Hi! I saw your post on telling Americans to vote, and I was wondering what you think of posts from people from other parts of the world who are calling Americans evil for voting for Biden because of his support for Israel. I've seen a few already. They seem to be completely convinced that Americans deliberately voted for Biden specifically to side against Palestine and no other reason, and spread the general (pretty ignorant and hateful) message of "Americans are evil because of the actions of their government and because they collectively refuse to vote for a president who is good and not simply 'the lesser of two evils'". It frustrates me because they seem to think they're experts on US politics, culture, and society and have all the answers, but it also makes me concerned because it reminds me of the whole Russian bot thing from last time. Like, I'm 99% sure the people reblogging these posts aren't Russian bots (don't know about the OPs though), and they unquestioningly believe this. What do you think of this and how would you go about addressing this issue? Do you think it's possible to get them to understand how little they actually know about the US and how they're actually promoting a message that makes things worse for everyone? I've also seen less scathing posts that are just disheartened and don't seem to believe the democrats are truly better to vote for than the republicans and so it's just two sides of the same coin. To be fair, I think that sort of feeling is only further encouraged because there didn't really seem to be much if any progress made with Biden, not even back to square one after Trump moved the country so far backwards. I think most Americans really wish the elections actually had good candidates and they could pick the best of two goods, but are frustrated and stuck with the current system and don't know how to actually get to the point where there are good candidates. (Though personally I think voting for the one who isn't actively trying to make themselves a king with unlimited terms is a decent start. I can understand the frustration though.)

Hi! Thanks for the ask. This stuff worries me too. I've gotten comments on my posts like that too, telling me/other Americans that we're evil for voting for Biden.

But I've seen a much larger number of comments and posts from people outside the United States BEGGING us to vote for Biden. I literally get tags like that on my posts EVERY DAY urging Americans to vote blue. So I think that's valuable context, even if it doesn't solve the problem of the "I hate everybody who votes for Biden" crowd.

And yes, it's definitely a shitty argument on their part to claim that people voting for Biden are specifically siding against Palestine. Literally every single person I know in real life and online who plans to vote for Biden has been criticizing and protesting his policies on Palestine.

In terms of convincing the anti-voters that they're wrong, honestly, I don't know. They don't listen to reason and they seem intent on spreading despair. Some of Biden's policies have been terrible (Willow oil-drilling project), some of them have been downright evil (military aid to Israel), but I'm a rational person and I know that Trump is worse in every respect.

I've tried debating them. It's been pointless every time. They genuinely don't know how the government works, which scares me. Common takes include: 1) a genuine lack of awareness of how pro-Israel Trump and the right wing are, combined with magical thinking that a virtually unknown third party candidate can win the presidential election, 2) truly impressive mental gymnastics blaming Biden for the overturn of Roe v. Wade, and 3) continuing the mental gymnastics to blame Biden and the Democrats for anti-trans policies...

I guess my advice is to either ignore them and move on, or debunk things when you have time/energy? It's easier said than done, I know. There's nothing more annoying than someone being stupid on the internet, especially when they accuse you of stuff that just isn't true, and especially when they're spreading dangerous misinformation or voter-suppression rhetoric.

Like you, I'm highly suspicious of anyone who advocates AGAINST voting, or against voting blue. And I agree, many of these people are not bots, like you said, but I call them useful idiots, because they're doing the bots' work for them.

The one thing you said that I'm going to push back on is "there didn't really seem to be much if any progress made with Biden." Biden's actually made lots of progress on a variety of issues, and reversed some of Trump’s damage, it just doesn't get a lot of fanfare and it’s unfortunately happening at the same time as Republican gains in state legislatures and while they control the Supreme Court. But Biden and his administration have:

• invested billions in green architecture and clean energy, including making sure federal investments benefit low-income communities

• introduced new fines for companies' methane emissions

• introduced a plan to cut the federal government's greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030 (that includes the military, which is a huge emitter)

• passed a huge bill for improving the country's infrastructure, including bridges, roads, broadband and more

• introduced first-ever national strategy on gender equality and equity and pushed Congress to pass the Equal Rights Amendment

• fought for women's reproductive rights after the overturn of Roe v. Wade

• put more women, people of color, and women of color on the federal bench than any of his predecessors combined

• nominated Kentaji Brown Jackson as the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court

• boosted funding to historically Black colleges

• ordered the DOJ to end the use of private prisons by the federal government

• pardoned thousands of people convicted on federal marijuana charges

• created a White House office of gun violence prevention

• passed the Respect for Marriage Act, guaranteeing federal rights and benefits for same-sex couples

• rolled out a series of actions to protect the rights and safety of the LGBTQ+ community, including protecting queer and trans foster youth, improving access to mental health services, and addressing the rise in hate crimes

• challenged discriminatory state bans against gender-affirming care and trans athletes

• called to support trans youth in State of the Union address and restored the White House tradition of recognizing Pride Month

• changed passport rules so that people can obtain a passport with no gender marker

• examined efforts by each federal agency to advance LGBTQ+ rights around the world

• reversed Trump's transgender military ban

• protected the rights of incarcerated trans people

• forgave billions in student debt, repeatedly, and introduced penalties for college programs that trap students in debt

• slashed bank overdraft fees

• expanded guaranteed overtime pay for millions of people

• maintained steadfast support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression

• maintained steadfast support for Taiwan in the face of Chinese intimidation

• strengthened ties with allies in Asia and the Pacific Islands

• pledged climate change assistance to low-lying Pacific Island countries

• literally IMMEDIATELY after being elected, Biden fortified DACA, rejoined the Paris Agreement, and ended Trump's discriminatory "Muslim ban", ended the Keystone XL Pipeline and fossil duel development in wildlife monuments, (same as last link) rejoined the WHO, strengthened COVID-19 response measures on a variety of fronts, re-included non-citizens in the U.S. census, and passed executives orders on racial equity in the federal government

And I'm sure there's more I left out.

There are also things Biden does that literally don’t make the news, but matter a lot, like funding the Postal Service, and continuing to have a State Department so we can conduct overseas diplomacy (Trump tried to defund the USPS and wants to purge the State Department and fill it with loyalists).

"Liebling, are you crying?" Mick asks the second he enters the house, dropping his gym bag by the door, and closing it behind him.

You turn your head to the side, trying to hide your teary eyes and how messily you look. You were wearing his clothes, and they had ice cream stains all over them after you spent the whole morning trying to distract your mind from the route your favorite TV show was taking. A sad one, not to mention the fact that you were on your period too.

But that wasn't the only reason you were trying to hide. You've been together for almost a year now, and Mick has seen you cry. He would always comfort you when you needed it. The thing was that you were sad over someone who did not exist in real life. You crying and somehow mourning the death of a fictional character, and that made you cringe a bit. What if he didn't understand? Or start to see you as childish?

