SWING INTO POWER: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOLF CART BATTERIE
Overview:
Golf cart batteries are a crucial component of your golf cart and ensuring they are properly maintained is key to maximizing their lifespan and performance.
Here are some following ways to help you understand everything you need to know about golf cart batteries:
1. Types of batteries:
Golf cart batteries typically come in two main types - lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Lead-acid batteries are more common and are typically cheaper, while lithium-ion batteries are more expensive but offer longer lifespan and better performance.
2. Maintenance:
Regular maintenance is crucial for keeping your golf cart batteries in good condition. This includes checking the water levels, cleaning the terminals, and ensuring proper ventilation.
3. Charging:
Proper charging is important for extending the lifespan of your batteries. Avoid overcharging or undercharging and make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging.
4. Discharging:
Avoid deep discharging your batteries, as this can reduce their lifespan. Try to keep your batteries above 50% capacity whenever possible.
5. Storage:
If you plan on storing your golf cart for an extended period, make sure to properly store and maintain your batteries. This may include disconnecting them, keeping them in a cool, dry place, and periodically checking the charge level.
6. Replacement:
Eventually, your golf cart batteries will need to be replaced. Keep an eye out for signs of decreasing performance such as reduced runtime or difficulty holding a charge, as these may indicate that it's time for a new set of batteries.
7. Proper installation:
When installing new batteries, make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and ensure they are properly connected and secured. Improper installation can lead to damage or reduced performance.
8. Safety:
When working with golf cart batteries, be sure to follow proper safety precautions. Wear protective gear, avoid contact with corrosive substances, and be cautious when handling batteries to prevent accidents.
9. Environmental impact:
Proper disposal of old batteries is important to reduce your environmental impact. Many recycling centers will accept old lead-acid batteries for proper disposal and recycling.
10. Consult a professional:
If you're unsure about how to properly maintain or replace your golf cart batteries, don't hesitate to consult a professional. They can provide expert advice and ensure your batteries are in top condition for optimal performance on the course.
Conclusion:
By following these tips, you can ensure your golf cart batteries are well-maintained and perform at their best, allowing you to enjoy your time on the course with peace of mind.

you stood in the kitchen, stirring the pot on the stove as soft music played from the speaker on the counter. you hummed softly, the door closing catching your attention, making you spin around in your socks. the voices entered the kitchen and you smiled at your two roommates.
“mate, you’re crazy,” max laughed, “i don’t understand how you did that.”
“because i’m a great golfer, that’s how,” lando said, putting his phone on the island as he pulled a stool out to sit, “how was your day, y/n?”
you turned back to the stove, “it was alright, i guess. got some work done, went to the store, the usual. not nearly as exciting as you two’s day it sounds.”
max smiled, patting lando’s shoulder, “mans was a beast on the green today, should’ve been there,” you shook your head with a smile, thinking about the last time the three of you were on a golf course.
let’s just say, drunk people shouldn’t drive golf karts. max continued, “oh, how was your date the other night?”
lando’s ears perked up, his head snapping away from his phone. you grabbed the pot with the oven mitts, pouring the spaghetti into the strainer, “it was alright, nothing special.”
“you went on a date?” lando didn’t mean it the way it came out. you looked over your shoulder at him, “with who?”
“some guy who was all over her the other night at the club,” max said, “was it not good?”
“he’s kind of a douche,” you said, bringing the spaghetti back to the pot and adding the sauce, “didn’t have a good time.”
“sorry to hear that, y/n,” max said before standing up, “‘mgonna go shower.”
you and lando nodded, his eyes going back to watch you as you fixed dinner. you met his eyes, “you have a staring problem, norris.”
“you didn’t tell me you were going to go on a date with that guy.” he said. you dropped the spoon in the pot, reaching up to grab plates for everyone.
“didn’t know i had to tell you all of a sudden.” you shrugged. he stood from his seat, walking over to you. you backed up against the counter, ignoring the butterflies in your stomach as he placed his hands on the counter, basically trapping you between the counter and him. he had a slight sunburn on his nose from being in the sun all afternoon, his sunglasses were still pushing back his curls, and his eyes were damn near mesmerizing.
“suppose you don’t,” he said, “did he bring you flowers at least?”
you shook your head and he clicked his tongue, reaching behind you for a plate, “that’s a shame. i would’ve brought your favorite.”
“do you even know my favorite?” you asked, eyebrows furrowed as he turned around to the stove. he put his plate down on the counter next to you.
“of course i do,” he said, “your favorite flower is a sunflower, and if im not mistaken you have a tattoo of a sunflower right…” he trailed off, lifting up the edge of your hoodie and pointing to your hip, “here.”
his finger touched the exact spot the tattoo was, his touch burning through the fabric of your sweatpants. his smirked as you met his eyes again, grabbing his plate as he moved back to the other side of the island. of course he knew where it was, it wasn’t like he hadn’t seen it before. he knew all the ins and outs of your body at this point.
“dinner smells good,” max said as he reappeared, in a t-shirt and a pair of pajama pants. he looked at you with furrowed eyebrows as you tried to regain your composure, “you alright? look like you just ran a marathon.”
you nodded, grabbing your own dinner, “i’m good.”
he nodded but still gave you a look. after dinner, max went to go stream but lando stayed back to help you clean up. you were washing dishes as he placed them in the sink. once all of them were collected, he wrapped his arms around your middle. you leaned back slightly, tilting your head to the side to let him place his head on your shoulder.
“going on dates with other guys when you still fold every time i do this?” he joked and you huffed, laughing softly.
“i don’t fold every time,” you said, “i pick and choose, and i guess today is your lucky day.”
he pressed a gentle kiss to your jaw and you couldn’t help the soft noise that came from your throat, “hmm? don’t fold every time?”
you rolled your eyes, “it’s been a while.”
“too long,” he mumbled against your shoulder.
“i need a shower,” you complained, turning around in his arms.
“me too,” he said, brushing a stray hair from your face, “wanna save some water?”
you laughed, shaking your head, “you shower with the water too cold.”
“you’re the one who likes it boiling hot! it’s a wonder you don’t pass out in there.”
you rolled your eyes, “maybe you’re just dramatic, did you think of that?”
he fake gasped, “me? dramatic? never.”
you nodded, stepping away from him, “keep telling yourself that.”
“seriously, come shower with me,” he grabbed your hips, pulling you back to him. you let out a soft laugh as he pouted, “please.”
you let his lips go to your neck, giving into him the second time today, “no, lan.”
“cmon,” he said, “it’s the least you could do for going on a date behind my back.”
“you were the one who wanted to keep this,” you waved your finger back and forth between your two bodies, “a secret.”
“not anymore,” he said, “i’ve thought about it, let me take you on a date. a proper one. i’ll get you flowers, take you to the restaurant downtown you love that you go to with your friends. i’ll pull all the stops, you deserve it.”
you smiled softly, “only if you promise to wear that black button up shirt you wore last weekend.”
he raised an eyebrow, “you liked that, huh?”
“maybe,” you smirked up at him.
“okay, then you have to wear that red dress you wore on the night out the other night.”
“deal.”
he smiled before lifting you up off your feet. you laughed, wrapping your arms around his neck, “where are we going?”
“my bed,” he said, carrying you down the hallway and shutting his bedroom door with his foot, “because now i can’t stop picturing you in that dress.”
“thought you wanted to shower?”
he sat you down on his lap, hands wandering under your hoodie as yours tugged on the hem of his golf shirt, “need you more than a shower right now.”

ex-boyfriends describe their relationship with the same person w/ txt’s choi line!
Tumblr media
choi yeonjun x fem!reader, choi soobin x fem!reader, choi beomgyu x fem!reader
warning(s): swearing, itty bitty angst, mostly fluff, mentions of past relationships
word count?! ooo ermmmmmm good question…it’s long…
coco's love note: this is based off a video made by glamor titled "3 ex-boyfriends describe their relationship with the same woman", I may make this a series so lmk which other idols you'd like to see (from who I currently write for)!
Tumblr media
video preview starts: now!
[y/n sits comfortably in a chair as her interview begins]
Y/N: How would my exes, describe our relationship?
[the video cuts to a pink screen with the words that follow it below]
We brought in three of Y/N's exes:
Ex #1 – Choi Yeonjun [he is seen smirking at the camera]
Ex #2 – Choi Soobin [he smiles shyly at the camera in front of him]
Ex #3 – Choi Beomgyu [sits nonchalantly while "shooting" the camera]
And asked each about their experience dating her.
Tumblr media
[y/n will ask all the questions presented in bold unless stated otherwise]
— So we met at?
Yeonjun: A dance studio near the area we both worked in.
Soobin: The bakery my aunt owns that I sometimes work at on the weekends.
Beomgyu: A pet store near my house.
— My type is?
Yeonjun: [he contemplates his answer before saying] Well me of course...just kidding she likes fun guys, the confident ones.
Soobin: The sentimental type maybe or the party guys.
Beomgyu: A guy who can hold their own but still love her.
— He was attracted to my?
Yeonjun: Her dancing of course. The energy along with it was always so captivating.
Soobin: Her smile was really pretty.
Beomgyu: Her energy, she was always smiling or laughing and I really liked that.
— And I was attracted to his?
Yeonjun: She always told me she loved the way I could "light up" a room just by walking in so I think the energy I gave and how I present myself.
Y/N: The way he presents himself to a room full of people he's never met will always leave an impact on me.
Soobin: My height and if she tells you otherwise it's a lie!
Y/N: His...caring nature? [she laughs as the producer calls her out for her blatant lie] okay okay! His height was crazy!
Beomgyu: My handsome face! [he gestures to his face and raises an eyebrow]
Y/N: His stupid jokes, as cocky as he seems the guy is funny as hell.
— Who made the first move?
Yeonjun: I did definitely.
Soobin: Surprisingly it was me, she would never.
Beomgyu: It was me she was too "nervous".
— Who made the first move? (cont.)
Yeonjun: It was during a performance we did together, all the emotions were super high so at the very end of the dance, I pulled her in and kissed her. Yeah best time of my life, the crowd went wild.
Soobin: She came in super late to the shop and asked for whatever croissants we had left but we didn't have any so I offered to make her some if she went out with me the next day
Beomgyu: We had been hanging out and I was bored so I just asked and surprisingly she agreed.
— His first impression of me?
Yeonjun: I thought she was going to be this cold partner that I wouldn't get along with, but obviously I was very wrong.
Soobin: She was a bit quiet but really sweet, then you get to know her and it's the complete opposite!
Beomgyu: I swear I thought she was crazy. I walked into the pet shop for some bird food and there she was fighting the clerk because he called her dog overweight. She is crazy but man I was scared.
— Our first date was?
Yeonjun: It happened right after that performance when I kissed her. We went out together and had burgers, then stayed up well past morning just messing around and talking at a playground near the venue.
Soobin: I took her to play mini golf. It didn't go too well since it has mini in the name and well...look at me. She laughed the entire time and instead of me helping her, she helped me.
Beomgyu: We went to an arcade and I beat her in every single game, then she pouted for the rest of the day till I promised to let her win next time we went back.
Y/N: no comment...
— Our first kiss was?
Yeonjun: Well you see...our first kiss kind of started it all.
Soobin: In her car after our, second or third date.
Beomgyu: Ha she was way too scared to kiss me so I did it when I walked her home after we hung out.
— We bonded most over?
Yeonjun: Our love for dancing and performing.
Soobin: We both had an affinity for baking?
Beomgyu: In the beginning our pets and then gradually just everything.
— I introduced him to?
Yeonjun: She introduced me to this entirely different view in life, it was just so uplifting.
Soobin: A new way of cooking, I dreaded it but turns out it can be fun if you do it right.
Beomgyu: A lot of new music came from her, my playlist if filled with it all still too.
— He introduced me to?
Yeonjun: A new outlook on dancing.
Soobin: So many places to eat and drink.
Beomgyu: To not worry what others think whatsoever.
— Did we say, "I love you?"
Yeonjun: [he leans forward and cups his hands around his mouth] We did but I said it first not her and if she lies then it's because she's a liar and hates me.
Soobin: She said she loved me after she met my family for the first time, and of course I said it back immediately.
Beomgyu: Yes, it was a phrase we often told to one another.
— In the morning I would?
Yeonjun: She wouldn't let me get out of bed to cook or shower or even pee. I mean not complaining too much but damn woman I had to pee.
Soobin: She would give me kiss then get up to cook.
Beomgyu: We didn't get up till like 11 if we were together we liked to just be with each other.
— In the morning he would?
Yeonjun: I always woke up first but never got up first since she would cling to me.
