...I know you've probably seen tiktokers and youtubers freak out about this already but this moment will never not be a moment to celebrate!

It actually happened. Never in my lifetime did I think I would see this day. My co worker, who also grew up playing SNES and this is his fav game, came up to me after watching the Nintendo direct and said...

"cary what is the one game we want to see a remaster of?"

I thought for a bit and really couldn't come up with anything (Mario RPG was so off the radar I didn't even consider it) So he was like...

"REALLY??? WHAT'S THE ONE GAME..."

He didn't even finish talking and I blurted out MARIO RPG??!?!?!?

Still now I hardly believe it's real. This is a game that helped define me. The guide book I have has worn out pages because I spent so much time drawing things from it. The first time I played it was on my dad's busted old black and white tv... I'm not that old we just didn't have a lot of money back then hahaha. This was the game that made me fall in love with Mario lore... and possibly lore in general. I even had Mario RPG songs on my MP3 players growing up!

I can't wait to play this! I can't wait to see all the unique characters again. The Axem Rangers, Jinx, Gaz and his dolls, Belome... my goodness this is amazing!

Here's one thing that stood out that made me happy:

As soon as I saw Mario do that pose with Mallow it reminded me of that picture of Mario finding the hammer from the guide book. Just made me smile to see the game come full circle and become the same as the old official artwork. Speaking of the guide book artwork...

I REALLY hope when you equip a new article of clothing you get to see it on the character. As a kid I always imagined the team wearing them!

To end this post I've heard a lot of people saying they hope for new content/dlc or something. I'd enjoy that but I'm okay with a true remaster. That being said, I saw two things I didn't recognize from the original game. One was Geno and Mallow on a rainbow road. I figured maybe that was some sort of change to star road's design? The other I don't remember at all!

...I don't remember any time when Mallow and Mario ride in the clown car? Maybe I'm wrong and it's around Boosters tower?

November 17th! Can't wait to play it!!!!

my second secret hot take on this topic is that most people who get really up in arms like that aren't even avid party goers / drug users / sex havers and it's more a kind of in-group signaling and/or projecting defense mechanism to signal that they are Cool And Sexy, not like those other people (who do basically the same things they do), who are Lame And Frigid. I don't know about you, but no one I know with anything even approaching an active and healthy sex life or relationship to drug use would say anything like that, because one of the prime directives of having a nice time with sex and substances is you do not try to socially pressure people into doing something they have said they don't want, holy shit.

xeno inklings are so fun. theyre like tentacle penguins to me. it's the perfect bipedal body plan.

theyre perfect. sturdy. shortish, balanced legs (crucial for keeping steady with minimal bones). big beak. all of their "hair" tentacles are just tentacles, with the arms being the club tentacles. technically the legs and body are also all tentacles. everything outside of the head is just 100% modified tentacle.

theyre slimy and gross all the time and can secrete nasty amounts of mucousy ink. they use it to slide on the ground (camoflaging as they go) and the ink leaves crusty pigments behind as it dries.

my xeno inklings are octolings are the same body type of "holy fuck it's The Slime Penguins and they wear clothes". but like inklings are not quite as bright indivudally (lovingly), they're smaller and more thinly-built, and they have thinner and longer beaks (with 3 prongs on each mandible, rather than the clean 1 per mandible of the octoling).

however what they lack in physical strength and individual smarts, they more than make up for it in speed, energy, and group coordination. an inkling will almost always prefer to be in a group (4-15), and as a group they always know exactly what theyre doing, and with a Lot of energy to spare. these guys are the adhd-havers of cephalopods

in comparison, the octolings are bigger and more heavyset, with a simpler and tougher beak like a parrot. they're more individually smart, but they generally prefer smaller groups. when not performing a task, they will generally drift to chilling with a smaller group (1-4) or on their own. tough but less social! still perfectly capable of being social, though- theyre just less social than inklings. these guys are autism, baby!

I’m not exactly sure how many chapters it will be but I have the first one written and am currently half way through chapter 2, I also originally started writing this before the last season aired so did decide to change it to use their canon names instead of what i normally use for fanon.

Antony Havers is Button High School’s newest English teacher because I saw a headcanon a while back that he was an English teacher before the war and I just couldn’t let it go, Thomas is the head of the English department, The Captain (completely made up a second name for him which I’m currently going with Hatt) is a History teacher along with Humphrey. Fanny and Pat are both The Cap’s best friends (Fanny is a Maths teacher and Pat is the local scouts leader).

