Author's note: just a little Gibbs idea I've had in mind. Maybe I'll get back to writing for him more... :) maybe it's because I'm binging NCIS from the beginning again. I tried to keep it as gender neutral as possible, hope I did well. Also, it's not proofread and I'm not a native English speaker.
Summary: you're babysitting your brother's twins by yourself and ends up calling for help.
Warnings: age gap, I guess?, talk of near death experience, taking care of babies, reader not wanting kids, siblings banter
Babysitting ~ Leroy Jethro Gibbs
"Are you sure you're up for this?"
"Seriously? It's the fourth time you're asking. We're gonna be just fine!" You reassured your brother, as you're sitting on the play mat your ten months old nephew and niece. If you were completely honest, you were a bit anxious about babysitting the twins all by yourself as it was the first time. But you couldn't let your brother know that, as he was already struggling to leave.
"All you have to do is feed them, change their diapers at some point and put them to bed." He got down to pick up his daughter, finally saying goodbye.
"I promise they will be alive and in one piece when you come back. Hopefully, tomorrow morning." You grinned at him before grabbing your nephew and gentle holding him on his feet. "Now go daddy, have fun." You said with a baby voice, like it was your little dude saying it. After one more kiss to his girl, he put her down and did the same with his son.
"It's just a work thing." He told you for the umpteenth time.
"Yeah, but the beautiful single mom from your office will be there."
"She left just a month ago. I'm so not ready to jump into anything." He couldn't bring himself to say the name of his wife and mother of his children. One day, she just decided that being a mom and a wife wasn't for her and she took off. Which is why you were babysitting that night.
"Don't jump into anything, just jump on her."
"On those elegant words, I'm out. Bye babies, I love you!" He sent them kisses as he was walking towards the door. "What are you doing?" He asked when he noticed you were following.
"Going to a party of course!"
"Don't leave them out of your sight! Even for one second!" He scolded.
"They are on their mat, playing!"
"And your niece is starting to crawl!"
"Just leave and bang someone."
"And you wonder why you're still single..."
He finally left but not without holding his shoulder after you punched him.
"Okay babies! We can do this, right?"
Turned out, you couldn't. Or at least, it wasn't going as smoothly as you thought it would. Shortly after your brother left, your niece started to cry her heart out, wondering why daddy wasn't there, for sure. Then, your nephew decided that he wasn't going to eat. The food didn't seem yucky to you but it was to him, and he thought throwing around and at you was funny. So did your niece. By this time, your brother had already texted you twice and you obviously lied. The little boy being covered in soft food, you decided to give them both a bath, hoping it'd tired them a bit. But they both were very much against the baby shower gel, and your niece pooped in the tub. Which made everyone almost throw up.
After a (very) long struggle, they were finally in their PJs, clean and ready for bed. You thought a break was coming, but your niece had a meltdown. Which caused your nephew to have one too. You didn't know what was wrong, you tried everything you could to calm them both but nothing was working. You contemplated calling your brother several times, but it was his first night out since she left and you didn't want to ruin it for him. After over an hour of struggle, you did call someone.
"Gibbs," he answered.
"How much do you love me?" You immediately asked over the crying. You barely heard him chuckle.
"I'm on my way."
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! I owe you one!"
You didn't know how long it took your team leader to show up at your brother's house. But somehow, as you were trying to soothe the twins on your brother's bed, you felt a presence behind you. "How did you get in? You know what, I don't care. Help me, please, I don't know what to do."
Whether or not the twins noticed that there was someone else in the room, they weren't stopping. Gibbs got closer to you, look down at the twins. "First, you're gonna take a deep breath."
"They are crying bloody murder!" You exclaimed.
"The more frustrated and anxious you get, the more they'll cry." You felt his hand on your shoulder and his gentle squeeze. You closed your eyes, tried to block the noises and took a deep breath.
"Now, are they fed? Changed?"
You wanted to give him a snarky comment as you always do, but didn't have the patience for it. So you just said yes.
He grabbed your niece into his arms, "Grab this little guy and do what I'm doing." You followed his instructions. Holding and bouncing your little man a certain way. After the eventful evening, you almost missed how incredible Gibbs looked with a baby in his arms, how gentle and soft he was. Such a natural. You nearly stopped everything when you heard him starting to sing a lullaby. It was quiet and you could barely hear him above the crying. That's when you realized that only your nephew was still crying. "You stopped." He warned you. "Don't get frustrated, hon. Sing to him."
You took another deep breath and did as told. Slowly, your nephew was calming down. It was magic.
"Lead the way to their bedroom." He whispered.
He put down in the little girl in her crib, and helped you putting down the baby boy, as he noticed you were too scared of waking him up. You stayed there for a moment, silently looking down at them, Gibbs right next to you.
"It's official, I do not want kids."
Gibbs chuckled and slid his hand in the back of your neck, bringing you to him so he could kiss your hair. You took the opportunity to go for a hug and he gently returned it. It suddenly became much easier to breathe.
"Is the baby monitor on?"
You checked, and grabbed the part you were supposed to keep with you.
"I need to change." You said after leaving the bedroom.
"You can take a shower."
"Do I look that bad?"
"You look like you need to relax."
"True. Will you be there when I get out?"
"Yes, give me the monitor." You did and felt shivers all over your body as his long fingers brushed against yours.
"Grab anything you want from the fridge. I'll be quick."
"No rush."
It was one of the most amazing shower you've ever had.
You knew you didn't want to have children most of your adult life, but it just got confirmed. You didn't want this to be your daily life. You loved kids, and you loved the twins more than anything in the world, but you didn't need one of your own.
When you reached the kitchen, it was sparkling clean. The big mess from dinner was gone. The toys were put away. Gibbs had his back turned to you as he was doing the dishes. "I don't know if I want to scold you or kiss you." You regretted the last words as soon as they got out.
Gibbs looked at you over his shoulder with a smile. "You're welcome."
"Seriously, you didn't have to!"
"No problem! You accepted to babysit twins after the crappy days we've had at work."
"Yeah," you sighed, remembering the awful case the team dealt with and only closed a few hours ago.
"How you feeling?" He asked, turning off the water and drying off his hands.
"How you feeling?" You retorted, earning a shy smirk from Gibbs.
"I'm fine." He reassured you, or at least, tried.
You got closer to him, grabbing the hand towel for him to put it away, and locked eyes with this man you've been in love with for a very long time. "You almost got killed, Gibbs." You said barely above a whisper.
"It comes with the job." He just said.
"Doesn't make it okay when it's such a close call." You could see the scene again. The bullet rushing so close to his head. A few centimeters to the left and Gibbs wouldn't be anymore. That thought hurt. It scared you more than anything else. And you couldn't control the tears forming in your eyes.
"I'm okay." He said one more time, knowing that you needed to hear it. So did he.
You felt his arms slowly wrapping around you, and before you knew it, your face was buried in his neck, as you inhaled his unique scent deeply. You held onto him tightly. "I can't lose you. Not you. Ever."
But you would, one day. Him being older than you, you knew that and Gibbs definitely knew it too. Which is why he never acted on his attraction and feelings for you. He knew you were feeling the same, he knew you were in love with him - even though he couldn't understand why or how. He could easily have given in, and enjoy whatever moments with you. But he refused. He couldn't do that to you, nor to himself. Everyday in this job, he could lose you too. That bullet could've been for you and not miss. Losing Shannon - and Kelly - was the hardest thing he's ever had to go through, and he couldn't bare the idea of losing another partner, especially you.
Which was why he tried to get you to leave NCIS several in the past few years. At first, it was pointing out how this job sucks - he loves it but he's a bit of masochist -, how you'd be better off doing something safe. Then it was introducing you to someone who had move on from this job and never felt better. And lately, it was asking Vance to find you a desk job you would actually enjoy. But nothing worked. You were still there, by his side, in harm's way.
Would it hurt to give in just this once? He wondered as he felt you clutching onto him. You fitted so perfectly in his arms, you smelled so good. You were showing your vulnerability, which you rarely do, with anyone and Gibbs found it very appealing.
He was looking down at you, you were looking up. He could lean in a few inches and his lips would reach yours. He started to, very slowly. But before it happened, your phone went off. You rushed to it, not to answer but mostly to shut it down, after it would wake up the twins, despite them being upstairs.