Soobin: Um hit snooze? Stay asleep.
Beomgyu: I would wake her up.
— He would call me?
Yeonjun: I didn't have one designated name for her but to get her mad I'd call her sugarplum or something really cheesy.
Soobin: Arm rest. [a smile finds its way on his faces as he's asked to elaborate] There isn't much to say she was my arm rest.
Beomgyu: Fiesty or crazy.
— I would call him?
Yeonjun: She was so mean she called me stupid head all the time.
Soobin: She always called me really nice things or something super mean like giant.
Beomgyu: She called me stupid head a lot and big baby.
— The best thing he did for me?
Yeonjun: I helped her open up a lot more I think.
Soobin: I always made sure she knew how special she was.
Beomgyu: No matter what I always spoken highly of her.
— And the best thing I did for him?
Yeonjun: She helped me with communicating. I get very upset very fast but she always made me feel better.
Soobin: She lessened a lot of my insecurities and that really boosted my confidence.
Beomgyu: Take care of me in a way no one before had ever done.
[the screen cuts back to a pink background with the words below appearing on it]
So who knows her best? (next segment)
Tumblr media
— I'm really good at?
Yeonjun: Dancing.
Soobin: Making people feel comfortable/comforted.
Beomgyu: Getting her way? In a good way not bad I swear.
Y/N: Dancing definitely but also teaching others.
— I could be better at?
Yeonjun: Singing because she loved to dance but singing...wasn't her forte.
Soobin: Packing for trips. She overpacked a lot.
Beomgyu: Not fighting with the pet store guy.
Y/N: Being on time or toning down when appropriate.
— I loved to travel to?
Yeonjun: Any place with good food and people.
Soobin: Oh she liked going to sunny places.
Beomgyu: Where didn't she like to go.
Y/N: Places with good food or a nice sun.
— He knows I'm really proud of my?
Yeonjun: How far she's come with dance.
Soobin: She always took pride in how quickly she learned to be on her own.
Beomgyu: Just her life in general, she is doing what she wants and not many people get to do that.
Y/N: As much as I am proud of my dancing, I am so proud of how quickly I was able to go out and do things on my own.
— He knows I hate?
Yeonjun: When people criticize her but have absolutely no background knowledge on what she's doing and why.
Soobin: People who project or are just bullies.
Beomgyu: Not being able to be independent.
Y/N: Not having freedom to do things I know I should be able to do.
— My greatest skill?
Yeonjun: Her passion for wanting to do things.
Soobin: Dancing, I probably haven't mentioned it but she can dance really well.
Beomgyu: Her brain is huge and she uses it well.
Y/N: I know how to make people feel comfortable and I can cook really well.
— I've always wanted to buy?
Yeonjun: What kind of...man I don't know. Clothes? She had a lot of clothes.
Soobin: Shoes maybe, also like jewelry.
Beomgyu: One of those big extra dog houses for her dog.
Y/N: I want to buy my dog his own house.
— I have a talent for?
Yeonjun: Being herself and taking no crap from others.
Soobin: Making people comfortable.
Beomgyu: Tossing small candies in the air and catching them in her mouth.
Y/N: I can make people laugh I think.
— My biggest pet peeve is?
Yeonjun: People adding their opinions in situations that don't involve them.
Soobin: When she feels like she's being restricted from doing things she loves.
Beomgyu: People calling her dog fat of course!
Y/N: When people call my dog fat!! Why would they ever be so mean to him!
— Who takes longer to get ready?
Yeonjun: Definitely me…but only because I need to make sure my fit is good you know?
Y/N: Him always.
Soobin: Of course her! We never made our dates on time but honestly she was so pretty it didn’t matter.
Y/N: Me but only because he has such a nice style he puts his outfits together so quickly!
Beomgyu: Her, no questions asked.
Y/N: Bye it was so him, he is so indecisive!
— One word that best describes me is?
Yeonjun: Amazing.
Soobin: Kindhearted.
Beomgyu: Soulful.
Y/N: Unforgettable.
[screen behind y/n changes to a different color indicating a shift in the types of questions being asked]
Tumblr media
— We dated for?
Yeonjun: Three years and two months.
Soobin: Eight months.
Beomgyu: Two years.
— We broke up because?
Yeonjun: Our paths were moving in different directions and we began to not really know one another in a sense.
Y/N: Our lives were moving in different directions and we started to argue a lot, so we decided to split.
Soobin: I think we realized that our relationship was more like friends than a couple.
Y/N: He’s like my best friend, and that was all we started seeing one another as.
Beomgyu: Our communication was really bad, and we had a hard time being honest with one another.
Y/N: We weren’t completely honest with our feelings and thoughts towards one another. It caused a lot of problems for us.
— My worst habit was?
Yeonjun: She didn’t believe in herself enough.
Soobin: She had a really busy schedule and prioritized work.
Beomgyu: Workaholic.
Y/N: Impostor syndrome was BIG.
— His worst habit was?
Yeonjun: Didn’t spend enough time with her.
Soobin: I wasn’t the easiest to communicate with.
Beomgyu: Prioritized my bird over her dog.
— He hated my?
Yeonjun: She could never sit still, always needed to be doing something, could never relax and take care of herself.
Soobin: I didn’t and still don’t hate anything about her, honestly.
Beomgyu: She was bad at communication and so was I so it was hard to get things out.
— And I hated his?
Yeonjun: Probably my friends, she said they liked me too much.
Soobin: How serious I was all the time.
Beomgyu: I couldn’t take anything seriously, we’d fight and I’d laugh it off.
— Were we in love?
Yeonjun: Definitely, always will be.
Soobin: I think at the beginning yes we definitely were.
Beomgyu: Yeah no doubt.
Y/N: Yeah I loved them all, I think Soobin was more of a friendly or brotherly love but Beomgyu and Yeonjun were love love.
— We always fought about?
Yeonjun: Never seeing one another.
Soobin: Being with each other too much.
Beomgyu: How we never communicated with one another.
— I got over the break-up after?
Yeonjun: I wish I could tell you.
Soobin: After we both realized we wanted to same ending.
Beomgyu: What kind of question is that? I don’t know.
— He got over the break-up after?
Yeonjun: Am I even over it? [he chuckles and looks away from the camera]
Soobin: It wasn’t too long, I think I’d accepted it long before it was over.
Beomgyu: Never.
— How did things end?
Yeonjun: Not the best, but we’re better now. We grew apart and it will take time to get back to a great place but right now it’s good.
Y/N: We hadn’t been a real couple in a long time so when it ended it was hard, it hurt both of us a lot but I think we’re getting better.
Soobin: It ended super well I think?
Y/N: It took a bit of space but we’re happier now.
Beomgyu: We argued so much, and that hurt our relationship a lot. I wouldn’t say it ended well.
Y/N: It sucked so bad at first, like I really loved him so much so the end not ending well hurt a lot.
[ending music switches on and the background behind y/n changes colors for one last time]
— Would we date again?
Yeonjun: I think if our schedules and paths aligned with one another, then yes we could.
Soobin: No! But I adore her always.
Beomgyu: Ummm well like assuming we’ve grown and gotten better at communicating with one another then yeah maybe? I don’t know? Yes?
Y/N: I don’t know, I guess only time can tell.
— Are we still on good terms?
Yeonjun: I think so? Could be better.
Soobin: Oh definitely. We have movie nights together.
Beomgyu: Could be better, but our animals have play dates so there’s that.
Y/N: Yes! I love them all, and like yeah some terms could be better but we’re working on it!
— We stayed friends because?
Yeonjun: I don’t think I could live a normal life without her.
Soobin: She’s like my best friend, of course we’d stay friends!
Beomgyu: I think I’d die if she wasn’t in my life, not to be dramatic or anything.
— He would say he misses my?
Yeonjun: Personality, she made me super happy and we had a great time together.
Soobin: I see her too much I have no answer for this!
Beomgyu: I miss her dog, but like I mean like living with him not just co-parenting him.
— I would say I miss his?
Yeonjun: Cuddles, I give the best ones.
Soobin: Can you really miss something of someone’s when you see them all the time?
Beomgyu: My jokes definitely, we laughed a lot.
— Best memory of our relationship was?
Yeonjun: One time we danced in the rain because she said it was on her bucket list of things and I wanted to do that for her.
Y/N: He helped me check off a lot of things I wanted to do in my lifetime and I appreciate that so much.
Soobin: When we made a giant, I’m talking four foot tall, gingerbread house for a contest and still lost but it was fun to do it.
Y/N: We have so many good ones don’t ask me to pick please!
Beomgyu: Walking in the park at night when it was peak golden hour and she looked so damn beautiful.
Y/N: Weekly walks around the park near his apartment.
— The best thing to come out of our relationship was?
Yeonjun: I think I gained a lot of knowledge from her and our relationship in general.
Soobin: Our friendship.
Beomgyu: I grew as a person definitely.
— He would tell my future boyfriends?
Yeonjun: Oh don’t even get me started, good luck is number one. Have fun.
Soobin: You’re very lucky, she’s amazing.
Beomgyu: [he adjusts in his chair and looks the camera dead in the eyes] I hate you. She’s mine. [he flashes a smile after]
[screen flashes back to y/n and all three exes sitting in our shot together]
Interviewer: Would you do this again?
Y/N: Possibly? I think it’s been fun to see their answers especially because they’re all such different people, special in their own ways definitely.
Interviewer: Okay Y/N, that’s a wrap! Thank you so much for coming and thank you boys for agreeing to participate in this video today.
All: Thank you!
[screen pans as the words “ENLUV” flash indicating the ending of the video and we watch y/n and her exes walk off screen]

It was supposed to be a quick trip to town; Sam needed some chili powder and beans to finish making her chili, and Tara wanted to tag along. Of course, Tara only wanted to go because she could probably convince Sam to get her something, and that definitely happened; it just wasn’t what Sam expected.
As the two sisters were leaving their local grocery store, there was a piece of paper stuck to the bulletin board, and as soon as Sam read it, she knew it was over for her.
“Oh my god, Sam, look!” Tara exclaimed as she walked to the board and pointed at the paper. On it was a blown-up picture of a mother dog and six puppies next to her, and underneath the photo read the words, ‘Puppies for free. Shar Pei and Malinois mix. Need all six gone, or they go to the pound. Text XXX-XXX-XXXX if you are interested.’
“Sam, we have to get one!” Tara said as she pulled out her phone and texted the number. “Absolutely not,” Sam retorted. She would not have a dog in her household that she would have to take care of inevitably.
“Why do you hate me?” Tara asked with a slight frown. She knew that if she played this card, Sam would have no option but to tell her yes. Sam stammered over her words but eventually said yes when she realized she couldn’t tell her little sister no. Tara let out a happy squeal as she texted the number, and as they left the shop and got into Sam’s car, she got a response. “They said we could stop by and look at the puppies right now if we wanted. And, of course, we want to,” Tara decided for her and her sister as she told the stranger that she was on her way. “Tara, we cannot just show up at a stranger’s house,” Sam retorted, and Tara scoffed at her words.
“We aren’t going to show up randomly; we’ve been invited. And besides, you’ve talked about getting a guard dog for a while,” Tara explained as she put in the stranger’s address and told Sam how to get there.
With a small huff, Sam listened to her sister’s directions, and the pair arrived at the stranger’s house within ten minutes. Any fear of this being a murderer’s house quickly disappeared as soon as Sam turned down a road near a golf course, and country club homes were lined up on both sides of the street. It was close to Christmas time, and every single house had Christmas lights hung up. And as the two looked at the lights, they both guessed that each house paid more for those lights and decorations than they made in a year combined. ‘It’s just October,’ Sam thought to herself as she gazed at the houses.
“Some of these houses are insane!” Tara exclaimed as her eyes followed a house with a giant statue of Jack Skellington dressed as Santa, and Sam hated to admit it; it was pretty fucking insane.
As the two drove by that house, the most beautiful and captivating woman Sam had ever seen stepped out of the house wearing scrubs, and she looked like she was in a hurry. A weird feeling shot through Sam’s chest as she drove past the beautiful woman getting in her car, and for the first time in her life, Sam wanted to ask for that lady’s number.
With a shake of her head, Sam continued her drive for another minute before she parked outside the designated house. It was one of the more expensive houses in the area, and when Tara texted the stranger about looking at the puppies, a sweet older woman came out of the front door and approached Sam’s car with a beaming smile and warm personality.
