meet me under the mistletoe
pairing xavier thorpe x reader
summary in which a “fool-proof” set up leads to a first kiss.
warnings first kiss. fluff. friends to lovers.
i no longer support percy hynes white and i do not write for xavier thorpe anymore.
Enid and Ajax have been clearly flirting. though they will deny it to god’s end, it’s obvious. they clearly have feelings for one another, wednesday even said that thing overheard them talking about it. they just won’t admit it to their friends.
however, enid and ajax would say the same about you and xavier.
even so, you and xavier came up with a fool proof plan. right in the doorway of his room, xavier placed mistletoe.
enid and ajax loved these kinds of cliches, as did you. hence the idea. all you had to do was get them to stand under it, and they’d kiss. they’d excuse it as “rules are rules.”
the pair of you were sitting on xavier’s bed, waiting for the others to arrive. you laid under his arm, scrolling through his phone extremely comfortably. you were really warm and safe there. xavier always made you feel that way.
there was a firm knock on the door, in a rhythm unmistakable to be wednesday.
you opened the door, and she was alone, staring directly at the green and red spring taped to the wood.
“mistletoe?”
“you enid and ajax, obviously,” xavier said, mocking her crude tone. wednesday peered up at him, looking more annoyed than usual, and walked in.
“seems good enough. enid definitely is the type to do that.”
you agreed, and went back to scrolling with xavier while wednesday read her notes from her most recent mystery.
the next knock was undeniably ajax. you, wednesday, and xavier all exchanged similar looks before you and the artist jumped up to the door.
you laughed as you both reached for the door handle, standing side by side. after a bit of silent bickering, xavier let you open the door and leaned against your back.
enid and ajax were standing scarily close to one another out in the hall. xavier had his goofy smile on his face, standing directly in the door.
you stood closer to him, still not letting the other couple in.
you hadn’t really thought this plan through.
“hey, mistletoe!” enid said, pointing directly above your heads.
you almost think you heard wednesday laugh.
“rules are rules,” ajax said. “gotta kiss, bros.”
you and xavier exchanged another look. you couldn’t tell if he wanted to laugh or cry, but he leaned into your ear.
“is that okay?” he asked, loud enough for only you two to hear.
“rules are rules, right?”
you back away slightly, enough for to bring your lips to xavier’s.
electricity coursed through your veins. your lips felt like puzzle pieces together. he tasted really nice, warm.
his hands found your hips quickly, and yours went to the nape of him neck and into his hair.
you don’t know how long you’d been standing there, but it must’ve been an embarrassingly long time.
“guys.”
xavier pulled away, “shit sorry, come in guys.”
enid giggled, slipping between the pair of you with ajax’s wrist in her hand.
xavier went to close the door and his arm flew around your shoulders like second nature. like they belonged there. he leaned back down,
“maybe what they say about us is right.”
“maybe it is, thorpe,” you said smugly, acting as though you disagreed. despite your tone, you leaned closer to xavier’s frame. “get that smile off of your face, enid.”

Xavier was coming out of his bathroom, sweatpants low on his waist and one around his neck to dry his hair and no shirt on, when you knocked on his door. He takes a moment to rub the water out of his hair before throwing the towel in his hands onto the foot of his bed.
“Hi baby.” Xaviers face lights up when he opens his door to reveal you with snacks in one hand and an extra blanket in the other. “So I was thinking we should go either comedy or horror tonight?” you proposed while you brushed past him to set your things onto his desk.
For a moment he’d forgotten why you were there, it was Friday, your movie nights. He wasn’t completely sure when they began but he certainly wasn’t going to complain about spending time with his favorite person. Sometimes you’d switch off between your dorms, however after the events with Rowan went down movie nights took place in his room more often than not. No roommate to interrupt the peace during whatever movie you or Xavier had picked and nobody to comment on the way you supposedly looked at one another — your roommate, Yoko, loved to point it out no matter how many times you’d denied it. Though both of you had feelings for each other, there was no chance in hell you were going to risk the relationship you had.
Xavier had a crush on you from the beginning of your friendship while your’s came a couple of months later. There were little things each of you did to show your affection for the other so as to not say your feelings outright. You’d keep a hair tie on your wrist at all times for when he inevitably forgets his somewhere, while he’ll give you little drawings most days. Sometimes they’d be of you in class or something he’d seen and thought you might like. Every time it was the latter he made a mental note to make it come to life for you at some point.
“Xav? What do you think?” you speak, breaking the boy from his thoughts.
“Oh uh whatever you want. Isn’t it your turn to pick anyway?” he shrugs.
“Y’know that I like to pick something we’ll both like.”you mutter, walking closer to him. Quickly, you bring your arms around him and pull him into a hug. Both you and Xavier stand in the middle of his room for what feels like forever, enjoying the warmth of his skin radiating out into the shared space between you.
Stepping back slightly, your eyes wander across his naked torso and they stop on the marks ranging from dark to light that are lining the area above his hips. It’s not as if you hadn’t seen him shirtless before, but seeing them up close sparked something in you. Lifting a hand towards the marks you let it hover above his skin. “Can I…” Xavier is nodding before you can get another word out.
You begin to run your thumb across the markings, tracing over them, learning and memorizing the way that they feel under your skin, the supple skin bumping up against your fingers.
When you glance up at him, the worried look etched on Xaviers face isn’t hard to miss. Your heart stutters and your smile falters as you realize how he might feel in that moment.
“Hey, I’m sorry don’t worry, I think that they make you look pretty cute.” your voice is soft-spoken, trying to convey the truth to the long haired boy. Xaviers worries fade away a little bit as a smile is brought to his face, sensing the honesty in your voice. His smile grows slightly bigger when he still feels your fingers tracing over the marks.
“Thank you.” the words fall from his lips quickly. Though he was short with his response you knew that he meant it.
“Kiss me.” Both you and Xavier blurt out at the same time. His eyes widen in shock and your shoulders shake with laughter.
Xavier cups your cheek and brings his head down to yours, and presses his lips on yours for the first time. It felt as if sparks were flying around you two. When you break apart, Xavier has a goofy smile on his face that makes your heart melt.
“Come on pretty boy. It’s movie time.” you smile.

how i think xavier thorpe would be as a sub

once you have xavier, you HAVE him. this boy falls hard and once he does he is obsessed and wrapped around your finger. i'm talking showing up to your room nightly just for a goodnight kiss (and then probably not leaving your room at all) because he can't go without. he's most definitely following you around like a lost puppy whenever he can manage and you quite literally become his muse.
xavier hates to admit it, but he is clingy. he's constantly gotta be touching you. you're sitting next to each other in class? hand on your thigh. hanging out in the quad with friends? you have to be on his lap. walking around jericho? at least holding your hand if he can't walk with his arm around your waist.
during sex, his clingyness does not go away. his hands roam as much of your body as they can. he likes it when you're on top so he can slide his hands all the way up your thighs and torso all the way so he can grasp at your breasts and back down again. he's a touch starved boy, and it's so obvious. if you keep your hands off him too long, he'll grab them and place them back on him.
at first he tries to hide it, but during a particular morning quickie trying to beat time for your first class, your hands are placed on your own calves. you need it for balance as you glide up and down at the fastest pace you can, knowing you have maybe five minutes before you have to leave. you'd barely touched him, just trying to get him off when you hear it for the first time. xavier lets out the most pathetic little whimper before whining out your name and begging for you to touch him. It's enough of a shock to get you to freeze on his cock. his face is red, not from your activities but embarrassment.
"did you just... whimper?"
"maybe... baby, please just touch me we can talk about this later."
"let me hear it again."
much to xavier's initial dismay, you don't let this go. you begin taking your teasing to another level, messing with him until he's begging for you. his whimpers become something you refuse to go without when having sex. but this is only the start of it.
