No Shame || Grey
@gem-morey
Pixie’s was hopping on this particular Saturday Night. There was a good band on, the music was loud, the staff busy and the patrons happy. Well - most of the patrons. Aside one Gregory Eeyore, who was loitering by the outskirts of the bar. Now, it wasn’t Pixie’s itself that was making the man displeased, of course - but just his general attitude. State of being, more like. Greg didn’t often frequent Pixie’s. At least... not without a friend or a reason (ie; celebration, date, etc) - but today he had...a very different reason.
See - he was stuck watching one Gem Morey filter in and out of the crowd. Normally, Gregory wouldn’t talk to Gem. He was afraid of Gem. Gem was mean, and rude and standoffish and arguably the worst Morey brother - but.. he was also the one he needed at the moment, wasn’t he? So when he seemed to be pulling away from a conversation, Gregory forced himself to shift in beside him, immediately gesturing for two shots their way before he turned his gaze gently towards Gem’s own.

Here's the thing that really broke me about the goyische left's response to the Hamas massacre: once again, the uncritical, antisemitic double standard for Israel and Jews versus literally anyone else has now expanded to assume that Jews do not deserve human rights or have lost them by virtue of being Israeli.
Let's say, for a moment, that you have been radicalized to really believe that the Hamas attack on civilians was a liberatory action, perhaps unfortunate that it targeted unarmed civilians, but what else were they supposed to do? Besides, Israel has visited similar and worse attacks on Palestine for years, so turnabout is fair play, especially in service of the struggle of liberation of a brutally oppressed group. [To be clear: I take issue with this and find it morally repugnant. But for the moment, let's accept arguendo this belief as a baseline.]
Do you really include rape, torture, killing children at all but especially in front of their parents, or killing parents in front of their children and taking hostages of the survivors, beheading infants, trapping and burning families hidden together alive, stripping and parading hostages naked through the street, mutilating and displaying the bodies of the dead proudly and celebrating their deaths, and doing all of this on a holy day where Jewish people the world over are supposed to be celebrating the end of the holiday season and the beginning of a new cycle of Torah learning. On a day that people will be resting, with their families, unarmed and in their holy spaces, and are explicitly commanded to be happy.
.......amongst the "unfortunate-but-necessary violent struggle?"
Like even if you believe in your heart of hearts that all Israelis should die or at least are acceptable casualties in the struggle, do you really believe that there is any excuse for the above atrocities? If you do, I need you to ask yourself some things:
Do you think there is any justification for the manner and cruelty of the deaths?
Do you really think that there is anything a person could do in order to deserve any of these actions as a sentence?
Was the cruel nature of this, designed to inflict the greatest amount of trauma on the survivors and the Jewish people at large, actually necessary to accomplishing the goal of liberation?
Would you accept any of these actions being done to any other group?
If you are a white American, do you think you personally deserve this yourself for everything the United States has done to the native population (never mind anyone else)?
Do you think that civilians can be held 100% accountable for their government's actions? Is that a standard you yourself would like to be judged by?
If context is important, how is the last 2000 years of brutal antisemitism from virtually every part of the world not also relevant context? How is the Holocaust not relevant? The Farhud?
Do you think refugees fleeing genocide should be able to live wherever they can and that other countries and peoples have a duty to step up and take them in? If so, would you call refugees of genocide colonists and settlers?
Do you think that children should have to answer for the crimes of adults? That it is ever okay to kill them in cold blood?
Do you think that non-combatant deaths should ever be celebrated?
Theoretically, if the only way Hamas could accomplish its goal (which we will assume arguendo is Palestinian liberation, despite the mounds of evidence against that) is to kill whatever Israelis they could get their hands on, don't you think that a valid liberation force would just kill people as efficiently as possible rather than take the time to brutalize and humiliate them first? Wouldn't that be the more morally understandable thing to do?
Do you think it's ever okay to mock or talk down to people grieving their dead, no matter who they were, especially if they were random citizens rather than, say, high-profile politicians?
These questions to me are unanswerable and the fact that they are even in question at all unjustifiable. The left has either actively participated in this or remained silent in the face of it. And too many friends who I thought were allies have failed to reach out to even ask if we're okay, let alone made even the weakest of condemnations of the brutality my people have experienced this week.
This tells me that you think my humanity, as a Jew, is conditional. That my right not to experience war crimes is up for debate.
How am I supposed to trust you ever again? Feel safe in your presence? Collaborate with you on other issues? Why should I?
For the people who are posting about the situation yet failed to condemn the torture and brutality against my people, please know that I will likely never fully believe you that you are for restorative justice, against the death penalty, against cruel and unusual punishment, against sexual violence, for children's rights and against the murder of children, against terrorism, against civilian casualties, for the rights and protection of refugees, for freedom of movement, support indigenous groups, and certainly certainly anyone claiming to be against antisemitism. There will forever and always be an asterisk next to your statements in favor of universal human rights which reads: *except Jews.

