question for Shyam, while on the topic of whiskers! (and sorry if this sounds rude, i'm not sure how else to word it!) did the serve any purpose for the original spacers, or where they also just aesthetic? are yours of any practical use in your day to day life/job right now? if not, wouldn't it be better to cut or trim them off, seeing as it wouldn't be painful and would reduce the risk of them getting caught on stuff?

When they’re really at risk of getting in the way, it’s easy enough to put them back with a cap or headband.

For Talita: What is your favourite food, then?

Being a large carnivore in living in space is inconvenient enough, but to make matters worse, there’s still not a lot of centaur agriculture off of their homeplanet. They were only contacted around 80 years ago in their radio age.

Talita’s expressions are… usually misinterpreted by other centaurs.

Tightening the lips and showing teeth is typically an aggression display, and wide open eyes are typically a shock reaction. She also barely moves her trunk except for speech direction (when she isn’t mumbling into her chin). More on centaur alien facial expressions here.

Did Talita ever became good at kickball?

Happy Lunar New Year! t’s the year of the tiger… Gillie is an orange-haired cat(girl) and Talita is a large striped carnivore, so close enough, right? Maybe if Talita puts more effort into her snarl.

Shyam the GMO human and Talita the centaur alien posed as one of my favorite illustrations, this 1924 cover for La Vie Parisienne by Georges Léonnec.

It’s difficult to find a clear image of the artwork online that isn’t either cropped or covered in watermarks by the people selling it as art prints. Interestingly, the cropped version circulating social media has a bouquet flying out of the centaur’s hands, which appears to have been pasted in by a tumblr user in 2012. I kind of love it, though. It’s a fun addition.

Wait if the doors are two feet tall, would Talita just about be able to look that fella on the upper level in the eye while standing next to the building?

Yeah, and the average adult human would be able to look into the second story. Pygmy avians are the smallest sophont in RttS, centaurs are the largest.

Talita’s ears are hidden above her eyes. Similar to an owl, the shape of a centaur’s facial disc funnels sounds to the ear opening.
