I will say it once and I will say it again, I love issue #87-90 of Sonic Universe for the sheer fact that we get so much FOOD. Like, we get some Knuckles and Amy goodness...we get Knuckles and Shadow moments of bonding...we get to see Knuckles and Amy interact and play off Team Dark so well, especially Knuckles...the fact he seems to be so chill with Omega...Rouge being concerned about Knuckles's solitude and 'freedom' as well as her and Amy interacting... There's a reason I have it be canon here UwU

The first island
Can I just say- this is some frontiers spoilers my dudes
the entire interaction between Sonic and Amy on the first island is really cute and solemn. They really do feel like long time friends with light jabs and soft comforts sprinkled throughout their dialogue. I did switch the voice-over to Japanese so it might be influencing my perception of their interactions, but it was great to see Sonic and Amy interact in a way that felt more three-dimensional than the usual one-sided crush annoyance thing. They illustrated Amy as someone who believes in the power of love but not exclusively her own, as a power that can tie fates together even beyond apparent demise. We got to see Sonic trust in her strength and intuition and act as a support for Amy’s convictions- even when it felt like, to him, it was getting in the way of his real goal - saving his friends. And after voicing his annoyance we got to see Amy challenge him and a compromise was reached. They really did seem like a pair of individuals, like Amy wasn’t just there as a goal for Sonic to progress. The only downside is her run cycle at the end of the first island- hate it-never want to see it again lol More characterization stuff under the cut:
This was a bit of an idea the games like to dance around and lightly touch on in terms of Sonic’s characterization, but he’s really thoughtful and cares about his friends... almost to the detriment of others he doesnt particular know or care about. He’s a quick thinker and boasts quips and jabs, having retorts fired up and ready to go with very little delay between others’ sentences. But yet, he does slow down and ask if his friends are all right, how they’re feeling, and if they are still thinking about that terrible thing that happened. It is very cool to see him take the time to help Amy and just talk to her and see how everything’s going. Interactions between Sage and Sonic are very interesting because we have a dead wall, a closed book, unwilling to give any extra information to the “enemy combatant” and a poking and prodding hero trying to get them to talk. Sage delivers information very matter-of-factually and is met with joking responses and boasts that they find foolish. Sonic will then ask a question and Sage will deny any help, leaving Sonic with a bit of a “fine whatever” response. It isnt until one of the last Sage interactions on Kronos where Sonic switches tactics and asks them quite politely (or as politely as sarcasm can go) what their name is. He doesnt get a good answer and grumbles in annoyance (in the Japanese dub) but quietly says to himself that he doesnt get a negative feeling from them. When faced with another titan and effectively proving Sage wrong in the coolest most over the top way possible, he still retorts to her threats with jokey sarcasm- in line with his usual display and not gaining any animosity in his voice. It seems Sonic is more interested in getting answers to the mystery than beating Sage, he even seems to be contemplating whether or not Sage is the “bad guy”. He isn’t jumping to conclusions and it’s a nice break from the act first ask questions later attitude we saw in Lost World. Sorry to mention Adventure like everyone else, but it’s nice to have another example of Sonic trying to understand his opponents’ purpose and reasons more than them just being another thing in his way. Perhaps even the fact that you can just find Sage on the map standing there and Sonic chooses to talk to them first says a lot as well. I’ve only just made it to the second island, Ares, and Sonic’s interaction with Knuckles is top notch.

Sonic Cyber Revolution Analyzer: The Ultimate Life Form Arc (Part 3)
Tumblr media
After being awakened by Ferra and Metal Sonic, Shadow decides to take revenge on those who wronged him and his only friend, Touka, by destroying Neos City, unaware that Touka has lost her memories. Lucas, Sonic and their friends try to stop him, but unknown to either sides, it appears that there is someone else pulling the strings.

Entry 9: Live and Learn
Sonic stepped up, locking eyes with Shadow. So far, he and his friends had spent the entire day chasing the black hedgehog around, rushing from one place to another, and when they finally managed to confront him, it turned out that they were actually on a time limit and that no one is supposed to survive this ordeal. He tried to talk to Shadow and while he was thankful that he now understood his motives, this still didn't mean that he wasn't going to stop the latter from destroying everything he cared about.
''This battle has just begun,'' Shadow said, his voice calm, yet hollow. Sonic knew that usually, those who had nothing left to fight were also the ones who were the most dangerous. He turned to his partner.
''Lucas, leave Shadow to me,'' he said, with Lucas nodding. Sonic then charged at Shadow, with the latter dodging his attack and engaging in combat with the blue hedgehog. Lucas then turned to the rest of the team, quickly taking over, having already formed a plan.
''Knuckles and Silver, you two support Sonic,'' he said, with the grey hedgehog and red echidna nodding and joining the fight. ''Everyone else is coming with me. This way!''
The final battle has begun, with Sonic deciding to take on Shadow. Thinking quick, Lucas takes the lead and tells Knuckles and Silver to support Sonic while everyone else should follow him. When asked by Tails why he and Amy didn’t stay to fight Shadow, Lucas reveals that Shadow plans to essentially nuke Neos City and that they need someone to try and stop the countdown; that being Tails and Warren. As for the rest of the group (Lucas, Lily, Minami and Makoto), they will together try to find Touka, with Amy smashing in the doors with her hammer in case she got locked up.
Unknown to either of them, Ferra and Metal Sonic walked out of a narrow side-corridor, waiting until everyone was gone. Ferra's expression was that of pure horror, shaking as she as the consequences of her actions hit her like a truck. She and Metal had been observing Lucas, Sonic and Shadow from afar, followed by overhearing their conversation and taking note of Shadow's plans. What she had overheard shook her to her core.
How was I supposed to know that releasing Shadow will be the end of all of us?! Her mind was racing, matching her rapid heart beat as she started panicking. This was supposed to be a trap for Lucas and Sonic! I never wanted this to happen! What should I do? I can't-
Ferra's eyes widened and she was startled when she suddenly felt something cold wrapping around her hand. She looked down, surprised to see Metal Sonic holding her hand, giving her a determined look.
'Analyzing current development…' Metal Sonic stared at her. 'Your safety is the new priority. We are leaving at your signal.'
''Metal…'' Ferra was stunned, only to smile warmly. Despite his overpowering desire to defeat Sonic, it appeared that Metal would drop everything the moment she was in danger and keep her safe. She took a deep breath, giving him a confident look, pumping her fists. ''No, we're not running away.''
'Does not compute. Your safety is of primary concern,' Metal Sonic responded.
''I know that you're worried about me, but even if we escape Codex, we would still get caught in the explosion. Therefore, it won't make a difference,'' Ferra explained, crouching down to be at Metal Sonic's eye-level. ''Now, there is something we can do.''
Ferra and Metal Sonic have overheard the earlier conversation, with Ferra panicking as she didn’t want for everyone to just die. Metal Sonic wants to keep her safe and suggest leaving, but Ferra notes how they would’ve been caught up in the explosion even if they did run away. However, she knows there is something they can do, telling Metal Sonic to activate his thermal detector to find Touka.
Meanwhile, Sonic, Silver and Knuckles are fighting Shadow, although Silver and Knuckles can’t get a good hit due to Sonic and Shadow moving too fast. It should be noted that, aside from Sonic, neither of them is familiar with Shadow’s combat skills, so they’re doing his best just to stall him.
Back with Lucas, Lily, Minami, Amy and Makoto, the teens are searching for Touka while Amy is bashing in every locked door, well aware that they’re running out of time. To their surprise, Metal Sonic appears and points them in the right direction, with Ferra arriving to explain their motives:
''It's a long story, but for now, we're just trying to survive!'' Ferra replied, grabbing the door knob, only to realize that it wouldn't budge. ''Ugh, stupid thing is locked! Okay, Metal, blast it apart!''
Lucas stops her, pointing out it would be smarter for Amy to smash the door in. They find an unconscious Touka inside, managing to wake her up and tell her about Shadow and how he’s basically trying to blow everything up.
Back to Sonic, Silver and Knuckles fighting Shadow, the three managed to overpower The Ultimate Lifeform for a brief moment, with Shadow then deciding to go all out.
Sonic spin-dashed into Shadow, finally knocking the black hedgehog off his feet. However, despite being on the ground, Shadow was still trying to get up, showing baffling persistence. Sonic knew that they were running out of time and that there was nothing that there would convince Shadow to stop this explosion from happening. He was too consumed by grief and rage to listen to anyone, to the point that Sonic had to wonder whether Shadow was even concerned with his own survival.
Shadow had finally managed to get up, stepping towards them. He was breathing heavily, his expression showing nothing but pure fury. Sonic stepped back, joining Knuckles and Silver as they anticipated Shadow's next move, only to be stunned when Shadow's body suddenly started to glow, a red aura surrounding him as he charged up energy. The red aura formed a sphere around Shadow as he crossed his arms, hovering in the air for a brief moment, only to unfold them, releasing a massive wave of energy.
''Chaos Blast!''
The energy blast resulted in a massive explosion, blowing up the entire area and taking Sonic, Knuckles and Silver down. Shadow landed on the ground, winded from the attack that had been fueled by his anger, hatred and pain. He still felt the adrenaline rushing through his body as he approached Sonic, standing right in front of the fallen blue hedgehog.
''I told you, I refuse to give up, Hedgehog'' he said.
''Wh-Why don't you leave?'' Sonic asked, trying to lift his head, locking eyes with Shadow. ''Y-You'll die a-as well…''
Despite having his own injuries to worry about, Sonic is still trying to get through Shadow, who is just baffled by the latter’s stubborness.
This question left Shadow stunned momentarily. As much as he had to admire Sonic's tenacity and ability to keep up with him, he couldn't understand why he was determined to talk to him, to learn more about him. Why was Sonic showing so much concern regarding his emotional and mental state? They were enemies, nothing more and nothing less. Shadow had already shown that he didn't care for him or any of his friends and was willing to kill all of them in order to fulfill his own goals.
''Do you really have nothing to live for?'' Sonic asked as he got up, pressing his hand against his shoulder and looking unsafe on his feet. Despite the beating he took, he was still smiling, baffling Shadow. How could Sonic still be willing to talk to him like this? Sonic then sighed, shaking his head. ''I guess that is what makes you so dangerous. You believe that you have nothing left to lose.''
''I agree, I have nothing left to lose,'' Shadow said, well aware that there is nothing Sonic could do. What he didn't expect was for Sonic to suddenly sucker punch him, causing him to stumble back. Shadow was shocked, rubbing his bruised cheek.
''Well, I disagree!'' Sonic told him firmly, with Knuckles and Silver standing up behind him, both still willing to continue the fight. ''Even if that's that path you have chosen, I won't give up. I will continue to fight for my friends, for Neos City, and for you as well. You might believe that I'm lying, but there is someone waiting for you.''
Side-note; this goes without saying, but at this point, Shadow is a little suicidal. He believes that he doesn’t have anything left to live for and he knows that he too will die in the explosion, yet he decides to follow through with his plan regardless of what happens to him. As Sonic pointed out, feeling as if he has nothing left to live for makes Shadow more dangerous.
However, Sonic knows the truth and he isn’t going to let Shadow die for nothing.
Knuckles and Silver stared at Sonic. While they may not have had access to the full story behind this fight, as everything happened to fast and not much had been explained, they still trusted Sonic with whatever plan he had. However, before either of them could even continue with the battle, Lucas' team suddenly ran into the area, followed by a cry that shook Shadow to his very core.
''Shadow, please, stop this!''
Shadow stared in shock at the very person he believed to be dead for so long. His crimson eyes were wide and his body was paralyzed, his heart racing as a storm of emotions hit him with full force. ''N-No… It can't be… This- This isn't possible…''
It felt like a dream. The person he cared about the most, the one he fought for and the one who wanted to avenge was standing right in front of him, alive and well.
Fortunately for the three, the rest of the team appears with Touka in tow, her appearance suddenly being what they needed to stop Shadow from continuing the fight. However, having believed that Touka was dead for so long, it will take a bit for him to realize that this is the reality.
Meanwhile, Tails and Warren are working on stopping the explosion from happening, only to run into a problem - they need a password to shut down the system.
Back with the group, Shadow is in complete disbelief of Touka being alive.
''You… You were supposed to be dead,'' Shadow responded, barely able to hold himself back. ''I saw you die!''
Touka doesn’t know how to answer, but they get interrupted by Tails and Warren, who tell them that, if they don’t get the password in the next minute and half, they’re all dead. Fortunately, Shadow rushes over to enter the password, finally ending this nightmare.
What follows next is an explanation regarding to what exactly the Codex Research Facility is and how Touka and Shadow are connected to it. However, Shadow isn’t exactly the best at communication...
There were raised eyebrows and questioning looks, mostly coming from Knuckles and Silver who hadn't been briefed on the explosion situation, all of them directed towards Touka and Shadow. Shadow was standing behind Touka, silent, staring ahead at the ground and avoiding eye-contact with everyone else, still processing the initial shock he felt when he saw Touka. He clenched his fist as a wave of remorse, guilt and shame washed over him as it dawned upon him that, hadn't Sonic and his friends rushed in to stop him, he would've killed Touka unknowingly – this time, for real.
How… How could I let this happen? Shadow's clenched fist was trembling as cold chills were flowing through his body. He was bitter, angry, hateful towards the world for all the suffering he had to go through, and all of that had blinded him, leaving him focused on only getting revenge. Had he known that Touka was inside the building, that she was still alive, then maybe he wouldn't have gone this path… right? Shadow's ears were pinned down as he remembered all the research logs he had found. I had been created to be a weapon, so, even with Touka's presence...
Touka, whose memories have returned for the most part, explains how she woke up six months before with complete amnesia and how her memories started to resurface only recently. While she remembers her life at the Codex Research Facility, she doesn’t remember her life before that.
Both Touka and Shadow proceed to explain that the Codex Research Facility has been established as a major research institute, mainly focusing on Irregulars and AR technology, as well as investigating BioEnergy. It also covered other fields, such as genetics, medical research, renewable energy and weaponization of AR technology for the government and military. It was supposed to be unknown to the majority of the public.
The reason why it was abandoned was because of an Irregular attack, with Touka trying to remember what exactly had happened, as she and Shadow were the victims of that attack, even retracing her steps back to the room where the attack had happened, with Silver pointing out it that the room looks like Shadow used a Chaos Blast on it.
''Why was an Irregular even here?'' Amy asked.
''I think it broke out of its containment…'' Touka muttered, recalling the sound of a blaring siren and the red flashing lights. Shadow didn't bother to correct her that the Irregular had been released on purpose. Touka then shrugged, adding in a dismissive tone, ''However, I don't think it matters anymore. That stuff is now in the past and what happened cannot be changed.''
However, before the conversation can continue, they find crystals on the ground, similar to the ones Tails, Warren, Silver and Makoto had found. Tails asks Sonic to go back and grab his backpack at the computer room, so he can analyze the crystals, only for Sonic to call them a moment later with bad news.
''I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have a situation here,'' Sonic interrupted, having grabbed the holographic screen and pointing it towards the main monitor in the room, which displayed a map of Neos City, with warning screens popping up next to it, as well as a timer. ''The countdown has started again!''
The group is, understandably, worried about the countdown being restarted, even though this shouldn’t be possible, as Shadow had deactivated it. Tails and Warren try to shut it down again, but are unsuccessful. As they brainstorm who might’ve activated the countdown again, Lucas turns to Ferra and Metal Sonic, who admit that someone else told them about this place, but they don’t know who it was. Lucas decides that they need to act now.
''Okay, but what are we supposed to do?'' Makoto asked.
''Warren and I did a little analysis on how the system works when we prepared to shut it down,'' Tails said as he sat back at the computer, typing on the keyboard and bringing up a layout of the system on the main monitor. ''Do you see those red dots and the waves? That's the energy produced by the energy cores, sent towards Neos City via the AR Fields.''
''Is there a way to cut it off?'' Lucas asked, feeling that this would be the obvious solution.
''No,'' Warren told him. ''We would need to shut down the energy cores for that.''
''How about containing it?'' Silver rose his voice, drawing everyone's attention. ''I mean, we want to prevent Neos City from being destroyed and the source of the explosion is here, so what if we try to contain it and let it affect only one area?''
Warren and Tails exchanged glances, then started to type something, looking intrigued. Tails grinned, turning back, ''Silver, you're a genius! It looks like we can reverse the flow of energy back to here, leaving Neos City unaffected.''
With Silver’s suggestion of containing the explosion, the team runs into another problem, as they don’t know how to contain it. Silver volunteers to use his psychokinesis for that, but Makoto feels it is too much of a risk, even if they use Chaos Surge. The rest of the team is a bit at loss, when Shadow just decides to resolve this problem by himself.
Sonic suddenly perked up as he heard footsteps, him and his friends watching Shadow as he walked past them and going towards the entrance, a determined look on his expression. ''Shadow, what are you up to?'' Shadow didn't answer, vanishing into the hallway instead. Sonic quickly ran up to him, startling the dark hedgehog as he stepped in front of him. ''Hey, dude, I asked you something.''
''I'm taking care of the mess I had created,'' Shadow told him in a grim tone. Sonic looked past him, noticing Lucas and Touka entering the hallway, then turned towards Shadow as he continued to speak, his expression barely masking the guilt he felt. ''If I use Chaos Control, I will be able to transport the energy cores to somewhere they would cause no harm.''
Surprisingly, Sonic was silent. Shadow gave him a questioning look, with Sonic asking in a whisper-like tone, ''Why do you sound like you're going to do something you're going to regret?''
''Let's just go,'' Shadow replied, sighing. Sonic gave him a thumbs up.
''Don't worry, you're not alone here,'' he said, turning his attention back to the rest of his friends, who observed this exchange. ''Let's go save the world!''
Having something of a plan, the group follows Shadow to the energy cores, with Lily and Knuckles spotting Ferra and Metal Sonic leaving, retorting how there is no reason for the two to be here anymore.
Arriving at the storage, Shadow points out how they’d need to remove the energy cores by disconnecting them from the system, with Tails and Warren working back at the computer room to make sure the energy cores are safe to remove. During their work, Touka notes that Shadow is unusually quiet around her, bringing up something that was bothering her about Shadow’s plan.
''It is about Chaos Control,'' she said, with Shadow giving her a questioning look. ''If I remember correctly, you have to physically touch whatever you're taking along, right?''
''You're correct,'' Shadow said in a quiet tone, wondering just how much Touka had remembered.
''That means that you will also have to stay close to the energy cores,'' Touka continued, with Shadow nodding. ''I also remember that you told me once that, depending on how far you teleport and on what you teleport along with you, it can be quite exhausting.''
''That's true,'' Shadow muttered, remembering the first time he attempted to use Chaos Control. Not only did he end up in a random locked room, but he used all of his energy and was too exhausted to even move. It was quite embarrassing and he swore to himself that he would figure out how to control his ability better. However, he still had his limits and he was aware that his power alone might not be enough to save everyone.
''Shadow…'' Shadow was startled when Touka suddenly crouched beside him, locking eyes with him and placing her hands on her shoulders. There was a glint in her eyes, which Shadow realized to be a sign of tears. ''Please, be honest with me. Do you have enough energy left to Chaos Control the energy cores away and return?''
Shadow was silent, staring at Touka and feeling a huge weight on his chest. He wanted to answer, but it felt like he had something stuck in his throat, preventing him from responding. He wanted to assure her that everything would be fine, but he was aware that reality was different. He looked down, shaking his head. Both knew the answer to this question.
''Then, I won't let you go.''
Shadow looked up, shocked at Touka's response. She was giving him a resolute look, with Shadow being aware that this meant that nothing he said would make her change her mind. It still didn't stop him from protesting.
''I am responsible for this mess and I won't leave until you're safe. If I have to sacrifice my own life, then so be it,'' Shadow told her firmly, clenching his fist. However, the look of despair Touka gave him made him feel a cold chill flow down his spine, his quills bristling. He hated confronting her like this, but he had no other choice.
''If that's so, then I'm going with you,'' Touka responded in a frustrated tone, her eyes tearing up. Neither she nor Shadow had noticed Silver, who had approached them to pick up the energy core.
''I'm not going to let you die because of me!'' Shadow bellowed, causing Touka to step back. His cry of frustration had not only startled Silver, who quietly observed the conversation between the two, but also drew everyone else's attention.
''Shadow, I had promised you that we would get out of this place one day and I'm not leaving without you!'' Touka fought back with unrelenting determination. ''I don't want to lose you again!'' Shadow went silent, staring at her in shock, his eyes wide, unable to come up with any kind of response. Touka's firm gaze then wavered, softening into a more pleading one. ''I hate that I don't remember everything, but I hate it even more that I had forgotten that promise.''
Shadow's gaze fell. He too remembered the promise they made all too well and he wanted nothing more but to finally leave his past behind and forget about everything that had happened at the Codex Research Facility. However, with the situation being how it was, that just wasn't possible. He was the only one capable of fixing his own mistake properly and he knew that it would be at the cost of his own life.
''I don't think you should sacrifice your own life either.'' Shadow turned around, surprised to see Sonic behind him. Silver was also there, just standing awkwardly with the energy cores floating around him. ''I told you before, you still have something to live for.''
''I don't disagree with you,'' Shadow said in a regretful tone, with Sonic tilting his head, his arms folded across his chest. ''However, there is no other option.''
Sonic brings up that, instead of Shadow risking his life, he could use Chaos Surge to give himself a boost so he could warp the energy cores away without putting himself in danger, with Touka volunteering her own BioEnergy for this plan. Shadow, however, refuses, despite knowing that they’re right, revealing what really happened during the Irregular attack.
''I was the reason why you almost lost your life,'' Shadow said, surprising everyone. ''I was a complete fool, having resorted to use your BioEnergy in the fight against that Irregular, and when it was over, I was told you were dead.'' He shook his head, his voice shaking. ''I'm not going to repeat the same mistake again!''
''Shadow…'' Touka muttered, feeling sorry for him. Despite all of his hatred towards the humans that betrayed him, he still blamed himself for what had happened to her. She exchanged quiet glances with Sonic and Silver, the latter leaving to quickly pick up the remaining energy cores after Lucas waved him over. She clenched her fists, a determined look forming on her expression. ''I know you won't repeat your mistake, and that is why I want us to try out Chaos Surge.''
Shadow is stunned that, despite the risks, Touka would still try to use Chaos Surge, eventually agreeing to it. As they gather all the energy cores, Lucas tells everyone to get out while he, Sonic, Touka and Shadow stay back to deal with them.
''Okay, ready to learn how to use Chaos Surge?'' Sonic asked. Shadow nodded, being ready to finally confront his fears and the pain that came with it. He looked at Touka, giving her a look of pure determination.
''I will hold on to our promise,'' he said, with Touka smiling, happy to see him overcome his doubts. The two then looked at Sonic and Lucas.
''All that you have to do is activate the BioEnergy. Once it is active, don't absorb it, but let it float. You both need to feel it,'' Sonic explained.
''Once you do, then you both need to absorb it. Don't be afraid of going for it and stay focused,'' Lucas continued, him and Sonic stretching out their arms, blue energy crackling between them. Both could feel the BioEnergy transforming into something far more powerful.
''Chaos Surge!''
Touka and Shadow watched the two as they absorbed the energy, leading the two to become enveloped in a blue aura, with electricity sparking around them, both Lucas and Sonic giving the two a confident look. Touka then looked at Shadow, extending her hand, with Shadow grabbing it without any hesitance. He could sense her BioEnergy, calling for him to absorb it, to become stronger. However, he rejected this power. It wasn't just for him, but for both of them.
''Chaos Surge!''
A bright dark red and orange orb of energy appeared between the two, sparks of electricity enveloping them as they both absorbed it, now empowered. Shadow's eyes were now glowing in an orange and red colour as he and Touka turned towards the energy cores, which were now burning in a hot red.
''Ready?'' Touka asked as she stepped on one side of the energy cores, extending her hands before them as she felt the Chaos energy surging through her body.
''I am,'' Shadow mirrored her actions, focusing on the Chaos energy inside his body. It was far stronger than anything else he had experience and he was going to use every drop of it to save this world.
Both of their eyes glowed red as they were enveloped by a blue field of energy, determined to carry out this mission to the bitter end.
''CHAOS CONTROL!''
Outside, Ferra and Metal Sonic are waiting, with Metal Sonic wanting to get Ferra out of harm’s way, but Ferra points out they’re dead regardless as they’re still within the explosion radius. They see Tails, Warren, Knuckles, Lily, Amy, Minami, Silver and Makoto exit the building, with everyone waiting anxiously for the countdown to finish.
''3… 2… 1…'' Tails continued anxiously, his tails flicking. Then, everyone felt as if their heart was going to stop.
KA-BOOOM!!!
There was a bright flash high in the sky, far above them, followed by a thunderous ear-shattering explosion. Everyone fell on their knees, closing their eyes and covering their ears as the earth beneath them shook and wave of gust knocked them over, bending, if not flattening, some of the smaller trees and bushes. It felt like the beginning of a natural catastrophe, but as soon as the explosion happened, it also stopped.
Ferra and Metal Sonic looked up, both protected by Metal Sonic's Black Shield. Metal Sonic dropped it once he assessed that they were safe and they observed the group before them as they got up, looking dazed from what had just happened.
With the energy cores exploding high in the sky, away from everyone, they realize that they actually made it. They saved Neos City, with Lucas and Sonic quickly bringing out an Touka and Shadow to the rest of the group. The two are not used to using BioEnergy, hence why they’re completely exhausted. At this point, Ferra and Metal Sonic leave, figuring they’d have plenty of opportunities to find out how to use Chaos Surge on their own.
As for the rest of the group, everyone’s just happy the adventure is over... although Lucas and Sonic are convinced that this is just the beginning (they’re right).
Touka and Shadow decide to leave. While both are thankful to Lucas, Sonic and the rest of their friends, neither of them plan to hang out with the rest of the group. However, it is obvious that this won’t be the case in the future.
''Shadow, wait!'' Shadow and Touka stopped walking, turning around to suddenly see Tails flying up to them, reaching for his backpack and taking something out of it and then placed it into Shadow's hand. To Shadow's surprise, it was a pair of goggles with dark grey frames, a brown band and orange-red lenses. It took a moment for Shadow to realize that it was an AR Visor. ''I almost forgot; since you're also an Irregular, you will need this. It has a special program that hides your identity as an Irregular from the Hunters.''
Shadow was stunned, looking at Tails, then back at the goggles, muttering quietly, ''Thank you.''
''You're welcome,'' Tails replied in a chipper tone, continuing when he saw Shadow's questioning look, ''At first, I made those just for me and Sonic, since I figured that it would be much easier to hide our identities as Irregulars instead of having to hide ourselves. Then, Knuckles appeared, so I made another for him. Then Amy and later Silver appeared, and I made AR Visors for them too. In the end, I had figured it would be a good idea to have a spare AR Visor just in case another Irregular like us appears. All you have to do is to put it on.''
Shadow looked hesitant for a moment, but then did as Tails instructed him, placing the goggles on his forehead and carefully placing the band between his quills. Touka placed her hands on her back, bowing over slightly as she grinned.
''The goggles look really great on you,'' she said, with Shadow smiling in response. His smile then quickly faded into a frown when he saw Sonic run up to them, grinning.
''You know, you may not want to be friends with us, but that still doesn't mean that we can't hang out,'' Sonic said. ''Despite all the craziness and battles, we did have some fun, didn't we?''
''While I appreciate your help, Blue Hedgehog, I'm not interested in being in your company longer than necessary,'' Shadow responded, turning around. ''This is a farewell.''
He and Touka then walked away, only for Shadow to suddenly flinch, feeling exasperated when he heard Sonic's response.
''See ya later, Shad!'' Sonic yelled for everyone to hear, waving Shadow and Touka goodbye. The two didn't respond, despite their obvious reaction, vanishing into the forest. Sonic smirked in satisfaction, glancing at Tails as he placed a hand on his hip. ''The two will come around eventually.''
Tails laughed, ''I had figured you wouldn't give up on them.''
''I believe that all they need is a simple nudge in the right direction. Shadow isn't a bad guy and I'm looking forward to running into him again,'' Sonic responded, with the rest of the group approaching them. ''Now, com'n, let's go home!''
This entry marks the ending of The Ultimate Life Form Arc, but not the ending of the story. The next Arc focuses on the aftermath of this arc, placing the story pieces for the future arcs, as well as delving into how exactly Sonic and Lucas, Tails and Warren, Knuckles and Lily, Amy and Minami, Silver and Makoto, Shadow and Touka, and Ferra and Metal Sonic met each other. It also finally introduces the main villain of Sonic Cyber Revolution - Doctor Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik.

