Now, this is how it works - I'm an avid fanfiction reader (and I'm sure that if you're here, then, you're one too) and I genuinely believe that it's one of the purest and best forms of media. Every single fic we read deserves ton of support, for which I've got another sideblog called (@ireblogwhatireadcauseduh ) where I reblog all the fics I read.

This one, though, is a blog I created to hopefully preserve some of the best fics, according to me, that I've read so far. Fics that just really affected me in a way that I simply fell in love.

Mentioned below, are links that will lead you to the best fics, (again, according to me) that I read in the namely month. If a month isn't mentioned, it just means that either I didn't really read anything because life gets in the way sometimes, or that I didn't find any fic very touching.

We're exhausted, you're exhausted, Fest is done. We know you all are wrapping up masterposts and excitedly waiting for the results, so this month, we are just asking you to appreciate the fandom!

A Happy 2022 to the Cap-IM Community!

We wish everyone a happy Gregorian New Year! Thank you to our community and all Steve/Tony fans out there for a lovely 2021. We hope that despite the continuing pandemic that affected different parts of the world in different ways at different times, you are all safe and healthy and had a great year enjoying Steve/Tony content and fanworks!

Whether it's winter or summer for you right now, we hope you have a great start into the new year. We hope you had fun playing and mingling in this year's events and that the community has been a welcoming place for you! Thank you to our wonderful community of commenters, creators, event mods, reccers, readers and signal boosters! We wouldn't be here without you, and we hope that we see you sharing your love for Steve/Tony in 2022!

Looking back at 2021

In March we started a monthly multiverse challenge, the Cap-IM Universe Medley Fest - and we're not done yet! It will run for two more rounds until March 15th of this year. We hope you had fun with the mini challenges and exploring different Steve/Tony universes each month. Stay tuned for a small survey towards the end of that challenge! We also ran all our usual challenges, with a return of the Tiny Reverse Bang as our mid-year event. We also organized returning rounds for the Steve/Tony Quiz held on our discord channel and we had a new little midyear event, the Cap-IM Mid-Year Fanworks Alphabet 2021 based on our previous alphabet challenges.

What will 2022 bring?

Well, you guessed it, our regular events will run as per usual! Our 2022 Remix Exchange and Remix Relay participants are already creating fabulous remix works and Remix Madness 2022 is open for sign-ups and fills until February 20th. You can still join in!

The 2022 Reverse Bang opened for artist submissions today! The event is running for the 11th time this year and we're looking forward to all your submissions. ♥

Our rotating mid-year event this year will be a slightly updated edition of the Art/Fic Midyear Exchange. We hope you will enjoy it.

Tiny Reverse Bang is set to return in 2023!

Author Spotlight: Klaineship2 day 4

Day 4: Recs!

Please recommend 3 fics written by someone else.

I have mentioned already a lot of fics I love in these past 3 days and of course when I translate a story it's a recommendation per se. But I will give you 3 more.

#1 'The Sparrow' by @wowbright

Quote one of your favourite parts

On March 8, 2013, at 3:42 p.m., the same calendar reminder pops up on both of their phone displays: “THERE YOU ARE - ANNIVERSARY in one week.”

Kurt and Blaine have a lot of anniversaries. There’s the anniversary of the day they met, and the anniversary of their first official date, and the anniversary of the first time they spent the night together (which is not the same as the first time they had sex).

But this is the only one that Kurt didn’t delete from his calendar back in November. He’d stared at it, the memories sweeping over him – his sweet, vulnerable Blaine sitting before him, giddy and a little terrified, and Kurt had felt the same way, too, thought his stomach was going to leap out of his mouth when Blaine spoke those magic words (“There you are, I’ve been looking for you forever”) and Kurt became absolutely speechless for the first time in years.

Kurt’s thumb had hovered over the red delete button for a long time. But in the end, he just couldn’t press it.

So here on a sunny winter afternoon in New York City, walking arm in arm with Adam in search of a romantic movie to help Kurt forget Moulin Rouge, Kurt’s phone buzzes in his pocket, and he immediately knows why without having to look.

He should delete it now – or maybe not right now, but as soon as Adam’s not looking. Maybe after they’ve bought their tickets and Adam goes to find them seats while Kurt stands in line for popcorn.

He really should.

But he doesn’t.

Tell us what else you love about the fic

This is one of the first of @wowbright 's storys I ever read. It happens at Klaines 'would-be-2-year-anniversairy', but they are currently broken-up. It describes both, Kurt's and Blaine's thoughts and reactions concerning the upcoming non-anniversairy and how they deal with it. It's part of her Season-4-episode-reaction-series. She has written wonderful reaction-fics through seaons 2-6.