"what do you think about trying something new? like... i don't know... being tied up?" you ask one morning as xavier sips on a water bottle across from you. he chokes, spitting the water onto the blanket in between the both of you. "you want me to tie you up when we fuck?" xavier asks, not expecting that from you. you snort, shaking your head. "no, xavi. i want to tie you up."
the following night xaviers hands are tied to his headboard as you leave hickies across his chest. "baby, please, i need you," he pants, tugging on his restraints. you smile into his chest, taking your hand and dipping it between the two of you, slowly and softly dragging your nails up his length covered in his boxers. a strangled whine leaves your boyfriends throat as his hips buck up to you. "fuck, please," he whimpers, looking at you with pleading eyes. "mm, i don't know. have you been a good boy?" you ask, repeating your nails on his cock. xavier's cock jumps at your words, his eyes fluttering shut as he processes. "oh, you liked that, huh?" you tease.
xavier was putty in your hands after that. the more you tried, the more he accepted his subspace and the deeper he fell. he wouldn't admit it, but his reactions proved that he did get off when you would deny him orgasms and tease him until he was in pain. it didn't take long for his mommy kink to make an appearance either. once he uttered that for the first time, he accepted he was at the point of no return.
not only is xavier thorpe a subby little baby, he is for sure a service sub. you're stressed over an assignment? xavier is quick to tell you to lay back, let him make mommy feel better. you don't have the energy? xavier's tongue is making you fall apart in minutes, nearly cumming in his pants from the tired praise you give him.
overall, xavier is happy to let you do whatever you want with him and beg for more. he's tried to be in charge, but he'd much rather be at your mercy and wait for the praise he knows you'll provide eventually.
thanks to @aquasringing for the request <3

No More (Xavier Thorpe)

A/N: idk how I feel ab this, like my writing wasn’t the best

Tumblr media
You don’t know how you ended up here. In this position to be exact. All you wanted to do tonight was to watch the new Scream movie with your best friend.
★・・・・・・★
“Xay! Open up.” Your knocks onto the dorm room door we’re in intervals of 3. It was cold and you’d been out here for a solid 2 minutes waiting for him to open the door. Just as you were about to call it a night and go back to your hall, the door opened revealing your best friend.
God, he was hot. There was no denying that Xavier Thorpe was sculpted by the gods themselves. How could he not be? With his chiseled jaw and toned body. His perfect 6-pack that led into an even better v-line. And his hands. His large, veiny hands. Hands that would fit ever so nicely around your-
“Hey? Eyes up here.” He snapped his fingers, forcing your attention up from his towel wrapped waist to his eyes. The blush that crept across your face couldn’t be helped. Clearing your throat, you pushed him out of the way and walked over to his bed. The door shut and you could’ve sworn you heard the lock click as you grabbed everything out of your bag. His footsteps echoed through the small room and into the bathroom, no doubt putting clothes on.
A small part of you wanted him to stay the way he was. There was no harm in looking at him as long as you didn’t do anything, right? I mean c’mon, who were you to destroy his relationship? Especially if it was with Bianca. Not only was she the queen-bee of Nevermore, but also your friend. Maybe it was for the best that he put clothes on. It helped to suppress all the feelings you had for him. And the thoughts.
After setting out the few snacks and getting the movie loaded, you patiently waited for him to come out of the bathroom. But as per usual, he took his sweet time. God forbid you had to be back in your own dorm by 10. Everything had to revolve on Xavier’s time. With another shiver running down your spine, you decided to take this opportunity to put on some extra clothes. You only had yourself to blame for wearing some pajama shorts and a shirt. Looking around you didn’t want to go through all of his clothes in the closet so instead you settled for the hoodie on his stool.
His scent filled your lungs as you put it over your head. Something along the lines of mint and fresh laundry. A smile plastered your face as you did, the fabric making you feel warm instantly. Xavier was still in the bathroom so you took initiative (Again), to look through some of his artwork. Roaming his sketchbook, you flipped to the back part since you’d been familiar with his previous pieces. Drawings of the lake, quad, and friends were on each page. But the very last one caught your attention. It was of you. Not just of you smiling and laughing. No. The drawing was of you sprawled out on his bed, completely naked. Tears streamed down your face as your hands pushed up. “You ready to start the movie?”
The voice of your friend caught you off guard, making you slam the book on the table. There were no words to say to him. You didn’t know what you could say. So with a nod, you got up and sat on his bed. He did the same, but it was a bit awkward. The twin size bed was barely big enough for Xavier’s 6’2 self so what makes you think the both of you would fit? Apparently he was thinking the same thing. Without warning he grabbed you by the hips and lifted you up, placing you in between his legs. The brief silence was cut short when you began the movie. Even after it started his hands didn’t leave you. Barley 15 minuets into the movie and you could even pay attention. Not with the way his chest was against your back. His hands affectionately rubbing circles into your sides. Especially not with the way his chin rested on your shoulder, his breath grazing your ear.
You were turned on to say the least. It made you feel like shit though. Knowing that it should be Bianca in your place. All you and Xavier are, are best friends! So why was he being so handsy with you? And why weren’t you doing anything about it?
“Is this the hoodie that was on my stool?” Your thoughts were interrupted at the sounds of his voice. Again, you only nodded; Trying your best to focus on the movie and not the way he seemingly pushed himself closer to you. “Is there something wrong? Why aren’t you talking?” His tone became more stern, demanding almost. Shaking your head no, you turned the movie up on the computer. Xavier didn’t like that answer. Hence the way he forcefully gripped your chin to make you face him. Panic arose in you as he did. He was going to ask about the drawing. Ask you what you saw and what you looked at. Then he’d kick you out or something worse. He took notice of your facial expression, his own softening. “Aw, I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m sorry. I just want to hear your pretty voice.” A thumb ran across your cheek as he smiled. It was hard to stay scared at such a beautiful face. Finding yourself melting into his touch and his voice you finally spoke. “I was just cold. But I didn’t want to go through your closet.” He smiled again and leaned closer to you. “So you went through my sketchbook instead?” Face dropping, your eyes winded. Any hopes of him not asking? Vanished.
“No?” Rolling his eyes, he looked from you to the desk. “Don’t lie to me. I saw you go through it. The way you smiled while you flipped through the pages of the lake. How impressed you were with the one of the quad. And the way your legs closed, mouth parting when you got to the last page. You know, the one of you on my bed? Where you’re crying oh so prettily for me?” Flabbergasted didn’t even begin to describe how you felt. Babbles of you denying it and trying to make an excuse didn’t phase him. He knew that you saw. And based on the way you were avoiding eye contact, your cheeks getting flushed now, proved that to him. After a few more seconds he got tired of your excuses and decided to shut you up with a kiss.
A harsh one. His lips met yours, hungrily biting at them. It took you by surprise, making you gasp. This gave him an opening to shove his tongue into your mouth. As he attempted to explore, you shook your head, trying to stop him. Of course it didn’t work. I mean, seriously. Where’d you get the idea you could ever overpower him? With your weak self, smaller than him. Hands gripped your hips harshly, making you yelp. Finally he removed his mouth from yours, reaching over to move the laptop off the bed. In one swift motion he had you flipped onto your back, his large body hovering over yours. The fear in your eyes, trying to hide the desperation made him feral. Xavier pulled off your shorts, then his hoodie along with your shirt, leaving you only in your panties. He ogled your chest with his eyes before leaning down and sucking harshly on your boobs. His left hand gripped your waist tightly to sure you wouldn’t get up while the other groped your right boob. Eventually he switched, not carrying about your kicking or thrashing of your arms. When he finished your nipples were swollen and perky.