The woman introduced herself as Andrea and led the two sisters in her lavish home. “I know it sounds awful, but we must get rid of these little guys. My daughter, Y/N, lives just up the road from me, and the sweet thing is a vet. So I know she would kill me if I let one of these cute babies go to the wrong people. But you two look like lovely people,” Andrea explained as she led the sisters through her house and into the living room, where a small area had been boxed off as the mother and her pups slept together. “How old are they?” Sam asked as she looked at the puppies and felt her heart warm at the sight of the babies and their squished faces.
“Almost eight weeks; Y/N says that’s good for them to stay with their mother for that long,” Andrea replied as she opened the gate and allowed Sam and Tara to walk in. At the sound of footsteps approaching, a couple of the puppies began to stir, and one walked toward Tara and started to rub its face against the girl’s leg. “Hey, little guy,” Tara said as she squatted down and petted the puppy, “Am I allowed to pick it up?”
“Of course! Look at as many as you like; please wash your hands before you pick up the next one. Y/N’s rules,” Andrea said with a smile. Tara picked up the puppy and giggled when the dog licked her face.
The puppy was a brownish color with some shades of black and the softest ears Tara had ever felt. Along with his soft ears, he had the wrinkliest face of a Shar Pei and the stiff body of a Malinois. He had these brown beady eyes that Reminded Sam of Tara, and as she watched her sister play with the dog, she knew the two would be a handful. The dog might not be the best guard dog in the future, but at least he will keep Tara out of Sam’s hair.
After discussing it with Andrea, the two sisters adopted the dog and wrote down the advice of Y/N. “You know, I seriously think you and my daughter would get along perfectly, Sam,” Andrea stated as she walked toward Sam’s car. The mother was carrying a few bags of soft dog food and a more oversized bag for when he gets bigger, recommendations of Y/N, of course. “Oh, yeah? How come?” Sam questioned as she opened Tara’s door; her sister was carrying the puppy that had now fallen asleep in her arms and shut the door.
“I don’t know. Call it a mother’s intuition, but I know you two would get along,” Andrea replied with an all too-knowing smirk that Sam didn’t pick up on. If she played her cards right, she could finally set her daughter up with someone who wasn’t a psychotic woman who tried to murder people on occasion.
Not that your dating history was terrible; you just preferred women who might try and kill you in your sleep.
“What place does she work at? We’ll need to find him a good place,” Sam asked as she opened the back doors. “She works at Ocean Boulevard, just off of Cornelia Street,” Andrea replied as she placed the bags of dog food in the seat, and Sam closed the door.
“I’ll have to give it a try. Thank you,” Sam said with a smile as she said goodbye to Andrea, got in her car, and drove back home with a new addition to the family. As she drove away, Andrea pulled out her phone and called you, too excited to tell you about the new romantic partner she found for you. She might have been an over-the-top mom and was always trying to set you up with women, but she had a good feeling about this young lady.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sound of soft scratching and whimpering woke Sam up from her peaceful slumber. She groaned as she checked the time and cussed as she saw that it was a quarter past 1. “Warner, come on. We have to go to bed,” Sam heard Tara whisper outside the door, but it was too late; Sam was already getting out of bed.
“Hi,” Tara weakly said with an awkward smile as she held the puppy close to her chest. “What are you doing up?” Sam questioned as she looked between her sister and the dog.
“Warner wanted to come and visit you, and he wouldn’t stop crying until he got to see you,” Tara replied as she held the dog toward her sister. Sam winced when he yawned in her face, and the smell of puppy breath invaded her nostrils. “Well, he got to see me. Now tell him to go back to bed,” Sam commanded as she got back in bed, leaving Tara standing in her doorway.
“But he wants to sleep with you,” Tara spoke for the dog as she sat him on Sam’s bed. And sure enough, he walked toward Sam and made himself at home on the woman’s chest.
With a small huff, Sam allowed the dog to sleep on top of her while Tara climbed into her bed. “Not you, too,” Sam groaned, but Tara shushed her and quickly fell asleep.
As the minutes ticked by, thoughts of regret plagued her, but she was glad to see her sister this happy. And who knows, maybe she was about to meet the vet daughter Andrea was talking about.
Almost like a prayer, not even a week after Sam went to bed with the thought of you, she had to take Warner to the vet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Sam came home from work, she only wanted to relax, drink some wine, and watch a movie or two. But all that came crashing down when she returned to a crying Tara sitting on the floor holding a more than excited Warner. “Oh my god, Sam! Thank god you’re finally home!” Tara exclaimed through tears as Warner wiggled out of her arms and came prancing toward Sam.
“What’s wrong, Tara?” Sam worriedly asked as she dropped her bag and went to Tara’s side. “Warner ate one of my Legos!” Tara shouted as she picked up the dog and placed a loving kiss on his head. Warner then tried to lick Tara and whined when she dodged it. The puppy seemed ignorant to the crying girl who feared for his life, and all he wanted to do was lick Sam and Tara.
“He seems fine,” Sam coldly replied, but when Tara gave her a death glare, Sam stood up and grabbed her back, “Alright, let’s take him to the vet then.”
The car ride to the vet was silent as Tara tried to calm down while Warner happily licked the more petite girl’s hands. It might sound stupid to most, but taking care of Warner meant that Tara could actually care for herself in her own eyes. She believed that if she kept the dog alive and gave him a long and happy life, she could also have that same life.
“I think he’s fine,” Sam stated but quickly regretted her words when Tara smacked her arm, and she swore she heard Warner do his dog version of a laugh. Sam could not wait until they got to the vet just to prove to her sister that the dog was perfectly fine.
And Sam also hoped that you would be there as well. Not that she was particularly interested in meeting Andrea’s daughter, but she wanted to see if you actually lived up to your mother’s kind words about you. And when Sam met you, she knew that Andrea was right, and then some, as the Latina could not pull her eyes away from you.

It had been a prolonged day at the clinic today, nothing too crazy except for the occasional ‘help, my dog swallowed a mysterious item.’
“If I had a dollar for every time someone came in here because their dog swallowed something they weren’t supposed to, I would be rich!” Your coworker, Noah, exclaimed. You two have known each other for years, as you went to high school together, and both decided that you two wanted to go to veterinary school together as well. The two of you got along so well because you both never dated in the same pool of people.
“I feel your pain, but the night is still young, and I bet you that we will have another one,” you replied as you rolled over to his desk in your chair. “Are you seriously playing Solitaire right now?”
Noah scuffed at your question as he continued his game on the computer. “Yes, I am, thank you very much. And I am quite good at it; I shall have you know,” he sassed back before turning his attention away from his game and looking at you, “Your mother told me that she had found someone for you. Is it true?”
You sighed as you leaned back in your chair and threw your back. “Dude, you have no idea. She called me as soon as she met this woman. She went on this long-ass tangent about how I seriously need to give this woman a chance because ‘she had the softest brown eyes and held all the warmth I would need,’” you finished with a quote from your mother.
“She sounds like a real charmer,” Noah replied, “But seriously, how much should we trust your mother’s opinion? You remember the last girl she set you up?” At the mention of your last relationship, you shuttered. “Yeah, let’s not bring that up again. And besides, when did this turn into a ‘we’ thing?”
Noah scoffed at your words that cut him deep. “We have a bond, you and I. We shared a room on our trip to Italy because the group wanted to ‘contain the gayness’ so no one would contract it. That’s a bond that doesn’t break!” He exclaimed with a smile. “Being for real, though, You’re my best friend, and I want what’s best for you, even if that means having to butt heads with your mother from time to time.”
I know,” you said with a sigh, “I mean, at least she’s making an effort. Even if she sets me up with crazy ass women.”
“Ain’t that the truth,” Noah joked as he returned to his solitaire game while you stood up. “You know, I kinda want to meet this woman. Just to prove to my mom that all the women she tries to get me with are absolutely insane,” you joked as you grabbed your telescope and put it around your neck while leaving the reception area.
Just when you started to walk into the back room to check on the animals that were staying overnight, the front door opened, and the bell rang. “Your turn to get it,” Noah stated while making no effort to check to see who was at the door.
You huffed at his words while walking toward the front door, and your breath hitched in your throat. Standing before was the most beautiful woman you had ever seen, and she wore a tight, long-sleeve shirt that hugged her muscular arms perfectly. The shirt was also tight on her torso area so that you could see the faintest of an outline of her abs. And those eyes, you swore that they were the softest eyes you had ever seen, big and brown and enticing. All you wanted to do was get lost in them, but your mind was quickly pulled out of the gutter when a more petite woman stepped out from behind the alluring woman while holding a small puppy in her arms.
“My dog swallowed a Lego!” The girl exclaimed while walking closer to you, and you threw an evil glance at Noah when he chuckled at the girl’s statement. “Alright, let’s see what I can do for it. May I?” You politely asked with a smile while holding out your arms. The girl was hesitant initially, but after a slight nudge from the taller woman, she reluctantly handed you the puppy.
“Follow me,” you said while walking down the hallway and opening up a door to a room. You placed the dog on the metal table, and he automatically curled up into a ball and closed his eyes. “I’m going to need you to fill out these papers while I get the ultrasound set up and ready to go,” you stated while putting some paperwork on a clipboard with a pen and handing it to the more petite girl, as she seemed to be the one who cared about the animal the most.
While you got the ultrasound ready, you couldn’t help but feel eyes on you, and when you met them, you gave the taller woman the softest smile, and Sam felt her heart melt. When she first got here, Sam noticed your badge, and her heart did flips when she saw that it said ‘Y/N L/N,’ and Sam prayed that you were the daughter of Andrea.
“Here you go,” Tara said while handing you the clipboard, and you told her thank you as you took it from her. “‘Warner?’ That’s an odd name for a dog,” you stated as you looked over the sheets for the dog.
“Yeah, I named him after my favorite book character,” Tara replied embarrassedly as her eyes looked bashfully at the floor.
“Please tell me you did not name your dog after Aaron Warner,” you deadpanned as you stared at the girl.
A few beats of silence passed before she admitted, “Yes, I did.” You chuckled as you set the clipboard down and turned on the ultrasound machine. “I’m going to ignore what you just said,” you joked with a smile, and Sam had to fight back the feeling of jealousy that stirred in her chest.
“Okay, so I’m going to do an ultrasound on Warner’s stomach to see the location of the Lego, and then, depending on its location, I will be able to tell the best course of action. Is that alright with you?” You asked as you sat in your chair and rolled over the metal table.
“Yeah, that’s fine with me,” Tara replied as she walked over to the table and gently ran a hand down Warner, causing the dog to open his eyes and yawn.
A few minutes passed while you performed the ultrasound, and when you found the object in the puppy’s stomach, you pointed to it on the screen. “You can see the object right here. Now, he will be able to pass it just fine; giving him cooked asparagus will help him have bowel movements, and he should secrete it in a couple of days,” you explained as you turned off the machine and rubbed the dog’s head for good measure.
“Thank you so much,” Tara replied as she picked up the dog. “It’s no problem,” you replied while opening the door and motioning for the sisters to follow you to the front desk.
“Just come back in a week's time for a checkup, and I can do his routine checkup as well,” you stated while filling out a business card with your number and the clinic's address, and you handed it to Sam. When she took the card, her fingers brushed against yours, and you both felt a spark shoot through your fingertips and quickly spread throughout your bodies. Both of your heartbeats quickened and matched in rhythm, both of you too shocked to say anything for a few moments.
‘Umm… How much do I owe you?” Sam eventually asked after she put your card in her wallet. Realizing that you were still at work and needed to take money from this woman, you hated your job at that moment. “You don’t owe me anything,” you offered with a smile as you printed off the receipt for Sam.
A small laugh escaped Sam’s lips as she started to pull out her credit card, but you quickly placed your hand on the woman’s wrist, stopping her movements. “I’m serious; you don’t owe me anything. Consider this pro bono,” you said as you gave Sam’s wrist a gentle squeeze and a loving smile.
The feeling of your hand on her wrist gave Sam wartime she didn’t need, and she felt her heart rip apart when you pulled away after keeping your hand on her for a second too long. “I can’t let you do that,” Sam stated as she shook her head and handed you her card, and you accepted it only to hand it back with a smile. “Consider this a treat, and you can repay me by coming back next week for a check-up,” you reasoned.
A few moments of silence passed as you had a silent battle with Sam, but eventually, she surrendered and put her card away. “Are you sure?” Sam asked one last time; she hated having to be in people’s doubt, as it seemed that they held something over her head. But the thought of being in your doubt didn’t sound bad for some unknown reason.
“Oh yeah, I’m positive,” you responded as you followed the sisters toward the door and held it open for them. She didn’t know why, but Sam wanted to introduce herself to you. It might be because you just waived her undoubtedly costly vet bill or because she found herself attracted to you.
“Well, thank you. Seriously. I don’t know how I could ever repay you,” Sam said while sticking her hand toward you, “I’m Sam, by the way.”