"Yn?" he called again, now closing in on you. "What happened, Schatzi?" his big blue eyes bore into you, showing you just how worried he was.

You could only shake your head, and accept his hug, burying your head on his neck and breathing in his smell.

"It's nothing, I promise-"

"If it makes you sad it's something, stop downplaying your feelings, Liebe," his soft voice reassured her, tightening his arms around you and you took a deep breath.

"Ok, so...this character I really like- he...mhm he died, and I- for some reason I'm really touched by the whole thing? It's been two episodes since the whole scene and I can't stop crying," you confessed, clinging to him, and relaxing the second you felt his hands caressing your back, and his lips leaving a kiss on your hairline.

"No need to feel guilty or ashamed about it, love. It's completely normal to get emotional with something you're invested in. I won't judge you. And I am glad you're trusting me with this."

And just like that it was like part of the heavy weight pressing you down was lifted. Mick stayed by your side until you felt better enough to leave the couch, he drew you a bath, and you had dinner together watching a comedy movie while cuddling, and sharing a kiss here and there.

And nothing ever felt as good as being free to feel whatever you wanted to feel without the fear of being judged, and having the support of your loved one through it all.

Dream Video Bullshit

I decided against my better judgement to watch Dream's latest video. Here are the main things I wanted to say - if I don't mention something it's probably because I actually agree with what Dream said or don't know/care. A lot of this is rambling and venting because I'm annoyed and refuse to give him/his fans anymore of my energy or time to polish up this post.

1:16 - Dream says his accusers will make it harder for 'real victims in the future' to be believed and I just need to say that this felt like a really brash and entitled thing to start the video up with. Now you wanna care about victims Dream? After what happened last year? We'll get to that.

3:40 - This is a very small thing but Dream says here that in one video while he was playing Minecraft muted, he was being 'interviewed' by a SWAT Team member next to him in the room and I just can't help but question the validity of this because how did this happen? You were swatted and had someone in the room with you asking questions and you divided your attention between that and still playing Minecraft? You didn't just stop playing to focus on the SWAT Team? This barely matters but it fascinates me.

5:09 - Dream really goes out of his way here to point out that his speedrun cheating was discovered by a cheater and plays a clip showing how illegitimate this guy's speedruns were. This absolutely feels like him shifting blame and trying to paint this rando as a bad person to somehow excuse his own cheating which he says was unintentional. At 5:30 he says him and a developer had ruled out him using a mod - how did they determine this when he WAS proven to have used a mod and insisted he didn't realize? He doesn't elaborate.

6:30 - Here Dream acknowledges his behavior towards the speedrunning mods was bad and takes responsibility for it which is good but does not erase all the drama and bullshit he caused. When that whole thing went down, his stans passionately took his side but now that he's admitted to acting wrong they are fawning over his maturity - you guys sure didn't have a problem with it back then. At 6:40 he makes the point that the speedrun was 3 years ago and a lot has changed and I just don't see that change when he's still causing dumbass drama every week. Good on him for taking his videos down and apologizing to the mods but, again, his stans were all enthusiastically on his side then so I don't want to hear them now praising him for doing the right thing when clearly his behavior wasn't enough to turn them away from him 3 years ago. This is a trend with Dream's stans.

10:02 - Here Dream admits he was wrong to immediately and publicly disregard the info dug up about his domestic abuser friend which OK, good to admit, but 2 things - 1. Why, only a year ago, were you so quick and eager to disregard reports of abuse and 2. How did the fandom react to this. Again, if people took his side and disbelieved the victim, they can't now be so proud of him for admitting he was wrong. This does NOT instill confidence in me that him and his community would take later allegations against Dream seriously. Hot take, but I really think his initial response was despicable, irresponsible and I just feel sorry for the guy's victim in all of this. At 11:48 he pats himself on the back for how he handled the situation (besides initially brushing off the evidence) and ends with "I made it clear I didn't support domestic violence even at the detriment of one of my oldest friendships" and I'm sorry but given how Dream conducts himself, that feels like a manipulative little ploy to look good and garner pity for doing the bare minimum. Again, how many of his stans leapt at the chance to brush aside abuse reports and documented evidence and what did he do?

EDIT: Previously I thought the info on the friend was revealed by the victim herself speaking up but I was corrected on this and now know it was the friend's info being leaked and people snooping. Check my reblog for more info.

15:00 - He defends his Snapchat use with the fact that he promotes content on there but the photos consist of him doing random shit in his day-to-day life so I fail to see how that promotes his content rather than feeding his fans' parasocial relationship with him lol. At 15:20 he admits he isn't the one liking weird fanart on his account and 1. He's just admit he's been lying about running his own account for years and 2. Did he ever speak against the weird sexualisation in his community? Why did he allow his friend to keep liking weird shit, only messaging her to unlike it after the fact rather than laying the rules out? Idk this is just weird man. At 15:23 he shows a tweet by a defender of his stating that clearly he runs his account because if he had someone else running it, there would be a disclaimer. His fans gave him the benefit of the doubt and chastised others for not doing the same only to be proven wrong themselves lmao

17:08 - Dream claims he 'doesn't take himself too seriously' and I do not fucking believe that. This man has the ego of a planet and is lashing out at others every fucking week over it. Be fucking for real.

20:10 - Here Dream admits that him calling his fanbase 'kittens' was weird and he regrets it but also insists the whole 'Discord kitten' meme wasn't big back then and, this is purely anecdotal, but I absolutely think it was. Anyway, again, I wonder how many of his fans defended this back in the day and how many of those same people will now agree with Dream it was embarrassing and weird solely because HE now says it is and not because they can critically look at his behavior themselves. I'm skeptical of him insisting it wasn't meant in a weird way and he randomly chose the term 'kitten' because everyone back then instantly connected it to the Discord kitten thing but ok.

21:29 - Dream discusses the whole 'selling baby photos of himself' thing which I had never heard about before and am a bit gagged by. Anyway, here he specifically points out that celebrities have sold their baby photos before as if that helps his case at all, he explains the hard drive wristband thing was the product BUT it is still insanely weird and egotistical to me to include baby photos on that drive. He compares this to a biography but, again, this does not help the parasocial allegations because what the fuck has he done in his life to warrant a biography and what sort of audience needs this? I know this might be sacrilege to say but uhh this was objectively weird of him to do and he cannot sway my mind on that. Also for someone who doesn't take himself seriously, he sure was happy to quote himself on the hard drive???

36:09 - Finally into the more serious shit. Here, Dream points out the fact that Amanda was defending him when the whole face reveal happened 10 days before her allegations came out + liking his tweets 2 days before the allegations. I just wanna say this really means little, victims can be in denial or have complicated feelings. Also, at 36:18 he then says that she made her accusations because of the hate train following the face reveal and she wanted to get in on it even though he just said she was supportive of him and defending him? He's spinning this both ways - saying she was supportive to discredit her claim and then saying she suddenly hated him to also discredit her claim.

