#delete later #on like half of the stories i've written on ao3 or more #i don't even get 10% of the viewers leaving kudos on my work and that's just kinda tiring man #we've come so far from the fanfiction.net days where writers solely thrived on comments and private messages to KNOW if their work is well #received by the online people #now you can just press a BUTTON to know that you enjoyed a story and it only takes like half a second! #there are so many people online who are constantly BEGGING everyone to PLEASE comment or review or let them know somehow that you've enjoyed #their work because we get so little feedback often and it is demotivating af #but if you're not gonna comment AT least leave a kudos rather than staying silent and consuming the stories like it's nothing #one thing i loved in the beginning of the ml fandom was how interactive everyone was with fanfics and how it had such a positive status #people were happily reblogging and leaving kudos and commenting LOADS back then #now???? it's literally SILENCE #back when my writing was worse prepandemic i easily got hundreds of kudos in a few days #but now i'm struggling to reach even 200 kudos in three months on my newer oneshots #engagement rate is soooooo bad now and it's demotivating af #i think this is why i prefer to write and send drabbles on discord because people there do respond and react to my works and it gives me the #push to keep going

For reasons, I’ve come to notice that slightly spicier/kinkier smut on AO3 will get lots of hits but few kudos and comments. So people are looking at the tags, diving in, but then don’t want to leave a paper trail.

I am, from now on, always going to leave kudos and comments on any good smut I see. We have to encourage those authors! They are doing a public service.

(I also leave kudos and comments on non-smut, but those fics always have more of each. No shame in liking fluff, I guess.)

IT. IS. DONE!

6 chapters. 12,552 words. My 5+1 fic of Kim and Harry being silly little guys, inspired by the concept of "mundane" dates.

This past month has been quite a tumultuous one, which seems to have been the case for many people that I know. There were layoffs at my former company which put several people I cared about out of work (I resigned by choice a literal day before they were announced), I got covid for the first time, and I have spent many days and nights planning and stressing over an upcoming international move.

Uploading this fic chapter by chapter over the course of the month provided a lovely reprieve from all of my real life worries. Writing has become an incredible way for me to stay mindfully and thoroughly engaged in an activity that allows me to exercise my creativity in a very different way than in my day job as a designer. It's been so delightful reading comments from readers who came back to give their thoughts after every chapter release, as well as from new readers discovering it for the first time. Knowing that I've brought a little joy into other people's lives has been very rewarding.

Immensely grateful for how welcoming the DE fandom has been toward this new fic writer. 🥺 This is my second fic in the fandom, my third ever in my life—and I hope it isn't my last!

Especially when you see me updating other fics and not your favourite one!

But you know, I am a horrible person, if I see a fic has not got enough views or kudos, I will not concentrate on it!

Yes we write for ourselves but we need hype too!

And seeing comments asking for next chapter makes me feel bad! I want to write it, but the ones which gain most love of readers will always take my priority! I can’t help it!
