Mori isn't a pedo
TW: anime and manga spoilers, mentions of pedophilia, beast spoilers, light novel spoilers, official guidebooks spoilers
WARNING: my purpose isn’t to defend/justify/excuse/support pedophiles or lolicons, i have friends who have been victims of pedophilia and trust me the last thing i would do would be to defend/justify/support/excuse pedophiles and or lolicons.
CHARACTER SHEET
Basically, in his character information sheet, it says that he likes young girls, in JP it would have been young misses (幼女) but anyways, it doesn’t necessarily means something romantic, just like in the guidebook it can be platonic, after all theory, sweet red beans also appear on his likes, which- is a like in general but I believe firmly that it isn’t a romantic like, since Mori actually likes taking care of kids since in beast he literally runs an orphanage, so it makes me believe that it is a platonic type of like.
Tumblr media
GUIDEBOOK
A lot of people didn’t understand this BUT, when he said about his favorite type is little girls below 12, doesn’t necessarily mean a romantic attraction, it’s a favorite type in GENERAL, we know that Mori likes taking care of children (beast) so it could be a favorite type as in platonic, and honestly, I believe it could be a reference to the irl author.
ELISE
Elise isn’t meant to represent Mori’s sexual desires despite the name, Elise is meant to represent his regrets, needs, and wants, nothing sexual here despite the name of the ability, I won’t talk a lot about the regrets because I already have.
In beast, Elise was a 20-year-old, but why? Because Mori didn’t need her as a child anymore, he already was running an orphanage so what he needed more was a helper, someone who could help him to take care of those kids, having another kid instead of a caretaker who could help him wouldn’t work for him.
A lot of people consider Elise a “victim” when she is an ability, she can’t really feel, she does whatever Mori wants her to, same with how she acts, she could be straight up a doll for him.
OMAKE
Omake 12, Mori says that Elise is his wife, however is that really what it should have said?
Tumblr media
Bsd has a LOT of mistranslations, for example with Yosano in the Spanish version it isn’t specified who dragged her into the war, yet the English version says that Mori was the one who dragged her into the war.
In the JP version, it doesn’t say so, in the JP he says tsuma (妻), and while yes, if you put tsuma on the traductor it says wife, is the traductor really reliable? It isn’t. Tsuma goes from “side” and “edge”, indicating someone who is at the side of someone else, tsuma has historically been used for someone/something by the side, it depends on the context of the situation but honestly for this context I believe it makes sense to use the historical version. Mori could have perfectly used Okusan (奥さん) that directly mean wife, again I believe it’s a clear reference to the irl author who give things to interpretation a lot of times.
CONVERSATION WITH KOUYOU
This again, is used a lot for “proving” that Mori is a pedo, but again, this is another of the mistranslations, in the chapter 37 in the EN version he says “I’m touched, but the only girls I protect are aged twelve and under I’m afraid” yet in the ESP version it says “I’m very happy to hear that, but I’m only interested in those under twenty, you know?” In the anime if you put the JP audio and English subtitles it says “I’m grateful, but I deal only with those under twelve” however if you put the English audio it says “I’m quite grateful for that, but I prefer the woman in my life to be under twelve” which- absolutely sounds weird however the JP version and the JP version, from what I understand says “I’m happy but my defense range is under 12 years old” So, the prove that a lot of people use are straight up mistranslation because on every language it is different and it even variates from the manga to the anime.
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 65
Tumblr media
Basically, in this chapter a lot of people think that Mori was a creep towards Yosano because he liked her, and I honestly agree he was creepy, but not because of that, let’s start talking about some panels. I want to talk about this one a bit "先週まで和菓子屋の店番だった妾をアンタが無理やり徴用したんだろ" it’s translated very weirdly since it basically says on the translator as "You must have forcibly conscripted the mistress who was the keeper of the Japanese sweets shop until last week." but knowing the context I translate it to "You forcibly drag me, I was the keeper of the Japanese sweets shop until last week" however the translations are very weird, and even more because the kanji “妾” means concubine or mistress, but anyways, let’s go to the next panel.
The anime did a very bad job with this panel too, in this panel Mori says, “Such a strong will….” While having tears in his eyes and apparently, a nosebleed, however rather than being a nosebleed because of Yosano per se, its because of the strong will she has, the confidence she has. Mori represses his feelings due to being the pm boss and going always by the logical solution, in a lot of times he has been shown with regret on his face, an example being the fight with Fukuzawa, so I believe that the nosebleed is because of admiration while the tears are because of him deep down wanting to have that will. Also, his expression changed when looking at her before having the tears and nosebleed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next panel, basically a lot of people think that mori has an attraction towards Yosano because of this panel, in this panel he says “よ·さ·のくん私の与謝野君がお気に召したかね?” which means “Did you like my Yosano-kun?” which- does sound creepy, and I won’t defend that, but rather; I will explain. Mori wasn’t the only one who acted that way towards Yosano, other soldiers did too, but why would they? Because she was useful, with the soldiers I think that it was rather admiration for such an ability but that doesn’t change that the way they acted is weird. Mori not only admired Yosano due to her strong will, but because of her ability too. She was useful to war, and therefore she should not be attached because they could not only end up having hatred towards her which would cause her mental health to be worse, and or those soldiers could get killed and it would also affect her mental health. Sure, Mori did abuse her however it was never his direct choice to, sure shooting someone in front of her and forcing her to heal them did affect a lot on her mental health, but we also have to understand that going by Mori’s logic it would be better if she was willing to heal them without the necessity of them being at the border of death (it is shown that she COULD heal minor things).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DEAD APPLE AND LOLITA COMPLEX
Tumblr media
This topic is very connected to the next one, so let’s start. In the Dead Apple intro, Mori is shown as someone with a Lolita Complex (ロリータ) and also in the Omake 12, let’s see what Lolita Complex mean; The term Lolita originates from the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, we are not going to talk too much about this right now since it will be talked ahead. The English term refers to a man who finds young girls, mostly fictional sexually attractive, yet the Japanese one is different, it comes from positive idealization and romanticization of girl’s culture. I would also say that even though Asagiri said that Dead Apple is canon, I wouldn’t consider EVERYTHING from Dead Apple as canon due that Asagiri didn’t write it.
Tumblr media
LOLITA AND LOLICON
Tumblr media
To give context, Lolita comes from the book by Vladimir Nabokov, it touches topics about pedophilia, the protagonist being the pedophile towards his stepdaughter that has 12 years in the book and 15 in the movie, the term “Lolita” is used a lot for little girls or teenagers in porn. In Japan, the term Lolicon comes from the book Lolita, Lolicon refers to obsession, liking or attraction towards little girls coming from fiction. Which brings us to question; Can Mori be considered a Lolicon? The answer would actually be no, I used to think that Mori was a Lolicon, but analyzing it he wouldn’t be considered as such. Does he show attraction to Elise? No, taking in account that he isn’t attracted to little girls, and that he didn’t call Elise his “wife” where does the thought of mori being attracted to Elise? It comes mostly from the dark era in the anime version where he is dressing Elise, and honestly the anime did a bad job at this scene. In the light novel, he wasn’t just dressing Elise, in difference he was scolding her for throwing the dresses while running naked, but even if we go with the anime version, there wouldn’t be anything rare since he isn’t blushing or anything else.
Tumblr media
CONVERSATION WITH FUKUZAWA
Omake 12
A lot of people, yet again misunderstand some of his conversations with Fukuzawa and use it as “proof” to say that Mori is a pedo, yet misunderstanding is again big. Firstly, the Omake. I believe that Fukuzawa either answered like that because of a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding because; Mori says that Elise is his tsuma, and since it technically does mean wife, Mori saying “Ah, that’s the response that hurts the most!” could mean that he either said it before or he said that on purpose even though it could be misunderstood. I can understand Fukuzawa’s reaction as a misunderstanding, and the next panel makes me think that even more, Fukuzawa says that he will report Mori, yet he didn’t, which makes me think that Mori told him that Elise was his ability afterwards
Tumblr media
Chapter 30
In the chapter 30, during Fukuzawa and Mori’s fight, Fukuzawa says “相変わらずの幼女趣味か?” towards Mori, and yet again the mistranslation is very big. The word “趣味” usually means hobby, interest, fondness and even sometimes affection, which is very different to say that it is a fetish, in some translations it even says lust which not necessarily means something sexual but most of the times it is used for sexual things, so I do not understand them using those words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ABILITY
First, to start about the ability part, we have to state what it has been said in the anime, manga, and even light novels; Abilities are tied to the soul of the user, it reflects the pure form of the user, but what does this has to do with anything? A lot of people use as an argument of mori being a pedo his ability; Elise being a child and the ability name being Vita Sexualis, which honestly at this point I’m not surprised, but as I’ve said before; The book isn’t an erotica despite it being cataloged as such, the book is about the sexual encounters of the protagonist named Shizuka Kanai which is like a autobiography by the author. He quote on quote suspected that unlike the rest of the human race, he might be indifferent to such sexual desires, so why is it named Vita Sexualis? Again, it is about Life and Sex, yet a erotica has to awaken sexual feelings, but the book HARDLY does that, so I do not think it can be considered as an erotica, it surprises me how so many people assume that just by the name.
Thank you for reading my analysis! The first two topics are inspired by some post of plinko mori, and the lolita complex is inspired by this doc!

I think a lot about the fact that Paru showed the 5 love languages between Riz & Pina in just one chapter...
[Just for context, in 1992, Gary Chapman published a book named "The 5 love languages", where he described five different ways in which people like to show and/or receive affection.]
Words of affirmation:
Riz compliments Pina on his looks, and Pina (in his unique way of speaking) encourages Riz to behave so he can get out of juvie soon. Besides, he reassures him by calling him his friend (something that was important for Riz, as he wanted a bond with a herbivore). And, of course, there are Riz's words of gratitude.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quality time:
Pina visits Riz twice a month, and, apparently, has been doing so for little less than a year. Even if it's not much, he is the only one who makes some special time to just hang out with his friend (even going so far as to skip time with the drama club) despite them only being able to talk and watch stuff on Pina's phone. Something important in this type of language is to be present in the conversation/activity, so Riz remembering what Pina said last time and Pina taking Riz's comment on his long fur seriously shows that they listen and pay attention to each other.
Tumblr media
Physical touch:
Okay, maybe there's not so much physical touch, but hear me out before you dismiss this one: for starters, Riz can't really do much with his hands cuffed (which is kind of the point, duh), but Pina still lets himself rest against him to show he wants Riz to be involved in the current activity (watching Louis be awesome). And, most importantly, the reason why I think this is very meaningful is that Riz hurt Pina once and scared him (a little) twice, yet Pina has no problem with their closeness (and I don't think it's because of the cuffs & the muzzle: Riz is very strong and can easily hurt others without claws or fangs). Pina trusts his friend and accepts him with all his strength (which is something Riz also wanted), and he shows it by letting himself be close without fear.
Tumblr media
Acts of service & Gifts:
Okay, this one wasn't really shown in that chapter BUT, in that Volume, Paru added this omake that showed Pina picking honey for Riz just before his visit.
Tumblr media
It is a gift, but I'd also count it as an act of service since Riz can't go out and buy it (duh), and it is important to reduce his headaches. This is Pina's way of taking care of his friend and making his life a little bit easier, while also showing that he takes into consideration Riz's needs, likes, and feelings before choosing something to gift him.
In conclusion…
Riz mostly shows affection verbally, both through his words but also by listening and paying attention to what Pina says. And he seems to appreciate all other languages Pina uses to show his affection, particularly the quality time they have together, as well as his support.