38:05 - He gets his mum involved to prove a point and I cannot emphasize enough how meaningless this is, even if its the truth you expect me to think your mother is unbiased and wouldn't lie to cover your ass?

40:06 - Bold of Dream to criticize Amanda for not treating the situation seriously when Dream stans are running around calling this shit a 'drontroversy'. At 44:20 he even says this isn't online drama. He also uses the image below as proof of her wanting him or whatever which 1. Doesn't matter when discussing underage exploitation because her behavior would never warrant her being taken advantage of and 2. Also shows him making weird sexual comments which he vehemently denied doing earlier.

42:12 - Dream asks how, if Amanda is dishonest about some things, how can anything she says be trusted? Why can't that same logic be applied to Dream for things he has no actual evidence for? He makes this argument again at 43:20 - if she's lying about the photo, how do you know she's not lying about everything else? Not a great argument from Dream of all people.

44:00 - AGAIN this man relies on victim-blaming rhetoric to make his point - "Go to the police. Or sue me. The standard of proof for you suing me is only proving that it's more likely than not that you're telling the truth. 51%. Come take my money." The insinuation that it's easy or simple for women to take men to court and sue them for sexual crimes is laughable and shows a real arrogance and ignorance to Dream. Again, regardless of how true the allegations were, women have gone to court with every type of evidence under the sun and still got nothing so what makes Dream assume this is an easy process? Do victims need to sue their abusers to be telling the truth? With all of his money and privilege, would Dream not be at a huge advantage in court? Weak argument that really feels disrespectful. At 44:15 he makes a little remark about how in court, her 'weird comments' and 'character' would have to be questioned and answered for. Despite the fact that any comments she made as a minor would be irrelevant in this case, despite the fact that someone's 'character' doesn't automatically determine whether they're a victim or not, this is also a funny comment because he's right - yeah, in court the female accuser would be picked apart and judged for shit that doesn't matter. Good thinking there Dream, really making your case!

44:25 - Here he gives a little lecture to Amanda about her hurting 'real victims' and again, as a reminder, this man publicly disregarded those concerned about intricate reports of abuse, has watched as his fans doxed and abused countless people and yet positions himself as an authority on deciding who is a real victims and who isn't. What also makes shit hard for victims is highly popular men like him convincing people to instantly disbelieve women, send them endless hate and make ignorant comments about how victims act. I don't want to hear any moral lecturing from Dream of all people about others 'hurting real victims'. Argue with the wall.

He then has a whole section on Nick Cantu and let me make this clear - Nick being a violent asshole has nothing to do with Dream's behavior or the allegations so I don't care and I do in fact think he focused on it to make himself look better.

57:50 - Dream wants to talk about the dangers of swatting and doxxing. You know, his own stans have doxxed people and once endangered a black person by sending police to their house for a welfare check in an area where welfare checks had resulted in black people being murdered by cops. He says that he always condemned this behavior but shows no proof of this. What actions did he directly take to discourage and stop this and help the people his own supporters had hurt? If anyone has receipts on anything he's done to help, feel free to show me because he provides no evidence of doing anything and I am really not amused by him skirting around his own community's doxxing of people.

1:00:20 - So here he plays the infamous moaning video in it's entirety but has it muted? I get it's gross but when the audio is the whole point, it seems so useless to play it muted. Just a weird choice but it is easy to find elsewhere.

1:09:28 - Makes another statement here that if something is disproven in court then that means it didn't happen which is blatantly untrue, esp when we're talking about sexual crimes. Very ignorant thing to say and really annoys me with how much he's positioning himself as a champion for victims.

After this Dream does a lot more talking about how people treat victims and it's mostly good stuff but AGAIN this is coming from the guy whose fans have doxxed countless people and who instantly mocked people for caring about serious abuse reports. He never makes this parallel, he never points out that he has undoubtedly done more harm to victims with his bullshit, he just puts himself on a moral high ground and its really obnoxious. I cannot emphasize enough how fucking annoying and self congratulatory this man is holy fuck.

EDIT: Initially I had a point here about how little Dream went into the 24 page document released compiling evidence against him, but I was informed this came out right before the video's release, a day before or on the same day it appears. I thought incorrectly it had come out earlier, I will say I still believe he needs to address this in the future, check my reblog for more details.

1:17:00 - This is a doozy and will be my closing point. Dream spends a bit talking about 'false allegations' and calls it a popular trend, happening to hundreds of online creators. IRL, false allegations for rape are severely exaggerated and, if anything, rape is horribly under reported. Women are significantly more likely to be raped then men are to be 'falsely accused' and, when you factor in how horrible the justice system is towards victims, rape culture, how difficult it can be to prove something like rape and how low the rates of successful convictions are, the truth is that a lot of 'disproven' cases are true and were just brushed aside. Furthermore, all crimes have 'false allegations' yet the only one to ever be discussed is rape because it's an easy out. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that rape has comparatively low rates of 'false allegations' compared to other crimes but idk. I know the internet is different, I know people make up lies all the time but I am NOT fucking keen on how much Dream emphasizes false allegations as a common thing when IRL they are not. I am NOT looking forward to every content creator from now on claiming its just 'false accusations' and people falling for it because their favourite Minecraft YouTube insisted it was an epidemic. I am NOT keen for discussions of victims and rape culture to be dominated by this shit and for victims to continue to be silenced and disbelieved. I think you have to be very, very fucking careful when talking about 'false allegations' and I do not think Dream of all people is remotely capable of giving this the nuance it needs. This is gonna be so fucking unbearable in the future to deal with and every single fandom will latch onto this to brush off potential red flags, I guarantee.

“C’mon you saw Miguel kicked ass,” Eli attempted to get Demetri on board with the whole karate thing.

“It’ll be fun,” you placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder before he had the chance to knock down any positive thought.

You stayed huddled together, your shoulder brushing with Eli’s every so often.

“Quiet!” a loud voice shouted and you all flinched, the dojo dying down. “Face front,” he scanned over the group before he began snaking through, taking a look at all of you. 

You felt a little self-conscious when he approached, your gaze trying not to meet his.

“Nice shirt,” he complimented Demetri and you were taken aback. “I’m joking. It sucks,” he was quick to take it back after Demetri thanked him.

He then went on, telling someone he had terrible teeth and calling another a virgin. 

“When I look around this dojo, I don’t see Cobra Kai material,” he began. “I see losers, I see nerds,” he added.

You glanced down, regretting you showed up. If he was just going to bully you like Yasmine and Moon, then what was the point?