Alison, Mike, Mary, Robin, Julian and Kitty (Who is Cap’s daughter) are all students.

Thomas puts Havers forward to represent the English dept. in an annual school wide quiz and he has to team up with Cap, they end up running a club to help the kids prepare and Haver’s finds out that Cap runs the school’s LGBTQ+ Club and offers to help with that too.

They end up getting closer and spending a lot of time together but are both so oblivious that neither of them will confess their love to the other so Kitty starts to put a plan in motion to help move things a long.

I plan a lot of cute fluffy bits in this especially ones where they’re taking Kitty on days out towards the end and both of them being total dads bc I’m a sucker for Aus where they get to be a happy and cute family. I also have some really fun scenes planned for Cap’s friend group and for the student group.

Also I’d like to explore them running the LGBTQ+ Club to kind of give the kids a space that they didn’t have, especially both being ex-army.

And because I have so much of it written I thought I’d include a preview:

Reggie loves his job at the pumpkin patch. The pay is decent, it's more fun than stocking shelves at the supermarket, and he loves seeing all the excited kids run around trying to find The Perfect Pumpkin. Also, he gets to take home some of the leftover cider donuts they sell at the little stall next to his sometimes.

Also, today he made a baby stop crying by juggling tiny gourds, so he felt kind of like a superhero.

It's not all families, of course. Their clientele also consists of hipsters, goths, cute couples on romantic pumpkin picking dates, people really really into fall, and Instagram Lifestyle Influencers. Thank god he gets to call Bobby when those come around. Bobby likes either flirting with them, or being nasty about their follower count and their 'lazy-ass diy projects', depending on whether or not they're trying to scam them out of free gourds or not.

Their boss actually gave them both cider donuts and a whole pumpkin pie, the day Bobby made an Influencer cry and vow never to return. Apparently she'd been terrorising the pumpkin patch for years.

The guy coming up to their table now, well, he was pretty enough to be an Influencer. Like, really, really pretty. His long hair was in a messy bun, and he was wearing a crop top with pumpkins all over it under a pair of paint-stained overalls.

Reggie really, really hoped he wasn't trying to scam them out of free pumpkins. Because he had a lot. Like, he'd taken one of the little wagons they usually gave to the kids and had a virtual pyramid of pumpkins on it. Big ones, small ones, weirdly shaped ones that people usually left in the field. Then, Reggie realised he’d somehow hitched a second wagon onto the first one, with another pile of gourds.

"That's uh... that's an alarming amount of gourds you have there, buddy," Reggie said, kicking himself. That was neither the suave pick-up line he'd wanted to say, or a customer-friendly meaningless pleasantry.

"I know, right?" The guy said, delighted. "I think I'm gonna need to borrow your wagon to get them all to the car, sorry."

"That's alright, I can help carry them if you want," Reggie said.

"Really? That'd be awesome!" Gourd Guy beamed. "I um, I kind of lost count out there, so I have no idea what my total is gonna be. But my budget is five hundred bucks so... I think we should be good."

"You have a budget of five hundred dollars for pumpkins?" Reggie asked incredulously. God, he really couldn't control his mouth around this guy.

"I mean, gourds are super classy," Reggie agreed, even though he had no idea what counted as classy. If he was given 500 bucks for Halloween decoration, he probably would have blown it on that 12 foot skeleton he'd seen online.

"I'm gonna get some black and purple and gold spray paint as well. Maybe use some paint pens and make some of them extra fancy." William wriggled with excitement at the idea.

"That sounds so cool," Reggie said, as he started to line up gourds and count them. "Are you an artist?" The paint-splattered overalls made it seem that way. He bet William was really pretty when he was all in the zone.

"Myeah, mostly grafitti stuff, though. You can check me out on Insta, I'm under willie.ortega.art." Bobby, who had perked up at the mention of Instagram, wandered over. Reggie wanted to glare at him. For once, he wanted to flirt with the cute Instagram-haver.

“Oh dude, you’re actually pretty good,” Bobby said, holding his phone so Reggie could see. Willie wasn’t just pretty good. He was amazing. His page showed big sweeping murals, as well as a surprising number of custom skateboard decks. Also some little street art scenes in surprising places.