Petunia's coat seems like it's getting less greasy in the last few photos! If so, is it because she's allowing pets now? I've noticed with taming ferals that petting improves coat quality - a form of grooming, I suppose.
It’s still very greasy to the touch tbh but I would say it’s a tiny bit better than usual? That being said she’s pretty clumpy rn. In the past I’ve brought her to the clinic and we’ve sedated her to get brushed out. Then when she got a little more tame I was able to brush her out at the clinic without her being sedated bc she did the “if I don’t move nobody will hurt me” thing.
Now it’s been a couple months since she got any brushing because I’ve been doing her nail trims at home with help from my mom. So she is pretty clumpy above her tail :|
I brushed one of them out earlier today and she wanted to bite me soooooo bad but she resisted. I showed her the clump afterwards so she’d understand why I was torturing her. She looked disgusted

Reading The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe with my son on Easter Tuesday and he was so shocked and confused and bereft when Aslan died. Then we had to stop for a very gloomy lunch before we could read the next chapter, and it hit me that he was getting a better understanding than anything we could have taught him about what the disciples went through on Easter Saturday. I mean, we had just been talking about it three days earlier, but of course when you know there's a happy ending coming, you don't really feel it. And Aslan was finally here, after all this hope and expectation, and he was meant to make everything all right again 😭 He'd even already made the connection to Jesus when the witch's gang were kicking and hitting and jeering at Aslan, but he never in his wildest dreams thought he would become alive again! The joy and wonder and absolute glee he felt in the next chapter — he figured it out just before it happened because he cottoned onto the homage — preached the whole thing more eloquently than I could ever have hoped. And oof, if I didn't feel it all with him, too, as if for the first time ❤️ Well played, Mr Lewis, well played.
Also yesterday I caught him saying "I say!" so a positive experience all round 😃

Something about Hua Cheng's expression here is killing me--I know this is supposed to be a delicate moment of reassurance but the pure hater energy radiating off of him is just immaculate

"Obviously I care for you an immense deal..."
Now that imodna is sailing more towards a romantic relationship instead of a (queer)platonic one, this sentence has been on my brain since the episode aired.
Because while Laudna said that, you saw everyone around the table hold their breath, because it sounds like the start of a rejection. but it's not. and this is such a beautiful (perhaps unintentional) representation of aromantic and/or asexual love. As in, our love and the way we love and express that love get misinterpreted sometimes.
"Obviously I care for you an immense deal", was not a rejection and that much becomes clear when Laudna continues. But the sentence itself was never "I care for you but not like that". It's a: "I care for you an immense deal, and I'm not even sure how to define that care and love for you. But I do. So, so damn deeply...!"
Of course, Laudna loves Imogen. She has stated so many episodes already. ("It transcends words, our relationship" <- literally doesn't know how to describe her feelings for Imogen, they're that strong!!). But since she hasn't "accessed that part of her brain" in decades, it's going to take some time to get used to certain expressions of love that haven't been on her mind in so long (if ever at all?).
And so far, Laudna does seem open to those expressions! Her stunned but enthusiastic "alright" is a great example of that. Like "Oh. Yeah! I hadn't really thought about kissing you, but now that you mention it? Yes. Sounds lovely! Let's do it."
i don't have a crystal ball or anything but I can totally see a very similar approach to Laudna as we saw with Keyleth (who is canonically demisexual). To me Laudna is definitely somewhere on the aro/ace spectrum who is comfortable being in a (romantic) relationship with her partner. She doesn't mind sharing kisses, if only because it's a way to be close to Imogen, and doesn't shy away from intimacy.
"Obviously I care for you an immense deal..." right after their first kiss. It's like Laudna is saying:
"Love is weird, but loving you is not."

First kisses: Mortarion exclusive ~♡
Probably out of character so um. Apologies for that.
“Clumsy,” he mutters, but  you can hear the way his tone lifts with amusement. He shakes his head, some of his long hair slipping out from the bun he’s pinned it back in as he lifts you upright with ease, dusting off some of the flour from your arm. He gives you a quick once-over, you playfully wipe some of the flour off on his shirt. He scoffs and reaches over to take the screaming kettle off the stove, “it should be ready soon,” he says, right as the timer chimes insistently. Mortarion passes you the oven mits and you lean down, the familiar smell of chamomile wafting up with the steam as he slips the ceramic lid onto the teapot and you bring the small loaf out of the oven, setting it on the counter. “Normally it’s cooked in the coals of a fire,” he says, “you were saying that earlier. And once it’s cooled down a bit, you eat it with syrup, right?” you reply, watching as the taps the base of the loaf and nods. “Hollow,” you say to the noise, “that’s how you know it’s cooked,” he hums, looking pleased, scarred lips twisted into a little smile as you pour yourself some tea, “where did I put that bread knife?” he asks himself, turning around to survey the kitchen. He spots it by the sink and potters back over to the loaf, slicing off a piece and watching the puff of steam rise from within. He picks up the jug of syrup and pours it over the slice, offering it to you as a bit of the dark golden liquid drips over his hand. You take a bite. The syrup is thick and sweet and the bread is thick and warm, you can feel your cheek getting sticky and hear Mortarion scoff again affectionately as he cuts a thick slice for himself. Both are demolished in mere moments and you find yourself chuckling at him as he licks his hand like a cat. “Let me get that for you,” he says, glancing around before sinking to one knee, wincing as his rear thuds against the cabinet as he slouches down close enough to reach you. He grasps your chin gently and turns your face to the side, leaning in. He licks the sticky syrup off, tongue hot against your cheek. He licks across the corner of your lips and pauses. He pulls away a little, you look at him, breath caught in your throat. “May I kiss you?” He asks, voice quiet. You nod. His lips are soft but dry, and all you can smell is syrup and chamomile.