More Sonic Headcanons baby!
If you haven't seen the other headcanons I've made here ya go:
Part 1
Part 2
Anyway let's get started!
•First things first is I resigned Knuckles and Sonic because I didnt like how they looked. It's very different from how they used to look
Tumblr media
@frogboy0 for the help with these two!
•Okay so Knuckles looks more like he's related to the Kuckles clan and Sonic looks like he came out of the 90's or something like that XD. @frogboy0 thought the Letterman like jacket would look better on him and he was right. We also decided to give Kunckles a headband because we thought it be cool and it was.
•Okay so this headcanon is gonna surprise you but.....Knuckles is Sticks adoptive father. Sonic found her in forest one day and was stuck in a bear trap or something so Sonic, being the fucking king he is, saves the little garbage child but she put up a fight. Scratching and clawing at the blue hedgehog. Sonic took her back to his house he shares with Amy, Tails and Kunckles (who stays there only occasionally in account of having to guard the Master Emerald.)
Tumblr media
•She wouldn't answer any of his questions about who she was or anything like that. Once he made it home, Amy and Tails( mostly tails since...well look at her) were freaked out by this child. Sonic and his siblings try to calm her down but it didn't do much. Later on as they do this, Knuckles comes in after a tired day and sees the three of them all disarranged as a manic little badger messes up their house. Knuckles gets told what happened and he angrily yells at the girl who is shocked at how he isn't afraid of her in the slightest. And she liked the echina.
•Sticks then clings to Kunckles all the time and follows him everywhere, him being the only few to touch her.  She starts to see him as father and Sonic finds it adorable while Amy and Tails laugh and make fun of Kunckles who (lies) hates being called that.
•She starts coming with him to watch the Master Emerald and Kunckles is glad she enjoys it as much as he does. She also starts wearing body paint like him too and dresses like his tribe would. Knuckles is utterly soft for it. (I love them so muchhhhh)
•Soon though, when she meets Rouge she starts to do the same thing she does with Knuckles, much to Rouge's distaste at first. She hates kids (lies) so the moment she sees this trash child she voices her opinion about how unclean she looks (as one does). Knuckles proceeds to yell at her for calling his daughter unclean. Sticks was shocked when Rouge was so willing to voice her opinion and sees how unhinged the bat was and was quickly star struck by the cool bat. Sticks then calls her mom because who wouldn't want someone as badass as Rouge as their mother?
•Rouge, of course, is utterly shocked when she called her mother and soon is oddly touch that this child sees her as her parent, (as weird as she is) even though she is slowly warming up to another person that she cares about besides herself.
Tumblr media
•Sticks is a full supporter of wanting Knuckles and Rouge to be together. Why wouldn't she want her father and mother to be together?
•She waste no time trying to set them up whenever she got the chance. Though, when they (finally) get to get together, they become a cute little family (HHHHH IM SO SOFT OKAY)
•Okay so (I think) as I said before about Cream she loves Blaze and Shadow so much that she starts taking their punk/alternative kinda aesthetics and dresses like them.
Tumblr media
•She is still nice to everyone but Tails because they gonna throw hands. They both still think the other is copy them
•Amy and Sonic cry together as they go through old photographs of Tails and Cream because they were more friendly with eachother back then. They just want them to get along. Cream and Tails are lesbian and pan hostility
•Cream gets a crush on Sticks because she is wild and she likes her women stupid
•"wow she's so dumb, I wanna marry her"
•She is also in a relationship with Marine too and hates how Tails also has two bfs now( Ray and Charmy) because this is too much of a coincidence to be true that they are so similar XD
•Tails and Cream fight over Cosmo because they want her to pick who she likes more but she just smiles and walks away
•"Cosmo dont you want to be with me more?" "Bitch no me!" "..... :) bye"
Tumblr media
•Blaze and Silver are siblings okay
•When Blaze first met him he gave her his scarf to keep warm even though she can make her own body heat with her fire (he's an idoit okay) and she has hardly ever taken it off since
•She is extremely attached to him and one of the first reasons Blaze fell in love with Amy was how good she takes care of him
•Amy and Blaze just spoil lil Silver because he is babey
•Amy just love anyone sonic shaped. Shadow, Silver, metal sonic etc.
Tumblr media
•Speaking of metal Sonic, Amy and them are besties
•Amy colored blush on two nail nuts on his cheeks to look like he is always blushing and eggman thinks his child is adorable
----------
That's all for now (again) but I hoped u enjoyed my shitty headcanons :D

Sonic Headcanon
Hot Take - Sonic and friends are ALL huggers.
They love to tease, nag, mess with, and challenge each other, but if any one of them ever sees that another friend is crying or near tears, or any kind of sad, it’s all big hugs, hold your hand till it’s over, “no, it’s ok, just let it out,” “don’t worry I’ll stay with you,” aggressively supportive—big on love, friendship.
Sonic is the best at finding the bright side. Gives solid hugs, can make anyone smile. Will never give up on them, and bonus - they know whatever the problem he’ll stick with them, and see it through to the end.
Tails is the sweetest. Fluffy warm hugs, and reminds them how actually amazing they are. Can offer at least 5 solutions to any problem, or alternatively suggests, “let’s play your favorite game.”
Knuckles gives wrap them up, must protect, shield them from everything until this passes hugs. Then will share some beautiful place, where they’ll sit together watching the sun set, and the stars rise and talk about it late into the night.
Amy gives no hesitation, hold them tight, “it’s going to be alright sweetie,” hugs. Dries their tears, believes in them with all her heart, and offers some homemade dessert for smiles.
Mighty is everyone’s big brother, knows just what to say, exudes calm, best advice, will stay with them through anything—plus a warm hugs that feels like home.
Ray is all sweetness and make them laugh, and knows how to get their mind off it, hugs. Also knows a good place to make some trouble when they just wanna break things.
Vector is a scoop them up, squeeze tight and give a gentle noogie hugger. Then he’ll balk at whatever notion got them down, and explain how they are every bit amazing enough to overcome it.
Charmy is the most helpful. Brings tissues, and a blanket, and their favorite snack, plays their favorite song, sweet tiny hugs, and will spend the rest of the day trying his best to cheer them up.
Espio holds their hand tight, wraps an arms round their shoulders, and tells them “it’s ok to cry—it’s better to let it all out.” And then afterwards, slips away invisibly and puts an end to the thing that made them sad. Silver tends to lead with “do you want to talk about it,” first, but whatever the answer follows up with an epic hug. Is someone who will listen. No judgment, thoughtful advice. Epitome of kind and caring friend. Will always make time for them.
Ok, Rouge actually doesn't like casual hugs. Instead she’ll trick them into talking it out, offer strikingly insightful advice, and help them feel a million times better about it—and will then begrudgingly accept a hug.
Shadow is a last resort hugger. If he’s the only one available, will give a hesitant though incredible hug, but the whole time he’ll be thinking about (or alternatively if someone else was available to hug) he’ll be plotting ultimate destruction of the thing that made them cry.
Omega gives gentle head pats to smol things that cry. Will also destroy aggressors.
That's how it is. Fight Me.

Current Projects & Emoji Voting Key
Quick disclaimer: I’m a romance writer in all aspects of the term, so most of my works will contain mature content. Engage at your own risk, you know the rules, you’re responsible for curating your own experience of the internet, blah blah blah.
This post serves as a current mock up of fic ideas I’m either actively working on or considering working on next. You can drop me an ask about any of them, or just vote via the emoji combo I’ve assigned them.
Voting lets me know you’re excited about an idea and makes it more likely I’ll actually work on it. You can vote anytime, there’re no deadlines or winner announcements, just me gauging your interest by what I see in my ask box most often.
You can also ask me about the original stuff I’m working on currently. The current WIPs are Medusa centric and the emoji for them is: 🐍
Support my original work on Ko-fi and Patreon.
- Lupin: 🤑🤠💍  These are all oneshot ideas, between 5-15K each. If you want to vote for a specific idea, send me the emojis and the number of the idea.
Born from the idea that Goemon and Zenigata probably couldn’t be an item, my brain decided to come up with how I could write for them. Goemon’s teaching an ikebana class as part of his training, and Zenigata shows up as a student on forced recreational leave for his health from the ICPO. Zenigata wins the samurai’s heart through flowers. But what happens when Lupin and Jigen find out? (Only good sexy things, I promise. These beans are in a healthy polycule--be gay, do crimes) (WIP)
Jigen/Lupin, but it's Jigen deciding to seduce Lupin while wearing his own Lupin disguise. The thief is waaaaay too into it, and some artistry is taken with the sex so that they don't mess up the disguise too much during their encoutner.
Jigen/Zenigata/Lupin where Jigen has some fantasices about Zenigata, but is pretty sure they'll never happen. Tells Lupin about them. Suddenly the fantasies are coming true, in the middle of a heist, and Jigen doesn't what to do except get swept up in the moment and enjoy. Plot twist, it's Lupin dressed up as Zenigata granting all his gunman's dreams. Plot twist again, Zenigata catches them at it.
Zenigata/Lupin, where Lupin keeps doing good things in illegal ways and Pops has to find a way to punish him for it. Good thing for Pops Lupin's a masochist?
Trans!Lupin and Trans!Jigen premise: Jigen cares for Lupin after the master thief has top surgery, since Jigen has Been There and Done That. Caring, sweet, and a little sexy. Lupin is a much better patient than Jigen.
The one time Zenigata caught Lupin in an alley and kissed him and it was Jigen in disguise. Things get sexy anyway, and Zenigata has crushes on two thieves now. Lupin and Jigen "kidnap" him later for an evening of taking care of their inspector.
The background plot of Jigen's Gravestone where we see Jigen think he's done for and try to leave Lupin. Our thief has none of it, and we get to relish in the inherent eroticism of Lupin sitting in sniper fire, knowing Jigen's got his back. This is the moment I think Jigen finally believes he can be with Lupin forever.
I love the idea of something longer and more plot driven like a Lupin special where Lupin ends up in hot water and Jigen and Fujiko have to work together to save him. Jigen and Fujiko have such an interesting relationship. They're both partners of Lupin, they don't really like each other, they constantly screw the other over, but when it really matters they take care of each other. I'd like to see that highlighted a little more and also give them space to call each other out and bicker. Nothing sexy between them, but maybe a really interesting threesome with Lupin and Fujiko in a strap on once they save their boy.
- Sonic Vampire Novelist Coffee Shop AU: 📚☕💐
Shadow is an immortal vampire who has seen the world change for the worse too many times. These days it feels like he only lives for his coffee dates with Rouge, another immortal who loves each new era they encounter, warts and all. He has to admit that the book series she got him into speaks to him, at least. If someone in this era can understand him without meeting him, it can’t all be bad. But he hardly expected the goofy blue barista at the new coffee place to understand him the way those books do.
This is a novel length romcom romp with some big feelings about what it means to watch as things change, grow, and die. Expect lots of Big gothic feelings from this one, emotionally charged kissing, and overly-adoring sex. But also expect shenanigans from everyone in the coffee shop, which include Rouge, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Cream, and more.
- Sonic Blazamy, "Like the Sun": 💖🌸💎
Amy Rose has been in love with Sonic for a while.
Or has she?
When the Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Silver are trapped as the fuel sources for Doctor Eggman’s newest evil scheme, Amy teams up with Blaze, Rouge, and Cream to save them. With Sonic out of the picture and Amy fulfilling his role, was she ever really in love with him? Or did she just want to be like him?
This is a novel length epic romance with lots of competent women and lots of romantic Blazamy content. Expect flowery hopes and dreams, badass self-actualization, and glancing hand touches that give way to cuddly and sweet sex.
- Persona 5: 🗡🍛☕
After bringing down the Metaverse twice, Ryuji didn’t think graduating high school and figuring out what to do with his life would be so hard. Akira’s back in town, and the gang’s more-or-less all in Tokyo, but everyone else seems to have a plan while Ryuji just floats. How’s he supposed to change the world when he’s not a phantom thief anymore?
This is a novel length fic that addresses how powerless one can feel being just one person in the face of all the corrupted systems and bigotry the world has to offer. It’s about holding on to what you believe in, working through the doubt, and fighting your way to a better tomorrow with the power you do have. The whole gang is queer, featured relationships being Mako x Ann, Ryuji x Akira, Futaba & Yusuke as platonic life partners. Akira is polyamorous and omnisexual, Futaba’s asexual and aromantic while Yusuke is demisexual and very romantic, Makoto’s a lesbian, Ann and Ryuji are bi, and Haru’s pansexual, demisexual, and aromantic. They’re one giant band of queer Phantom Thieves, and even if they’re not really doing the Metaverse thing anymore, they’re still gonna save the world!
Also, I’m gonna make Makoto not a cop. That super didn’t age well. Zenkichi and his boss can work on making them better/abolishing them for other better organizations.
- Hades Game: ❤️‍🔥💀
Oneshot. I just really need to elaborate on the threesome you can have with them in-game, okay? Healthy and canon poly relationships are so few and far between, so often I have to do a ton of groundwork to explain why it’s working in the fic, but NOT WITH THESE KIDS!
Get ready for Meg helping Zag and Than be better at expressing their feelings, lots of kissing, and probably pegging.
- Castlevania Animation Trevor/Sypha/Alucard: 🧛🏰🛌
Castlevania gave Alucard a threesome last season, and I just really need S4 to give me him being taken care of by his partners. They’re probably not going to give it to me, so I’ll need to do it myself. This is just an everybody loves Alucard oneshot, with the gang’s signature banter (to an extent), Sypha being sexy, and Trever being remarkably sincere. This fic is gonna feel like that Ann Hathaway picture with Trevor kissing Alucard and Sypha holding the end of Trevor’s whip while she leans her head on Alucard’s shoulder adoringly.
- Devil May Cry Nico/Lady/Trish: 💋✨😈
Nico’s gay, okay? Like really, really gay. And Lady’s bi and not into men who make her pay bills, but very into women who make amazing guns for her and demonesses with hearts who fight by her side. Trish is ace, but loves people and is pretty attached to Lady at this point. Plus it’s cute when Lady blushes and says nice things like they’re insults. I don’t have super solid ideas for them yet, and I envision these more like a polycule where Lady’s with Nico and with Trish but they’re not with each other more than seeing it as a threesome, but who knows what might happen. This is probably 1-2 oneshots depending on ideas, but might turn into a series of oneshots if people are interested (or I can’t control myself and inspiration strikes).
- Post FMA:B Blind Roy & No Alchemy Ed: 👀👑🙏
This is actually an old novel-length fic I wrote ages ago and didn’t post that didn’t turn out well because I was new to writing sex when I first wrote it. The plot is good, and is all about Roy learning to work with his blindness to reclaim his ambition of being Fuhrer and changing the system to something that actually cares for its people. He and Ed reconnect, fall into bed, and both set about working through their respective traumas about being “useless” having lost their sight/alchemy. They go to Xing as an ambassadorial party to offer Amestris’s collaboration on Al and May’s Alkahestry experiments--and uncover a plot that might threaten both kingdoms.
- Age of Calamity continuity Mipha x Revali: 🦚🐟💘
The first time Revali noticed Mipha, it was in the heat of battle. She stole his mark, taking them down with a flurry of quick blows from her spear. Violence rained from her like water--and then she healed him on her way to her next battle. No questions, no conditions, just pure kindness. The usual need to measure himself against those around him was quiet in her wake. And Revali couldn’t understand it. But how to get to know more about her? A fish and bird may fall in love, but where would they live?
This fic could be a oneshot or novel length depending on how far down the hole I fall. I need it to cover time, but it could be done in linked vignettes or with actually covering events in detail. I may elect to do a oneshot just to get it done and out of my system faster. So much fic to write, so little time.
Expect trans!Revali, polyamorous Zoras, scary competent Mipha, songbird Revali, love confessions that are made up entirely of berating Link for not loving Mipha the way she wants him to, and breaking these characters a little outside of their assigned roles in BotW and Age of Calamity. Background Link x Zelda, and Urbosa x Zelda’s Mom.
- Epic desert romance about Urbosa and Zelda’s mom: 🏜🏝⚡
I just think Urbosa should kiss women and Zelda’s mom should get more development and maybe a name or something. Also, lightning imagery/metaphors/play.
It also went way over my head that Riju wasn’t Urbosa’s daughter the first time I played BotW, so now I want to write about the Gerudo queen who refused to produce an heir. The Gerudo are fascinating and have a very interesting cutlure, but I think it could be examined from a nonbinary perspective that rejected pregnancy and wanting to find a husband. Not in like a hateful way, but in a way that examines if that’s really right for everyone. There’s that shop in town that sells Voe armor, after all. Maybe finding a husband and having children isn’t something you have to do if you don’t want to. And Urbosa really doesn’t want to.