‘You can repay me by letting me take you on a date,’ you helplessly thought but said, “It’s nice to meet you, Sam. I’m Y/N,” while shaking the woman’s hand.
Her rough hands felt heavenly against yours, and you could feel her strength as she tried her best to treat your hand with gentleness, something she wasn’t used to. You found yourself getting lost in her chocolate eyes, and you questioned how thieves bothered with petty art while her eyes existed; they seemed priceless to you.
An awkward throat cleared beside you, and you quickly dropped Sam’s hand while Tara looked between you and her sister. “Well, it was nice meeting you, Dr. Y/N, but me and my sister have to go,” Tara commented with an evil smirk; she could not wait to interrogate her sister about her tense exchange of names with you.
“I’ll see you next week, yeah?” You asked the girls, but in reality, you were only talking to Sam. “Of course,” Sam responded with a smile as her eyes quickly checked you from head to toe before leaving the clinic with her sister.
Once they had left the building, an arm was flung around your neck, and Noah pulled you against his body, “What did I just witness?”
“Nothing, just a friendly exchange,” you replied as you shoved Noah off you and sat at the reception desk. “Bullshit. You never offer free stuff because it will come out of your paycheck. And you and I both know that was over 500 dollars,” Noah retorted while standing over your shoulder.
“I know that.”
“Then why did you do it?”
“Because I felt like it was a nice thing to do.”
“Nuh-uh. You just saw a pretty woman and instantly fell to your knees. You disgust me,” Noah joked with a disgusted face. “Oh, like you haven’t done worse. Remember that Tinder guy? You had made me drive you an hour to where he lived so we could stalk him at work!” You exclaimed as you recalled the memory.
“That wasn’t my fault! I needed to know if I was being catfished! And I was!” Noah defended, but after a few moments, he decided to let it go; he knew he would never win an argument with you.
“Mhm, that’s what I thought,” you smugly said as you began writing down notes on Warner, and once you were done, you checked the time and stood up. “Alright, it's time for me to clock out. I’ll see you later, Noah,” you stated while grabbing your belongings and walking toward the front door.
“I’ll see you,” Noah called out with a wave of his hand while you disappeared outside.
The drive back to your apartment was a quick one and one filled with the thoughts of Sam. You knew it was stupid, but you couldn’t help but feel an undeniable attraction to the woman you had just met. Based on the details your mother had given you about the woman she told you about, you knew that this was the woman she mentioned. Those big, brown eyes and soft smile, you were head over heels for that woman. And unbeknownst to you, she is also head over heels for you as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What the fuck was that?” Tara questioned as soon as they got into Sam’s car. “Hmm? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Sam guiltily replied. She had hoped that her sister wouldn’t have picked up on her unmistakable fascination with you, but Tara knew Sam like the back of her scarred hand.
“Yes, you do. Why did you feel it was necessary to introduce yourself to her? You hate it when people know your name, especially strangers,” Tara challenged. She would get an answer from Sam, whether the woman wanted to admit it or not.
With a small sigh, Sam started the car and drove toward the apartment before answering, “I just felt like it was needed since she paid for the bill. Nothing else.”
“Mhmmmmm,” Tara replied as she studied her sister. She knew Sam was lying, but she wouldn’t press her for more information. Not now, at least.
Sam was grateful that Tara didn’t press on anymore, and she enjoyed the silence as she hoped she would be the one to bring Warner back to the vet. She found comfort in your soft and calloused hands, and for the first time in her life, she wanted to be held by someone. And if you had her without hurting her, you would be the first who ever did.
Sam knew it was crazy to feel this way toward someone she had just met not even an hour ago, but there was an undeniable spark that you both felt when your hands met. And she was pissed that she had to wait a week to see you again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That week was the slowest and most dreadful week of Sam’s life. Work sucked, and she had to work doubles almost daily, but she vowed to repay you for the vet bill. She thought about inviting you over for dinner to repay you, but she figured that you would want actual money instead of a nice, home-cooked meal where the secret ingredient was love and yearning.
Only when it was time to take Warner to the vet did she get out of bed with excitement, threw on a tank top that showed a little bit of her belly, and put on her trusty bomber jacket over it.
“Alright, Tara. I’m taking Warner to the vet,” Sam called out as she picked up the puppy and grabbed his leash. Warner started getting a little bit bigger now, but he was still small enough for Sam to hold him with one arm.
“What? I thought I was taking him?” Tara confusingly asked as she exited her room and frowned when she saw Sam heading toward the door. “And why are you so eager to take him?”
“I’m not; I just want to get this over with. And you can’t take him because you have your English paper due tonight,” Sam reasoned, even though she wanted to take Warner to see you again.
“Are you sure you don’t want to take him because you want to see the pretty vet lady again?” Tara questioned with a playful smirk and thought, ‘Got ya,’ when Sam quickly scoffed and automatically denied the accusation.
“Why would I want this little shit to the vet just to see someone? That’s absurd,” Sam denied as she grabbed her purse backpack, put it on her back, and opened the door. “But I’ll pick you up some food on my way back.”
Tara knew what that translated: don’t tell the twins, and I’ll give you some ‘hush food.’
“Sounds good! Be nice, Sam. And remember: don’t be silly, wrap your Willy,” Tara joked with a smirk while she walked back into her room and shut her door.
“I don’t need to wrap my Willy, do I, Warner?” Sam asked once she left the apartment and rubbed the dog’s chin. Warner responded with a small yelp while licking Sam’s fingers, agreeing with Sam in his way. “Come on, little guy. Let’s get you to the pretty vet lady,” Sam told Warner while walking toward her car.
She opened her door and sat him on the passenger seat, and naturally, he curled up into a ball and went to sleep. It amazed Sam how much the little shit slept; she was positive he slept at least 14 hours a day and was only awake to torment her. But Sam couldn’t say anything to Tara about it, as she believed Warner was the sweetest little guy out there. The two had that in common: both being little guys who were absolute devils when left by themselves. Sam had lost count of how many shoes he had destroyed, and she also lost count of how many fights Tara started with literal children on Roblox. It was safe to say that Sam was constantly busy between the two, and she only wanted to relax with you.
When Sam arrived at the clinic, she put Warner on his leash, held him just for a safe measure, and walked inside. “Hello, Warner is here for his check-up,” Sam said once she reached the reception desk. “Okay, Doctor Y/N is finishing up an orchiectomy, and then she’ll be right out. You two can have a seat right there while you wait,” the receptionist politely stated as she motioned to the waiting area.
Sam told the lady ‘thank you’ and sat in one of the chairs and Warner in her lap. She’d rather die than let the shit step foot on the ground for even a second, and she was grateful when he went to sleep. Several minutes passed while Sam tried to calm her mysterious nerves, and her phone vibrated, and she scoffed when she read the text message.
Tara: How’s it going with lover girl??
Sammy 👻: Waiting for her to get done chopping the nuts off a dog. Why?
Tara: Ummmm because you seemed way too eager to take Warner to the vet this morning
Sam’s phone vibrated with another message, but she didn’t get to read it when her head instantly shot up when she heard your soft, angelic voice. “Alright, make sure he keeps his cone on and doesn’t do anything too crazy,” you told an old woman who held her dog close to her chest. “Oh, I will, sweetie. Thank you so much,” the old woman replied with a voice that spoke with years of knowledge.
Sam watched as you held the door open for the woman before you turned to Sam, and when your eyes made contact, a giant smile grew on your face. “Where’s the sister?” You asked with a lovesick grin as you walked to Sam and stopped before the sitting woman. “She stayed home. Had a lot of homework to do,” Sam replied as she stood up and held Warner close to her chest. The dog started to wake up, and he whimpered with excitement when he saw you and began to squirm out of Sam’s hold to get to you.
“Hey, little guy,” you said softly as you reached out toward the dog, and Sam eagerly handed him over to you. You gave Warner scratches behind his eye, and he tried to lick your hand in ‘thank you.’ “You can follow me,” you told Sam as you began walking down a hallway and opened a door to an examining room.
Sam sat down in the corner of the room while you sat Warner on the examining table and rolled your chair over to the table. “How has he been since his last visit?” You asked as you put on gloves. “He’s been fine other than being a little shit most of the time,” Sam responded with a slight chuckle as her phone started to blow up with chain messages from Tara.
A small gasp left your lips as you pretended to be shocked, and you tried your best to ignore Sam’s phone. And your heart pinged with jealousy at the thought of someone calling Sam their girlfriend. You covered Warner’s ears and kissed his head, “Don’t listen to her. I bet you’re the sweetest thing ever.” The Latina scoffed at your words, but she enjoyed seeing how Warner loved you and the attention you gave him. She found comfort in that you could display such love for an animal and hoped that one day you could show her the same passion.
“Alright, little guy. Let’s start your exam,” you stated as you gave Warner’s head one final pat before grabbing your stethoscope and putting it in your ears. Sam’s phone continued to receive messages, and you couldn’t take it anymore, and you had to know.
“You got a boyfriend?” You asked while your eyes darted between Sam and her phone, which vibrated with text messages while you held the end of the stethoscope to Warner’s heart.
“Why? You wanna ask me out on a date?” Sam joked with a smile as she tried to hide her nervousness and turned on ‘do not disturb’ on her phone. She had no idea why you would ask her that question unless it pertained to her phone, which was being assaulted with chain messages from Tara.
“Maybe. Do you have a boyfriend?” You questioned with a flirtatious smile as your eyes scanned Sam’s muscular body, and your mind was instantly filled with the thoughts of you and her tangled in bedsheets. You moved the scope to Warner's lungs as you tried to return to reality.
“No,” Sam replied as she raised her eyebrow, trying to see what angle you were playing at.
“You never told me your last name,” you observed while listening to Warner’s breathing with your stethoscope.
“Why do you want to know my last name?” Sam asked with a nervous chuckle, hoping that you didn’t know her name from the Subreddits that accused her of the 2022 Woodsboro murders or that you didn’t read Gale Weathers’ latest book that called her a born killer and mentally unstable.
“Because I want to know what my future last name will be,” you confidently stated with a smirk as your mischievous eyes met Sam’s soft ones. You set down the stethoscope and then placed your hands on Warner’s stomach.
“Moving a bit quick, aren’t we?” The Latina pointed out after a few seconds. Tension filled the air with every second that passed, and even Warner seemed to pick up on it as his small head darted from you to Sam.
“Maybe, but U-Haul lesbians exist for a reason,” you reasoned as you palpitated Warner’s stomach, checking for abdominal pain or masses.
“I guess so. But seriously, why do you want to know?” Sam pressed on, “It’s Carpenter, by the way.”
You already knew her last name was Carpenter from the paperwork she filled out during the first visit; you just wanted to mess with her a little bit. And also find out if she had a boyfriend in the process.
“Because I would like to take you out to lunch sometime,” you said as your eyes refused to meet Sam’s. Any confidence that you had earlier disappeared when you asked the million-dollar question. “Only if you want to go, of course.”
“I would love to go to lunch with you,” Sam replied with a genuine smile, something she wasn’t used to doing. “Sweet! I’ll, um, I’ll give you my number once I finish up with him,” you embarrassingly said as your eyes met with Sam’s, and you smiled when you saw the excitement in hers.
Once you finished Warner's exam, you told Sam that everything was fine and that he should return next year for his next checkup. As you walked Sam out of the clinic, you pulled out a small notepad from your white lab coat and wrote down your number. “You don’t have to call me or anything, but I would like it if you did,” you told Sam with a smile as you ripped out the paper and handed it to her.
Sam gladly accepted the paper and put it in her jeans pocket, “I’ll text you when I get home, Y/N. It was nice to see you.”
“Yeah, likewise,” you responded as you held the front door open for Sam, and she left with Warner climbing over her shoulder and howling at you, telling you that he was going to miss you.
And true to her word, as soon as Sam stepped foot in her apartment, she set Warner down, and he automatically took off to Tara’s room while she texted you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two of you talked every day, and you started to have lunch with each other every Friday. You two would talk about your week and your plans for the weekend while also talking about your personal lives. You told Sam everything about your childhood, and in turn, she started to open up more around you.
During your fourth lunch together, Sam opened up completely about her past. She was terrified that she would drive you away and ruin any chance at having a romantic relationship with you when she told you about her schizophrenia, past drug addiction, her biological father, and how she was in the most previous Ghostface attacks in Woodsboro.
“I knew about the attacks, Sam,” you told the woman once she finished speaking, and you gently reached your hand across the table and took one of hers in yours. You traced soft patterns on her hand with your thumb, “Thank you for trusting me enough to open up about them.”
