#I have so many ideas of things I had wished had happened in Pokemon Legends Arceus

I know it's annoying but I'm not done thinking about Pokémon, especially Pokémon Legends Arceus. Like the game is already a breath of fresh air in the franchise but what's really frustrating is that I know it could have been the best pokemon game of all time if capitalism wasn't a thing and the Pokémon company let their developers actual time to make good games, rather than prioritizing the numbers of game coming out in short time.
Like they really really didn't need to have the 9th generation coming out this year, Legends Arceus could have had DLCs and I know people would have been all over it.
More than anything though, if Gamefreak developpers had as much time and means for Legends Arceus as the Legend of Zelda team had for Breath of the Wild, there would have been no need for a 9th generation to come out the following months it would have probably made enormous sales
I would rather wait for a well developed game that take me hours to finish then one that was barely scrapped together so the next one could be produced and so on.

In Pokemon Horizons, a lot revolves around Lucius and his 6 heroes...which I thought was a fun legend/myth/thing! So it made me wonder if I could possibly make a human mythological hero for the world as like...idk my own myth...I don't want to call it an oc but like a figure an oc of mine looks up to!? Imagine Friede asking you to join the crew and you learn about many different heroes like Lucius! And once you get a strong connection with a hero, then Friede and the rest will happily aid you in pursuing it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's mine that I came up with!
(Sorry I can't do a long format story like I wanted!)
Once upon a time there was a girl named Alisoun. She lived in a poor village, where many children raised themselves.
They often told tales of frightening ghost pokemon, angry psychics, dark pokemon, dragons, and even fae that came from the moon.
A day didn't go by where she heard "I guess another one held onto a Driftloon too long" or "Stantler put someone into a magical never ending sleep" or something of the sort.
Kids are always distrustful of what they can't explain, the result of this means it ends in false rumors like the evils of these types of pokemon.
Grass was simple, it grew from the ground, it was part of life! As was water, and fire with the weather. Rock, normal, fighting, even poison had an explanation.
But what where these types exactly and how could they be understood?
Alisoun decided to study these special types of pokemon and learn what puts the magic in the world. She had notes on everything! Abra to Zygarde with everything in between.
The distrustful kids started to mutter and gossip amongst eachother. "Beldam" they called her. Evil. Destroyer of the peace.
She didn't mind because she learned a lot about the magic in the world.
And one day as she fell into a deep sleep, she encountered a pokemon in the dream world.
"Cresselia" it called itself.
Although it looked nothing like the tales of old.
This Cresselia had shimmering blue rings and purple fur. Alisoun happily greeted the pokemon.
It enjoyed the girl's enthusiasm and stayed to listen to Alisoun's love of magic and her hopes to share it's joys with the young kids. Cresselia couldn't help but be touched with her love and devotion. Despite the merciless slanderous name they gave her, "Beldam" as if she were to bring evil and misfortunes to them.
She looked up to Cresselia, and asked if she could share this love through a dream to the rest of the village.
And Cresselia agreed.
It had an interesting idea! To swap the dreams of the children and pokemon. To live a while in eachother's shoes.
Soon the kids came to love magic and the name shifted. "Beldam of Benevolence."
She liked it, it felt like a paradox.
Alisoun was happy that the village came to love magic like she did, however, she didn't feel fulfilled yet, she felt that there was more to the world.
"Cresselia, you turned the living nightmares of these kids into joy, I want to continue doing that! Whenever someone finds themselves in a nightmare situation where all hope seems lost, let's turn it into joy!" She said.
Cresselia agreed.
It felt immense joy being with Alisoun.
Together they traveled as they bid the village goodbye.
Together with Cresselia they made new companions on the way. Sinistcha, Jirachi, and Meowscarada.
Alisoun along with her partners became known as "The Beldam's Seidhr Coven" each of them being a beacon to one of Alisoun's wishes.
"Spreading Joy"
"Making a hospitable Home"
"Giving everyone a gift"
"A guiding wishing star to whomever is lost"
The beacons are : Cresselia the beacon of Joy, Sinistcha the beacon of Hospitality, Meowscarada the beacon of Generosity, and Jirachi the beacon of Guidance.
...
(Should I elaborate on how she met the rest of her team and what happened after the met them all? 🤔)
Also, I got so into having my own mythologic figure in the pokemon universe I literally did everything I could to get a shiny Cresselia with the pretty blue rings and purple fur!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I saw one on gts for a Korean Koraidon...so...I made a whole new file, played through the entire game in Korean, which is a language I cannot speak or even remotely understand.
It look me from 7 am that morning to 2:05 am the next day XD
The hardest part was Rika's interview! Geez, I used the weirdest translator for it!
Warning for weird bs and the use of a word that can occasionally have sexual connotation when used in a sentence :
Tumblr media
Look at what I had to decipher with the weird translator XD
I used some of the English playthrough for context for the interview so I'm assuming it meant something "out of every gym you fought, which stood out to you the most/was your favorite" or something like that.
I actually failed the interview the first time and nailed it the second! XD
Surprised it didn't take me longer with such a bad translator!
But still! I was glad to get my Cresselia! :D
Now I have a playthrough entirely in Korean...I guess I'll get a Korean Ogerpon next???
Anyways! I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on making a mythic hero in the pokemon universe! If you have any ideas or already have one you made please reblog and tell me about it!!! I'd love to hear it!!!

20 Questions
tagged by both @toopunkrockforshul and @writingordinaryrealities so I guess I'd better do it LOL
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
18!
2. What’s your total AO3 words count?
202,063
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently only Greenwing & Dart by Victoria Goddard. In the past I wrote a teeny bit of Legend of Korra fic, and then one Check, Please! fic and one Pokemon fic.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
falling and falling and falling, A Beifong Woman's Guide to Getting the Girl, tender is the night, to face unafraid the plans that we made, and protective measures
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to, and I usually do immediately after I post a fic. (I always end up running behind, though.) I do so because I am genuinely SO grateful to everyone who reads and comments on my stories. Every comment is a gift.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
To call it angst is perhaps overselling the yearning happening there, but probably protective measures.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I had to go back and look at fics I've barely even thought about in years, but probably tender is the night, tbh.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope! I am not a popular writer. (thank god)
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have begun to dabble, though I don't know how to quantify it? it's smut. LOL
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I still have that unfinished Carol-inspired Check, Please! au. I'm probably never going to go back to it, but I maintain that the vibes were immaculate.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Don't think so!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not yet, but how cool would that be?
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No, and tbh the idea of doing so is intimidating as hell, but I'm sure it would be fun.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
What do you mean "favorite"? I'm supposed to pick? I can't even pick a current favorite, considering I'm writing a whole polycule of various ships for G&D and I love them all.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I've accepted that my older unfinished works are going to stay that way, but sometimes I do think about The Journey. The end of that fic was going to involve Jinora and Opal leaving the Eastern Air Temple, to be followed by a sequel where they travelled to Zaofu, then the Southern Water Tribe, and then through the Fire Nation. The third story in the series would have brought them to Republic City, where they would establish Air Temple Island. The story as I began it just had too many plot holes, though, and I ended up losing interest in the primary romantic relationship.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I do a decent job with pacing. It turns out that I'm good at planning out a cohesive narrative that will play out over the course of a series; working out the snags is part of the fun. I like when unnoticed details are given greater/changed meaning or depth later on. (I learned that from @ourimpavidheroine!) Oh and my friends say I write pining well, LOL.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Figuring out plots driven by anything but the characters' emotional beats. (This is why I've written thousands of words of fanfic this year, and simply cannot get an original novel out of the planning stages.) I so wish I could write a complicated political plot, or a mystery, but I think those things are beyond me. Weaving in description alongside dialogue is also tricky for me, I always feel like I fall into using the same phrases over and over.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I don't speak any other languages well enough to do it, but it would be very neat.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Pokemon, *way* back in the day.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
*gasp* How dare you make me pick just one. I guess it has to be hello, my old heart, though. I just am so proud of that fic. It's not just that it's the kind of thing that I've dreamed of writing for a long while (slowburn, lots of yearning, LONG) but that I managed to do it during a summer where I was struggling with just about everything else in my life. I'm very fond of the world it's set in, and I have so many plans for both prequels and sequels to it.
I'm tagging @ourimpavidheroine, @assistant-blogkeeper, and anyone else who thinks this would be fun! (no pressure to play along, though <3)

The Nintendo direct wasn't too shabby. Not quite what I was expecting, but not entirely in a bad way.
Monster Hunter Stories 1 port
Epic Mickey Remake
Gundam Breaker 4
Endless Ocean Luminous/3
Penny's Big Breakaway
Out of all of these I probably want Gundam the most, simply because I wish I could get into Gunpla building as a hobby but I am just way too broke for that. New Gundam Breaker was kinda shit in the rest of the aspects, but I did enjoy messing with the parts a lot.
Epic Mickey is another pleasant surprise since I thought Disney REALLY wanted that game gone. I really wanted it for the Wii, but other things kept coming up, so I'm curious about it.
Endless Ocean isn't really a game I want to play, but I love the vibes and have pleasant memories from when I used to watch Game Grumps play the games eons ago. Multi-player could be fun to watch, and I love the idea of seeing extinct AND fantasy ocean life.
Otherwise, I was expecting Hi-Fi Rush after the whole shebang with Microsoft recently and I thought we were getting Rare Replay when I saw their logo, but sadly that's not a thing- and I was not expecting Pocket Card Jockey (mainly because its such a mid game i forgot it exists like i do the rest of their games) when I heard Game Freak would be here, although being fair I genuinely forgot Pulseman was already in NSO, and there's not really anything non-Pokemon that's noteworthy other than Project Bloom that I'd be curious about from them. A bit disappointed we still did not get a Xenoblade X port (I mean, Monolithsoft is a partner, right?), nor ports of a ps2/3ds Dragon Quest game, but hope isn't totally lost, right?... right?
Although it does surprise me they had the balls to dangle Mother 3 as a Japan exclusive NSO port. I was mad at first too, but then I saw a convincing argument: apparently the ost is a western lawyer's legal nightmare with samples and straight up copies of other works. Not to mention, from memory, there's a lot of questionable decisions that modern Twitter and Tumblr definitely wouldn't be normal about and cause problems over on any side of the argument.
Oh well, we still have that one ROM that was literally localized by real localizers as a passionate fan project, so if you're still waiting, 1. Stop, 2. A. Find a gba emulator and find the ROM, cuz you ain't getting it unless you can speak Japanese. Or 2. B. Go watch a Let's play of it. It's free, and most smart phones or pcs should be able to run it without issues.
Anyway that was the direct in a nutshell. Now we await for the Pokémon Presents (can I just say how much I hate that name? Can we just call them Directs again?) next week, and let's be honest, people are probably going to be mad one way or the other either at GF, TPC, or be like Joe and be mad at the community for existing in general (like usual) and act like he's surperior for unquestionably kissing The Pokémon Company's billionaire asses. Whatever happens, whether Unova or Johto get remakes at all in the ILCA or Legends style, a surprise (and pointless after Indigo Disk) second wave of SV DLC, or whether they remember they have Mystery Dungeon or any of the many other side games fans have been begging for again, I'm sure we're all going to be disappointed one way or another when they spend 70% of the direct on mobile games.
Anyway, that's my take.

So I beat Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Spoilery talk under the Read More.
I had a good idea when I first saw the teaser for the game that I’d probably enjoy it, and I’m glad to say that I did, indeed, have a great time! While there weren’t as many new Pokemon as a new region, seeing each new one was always a treat, especially for regional variants I hadn’t even thought about existing, let alone expecting to appear. And I had the fortune of seeing some for the first time as Alpha Pokemon, which added to the amazement as I hid in the nearest patch of grass or fled as fast as Wyrdeer could carry me. The Ride Pokemon that weren’t shown in the lead up to the game were pretty cool, especially that Sneasel variant that I’m not able to remember the name of right now; I honestly had to laugh to see that the way to scale cliffs was to hang out in a basket on a Pokemon’s back as it climbs the mountain (or tree, as I accidentally found out) for you. Your eyes even are visible in a hole in the basket, which adds to the humor a lot.
I’m glad to say that I got to try training a lot more new Pokemon than I did in Brilliant Pearl, and finally got around to adding Dialga to my team! ... At least for now. I had an Alpha Goodra on my team before, at least for a little bit, and I might switch her back in, but on the other hand, seeing Dialga stomp on ores for me is oddly funny. While I had planned on some team members - Cyndaquil for sure, even when I worried about not liking whatever it’d evolve into for the regional evolution, Hisuian Braviary, and definitely a Luxray - others were spur of the moment, such as that Stunky that I got out of the paddock after hearing that the area I was heading for was rumored to have lots of ghost type Pokemon. It was a false alarm, as it turned out, but she turned out quite helpful.
As delightful as my team this game was, I found myself growing just as attached to the characters. Having the main character have dinner at the end of every major mission with the rest of the Survey Corps team just made me more attached to them. I grew to enjoy going out with missions with Adaman and Irida, to the point where I had a hard time choosing who to team up with in the last third or so of the game. Only the fact that I liked Dialga more than Palkia led me to choose Adaman, and even then I still felt bad for having to choose between them. At first I honestly thought Cyllene didn’t care about my character at all, but when things take a turn for the worst and she shows that she cares about them, I couldn’t help but smile. I do wish we’d gotten to see more of the rival than the tutorials, the occasional battle, and dinner - perhaps they’d be involved with something involving crafting at the base camps - and seen more of their arc of learning to battle with their Pikachu. It was brought up, but kind of dropped halfway through the main story. Maybe it continues in the post-game or if you complete enough requests, though.
I don’t know what I expected storywise when I started the game, but I wasn’t really expecting all the probably deliberate parallels with the Mystery Dungeon games. I thought it was only just the beginning and the whole natural disaster part that was similar, and that the main character joining Galaxy Team just like the main character of Explorers joining Wigglytuff’s Guild was a bit of a stretch, but then the last third of the game happened, and things felt a lot more deliberate then. I even swear that at Cogito’s house you could hear parts of one certain Mystery Dungeon track in the background of the music that played there. It was so strong that at the end of the game, where your character pauses at the top of the temple as everyone goes to leave and looks at where the time-space distortion used to be, I caught myself thinking, “Do not turn into light, do not turn into light, at least wait until the festival before disappearing” because it felt like such a natural moment for that to happen. They didn’t, but I do kind of wish that they’d delved more into the fact that the rift disappeared, leaving the character stranded. The possibility of that happening was mentioned exactly once and never lingered on again. Although I haven’t caught them all yet; that and other unresolved issues brought up and never mentioned again - Ingo being stranded there too, the reason why Arceus brought the player and maybe Ingo to get humans and Pokemon to coexist instead of recruiting someone else in that time period, the past hero with the ten Pokemon that Arceus blessed and their connection to the main character - might be tied up with a bow once you catch Arceus. Maybe that’s when the “fades to light, then reappears so you can continue playing” thing happens, which I’d be very heartbroken over because I grew attached to this little found family of a professor, a teenager from the village who wants to be a better trainer for their Pokemon, and a time traveler who fell out of the sky and their shared love of potato mochi.
If in the future there’s a series of Pokemon Legends games that cover pasts of other regions, I honestly would be very happy. I’m still thinking about Zacian, Zamazenta, and all the questions their backstory never answers, like what faraway region they’re from and if the kings were more involved in their story than the tapestry showed. Even this game provides possible places to delve more into, such as about the legendary hero whose ten Pokemon were blessed by Arceus. Even games set in a region’s distant future would be fun, seeing how our character’s actions changed a region in a more long-term way than Black and White 2 showed. I only wish that if they do a) they tweak the battle system so at least you get the chance to change Pokemon in trainer battles after the other trainer’s last one faints, or at the very least give you a chance to select an action, and b) if they allow you to catch Pokemon while surfing again, to make the Pokemon more easily visible, and not punish the player for not being able to sneak up on them.
Overall, this was a very fun game! I’m going to try my best to complete the Pokedex and see the rest!