Random AU Sonamy cause you know what?
Tumblr media
Prompt:
It was time to go.
That other dimension… I didn’t figure I’d come back, but I couldn’t let my friends know that.
They each saw through me though, first with Tails and that Team Chaotix. Although Tails tried to send me off with as much hope as he could muster without shedding a tear, his entourage were wiping their tears without holding back or hiding. I respected them for it, but Tails even more, for how brave he wanted to be for me.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take of this…” I slowly raised my hand, expecting myself to say, ‘See ya around!’ but couldn’t muster it this time… instead, I just held it up… and let it flop down as though trying to act just as cool as my little dude.
I kicked the ground with a hop in my step as I moved back and raced off, heading to the next group, which were waiting to hold the portal for me when it opened.
“You’re a brave soul, Sonic… I’ve admired you for that.” Was probably the only directly nice thing Shadow ever said to me. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a swell guy! If you minus all the shady things he did in his ‘awakened’ life outside of Dr. Gerald Robotnik, but I could tell he was trying to be respectful too.
“Hey, it’s not that big of a sacrifice. Besides! With me gone, you’ll finally have a reason to show up!” I gave a goofy grin and put my hand to his shoulder, swaggering up with a wobble of my head and jerked upwards a thumbs-up from my hand.
He actually gave me a crooked smile for a moment… before dispersing off again with Rouge and Omega, looking disheartened.
Rouge looked like she wanted to say something, maybe ‘Be careful, Sonic’ but she didn’t quite get it out in time.
She stepped forward and put her hands to her chest, but as Shadow passed, looked down and decided not to say it. ...Probably for the best, I was getting sick of half-meanings. I wasn’t coming back, and the slim chance I could, I would be barely alive to tell the tale.
As she turned, something triggered in my mind. ‘Oh yeah… I’m forgetting someone.’ I felt myself getting reluctant. The person she reminded me of… the person that would definitely not be okay with any false hope, generalized chit-chat, and who wouldn’t hold her tongue back on how she felt about it.
Neither her tears… She would be the one to say, ‘Come back, Sonic.’ without a shred of regret.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, and lifted my head up from that realization that I would have to face her… and convince her… of letting me leave…
For good this time.
“It’s not like you to look so gloomy, Sonic.” Knuckles… the only one who really wouldn’t put on a front that was fake.
I turned to him and flicked my nose, as we stood and faced each other, saying more with our stares into the other’s soul then any ‘not saying it’ goodbyes everyone else was trying to hold back.
He shakingly held up a hand, and seeing him about to lose himself, I took it immediately, giving him strength to help him rise up and stay strong.
He nodded, but couldn’t look back in my eyes… he was probably gonna cry somewhere off on Angel Island… and I… preferred it that way.
I gave a strong pull and tightened my grip on the embraced hands, giving him a strong look, and he finally smiled with a ‘tsk’, realizing I wasn’t gonna let him go till he could do it.
He returned the gesture and smirked, narrowing his eyes back into mine.
‘That’s it, buddy. Don’t falter the good fight.’ I thought to myself as we held that position for a moment, and finally… he let me go.
“Safe travels… but that would be an understatement.” He folded his arms, still smiling, before looking his head to the ground and concealing his smile… “Tails told me he wanted to say more to you… I would let him.”
“...Haa..!” I breathed out and arched my back towards the ground, not really wanting to face another hard goodbye so soon… but if it meant holding off from confronting Amy… I would do it. “Guess everyone’s taking my vacation kinda hard, huh?” I joked, but Knuckles just grabbed my head and started rough-housing his glove against my spiky quilled head.
“Get in a tan while you’re at it! You’re too pale skinned!” he gruffed.
I tried to push my head up but he kept it down, “H-hey! Knuckles!” but I did get a glance up… and let him keep my head down…
I could see water streaming down his muzzle like a cascading waterfall… guess I was bound to see it. No use keeping it all together and within.
With Knuckles and Tails… I embraced them, closing my eyes as Tails finally said what he really wanted to.
“I won’t forget you!” He cried out, gripping my back tightly. “I will be everything you believed me to be! I will protect the planet and things we love most, and I won’t let Eggman get away with this!”
‘Hang in there, buddy.’ I just lightly patted his back, about two or three, but was really starting to feel the toll now.
My eyes felt droopy, I was losing energy…
“You’re not gonna be alone! In that dimension, I’m sure you’ll meet others that look like us too! They’ll be there to support you, I’m sure of it!” Tails’s comforts only gave me a greater stone in my heart, but I knew he was only trying to help.
“Thanks, buddy. Take care of yourselves.” I pulled away but felt Tails resisting.
I paused as Knuckles saw I couldn’t show Tails my face… and took his arm.
“Come on, kid. He’s got a whole galaxy and then some to save.” Knuckles helped pulled Tails off and redirect his tears and anguish onto himself, having him coil up with his tails around Knuckles and start banging his chest.
“He doesn’t have to go alone! We could go with him!” he cried out, as I froze in my spot… tired. Too tired to even walk ahead… to be away from hearing it… to be away from my friends who were as close as family to my lonely self now… though I’d never admit it out loud.
“...Then who’d be here, Tails? Guarding the Master Emerald? Saving this world?” Come on, don’t give him--or me--that.” He patted his back strongly, “Stay strong, kid. We’ve gotta show him off with strength, it’s that strength he’ll need for the coming battle.”
“R-right…” Tails fought through his tears and turned around, “Sonic… We’re with you. You have our strength.” he held up his fists,... but I didn’t feel strength.
I felt so… weak.
I felt my body wanting to just submit but I wouldn’t let it.
I gave a sharp nod behind me, letting it linger, showing my friends nothing was going to phase me… and took off.
I couldn’t face Amy.
How could I?
I almost collapsed to my knees unable to move from everyone else!
However… my feet brought me to her home, and by now, it was pretty late at night.
She had no idea.
She didn’t know I was leaving, how long I’d be… how I needed her to move on.
A part of me hated to imagine that. But as I approached the home, the lights were out, and I felt a moment of relief.
‘Sleeping…’ my eyes lowered, as I tenderly and sorrowfully looked up to her window. ‘Quietly… peacefully… I shouldn’t disturb it.’
I felt so weary… tired of saying so many goodbyes without actually saying the stupid word.
I hated it.
The tears… the fear no one was admitting… the unknown was now looming over my fate, and at first I felt prepared… but now… I just wanted to get it over with.
‘Keep my friends safe first, then move on.’ I tightened my fist, finding a resolve. ‘I’ve gotta at least see her… Even if it is the last time…’
I felt power rising back to my bones, my muscles tensing and getting ready. I zoomed off to pick a flower, one I had always found to be Amy’s favorite--and well, might as well admit mine too--and took off to a tree branch right at her window.
I was off-balance, flailing a bit as I only had the tip of my shoe to steady myself on the ledge of her bedroom window, but putting the flower in my mouth I started to squeeze my fingers through the small crack under the plane.
It gave way, at last, not being locked.
I slowly rose it up after a few tugs and darted in, rolling on the ground with my quills as a cushion to make sure I landed swiftly but didn’t cause a stir.
Not much of a sound, besides the tumbling of my feet back to the ground.
I rose up and looked to my side…
Even in the night air, her quills swayed in blissful ignorance of the current situation. Her soft breaths lured me in and back, as my feet began to softly tread forward towards her.
I passed her nightstand, with a picture of us holding up peace-signs and hearts with our fingers and thumbs, just something goofy we did at some park or whatever.
Near it, a vase of the flowers I usually brought her. Some were wilted, yikes. I had kinda hoped I would visit at least enough times so she could switch them out frequently enough to not keep the dead ones.
I flinched at that imagery and thought… she kept the dead ones… when I didn’t replace them fast enough… and visit her often.
I took the flower out of my mouth and gently was about to place it on her nightstand… but stopped.
Time froze then, as my eyes darted up.
I won’t accept this.
I pulled back the flower to me and squinted my eyes, turning away from the picture and bent flowers, balding as their petals lay around the vase’s bottom…
I was getting irritated. Amy was the last, I had to do more than this. It wouldn’t be fair… no matter how much I dread it… I can’t just leave her without her final words…
I lightly pressed the freshly picked flower up to my muzzle… taking in it’s scent and thinking how I was going to do this… efficiently… without her suspecting this was my final farewell…
To lose her… to knowly have her lose me…
How to word this… how to even plan this?
All of that faded when I took another glance at her.
My serious expression was replaced with silent admiring.
She was so loyal. Any man would be crazy not to see her fidelity.
...She’d move on without me…
Find someone to love, Amy? I couldn’t say that, it almost made me gag to think about it. Plus, I’d think about it in hindsight once I’m floating in the nethersphere and realize that was too boldly assuming Amy could find anyone besides her miraculous gift at always locating me.
Be loved, Amy? As if no one does, that’s just cruel. She’s constantly surrounded by people and friends that adore her. No… No, I couldn’t say that.
She’d stir and think something was wrong with either of those lines…
I tapped the flower against my muzzle, further watching her quills sway gently in the blowing breeze, as though comforting her from the heat of the moment she was so innocently unaware of.
‘Alright,’ I finally said, having taken long enough time to figure this out. I hadn’t thought about any of my goodbyes this long because the people were already awake and holding up fronts. No fronts here… Just Amy. Sleeping. Waiting patiently for me to come by and replace a dozen of her dying roses…
Man, this was hard.
I leaned my head back and felt myself wincing at the idea I had come up with. Fool her into thinking she was dreaming? It could work, since Amy often daydreams and would go, ‘Is this a dream?’ quite frequently.
Yeah… That outta do it.
I sighed, this would still be faking it unless…
I twirled the stim of the flower between my two finger tips…
Unless I put the front down.
I looked away… I knew what I was talking about, duh.
But… that would be hard. I’m normally really shy about expressing my feelings, especially when it comes to receiving admiration or… Well, or this.
I lightly kissed the flower for good luck, winked to try and get myself into a romantic mood, but also took a long breath in and harshly let it out in a bit of stubbornness to prepare myself for speaking with my heart over my image…
Her hero… deserves to send himself off after wishing her goodnight.
I moved to her bedside and decided it was best to bend to one knee, at least, she may find it endearing.
Lightly, I teased her awake gently by brushing the rose over her eye, twiddling it before lightly stroking her face like it was a paint brush.
She gave little, soft groans of discomfort, tenderly waking up as I smiled in eagerness to see her again.
I didn’t want to think this was the last time, nor play it out like that.
I wanted, at least this one, to be genuine but disguised as a wishful, whimsical dream she was having. I could… send myself off knowing she was happy.
That was the way I wanted it to be. An ideal.
Amy crying in my arms and me having to hold her till it was time to go was too painful to even bare a thought of!
I didn’t want to waste my time trying to comfort when this wasn’t something that anyone could be comforted on!
Strength… Knuckles spoke of strength?
I tsked, I didn’t want to leave Amy with ‘strength’ or take anyone else’s strength when they needed all the help they could get!
They already mustered everything together to see me off, I wouldn’t bare it again, I would never let Amy bare that either…
Maybe she’d hate me when she fully came too, realized what had happened, and sob for centuries…
I felt something stab at my throat, and I forced myself to swallow after a few failed attempts.
‘Don’t cry, Amy… I want to make that very clear.’ I thought I could do this, but seeing her blink her eyes open made me realize how I really just wanted to flee from this whole ordeal.
I didn’t want to break Amy’s heart. Even knowing she’d cry later was just as equally tormenting than having her do so in front of me now.
I wouldn’t break her heart… but I probably should. I wouldn’t dwell too much on it. Amy’s a big girl now, she’ll have to come around and realize that I’m not coming back-
I couldn’t finish my thoughts as she rubbed her eyes and yawned, looking over to me.
“...Emm… Sonic?”
Now was my last chance… to tell her everything or… at least, not put up the charades anymore.
“Heya.” I whispered, finding a smile I didn’t realize I still had. “Long time no see.”
She looked a bit confused, maybe still half-way through dreamland, but relaxed back and took my hand holding the flower, “Flowers~” she giggled, and suddenly my entire night was made.
“Yeah, just for you.” I played, dangling the flower above her head and watched her drowsily paw at it like a cat would a string. She scrunched her nose up, still snickering as though trying to laugh but her lungs hadn’t woken up that far yet.
“I like it.” she yawned again, and her batting reach grew lesser and lesser until I handed her the flower. “I missed you.” her grip on my hand was so light… I didn’t realize how the touch would send me into such immediate, gripping grief.
My heart was being choked, man, I’m so dramatic! I never knew I could feel this intensely about something like saying goodbye to everyone!
It wasn’t goodbye… If I told myself that, I could do it!
“I-” I felt my voice get constrained and had to take a moment to wipe my own face and get a grip. ‘Keep it together, Sonic… or she’ll know.’ I pep-talked myself and shook my head, “I thought you would.”
“Hehe… You’re still funny.” she let her sluggish finger poke and slide around my face, making me watch her with a puzzled but funny look that continued to keep her laughing.
“Am I still in a dream?”
That… made me so happy.
“Well, depends.” I stated, getting comfortable as I moved from my knee to squatting by her side, inching closer and pulling my hands back to give my heavy head some leverage… more than what I could do for my heart at this point. “What was going on in your dream?”
“Hmm…” she thought a second, almost closing her eyes and drifting back to sleep.
Maybe that was for the best… but…
I kinda didn’t want it to end.
“Amy..?” I lightly called out to her as her eyes twitched slightly and she graced me again with their vision… green… darker than mine, but emerald like the sea below Angel Island… highlighted by it’s chaotic glow.
“We were… having a picnic… in Spagonia, maybe?” she rubbed her eyes, still having the other hand holding mine.
“Ah, I remember that!” I instantly found myself looking up, and my spirits soar. “You were so obsessed with the architecture! You barely ate, you had so much to say about how beautiful it all was.”
“Well, it was..!” she lazily commented, her eyes trying to fight the sleep. I didn’t feel bad about keeping her somewhat awake though… I realized… I needed this. I needed this too.
“Amy… You were beautiful there too.” My words I had never uttered allowed, now made me think back and remember all the times I’ve thought it, but wouldn’t dare speak it out loud. “But you know that, don’t you?” I smiled even wider, seeing her pause a second as though falling back to sleep or in disbelief.
“This is a dream!” she exclaimed and started laughing as though evilly, “Then come to bed. I need a good cuddle…”
I looked away and had to hide my snickering, I never knew Amy could be scandalous! ...scratch that, I never knew she would DREAM of something so ridiculous!
“How about just your hand?” I cradled it with both mine, seeing her fiddle with the flower and press it right up to her nose. I worried it’s strong scent would wake her up… but it didn’t. I tossed her dead-weighted hand around and toyed with her a moment, before lowering my head to it, and letting her own scent trail its way into my memory and feel her warmth from the bed’s covers override my own heated anxiety.
“Amy… I-” I felt my eyes growing sleepy too… All the times I could have just teased her by climbing over the covers and laying beside her… how I wanted that more than ever, to just… take a nap and let each other hold the other… No images, no expectations… just.... Tired. “I missed you too.”
“Hmm?” she was waking up more, I needed to make this quick.
“Heh,” In the moments I had had with her… this was bound to be the best, though bittersweet, of my favorites. “I’m gonna miss you… but I need you to go back to sleep now, finish that wonderful dream of yours… and never stop having it.” I couldn’t tell her to move on. Gosh dang it, I couldn’t!
I was holding her hand, I was letting it rest right up against my face and I- … I-!!!
I was getting to invested in this goodbye.
I speedily let go of her hand and got up, startling her awake.
“H-huh?”
I gripped my fists tightly, “This was a mistake.” I looked away, “I can’t stay here… I can’t say these things anymore.”
“Sonic..?”
“I have to go away now, Amy.” I couldn’t be sweet to her, I’d ruin her!
“What… why?” she started to turn on the bed, “Is this… real?”
A real nightmare. I was gonna die. I knew it. Even if I lived, I would be stuck in another dimension with no way out.
Tails… Even if there was another Tails, Knuckles, and-... And Amy! I would owe it to her but..! But..!
“If I find you again… I won’t hold back anymore, alright?” I didn’t want to make a promise.
“What..? N-no…” She started to sit up on her bed, and I rushed to put the covers back over her, hoping to convince her to go back to bed.
“No other will do… that’s wrong, isn’t it?” I had seen people who looked like my friends in other dimensions… it was foolish of me to think that would suffice. Amy… if she knew what I was saying, she’d probably stomp the ground and cry out that it wouldn’t be fair, that none of those other girls were still her… it would be too cruel. I’ve messed up. I’ve gotta go-!
I felt her suddenly grapple me and turn me onto the bed.
“A-Amy!” I was absolutely startled, I didn’t expect her to be so strong while she was still getting up.
“I’m cold.” she lied, holding me down and tightly. “Don’t go.”
“Amy, I can’t do this. I can’t do this anymore..!” I tried to fight it, but she was absolutely strong, and I even questioned if she was faking being asleep.
But I waved my hand over her eyes and watched as they closed and she was slowly falling back to sleep.
“You make this so challenging.” I huffed, but smiled and chuckled at how even in her sleep, she was a rascal. “I can’t stay…” I lightly put my hand to the side of her face, which she leaned into, and tried to move her head to my chest. “But trust me,... if there is a way… I won’t fail you twice.” I cupped her adorably sleepy but scarily strong head in my hands as she tried to resist it a bit, but was able to move and lower her back to her pillow. Slyly figuring out a way to not disturb her, I pushed the other pillow to have her hold it, and made my way out of her grasp. “Phew…”
Memories of Amy’s antics swarmed me… then Tails… then Knuckles… then everyone…
I ended up falling to my butt and spending a good minute trying to conceal my tears without a sound.
She fell asleep… thank goodness.
I got up and picked up the flower that was slightly crushed from under her back, and placed it back on the counter. I took two petals that had fallen and placed one in her hand… then the other I tucked under my glove and held in the space between my bare palm and glove.
“Don’t wait for me anymore.” I tugged the bottom of my glove down, making sure the petal wouldn’t accidentally fall out and that it was secure. I gave one final, good look over to her…
“...But dream of me… always…”
-A New Day-
I woke up immediately when I groggily read the text from Tails that Sonic was badly injured, but somehow, used the last of the Chaos Energy inside his body to locate the Master Emerald across dimensions, and jumped!
“Jumped!? W-woah-woah!” I fell out of my bed and crashed hard on my chin, but adjusting to the pain, I kept scrolling through the updates.
He was Chaos Controlled directly from the Master Emerald with the help of a confused Knuckles who reacted at once and used his own influence over the Master Emerald to channel it’s power to wherever Sonic was reaching from.
He apparently came back, half-alive…
My eyes shook in terror, “Oh, Sonic!” I felt my heart leap out of my chest as I quickly wrote back as I spoke the words aloud. “Where is he!? I’ll house him. Tell Vanilla and Cream to bring everything to my house! Food, medicine, the works! We won’t lose him again!”
My eyes were still red from countless, sleepless nights of waiting for him to come through my window and surprise me again. I really had thought I imagined it… but I woke up with a petal from a new flower in my hand, and looked to see the one from my hallucinations that night on my nightstand.
When the others told me what he had done, I bashed the trees down and ranted with a mighty thunder in my step and tone how they should have believed in him more, should have given him hope, and the strength he needed wasn’t their undying love for him but their support in that he could do the impossible!
I kept telling myself, ‘Of course, he’ll come back!’ but my anger was from knowing that when he was trying to take my hand and say goodbye… he couldn’t.
He needed me! Oh, how my Sonic needed me to pull him in and shout out to the universe that he was going to be alright, that he was going to return, and that none of this was necessary!
I should have woken up and seen more clearly! I should have… I was the only one who could have contested their naysaying and cheered him up. I would have… I would have gotten so many words out that would be completely incoherent due to my rushing tears…
They brought him to me right away, and I was upset I couldn’t reach them in time to have helped moved him, but they insisted I stay put.
When I saw him… on a white gurney and barely able to stay awake… looking rough and completely done for… I felt my whole being cry out that he would make it… but my whole being slid down the door’s frame at just seeing him look so badly… so drained of life...
He was out for days… but he had been gone for so long…
I was replacing his bandages, starting with the cooling rag, I was just gonna wipe him down from the sweat. I put him in my own bed and was sleeping by the side of the bed with my head to his side at night… sleeping in my chair, nursing him back to health.
He didn’t make much noise expect for awful twitches that would make me think he was dying… it scared me so much… but I held his hand as he would groan in his sleep, as though trying to move and wake up … but couldn’t.
Couldn’t… shouldn’t… wouldn’t…
Could, would, should…
These words were infuriating me lately.
I dipped the cool rag into the water on my nightstand, which I had used to replace the vase with flowers, but kept the last flower in a see-through box, letting it sit on my windowsill as I waited through endless nights for him…
My eyes must have made me look like a raccoon rather than a hedgehog by now… but as I wiped them and patted his darling, but hurt face… I finally saw him breath out and roll his head towards my touch.
My eyes widened, was this his last breath or first real moments of consciousness?
“S-…” I felt my voice break against a dam of emotions. “Sonic?” Then flood my mouth, “Sonic!?” the sound vibrated to every cell, sparking me to life as I jolted up and hung over him. “Sonic, can you hear me!?”
His eyes were blurred, but he opened them, looking around as though unable to see me.
“Sonic! Sonic, you’re alive! You’re here!” I said that to assure him of him, not for myself.
I embraced him with restrained joy, trying to not hurt him further, as I heard him cough and try and reach his hand up.
I immediately pulled back and helped him up, hearing him hiss at the pain but fighting it.
“S-sorry! I’ll let you rest more-” I was gonna lower him back down but he put a hand out to my shoulder, as though telling me not too.
He adjusted himself to leaning back and I put pillows in his way to give him some comfort as he was somewhat up now.
“How are you feeling? You okay?” That was stupid to ask, but I was so worried… one peep, one little, measly sound would drown out all this panicking… anything!
He coughed again, and looked around.
Seeing where he was, his eyes widened and he looked back to me, as though stunned.
“You’re home… Sonic, you’re…” I covered my mouth, bursting into tears and dropping to my knees, holding myself up with my other hand gripping the bed.
I turned my hand around to show him the palm of my hand, tucked into my gold bracelet was his petal he had left in my hand, ripped and torn, crinkled and decaying… I never let it go.
He smiled and let out a puff of relief and--what I assume to be--joy as he scratched weakly at his own glove.
“Y-you want it off..?” I was speaking through tears, and blinked several times to see what I was doing, and wiping my tears away before lifting his glove up and seeing…
Not even tarnished. It was as though the petal in the palm of his hand was eternal, as though the dimension was only a blink in time, but it was still a vibrant rosy color, pinkish hue, but leaning more towards the red.
I dipped my head to his hand and just cried, kissing the palm and the petal as I knew what it meant.
“I missed you too.” I finally broke my voice and wailed in my tears.
I knew he hated goodbyes and crying…
But I knew how much he loved ‘hellos’.
(resisted Italics this time lol  Better with or without them? -meaning both Bold, Underlined, etc.-)
(ALSO! I remembered I was gonna do kissing but I was so wrapped and enthralled in the drama that I forgot o-o; Eh, makes it more in-character XD)