Eyes meeting, he felt his boner grow at the sight. It was just like his drawing. Your red and teary eyed orbs sulking at him. Hands pushed onto his chest trying so desperately to get him off of you. He wouldn’t stop for your tears. If anything he wanted to provoke more out of you. Tearing his shirt off he watched your crying stop briefly. Very briefly to look down his front. He knew that was your favorite part of him. His abdomen in specifics. Your crying resumed when he took off his sweats and boxers as well. Sure, you had thought about this many many times. But you didn’t want it to happen this way! Not when he was with Bianca, and not against your will! Yet the prodding thought in the back of your mind made you think otherwise. Still holding both of your wrist in one hand, he dipped down in between your legs. Screaming ‘No’s’ and ‘Stops’, as he pushed your panties to the side only made him more excited.
He licked his lips, eyeing your glistening pussy. Your own wetness already coating your outside. “You’re already so wet for me, love. Don’t tell me this is…turning you on?” Shaking your head, you tried so hard to protest but the second one of his fingers entered you? It was all over. His long and slender digit curling inside you made you buckle your hips into him, the faintest moan leaving your lips. Xavier of course took notice of this and looked back up at you with a shit eating grin. “You like that?” No response. He did get one when he pulled his finger out only to put a total of 3 in you. A loud moan escaped you, making him chuckle. The way he circled and explored you with only his fingers made you feel crazy. Even crazier when he picked up the pace.. “It’s ok. Make as much noise as you want. I know you’re enjoying it.”
“But w-what about Bianca?” Those 4 words made him stop entirely; Pulling his fingers out of you all together with a wet ‘Pop’. Your panties were taken off you all together as you watched him move up you again. His nose scrunched as he aligned himself with your entrance. You really shouldn’t have looked down. A gasp left you as you eyed his cock. It was a good 8 inches, maybe more. Decent in girth but extremely long. There was no warning, no words, nothing, before Xavier shoved himself into you fully. A cry of bloody murder left you as he did. He decided to shut you up with another kiss. This time it was less forceful and even passionate? There was no time for you to adjust before he bottomed out inside. Hands clawing at his chest he did nothing. Right as he began to thrust into you, you made another mistake of looking down.
You could see the outline of him inside you, his top prodding below your belly button. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t turn you on. Feeling you tighten around him, he looked down to meet your gaze. Eyes widening as well, he moved a hand down to your stomach and pressed on you. The moan you let out was by far his new favorite sound. That was all the confirmation he needed to continue. Head dipping into your neck, he pulled out fully only to shove himself back in.
★・・・・・・★
The chorus of both your moans and skin slapping echoed throughout his dorm room, maybe even the halls. By now you’d cried more tears than you could count but that didn’t stop Xavier from licking them right off your face. The coil in your stomach was bound to snap for the 3rd time soon. It was a bit baffling that Xavier still hadn’t finished. No doubt he was close. Your neck and collarbone were now covered in purple and blue. There was barley enough energy left in you to speak. Again, only whimpers and the occasional moan of his name left you. On the verge of passing out, all your senses came back when there was a knock at the door. Xavier stopped for a brief moment, still inside you. Silence. Then the door handle jiggled.
“Xavi? Why’s your door locked?” A gasp left you at the sound of Bianca’s voice. Hands pushing at his chest again, he grabbed them and pinned both above your head. “No reason! Just b-busy right now.” He replied. You knew it was wrong. Of course it was. But the slightest part of you wanted the door to unlock and her to come in and see. Having no idea what overcame you, your hips pushed down against him in a way to ask for him to keep going. It caught him off guard, making a groan slip out. “Xavier?” Her voice rang out again. He turned back with a smirk before pounding into you again. This time hard enough to make the bed hit the wall. “Have you seen (Y/n)? She isn’t answering her phone.” Moaning as he bit your shoulder again he replied. “No, I haven’t. Maybe check her dorm?” “Are you ok? You sound tired. And what’s that noise?”
“Nothing! Just go! I’m really busy right now.” He snapped. The second he did her footsteps echoed through the hall. Turning back to him, his grip on your hands tightened. “We should s-stop now.” Xavier laughed at your statement. “Now you say that? Not at the beginning?” A halfway deadpan was on your face. Did he not remember you begging for him to stop? (Not like he would’ve anyways). His thrusts became harsher and more erratic. “You’re gripping me so tightly-Even if I wanted to pull out, I couldn’t. But I don’t think you want me to.”
He was right. You didn’t want him to. If he could stay in your like this for forever? You’d let him. But you’d never admit that. “Y’know, every time I fucked Bianca, I imagined you.” He smiled and kissed you again. “I thought about you crying and moaning my name. I thought about you begging for more and cumming around my cock. I wanted it to be you that I came inside.” You felt him twitch inside, your vision beginning to blur. “You like the sound of that?” No thought went through your mind as your legs wrapped around his waist to pull him in closer. Chuckling he moved your hair out of your face. “I think you do. I bet you’d like it if I came inside, filled you up.” More babbling of his name left you. All it took was a meek ‘Please’ from you for him to finish.
He pushed inside you as far as he could, hot cum spurting deep into you. A large groan of your name left his lips, his face full of pleasure. The last thing you saw before everything went black was Xavier fingering his cum back into your weak body.

reader comforting xavier when everyone believes he’s the monster?
This is my first Xavier request, so let’s start soft and short while I get used to the new character
keep sending requests for Xavier
Tumblr media
All arrows pointed at Xavier.
He had been present every time the monster had attacked, making him Wednesday’s number one suspect in her personal investigation. At the Harvesting Festival when Rowan got mauled to death. In the woods by the old meeting house. At the Gates' old house.
Everything aligned — unfortunately.
He kept denying, but Wednesday’s accusation points were just so good that he didn’t know how to defend himself against them. Xavier felt utterly trapped.
You found him hiding in his art shed, sitting in a corner between terrifying paintings and drawings.
Some canevas were covered by a sheet, just in case the monster gets out to attack him again. Xavier knew how to control his power, but the monster had caught him once and he did not wish to re-do the experience. The scratches on his neck were just starting to heal.
Xavier didn’t look up when the door opened. He stayed in his corner, knees pulled to his chest and glassy eyes staring into the void. It pained you to see him like this.
‘’She’s trying to frame me,’’ he said, his voice small and defeated. ‘’And I don’t know how to get myself out of that situation.’’
You wish you knew how to help him, but you couldn’t think of a solution.
You removed your backpack and put it on the floor, then went up to Xavier and sat beside him. The floor was dirty with dried paint splatters and whatever gets under shoes and the chipped wood risked ruining your tights, but you didn't care.
‘’I’ve been giving my all trying to be friends with her, but she does this—’’
‘’Wednesday is in the wrong.’’
Xavier huffed, leaning his head back against the wall. ‘’If I were in her shoes, I would believe it’s me too. I was there every time the monster attacked. She’s not wrong about that.’’
''But you’re not that monster,’’ you pressed.
The corner of his lips twitched. ‘’Thank you for being on my side.’’
Was there even another side to take? Certainly not Wednesday’s.
You leaned against the wall too and Xavier put his head on your shoulder. He was so tired — in all senses. ‘’I know you, Xavier, and you aren’t capable of such cruelty. You have a good heart and that monster— That monster doesn’t. It’s pure evil.’’
‘’I can be evil. I went with Bianca to the Rave’n instead of you.’’
You felt disgust at the mention of the Rave'n, wishing to forget that dance and night entirely. ‘’Don’t remind me.’’
Xavier laughed softly. Honestly, he didn’t want to think of that night either.

Second Place 🥈 (Xavier Thorpe x Fem!Reader)
Summary: Reader is Wednesday’s cousin and has always felt inferior to the raven haired girl.
