not a fan of the "jonah magnus is a homophobic gay man" thing. like i get that people feel the need to ideologically seperate villains from themselves because they're uncomfortable with the idea of characters they dislike agreeing with them on anything. but like. i think the joke was funny like the first two times i heard it at the very most. and now it's just. stale. unoriginal. unfunny. i might be biased tho cuz i have my own oddly specific interpretation of him as an objectum otherkin and i think several aspects of his story support this interpretation and also i think that [i am forcibly removed off the stage]

the secret sauce of jonah magnus is refusing to become a victim in a world where that is fundamentally impossible so you damn your whole species to the slaughterhouse for the privilege of being its administrator hope this helps <3

I like to think that Elias is boring on purpose. he spends his time and effort when he should be working on boring his employees instead. he's perfected it to an art. every day, he visits each department and tries to find the time to talk about spreadsheets whenever there's the most people in one room at a time. then he tallies up how many of them visibly and/or audibly react with some form of disgust, and compares it with other days. he'd have realised how sad that really is if he hadn't been found out, but at least now he gets to be as deranged as humanly possible. you go, Elias. I love you you stinky rat whore, can't wait for you to show up in the new protocol episode <3

TMA Headcanons (Mostly Old Guys (sorry) and Jon & Martin):
- Jonah was taught piano, as any good upper-class victorian man was. And with the power of the Beholding he’s become the perfect sight reader (heh). I imagine his singing voice sounds something like Tom Lehrer, similar dark comedy subject matter too.
- Jonah heard about Lord Byron’s escapades and said “fuck him, I can do it better” and then consequently had to be bailed out of debt by Mordechai Lukas a handful of times, purposefully wrote nonsense books along with his actually accurate accounts of the Occult, and had several affairs with established Avatars.
- Jonah can see through pretty much any vaguely eye-shaped object. This includes the eyes of statues, on graffiti, certain knots in trees, sketches in notebooks or diagrams/textbook visuals, and of course the plenty of signage (Neighborhood Watch, Security, Eyewash stations, seriously why tf are eyes everywhere).
- Simon is routinely hired for the Head of the Institute painted portraits, as Jonah finds it a nice tradition. He’s good at capturing Jonah’s deeply…complex eyes.
- Simon has a deep hatred for The Buried, for obvious reasons. But he also can’t stand being around an instance of it too long before feeling sick. This means all of his previous bodies have either had a burial at sea or (once) shot off into space, no coffin.
- Peter was nearly marked by the Vast as a child because of his preoccupation with the ocean. His fear and yet great interest in its depths couldn’t beat the rigorous training of the The Lonely.
- One of Peter’s more childish ritual ideas was to fabricate a new edition of “Eleanor Rigby” to send into circulation and radioplay. He thinks he could have made it work if he had captured an adequate violinist to mark, but they only ever crumbled under the sadness of their own tune and became lost.
- Once Martin was marked by The Lonely, both Jon and Martin became almost like puppets for Elias and Peter to fuck with each other. “My child is better than your child” type stuff.
- Jon likes moths, especially the ones with eyespots. Martin is afraid of them for the same reason.

So the first time I saw this picture:
Tumblr media
I was like, "ah yes Elias Bouchard how are you, ya bastard?"
But then I realized this was from a movie.
Specifically Wonka.
And then I watched it and omfg who took the soul of Jonah Magnus and put him in this silly little gay man.

‼️ spoilers for tmagp 12 ‼️
okok gruesome episode, i have some theories
I think that the OIAR using an extremely outdated system to record and classify strange occurrences is similar to the reason Jon and Gertrude used tape recorders. maybe the horrors in the tmagp universe cause interferences in modern technology
alternatively: Lena knows about Jon, Martin, and Jonah being present as entities in the OIAR systems. maybe they provide some sort of protection over it? what with Jon and Jonah being avatars of the Eye, maybe they're just fulfilling exactly what they did in tma.
also, if the case loads that the protocol gang get include instances of the OIAR using its.. “externals”, then how many of the statements we've seen were caused directly by them? we know Mr Bonzo is an external. and it's seeming more and more likely that Ink5oul and Needles are externals too

I know he’s kind of a polarizing character, but I have to say, Elias Bouchard truly is Iconic. When you hear the twist of “the boring middle manager was actually secretly an evil eldritch monster the whole time!” you sort of assume that the boring middle manager persona was just a facade, but no, he really does seem to just enjoy dull administrative work. He’s both exactly as boring as he seems on the surface and profoundly fucked up in ways you couldn’t imagine. He’s practically omniscient and playing 4-D chess with everyone, but he responds to even slight hiccups in his elaborate scheme with acts of extreme violence. He beats an old man to death with a metal pipe and when someone brings it up later he goes, “Yeah I may have overreacted there.” His employees are constantly trying to murder him. He broke out of prison just so he could give a dramatic monologue. He had a weird gay thing going on with seemingly every man he met in the past 200 years. He loves scheduling.

So normal about Jon being like I don’t remember what you looked like but the man who let you die is going to suffer for what he did to you. If only Sasha coulda seen that.
So normal about Jon being like you died hating me and wanting me dead but I’m still gonna make sure this man knows I’m ending him in your name. Sure wish Tim coulda seen that.
So normal about the fact that everyone believed Jon was losing his humanity but no one got to see the ways his love and compassion for the people he lost or who hurt him drove him to that final moment.
So normal about the fact that even after everything Jonah’s done to Jon, the only person he never thinks to get justice for is himself.