Matching Crowns
It had been four years since Hiyori was in the city inhabited by a wishful thinking God and his ever devoted shinki. She was only there to meet up with her childhood friends seeing that they had to beg her up and down for weeks to come and enjoy a weekend with them. The only thing that held her back was the possibility of running into him. So when she finally broke down and decided to come back home, the memories of her teenage years flooded back in like a tsunami the moment she stepped off that train. The temptation to visit her once favorite shrines tugged at the back of her mind like a fishing rod every time she passed them. The bait was ever so tempting but her pride was stronger.
That is until she heard his voice, smelled her favorite scent. Something that was a mix of cherry blossoms and honey.
-More under the cut-
The bustling of the city wasn’t enough to keep her eyes from finding him in a second. He was passing out business cards on the street to unkind people who passed him by without a hint of attention. But then again, she knew a lot of those people couldn’t see or hear him as he shouted his name into the unending crowd. She wanted to reach out and grab a card out of his hands for the sake of his happiness but she had to remind herself that they hadn’t talked to each other in years. Knowing well that he was the one that vanished from her life.
She readjusted the bag on her shoulder and turned away from her once friend; holding back the need to have her fate twined with his once again.
One Day Later
The bar was packed and Hiyori wasn’t much of a drinker but couldn’t resist her friends' smiling faces and pleading eyes when they asked her to go to their favorite hang out. It was dark and lit by colored ambient light like any other place. A mix of young and old people filled the booths and bar stools. It was loud but what bar wasn’t on a Saturday night? The three friends found an empty table in the middle of all the bustle and patiently waited to be served their first drink.
It wasn’t long before the round of drinks kept coming with each emptied glass. As the liquor started to calm her down, creating a light and bubbly atmosphere, Hiyori began to enjoy herself and forgot all about a certain boyish God.
The group of friends laughed over their high school adventures and talked about the new people they’ve come across in college. The two of them kept bugging her about any potential suitors but she waved them off each time, attempting to make them believe that school was more important to her. Which wasn’t entirely a lie but not entirely true either.
Hiyori got up out of her seat to use the restroom and swayed her way down the dimly lit hall. She almost ran into a woman leaving the bathroom but was quickly able to avoid her only to tumble into someone close behind. She laughed and apologized without looking back and slipped into the restroom before the door closed. She could have sworn she heard her name whispered through the crack.
When she returned to the main part of the bar, she scouted out the area for her table. It was getting later into the evening which dissipated the huge crowds. What was left were the small groups of friends catching up, couples sharing secrets over drinks, businessmen being shaken awake by the bartenders, and the few regulars sipping their way through their favorite liquor. Eventually, people’s faces began to blur in with one another and the room started to spin. It wasn’t until a lock of dark violet hair passing her by that made her eyes go into focus again.
She really didn’t know he would be there. He wasn’t known to go to bars, not while she knew him. He was more into stealing beer out of her father’s or Daikoku’s fridge.
But the sight of him made the movement of everyone else stop. His name played on her tongue like the strong alcohol she had downed not even ten minutes ago. She wouldn’t let it spill but the temptation was a strong tug on her heart. Its beat sped up with each step she took towards him. It had been three years. Three years of silence and unanswered messages. Three years of desire and grief.
She grabbed onto his wrist without a care in the world and when his heavenly blue eyes met hers she felt that tight bond weaving through her fingertips again. She held on tightly to that feeling and spoke before he could even get a word out.
“I’m Hiyori Iki, and I was wondering if you’d like to have a drink with me.”
His laughter rang throughout the bar and into her heart. That was the smile she missed so much.
“Nice to meet you, Iki-san,” he wiped tears from the corners of his eyes, “Sorry about that but I’ve never had a girl, save for you, be so bold to flirt with me.”
She felt her face heat up and tried to convince herself that it was only the alcohol, “I’m very upfront about what I want.”
“Only when you’re drunk, right?
“Yes, ah wait,” what was she saying?
“As you should be,” he reached for her hand and pulled it up to his lips, leaving a brushed kiss on her knuckles, “please, call me Yato.”
Slightly annoyed that he knew how to appease her, with her lips quivering of the thought of those lips on hers instead, she smiled and took her hand away. Did he believe that she didn’t remember him or was he playing along?
“Nice to meet you, Yato.”
A blush crept across his face before turning away from her, “to the bar, shall we?”
She followed behind him and nodded towards her friends as she passed by their table. They seemed as shocked as she was that she was getting a drink with some random stranger. She noticed how he hadn’t changed at all, that none of her teenage years was a lie and she really was best friends with a God and his shinki. He asked her what she wanted to drink as they approached the bar. She told him to surprise her. He grinned that conniving grin and turned back to the bartender, ordering each of them a mixed drink she’d never heard of before.
“So what brings you here, Iki-san?” Yato passed her a glass and motioned for her to take a seat.
She shook her head, “call me Hiyori.” They sat down at a secluded booth near the back end of the bar. She watched as he stirred the contents with his finger before licking it clean. She tried her best not to stare but her eyes couldn’t help but gravitate towards his lips. She remembered them fleetingly, how soft and desperate they were the night before they last saw each other. She lowered her head, staring at her untouched drink. “I was meeting with my childhood friends. We happened to pass by this bar and decided to get a few drinks.”
Yato took a swig of his drink and grinned slyly, “happened to pass by, huh?”
The hairs on the back of her neck rose at his accusatory voice. It’s not like she knew he would be here but she could see how it would seem suspicious. She thought she hid it pretty well, acting like these past few years had wiped her memory clean of any evidence that he was real. She knew better than that, she could never get him off her mind. No matter how many boys glanced her way or tried to catch her after classes ended. She feared getting involved with anyone else would make her memory start to fade. And he was a memory she never wanted to forget.
“Ami and Yama said this is their favorite bar so they invited me to come check it out,” she admitted, taking a hesitant sip of her drink. It was a bit strong but nothing she couldn’t handle.
“Ah, and where are these friends of yours?”
Hiyori turned her head to find her friends sitting at the table she left not too long ago. They happened to both be staring at her, of course. They were always nosey when it came to Hiyori’s boy endeavors. She hesitantly waved at them as they returned more triumphant, attention-grabbing waves. Yama winked while Ami had a thumbs up. God, why were they like this?
She turned around to Yato’s big smile, a bit too overconfident for her liking.
“Looks like they’re cheering you on.”
Hiyori took another nervous sip of her drink, “they like to embarrass me.”
Yato laughed, making her wish more and more that she could just tell him the truth. That she in fact remembered him to the core. That she just wanted to reach across the table, grab the collar of his shirt and bring those idiotic lips to hers. She pushed the feeling deep down to the pit of her stomach.
“So what do you do, Hiyori?”
She set her drink down and continued with her facade, “well I’m studying medicine. My family has their own practice, a hospital actually, and I’ve always wanted to carry on the family trade.”
“Always?”
She stared at the ice slowly melting in her drink, diluting the alcohol. “I think at one point, when I was in high school, I didn’t really know what I wanted.” She noticed the silence between them carried on a little longer than she would have liked. She looked up from her drink and found a curious expression on his face. Almost hurt but uncertain.
“I guess most high school students are like that, huh?”
She couldn’t help but notice the wrinkles on his brow, the unspoken words on his lips.
“I guess so,” she was desperate to change the subject, “and you? What do you do.”
He shrugged and finished his drink, “I’m a man of many trades. I do what I can to make a living to support my family.”
“Sounds like your heart is in the right place,” she thought about Yukine and Nora and how well Yato got them accustomed to each other over the course of two years. How they slowly developed into this small, weird-found family. She took another sip, she hoped they were still happy.
“I wouldn’t be who I am without them, without-“
Hiyori raised her brows at him, wondering where his words were leading. He had covered his mouth to stop them from overflowing something not meant for her ears. She took a final long swig of her drink and tilted her head.
“What are they like? You’re family?”
Yato slowly dropped his hand from his mouth, a forced smile playing on his lips. He reached for his drink, “it’s gonna take a couple more of these to talk about my loved ones, Hiyori.”
For some reason that made her blush and she opted out to get up and order them more drinks from the bar. The rational thinking was completely wiped from her mind and she blamed the booze.
2 hours later
Her jaw started to hurt from the laughter and never-ending smile he continued to put on her face. She had missed his quirkiness and outright stupidity but she didn’t truly realize it until it hurt to smile. Over and over again.
He talked about his “kid” and how smart he was, how he studied every day even though he really didn’t need to. He praised his sister for overcoming her fears and guilt. He talked about the scuffles he’d get in with a certain glasses-wearing pervert and his long-haired skanky woman. He laughed about a certain clumsy girl with her rigid but loving partner. He talked about the family he found in them and how much he enjoyed their everyday adventures.
She couldn’t help but notice he never mentioned missing a certain girl who so terribly missed him. She put it to the back of her mind and continued to listen to his heartwarming and idiotic stories. It was as if she never left his side.
The snow was getting heavier as they trudged along the city's edge, walking over a bridge that seemed to be very familiar. He stumbled a bit due to a rock hidden among the blanketed snow or possibly the multiple drinks he downed before they left the bar and her friends behind. Luckily for her, the cold was able to sober her up just enough to keep an attentive eye on her friend.
“Be careful, Yato,” she said as she grabbed his arm to steady his balance. He turned his head and gave his usual silly lopsided grin. Oh, he was definitely drunk.
“Hiyori, you’re very kind, you know that?”
She felt a sudden feeling of dread course through her body. She didn’t feel kind, not at all. Not when she’d been lying to him this whole time. Until she reminded herself that without the lies, she wouldn’t be very kind to him at all. Not when he just up and left-
He slipped and fell to his back; sprawled out in the snow, he started laughing. She crouched next to him and wondered what could ever be so funny. Her eyes traveled to his lips, admiring his smile, brighter than a full moon on a clear night. To his eyes, bright pools of hope, joy, and love.
“Are you okay?” She asked as she reached out to help him back on his drunken feet.
He turned his head to the side to look at her, his blue eyes pleading for something she didn’t quite understand. His hand clasped around hers and he held onto it, making no sign of getting up from the snow-dusted bridge. He slowly brought her hand to his cheek and rested it there. Her hand rushed with heat along with her own cheeks. He chuckled and closed his eyes at her soft touch.
“I think this is the happiest I’ve been in years.”
“Years?” She played along, trying to not let her heart burst out of her chest for feeling the same way. “You just talked about how much you loved your friends and family.”
He slowly blinked at her, “I was a lot happier when my best friend was at my side.”
She tried her hardest not to reveal anything from her expression but she was sure she let a beat of sorrow slip, “What happened with them?”
“How long are you staying in town?” He asked, dismissing her question.
She smiled softly and shook her head, “I’ll be returning to school tomorrow afternoon.”
His smile faltered for a split second, “Ever so fleeting, Hiyori Iki.”
“As is life.”
He laughed, deep from his chest and his heart, her hand still resting against his warming cheek. He closed his eyes and breathed out a heavy sigh, his breath visible in the cold, late-night air. “Will we meet again?”
Hiyori felt like a jolt of lightning struck her, she stood up quickly, ripping her hand from his, and began to walk away from the drunken God. Her mind was whirling with never-ending thoughts, his words from so long ago hammering her brain. We shall meet again.
How horrible of him, she thought. The anger and sadness she felt that day when she realized he had stopped visiting her. Tears tried to break free but her desperate lie kept the mask on her face, hiding so desperately what she didn’t want him to find out.
She didn’t hear his steadfast footsteps and almost fell back onto him as he grabbed her wrist. She stopped, her feet almost crossing the line of the wooden bridge. She begged herself to keep on going, to forget this ever happened, forget the stupidity of her own decision of approaching him again tonight. She had let the alcohol get the best of her, after three years of forcing herself to stray from the person she loved most in this world.
But his hand was so warm, wrapped around her wrist, his fingers soft and tender as the night those very same hands caressed the back of her neck, kissing her with all the love he had stored away in his heart. She remembered the way he murmured I love you’s against her lips as she nervously chuckled, repeating it back to him.
“Please don’t go, Hiyori,” he pleaded.
She continued to stare down at her own two feet, wondering if he’d continue to come after her if she pulled away again. He said something under his breath, too low for her to hear and she forced herself to look back at him. His eyes sorrowful and lost, a look of desperation splayed across his face.
“What did you say?” She asked, scared to hear his answer.
“I’ve missed you.”
Four Years Ago
The party had quieted down by evening. Kofuku was passed out drunk under the table while Daikoku took care to clean up the leftover food and drinks without waking her. Yukine and Nora sat on the back porch in lightweight coats, watching the sunset behind the clouds. Hiyori sat at the table looking at her and Kofuku’s unfinished game of Onigiri roulette. She was happy for the small graduation party her friends had thrown for her and even happier that Yato was the one to organize it. After missing her birthday the first time around, he always made sure to never forget it or other important events again.
She reminisced a few hours back when she walked in and everyone cheered “Congratulations'' to her. Food was hot and ready to be eaten, a few graduation gifts in the corner of the room begging to be ripped open. They ate, played games, and re-lived events that had long come and gone.
She smiled as her fingertips brushed against the notebook Yukine had gotten for her. “Don’t Give Up,” was sprawled across the top. He told her that as long as she’d write her class notes in there, she would never fail a test. A blessing from a God’s Guidepost in the form of a lucky charm.
Hiyori looked up at Daikoku as he lifted Kofuku in his arms, staring lovingly at his Goddess before realizing he was being watched. She almost felt jealous, wishing she had someone to look at her like that.
He cleared his throat. “I’m gonna take the missus to bed, why don’t you go see what Yato is doing?”
She wondered if he could tell she was thinking about him, “where did he go?”
He shrugged, “he probably slunk back to his room after realizing he’s the only one who didn’t get you a present.”
Hiyori laughed, “I don’t need him sulking like he did when he found out about my birthday that first year,” she got up and dusted off her skirt, “guess I’ll go see what he’s up to.”
She watched as he took away Kofuku before heading up the stairs. Odd metallic noises could be heard from the hallway but she couldn’t quite figure out what it was. She made her way to the top and opened the doorway to his room.
She found him there, sitting at the small desk against the wall, working on something. She quietly made her way over to him, hoping not to alert him, and stopped as she was close enough to peer over his shoulder. She couldn’t see what he was working on.
“So this is where you disappeared to?”
Startled, Yato put his hands over something on the table and looked up at her, “H-hiyori! What are you doing here?”
She laughed, “Well I was wondering where the organizer of my party went and had to come looking,” she tilted her head, “what are you working on?”
He looked back to his hands, “um well, I’m kinda working on,” he paused before looking back to her, “a gift for you.”
“For me?” Her voice hitched up with anticipation, “what is it?”
“Well, it’s not done yet. I meant to finish it up last night but Yukine and I got a job and it was very tiring you know,” he looked at her with desperate eyes, “I got back home, immediately crashed on the floor and didn’t have time so I thought…” he trailed off. She could tell he felt bad for not getting her gift done in time for the party but it made her heart flutter knowing he was making something special for her. She sat down cross-legged and turned her back to his, slightly leaning against him.
“Can I keep you company while you finish it? I promise I won’t look.” She listened as he readjusted his position to uncover her unfinished gift.
“That would be nice,” he admitted. He started working away again, his back shifting against hers once in a while. It was warm, he felt warm. She brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, resting her head on top.
“Thank you for the party, Yato. I had a lot of fun.”
“O-of course. You graduated High School! It only happens once in life you know.”
She laughed, “I do have to say though, I can’t believe you left me to play Onigiri Roulette alone with Kofuku.”
“I’ve played way too many times, I don’t need a mouth full of toothpaste again, no thanks.”
Hiyori straightened up and turned just enough to see the side of his smiling face, “still, I expected you to be there but you crawled away without even a word.”
He bit his lip, his eye-catching hers, “I’m sorry,  I just really wanted to give you this.”
Hiyori ever so casually placed her chin on his shoulder, their faces mere inches apart, “this gift must be extra special then.” Without realizing it she took in his calming and sweet scent. How she wished it was her own.
His face flushed and he turned away from her eyes, “y-you promised you wouldn’t look.”
She peeled away and readjusted herself, pressing her back into his once again, “sorry, I couldn’t help myself.”
He mumbled something under his breath but continued to work. The silence pressed on and anticipation slowly scratched at her heart.
“Have you heard back from any colleges yet?”
Her heart sank with the deep weight of a folded-up letter in her skirt pocket. She had planned on telling him. She really did. But every day it seemed harder and harder. Being accepted to a prestigious medicine school that was hours away from her best friend was a hard pill to swallow. She had no idea when she’d find the time to visit him and she didn’t want him to forget his duties, put them on the sideline for her. With him on the way to becoming a God of Fortune, she couldn’t let him give that up for her. He also had his responsibility to be there for Yukine more than her. She could never deny that. Not after everything that they had been through.
She just had to tell him, grab the letter out of her pocket and show him the good news-
“Not yet, but I’m pretty positive I’ll get into the place I want,” she hated lying.
“Definitely! You’re so smart, I know you’ll do great.”
She smiled at his compliment. She kind of knew it herself but hearing it from the person you like is a completely different story.
“Okay, It’s all done,” his voice was chipper, “Hiyori, close your eyes, please.”
She did. She felt him shift behind her, felt the brush of his knees against her lower back as he knelt down behind her. Then, ever so cautiously, his hands collected her long hair to move over her right shoulder. His fingertips brushed against the nape of her neck and a small shiver ran through her back, more aware of his fleeting touch. She felt nothing for a few breaths until something light and small tapped the center of her upper chest. Instinctively she moved her hand to check it out but Yato’s own hand caught hers before she could.
“Not yet, just one more second,” he released her hand and she put it back into her lap while he went back to work. She tried her best to keep her mind off his timid and floating touches but every nerve in her body wanted to focus solely on where his hands were.
“Okay, you can open your eyes now,” he said as his hands disappeared from her senses, “Congrats on graduating, Hiyori.”
When she opened her eyes and looked down at the golden necklace hanging from her neck she almost gasped. She picked up the charm between two fingers and admired the handiwork made by the hands of a god. By her friend, Yato.
It was a crown, small and golden. One that matched his own. May our fates intertwine engraved neatly on the back. She fought the tears building up behind her eyes as she turned on him. His face was flushed, an embarrassed smile playing on his lips.
“I love it.” She said, still holding onto the small crown in her hand.
“I’m glad. I hope you don’t think it’s weird I just thought-“ he stopped as she rested her hand on his chest, her fingertips brushing against the crown embroidered on his tracksuit.
She smiled, earnestly as ever, “we match.” She kept her eyes level with the crown, too shy to make eye contact, too embarrassed to see what kind of expression he would make next.
To her surprise, he reached for the very hand placed on his chest and rested it on top of hers. She felt his heartbeat start to pick up a fast and steady tempo. What was this feeling that pulsated under her palm? What was his heart trying to say? Surely he didn’t feel the same...
She hesitantly looked up and met his burning eyes. Her own heart started to fluctuate as she noticed the heavy blush across his cheeks and at the tip of his ears.
Oh.
“Does it make you happy that it matches?”
“Y-yeah. It’s like I always have a part of you with me,” she bit her tongue from saying anything more.
She felt his hair brush against her cheek as he fell forward a bit. His breath inching closer to her ear.
“May I say something?” He asked, barely above a whisper.
She nodded her head, unable to get an unshaken word past her lips.
He rested his forehead on her shoulder, breathing an unsteady breath down her collarbone. His heart wasn’t letting up now nor anytime soon.
“I’ve been wanting to tell you this for a very long time but I just didn’t know when the right time would be.” With his head back up, he took her hand in his before bringing it to his lips, mimicking that first night at Capybara Land. The hair on the back of her neck rose with the certainty that her heart was in sync if not faster than his now. He smiled nervously but lovingly all the same behind their hands, “Forgive me if I’m out of line but, Hiyori...”
She sucked in a hesitant breath. No, he couldn’t, there’s no way he-
“I love you,” he let out a relieved sigh, “I love you and it's something I’ve been sure of for a long time now,” he briefly kissed her shaking fingers before letting the hold on her go, returning her hand to his chest where she once felt his heart's beating. It fluttered beneath her hand like a scared little bird.
She was scared too. She parted her lips to reply but closed them soon after. She wanted to say so many things with the first thing being I love you too . She wondered if it was okay to love him at all, a God.
He smiled nervously at her silence and chuckled. “You don’t need to reply now or even ever if you don’t want to. I’ll understand if you don’t want to-“ he stopped at the feeling of her hand trailing its way up past his heart, to the side of his neck to his cheek. She felt the heat beneath it, his true feelings. She met his eyes and returned a nervous smile.
“Actually, I uh,” she bit her bottom lip before parting them once more, “I feel the same.”
His mouth was agape and she had to suppress a laugh at his shocked expression.
“R-really? Are you sure you don’t mean something else?”
“Yato, be more confident in yourself. I’ve told you this multiple times.”
“Yeah but I just want to make sure it's the same way I feel,” he grumbled.
She sighed and swallowed her nervousness. “Yato, I love you,” she tilted her head, “I’ve known for quite a while myself.”
He smiled, “when was this?”
Hiyori pursed her lips, “when you left to find your father and I came after you. Kazuma stopped me and told me that a God can never love a human.”
It felt good to get it off her chest but she immediately had to talk Yato out of beating up his former shinki.
“It’s fine, right? He was wrong,” she reassured him.
He reached for both her hands and brought them towards his lips, he kissed them and looked at her with unwavering eyes. “He was very wrong. I’ve never loved anything more in my life than you.”
She swallowed hard as her whole body heated up at his words. She watched as he lowered her hands to fit in the space between them. He inched closer, his eyelashes fluttering.
“Hiyori, can I try something new?”
“W-what?” She had an idea as she saw him quickly lick his lips. Oh man was the room getting hotter or was it the verge of springtime flowing in from the window?
All of a sudden his hand was caressing her warm cheek, her embarrassment reflected upon them with a shade of pink.
“I think you know,” he chuckled nervously.
“I d-don’t unless you clearly s-say it.”
“May I kiss you?” It came out as a soft and careful question and it warmed her heart that he asked. He knew what heartbreak and suffering the last one caused her. She squeezed his other hand that was still holding onto hers. She couldn’t get any words out so instead she nodded.
First, she felt his hair tickle her forehead and the side of her cheek. Next was the warmth of his exhaled breath before taking one in. Last was his hesitant lips hovering over hers before she pushed herself to steal away the last remaining space between them.
She didn’t know the full extent of what a real kiss could feel like. She didn’t know it would make her stomach flutter, her fingertips tingle, her heart burst into a tiny flame. His lips were soft and warm and so gentle. He began to pull her in more and more with each sparing breath they took. When his hands took roost on her hips it felt like nothing she’s ever experienced before. It felt electrifying. It felt right.
She had to keep telling herself that this wasn’t sudden in the slightest. It wasn’t as if they hadn’t seen this coming. Not when soon after defeating his father they started to confide in each other more and more. It wasn’t as if after that first accidental handhold under the kotatsu, that his hands just so happened to entangle themselves with hers on occasion. He would never take a hold of her hand after walking her back to her house, kissing the inside of her palm before their goodnight farewells. She definitely didn’t find excuses to give him hug after hug. As if she wanted to feel the warmth and closeness of his body, to get a secret whiff of her favorite scent. She wouldn’t even admit the fact of him kissing her forehead a total of eight times.
And no she certainly was not keeping count, but she would admit that most of them were when their lips had almost met each other’s, but one would reel back in realization. He’d give her a kiss above her brow for forgiveness.
But now he was murmuring I love you over and over again against her heated lips. She had her shaky hands wrapped around his neck, pulling him in closer and closer like an uncontrollable need. She had wanted this for so long; since the moment he appeared to her with his broken shrine in hand but instead of looking at the damage her eyes couldn’t stray away from those lips.
The early spring was cold but Hiyori wasn’t lacking in warmth. Yato helped with that.
“Shouldn’t you be heading home soon?” He said in a soft, warm voice, his fingers brushing hair behind her ear.
“Probably,” was all that she could muster. He laughed as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. He sat behind her now, with enough room between his legs for her to sit perfectly, her back against his chest. She liked the feeling of his heart pounding behind her, his breath tickling the side of her neck, his hand reaching for hers. She grabbed on and squeezed, realizing she really didn’t want to go home.
“I’ll walk you home if you want,” he suggested.
“Are you trying to get rid of me?” She teased.
“Believe me, Hiyori, I don’t want you to leave, not ever. But I also don’t want your family to panic when they realize you aren’t home.”
A hum escaped her lips. He was right but there was one thing she had to do before she left.
Yato seemed surprised as she turned around on her knees to fish something out of her skirt pocket. His eyes never left the rummaging of her hands even as they pulled out a folded piece of paper. He looked up at her and cocked his head as she tried to hand it to him.
“Go ahead, read it,” she said in a soft voice.
He did and it didn’t take him long to realize what it meant, well partly. He crashed into her, almost knocking her back onto the floor. He held onto her tightly and an excited laugh rang in her ear.
“I knew you’d make it in, Hiyori! I just knew!”
She hugged him back and buried her face in the crook of his neck. She was happy but the pit in her stomach was still there.
“You’re going to be amazing! Dr. Iki. Doesn’t that sound perfect?”
She pulled back and smiled lightly, “I’m excited,” she admitted, “but it’s far away, Yato.”
His happy face only faltered for a split second before he was able to put it back on. “I’ll come visit you every day.”
Hiyori laughed, “I’d love that, but please don’t forget about your first priority. Yukine will always need you.”
“Of course, I’ll be there whenever you want. I’m just a wish away.”
“Is that your new slogan?”
He placed a kiss on her forehead, “only for you, Hiyori.”
And he was right. He visited every day she wished him to. In between classes when quick kisses were stolen in empty hallways, on weekends when she had caught up on school work, and nights when the winter chill was just too much for her to bear alone. Some days they’d get lost in meaningless conversations or games while others they’d bask in silence and kisses.
On occasion Yukine would tag along, the three of them doing everything but also nothing in particular. It was like nothing really changed.
Not until he caught her with a failed test result.
“Are you sure you’re doing okay, Hiyori? Am I coming here too often?”
She jumped up at the question and stared down at him, lying next to her on her dorm room bed, “I’m doing fine! I just,” she paused trying to come up with an excuse, she sighed when she couldn’t, “forgot about it.”
He reached up and cupped her cheek, “remember when you said Yukine is my main priority? School is yours, don’t neglect it because of me.”
“I promise, I won’t.”
It was the only promise she managed to let slip from her hands. The last night they spent together was full of affection and words of love. He had gently taken her crown necklace that she wore every day between his two fingers and smiled at her.
“I’ll always love you, Hiyori.”
Present Day
Hiyori gripped onto the end of her sleeve like it was a lifeline. He had known all this time and hadn't said a word to her. He had known she was lying this whole time, acting as if she had forgotten him.
"You knew?"
"Of course I knew.”
“Did you follow me today, to the bar?”
His eyes flicked away and he shrugged.
“What was your plan? To avoid me the whole time I was there and hope I didn’t see you? Did you plan to approach me at all?”
“I don’t know I-“
"Why haven't you said anything? Why did you play along?  All these years..."
He scratched the back of his head. “You were failing your classes, Hiyori. I saw your scores on essays and exams. I was a distraction, I’m not that naive to realize it wasn’t good to have me around all the time.”
“You didn’t say a word to me. You just stopped responding to me. Do you know what I went through?”
He watched the snowfall melt into the pond below them, below the bridge. “I do. Do you think I could go years without checking up on you?”
She clenched her teeth, “of course you did, you’re a high-class stalker.”
He chuckled and she almost had the nerve to push him over the bridge into the cold water below.
“Then why,” she pleaded, “if you knew how broken I was after you left without a single word, why did you never tell me why you left.”
“Because,” he paused, meeting her angry gaze,  “I knew if I went to see you again, I wouldn’t be able to leave a second time.”
She ripped her hand from his and walked off the bridge. She wanted to yell at him, to call him selfish for all that he has done. But she couldn’t deny that he was right. After he disappeared, her grades skyrocketed, her focus shifting back to schoolwork. It was something to keep her mind off him. She also knew if he did come back to visit her, she would have found a way to make him stay.
“Do you know how hard it was to keep away from you, Hiyori? Every day I had to convince myself to not approach you, no matter how desperate I was.” She heard him sigh. “It took all my willpower to not let you see me again after that night.”
She stopped and spun around on him. "That night…"
“I knew it would be the last, that’s why I told you-”
“Shut up.”
He reached out for her, “Hiyori-“
“I said shut up!” Her hands were balled into fists against her side, her eyes never straying from the snow-covered ground.
He dropped his outstretched hand, hiding them deep within his pockets. “I’m sorry. I realize now I probably should have approached the situation differently.”
“It was inconsiderate.”
“I know.”
“Selfish and so stupid.” She couldn’t hold back her tears any longer and she flinched when his hand touched her cheek. She looked at him timidly, letting his thumb wipe the tears from her eyes.
“I’m an ass, that’s for sure,” he admitted.
“Most idiotic God for a boyfriend.”
“Hiyori, please-”
Her lips met his again, this time drowned by the saltiness of her tears. He accepted it with eagerness and pulled her in tight. There was sadness and desperateness behind her kiss. Something so raw and powerful that it almost made him falter at the knees.
She pulled away to only have him pull her in again. Keeping her lips and body hostage to his demand. She didn’t mind it but the longer this went on the harder it would be for her to walk away.
When they did, his arm lingered on her shoulder and down to her fingertips. They tingled and shook at the thought of not being able to see him again for God knows how long. They met eyes and she smiled first, her makeup running down her face.
“Will you come see me again?” She was almost afraid to ask.
He closed the distance once more, leaving a feathered kiss on her brow before tapping her forehead with his.
“Only if you keep your grades up. How many more years do you have until I start calling you Dr. Iki?”
She laughed and sniffled, her feelings all over the place. “Too many.” Looking up to his eyes she noticed he was staring down at her chest, at her necklace. “I wear it every day, you know.”
“I know, I’d sometimes watch you put it on.”
She shoved him playfully and he put up his hands in defense, “please forgive me my beautiful and ever so devoted girlfriend.”
“You’re gonna have to kiss up to me better than that for all the years you left me alone.”
He grinned, “Shall I start with your lips?”
“Hmm,” she hummed, “how about you start by walking me back to my hotel room?”
He grabbed her hand, “as you wish.”