A/N: So I watched Wednesday….please tell me I’m not the only one that thought Tyler’s voice was low key hot when he was confessing everything to Wednesday at the police station. But, I am team Xavier. So as some of you know I ran into a bit of a writer’s block, and I was reading some angst and then poof, inspiration. So enjoy my imagination that I acted out to figure out what the characters were going to say. Also, just angst. Yeah, angst. But also fluff.
Inspired? Definitely, by someone. Multiple people. Fanfiction writers that have written Wednesday fanfiction.
Masterlist? Yeah, that doesn’t exist yet. I’m working on it. Don’t judge me.
Requested? No. Uh no, I’ve disappeared for a bit so everyone forgot abt me HAHAHAHA (I have issues okay? I’m sorry T^T)
WARNINGS- I forgot warnings….uhhh: insecure reader, angst to fluff
Tumblr media
(Side note: Xavier is a hufflepuff or slytherin, and the gif is not mine)
~*~*~*~*~
Rain patted down your windows as you listened to Fester and Wednesday talk. Fester was your dad, and though you did not mind his absence most days, you couldn’t deny that you were hurt. Why would your father visit his niece, yet not spare a minute to check in on you.
However, you were not surprised. Growing up, you noticed how Fester was more affectionate towards Wednesday compared to you. When he came back from trips he always greeted you with a pat on your head and a smile. Wednesday, on the other hand, was hugged and they joked and laughed together. They had this unspeakable bond. It made you jealous, but you didn’t require a father, and you wouldn’t in the future.
A soft knock on your door snapped you out of your thoughts. Your attention snapped to open threshold. Xavier, your childhood best friend, was leaning against the door frame.
“Hi,” he smiled. You grinned back at the tall brunette. Xavier had first met you during his godmother’s funeral. While Wednesday felt like it would be amusing for Xavier to scream until the adults found him, you had immediately sprinted for the red button that kept him from being burnt alive.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in the Nightshade library?” You asked. From what you knew, Xavier intended on doing some research in the secret library about the monster.
“I am,” He confessed, “But I wanted you to help me.” You pretended to think, but you couldn’t say no to his soft, pleading, green eyes. He hummed with delight as you rose from your bed and set down the book that you had had no luck reading.
~*~*~*~*~
“Uncle Fester?” Wednesday called out as she entered the Nightshade’s library.
“Who’s Uncle Fester?” Xavier asked as he seemed to materialise from the shadows. “My father,” You replied as you scanned through the last page of the book you held before putting it back in it’s rightful place.
You watched as Wednesday and Xavier insulted each other, it reminded you of squabbling rats. You rolled your eyes when Wednesday said that he liked her. Then you paused. No, it wasn’t possible. Xavier could not like Wednesday after she kept pushing him away.
“Wow!” Fester commented. You whipped your head around to him as he came out of absolutely no where.
“How long have you been lurking?” You demanded. “Long enough to feel the tension between Wednesday and Xavier! Seriously, you could cut it with an executioner’s axe,” He smirked. Wednesday’s eyes widened. You winced at the blatant reminder that your childhood best friend clearly liked Wednesday more then you, like everyone else.
The patter of fingers distracted you. Thing showed up from behind a pillar and Fester seemed so happy to see him…until thing started to throttle him over an old mission. You rolled your eyes. This was not new to you, Thing complained to you all the time about Fester, especially after they returned from a mission together.
“Stop,” Wednesday snapped. You froze as well at her intimidating tone. Wednesday was always the scary one. You giggled as Fester turned around, Thing still held on to the side of his mouth as they both looked at Wednesday innocently. Wednesday rolled her eyes this time.
Soon after, Fester approached the picture of Iggy Itt, one of the ancestors of the Nightshades, a distant relatives of you and Wednesday, as you recalled. Behind the portrait was a safe. You were astounded as you never noticed the safe when you were poking around the old portrait.
“Can you crack this one quickly, or do I have time for a nap?” Fester remarked. Thing stretched his fingers as he begun to fiddle around with the number combinations. After a minute or two, Fester let out an exaggerated yawn before saying, “you know, this is starting to become a replay of Kalamazoo.” Just as he finished his sentenced, the safe opened with a creek and Thing turned to give a little bow.
The safe only held a diary, Nathaniel Faulkner’s old diary. You had overheard Fester and Wednesday speak about it when he was in her room. Wednesday flipped through the pages before pointing to a well sketched drawing of the monster.
Scanning the pages you absorbed the information like a sponge. The monster roaming around the school grounds was called a Hyde. The Hyde required a master in order to be unlocked or a traumatic event. You have to manipulate the Hyde into doing your bidding by using hypnosis or by other means.
“This means…” You muttered as you pointed at the sketch of the master and the bowing Hyde. “It means we’re not looking for one killer, but two,” “The Hyde and it’s master,” You agreed with your cousin. “Whoever that wants to unlock a Hyde is a next level psycho,” Fester murmured. And he was right.
~*~*~*~*~
You left the Nightshade library soon after with Fester, the both of you knew that it was best to leave Wednesday alone when she wanted to think.
“Look, YN” Fester started, “I know about what happened,” You paused. Turning back to face the tall man, you feigned ignorance. “I don’t know what your talking about,” “You know exactly what I’m talking about,” You had never seen Fester lose his cool. He always seemed to be happy and optimistic. But now, he seemed irritated.
“I’m sorry that I was absent during your childhood. Most of all because I left you  with your horrible mother. I was angry at you when you told her off during the family reunion but when Gomez drove her away, I dug into what happened when I was absent,” He explained. He begun to pull out your medical records. All of it was your personal medical reports from when-
“I found this at the hospital nearest our home. Your mother kept everything under wraps because she didn’t want anyone to find out what she was doing to you. Gomez seemed to crack the case first, which was why your mother left when you were thirteen,” You remembered that day.
You had awoken to an empty house, had run all the way to Uncle Gomez’s Family estate with tears in your eyes as you begged him to find your mother. He had refuse and told you that it was for the best that your mother left.
From what you could remember, your mother was abusive from a very young age. It only began to become physical when you were nine or ten. You were often brought to the hospital because of how hard she beat you and sometimes, she grabbed the closest thing to hit you with. It varied from flame pokers to golf clubs to even a vacuum stick at one point.
Why she hit you? Well, you were the spitting image of your father and his absence made her irritable. She used you as a form of punching bag. If she wasn’t hitting you, she used her words and it hurt like blades and daggers being stabbed into your back. She most often compared you to your cousin, Wednesday. From grades to fighting skills, she critiqued and compared the both of you. You were either the best, or a failure. Your cousins perfect grades didn’t help, nor did her shaky record and habit of getting the two of you into trouble.
You began to harbour resentment against the girl. The raven haired cousin who always had the perfect the grades, the perfect family, the perfect attitude. The one who gave zero effs about what other people thought of her, the one that had Xavier pinning for her because he strongly believed that she was the one who helped him out of that casket. The one who didn’t have to dress up to be pretty, who didn’t need to try hard to get people to like her because she didn’t care.
You wanted that. You wanted a mother who didn’t criticise every little thing you did. You wanted a mother who would be by your side. You wanted a mother who didn’t care about what you wear, who only cared that you were happy. You wanted to grow up thinking that only your opinion mattered. You wanted to be first place for once. You wanted, more then anything, to be the best, to not seem so insignificant compared to your cousin.
You stared into the guilty looking eyed of the man you used to call your father before he left you, time and time again, with that horrible excuse of a mother.
“I don’t need your apologies. I’ve forgiven you a long time ago,” You deadpanned as you began to walk away. And as you did so, you could have sworn that you heard Fester say, “Then why do you not call me your father anymore?”