"Seriously!" You said after picking up.
"Just wanted to check in. Are they safely in bed?" You rolled your eyes.
"Of course not, I told you we were having a party. Can't you hear the music? Do they prefer scotch or bourbon?" You saw Gibbs smiling.
"You suck."
"So do you. Go back, and enjoy your night out, idiot."
"Hey, wait. Are you--sure it's not too soon for me?"
"She left, bro. Screw her. Whether it's a one time thing or more, as long as you're happy with it, just go for it. You deserve some fun."
"Says you, who can't move on from her boss, even though nothing ever happened. I mean, I tried to introduce you to some nice pe--" you hung up before he could finish. You knew Gibbs hear the entire thing.
"I'm, uh, gonna check on the twins."
But he held you back. "They are fine." He whispered.
"You already knew, didn't you?" You could look into his magnificent blue eyes. "That's why you've been trying to get rid of me?"
He sighed and brought you closer. His nose in your hair, his lips against your forehead. "I can't lose you either." He whispered, returning the vulnerability you showed earlier.
Hearing those words, you didn't think twice. You lifted your head up and crashed your lips on his. Gibbs didn't have the strength nor will to fight it. He intensified the kiss quickly, backing you up against the wall, where it happened for the very first time.
First of many.

You hum softly as you continue working on the salad to go with dinner. Jethro would be home a little later, but you always make sure he comes home to a nice, relaxing dinner.
Your guys’ son, Maddox Leroy Gibbs, was upstairs playing with his newest birthday gift. Jethro had got him a wood-carving kit and now Maddox couldn't keep his hands off it.
All of a sudden, you heard thumps before the most pained scream you've ever heard. You dropped the glass bowl of salad, ignoring the glass shattering on the ground as you race towards the crying.
There was Maddox laid on the ground, cradling his arm. You fall to your knees beside him and gently grab him.
"Baby, hey, I need you to tell me what happened. What hurts?" You ask softly.
"M-My arm!" He wails.
You gently pull his hand away as your stomach flips and your throat tightens seeing blood and bone. He screams, wailing louder.
"Look away." You demand as you stand, picking him up as you grab the keys and your phone on the way out.
You barely were able to lock the door as you run out towards your car. You get him in the booster seat, grabbing the first aid kit and quickly taping gals over it loosely so he wouldn't be able to see it.
You hurry to the drivers side, starting to drive the way that Jethro drives. You open your phone with shaky hands and dial his number. It rings and rings until it says his mailbox was full. You throw the phone down in the seat next to you as your shaky hands grip the wheel tighter as you break every driving law to make it to the hospital.
You were out of your car, running to his side of the car as you swung the door open, picking him up and running inside. Immediately nurses flank you, having you place him on a gurney before your told to move your car.
You felt irritated, but you also understood. You quickly move you car before finding your way inside. You weren't allowed to go in the room with him as they had an officer on the way to question you. You knew they thought this was some abuse case, but it wasn't. You grab your phone dialing his number again and you kept dialing until he finally answered.
"Hon, I'm in the middle of a case right now." He says irritated.
"J-Jethro, h-he fell down the stairs and he hurt his arm really bad. T-They won't let me see him! They have an officer coming to question me because they think this an a-abuse case!" You sob into the phone, ignoring the nurses who gave you the stink-eye.
"Hon, I'm on my way. Do not answer any questions. Tell them your waiting on me." He says sternly.
Before you could say anything, he had hung up. You let your head fall into your hands as you cry harder.
"I want my mom!" He wails and you stand as you rush towards him.
"Ma'am, you can't see him until you've been questioned and cleared." A nurse snaps, pushing at you.
"He's my son! I'd never hurt him! Let me see him!" You snap, trying to push through towards your son.
"Mommy!" He wails.
"It's okay, baby! Daddy's on his way!" You say as tears fall down your cheeks and big burly security guards push you back towards the little sitting area in the hallway.
They cuff your hands behind your back and make you sit as you refused to leave. You looked at the ground, your head racing as terrible thoughts went through your head.
Jethro parks his car hastily, getting out of the car as his team followed him in. He tried to get them to stay and work on the case, but they refused. Maddox was their nephew and they'd do anything for the kid.
Jethro walks in, his eyes finding you. For a brief moment, he felt relief until he saw the cuffs on your wrists.
"Take the cuffs off her, now." He barks, striding towards you.
"Sir—now!" He interrupts.
The security guard fumbles with the keys as he roughly pulls you up before Jethro pinned him against the wall. Tony grabs the keys off the floor, undoing the cuffs on your wrists.
"Don't you ever put your hands on my wife like that again." He warns.
"Hey sweet cheeks, your okay." Tony murmurs as he hugs you.
"They won't let me see him." You mumble numbly into his chest.
"They will once Gibbs is through with them." He teases and you couldn't help the small shaky smile.
"Hon, come on." Jethro says.
You walk towards him, keeping your eyes casted to the floor. His arm wraps around your waist protectively as he walks towards the desk.
"Where is my son?" He demands.
"S-She needs to be questioned." The nurse says weakly.
"My wife wouldn't ever lay a hand on our son. He fell down the stairs, kids have accidents all the time. Let me see our damn son." He snaps.
"O-Of course, right this way sir." She says and starts to lead us towards the room he was in.
You hesitate and hang back towards the doorway as Jethro heads towards Maddox who was sat up in the bed with a light blue cast on his arm.
“Daddy!” He exclaims, throwing himself towards Jethro who chuckles and catches him.
You catch sight of stitches across his eyebrows and you let a shaky breath out.
“Careful buddy, you can take someone out with that thing.” Jethro teases which makes Maddox giggle.
“I don’t really like it. It’s going to stop me from being able to do my wood carvings.” He pouts.
“I think it’s a really cool cast. You can have people sign it even! And you can take a break from the wood carving, son. I’ll get you some more while you got the cast on so we can let the supplies build up.” He says.
“Okay! Uncle Tony, will you sign my cast?” He asks.
“Of course! I even so happen to have a sharpie on me!” He exclaims with a childish grin.
Your heart aches and you sit down as you watch Maddox with soft and sad eyes. Jethro was in the corner of the room, on the phone with director as he kept an eye on Maddox as well.
You look away from Maddox and at the floor when a nurse walks in. She looks at you as if you had the plague, in which Maddox notices and frowns.
“Why are you looking at my mommy that way?” He snaps.
The nurse was taken aback as you look up alarmed. You stand, walking over to the bed and reach a shaky hand out to brush his hair away from his eyes. You leave a kiss on his head.
“It’s okay, baby.” You murmur.
He looks at you confused. He was a smart child for his age. He definitely had his fathers profiling skills, that’s for sure. He looks back at the nurse, his eye narrowing as he latches onto you, hugging you tightly. Jethro was grinning in the corner as your lips part in surprise.
“Ma’am, we still have to follow protocol.” The nurse says in which your heart shatters.
“Protocol? Mommy, what’s she talking about?” He asks, looking up at you with Jethro’s blue eyes.
“It’s nothing, baby. Mommy will be back, I promise.” You murmur.
“No. I’ll be back, buddy. Mommy will stay with you.” Jethro says.
You watch confused as he leaves with the timid nurse. Tony throws an arm over your shoulder and smiles.
“Trust me, boss will handle it. Your a good mom, don’t let them tell you otherwise.” He says.
“Are they saying your a bad mommy?” Maddox asks confused.
“I-I, no…they just have to follow protocols they put in place to keep people safe.” You explain slowly.
Tumblr media
Thankfully, Jethro was back quickly and even somehow managed to get his prescriptions whilst filling out the discharge papers. Jethro sent the team back in the work car and was going to drive you and Maddox home. Tony offered to drive Jethro’s car home, but you settled on taking Jethro to work tomorrow as you felt guilty for calling him from work early.
Maddox was asleep in the backseat, and you were focused on the building and other structures out your window. Jethro kept glancing over, sensing you weren’t okay. He grabs your hands and squeezes it gently.
“Sorry I snapped at you on the phone earlier today, hon. I don’t want you to think you can’t call me. For now on, I’ll answer immediately if I’m not out in the field.” He promises.
“Jethro, I’m not upset you didn’t answer or that you snapped at me. I know your working on a case right now.” You say softly.
