@brieflyimpossiblecreation Fun! I did end up going with a more human but to the left character design to fit in better with my idea of where they were in cannon. Part two
-----------
To say that things had gone terribly would be an understatement. The Ghost Investigation Ward had tried out their latest Weapon of Mass Destruction™️ meant to tear a hole open into the Infinite Realms so they could send in a different WoMD™️ (they clearly hadn't taken the Fenton's refusal to give them access to their portal well)
Fortunately for Team Phantom the Weapon didn't actually open a hole into the Infinite Realms.
Unfortunately for Team Phantom it did open a interdimensional portal to somewhere. And because Danny seemed to be lucks favorite punching bag he was sucked into said portal. Naturally Sam and Tucker were pulled in as well, because they were Ride or Die definitely not because they had been too close to get away in time; really.
While Danny's luck was bad Sam and Tucker had relatively decent luck which seemed to help cancel it out giving them the advantage of falling into a cornfield; a blow Sam was able to soften with usage of her power courtesy of being an exemplary host for Undergrowth.
---------
A man waded through piles of snapped corn stalks. He'd been on his early morning rounds when the crash had sounded in the early morning quiet.
As he came upon the crash site he noticed three small bodies, small compared to those he interacted with in the daily to be exact. Three teenagers stared back at him. All three had eyes so bright they were almost neon and slightly pointed ears. The one who's skin was tinted a blue color appeared to have fangs. The one with the neon violet eyes and hair so dark it seemed to suck the shadows into was looking at the corn that leaned towards her like sunflowers to the sun. The last, who smelled of a hot desert day and had breath thag sounded like radio static opened his mouth but the man spoke before he had the chance.
"Martha! Get the guest rooms ready. It happened again!"

So we talked about how Tamarack's color palette matches with her favorite colors before. And since then, I've been wondering if Qiu has similar explanation behind their color palette as Tamarack does with hers.
But unlike Tamarack, Qiu's favorite color is only gold, and they don't even have it in their color palette. I guess their sweater can kinda fall on the gold spectrum, but this still doesn't explain the green jacket, the red scarf, or the other colors in their outfit.
So... does this stop me from trying to find some secret explanation behind those colors?
*Puts on tin foil hat*
Nope! Quite the opposite actually, I'm taking this as a personal challenge.
Let's start with the green jacket. It's easy to miss this line, but if MC says their favorite color is green, Qiu will mention that they like green too—the darker kinds, like how their jacket is.
Earlier, we considered their sweater looking pretty close to gold, but it is stated in the game that their sweater is orange, which is the color that both Qiu and Ren like.
(I personally disagree and think Qiu's sweater is brown, but maybe it's just me )
And following that pattern, I think we can also assume that the red in Qiu's scarf and sneakers comes from the color that Ren likes too.
But if their close friends' favorite colors is the pattern here, then what about Baxter?
Well, Baxter's favorite colors are black and white.
And guess what the colors of Qiu's bike (and helmet) are?
Okay. Yeah. I know I'm going overboard with the color analyzing. This is the kind of stuff your brain came up with on 3 am when you thought you had a big epiphany but then realized how silly it sounds after you write it down.
But intentional or not, I still think it's interesting that Tamarack's palette is mostly formed of her favorite colors, while Qiu's palette has their friends' favorites but lacks the one color that they like the most.
(Interestingly, though... step 2 is the time where they actually have gold in their color palette, but the colors they originally had in step 1 seem to disappear in that stage)

Hi Penny!! Have you ever played The Outer Worlds?
Yes!! I loved it!! It took me a couple years to really sink my teeth into it and click w it but once it did I became OBSESSED with it for at least a couple weeks. I honestly was like “This will tide me over until Starfield” at the time, and not only did I end up loving it noticeably more than most people seem to but now after playing both I actually think The Outer Worlds is the more appealing game of the two LOL, so I guess I’m waiting for The Outer Worlds 2 more than anything 🙃 I would love for there to be a game that has the same world building and writing quality of The Outer Worlds but with like… maybe a QUARTER of the scope of Starfield, just really focused into a few planets without the weird procedural generation of interest points.

my mom and dad being like "this episode could've been 3 minutes of sad lesbian and 1 minute stitching joel up" JUST SAY YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND FILMOGRAPHY AND MOVE ON. there are reasons for drawing things out if you didn't get attached to riley it wouldn't matter if you didn't understand ellie's fedra backstory her immunity and all that comes with it wouldn't mean anything if you didn't get the perspective on the fedra and firefly situation none of the second game would mean anything. if you didn't get this characterization of ellie and her interests and her being happy you wouldn't be invested in her story. ellie's "everybody fucking except for you!" wouldn't have context without riley's death. you don't GET IT.