So, what is Sonic X: Advanced?
Sonic X: Advanced is an AU Sonic fan project, taking place in a rewritten universe of the hit Sonic anime of the early 2000s, Sonic X, almost a year after the events of Forces. In this universe, the timeline was made to follow more closely to the games in the franchise, particularly the events slightly before Cream was captured in Episode 1, to the group not returning to their home-world until after the events of Unleashed, and so on. “Why focus on the events after Forces and not any of the events that preluded it?”, you may ask; Well, there’s a few reasons: 1. I wanted to get the point on the events currently going on in the story instead of retelling the past. (It’d be pretty boring to retell Season 1 and 2 with a couple of additions. Besides, it would be a nice surprise for you to see some of the changes.) 2. Some of those past events will be covered in a few of the project’s “episodes” as the series goes on. In fact, half of the first episode will be dedicated to explaining past events from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Cream’s perspectives, more importantly, events that personally impacted them as characters and have caused them to mature (Sonic, Amy, Tails) or have changed their personalities/outlook of the world slightly (Also Sonic, Knuckles, Cream). As for the third reason, the series was called “Sonic X”, “X” in a series title in Japan normally means “crossover”, and if you recall Sonic and company ended up on Earth, away from their world, thanks to a Chaos Control accident. In a similar fashion, SX:A will have a crossover of sorts, however it won’t be them returning to Earth just yet... It’s another group of colorful characters ending up in their world. If you’ve seen the artwork I’ve been posting/have posted, you know exactly WHO Sonic and company are crossing over with. I was a big fan of the Mario & Sonic sprite animations project as a young teen and even as an adult, I still have a love for both of these franchises, so I thought I could put my creative abilities to the test, and create an AU project where I could express my passion for both series. I hope you’ll be willing to tune in whenever I get the first part out. If there’s any questions you have, don’t be afraid to ask me! I got an ask tab on my page if you have anything you want answered, given if it’s appropriate or not. Though, I will answer a few basic questions here in this post: Q: How much has passed time as passed from Sonic’s first battle with Eggman (Sonic 1) to the events after Forces? A: About 7 years. In this universe, Sonic was 17 at the time of his encounter with The Doctor. That would put Sonic at 24 years old at this current point of time, with Tails at 17, Knuckles at 26, Amy at 22, and Cream at 16.  Q: Who are the main protagonists? A: Simple, from the Sonic side of things, we have Sonic himself, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Cream. From the Mario side; Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi. Knuckles and Yoshi won’t be featured as frequently to parallel Sonic X’s style of story-telling, so for the most part, the story will on focused on Team Advanced and the Super Mario Brothers.  Q: Will other Sonic characters appear in this project? A: Yes, other Sonic characters will appear as supporting cast for certain episodes, ranging from Shadow and Rouge, to Tangle and Jewel, and many more. Of course, there will also be some Mario characters to balance things out, but not many to keep things confined and hopefully easy to understand.  Q: Will Dr. Eggman still be the main villain? A: Yes...most of the time though; Because we have a certain turtle king that would like to steal the spotlight. Q: Who are Eggman’s lackies; Decoe and Bocoe, or Orbot and Cubot? A: Decoe and Bocoe are still Eggman’s robotic assistances, like in Sonic X. Orbot and Cubot serve under somebody else... (insert Ian Flynn’s known smile joke here) Q: Which incarnations of the Mario Brothers based off of? A: It’s a mix between Camelot/Nintendo’s version and AlphaDream’s take on the Mario Bros. So, prepare to swing your arms from side to side, because this adventure will be one Superstar Saga if you love the RPGs. Q: How did Mario end up on Sonic’s world? A: ...You’ll find out soon enough. :) And that’s about it for the basic questions! Again, if you have any more questions, don’t be afraid to ask me on my page. Until then, take care and I’ll see you next time!

The Fanfictioner
Prologue
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Amy Rose secretly writes fanfiction out of the not so famous 'Sonic Boom' show in which she and her friends are the main actors. Everything was fine, filming the show and then writing. However, everything changed when the famous actor, Shadow the Hedgehog, showed up to participate in the show. Just like Amy, Shadow hides a secret. He loves to read fanfiction but will never admit that out loud. Shadow one day stumbles upon Amy's fanfiction and without knowing, they develop a friendly bond over comments, likes and messages of support. On work, Shadow and Amy have a normal co-worker relationship that will never develop more than that.   They fight in real life but are best-friends online. Will they ever find out each other's identities? And if they do, will things change between them?
.
.
.
When the romantic movie ended, Amy just couldn't stop thinking about the great acting in 'The Forest of Dreams.' Her friends and she had decided to get together for a well deserve movie night after battling Eggman for the whole week. With the hopes that he wouldn't burst into Hedgehog Village as he usually does. "It's a shame that we ended up seeing that indie movie ..." Sonic said as he opened the door to exit the movie theater. "I wanted to see Chao in Space!" "Yeah, too bad they ran out of tickets. Critics say that it is one of the best movies in the last decade." Tails looked around his group of friends, making sure that no one was missing. Nonetheless, he noticed that his pink friend was awfully quiet, looking at the ground. "Everything alright Amy?" As if his words didn't reach her ears, Amy kept looking down at the ground, silent. This time, Sonic noticed Amy's unusual mannerism and decided to investigate. "Amy?" Sonic's voice was all that she needed to get back to reality. The rosette hedgehog snapped her head and met emerald eyes. "Yes?" "You are very quiet ... That's not like you." Sonic said. Team Sonic had already begun their journey to go back home. It was late at night but the village's light poles gave them enough illumination to know their path. Walking through the village, they encountered a few Mobians still out, doing their thing and helping the atmosphere to be more vivid. "Sorry, I was just thinking about the movie ... The acting was amazing, wasn't it?" The pink one had a soft smile placed on her face, showing her excitement. "The actors were so young too, they look around our age ... 17 and they are so talented already." "I have to admit that batgirl was very beautiful." Knuckles let out an enamored sigh. "Yes and her acting was admirable," Amy said. "But the one that got my interest was that black hedgehog ... He indeed will become a great actor soon." Without the pink hedgehog knowing, Sonic rolled his eyes in annoyance. There was only one hedgehog she could fangirl about and that was him. "He was alright, I could do better," Sonic said. "I mean he was in an indie movie that's no big deal. I am sure we could all do it ... Right Sticks?" Sonic looked over at his badger friend who was way too quiet. Such an unusual thing of her. "Don't look at me, I fell asleep during the whole movie," Sticks said. "But if we ever become actors, I would love to be in Chao in Space." The team had come to a sudden stop, they had reached the end of the village. This is where they would part ways to their own perspective homes. "Good luck with that, I read that the casting process to get actors for Chao in Space is extremely difficult," Tails said as he faced his friends. "Two years ago, the directors conducted castings all over the world .. Out of thousands of participants only three main actors made it." "Ha, see Ames! There's no way that black hedgehog with average acting skills would be in a movie like Chao in Space." The blue hedgehog looked at the pink one and for the first time in a long time, he saw that Amy was utterly offended. For someone that she doesn't even know nonetheless. "I see great potential in him!" Amy said, her voice raises a little. "I bet he will become a great actor! I dare to say he will be in Chao In Space 2!"
. . . When the pink one got home, she immediately showered, got into her pajamas, and laid on her comfortable bed with her laptop on her lap. She began to browse more things on the 'The Forest of Dreams.' She found interesting things. For example, the name of the beautiful bat protagonist was Rouge the Bat. And then the black hedgehog's name appeared ... Shadow the Hedgehog. He was the co-protagonist and in all honesty, it was been a while since Amy felt such admiration for someone. Could you blame her? Shadow was an excellent actor. His profound words as he confessed his undying love to the protagonist were just ... So pure. It wasn't only the dialogue but the way he delivered the message. More than anything, Amy felt her heart skip a beat at each word he said. As if his confession was meant for her.
His words were strong and too real ... way too real. As if Shadow the Hedgehog was actually in love with Rouge the Bat.
And so this began.
Amy of course knew of the many wonders of the internet. One of them were fandoms and within fandoms were content creators.
The pink one wasn't unaware that many content creators wrote fanfiction. After all, Team Sonic had its own base of fans. They were the heroes of the village and Mobius nonetheless, always defending it against Eggman and other villains. So, it was natural that stories about them would be written. She read many of them especially the SonAmy ones, her guilty pleasure.
Although she had never written a fanfiction, Amy felt different about this one. In 'The Forest of Dreams' the ending was a cliffhanger. Amy desired more than anything than to provide a good conclusive ending. She had written before but only for school projects like essays and creative writing but never like this ... Never for a fandom.
Was it strange? That she wanted to see more of the exceptional romantic development between Rouge and Shadow?
Amy didn't care, it was just for fun. What was the harm in that?
And so ... Amy began to write.
.
.
.
"Shadow, what are you doing?"
On the other side of the island, a tiny wooden house in the middle of the forest emitted enough light to be seen in the night.
"Reading a story."
The black hedgehog responded, not leaving his eyesight away from his phone.
"Since when do you read?"
"Someone has to do it in this house."
The black hedgehog who was comfortably sitting on his sofa was greeted suddenly by the warmness of a beautiful blue-eyed bat.
"Our movie was released a few weeks ago ... Do you think we did well?" Rouge asked as she tried to get a peek of Shadow's phone but she was slow and Shadow was fast to close the internet tab.
"We won't know until next week when our producer calls us ... Hopefully, we get enough money to repair Omega." Shadow said as he looked over to the dining table where robot parts laid scatter across the wooden table. Shadow frowned as he saw Omega's head, immobile and without life. He was still inside there but Omega won't be the way he was until reparations were made.
"We really messed up on the last mission ... Didn't we?"
Rouge's voice was soft and she showed such concern that it made the black hedgehog's heart shrink a bit. Shadow let out a heavy sigh, he hated to see the white bat like that and although he would often disagree, there was no option but to affirm her assumption this time.
"We did ... That's why we are never going to steal again ... Never." Shadow said as he felt Rouge leaning her head on his shoulder and he didn't mind the act at all.
"... I wanted to steal a Chaos Emerald."
The black hedgehog let out a small smirk as he placed his arm around Rouge's shoulders. "I promise that one day I'll give you a Chaos Emerald and I'll give Omega one of those lie detectors he wants."
"Hopefully, this acting thing comes out alright ... I mean all of those years acting to survive and steal must pay off in this movie we made."
Small memories crossed the white bat's mind. She remembers all of those times as a child that she and Shadow acted on street plays to get a few coins to eat something. More recent memories of them acting like business people, politicians, and regular folks also popped in her mind. All of that just so their stealing missions could go smoothly and unnoticed.
How Rouge, Shadow, and Omega met was a very interesting story, one that will be told at another time.
"Let's hope for the best."
A few minutes passed in which Shadow and Rouge shared it in complete silence. The dark hedgehog looked over his shoulder in which he found Rouge completely asleep. With his phone still on his hand, he opened once again the previous internet tab he had before.
It was just a matter of time before his curiosity overtook him. As far as the internet said, 'The Forest of Dreams' was an excellent film even if it was an independent movie. Even art and small stories were already created in honor of the film.
Eventually, he found himself on a page called fanxfiction.com. An internet page where writers could write whatever they wanted online and others could interact with these authors by liking, sharing, and commenting on their work.
Shadow scrolled through the webpage and a story caught his interest. The synopsis was captivating , the tale was about an alternative ending to the movie's original ending.
The Forest of Dreams: A Love Story.
By A Rose Without Thorns
And so ... Shadow began to read.