Sam was dumbfounded at this news. She could not believe that you knew about the attacks but said nothing. “How come you didn’t say anything?” Sam deadpanned as her walls started to come up again, but she allowed you to still hold her hand and trace patterns on her skin.
“Because I figured it was something you would want to tell me on your own time or never talk about it,” you honestly replied, and Sam found comfort in your words as you continued, “I’m sorry if I upset you from keeping that from you. I didn’t know how you would react if you knew that I already knew about some things in your past.”
A dry chuckle escaped Sam’s lips, “I honestly probably would have ran if you would have told me.”
“Well, I’m glad I didn’t then,” you responded with a small laugh, and Sam gave your hand a gentle squeeze, grateful that you didn’t rush anything with her or try and force her to talk about her past.
Things between the two of you changed after that lunch; you two would FaceTime whenever you couldn’t see each other, and you would talk on the phone every night just before bed. The feelings you bore for Sam grew even deeper the more you spent time talking to the woman, and her feelings did the same.
Whenever the two of you didn’t have to work the next day, you would stay the night at the Carpenter apartment, and you were even invited to their game nights every Friday night. You quickly bonded with Mindy and Tara, and sometimes, when Sam was at work, they would invite you over for their horror movie night. You would engage in debates with her, and after enough conversations, you earned Mindy’s approval to date Sam, even though she would never tell you that.
Tara was a bit harder to win over, but when Warner would fight out of her grasp and make his way to you and how the little shit would lick your face as you laughed uncontrollably, she knew you were the one for her sister.
Sam was still the hardest to win over, ultimately. Yes, you were on her mind every second of every day, and she fantasized about what it would be like to wake up with you in her arms every morning and call you hers, but she was still scared of commitment. Sam wanted to love you; she needed to love you, but she was also terrified that you would hurt her in the end. And that is the reason Sam is in this current situation.
“Trust me, Sam. Women are crazy; just ask your sister. Finding the right woman is like finding a needle in a pile of needles: it’s impossibly stupid. But luckily, I have the woman of my dreams,” Mindy exclaimed with her hands, adding extra emphasis to her words while Tara nodded along. Mindy had forced Sam to sit down in the living room and lecture her on dating women, and she also had gathered the women of the group to talk to Sam and convince her to ask you out, whether Sam wanted to or not.
“Don’t try and flatter me after you called all women crazy,” Anika dryly stated. “Sorry, love. But anyway. Sam, you have found yourself a woman who is that needle in a needle stack, so you better not let her go!” Mindy shouted, and Sam shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She hated being the center of attention, especially during this current conversion. She had been with a few women before, but she had never dated one. And Sam also hated getting advice from one of the children she used to babysit.
“Alright, fine, I’ll ask her on a date,” Sam defeatedly said as she pulled out her phone and opened up her messages with you, “what the fuck are you doing?” Mindy questioned as she took Sam’s phone away from her.
“I was going to ask her on a date, just like you told me to,” Sam retorted as she reached for her phone, but Mindy held it away.
“Nope. You have to do it in person. Like a big girl.”
“That was not in the agreement. I have to ask our Y/N, and you never told me how.”
“Well, new rule: you have to do it in person!” Mindy exclaimed as Sam scoffed at the younger girl. “Mindy, we should let Sam do it however she wants. The point is that Sam will ask Y/N out, not how she will do it,” Tara reasoned. Mindy hated to admit it, but the little shit was right.
“Alright, fine,” Mindy huffed as she handed Sam her phone back, “But you better not fumble.”
“I’ll try not to,” Sam replied as she typed out her message to you, ‘Would you like to go on a date with me sometime?’ And she eagerly waited for a text message back as her nerves started to grow. Sam was on the verge of texting you and apologizing, but she saw that you had already responded.
Dog whisperer: Of course!! I was starting to wonder when you would finally ask me ;)
Sam 😮‍💨: Haha, very funny. Want to grab some dinner and come back to my place to watch a movie later today?
Dog whisperer: You don’t even have to ask! I’m free around 6
Sam 😮‍💨: Sounds good! I’ll pick you up then.
The smile on Sam’s face was comical as she texted back and forth with you while ignoring the insults being thrown at her by Mindy. She didn’t care; as long as she had you, she would deal with everything with a smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The date was excellent; you two went to a fancy restaurant, and you had to restrain yourself as Sam wore a tight, black dress that hugged her body perfectly and displayed her muscular arms. You two joked back and forth throughout the dinner, and when it was time to leave, you went to Sam’s apartment.
Sam gave you some more comfortable clothes to change into, and she did the same. You held the shirt to your nose and breathed in the comforting smell of Sam before you realized how weird that was and changed into the clothing. When you came out of the bathroom and joined Sam on the couch, the Latina lost her breath when she saw you in her clothing, and she couldn’t help but wish she could see you in her clothes all the time.
You guys watched shitty romcoms well into the night, and at some point, you fell asleep with your head in Sam’s lap. Not wanting to make you uncomfortable, Sam carefully stood up and placed a pillow underneath your head while she went to the loveseat couch and slept.
For numerous weeks, you and Sam would spend a couple of evenings a month doing that, and eventually, you worked up the courage to place a loving kiss on Sam’s check after you dropped her off at her apartment one evening.
By this time, it was well into December, and Sam was falling in love with you. You two didn’t put any labels on your relationship, but you both had feelings for each other even though neither of you said anything.
“Would you want to go ice skating with me later today?” You asked Sam as you were in her kitchen and helping her wash dishes. You had been invited over for dinner with the core four plus Anika, and while the rest of the group was in the living room watching a basketball game, you stayed in the kitchen to help Sam clean up.
“I would love to, but I have to warn you; I haven’t ice skated before,” Sam responded with a small laugh as she dried off a plate.
“That’s alright. That just means we will have more fun,” you stated with a smirk as you pulled out a dish from the sink and began rinsing it off. “Yeah, it will be so much fun when I fall on my face,” the raven-haired woman joked as she walked over to you and grabbed a plate with her left hand. A surge of boldness shot through Sam as she placed her right hand on your lower back and kept it there, silently waiting for you to push her hand off you. But when you turned to look at her with that soft smile only reserved for her and your eyes quickly glanced down at her lips, Sam moved her right hand even more, wrapped it around your hip, and pulled you close to her.
“I would love to go with you,” Sam whispered as she kissed your head. Long forgetting about the dishes, you dried your hands off and gently cupped Sam’s cheeks as your heart began to pick up its pace. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears as you slowly brought Sam’s face close to yours, and you could feel her breathing against your lips.
“May I kiss you?” You asked against Sam’s lips, and when you felt her nod, you slowly leaned, and you could feel the outline of her lips against yours when Mindy came stomping into the kitchen.
“Do not make out in front of my ice cream cake, you disgusting perverts!” Mindy exclaimed as you and Sam pulled apart at lightning speed. Sam awkwardly cleared her throat as she watched Mindy take a fork, shove it into the middle of the cake, pull out a ginormous slice, and put it on a plate before disappearing back into the living room, but not before sending you two a playful wink.
A few beats of silence passed before you cleared your throat, “So, about that ice skating?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On New Year’s Eve night, you took the group to go ice skating at Rockefeller Center. To say that the trip was a disaster would be an understatement. From Tara skating around like Tonya Harding and then purposely tripping small children that got in her way, to Mindy and Chad refusing to leave the guard rails while Anika tried to pry Mindy away from them.
“Come on, Sam. It’s not that bad,” you stated as you pushed off the rails and skated a few paces away from Sam before making your way back to the woman. “Shut the fuck up,” Sam whispered as her legs started to wobble. Ice skating was something she hated, and she hated you for convincing her to do it.
“Sam, I will hold you up the entire time, I promise,” you declared as you stood in front of her and placed your hands on her hips, “Just do one lap with me and we can call it quits.”
“I fucking hate you, you know that?” Sam whispered but she allowed you to guide her away from the rails. “I know you do,” you replied with a gentle smile as you skated backward while facing Sam. You had never skated backward before, but you would do anything for Sam, and your smile grew even larger when the woman placed her hands on your shoulder and pulled herself closer to you.
The first lap went like a breeze, and Sam was starting to get the hang out of it. She even felt confident enough to have you skate beside her and you two held hands as you went around another lap. You were getting ready to ask Sam to be your girlfriend when she hit a small bump on the ice and started to fall.
“I got you,” you stated as you gripped her forearms and pulled her back to her feet and steadied her. When Sam was finally stable on her feet, she felt her heart burst as she looked at your love struck eyes and hearty smile. “Thank you,” was all she managed to mutter before large shouting echoed throughout the area.
“Ten! Nine! Eight!”
You and Sam looked around and you saw that the ball was about to drop, and you pulled Sam closer to you. Sam smiled as she realized that she might have her first New Year’s kiss with someone she wanted forever and she refused to give that opportunity up.
“Am I allowed to kiss you?” Sam asked as she got closer to you. “You don’t have to ask,” you replied while Sam cupped your cheeks and you gripped her waist and pulled her body against yours.
“Three! Two! One!”
When the crowd reached one and the ball dropped, you sealed the New Year with a kiss from your Sammy. And that kiss contained the promise of years to come.
“Alright now. Break it up you two,” Tara joked as she skated over to you and you placed a quick kiss on Sam’s lips before pulling away. “Is everyone ready to go?” You asked with cheeks that were crimson red as Sam dropped her hands from them and you let go of her waist.
“Yeah, I think so,” Tara responded and you left the area with the group. You and Sam allowed the rest to walk a few paces in front of you, giving you two some privacy to talk. “So,” you said while lacing your fingers with Sam’s and pulling her into your side, “Would you like to officially be my girlfriend?”
Sam squeezed your hand three times and kissed your lips before responding, “I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day.”
Sam tried to push you out and keep you at arm’s length, but you just found your way back in. There were so many things she wanted to say to you, like that you were the first person to hold her without me, but Sam waited until later that night to show you just how much you meant to her.
For all the yans who have to deal with loser reader. How would they feel if loser reader was...well themselves every other day of the year, but on their birthday they damn near worship the ground they walk on? I mean, it's still loser reader so they'd probably still complain about it but they do everything their yan/s say and generally treat them like royalty on their special day
Melon - Yanbot: The most normal about it. All they desire is to wear your clothes and sleep the day away with you. They ask you to accompany them to the grocery store so they can pick out a cake with your favorite flavor and other things they wish they could try, and watch you eat them. They're cheerful year round, but any praise and they'll be over the moon. Sets a countdown until their next "birthday" and replays the recording from that day every night until that day
Elio - Saint Yan: The second most more about it... On the surface. "OH, haha - you don't need to do all this for me. I'm more than happy just having you here...." That's a lie - on all plains but physical they're doing cartwheels." Drags you to stores they'd never go into on any other day and doesn't try on anything until they see your interest peaked. "H-hey Y/n.... What do you think of this choke- I mean collar. It's not for me - it's for my cousins dog! I'm just wearing it for reference.... But um - since it's my day and all... would you call me your good pet and let me fall asleep on your lap?"
Blythe - Yan Angel: The true most normal about it. She appreciates the kind words, but all this gal wants to do is play mini golf and go to as many buffets you can find and fill yourself up on before they kick you out. She's still buying you everything you see as is her sugar mama ways, but she cries, begging you on her knees to use your tickets to buy her a spider ring from whatever arcade you end up at
Tsundere Yan: Fucking finally. Sucks that shit up like a fine soup. Doesn't give a damn about your whining and insists you call them your dearest or they won't answer you at all. Cancels the huge gathering planned and raises their middle finger to whoever tries to complain or lessen their time with you under their will and thumb. If they aren't having your kid by the end of the night there will be riots.
Yan Demon Trio: "Birthday??" "Outta my way, losers." One is the only one with an actual birthday as they were once human. Sure the others were born, but they don't count the day as important. One is living that birthday hype up. They applied to every rewards deal they could find and you are joining them to get their free cake, ice cream, and useless nicknacks. They demain you bake them a cake despite the haul they carry home and devour all it first no matter how terrible it tastes. They honestly miss being human, but it's not all bad since they met you.
The others watch One and want their own free shit day too. As with them - they enjoy the treats but love whatever you give them more. They close out the day with their favorite activity/hobby, draining you completely dry - only you wear whatever they buy you. For One it's some high quality lingerie, Two enjoys those cow bikinis, Three wants you to be their cute bunny - but they get too attached to seeing with the ears and settles for just the suit honestly
I'm trying my best
The gravel sunk under your feet as you took another step, trudging home from school on your way to visit Robin, whom caught you in school asking for more tutoring. Even though you were years older, it was never any hard work to help an old friend, he and you had always been there in each others lives.
