Moradan
Tumblr media
Epessë: Moradan
The name Moradan is no father or mother-name that he was given near birth, but rather one he picked up somewhere along the way, perhaps due to him often hiding his elven features under dark hoods when he'd pass through human lands.
He still uses the name, but now rarely hides himself.
Stats:
Around 500 years of age
Birthplace: Felegoth
Race: Silvan
Occupation: Former soldier and messenger
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Looks:
Long, straight black hair, often pulled into a bun or ponytail while traveling
Pale skin, usually not tan, for he tends to keep himself covered
Pale blue-gray eyes
Nearly always wears black or dark clothing, often with a hood pulled up to make his elven features less obvious
If somewhere where people already know him, or where it seems excessively out of place, he may not obscure his face and ears
Takes care to have fine clothing in good repair, and he is nearly always clean and well kempt, save for the dust of the road
Smell:
Varies on the situation, but often woodsmoke and the cinnamon of the spiced drinks he prefers
On a bad day he may smell of stale liquor
Sound:
Fairly average male voice, deep but not overly so
Is boisterous in laughter when amused, but otherwise tends to speak in a quieter tone
General:
Generally acts charming to ladies, and like a sarcastic asshole to everyone else unless he genuinely likes them, or wants something from them
Rarely does he let his guard down enough to have a serious conversation with anyone
Mostly due to his own actions and conduct, he is often alone, and very lonely, which has led him to have a bit of a drinking problem
He thinks that drink and sleeping with elleths (and occasionally human women) will quell the pain he feels, yet it never does
Some deep part of him wants to settle down and find a place in the world, but he's been going from place to place and from person to person so long, that he always finds his habits breaking through
Is charming and good in bed, and likely great if someone wishes for a one night stand, but he always sabotages anything that goes on much longer
Despite he being the one who always sabotages relationships, he is bitter and jealous over people with healthy, loving relationships
He is still trying to find his place in this changing world
History:
Born around 500 years ago in Felegoth, Moradan became one of King Thranduil’s soldiers when he was old enough to do so
The only major battle he saw prior to the War of the Ring was the Battle of Five Armies, though he was kept busy enough with guard duty, fending off spiders, beasts, and the things that strayed from Dol Guldur
He enjoyed drink and revelries in his free time, but grew to loathe the king, his family, and those who sucked up to them, leading him to take a position as a messenger for the army, meaning he could get away from Felegoth for weeks at a time, and sometimes longer
He met Nimardril on one of his journeys to Lothlórien, where she was guarding the border, and found the combination of her fighting prowess and naivete enticing
She was swift to fall in love with him, but once he learned of her age, and her traditional beliefs, he became less sure about bedding her
Having no family that she knew of at the time in Middle-earth, Nimardril also grew to consider him the closest thing she had, and this made him deeply uncomfortable
Still, he let their relationship go on, for it was nice to know an elleth pined after him in another kingdom, and it was easy enough to exchange flowery letters while he was far away
After a time, though, and realizing that she truly did wish to wed him, he stopped answering her letters, and let other messengers take his place when going to the Golden Wood
He justified it since he hadn't slept with her, or definitively said he'd marry her, but not knowing what had happened to him, and thinking the worst, Nimardril spiraled into an abyss of drinking and depression, only made worse when she found out he'd abandoned her
During the War of the Ring, he was called back into active service, and fought alongside his people
After the war, he finally left the army, and began to wander the world, often hiding his elven features, for it made him more easily fit in when visiting human towns and taverns
For a time, he stayed in a village called Glaston, on the border of Breeland, having found other elves and some odd jobs
Later, he found out Nimardril and her previously unknown to her uncle dwelt there too, and their history, combined with his habit of flirting with any lady, even those who were married, led the residents of Glaston to take a rather more dismal view of him, and he left, though he did reconcile with Nimardril
He went to Lothlórien, where the met Gallindhil, and for a time, tried to make a relationship work, if only so he could bed her, but the effort proved exhausting, and he did not like that he felt a flicker of some deeper feelings, so he left, not bothering to formally break things off, at first thinking he'd return, but then deciding it was easier not to
He returned to Glaston, and finding out Nimardril had left, surprising rumors of infidelity in her wake, he felt more inclined to stay, so he now is a frequent visitor there and in Bree, often for weeks at a time, though he still likes to move from place to place
He struggles with addiction of different sorts, and has had a harder time finding companionship, sexual or otherwise in recent years
He keeps telling himself he'll do better, and maybe even try to make a life for himself somewhere, but he has yet to start
Relationships: (Names with a ~ indicate a character played by someone other than myself)
Nimardril: Previous girlfriend from when she was a border guard of Lothlórien. Moradan didn't want a serious relationship, while she did, so he broke things off without telling her, but also without consummating the relationship, which would have led her to belief they were married. He considers her a friend of a sort now, since she's gotten over it, and is one of the few people he feels he can speak to without pretense, but she still isn't overly fond of him, so it's rare that they talk. He avoids her uncle and cousins as much as possible.
~Gallindhil: An attractive elleth of Lothlórien. Though she seemed eager and experienced at first, she'd not get into bed with him, and so he went along with being in a relationship with her, even going so far as to meet her brother, Gallorith. Yet after a while, he thought he might feel something, and so he fled, telling himself it was simply because she'd not slept with him yet. (Which was also true, if not the entire truth) As with Nimardril, he didn't bother telling her he was ending things when he left. (@sewer-princess)
Lindandir: An older ellon Moradan particularly disliked in Felegoth, partially due to his heritage, though Lindandir likely barely recalls Moradan.
The people of Glaston: For a while the folk of Glaston made Moradan feel welcome, and he was surprised to find other elves dwelling in the village. He arrived while the bulk of them were on a perilous journey, however, and to his dismay he found that Nimardril and her uncle also called Glaston home, when the group returned, and he did nothing to endear himself to them. He eventually reconciled with Nimardril, but left for a while, for it felt that most of her friends wished him ill. In time he came back, however, finding her gone and disgraced. Though he doesn't stay there anymore, he often still passes through.