Video Games: Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Aizen Kunitoshi, Atsushi Toushirou
Oh ho, a fun lil headcanon set like this is so funnnn~!
Warnings: Not much I suppose?
Tumblr media
Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki
Sweet MuMu adores video games where we can travel the world. Fantasy world, modern world, past, present, future, he don’t care! An open world game will suit him best! There’s so much to do, and like a lil puppy, MuMu want’s to explore it all!
Extra bonus points if there’s a part of the game where there is something to do with the ocean. He adores the sea after all! Boats, driving them, exploring the ocean, exploring the unknown, oh this TouDan will drink that shit up.
The games that come to mind are Assassin’s Creed: III, Black Flag, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Why? Most of them deal with exploring new lands and some of them deal with piloting ships! III, Black Flag, Odyssey, Origins, Valhalla to be more specific. Syndicate has guns and classy fashion. A little too much for Mutsunokami but he loves playing with the guns in the game - they are very similar in make to his own after all. he also rly likes the sea shanties in odyssey because i rly like them too
If Mutsunokami wants to relax and not play Assassin’s Creed where he goes around stabbing everything that moves, he will play Subnautica or Abzu or Journey to relax. Maybe even Animal Crossing! He loves the cute little animals but I personally think that games where he can just explore the world and meet new people and learn lore just make him happy the most.
Games MuMu would never play are horror games or anything with spiders in them. So Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are out. He loves the idea of gun-toting protagonists but nope, nope. Spiders? Bye fam.
Now that I think about it, he would just be Blathers. He can play Animal Crossing but Gods help him the minute he sees a spider in that damn game. “I THOUGHT THIS WAS A PEACEFUL GAME, WHY ARE THE SPIDERS TRYING TO KILL YOU” cue controller thrown at the television.
Oh MuMu adores party games! Can’t play Smash Bros or Mario Kart for shit. Watch him pay too much attention to the background and yeet himself off of the stage because he saw something shiny. He can kinda play though, but again he gets distracted the most. Buuut ask him to play Mario Party with the rest of the swords and damn right he will play!
Can and will make video games turn into a drinking game. MuMu adores competitive gaming with the rest of the citadel. Will start taking bets on who is gonna win and lose, and sure he may be a pouty loser but he’ll be fiine. But damn right he’ll yeet a tantou to ensure his win. No he won’t he’s not that cruel.
Mutsunokami also adores rhythm games! Taiko no Tatsujin because of Don-chan and the idea of playing with a lil taiko drum as a controller. He’s very much into music after all. There are times when he stops playing a game to just listen to the music and take it all in!
A guilty pleasure game he plays is probably Ghost of Tsushima. No he’s not checking out Jin’s ass whenever they go to a hot spring, what are you talking about? MuMu enjoys it because sometimes just going back to your roots and stabbing a ho is just what you need. dear khotun khan, eat shit
Aizen Kunitoshi
Aizen is also super big on rhythm games. As said above with Mutsunokami, Taiko no Tatsujin will be a favorite of his. He has a secret collection of Don-chan merch, no one is stopping him damn it. Just fucking tRY and take away his precious Don-chan(s). The only ones that can touch his prized collection are the rest of the Rai swords, other peeps he is close to, and maybe you if you two are close/you ask nicely. Get him some Don-chan pajamas and he’ll cry.
Aizen is also pretty good at fighting games, Street Fighter coming to mind because he adores over the top bullshit and the colors! The colors! He mains Ryu though, but he’s more than willing to try new characters!
He’s also pretty competitive at times, so he would adore playing fighting games with the rest of the swords at the citadel. Hotarumaru and he are always playing Smash Bros or Mario Kart, which ends up with a lot of broken controllers. Hotaru has been slightly banned from planning highly competitive gameplay though.
Other games that I know Aizen will be into will be Animal Crossing when he wants to relax. He loves the little yearly festivals and events in the games and it kinda mirrors how life works in the world. Of course he adores Digby and Isabelle, and has threatened Tom Nook with Hotarumaru before. “Don’t you cheat me you stupid tanuki, don’t make me get my brother in here.”
Games that Aizen cannot play are puzzle games. He doesn’t mind them, he just finds them really boring. He watches Akashi play them sometimes but even then, Akashi will conk the hell out. If you play them and have Aizen on your lap watching, Aizen will be amazed at how you are so good at them!
Aizen cannot deal with horror games or sad emotional games. He’s pretty emotional himself and will need a lot of hugs after. He will refuse to play Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons as they remind him of Hotarumaru and himself a lil too much. Horror games is because he’s too scared to. Hotarumaru doesn’t mind them, he likes playing them while Aizen and Akashi cling on to each other and scream in terror.
Aizen also loves games that not only have great music but the visuals and colors just catch his eye. Katamari Damacy comes to mind and he loves the main character a lot. The music! The colors! Ohh man its the best.
A guilty pleasure game he would love is the monster catching genre, Pokemon is an idea but he also loves Yokai Watch. Yokai Watch feels a lil more closer to home, plus Yokai Watch had a crossover with Taiko no Tatsujin! He immediately wasted no time and effort to try and recruit Don-chan. iM STILL TRYING TO GET DON-CHAN ON MY TEAM U LIL SHIt but also im rly biased towards yokai watch and digimon
This lil guy will also love collecting plushies of any characters of the games he plays! Don-chan is his first choice of course but catch him and Hotarumaru in a little cuddle puddle with 70 other plushies from various games!
Most of all, Aizen loves games where he can play with others! Friends, family, you! It doesn’t matter to him! He’ll drag you from your office to relax and just cheer anyone up with something fun! “Come play with me! You promised after all, master! I’ve found a rEALLY cool and fun game to play together with Hotaru!” bless him he’s trying his best
Atsushi Toushirou
Like Aizen, Atsushi will mostly enjoy multiplayer games because of his multitudes of brothers, younger and older. He’ll pick out games like Mario Party, Mario Kart, classics for sure. But then there’s games like Wario Ware or Smash Bros. He wants to play games with as many people as possible! He loves it when he can play with you and his brothers!
If Atsushi wants to play something more solo, he will play something along the lines of Cooking Mama. Houchou got him addicted to it gee i wonder why Houchou loves the game so much but Atsushi just loves the dishes that he can prepare and it almost feels like he can cook! He once tried to follow exactly what Cooking Mama did in the game for cooking once uh...it did not end up. But none the less, he loves the colors and the music of Cooking Mama!
He is also a big ol fan of life simulation games, Animal Crossing being his favorite. Again he and his siblings can all play together and the calm atmosphere almost lulls him to a peaceful sort of sleep that he adores the most. He loves the relaxing vibe and sometimes wishes to live there, wherever the hell these guys live.
Next to Yagen, I think Atsushi will lowkey adore horror games. Yagen does it just to get a rise out of the rest of his siblings and Atsushi is kind of the same. Sure Yagen finds the most gorey and atmospheric based horror to scare the crap outta his siblings, Atsushi will probably play the more jumpscare based horror games just to get a scare outta them too! What good is a horror game if you’re not scared as well??? Damn right he’ll wait until it’s night time to play these games!
Atsushi also does love RPG games! Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, come to mind first. He just loves going on big adventures! Exploring new worlds, meeting new people, learning new things! Bonus points if the game has a really emotional story, catch him and his brothers crying about whatever happens on screen.
Atsushi has a secret fondness for rather childish games. Pokemon, Yokai Watch, so on and so forth. YEs he’s trying his best to be mature and stuff, supporting you his saniwa and all, but sometimes he just wants to be himself and have fun! He has a few mascot plushies from his brothers too, shhh.
Atsushi is also terrifyingly amazing at turn-based strategy games. Mario + Rabbids being a favorite because of the colors and overall fun atmosphere. Fire Emblem is a close second. He knows exactly how to keep his units and characters alive, what upgrades to give them, so on and so forth. “General! Come look at what I did in my game! Wouldn’t it be cool if we could also do something like this?!” he says that as Rabbid Luigi yeets himself off of normal Mario and soars through the air like a bird, landing gracefully without hurting himself. Atsushi no.
He’s the most likely of the TouDans to get into the indie gaming scene, looking at new and upcoming content creators to see what they make! He wants to support them as much as he can!
He’s also one of the more responsible of the TouDans in terms of games. Others will start buying them on a whim but Atsu knows there’s a budget to be had! He isn’t as money crunching as Hakata or anything but he knows his damn limits!
Another game genre he’s secretly into are visual novels. He loves the budding relationships between characters, romantic or not, he loves seeing where they end up! It’s like he’s growing with them!

So the Pokémon anniversary a couple of weeks back showed two very different takes in the future of Pokémon. What are your thoughts on the Sinnoh remakes and Legends Arceus?
I really hate the Sinnoh remakes. It’s not that I hate the chibi style (I mean, Pokemon started that way), but like--remake the game but just make it “the 2D game but 3D”???? Why? And it feels disrespectful because every other remake has used the style of the other games they were in (so FRLG looked like RSE, HGSS looked like DPPt, ORAS looked like XY, and most of the time, the remakes looked outright better than the style they were based on). It’s a shame because I really wanted to see an improvement from Sword and Shield, which didn’t engage/interest me and... I don’t know if this will make total sense, but instead of an upgrade from Sun & Moon, it feels like an upgrade of XY? Like, XY’s problems but with better proportions.
I’m cautiously optimistic for Legends Arceus, if only because, “YES, AN ACTUALLY SINGLE GAME INSTEAD OF THE DUAL STUFF THEY KEEP PULLING” (which was absolutely unacceptable when they got to console stuff). I actually didn’t notice the framedrop issues because I’m used to running games on a laptop that clearly isn’t made for them, so I’m sort of immune to it. I haven’t decided if I’ll get it for sure but the premise intrigues me and I really like Arceus.

How is Moroha the Marinette of Inuyasha?
- needlessly tormented by the narrative
- things that other people do to her don’t get addressed
- people closest to her are usually awful
- awesomely overpowered yet narrative will constantly have her screw up and put her down/make her feel worthless
- gets sidelined/ignored in favor of other characters

In one of your Askplosions(don't remember which one, sorry), you said that you can't stand the Tomboy Lesbian stereotype, which, to be honest, I kind of agree with. But what about Tomboy Bisexual? I guess it's not as bad if a female character's tomboyishness/girlishness isn't used as a clue as to her sexuality(like "you know she's a lesbian because she's BUTCH!!!"), but there aren't really stereotypes associated with being bi that are based in masculinity or femininity(due to bi erasure sadly.).
kfdngjdfgd I like how you had to had that bis don’t easily get stereotypes as much due to bi erasure because you’re absolutely right.
“Tombis” are fine, I have no problem with them. Any stereotype to avoid then are just the general bi stereotypes.