As for Pina, he also seems to like Riz's words (honestly, he probably likes everyone complimenting him). And as stated before, he shows his affection mostly with quality time, but also complements it with small acts of service and gifts.
Physical touch may not seem so important, but then again, they can't truly express themselves in that way given the situation. However, I'd say it may become important for them in the future: Riz has expressed his desire to be held by someone before, and Pina has been seen cuddling Aoba, so they’re both touchy people.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Continuing with the re-read....
You can feel the changes between the 8 year old hiatus that Chrono took between volumes 5 and volume 7 of PMK (with the release of volume 6 in the middle). He went to hiatus before ever finishing the Aburano Koji incident, and prior to that, it seems like the story is building up for the central conflict of the second part which is the Boshin War. Maybe is me, but at times it felt like Chrono sometimes struggled a bit with the pacing and the exposition between volumes 3 and 4, and that one of the reasons why I suspect he made the incident of Aburano Koji more explosive in the manga than how it was in real life is because the manga was lacking some action, specially for the target audience since it’s a shounen manga.
However, from volume 7 and forward, it seems like Chrono returned more confident and the energy really feels, not only in the improvement of the art style but also the story. PMK always has been dramatic but I feel that the sense of gravitas really got it’s hold after Chrono returned from the hiatus, which makes sense because he started drawing the Boshin War, but also in how he deals with the characters’ emotions, struggles and relationships. The story feels more straight forward as well. He also seems to have taken more care with historical facts as he has written in his omakes - despite taking a big liberty with Sanosuke’s death, but still didn’t changed that he died - and I honestly feel that is after volume 7 and forward that the story of the second half really picked up, in my opinion.
Which is one of the reasons of why I really, really, want the series to have a reboot that covers the full manga. Seeing all those intense moments of the second half animated and recorded would be epic and also heartwrenching, specially in the hands of a good studio and director.

Rules
Migrating to a ~mobile friendly page~
I'm very much a 'you do your thing, I do my thing' type of gal, so, don't stop me from doing my thing and I won't stop you from doing your thing, alright?
Other than that, I don’t ask much, really just the basics.
Mun:  Jessica / Roz / Donut, 27, EST.
Your Responsibilities:
Please softblock (block and then unblock) if you decide to no longer interact with me.
Please do not godmod or metagame.
Please have a rules and about page.  I’m unlikely to follow back if you do not.
Honestly the rest of this page is just more about how I operate than anything.
Multimuse specific rules:
It’s totally fine if you’re only here for one muse!  Just let me know so I don’t try to tetris together interactions you don’t have any interest in.
You’re more than welcome to specify a muse or leave it up to me–I don’t mind.
Promos:
If I’ve reblogged your promo, I’ve already read your rules.  But I’m leaving the choice to follow up to you.
Dash Commentary:
Sometimes I like to just have fun with whatever’s currently happening on the dash, or have two of my characters have conversations with each other.
These interactions are non-canon to threads.  Think of them like omakes, or actors stepping off stage to commentate outside of the story.
You are more than welcome to jump in on any of these interactions!  As long as you acknowledge that it will have no impact on any “serious” interactions.
Ask Memes:
You’re encouraged to send them.
However, you’ll likely only see IC ones from me once we have some sort of established relationship between two characters.
You’re more than welcome to continue any ask you’ve sent.  I literally cannot be assed to move incoming asks to a new post -- but don’t take this to mean I don’t want you to respond.  You’re more than welcome to move it to a new post if you want to respond--or just reblog it, and I’ll move it next time.  XKit Rewritten can now trim asks! So I'll probably just reblog asks and you're welcome to do the same.
Tagging:
Undertale content will be tagged with undertale cw.  Please let me know if there’s any other catch-alls you need. Please note that I generally don't tag generic AUs of Gaster with this tag, as he's basically an OC at that point. If just seeing his name bothers you, I'd recommend blocking his entire tag.
I do tag other triggers with the same pattern, but I tend to reserve it for explicit descriptions rather than passing mentions.
All characters have a specific tag that all of their content will be tagged with--if there’s any particular character you don’t like, you’re welcome to blacklist that tag.
I don’t need anything tagged but I do prefer a nsfw tag, specifically for visual nudity.
Content:
I LOVE crossovers!  If you’re totally enamored with a character (on my side, or yours) we can probably find a way to make it work!  That being said, if I’m unfamiliar with your fandom, I’m going to leave it up to you to figure out how to interact.
I’ll write just about any genre--fluff, horror, romance, dystopian, drama, angst.  Perfectly fine with gore and torture threads.  Super intense stuff will get bonked to Discord or an 18+ sideblog, though.
I don’t generally list content I don’t engage with because I believe it always requires a critical mind on an individual basis, but the line is non-consensual (where consensual is defined as being between two sentient adults) sex.  I don’t mind if your muse has it in their backstory or if it comes up indirectly, but I have no interest in writing my muses explicitly in that situation.
I do not take faceclaims for my muses.  Every icon of a muse is either the actor that canonically portrayed them, the muse as they canonically appear in games / cartoons / etc., or hand drawn to be that muse.  This isn’t an attack on faceclaims!  You’re more than welcome to use them, but it does mean that I will not use a different set of icons if you don’t like the actor, and I will not use animated icons for live actors or live actors for animated icons.  I don’t have issues with mixing styles in a thread but if you’d prefer me to not use icons (for any reason at all, not just the ones outlined above) just let me know.
Interactions:
If I follow you on any of my blogs, consider us mutuals on all of your blogs.  If you have a muse on another blog you’d like to interact with, go for it!  This applies to multimuses, too--if you have a specific character you want to throw at mine, go for it.  I can’t promise it’ll work out but I’ll usually at least try.
I’ll usually give most blogs a chance, regardless of what character, fandom, faceclaim they are–even if I don’t follow back.  It’ll probably be on you to initiate interaction though.
I'm unlikely to follow Pokemon blogs first anymore, but I'd still be happy to interact if you pop in.
That said, I do still reserve the right to not interact with someone.
The more threads we have, the merrier.
I honestly work best once I have a general dynamic to work with, even if it’s as simple as ‘friends’ or ‘don’t like each other.’
Personals are welcome.
You’re more than welcome to like / reblog content or memes.  But check with my partner first!
Drama
I’m not inclined to reblog callouts, but I do take all allegations very seriously and engage with them with a critical mind.
On the rare case that I do reblog a callout, it will be tagged appropriately with an abundance of tags.
You’re more than welcome to inform me of potentially problematic behavior from the people I interact with, but do not expect me to blindly agree with you.
And on that note, even if I do reblog a callout, I never expect you to blindly agree with it. It's just a matter of me thinking its important enough for my mutuals to be aware of. I will never tell you that you can't interact with someone.
Account & General.
If you notice a similarity to lesserlovedlovelies, it’s because AOL nuked the email associated with that account so I just moved here.
I will only send passwords after you follow me.
I'm shy as fuck but actively working to do better. If you see this, just popping in and saying hi makes a world of difference!
I don't, in general, take mains or exclusives. I want to write with everyone, including duplicates. Though admittedly I'm less likely to follow first if you write a or with a duplicate of my muse >//<
If you have 'highly selective' in your rules I likely won't follow you first, but you're still more than welcome to follow or interact.
I think this is good enough for now, but I do have a RULES tag that has other various important information if you’re looking for something specific.

Karushuu Week ‘16 - Cross Dressing
3-A had been divided. The administration had fought against it, but Asano was head strong and Akabane was just as stubborn and they did not want to work together.
Akabane had a ‘secret plan’ to make them earn the most for the school festival (“we’re not selling drugs are we?” “that’s illegal!” “it’s Akabane!” “secret plan? Sounds dodgy…” “Sounds AWESOME! I’m in!”). He was wild and weird, but he was far above the rest of the class, equal only to Asano.
Asano was a leader by nature, a genius by hard work and genetics, and a well proven success story, time and time again (“I’ve heard he had to buy a storage container just to fit all his awards in!” “He’s friends with celebrities! They mention him in tweets!” “Who cares? I heard he flew himself to space over the winter break!” “Is he friends with aliens?!” “Probably - it is Asano, after all!”).
It was a tough choice, yet the class was roughly evenly divided. So the budget was divided between the two teams and preparations were taken out with utmost secrecy. (Okay, maybe a little sabotage and espionage was involved, but that’s neither here nor there.)
The day of the event had the two classes placed at opposite ends of the building. Irina had told Gakushuu that his exotic cafe was boring compared to Karma’s idea. Karasuma much preferred Gakushuu’s - “you get exactly what you expect here. No funny business.”. Gakuhou said nothing, just gave a curt nod as he left (Gakushuu didn’t know what to make of it though he did want to shake the man until he at least said ‘the foods good’, or something generic to at least make him feel better).
Ren tried to sneak off to look but Asano made him get back to work. “It’s too late to stop whatever they’re doing now. We need to work hard and beat them through effort.”
There were no visitors from the other half of the class. Gakushuu had caved towards the end and stuck his head out the door. Of course, he couldn’t see into the classroom, but the other half of the class had a large line waiting to be let in. Asano wasn’t sure if that was poor planning or if they were just that popular. He sulked a little - their line wasn’t as big.
But by the end of the day, they’d made over 200,000 yen. The next closest class was only half of that, A Class had won regardless. Koyama voiced what was on everyone’s mind: “But did we beat Akabane?”
The other half of the class chose that moment to enter their home room. Ren groaned, “I should have visited them!”
Asano was slightly pissed. A maid cafe? Surely Akabane can come up with more than that? So much for his secret plan! While he was irritated that the opposing concept was so basic and cliche, he was slightly worried. Akabane had been hugely confident. Maid cafes weren’t usually enough to win first place. What’s he scheming?
(Asano had been confident in his cafe - around the world in 60 dishes. They’d managed to get three classrooms to themselves, and decorated it with traditional garb and even hire entertainment, such as a popular idol group he was friends with, Indian dancers and more. Tasty, entertaining and educational - an unstoppable trinity. Or so he’d thought.)
Click click click click
“Where’s Akabane?”
Click click click click
The rest of the class realised the demon was absent. Asano thought he understood.
Click click click click
“Don’t tell me…” He had a bad feeling. He wasn’t sure if he was ready for this.
Click click click click
The door burst open again. Akabane appeared, to a mix of laughter and confusion. Asano knew he’d lost. The shit eating grin said it all.
“I thought better of you, Asano. Not even 300,000 yen! I bet dear old dad will have a few words to say about that, hmm?” “How much did you make?” He tried to keep his voice level. Akabane would be at his throat the minute he showed a sign of weakness. “Oh? Well, the exact number doesn’t really matter, but it was a little over 400,000. Not bad, huh?”
Akabane moved closer, and Asano was slightly unnerved. Akabane could act rather well and had probably played his part well today, but seeing his usual demon self dressed up as a maid, complete with thigh highs and a ruffly skirt was just weird.
“We offered pictures to clients. Certain poses cost more, a bigger photo cost more, a cute comment written on the photo cost more. That type of stuff.”
Another boy (thankfully not in a maid outfit, though the boy next to him was decked out in frills too) piped up. “The more photos you bought put you in the chance for winning prizes, donated by our kind sponsors. Also, maids that had lots of people request them became harder to have photos with, obviously, so people wanted to get photos with certain people fast before they got popular or ran out of available photo time.”
Karma took over again. “On top of that, the more popular the maid, the more their photo cost. An excellent business method, don’t you think?” “And how much did your photos cost?” Asano wished he’d kept his mouth shut. “Curious, aren’t we? All photos started at 500 yen. By the end of the day, mine was worth 4,000~ Sad you didn’t get one? It’ll cost you, but we can have one later, if you want? You can even choose the pose! For free! Can’t let you leave today being a complete loser now!”