Prompt 176
Danny would like to blame Vlad for this, but it’s actually his own fault. He was the one who insisted on telling his parents about the whole half-ghost thing since everything else was going so well. He was the one who insisted on not waiting, on not using a duplicate and doing it in person.
Which resulted in the situation they both were in now. Injured, destabilizing, and barely able to retreat through the portal. His parents hadn’t taken things well and he would have probably ended up in one of the cages or worse if Vlad hadn’t been skulking around.
If they could make it to the Far Frozen they’d be alright, maybe. At least safe enough to not be in as much shock as he was right now and to properly take in what had happened without having to worry so much about blood loss. Ecto loss? Ugh, he was starting to get dizzy.
Maybe a nap would be fine? Vlad was still able to fly… he thinks. Just a little nap and a moment to figure out what to do. To… something. Why is it so much harder to heal now…?

Literally in the first episode of Fantasy High, I watched an arguement that I had several times with my conservative uncles. It boils down to “According to the main message of your faith, our Divinity accepts everyone who is good of heart and kind - hating people for any reason is antithetical.” Kristen was arguing positive points using her faith as a guide
Which like - im not a christian or religious anymore (raised southern baptists and decided that if God exists he’s cruel) but the immediate writing off of everyone who’s part of a Main Stream Religion as Problematic really pisses me off, ya know?
Like sure, Wolfsong has waterslides and snowball fight and a lot of entertainement during a major holiday and then everyone is trying to figure out how they’re evil ehen they’re just having fun. Hey, my former church (Prestonwood Baptist Church and Benttree Community church in Dallas Texas) i have met so may deeply devout and scripture oriented people who are so incredibly loving and giving that they are leagues above anyone else I know, and for Good Friday they still had a wayer slide cause that shit is fun. Some of the most hateful people I know ALSO use religion as an excuse.
I get that organized Religion can house a lot of hate and evil (im writing my thesis on American Fascism and evangelical faith is a big part) but so many people who are Religious are just good people? Like the basic morals of the Torah+Talmund, the Bible and the Qur’an are really positive? Half the catholic church is socialist?
It just speaks to the religious illiteracy in America. Helio isn’t bad - the racist worshippers who through ‘as above so below’ influence their god ARE bad. Brennan says the Harvestmen are a fringe Minority - newsflash, the KKK is a christian group and the majority of christians reject them and find their message to be a spit in the face to Jesus. Why would it be different in Fantasy High if its supposed to be a commentary? I think Helio chose Kristen because he wanted her to free him from the racist status quo (he was giving her spells for all of freshman year supporting her against Sol up until Spring break if not beyond)