In addition to the bitter-sweet story, I love that it is from both POVs Kurt's and Blaine's with flashbacks to 2011 and wonderful insight in their heads. It's definitely part of my personal Best-of-Season 4-Missing scenes.

#2: I recommend 'Lovesong' by @andiheardeverything

It is one of my top 5 Klaine AUs and it's absolutely heart breaking and healing all at once. After a hate crime Blaine suffers from a brain injury. The story talks about the long way of his recovery with the love and support of his fiancé and family.

Blaine’s favorite mornings are the ones he wakes up to Kurt’s voice. He’s confused when he first wakes up, his eyes blinking sluggishly open to a room he’s pretty sure he should know but doesn’t remember. The walls are tan and he spends hours staring at them when Kurt’s not around, when he’s not being moved or rolled or poked.

Mostly he sleeps. It’s the only thing he can think to do, and usually he can’t even think at all, and he just feels so tired all the time. So tired it weighs down his arms, his legs, won’t let his eyes open completely. He doesn’t like it, being so tired, isn’t really sure why he is. He’s not really sure about much actually. How he got here, where he is, what happened. He knows it’s not right, that something is wrong, can tell by the anxious tone in Kurt’s voice whenever he’s around. Knows by all the people coming to sit beside him, to hold his hand and brush fingers gently down his cheek.

He just watches them, sometimes tries to squeeze their hand but his fingers feel weighted, slow and clumsy and he gives up, tries to sleep again because sleep isn’t confusing. Sleep doesn’t make his head throb or his body ache. Sleep helps him forget what he can’t remember.

May 15th, 2018

“Blaine.”

A light pressure on his arm and eyes blink slowly open, the world blurry for a moment as he struggles to focus.

“I knew you weren’t sleeping.”

The words float through his head and he registers them but doesn’t really understand, can’t focus on trying to make out what’s around him and the noises in the room at the same time. He sees Kurt, never forgets what Kurt looks like, smiling next to him, realizes the pressure on his arm is Kurt’s hand and he tries to smile back but it’s like he knows the motions, knows what he needs to do to smile, but his muscles have forgotten. They just give a pathetic twitch and if Blaine could he would groan in frustration, but he can’t. Only the tiniest, choked off noise escapes his throat and Blaine thinks the corner of his mouth feels wet, but he can’t really figure out why and with the beeping on one side of him and Kurt’s arm on the other side, the words leaving his lips and movement across the room it’s just too much, Blaine can’t process anything through it all so he closes his eyes and tries to breathe.

Something presses to the corner of his mouth, wipes gently, Kurt’s gentle voice drifting through the room like a warm breeze and even if he’s not entirely sure what he’s saying it wraps around him, holds him and comforts him and he just breathes, slips back into sleep.

When he wakes again, there’s still a hand on his. A voice speaks and he blinks sleepily, processes the words. “Hey there, sleepy.” Not Kurt. He lets his head roll to the side the voice is coming from, gazes up at someone with dark hair pulled back in a ponytail, someone he doesn’t know but feels like he should. Where’s Kurt? He was here, he thought he was but… maybe… everything is hazy lately and he feels like he can’t keep anything straight and it’s so hard to just think and…

“Blaine.” A voice, one he knows and he opens his eyes (when did he close them, he doesn’t know), sees Kurt to his other side. “Honey, is it your head? Do you want me to call the nurse?”

No, he doesn’t need the nurse, his head is only fuzzy, confused, trying desperately to sort itself out but it’s been filled with honey and molasses, sticking to the cogs and wheels and making everything go so slow. He wants to tell Kurt no, he’s fine, but he can’t, his tongue doesn’t move, the words don’t come, his lips twitch uselessly.

“Can you answer with your fingers, Blaine? Remember, like we’ve been trying?” Kurt sounds so hopeful, resting Blaine’s hand lightly on his, expectantly and it’s hard, his muscles reluctant to do what he wants but he lifts two fingers, stares into Kurt’s eyes imploringly.

Tell us what else you love about the fic

The author works as a nurse with people who suffer from traumatic brain injury and knows what she's talking about. I work in a medical profession as well and I adore her ability to really include everything: the necessary medical stuff, the struggles on both sides (not just Blaine's), the insecurities, anxieties, the pure reality of it. There is Finn, Burt and Rachel as well and there are some very inspirational original characters like Janessa Little.