Their homeroom teacher came to congratulate them, halting any further conversation. They congratulated each other and finished packing up.
“Maids, make sure you put your outfits back in the drama department.” (A few grumbled - “we made these! Why should we have to give them up!”, but rules were rules and the outfits were returned. Except for one, but the teacher gave up on trying to get it back eventually.)
Asano didn’t forget. Akabane did, it seemed, because he forgot to charge him when they took the photos (yes, the plural there is correct - Akabane also seemed to forget he only offered one). But Asano would let the memory failure slide, just this once. After all, they were an excellent second place prize.
(Omake: “You finally got the photo with Akabane then?” “Why is he even keeping that outfit? Weirdo.” “Let’s see then!”
Asano had never run so fast in his life. If anyone sees these, I’m as good as dead!)

Hello captain!
So I know this is an ending so we may take it with a grain of salt, but its between the canon episodes also. But again, its just an ending beach theme(smt never happened on naruto)
But , what are your thoughts about Naruto shippuden ending 10, my answer"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5xxX4swaA4&t=36s
I wonder, what do you think about this things
*Its Sakura centered, and i dont know why cause she is not relevant at all in that arc, which is Hebi/taka how it started and a prelude to pain arc. What is sakura doing here? *Sakura wrote Sasuke name in the sand, I hate this because they make it seem as if THEY WERE actually a couple or if their love was something forbidden, or if she would have any relevance on Hebi begginings¿¿¿¿¿ *But it is seen in the end that she crossed sasuke name. What do you think about this? As if she got over him? *Its funny SS claims SP hates her, and love Hinata meanwhile in even omakes they made Sakura bully Hinata... *And its curious they put this "romantic shit" of Sakura and Sasuke, and for example in Ending 12, Jitensha (its ugly tho) and its hinata centered , thanks god there is no Naruhina scene at all...So, can SS repeat who SP hates the most??
ROFL. Honestly I haven't yet watched every single Ending in Shippuden (Somehow, I never had any interest in watching those). This is the first time, I am watching this one.
What a Lame Ending!!!. Waste of money with no canon relevance. We see Sakura walking 31 steps for 20 whole seconds... And towards the end, she is running for another 23 steps again... Poof... Ending Over🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
Anyways, This Hebi/Taka thing happens in Season 6 which is the longest season with 40 CANON episodes with no dedicated filler episodes. I can tell you... Even Naruto has no relevance to this Season. This whole season was about Sasuke killing Oro, Forming Hebi, (Fake)Madara's revelation as the mastermind behind Akatsuki, Naruto & Team chasing Sasuke (again... This served no purpose), Jiraya Arc, Itachi vs Sasuke, Itachi's truth, Sasuke renames Team Hebi to Team Taka & hunts Killer B.
To be honest, this whole season has Sasuke as the major player... With Itachi & Jiraiya as the sub players... We would see a glimpse of how Itachi's death drives Sasuke in that same season. (Sorry Naruto!!! You are also majorly irrelevant... Other than getting info about Akatsuki, receiving Shisui's eyes from Itachi, a glimpse of the Masked man, you are not needed here.)
No matter what.... Sakura has zero relevance to this biggest and one of the most important foundational Season of this series. The only reason they did this was to instill her position and remind the readers that she is the HEROINE by giving her dedicated endings.
But it is seen in the end that she crossed sasuke name. What do you think about this? As if she got over him?
That crossing out Sasuke's name was done by the Ocean Waves, I guess. It was not her. Even if it was her, She has never shown any indication of moving on from him in the Manga. So, This Little ending scene would not make any difference whatsoever. Probably SP wanted N/aruS@ku, and hence they did this for their own self-satisfaction.
But SP hating SS is not entirely true. They love this couple in Boruto Anime atleast. Which is very evident from the way they change many scenes in Gaiden Arc which mitigate the worst content they got from Canon.
However, SS are proven time and time again that they are quite an ungrateful assholes. No matter how much good things you give them, they'll always send hurls of abuses in return and fight with their favourite NH sistahzzz for no reason. I am sure, they’ll pull this stunt again in the future as well.

Should Hiro Mashima die?
My answer is no.
Though, this isn't about actually killing Hiro Mashima. Kinda got you with the title, though, huh? (This was originally going to be titled “Is Hiro Mashima dead?” and released on his birthday. You’re welcome.)
This post is about a widely debated topic of analysis known as the "death of the author." I've talked about this a few different times in passing in a few posts over the years. You could argue that this belongs in my series rewriting Fairy Tail and I considered placing it there. However, I feel that it's better that I keep this detached from that series. This topic concerns criticism of any series. Naturally, being a Fairy Tail blog, I plan on engaging this with the context of Fairy Tail's author being dead or not, hence the title. Still, this is helpful to think about for analysis of plenty of other series.
Again, though, my answer is still no.
Let's start with the origin of this term. The term comes from an essay by Roland Barthes called "La mort de l'auteur". Use your best guess as to what that translates to. I highly encourage you to read the essay as it's pretty short. It's about six or seven pages, depending on the version. There are three main points to his essay.
Creative works are products of the culture they come from and less original than people expect.
The idea of the author as the sole creator and authority of creative works is fairly modern.
The author's interpretation of a work shouldn't be considered the main or only interpretation of a work.
Of these three points, I'm sure you recognize the last point. But first, I want to talk about the other points. I believe it is important to understand the arguments being made as a whole.
The first point should be fairly uncontroversial. The vast majority of creative works use established language, tropes, and elements to create a new thing. I wouldn't go as far as Barthes does in this regard. Not to mention, this is somewhat weird to know considering his third point. However, I agree that creative works should be considered products of the culture and genre they come from.
The second point is a bit trickier for me. To be clear, the point is true. You only have to look at various cultural mythologies as an example. There isn't a single version of the Greek myths. There are several versions and interpretations of the various stories and myths.
Even recent popular fictional characters have had several different interpretations. This is especially true with comics. There have been multiple different Batman interpretations, Spiderman runs, and X-Men teams that fans love. Fans even love and appreciate numerous forms of established characters like Frankenstein's monster and Sherlock Holmes. So, as a consumer and critic of art, I can understand this.
My problem is as a creator of art. I understand this being contentious when it comes to something like religious myths. But, if I create something, I want to get the credit for it. I want people to love my music or writing. But I also want people to recognize me for my skill in crafting it.
This is true even if you hold to the first point Barthes made.  Even if you believe that no art is truly unique, isn't the skill of synthesizing the various tropes and influences around a person worthy of credit in and of itself?
Then again, I am not without bias in this. Barthes says that the modern interpretation of the author is a product of the Protestant Reformation. As a Protestant myself, I get that my background plays no part in my view of this. Barthes also blames English empiricism and French rationalism, but personal faith is the biggest influence on me that Barthes lists.
That being said, there's also something Barthes completely misses in his essay. In the past, stories were passed down by oral tradition. As the stories were passed down from generation to generation, they slowly evolved and became what they are known today. Scholars today can gather a general consensus of what a story was meant to be and some traditions were more faithful about passing traditions down than others. However, you can't always tell the original author of a mythological story the same way we know who gave us stuff like the Quran or the Bible.
As time passed, stories were written down. With this, it was easy to share single versions of a story and identify its creator. We know who made certain writing of works even before the 1500s. For example, we have the Travels of Marco Polo and Dante's Inferno and know their authors. We could tell the authors of works were before the Protestant Reformation.
By the way, the Reformation happened to coincide with one of the most important inventions in human history: the printing press. Now you can easily make copies of an individual's works and you don't have to rely on word of mouth to share stories.
I can't stress how important an omission this is. The printing press changed the way we interact with media as a whole and might be the most important invention on this side of the wheel. And yet Barthes doesn't even mention as even a potential factor in "the modern concept of the author"? In his essay about understanding written media? That’s like ignoring Jim Crow in your essay about Birth of a Nation bringing back the KKK.
Now, we get to the final point. The author's original intentions of their works are not the main interpretation. This is understood as being the case after they create the series. Once the work is written and sent into the public, they cease to be an authority on it.
It's worth recognizing how this flows from the other two points. Barthes argued that works of fiction are products of their culture and our current understanding of an author is fairly modern. Therefore, the interpretation of the reader is just as valuable as that of the author. As Barthes himself wrote, "the birth of the reader must be at cost of the death of the author."
At best, this means that a reader can come away with an interpretation of a work that isn't the one intended. With Fairy Tail, my mind goes to the final moments of the Grand Magic Games. My view of Gray's line "I've got to smile for her sake" has to do with romantic feelings for Ultear. I don't know of a single person who agrees with this. Mashima certainly hasn't come out and affirmed this as the right view.
It's good to recognize that a work can have more meanings behind it than the ones intended by its creator. Part of the performing process is coming to a personal interpretation of a work. In many cases, two different performances will have different interpretations of the same work, neither of which went through the creator's mind. At the same time, both work and are valid.
That being said, there is an obvious problem with this: readers are idiots. Not all readers are necessarily idiots. But enough of them are idiots. The views of idiots should have as much weight as that of the creator. Full stop. Frankly, I maintain that idiots are the worst possible sources to gauge anything of note. (At the very least, policy decisions.)
I know this as a reader who has not been alone in misunderstanding a work. I know this as an analyst who has had to sift through all kinds of cold takes on Fairy Tail. (Takes that are proven wrong simply by going through it a second time. Or a first.) And I definitely know this as a creator who has to see people butcher my works through nonsensical "interpretations."
At the same time, the argument Barthes made comes with an important caveat. He also argued that works are the products of the culture and surroundings of the author. Barthes isn’t making the argument that author’s arguments don’t matter.
As far as I can tell, Barthes doesn't take this to mean that those influences are worth analyzing. Doing so would be giving life to the author. However, there should be some recognition that a creative work didn't come to exist out of nowhere. There's a sense in which Fairy Tail didn't just wash up on the shore chapter by chapter or episode by episode. It came to be as part of the culture it came from.
Now, you'll never guess what happened. Over the years, the concept of "death of the author" lost its original intent. Nowadays, people usually only care about the third point. "Death of the author" is only brought up to dismiss "word of God" explanations of work, after its release. I'd venture to guess that most people using the term casually don't know anything about its roots. I honestly don't know how Barthes would feel about this.
I can understand what might fuel this view. A writer should do their best to write their intended meanings in a work. It would be wrong of a writer to make up for their poor writing after the fact. I don't love Mashima's "Lucy's dreams" explanation for omakes. I know Harry Potter fans don't love the stuff J.K. Rowling has said over the years.
At the same time, my (admittedly Protestant) understanding of "word of God" and "canon" is that they have the same authority. After all, the canon IS the word of God. It is a small section of what God has said, but it isn't less than that.
Of course, it's worth recognizing that nearly every writer we're talking about isn't even remotely divinely inspired or incapable of contradiction. This understanding should cut two ways. An author should never contradict their work in talking about it. Write what you want and make clear what you want to. On the other hand, writers can't fit everything they want to in a work. I'll get to this soon, but their interpretation should be treated with some value.
By the way, people will do this while throwing out the other arguments made by Barthes in the same essay. People will outright ignore the culture and context that a work comes from in order to justify their views. Creators are worshiped and praised for their works or seen as the sole problem for the bad views on works.
What worries me most about this modern interpretation of "the death of the author" is its use in fan analysis. People seem to outright not care about the author's intent in writing a story. They only care about their own interpretation of the work. Worse still, people will insist that any explanation an author gives is them covering up their mistakes. Naturally, this often leads to negative views of the work in question.
