In music, consonance and dissonance are categorizations of simultaneous or successive sounds. Within the Western tradition, some listeners associate consonance with sweetness, pleasantness, and acceptability, and dissonance with harshness, unpleasantness, or unacceptability, although there is broad acknowledgement that this depends also on familiarity and musical expertise. The terms form a structural dichotomy in which they define each other by mutual exclusion: a consonance is what is not dissonant, and a dissonance is what is not consonant. However, a finer consideration shows that the distinction forms a gradation, from the most consonant to the most dissonant. In casual discourse, as German composer and music theorist Paul Hindemith stressed, "The two concepts have never been completely explained, and for a thousand years the definitions have varied". The term sonance has been proposed to encompass or refer indistinctly to the terms consonance and dissonance.

New fusion!!!

One of my "Wheel of Fusion" prompts was to draw a fusion between the protagonists of my Fix-ItFelixJrAU: Fix-It Felix Jr. and Kane Candy. The result is Dissonance!

Dissonance came out to be a rather unstable fusion, for a multitude of reasons. In addition to the secrets Kane has tried to hide from Felix, and still tries to hide while fused, Felix also considers Kane to be meek, and thus doesn't trust that their fusion would be stable. With this distrust, the now conflicting personalities, and a combination of Kane's PTSD and Felix's sadistic and depressive attitude, Dissonance came out very unbalanced.

Dissonance's Sugar Rush theme is wintergreen flavored mints- which is fitting since some people say that wintergreen mints taste sweet like rootbeer, and others say it taste nasty like medicine... Me? Idk. Mint is mint to me.

If dissonance is so corrosive to reality itself, how is it even contained at all? You know, to put in weapons and such. Is there some special resistant material, or something?

WELL AFTER I INVENTED THE FIRST IMPROBABILITY DRIVE, I HAD DISCOVERED THAT CERTAIN MATERIALS COULD BE GIVEN PROTECTION AGAINST REALITY CORROSIVE SUBSTANCES!! THINK OF IMPROBABILITY ITSELF AS EVERYTHING THAT COULD HAPPEN, SO IF YOU IMBUE IT TO SOMETHING LIKE, SAY, GLASS, IT'LL HAVE THE OPPOSITE EFFECT THAT DISSONANCE DOES!!! THEY CANCEL EACH OTHER OUT AND IT BECOMES STABLE. IT'S ALL REALLY NOT THAT COMPLICATED!!

Dissonance

I want to write a poem So bad that it makes people say, "This isn't ours." "This doesn't happen here." "Not here in Canada." A poem so unsatisfactory There's no response but to ignore (Another death, but then That's happened there before. This isn't us; It doesn't happen here.)

I want to write a poem that fills the world with anger A poem poor in every way Not that I couldn't write it well, But that I didn't wish to try. A poem that offends all groups, all creeds A poem that demands catharsis, Offers none - A poet fights with words and not a gun. (Two soldiers dead; How many more Before this poem's done?)

I want to write a poem that makes everyone want to disown it To turn away, to say, "This doesn't happen here." To claim it only happens far away Some unseen place across the world While here we're safe, And here we're sane (Infants stabbed and children nabbed And parents murdered in the midst of prayer - That doesn't happen here. It only happens there.)

And I want to make my poem viral Not in its reach, but in its mode: I want to write a poem that makes people sick. Turning stomachs, boggling minds And I want its feeble form to haunt, Its weak-writ words to cling to you No matter how you try to wash them off With all the sharpness of a blade, And all the stickiness of blood. (The images are haunting in your mind: But still, you know, They didn't happen here.)

I want to write a poem that's the lyrical equivalent of fingernails scratching on a blackboard Of a corrupted, glitching file that won't close: I want to write a poem dissonant with all the voices of the dead. (Do they say, too, "This didn't happen here"? But then, they know, And will not speak, And still we just ignore their silent words.)

I want to write a poem Not of heroes, villains, martyrs But just composed of words: Too empty to mean, And too hollow to help, And too present and too grating to be simply pushed away Of which people can't just say, "This doesn't happen here." The words that weren't pleasing were still written. The actions that you don't approve still happened here. (How far away until they see? Another continent? Another country, state? Another man? Another me? It didn't happen here.)

I know a poet can't bring justice And I can't force the world to read my words, But I want to write a poem That divides the world into two camps: Those who are bothered by it, And those who are not. Those who say of it: "This isn't poetry," "This isn't Canada," "This doesn't happen here" - And those who never heard of it.

I want to write a poem whose sole purpose is to make the world a little worse Because since I can't right this wrong, I swear to write this wrong So that maybe, When the world's so broken that there's nothing left to break We can start to build. And I'd rather break things with a poem than a life.

And Paradox's opinion on Dissonance?

(This one's gonna be good. And I feel like Nala would sometimes tell people, like AU Felix, about this version of Bls and Bo, how she loathes them, bragging about her power over them, and mocking them too........ Actually, she does do that. She would also tell people not to trust them. Or at least try to.)

Dissonance is confused. Kane Candy would be staring up at Paradox through the fusion, feeling so lost when he hears that Blast and Boost Nitro are both in this fusion. He wouldn't understand how, and why they looked the way they did, but regardless, he is already crying and shaking through Dissonance, and he is smiling... AU Felix wouldn't understand why Kane would react the way he is since he still thinks Kane is a glitch from Sugar Rush; although, he himself feels heavy hearted when gazing up at Paradox. As a whole, Dissonance can't believe it.

As for Paradox, Bls and Bo were staring down at Dissonance. Bls and Bo both shared an arcade with a Fix-It Felix Jr in the past; they both thought he was an annoying carpenter, although Bls thinks this version of him is not too bad. Since Felix doesn't even know Kane is truly Turbo, neither do these guys, but Bls is staring at the fusion suspiciously.

You know, I think the worst thing about being chronically ill is the constant knowledge that one day you could just be too much for people. They could just throw up their hands and walk away, despite the fact that most of it is something you have no control over, despite the fact that you tried your hardest to make it up for them. Despite the fact that they love you, and you know they do.

There's constantly a pressure to be better, to be perfect, to recover, and you know it's an unobtainable goal. The more you try to drive yourself to it the more they'll expect it from you and the more they'll be disappointed and dismissive when you fail. But if you don't, you're too much and you're seen as not trying hard enough, not giving enough. As if you want to be sick and cared for all the time. It makes them leave faster.

You constantly make demands on others that you yourself would find unreasonable without understanding the source, and you know most people don't understand. They don't understand that you won't ever get better. They don't understand why, and most of the time you don't either.

If you push yourself too much, eventually you start to believe it too. "I'm fine, I got over this last wave so I'm better now. I'm fine, it's only a minor wave, I can work through it. I'm fine, it's only a migraine from stress. I'm fine. Why am I not fine?"

I don't know if I'll ever get over the subconscious bias that I should be fine, that I'm making it up, that I'll recover eventually. I feel like I'm constantly mourning the life I could've had, and at the same time believing I still could have it if I just work hard enough, push myself far enough.

But the truth is that'll never happen.

The cognitive dissonance is enough to make someone have a breakdown, between where they are and where they feel they should be, where they're told they should be. I don't feel I'll ever catch up to that standard.
