii. There were those who protected the military, Lares Militaris, those that protected seafarers, Lares Permarini, & those that protect the fields, Lares Rurales.
As a Lar grows stronger, their area of influence does too, sometimes expanding to cover the range of an entire city-state, which are Lares Praestites.
I imagine that those allied with a Lar have ever so slightly better luck than otherwise, that Lares have a protective aura that only affects those who call the Lar their patron & are in distress. It wraps them in this blanket of "I'm here," "I'll be right there," "I'll fix it," or "Just keep calm, stay safe, & help wherever you can." Neutrals simply don't feel the aura, while enemies of a lower power or will than the Lar feel like they're being watched & it makes them antsier than usual.
Like, I imagine Tutelaries as being one of the few types of ghosts that don't go vengeful &, for the life of them, hunters can't figure out why the heck that is. Granted, Lares & other tutelaries typically keep their territory safe in more subtle ways, but normally Lares & other tutelaries also don't have physical bodies to interact with the physical plane with because they're usually just Earthbound Spirits.
Most ghosts have to feed on human energy when outside of the Zone, Spectra doing so by feeding directly on a person's misery causing them to sink even deeper into despair, thus making her a Wraith.
I see Danny, after coming into his own, being something like her antithesis in that he feeds indirectly off of the ambient positive energy in an area. He then replaces that energy with passive positive energy which humans feel & causes their moods to elevate slightly.
---
In a way, the more people who believe in Danny or have faith in him as a hero, the more they trust him & feel grateful for him & his services to the community, then the stronger his desire to protect &, retroactively, he himself will become. By ‘believe in,’ I don’t mean how one would believe in a god. More so how you trust doctors to heal you, firefighters to save you from fires, & policemen to save you from criminals. This also affects his area of influence, causing his aura & protection to stretch farther along with the boundaries of his territory.
Good things (as in luck-based) will be more likely to happen within these boundaries, but it won't stop bad things from happening. It's just part of life that you have to take the good with the bad & this is no different.
Lares also have a tendency to instill and/or amplify a sense of community, synergetic cooperation, & civil duty within an area & the people living there. Of course, even though these things are more likely to happen, it means nothing if people don't choose to act on them.
Tutelaries are just... Basically all-around, good things for a town or city. What's sad is a Lar whose been utterly rejected by the people their trying to protect. Those are the weakest sorts & generally don't have long to remain on Earth before fading.
Worse is a Lar that has lost their Pillars of Inner Strength in a tragic manner. The individuals that the Lar wished to protect above all others. Without these pillars, a Lar can become a regular ghost.
However, the worst of all is when a Lar not only loses it's Pillars, but is also rejected. It's at this point that they are susceptible to corruption. Turning them into the opposite of what they were meant to be. A horrible specter, like a hybrid between a poltergeist & a wraith, hellbent on chaos & destruction. Like a rabid animal that needs to be put down. It's no less sad than ever.
Basically, how Dan came into existence. Of course, there's more to it than just that, but this is the basics. Plus, the fact that Danny is not only half-ghost, but (at least in my HC) also completely alive rather than dead, half-dead, or a member of the Undead Legion(tm) also helps keep these bad things from happening.
---
Another thing that helps with my theory is the fact that Lares are typically depicted as sitting upon a throne with a dog resting at their feet (dogs being associated with watchfulness), wearing a chlamys or military cloak & crown, & wielding a Greek dory (spear), a Roman pilum (javelin), or a lance.
I tend to go with King!Danny, which would give him both a throne & a crown, as well as give him his own military. Not to mention that Danny has Cujo, which could end up bonding them & giving Cujo new powers of his own.
Cujo possibly being a Cú-síth (Pronounced: coo-she). Which are part of Irish & Scottish folklore. They are described as large dog-like creatures that have shaggy, green fur & are known to be as large as a small cow. They are also known for taking dying souls to the afterlife. So, they are a type of Psychopomp themselves.
However, he does not wear a chlamys or use a lance of any kind.

In a world far from ours, there were five kingdoms.
Everglade, home of the witches. The race blessed with magic and pointed ears, these people lived in the swamps where plenty of ingredients for potions laid hidden in the murky water.
The Burrows, home of Rabbitfolk. The fastest and luckiest of all creatures, the grassy plains above their burrows as the most prosperous land and has never had a single failed harvest
Carmine, home of The Mineralites. A race who’s bodies were made of almost every mineral imaginable, from rusty copper to shiny diamonds. They lived in huge caves and the walls were littered with pockets of crystals.