This is just something I'll never fully understand. It's one thing if you don't like something. If you don't get why something happened, shouldn't your first move be to figure out what the author was thinking? Instead, people move to the idea that it makes no sense and the writer's a hack.
If all of this seems too heady, let's try to bring this down to earth. Should Hiro Mashima die so that his readers can be born?
Hiro Mashima is one of many mangakas who were influenced by Akira and Dragon Ball. He considers J.R.R. Tolkien to be one of his favorite writers. Monster Hunter is one of his favorite game series. He's even written a manga series with the world in mind.
It would make sense to look at Fairy Tail purely through this lens. You could see Fairy Tail as a shonen action guild story. Rather than seeing the guild as a hub for its members, Fairy Tail's members treat those within it as family. Rather than focusing on one overarching quest, the story is about how various smaller quests relating to its main characters threaten their guild. Adopting this view wouldn't necessarily be an incorrect way to engage with the series. (Mind you, I haven’t seen this view shared by many people who “kill Mashima”.)
Though, there's more to Fairy Tail than the various tropes that make it up. If you were to divorce Fairy Tail entirely from its creator, you'd miss out on understanding them. There are ways Mashima has written bits of himself into the series. Things that go farther than Rave Master cameos and references.
My favorite example is motion sickness. I often think back to Craftsdwarf mocking motion sickness as a useless quirk Dragon Slayers have. It turns out that its origin comes from his personal life. Apparently, one of his friends gets motion sickness. He decided to write this as part of his world.
This gets to the biggest reason I don't love "death of the author" as a framework for analysis. I believe the biggest question analysts should answer is why. Why did an author make certain decisions? You can't do this kind of thing well if you shut out the author's interpretation of their own work. Maybe that can work for some things, but not everything.
I've had tons of fun going through Fairy Tail and talking about it over the past seven years. More recently, I've been going through the series with the intent to rewrite the series. I've made it clear multiple times in that series that I'm trying to understand and explain Mashima's decisions in the series. I don't always agree with what I find. However, trying to understand what happened in Fairy Tail is very important to me.
It's gotten to the point that I love interacting with Mashima's writing. I talk about EZ on my main blog. I can't tell you how much fun I've been having. I'll see things and go "man, that's so Mashima" or "wow, I didn't expect that from him." HERO'S was one of my favorite things of last year and I regularly revisit it for fun. It's the simplest microcosm of what makes each series which Mashima has made both similar and distinct.
Barthes was on to something with his essay. I think there should be a sense where people should feel that their views of the media they consume are valid. This should be true even if we disagree with the author's views on the series. But I don't know that the solution is to treat the author's word on their own work as irrelevant.
There's a sense where I think we should mesh the understandings of media engagement. We recognize that Mashima wrote Fairy Tail. There are reasons that he wrote the series as we got it and they're worth knowing and understanding. However, our own interpretation of the series doesn't have to be exactly what Mashima intended. We can even disagree with how Mashima did things.
I know fans who do this all the time. They love whatever series they follow, but wish things happened differently. Fans of Your Lie in April will joke about [situation redacted] as well as write stories where it never happens. You love a series, warts and all, but wish for the series to get cosmetic surgery, or take matters into your own hands.
And who knows? It's not as if fans haven't affected an author's writing of a series. Mashima's the perfect example. I've said this a few times before, but Fairy Tail has gone well past its original end at Phantom Lord (or Daphne for the anime fans). Levy rose to importance as fans wanted to see more of her.
Could Mashima have done that if we killed him?
Before the conclusion, I should mention another way “death of the author“ comes up. People will invoke “death of the author“ to encourage people to enjoy works they love made by messed up people. Given everything we’ve said up to this point, that’s obviously not what should be intended by its use. For now, though, I do think that we can admit that we like the works of someone even if we don’t agree with everything they did as a person. (Another rant for another day.)
In Conclusion:
“Death of the Author” is an imperfect concept, but it’s not without its points. I don’t think we should throw out the author’s intent behind a work. However, we should be able to have our disagreements with the author’s views without killing them.

It's 2021 & tbh I'm happy to see you still serving the truth. So many ppl hate Sakura it's rlly sad. I see hate for her from NH & SNS mostly about her "forcing" her feelings on others like she herself didnt realize that & was stuck trying the alleviate that be growing stronger as her main plot point. Her loss of development is 99% SP NH agenda. & honestly I still wish Sasuke got w/ NO ONE, not even Naruto. He wasnt good to anyone, even if he respected them. [1]
& in general I hate the idea that Sasuke HAD to end up w/ someone romantically to try find happiness & that person should have been Naruto/Sakura/etc. bc he COULD had a happy, content, redemption arc w/o a romantic partner. Not everything great in this world is driven by romantic companionship & Sasuke is honestly not cut out for it. I wish he had platonic healing & mending arcs, not this focus on finding the "right one" to bed with.
I will go down in my grave wishing Sasuke could be aromantic/asexual representation in a positive redemption arc of him making amends & fixing bonds w/o needing the "oh so powerful & miraculous" powers of romantic fixation.
__________________________________________________________
Well my parents taught me that a lie has short legs and it won’t last for long. And all you do is deceive yourself with lying so I took that lesson to the very heart through my upbringing and tried to stay as real as I can be.
I’m the type of person who prefers a hard truth over a sweet lie any day. I have ruined relationships with people because of this way of being. Because I met people in my life that preferred to be sweet talked than told the cold truth.
I am not like that, so yeah.
Now, as for the Sakura hate... well, idk but I’ve also noticed a change in fandom support. Yes, she is still hated but the support for her grew over the years. I’m telling you, it’s one of the things I noticed from the very beginning as I came back to the fandom.
But as I said in a thread on Twitter of mine, while I loved seeing that support, there are two factors that sadden me.
1. The love is directed at Sakura Uchiha, not Sakura Haruno and
 2. The fandom as a whole has become a lot similar to the other side of the fandom that used to bully us Sakura fans back in the day.
Of course, I am talking general aspects, I am sure that there are some particularities here and there. But sadly that's the truth. Which made me think about the following things. Are people really liking Sakura Haruno or Sakura Uchiha?
Because it makes me wonder... where was this love back when Sakura was getting her heroine status ripped? Where was it? Are you loving Sakura now just because she's married into the Uchiha clan? Because if so, that's just sad. And shallow. Like ppl used to call her.
And I know it might ruffle some jimmies, but it's the truth. It's an honest and pure observation, after being gone from the fandom for so long. Don't get me wrong, I love that she's loved and supported now, but I can't help but feel that she is because of the wrong reasons.
As for Sasuke, the problem is that the show rewards him with something that Naruto worked for.
We’re never really shown how he is sorry about all the misery he put everyone through.
People say that  ohhh, he was a victim. But wait. So was Naruto. He didn’t turn into that?
Not saying that what he did didn’t have an impact on him, but at the end of the day it boils down to CHOICE. Which Sasuke’s plot even is about. He CHOSE to go to Orochimaru. He CHOSE to kill Itachi. He CHOSE to destroy Konoha. HE CHOSE TO WANT TO KILL THE GOKAGE at the end!
And problem is that the plot doesn’t hold him accountable for that. And I will never shut up about how in other media authors don’t excuse the antagonist for his actions.
See FMA’s Scar. It’s the EXACT same thing. He had his clan murdered. Same thing. Genocide.
But do you see FMA’s plot excusing him for his actions like Naruto does? No, it doesn’t.
And I think that’s the core problem.
Like I always said: I have a love-hate relationship with Sasuke. I love the fact that he challenges the status quo, but I hate how he goes about it and how the story gives him a free pass.
Because it all feels hollow. Not to mention is a dangerous morale to leave behind. Especially to the newer generation of young adults who are shaping their character.
It’s sends a message that if you suffered, you get a free pass to do whatever shit you want cuz at the end of the day you get a free pass without having to work hard to get your atonement.
That’s why I love the fight in Jujutsu Kaisen between Panda and Mechamaru. Mechamaru tries to victimize himself and find excuses for his actions, but Panda tells it like it is.
Just because you have suffered, it doesn’t give you the right to be an ass, basically.
As for Sakura and her development, yeah. Everyone acts like an ostrich and hide their heads in the ground pretending that it wasn’t because of SP’s favoritism and mischaracterization that Sakura wasn’t hated.
Well it was that exact same thing that made people hate her. Like I know at some point back in the day, SP had to excuse themselves that noo, they don’t hate Sakura.
Yeah right... Cuz that’s why they made an omake where she was jealous of Hinata and how Hinata was stealing the heroine status from her.
They were slowly inoculating this idea into the fandom’s perception.
And I remember how I used to tell people about it back in the day. SSers as well.
Guys Sakura is gonna be sidelined because of this. She isn’t gonna be the heroine anymore. But did someone listen? Noo, they didn’t.
Because all they saw was the fact that I was a NaruSaku fan and to hell with me. Out of the fear of NaruSaku might potentially win, they preferred to just shut up.
And then guess what? TL came and they called Hinata the heroine of Naruto’s story.
And I was like lol, I goddamn told you so. But for you it was more important for NaruSaku to lose than Sakura keeping her status, right?
As for who Sasuke should’ve ended-up with? Well that is hard to tell. Ofc, personally due to my preference for symbolism and seeing the power balance, it would’ve been nice to see him paired-up with Karin.
Cuz I feel Karin had what it took to shake him up, cuz she didn’t take his BS. But that’s just me and I would’ve totally been okay with an arc like you proposed.
However, yeah, I don’t see him with Sakura at all , I’m sorry. As much as I would’ve liked to.
Hell, I should’ve been happy as a former SS. Yet I wasn’t.
But I guess this boils down to each person’s principles. And I know where mine lie. :)

Bleach Sword Beasts Arc Recap: Episode 258
I debated whether to recap this episode, because to be honest, it’s pretty meh. I mean, it’s fine. I have no real complaints with it. It’s just kinda... there. However, my completionist attitude toward Renji ephemera won out, so here we go.
The episode opens with Renji and Zabimaru walking out of a senkaimon while some wokka-chikka music plays, so that’s always a strong start. The first thing that happens that a frog hops by and Hebi screams “A FROG!!”
Tumblr media
Uhhhh, I guess they are here to chase down a Sword Beast. It’s clear that Renji and Saru are here for Business, and Hebi just wants to fuck around. He begs to be let off the chain, and they agree, which, as you might guess is a mistake.
You know, just typing this made me realize what is wrong keeps this episode from greatness-- it’s that Renji just sort of puts up with Hebi’s antics with a shrug and some tired dad vibes. How much better would this be if he responded, “Oh SHIT, I love a frog! Er, oh, yeah we got a mission.” If I had written this episode, it would just be one big metaphor for Renji’s ADHD, and that’s probably why no one lets me write anime filler episodes.
LOOK AT THIS SWEET FISH HEBI CAUGHT!!
Tumblr media
Anyway, the Sword Beast convinces Hebi that Saru and Renji are like, the man with the exact vibes of a drug dealer in a 1980′s anti-drug PSA trying to offer a kid some goofballs. “Don’t you want to be your own man?” he intones, a phrase which Hebi goes on to echo approximately 50 times throughout this episode.
I honestly need to emphasize that Saru and Renji are not the least bit oppressive to Hebi. Snakeboy literally lets the villain get away twice in 5 minutes, and Saru is like, “I gotta put you back on the leash” and the Renji tells her to let him go after he runs away.
Now that he is his own man, the first thing Hebi wants to do is the same thing every shinigami wants to do once let loose in the World of the Living, i.e., eat a bunch of kombini riceballs.