With the air starting to grow colder, you took a right onto the neighborhood. The neighborhood lined with 'Missing Children' posters came into view, and automatically you felt claustrophobic, the constant reminder of the quick disappearances of multiple kids who you knew made this street all the worse. No cars, no body outside, and maybe it was bias, but it felt colder there than anywhere else.
You knew you had no choices but to keep walking, you knew Robins house was less than ten minutes and you had already promised him. Taking a deep breath, you continued, making your way around the rigid fence, keeping your head down to not be noticeable. Walking along the fence wasn't bad, until you heard a car door ahead slam shut, and heavy footsteps walking in your direction.
"Why hello! I'm so sorry to bother you on your walk, but you see, I'm supposed to be delivering to this street- uh,, Klerison? Could you point me in the right direction?"
That shouldve been your first red flag. Why didnt he just stay in his car to ask, or go somewhere busier, but it hadnt slipped in your mind yet, so as anyone would, you, uncomfortably walked towards the taller man to help. As you walked on, you noticed he was in peculiar clothing, a black golfing shirt? and an oddly long red undershirt that hugged his neck nicely. His white face paint gave him a stranger look, but the top hat and outfit pull it all together in a weird way.
"Uh yeah, youre gonna wanna go east of here, it'll be near the grocery store off route five."
You could see his smile grow, and his eyes light up, almost as if something else came to mind. You looked up to speak to him, and his eyes darted to yours, holding the gaze till he mentioned something else. His voice soft and jolly while he kept intimidating yet secure eyes on you.
"What a sweet boy! Hey, for that, why don't I give you something nice, as a reward?"
He motioned for you to go to the back with him, and out of kindness you obliged, checking your watch just to make sure you have time.
With a swift opening, the back door of the van opened, and out came a bundle of black balloons.
"You see, I'm a magician, and I thought it'd be nice to give you something from my act,"
He them pulled out the balloons and something else, and began shaking the unknown object. You were slightly freaking out, why would a stranger you so many balloons and why were you still listening to him, but your thoughts were cut short from a quick fist to your jaw with pain shooting everywhere in your face, then a canister spraying something in your mouth.
Your instincts kicked in, late, but still tried to help. Kicking and punching was the go to, but before your body was submerged in the van, you scratched his face and arms in an attempt of escape, but the canisters affect had already started, and you just got weaker, and in the end, fate chose him over you.
Waking up, the first odors that hit you were repugnant. Brass and copper filled your nose before you could process anything else, and you crawled back to escape them, but they just kept swarming you. You tried to open your eyes, but your vision was entirely obscured, blurry surroundings only made your heart race, but not as much when you saw a figure sitting at the edge of your ratty mattress.
"Fucking bitch, I should've hit you harder, you see what you did to me?"
You stared blankly at his wound, for some reason it was still open and he hadn't bandaged it, maybe for shock value, but for now your head was pounding, and all you could do was stare. His voice was harder and raspier, a huge change from the man you met asking for directions. But he soon closed his eyes and took a deep breath before looking back at you.
And as moments passes, his body language changed, and he put a hand out to you, a forgiving aura overcame the room in an instance. The outreached hand touched your hair gently, in a caring manner, and you could see him admiring your face. You had no choice but to sit, and with this spared time, you glanced at him. His face covered by a hand crafted devil mask, smiling cruelly at you. You assumed its purpose was to scare, and it was getting the job done, you were frozen as a stranger caressed you in his strange basement.
"I'm sorry, my anger got ahold of me, I don't want to scare you dove. I just wanted to make sure you're ok."
You just nodded, but that seemed to satisfy him, better than when you just stared.
"Well, how about as a present, I'll get you a soda- and maybe a new shirt, yours has a pesky little stain from earlier!"
The magician giggled as he got up, smiling behind the mask. His body motion was slow and prolonging, like he didn't want to leave, but as quick as he came into your life, he brightly stepped out of it, locking the metal door to leave you to your thoughts.
Days had come and gone from your meeting, and he had visited more times than you could count, some of which you weren't awake for, and you and him had gotten to know each other quite a bit. But you did notice that when he wasn't present, he left the door unlocked, maybe it was a trap, maybe he's forgetful, either way, you began scheming.
You had started to pick up on his little game, and you were holding out for just long enough to push him over the brink of exhaustion, him being passed out on the chair gave you perfect way to the door behind him, no lock, and still a way out. You needed to get outside, you could feel your mind slipping and you started to become fond on your kidnapper, and that terrified you.
The night came, and you knew it. In the morning he was distraught and anxious, he lingered longer than usual, watching you eat the breakfast he made, making light talk. He was cracking, and it was something to take advantage of.
You began by opening the door bit by bit. Tonight, he decided to try the game again, but you outstayed him as the night ran longer. Hearing his fragile sleep, you knew to be quick. You slowly unlocked the wooden door, and as suspected, the man was there, belt in right hand, shirt unbuttoned, but dead asleep. Taking careful steps, you brushed passed him, and got your hand on the door handle, twisting it open without a creak, and stepping out.
There was something you didn't take account for,
He had installed a security system for the doors, alarming when someone has been seen outside, and sending a ping to house phone.
Within the moment of hearing the phone ring, you ran, and it didn't take long for him to realize it was you either.
The wind whipped against your face as you booked it from his backyard to the streets, your lungs burning from the sudden amount of physical movement, you hadnt really done anything besides sit in the basement. Your feet were soaring for the first time in ages and you made it onto the sidewalk, and you felt free, the outside of a basic neighborhood had never looked so sweet. Your panting had gotten louder, but that didn't drown the sound of heavy- and angry footsteps behind you.
With a house in reach, you thought you were fine, but as you were taken back and slammed to the grass, right before you had the chance to make it in view of a houselight.
The mans legs soon found their way pinning you down, and a hand went across your hip, then the other fished something out of his pocket.
"SOMEBODY PLEASE-"
You quickly found out the item, a knife found its way to your neck and pressed hard, giving you an unspoken warning.
"If you say one more thing I will not hesitate to fucking show you how far this knife can go into your throat."
His panting was directed onto your shoulder to keep quiet as he frantically held you down, he watched as the houses slowly lost interest and shut off their lights.
His legs soon maneuvered to on top of you, and now you were completely under him, his weight wasn't there for long, as he re-enacted a familiar scene, and raised a fist, landed it against your head, then having your vision quickly send a goodbye. A sense of impending doom rested in your stomach as you felt him in your last moments awake picking you up.
Waking up wasnt only hell from your migraine, but you also found that you were not alone. An angry, but anxiety induced devil mask stared at you, and when you rubbed your eyes, it stood up and clapped his hands once.
"What a lovely stunt from a lovely boy."
You could tell his breathing was hard, and his fists were clutched, shaking ever so slightly, but his raspy voice while speaking only made you tremble while looking up at him. He, however, wasted no time in confronting you, walking right onto your mattress, and sitting infront of you, quickly grapsing your wrist and pulling you towards him. His hot breath once again hitting you. He was grasping your wrists tightly, not letting you get away again.
"Why did you- No! Nothing was right, why did you run? We are fine here! You, you are mine here, nothing else can free you from that, so why not just make it a comfortable living?"
To your surprise, he was upset, not in the way you suspected. He was offended by what you did, intrigued and aggravated that you tried to leave him. Without a warning, he pulled you into him and just held you, feeling that you were there and basking in the moment. He sighed and picked you up,
"Thank god I'm here protecting you, you scraped yourself, lets go get ice and a bandaid."
As he firmly guided you to the stairs, you saw the belt lying on the table with a reminder next to it that described a crude fate that awaited you, and you knew that if you're going to live, you'd have to get friendly with him
What do you think Matty would be like in very early stage of relationship like before you make it official ?
Oh my gosh, I hadn’t really thought about this before. But….hmmm. Off the top of my head?
I think he would be very shy and soft. Like, he would be blushing every time you paid him a compliment or attempted to flirt or something. And would look at you with admiration and awe and be like “you really think so?” Or “really?” Like he can’t believe you like something about him.
After hanging out / going on,like, your second or third date, as he’s dropping you off/ walking you home he would be like “May I call you tomorrow? What time works best for you?”
He would text you later to tell you what a good time he had. When he does call, as promised, after the initial pleasantries and asking about your day, he would just be like “when can I see you again?” And you’d collaborate on planning the next date.
He will remember tiny details about things you like, things you’ve told him about yourself, important dates coming up for you. Like, maybe you mentioned growing up near a farm and liking ducks or something, so he gets you a toy duck the next time he sees you. Or you casually mentioned not being able to stay up late one evening cuz you had an important thing at work. You’ll wake up to a text from him wishing you luck on the work thing.
He’ll still be bold and hot about it though. Like he will look you dead in the eyes and say that he “can’t stop thinking about you.”
He’ll hold your hand when walking through crowded spaces.
He’ll fuss over every detail of his clothes or his hairstyle and change a million times and try out a different way of doing his hair and scrutinize everything about himself before the date, but when he shows up in his leather jacket and his jeans and bold shoes, he walks in with such confidence that it never occurs to you that this same man just spent the past 3 hours debating whether or not funny graphic tees from vintage stores were date appropriate.
He asks permission before touching you, if you’re at the kissing stage, he also asks for verbal consent before doing it cuz he doesn’t think you’re at a stage where just kissing you randomly is okay.
He asks really invested questions about your family, your best friend, pet, or anyone/anything that you’ve made clear is significant to you, and remembers the info. “Did your sister get that promotion she was stressed about?” “How’s your dad’s new golf hobby?” “Have your friend and her husband settled on a name for the baby yet? Aww that’s so cute!”
He’d willingly share his favorite books, authors, artists, music, etc with you and want to know your take on them if you also enjoy them/ know of them.
He’d get really heated about socio-political issues that he cares about and then apologize about it. “Not trying to be woke or whatever. That’s boring. You don’t want me explaining the world to you, right?” Lmao.
He’d tell you stories about the guys and smile to himself when you say stuff like “Adam…he’s the one with the baby, yeah? The dad?” “Ross is the bassist with the perfect smile and the perfect hair.” He’s Matty though so he’d be like “what am I then?”
“The short one.”
He’d lend you his jacket when going for a walk but also undermine the gesture by pointing out how cliche it is.
Mid-hang out, and for absolutely no reason, he’d tell you that he’s having the best time with you.
He’d smile to himself every time you text him or any time that he says your name out loud and the boys would tease him so much about it. “What can I say, I think I really like her…” he’d blush.
Chapter 1: How it started
"The strategy is all off..."
You're on your phone at Mitsuwa (grocery store near your place), trying to juggle 3 things at once: 1) running a work call with one of your direct reports on their latest proposal submission 2) reaching for the kale from the produce section 3) holding onto the leash of your now 6-month old puppy, Bibi.
Since your team is fully remote, you've had some time in the day to go out to the driving range to hit a few baskets of balls. You've changed into your Birkenstocks that show off your fading sock tan line from last summer but are still in your golf skirt and t-shirt.
And now, you're grocery shopping for what you need to make for your friend's dinner party on Sunday to celebrate the start of summer.
You feel a sudden tug on Bibi's leash and turn around to see that she's disappeared with her collar sitting on the ground. Your heart drops and you abruptly end your work call by saying, "Send me the revised report that incorporates all the feedback tomorrow."
With your heart beating almost out of your chest at this point, you grab your bag from the shopping cart and start shouting, "Bibi, Bibi," as you run and scan each aisle.
Aisle 1...no Bibi. Aisle 2...no Bibi. Aisle 3...there she is, the little mischievous baby! So mischievous that she's fully basking in the attention a crouched man is giving her by laying at his feet as he rubs her belly. He's giggling (it's a soft, child-like giggle) as she continues to wiggle and lick his hands, encouraging him to continue with the belly rubs. He's saying things to her you can't understand.
"Bibi!" you yell and run up to the duo, oblivious to the panic you've experienced in the last 4 minutes.
You grab her from the man's feet and look at her in the eyes, telling her, "I was so worried," with tears pooling at the the bottom of your eyes.
You nudge your face into her fur, and she gives your face a playful lick with her tail still wagging. Clearly, she was not feeling the same panic.
You look up and realise the man stood up and was watching you both. Whoa he's tall, you thought. You really had to crank your neck up to make eye contact. He's wearing a cap and his hair is sticking out at the edges.
"I-" "Sor-" (you both start at the same time and laugh).
You pause, giving the man a smile and say, "Ahhh sorry for the trouble with Bibi - she totally escaped while I was on a call just now. I really appreciate you holding her here!"