I was just reading TV Tropes' page for "Gratuitous Princess" and holy shit the sexism on display here is really nauseating. It's exactly like "Improbably Female Cast"(there are too many female characters here and it's uncalled for, despite it being okay for characters to predominantly be men), in that it's basically insulting any story that has anything to do with princesses at all by saying it "isn't needed". TV Tropes has always had a way of including underhanded sexism when talking about female-dominated/aimed works or tropes having to do with female characters or anything designed to appeal to female audiences; the more feminine, the more ridiculed it is by TV Tropes, despite claiming to believe otherwise.
Similar to how I complained about their "Improbably Female Cast" trope, Gratuitous Princess claims that stories with "more princesses than is plausible for the setting" are this trope because any abundance of princesses is somehow bad or doesn't make sense, even if it would make sense for there to be that many princesses/all the characters to be princesses.
For example, they claim that an entire school of princesses is implausible and "gratuitous", but if the school is intentionally meant to be a "royal" school for girls to learn to be princesses(whether or not they were actually born into royalty), then it's not actually gratuitous and makes sense within the setting! If the story follows a monarchy, it makes sense to have lots of princesses, especially if it's aimed at young girls.
If the main characters are a group of normal girls who wish they were princesses and the story follows "fantastical" versions of their imaginary princess selves, then that also makes sense, especially if the story has "every girl can be a princess" as their moral or something. There's nothing wrong with stories like that, but TV Tropes claims they're unnecessary because anything involving princesses(stuff little girls like) are automatically shoehorned in.
Just look at the examples, which are all written in an unnecessarily derogatory way, with statements such as "for some reason, she's called a princess", or "the rulers should be queens, and yet they're princesses"(when it COULD just be a principality; do your research, TV Tropes), or "how this has anything to do with princessing is never explained", as if the mere fact that she's a princess is something bad or worthy of scorn.
They even claim Sailor Moon is this trope when Naoko Takeuchi simply wanted the story to revolve around a group of girls who just so happened to be reincarnated princesses who ruled over their respective planet. It's supposed to be a girl power wish fulfillment fantasy that appeals teenage girls by showing all the girly things they like as implements of power!
And yet TV Tropes disses it for just that, because anything that's made to appeal to girls can't ever make sense. Now, if they were complaining about how, in aggregate, shows about princesses or in which every female character is a princess can reinforce the notion that the only way for a female character to be noteworthy in any way is if she's a princess, then that would be different, but that's not what's happening. They're dissing princess stories just for existing. No matter what, TV Tropes always finds something bad to say about female-driven storylines.
Always. Just look at their page for "Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls", "Pony Tale", and "Frills of Justice". There's always a mean-spirited undertone, as if they hate the very idea of these stories and narrative devices existing just because they're designed to appeal to little girls. I'm not saying you're never allowed to critique those stories the way you would any other, it's just the WAY TV Tropes does it. They're not critiquing, they're sarcastically mocking. They're going about it all wrong! And it's especially obvious when they never do it to boys' shows, even though those shows often do have messages that can actually be harmful and even ignore or objectify women. But I guess the latter is why they don't care. Boys will be boys, am I right?
Oh joy, internalized/intentional misogyny!
Ugh, I’ve been lucky enough to stay away from those articles on TV Tropes. I hate it when opinions clearly start seeping into the article.
For example, “Kiss Your Hand” (I think that’s the name) sums up the whole “hand kissing” thing and goes into detail about how nowadays it’s considered more uncomfortable/creepy, which isn’t necessarily an opinion but just detailing how the times have changed.
AND JUST LET US FEMALES HAVE GIRL SHOWS WITHOUT MAKING BACKHANDED COMMENTS.
It’s the same thing with stuff like “chick flicks,” y’know? Maybe it’s just been having to hang out with my father and hearing him make dumb blond jokes and talks about how chick flicks are boring/bad but UGH, I’m sick of it.

Hi, so I was thinking about what you said about how there aren't words for guys who act either masculine or feminine, and I agree, it's totally unfair, but technically feminine boys are called janegirls(or femboys, I don't know if that's specifically an LGBTQ+ term or not, so excuse me if it is, but I've heard it used this way before), or tomgirls(even though last time I checked, the term "tomgirl" referred to either a girly tomboy or a tomboyish girly girl, but I digress).
As for masculine guys, I'm not so sure there's a term for it, I guess since deviation from masculinity is less acceptable for men than deviation from femininity is for women(because, you know, femininity=lesser. ;(), although there IS the term "macho"...but that tends to be used in a derogatory sense nowadays. I've also heard "boys' boy", "manly man", etc. TV Tropes has a trope called "Sensitive Guy and Manly Man" as the male counterpart to Tomboy and Girly Girl. So I guess there are terms.
I also just wanted to add that the term "tomboy" technically was originally a male phrase to describe a young boy who was boisterous, loud, mischievous, and out-of-control; in other words, a misbehaved, trouble kid. I don't know how or when it got attributed to girls, I think there was the term tomgirl at one point(though now it's just used for an in-between type of girl), but even that is barely used anymore. Not sure where or when the term "girly girl" came about, though, sorry to say. ;(
Yeah, that’s true. I’ve honestly never heard the term “janegirls” before, but I’d prefer if a “““masculine”““ girl was just called “tomgirl” instead. It feels less like “girl acting like a boy” and--yeah, calling a girl one thing or another just makes it look like they’re “““different”““ from “““normal girls”““ and I just roll my eyes.

Hi, I know the post you're talking about(in your fourth non-ml Askplosion) about a boy who related more to female characters! It was on BoredPanda and it was by Damian Alexander(it can also be found on his official Tumblr), and it was called "Guy Illustrates How Boys Develop Sexism From Seemingly Small Interactions With Adults" and it was all about how he loved female characters like Matilda, Alice, Mulan, Dorothy, Anne of Green Gables, and The Powerpuff Girls, and was routinely made fun of and discouraged from liking them, even from the teacher, who assigned everybody a paper(I mean not really they were probably in pre/elementary school but whatevs) about a fictional character they looked up to, but wouldn't let Damian write about Matilda, even though she let girls write about Spiderman, Harry Potter, and Peter Pan. And he basically talked about how this kind of societal attitude conditions boys to see girls as inferior and not worthy of being looked up to. It's really interesting.
Thank you! Now people can maybe go read it~

So you talked about how shows for women are considered lame and overdramatic, while shows for men are allowed to sexualize women and still be seen as good because they're MANLY, and it just reminded me of how TV Tropes has a page called "So You Want To Write A Shonen Series" and one of their points was literally that since teenage boys are horny, they'll relate to a male lead that pervs on girls and peeps on them dressing, but that you shouldn't have the girl be aware or actually hit the boy, because that has Unfortunate Implications. What were those Unfortunate Implications according to TV Tropes, you ask? Double Standard Abuse: Female-on-Male. Wow. So basically they're saying it's perfectly okay for a boy to sexually harass a girl and show absolutely no respect for her privacy because it's what "all" teenage boys want to see/do, but the second a girl actually defends her agency it's a bad thing, and they have the NERVE to say it's sexist against BOYS on top of that. Ugh. I just...
S...sexist against boys...
I can’t--I just--
Also, cue the girl punching/hitting and then the girl is immediately considering “aggressive” for defending herself from being perved on, and even if people say that the girl didn’t deserve to be perved on, they’ll be like, “bUT SHE DIDN’T HAVE TO GO tHaT fAr.”

I just realized something: the term "uncanny valley" literally comes from the Japanese words "bukimi no tani", meaning we LITERALLY wouldn't have the English term without the Japanese one. So, yeah, tropers can shut the fuck up now about tropes having Japanese names because "no one will know what it means!". -_-
These people DO know that words in the English language are compromised/inspired by a bunch of other languages, right???

Hi, I'm the Madoka salt anon. And I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry for bombarding you with all those asks. I didn't mean to be a "monster", I guess I just got carried away because, let's face it: there aren't a lot of people who dislike this show. Almost everyone glorifies this show as feminist empowerment while dismissing other Magical Girl shows as lesser than or somehow less feminist despite being written by women for women. These people won't give female authors the time of day and so when a man shows up suddenly they jump on the Magical Girl Fan bandwagon and praise it for doing what the genre has already done.
And when you do hear a different opinion, that person gets told off, insulted, blocked, downvoted, whatever because how dare you hate this show written by men for men rather than the stuff written by women for women? I once saw someone on Quora ask why Madoka was so popular when all it did was use the cliche "time loops" concept in so many other plots, and the response was literally "You didn’t know what you were looking at, so mistook your opinion for relevant commentary."
Let that sink in. If you don't agree with people who like Madoka Magica, it's because you're simply too dumb to understand how deep and complex it is, and your opinion doesn't matter. I've also heard the similar "You have no idea what you just watched" or "You're not smart enough to understand it" or "It's too complicated for you" nonsense and I hate it. Because most of what Madoka does isn't even that twisted or hard to understand; it's relatively simple when you look at it. The show just makes it dark. Monsters stealing energy from teenage girls? Sailor Moon did that and did it better(and didn't just go after teenage girls/women, so it wasn't based off sexism and "teenage girls are hysterical"). Hardships of being a magical girl? Girls uniting against evil? Female friendships/romance? So many other Magical Girl shows did that, too.
Come to think of it, Madoka Magica didn't even have the girls fight back against the system because only Madoka found a way out and purified the girls souls? Girl realizes she's been going about being a hero the wrong way and is confronted with her own selfishness? Look at Utena, which mastered this much more skillfully. Magical girl gets in a love triangle with another girl, vies for the affection of a fragile white-haired boy, and loses? Princess Tutu, except that the other girl was also a Magical Girl, they became friends and actually rebelled against the system together, and Ahiru(aka Princess Tutu) didn't fall into the pit of despair because girls should be punished for their sexualities and compete against each other for men and if a guy doesn't like you, you're worthless.
Even the whole "these girls are liches" thing wasn't very complex and well-handled as a lot of people like to think: the gems are called Soul Gems because your soul is in a gem. Wow. So clever. And they're Grief Seeds because they're seeds released from grievous witches. Also(not) clever. Even the fact that the acronyms are reversed(SG, GS) because Magical Girls turn into witches just made me go "yawn, I get it".
The whole show is just very lazily done and designed and tries too hard to be scary and deep and complex and "not like those other Magical Girl shows" while also trying too hard to make the girls super cute but also super badass so that we both are led to think it's a traditional Magical Girl show AND feel bad when these girls die because whoops they weren't so strong and badass after all!
Not to mention the whole "Magical Girls become witches just like how girls become women" thing really pisses me off because it shits on the whole coming-of-age aspect of Magical Girl as well(strong girls embracing their agency as they prepare to enter womanhood) by instead demonizing the very concept so that "becoming a woman" is a bad, vile, horrible thing(because being a woman makes you "more powerful", so the more powerful a woman is, the more mentally unstable she is) and then topping it off by having Madoka save the girls from becoming witches, aka women, making sure they never achieve a more mature state and maintain a level of childlike naivete.
It has so many misogynistic themes and concepts(girls are emotional, girls are weak-willed, girls are impressionable, girls shouldn't be selfish, girls shouldn't try to be heroes, girls should be pit against each other especially over a guy, girls shouldn't achieve power or become women, and more, and more, and more), that are stated matter-of-factly within the story and always proven right by the narrative, and yet people gobble it up and anytime somebody points it out, they are met with utter hostility.
Some people even defend it by saying those things are true! People only like Madoka because it's written by a man and depicts women suffering, in a genre written by women and meant to empower girls, which they don't like. And also because anything a man writes is automatically deeper and more valid than anything a woman writes.
So that's why when I found out that you didn't like Madoka either I was more than happy to discuss it with you, but I realize now that I was going overboard. I was just so happy that there was someone who agreed with me and actually understood what I was trying to say and found it problematic, and the fact that you say you're not that well-versed in Magical Girl proves my point even more because you don't even have to watch much Magical Girl to know that this is fucked up.
If you want me to stop sending Madoka salt asks, then fine. I'll stop. I didn't mean to bother you with these asks, I just wanted to see your point of view on Madoka Magica when everybody else is singing its praises left and right and never stopping once to actually think about it(while also claiming that people who don't like it are the ones "not thinking".). Hearing someone who's actually critical of this nonsense show is refreshing.
Firstly thank you for the ask! It’s honestly not your fault, I’ve just been struggling a bit lately with ask overloads.
That doesn’t necessarily mean I want you to stop, but I’d rather discuss it over Tumblr DMs so things are more balanced. Walls of text can be a little overwhelming for me (that’s why sometimes I try to balance my own walls of text with screenshots).