“Then what has you upset?” He asks as he pulls into the driveway.
“Nothing.” You lie, getting out of the car.
“I’ll get him. You get the door opened.” He says.
You nod, heading towards the door and unlocking it. You are greeted with blood on the ground and you immediately grab your cleaning caddy from the closet and start cleaning it up. Jethro walks in, holding Maddox. He frowns seeing your shaky hands scrub at the puddle of blood.
“Hon, I got that. Let me go put him in bed and then I’ll clean that up.” He says.
“No, it’s okay. I got it. Here, you go on up and I’ll finish this up.” You say quietly.
You move just enough so he can get up the stairs. He gets to the third or fourth step before looking back down at you concerned. His eyes find your bruised wrists and his frown deepens. He turns, focusing on getting Maddox up to bed.
“Daddy.” Maddox mumbles sleepily.
“Yes, buddy?” He asks softly, tucking him in.
“Why did the doctors think mommy is a bad mommy?” He asks.
“Because they are a bunch of knuckleheads and don’t know what a good mommy you have. Don’t worry about it, buddy.” He says.
“Daddy?” He whispers as he starts to fall back to sleep.
“Yes?” He asks.
“Can mommy give me a little brother or sister?” He asks.
“I…I mean, I’ll talk to mommy and see what she wants to do, but she loves you so much. I think she’s happy with just you.” He murmurs.
Little did Maddox know, Jethro was scared to have another one. He was scared to have Maddox after what happened with Shannon and Kelly. He barely let you in and then finding out you were pregnant nearly sent him over the edge. You loved kids and you want a whole damn school bus of kids.
Maddox goes to say something, but it was little mumbles before he was softly snoring. Jethro chuckles, brushing his hair out of his forehead before leaning down and kissing his head.
He heads downstairs to see the blood cleaned up. He goes to the kitchen where he heard you. You were sweeping up the salad and broken bowl into a pan.
“What happened?” He asks, taking the dust pan to hold it.
“When I heard Maddox scream, I just dropped the bowl and ran for him.” You mumble quietly.
“Hon, go take a bath and relax. I’ll finish the clean up. I promise you that Maddox is okay.” He says.
You hesitate, but with a stern look from him, you nod slowly. You head up the stairs, starting your bath. He finishes up the floor before he cleans up what would have been dinner. He does dishes and takes the trash out before deciding to check on both Maddox and you. He checks on Maddox first to see him sleeping.
He nears the bathroom before slowing his steps as he hears your muffled crying. He walks in and sees your face buried in your knees, suds covering your bits from view.
“Hon, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?” He asks, kneeling by the tub.
“Why am I such a bad mom?” You sob.
“Y/N, what are you talking about?” He asks.
“He’s hurt because of me, Jethro. Those nurses had every right to look at me like that. I’m a terrible mom. There was blood, everywhere and the bone was sticking out. His screams…gosh his screams were so loud. I didn’t even notice he cut his eyebrow until I saw the stitches.” You sob.
“It’s not your fault, Y/N. He’s a kid and kids have accidents. Maddox loves to run throughout the house and we could tell him until we were blue in the face not to run in the house. He slipped and fell. It wasn’t your fault. You know how many times I got hurt as a kid? A lot. We can’t protect him from everything as much as we wish we could. Things like this will teach him why we tell him not to run in the house or why not to go outside barefoot. We can only do so much. Your an amazing mom. He knows so.” He murmurs, rubbing your back.
“I can’t even look at him. I feel terrible. It’s all my fault.” You whisper.
“It’s not your fault and you know that. He knows that and I know that. He knows your a good mom. He told me when he woke up briefly because he caught onto the way the nurses were treating you. He actually wants another siblings. He told me.” He says, sighing as he plops on the ground.
Your head flies up, your eyes wide as you look at him. You reach a hand out and grab his hand, rubbing it gently.
“You know we don’t have to. I know how scary it was when you found out I was pregnant with Maddox. I am perfectly content with Maddox and you.” You say softly.
“I think I might want another one. Maybe we’ll get a little girl this time.” He murmurs.
“Really?” You ask surprised.
“Yeah.” He says with a soft smile.
“Your such an amazing dad, Jethro. Maddox absolutely loves you. He always tells me that he wants to be an NCIS agent just like you.” You say with a soft smile.
“And your such an amazing mom. He tells me all the time. He also tells me how much he loves you and how much he wants to make you proud. Whether it be cleaning up his toys or helping with the groceries. He loves you and he idolizes you so much.” He murmurs.

Imagine being Gibbs’ girl
Tumblr media
He tries to keep his rough exterior, but he totally melts for you
He’ll definitely dance with you in the basement if you ask sweetly enough, and even if he pretends not to, he loves just swaying with you to some old country loves songs.
(This would definitely play through his radio)
Or kiss every one of you fingers if you come home from work and say they’re sore.
He will put you back in the car if you try to open your own door.
He’ll learn how to put your hair in a pony tail or a bun if you hurt your shoulder and can’t do it yourself. Plus he’ll keep brushing your hair for you, sitting snugly between his thighs and enjoying his warmth, long after you heal.
He sings to you if you wake up in the night reliving your darkest times in your dreams. He’ll wrap you up as tightly as he can in his strong arms, strong enough to remind you you’re safe with him, and whisper the words to any old song that pops into his head.
He loves to leave you little notes by the coffee pot or on your bedside table when he leaves before you do:
Have a good day, my love. See you tonight
- J
You agree not to marry early in the relationship
You’d both been around that block more than once, and it seemed like that fancy piece of paper just complicates things.
Of course, you’re exclusive to one another, but you just can’t bring yourselves to risk changing what you have by changing your last name. It seems so insignificant when you think of it that way.
Most of your neighbors and friends just assume you’re married, anyway. So when a letter arrives in the mail addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs, you aren’t surprised. It makes you smile to see it on paper, but nothing is going to change your minds on this.
His love language is 100% acts of service
He’ll unload the dishwasher, fold the laundry, bring you home fresh flowers for no reason at all, have dinner ready if he somehow makes it home before you do one day. He rarely lets you bring in any groceries or luggage. Even though he knows you are tough enough to literally take him down, he wouldn’t dare letting you carry something too heavy or inconvenient.
Any little thing he can do to brighten your day, he does.
Tumblr media
In turn, the small acts you grant him, like taking his suit jackets to the dry cleaners, setting his shoes and thermos out for him before work, picking up a new book about boats, make him fall even more in love with you.
He makes you things
J will make you anything he thinks you might like. A wooden stand for your plants, a step stool when you mention that the bed is just a little bit high off the ground for you, shelves to proudly display your knick knacks, a sled for Christmas after you tell him you never had one as a child.
He’d even try his hand at a ukulele if you mention wanting to learn to play.
Of course he’s made boats named for Kelly and Shannon, but his newest project is adorned proudly with your name, sprawled across the hull in flowing letters.
Tumblr media
His hobby turns into more than just that, it’s his way to show you how much he loves you, and you soak in everything he’ll give you.
He’ll use his jacket to shield you from the rain
Jethro is usually prepared for anything, but rain can sneak up on you. In that case, he’ll peel his jacket off and cover you as best as he can. Even if it means he’ll get soaked to the bone, he’ll make sure you’re covered a least a little bit more than he is.
He tones down his crazy driving for you
The first time you got in the car with him, you about passed out from an anxiety attack. You don’t want to be a backseat driver, so you just grin and bear it for a while, but he picks up on your discomfort pretty quickly.
He slows down, starts using his turn signal, and stops cutting people off, but every now and then, when it’s late and the roads are empty, he’ll take you for a high-speed cruise just to get your blood pumping.
He’s much touchier than you ever imagined
Tumblr media
A strong hand on the small of your back, fingers ghosting over your exposed thigh, a reassuring squeeze to your shoulder when you’re uneasy, or just brushing against you to pass, even when there is plenty of room to spare.
Anything he can do to have his hands on you, he’ll do. You two are like a safety tether for each other, always there to make sure you don’t drift too far away.
As far as PDA goes, Jethro is pretty limited in what he’s willing to show the world, but he’ll always find a discreet way to connect himself to you. A brief brush of your pinkies, a quick kiss to your forehead, or a full-on embrace if you find a moment alone. Whatever it is, his touch still sets you on fire every time.