Tumblr media
I guess this is supposed to be funny, they’re playing wacky music an’ all, but my mind went immediately to the fact that Renji spent his childhood in food insecurity.
GAAAAAH, I CAN’T STOP MAKING THIS EPISODE INTO A METAPHOR. RENJI HAS SPENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE FORCING HIMSELF INTO AN EARLY ADULTHOOD, PRIORITIZING TRAINING AND LIVING UP TO THE EXPECTATIONS OF A CLASS HE ASPIRES TO THAT GIVES HIM NOTHING IN RETURN. THE HALF OF HIS ZANPAKUTOU REPRESENTING MARTIAL STRENGTH, FEROCITY, AND DISCIPLINE IS AN ADULT AND THE HALF REPRESENTING SELF-FULFILLMENT, JOY, AND WONDER IS A CHILD KEPT UNDER LOCK AND CHAIN.
Ahem. I’m fine. I’m good.
Hebi gets rice-ball-blocked by Ichigo’s sisters, chases some pigeons, tries to score some raw meat, and lovingly watches some people eat ice cream, before meeting up with Karin and Yuzu again. Karin realizes that he must be some sort of spirit, since Yuzu can’t see him (she notes that he “dressses funny” but somehow never registers the tail) Anyway, she gives him a rice-ball and he follows her home after Yuzu offers to feed him.
Tumblr media
It’s time for a moodily lit interlude with Renji and Saru! Renji is completely chill about half his zanpakutou wandering around the Living World, wrecking things, and asks Saru if she’s worried about him. She admits that she’s more concerned about the idea of him acting like a Sword Beast, and Renji replies “Not very honest with your feelings, eh?” What does this mean???
LOOK, CAN YOU IMAGINE THE SORT OF DEEP SHIT THE GOTEI WOULD BE IN IF RENJI STOPPED BEING NICE AND DECIDED TO GO APESHIT? BECAUSE YOU KNOW ALL OF THE OTHER RUKONGAI VICE-CAPTAINS WOULD BE WITH HIM?? BYAKUYA WOULD HAVE TO GO PICK UP HIS OWN BURRITO AT CHIPOTLE!! HE WOULD DIE!!! WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE IF WE ALL THREW OFF THE CHAINS OF CAPITALISM??
Anyway, Ichigo wanders up and is like, “hey man, you’re missing half your zanpakutou” and Renji’s like “no big I’m sure he’ll show up” and Ichigo’s like “maybe you should get on that.”
Back to the Kurosaki Clinic! Karin tells Hebi he should hide if Ichigo or Isshin come home, and Hebi is like “Oh, you live with other people, that’s so lame, I’m my own man” and Karin is like “You can’t even feed yourself, you moron, emotional bonds are cool, get over yourself.” It is an absolutely brutal takedown, and it works immediately. NGL, I found it immensely satisfying.
Oh good, it’s time for an uncomfortable metaphor about Renji and Saru being Hebi’s parents!! Thanks, I hate it!! IS THIS A METAPHOR ABOUT SELF-CARE? DOES RENJI INTENTIONALLY PROVIDE THE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR HIMSELF THAT HE NEVER RECEIVED AS A CHILD?? THIS IS VERY HEALTHY TBH, MAYBE RENJI HAS ACTUALLY BEEN TO THERAPY???
Yuzu gives Hebi Ichigo’s flan. They try to play Nintendo and board games, which proves to be an abject failure, and then end up watching some weird stand-up on tv, which Hebi finds fascinating.  Everyone falls asleep by the time Ichigo gets home, so much for hiding from Ichi-nii.
Tumblr media
Time out to talk about the fact that someone in this scene should recognize each other. Ichigo’s sisters have met Renji at least twice in non-canon (Sealed Soul Frenzy and the Bount Arc) and it’s highly possible they met him off-panel sometime during the Advance Team Arc. Even if Karin thinks Hebi is referring to some other Renji, it is inconceivable to me that Hebi doesn’t know who Ichigo is. This entire arc seems to presume that the zanpakutou have absolutely no awareness of what goes on outside of a shinigami’s inner world, but we’ve seen Zangetsu manifest and talk to Ichigo, like during his fight with Zaraki. Ichigo and Renji trained for bankai together. Zabimaru was THERE . It’s just extremely stupid to me thta Hebi wouldn’t recognize him when he shows up a little later on.
Back to the episode. Ichigo flicks Hebi in the forehead and asks “What are you doing in my house?” Ichigo tells Hebi that he’s a substitute soul reaper and Hebi feels betrayed and runs away. He immediately runs into the Sword Beast who is like “How do you like being your own man?” and Hebi is like, “it sucks actually, a cute girl I just met taught me that” and they fight. Karin shows up, gets knocked out, it’s looking pretty bad, when Renji shows up to save him and shoot him an Extremely Dad Look that is just dripping with “I’m sorry you lost the soccer game today but you did your best! Let’s stop for McDonalds on the way home!”
Tumblr media
Anyway, Saru then heavily implies that they let Hebi wander around like this because they figured the Sword Beast would try to find him again. Wow. WOW. I also want to emphasize that Hebi fought that Sword Beast for a long time and got knocked around pretty hard, wtf were you doing, Renji and Saru?? And also Ichigo, who chased him directly out of the house and then took forever to catch up??
Anyway, Hebi doesn’t seem to care, he’s just happy to be back with his parents master and other half.
Karin wakes up later and is like “Where’s Zabimaru?” and Ichigo’s all like “I definitely do not know anyone by that name” and I wish filler arcs had any continuity at all, because I would love to see this come back to bite them later.
Renji and Zabimaru stand in the sky and stare wistfully at Ichigo’s house for a while (not weird at all, why do you ask??) and Hebi’s like, “yeah, it never would have worked out”, and Renji and Saru respectfully pretend like he had some kind of chance with Karin in the first place and then they all go back to Soul Society, to much more somber music than the wokka chi-wow-wows they entered on.
This episode could have been so much better, but it also could have been so much worse, so I will just take what I can get.
It also had the extremely precious omake where Renji and Zabimaru are Good Pals! ::sob:: why couldn’t the whole episode have just been THIS???

SB69 Comiket 97 limited Illustration book: Ambivalence Black
Hello! I know I’m very late to post this because Comiket 97 happened in December 2019 but since now I have a blog dedicated to SB69, I want to share the limited goods I got my hands on~
Every twice a year(Comiket is a biannual event) SB69 will have a booth at Comiket! Though, because of the COVID-19 situation this 2020, Comiket 98 and 99 was cancelled...
Anyways! SB69 started selling these comiket limited illustration books since Comiket 93. Cyan, Titan, Ailane and Crow were the covers for 93 and it was Rosia and Shu Zo for 94. I didn’t manage to get them tho..TwT
For some reason they didn’t produce any for Comiket 95 and 96 but then...! The limited illustration book is back for Comiket 97, with Darudayu and Aion as the covers! The illustrations are named Ambivalence Black this time~
I actually got a friend (non-SB69er..) to help me get the goods because they were in Japan for Comiket 97 so I can’t say anything about the booth itself...but I’m so thankful for them to help me get these limited goods!!
From the Twitter, I read that the book comes with a bromide (Crow, Cyan, Titan, Shu Zo, Rosia or Darudayu) and a keychain of either Darudayu or Aion. I didn’t really mind who I got for the keychain but I really wanted Titan or Cyan for the bromide. However, apparently everything were like pre-packed according to my friend.
Here’s an image of the goods! I got Darudayu for the bromide and Aion for the keychain~
Tumblr media
Here’s the illustration of Aion for the front cover! Meccha cool...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Darudayu for the back cover! SHE’S SO PRETTY...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, now, the contents! It’s an illustration book so yea, the book contains full illustrations of bromides from the previous SB69 game (not Fes a Live, Shobafes wasn’t even announced yet when Comiket 97 happened lolol). Not all the bromides are included though. But a lot of my favorite bromides were included ehehe. They did try to include bromides from every band from the previous SB69 game though!!
I can’t possibly share every page in the book because that will be like.. a lot. I’ll include some of my favorite bromide illustrations in this post though! Enjoy~
This Cyan LR! I actually got her in the 39 melon LR confirmed pull in the previous game~ Thinking back, this bromide was probably a hint at SB69′s next stage
Tumblr media
Rix and Mix!! Rapezziauto/YKMM was my jam <3 I can literally hear this illustration saying “pyon pyon” ..ah the memories
Tumblr media
AILANE!!! This LR was a really huge contrast to our little queen of darkness
Tumblr media
Peipain’s LR! Never figured out how she could play with all those armor on lol...
Tumblr media
These two cuties !!! TwT Look at Retoree’s sweet sweet smile
Tumblr media
RIKAO <3 Why is he so handsome...
Tumblr media
Daddy Maple was also included~
Tumblr media
I also took some full images to use as my mobile wallpaper. I’ll share them here too~
Here’s Rikao!
Tumblr media
And my favorite bromide of my best boy, Titan TwT
Tumblr media
After all the bromide illustrations, there were some omakes(extras)!
First up is a manga called “Show By Rock!! Detective -Crimson Coloured Stars and Skyscraper Apocalypse-”
The manga features the boys of Shingancrimsonz, Trichronika and ARCAREAFACT. It’s basically about Shingancrimsonz and ARCAREAFACT who are detectives competing/working together to catch the phantom thief who is Shu Zo.
Look at this man, he’s way too sparkly to be a phantom thief
Tumblr media
I’ll translate and post this manga someday but honestly even though the storyline sounds rather cool, the manga is actually a big joke. I especially found the last page extremely funny...
The song does not exist (it will be even funnier if it existed) but in the manga, Titan worked with Crow and they wrote a song and I bring your attention to this line of lyrics: “ お前の身長は177cmオレは165cm Long Distance〜 “
It translates to “Your height is 177cm, I’m 165cm Long Distance~” If you ever paid close attention, 177cm is Titan’s height and 165cm is Crow’s height and you know how Crow is well, rather short. Plus the fact the song also something to do about milk...that’s not the only hilarious part in the manga :”D
Despite the cool ikemen art style, the manga is a joke
Tumblr media
The second omake is a short 3 page manga introducing Mashumairesh!! and their anime! I’ll also be translating and posting it someday~
Howan is so sparkly and adorable...
Tumblr media
And lastly, they also included 2 4-komas of Sanrio Anime Store Howan! This one’s a special one because it’s about Comiket~
I’ll also translate this as part of the Sanrio Anime Store Howan series. This omake is listed under it in my Masterpost!
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading! As this is an event limited goods, I hope to share it with everyone especially international SB69ers.
Also! If you’d like to see the full bromide illustration of a certain bromide from the book, feel free to inbox me here or on SB69en on Instagram. I’ll happily take a picture and send it to you. I know I did say the book does not contain every bromide from the old game but you can try your luck and ask me! I can just say that there are at least bromides of every character from the main bands (Plasmagi, Shingan, Trichronika, Tsurezure, Cricri, BVL, Arcarea, Yokaze). Of course all the other bands are also included but just not every character, once again you can just try your luck at asking me!

Thoughts on the final KNY chapter/series as a whole?
Okay so this might be longer than even I expected. If ypu want to know my opinion super breifly, Its okay, I like a happy ending, but I feel like the “everyone was reincarnated” angle was never gonna sit right with me personally, but I think if that’s not a problem for you, you will absolutely enjoy it.
Now if you want my long form opinion, I’ll start by saying, I get it. I understand Gotouge’s intention was to leave off, after a series that wasn’t afraid to kill off core and supporting characters, on the positive note that all those who gave their lives in the name of making this current world have now been rewarded into it. That no one died in vain and that they’re now at peace.