“But in my short time as a sensei, I’ve also seen some miracles,” he looked over to his first two students; Aisha and Miguel. 

You smiled slightly at that, maybe you were too quick to judge just like he was.

“So maybe there’s some hope for you yet,” he did another scan. “But first I need to see where everybody is at, so fall in!” he ordered. 

You all glanced at each other, murmuring in confusion. 

“Line up!” he clarified.

Thinking he meant to lind up behind Aisha and Miguel, you followed the crowed. You stood between Eli and Demetri while you awaited the next orders.

“No lines,” he sighed out, running a hand over his face.

“You mean rows?” Demetri spoke up. 

You stifled a laugh. This was exactly what you expected when you decided to join Cobra Kai.

The next day at practice, you all managed to get into rows. 

You stood behind Miguel. Demetri and Eli stood next to you in the row. 

“Fighting positions,” Sensei barked.

You got into position, raising your fists and making sure your stance was proper. 

“Jab punch,” he said but didn’t order to go so you waited, though a few didn’t listen. “No, not until I say go,” he added for clarity. “Hiya,” he gave the all-clear.

You followed through with the motion, left fist then right, making sure you used the weight of your body to help. 

He went around, correcting students until he came to the front. “Hey, Lip,” he called out and immediately your blood rushed cold. “Yeah, you. The one with the freaky lip, who do you think I’m talking about?” 

Eli faltered, his gaze dropping. 

“Excuse me, Mr. Lawrence,” Demetri spoke up. 

You inhaled, not knowing if that was a good idea or a bad idea. As much as you wanted to stand up for Eli, your boyfriend for crying out loud, you also knew Sensei was kind of a bully. You didn’t know how to stand up to them yet…

“Sensei Lawrence,” Aisha corrected. 

“Okay,” Demetri chuckled. “You really shouldn’t make fun of someone’s physical appearance,” he explained.

You agreed wholeheartedly but that feeling in your stomach told you he should shut up.

“Is that so?” Sensei’s brows raised. “So I’m not supposed to mention his lip at all?” he pointed at Eli. 

His brows creased together, biting down when the entire class’s attention fell on him. 

“Well, yeah,” Demetri said point-blankly. 

“Maybe that’s what they teach you in school, but out in the real world, you can’t expect people to do what they’re supposed to do,” Sensei pointed. 

You felt inclined to agree but at the same time, you wanted him to stop making fun of Eli. There was no harm in being nice.

“You hear that lip?” Sensei called Eli’s attention again. “If you can’t handle someone making fun of you, how are you gonna handle an elbow to the teeth?” he asked.

Are those equivalent though? You asked yourself. You bit down on your lip, holding your hands behind you as you watched as a bystander.

“By calling the police,” Demetri suggested.

You glanced at Miguel as he told him to knock it off and you couldn’t help but agree. Still, you didn’t say anything. 

Speaking up will only make it worse.

“Why should I be scared of him? Because he’s got a snake on the wall?” Demetri gestured. “It’s not like he can give us a bad grade, we’re paying him,” he made a note to emphasize. “He can’t actually hurt us”.

The feeling in your gut grew, something bad definitely was going to happen.

You were right.

Sensei stayed quiet but stalked over to your best friend. 

“Are you done?” he came face to face with him. 

Demetri looked confused, the rest of the students circling around. You sent Eli a worried look, one he returned.

“Go on, hit me,” Sensei ordered. 

Demetri got into the stance and attempted to throw a punch but was easily blocked, the hit not even hard.

“Harder,” he said. 

Reluctantly, Demetri did again but failed. The third time, Sensei actually flipped him onto his back. 

Demetri huffed out in pain and most likely embarrassed.

“Let that be a lesson to all of you,” Sensei pointed a finger around. 

You averted your gaze, fidgeting on your feet. You weren’t sure whether or not to call that a close one.

“Do you still want to go?” you asked Eli as you sat in study hall.

You felt more at ease now, Kyler not messing with any of you now knowing Miguel would beat his ass if he got caught messing with his friends. 

“Yeah,” he set his pen down. “I think what Sensei says is a little true,” he shrugged. 

“Me too,” you agreed. “I’m not happy about what he did to Demetri though,” you shrugged.

“He quit, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem anymore,” he responded. 

You nodded, deciding maybe it was for the best. He had a bad experience, but it was clear you two wanted to learn self-defense. 

“What about you though? He calls you “Lip”,” you furrowed your brows. 

“I can take it,” he averted your gaze, voice softening. “I want to go back,” he reassured.

You pressed your lips together. 

It was an easy answer, you were going back.

The third time’s a charm, right?

Wrong.

“Okay, everybody, fall in,” Sensei walked out of his office.

You and Eli took your places. 

“Where is everyone?” Sensei glanced around the emptier dojo. 

You glanced over your shoulder as he named out the hurtful nicknames he called out. 

Gee, wonder why they left. 

Part of you was proud of Eli, even after the bullying he received, he had the desire to come back. That took guts and it only made you like him more. 

“They quit, Sensei,” Miguel answered.

“Are you serious?” he dropped his arms to his side. “I mean, good, that was a test,” he recovered. “I wanted to see who the quitters were. Not you guys, you’re in it to win it, right?” he attempted to encourage and you gave in, nodding slightly. 

He went on, saying how you could be doing other things but instead chose to learn how to fight. Which you figured was a good thing.

“Lip. Look. Even Lip’s tougher than those guys,” he pointed at Eli.

You sighed out. This could have been better. 

“Could you please not call me that?” Eli spoke up, which caught you by surprise but your pride grew even though you weren’t sure how this would go again. 

He repeated what he said after Sensei didn’t catch it but Miguel butted in, hoping to diverge the situation.

“No, Lip has something he wants to say,” Sensei brushed off. “Sorry, speak up, Lip. Or is your tongue messed up too?” He taunted.

You saw the way Eli’s demeanor changed but you were unsure how to help. But your eyes widened when Sensei made a comment that didn’t sit well with you.

“Um, the doctor said I could be on the spectrum,” Eli reluctantly responded. 

Your heart fell. He shouldn’t have had to explain himself. 

Sensei made an obscure suggestion for him to “get off it pronto” and then followed with him getting surgery to “fix” his lip.

“I was born with a cleft lip. This is the scar from the surgery,” Eli explained. 

Part of you wanted to go up and kiss him right there to prove to everyone he wasn’t a loser. But you couldn’t find any ounce of courage within you to do it. 

“You mean it looked worse before?” Sensei’s brows rose.

“Can we change the subject?” Eli’s eyes darted across the room, unsure of how to diffuse the conversation. 

“I want to but it’s right in front of me,” Sensei made the situation worse. “If you don’t want to just be a nerd with a scar on his lip, then you gotta flip the script, okay?” He told him, bringing up more suggestions of getting a tattoo or a patch. 