He is so gentle and fatherly to children
The two of you decided early on that you would avoid having kids. Given his past, you understand and agree to the arrangement. When you get together with your young nieces and nephews, though, Jethro turns into a total kid right along with them.
He’s quick to join in a game of cops and robbers, always quipping how it’s so much more fun being the bad guy, or plop down in the grass and find pictures in the clouds.
When someone takes a tumble or scrapes up their knee, though, he’s the first to scoop them up in his strong arms and hug the pain away. He’ll make them feel better with a story about when he hurt his knee, too, or how chicks dig scars (you always smack him playfully for that).
He makes a mean cup of coffee
You’d never thought of yourself as much of a coffee snob, but after tasting Jethro’s version, brewed slowly over the fire if time allows and mixed with the perfect amount of cream and sugar, you could never go back to any coffee shop again.
Same goes for his cooking. He doesn’t make much, but when he does, damn it is good.
“The secret ingredient is love,” he’ll joke to you, mocking your own phrase, and you’ll roll your eyes as the flavors envelop your tastebuds.
All in all, our man Jethro is basically the best partner you could ever ask for, and you love showing him how much you appreciate him.

Gibbs x reader - just be there

Can I please request gibbs where he comforts a bubbly and fun agent on his team who becomes more dim because she is having a hard time coming to terms with having to shoot a serial killer. (Hugs and cuddles galore) - Anon💜
Gibbs noticed the change almost immediately, how you kept your distance from everyone and you were no longer yourself.
He didn’t say anything, he just waited.
And he didn’t have to wait much longer, before he heard the door to his house open that night and softly close.
“Gibbs…?”
You padded down to the basement and he set everything down, cleaning out two glasses as he poured two drinks.
He pushed one towards you, but you didn’t drink it and he sighed.
“You did what you had to do.” He said.
You looked up at him.
“I killed someone’s Gibbs…”
“I know, and it’s okay.”
“It’s not okay! I.. I took someone’s life!” You snapped.
You started to pace back and forth, and you finally crouched, burying your face in your arms.
You didn’t know what to do, or how to process what you were feeling.
You never thought you’d have to feel something like this and you didn’t know what to do.
You just crouched there and cried.
Gibbs walked over, crouching behind he placed a hand on your shoulder and pulled you back against him, wrapping an arm around your waist.
“It’s alright…” he whispered.
He felt you fall back, and he sat down on the floor, you tucked between his knees, the back of your head resting on his chest as you cried softly.
He didn’t say anything, he just held you.
Yes, Gibbs had killed before, he knew this feeling, and he knew no amount of words could make it feel better, could make it go away.
You clutched at your chest as you cried, and he placed his other hand over your hand, holding it softly.
“I’m here… you’re okay…” he whispered.
He carried on holding you, holding you tightly so you knew that you weren’t alone.
He pressed his head to yours, and you took a shaky breath.
“I don’t.. I don’t.. I can’t…”
“You can, it’s okay, it’s okay. It’s alright I’m here…”
You shuffled around, resting your side against his chest, your head on his shoulder.
He held you a little tighter, and just sat there with you, holding you.
He’d hold you all night if that’s what you needed him to do, he’d stay like that for days even if you asked him too.
He wasn’t one for words, Gibbs was a man of actions, and he knew when someone just needed to be held, and right now that’s what you needed

affectionate cuddles
✰ - synopsis :: leroy jethro gibbs x gn reader with the prompt affectionate cuddles’
✰ - warnings :: fluff
✰ - k.j.’s diary says... sorry about the bad writing, im tryna get back in character or ehatever
although you both were not ones for physical affection, whenever one if you had a particularly bad day you both would eventually find yourself tangled up in each other on the couch.
so thats where you are now: cheek pressed onto the warm area of jethro’s NIU sweatshirt just above his heart while he rubbed his thumb back and forth over your back. jethro’s gaze bounced between the flickering flames and your limp body resting on his.
jethro hummed a little as he leaned back and closed his eyes. despite his own troubles, jethro knew you needed this quiet, tender moment. either way, you being in his his arms helped jethro more then you’d ever know.

Better off - Jethro Gibbs
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leroy Jethro Gibbs x Reader
genre: angst, purely angst
warning: none
word: approx 680
main mastetlist | request | prompts
Tumblr media
20. 19. 18. 17.
You noticed him clenching his jaw. And then he unclenched.
The hands you once wished to hold - to kiss, to feel moving through your hair as you lay beside him watching daytime television, to sense the way they raked up your waist in a movement that was nothing short of pure sin in the dead of night - remained on the steering wheel, the tight grip on the worn out leather causing his knuckles to furiously spill out an assortment of pink and red hues.
Situations like this were usually resolved with intense, angry make-up sex. "Pleasure in its most sinful form," he once said.
The mere concept made you ill to your stomach.
16. 15. 14. 13.
You both made no move to depart. Or converse. Or do anything other than wilt in the godawful silence that filled every nook and cranny of Gibbs' little car.  Your strained breaths, the erratic pants coming out in short gasps, barely audible from the tight scarf wrapped around your neck, were the only sounds that traveled through the environment.
There was never a single second of silence in all your years together. When things were good, every hour with him was filled with a variety of melodies - the bang of pots and pans as you both tried your hardest to cook a meal (without turning the kitchen into a messy food court or the center of foodplay), the sounds of his deep, brazen laughter as he teased you over and over. His heavy breathing in the early hours of the night, as his lips hovered above your small form, vowing to kiss every inch of your precious little flesh, was perhaps the most typical sound.
Even in the gloomy months that followed, stillness was never permanent. In fact, you craved it. Anything to silence the sound of plates crashing against the wall. The days of cooking had long passed.
12. 11. 10. 9.
You were afraid you'd bleed all over his automobile if your nails dug any deeper into your palms. Giving him yet another cause to despise you. Instead, you fiddled with your scarf.
Your choice of clothing was a technique of coping with the bitter cold that has gripped in town all week. Heavy storms combined with loud, irritating lightning strikes made you startle in fright as you lay lethargic and limp at night. The feel of his soft skin around your weak body was replaced with a steaming cup of coffee set on your shared bedside table and one too many blankets of his bourbon’s scented. You'd ultimately drift off.
Nothing, however, could wash away the fierce lashes of rain that gathered around both corners of your puffy eyes as you wailed into the darkness, a tsunami roaring within you as you wondered how, why and when it all went so damn wrong.
Pathetic fallacy, your ass.
8. 7. 6. 5.
Too long. You'd been in the car for much too long. You should have left the moment he pulled into the driveway. But nothing was ever easy with Gibbs by your side.
4. 3. 2.
You eventually proceeded to unfasten your seatbelt after what seemed like hours. The abrupt click of the buckle led him to look your way for a split second, fingers pressing deeper into the leather wheel before returning his sight to the window.
You noticed the single tear that flowed painfully across his face before he moved.
"This is me. The remaining items will be picked up by the delivery van the following day. Don't bother paying him; I already have."
And with that, you left.
1.
Almost. You almost left.
Even you were surprised by the rough hands that drew you back into the car the moment you opened the door.
“I’m sorry.” His face so red. “- God, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay Jethro. You said it yourself, remember?”
“W-What are you talk-”
Shaking your head. “Don’t you remember?” Letting his hand go.
“Remember of what?”
“You said it.” You laughed dryly. “I’m better off without you, right?”

Letters From the Sky
[A/N: Bruv I so rarely write angst because I am a weakling and it makes me Big Sad, but this has been floating around in my drafts and I just binge watched a bunch of NCIS episodes that made me cry so 🤲🏽 a ficlet for u, here u go. It's not really the saddest ending so there's that, at least? I hope? I sorry] Pairing: Jethro Gibbs x wife!reader TW: references to funerals/loss, implied character death
__________
Settling down on the couch in your living room, you tuck your knees underneath one of your husband’s old USMC hoodies and create a makeshift table out of your lap. Writing a letter can help you deal with your emotions, help you move on with life, your mother had advised, and so here you were, pen in hand, staring at the blank piece of paper before you. Hi, I love you and I miss you didn’t quite cut it. And were you supposed to keep adding to the letter daily, filling him in on your life? Was time passing differently for him? How long would it be until you heard his voice again? Could you ask your friend for her thoughts, or would your questions bring up too many bad memories? Head growing fuzzy and eyes growing watery from your endless stream of questions with no answers in sight, you opted to just start writing. Foregoing a greeting, figuring your husband would know exactly who this was from, you let out a deep breath and put pen to paper.