As well as conveniently putting that into modern day as to parallel the high school omake that Gotouge is fond of doing.
And in just the idea of intent vs execution, it holds up. As we clearly establish in the last arc, there is this idea of reincarnation or being connected through your family lineage. Just like when Tanjirou is inside his ancestor’s memories. Same going with Mitsuri telling Iguro that if they’re reincarnated that hopes they can be married. And since the intent as I said was to leave off on that positive note as well as the fanbase wanting to see that all their faves are all right, this ending is a solid one.
However, if I had to come down on it, its probably because I’ve never been a fan of reincarnation as a part of story when its used in the concept of “these characters are reincarnated they act super similar to their previous incarnation, but its not actually them.” Mainly because I feel like its robbing us of seeing the finality of the characters that we’ve followed as older and more changed individuals (Though in fairness, Aoba and Touko do act different from their original incarnations so there is some merit to experiencing that).
Its likely due to the fact I’m looking at this from the eyes of a westerner, who is more accustomed to the concept of dying and then being at peace in some form of the afterlife. Whereas eastern religion and traditions hold the concept of reincarnation and rebirth after death is more common. And Gotouge being Japanese, I don’t blame them for taking the route they did.
And as I said, if you can accept that form of reincarnation, you’re probably gonna like this finale even more. But in my personal opinion, had I known that Gotouge was gonna pull this, I probably would’ve gone for making 204 the ending, just made it a bit longer to ease some of the ambiguity.
Or if we were gonna time jump, I would’ve rather wanted it to be a point in time where we had an adult cast and this was their kids. See Tanjirou and Zenitsu as dads or Giyuu as an older man. I guess why Gotouge may not have gone that way is simply because bring back dead characters while the survivors are still alive might’ve felt too soon.
But really that’s just some nitpicking as 204 still can satisfy that want to see a conclusion for the living characters and 205 can be the happy epilogue. Which honestly when I treat it like a two parter, its actually I bit better of an ending as it satisfies both ends of the specrum. Wanting finality and wanting to see everyone who died happy and well.
If I had to put a grade on it. probably 8/10.
Now on to what I think of KNY as whole, can you really expect me to say anything else than ITS GOOD!
It uses something that’s usually a staple in western media, in this case the Van Helsing/Blade vampire hunter, and rather than doing that, but japanese, it transplants that staple to make it wholely its own thing. With it set in a time bordering between feudal era and industrial era japan while hunting monsters of the night that fear the sun only instead of vampires, its oni.
The story has strong emotional core with Tanjirou and Nezuko looking to cure the transformation into a demon rather than kill it. The cast is made of memorable and likeable characters like Inosuke, Giyuu, Kanao, etc all which have satisfying character arcs.
Gotouge has a gorgeous art style that blend action and mood very well. I think seeing how Gotouge draws water for the breathing forms for the first time. And speaking of which, it has an easy to understand power system that still allows for tense action that requires our heroes to think rather than it be a game of “I have higher numbers than you”.
And the underlying theme of humanity and living and dying is one that I thought the series handled extremely well. And it never really went longer than it needed to. I’ve said before, I’ll gladly take a series that’s only 200 chapters and overall good than a series that’s 700 chapters and overall bad.
Overall, I can’t wait to see what Gotouge does next and I wish them luck.

What's your favourite mirajane moment ?
I was tempted to just say All of them!!!! and call it a day, but I wanted to actual 89think about this and form a legitimate answer so uhhhh…. Here we go I guess? You probably wanted like a paragraph and a gif but I’m just Like This and I love her so… yeah. Sorry anon.
I couldn’t choose just one, I’m sorry. But I did get a top three, and I figured that that was sufficient. I hope that’s okay! I promise I thought super hard about this.
All moments are taken from the manga, although I will be adding images from the anime. I did not take omakes or filler anime arcs into consideration here, or any of the spin-offs.
Right… Here are some honorary mentions that I wish I could have added:
Mirajane vs Seilah (Poison? A dessert for a demon like me), Mirajane pretending to be Lucy to save her from Phantom, the final scene of Mirajane vs Jenny that wasn’t fanservice and she knocks Jenny the fuck out (I accepted your request, now I need you to accept my power), Mirajane running to Erza on the battlefield even though she knows full well that she cannot protect herself from Phantom Lord, the song she sings for team Natsu’s return from the Tower of Heaven (prime Erzajane content that I STAN), and how she transforms into a snake / members of the guild during the Fantasia arc because she wants to be seen as more than just ‘sexy’.
Now then! Buckle up because I imagine this is gonna be a long ride.
Three: Mirajane vs Azuma
This was so close to being my number two but I’ll explain why it isn’t when I get to what is in the second place.
So naturally any battle with Mira in is of interest to me, but this one had the added bonus of being her AND Lisanna; the first time Lisanna has seen her sister fight since she “died”.
Tumblr media
In many ways, this is the first time that we see Mirajane fight ‘seriously’, (in the battle of fairy tail she still sees Freed as a family member, a comrade; Azuma is nothing to her), and she shows her S-Class powers. It’s a great battle!
But she doesn’t win, and that says so much more about her character than if she had.
Tumblr media
Let’s really dissect this line folks okay. So firstly and most importantly: she’s protecting Lisanna here. The Lisanna that she saw die in front of her a few years earlier. Mirajane swore to protect her, and now she’s got to admit to herself that she can’t doesn’t have it in her to do so. This is not something we see Fairy Tail wizards do often, and even what Gildarts was trying to teach Natsu: admitting defeat does not make you less of a wizard.
This is made even better for me because the person that does defeat Azuma is Erza and I’m Erzajane trash but that’s not especially relevant here.
tl;dr: I love this fight because Mirajane is admitting her flaws even if they play into her greatest fears of losing a family member, or not being strong enough to protect who she loves. It’s a good character building session for her and the fight is generally very good.
Two: Mirajane vs Kamika
Okay so this one was almost swapped with the scene that I just mentioned, but I’m gonna explain why I’ve decided to do it the way that I have.
This fight, in so many ways, is the greatest reveal of Mirajane’s character that we receive in the series. Am I gonna explain why? You bet!
Mostly, it comes down to this single line:
Tumblr media
Please do not for a second forget that Mirajane is an S-Class wizard who gained that title when she was 15 / 16! Mashima said that in a one-on-one fight between Mirajane and Erza, he would expect Mirajane to be the winner, but the thing is she wouldn’t unleash that power on a girlfriend friend. If a member of the guild is present, especially one of her siblings, she does not use even half of her ability.
And I seriously love this fight! Yes, there is so much wasted potential in that Mashima only uses one Satan Soul, but I’ll take any Mirajane that I can get. She spends so much time being the bartender, the cook, the model, people forget to take her seriously for her power, and how much control she has over it. Like there are literal demons living inside of her and she!! Looks like this!!
Tumblr media
Kamika even says that she is gonna expel the demons and the darkness from Mirajane, and she laughs at that.
Tumblr media
Mirajane knows that her magic is evil, that she is essentially a demon, and she uses that strength for good. It must be so exhausting for her, but she does it because she knows how it feels to be seen as a villain (during her childhood), and she doesn’t wanna be that person anymore. Also, knowing that she has so much more potential is as satisfying to me as it is frustrating. I would love to see more of her Satan Souls but I don’t expect Mashima to think that much about anything in this manga so it’s like, whatever you know?
tl;dr: Mirajane is so much more powerful than we can even comprehend and she deserves endless credit and respect for that.
One: Mirajane vs Freed
Okay, so this one is obvious and I know that, but I love it for so many reasons and it was honestly what made me fall in love with her character, so it had to be number one.
This image gives me chills
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see it in her eyes, she’s reliving her trauma, the death of her sister, and Freed knows that Lisanna is dead and died in front of Mirajane. Yet still he threatens the life of Elfman, Mirajane’s only living blood relative. This scene, for me, is like a switch flipped. We see for the first time that Mirajane can go from the sweet barmaid who cries when people criticise her drawings to a literal feral demon with enough magic to shake Magnolia.
But you know? That isn’t why this is my favourite Mirajane moment. The fight is excellent, and finally we understand that she’s an S-Class wizard and deserves that title; she’s an incredible wizard who everyone respects.
However this, this is the true gem of the scene for me:
Tumblr media
Yes, this is one of the most iconic lines from Mirajane, maybe even from Fairy Tail as a series, but the mistake many people make is thinking that she is predicting what will happen to Freed, and that just is not the case. Well, not entirely. The truth? Mirajane is referring to herself.
Think about it like this; she watched her sister die. Her sister who was like 14. And it was their brother who killed her. Mirajane was S-Class, she had the power to protect her family, and yet she was unable. That pain was so strong she literally repressed her magic for years, and Freed cracked that armour until it came flooding back, and she was overwhelmed with it. She literally almost kills Freed, but Lisanna’s smile and voice bring her back from that. Mirajane could have abandoned Elfman for what he did, and yet she would not force him to be alone; she’s too kind.
What I love about Mirajane is her layers. Her skin is made of beauty, her soul chaos, and yet her heart? That’s kind, more than anything else, and it’s her true power. She is able to sit across from the man who killed her sister, cook him dinner, smile and laugh along with him, because her heart is so big, her entire being forgiving and loving. It changes her personality from the angry teen we see as she joins the guild to a strong and sweet young woman, and this is why the fight during the battle of Fairy Tail will always be my favourite Mirajane moment.
tl;dr: This is the first time we see her S-Class power and understand how loving and kind Mirajane is. It opens us up to her trauma and her heart and it is one of the best fights in the series in my opinion.
I hope that somewhat answers your question anon, but the fact still stands that any moment with Mirajane in is one of my favourites. Thanks for the ask, sorry for the essay!

(1) In Kanda's backstory, it is shown that he often sees the illusion from his past memory. The lotus he often sees is also part of those past memories/illusions. He also sees the woman (past!Alma) and his past self's death and they are overlapping with the present scene. On top of seeing them, he's also hearing them as well.
(2) Do you think he still sees/hears them even now? If so, then it must be pretty tough for him when the illusions are overlapping with the things he is seeing at present. Do you think that's the reason he often looks confused?
oooh yeah those illusions!
i think the visions were at their worst anytime he was near Alma tbh. Alma was often the one to trigger said illusions (one that comes in mind is when Alma does his round of hellos to the pools, and Past!Alma appears and says “we wanted children didn’t we”) and i could see that at least the Past!Alma visions stopped with Alma’s “death”, but not the lotus’s.
While I do think they were less frequent however I completely believe Kanda still had them for multiple reasons:
1) First the fact Zhu repeats to him a lot that the flowers are illusions and that we have a flashback to that when Kanda is an adult, far before the Alma’s arc. To me it sounds set post-Incident, of trying to have Kanda get used to it. Why? Because the reactions the scientists had to Kanda’s illusions in their past wasn’t “it’s just illusion”, it was “we need to kill him and restart his reincarnation process again”.
The fact that Kanda remembers his past life was something the scientists considered dangerous. It’s implied that it’s not the first time they had to work through that actually, that they consider that once the ressurected gain their memories back, they become unstable and likely to rebel against them and hurt them. If anything, Kanda’s major crisis and well, Alma’s breaking point were proof enough that it was true. (even if.... We will never know if, if they had told them what happened, prepared them, didn’t infantilize them to the point of also telling them they’re not really humans... Yeah I don’t think they handled it the best even if it’s to be expected the horrors of their past would be coming back).
Every Kanda’s illusions were treated by the scientists locking him up, getting him away from Alma who yet was an emotional anchor for him, considered drugs to numb him, and when Kanda was sure he remembered, planning on killing him.