Rosewood, home of the fairies. The entire kingdom is protected by a prickly rose bush and the fairies live in the flower field within. Despite there size, one mustn’t underestimate them. The poisonous pollen they carry packs quite a punch.
And finally the most infamous of them all, Asmodeus. The kingdom of demons which housed foul villains and an even fouler leader. The kingdom that plaqued the others with war.
One day the other kingdoms had enough of Asmedous and it’s wicked ways. The rulers of the kingdoms gathered together four powerful crystals and together cast a magical seal over Asmedous.
Thus, there was peace but peace is never everlasting. In time, the four other kingdoms began to squabble over territory and resources. As the years went by, they forgot their former alliance and instead began to hate one another.
There was one attempt at peace. The four leaders went to a small village located equal distance from each.
This meeting would not go well. It would not be remembered by history as changing anything.
However, four children were to attend the meeting. The next heirs to the kingdoms and they had not been taught to hate just yet.
One of these heirs is named Daniel. He is the heir to Everglade, his parents are the king and queen of the kingdom.
Right now, one can see him sitting outside the hallway of his parent’s room. He is furiously muttering a spell from a book, his eyebrows scrunched up in concentration. A spell said to allow one to communicate with a conglomerate of spirits named Chat.
Then, the young lad stopped and leaned back against the wall with a sigh.
That didn’t work did it? I figured it wouldn’t.
Well, would Chat wish to speak to Daniel?
(Asks with Daniel are now open! Please note he’s currently a young lad but a timeskip will happen don’t worry!)

Here Lies the Abyss Pt. 13
Nightmares
Here Lies the Abyss Masterpost First: The Champion of Kirkwall Previous: Questions for the Divine
The party continues through the Fade.
Party comments:
Cassandra: Could that truly have been the Most Holy?
Sera: The Divine. Please say that was her. It was her, right?
Varric: I’ve never met the Divine. You think that was really her?
Blackwall: Do you think that was truly the Divine?
Hawke: Do you believe it was really her? The Divine, I mean.
Party comments:
Solas: We have survived in the Fade physically. Perhaps she did as well. Or, if it is a spirit that identifies so strongly with Justinia that it believes it is her, how can we say it is not?
Vivienne: Justinia was unarmed and unprepared. She could not have defended herself against the creatures of the Fade. Dorian: No demon would have been so helpful without asking something in return.
Vivienne: Justinia was unarmed and unprepared. She could not have defended herself against the creatures of the Fade. Whether this is a kindly spirit or a demon fighting its rival for territory remains to be seen.
Dorian: I have no idea. If it’s a spirit, it’s not acting like one. No demon would have been so helpful without asking something in return.
Alistair: I don’t know, to be honest. We survived here. Why couldn’t she? Whatever she is, she seems to want to help us.
Loghain: I doubt it. Our survival here is miraculous on its own. Whether she is a spirit or a demon, she wishes to help us… for the moment at least.
Stroud: I do not know. We have survived thus far. Perhaps she did as well. She seems interested in helping us. That much is clear.
Party comments:
Iron Bull: That’s great and all, but the Nightmare is the thing currently scaring the shit outta me.
Blackwall: And the Nightmare? From what she said, I don’t look forward to meeting it.
Sera: So she’s not real? Then the Nightmare’s fake, too, right? Right?
Diplomatic Hawke: And what of the demon she mentioned? This nightmare sounds dangerous. Humorous Hawke: I’m less concerned with her than I am with the Nightmare she mentioned. Aggressive Hawke: What about the demon? She called it the Nightmare.
Party comments:
Cole: It’s nothing like me. I make people forget to help them. It eats their fears. I don’t know if I could do that, but I don’t. I don’t want to. That’s not me. Varric: Relax kid. I don’t imagine anyone seeing much of you in the Nightmare. Solas: Peace, Cole. None of us mistake you for the Nightmare.
Varric: Sounds like it preys on fear. Stealing people’s memories. That’s low, even for a demon. Solas: Fear is a very old, very strong feeling. It predates love, pride, compassion… every emotion save perhaps desire. Be wary. The Nightmare will do anything in its power to weaken our resolve.
Varric: Sounds like it preys on fear. Stealing people’s memories. That’s low, even for a demon. Memories make us what we are. A monster that takes them away? I don’t want to think about that.