DP x DC: Dan
So I have a lot of thoughts about Dan, and just so we're clear I haven't read the new comic yet so not sure how the new material affects his character
Dan is a character that in DPxDC is see being just casually there... which is wild in context of his character because he was like suuuuper evil. Like i get liking his character and wanting to include him, but it rarely makes sense, sometimes it does, but man we love to do a handwavy "after his redemption arc" thing without actually talking about his redemption arc
So, let's give him a redemption arc, and lets make it get pretty gay
So stages of grief, I'm going to outright misuse it intentionally so don't tell me I'm using it wrong, I am well aware it is about coming to terms with your own death. Let's say in ultimate enemy, he was in the stage of Anger. He was angry. Angry at himself, at the world, at the stupid ghosts that messed up his life, he was angry and he took that out on everyone. Now here he is, his family is alive, his friends are alive, and he still is angry, but at himself. He can't go back to them, he's literally a whole other person than the Danny they know
So self destructive spiral. He's hard partying, hard drinking, waking up in a random gutter in Gotham, and doing it all again. He might also be dabbling in other illicit substances. The point is, if he wasn't already dead his behavior would lead to a quick grave
So we have this miserable, sad sack of a man who has done terrible things regularly abusing alcohol(and maybe more)
Now there's another character that had a similar issue. One Red Arrow turned Arsenal and his heroin addiction...
So who better to find Dan than the same man that got Roy sober and sponsored him?
That's right, Waylon Jones aka Killer Croc
To large, beefy, grumpy men with goodness hidden inside them bonding, maybe falling in love? all while Waylon helps Dan work through his emotional baggage and get clean
it has everything:
angst, emotions, bonding, gay, and potentially a happy ending for two former villains

I can respect the hater mentality
#kirby#kots#kirby of the stars#hoshi no kirby#kirby meme#it's honestly hilarious that half the cast of star allies are just people that tried to kill us and most of them aren't even sorry#Taranza at the time was the only redeemed villain in the cast#like yeah magolor went through redemption but we didn't know that he just built a theme park and hoped everything was fine#marx is just not hungry and his text just hints at him still being up to no good#susie is still racist and im not even sure she learn something from her experience#apart from trauma#daroach is here to steal stuff#im still not sure what dark meta knight wanted but nothing good I'm sure#i may be giving Taranza too much credit because he's my favorite he did have ulterior motives#but at most he just wanted to pray for Sectonia's revival he wasn't gonna do anything bad#he is going through stuff of course he's vulnerable to be converted by a cult#he's even like 'probably won't work and it working would honestly be a bad thing but im going to try anyway'#do you think Taranza gets lonely up there#Galacta dying the second we receive the first bit of solid lore about them was straight up evil#and then kumazaki confirmed they killed them because it was funny i was enraged /pos#i know people were tired of Galacta Knight at that point#i mean i wasn't bur i kind of understand why some people may have been#even they were tired they kiled themselves before having to fight us again#do you ever think about how none of the Galacta Knight encounters are canon to the kirby cast but are canon to Galacta#and then their death isn't canon so oops here they come in Kirby clash#retire that is old guy#but actually don't i like them and i want them to appear until they drop dead (again)#the post was meant to be about Galacta never forgiving the ancients but honestly they're probably angry just in general

No but seriously I truly think Alastor was genuinely caring for the hazbin hotel group pre the battle, the personal talk with Charlie? There’s no way he would have had that conversation with say, husk, or Rosie, maybe Mimzy because the way she talked about him inferred that they were/are really close despite the way she runs to him for protection. Hell’s greatest dad was definitely a tactic and a jab at Lucifer, why I’m not sure. Probably because he wants to be the ruler (once again why? Why would a mortal soul want that? We know Alastor is ambitious but I can’t see him wanting to be bothered to deal with overlords and seven deadly sins and angels. The only plausible reason I can think of is so it would get him out of his deal but then again that seems like an insane trade off for your freedom which he mostly seems to have.) but every interaction he had with Charlie & Rosie & Mimzy seemed so genuine.
Watching him so obviously be alastor (wanting to guide Charlie and probably not in a good way) and speaking fondly of the group with nifty and calling them his friends during such a vulnerable moment where no one could possibly see and him speaking openly about such a secret, such as him being shackled to a deal and nearly losing his life for them (which I think was partially of his own free will with wanting to challenge Adam and we seen how that went, but him being at the hotel 100% wasn’t out of his free will AT FIRST imo) is such an interesting conflict in Alastor and the best part is that you can believe it or not believe it.
Characters who keep you guessing like this are always just so fucking fun, I can’t wait to see more of him if they keep this direction of Alastor having moments where he cares for them and then snaps back to the Alastor who wants nothing more than power.