I've been thinking of how much I hate the misogyny in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, so I decided that instead of just salting about it(even though I still do from time to time because they're legitimate critiques and boy is it fun), I'm going to start talking about what I would do to improve it. Now doing this may mean it won't be the "dark" anime many people have wanted it to be, but I've been thinking of it for a while and it's my personal opinion, so let's get to it:
First, I would still have the Incubators, though they would probably have a different name because the name "Incubator" is pretty skeevy and part of a lot of the misogyny in the show. They would still recruit magical girls(who are called "Puellae Magi" in-universe, at least in the English dub and possibly some other dubs as well), only they do it for a different reason: Incubators go after teenage girls who are leading rough, difficult lives, and the magical girl contracts help them to improve their lives and give them a reason to live. They still make wishes, but the wishes don't screw them over because of their secret "selfishness".
However, if a potential magical girl is unclear or unsure of what she truly wishes for, this may lead things to go haywire. Basically, the whole magical girl thing is more heartwarming and the Incubators truly want to help the ladies in need, not just leech off of them. There's also no Soul Gems, or at least, their souls aren't actually in the Gems. They're called such because the Gems are powered by their Souls, and rather than the girls losing consciousness and "dying" when their Gems are too far apart from them, they simply lose their ability to perform magic and their magic becomes weaker. They still have stronger bodies though, much stronger than average humans, because becoming a magical girl gives them super strength/speed/stamina and all that, just WITHOUT making them liches.
Their Gems are non-interchangeable, so you can only use your own, not another girl's. As for the witches, they still exist, but witches weren't the intention of the Incubators; they're due to a botched experiment and it's up to magical girls to not only fight and defeat them, but return them to their original selves, thus showing that hope always does triumph over despair. I would also have the magical girls fight not only witches, but ordinary criminals as well, because having them fight only witches gets a little boring and predictable.
And finally, while there would still be only teenage girls who are chosen to become magical girls, it wouldn't be because they're "the most emotional" or some Hysterical Woman shit like that. It would be something more empowering, like, maybe only teenage girls are chosen because they're the most capable of magic and are simply more powerful magically than everyone else. They would still have their powers as adult women, but you have to be a teenage girl(well, one with a difficult/horrible life) to be recruited in the first place, if that makes sense.
And maybe older magical girls(well, women) would be able to mentor and assist younger ones(which is very much in-line with the coming of age themes present in magical girl, women supporting and uplifting younger girls as they advance into womanhood). This would make the claim that women such as Anne Frank, Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and Queen Himiko were magical girls less...iffy, but I still wouldn't make it so that ALL influential women were magical girls, nor that humanity would be in caves without the Incubators. There'd also be transformation/detrasformation phrases of course.
In short, the magical girl system exists more so as a form of wish fulfillment, both in and out of universe, since it's for teenage girls with rough lives who are "empowered" by becoming magical girls and getting to live out a fantasy of fighting crime while looking pretty, as an exchange for getting a wish fulfilled that will help them improve their lives. Only teenage girls have this ability because they're the strongest magic users, not because of "female hysteria". In other words, the magical girl system exists to support and benefit the girls, rather than exploit them.
Now, since I mainly went over the magical girl system itself, I'll talk about the characters. Kyoko still loves to eat, is still relatively selfish, and still has discord with Sayaka, but they overcome it and become friends MUCH sooner and in a much more natural way. Mami and Kyoko's relationship will actually be stated in-universe, not just in some side material. Sayaka still has a crush on her male friend, but confesses to him before Hitomi does. At this point, he either says yes and they hit it off but eventually don't work out and decide they'd be better as friends, or he says no and she's sad but perfectly fine with that, and encourages Hitomi to go after Kyousuke. Hitomi may do it if Kyousuke turns down Sayaka, or she may feel bad about going after him after her best friend just got turned down, especially if she's worried about getting turned down herself, since Sayaka has known him far longer so she has even less of a chance, right? If Hitomi does confess, Kyousuke WILL say yes, but because his arm was healed due to Sayaka's wish, he's more concerned about playing the violin than spending time with his alleged girlfriend and they eventually fall out. This is keeping in line with Gen's claim that Kyousuke isn't a good match for either of the two girls. Though they may get together in the future.
As for Sayaka...well, she gets with Kyoko and it's actually made CANONICAL in-universe. I don't know about Madoka and Homura though, if she's less possessive of Madoka than she was in canon then perhaps she has a shot. Either way, I would really love if the ships were actually canon and not just queerbaiting. Regardless, Sayaka and Hitomi stay friends. Also, on a meta level, I would really love it if there were more female writers on Madoka Magica, and that the show was targeted towards a female viewing audience, which would mean toning down the fanservice(if not removing it entirely), as well as the troublesome aspects, as I've talked about earlier. And no "torturing young innocent girls and restricting their agency" since that's not what the magical girl genre is about and it never has been. This probably means more episodes though. Anyway, there's probably more stuff I'm forgetting, but to sum it up, this is how I would fix Madoka Magica. What do you think?
I think it’s a really good idea!!! Refreshing~ You know I’m all about fix-its.
Plus, all I heard was “Madoka Magica without being edgy” and I’m like, “yes please, I’m here for it.”

About Improbably Female Cast, it has come to my attention that Madoka Magica has been removed from the list. Someone in the discussion section of the trope removed it saying that since it's a magical GIRL show, it having a majority female cast isn't "improbable". The Touhou example is still there, though, because there's apparently something wrong with stories that have less men than women or have next to no men in them. Because a prominent male character is a requirement to tell a good story.
They also removed Strawberry Panic! because it takes place in an all girls' school, and Y: The Last Man, because it takes place in a futuristic world where almost all the men died. But still, the fact that those examples were there at all speaks volumes about the double standard there at TV Tropes. Even if the story has a realistic and plausible reason for the setting to be mostly female, as the examples above are, TV Tropes still considered them improbable. It's as if TV Tropes doesn't just dislike/question stories about a mostly female cast when it doesn't "have" to be, they dislike/question majority female casts in GENERAL! And the closest they have to a Spear Counterpart is Cast Full of Pretty Boys, which is a totally different trope: a cast in which most of the characters are "bishounen" aka pretty boys, because it appeals to a female demographic.
So it's "justified" but female casts aren't. And the playing with section reeks of "Stay in The Kitchen" sexism, with statements can be okay or even exist is if it's a harem or exists to titillate men who crave girl-on-girl interaction(and in fact, the main page lists this as their FIRST reason such a cast would exist, appealing to little girls and/or queer women is secondary/tertiary in their eyes), and the situations they propose in which the trope could be played with almost all involve the few boys attempting to hook up with as many women as possible or manipulating the women to fall in love with them, with the so-called justification that "the viewers just like their lesbians". And almost all their quotes(same on the Playing With page) are about people whining and complaining that the cast has too many girls in it. The Image Links section even has a link to a picture of two boys griping and bleating about the lack of boys in whatever show they're watching("They don't appeal to our demographic!" "Why are there no boys in our story?"), which TV Tropes has the nerve to call a "witty observation".
But what pisses me off even more is the fact that a predominantly female cast even NEEDS a justification in the first place. They only pulled specific examples of shows that supposedly dictated that the cast MUST be mainly female: Magical Girl shows, all-girls school settings, stories in which the entirety of men were killed off...only in extreme circumstances can you "resort" to using female characters but if the situation was reversed, the male equivalent wouldn't be considered improbable to BEGIN WITH. And this is despite the fact that the discussion page is FULL of people saying the trope should be renamed because of sexism, detailing many things I'm detailing right now, to the point where it's even gone off TV Tropes and is right here on Tumblr itself(one troper called it "PC whining", just ugh)! I just wish TV Tropes would realize the inherent sexism in calling such a cast improbable, since it makes it look like they're unhappy with the representation. Then again, they might be.
I’VE NOTICED THAT TOO, YEAH.
show: *has predominately female cast*
people: oKaY I guess that makes sense bUT ONlY BECAUSE--
And because misogyny isn’t as widely discouraged as... example, people would be absolutely crucified for complaining about a show having “too many POCs”... it means that those comments usually get ignored.

The Improbably Female Cast talk, especially the part about men complaining when stories have mostly female characters/seeing spaces that are 1/3 female as "majority female", reminded me of how I saw a study somewhere talking about the differences between how men and women dream, and it was saying that men's dreams tend to have more men than women in them, while women's dreams tend to have an equal amount of members from both sexes. Yikes. Even in their sleep men want women out of the picture.
And just in case you're curious, I found the study itself! It's called "Gender Similarities and Differences in Dreams", though if you look up "differences in how men and women dream" it should be the second thing under the link that also includes a snippet of the article. To quote the study itself: "there is a gender difference in how often men and women include male and female characters in their dreams: men dream twice as often about other men as they do about women(67% vs. 33%), and women dream equally about both sexes (48% men, 52% women). This is the largest difference between American men and women." Ouch. Granted, it's specifically talking about Americans, but I don't even want to imagine how even more skewed it probably is in men's favors for men in other countries(not gonna name drop any ACTUAL countries obviously.)! Internalized misogyny runs deep, to the point where men can't even conceive of women having a more significant role than them in anything, even in dreams.
And it runs deeper than that, too. I saw a post on Micechat called "The Smurfette Principle" by JMora. You probably already know what that is, but just in case you don't(or anyone else reading this doesn't), it's a trope describing the tendency for works to have a disproportionate amount of male characters with only one female in the group, if not the whole cast(named after Smurfette, the only female Smurf). The entire article is really well written and it discusses the gender disparity in fiction quite nicely, but what I'd really like to call your attention to is near the end, where they talked about how this effects kids, especially boys.
Movies that make most of their characters male while shoehorning females in female-specific roles are treating maleness as the default while femaleness is a special case, and this leads to films about men being seen as "unisex" while films about women are seen as "for girls" only. As a result, this leads to little girls being willing to watch movies about boys AND girls, while little boys watch movies only about other boys.
This also extends to the stories they write. Girls write stories with male and female protagonists equally, while boys almost exclusively write stories with male protagonists. Girls' stories tend to have a mixture of boys and girls, whereas boys' stories have all boys in them. It relates to what I was saying earlier about how men's dreams have mostly male characters while women's dreams are equal: how our society conditions boys to think that girls just aren't important and don't matter much. To quote the article, "Girls already know they can be the main pirates; it's the boys who aren't getting the message". Thankfully my little(male) cousin likes shows about girls and shows about boys just as much: he likes Pirates of the Caribbean, and he also likes Enchanted. But the majority of boys still dismiss shows for girls as "girly" as if girly is a bad thing but boyish isn't, and when they don't it's weird.
The best part is that this led someone else to realize their own mistakes regarding overrepresentation of men vs underrepresentation of women. A guy named Mouse Macabre realized that the comic he was working on had 8 main characters, 6 male, 2 female, and had to go back and work so that there was an equal amount. All he had to do was make two of his male characters female, and there you have it! Four male main characters, 4 female! Then why is it so hard for the majority of men these days?
Ugh, I don’t know. Like, as soon as people hear “we’re adding more characters for equality/to give women more attention,” it suddenly becomes “““forced.”““
Alright then I guess we’ll just have a bunch of white male shows then because adding diversity is forced and uNnaTuRaL.
We had POCs and more female characters and suddenly certain white males feel ignored and disenfranchised. :|
Poor things, not like there are ten millions other things they could be watching instead.
Also, inevitable response to the dream thing: men agreeing to dream more about woman... but they’re sexualized.

Rescue Team Retrospective Part 8: Characterization, Part 5
Hero
Much to my surprise, they actually do have more spoken dialogue than I remember. However, most of it still seems to be when they are/think they are alone, when they are dreaming, or during dialogue tree options. They also have funnier dialogue options on the whole, compared to in Explorers. …And I honestly don’t remember how much they have in PSMD, but I feel like it still less than they had in Gates?
Anyways, I get the feeling that they’re a bit older than most of the other protagonists, mostly in terms of what little dialogue we do see and how their situation seems a bit more dire in general? They are more prone to speculating on their new nature as a pokemon, for one, and they seem a bit more active over all in actually trying to figure out what exactly happened to them. Possibly this is because they actually get some hints early one with Alakazam suggesting they go check out the Hill of the Ancients, compared to Explorers waiting until the expedition and then pretty much stumbling into a possibility with Uxie, PSMD not really seeming to touch on it until way, way late in the game, and Gates actually having some knowledge of what they’re there for, but then deciding not to bother finding out anything else despite having the clearest path.
The Rescue Team Hero has the smallest support group and the natural disasters they keep experiencing first hand, even within the town, make their situation the most dangerous from the get-go, but they rise to the challenge admirably. And also, no one questions the fact that they are choosing to live alone even though we do have multiple examples of parents with children present in the Square—which is another reason why I think they must be older, because otherwise I would hope one of the actual adults would question it. So I’d give them late teens at minimum.
We don’t really get too much of a backstory on them besides the fact that they apparently spoke with Gardevoir and suggested the memory wiping themselves as a test of their worthiness. I think that the implication might also be that they are actually from the pokemon world specifically, rather than pulled there like the Gates hero was, but it isn’t entirely clear from the dialogue exactly how far the “We” that Gardevoir spoke of could reach on their search for a savior, so it could really go either way. I personally headcanon them as coming from the human world, though.
Of all the different heroes, I still think they have the least actual characterization—though they definitely do have more of it than I previously remembered.
 Partner
I’m going to note again that I am just going with the original version. I know that DX changed some stuff—especially when it comes to the post game interactions—but since I haven’t played that version, I can’t comment on it.
The Partner actually seemed a lot sassier and selfish than I remember them being. Like, sure, I did recall that line about them faking a stomachache before they go off to save Shiftry, but even before that… well, they make fun of the hero’s name, for one, and they seem a bit self-centered and glory seeking when it comes to receiving personal rescue requests. Like… I touched on it a little in the Gengar post, but their reaction to the mail stealing scene struck me a bit differently as an adult than it did when I was a child. They weren’t angry that someone was stealing from their friend’s mailbox—they were angry that they weren’t the ones who would be getting the credit for completing the rescue requests. And maybe I’m just being nit-picky about it, but the subtle difference there just strikes me as putting the partner in a bit more negative light.
That aside, their devotion to the hero is clear. They are a great friend and go to many lengths to help them figure out their identity. And I actually think their moment of doubt after hearing the Ninetales Legend for the first time actually serves to strengthen their emotion and conviction. They really did go ride or die from the hero—knowing all the risks and having only their friendship as a reason to follow them on the fugitive arc. Comparatively, the Explorers partner literally was just dragged along with no say in the matter, the Gates partner thought it was just going to be a standard rescue mission when they agreed to help, and the PSMD partner was really the one who seemed to be calling the shots for the most part (and also accidentally got dragged along to their fugitive arc equivalent much like the Gates hero did, since their initial assumption was that the mission was going to be different than what ended up happening).
This is why I felt—and still feel—very betrayed by the fact that they pretty much abandon the hero after the main storyline. And they can even kick you out of your actual house if you choose them to be the leader. Okay, so the way that they frame it is to suggest taking a divide and conquer approach—that you can make teams specifically suited to each quest—but its just really sad that they no longer follow you around anymore or get any special dialogue if you visit their friend area.
I don’t think their goals and desires are as clear cut as some of the other partners. They seem to be almost making things up as they go at some points. Yes, there is an early indication and justification for wanting to form a Rescue Team initially, but they don’t really seem to get too into the idea of what that actually means until Caterpie expresses an interest in one day joining and the partner then suggests one day creating a proper base. And then promptly says nothing else on the matter or tries to get that started at any point between then and the fugitive arc until they randomly bring it up after meeting the mankey gang. Like, sure, some of that was put on the backburner when they got that suggestion to see Xatu… but there was still a little time before that, and there was ample opportunity for them to have had some sort of dialogue option indicating that they were still interested in doing that, but were going to put it aside in deference to the hero’s needs.
From that point of view, their bond with the hero probably is a lot stronger from the beginning. Which is in some ways good, but in other ways bad since it means we don’t get to see as much relationship growth. Though, ironically, I think we do see more growth from this pair in that matter than we do from the Explorers pair, especially considering the “moment of doubt” scene.
Like, sure, the Explorers duo are excellent friends, and obviously they are extremely close considering the whole Dimensional Scream thing. But while we do see some individual growth from the partner, there aren’t too many overt examples. Sure, we get that montage before the credits… but its just a lot more subtle. And that actually speaks more to the sort of easy friendships of young children, which is another reason that I headcanon that pair as being so young—which makes it all the sweeter that the duo can stand the test of time and remain close even after the big adventure is over.
That being said, I still think that the Rescue Team pair has less relationship growth than Gates or PSMD does. Which is probably one of the few nice things I can say about PSMD—I really do like how they handled the partner’s character growth there… it’s just too bad that a lot of the time it came at the expense of the hero, in multiple ways.
So I guess my overall verdict on the Rescue Team partner is that they aren’t as flat of a character as I remember, they’re still lacking in personal growth overall and are probably the overall weakest partner of the series even though there are some aspects in which they excel.
As a final note… Interestingly enough, it really is only the Gates and Rescue Team partners who really get the chance to make a deliberate choice to put the hero’s desires before their own—though it is slightly more subtle in the Rescue Team partner’s case. Sure, unlike the Gates partner, the Rescue Team partner doesn’t ever have the opportunity to actually ask the hero to stay with them—the hero didn’t tell them they would have to leave and then came back on their own anyways fairly quickly, and though the partner did question once whether or not they wanted to turn into a human again, they didn’t really comment much either way and the subject was quickly dropped. But it was the Rescue Team partner who worked through a moment of doubt and resolved to trust their hero, and, again, they did not have to go on the run with the hero. The hero outright offered to disband the team and give them the chance to leave, and they refused.
This is much like the subtle way that the Gates partner showed they cared. True, they didn’t exactly take back their words to the hero about wanting them to stay—at least not beyond what they said in the goodbye frism—but they were very willing to pass up on the opportunity to wish for their return if it meant the hero would be happier on Earth, and they tried their hardest to give them the best of both world when they did finally make a wish.
In comparison, the question was never really brought up with the Explorers partner, and they didn’t really have a choice or opportunity either way. And the PSMD partner didn’t give the hero any chances or opportunities at all, period—only some of which can be explained on the fact that apparently they also had their own case of amnesia, because even then they weren’t trying all that hard to look into the hero’s situation before that point when they, at least, actually got the opportunity to have an actual life and childhood full of new memories with their guardian and didn’t actually realize they had changed species at all, unlike the hero who knew full well from the get-go that they had amnesia and weren’t supposed to be a pokemon at all.