The more he spoke, the more Eli got nervous. Without another thought, he walked out of the dojo through the back.

You hesitated running after him, but you were honestly afraid to face the scrutiny of Sensei. 

You would check on him after class you told yourself. 

And you did. 

You rode your bike to his house first thing after class.

Knocking on the front door, you wrung your lip between your teeth as you waited in anticipation.

“Hi, Mrs. Moskowitz, is Eli here? He left his shoes and bag at the dojo,” you held up his items. “He also hasn’t been responding to my messages,” you pulled your sleeves over your hands after she took his belongings from you.

“Hi, hon,” she greeted. “He’s not really up for company at the moment, I’m sure once he feels better he’ll talk,” she pressed her lips in a reassuring smile. 

“Okay, thanks. Can you let him know I just hope he’s okay?” you asked.

“For sure, but can you tell me what happened? He won’t talk,” her face pinched in concern as she crossed her arms over her chest.

“The teacher is a little tougher than we thought,” you shrugged, not wanting to give too much away since you knew Eli’s mom would blow things out of proportion.

You also knew Eli would rather forget about this ever happening. 

“Thanks for stopping by,” his mom nodded before shutting the door.

He wasn’t at school the next day either. 

You stared at your phone, going through the unreceived messages before locking it and throwing it in your bag. 

A few minutes later, class started. 

You were lined up next to Miguel when Sensei walked out in front of you. 

“Three more absences,” Miguel sighed.

“A bunch of pussies,” Aisha mocked.

“No, it’s my fault,” Sensei admitted and you were shocked. “Since you joined, I’ve been hard on you. But Cobra Kai is about strength. If you’re not strong on the inside, you can’t be strong on the outside,”

He went on to say that he once used to be a loser until he shed his skin and became badass.

You nodded along, each word hitting. You knew he was right and maybe that’s why you decided to come back even though your friend and boyfriend decided to quit. 

You didn’t want to be a loser anymore that was an easy target for Yasmine or Moon. You wanted to be the badass who knew how to stand up for herself. 

You knew deep down this is what you needed to do to get to that point.

Just then someone entered.

Your eyes widened in shock, heart rate rising as you stared at the boy with the blue mohawk. 

He radiated such confidence that you gravitated towards him. When you glanced into his eyes, that’s when you realized who it was.

“Eli?” you furrowed your brows, staring at the boy you fell in love with in kindergarten who looked entirely different.

“I took your advice, and decided to flip the script,” he smirked.

The tone of his voice, his stance, his gaze—he was an entirely different person.

You were taken aback…in a good way. 

“Woah, you’re the kid with the lip?” Sensei Lawrence pointed at him. “You see, this is what I’m talking about,” he smiled as he pumped his fist. “Hawk,” he snapped his fingers. “Fall in”.

The name was fitting.

He stood next to Aisha.

Sensei scanned across the room before he opened his mouth, standing in front of Hawk.

“Fear does not exist in this dojo, does it?” he asked him.

“No, Sensei,” Hawk squared his shoulders. 

“Pain does not exist in this dojo, does it?” 

“No, Sensei,” Aisha shook her head.

“Defeat does not exist in this dojo, does it?” 

“No, Sensei,” Miguel affirmed.

With approval, Sensei turned around before he shouted, “Class, are you ready to learn the way of the fist?”

You all responded firmly.

“Yes, Sensei!”

I would love to participate more and share my opinions on characters of the show and how many themes and topics can have so many complex ramifications. I love how a lot of the characters are built in a way that applying a human point of view to their issues is not entirely possible but also humanity cannot be separated from them either. Their nature as robots, and how they experience trauma, and events that would be impossible for humans due to physical limitation (like how coding can force someone to do something against their will) make for such an interesting story to analyze!

But the truth is this fandom has made me very wary about doing such a thing. :(

I feel like things would be a lot more chill if people reblogged what they liked, ignored what they don't, and just all around were more civil about character interpretations. I've seen a lot of people being enraged and attacking others, or making vague posts that target whole groups within the fandom and it's actually very sad. Clearly people care a lot about these characters, which is wonderful, but putting them above real people and getting nasty to said people in consequence is something that needs to stop.

I understand getting frustrated or tired of seeing certain takes because you feel they are not taking into account this or that thing shown about the character, especially if it's a fave or comfort one. I've felt that too! But posts that are unnecessarily aggressive (and examples of the phrases I'll give are no quotes of anything as I haven't looked at the tag in more than half a year, more like vague examples of what has crossed my dash now and again for months now) that have phrases like "hey can we stop treating x character like blank?", "the fandom needs to acknowledge (subjective opinion) already", "people don't want to understand this about this character", "oh yeah everyone loves x but hates y I wonder why" . Or even posts that are downright poisonous towards the people that work on the show. I myself have my criticisms, but I don't want to see such intense hate about it.

This is a silly show in the internet. One I love with all my heart, and that has some seriously good moments, but I feel like taking a step back, remembering that this is a youtube fanfic role-play about fnaf characters that is so far removed from the base material that it became a whacky charming series to follow, would greatly help diminish the amount of discourse that has been growing for long. People interpreting a character differently from you is not illegal. It's not a moral failing. What you see in a character as a positive might be a horrible negative for someone else. This is shaped by your experience as a human being and other people will have different experiences that make them look at something completely differently than you. This is a good thing! It can lead to nice conversations that make you realize something you didn't take into account! But it's not your duty or your right to change their mind. The moment it starts turning into an argument it's best to step away. Admit you two simply don't take the same message or interpretation as the other person from the same scene and walk away. Be nice. Be kind. Fandom is meant to be fun. You can hold fictional characters close to your heart. Just don't go hurting someone real for the sake of defending someone fictional.

When people would think about you and Jennifer Check, they’d think Snow White and The Evil Queen. Where one would go, the other would follow. They’d wonder how the two of you could be best friends with such extreme differences in personalities. You were someone that was too sweet, so kind and lovable. You’d always think and put others before yourself, always so caring. How could something so sweet be surrounded by something so dark? But they never saw what happens behind closed doors or when no one is watching, even in the darkest corners of the school. 

You and Jennifer are hanging in your bedroom, you lie on your back on your bed. Hair sprawled out underneath you, your mouth open as squeals escape you. Your eyes screwed shut as Jennifer leans over you, her perfectly manicured fingers digging into your sides as she tickles you. Your soft, sweet laugh brings a real smile to her lips, one only reserved for you. 

“Jen!” You gasp, sucking in a sharp breath as she continues, your giggles bouncing off the walls. “Stop!” You wiggle underneath her, trying to escape her torturous fingers but you’re trapped. Your tear-filled eyes slowly open, connecting with her pretty blue ones.