Alfred gets drunk
Alfred always had a drink or two when visiting in Europe. To him it wasn't a big deal, he couldn't drink back home but did socially while visiting the other nations. He never had gotten drunk before, having dealt with Arthur made him aware of how much he had to drink and at what point he should stop.
"You like him don't you mon ami?" Francis interrupted the American's train of thought. He had gone out to the pub with Matthew, Francis, Antonio, Lovino, and Gilbert.
Alfred blanked having been caught off guard with the question. If anything he had been complaining all evening about how the Brit constantly got onto him at their meetings. No matter how small or inconvenient the matter was; it could be something serious as interrupting someone speaking and nodding off in matters that didn't concern him, or somethings small as clicking his pen.
"You should call him out on paying more attention to you than the meeting." Gilbert smirked. The tone of his voice marked the sarcasm but he was actually right.
"For real though!" Alfred agreed.
"You didn't answer Francis." His own brother spoke up. Noting how he blatantly ignored the Frenchman.
"Me? Like him? How could I like someone who constantly nitpicks me like that." Alfred huffed. Taking a large gulp of the drink Gilbert ordered him. He was his third drink of the night. He would have to stop soon. But in the moment he felt like no one was on his side with the matter at hand. He did like the Brit but understood the constant bickering for dislike and discontent. He thought Arthur hated him and was pushing him away. He didn't understand any of it.
"Oh hello, mind if I join?"
Alfred groaned. "Speak of the devil" he said in a hushed tone to Francis who was closest to him.
Francis did his best not to laugh and invited the englishman to join them. To which Alfred glared at him.
"Thanks, I just finished setting up tomorrow's presentation and left the conference room." Arthur said in a matter-of-fact tone, sliding into the seat beside Alfred.
"Well I think-" Alfred began.
"That we were just ordering another round! Care for a beer?!" Gilbert exclaimed, slapping England on the shoulder. Jostling him against Alfred as they were now crammed around the table.
"No, I probably shouldn't-" Alfred began again but the Prussian insisted. Saying he'd pay for this round. Alfred bit his lip. Who was he to turn down a free drink, wasn't it considered rude mannerism for some. He wasn't sure and instead kept quiet.
"Can you scoot over, you're practically on top of me!" Arthur shoved himself away from Alfred.
"There's no room!" Alfred was already fuming with anger from the meeting. This couldn't go too well.
A waitress brought the next round over, Alfred quickly drank it down as he was trying hardest to hold his tongue.
"Chug chug chug!" Gilbert encouraged him.
As Alfred slammed the mug down on the table someone had pushed another in front of him. He picked it up and downed it and a third one. Six beers in the matter of an hour. Alfred could feel the effects. "Ugh. I'm done for real guys. No more-"
"Giving in already?" Alfred looked around for the voice, surprised to find it was Arthur himself encouraging him. "Come now, drink up." He said pushing his ale towards the American. "Come to think of it, have you ever been drunk before?"
"N-nope." Alfred said, slowly grabbing the bottle of Ale. He'd never had this before, before bringing it to his lips he could already smell the alcohol. Sipping it curiously someone tipped the bottle up, Alfred choked but whoever was holding the bottle didn't let up. A chorus of "chug chug chug" was going around. He could feel the burning in his throat and the heat rising to his cheeks. Once the bottle had been emptied the gathering crowd cheered for him. Taking a breather, the crowd quickly lost interest from the group. It didn't take Alfred long to get over that choked feeling and soon he started ordering shots. He had lost count and was past the point of caring. Instead he felt really good and wanted to keep going.
.
.
.
"Alfred, love, come on. Everyone else is leaving or already has." Arthur dragged the drunk American away from the dance floor where he'd been stumbling about in attempt to dance.
"Na-uh" he grunted, gesturing to all the strangers around him.
"No, I meant our friends, your brother. Don't forget we have to be up early again in the morning." Arthur pleaded. Taking Alfred by the hand and rubbing his hand across Alfred's back as he coaxed him towards the door.
Afred stumbled along with him bumping and leaning into Arthur. "You smell nice!" Alfred shouted. Pressing his face against the man, inhaling deeply. "You always smell nice, I love it."
"Mhm." Arthur hummed a reply as he righted Alfred on his feet. Steadying him at arm's length as he hailed for a taxi.
Once inside a taxi Alfred was pressed against Arthur again. Twirling the other's tie around and gently pulling on it. "You don't believe me? I swear! I wouldn't lie to you!"
"I-I believe you Alfred. Please stop." Arthur pulled his tie away. Alfred was so cute and the redness in his cheeks was making it hard for Arthur to resist him.
"W-would you ever lie to me, ARthUr?" Alfred's voice was becoming rough from all the singing and shouting he had done at the pub.
"No, I wouldn't-" Arthur was cut off.
"Then why yooo hate meh?"
"W-what!? I-I don't hate you..." Arthur's brows knit together in confusion. Alfred laughed and poked the spot where Arthur's brows were knit.
"YoUR brOWS" Alfred giggled and laid his head against Arthur's chest. "I love you. I love you so much! I wish you didn't hate me." Alfred wrapped his arms around Arthur's middle.
Arthur tensed from all the touching but he couldn't speak or think to push Alfred away. "You love me?" He couldn't seem to process what was being said.
"SO damn MYUCH" Alfred's voice cracked as he cursed causing it to come out quiter.
"T-then why do you think I hate you?" Arthur still wasn't processing.
"Because you so mean! Nag nag nag. You no let me make you smile. I try so hard." Alfred was making less sense as they neared the hotel.
Arthur didn't speak as he felt his heart break. He cared so much for Alfred but it was coming off as hatred?? He paid for the cab and dragged Alfred out of the cab, which wasn't too hard as Alfred was trying to smack Arthur's ass and fell onto the pavement.
"Owww" Alfred wined. Being pulled to his feet again he leaned most of his weight onto Arthur who was keeping him steady.
Reaching Alfred's room Arthur started checking Alfred's pant pockets for the key, Alfred however took the touching as being shown the attention he was craving, and pushed Arthur against the door and kissed him.
The kiss was sloppy as Alfred was so uncoordinated and missed Arthur's mouth. Arthur didn't reciprocate with the drunk American even as he found Arthur's lips. Arthur quickly found the key and pushed Alfred away. Just before Alfred got the idea to use tongue. Alfred was still all over the brit as he fumbled to unlock the door and get inside. Once the door was open Arthur pushed Alfred to the bed and let him fall onto the bed.
"God, you gorgeous. So sexzy." Alfred sat up, reaching for Arthur who pulled away from his reach. Alfred pouted, poking his bottom lip as much as he could. "You do hate me! You just gonna bring me here and leave aren't you!?" Alfred twisted away from Arthur who just rolled his eyes and sat down in the desk chair that was provided in each room.
"I don't hate you Alfred." He sighed looking defeated.
Alfred kept his back to him, curling in on himself and refusing to move. Arthur watched him like he was studying him. It amazed the brit how openly affectionate drunk!Alfred was. It made sense he guessed- Alfred always did seem to be rather reserved or plain bad at it when it came to any form of affection or flirtation. So alcohol gave him the courage to act as loving as he wanted? Arthur questioned and started thinking of Alfred's hippie phase and thought it sounded accurate.
It didn't take long for Alfred to get bored and start moving again though. He was quickly in Arthur's lap, curling up against him. His arms wrapped around the other's neck and he was sitting bridal style in Arthur's lap.
"If you not love me why you still here?" He asked like it was nothing, his wide blue eyes finally seemed to be focusing again.
"Alfred, I told you. I do love you. And I'm here, to make sure you are ok." He sighed, his own heartache causing him to be sad. Cautiously, he wrapped an arm around Alfred, supporting his upper body and removing his hands from behind his neck.
Alfred buried his face against the crook of Arthur's neck, adjusting himself into a more upright position. And taking Arthur's hand into his own. Playing with the other's fingers, kissing his knuckles, or simply holding onto his hand. "Don't leave me." He said quietly.
Arthur didn't respond but instead allowed himself to rest his own chin atop Alfred's head. Kissing the blond hair once he heard snoring. "I love you too."
********
The next day Alfred found himself in the bed and Arthur fast asleep in the desk chair. He was fully clothed and his hands were folded over his stomach. Alfred looked himself over, his shirt and jacket were elsewhere but he could see his suit pants folded neatly at the foot of the bed. He was still wearing his underwear and yesterday's undershirt. He doesn't know how he got there or how england ended up being there but he was glad for it. Even though his head was pounding he couldn't seem to tear away from the view as morning light seeped in, falling delicately over the handsome brit. 'If only he liked me the way I liked him' was all Alfred could think.

Wedding Disaster!
Another crappy story I made long ago. Original is on Wattpad under Lyra_ze_hedgie. Both part 1 and part 2 is on this.
 ALSO HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amy= 19 years old
Sonic= 21 years old
Lyra 18 1/2 years old
Blaze= 19 years old
Cream= 18 years old
Rouge= 19 years old
Maria= 19 years old
Silver= 21 years old
Knuckles= 21 1/2 years old
Shadow= 22 years old
Tails= 20 years old
It was 7 in the morning, and the Sonic Team girls were wide awake. As you can see in your brain, the girls are at Amy's house, sneaking through the door. They were about to wake up Amy and get her ready.
Cream, Amy's self proclaimed little sister, did the honors of waking the sleeping beauty. "Amy, wake up! You got to get ready for the happiest day of your life!" Cream squealed with excitement.
"I'm gonna give birth..?" Amy said dozily. She was 1/2 asleep, if you were wondering. Rouge and Maria were holding their chests from trying not to snort and laugh.
"Out of the way everyone! This is sure to wake Rosy Posy up!" Lyra yelled as she carried a 3 gallon full bucket into Amy's bedroom. She sprinkled a few drops onto Amelia's face. She still isn't up. She spills a little on to her face. Amy got up immediately.
"I'm up, let's get ready! Lyra water the plants with that, and make me look like a goddess, girls!" Lyra opened Amy's window and dumped the water close enough to the plants. The girls all dragged Amy to Rouge's mansion because her wedding dress was there. They had her take a shower, and while Amy was doing that, the girls took all the make-up out.
"This is going to be amazing! Sonic and Amy getting married! Amy will be my sister-in-law! Girls, she has to look perfect!" Lyra said. Lyra is Sonic's little sister.
"Amy, are you done yet?" Maria asked from outside the bathroom door.
"Yes!" A muffled voice answered from the other side of the door.
The girls all shoved Amy into a chair in front of Lyra's vanity table, and began to look at Amy and thought of what to do.
"Oh shoot! I forgot the curling iron! My 20 others are broken." Rouge realized.
"It's alright, Rouge. Besides, I have fire powers, so watch what I can do. Oh wait, first dry Amy's hair." Cream quickly did that with the blow dryer. Blaze wrapped sections of Amy's quills around her finger and warmed it up. She let go, and made luscious curls. "There, perfect. Amy, you look like an angel."
"She'll look more like an angel once she wears her wedding dress!" Lyra said, while bringing in the wedding dress. (It was a long white gown with red petals all over the bottom hem and along the chest.
"Oh Lyra, it's beautiful." Amy said with tears in her eyes.
"Don't cry, Amy, or else you'll ruin your makeup!" Cream yelled.
"Okay, okay!"
Amy put on her dress, and it fit perfectly on her. It made her look like a princess. While admiring her wedding dress, Rouge and Lyra put some eyeliner and some blush on.
"Perfect! Now let's go, or we'll be 5 minutes late to being early." Lyra said.
"You sound like Spongebob, Hun." Rouge stated.
"Point is, we should be out now!" Blaze said, in an impatient tone. "I want to see some SonAmy smooching!" Amy blushed in embarrassment.
"Amelia! Now I can't tell if you're blushing, or if that's your blush making you look pink on the muzzle!" Cream said. Everyone laughed.
As the girls went out, something totally unexpected happened...
Hey, it's chapter 2. (Cream's POV)
Oh no. Eggbots. They're going to ruin Amy's wedding day, and her dress! Everyone immediately gets into battle stance, and takes out their weapons, or show their powers. Me? I stayed in front of Amy to guard her. Lyra, who's still learning to use her scythe, has formed a somewhat big shield around Amy and the girls. I was scared, was Amy going to be kidnapped by Eggman? That bastard! He's in his 70's or something, and he's still trying to kill Sonic! Then, Lyra moved a little, she could only protect me and Amy. The girls started to fight the crab-bots, and bee bots, whatever they're called. I heard some short battle cries. "Cream! Run Amy over to the limo!!!" Maria yells.
"Okay!" I take the hem at the back of Amy's dress, and raise it up, so it doesn't get dirty. I didn't really care about my dress getting messed up, it's Amy's that mattered. We suddenly see all the girls get thrown back. Oh, no... Amy hates when any of her friends get attacked, so in a snap, her piko-piko hammer comes out of nowhere, and Amy makes pissed off look at the robots. I don't want to interfere, but this is her wedding, I don't want her beautiful image get ruined! "Amy! Don't! You'll ruin your dress!" I shouted, but she ignored me.
Oh no.
It's the hammer of doom! Amy's hammer evolved and she was swearing like there was no tomorrow. Hey, I'd be doing the same thing if it were my wedding. Amy suddenly smashed all the bots, and strutted her way to the limo, all the girls watching her with shocked faces. She didn't even ruin anything! We all ran to the car, me going first. Not to brag, but I'm the maid of honor!!! Everyone expected Rouge, but I was chosen. I'm the most like her sister! Suddenly, Maria kicked the driver out of his seat.
"We are supposed to be at the altar by now!" Maria stepped on the peddle, not caring whether she got a ticket or not. Within minutes we were here. Lyra checked to see if everyone was there, and they were. First the ring bearer, and flower girl, which were Sonia's kids, Cecilia and Carlos. Then came in Amy, arm in arm with Shadow, since Amy had no father figure in her life. Behind her was the maid of honor. Which happens to be me. Then, came in Rouge, Sonia, Blaze, and Maria. Lyra was going to be the person that recited the vow things. On the side were Sonic's groomsmen, Shadow, Silver, Knuckles, and Manic. The best man was my boyfriend, Tails. We lined up beside Amy, and watched everything.
"How come the girls look like they were ambushed?" Tails asked.
"Amy looks like an angel."
"And in a few minutes she'll be my sister in law!"
"Dearly beloved. We are gathered here today on this momentous occasion, to witness the joining together of Sonic Ogilvie Maurice the Hedgehog, and Amelia Lynn Merica Rosette. Now, before we begin, is there anyone who rejects this proposal?" We looked around. "Thank Chaos, no one. Sonic, do you take Amelia to be your wife, through life and sickness, and til death do you part?" Lyra looked at Sonic, who was smiling, a few tears falling down his face.
"I do." Sonic responded. Amy was crying heavily, and so was I, it was beautiful!
"And Amy, do you take Sonic to be your lawfully wedded husband, to protect you, to love you, through life and sickness, and til death do you part?" Lyra looked in Amy's direction.
"I do."
"A good marriage is created. The little things in your life will become the big things. You will never be too old to hold hands, never be too old to say good night or for a gentle kiss.
A good marriage is remembering to say "I love you" on a regular basis. It is never going to sleep angry. It is standing together, on each other’s strength and support.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget. It is providing an atmosphere in which each of you can grow.
It is finding room for the fruits of the spirit; which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
You will have this kind of marriage if you continue to Chaos as the source of your romance, love, and affection. Now, say your vows." Sonic started first.
"Ames," everyone 'aww's when he said 'Ames.' "When I first saved you from Metal Sonic, I was surprised to see someone as brave and courageous as you. You were as cute as a button, but fierce with that hammer, and I wouldn't marry anyone else. You are the only thing that keeps me happy. You were the only person I noticed, the only person who could turn me on. You were different from those other fan-girls. You were always by my side, even if I lost a battle, you still loved me, even if I was a werehog!" He chuckled. "And since I met you, every time you talked to me, my heart beat in my chest, and only you made me feel like that. I love you Ames." Amy was crying heavily. She sobbed, and gave him a quick hug, before beginning. (Lmao so uncharacteristic)
"Sonikku, before we met, I had a thing for tarot cards, it would say we will meet, it would say you are my perfect soulmate. I believed all of that, in fact, it's one of the things that got us together. And when I got kidnapped by Metal Sonic unexpectedly, you saved me. You were exactly everything I imagined. You were brave, courageous, loyal, smart, strong, loving, and experienced, if you know what I mean." Insert a dirty smirk and wink amen. "You're also very confident, and knew when pride got in your way. I wanted to always be beside you, to love you, to make you happy, to stay with you for all eternity. And now you made my dreams come true. And you have my near all to yourself, until our futures children are born. I love Sonikku."
"With the power bestowed upon Chaos, I pronounce you Husband and Wife. You may kiss the bride." Lyra said. Sonic picked Amy up and spun her around before kissing her gently. She kissed him back, hands never leaving each other.
"Hey, Sonic?"
"Yeah?"
"I caught you."
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER. DE END.