~*~*~*~*~
“Why so down?” Xavier asked as he dashed paint again on the canvas. You hummed as you looked down at your empty sheet again. You were usually good at biology but Fester’s words kept bothering you. It felt like you were spiralling and the nightmares. The nightmares sucked. It kept feeling like you were back in that house, that you were still scared to wake up to your mother’s yelling.
You flipped through your textbook for something to help you write your essay. Defeated, you closed the text book and stuffed the empty paper in your bag with your books. “Hey,” Xavier stopped to look at you, “You know you can talk to me, right?” You nodded, but your next train of thought was:
‘Well not really because I can’t exactly tell you about how I’m starting to spiral because I’m slowly starting to believe I’m no good compared to my cousin, who you also so happened to probably like because you are so damned interested in her. You look at her like she’s the only person in the world and I wished that you out of all people would like me for me, and not because I’ve done anything for you, or helped you, or have because I have anything to offer, but i know that’s not possible because compare too Wednesday I might as well be insignificant.’
“I’m going back to my dorm, if I’m not there then I’ll be at the library,” You said as you got up to leave. “Uh-uh, sit down,” Xavier commanded, pointing to the chair that you just got up from. He pulled a stool from the corner and sat opposite you. “What’s going on?” He asked, trying his best to look you in the eyes. You looked away, silently begging him to let this all go and to continue with his painting of…
“Is that Wednesday!?” You blurted out as you spied the unfinished painting. Xavier flushed as he stuttered, “I just, well, no- I just-” You stood up quickly and left without another word. Tears flooded your eyes. It’s not like you didn’t know that he obviously liked your cousin, it just hurt to see the confirmation. Xavier mostly painted things that either haunted him, or made him passionate. The monster was something that haunted him, and before he dated Bianca he painted her too.
Yet, even as his best friend, you have never seen him paint a single portrait of you, let alone sketch you as practice.
It felt childish, but you stormed to the library, ready to let out some steam. The library was notorious for it’s good acoustics…and the number of student who made out here. You pulled out your violin, the smaller instrument from the string instrument as compared to cello. “And apparently the ‘easier’ instrument” You murmured bitterly. You had first started violin because you found the instrument fascinating. Your mother had been extremely supportive, until Wednesday picked up the cello a few weeks later. In her words, the violin was pathetic and unimpressive compared to the low octave and precision of the cello. It wasn’t even that impressive! By far, the violin probably was the most solo pieces in history and the most impressive composers known for composing the most difficult pieces were either Rachmaninoff or Paganini! One of which played the violin and was literally nicknamed the ‘devil violinist’.
You sighed again as you tuned the violin according to memory. It’s not like you had a piano near-by. You breathed in as you began your favourite Sarasate symphony (A/N: I hate making author’s notes mid-fic but if you want to know which symphony I’m talking about it’s Sarasate Malagueña Op 21 No 1. I know it’s not technically a symphony but I didn’t know how to dumb it down. Also, I do actually play the violin so this was so fun to write but I also had to hold back from spewing more really random facts)
When you finally finished playing it over and over again four times, you heard clapping from behind you. You turned around to see Ms Thornhill.
“Well, most students usually make out here and I was so surprised to hear Sarasate! Big fan of classical music?” She smiled warmly. You gave a polite smile back as you nodded, “Sorry if I disturbed you but I just love the smell of book and I love playing,” She laughed, “I much rather catch a beautiful piece then two students making out,” You flushed. “I wouldn’t call it beautiful-” “No way! You are gifted YN, maybe even more then your cousin in terms of music,” Her sentence made you flush again. Many people seemed to always think that cello was a lot harder then violin because of it’s sheer size, they always focuse on praising Wednesday’s gifts, being shocked on how she was able to write three novels while mastering an instrument.
You thanked Ms Thornhill for her compliments before picking up your violin case, you decided to bring it back to your dorm today instead of leaving it in the library.
~*~*~*~*~
“is that a violin?” Yoko asked as she looked poked at the case. “Yes,” You replied as you jotted down the last sentence of your biology essay. “How have I not known this last few months?” “Cause you didn’t need to know,” I said.
She huffed as she exited the room. Probably to go hang out with her friends or go on a date. You opened your music score sheets as you wrote down notes at areas you constantly made mistakes.
A soft knock caught your attention. The flash of green eyes and the familiar soft smile made your heart flutter.
“Busy?” He asked, motioning to the scores on your desk. You shook your head. “It’s not like I’m gonna figure out a good fingering any time soon, it’s been driving me crazy,” “That’s what she said,” He joked as he came close, observing the score and the numbers already written. “You know that’s not what I meant,” You hit him lightly. “You should change the C to an A1 so that you’d be on second position, shifting would be easier,” You were almost going to laugh. Surely, you probably already tried that, but as you rewrote the numbers, you were shocked.
“How did you-” “I started reading into music theory, specifically string instruments after…” You stopped listening. Of course, of course he read into music theory after he found out Wednesday played the cello. You turned to him as you spied flowers being held behind his back.
“Are those for Wednesday?” You asked as you pointed to the bouquet of beautiful purple mallows. “You probably should have gotten Black dahillas, that’s her favourite colour and flower. I’m actually surprised you didn’t at least get a black flower, but purple mallows are my favourite, I keep spare Dahillas for special occasions for Wednesday so I can give you one to put in the bouquet-” “The flowers are for you,” Xavier interrupted.
You raised you eyebrows. “I don’t understand,” You began but you were quickly interrupted as Xavier suddenly pressed his lips to yours. You froze for a second. He pulled away as he kneeled before you, holding your waist after setting down the flowers on your desk.
“I know that you think you’re second place to your cousin in every way. But, not to me. I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. You might think that you’re not beautiful, but you only see yourself in mirrors or photos. You don’t see yourself when your excited for lunch, or when you watch the newest marvel movie trailers, or even when you finally master a new piece on the violin. I overheard you and your father talk and I know that your mother didn’t see you for you, but I love you. Not for the achievements you have or the grades you get. I love your excitement, your sensitivity, your empathy towards others. I love how you’ve struggled and you still find a way to love the world,” Tears filled your eyes as you looked his sincere ones. His genuine words made you choke on sobs as you hugged him tightly.
“I love you, YN Addams, I have loved ever since you befriended me. I love you for your crazy ambition, your murderous plans when someone pisses you off-” “You can’t lie and say that making someone choke on their own blood isn’t a cool way to kill them,” You mumbled against the crook of his neck.
“It’s my turn to talk, Addams,” “Is that so?” You giggled. “I love you, little psycho,” You laughed again as he kissed your hair. “You stole that from one of my books,” “I’m not wrong, though,” He mumbled.
You spent the rest of the day in your dorm, unaware of what was coming, but you couldn’t care less. You spent your life thinking you were second place. Now, you were finally, someone’s number one.
A/N: This made me cry. But it was also happy tears. I love the reader so much. Also, to the anon that made the Draco request, I’m working on it. But as I always say, procrastination is key :D (this is also a cry of desperation for more requests)

do i wanna know? — tyler galpin
Tumblr media
part 1 part 2
pairing: tyler galpin x reader x xavier thorpe
summary: after tyler defended you in front of your ex-boyfriend, you helped him get rid of the anger, that was still running through his veins, in your special ways.
warnings: SMUT (18+, minors dni!), briefly violence (towards another character), car sex, angry sex, unprotected sex, quickie, switch!tyler galpin, switch!reader.
the sheriff kicked all three of you, —you, tyler and xavier—, out of the cafe to scold you. you were somewhere behind it, xavier sitting down on the couch, holding his head back to try to stop the bleeding, while you were sitting with your arms crossed over your chest, somewhere on the left side, away from him, but close to tyler.