Solas: It is a fear demon, as I suspected, likely drawing on terrors related to the Blight. Fear is a very old, very strong feeling. It predates love, pride, compassion… every emotion save perhaps desire. Be wary. The Nightmare will do anything in its power to weaken our resolve.
Alistair: A demon that steals people’s fear… I’ve got a few that I wouldn’t mind losing, myself.
Loghain: A demon that feeds on fear. Despicable, even for a beast of the Fade.
Stroud: A demon that steals fears from the minds of men…
Alistair: But after what it did to the Wardens, it’s going to learn fear for itself. Loghain: After its corruption of the Wardens, I’ll see it pay. Stroud: After what it did to my fellow Wardens,  I pray we fins some way to strike it down.
They continue deeper into the Fade, and a deep voice emanates from an unknown source.
Nightmare: Ah, we have a visitor. Some [foolish little boy/silly little girl] comes to steal the fear I kindly lifted from [their] shoulders. You should have thanked me and left your fear where it lay, forgotten. You think that pain will make you stronger? What fool filled your mind with such drivel? The only one who grows stronger from your fears is me. But you are a guest here in my home, so by all means, let me return what you have forgotten.
They fight more demons.
Party comments:
Cassandra: What are those things?
Dorian: Be ready! I’m guessing those aren’t friendly, either!
Iron Bull: What the crap are those supposed to be?
Varric: Watch out! I don’t know what those are, but they’re coming our way.
The Nightmare continues to taunt the party.
Nightmare: Perhaps I should be afraid, facing the most powerful members of the Inquisition. (Laughs.)
Nightmare: Like Blackwall. Ah, there’s nothing like a Grey Warden. And you are nothing like a Grey Warden. Blackwall: I’ll show you a Warden’s strength, beast.
Nightmare: The Qunari will make a lovely host for one of my minions. Or maybe I will ride his body myself. Iron Bull: I’d like to see you try.
Nightmare: Sera, Sera, Sera… If you shoot an arrow at me, I’ll know where you are. Sera: Out of my head, bitch-balls!
Nightmare: What’s it like living as an apostate, Vivienne? Do you really think you’ll reclaim your power in the Circle… at your age? Vivienne: Not one word.
Nightmare: Are you afraid, Cole? I can help you forget. Just like you help other people. We’re so very much alike, you and I. Cole: No.
Nightmare: Greetings, Dorian…It is Dorian, isn’t it? For a moment, I mistook you for your father. Dorian: Rather uncalled for.
Nightmare: Once again, Hawke is in danger because of you, Varric. You found the red lyrium. You brought Hawke here… Varric: Just keep talking, Smiley.
Nightmare: Your Inquisitor is a fraud, Cassandra. Yet more evidence there is no Maker, that all your “faith” has been for naught. Cassandra: Die in the Void, demon.
Nightmare: Dirth ma, harellan. Ma banał enasalin. Mar solas ena mar din. Solas: Banal nadas.
Nightmare: (Laughs.)
More fighting, more small fears and demons.
Party comments:
Sera: That’s it, right? Not so bad. You’re not so bad!
Iron Bull: Guess this nightmare wasn’t such hot shit after all.
Blackwall: I expected worse.
Party comments:
Solas: These are but minor servants of the Nightmare.
Vivienne: These are lackeys. Worse could be coming.
Cassandra: Surely these are but the Nightmare’s minions.
Alistair: These are just his servants, I imagine.
Loghain: There are merely the demon’s foot soldiers.
Stroud: These foes are likely but servants of the true demon.
Party comments:
Iron Bull: Just let me have this moment to hope, all right?
Sera: I hate this place!
Blackwall: Pity.
More demons attack, Nightmare continues taunting.
Nightmare: Did you think you mattered, Hawke? Did you think anything you ever did mattered? You couldn’t even save your city. How could you expect to strike down a god?
Nightmare (Anders romance): Anders is going to die, just like your family, and everyone you ever cared about.
Nightmare (Fenris romance): Fenris is going to die, just like your family, and everyone you ever cared about.
Nightmare (Isabella romance): Isabella is going to die, just like your family, and everyone you ever cared about.
Nightmare (Merrill romance): Merrill is going to die, just like your family, and everyone you ever cared about.
Nightmare (Sebastian/no romance): You’re a failure, and your family died knowing it.