Suddenly it felt as though everything had stopped. Time had slowed down, silence replacing the once joyous laughter. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears, followed by the heavy breathing that escapes you and Jennifer. Has she always been this beautiful? When did your palms become so sweaty? Slowly your eyes drift down to her plump pink lips, you watch as her tongue swipes against her lips, wetting them. 

Jennifer watches you, her eyes hazy as they drift down to your lips, watching them part and breathy gasps escape them. “Snowy…” Her voice raspy, but soothing. It suited her. Her nickname that she made after hearing what people called them fell from her lips. Jennifer’s hand cups your cheek, her thumb stroking it as her gaze flickers between your eyes and lips. “I don’t wanna hurt you, Baby Snow.” Her thumb moves against your plump bottom lip, watching you squirm beneath her. “You’re the only good thing I have…”

Your eyes widen as your hands move to grasp her hips, wanting to keep her as close to you as possible. She was your queen in your eyes, what people said was true. She was The Evil Queen, but never to you. You were her little Snow White or Baby Snow or Snowy. You’d kneel before her if it meant you could be hers forever. “Y–you won’t. I trust you, Jen. I always have and always will.” Your voice small and sweet, just like you. 

And as those words slipped from your pretty red lips, all control Jennifer had broken, slipping through her fingers. Her lips crash against yours, eyes slipping closed, both hands cupping your cheeks and she presses her whole body against you, wanting to get closer. You let out a soft moan, following her movements, your grip on her hips tighten before they slide up her back and into her hair, tugging on it causing moans to fall from her lips. 

Her tongue swipes against your bottom lip, smirking as you eagerly open your mouth, whining as her tongue slips inside, dominating you before you can even think. You were hers forever, the marks she left on you that night proved it to everyone. 

It felt like the fairytale you had always dreamed of.

I love DR3 specifically for the future arc and only future arc cause my gooooodddd I've never hold onto Makoto's character tighter since DR1 and I MEAN IT.

There are a few thoughts I have and after that one post I reblog I HAVE to talk about it.

In DR1 I don't THINK he would make murder as something optional, considering the situation he was in, that would just be what Monokuma– what junko– wanted. Even if it comes to defending himself if he were to ever be the blackened's victim, he'd prolly just tried to see if there was a way to escape, or just punch his way out of it (the whole sayaka situation and all prolly does not sit right with him).

But that's it. He may not consider murder optional in DR1 but he won't hesitate to hurt when it comes to self-defense in the most devastating moment. He would, consider decking someone like Monokuma a few times but those are just the "food for thought" kinda thing for him. Not like he actually WOULD do it, rules or not, but he does think about it at least.

As for FF!Makoto– or DR3 Makoto, he was *outside* of Junko's confinement, he sees how the world became and *did* some things in order to gather all the remnants of despair. There is no doubt he would probably hurt– hurt, not kill– some people wearing the brainwash helmet. Cause again, these people aren't in their own will, and it's not their fault (though perhaps some were, while others would do so in their own will).

He doesn't have to take the option to kill during outside because there are lots of other options to take. He could ran away, he has a weapon, he has his friends with him.

But when trapped inside the FF building (doesn't that bring back good memories) there was NO other options that could make him avoid murder. There was nowhere left to run (he can't even run!!), he doesn't have a weapon, he was depended too much on his friends and risking his friends by slowing them down just for him.

And after Kirigiri died, and her last words flashes back to him in his dreadful, silent walk in the hallway to face Munakata, to "dont give up hope". There are lots of indication behind those words, and what led to Makoto in doing all those deadly traps. Kirigiri *trusted* him that he could move forward after her inevitable fate, his survival is *her* hope that she left, and she willingly die to keep him alive because she trusted him that he could and save the world even without her, she isn't wrong when she call him the ultimate Hope.

And how can he refused her dying wish?

Maybe, just maybe, that when he had his short breakdown afterward all alone in that hallway, not only that the fact Kirigiri just died had come back to slap him on the face that caused him to cry, but maybe, it's also because he *realizes* what he *has* to do in order to survive, in order to continue spreading hope, in order to keep Kirigiri's hope and everyone else's living.

That is keep on talking to Munakata, or trying to understand him in amidst of everything, will just won't get to him and led him to kill and hurt more others. Then Makoto has *no other choice* in order to stop him in the hard way.

He wouldn't like it. But progress won't be made if Munakata didn't stop this whole "trying to kill him and every despair" ordeal.

(I wonder, if by then, he mentally apologised to Chisa for unable to understand Munakata, despite all the tries, for letting her down, that he had failed. I wonder, when Chisa requested Makoto to try and understand Munakata, is that a small bit of what was left of her real self slipped out, or is it the despair that was talking, knowing fully well in using Makoto's "seeing everything good in everyone" nature to his own demise?)

I wouldn't doubt that it would get to him afterward, if he does succeed. Even if he does still capable of killing for his own survival when *extremely* necessary, doesn't mean that he doesn't despised it whole.

One of my few problems with adopting Tumblr as my social media outlet of choice is the way reblogging your own threads to comment on them means you get this slow explosion of longer and longer posts, and all previous versions still exist on your timeline.

This got long, so musings about the differences in how long-text posts work on different social medias and the trouble with writing them on ADHD continued under the cut.

So if you scroll down my Tumblr account after a bunch of writing, you see:

And this is annoyingly repetitive especially as posts get long. Which is a definite risk, I can type SO FUCKING MUCH.

And you might say "this is easily fixed: posts don't have to be short (this isn't Twitter) so just put all the content in one post", which, no. I have ADHD. Coming back in the room to go "AND ANOTHER THING!" is my modus operandi, you know? I can't think of all the things I want to say and just say them in one place and go "OK DONE" and click a button and let the internet go read it now. I don't know what I am going to say until after I have said it, and especially not what I am going to say next.

And I worry that the way Tumblr compounds your threads in this additive explosion means that the threshold for "this is too much of this punk" is much lower than other social networks, and that's a real worry for someone who writes as much as I do. I am happy to write endlessly for my own entertainment but I don't want to be annoying, and having to repeatedly scroll past multiple copies of my endless threads is going to get old fast.

Also on the subject of "one long post vs many short ones in a thread", splitting a post and continuing in a reply post/reblog has a functional use: it's like a paragraph break, but moreso. So it's good for indicating a break in the thought, to shift focus, or to take a tangent. (and as someone with severe adhd, my brain is 90% tangents)

Anyway I'm thinking I might do something weird like build a private mastodon instance and then set it up to sync threads to Tumblr.

Like, collect a full thread of small posts, turn them into paragraphs, and post that to Tumblr as one big post. It will work better, I think.

Fundamentally the problem I am facing right now is that Twitter is the best site for how my brain works. Individual tweets in a thread are a close approximation for how I think, so writing a long series of tweets is easiest for me. In that format, I can write. I can be creative. I can express myself.