They realized the horrors they put those kids through toward the end, which is why they let the massacre happen (a bonus specifies that they forbid Fou to interfer, i suspect it was also to dissuade the rest of the Order to carry on their experiements. Irony would have that Bak’s mother died protecting Lenny who ended up being the one in charge of the Third Exorcist Projects...)Zhu, specifically, and the rest of the Chan family seen by Bak, have a lot of regrets with letting all of those happen and have extended those regrets by extra care of Kanda.
So imo, once Kanda was back in the Order under Tiedoll’s protection (so the Order couldn’t touch him anymore), Zhu would have accompagnied Kanda in a path of recovery to try to not be haunted by the visions. Because there’s no wonder those had haunted Kanda (that AND the PTSD of not only having to kill Alma, but to litterally have to tear Alma into pieces over and over to make sure he wouldn’t regenerate. Because yeah. That was a thing. That was the point that made Johnny puke. I mention it bc a translation i’ve read online missed the point. Fun fact the sound effect of that was added in the anime :) )
2) My second major proof of that is the fact that in Kanda’s room, there is a lotus flower in a hourglass- an actual one.
Tumblr media
(it’s an omake from volume 9 btw, but i don’t find a good scan online for the whole thing)
it could be interpreted as a way for Kanda to remember the flower after the illusions ceased, but imo i think it more as an anchor type? Of knowing “this one is real, the others are not” if he’s having an episode? This could work a lot for Kanda to at least try to work through his episodes when he has to.
While i’m at it, said flower is right in front of Kanda’s bed and is the only object it Kanda’s room. So it is pretty important for Kanda to have around. while the emotional value or reminder of his goal cannot be disguarded, I think the fact it’s right in front of his bed is relevent especially after nightmares. After waking up from one and all, having this one anchor to reality.
If we reach too, the Room bonus also emphacize that Kanda doesn’t seem like he will be fixing the windows of his room anytime soon, which makes me wonder if Kanda just... ended up breaking windows by accident. We know he doesn’t train in his room - there’s training grounds around the Order for that and his room barely have space for sword practice. So unless some are due to random anger moment that have nothing to do with his trauma, I could see a harsh reaction after a nightmare or a particularly bad hallucination that left Kanda panicked enough to kick around the place.
3) Another major point toward this theory is the fact that Kanda sees the flowers again in front of Alma yet manages to remains locked into his denial that it couldn’t possibly be Alma. While it could be interpretted by... just major denial, a relapse after allt hoe years (and honestly the amount of flowers seems abnormal regardless) I could see it because Kanda had been used to see those illusions from time to time so he might think “this one is a particularly bad episode and it cannot be because of Alma.” (also we do see more illusions later during Alma’s death which make me think again Alma makes the illusion worse).
4) I also think that the fact Kanda’s Mugen abilities all are based on Illusions showcase that those illusions never truly went away. Kanda has a particular bound with his innocence dating back from that time, and I think there is something to say about how he is weaponizing the very illusions that drove him forward in life, thus i wouldn’t be completely disregarding that the illusions are still there and a fuel for Kanda.
5) Also i’m almost certain we see Lotus Flowers during Zhu’s death, way after Alma’s death, when Kanda get Mugen back. I fanything it goes forward to prove Kanda still see those flowers everywhere.
The flowers are our best physical representation of Kanda’s illusions since those are those we have proof about. But I personally would bet he had others illusions and some could have been worse than others.
I’m tending to think he perhaps stopped the That Person illusions once Alma “died”, because they were too tied to what Alma was doing at all time. at best, they faded away, each time further out of reach, so much further than they used to be. Enough to carry Kanda ahead, but still fainted enough because Alma is not around. Past!Kanda’s death seemed mostly present when Kanda didn’t know he was a man who died before, so I could see eventually those calming down after he realized what happened to him. However I think those illusions could still take him, in front of nightmares or particularly nasty akuma.atmosphere that could bring him back there. (kinda dying to see what Kanda’s reaction to be in the Campbell’s wheatfield will be like since it looks like the place he was killed (and probably is the place where he was killed).
The flowers and sounds, yeah I definitly think he still has them. I think he might have had them a l o t. Which could explain some of his habits to be more quiet and stoic, in case an illusion would interrupt and disturb him. It would explain his confusion sometime, some moments where he knows he’s having an episode but can’t make sense of what’s BEHIND that episode. Which would be a mess to have say in the middle of important conversations or in fights. Tbh that could also explain why Kanda’s patience could run thin in some settings and not in others, if some illusions makes him annoyed enough to be done with the previous conversation. I just hope the episodes are never bad enough when he’s doing an important fight.
And it’s not to count again, everything that comes from Alma and not just the past life. But those would be just supposition, but his time with Alma must have left some scars to him. Even if i think it was just a supperposition to show us it reminded him of Alma, the fact we see baby Alma near Johnny when excited from Kanda’s perspective before Kanda smiles softly loks like Alma still haunts Kanda in some sort of ways, and it would be unlikely to think it’s not the case toward the rest of the series. (mainly, Mattell, any mention of the Exorcists Projects (2nd and 3rd), his whole insistance on how “anything that is human can die” to Skinn as if to push himself to remind himself Alma died human, or having to consider killing companions in arms before they become a harm to the whole facility (I believe Kanda’s distaint of Allen by the Paris arc was a part of that tbh. Of “one day he’ll snap and it will be like Alma all over again”.))
I’m willing to bet that Kanda has all sort of nightmares and triggers, that he has a lot of illusions.
I’m tending to believe that first, around Alma, they get more vivid, more frequent, those are where Kanda sees That Person the most. Memories of his death popping up once in a while. After he killed Alma and left, there is the time Kanda spent with Marie and then Tiedoll that is to take into account and there’s no way Kanda was emotionally stable there, even if i count on the others two to have helped. I think those illusions may have got particularly painful because too interwinded with the PTSD from Alma’s death. Then in the Order he was still adjusting himself when he got into it, and as time went by probably started to develop some coping mechanisms, some anchors, from Zhu’s reminder and the Lotus in his room, in order to deal with the episodes that would be bad.Developping Mugen and its illusions may have been a way to sieze control over those episodes in some way.But mainly, he still has them enough that he can still be in denial in front of Alma when the flowers start to bloom all over him.And he seems to still have them after Alma’s death, so they haven’t stopped. He probably just found more peace with them.
... hope that makes sense? but yeah basically what i think about it dkjhf

Anime I think I remember watching this year
I need to keep better track of this I guess.
Aggressive Retsuko: Great! Very likable characters (even the bastards), just the right amount of millennial cynicism. 9/10 Aggressive Retsuko Christmas Special: It's not about Christmas, it's about instagram. It's great and extremely real (watch the series first though). Digimon Adventure tri 1 & 2: This is actually very boring so far. I planned to jump back in with the english dub, which is honestly how I should have been watching it from the beginning. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to it. Kado The Right Answer: If this show had not been sabotaged from the inside out in the last 2-3 episodes, this would have probably been up there with classics like Bebop. WEST WING: THE ANIME, we would have called it, or something. I haven't watched West Wing, but it's all bureaucracy, right? 8/10 in this universe, 10/10 in the alternate universe where it didn't shit the bed. Angolmois: I got halfway through this before the low budget and my own exhaustion had me drop it. Unfortunate, since anime never adapts the mongol invasion. Planet With: In the running for series of the year, probably. A super robot show where the ultimate moral is that, actually, rehabilitating your enemies is better than killing them. Will rewatch in the future, I'm sure. 10/10. Asobi Asobase: Hina Kino (Hanako)'s is going to go down as a legendary voice actress if I have any say in anything. Which I do, because I'm in charge of the industry now. Which means we're taking out queerphobic jokes, wrap it up people. 8/10, would rank higher without the bad takes. Cells at Work!: Really fun concept, has *implications* of a deeper narrative to be had built into the worldbuilding, but ultimately the whole season is just "oh I bet this irl thing would translate like this in my setting" on repeat. Still, an easy watch. 7/10. Hanebado!: There's a lot that could be good about this. Themes of toxicity in competitive spaces, overwork, abandonment, and trauma. Ending had a lot of people upset because it either miscommunicated how the protagonist moved past her trauma (best case), or just completely dropped the entire arc because...I don't know why. I rated this 9/10 on myanimelist, but it probably deserves lower. I'm still over here wanting to believe I missed something in my interpretation. Hoping for either a second season or a faster manga translation. My Hero Academia S3: This season had some high points but I felt it was considerably less interesting overall than the second season. However, Deku vs Bakugou was genuinely one of the best moments of the series thus far. My Hero Academia The Movie: Pretty standard shonen series movie for the sake of having one. Nothing groundbreaking here. But hey, I got to listen to "You Say Run" in a theater, which was almost worth the price of admission on its own. 6/10. Ushio & Tora: Both seasons, thirty nine episodes. Waste of my time! Maybe this series was just meant to be consumed bit by bit, but I just found it really shallow in the end. 6/10. Chio's School Road: Another *brilliant* comedy that is ultimately brought down by the occasional queerphobic humor. Get it toGETHER, guys! In any case, I care about these stupid children now, and hope for a season two soon. 8/10. Angels of Death: It took about 14 out of the total 16 episodes before I suddenly stopped hate watching it and started laughing at its unwarranted self seriousness and paradoxical writing. Still, kind of frustrated I stuck with it anyway. 4/10. Night is Young, Walk On Girl: Gorgeous movie that has to be seen, but. I wonder if it's Yuasa or the original writer of these books that insists on the resolution to all conflict being "heterosexuality". 9/10. Haibane Renmei: I got four episodes in before the Funi/Crunchy split happened ;__; it's really good tho Dragon Pilot: Definitely gonna rewatch this one one day too. There is a density of theme and execution here that I cannot yet fully unpack and it's just so good. Also the english dub is good, and is how I preferred to watch it. It also has a lesbian and isn't afraid of her, even if her role is very small. It's something. 9/10, maybe 10/10. Mirai: I fucking love Mamoru Hosoda's films. 9/10. Zombieland Saga: I have the sneaking feeling that they wanted a few more HOT PROGRESSIVE TAKES to be fit in before the season ended, but restraints got in the way. We had a sex worker idol who never got her backstory episode, and actually Tae never got hers either. It's still a 9/10 for me, but I'm hoping for at least a followup OVA. And a movie. Granblue Fantasy: I finished the full season, save for the "omake" episode that I assume takes place in the alternate universe where Protagonist Is Girl. This was somewhat throwaway cozy saturday morning nostalgia for the old days of Final Fantasy before that game series became more grounded in contemporary and sci-fi settings. It was also something I watched as a primer for the incoming Platinum and ArcSys games, because I'm not gonna play two gacha games at the same time. Hilariously, the--like--twenty new characters from the gacha that showed up in the last episode were all more interesting than the cast of the full season. 7/10, 10/10 for having a race of hot girls with horns (there are also guys but who cares). Hi Score Girl: This show is a love letter to growing up with arcades in 90s Japan and also struggling with making friends and ohhh my god every time the idiot main boy stops paying attention to important interpersonal plot and just starts infodumping about a game, I tragically see myself. It's very good, the girls are GOOD GIRLS and deserve better and the writing seems fully aware of that.  The series unfortunately ends on a stock romantic plot beat cliffhanger that I have to wait until March to have ultimately resolved in THREE EPISODES. Despite that, it's easily a 9/10. I list a lot of 9/10s but it's been a good couple seasons and there's just...a lot of range there. Number scores are bullshit. Watch anime. Shin Getter Robo: Probably the last show I'll have finished before the year end. It's my second exposure to Getter Robo (my first was reading Getter Robo Go, which actually takes place after this), and it's still good, but oh god. These guys are dumb bastards but there's a note early in that has aged particularly badly in the MeToo era. Not sure if the show got better because I switched audio tracks to English with VAs I have nostalgia for, or because they broke through the bottom of a lake and wound up in alternate history Heian era Japan, stranded for multiple years. With a giant robot. I liked that part. 8/10. Shows I took a break from due to burnout and need to pick back up: Run with the Wind, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, Vento Aureo, SSSS.Gridman, Hinomaruzumou, Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood, As Miss Beelzebub Likes It., Devilman Crybaby, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san. SO MANY!!