Funerals are such a funny thing, aren’t they, Jethro? The many faces from your past and present gathered around to celebrate life, lament loss, and say things aloud that they should’ve said to the person who needed to hear it most.
I miss you more than I could ever put into words. It was so strange being there today without you. How many of those solemn events did we attend together throughout the years? Family, friends, colleagues… Too many to count, and most of them senseless losses.
I don’t know how to keep going without you by my side, but it’s been such a blessing to be surrounded by your loved ones. We’ve been trading so many wonderful memories, stories about your fearless feats, your never-ending pursuit of justice, your stubborn nature, your devotion to those lucky enough to know you. I even met one of your former lovers after the funeral, and honey, let me tell you, we got to gossiping. Turns out you’re a regular Casanova, huh? It’s those steel blue eyes that keep you coming back for more, I swear.
I like to think that, even though we’re physically apart now, you can still hear me. After all, you always did say that about my optimism- “from your mouth to God’s ears, sweetheart”. Do you think, if I yelled loud enough, I could get a message delivered to you?
This big house feels even bigger without you. I guess I can think about it like those cases that would last for days, where I wouldn’t even get a glimpse of you until your perp was behind bars, but we both know it’s not quite the same. At least I can raid your closet without hearing you grumble about your favorite hoodies going missing- silver linings, my darling Jethro. I’m not sure how long they’ll keep smelling like you, but I’m determined not to wash them, just in case… My secret’s safe with you, right?
Speaking of secrets (more like hidden gems), I found a stash of Kelly’s artwork upstairs and I’ve started adding her drawings to the gallery of photos on the walls. I know I made some changes after we got married, but the sheer lack of decor when I moved in still astounds me. You’re such a man, she said lovingly.
Anyway, I think you’ll be pleased to know that
The sound of the front door opening alerts you to your friend’s return, and you hurry to jot down your last few thoughts.
Anyway, I think you’ll be pleased to know that your girls are all together in this big house of yours :) Hopefully, we’ll see you soon.
P.S. Not too soon. I know I call you my old man, but you’re not that old- yet.
Gibbs puts his truck in park on the driveway, returning home after another day added to the list of longest days of his life. He sits in the cab for a few prolonged minutes, trying to muster up the courage to enter your big house that feels even bigger now.
When he finally trudges up the walkway, he pauses with his hand on the doorknob and releases a heavy sigh before pushing the door open. And then, for just a split second, he swears he hears you calling his daughter’s name and her answering giggle overlapping with her mother’s voice.
The moment is fleeting, and no matter how hard he strains, he can’t conjure up the sound again. But the house feels warmer, lighter somehow.
And he smiles.

Federal Gambit- Part One
Warnings: Minimal swearing, jealousy
Pairings: dad!Gibbs x reader, Hotch x reader
A/N: I recently joined Tumblr to share random fics that I come up with. Apologies in advance if the grammar/writing is awful. I'm an engineering major and this is all purely for fun in my free time. Feel free to critique me and/or leave requests! Thanks for reading! <3
Summary: A mystery man is in your apartment. How will the love of your life, Hotch, react? More importantly, how do you know Gibbs?
Tumblr media
You looked into Aaron’s dark brown eyes. There was a sparkle which only made you smile.
“What is it y/n?” a smile playing on his lips as he grabbed one of your hands and started to caress it gently.
“Nothing…I just…I’m in love with you Aaron Hotchner.”
“Miss y/l/n, I’m in love with you too.”
“Would you like to come over? Watch a movie before you leave for the night?”
“I would love to.”
Hand in hand, you and Aaron paid for your meals and left the restaurant.
Upon arriving at your apartment, you unlocked the door and the two of you went inside. Aaron saw a figure at your window and shoved you behind him while drawing his weapon.
“Who the hell are you and what do you want?” Aaron sternly shouted.
Despite seeming calm, he was seething with anger on the inside. He cannot believe there is another man standing in your living room. Why would he have a key? Did he break in? Are you cheating on him? Aaron could not think straight but being an FBI agent, it was his job to protect you.
The mystery man let out a chuckle and turned around. You immediately recognized the voice and released a sigh before addressing him.
“Leroy, what the fuck are you doing here at,” you looked at your watch, “2100?”
Gibbs threw daggers at you but you knew and he knew that he wouldn’t be there unless it was an emergency. The least he could’ve done was call beforehand but that wasn’t his style.
At this moment, Gibbs decided to humor himself. He smirked and walked over to you pulling you into a hug all while his eyes were trained on Aaron. To piss Aaron off, Gibbs kissed your cheek.
Aaron tensed up. After holstering his weapon, he walked towards where you and Gibbs are and proceeded to look Gibbs dead in the eyes.
“Gibbs, back the hell away from y/n. You missed your shot. She’s mine.”
You started to get uncomfortable so you gave Leroy a look and he knew what you were thinking. He nodded and you turned to walk away.
Aaron caught your wrist tightly. You were afraid to look into his eyes but he grabbed your jaw and forced you to look at him. You saw the tears at the brim of his eyes and tears of your own threatened to fall.
“That’s enough Hotchner,” Gibbs commanded, walking towards you two.
“Y/n, what the fuck does Gibbs have that I don’t? I thought you loved me? Or do you just screw every old federal agent that you come across?”
You were too stunned to speak so you just dropped to your knees.
“Who are you calling old Hotchner?” Without second thought, Aaron approached Gibbs and was about to swing but Gibbs beat him and struck him first, hard.
The famous smirk returned to Gibbs’ face and he told the two of you why he was there as he got you off the ground.
“Y/n, someone is trying to kill you. Bad news, since you are not an active marine and technically I’m off duty, your boyfriend over here has been tasked to be your protection detail. It’s his jurisdiction.”
“Where'd the intel come from?” you inquired.
“Director and since no one knows you and I are related, I figured why not say hi in the process,” Gibbs responded.
“Leroy, you’re a bastard. I hate you.”
“Get creative y/n. That’s what all my ex wives say when they see me.”
Aaron was still on the floor holding his nose trying to stop the bleeding. Leroy extended his hand to Aaron, who looked at it with disgust, and proceeded to introduce himself.
“Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Y/n’s father.”
This was going to be a long case.

When life catches up
Ch.3
Tumblr media
The day at work came to an end and Y/n cleaned her desk so that she could get down to Craig which had texted her 5 minutes ago that he is waiting for her downstairs in the car park. She put the last paperwork of the day in her bag deciding that she would be finishing this one at home when she came back. Because why should she go to bed if she could still work and not think about what her life has come to. Not think about how tausend of people could die if she and the FBI would do one thing wrong.
She was afraid and she tried desperately to shut down her emotions. But it would not work and working her self to the point of exhaustion only worked for a short period of time. But that wouldn’t stop her from still doing it.
Gibbs was the only other person left in the building when she took her full bag and made her way to the elevator. “Good night Gibbs” he didn’t even look up from what he was doing. “Well I’m off” she turned around and pressed the button to call the elevator. “You know you shouldn’t take all that work home with you it isn’t good. I speak from experience” he still didn’t look up but it made her turn around to him again. “What do you mean?” She put her long fringe behind her ear.
At last he looked up he even stood up and moved over to her. “I haven’t said anything the last couple of weeks but I do notice things. You have been avoiding us. You don’t sleep and you take work with you. It isn’t healthy you know. You should rest” she exhaled. “I’m fine Gibbs. It’s nothing.” She couldn’t look him in the eyes knowing she was lying straight to him. “It wasn’t a question. I know you’re going through something right now what it is I have no idea as it seems you’re not comfortable enough to tell any of us… but you’re going on a break. Give me the documents.” He was holding his hand out to her. She was shocked. “What do you mean go on a break. I can’t… I… what would I even do? I can’t just stop right now!” A single tear was rolling down her cheek simply because of frustration and exhaustion. “You know what Gibbs here. Here you go” she was pulling out the folder of documents laying it down on the nearest surface. Without saying anything more she walked over to the elevator and got in. Leaving him behind.