I really hope that Aaravos gets free and starts the Apocalypse in season 6 although it would be hilarious if all of Aaravos' planning and manipulation only leads to him being free for like four episodes in season 7 till he gets defeated.

People who say that Beauty and the Beast (1991) endorses Stockholm Syndrome and domestic abuse have very grossly missed the entire point of the story.
#disney#beauty and the beast#meta#disney meta#txt#belle was never abused once by the beast in the movie. he was really just a jerk#y'all do realize that there are people who are jerks that aren't necessarily abusive#now they might have a higher inclination for it but no beast never abused her#the scene where he lost his temper was supposed to show how much beastly nature was having a hold on him and he immediately showed regret#afterwards. as soon as belle called him out on his bad temper he never tried any other shit ever again#y'all really think that if he was abusive he would have redeemed himself THAT quickly?#again he did act like an ass but he was not an abuser. i don't think he woulda even been able to stomach doing something to her#unintentionally or not#the entire point of the story is that despite him literally being a beast belle was able to see “beauty” in him#she was able to look past that and see that he was actually a good person but that he just needed to improve himself#see belle wasn't a “i can fix him” type. she was the inspiration for him to become a better individual#being with her made him feel things he probably never felt before. he felt loved wanted desired#that is what he needed but had stayed away from because of his own insecurities#which is also why this discussion about whether he was hot in his human form or not is irrelevant in the end#belle loved him for who he was and she probably thought he was the most beautiful man in the whole world both visually and spiritually#also beast respected and loved belle. gaston only lusted her and saw her as a pontential trophy wife to boost his social status#you see gaston and beast are actually quite similar in the beginning#but the thing is that beast has virtues that gaston lacks#beast also wanted belle just to break a spell although he did try to show her humanity to show that there was an emotional complex human#being but he did genuinely fall in love with her and let her go. he sacrificed himself and his servants because he truly loved her#gaston would have never done that before he was already too far gone in his fixation with being the BEST#anyways#i have gone long enough about this but you get my point

Thinking about the parallels between Ludinus and Asmodeus.
One is devoted to taking out the gods because of the destruction they did to his home (among other reasons too). The other devoted to punishing all mortals and those who side with them because of the divide he believes they caused in his family.
These two powerful people filled with so much hate. Ludinus devoted his entire life to this goal. His hatred for the gods never diminished. Asmodeus admitted that he would still be unsatisfied even if he got to punish all who wronged him (in his eyes) because it could never be enough. The way they both can hold back their rage and true feelings and then drop on a dime.
The parallels in their conviction. They truly believe that they are right in their beliefs. Never once wavered. Scoffs at the idea of it. Asmodeus was so fucking offended at Zerxus’s attempt at redemption. I get the sense that Ludinus probably has talked to people who understood but asked him why not let go? Why not move on? Live life. Take that second chance that a whole bunch of Aeorians did not get. And he remains convicted and steadfast. Much like how Asmodeus clearly wouldn’t have thought about changing his ways.
Funnily both of them are lawful evil too. And in that, there’s the way they both rarely lie (at least in EXU Calamity for Asmo) Manipulate? Yes. But lie? It’s interesting in how Ludinus has been willing to tell the PCs his plans. He’s not a wholly honest person, but he hasn’t exactly said anything he doesn’t mean yet. He outright tells Imogen and Fearne his whole deal. He’s most certainly not lying about the 1000 years thing. He seems to genuinely believe what he’s selling.
Of course there’s the rhyming lines of “You/We are not our/their children”. Matt knew what he was doing when he chose that line. It’s meant to get us to remember Asmodeus and EXU Calamity. But in it, there is this reoccurring question of the relationship between mortals and the gods. And how muddy the water has become or was in the first place. If a mortal can become a god, if a mortal can kill a god, if someone can become a god through the faith of one child? What are the boundaries between mortals and gods?
It’s kind of funny how the god hating mortal and the mortal hating god have quite a bit in common.