“Hey, I know that one! It’s right near my favourite dog park!” Reggie beamed. “It makes me laugh every time.”

Willie beamed proudly, a pleased smile staying on his face as he gazed at Reggie with soft, pretty eyes.

“Of course your follower count-” Bobby started, before Reggie quickly turned around and shoved a hand over his mouth.

“Back off, he’s cute and he’s paying and he’s mine,” he hissed. He didn’t want to see Bobby try to make Willie cry. Bobby looked from Willie to Reggie and back with doubtful, squinting eyes, before Willie took out his wallet awkwardly. Then he shrugged, bit Reggie’s hand for good measure, and wandered off.

Reggie turned back, embarrassed. “Sorry about him, we’ve been having some problems with people trying to get free stuff and...” He looked up to see him watching him, a flirty smile on his face.

“Oh sure, influencers. They try to get VIP treatment at the club as well,” Willie said. “I was more interested in the other parts of that sentence. The part where you said I’m cute.”

Oh. Oh no. He’d heard that?

“And yours.”

“Uuuuum!” Reggie spluttered, but Willie just grinned at him, helping unload his many pumpkins onto the table. Their fingers brushed probably more than necessary, and the way the guy kept smirking at Reggie’s blush, he was pretty sure it was on purpose.

The pumpkin counting seemed to go on forever, not that Reggie was in a rush. In the end, Willie’s total came to 210 dollars worth of gourds, which wasn’t shabby. They were definitely getting leftover cider donuts tonight.

And, if Reggie was lucky, maybe a phone number as well.

To cap off this Comicon 2022 I present to you a little Holy Grail I added to the museum today...

The first two games that featured Mario’s voice (outside the pinball machine) signed by the man who does Mario’s voice. The legend... Charles Martinet!

I can not express how luvly this interaction was. As I walked up, Martinet asked “what do you have here for me to sign???” I proceeded to explain to him the games he first voiced as if he didn’t already know... hahahah... I laughed awkwardly... He showed his assistant and got her to take a picture with both games. I was worried before hand that I’d take too much of his time chatting but to my surprise he actually talked to me. He told me about him defining the character of Super Mario. Focusing on the positive and not seeing Super Mario as someone who would say something like “you lose”. After the signatures and chat we took 3 pictures. A thumbs up, a victory sign and a block punch! accompanied by Mario’s iconic voice with each picture.

Satin ►: crisp, clean pajamas

“And now it’s Julian’s turn!” Pat said with an overtly enthusiastic grin that had already grated on Julian’s nerves fifteen minutes ago when Pat had welcomed them to today’s Club. “What would you wear if you could today?”

“Let me guess: it’s going to be trousers – again,” Thomas muttered.

Julian smirked to himself. Just the opener he’d needed to make things more interesting.

“So what?” he asked, rounding on Thomas with mock affront. “Just because you have never been in danger of dying with your pants round your feet because everyone in your time was a prude and never had any fun in their lives doesn’t give you the right to judge my choice of clothes for this Club.”

It wasn’t like Julian was actually passionate about this; riling up Thomas just proved to be far more interesting than listening to Robin name some weird animal pelt and Mary the matching hat to it. Only this time, Thomas didn’t rise to the bait like Julian had hoped he hoped. He merely crossed his arms in front of his chest and sighed wearily. “Can’t you at least be a little creative with your choice for once?”

“Says the guy who chose to go with toga today,” Julian scoffed.

That finally got the desired reaction. “I’ll have you know that the toga is a refined piece of clothing, sir!” Thomas said. “The senators of Rome wore them!”

“And look how well that went for good old Julius C.,” Julian smirked.

“Who be Julius C.?” Mary piped up beside him.

Julian turned to her. “Ah yes, you see, Mary, Julius Caesar was –“

“Actually, Julian,” Pat interrupted, still wearing that annoying smile on his face. “Why don’t we leave that for History Club, hm? We still don’t know what you’d like to wear today if you could, mate.”

Out of the corner of his eye, Julian could see Thomas rolling his eyes. He remained quiet, though, and it was his silence, more than anything else, that gave Julian an idea.

“Pyjamas,” he declared. He sneaked a triumphant glance at Thomas, knowing his answer had caught him by surprise. “Crisp, clean pyjamas. Satin, of course. Feels really nice on the skin. In fact, some chap once blindfolded me with a–“

“Good lord,” the Captain muttered and cleared his throat at the same time as Pat said pointedly, “All right, thank you, Julian. Moving on to – Mary!”