And don't get me wrong: I love Tumblr. This is easily one of my favorite places on the web. But the "big open white page with plenty of room to write" model is not a good fit for my brain. I look at that and I can't get started. If I can get started, I can't finish, because I get bogged down in going back and editing and rewording.

Short small snippets in a row, like IRC or Twitter, prevent those problems. I don't have to think about the whole thing I'm writing, because I don't have room to write that. I just focus on the current line, and once that's done, I move on to the next. Did I misspell something? Could that have been phrased better? Well, too bad. That line is done now, you can only move forward.

Yeah this may not result in a work of literary genius but it at least results in something. I am not a great writer, I'm never going to be a new york times best seller... But I'm not aiming that high. Writing like this, as a series of short snippets and not going back to fix and re-edit them? It's the only way I can write at all. (and if you have ADHD that gets in the way of your writing, I recommend trying it).

I'd rather write in this specific and limited style than not write at all. There's too many ideas in my head, I need to get them out.

Anyway the reason I'm thinking about this now is that this is why I've traditionally been a heavy Twitter user (though let the record show that I have been on Tumblr for longer!). It works for that style of writing, so I could flourish there.

But it's dying. Oh God, is it dying. And I'm having to think about what to do next. Where to "go".

And as an aside, it's always weird how we always phrase these things like migrations. Like people are backing up their bags from site A and getting on a train to site B.

Maybe it's just my ADHD talking, but that's never been how I've used the web. I am in many, many places simultaneously, and have been for a long time.

I'm active, to different degrees, on Tumblr and Twitter and reddit and discord and mastodon and cohost and Facebook and LinkedIn and IRC and email chains and BBSes. The only thing that change if I "move" is how much I focus on one over an another. If I have a shitpost in my head, where do I decide to post it? If I want to talk about something more serious, where do I go?

Obviously with Twitter dying I'm focusing more on other places. I joked to someone on Twitter that I'm currently sharding what used to be my Twitter posts to Tumblr and mastodon: Tumblr gets the shitpostier and transier stuff, mastodon gets the techier stuff. But that may change as I find the right balance going forward.

Or, regarding my "persona Jubilee" post, I might just stop. I have been this Foone for a while, it might be time to stop and rethink.

Anyway, the final wrinkle in this overlong post: I wrote this much on Tumblr, despite all my talking about not being able to do it. I think I'm basically doing this by channeling my "Twitter thread mood" and not going back up and editing. Who knows if that means I've actually managed to overcome my previous inability to just write free-form long content, or if this is just a limited trick that I can't keep up. Time will tell.

The post about Eiffel you just reblogged really reminded me of my impression of Eiffel about halfway through the live show i.e. he's someone who really can't stand to be alone with his thoughts. You know the way he either starts hallucinating people (mayday, bolero, brave new world) or talking to himself (am I alone now, live show) and the only time we really see him quiet and alone is right after shut up and listen. It's like if he stops talking for a second he'll have to be alone with his own thoughts and just be left to deal with reality on his own. In early seasons he gives off the impression of someone who is constantly trying to run away from something but the thing he's trying to escape is himself.

There's also something there about how he cannot see himself as a real person until someone explicitly confronts him about it. Until that point he can only process his experiences through fiction like turning his life into a story or through endless pop culture references. Idk if I'm making any sense here I'm sorry if this is too incoherent but to conclude thinking about Eiffel for too long makes me lose my mind.

YES, exactly!! i think that's all completely true. eiffel so desperately wants to narrativize his life. he talks to himself constantly. he talks about himself in the third person. like you said, it's how he processes the world and communicates via pop culture references and how the only time he stops doing that is also in constructive criticism. how sarah shachat said for eiffel to tell his story in limbo, he'd first have to make it a story. how he uses third person for all of the events up until the crash itself, and then it becomes "i"... and then in ep 44 "i felt like i was those mistakes. like i was just those mistakes."... and how in mayday he subconsciously puts his ideas into the mouths of other people - anything that might help him is externalized, is someone else's help that he's just reacting to, but when it goes wrong, it's always his fault.

ep 6 "the only things you've done for the past 500 days have been sleep on the job, endanger our lives, and continually make stupid jokes just to hide the fact that you're -" / ep 48 "it's taken me this long to realize that running from everyone else means that you're alone with yourself" / ep 51 "or are you just trying to not be bored for half a second? to distract yourself from how much you can't stand yourself?" etc.

there's something about how eiffel views himself as a vessel for communication more than an active agent (and the way that's mirrored in the dear listeners taking his voice/form), and also... how he sees himself as uniquely bad, uniquely doomed, etc. - other people are complicated and human and can always change, but not him. he has different rules for himself. confronting that in shut up and listen and then confronting himself both from a very internal and then a very external point of view in the finale is... a big part of why i feel the way i do about eiffel's memory. he's spent his whole life trying to get away from himself, and i just don't think it's satisfying or fitting with the themes of the show if in the end he actually kind of does. i think there's a good potential post-canon set up for eiffel needing to accept all versions of himself as himself to move forwards; it's just another step in line with his canon development - "the longer i didn't say anything, i felt like i was getting farther away from that person" - but he's still doug eiffel, and eventually he always has to deal with that. and maybe it'll be easier with people who want doug eiffel around.

Dealbreakers, I haven't encountered anyone, I guess it'd be just if I pushed to write or make smut centric, but no one is doing that.

MUSE PREFERENCES : I like characters that have an internal struggle (lol that could be anyone). I don't know. I try to write so many types of characters, but characters like Clint I always come back too. Honestly, whatever is the character type that's been Clint Barton and Pepper Potts.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : Both. I want more shorter threads right now, but I have a knack for getting wordy and writing long things. This is why length matching does not matter, as long as there is enough substance to continue or something to help move something forward; a shorter reply to a longer reply is good; just as I tend to take a shorter thing and get longer with. This is also why I tend to like or mention with meme responses, like you can just reblog/save this and treat this as little one shot/drabble I wrote for you. I also tend to do the same.

BEST TIME TO WRITE : I don't get a lot of work, I am home all the time. So i'm bored a lot. So literally anytime, although I have a tendency to write a lot more late at night. For me, why I'm not writing is usually mood, or I don't have a very good set up for writing long haul; so if my neck, back, or hands and wrist start to cramp up cause my sit down to write isn't a good position/only position. That usually defeats me; like after I post this I will probably take a break, stretch, keep on my break and write a bit in a few hours.

Hi I have no pictures for general but I wanted to say my personal interpretation absolutely has his shit custom made. There's a real good amount of it that he has made by Jervis (Mad Hatter) because Edward knows his friend genuinely does good work. Plus if no one is going to judge his weird requests...