He didn’t know how to feel. A man like Gibbs wasn’t known to have many feelings but right now he felt many emotions. He felt bad because she was clearly not in a good place. Bad because she wouldn’t let him help her and frustrated because he was helping her but she wouldn’t let him. He wanted to run to her telling her he was sorry and that she should let him fix things. Let him fix her problems. Let him hold her so she could sleep well. But he didn’t do that. He wouldn’t do that because their relationship wasn’t like that. She didn’t know about his feelings towards her. How he longs to hold her. Kiss her. But he’s only able to look from afar. Be her friend if you could call them that. Because she has a boyfriend now. How? When? Who? He wants to be that for her. But he can’t.
Meanwhile she was looking for Craig’s car in the parking lot. Still being frustrated about the current situation. She was pissed not only was she stressed about working 24/7 for ncis and the fbi now she was suspended from her normal job. She found Craig’s car opening the door and sliding in. “How was work honey” that was his attempt on a joke. “Craig’s please don’t right now isn’t the right time. I was just suspended!” She tried to sound nice knowing that he wasn’t at fault. Well in a way he was but she agreed to help so it really was her own fault. But it was still frustrating knowing she wasn’t able to keep her own live together. “Anyway where are we going now that I am able to commit 100%?”
After months of not posting I found time to write again. It’s short but hey. Hope you guys like it and are still interested in the story. Xx

Hi. I’ve been reading your work and it’s been sooo funny. It’s my first time asking for fic. Could you write a fic where Gibbs and reader is in the secret relationship in the bullpen. And one day they’re having breakfast or lunch or anything and they’re cute, sweet, and so in love each other and then being caught on the scene by someone in the bullpen.
Thank you so much for good works!
Hello anon, thank you for the request and your kind words, it means so much to me ❤️ I hope this is what you were looking for!
Busted ~ Jethro Gibbs
It's not easy to give a relationship secret, but it's even worse when it happens in the workplace, and the people you're the closest with are all trained investigators. However, you and Gibbs have been doing a great job at hiding it. It's a lot thanks to him, to be honest; the man has one hell of a self control and when he puts his mind into something, he never fails.
Most of the times you were almost caught was because you couldn't keep your hands off of the man you love. A stolen kiss here, a lingering hand there. The closest to being busted happened when a lawyer was clearly hitting on Gibbs, and your jealousy went over the roof. You trust Gibbs more than anyone, you know he'd never do something like that, but seeing this woman being too comfortable with your man, touching his arm, and giving him flirty looks, that was hard to handle.
However, it led to the first time Gibbs allowed himself to let go in the office. Noticing how jealous you were getting, he got you to follow him to autopsy, taking the elevator and shutting it down. He immediately grabbed you and kissed you intensely. Then he looked deep into your eyes, silently asking if you got the message. You smiled and nodded. Gibbs was a man of a few words after all.
Weekends off were a very rare thing for the team, so when the boss said 'see you on Monday' by Friday night, it was a race to the parking lot. Obviously, a few minutes after you got home, Gibbs let himself in and you immediately jumped into his arms. "An entire weekend, just you and me?"
"Why else would I let everyone go this early?" He kissed you.
After spending the Friday night at your place, ordering takeouts and simply relaxing together, you went to his place on Saturday. Gibbs feels more comfortable there, and he likes to work on his boat while you're reading a book in the armchair he specifically brought into the basement for you.
But Gibbs wanted to spoil you. He knows he's not the most outgoing and adventurous man, and there's this tiny voice in his mind that keeps telling him you're gonna get bored of him and the relationship. So, he used all of his computer skills to search for the best and fanciest restaurants in Washington. He wished he could've asked McGee for this, but how would he explain it? 'I want to take my girlfriend on a fancy date, and spoil her the way she deserves, cause I'm afraid she'll get bored and leave me. Also, my girlfriend is someone you love like your own sister.'
It was a nightmare to do this research, but Gibbs was satisfied with himself when he found the perfect place to take you.
"Your burgundy dress is still here, right?" He asked, joining you after he took a random shower.
"I think so, why?"
He kissed your forehead. "Go get ready, we're going out."
"You're kidding? Where are we going?"
"Surprise."
You excitedly got up from the couch. "Okay, but I need to take a shower too!"
He looked at his watch. "You got an hour, good enough?"
"Yes sir!" You quickly pecked his lips and rushed upstairs.
You don't remember the last time you got into a fancy restaurant like this, you kinda felt out of place. But it was amazing to see Gibbs being this romantic with you, holding doors, pulling out the chair, he even ordered your first alcohol drink, for the both of you instead of going with a beer or bourbon. "You're spoiling me," you shyly smiled. "And you look extra handsome tonight. I still love the polo shirts and hoodies though."
"You deserve to be spoiled." He grabbed your hand and brought it to his lips. "Had to clean up nice so people don't wonder why the hell you're doing with me, more than they already do, at least."
It was amazing. The food was exquisite, the conversation flew smoothly between you, and Gibbs kept complimenting you, and not just physically. He hinted several times how lucky he felt that you were with him, loving him and standing by his side no matter what. "Jethro," you looked at your joint hands on the table before getting lost in his wonderful blue eyes. "You don't have to do this to make me happy. I'm happy as long as I'm with you."
He stayed silent for a moment, processing what you were saying and looking for the right answer. When he opened his mouth to answer, a voice came out from behind you. "Boss! Wow, fancy seeing you here!" Tony DiNozzo. Great. You couldn't get out of this, could you? "Who's your da--" he reached the table, and finally laid eyes on you.
"Hi Anthony," you teased. "Didn't recognize me from behind? That's offensive from you."
Tony kept looking between you and Gibbs, mouth open. "I think he's having a stroke." You joked to Gibbs, who softly chuckled. He had accepted that the cat was out of the bag.
"DiNozzo, you gonna keep standing here or let us go back to our date?" Gibbs asked.
"I, um, wow. I got some many questions." Gibbs gave him his famous, which got Tony to solely look at you. "I got many questions." He said, lower.
"I can still hear you, DiNozzo, and most importantly, I can still see you."
You nodded to Tony with a smile, silently telling that you'll indulge his curiosity.
"Well," you laughed after Tony was finally gone. "I guess we're no longer in a secret relationship."

The reader is a Marines daughter she runs to work every day. Tony asks why she doesn't drive as she should be able to afford a car now. Embarrassed she tells them she has her permit but her father never had time to teach her to drive (a lie). He tells her tobuy a bike to her horror she Embarrasses herself more by letting it slip she doesn't know how to ride one that her father only taught her life saving things not stuff for "fun". Everyone just kind of moves on as she hides her embarrassment well from everyone but Gibbs who sees right through it. Later she asumes everyone left she mumbles to the picture of her father "hey dad do you think a bike or driving lessons are useless now"
You Ain't Alone
Word Count: 1k+
A/N: Sorry it took me so long to get this up! Hopefully this is okay! I went at a more father/daughter aspect between Gibbs and the reader! I loved this suggestion though!
Tumblr media
Your alarm blares loudly, and you jolt awake before letting a heavy breath out. You reach over, silencing the loud alarm as you know you have to get up and get ready. As much as you craved to sleep in, you couldn’t because you had to get to work on time. You got home later last night due to the case you guys got. Gibbs seemed more irritated and was insistent on getting justice for these female petty officers who have fallen victim.
You get up and quickly get dressed in black yoga pants and a cropped long sleeve white shirt that is almost like spandex. You put your hair up into a ponytail before stuffing your outfit for the rest of the day into the backpack you bring to and from work.
You lock up your house before you begin your normal run to work. It was pretty therapeutic although you do wish you could just drive to work in the mornings. It meant you could leave your house later for work which would be nice.
You reach the familiar Navy building and slow down until you're walking. You get in the building and curse quietly after realizing that you had gotten here about ten minutes later than normal. Gibbs holds the elevator for you, your entire team must have gotten here at the same time.
“Y/N, why don’t you just drive to work instead of run? Surely you have the money to afford a car now.” Tony asks and your cheeks flush red.
“I-erm, well I-I only have my permit. My dad never had time to teach me to drive.” You stutter out, your face growing even more hot in embarrassment.
“Why doesn’t your dad have time to teach you to drive?” He asks, confused.