Hey so regarding the Uraraka traitor theory, it's not just Deku's angst we have to consider, she earned Bakugou's respect and he cares enough about her to call Izuku out on the assumption that he gave her that dangerous startegy in the Sports Festival. I may be biased but I think Bakugou would take her betrayal pretty badly. Also, how would you interpret the scene where Uraraka talks to Bakugou about his relationship with Deku?
Truthfully, I live on the hope that Uraraka and Bakugou could be set against each other as rivals, because I honestly think that their fight in the sports fest sets an excellent precedence for that kind of opportunity..... But I think for Bakugou to actually par up against the hurt that Deku, Iida, or Tsuyu would feel about her betrayal, then he and Uraraka would need a lot more development in the series.... or at least, I would want to see them develop more!
My ideal however.... would be to have Uraraka try to pin the role of traitor on Bakugou, but I can also see how a plotline like that would be convoluted and not feasible. Perhaps if the story were in my hands, lmao! It goes so much into AU territory though and my hopes for traitor theory going forward is just... so riddled in my own personal preferences so i tend to keep it to myself
I’m not sure how much the omake relates to traitor theory without getting into like... extremely AU territory, but I think it mostly speaks of how observant Uraraka is. It’s the first very blatant look into what really drives the tense relationship between Bakugou and Midoriya on Bakugou’s side of things. She’s clearly got her eyes on Bakugou for some reason.

Hello, I'm very interested in your view on Uta/Yomo friendship, what do you think about their dynamics? I don't ship them but would be down with it in canon. Their intimacy is palpable in the manga, and it was portrayed in such subtle, quiet ways up to the newest chapter, that last panel honestly made me #shook even tho it was to be expected eventually :/
hey!!
i agree! if you look at how their friendship is largely depicted, it’s fairly lowkey and understated. sometimes it doesn’t seem like they’re all that close. heck, yomo even avoids admitting outright that they’re friends. however, there are little pockets in the story, in which they’re honest with each other, and it seems like their friendship is fairly significant to the both of them, and so i feel like their dynamic is still going to embody the whole ‘can’t live with you, can’t live without you’ philosophy.
i think the easier place to start when discussing their friendship is probably yomo, since he talks more about his relationship with uta than uta does about his with yomo, and is also more straightforward in his motivations. in the infamous drunk!yomo omake of volume 12, yomo waxes poetic about his friendship with uta and itori. he admits that he cares about them and that their support means a lot to him, and that he wants to talk to them more so they can better understand one another.
Tumblr media
so, i feel like mutual understanding is something that yomo’s been hoping to get at with uta (and itori), but he doesn’t quite get the chance because 1. so many things are happening, they’re all understandably busy and occupied with other things, and 2. yomo doesn’t feel confident in his ability to communicate with them. i think that definitely factors into his attitude towards uta in the newest chapter. like many other bloggers have said, it’s sort of an inevitable build up of events, given that the three of them have kind of been operating separately since the clowns started taking the offensive, and none of them have (presumably) communicated their aims and ideology. of course he’s not going to understand. he’s going to be going into this fight as the challenger for this reason – he’s the one asking the questions.
certainly, yomo values his friendship with uta; however, i feel like with the events that have unfolded around yomo, he’s extra sensitive to protecting his family first and foremost. for him, the purpose of his life is to protect his remaining family, and the clowns’ plans definitely do not spare touka, ayato, kaneki, and anyone else in goat/anteiku/:re. i feel like yomo’s only turned a more-or-less blind eye to uta and itori’s membership within the clowns because it hasn’t threatened his family until just about now. so, even if he doesn’t necessarily want to fight his friend, i feel like yomo would definitely do it if it meant keeping his family safe.
uta’s relationship with yomo is a little more complex. i think it’s fundamentally rooted in uta’s fear of loneliness, along with boredom. uta has always been in sort of an ‘outsider’ position – he’s either removed from the action, or he’s so powerful that no one else can challenge him (thus making him also alone). he’s constantly trying to balance between the freedom that being at the fringes affords him, and the loneliness that a position too extreme would bring. his friendship with yomo is a rare thing for him – someone who is around as strong as he is, and also someone who is his age whom he could talk to and form connections with.
yomo pretty much becomes uta’s connection to the twentieth ward, which is kind of where most of the action is centered – that’s important to uta’s projected agenda of ‘being involved’. thanks to yomo, uta is able to observe everything from both perspectives; it gives him information and insight that is not available to anyone else in the series, except perhaps itori, who both collects information as an information broker and also visits yomo at anteiku/:re (though not as visibly frequently as uta does. uta does it so frequently that even nico notes it).
though if yomo offers uta both company as a friend and also connections to other ghouls and the flip side of the conflict, why would uta reject that and ally himself fully with the clown cause instead of dancing along the edges? what is in it for him with the clowns?
frankly, i think he does it just because he can.
Tumblr media
in his rooftop conversation with donato in tg:re chapter 116, uta confesses that he’s excited by the idea of unpredictability and pushing someone off an edge. although he’s not technically speaking about yomo in this scene, i feel like it could be applied pretty well to yomo’s situation as well. yomo has been one of the most stable/stagnant characters since the beginning of kaneki’s story. he hasn’t been forced to reevaluate himself or reorient his understanding of something like other characters have been. uta would definitely be interested in pushing yomo just to see what’ll happen. he’s aware that he himself might be injured or killed in the process (re- ‘i myself might vanish’), but he’s willing to gamble just to see what happens, and so he plays along with the clowns.
Tumblr media
i think his exchange here with donato is significant. uta tries to relate donato to himself, and it’s true that their roles in this upcoming chapter are very similar: both uta and donato are the ‘bad’ guys who are fighting ‘good’ people close to them. the fandom expects donato’s fight with amon to lead to amon coming to terms with being a ghoul and release his suppressed emotions regarding being a ghoul and also donato (i mean, if ishida doesn’t do this, then what is the point of this conflict); uta is similarly prodding yomo, and even if their fight does not change yomo significantly (i think it will; but all things considered yomo has really firmly rooted personal purpose and philosophy, and is less emotionally vulnerable to uta than amon is to donato) it will change their relationship and perhaps be a deciding factor in which way the clowns’ war will lean.
yet despite their similar roles, donato states that he is not quite like uta. i think this implies that uta is more affected by his loneliness than maybe one would expect. i don’t think anything uta has done thus far suggests any particular sentimentality (if anyone has shown sentimentality about this friendship, it’s drunk!yomo), but donato may be picking up more than others would (i’m willing to scrap this up to him being a priest and being able to read people much better than most). uta’s sentimentality regarding his loneliness would definitely impact the upcoming fight, and i’m inclined to think that he won’t want it to end his friendship with yomo.
he already expressed that he did not want yomo to die, because yomo is his friend. even though it would be better for the clowns to just let yomo die, he doesn’t think according to what best benefits the clowns; uta’s always thinking about what’s gonna be best for himself. having yomo dead is definitely something that would be pretty detrimental to him. i think he’s more invested in keeping this friendship alive than yomo is, and he’s definitely not loyal enough to the clowns to execute their agenda over his own wishes.
(well, as far as we know. we don’t know if there’s more in it for uta in the clowns than he’s let on. but i don’t feel like uta’s the type of guy to have a particular political agenda or leaning. he seems to just follow whatever is the most fun for him, and if it doesn’t suit him anymore, he’ll just leave without a thought about what’ll happen after. he’s certainly done that before, leaving his position as the leader of the fourth ward. i can’t even begin to imagine how much trouble that power vacuum must have incurred)
however important yomo may be to uta, uta’s definitely not all that torn up about fighting his friend, though. uta treats all of this like a game, and he’s excited to finally play for once. i feel like he’s definitely been bored in the past few arcs in tg:re – he hasn’t found a worthy opponent in hirako, juuzou, or mutsuki. he kind of just toys with them instead of fighting them. but with yomo, uta has the opportunity to finally go all out, and scratch that decade-old itch of his.
it must be so exciting to fight yomo. yomo is the pebble who disturbs uta’s pond of autocracy in the fourth ward; no one before yomo has been able to match uta. so yomo is special to uta, first of all as the first person who could possibly beat him. now this possibility is made all the better with the experience that the two of them have built up in ten years, and also their closeness with one another would make for a dangerous fight. throughout the years, yomo has gotten the opportunity to study all of uta’s moves, ticks, patterns (if he has any), and resolve/attitude; and uta has a similar advantage over yomo. a rematch of their fight from the fourth ward would be the most entertaining, so yeah he’s on board!
Tumblr media
finally, he gets the chance to either push yomo off the edge, or fall from his own perch. either way it may end poorly for him, but he can’t resist the challenge. he’s only been able to resist the challenge with the promise of something better – he would have loved to fight yomo to the death in the fourth ward, but he stops because friendship seemed a far better option for him. but if yomo’s resolved to fight him … he wouldn’t back down from the offer. though, i think uta has a lot more at stake than yomo does, and that’s always sort of been the case with their friendship. uta has a lot more to lose if he loses yomo; yomo has relatively little to lose if he loses uta. so, i don’t think uta will go as far as to kill yomo.
the greatest hardship of their relationship is that uta and yomo’s natures mix together like water and oil. uta’s tendency towards chaos and self-indulgence is definitely at odds with yomo’s preference towards structure and service. but that’s what makes their interactions so interesting – despite the fact that they’re vastly different people, they’re able to find a friend in the other person. despite everything, they help each other out, care about each other, and support each other. differences do not divide people; you may find meaning and significance in the person you least expect to find it in. it’s quite the compelling narrative.
uta and yomo find it difficult to exist around each other without bumping elbows, but at the same time losing the other person would be a significant hit whether they want to admit it or not. although they can’t perhaps understand the feelings, motivations, or logic of the other person, life without them suddenly becomes difficult. ‘i cannot live with you nor without you’; i think that definitely speaks towards uta’s perspective on his relationship with yomo. itori also describes their friendship as ‘undesirable but inseparable’. i couldn’t find a more suitable way to put it. i can’t wait for more development on yomo-uta-itori friendship in the upcoming chapter.
i think this upcoming fight is going to be a way for yomo and uta to at least work towards some kind of understanding. itori may also be involved; or at least i’m hoping that she will (because i love her). although yomo is not great with words, he channels a lot of his emotions and beliefs into his fighting (and communicates that way), as we can see in the two yomo v. arima fights. i’d actually say that the foundation for yomo and uta’s relationship is kind of built upon the ‘conversation’ they’ve been having through their fights in the fourth ward, and this is kind of a continuation of that old, partially resolved (through the power of friendship!) conflict. although i do love the unusual way that uta and yomo’s friendship just works because they’ve looked past their differences and supported each other unconditionally, forcing them to reexamine their differences will definitely be super exciting and i’m looking forward to some new revelations about the fourth ward trio. the return of the old rival dynamic between yomo and uta – with yomo playing the role of a swooping bird of prey and uta a spider ‘defending’ his own space – is definitely something i’ve been not so secretly looking forward to as well.