Animal Crossing Fish - Explained #15
Brought to you by a marine biologist who wishes she had a pond...
Fish I’ve Covered: Click Here
There’s a big difference between keeping a fish tank and keeping a pond. Ponds are typically outdoors, and, although they still need maintenance like a fish tank, it’s a lot more “natural”. No glass, ya know? Stick your feet in, sit outside, you know...stuff I wouldn’t normally do. A pond is bound to attract local wildlife, too. It also fulfills some people’s desire to release domesticated animals into “the wild” without actually doing so. Today’s fish really captures that essence - the koi:
Tumblr media
The koi, although a bit rare (for no discernible reason I can see), is available all throughout the year in the pond. For some reason they disappear in the middle of the day, and again, I have no idea why. It’d make more sense that these fish would just be available all day, everyday, but I guess maybe AC:NH wanted to make this carp color morph more special than it’s boring counterpart also in the game. Koi are really hardy fish; if given a pond with the proper depth and places to hide, koi can survive throughout the winter just fine, so explains why they are available all months. They’re only found in the pond, though, because, for the most part, that’s where you’ll find this fish IRL - in people’s very special koi ponds.
I’ve been meaning to cover this one since we did the goldfish, because it’s another asian carp species that was domesticated initially for food and then for its color morphs. Unlike the Goldfish, which was bred and bred and bred until it became a separate species from its ancestor, the Prussian Carp, the koi is merely a subspecies of its wild counterpart, the Amur Carp, (Cyprinus rubrofuscus):
Tumblr media
Like a lot of the fish in our list, koi are also accidentally and intentionally released into the wild. Unlike the goldfish, koi will revert back to looking like the Amur carp within a few generations. And just like the others, it’s become a terrible invasive in many of the places it’s been released.
Unlike Goldfish keeping, Koi keeping as a hobby hasn’t been around nearly as long. The Amur Carp was an aquaculture-d fish for the longest time in China, at least since the 5th century.
An aside: “Aquaculture” is the term given to the farming of aquatic life, fresh and marine, and it’s been done for a very long time all over the world. Recently, it’s been implemented as a way to take some pressure off of wild fish stocks, but, as you can imagine, some species are cool with this (tilapia and oysters being two good examples) while others just aren’t (bluefin tuna and other big ass, apex predators just really can’t be cultured enough in a way that doesn’t just put strain on bait fish stocks anyway. I could go on and on about this, so let me know if you wanna hear it).
Anyway, it was only in the 1820′s that breeding koi for color, and therefore, fish-keeping, became a thing. And guess where that happened? That’s right! Japan! They now come in many different breeds, usually determined by scalation, color, and patterning, with new breeds being developed all the time.
Tumblr media
Koi are seen as positive images, like friendship, prosperity, and good luck. They are also seen as a symbol for destiny, a call back to an ancient legend of an ambitious koi that was able to jump over a waterfall and become a dragon (this is also the idea behind the Pokemon Magikarp and Gyarados). It stands to reason that the koi would make it into AC:NH, because it is so iconic for lots of people all over the world. Also, they super pretty! How good does it feel to land one of these after getting nothing but carp and black bass all day???
And there you have it. Fascinating stuff, no?

Commission Fic!
I was given permission by @samarazeroni to post the 2.5k word fic I was commissioned for! It’s a fluffy Chairman Rose x Reader, and was super fun to write. I hope you all enjoy! Fic under the cut <3
    Rose had been working overtime.
It was extremely obvious at this very moment, when the coffee he had been drinking all day had finally worn off, and the exhaustion of several days of no sleep were starting to filter into his system. He rested his head in his hands, barely able to stay awake, and at this point, the words on the document in front of him had started to blur and fly around his head.
He shook his head for what seemed like the millionth time today. Rose was sure that, at this point, Oleana thought he had a caffeine addiction, and was simply not saying anything about it. He wondered if he should start a coffee business on the side, just to get it for free, or at least a discount. He yawned, pulling out his phone from his pocket and looking at the time, which was also barely readable. 2:06 am. He sighed, attempting to scroll through his notifications, but he found that the bright screen only worsened his headache.
The chairman looked down at the document in front of him, not really ready to go over the thousands of boring sheets of paper. Even though reading through the lines was a specialty of his, at this point, some words were just becoming blobs in his head, and he wasn’t processing anything that his brain was trying to filter through. He leaned back in his chair, a long, tired and fed up groan escaping his lips. He looked around at his office, giving a slight smile to himself.
It was luxurious, that was for certain. Everything was so clean that even the smallest speck would not survive the wrath of the cleaning lady. Dark oak wood lined the walls, each decorated with gold trimmings, which also translated into every piece of wooden furniture he could find. His desk was the same, as were his bookcases and tables for guests to sit by. Each little gold inlay had its own unique, custom design, usually depicting some sort of history pertaining to Galar.
The oak wood beneath his feet was so polished he could see his reflection in it. A beautiful, intricate red rug laid all the way from the floor to his desk, where two, lavish, simple black leather seats had been placed. There were the general lights, produced from beautiful, gold and silver chandeliers, and then there was the simple desk light that he was using. That in and of itself was top quality, and it did great to light up his desk. From here, though, he could barely even see the crimson couch that resided next to the coffee table.
He smiled to himself, head bonking against the back of his chair, closed his eyes and shook his head. How impossibly far he had come from his youth. Though, as much as things had changed, there was always something that had stayed the same. He had always been interested in history, no matter how far back it was. If he had the ability to get his hands on ancient texts, he would add it to his collection. He was always careful not to damage the books whenever he read them, but the entire time he would be enamored.
It wasn’t just history for Galar, either. Galar’s was just the most accessible in terms of myths and legends. He had some from Sinnoh, from Hoenn, Kanto, Johto, all over. He had at least one book from every region, and while those were ten times more difficult to get his hands on, he would go through the process and fetch them the coin. There were points in time where he just had to settle for replicas, but just the thrill of being able to learn more was enough to keep him going day to day.
He turned his chair around to get a good look at all of Galar displayed in front of him from a seamless, full panned window. He could see almost the entire region, from Wyndon to Potswick. Below him were so many people living out their lives, tucked away in their beds, dreaming of a peaceful tomorrow. He wished nothing more than to explore far beyond the frigid shores, if only to find the past that would better the world for the future.
The entire, vast world out there was just waiting to be dug up and revealed. All the secrets and history from those long past could live on within the pages of books. That was the true beauty of it. If he could have, he would have become an archeologist, just so he could get up close and personal with some of these important structures and past times. But here he was, stuck in this office, filling out paperwork having to do with new businesses and some more gym challenge logistics.
The twinkling lights of the Galar region blinked at him lovingly, and he slowly began to wonder how all the histories worked alongside each other. This was normally a thought process that entered his brain when he was tired and unmotivated to do any work. For one, how did the Kalos incident really work out? It correlated at about the same time as the darkest day happened, and yet, there was no other mention of them connecting other than the three thousand year time span.
Rose had heard of others starting to play around with the idea of manipulating time, specifically of those from Team Galactic in the Sinnoh region. He had heard of other evil teams messing with Pokemon of legend, like Team Plasma making two legendary Pokemon become one single being of unfathomable power.
There was talk of the burned tower from Johto spawning three legendary Pokemon from it’s fires, all of which were thought to be evolutions of Eevee. And of course, there were the ultra beasts, the ones that moved through time and space to end up in worlds that Rose had no hope of even comprehending.
All of this made him feel strange. From the horrible powers of legendary Pokemon, to the thought that humans could even try to manipulate such a thing. It was… a thought process to be sure. He had researched enough about wishing stars and the darkest day to understand that he could do something with that, if he had enough wishing stars at least. But as of right now, that was only a thought for him and his morally conflicted brain to sort out.
At this point, he had started to doze off, without really realizing it this time. In fact, he didn’t hear the small click of the door opening, the light coming in from the hallway, or the small footsteps approaching him. He jumped awake when he felt a hand on his chest, looking up to see his beautiful wife.
“Good morning, sleepy head,” you purred at him, a hand running through his hair.
Rose smiled, adjusting himself on the chair. “Good morning, love. Why are you here?”
You shrugged. “The bed was cold without you.”
He smiled up at you. “Ah, I see. And it wasn’t from Oleanna texting you that I had been here for a while?”
You held your hand up to your mouth in fake surprise. “What?! I have never been sent a text from Oleanna about your well being ever! In my entire life!”
Rose chuckled and pulled you onto his lap. You laughed right along with him, snuggling into his chest. Your hands started to play with the intricate parts of his outfit, clicking your tongue slightly in disapproval. “I must say, I much prefer your casual wear than this.”
“As do I, though it seems I can’t take it off quite yet.”
You lifted your head and frowned at the man. “You’re coming home with me tonight and taking the day off tomorrow.”
    Rose furrowed his eyebrows. “But—”
“No! No buts! I’ve already spoken with Oleanna about this. You’re so exhausted you were nearly dead asleep when I came in!”
He couldn’t argue there, and simply hung his head, defeated. If there was one person he couldn’t say no to, it was you. That was why, when he was being stubborn and not taking care of himself, the entire cast and crew behind the scenes would collaborate with you, even if it was only in an attempt to let Rose rest for a day. You laughed softly, pushing some of the hair that had fallen in front of his eyes back to his ears.
“I concede,” he cooed at you, soft smile on his face as he captured your lips briefly in his.
You pulled back, smiling, but eyebrows raised. “That was faster than usual. In fact, I think that might’ve been a new record. You usually put up at least some form of fight.”
“I’ll be honest, I’m too tired to fight right now. I just want you, and that’s all.”
His arms wrapped around your waist, and he nuzzled into your neck, taking in the sweet scent of your cinnamon perfume. A low, content grumble eminanted from his chest, and yet you stood, causing him to almost whine. But as soon as you nodded to the couch, he understood and allowed himself to be dragged by you.
“I figured the chair wouldn’t be a nice place to sleep for either of us.”
Without resisting, Rose plopped down on his back on the couch, taking off some of the layers that were basically keeping him captive. You cuddled up to him, laying your head right where his heart was, letting lose your own happy groan. The two of you didn’t even care that the light on his desk was still turned on, you were just happy with the embrace of the other.
His heart was always fast when it was around you. Even after a couple years of marriage, you still had this effect on him. There were points in time where you were so dastardly gorgeous that you stole his breath away, and he would have to remind himself how to properly breathe. And while you were just in some simple pajamas, you still had a beautiful glow to you.
Rose barely had the strength to move his hand, but he managed to lace his fingers with yours and leaned down to kiss your head. As he closed his eyes against the surface of the couch, he relished in your warmth for every second he could. How long had it been since he had really gotten any time with you? It felt like years, it was so long.
And for you, his heart was always something special to you. It was the reason he was breathing, right now, with your ring on his finger. You could feel the cool metal against your own, and just the thought of your wedding day made you feel all tingly and giggly inside. His heart was important to you, because you hoped that it wouldn’t even think of another love. It was only fair, since he had your heart tightly wrapped around his pinky finger, even though most people saw it as the other way around.
The two of you had been smitten from the moment you laid eyes on each other, but refused to confess your love for years. When he finally got down on one knee, it was the best time of your life. The wedding was fabulous, on top of everything you had ever wanted. But afterwards, you were able to see a side of him that no one else really saw. You have always been able to see it, of course, but it was plain as day once the honeymoon commenced.
Rose, behind all this flash and glamour, was a very simple man who just wanted simple things. You always got the sense that he never really anticipated this kind of lifestyle, but that he embraced it all the same. He really only wanted to do something better for the world, and his thought that he had as a child was enough to spark an entirely new business. So yes, even though there was all of this pomp and circumstance in his presentation, you were sure that this simple cuddling was all he really needed right now.
“Love,” he purred, nearly asleep already.
    “Yes, my dear?”
“You know I love you, right?”
You brought your head up from his beating heart and placed a light kiss on his cheek. “Of course I do. Why wouldn’t I?”
A long sigh escaped his chest. “I worry sometimes. Worry that I’m not coming home enough to spend time with you, and that with you having to get me all the time… well, I suppose I feel like I’m not giving you enough love in our day to day lives.”
“Rose, darling,” you cooed at him. “I know how busy you are, and I also know that you wish to protect me from that craziness. I, of course, want nothing more than to be by your side, but sometimes, I don’t get to keep you with me all the time. Sometimes I think that’s better.”
    “Better, huh?”
“Well yes. Have you noticed that we don’t get in as many fights as some of the other couples around us?”
    Rose thought for a second. “I suppose that’s true…”
“And besides, you’re never really gone for more than a week. A week is only if you have a business trip. There are nights where I feel you crawl into bed at 5 am and wrap your arms around me, snuggling me tight. It’s enough to let me know that you missed me. So please, love, don’t worry.”
Rose chuckled, holding your head to his chest. “You know that that explanation will only quell my fears for a short amount of time, right?”
“Mhm,” you giggled. “I’m well aware of that. But I will never stop telling you it, even if it only slightly fights off your anxiety.”
One final, tired laugh was all Rose had in him before he cuddled you close to him, thinking of all of the wonderful times the two of you had spent together. It was enough to bring him from his usual thought pattern of history, and he found himself drifting into a nice, calm sleep.
You smiled to yourself, resting your head on his heart once more. This was all you really needed, in the end. This fancy stuff was never necessary, it was just a little added bonus. You had been gifted a man who loved you, no matter what happened, and that was the biggest thing for you. His heartbeat was lulling, soft yet constant. It let you know that he was alive and well, and in turn, you were as too. It meant so much to you.
The two of you slept far into the morning, and apparently, Oleanna had come in several times to make sure the two of you weren’t dead. All meetings had been canceled for the day, per you two’s discussion earlier. Eventually, the two of you dragged each other from the couch and into a car, which was then driven to your estate. The bed was much comfier anyways, which basically lulled both of you back into a sleepy cuddle pile. Neither of you really minded that you wasted the entire day sleeping, and honestly, it was probably the best call for Chairman Rose. For the next week, he finally seemed refreshed, but the cycle started anew with a brand new week. Though, that meant more cuddling for him, so he wasn’t really complaining.