“Oh…my dad…he wa–he is a Marine. My entire life…he’s been mostly overseas. It’s been me and my aunt and even she wasn’t there a lot because she was a doctor.” You explain quietly.
You were mortified and you just wanted this elevator ride to end, but it seemed like it wasn’t ever going to end.
“So, buy a bike.” Tony says.
“I don’t know how to ride a bike.” You say before you squeeze your eyes shut and sigh.
You heard the familiar headslap as Tony whines, asking Gibbs why he got smacked and you were the first off the elevator, rushing to the restrooms where you go to a stall and start to change. You let a puff of air out and shake your head as you pull the black dress pants up before buttoning the white blouse. You pull on your boots and tie them before walking out of the stall with your bag. You fix your ponytail before spritzing yourself in perfume.
“God, you just had to embarrass yourself.” You grumble, grabbing your face and shaking your head.
You were eager to start working, thankfully they all had disregarded the elevator which was nice. The day passed slowly and you were sitting at your desk even after everyone had gone home. The entire day the elevator conversation seemed to haunt you.
You look at a picture of your father and you frown. He wasn’t around much in your life and when he was, you were to refer to him as “sir” and he would give you life saving lessons, never anything fun in life. You begged and begged for him to teach you to drive, but he said no. He thought that was a fun thing, not something you’d need later in life.
Gibbs stood on the second level, watching you. He could tell that you were embarrassed all day. You tried to hide it from the rest of the team, but he could see right through you. He quietly makes his way behind the bullpen and you sigh.
“Hey dad, do you think bike or driving lessons are useless now?” You mumble as you grab the picture of him.
He frowns, watching you. He casually rounds into the bullpen, hearing your startled gasp. He goes to his desk and works on some files before abruptly looking up.
“Y/L/N?” He asks.
“Yes?” You ask softly.
“How tired are you?” He asks.
“Not tired at all actually.” You say confused.
“Didn’t you say you have a permit?” He asks.
“Erm, yes.” You murmur, your eyebrows knitting together in confusion.
“Alright, come on. I’m going to teach you to drive.” He says, grabbing his coat.
Your lips part in surprise and he sends you a grin, walking towards the elevator. You eagerly get up, following him to the elevator as excitement fills you.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t believe it…you were officially a licensed driver. You had yourself a car and here you were, sitting in it in the NAVY yard parking lot. This was real.
You knew you wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Gibbs. He has taught you several things in the past few weeks like, driving, riding a bike, fishing, how to cook the best steaks, and how to build a boat. This man has been more of a father to you than your own. The bond you have with Gibbs has tripled these past few weeks. On top of that, you always feel a little emotional thinking back on these past few weeks. He didn’t have to help you, yet he did.
“I saw your new ride.” Tony says as you step in the elevator and you blush.
“I’m officially a licensed driver.” You say excitedly.
“That’s good!” He says with a grin.
You walk off the elevator together, heading towards the bullpen and Gibbs looks up at you.
“How’d the driver’s test go?” He asks.
“I passed…got my license and I might’ve finally got myself a car with what I saved up. Look!” You exclaim excitedly, showing him your license and he grins.
“Good job, Y/N/N.” He praises and you smile softly.
“I couldn’t have done it without you, Gibbs. Thank you so much.” You say.
“Y/N/N, you ain’t alone. We are a family. Don’t ever be afraid to ask for something. My door is always open.” He says, softly smiling at you.
“Literally.” Tony laughs and both of you roll your eyes before you hear a headslap.
You turn back and see Ziva laughing as Tony glares at her. You look back at Gibbs, not before seeing Tim hunched over laughing as Tony tried to make a defense against Ziva. Gibbs had a big grin on his face and you smile, this was your family.

Tumblr media
You walked with a certain pep in your step as you made your way to the front lobby of the NCIS building where you knew your man would be waiting for you. It was nice working in the same building, him in the investigative unit and you in legal, since you could meet up for coffee breaks or after the workday. It had been such a long, frustrating day today and you couldn’t wait to fall into his embrace.
To your surprise, he wasn’t sitting at his usual spot with a coffee in his hand and another on the table for you. No, he was standing near the small café with a wide smile on his face, hands in his pockets, and a tall, lean, red-headed woman in front of him.
You slowly made your way down the long staircase to the main floor of the lobby, your gaze never leaving your boyfriend and his new friend. She was laughing and putting her hand on Jethro’s bicep as you approached. He must have said something that was just so funny. A hot blush swells over your chest.
“Jethro,” you practically spat, clearing your throat and taking a step closer. His eyes met yours and his features immediately softened into a real smile, much different than the fake one he was sporting just a moment ago.
“Hi sweetheart,” The words flow off his lips in that deep baritone honey you love so much. You raise your brow, glancing over to the mystery woman quickly, trying your hardest not to give in to his knee-weakening gaze.
“Oh Jethro, is this one of your fellow special agents?” The woman questions. It takes everything in you to not slap her right across her primped face. Patience is a virtue you remind yourself in your head
Rather than letting him answer the question, you step closer to him and place a hand firmly on his shoulder, balancing yourself to reach up and kiss him sweetly and deeply. Usually you wouldn’t show such affection in public, but you had a point to make. You can hear an audible gasp coming from the red-headed hussy behind you.
Your lips lock with his over and over, tongue poking onto his lower lip. Jethro grabs at your arm with a harsh grip, practically asking you “What the hell has gotten into you?” With only his fingertips. A soft hum escapes your lips as you finally pull away and you meet Jethro’s wide-eyed expression with your smug one.
“Very special,” You purr, reaching over to swipe a smudge of lipstick off of his lip. Out of the corner of your eye you see Jethro trying desperately to hide a cheeky smirk from spreading across his face.
“Oh, Jethro was just telling me how close your team is, but I, uh, didn’t realize you were, so um—“ The woman stammered and straightened up, fidgeting with her blouse, suddenly unsure what to do with her hands.
Jethro’s hand slides down to land on your lower back and he presses a short peck to your temple. You can barely feel the small gust of air expelling from his nose as he stifles a laugh.
“Some more than others,” He finally breaks the uncomfortable (for the mystery women) silence.
“Well it was lovely to meet you,” You begin facetiously, “Better be on our way, hm Jet?” You slide your hand into his and turn to head towards the door.
She just stands there speechless, probably for the first time in her life, and watches the two of you walk away, hand-in-hand.
You make it out the door and into the warm summer evening air before Jethro lets out a laugh. Your eyes meet his as your hands raise to your hips, one popping out to the side, just waiting for him to speak first.
“Green is a new color on you, sweetheart,” He laughs and pulls you into a sweet hug, still chuckling snd shaking his head.
“I’m sorry,” You sigh into his warm, broad chest, “I didn’t mean to make a scene. I just, I didn’t like the way she was talking to you — flipping her hair, grabbing your arm,” You mock her movements in a most exaggerated fashion, pulling another honey-glazed laugh from your man.
“Just an old friend, killer,” He reassures you, pulling your hand up to meet his lips while you just stand there, defeated.
“Mhm, you have a lot of old friends around here, player,” You raise an eyebrow at him again, jabbing your finger jokingly into his chest, “Especially red-headed ones.”
He lowers his chin to meet your gaze head-on, the hint of a smile yanking on one side of his closed lips. He grumbles something akin to “c‘mere” and pulls you into him again, one hand meeting the small of your back and the other resting at the base of your neck. His long, thick fingers snaked over your loose hair and pulled it over your shoulder so one ear was exposed. He placed a sweet peck on your lips before trailing them to the shell of your ear.
“None of them compare to you,” He growls, barely loud enough for you to hear, but you feel the change in his tone immediately. A silly grin spreads across your face as you feel a rush of excitement creep into your chest.
Jethro does something next that sends that heat straight down to your lower half. He slides the hand that was planted on your back down and plants a swat on your butt that sends a shiver up your spine. He rarely shows you that kind of affection out in public.
It was when you lifted your eyes to meet his in surprise that you spotted Tony and McGee walking up to you, likely just wanting to say and instead getting a free show. Tony had wider eyes than you’d ever seen before and Tim was turning every shade of red.
“Uh, hey you,” Tony greets timidly, “Boss.” He can’t seem to meet either of your eyes. McGee just smiles and adjusts the collar on his shirt nervously.