Capullo/Zero Year

I actually took a picture of the issue 21 script in the back of my Zero Year comic. This explains multiple things about him outside of story such as: "He admits to wearing green because in nature, it attracts the female eye." That's it buddy that's the kicker.

His whole look, the costume... it's all a peacock showing its feathers. It's why his suit is one of the brighter greens of all the riddlers (also note matching his eyes. I would say that's intentional.)

He absolutely had this shit custom made. It's way too matching to his eyes, he even says himself it was expensive- The cane is up for debate but I don't remember him using it for any devices, so I'd say custom made by someone else as well.

BTAS

Okay so for a fact I know he made this cane himself because it has buttons he presses that activates devices in the show. Was it a cane he made completely from scratch or did he hollow out one he found? Unsure. At minimum he made heavy modifications.

I think you could argue either way that he either genuinely found a lot of his outfit himself OR had it made. One thing that was custom if nothing else is that tie. Make sure it matched the gloves and mask.

Arkham Games

So it depends. The Riddler goes through a very gradual clothing and design change throughout the games. We go from very well kept to grease monkey within the three games. We never physically see Riddler in Arkaham Asylum so we only have the picture to go off of. (Not counting origins because he's literally in plains clothes.)

In the first game, Arkham Asylum, everything is glitz and pretty high fashion- I think it's safe to say this is the high point of his criminal career so he can afford some really nice custom digs. More of a headcanon, but I'd like to say he asks Jervis (Mad Hatter) to do some of his tailoring. The cane here I'd say is also custom.

The middle, Akrham City, is where we start seeing the shift between high end to grease. Still a really nice suit and shit is definitely custom. He starts using the bulkier metal question mark cane here and I'm gonna say he made that himself. The question mark tie clip is definitely reminiscent to the first. This look also made an appearance in the comics:

You can see that the outfit is fairly normal work clothing besides his green goggles. At this point he is at the full point of his obsessions and being straight up unkempt. He is hand painting everything himself. As far as we know, expensive custom-made outfits are a thing of the past.

Batman 2022

This is all from the army surplus store. Online sales. Estate sales. Wherever he could find and put the right outfit together. He's going to war with the world.

His outfit is the darkest which... makes sense because he's the one hiding in the dark. Taking advantage of it. Painting his symbol to make the outfit truly his.

Artificial Incompetence

The conversations around "artificial intelligence" are getting a bit bonkers. Not that they're really conversations so much as screaming matches. And not that we're talking about true artificial intelligence so much as algorithm blending programs.

I don't like the recent fad of ABPs. It has a lot of the same earmarks and defenders as NFTs had, and boy howdy did that not work out well for folks. I don't think ABPs have been tied to the fake currency market, but their current implementation is still going to do more harm than good, in my opinion.

I'm not gonna say that writing or art should be "hard" or that people need to "struggle" in order to create things. I do, however, believe that they need to do the goddamn work themselves. Feeding prompts into a content generator doesn't make you a writer or artist. Well, scam artist, maybe. It's taking words/brush strokes from someone else and claiming credit for it. Even if you mention you used an ABP you still didn't create the art yourself, you just fed a program some prompts or the name of some artists you like and it spat out something you claimed as your own.

That's one of the big hangups I have with this fad: taking credit for someone else's work. Reaping all the perceived benefits (kudos, reblogs, etc) without actually doing anything to earn it.

If I give someone a prompt and they write a fic based on it, that story isn't mine. Sure, they might mention I gave them the prompt, but they were the one to write the actual story. Not me. My name doesn't go on the author line and I can't boast to others about the fic I wrote. Because I didn't.

I'm all for accessibility tools to help people complete tasks, and if ABPs were being widely used to help make creative efforts more accessible, I might have a different opinion. As it stands, however, the vast majority of people currently using ABPs aren't using them to help with their own creativity, they're using them as a substitute.

The arguments about data scraping and plagiarism are important, especially if we want to make sure that ABPs stop doing that, but from where I stand it still all boils down to people trying to loophole past responsibility and effort.

It gets worse when you switch gears from fic writing to essays and articles. At least in fiction stuff is supposed to be made up, so, all jokes aside, if some details are wrong it doesn't really matter.

When students start submitting essays to their teachers that they didn't write or sites try using an ABP to write articles, facts become a lot more important. And ABPs are infamous for making shit up whole cloth, even to the point of citing imaginary sources for their facts. That is, quite frankly, dangerous.

You think the past few years (decades, centuries) of misinformation have been bad? It can get a whole lot worse. These programs can seed in just enough "real" information to sell their bullshit as legitimate, and if even some experts have to double-check stuff to figure out what's false, where does that leave the rest of us? Especially all the ones who don't fact check at all before reblogging/believing something they read?

I think the future of artificial intelligence- real artificial intelligence- could be incredibly cool, and when the first AI submits a fic to AO3 I hope I'm around to read it. Right now, though, it's less about exploring potential and all about exploiting it.

The body part is in the name. Its not like, a code word. It did not come from any sort of attempt to destigmatize small dicks. It could not more clearly be based in the idea that having a big dick is seen as being something cool, powerful, and worthy. That is a basic fact of modern Western culture, and you would have to be wildly disconnected from modern Western culture to think that isn't the reason the jokes became popular in the first place.

It is not "miles better" than without the energy part. It is the exact same. People (transmascs and intersex people especially) who are directly impacted by this, because it is directly mocking our bodies, are saying that this is bodyshaming because it directly leads to our own self-hatred and the undervaluing of our bodies in society. If anything, its helping to continue normalizing this bodyshaming because of people like you, who for some reason that escapes me, think that putting "energy" after bodyshaming negates the bodyshaming.

Also, are you fucking kidding me? Really? "its been around forever so its not gonna go away anytime soon"? Are you really using that tired argument?

I know its been around for a while. I have, in fact, literally said that I don't blame people for using it without realizing its bodyshaming because its so ingrained in our culture and its not a well-known enough issue for the average person to even connect it with bodyshaming. I just want people who hear people explain why its harmful to stop making those jokes and stop defending them. I'm not "acting as if its life or death", I'm just annoyed that people keep making weak arguments about why it Totally Isnt Bodyshaming to avoid doing any self-reflection on how something that you take for granted may actually be harmful and against your own morals.

Literally the first things I did when I heard the news was make a post celebrating it, and reblogging the actual screenshots, and answering an ask saying that I live for the day Andrew Tate falls into obscurity. I didn't even mention the bodyshaming until someone else brought it up, and I mentioned how I was annoyed with people's lame justifications. But also, in the tags:

You are just being actively resistant to the fact that connecting having a small penis, in any way, shape, or form, to being less of a man or worth less as a person or less cool or whatever is bodyshaming and it hurts people. If you can be as creative with your insults as you are with your defenses of bodyshaming, I'm sure you'll be fine.
