Ryuji definitely finds Conventionally Attractive Girls pretty, but he realizes around postgame that he genuinely formed crushes on THREE people; Akira, Makoto, and Goro. And all three of them are people who carry themselves as a bit Soft and Delicate (akira and makoto w their personality and mannerisms, goro w his appearance) while also being deceptively strong. Yusuke WOULD fit into this but hes only strong in the metaverse. Also if u tried to argue that he still finds yusuke pretty, Ryuji would just say ‘yeah duh? Of course???’ and would not elaborate further.

I just think. Its cute 👉🏾👈🏾 Ryuji loves someone whos pretty and capable of knocking him flat on his ass lmao He LOVES a challenge and he likes that they can all challenge him in different ways.

Akira is way stronger than he looks; hes very toned and he used to be quite active before being shipped off to tokyo. And after fighting in the metaverse, hes gotten way better at using an enemies mass and momentum against them. Yeah he can properly knock someone down, but its way easier to let Ryuji charge him and use that momentum to sweep and pin. Which Ryuji remembers vividly for Weeks. Akira is not allowed to spar w him and Makoto for awhile after that.

Makoto is just strong as hell. But shes very defensive, and extremely patient. ‘Ill wait and see before I decide What to do’. Shes got good reaction timing and its hard to catch her offguard. Its very difficult to disorient her so oftentimes, his spars w her are more about endurance. And if he ASKS her to do so, she’ll actually fight him back. He never wins 😭 but she is very patient w him and she doesnt treat him like an idiot. She likes to give him tips and redirect his strengths to make up for his weaknesses and it makes him a bit warm in this chest

Spars w Goro are just fun. Theyre fun! Goro is way more aggressive and reckless than Makoto and Akira. He is looking for openings near constantly and Ryuji has to either keep up or tank hits. Its very. Engaging. For him. Sometimes he loses and Goro is giving him a look so smug, Ryuji wishes he could kick him in his fucking teeth (something he clearly couldnt do bc hes already been knocked flat on his ass). And sometimes he wins, and hes so shocked and HAPPY about it; he doesnt miss the way Goro looks away from him pouting like a brat (‘no fucking way are u POUTING man, what a sore loser 😭’). Goro and his uptight personality is thrown out the window completely and its so fun and refreshing to see. Hes tall and imposing w broad shoulders and toned arms and if Ryuji is staring, he finds himself immediately distracted when Goros cheerful, softspoken voice asks if hes willing to go another round.

I love it 👉🏾👈🏾 Ryujis got a complicated relationship w violence but it helps to have people he trusts engage with it in a way that doesnt make him feel like some brute. Theyre all kind of itching to beat the shit out of things for multiple reasons, but instead of taking that out on each other, they spend time training one another so that they can beat the shit out of OTHER things better. Its an efficient system 😊

lemme tell you im starting to get a little sick of when im complaining about when a show or movie is writing a major female character with not as much depth as her male cohorts or she's written oddly plot device-like for a main character and people always tell me "oh but it's intentional, we're seeing her through the eyes of the male main character and he has a crush on her so he doesnt see her flaws" because like

FIRST of all yeah i get it but its hard to write that trope interestingly to me at this point without a lot of work put into subversion so intentionality doesnt make it any less boring

SECONDLY half the time people say this about ensemble cast stuff and like why is the random dude suddenly designated as the most perspective of all perspective characters when it comes to this specific woman. why dont we get to see the other characters perspectives on her too?

AND THIRDLY do people view women they have crushes on as bland plot devices without lives of their own enough irl that this is so universal in writing? isnt the point of having a crush wanting to hang out and know more about your crush, know about their likes and dislikes and all that. am i missing something here

I wanna see more fan theories about Alucards unexpected return at the end of Nocturne. And not just his return but also how you think each of the characters will react/get along with him.

Like there's Richter who is arguably probably the most acquianted with who Alucard is given he's seemingly the first one to recognize him and is the one to describe him as a 'legend'. But, like, whose legend exactly? A belmont legend? Or a european legend in general? Either way I think Richter might just be the quickest to trust Alucard. Partially because hes an ancestral ally but also because Alucard pretty directly saved his life.

But then theres everyone else.

Do Maria and Mizrak know who Alucard is? Or who Dracula was? If they recognize the latter but not the former will that effect how they see Alucard?

Annette definitely doesnt know who alucard is or what his story is, so I think she's the one I can most easily see raising the question of why they should trust and ally with this random vampire (dhampyr but I dunno if they'd identify that on sight). Thus giving a good reason for someone, either Richter or even Alucard himself, to give some exposition on the subject. Even after that though she may retain some standoffish caution around Alucard until his actiosn compound enough that shes able to trust him.

Mizrak, I think, may know who Dracula was and MAY even know some of the details of his destruction given he works for the church and the church is more likely to have kept records of the whole thing. Though if he DOES know its possible he's only gotten some very biased and/or inaccurate accounts given that I don't think Sypha or Trevor would have left their own account of events to the church. Oddly enough I can see Mizrak willingly working with Alucard. After all he had his whole relationship with Olrox (tho it didn't end well) and while he clings to his faith strongly enough that he put up with the actions of the abbot, he seems to have a pragmatic side that might reason that even if Alucard is a vampire working for his own reasons, he's a powerful ally they desperately need. Plus he may be able to reason that keeping someone like Alucard where they can see him is a good move.

Maria is interesting because her mother was a speaker and she's been growing up alongside Richter for years. It's possible Richter told her about what his ancestors got up to, and maybe even about Alucard. Maybe he just thought they were aspirational stories his mother told him as a kid. Then again, its still possible she doesnt entirely know the full story of who Alucard is as a person. Plus after everything she just went through with the vampires and her father's betrayal, she may not be emotionally in a place to trust Alucard right off the bat. Of course, discussing how Maria reacts to Alucard is especially interesting considering game canon. Or rather the vagueness of game canon. I mean, Alucard and Maria are a popular pairing in the Castlevania fandom and not for no reason, but canon itself opts to be vague about the nature of their relationship. I mean, theres no mentions of them getting married, etc. So whether they were romantic, one sided on Marias side, or purely platonic is one of those things thats really kind of an a la carte for fans.

With all that being said, Maria is bound to become close to Alucard in some way assuming the creators of Castlevania Nocturne intend to stay close to canon on this front. But for long time video game fans this is easily one of the most looked forward to developments come season 2.