His eyes crinkle as he smiles and gives looks to Bibi as if she is a baby. Damn, his aegyosal is strong, you think to yourself.
He replies to you politely and says, "It's okay. Happy to help. I have a dog like her too." You thank him again and turn around with Bibiin your arms.
"You're only going to be sitting in the cart from now on," you whisper into her fur.
Sunday
You bring your kale salad to your friend Lo's summer party with Bibi in tow. The party was at her beachfront house in Newport just a few minutes away from your place. Dogs always welcome, she texted you.
To be honest, you didn't have many friends in the area because you had just moved to the area for a change of scenery recently. Living in San Francisco previously, you always knew you wanted to give the SoCal life a try so you spontaneously moved to Newport Beach recently upon recommendation from your network.
Lo was one of the friends you made when you arrived. She was a distant friend of one of your closest friends from university. You found her to be one of the more genuine people in Newport and having many similar interests like golf made it easy for you both to click instantly. And food - you both would joke that she was an amazing chef, and you were an amazing taster of food (a match made in heaven, really).
She shared her house with her long-term boyfriend who was part of the sports world...you really had no interest in any sports besides golf so you didn't even recall what it even was.
You walk towards the door and ring the bell. The weather is perfect today and makes you so happy. You're excited to meet more people in the area!
Lo's boyfriend, Tyler opens the door and gives you a big hug.
"Here, let me take the plate. Thanks for bringing this," he says with a grin.
"I'm excited for the rest of the food. Lo's been teasing me all week with her menu," you reply.
You take off Bibi's leash as she runs into the house. Both you and Tyler follow inside to meet Lo in the kitchen.
"Everyone's seated! Let's go say hi and start eating," says Lo with a large grin as she gives you a big hug.
In the other room, you hear a familiar laugh. Where did I hear that laugh before? you think to yourself.
Tyler, Lo, and you both turn the corner, and you see Bibi playing her heart out with a dog similar to her. They look literally like brother and sister!
You giggle and look up to wave to the rest of the party. To your surprise, it's just one man seated at the table.
You both make eye contact and have a flashback to a few days earlier.
The grocery aisle. It's the man from the grocery store.
Do me a favour and skip reading this pls it really sucks but I don't want to delete it thanks love you
PS modern AU where Vanthiyathevan and Arulmozhi are cops
.
.
.
The noon sun brings about a lot of change in our surroundings. Kids are dragged back home from the field, the elders skip their errands with the excuse of the afternoon noon sun, grocery stores, coin shops and even the banks close for lunch time. In this deserted timing, one man had decided to go about his work. He stood in a narrow, stinky alley at the backdoor of a store, fiddling with and picking a lock. His sweat had plastered his thin hair onto his pate.
"I should start bringing stones instead of pins and screws. It would be easier to break these bloody locks without being noticed."
*mud brick falls inches away from his head*
"Olll! Just bachao. Who's that dimwit up there?!"
*few gravel pieces fall and hit Thirumalai's back*
"Vishnu, looks like my demise is certain today. Who is that I say?!"
*hefty black cat leaps onto him*
"Ayyyy, chee get lost!" *throws a half torn tennis ball from the dumpster to shoo it*
*shiva stotram starts playing followed by bells ringing*
"Go bother that shaivite sinner, who performs the Aarti at meal time. Let me go about my work."
*lock unclicks* *Thirumalai hurries in and locks the door* *stares at the cat which followed him inside* *staring intensifies*
"MEEAAOOWW!!" *shuts door after kicking it out*
"Let's see..."
MEANWHILE
"Do we use the front or back door?"
"Obviously back doo-"
*sees cat growling at them near a dumpster* *VT gulps*
"Front. Front is good."
"Alright" replies Aru quickening his pace back to the front door.
"Do we sneak in or take him by surprise?" He asks VT looking back.
*interrupted by loud growls of an animal and a man howling*
"Oh boy, is that Thirumalai?"
"Looks like someone else took him by surprise"
*Both rush to the back entrance*
"Sadhu sadhu, violence against a Vaishnava. You'll face my wrath if you come close to me!!" Thirumalai was yelling at the well agitated cat who'd already marked its claws on his arms and back.
*Whips out golf club* *Begins to slash at the cat* *cat clings to his feet and scratches them *Thirumalai flings the cat from his feet, which lands into Arulmozhi's arms*
*Record player stops abruptly*
"Nambi?"
"Thambi?"
"You're the golf club thief?"
"You're.....you're a police officer?"
"I have mentioned SEVERAL times."
"Well true, but there's a lot of other things you've lied about"
*VT sighs* *Nambi sighs* *Readers confused* *Aru equally confused* *Cat comfy*
"Vanthiyare sorry to interrupt your reunion but *raises handcuffs*, first?"
"Oh shit right, Nambi hands behind your back please. Nambi? NAMBI?"
*sees Nambi running away at a far distance*
"BRUH."
"At his pace, we don't even need to run to catch him" Aru says still stroking the cat in his arms.
"Peaceful."
*Sees Nambi hop onto his Yulu e-bike*
"OKAY we should run."
*pistah mode activated*
"writers note: I've based this entire story to fit this one song in here, you better listen."
*arulmozhi yeets cat* *VT trips on shoelace*
*both run behind Thirumalai for 2 minutes 44 seconds straight, toppling vegetable carts and ramming into lehenga draped mannequins on the street side. Thirumalai's Yulu drains out and stops running, and before he can get off of it he's caught and pinned to the ground.*
*Aru huffs* "Nambi you're under arrest." *handcuffs click*
30 minUtEs LaTeR
At the station.
Arulmozhi and Vandiyathevan are seated next to each other, opposite Nambi who's slurping on his coffee from a tiny paper cup.
"Nambi, you're a good man. A deep believer. Then why partake in robbery? Why golf clubs?"
"Thambi, it is to protect my belief that I rob."
"What?" Vandiyathevan asks confused.
"These shaivites nowadays are getting out of hand, they will not let me go about my day in peace, neither will they allow me to worship. *pats head with hanky* So I teach them a lesson, with my golf clubs."
*Aru and VT are even more confused*
"I use these clubs as a staffs. To beat them up."
*Vandiyathevan nods at Arulmozhi, and pulls chair closer to Nambi*
"Nambi, you tell us the truth and worst case scenario, you're locked up here for a week and are let out. But if you go about spinning these fake tales..."
"Thambi why would you doubt me-"
"Che if there was a lake here I would've thrown you to the crocodiles. But alas...."
*Nambi gulps the fear creeping into him*
"...guess you'll have to make do with this tank for now"
*grabs Nambi by neck and pushes him into an aquarium*
"Nambi gurgles under water for help*
*VT pulls Nambi's head out*
"Thambi I swear, it was for no other reason"
"Lies. Again. Let's see if your god can cleanse out all the lies from your throat and get out the truth. That fish right there, swallow it right now"
*Pushes head back into tank*
*Arulmozhi intervenes*
"HEY VT ENOUGH. Enough."
*Pulls Nambi's head out*
"Thirumalai, I will ask you once and once only. And you tell me the truth. Otherwise we'll tag all the stray robbery cases we have on you, and grind you here for the next year or so."
*Nambi reclines on the Nilkamal chair, still gasping for breath and wiping his face on his sleeve*
*A tinge of seriousness creeps into his voice*
"Sir, the lies are much believable compared to my truth. I don't go from store to store just to rob a golf club. If that was my intention I'd rob piles of clubs at once. I'm an appointed spy, and it is why I rob to cover up my spying missions."
"Spy? You? Aru I think it's better you let me handle this man."
"Thambi, please believe me this one time. Listen to me whole, and you can do whatever you please with this old man. You can check every store I've robbed from, on the interior of the office room of the store, you'll find a microphone attached to the bottom of desks and inside cupboards."
"Who do you spy for" asks Aru bringing everyone back to the topic.
"The vice chairperson of a huge builder group."
"....Nambi we'd like some names-"
"Just a while sir, you'll figure out the names by yourself" Arulmozhi was now even more confused.
"I spy and deliver all the messages weekly in private at their family club"
"Why would a builder group need someone to spy for them? Thirumalai at this point I'm leaning towards believing Vandiyathevan."
"There's internal backstabbing in the family sir. The founder is an old and ailing man, and the rest of the family sit all day around him brainwashing him to change his will in their favour."
*Arulmozhi huffs and gets off chair*
"Thirumalai, you aren't giving us clear answers, you won't give us names. Yet you continue to spin fable like tales. You claim to be a spy, claim to spy for a "huge builder group", claim to attach microphones at every store you rob from. Instead you could just tell us the truth and get away from this mess. Neither do I have enough time nor do I have the patience."
*A car zooms to the front of the police station and parks*
"It sounds unbelievable Thambi" says Nambi "It is always unbelievable when your own people back stab you"
Arulmozhi could now sense softness In Nambi's voice. Was he being sympathetic to him? Why?
Vandiyathevan cocked his eyebrow at Arulmozhi, to look at who was getting out of the car. Arulmozhi was slowly beginning to see the whole picture. A fellow cop rushed into the room where Aru, VT and Nambi sat.
"Sir, Sembiyan Devi of TNJ group is requesting to meet you."
If this were any other day, even if it was his father waiting, Arulmozhi would go out to meet him, only after a successful interrogation. But today, maybe the one to provide the answers was the one waiting in the lobby. Sembiyan Devi, Wise Chairperson of TNJ groups, the lady Nambi spied for, who also happened to be........well Arulmozhi's grandmother.
"Please let her in" ordered Arulmozhi still hazy about what was going on. Sembiyan Devi looked first at Nambi and then at Arulmozhi. "Thirumalai, are you fine? Hope you weren't hurt?"
"I'm very well my lady." Replied Nambi shifting his glance to Arulmozhi, indicating that he knew half the secrets.
Sembiyan Devi walked upto Arulmozhi and placed her hand over his shoulder. "Come home son. We'll speak about it then. For now please let Thirumalai go." She looked back to see both Thirumalai and Vandiyathevan "Both of you please come home today evening. Whatever is to be cleared, will be cleared today, *turns back to Aru* and even then if you feel what Nambi did was a crime, you can take further actions."
Saying so she walked out of the station, got into her car and drove away.
.
.
.
Idk with what mind I mentioned that Nambi was a golf club thief, but it could clearly lead nowhere else. And that is why after an eternity i could come up with some bs to take this forward. This was supposed to be an absolutely bull shitty, comical story, but unfortunately it's taking a serious turn. We'll change that. Hope y'all liked it
Peace ;)
what about…the clones as people you’d see in the airport at 3pm on a tuesday*?
*assuming non-holiday week
This is ironic because next Tuesday I will be at the airport at 3pm on a work trip! Are you secretly my boss? 👀 If so, I deserve a raise!
Rex- Carrying coffee around for hours. Has probably hit starbucks 4 different times already and their wait time for their flight is only 2 hours
Echo- An oddly specific one. Blonde haired, messy bunned girl wearing a white t-shirt, black athetic shorts OR grey sweatpants, wearing birkenstocks, carrying a vera bradley backpack and a rolling bag, with her travel pillow hanging around her neck. I see them every time! Just pure absolute comfort
Fives- that one asshole sleeping on the ground with their legs sticking out and their hood up.
Jesse- Deer in headlights, first time traveler who has a PAPER TICKET with them. Bless these adults
Kix- The person whose phone is cranked up and they are talking and laughing loudly on it as they wander
Tup- no hesitation business traveler who has no problem running you over on the moving sidewalk to get to the business lounge.
Dogma- mentions to the clerk they have preboarding like 5 different times and asks to make sure they will be first to let on
Hardcase- the bachelorette party coming back from an extended weekend in Miami.. literally the worst flight experience of my life
Coric- The person running across 4 terminals with all of their belongings to catch their next flight because they thought flying into atlanta with only an hour between flights was plenty of time
Bly- the annoying couple walking in front of you slowly with their wheelie bags and holding onto one another. If you miss your flight because of them its totally okay to steal their wedding rings.
99- the airport worker in the golf cart. idk why, but hes always there
Cody- Flight attendants/pilots that are quickly shuffling around the airport to their next flight. they travel in a fucking pack
Waxer/Boil- Mom with a toddler who cannot keep them entertained. pushing them around the airport in a stroller, giving them constant snacks and toys, and having to watch them pick it up everytime their child throws it and cackles
Wolffe- The very tired customer service rep at the flight desk.
Boost/Sinker- Same as Kix BUT sitting next to you at the gate while waiting for your flight
Hunter- The dad who thought it would be cheaper to take a family trip in the middle of the week so him, his wife, and their five kids are going through checklists, looking at pamphlets, and talking while they wait to board.