Julian leaned back in his seat with a grin, satisfied he’d managed to stir things up at least a little. The look of utter disgust on both Thomas and Fanny’s faces was definitely worth it as was seeing the interest in Robin’s eyes when he leaned in to whisper, “Blindfolded with what?”

Nodding not so subtly towards Thomas, Julian whispered back, “See that cravat round his neck?” Robin glanced over and frowned, clearly not convinced of its better uses. “Trust me, it works wonders. Makes everything feel so much better.” And then, because he was Julian Fawcett and couldn’t leave well enough alone, he added, loud enough for everyone to hear, “Perhaps Thomas will lend it to us so I can show you its benefits in person.”

The others’ reactions were even better than he’d hoped they’d be. Thomas went delightfully red to the tips of his ears and left the room in spluttering outrage, closely followed by Fanny and the Captain who both looked torn between shock, disgust and, surprisingly enough, curiosity. Kitty, bless her naiveté, hurried after them, trying to get them to come back while Mary merely smiled in a mildly confused manner. Pat, on the other hand, had finally dropped that overenthusiastic grin of his and was pointing one very accusing finger at Julian. “Why do you always have to ruin things?”

Julian held out his arms as if to say, “It’s me, what do you expect?”

Shaking his head, Pat stormed off, clearly unhappy. Julian and Robin exchanged a meaningful look.

“So … are you going to corner Thomas or will I have to do it?” Julian asked with a grin.

Dream trip: I haven't ever been out of the country (USA), or even to a lot of places in the country, so picking just one dream trip is almost as hard as picking one favorite food. The first thing that comes to mind is going to Scotland with guesso, who loved it when xe got to visit and has said that I definitely need to see it too. I'd also love for us to go on a camping trip together just about anywhere, which is something that we've wanted to do forever but haven't had the opportunity to yet, or to meet up with some more internet friends.

Last book you read: It's honestly been too long since I've actually picked up and read a whole book; most of my reading lately has been fanfic, webcomics, and online essays (and tbh I'm sadly behind on a lot of those as well). I don't remember what the last book I read was, sadly. Soon guesso and I want to start doing a mini book club sort of thing, where we can pick a book out that we want to read (whether that's an old favorite of one of us that the other hasn't read yet, or something that we both haven't read in a good while, or something brand new), and just take it at our own pace and be able to discuss and write about it together. I think it's gonna be really good for us, I'm looking forward to it.

Last book you enjoyed reading: Uhhh how about "last fic I bookmarked"? 😂 That would be "We Are Made of Dreams & Bones", an Owl House fic by @scribefindegil . I also recently pre-ordered the print edition of The Sea in You by Jessi Sheron, one of my favorite webcomics.

Last book you hated reading: See above -- that one's a big ol' 🤷‍♂️ from me. I simply Do Not Remember!

Favourite thing to cook/bake: I also love cooking/baking in general, but I immediately thought of these watercolor cookies which are a super fun baking plus art project. We made them last Christmas and expanded from the snowflake idea to also include ornaments and presents and lots of other designs as well, there's definitely lots of ways you could go with it. And at least for me, known Haver Of Shaky Hands, it was a lot easier than trying to decorate something all over with icing tips, haha.

Favourite craft to do in your spare time: Bead Lizard My Beloved 💚 and other lanyard/keychain creachers as well! It's a fun craft AND stim. I like to draw and other things like that as well, though I'm slow at it.

Most niche dislike: Anyone else not a fan of the peanut butter + jelly combination?

Opinion on circus(es) now and in history: I went to a circus as a little kid a total of one (1) time, and I barely remember it -- I don't think I was too impressed, for whatever reason. Obviously now that I have the awareness I'm against anything that involves the mistreatment of animals for entertainment. I don't really know a whole lot about what circuses these days look like, how they're operated, if conditions have improved, etc. Of course there are also plenty of circus performances that don't involve animals as well; I haven't been to any of those personally, but I would look more favorably on something like that, granted that the human performers are also not being exploited.

Do you have a sense of direction and if not what is the worst way you ever got lost: I think I have a pretty good sense of direction. I've been navigator on quite a few road trips and the only time I can think of that I've gotten lost was wandering off with a couple of friends as a kid.