Diplomatic Hawke: Of course, a fear demon would know where to hurt us most. We must ignore it. Humorous Hawke: Well, that’s going to grow tiresome quickly. Aggressive Hawke: I’m going to enjoy killing this thing.
More demons.
Party comments:
Solas: Those were little fears, time manifestations spawned from the Nightmare itself.
Vivienne: Minor demons. Little fears, scurrying to serve the Nightmare and feed on its scraps.
Cole: Small fears, too small to shape the Fade themselves. Clinging to the Nightmare. Feeding on the bits it leaves behind.
Dorian: Smaller fears, I would wager, scavenging whatever the Nightmare leaves behind.
Hawke: Those must have been smaller fears, servants of the Nightmare.
Diplomatic Hawke: And they take the form of spiders, something so many fear. Humorous Hawke: And of course they look like giant spiders. Aggressive Hawke: And they just happen to look like spiders.
Party comments:
Sera: Didn’t see no spiders. I’d have taken bloody spiders.
Iron Bull: You saw spiders? Man, spiders would’ve been a massive improvement from what I saw.
Cassandra: Spiders? I see maggots, crawling in filth.
Blackwall: Spiders? That is not what I saw.
Varric: You saw spiders? I saw creatures corrupted by red lyrium.
Alistair: Spiders? Those looked more like darkspawn to me.
Loghain: Spiders? Those were darkspawn, not spiders.
Stroud: I saw a horde of hurlocks, not spiders.
Party comments:
Solas: Remember, we walk in the Fade. Demons of fear shape their appearance to unnerve each of us.
Cole: They want your fear, so they look how you feel.
Viviene: This is the Fade, my dears. Demons have no originality. They pluck their shapes from your thoughts.
Dorian: Ah, of course. The demons look different to each of us, personalized little terrors.
Hawke: The demons look different to all of us. They take on the appearance of something we fear.
Party comments:
Iron Bull: Well, now I feel better.
Sera: So… it’s in my head? Knowing is not helping!
Varric: Wonderful.
Cassandra: Well, that’s reassuring.
Blackwall: (Grunts.)
Next: Memories Restored

In the ethereal twilight of the Lost Woods, where the boundaries between worlds blur and reality bends to the will of the supernatural, the lone kitsune has been caught wandering in yokai territory
The whispers of the forest dance around her, murmurs carried on the chill breeze that caresses fur like the icy fingers of specters long forgotten. The trees themselves seem to lean in, their gnarled branches twisting into grotesque shapes that loom like silent sentinels in the darkness.
It is amidst this eerie tableau that the yokai of the Lost Woods converge, their forms shifting and shimmering as they emerge from the shadows like phantoms summoned from the depths of the underworld. They are the denizens of the Parade of One Hundred Demons, a procession of malevolent spirits and wicked creatures that haunt the dreams of mortals and yokai alike.
Their voices rise in a haunting chorus, their words a seductive melody that would tug at the kitsune's heartstrings with an otherworldly allure. They speak of power beyond imagining, of secrets whispered in the darkest corners of the earth, and of a place of honor among their ranks in the eternal dance of the yokai.
Tumblr media
Sionnach was no stranger to dangerous paths, often finding her curiosity trumping her fear when it came to treading through perilous territory, and the Lost Woods were no different. Catching their attention was no particularly difficult endeavor, but this forest was on an entirely different level of enticing, with the enticing whispers and scents and energies, and when they swirled and meshed together the way they did, as though they were woven into the very fog permeating the trees and grass itself, hanging heavily over them like an ironclad fox-wire. But true to their kin's reputation, this does little to deter the vulpine from investigating to their satisfaction, lithe paws carrying them lightly across the lush grass as they follow the whispers and murmurs tugging them along by the chest.
This unnatural pulling, however, doesn't go unnoticed by Sionnach, and they're aware that they're brazenly walking into territory not for them, as evidenced by their pert ears and twitching nose searching persistently for any guardians of this land that may not take too kindly to their intrusion. Tentatively, they pace in a wide circle or two, ears twitching and rotating as they listen for any denizens. And, after a few rounds of this, they locate the entities inhabiting this territory, staring at them intently though ruby-colored eyes, before they open their jaws to speak, seeking to make their intentions known in an attempt to mitigate any trouble they may bring upon themselves.
"I want for nothing from you and yours. I'm a wanderer, with no need for power or station. I am only hoping to see the world, and everything in it."