Blaine slowly felt himself drifting toward consciousness, tugging his blanket up higher as Kurt hummed a made-up melody in the kitchen, the scent of cinnamon rolls and coffee filling the air.

He sighed happily, rolling over and –

Wham. Suddenly he found himself facedown on the ground, his knees smarting from hitting hardwood floor. He picked himself up and looked around, completely disoriented – he wasn't in his house; this was Nick's place, so why was Kurt in the kitchen –

"Blaine, man, you okay?" Nick asked, rushing into the room, a tie swinging untied around his neck.

"I fell off the couch," Blaine said dumbly.

"Yeah, I can tell. What happened?"

"I tried to roll over. Kurt –"

"You heard him, huh?"

Blaine blinked at him, confused. "I smell coffee. I need coffee."

Nick smiled. "It's in the kitchen. Listen, have a great day, okay? I've got to run to a meeting, but I'll see you tonight." Blaine stood perplexed, still in a sleep-induced haze, as Nick pulled him into a hug, clapping him on the back, then ran out the door.

He stared at Nick's retreating figure, then padded into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning," Kurt said, his eyes twinkling.

"You're here." Blaine stood at the coffee pot, still confused.

"I am." Kurt's arms slipped around his waist, and he hooked his chin over Blaine's shoulder. "You're not supposed to be up yet, birthday boy."

"It's my birthday," Blaine said dumbly.

"It is. Happy Birthday, honey."

Blaine took a long drink of coffee. "Fuck, I'm thirty."

Kurt laughed. "Yep. Welcome to my world."

"Fuck." He paused. "I feel thirty."

"Well, you're doing better than me – I feel about fifty …"

Blaine turned his head and smiled at Kurt. "Thanks for this. It's a really nice surprise. Other than when I fell off the couch."

Kurt chuckled. "You're welcome. I hope you're okay with birthday cinnamon rolls. I can stick a candle in one if you want me to."

"Nah, that's okay. But will you try to eat one with me?"

"I'm not promising anything, but I'll try," Kurt said, kissing his cheek.

They sat at Nick's table, their feet occasionally brushing against each other as the cinnamon rolls finished baking.

"This reminds me of the first year we were in the city," Blaine mused, staring at the ceiling and picturing their first tiny kitchen. "You insisted on always making me breakfast before class, remember?"

Kurt laughed. "Yeah, that lasted all of 2 months, until I realized that more sleep and a bowl of cereal were probably better ideas."

Blaine opened his eyes and smiled at Kurt. "Those were good times, weren't they?"

"Mmm, I miss them sometimes," Kurt said, fiddling with his coffee cup. "Even though we basically lived off of love, sex and Ramen noodles. I still can't believe we paid three quarters of our budget in rent."

"Oh my god, I know – do you remember that time we ran out of lube and you came up with the idea to borrow some Crisco from the neighbors until we could afford to get more?"

Kurt burst into laughter. "I told them we were making a pie! Oh, I'd forgotten all about that …"

Blaine gazed at Kurt's face, the way his eyes crinkled as he laughed, his lips pulling back to expose a rare glimpse of a set of perfect white teeth. He used to be able to make Kurt laugh like that all the time. "We were so in love back then …"

Kurt's face turned somber. "Were?"

"I – Kurt, that's not what I –"

"We'll work on it, okay?" Kurt said, smiling sadly and squeezing Blaine's hand just as the kitchen timer went off, signaling that the cinnamon rolls were done. Blaine had to physically restrain himself from banging his head on the table when Kurt disappeared from view.

Were, you idiot, why did you have to say that –

"They came out perfect, Blaine, just wait until you see!" Kurt called happily from the kitchen. He emerged a few minutes later with a platter full of rolls, thick icing dripping down the sides.

"Oh my god, they look amazing," Blaine said, his mouth beginning to water.

Tell us what else you love about the fic

There are different ways for a same-sex-couple to have children. In the first part Kurt and Blaine decide to adopt a baby, but not everything goes as planned and they have to go through very hard and dark times until they both come out at the other side as better and stronger people.

Part two is not quite as heavy but it deals with a lot of hospital and medical topics (this author also is a nurse and works at an NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) but both storys are so wonderful breathtaking, they will break you heart and heal it all over again.

As a medical assistant myself, I know a lot of the topics and issues lavender_love00 is talking about from first hand experience. The story deals with the aspects of adoption but also with the possibility of a failed adoption and the heartbreak that might cause. There are therapy sessions and communication and then a second try which istn't perfect from the start as well and there is so much reality background there it's just....