anyways, besides gege akutami poorly killing off every other character in unfulfilling ways (and imo this being a fine time to subvert expectations on who we think is covered in death flags thru a flashback), it does feel kind of lame that our guy whose whole arc was abt being against punishing others and empathizing with others despite the system he operated in heavily discouraging those things essentially carrying his suicidal mentality in the panel through, but framed positively bc he became a tool to help further yuji's goal against sukuna doesnt feel good.
i understand what gege akutami was trying to do, but i dont like it and i think it sucks. i dont think its good for his character arc, and frankly with gege akutami's record of having main characters seemingly deal an important blow, only to be casually swept aside or fall flat in the literal next chapter, regardless of the characters, this doesnt feel very hopeful? (not to mention i don't think he should've repeated nanami's death lol) akutami also has a habit of just not really mentioning killed characters again in a meaningful way and this could absolutely happen after the chapter. it just feels bad to me, i dont think most of the character deaths are done well, even if you want to insist jjk is a tragedy or whatever, i dont think things get across well.

I've probably said this before but. What Akihiro unconsciously looks for in relationships (both romantic and platonic) is stability, someone who he can pretend to be someone else, a better person with and have the kind of relationship that is genuinely good for him. And I say unconscious because not only does he not realize he's doing this but he probably gets mad when he realizes he does it, because he goes out of his way to project a certain image about himself and has self destructive tendencies because at first he genuinely did not care about Healing, about changing and becoming a better person. And when he invites people into his life like Laura, Johnny and Gabby they try to get him to change because those behaviors are hurtful to them, and he just can't have that. He and Johnny wouldn't have worked out at the time in his life where they met because he was not in the right place to change himself, so he destroyed what they had while destroying everything he had in his life because he was dying and saw no point anymore. But with Laura and Gabby he actually let them in and let them change him, because he was in a better place in his life (and also who can say no to two little sisters with autism creature eyes). And to me this is why I can see him with people like Johnny, Bobby and Carl romantically and not with people like Bullseye because they will ultimately cause more destruction to his life and he may seek that out, as a form of self harm but he could never fall in love with that. He needs someone who will inspire him to change, and he's had far too many toxic, unhealthy relationships in his life.

I saw such a bad take on Jiang Cheng's character and I can't stop thinking about how terrible it is. "Jiang Cheng did nothing wrong....couldn't have handled things better because of his situation..."...something something. Why is it so hard for people to accept what's written in canon. MXTX wanted JC to be seen as an antagonist, she wanted him to be a terrible person it's so obvious from all the parallels between him and WWX's characters... A huge excuse when they try to paint him as a "sad, misunderstood uwu boy" is that he went through a lot and thought it was all wwx's fault. But so did Jiang Yanli, and she didn't have any of the reactions that Jiang Cheng did. SHE was the one who lost her husband, SHE also lost her parents the same way he did? I also reread some scenes recently...and his homophobia is so apparent especially in the scene where lwj and wwx visit his parents' shrine. ALSO, his excuse for thinking their dating is that he saw them hug under that tree??? AND HE FOLLOWED THEM TO SEE WHAT THEY'D DO AFTERWARDS😭😭😭
I'm just confused about what excuse they have that makes it so easy to overlook all the shitty things about him💀 (oh, they also seem to hate...wangxian? Like actively believe those two are annoying and that they're bad people. Which is kind of sad, since they're the main pairing of a...ROMANCE NOVEL. So I feel pretty bad for them for having to read a whole book about two characters they don't like) Just wanted to know your thoughts. JC is irredeemable in my eyes. He's not a bad guy but he is a very bad person. But maybe other people see something I don't😂
Somehow I missed this ask, but I found it right on time (after seeing some stan bullshit 🙄) . My thoughts on Jiang Cheng is that the book is very clear that he is a terrible leader, a terrible uncle, and a terrible brother (both martial and bio) who chose the path of his toxic, violent mother to pursue over his kind father. Anyone saying otherwise is not worth engaging.
People don’t see something you don’t about his character, anon; people are choosing to unsee the things in canon because they’ve imprinted on a character that only exists in fan art, fanfic, and “incorrect quotes” memes. The disconnect isn’t a misunderstanding of the story but people uninvested in the original story wanting to impose their own uninspired fandom tropes onto an already cohesive story, and I simply do not have the energy to deal with that level of denial anymore with this fandom.