"i can't believe you, tyler! you've stooped so low as to pick a fight with someone over a girl!" said his father, clearly very disappointed that all the customers had to witness such a thing. he didn't know how he was going to get back inside and meet the people there.
tyler rolled his eyes, while xavier had a satisfied grin on his face, pleased that even the sheriff was against his own son. "he humiliated her in front of everyone!" tyler continued to be on your side, losing his temper as he straightened his back against the wall he was leaning to, with his arms crossed over his chest.
despite everything, the fact that the galpin boy didn't back down even when he was scolded by his father and continued to be on your side, to take your defense made you feel an emptiness in your stomach. no one had done this before, not even xavier.
it was nice to have someone willing to fight for you.
xavier let a weak laugh roll across his lips and in a split second, tyler rushed to appear in front of him, grabbing him by the collar and slamming his head back so hard he slammed into the hard wall of the cafe, causing you to take a step back and look in shock, hand to your mouth.
"do you want me to help you get your blood flowing even harder and you don't know how to ask me?" he said to xavier, his jaw clenched.
his words made you feel more attracted to him.
but it didn't last long because the sheriff stepped in, pulling tyler, by the shirt, away from xavier, "that's enough!" he yelled and pushed his son behind him so as not to have access to the nevermore student in front of him, who was still holding his nose and was whimpering weakly.
"go home! and take y/n with you," the sheriff added, running his hand over his chin in frustration. "i'll stay here, trying to convince thorpe not to sue the hell out of you for all of this."
"i don't think so," muttered xavier, continuing to add fuel to the fire.
if the sheriff wasn't there, xavier would've been six feet under just because of the look tyler gave him at that moment.
he turned his back and he motioned for you to disappear as he yelled at his son, "what the hell are you waiting for, son?"
forced by the situation, tyler tore his apron off him and threw it on the floor, barely accepting that he needs to move. but he did. with you very close behind him.
but he didn't say a word, nor did he wait for you, until you two reached his car, which was parked also behind the cafe.
he got in first, slammed the door behind him and when he heard that you got in the passenger seat and also closed the door he took off, barely giving you any time to put on your seat belt.
"what's wrong with you, tyler?" you yelled at him as he continued to press the accelerator. "you act like it's all my fault!" you added, seeing that he was ignoring you, and you couldn't deny that even though it scared you to see how fast he was driving, it also turned you on to see how his fingertips clenched around the steering wheel.
upon hearing your last words, he exhaled the air he was holding in his lungs and took his foot off the accelerator, letting the car return to a normal speed, while his breathing was calming down in a slow rhythm.
“no way it's your fault,” he whispered, not looking at you, and you might not have heard him if you weren't already paying attention to him.
"so what's all this about?" you asked him, feeling yourself starting to get sensitive, gesturing between the two of you.
he ran his tongue over his lower lip, eyes still fixed on the road. "i don't know what you mean," he answered briefly and to the point, even if he was lying.
"you do know!" you said, and took off your belt, so you could turn to him. and when he felt your hand touching over his thigh, his whole body stiffened. "you didn't say a word to me in this whole situation and even though you say it's not my fault, you seem angry with me too." you added and continued to move your hand up and down, to get his attention, as you kept glaring at him. with pleading eyes.
no matter how hard he tried to stay rational, to ignore your touches and the gaze, that he could've feel even though he wasn't even looking in your direction, it seemed like his intimate part was making decisions at that moment, at the expense of his brain.
his jeans were getting tight and his thinking was clouded as his breathing was getting heavier.
“stop it,” he said, trying to take your hand off him, but you resisted, resting your hand over the top of his jeans, trying to take them off slowly.
taking advantage of the fact that he had stopped at a traffic light, being a red light, you turned his head with your free hand towards you and being so close to his lips, and with your hand unzipping his jeans, you said, "let me help you."
"no," he said softly, trying to lie to himself that he didn't want this, but making a faint sound as your hand finally unzipped him.
you moved closer to his ear, and moving your palm over the bulge in his boxers, you said, "i know you want this."
remembering that last time he was way too lost under your touch and not only wanting to get even, but also because he was driven by the anger he had because of your ex, he pushed you off of him, he pulled his pants back up on his hips and zipped them back up, then he started the car when the light turned green. and although his gesture should've hurt you, you clenched over nothing at his action and you pressed your lips together to prevent any sound from coming out as you pretended to look out the window.
after a few minutes, finding a place where he knew no one would pass by, he suddenly stopped the car and at the same time the air stopped in your throat.
"what's going on?” you asked tyler, looking up at him uncertainly and ignoring the uneasiness that had settled inside of you.
"get in the back," was all he said, looking in the rearview mirror.
"what—"
"y/n," he said your name in a tone that made you let him have full control of you, "i said 'get in the back'."
you gulped, the uneasiness leaving your body and giving space to impatience to install. and, biting your bottom lip in anticipation, you made room between the seats to slip into the backseat. you could already feel some moisture making its appearance between your legs.
letting you to wait, tyler exited though the driver's door and waited a few minutes with his hand on the back door opener. moments when you looked at him through the car window with the same pleading eyes from earlier, having the same effect on his jeans.
when he opened the door, you cautiously stepped back, leaning back with your head against the glass of the door opposite him, looking at him as if you were a deer caught by the hunter. you didn't even realize when your dominant part was over and his was just beginning.
he quickly closed the door, and then, with slow movements, he made room for himself by climbing over your body, with his lips close to yours. using the same teasing that you used on him. not just once, but twice.
you wanted so badly to kiss him, to taste his lips again, but when you tried to connect your lips with his, it took all the resistance in him to place a finger over your lips and to stop you, while leaning on you with his other hand, that he rested on your hip.
"please...", you said, although you didn't know what you were begging him to do.
a not-so-subtle smirk appeared on his lips, "what are you asking me to do, exactly?", using the same words against you that you had used when the roles were reversed.
and yet, what he wouldn't have expected was when you ran your tongue over his finger, sucking it. at that moment his dominance was slipping and he barely managed to be able to keep it on, as he withdrew his finger placing his hand over your neck instead, squeezing lightly. what he didn't know was that you were into it, but he found out quickly, when a squeal of pleasure left your lips.
to silence you, he kissed you, quickly, forcefully, as if he longed to do it again for a long time. and the hand on your hip made its way, between you two, under the dress that you wore, quickly finding its place over the material of your panties.
he felt the effect he had on you from the first contact with the material and he hurried to get it off of you, at the same time pulling down his pants and boxers in one movement. and yet, all this time your lips had not parted. besides, each of you were breathing harder, also existing a few moans here and there, from the both of you.
he hurried to line himself up at your entrance, suddenly pushing himself in and swallowing the moan you let out over his lips.
all the anger he felt towards xavier thorpe, your ex boyfriend, —and the fact that xavier had you before him and still he had the nerve to call you names, even though you were no longer his and you could do it with whoever you wanted—, was felt when in the first phase he withdrew a little and in continuation re-entering you as suddenly as the first time, with more force that time.
he continued to hit the place where you needed him the most, while the hand around your neck tightened his fingers around it from time to time, and the other hand made circles over your sensitive spot.
"i'm close—", you said between moans, but he was quick to come back hungrily on your lips, increasing the speed with which his hand moved.
continuing to move his hips into you with the same intensity, feeling you tighten around him, he pulled away from the kiss only to speak, with his forehead against yours, "i know, love, you can let go."
hearing his words, you allowed yourself to forget about everything and feel how you came down from the high place where he had brought you within a few minutes, while you let out unholy sounds, which also sent him, right after you, over the edge.
he got out of you, but he didn't rush to get off of you, letting his head fall into the crook of your neck and inhaling your perfume as you felt yourself full of him.