I’m kind of in a mood suddenly so below the cut there will be me just talking about fanfics I have read or am reading and why I like fanfic and stuff because I need to just
Fanfiction fucking rocks the basic part before all the stuff about it as the story just...it’s so easy to access and there’s so much and it’s just all there on the internet I don’t have to find a physical book
And on AO3 (where 90% of good currently-updating fic is afaik) there is TAGGING where you will know what you’re getting into (unless the author suddenly adds a sex scene and only then updates the tags but at least they give a warning at the start of the chapter but it doesn’t bother me as much as it did a couple years ago as long as I know it’s coming I know it’s a tool and it has its uses) with character drama and deaths and all that jazz not to mention how Ash being a badass has a specific tag and just other random things having tags that are important parts of the story
Like there are multiple fics I have found (not all of them are living fics sadly) of writing Ash’s journey in the beginning differently, like there was one I saw once that I kind of forgot to keep reading where he went to Sinnoh (and was still rivals with Paul and I think their ship tag was there?) and it said it was following game plot and then there’s one that I definitely don’t have open anymore because it didn’t update for some amount of time where he had a Joltik and then a Ferroseed and it’s really cool and a different one that’s still living and it’s called Pity of the World and Jesse + James (who is genderfluid in this fic) + Meowth are good people and stuff and just steal abused Pokemon and they run into Ash and they all end up being travel buddies and Ash understands Pokemon (not literally of course that’s not this fic) and also just knows what James’ gender is before they say anything and also in one chapter Zapdos is in Gringy City and says something about friendship being for mortals or something??? idk we’ll see and then there’s a different fic that I was reading and lost when switching devices and Ash was raised by Pokemon and literally can speak Pokemon and it was really neat but I haven’t tried to find where I left off because I’m too lazy for that tbh but it is still updating it’s Symbiosis or Symbiotic or something like that
Most things involving Ash that aren’t shippy or weird like that (ok there are some I’m not interested in but whapdfajaldjakjdf) end up being really cool because he’s a fucking legendary magnet which can either be played for laughs or deadly serious or just not be part of the fic if it isn’t relevant and so many fics use Aura it’s really cool (including Pity of the World I think he mega evolves Pidgeot (who evolves before leaving) when he fights Sabrina who does not have a doll in this fic) and there are different ways they do it and the thing I was mentioning about his connection with Pokemon like maybe it’s just a bit more than normal or it’s just yes he is everything and I kinda skipped out on gens 6 and 7 of the anime but I get enough to understand what they mean in chat fics and when referring to it in other fics it’s really cool
I think I mentioned Creepypasta and how there were two Harry Potter Creepypasta fics, one that was one and was slow to update if it wasn’t dead and one that was on the fourth one actually I was wrong about what number it was I think and updates every two weeks the first one is more lighthearted/written by a younger person like Slendy is a character and Harry x a lot of the ‘pastas I guess and it takes place starting before 4th year and the beginning is kinda meh with some weird dialogue and absurd levels of Dumbledore Ron and Hermione bashing but it does call out some of the other legitimate problems like how the lake trial in the tournament just kidnaps people which is very big because it was Ben who was kidnapped so big yikes there and honestly it’s not what you want to read if you want something really high-quality and serious like not that it doesn’t take itself seriously but it feels closer to something I would have read when I was in middle school than most of the Sanders Sides fics I read (just using that as comparison because the vast majority of that is well-written stuff). Then the other one!!!! For one it has a much more realistic/developed take on the Creepypastas’ existence like how the stories are how they exist with Slenderman being a cosmic horror being thing more than a character with character which is always really cool and Jeff kidnaps Harry as a baby (he is Boy when he is with the Creepypasta and Harry when at Hogwarts and there’s some really cool stuff about how they’re different) and, having lived with murderers, Harry gives zero fucks about things and kills Fluffy in the first book long before other stuff happens, Quirrel tries to use him to get the stone but gets annihilated at the mirror because family and then Voldemort is just a giant white snake for the rest of the series so far and also because he sucks Lockhart tries to exorcise Harry because Harry is fucking nuts and it’s great and also Harry is a Hufflepuff and there is probably more Gryffindor bashing than is necessary and pretty much all the adults get bashed for sucking (like in book 3 the boggart stuff is called out for being hella dangerous for them also Harry can’t cast the Patronus charm make of that what you will idk what) though Harry does make for quite the conversation topic among the teachers, Harry x Neville is the main ship and Neville eventually gets resorted into Hufflepuff because the Gryffindors are being massive dicks to him, also Harry flirts with Draco because Harry gives no fucks and it’s great (also both books give Luna lots of love, like the young one she’s a Seer like from Madame Macabre’s old webcomic that’s dead as it gets and the long one she’s just a good character and shit) and Harry makes these books to spread Slenderman’s legend throughout Britain/the Wizarding World and Draco may have gotten one and survived???? but now Neville has one during the summer months (and also through feeding Fanged Geraniums or whatever live stuff and blood instead of bonemeal he is creating Audrey II and straight-up says something about having to call it Harry Jr. but that’s probably just a little joke and isn’t going to stay beyond this but it’s just fun because Little Shop of Horrors slaps) and I have big fear about him doing the stuff and getting hurt and Harry/Boy conflict will be scary
There’s this other fic I found when trying to find good fics involving Ash and it’s kinda weird and seems to be written by a younger author but we’ll see where things go, like Harry got transported by Celebi to the world of Pokemon and Giovanni is Silver and Ash’s dad and they live with him and also Harry does too and he’s in a wheelchair and also is really smart and I wish we had gotten to spend a bit longer seeing their dynamics before when Harry is 14 the Goblet of Fire somehow spits his name out and Celebi helps with getting Harry (and also the other three because of course) safely there without dying because dimensional travel is hard and Celebi is friend and Luna gets to be important here too I think she’s shown up as a named student and guided them to a room and seems to know things about the castle and that’s kinda all there is so far there’s a bit more but it’s not got a lot yet I hope the author keeps going it’s a weird idea but I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes
Oh I forgot to talk about it but there’s this whump Ash fic that was being written under one title but it got dropped and now it’s being rewritten with the same concept but under a new title and going about a lot of things a different way it’s just the same starting premise and the fic is Helpless and Ash almost dies multiple times and there’s this theme of adults failing him and also Gary fucks a thing up and Ash needs support and therapy (a good number of fics have Ash needing therapy but given the shit he’s been through that is not surprising especially from my limited knowledge of Kalos holy shit Lysandre was doing some mad shit) and it’s just good but it is a lot of hospital and Ash being hurt and almost dying so be warned if that isn’t a safe read for you
The reason I don’t just outright block explicit anymore despite the horrors of trying to find safe Pokemon fic on AO3 amidst the consensual porn, incest porn, pokephilia porn, etc., is I randomly decided to try and find some Sonic fanfic on AO3 because a couple people on YouTube have been doing Sonic story stuff (Sonic What If has some good stuff that’s just... what-if scenarios and then there’s Sonic Rewritten which takes a game’s plot and then redoes it but good like the Deadly Six having personalities or Sonic 06 not having maybe bestiality or Generations being more than ‘oh past and present stages now have nostalgia’ and Robotnik and Eggman are significantly different people in that one and it’s really cool) and I thought maybe I would find some good stuff on AO3 (which I have but nothing that I want to ramble about specifically though there was one fic where Eggman does Tails clone and then his original body dies so he’s stuck looking like Tails and it’s kinda wild) and I found a fic that was marked explicit because torture and violence (honestly it wasn’t that bad) and I like it and don’t want to miss something that I might like by accidentally blocking it and now when I try to find Pokemon fic I have to see Leon x Hop and Pokemon x human smut.
There’s one Sanders Sides fic that I was reading and I don’t remember the name nor do I know if it’s updating I think I lost it but it started from the beginning of the series with the Dark Sides being a platonic poly family and when they weren’t in the episode they were talking about it/the Light Sides and it’s honestly really really good and the author just decided to have Deceit’s name be Janus and it was amazing when it turned out that was his real name it was just great but IDK if the fic has been abandoned, I think I lost it in the shift, but it was really good (but sympathetic dark sides and unsympathetic patton and roman and logan for a bit so do be warned if those aren’t comfortable for you)
Oh yeah I remembered another fic I can talk about there was this one Creepypasta fic and it’s completed and it is a Jeff x Reader but it kind of just stops being about the romance after a certain point and just goes way off the rails. It starts like ‘oh this will be a normal x reader with mansion and Slendy is dad and Zalgo is probably evil’ and then NOPE SLENDERMAN HAS BEEN RAISING FAMILIES THAT LOVE HIM TO TURN THEM INTO CRYSTALS TO MAKE HIM MORE POWERFUL AND ZALGO IS AGAINST THAT and it just is great like I never see Zalgo being good, like Slenderman being evil or whatever is plenty common (especially in the innumerable ARG fics I don’t read because I don’t have the attention span to learn what the fuck the source is) but never in tandem with Zalgo being anything but chaotic evil n shit it’s wild and it’s great and also Slenderman’s parents have faces I guess idk that was weird also there is one smut chapter but like the author said you can skip the smut and I did and didn’t feel like I missed any plot stuff so if that’s a no for you just keep an eye out for the author’s warning. It is by a younger writer, as demonstrated by its daily updates while it was being written, tiny chapters, and some general writing style stuff common to younger writers, but honestly I just love it for being something so wildly different, under the guise of a typical x Reader fic.
Speaking of ship stuff and Creepypasta the trilogy of Sans x Creepypasta fics are amazing. The writer definitely improves over time, the beginning of the first book kind of has the weird ‘then I knew I was in love’ stuff from a couple of the pastas (then again I’m ace and demiro so starting romance is just generally weird) but it is just a really good series. Sans ends up with seven kids in the third book and, while everyone else in the Undertale cast is bashed in the first two, Papyrus does seem to get some redemption in the third, so there is that. Also Murderer Sans is a fantastic tag, Gaster made a deal with Zalgo to create the skelebros and Sans is more demon than Papyrus by a lot and Zalgo is trying to kidnap Sans and Sans’ children so he has his family together to destroy the world and wander free and it’s wild and also Chara and Flowey show up and also LJ being an angel is mentioned and relevant to the plot for a bit so that’s neat and I don’t know all the details of how it ends because I lost it when I shifted and didn’t want to find where I was but it’s a great fic (albeit with a few things I can argue on) and the author has also been writing other Sans x Creepypasta stuff but I haven’t read it because idk
I really wish I had a good Minecraft fanfic to gush about but I really don’t it’s hard to find Minecraft fic that isn’t tuber-based, either Dream and friends (which occasionally I find a good one but so much is either Dream SMP which I have no interest in getting into, involves people I don’t know from Dream SMP, or just is shippy or straight-up doesn’t have a premise I’m interested in) or Hermitcraft (I fell behind so I have no idea what’s happening anymore) (but also like Mianite and Aphmau stuff but not as much as used to, but now Dream rules all so), and it just sucks. Like if some of it was Team Crafted fic I would be on board like hell yeah give me that nostalgia juice but it’s so much shit I just don’t know. I love the idea of Minecraft fanfic because there are so many options for the world and you can either make your own characters and you probably have to but then there’s just if you use Steve Alex Herobrine or Notch how they are written depends on the author and I live for that shit it’s a big part of why I read Creepypasta fic it’s because I like when there are different ways characters can be done (not unsympathetic or sympathetic like Patton so much like straight-up different characters) like Herobrine and Notch are the big ones like good vs evil, involved vs not, serious vs comedic, there are so many different ways to play them and I’m so disappointed AO3 doesn’t have much of it and so much of it is just Dream stuff and it usually just isn’t what I’m after in a fic.
The only other fics coming to mind right now are two wildly different fics involving Springtrap x Reader, one of them is being transferred from Wattpad for copy reasons, complete with tiny-ass chapters and that language that’s just so middle-school in the best way possible (like William and Springtrap are different consciousnesses and they way the author describes their struggle at one point is just so similar to a stupid thing I did and I have so much affection for it) and the other is legitimately really really good and the reader-insert has recently found out that Springtrap is William Afton and has murdered many children and they are currently dying multiple times to help his victims pass on because they can see ghosts and it’s actually really good and I have no idea where things are going, reader has currently met up with Michael Afton, currently all purple and dead and stuff, and has learned about remnant (weird-ass shit from modern FNAF lore) and it’s getting wild. I feel like there are two types of FNAF fic, ones in the style of FNAF 3/4 and earlier and ones from maybe 4 onward. Like ones where the lore was basically ‘bad man committed murder against children and they’re possessing the animatronics and that’s why they’re trying to kill you’ and then 4 starts having some more expansive lore ish and then after that it just goes everywhere with remnant and scooping and even more locations and also the books matter probably??? There is this one fic involving Glitchtrap that hasn’t updated in a bit and it’s fun, I like the idea of Glitchtrap and really wish I could read more fic just centered around FNAF VR. Then again, BEN was always one of my favorites and after I stopped being absolutely terrified of Herobrine I really liked his possibilities, maybe I just like the story utility and possible execution of characters with wide-ranging powers over technology and affecting the real world outside of it, IDK.
Ok I’m out of ramble energy, and also topics unless I go more in-depth about specific character options, but my energy is gone so I think that’s the end of it. I typed 3,000 words about fanfictions I’m reading and probably could have talked more about some of them if I wanted. This is my new hyperfixation. I guess. At least I know I have one, it’s reassuring to know for some reason, like for a while I missed how much Pokemon was my life in elementary school and Minecraft was in sixth grade, like it was nice just having something to focus on, though maybe that’s just the college and depression talking.
That was good, I’m glad I did that. Y’all are loved.
If you seriously read this entire thing... Wow. I really appreciate you digitally listening to me talking about random fanfic shit that I like. You’re really really cool.