Blaine Colt → Jensen Ackles  → Hunter
→ Basic Information
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Birthday: April 21st
Zodiac Sign: Taurus
Religion: Irreligion
→ His Personality Blaine has a unique personality. As the head of the Chicago Colt family, Blaine lets off an intimidating air of dominance and control. He is extremely loyal to his family. He is highly intelligent, logical, clever, and a brilliant strategist; he can anticipate and preempt enemy plans. While he can be very intimidating, dangerous, and brutal, he is also a strangely charismatic man. Blaine can be very casual and calm when speaking to an ally but he has a temper that can frighten just about anybody; he is known for being a violent, sadistic, and murderous sociopath. Blaine is not one to make jokes or goof around. He is always true to himself and is a very honest and dependable man; it is not really in his nature to lie, even if his honesty is brutal. Blaine often shows little empathy and remorse, especially towards those who are supernaturals. He takes being a hunter seriously.
Blaine is typically ruthless, emotionless, and aggressive when he is hunting. Unlike many other hunters throughout the world, Blaine does not underestimate his enemies, he knows full well how dangerous and advanced supernaturals are. Hunting is a task which he approaches enthusiastically, making him the most merciless of the Colt family. Blaine is willing to kill children, women and elderly supernaturals. He can snap the necks of infants without thinking of his own children or torture a mated pair without comparing it to his wife and sympathizing. Blaine is known for his unorthodox methods for gaining information; most will likely trigger even the nastiest of souls. Despite these traits, Blaine is very likable and well-disposed when not on the hunt, and he values the safety of his family and innocent civilians above all else, even his own life. Blaine has a soft spot for children and teens in his family; more so his own. He is exceptionally good with them, very sympathetic and able to talk to them with ease. He is always willing to attend school or aftercare games and tournaments when he is not away on a hunt, volunteering to top off fluids in their vehicles before a long trip or simply leading them an ear to talk to and occasionally giving his input.
Blaine has extensive knowledge of who is who in Chicago and remains stern with his family to keep on terms with rival hunters and supernaturals in the surrounding area. Blaine leads the Colt far more liberally than his father had done. Blaine is very tolerant and farsighted, having no problems with people of other colors or sexual orientation as long as it is not rubbed in his face. His marriage with Imani Anderson, a part of a predominantly African American Hunter Family, has opened doors for his once alienated and hated family within the hunter community. Blaine knows of the name their family has built up for themselves, however, the connection with the Anderson family has also opened a gateway to the local human shifters. Blaine is wondering if their family should also adopt some of the Anderson ways.
→ His Personal Facts
Occupation: Head of Colt Family - Chicago
Scars: Multiple on Knuckles and Hands
Tattoos: A Basquiat Crown on Wrist (The 3 Colt Kings - Colin, Blaine & Bryce)
Two Likes: Restorations and Hunting
Two Dislikes: Dentists and Disorder
Two Fears: Allergic Reactions and Unfaithfulness
Two Hobbies: Home Improvement and Collector (Cars)
Three Positive Traits: Assertive, Disciplined, Diligent
Three Negative Traits: Over Protective, Aggressive, Controlling
→ His Connections Parent Names:
Bryce Colt (Father): Bryce did his best taking care of two boys after their mom was killed. Blaine always had a close relationship with his father. They are able to grab drinks together, go hunting together or simply watch the game on the big screen. Bryce taught Blaine that hunting is stressful enough without bringing it home to the family. Blaine shares in this philosophy with his wife and kids.
Regina Colt (Mother): Regina was killed during a hunt when Blaine was still young. He does not remember much about her but misses her very much.
Brittney Colt (Step-Mother): Brittney and Blaine started off on the wrong foot and it was never fixed. She came in trying to replace and erase his mom.
Sibling Names:
Colin Colt (Little Brother): The Colt brothers are quite formidable separately but they are a force to be reckoned with together. They shared a brotherly bond that Blaine thought could never be broken but lately the brothers have been at odds.
Elle Colt (Little Sister): Blaine was happy when he found out he was getting a sister. No matter how much she cried nor her spitting up on him as a baby, Blaine loved her. Elle running out on her engagement with the Stone Family has caused a lot of problems for Blaine. He says he wishes she would have just taken one for the team but he cares enough about his little sister not to be too harsh with her.
Alice Colt (Half-Sister): Blaine is closest with Alice out of all his half siblings. She used to follow him around as a kid and it shows. Alice is a perfect blend of their father and himself. Blaine tends to be harder on Alice because she has potential but they are two peas in a pot behind closed doors.
Casper Colt (Half-Brother): Blaine has a low tolerance when it comes to Casper. He reminds Blaine too much of Brittney. Blaine believes Casper will get someone killed if he becomes a hunter and his arrogant attitude has no place in the field.
Amy Colt (Half-Sister): Amy has always been closer to Elle. Blaine wanted to hurt Amy when she was young but their father pulled him aside and had the importance of family talk with him. Blaine was blaming Amy for the death of his mother and Amy’s mom, Brittney, not only replacing her but giving their dad another baby. Blaine quickly got over his hatred, ashamed of the way he acted.
Children Names:
Bryson Colt (Son): Bryson is showing a lot of promise. At the age of 6, Bryson can recite random species traits better than the ‘Baby Shark’ song. Bryson reminds Blaine of his relationship with his dad. Bryson is Blaine’s little helper.
Wesson Colt (Son): Wesson a hellion at the simple age of 4 and a half. Blaine swears Wesson is more Anderson than Colt and naming him after a gun was a horrible idea. Wesson keeps Blaine on his toes and Blaine knows Wesson is going to be one hell of a hunter when he is older and properly trained.
Orion Colt (Son): Akins twin brother. Blaine and Imani were trying one more time for a girl but were surprised to find out they were having twin boys. Blaine is grateful for his son and they brighten up his day. Orion has just turned 2 years old.
Akins Colt (Son): Orion twin brother. Blaine and Imani were trying one more time for a girl but were surprised to find out they were having twin boys. Blaine is grateful for his son and they brighten up his day. Akins has just turned 2 years old.
Romantic Connections:
Imani Colt nee Anderson (Wife): Imani was Blaine’s first real romantic connection. It was easier for him to sleep around instead of dating seriously until the day he agreed to do a joint hunt with the Anderson Hunter Family. Imani was not at all what he expected and she dominated their hunt; Blaine started to actively pursue her afterwards. They dated for a long period before deciding to get married.
Platonic Connections:
Hailey Colt (Cousin): Blaine is at a loss for what to do with Hailey. He knows being assigned at Lilly’s is not a desirable permanent position, especially with her skills, but there isn’t much for her to do for the family. He’s asked Elle to see about having her train with Amy, or possibly as a hacker.
Iris Colt (Cousin): Iris was the perfect solution when James Stone reached out to form an alliance again. He is grateful she is going along with it, and that she has made a good impression on the Stones.
Megan Colt (Cousin): Megan is closer to Blaine age than Iris and Hailey. Their relationship is strong and Blaine sees her as another sister. As Blaine took on more responsibilities, their relationship did slow down, Megan started hanging out more with Amy and Elle but Blaine still considers her a close friend.
D.W Colt (Sister-In-Law): Blaine is starting to doubt D.W. after Imani, Amy, and Alice all brought their concerns to him. They rushed her vetting process because she was the first person that Colin had fallen for in a long time. He doesn’t want to offend Colin, or damage their relationship anymore, but all of Colin’s defenses for her are becoming thinner as the months drag on. He is considering having someone less connected to the Chicago family investigate.
Ebony Anderson (Sister-In-Law): Blaine like Ebony. Ebony encouraged Imani to start dating Blaine and has always been supportive of their relationship.
Grant Anderson (Father-In-Law): Blaine’s marriage to Imani was not arranged. He was surprised when Grant seemed to accept him as his new son-in-law. They often attend basketball games together or attend car or gun shows together.
Trevon Anderson (Friend): Trevon is Imani’s cousin and seems to have the same views as Blaine’s family insteads of his own, the Andersons.
Thea Stone (Friend): Blaine knew Thea before she married into the Colt family. She could have done better and they joke about it all the times
Alexus Anderson (Hunter Ally): Blaine has known Alexus for most of his life.
Churchill Darling (Reluctant Ally): Blaine works alongside the human shifters second in command when his family needs information or the law cannot touch certain supernaturals; including when clan leaders refuse to serve justice.
Arthur Milligan (Acquaintance): Blaine met D.W friend on a few occasions. They have not really talked and Blaine does not remember much about him.
Lillian Pickford (Acquaintance): Blaine met D.W friend on a few occasions. They have not really talked and Blaine does not remember much about her.
Hostile Connections:
James Stone (Hate): Blaine has never liked James Stone. They have always bumped heads. Blaine had even tried to partner up with James on a hunt when they were both junior hunters and James nearly got them both killed. He has tried not to hold a grudge against the Stone family that his ancestors once had but James had made it nearly impossible. Blaine ignores him as much as he can now.
Eric Lasiter (Dislike): Eric believes Imani screwed him out of a deal. Blaine has wanted to set him straight for a while but Imani swears she will handle it and Blaine has backed off. His dislike for the warlock however has not lessened.
Paul Stone (Unsure): Paul was chosen to forge an alliance with the Stone Hunter Family. He was the only available and suitable Stone male for Iris. Blaine knows that they have hit it off but Paul has yet made it a point to get to know their side of the family while Iris has been sharing pleasantries with the Stones.
Shelton Mills (Unknown): Blaine is aware of the rat shifters in Chicago. He is also aware that they give hunters a wide berth compared to the rats activity reported around other supernaturals. It has taken his family years to get him the name of the lead rat in charge of watching over his family and hunters in general. Blaine is unsure what his next move is with this information besides calling out the name next time he sees a rat watching him from across the street.
Dan Prior (Unsure): Everyone knows the story of Dan Prior. The human that said no and was changed anyways as punishment. Blaine’s father tried to work Dan cases with the Stone Family multiple times and had gotten nowhere. Blaine was 8 years old when it happened and still to this day, he has kept an eye on Dan.

Bryson is Blaine's little helper.
Grant Anderson (Father-In-Law): Blaine's marriage to Imani was not arranged. He was surprised when Grant seemed to accept him as his new son-in-law. They often attend basketball games together or attend car or gun shows together.
Trevon Anderson (Friend): Trevon is Imani's cousin and seems to have the same views as Blaine’s family insteads of his own, the Andersons.

Episode 6, The Seven Chaos Princes’ Crowns
Fire was burning all around. It was inescapable. The distant sound of rushing water was not of comfort however. Waves flooded the scene and there were no means of staying afloat. It became impossible to breathe. The shadow of a man was letting out hearty laughs all the while.
“Past…Future… ”
The words cut through the chaotic event. They were clear and soothing, but there was an air of concern in the voice.
“The plant for creation, the plant for destruction... They’re waiting for the controllers.”
A light began shining. It wasn’t clear where it came from but it was blinding. Suddenly there was no more drowning, no more inferno.
“The servers are the seven chaos…”
Amy’s eyes slowly creaked open as a ray of sunlight had slipped between the closed shades of the window and landed right upon her face. She rolled out of the sun’s piercing brightness and let out an accompanying grown. “Five more minutes…” She mumbled mindlessly.
After a decent bit, Amy moseyed out from the bedroom and joined Sonic who was already in the kitchen stirring up some breakfast. “Sleep well?”
Amy let out a yawn. “Yeah…” She said without much conviction.
“Oh come on Ames, don’t lie to me. You were tossing and turning all night!” He quickly flipped the contents of the skillet before placing it back down on the stove. He moved over to the table where Amy was sitting and slid a cup of coffee in front of her. “Tell me, what’s up. More dreams?”
“Yeah…” It seems that was as much of a response she was capable of at the moment, at least until she woke up more.
The two discussed them more over breakfast. Amy told Sonic how Chuck comforted her about these dreams of hers and she made sure to remember as much as she could in case anything from them came to fruition. She even wrote some of them down and started her own dream journal. The one from the night prior for sure being noted as the new voice was surely telling some important information about ‘creation’ and ‘destruction.’
The world outside was moist after a light rain during the early morning. The sun was out but clouds occasionally obscured it and gave the air a cool brisk feel to it. The two walked around the wood surrounding the main village. The faint sound of waves mixed with the rustling of leaves in the wind. The two came across a ring of mushrooms and made sure to go around lest walk through. They discussed many things, mostly around the speculation of the recent events – Stark Ruins, the library in Cap, their run-in with the Reds from Rockbase, Chuck’s concern something menacing was afoot. They pondered what could be; evil spirits coming for vengeance, a forewarning of death. Nothing of their speculation was of the positive nature.
Meanwhile, Chuck was reading more from the Stair na Seacht at his place of study in his hut. The cool moist air battled the warmer sun as the two took turns pouring in through the window overhead. Birds were singing outside and the ambiance added peace to Chuck’s focus.
“Come ere spires…blocking…light? Blocking sun?” He looked over to another book and scanned some pages, turning them with a slow pace as he searched the text. “North the South city of trade…” He stopped reading a moment and thought aloud, “The South city of trade…”
Chuck stopped and looked out the window to see the trees. He thought of anything to avoid what he knew was inevitable if he were to find out what mysteries were starting to reveal themselves. But his concern for what may transpire outweighed his desire to keep those closest to him from venturing out in the world outside the haven of South Island. He let out a heavy sigh.
Outside, Sonic and Amy were walking back from their excursion. Knuckles and Rouge were off talking under an oak tree. Tails was sitting around with his nose deep in another book of some sorts.
As Sonic and Amy came around to the main area of the village, Chuck walked out of his hut in good timing. He looked over at Sonic with a non-verbal message that he needed to speak with him. Sonic said some words to Amy and they split as Sonic walked to join his uncle.
“Sonny boy. Enjoy your morning?”
“So far, what’s up Chuck?”
“I’ve been reading and trying to decipher the Stair na Seacht. I haven’t gotten far but there is a passage that uncovered something nearby. It doesn’t say much but something close is much more manageable than anything if it may bring more clues to what may be going on.” He explained.
“Another adventure!?” Sonic asked enthusiastically.
Chuck smiled behind his bushy mustache. “I knew you’d take pleasure in the prospects of possibly another trek into the wild. Despite my concern for your well being.”
“Uncle Chuck, you’ve done so much for us here. And you know we can keep our own. If there is anything we can do to help out your research.”
“There is.” He said quickly. He began to walk and Sonic began to follow. “There is not a lot of definitive phrasing in the book. It’s almost entirely written in riddles it seems, although I can’t tell if that’s intentional or just so old that what it tries to describe and explain was based on limited information of the world at the time.”
“What kind of riddles?” Sonic asked inquisitively.
“Some of it is plane information…mostly lore and ancient beliefs and mythos. Other parts be like directions to pieces of a puzzle that it didn’t even intend to create. It’s got me arsed if I weren’t lying.”
“So what do you need from me?”
“You and the gang, don’t you forget. Not only do I fear this involve the lot of you, you all have a tight nit that surely come in handy in a pinch. I need you to go north again, to Cap and even a bit past. I will have to owe Eiméar more for your visit a second time but–”
Sonic took the chance to make jest, “She was kind but I think we may have put up a nerve on her while we were there.”
“Oh I’ve not a doubt you did you kook.”  Chuck answered with a chuckle. He got back to the topic at hand. “The book mentions a place. I think it refers to somewhere at the base of the Sléibhte Scáthaigh north of Cap. If you can’t find anything, don’t mingle about as it doesn’t define a precise location. But it talks about something there, a text or message of sorts. I couldn’t determine exactly. But it was under a chapter referring to the emergence of ancient calamities with the talks of fire and flood. I think it’s relevant based on the runes you saw at Stark Ruins. Might give some extra clues, whatever it is there referring to. And…it wouldn’t hurt to investigate as it will still take some time for me to study the book further.”
“Chuck, you know we’re your guys for the job!” Sonic said with a bounce of his words.
“Ha!” Chuck laughed a bit. “Oh I know you are lad.” His cheery tone at Sonic’s response faded back to emotions of concern as his deepest fear still lingered on his mind; the world could be consumed with darkness and he wouldn’t care so long as he knew Sonic and the rest of his friends and all those in South Island were safe from harm. But he knew there was much at stake and feared it directly involved those he was trying to protect. “Go grab your crew. I’ll let you all decide on when you want to make this journey. The last one was more trying on you than I had ever hoped it to be.”
With that, Sonic departed and bolted off to join the others. Tails was the first one he told as he wouldn’t even consider going anywhere without his best friend and ‘little bro’ as he says. Next was Amy who showed a fair share of concern but also intrigue at the prospect of uncovering more of the world’s secrets. Her dreams were definitely a factor in wanting to know more as well. Knuckles acted annoyed as he would with even the simplest of requests but took the opportunity to give Sonic some slagging saying he saved them last time and they could use his help. Rouge felt similar in the sense of watching out for the group, not so much in the poking fun at them part.
They decided to give it another day or so before heading out. Knuckles took this time to go back to Angel Island. Nack and Bean made jest on how Knuckles was leaving his own chapter of Reds for the Cyans but he was used to this with how much of his time was divided between the two factions of the two Societies. Mighty and Ray were supportive and wished him luck as they knew the dangers of the Greater Area since they too helped rescue the Cyans from their not-so-friendly Rockbase brothers and sisters on their journey back from Cap the last time. Bark was silent as ever.
The time came for the group to depart and was once again sent off by Chuck and Vanilla. The rabbit innkeeper, always the mother, even prepared another care package for them.
The journey to Cap was much like their first, uneventful. A good thing too. They arrived again in the market and were lucky no one remembered their faces based on their last scuffle with the locals. They are a rambunctious crew but were smart and learned quickly. They didn’t want to draw any attention or break out any of their ‘abilities’ as Chuck put it. But that didn’t stop their gaze at the goods and merchandise. Knuckles was particularly fascinated by the hustle of the city. He was too used to the quiet life of Angel Island – the village at South Island was sometimes even too much for him. He would moan and scoff at every Mobians that bumped into him which was a lot based on his larger stature as they walked through the crowded streets.
“Psst, miss.” A voice called out. Amy stopped and turned her head. “Yes you! Lovely pink quills you got.” An older lady called. “I ‘member the days my quills were so well kept. What’s your name lass?” The lady was an old hedgehog covered in a shroud and had many chains beads and pendants hanging from silver wire adorned on her head and shoulders. She had a few gemmed rings and long hanging earrings.
“Um… Amy?”
“Amy, lovely. Short for Amelia?” Amy didn’t respond and continued to stare inquisitively. She looked back at the group who stopped and noticed Amy fell behind. They stood with similar curious looks as to why she stopped. “Ah, no matter.” The gypsy continued. “I can tell you’re special.”
Amy turned back to the older hedgehog. “What?”
“Dreams is it?” Amy was stunned. “Come now, I only wish to help.” Her words were warm and sincere. Amy turned back to Sonic and the others and raised a finger for them to wait a moment for her. She slowly but cautiously followed the gypsy back behind her booth and into a small dwelling.
Amy passed many odd trinkets and oddities as she continued back. The place had a warm earthly glow to it and plants were all around in pots on the floor and hanging from the ceiling. Not too far back, as the place was rather small, the gypsy was sitting at a table. On the table was a cloth with a delicate design and repeating patterns. On top the cloth was a hookah.
“Aye, no need to be alarmed. Tis as much I can say for an old hag pulling a stranger off the street.” The lady said as Amy took a seat. The lady grabbed a hose from the hookah and drew in a large inhale of the substance. She offered it to Amy but she kindly shook her head mostly not even knowing what the thing was. “I saw your lot walk by and must say you are a peculiar bunch.”
“How so?” Amy asked, trying to keep as many words to herself.
“Strong energy coming from the lot of you. Not only that, I remember you all brought quite a stir to these parts a few moons back.” She explained. Amy’s curious yet cautious expression was washed away with a pang of fear. “No need to fret lass. I don’t mind a good show every once in a while. Just happy to catch your lot back through here. Now, last I wish is to intrude but you’ve got something on your mind, something heavy.”
“You seem to already know.”
“So you’re plagued by some dreams. Foreboding yet shrouded in obscurity. I have something to help.”
“Why?”
“Why what lassy?” The lady said as she took another toke of the hookah before standing up and walking over to a shelf full of odd pieces.
“Why are you helping me? If it’s tokens you’re after I don’t have much and am less willing to give them to you. I need them for other things.” Amy explained.
“Ah, though that’d be normally what I’d ask for. Not this time.” She came back with a small box and opened it up to reveal a deck of cards. “On the house this time. However if you ever stroll through and wish to take a gander at me lot then I’d be happy to fulfill those wishes.”
Amy took out the deck of cards and scanned through them. They weren’t any normal cards she had seen being played by the locals in the tavern or out in the street. They each had separate pictures on them, trees, symbols, imagery. “What are they?”
“Tarot cards my dear. To help you translate the messages the world sends you.” She sat back down and grabbed the hose of the hookah except did not take a drag just yet.
Amy continued to look through the cards but then turned to the gypsy with a raised brow. “You never really answered. Why do you want to help me?”
“As I said, I sense a great deal of energy coming from your crew. I sensed it back at your last visit and that was just from watching you tussle around with the street folk. I too have dreams sometimes. And I’ve been waiting to come across you all again. I believe I was told to help you and that is all. I don’t make it a habit to quarrel with the will of the world.” Finally she took a long drag from the hookah and whisked out a heavy cloud of vapor.
“Is…is there anything else you know?” Amy placed the cards back in the small box and rested her hands on it.
“It is not my place, nor yours, to ask questions to the ether. But only receive their answers. This was all I know about you and for both our sakes it may be better that way. Now, I’m sure your friends want to know where you slipped off to ey?”
Amy arose out from the lady’s dwelling to see everyone there waiting for her.
“Ames, what was that about?” Sonic asked.
“I…don’t really know.” Amy answered as she held the box in her hand. She slipped them away in her small pack.
“Probably just some desperate merchant trying to sell her something. Don’t fall to these guys’ scams there girl.” Rouge said as they all started to walk off. Meanwhile the gypsy peered out from behind a curtain in the only window of her home and watched with curiosity as they left.
They made it back to the library and walked in. It did not take long to find Eiméar again, slaving over the task of sorting the books in the magnificent study. “Hello Miss Eiméar.”
They were now back in her living quarters once again drinking tea as she set up for their short stay. “I knew I’d see yer lot soon but I shant have expected this soon.” Eiméar said as they sat. “That coot decided to have you bother me yet eh?”
“We won’t be staying long, no longer than last time. Just two nights.” Rouge explained kindly. “And we again appreciate your hospitality.”
“Well if that old hedgehog keeps his word I won’t complain. As long as you stay out of trouble this time ‘round, that clear?”
“We’ll keep to ourselves.” Rouge answered once more.
“And you got a new lad with you this time. What’s your name?” She said to Knuckles as he stood off to the side.
“The name’s Knuckles. It’s nice to meet you ma’am.”
“Knuckles, well geez, ah could have placed a bet on that one with those sluggers of yours.” She motioned down to his fists. “Another friend or are you some bodyguard of sorts.”
Knuckles smiled and glared over at Sonic to which he just rolled his eyes in response to Knuckles’ leer. “Maybe a bit of both.” Knuckles answered through a grin.
“Aye. Well, what be it dis time?”
“Chuck wants us to look at some place north of here. Said it should be at the base of the Sléibhte Scáthaigh.” Sonic stated.
“The Stair na Seacht is pretty cryptic Sir Charles says. But he said there may be something there that could fill in the gaps to his studies. Maybe in a cave or a hollow. Know of anything?” Amy asked.
“That I do. There’s an old cave I’ve been told up there with old carvings on the walls. Typically an old smugglers den so best be careful if yer plan to be ‘sploring any. Could that be it?”
“Possibly!” Tails answered. “Do you know anything else about the place?”
“Afraid not. Never been meself. Just heard ‘bout it. Not too far though and quite noticeable I’ve been told, but best go in the morning before the sun is past high. They don’t call em the mountains of shade for nothing.” She looked over at Knuckles again. “And best bring your bodyguard of sorts too. It’s abandoned I hear now but ya never know.”
The morning came quickly and the group set off to see this place. They initially ventured east to hit the base of the Sléibhte Scáthaigh and paralleled it north. There was nothing of particular interest for a good distance. They scanned out to the west in the open area before the mountains rose out from the land like towers but also checked directly at their base in case it was hidden before the sudden cliffs.
“Look!” Tails shouted as he was flying high above the rest for a better vantage. “I think I see something!” He zoomed down to their level and dropped down stirring up a little sand as he landed. “There is an outcropping of rocks and boulders not too far from here. Looks out of place, could be what we’re looking for.”
“Great job buddy! I’ll go ahead and scout it out to see and to make sure no one is around.” Before any objection from the crew Sonic sped off in the distance. It took not even a full minute for him to return. “I think he’s right! There is a sizable opening in the rocks. Didn’t see anyone around either.” Without another word he zoomed off again. Tails quickly sped off to join him. Knuckle and Amy ran as quick as they could in the looser ground and Rouge fluttered alongside them.
They reached the structure and saw it to be exactly as Sonic loosely described, a cave with an opening big enough for the tallest of Mobians to walk right in. They made their way down the entrance. Tails dug through his small pack and grabbed a flashlight. It flicked on and they ventured down. The light wasn’t entirely necessary however as a short bit past the entrance was the darkest part. Natural light began to illuminate the burrow through openings in the ceiling.
Soon they came into a decent sized room, one slightly bigger than any of their huts back at South Island. Closer to the hallway that was the entrance was some crates covered in sand and dust. They seemed abandoned and forgotten but the group took note not to stay long in case their owners made a return.
[x]
The sight beyond that was strange and mystical but beautiful. The light from the high sun poured down through the openings and glistened along the yellow and red rocky walls. It was surprisingly moist there and small puddles were scattered on the cave floor until they grew in size where they reached a small pool at the end of the cavern. The grotto there had two large very out of place trees arising from the pool. They arose tall through a large hole in the ceiling. They were amazed they couldn’t see the trees from outside but figured they may have been shielded by other taller rocks that jut out around the place.
One tree was an ash tree, forked into two halves. Intertwined with the ash tree was a white fir that rose up strong. In the pool were some reeds as well. The fact that all these trees were found in a cave was surprising. The water there must have softened the ground to make for a strong root system and the sun shining through must have been sufficient to keep the trees alive but the less than ideal environment surely stunted their growth.
“Hey guys, there’s something along the lines of what Chuck was thinking I think over here?” Knuckles was over by the wall and pointed to some carvings and etching there.
“Ogham!” Tails shouted as he and the others moved over to investigate. Sure enough, a series of lines with hatches and marks were all over the walls of the cave. There was too much scattered around to take note of all the etchings but they examined them nonetheless.
“Surely we won’t be able to write all these inscriptions down for Sir Charles, there are just too much!” Amy pointed out.
“He told me that more than often the writing was used more to inscribe names for memorials or markers for tribes and boundaries. There are a lot of random inscriptions. I don’t want to miss anything but maybe many of these are like that.” Tails said.
“Kind of like a ‘Sonic was here’ thing?” Sonic said half joking as he scratched his finger over some of the carvings.
Tails gave a chuckle. “Probably. Let’s try and see if anything sticks out.”
“There’s something over here.” Amy called out as she was over closer to the trees. “There seems to be more structure to these. Not only that…” She signaled everyone over, “runes!” There were only a few but the symbol ᚦ was followed by the laguz ᛚ that they knew from Stark Ruins. Then again with the first, followed by cen ᚳ and above both was the symbol ᚫ.
“There’s one on the tree too.” Rouge pointed out. On the white fir was an aged engraving, hardly made out but appeared to be another rune, ᛇ.
Surrounding the runes Amy found was a long vertical line of ogham inscriptions that appeared more like text than the others which just resembled single words.
Tumblr media
“If anything let’s write these down for Sir Charles.” Amy suggested. They did so and stayed a little while taking more looks around. They wrote down things here and there that they thought might be of interest. The sun that illuminated the grotto was now passed and little light was shining through the ceiling. They took this as time to make their leave and head back to Eiméar. It was early afternoon and with how close to the Sléibhte Scáthaigh they were, the sun was already starting to fall behind the mountains to the east.
They made it back to Cap with no trouble and divulged to Eiméar what they had found. She again told them that though she was familiar with every text in the library, she wasn’t so familiar with all their context and that Chuck would know more. She also suggested Chuck hand them some transcript to readily read runes and ogham if they were to be out doing more of Chuck’s ‘research.’ They made sure to suggest the same to Chuck once they got back.
The day had past and they settled in their own ways for their trek the next day. Tails was running about in the library picking up and reading books of interest. Rouge dragged Knuckles to the market and they promised not to cause any trouble. Sonic and Amy were talking together over tea.
“So she just…gave these to you?” Sonic asked as Amy had the tarot cards sprawled out in front of her.
“Yeah, it was…odd. She said she knew we were special. Also recognized us from our fights in the market last time. She somehow knew I was having strange dreams. I couldn’t say no to taking them especially as a gift.” She explained.
“As long as they aren’t ‘cursed’ or something.” Sonic said in his typical manner of unserious humor.
“No, I think she was sincere. I just am not entirely sure how to go about using these things. There is a placard describing each of the cards but… it’s still a bit confusing.” She was focused hard on trying to remember the cards and their descriptions and the different meanings behind them and how to read them.
Later that evening Rouge and Knuckles returned and Tails was back with a tired brain. The crew went to sleep and awoke to get ready to travel back. They gave their regard to Eiméar once again and thanked her for her hospitality. She now was surer than ever she would see them again and this time expected it to be soon.
Thankfully the journey back was much less exciting than their last trip from Cap back to South Island. They made it home with enough time for Chuck to not grow any concern. He met with them at once on what they had found.
“After last time I was concerned about setting you out again but I guess you have proven that you don’t always run into trouble.” He said with a smirk.
“I told you we were the guys for the job!” Sonic said proudly.
Chuck shook his head lightheartedly. He looked at the notes they made for him and studied them. “You said these were carved in the wall of a grotto?”
“They were. It was weird, in the middle of the barren land north of Cap, here was this little cave with two large trees growing in the rock!” Amy exclaimed.
“Two trees huh?”
“Yeah, an ash and a white fir were growing together. Some reeds too in the pond surrounding them.” Tails continued to explain.
“An ash tree, a white fir and reeds…?” Chuck seemed interested.
“Yeah. And then a BUNCH of ogham inscriptions on the wall.” Sonic spoke up. “Too much for us to write but Tails said you said most of ogham was used for names and markers so we only wrote down a few. But there was one in particular.”
Chuck cut him off. “The one by the runes?”
“That’s the one.”
“Hmm…” Chuck started stroking his mustache as he did when in deep thought. “Cen and laguz like you saw at Stark. And what seems to be thurisaz before them and ansuz above them.”
“Yeeaahhh… Sure.” Sonic said unfamiliar with the seemingly foreign language his uncle was speaking.
“There was another carved into the fir. It was faded but it should be there on the notes too.” Rouge added.
“Ihwaz.” Chuck said all the while writing down his own notes and flipping through a book in doing so. The group sat patient and with intrigue, with the exception of Knuckles who was in the corner chewing on a stalk of grass. “Interesting…” He said aloud as he continued to investigate.
It took a moment before he finished up and turned back to the group. All of their ears perked up simultaneously with interest at what he had to say. “The thurisaz is a rune meaning giants or strong ones, often in association with a conflict. Ansuz quite literally meaning ‘the gods’ and you already are familiar with cen and laguz, fire and water. So these tell me something about giants or gods of fire and water, possibly in some conflict.” He looked up at Amy as he and her were likely thinking the same thing – her dreams seemed to show some stalemate battle between the two forces. He continued, “And the ogham, seacht anord flaith coróin. Seven Chaos Prince Crown.”
“Seven chaos prince crown? I mean, I get the first half Chuck.” Sonic called out.
“There is an old legend saying the Lords of Seven each wore a crown that had a different shard of chaos bestowed upon them. I don’t know much more beyond that in terms of their significance. But these Lords were said to have immense power.” He answered.
“And the rest of the ogham? Any more hints from that old dead language?” Tails insisted on knowing more.
“Hmf,” Chuck scoffed, “dead language. It’s not just dead, and much less a language in the way we use the common tongue. It’s ancient. Found only in old text about ancient times and myths. I had forgotten entirely about it until you came across it at Stark Ruins. But you were right in that it seems the other inscriptions were nothing more than names and markers. An ‘I was here’ kind of thing.”
“Ha! I knew it.” Sonic said gleefully as he was softly elbowing Amy.
“Shh!” She shushed him so Chuck could continue.
“Why was the ogham in Stark in the common tongue then? And also the rune in the tree?” Rouge asked.
“Ah, well that is another mystery. Maybe whatever forces did that horrific deed at Stark knew who ever would stumble across it would only know the common tongue. But then again, why even make it ogham…” He said more so as a question to himself. “As for the tree, it was ihwaz or yew. Odd to label the tree as if anyone wouldn’t recognize the kind of tree it was. But the yew and even the ihwaz was a symbol in lore of death and resurrection.”
“From Chaos comes creation and creation ends with destruction.” Amy muttered.
“Yes, but creation also come from destruction.” Chuck mused. “And endless cycle of death and rebirth. You should all know this from our,” Chuck and Knuckles made brief eye contact, “from your respective ceremonies. One of the few beliefs all Societies have in common.”
“What of those crowns you mentioned?” Knuckles finally spoke up. Though stoic as he liked to be, he couldn’t help but also be intrigued by the information.
“I think there might be more to them than just ornamental pieces associated to folklore. I only know of one currently in existence and even then there is speculation on whether it is in fact one of the Lord’s crowns or just an ancient artifact from a time long passed. Last I heard it lay locked away in secret in a museum in the city of Westport, many many hundreds of miles from here.” Chuck further explained.
“If it’s locked away in secret, how do you know of this thing?” Sonic asked.
“Because I’m the one that found it.” They all froze in perplexion. “But that is a story for another time. I will need to read the Stair na Seacht more to see if this trail of crumbs is worth following. Go get a pint of gat at the tavern and rest up from your journey. I’ll let you know if I uncover anything of worth.” They all got up and moved out the door. “Amy, a word if you don’t mind dear.”
Amy looked at Sonic and he gave her a shrug. She’d join them shortly. Chuck moved over to the sink and began washing his hands. “I know you and I are both thinking similar thoughts.” He finished rinsing his hands and turned to further explain. “Whether from ancient myths or omens of future, your dreams are connected to this vast riddle we’ve been investigating and exploring. Fire and flood…” He paused, “I fear something of the sorts may come to transpire. And a human you said?” Amy nodded. “I think we need to find these ‘crowns’ before whatever man in your dreams does.”