“i'm starting to think this is becoming some kind of a habit for us,” you said with a weak giggle that made him shiver. "i don't dislike it," then you quickly added to not give him the wrong idea.
he lifted his head to look at you.
"me neither," he said, rushing to kiss you again.

Update: part 2 here!
-
-
Wednesday is finally enrolled at Nevermore after years of trying to convince her. I’ve known her since we were little, we had our own little trio whenever our parents would have dinners. It was always Wednesday, Xavier, and I, and occasionally Pugsley.
Our parents all met at Nevermore, all of them part of the Nightshades. Of course, we had to follow in their footsteps.
The news spread fast around campus, talking about what she did at her other schools. I saw her with Enid while having a tour of the school.
“Wednesday!” I hollered from the door I was leaning against.
She quickly turned around and with a confused and pale face, her eyes widened.
I walked up to her with open arms, I knew she wouldn’t give into the hug but it was worth a try.
“Y/n.” she sent a quickly smirk as we nodded to each other.
“You two know each other?” Enid cocked her head.
“Since diapers.” Wednesday spoke with her monotone voice as the three of us walked around the courtyard.
“Yeah Wednesday, Xavier, and I.” I muttered out.
“Wait. You mean to tell me that you and Xavier used to be friends?” Enid threw her hands in the air as she spoke loud.
“Enid, shut up.” I was quick to cover her mouth with my hand. I looked around the courtyard to see if anyone heard, and of course Xavier was looking right as us.
“You aren’t friends with Xavier anymore?” Wednesday asked.
“They’re always argu-”3
“Enid. I don't want to talk about it. It was nice seeing you Wednesday.” I sent her and Enid a small smile before walking away.
-
It’s been a few days since Wednesday arrived, she’s always getting in trouble. Though, last night she decided to do her own little tour of the school.
“What did you tell Wednesday?” Xavier stopped me while I was on my way to my dorm.
“That she can sneak into the kitchen pantry and steal snacks?” I questioned, trying to swerve away from him to get to my room.
He followed behind me heading up to the girls corridors.
“What? No. You told her about what happened that night.” his big eyes showed that he wasn’t messing around.
“I literally didn’t tell her anything, I erased that night from my mind.” I pointed to my temple. “Probably should’ve asked one of the sirens to make me forget.”
I shoved past him and continued walking down the long hallway to my room, his heavy steps close behind mine.
Once I opened my door, I tried to close it as fast as possible but he slid through.
“God can you leave me alone?” I groaned loudly, throwing my book bag onto my bed.
“How does she know about the Nightshade library and what happened that night?” he asked towering over me.
“Xavier, I don’t fucking know how she knows!” I threw my hands in the air in annoyance. “Why do you care about her knowing?”
“Fuck. I don’t care about her knowing, it’s about the elder Nightshades knowing! About our families knowing!” he was close to be now, his neck turning red from his anger.
“You did this to yourself. I told all of you he didn’t seem like himself, you knew since you were his roommate. I told you guys not to kick him out, plus you let them embarrass me. I haven’t even told my family that i’m not a Nightshade anymore.”
“You got yourself kicked out, you thought you could help Rowan with your plants. He almost killed that kid.” he waved his hand around signaling all my plants.
“I saved that normie with my plants, don’t forget that. If it wasn’t for me, we’d all be wanted by the normies. You’re part of the reason he’s dead. And don’t even deny it, you know that wasn’t him after the fair.” that shut him up quick, he knows i’m right.
He shook his head and made his way to my door. “Wednesday declined the offer.”
“Good. We don’t need anymore egotistic skinny dippers here.”
Then he was gone. My heart was racing. I haven’t talked to Xavier in a few months, and I definitely didn’t expect the first time to be an argument.
-
I heard a knock at my window, it possibly could just be the old welding creaking. It’s midnight, who would be outside my window at midnight?
knock knock.
I quickly and quietly wrapped myself in my blanket and nervously walked towards the window. I opened it and looked around to see who was there, nobody.
I was about to close my window until I saw a blur in my peripheral vision. It was Thing, giving some sassy attitude because I couldn't see him.
“What?” I whispered to him, rubbing my tired eyes.
He started signing to me, telling me things with his fingers.
“Slow down. Wednesday? What? She needs me to- stop.” I quietly barked at him.
“Why does she need me to go into the Nightshade library if she has total access?”
He began to sign again, having a slight attitude with the way he moved.
“Fine. But make sure to tell her to stay out of trouble if she’s one strike away from getting expelled, and that she owes me.”
He understood and nodded then made his way out of the window.
I quickly put on my hoodie and grabbed my phone before sneaking out of my dorm. The corridors were dim and quiet as I crept down to the Poe statue.
I stood in front of the old statue and held my hand up. "snap twice." I breathed out.
My thumb and middle finger rubbed against each other quickly, letting out those two snaps. The statue grinding against the concrete floor, opening and revealing the stairs to the secret library.
I walked down the cobwebbed filled stairs, shivering from the cold of the lower level.
I reached the library, walking over to see the picture of my parents hanging up on the wall. The Addams and Thorpe family next to my parents frame.
“What are you doing here?”
My hand shot up and clenched into a fist to conjure a strong vine to grab the owner of the voice. I tightened my fist to make sure the vines were tight and strong.
I turned around and saw my vines holding down the hands of Xavier. I loudly sighed and rolled my eyes knowing that he’s in my way again.
“Let me go.” he struggled against the vines. His white shirt loose on him as his sweatpants were tied.
“Why would you creep up on me?” I jerked my head forward, my hand unclenching to release him.
“Why are you here?” he rubbed at his wrists.
I ignored him and moved towards the large shelf of books. My fingers dragged along the dusty spines of the book, trying to find the book.
“You shouldn’t be here.” he followed behind me with every step I took, so close that I can feel his breath on my hair.
“I can be here if I want to.” I turned to face him but he bumped into my chest from the quick halt. “But don’t worry, I’ll be out of your hair soon.”
I have a sarcastic smile and turned back to looking for the book that Wednesday needed.
“But to answer your question, I’m here for Wednesday.” I crouched down to the books on the lower shelf.
“Why couldn’t she come here herself?” he asked, leaning against the bookshelf as he looked down at me.
“Why are you here?” I looked up at him. Looking up at him from this angle brought thoughts in my mind that I didn’t need.
“Im actually a Nightshade, you on the other hand aren’t.” his arms crossed over his chest.
I quickly stood up to face him, he towered over me. I looked up at him, his nose flaring a tad as we had a stare off while we were merely an inch apart from each other.
He was the first one to look away, rolling his eyes and turning his head. I turned around and started looking for the book again.
“Are you going to help me look or just keep breathing down my back?” I asked him with a playful tone.
He put his arms up in surrender, walking away to the desk where his things were set up. He sat on the chair and continued his sketch.
“Fucking finally!” I sighed out as I grabbed the needed book from the shelf and held it against my chest.
I walked over to Xavier, standing behind him as I watched his fingers smudge the led of the pencil. I couldn’t really tell what he was drawing, it was unfinished and his hand was covering most of it.
“Are you going to leave or just keep breathing down my back?” he continued drawing, not even turning to look at me.
“Hmm I don't know. Maybe I like breathing down your neck, it seems like it gets you annoyed.” I had a small grin on my face. We used to have this type of playful banter before that traumatic night, I sort of miss it.
He scoffed and I just knew he rolled his eyes because he was annoyed of me.
I took another look at his drawing, this time I’m able to see the almost finished product. It looked so familiar, he added so much detail that I felt like I knew what it was.
“What is it?” I pointed to his paper.