Eclair: Goddess’s toy
Alt title: How I wound up with a fehking fifth Kiransona
The tl;dr of it involves formas, Kamui being a dumb-butt, and Kyo being just a bit more poor.
Tumblr media
Anyone remember this thing? Neither did I, and it’s frequently taking all my willpower not to repeatedly call it a soul gem.
In Hall of Forms, Loki and Thorr both introduce the concept of formas, and they have the following exchange:
Loki: Still playing with your dolls? They seem to fascinate you so.
Thorr: Do not belittle them, Loki. They contain strength neither you nor I possess.
Loki:  Oh, do they? This despite the fact that they aren't...real? They may look like Heroes, but they're nothing more than toys created by Alfaðör. They're weaklings. Babies that can barely walk, let alone fight.
Thorr:  That is the very reason I am interested. They may lack power... but they are filled with potential. They work together, push themselves...expend every last drop of strength to grasp victory. And then they acquire new strength. What do they do then? Use it to take on stronger foes... This is what strength is. It is pure and true. And it is strength we will never know. You could learn much if you were to witness their battles.
Loki:  Fine! Well... I do like battles that have...a certain element of uncertainty.  Just how far can these pitiful dolls go? Perhaps I should take a look.
At many points, Erin, Teru, Sparrow and Kyo alternated on who would enter the Hall of Forms, and thus, for the remainder of time the halls were open, who would train the spontaneously-created formas who dwelled and sought strength and guidance this time. In a few cases, their s-supports would take up the task instead, for their own reasons: To free their summoner’s hands, to clear their minds, to see them as practice to train pupils, because they wanted to protect and guide them, lots of reasons.
But there was never a point the formas took forms as anything other than clones of other heroes until the one time Loki and Thorr thought otherwise.
It was Loki who planted the idea to create a forma in the likeness of a summoner. None of the four summoners were lulled easily by Loki’s whims, wavered under Thorr’s might, or especially had any effect to whatever power either could hold to bind them by contract, nor interest. If nothing else, their own contracts protected their fellow heroes from their whims, whether or not the four had any interest to make more of it, or to what degree.
If she was going to have more of these dolls suddenly come into existence, it wouldn’t hurt to research how a summoner operates by just making one themselves, right? Surely, Alfaðör would agree as well, they knew the process to make one for themselves, and it would eventually wither and die over time anyways, so where’s the problem?
Well...
The first problem was how there were four summoners gathered in just that one timeline alone (nevermind that one hops between this one and their own, Sparrow,) and the four of them not only have vastly conflicting looks and personalities, and different ways they utilized their own versions of Breidablik and its powers with their own. To say nothing of the sheer number of alternate universes with their own summoners, their various powers and potentials, or for that matter, the summoners who came before these four. Thorr tried to focus on one summoner in particular, and modeled a forma after him.
Tumblr media
And this is what led to the creation of this dumb bastard right here.
---
Appearance-wise, he took heavily from The First Summoner of legend: Kiran. However, when he was created, he, unlike many formas (who were otherwise made by Alfaðör), didn’t remember what his “original” life or purpose was, and he also proved that, in not being technically a hero himself, he lacked the strength, drive, or much of any means to be all that effective a fighter in that brief period the hall of forms opened once more.
And yet, at the time it opened, it was Kamui who happened to find him, and he immediately felt protective and drawn to the completely lost and oblivious summoner, convincing Kamui he has amnesia.
Fortunately, Kamui studied on legendary summoners thanks to Lifonse’s ramblings on history and what books in Askr’s library they would read together.
Unfortunately, he misremembered that the legendary First Summoner this forma summoner resembled was named Eclat (rather than Kiran, Eclat being among the summoners to come after Kiran), and even that he couldn’t remember clearly, so he wound up teaching this forma that his name was Eclair instead.
In the barely-two-weeks that the hall remained open, Kamui was highly diligent to return to the halls every day to meet up and encourage Eclair, soothing his insecurities of proving himself unfortunately useless, and also unfortunately proving to Kamui that as a forma, he was incapable of leaving the halls, or even existing outside it, no matter how much he wished he could join Kamui to wherever the Vallite dragon prince would continuously leave to.
What’s more, even for his original purpose, his Breidablik that Loki and Thorr crafted for him couldn’t summon anything within the halls, lacked the ability to make contracts, and also seemed woefully useless in combat, lacking in pretty much every power the other summoners openly demonstrated otherwise, ruling him as an utter failure.
As he became even more aware by the other summoners that a forma will die once the hall closes again, Kamui became even more anxious about losing Eclair, especially as Eclair’s health weakened, and so had his self-worth. Just as time would’ve run out, and Eclair would’ve ceased to exist, it was Erin who brought up the existence of soul gems called “forma souls”, and to Kamui’s immense relief, Kyo had one such treasure in his convoy.
So he used it, and with it, he gave Eclair life and pulled him out of the Hall of Forms for the first time, just before his fellow formas would’ve collapsed and died with the world the halls contained that season.
---
Alas, Kyo was left grieving for suddenly going from spending a pretty penny on a gemstone that can grant him a hero of his (selective) choosing, to being wasted on basically a cookie-cutter summoner, but while he didn’t voice his thoughts, he was the slowest to open up to Eclair when Erin tried to otherwise teach him how to use items, while Teru and Sparrow introduced him to pokemon and digimon training respectively.
Although he initially proves useless, and he is nigh identical to the manga depiction of Kiran in Everyday Life, he is constantly self-conscious from his experience nearly dying in the Hall of Forms. He was reminded constantly that he had been artificially created, and he was not meant to be.
Compared to the other summoners, who had varying levels of insecurity to hide themselves for a time until they were all bonded with (except Kyo, who is the only one most assured of his human form, but shared similar insecurities in his transformed state instead), Eclair is far more firm and diligent to keep himself obscured at all times. As Kyo, Kamui and Lifonse unfortunately got to see, this is because for what Thorr couldn’t recall or identify of Kiran’s appearance, his transformation from a forma to a living being had “filled in the blanks” so to speak in a very unnatural way. His eyes are completely lifeless and glass-eyed, and his hair radiates an unusual color scheme that seems unnatural even when put side by side to other multicolored-haired heroes and summoners.
As it is found out (to surprising, disastrous results), once angered beyond a breaking point, he isn’t so harmless after all, and has an appearance comparable to Bramimond.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From his aura, to his eyes, to his unnatural glow, for better or worse, Lifonse and Kamui stressed Kyo into taking this unusual summoner under his wings, and eventually, the pokemorph summoner relented.
And it all started with this one small gemstone

Yugioh S3 Ep 29-30: LAVA GOLEM
Tumblr media
Ah, Kaiba island.
I’m not quite sure how big Kaiba island is. In this picture it looks like we got ourselves a 6 story building on the side, but if we compare the 6 story building to the tower it’s like...that’s a 100 story building, roughly? Our art team has given up trying to make this building look like anything other than what it looks like, and they’re just going to make a metallic cross-section of a dick every time it shows up.
Also, I kinda wish we saw a little bit more of the landing sequence to get here because....
Tumblr media
....did we do an Akira motorcycle slide into this island or is that just me?
Meanwhile, as Joey is duking it out on the world’s largest, coldest dildo, Serenity is stationed at the post she made for herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOL Why did they do this? Why would they design this?
(read more under the cut)
Inside the swamp cloud, Marik is shocked that Joey has been largely unphased by this horrific experience.
Tumblr media
Clearly Marik has not caught on that Joey’s been conditioned to this stuff living with Yugi for the past many years, and a little bit of pink spirit-sucking wires aren’t really much of a match for that time Joey saw Yugi light a guy on fire with a match once. Well, a lighter. Either way, this isn’t so bad.
Tumblr media
And then, I don’t really talk about card games here, but Marik introduces a new card I have not seen before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behold, Lava Golem.
Tumblr media
Look at him! Like I know everyone’s kinda freaking out about the new pokemon but like...Lava Golem? Remember that sweet face?
He’s just soooooo good.
Man this is the first Yugioh card ever that I’ve actually liked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, upon seeing this terrifying situation, Tea turns to Yugi and says:
Tumblr media
Thanks Tea.
Also during these few episodes, Marik is starting to undergo a transformation, mostly via his viens. It’s a look. Kind of worried about his blood pressure.
Tumblr media
And I was thinking that they just invented a a chin vein, but, as it turns out, they actually did their research.
Tumblr media
There is a vein there! I mean this isn’t really that big a deal to most of you, probably, but anime often gets a bad rap for ignoring anatomy (which ... it’s a cartoon so yeah that’s...that’s what you do in cartoons, you ignore most anatomy) but hey--they got this vein correct. I don’t know why they even bothered, but that was very nice of them to make something so gross so correct.
Tumblr media
And because some of you might want this just for yourself, cap free:
Tumblr media
Enjoy.
Along with this good boy.
Tumblr media
Is it just me? Is it just me that’s all ham about this Domo Kun face? This Mario mini-boss?
I usually don’t like the Yugioh monster designs but this one is just...he’s such a good boy.
Anyway, the art team was told at some point to change piss cloud and they decided to do this instead
Tumblr media
Why does the width keep changing on the tower? Like I know it was tossed between different artists but like...it just...it keeps changing and it bothers me.
Anyway, back to what matters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can this be our new Joey Wheeler? Just leave everything about Joey Wheeler the same but replace his sprite with Lava Golem and with no explanation. I’d be down.
I do think that this arc brought back their A-team for the animation, there was just a lot more going on visually than we’ve had in a good while. Like this Marik face, for instance--this very famous face that I’ve seen drawn on like...a whole lot of characters. This is a much-referenced pose.
Tumblr media
I mean, hey, not using reference while drawing is the same as dueling as Yugi Muto and just never using the Pharaoh. Like sure you could, but never, ever, ever do that.
And I just want you to know, I held that really corny anime art joke in for like a straight week on twitter as the entire world was going off about whether or not you’re supposed to use reference materials when you draw as if this is some sort of controversial topic (it’s not. No one cares about your process.) and y’all, it was HARD. But I did it. I resisted the discourse and still found a way to sneak it into here, into the side blog where I can go off about the inane art twitter discourse without getting blocked.
Which, again, was about “Can I use reference?” I...art twitter. Art twitter, I swear. why would you NOT? You have the Pharaoh, art twitter. You have the Pharaoh.
Anyway, I hope at least one of you got that joke. I hope one of you at least was like “lol--Art Reference is the Heart of the Cards.” and the next time someone tells you that using reference is cheating (which will never happen, a infinitesimal number of people in one forum on DeviantArt in 2003 said this once in the entire history of art, and I don’t know why twitter is fighting with these child-run forums that don’t even exist anymore) you can say “Don’t you dare talk about my platonic soulmate that way.” and just end the argument there.
The hell are these people who say artists don’t use reference? Do you write history papers without reading books?
And that’s my rant that was a.) too long for twitter and also b.) maybe too much anime. With art twitter it’s like..there’s no middle ground between too much anime and not enough anime. No middle ground and I have no idea where the people who follow me even stand. I think they just want to see Zelda. I think that’s about it. I really can’t tell with them. I’m like...always confused as to what those people want.
I need to delete my twitter. Anyways, back to Joey, who felt like breaking the fourth wall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so Marik decides to sober up and play the God card.
Yo guys, remember God Cards? I’ll be honest, I kinda completely forgot about them.
Tumblr media
And then at some point this shot happened and I was living for it.
Tumblr media
such a good idea to offset people in a different filter and kinda stack em. Bro was saying he remembered this sort of thing in Cowboy Bebop but I don’t remember what the hell he’s talking about. Bro and his spicy headcanons are mixing up Yugioh and Cowboy Bebop now. Never thought I’d see that.
And then Kaiba’s muscles kinda twitched and it looked like smiling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man, were there a lot of phoenix references in the 00′s or is that just me who read way too much Harry Potter?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And like, because I do draw Yugi sometimes, occasionally people will reblog and tag with Pharaoh’s real name in there (I can’t really avoid that spoiler), so I think it’s pretty likely his name comes from Atum of Egyptian legend. Who...wasn’t really a Pharaoh. Atum was kinda weird, he gave birth to...himself. He’s an interesting read. But, we’ll get there when we get there.
But, I didn’t really know about Bennu pyramids until I actually went and looked up Egyptian Phoenixes. I had always thought that the Phoenix was Greek in origin but, according to Wikipedia some people say it happened in Egypt as well. And if it’s good enough for Wikipedia, it’s good enough for Yugioh.
Tumblr media
The return of the mystery purple moisturizer jug and it brought it’s entire extended family of fiji waters.
Tumblr media
And so, Ishizu decides to do the right thing and take care of Mai. Not sure what Ishizu knows about being a nurse since she lived underground, but since she can help cure poisonous snake bites, maybe comas are a little bit easier?
Tumblr media
And so Serenity starts the 30 minute jog up the phallic tower to get to Joey’s death sequence. She’s made it to about...20 ft outside of the plane by the end of this episode. Serenity runs kinda slow.
Tumblr media
Bro mentioned that he thinks it looks like Tea’s trying to very stealthily steal Yugi’s wallet. And that’s just my spicy headcanon now, too.
Well now that’s over, lemme see if...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
.......it could’ve happened. It only has like a couple of human skulls on it.
And hey if this is the first recap you’ve ever seen from me, here’s a link to read them all from the beginning in Chrono order, back when they weren’t color coded and I had no idea what the hell I was doing.