“Hi boys!” You let out a laugh and tuck yourself into Jethro’s shoulder, pretending to hide your face, while he wraps a strong arm around your waist. He’s suddenly got the same stern look he always seems to have around his team.
“Have a good weekend, agents,” Jethro says with a certain lilt in his voice that only you seem to catch. Tony and McGee let a stream of “thanks boss,” “you too boss,” “bye guys,” “take care,” fall from their still-shocked mouths as you wave and start heading for the car per Jethro’s strong hand on your back guiding you that way.
You look up at him and his stern expression finally breaks, the corners of his mouth turning up into a knowing smile. He leans slightly and presses a kiss to your temple as you hurriedly make your way home so you can continue what he started.

Gibbs x reader - waiting for it
Tumblr media
Hello, I was wondering if you could write Gibbs/ reader going on a first date after years of flirting with each other. You can write it any way you like. Thank you, Lora - @ilovemark1951💜
Humming to yourself, you were walking through the bullpen when you stopped and turned to the silver haired man sitting at his desk.
You looked him up and down.
He stopped what he was doing and slowly set his pen on the desk.
“Keep staring, see what happens.” He said.
“Really Gibbs, maybe I want to see what happens.” You smirked.
He chuckled a little, leaning back he crossed his arms as he looked up at you.
“What do I owe the pleasure?” He asked.
You shrugged a little, giving him a cocky smile.
“Nothing, you look good in that shirt.”
“Would look better on you.”
“Ooo smooth talker, keep playing Jethro, see what happens.”
With that you walked away to carry on what you were doing while you had a large smirk on your face.
Gibbs smirked as well, going back to his work as he waited for the next time he would see you so he could make another similar comment.
No one knew about this game that the two of you played.
You only did it when you were alone, it was a competition to see who would get flustered and give up first, but after months neither of you had backed down.
You’d come to love the little game, and looked forward to each time you would see him.
It didn’t take long for you to see him again, because Gibbs came wondering up to your office and closed the door quietly behind him as he looked at you chewing the tip of your pen.
“Keep chewing that you’re gonna get ink all over your face.”
“Guess you’ll just have to wash it away then huh?” You smirked.
Gibbs smirked a little.
“I know something better you could eat. Me, you, dinner tonight.” He said.
He planted a hand on your desk and looked at you.
You were shocked, but quickly regained your composure and leant forward a little.
“Don’t get into things you can’t get out of Jethro.” You said softly.
“Who says I wanted out?” He mused.
You hummed a little, leaning back in your desk as you stretched.
“Alright, formal or casual?”
“Casual.”
“Early or late evening?”
“Late.”
“Out or in?”
“Out. Bring a jacket, it’s cold.”
With that he left and you smiled to yourself.
You were beyond excited when you went home and changed out of your work clothes into something more casual and comfortable.
Milling about your house, you did some cleaning and sorted some stuff out as you waited for that much needed knock on your door to tell you your date was here to pick you up.
If you were being honest you were nervous, but you wouldn’t tell him that.
You’d been wanting this for a long time. You never thought the flirting and the remarks would actually go anywhere because you didn’t think you were his type.
You thought he just enjoyed the game, and you did too so either way you wouldn’t have been too disappointed if it never actually went anywhere.
When you heard the knock on the door you had to contain your excitement as you walked over and answered it, looking at Gibbs dressed in jeans and a hoodie.
“I prefer the shirt.” You mused.
“I’ll remember that.” He chuckled.
He handed you some flowers and you invited him in as you went to put them in water.
“So what does the mysterious Jethro have planned?”
“Well it wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you (Y/N).”
You laughed a little and turned back around, leaning against the counter.
“Where’s the fun?”
“Not telling you.” He shrugged.
You hummed a little, nodding your head as you followed him out of the house and to his car.
Even in the car the pair of you were flirting back and forth with a hint of sassy comments thrown in and you absolutely loved it.
He pulled out outside a small cafe you didn’t recognise and looked at him.
“You’re not gonna kill me are you?”
“Just get.” He said pushing you slightly.
Laughing you got out of the car and followed him inside to a table and he handed you a menu as he went to order you both drinks.
You had to admit the cafe was nice.
He came back over with two cups and set on in front of you before setting his down and picking up his own menu.
“It’s quiet, it’s nice.” You mused.
“It’s where I come to escape you.”
“Well you’re screwed now you’ve shown me.” You laughed.
“Who says I come here often?” He smirked.
“Guess I’ll just have to follow you now.”
“You don’t already?”
You gently smacked your own cheek.
“Damn, harsh. I’m not a stalker you know.”
“You like eyeing me up like you are.”
“Hey, is it wrong to look at hot things?”
“So I’m a thing now?”
You rolled your eyes as you set your menu down.
“You could’ve picked up on anything and of course that’s what you went for.”
Gibbs shrugged, setting his own menu down.
“I enjoy causing you trouble.”
“Don’t I know it.” You laughed.
You guys ordered four food and settled into light conversation as you ate.
You stayed for a little bit after, and whenever Gibbs wasn’t looking you would sneak little glances at him, smiling to yourself and he would do the same to you.
Finally it came time for you to go home and he got out the car to walk you to your door and you turned to him, deciding to finally ask the question that’s been in your mind all evening.
“What was this?” You asked.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean… well… why’d you invite me out to dinner?”
You didn’t want to ask, but you needed to know why.
Gibbs smiled a little, and placed his hands on your hips, pulling you into him before leaning down, just inches away from your face.
Leaning up, you brushed your lips again his but you didn’t dare initiate the kiss.
“Well it mustn’t have been too great if you don’t realise I wanna take you out more often.”
He nuzzled his nose against yours and you smiled.
“Oh really?” You mused.
“Just kiss me.” He laughed.
You didn’t need to be told twice, you wrapped your arms around his neck and quickly kissed him, one he was more than eager to return.
It felt like the stars had aligned, you’d been wanting to do this for months and now you finally were and your heart was pounding in your chest.
You could kiss this man forever

You're stuck in the office working late but there's a massive thunderstorm but your secret fear is thunderstorms so you're on edge whenever there's a thunderclap but you don't say anything but Gibbs notices
Hope you like it!
Gibbs notices you’re scared of thunderstorms would include:
Tumblr media
•you had unfortunately drawn the short straw- you’d been left holding the proverbial baby and had to stay behind to finish off the paperwork for the case.
•ordinarily you don’t mind…but there was a storm coming in, and you couldn’t bare the thought of not being home, you couldn’t bare the thought of you secret fear being uncovered.
•little did you know that you’re not the only member of the team at work- Gibbs hasn’t left yet either. Though he isn’t sure why, he just felt compelled to stay.
•and by doing so you became the object of his stare. You felt a prickle of goosebumps rise along your neck, but you assumed it was from the fear of the approaching storm. But no, it was Gibbs’s gaze on you.
•it’s because he was watching you that he caught the way you jumped as the first crack of thunder, swiftly followed by lightning broke the sky. He brushed it off- perhaps it caught you unawares!
•but then more thunder rolled and lightning snapped, and every single time you reacted. Your shoulders quaked, your head straightened up.
•Gibbs could see even from the distance he was that you were breathing fast. He could just make out the way your lips were moving, you were counting to yourself, counting to keep yourself calm.
•but then the thunder was almost deafening. You were shaking, Gibbs wondered what you would do if you weren’t in the office- would you cover your ears? Hide under some covers? Try to block it out?
•well he couldn’t leave you struggling alone. He called ahead to you- not wanting to startle you by just appearing. And the minute Gibbs saw the terror in your eyes he hurried up!
•he pulled you straight into his arms, your hands clapped over your ears and he held you close to his warm chest. He made shushing, cooing noises- you couldn’t hear them but you could feel them and it did help.
•Gibbs took you away from the bullpen and towards the rest area- it was quieter there and he could get you a drink.
•not once did he say it was a silly fear- as he pointed out everyone is scared of something! So he absolutely wouldn’t let you say anything harsh about yourself or your fear.
•only once you were calmer, and the worst of the storm had passed did Gibbs stop talking to you, stop holding you. But he didn’t let you go home alone- he came with you, prepared to stay the night to hold you and distract you if the storm picked up again.
•Gibbs reminded you of Rule 28: If you need help, you ask for it. And that includes things like this.