Friday... It was like 7:30 PM and thought I could take a quick 10 minute nap but was so exhausted from work that next thing I knew was waking up at 3:00 AM. And since there is not much to do to pass time, I decided to do something about it: write.
One of the things I always liked about the Sonic franchise is it's characters. It's not only that they have very appealing designs that combine cute traits with a touch of coolness, but also their well defined personalities. Saddly, I often see people get the wrong idea about them... and it's not just the fans (particularly the fandumb who misinterpretate them into something they are not out of spite) but even the people who are supposed to be professionals who for some reason struggle to get the hang of characters that at first glance seem to have simple personalities.
Today I'm just going to focus on the main cast besides Sonic: Eggman, Tails, Amy and Knuckles.
Dr. Eggman IMO is a character that was always meant to be a cartoony villain who is as goody as he is dangerous. While in Japanese manuals he calls himself a scientific genious of evil, the truth is that Eggman is for the most part, just a very selfish and immature fellow who happens to also be the most brilliant mind in the entire world.
The reason why Eggman is so dangerous is that he pursues his selfish desires such as building an entire amusement park just for himself (and to absolutely share it with no one else) without ever thinking of how he puts everyone, himself included, in great danger by handling forces that he can't expect to control. He is like a very spoiled manchild who is playing with fire in a tinderbox.
While he considers evil, it's also important to note that Eggman is not exactly what I would call sadistic (except in the Archie/IDW comic) since he never is shown to enjoy the suffering of innocents that are caught on his schemes... Eggman simply just doesn't care, but I believe that if he were to be conscious of how his actions affect others, he might at the very least hesitate on going further with his plans because despite being a trouble maker, Eggman is not a monster and in some occassions has shown to still have redeeming aspects that do surface from time to time.
Another interesting aspect about Eggman is that despite him boasting about how great it is to be him and acting all smug, he might actually be a character that feels lonely. In Sonic Unleashed, this point was brought by Chip and think there is validity to it because in the next game, we're introduced to his two assistants Orbot and Cubot, who ever since have kept company to the doc, though as expected, he treats them awfully (but never in a cruel way) just like a bully would to their henchmen. Perhaps Eggman does want to have friends, but because of his selfish and self-centered personality, he drives away anyone who might want to try to come close to him. Heck, the only reason he and Amy remained Fuzzy Puppy buddies in Sonic Boom was that for once, Eggman stopped acting like a spoiled brat and returned the stolen figure after Amy threatened to stop being his friend.
Tails (aka Miles Prower). Tails is a character that has suffered a lot in recent games because of what I mentioned at the start of this wall of text: simple characters who are misunderstood.
This is a character that is meant to be the kid of the group, and as such, he would be the one who experiences doubts and self-confidence issues because while you have strong and experienced characters like Sonic and Knuckles, or the self-made heroine that Amy Rose eventually grew to become, Tails is just the youngest member of the group who for the longest time relied on being by Sonic's side to have the confidence to do things.
Tails has a talent when it comes to tinkering with machines which seems to bring him great joy (I imagine it's the kind like when I build sci-fi model kits), and is always seeking to gain the acknowledgement from his friends by showing to them his latest inventions. At heart, Tails is a gentle child who is the exact opposite of Dr. Eggman because while the doc uses all his talents and resources for self-serving purposes, Tails wants for his inventions to help make life easier for others. However, often his inventions have flaws/bugs that the boy oversees because of his child-like enthusiasm, and this can sometimes cause troubles (like in Sonic Boom's "UT" episode) that causes for Tails to sink into his own doubts.
One thing that I feel is very important to take into consideration is that Tails should never be the kind of character that guilt-trips the audience into feeling sorry for him. When one feels empathy for a character, it's often because they struggle and show very humane and relatable emotions. Tails being confused about what went wrong is IMO a very sincere form of showing his doubts and him trying to correct them is his form of struggle. A trap writers could fall for is to make the other characters act mean to him which is something I feel should be avoided because it cheapens the whole thing.
Amy Rose. With Amy, the thing I liked and always believed is that out of all the characters, she is the one with the most potential... And what annoys me is the way Sonic Team fails to deliver on it by all of the wrong reasons.
I always loved Amy because she is one of the characters that to mee feels the most "real". Amy is a very energetic and bubbly girl with an endless supply of optimism that always makes her see the best out of any situation. She also has quite some flaws too, like being impulsive, quick to jump into conclussions, can be a bit feisty, etc... IMO, this makes Amy feel closer to the normal people and believe that in the Sonic franchise, she serves as a bridge between Sonic's bigger than life adventures and the normal, everyday life. But if there is one thing that this character has that won me over, is her compassion and empathy for others. Sure, every character can show that too because it's a basic humane quality. However, none of them takes it to the length that Amy does because what makes Amy unique is that her compassion and empathy also extends towards the bad guys. You see, Amy is the kind of character that believes that everyone deserves to be happy in life, and because her insight makes her realize the sadness experienced by those who lost their way and deviated into a dark path, she will try to make them realize the inner good that they forgot existed or did not know was there. Where Sonic saves the world, Amy saves bad guys from themselves.
Funny enough, Amy herself is a character that I am very sympathetic for because unlike Tails and Knuckles, who from the very start of their careers had the full support of Sonic Team and always received a preferential treatment, Amy is a character that had to start literally from zero to get where she is now... and even then, sometimes it feels like she is often left behind by the developers who overlook the many things that she as a character can contribute to the main cast, what she herself can accomplish as a hero, what she can add as a playable character... And it's this one-sided form of exclussion that feels so unfair, based on dumbass ideas like "she wasn't part of the Genesis trilogy" that has resulted in so many missed opportunities... From SA2 not continuing her character development by giving the spotlight instead to Knuckles (who didn't even contributed to the plot in any meaningful way and was just there for the sake of pandering to his popularity), to being robbed in Forces from being the leader the IDW comic showed (and which previous games hinted she would one day become) to Mania not having her in the game despite already haven proved to be a great addition in Sonic Advence, giving her spot instead to a couple of literal nobodies. Even the animated mini-series would had also forgotten all about her had it not been for Tyson Hesse, who likes the character and always wanted to feature her and insisted until he got the green light to go ahead with what I feel is the most special episode of the Mania Adventures mini series (and the oerfect Christmas gift for me).If only Christian Whitehead and Takashi Iizuka had been more like Hesse... Cowards. No, I'm not even fucking sorry for calling them that.
Sometimes, as an Amy fan, it's so very hard to have any love for things like the immensely popular "classic trio" (the concept, not the characters involved) because how this has resulted in Amy always getting the short end of the stick. This is a character that IMO should had been right up there along Tails in terms of importance, not being sidelined or excluded over crap "reasons".
And finally, Knuckles.
Oh Knuckles, where do I begin. Despite how sometimes I may sound harsh towards the character, I have to say that I do like Knuckles because as a character, I believe he can be one of the most entertaining and relatable of the franchise, but because Sonic Team are a mixed bag themselves (they create wonderful character designs and give them unique personalities for the most part, but God if they can be clumsy when it comes to handling them) I feel that Knuckles is the opposite of Amy in that he is a character that fell victim of his popularity, where Amy on the other hand is a victim just because she wasn't introduced in a certain trilogy of games.
As a character, Knuckles feels like a mix between Donald Ducks short-tempered personality, and Daffy Duck's jealousy towards the main character. Indeed, Knux can be quite explosive with his temper, especially if it involves unwanted visitors laying their filthy casual paws all over the master emerald, or when facing unexpected obstacles (I know how this feels... I too hate when my work is affected by factors outside my own power. XD) which in animation, were hilariously captured by Tyson.
Knuckles relationship with Sonic on paper is that of a friendly rivalry... Not because Knuckles is this supposedly good, close friend of Sonic, which I still believe he is not (Tails has a reason to be a close friend, Amy has a reason AND had to struggle and insist until she finally got there... Knuckles though, he was never given one, although it's never too late to start working on it), but rather, because Knuckles was never a bad guy... He simply was some echidna with a very honest and naive sense of what is right which Dr. Eggman took advantage of to pit him against Sonic and Tails. Even if Knuckles was thankful to Sonic for helping clear the mess and recover the master emerald, I believe that deep down, Knuckles still resents having not only been tricked by Eggman, but also being beaten by Sonic... and not just in the literal sense of having been KO'd in Kombat, but also in the sense that Sonic did what he was supposed to do: retrieve the master emerald. This IMO is a wound in Knuckles' pride that never truly healed.
And this brings me to what makes Knuckles so sympathetic. Knuckles is the least brilliant mind of the group. He us also stubborn... A literal knucklehead. And yet, Knuckles is aware of this and in more than one occassion has expressed his frustration and regret for how easy he can be taken advantage of... How could someone not love Knuckles and just want to give him a good hug? This is why I was so very moved when the Archie comic had a heartwarming moment where he and Amy have a talk during a journey to retrieve the shards of the master emerald. Ian Flynn did a great job IMO at humanizing Knux by having him open up to Amy and talk about the things that trouble him, from Sonic being a teased, to his doubt to whether he is worthy of being the master emerald's guardian... And how Amy not only reminded how despite his mistakes, he never ever gave up. And when their adventure was over and succeded in their mission, Amy gave Knuckles that hug he deserved and needed so badly to make him feel appreciated.
They are all wonderful characters when they are done right, and why it so frustrates me so very much when they mess up with them because people, like the unintelligent mass of meat that they are, will always jump to the laziest and easiest conclussion, which is why they all have been given negative stigmas that have been so hard to shake off.
I really wish that these characters were made not only justice, but also to be handled by competent people that can understand what makes them themselves, who understand how they are suppose to act like and provide something that actually rewards their fans instead of punishing them (I'm looking at you Sonic Forces!). Funny how it's cartoons like Sonic Boom, the very last Archie comics and the IDW comic that has been delivering the things I always wanted while the games struggle and fail to deliver. This is why the idea of the next game worries me because I really don't have much faith in Sonic Team doing anything that has not been done in the last games: Sonic only, Tails's character being further butchered while Amy and Knuckles are glorified extras. How can I even have the least faith in them when their track record speaks so loud and clear? Only way the next game will give this characters the care they deserve is if the story is writen by either Ian Flynn or Tyson Hesse. They're the only ones that deliver what Pontac, that other guy and Sonic Team themselves failed to do.