Wrecker- The loud kid asking everyone questions and running all over the terminal while their parents just ignore it.
Tech- The dude sitting right in the middle of the outlet area near your gate and hogging the whole fucking table. I hate these guys
Crosshair- The group of people who bought plane tickets, but did not reserve their seats so they are now asking everyone at the gate if they will trade so they can sit next to their friends. No maam I paid an extra few $$ to pick my seat I will not trade you.
Omega- The influencer. Look, I love Omega but there is some serious influencer vibes there. selfies all over the airport
Howzer- the security guard that keeps following me around. I know I didnt do anything illegal but seeing the same one over and over again keeps making me second guess myself. like i dunno AM i actually smuggling drugs?
Fox- The group of guys sitting at the airport bar!
Gregor- The man with literally all the snacks. Seeing him at every convenience store in the airport (thats me)
A road trip to Savannah
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over the weekend me and my husband went on a long awaited trip down to Savannah, Georgia. It has been on my bucket list for quite some time now, as a lover of history. The first hurdle for our trip was the drive, so we decided to stop over in Wilmington NC, a five hour drive from our home in Virginia. On the way, we couldn’t help but stop for lunch at Chapel Hill, NC where we shopped at one of my favorite book stores, flyleaf books. The used book selection is amazing and the books they recommend are pretty and modern. We stopped for lunch at this place called KoKyu which was a ghost kitchen type store, which had good food but unfortunately no indoor seating so sitting outside in the heat was rough.
Our first night in Wilmington, we stayed at the Graystone Inn, a beautiful lodging near to the river and the main street. We did have to park a few blocks down the street at their sister inn, which wasn’t too much of a hassle. It was either that or on the busy street which was already taken by other cars. The room was spacious but the TV didn’t have many options in terms of cable and the shower had this weird effect on the eyes. The main street of Wilmington, at sunset, was fun to walk around. We went to the museum of the bizarre, which was a cute quirky museum located on the riverfront. It was small and had a mirror maze which cost a bit extra. If you are interested in cryptids or have a morbid curiosity, this would be for you, taking up only ten minutes of our time.
The next day we stopped at Wrightsville beach before we got on the road to Savannah, stopping at a donut inn for a coffee and a donut. The donuts were decent but unremarkable. The beach was pleasant enough but we felt pretty rushed as it was pay to park, and we refused to do that for a brief amount of time. I always figure that beaches should also have taps to clean off sandy feet and this could have benefitted from that. The road to Savannah from Wilmington was a very boring drive taking the interstate and the highway. We did stop at a Bucc-ees in Florence, South Carolina, but were overwhelmed by the amount of people and the size. The lunch we got there, the wrap and the sandwiches were actually pretty good, my favorite being the chicken sandwich.
Our first place to visit in Savannah was Fort Pulaski, which was a old civil war fort with a moat. It was pretty similar to the other forts we have seen, but was still worth seeing with pretty views and is set up well. We didn’t spend too long here but could have spent more if we read all the placards. Afterwards, we headed to the legendary Bonnaventure cemetery. It was gorgeous and a lovely walk, but make sure to bring water as we struggled. There seemed to be a lot of tours, by walk or golf cart that was happening at the same time we got there. They did sound pretty interesting when we walked by. These tours seemed to be pretty common in Savannah as we would constantly see tour trolleys and walking tours throughout the city.
Next we headed to the Hyatt regency, Savannah which was on river street. We were going to initially park in the self parking garage they recommended if you didn’t want to park Valet, but unfortunately it was full at the time. It was much nicer than the other Hyatt Regency we stayed at which was located in Charleston, West Virginia, as it didn’t smell like smoke. However, returning later there was a weird smell in the hallway but that did not seep into our clean and nice room. Whilst not as nice a room as the Graystone, it was in a nice location and we could look directly over the river, which was not that clean or exciting of a view, but was super cool when late at night we saw two large container ships pass right by. The horn did freak us out a bit as we thought the AC was broken. The AC was loud, as they tend to be, which I don’t tend to like.
A walk down river street didn’t really impress me much, it was filled with a lot of drunk people and tacky souvenir shops and the city smelt awful. We dined at Vics River Grill where we had:
 Crab beignets which were good
 Fried green tomatoes which was also really good,
She crab soup which I’m always a sucker for, which was really good,
Catfish and Grits which we didn’t really like that much, however they nicely split it  in two for us.
We walked down the mainstreet for a bit, where I stopped into a nice comic book shop, Odin and Sons, where I bought two comics. The guy at the counter was really nice and he commented that one of the comics I got, Monstress by Marjorie Liu and drawn by Sana Takeda, was really good. We were going to try Leopolds, but were shaken off by the line. When returning to the hotel, we found out that the hotel sells the ice cream in pints and smaller pottles, which was a lifesaver. I got the peanut butter chippy which was really really good. Savannah was really busy the whole time we were there.
In the morning we stopped by at Collins Quarter, where I got a chai latte and a salmon bagel. I enjoyed the bagel but wondered what the capers really added to the dish, and the chai latte was not as good as the mix you get at Trader Joe’s. It’s also described as Australian but I didn’t see much of Australia in the dishes, being from its smaller neighbour, myself. We headed to Forsyth park where they were setting up the Saturday morning farmers market which had music, and a few cute stalls of people selling food and art. We got a milk and honey popsicle from a cart there, and walked around. The popsicle was very good; it had a subdued taste.The Collin’s Quarter there had a very long line for so early in the morning. The park was fairly busy with people playing sports. It was a very pretty walk with a lot of old buildings and pretty parks. We stopped to take pictures of some churches and buildings, primarily the Basilica, which later was open and could go inside, which was absolutely recommended as it was gorgeous.  After walking around Forsyth park we walked to Colonial Cemetery, which had placards to read of the people buried there which I think would have been a cool addition to the other cemetery we went to before, Bonnaventure. There was a few tours here and it seemed to be a popular stop on the tour trolleys. We did find a cute market near the cemetery which was mildly busy, where we could buy water, Parker’s market. The houses around here were pretty. Our first tour we would take would be at the Mercer Williams house which is famous for In the garden of good and evil, and the location for swamp thing and return of swamp thing. There’s a cute shop which sells jelly cat plushies, which are adorable, where you buy your ticket, be here quickly as apparently it sells out very quickly. If we had not gone there at ten we wouldn't have been able to do the first 10:30 tour. The tour guide was informative and funny but the house itself was very small. If it wasn’t used as a filming location or had its history I don’t know if it would have been worth it. Then we popped into E Shaver bookstore, where I bought a lot of books, there was some great modern books on display, but was really busy. We also popped into the book lady bookstore, which had a few used books and I saw a couple of books I really enjoyed, but none that jumped out to me. We also tried to go to books on bay but I think they were closed permanently or we couldn’t find the door.
We knew lunch would be hard to find with the amount of people and we found a spot at Treylor park which was decent. After lunch we headed to Owens thomas house and slave quarters, which gives self guided tours after 2, since this was before two we got a really nice tour guide who showed us through the house, which exterior was getting some work and had scaffolding up. The house inside itself was decent and played a big focus on symmetry. The ticket price was fifty dollars which gets you into their other two museums Telfair academy, which had gorgeous art, and their other art museum which was more contemporary and small, which I didn’t really think was worth it. There was an interactive art where you could touch this net and colours would show, and a family seemed to enjoy it.  We walked through city market which by then was filled with drunk people and stopped by the dry museum which was totally worth it. Me and my husband do not drink but it was so cool to see the history of one of the most interesting time periods. At the end of it there is a active speakeasy which I thought was a cool addition, but smelt very heavily of beer.
We went down river street to pick up some candy from the candy company and stopped by the graveface museum, which focused on morbid curiosity. This was a dark museum, and was not busy when we went, making it quite awkward. They were adding another space as well, a glimpse into the space looked pretty cool. I don’t think I would recommend this one, unless you are super into Serial Killers. Afterwards we waited in line for Ghost and Gravestones, a trolley ghost tour at night. Our trolley we were going to use was broken which led to some confusion and delay but we were on holiday, so it didn’t really matter.  This was a good way to see the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace house, as it goes through it and there is a doll room which I guess you could find creepy. Someone else on the tour did say they felt a ghost in the house. The trolley tour was pretty funny and had some interesting ghost stories. Then they lead you to some place in river street where you are told more ghost stories including a sad one about a child. This segment of the tour is really funny and had the whole group laughing. It didn’t last very long but me and my husband are not night owls. Whilst on the tour we did see another hearse tour which also looked pretty fun. Then we tried Leopold's ice cream again but no luck, as the line was just as long. Savannah felt pretty safe around 9pm with all the crowds.
The next morning was time to leave Savannah and I was pretty sad to leave. I had a really fun time just walking around the town. My husband was excited to take me to breakfast at the original pancake house, which he loved when we went to Charlotte, NC. The waitress did forget his toast but we both enjoyed our breakfasts. I had the pancake sampler of berry peach and banana. We made plans to stop in either Augusta, GA or Colombia SC on our way to our last stop, Greenville and we decided Augusta might have been the best choice. Since we didn’t go to Colombia I can’t say if this was the best choice or not, but I think we should have chosen Colombia instead as the town was empty. Keep in mind that this was a Sunday so a lot of people were in church and businesses were closed but I just didn’t really enjoy the feel of the main street. We stopped into the book tavern where I bought Eva evergreen by Julia Abe. This bookstore was cute and the cashiers were informative about the local coffee shops and what was open.  They said that New Moon cafe was open and my husband got a sweet tea and a coffee and I got a raspberry milkshake. Now my milkshake was nice and creamy but didn’t really taste like raspberry, just like vanilla ice cream with an afterthought of berry, and my husband really liked his sweet tea but did not care for the coffee.
After a few more hours of driving we finally landed in Greenville, SC. It was also super busy. We ended up eating at Willy taco and though we didn’t really enjoy their fried green tomatoes we enjoyed the rest of the food. I liked their queso but it was really runny. The tacos were good but a bit forgettable. We decided to stop in at the local 2nd and Charles. I remember the first 2nd and Charles in Charlotte was nice but the more we went there the more disappointing it was. I did pick up You’ve reached Sam by Dustin Thao. The next stop was a mid size book store called Mr Ks used books. I did really enjoy this book store and bought quite a bit. They seem to have their best books at the front of the book store, as their shelved books were a bit older.
Downtown Greenville was busy when we arrived but it wasn’t too hard to navigate, until we ended up at the wrong hotel. The next hotel was Hyatt Place. I enjoyed this room more than I enjoyed the Hyatt regency. The room had a nice couch and had proper cups and glasses and was just nicer. It was in a really good location. We then went out and walked the main street stopping by M. Judson booksellers. This was in a really pretty location. I picked up two books. Some books were modern and some were released last year. The book selection was pretty but not much caught my eye. The main street was pretty but a lot of the stores we had already seen in Savannah including the candy company. We stopped by marble slab creamery for an ice cream, and I thought it was decent. Walking past, Jenni’s ice cream was much busier and had quite a line, and I wish we had gone there instead. The river area of Greenville was really pretty, and seemed like a great hangout spot.
On the way back home we made two stops, one to walk Blacksburg, a place we have wanted to do for a while. It felt very much like a very small college town with a very small bookstore on the main street, Blacksburg books, which had a few signed copies of some interesting books, and a very small used book section. For lunch we hopped on over to Roanoke, Crystal Spring grocery, which gave you a lot of fries. It was a decent meal.
Overall I’m sure I missed some of Savannah, I would definitely go back there, and to Willmington. I would love to do the battleship in Wilmington and the river boat tour in Savannah.
A squad of frisbee golfers took this short cut with their kids in tow. They were 1 or 2 decades my junior but they were mostly dark haired guys with beards so I wasn’t surprised when one of their kids kept walking beside me humming “Head like a hole” after the rest of the party turned up that trail. I looked down at her, smiled & said “No, honey. They’re headed up that way.” The last two golfers in the procession laughed as she hurried to catch up with them:
Children’s chalk art. There was a lot of it on this stretch of the walking path since it runs right by an elementary school. This bit looked the coolest to me - a girl & an Impostor from Among Us:
Phil can't tell if it's from the cold or from how they're standing nearly on top of each other in the tiny lift.
“Thanks,” he says. His voice is slightly raspy and his body feels very warm where Dan touched him. The lift door opens and they pile out. Dan nods, smiling just enough that his dimple pops as he fumbles in his pocket for his key. He shoves it into the keyhole and rattles the doorknob until it twists and the door falls open.
“Welcome,” he says, gesturing his way into the flat dramatically, “to my humble abode.”
