I didn’t love you because my heart still belongs to someone else, but I felt like i couldn’t walk away from you, because I know what it felt like to not be understood. I knew what it felt like to be alone or at least feel alone. You probably never knew I went through your same pain, since I didn’t feel comfortable enough to open up, but maybe how understanding I was I showed you enough. Enough to know that I was able to relate. Enough to see through your lies, enough to know why you lied. Enough to see why people would think your playing the victim, enough to know that’s not why you were telling me the story. You just wanted to be understood, and I for one was able to understand. I had to walk away because as much as I felt guilt doing so, for once I’m serious that I want to work on me. Not even that I finally wanted to but finally knew what I needed to work on. For once I realized how toxic I could be, and really want to change. You thanked me for coming into your life, claimed I was the light you needed. But little do you know how much I needed to meet you, I needed a glance in my mirror, even a mental picture. I will come out better and stronger and wish you the same. You were such a small part of my life, you weren’t around for long but I will never forget you. You made me really look in the mirror, you made me want to change what I see. You made me want to be a new me.
