It's such a minor detail but I absolutely love the way that the dialogue in the final battle against the Masked Man pauses as it's being written out. It really captures hesitation and uncertainty in Claus's movements as the combined efforts of Lucas and Hinawa finally get through to him; the first aching moments of him snapping out of his mind control and taking back his autonomy in years; the brief hesitation -- almost as though in shock and disbelief -- as the lightning deflects off the Franklin Badge and strikes Claus. It almost feels like the textboxes themselves are their own character or represent the emotional states of both Lucas and the player in that moment. Incredible.

#mother 3 #mother 3 spoilers #← spoiler tagging for a 17 year old game i guess #it's such a small thing to add to the moment especially with everything else going on yet it adds a sense of gravity to the situation #like you only know what's going on exactly because the textboxes tell you what's happening. so when it takes a moment #to say the next part it draws you in and immerses you in the same muddled feelings that lucas is going through #amazing game. 11/10 moment. who says you need hyper realistic graphics to really make you feel involved in the moment #(sorry for getting caught up in minor details 😔 it will happen again)

And even though u feel the smidge of jealousy and sadness of loss #the feeling of pride and platonic love is just so much deeper. That’s the word. Love. I love Then to Jupiter and back. We hugged for like #6mins. Just chatting. Happy for one another. I was trying not to cry happy tears. 😂 #they are moving to provincials in a month!