11 tag game!
Tagged by @boredwriter-16 thank you!! :D
1. What is your favorite theme from your WIP? Did you know that would be a theme when you started or did it just happen naturally?
(I’m going to go with Bristlecone because my current wips aren’t really done enough on this front to judge themes) Basically I love the theme of just like, growth and moving past bad things. I don’t think it was really intentionally when I was starting it, but I liked the way it turned out here.
2. What are your favorite tropes to read and write?
I love like, super hardened characters with soft spots that they only show to people they trust. I love reading and I try writing it every now and then too
3. Where do you draw inspiration for your WIP?
Oof… kind of everywhere. Anywhere from my university courses (ie learning a fact, but what if…), random news snippets, video games, vague concepts, aesthetics, older wips…
4. If your characters were real, would they want to be friends with you or would they not like you?
I don’t know if we’d get along as close friends, but mostly because our personalities might not match up that much. We wouldn’t hate each other though… Probably.
5. Have you ever written fan fiction about your own story? (Something you know would never actually be in your story but you want to see what it would look like anyway) Would you ever do it if you haven’t?
Not yet. It sounds like fun but like, who has the time??? (I wish I did)
6. What is your favorite entertainment medium- other than books if that is your favorite? (Movies, Video games, TV-shows, etc.) Why?
VIDEO GAMES :D I love playing video games, mostly Nintendo stuff like Spaltoon (2), legend of Zelda, pokemon, Mario kart (aka one of the only games im kind of good at) and other stuff like undertale/deltarune
7. Quick- your WIP is being made into a movie. Name one actor you want to be in it. Doesn’t have to be the main character.
Oooohh, aaaa… I have to admit, I’m not familiar with a lot of acting people 0_0
8. Favorite villain from either something you wrote or something you read/watched?
Ooh this is a tough one. I really like Lady Eboshi from Princess Monoke (though idk if she fully counts as a villain or more of an antagonist). She was the kind that believed what she was doing was best for her city and that kind of stuff, which I found really neat.
I also thought that the king from deltarune (I cant remember if he had an actual name lmao) was a pretty good villain because I hated him after only meeting him for a few moments before the actual boss fight.
9. (Because I like this question so much) Whose your favorite secondary character you’ve ever created?
I liked Stark! He was a character that was supportive towards the main characters while still having his own life and issues and positions on things. Plus he was just fun to write!
10. Do you have any other WIP ideas you want to work on but can’t because you want to finish your WIP? Are they very different from your current WIP?
YES so many. And I’m starting to thinkg that I’ll just have to suck it up and try to do both (or three) at once, but since ive been trying to write the city of eventide and the space reboot one at the same time, it’s been harder and harder to keep up with the space one. Now im also thinking of ideas for another one and im swamped.
11. Other than the genre you write, what are your favorite genres?
I like actiony stuff sometimes, but I suck at writing it myself. I also like complicated mysteries and high fantasy, but I don’t have the patience for a lot of those kinds of things.
Tagging: @iamidentical, @dramaticvoiceover, @waterfallwritings, @fatal-blow @piratequeenofpixies, @corishadowfang, @crikewrite and anyone else who wants to answer some questions!
My questions under the cut
1-      Do you like to have a snack or a drink while you write?
2-      What kind of genres do you think that you’ll never ever write (for whatever reason)?
3-      When did you first start writing?
4-      Why did you first start writing?
5-      When you work on the computer, do you like loud keyboards or quiet ones?
6-      Do you have any writing friends in real life?
7-      What kinds of things do you like to do when you’re not writing?
8-      Do you ever draw on your own experiences in your writing?
9-      Who (if anyone) do you share your writing with?
10-   What are your favorite themes to put in your writing?
11-   Would you ever want a movie or tv series adaptation of your wip? How do you picture it?

Seeing iKON live for the first time: a reflection
So last Thursday and Saturday I saw iKON live for the first time, in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. Here are my thoughts.
Random thoughts:
- Before the Sydney show I was nervous af. Honestly, I couldn’t eat, couldn’t concentrate on shit, I was trembling, I was alternating between rambling like a madwoman and sitting in silence staring into space. My poor sister thought I was losing it. Think Hanbin in On Hiatus when Bobby texts him he’s outside his house and wants to speak to him in chapter 4. I was THAT.
- I was so nervous because I felt like there was SO much at stake. I’ve written sooo much about these boys (over 337,000 words?!), I’ve spent so much time (enjoyable time lol) wondering about them, hypothesising how they’d respond to different situations, basically doing full on character studies. I was so scared that I’d go to the concert and what if....I’d gotten them wrong, I’d totally misunderstood them...what if they weren’t quite like what I imagined. What would happen then?? Would I be disappointed in myself?? Disappointed by them?? That wouldn’t be fair to them at all because they are PEOPLE not CHARACTERS!! And I would be disappointed in myself about that too!! So anyway, long story short, I was terrified some kind of disappointment would be inevitable.
- So of course I was nervous (bats aggressively swooping in my stomach) right up till when they finally appeared. However, I was amazed that instead of feeling awe, or surprise, or disbelief, when I saw them lined up about to begin Bling Bling, I just felt insanely happy. Like childishly, innocently, joyously happy.
- I was so thrilled by how good the vocal line sounded live. Their voices sound SO clear, strong and full of colour. It was amazing to FEEL their voices echo and project in the room. The sound was better in Sydney however, for some reason their voices were more muffled in Melbourne, not sure why. May have been to do with my location in Festival Hall.
- I wish Sydney iKONICS were a bit more friendly to one another. I felt like a village idiot when I smiled at some people and they just looked at me with confused, dead eyes. Like come one guys, can’t we all bond over this incredible experience?! Can’t we kill time in the massive-ass queue by getting excited together (But Sydney is a catty city, so that didn’t surprise me too much tbh) ?!?!
- They were all SO so So sweet and very endearing. They were just...adorable. I felt so affectionate and proud of them.
Now, about the Boys themselves:
- They were all INCREDIBLY handsome in real life. Even more handsome than on tv or in photoshoots. Like, I dunno what it is about seeing them in real life, but they were just really stunning.
- In Sydney especially they were tired (but did a very noble job of pushing through). In particular Hanbin, and I felt a wave of concern for him when he was bent over puffed at one stage. Bobby and Donghyuk were up there hyping up the crowd with “WHO WANTS ANOTHER SONG” and poor Bin was just shaking his head laughing, trying to catch his breath. You could really tell he was ready for a good 15 hours of sleep.
- In Melbourne they all seemed to be more rested, except maybe Bobby. He did his very best not to let on he was tired, (and don’t get me wrong, he still had plenty of energy) but he was a bit more reserved in Melbourne than in Sydney and struggled to get his words out more when speaking english. Every now and again he seemed a bit distracted in Melbourne, like maybe his concentration was off.
- The one thing that DID blow my mind, was that ALL of them - but especially double b - were exactly as I had imagined and written them to be. As a writer, I’ve tried my best to interpret them as accurately as possible from the sources given to us: tv shows, performance recordings, the music, the survival shows, the interviews, the radio appearances, etc. etc. How this whole time I’ve also been acutely aware, that no matter how hard I try, how can I truly get a “vibe” from someone when I haven’t seen them in person. Seeing them live made everything make sense.
- Bobby had this gorgeous, outward energy, just the way I imagined him to be. He was so sweet towards the boys, but also devilishly cheeky and when he got the chance. As for his interaction with the audience, you could really tell he wanted to give us a good performance, it was like he really wanted to give us a gift and for us to love it. You could really feel how lucky he felt to have us there screaming and singing along, how appreciative he was (like dude, no, thank YOU!! NOT US!!). In Melbourne a small smile he shared with Hanbin suggested that special connection which made my heart soar. They clearly have a very deep connection, whatever that may be. Overall I would describe him in real life as Generous and uplifting.
- Han Fucking Bin, my ultimate bias. Oh god. I was blown away by how similar he is in real life to how I have imagined. He had this incredibly complex, fascinating energy riddled with paradoxes. He was eccentric yet very in tune with the crowd, dorky yet intimidating, reserved/shy but very sweet, rather dreamy and in his own world, yet always very in control, unassuming yet also proud and a bit aloof. Maybe aloof isn’t the right word...maybe detached? But I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think he has a very good poker face, it’s his professional/leader face. He takes his responsibility to deliver a good concert very seriously and so he doesn’t always look like he can “let himself go.” But at the same time, I really got a sense that underneath the poker face he was feeling a lot, thinking a lot. He was doing a lot of work, but keeping that to himself.. Finally, he struck me as someone who has made the brave commitment to be himself unapologetically, but he’s still learning who exactly he is. I’m really excited to how he turns out, but if my gut feeling is right, he will only continue developing as a person, he won’t just find himself and stop there. He is like a pokemon, there are going to be many evolutions for him and that’s EXACTLY why I love him so much. I would sum him up in real life as Sensitive and Inquiring.
- Jinhwan was just as feisty, cheeky and cute coy as I imagined. He was in high spirits, and I think he’d impressed himself with his english skills so he was very confident on stage, he really knew how to work the crowd. I really got a sense of his love of attention. He was so charming, cute and willing to indulge the crowd. I didn’t see his mum-side but I’m glad about that because I feel like he doesn’t need to be in that mode when all the boys are having fun on stage, he can just focus on being his naughty, sexy self. I would summarise him as Playful and Engaging.
- Donghyuk was a total darling and omg he looks soooo handsome in real life. I really got a sense of his attentiveness towards the fans, he really did his best to engage with us, asking questions, complimenting the city he was in, joking around, singing other songs whenever he got the chance. Diligent and Caring, that’s DK in a nutshell.
- June!!! So June was like Chanwoo and Yun, they kinda let the other boys take the floor and lead the show. Totally fair enough. I can’t begin to imagine how vulnerable one must feel when you have no idea wtf the being said and you’re up there on stage with everyone watching. Two things with June. One, I could NOT believe how dramatically handsome he was in real life. Like, his raven-black “comma-styled” hair, the way it contrasted so boldly with his pale skin, his muscular tallness, the way his white t-shirt hung off his frame so casually yet perfectly, his striking brows, strong profile and chiseled jawline...like, he was GODLY.  Out of this world. From another universe. He was stunning. In terms of the vibe he gave me in real life: Cool and eccentric.
- Yun!!! Bless him!!! I really just wanted to hear more from him...although i totally get why he didn’t have the means to express himself more. But what he couldn’t communicate through words he really poured into his singing and interaction with the fans. I was really impressed by his voice live, he has such a nice warm tone. And he really put heart into his lines and high notes. His showmanship was very impressive. I would summarise him as heartfelt and emotive.
- Chanwoo was SO SO gorgeous in real life. Even from where I stood at the back his eyes stood out so well. He was reserved but not lacking in confidence, he was shy but also very sincere and sweet. His vocals were brief but his husky tone is awesome. I would summarise him as observant and alert.
- Overall Seeing them was really amazing, it was such a positive experience. All I feel now is the bittersweetness of it all. Before I didn’t know what it was like to miss them, that wasn’t something I had to deal with being a distant aussie fan. But now I’ve seen them twice in three days, I now know what that is like to be in their presence. And honestly, I miss them so much already. my heart feels bruised. Laaaaaaaame.
p.s. @mvssmallow I hope you have regained hearing in your left ear. I’m sorry I yelled so loud and so consistently throughout the ENTIRE show. You’re a legend for putting up with my drunken nerves.