He closed his sketchbook harshly and dropping his pencil onto the table. He leaned on his elbows on the table, just sitting there in silence probably thinking of ways to kill me because I was annoying him.
I began to turn on my heel and silently walk towards the stairs that I came down from earlier.
“Why do you think that wasn’t Rowan?” he blurted out. His body in the chair is turned to me as I turned back on my heel to face him.
“Why don’t you believe Wednesday?” I questioned against him.
“I asked a question first.” he tilted his head, motioning for my to tell him my thoughts.
I walked closer to him, setting down the book onto the table as I leaned my hip on the edge. I made sure to keep a distance from him.
“I stopped him on his way to the car and I gave him a bundle of lavender. He said that I always knew it was his favorite. Everyone knows he’s deathly allergic to lavender.” I crossed my arms over my chest with a huff. “Now, why don’t you believe Wednesday?”
Xavier rubbed a hand over his face. “Isn’t it weird that on her first couple of days she was almost killed by Rowan, then witnessed Rowans ‘murder’ and was supposedly saved by the monster?”
I shrugged my shoulders, basically telling him in makes sense.
“It doesn't line up.”
I rolled my eyes at him which I received a scrunched up face from him. “I think you’re in denial of his death. You’re making up excuses. Just admit that I’m right.”
He scoffed louder this time, his fingers combing back his hair. The veins in his arm were prominent and his hands were always so nice and pampered.
He went to stand up and slowly reached to grab his sketch book, but I was quick enough to get ahold of it before him.
“Give it.” his voice had a hint of playfulness behind it, but his face didn't show any sign of a smile or smirk.
“C’mon, just admit it.. and apologize to me.” I conjured a vine to hold his book against the wall with thick trailings of the plant tight around it.
“Are you serious? It’s late” he rubbed at his eyes as he held out his hand waiting for me to give him his book back.
“You just have to do two things, it’s not hard.” I had a small cocky smile on my face.
“Fine.” he rolled his eyes.
I was nice enough to loosen my vines from his book that was up against the wall. My vines bringing his book to my hands.
I cocked my eyebrow telling him to carry on and say what is needed to be said.
“Rowan is dead, and that wasn’t the real Rowan.” one of his hands stayed in a fist at his side, while the other still was holding out waiting for his book to be laid flat on his palm.
I hummed as I began to flip through his sketches.
“Dude!” he jumped out to me but I was quick to pull back, still looking through the hundreds of sketches.
“Wow, you’re really into this whole monster thing huh?” I had a sarcastic shocked face.
I moved my body over to the desk where he sat earlier, leaning my thighs against it. My eyes scanned through the pages, looking at how intricate the detailing was.
“Stop.” I jumped at me again, my body leaning back onto the table as his chest was close to mine. I clicked my tongue at his failed attempt. “Just give it.” he breathed out as he was still an inch away.
My eyes drifted to his eyes. Fuck. Those green eyes tortured me, and those lips. I really shouldn’t be feeling this type of way.
“I’ll give it if you answer a question.” I sent him a smirk.
One side of his lips tilted up, but he tried to hide it by dragging hand down his face.
“Fine.” he huffed out.
“Have you ever drawn me?” I tilted my head to the side as I watched him think through his answer.
I can tell by the way his mouth opens and closes that he doesn't know if he should say. I already know the answer.
“Tick tock.” I bopped my head side to side.
“Yes.” he muttered out.
A smile formed on my face as his cheeks began to blush.
“Sorry, I couldn’t hear you. Can you say that again?”
“Yes! Fuck, I’ve drawn you.” his hands frustratingly combed his hair back.
I flipped through his sketch book to find the page of a drawing of me. My eyes were drawn to be seductive, dark, and my lips more plump. On the other page is a drawing of me laying in bed but a chain dangling over my face.
I looked up from the page to see the same dangling chain. I look further up and see Xaviers face red from embarrassment.
“Look, you weren’t-” I nodded and closed the book, pushing it against his stomach telling him to grab it.
His hand grabbed it the book but I didn't let go of the book, I pulled on the book and brought him close to me again. My brought my lips to his, dropping the book onto the table.
He pulled back from the kiss. “I thought you were weirded out.” He looked at me with wide confused eyes.
I dragged my hands up to the nape of his neck, my fingers lightly scratching his scalp.
“I like weird things.” I shrugged my shoulders and pulled him back down into a kiss.
His hands moved to my hips, pulling him into me and his fingers squeezing tightly. My hands gripping his hair as we breathed heavy and our tongues clashing.
Both of us moaning into each others mouth as he pulled himself between my legs, the many layers of clothing between us.
We suddenly heard the heavy scratch of the statue moving and footsteps tapping against the stone. Xavier and I quickly separated from each other and stood apart as we waited to see who it was.
I quickly fixed my hair and clothes, and he did the same.
“Well hello Mister Thorpe and Miss l/n.”
“Miss Weems.” we said in sync as we nodded to her.
“It is pretty late, so I suggest that the two of you get some rest.” the tall blonde stood with her arms ushering to the entrance as she stood in a silk grey robe and matching pajama pants.
“Will do Miss.” I sent her a smile as I grabbed the book that Wednesday needed as Xavier grabbed his sketchbook and pencils.
The two of us walked up the stairs with Weems following closely behind.
“Goodnight you two.” Weems said quietly once we reached the hallway, she then made her way down the opposite way of our corridors.
“I still hate you.” I muttered to Xavier then turned my heel to the girls corridors.

xavier thorpe x selkie!reader
summary: when your pelt was stolen from you as a joke during carnival night, xavier comes just in time to rescue you.
a/n: xavier warriors, I hear your call, I respond. anyways this is pretty much stupid and insane bcs I absolutely love selkies (they are basically seals that can turn into humans using their pelt) you can google if ur confused.
°°°
There was nothing funny about this. You place your pelt by your side and the next thing you knew, it wasn't there.
A pelt is something very personal to a selkie, and everyone knew that, this went beyond a mere prank.
Now here you were transforming into a fucking seal in the woods alone because, of course there's no body of water near you to dive in.
This is fucking stupid, I have leaves stuck on me, I'm going to throw up, you gagged, which came out as a loud squeaking yelp.
Your angry internal seal monologue was interrupted as you hear loud footsteps running towards the woods.
You stay behind the tree as Rowan enters with Wednesday Addams following him.
It was bizarre what was going on, one moment she was trying to speak to him, and the next, he had her pinned on the tree.
You squeaked in fear, causing him to drop her, suprised. Their eyes glance at you behind the tree for a second before a largely built monster lunges at Rowan and devoured him.
Wednesday's movements only froze for seconds before she sped her way out, leaving you squeaking for help.
The monster's gigantic disgusting eyes stared right into your little sea-lion soul.
Hopping out of the woods was inefficient but also your only choice, so you hopped like a giant bunny as the monster attacks you from behind, grabbing you in one hand and ready to squish you into pieces as your eyes widen and you squeal for your life.
Your panic was halted as a small arrow shoots through his head, it wasn't strong enough to kill him, but enough for him to drop you.
"Stay away from her!" A voice you know too well, shouted from your right.
A wolf lunges at the monster, pushing him back, before a few more of them joins in the bloodbath.
You yelped as you feel hands pull you up to their chest, Xavier grips you to him as he runs out towards the fair, where Wednesday and Enid stands alongside Weems who was already phoning the police. Too much of this evidence can't be removed nor be denied.
She rushes Xavier to go back to the school and he obeys immediately with the other students.
You see him with your pelt slung on his shoulder before he rushes you two back.
The car ride was worse than almost being killed. The way he kept glancing at you, biting his lip from laughing, and immediately failing when you squeaked at him angrily.
"Im- sorry, it's just, I- I mean look at you -"
You squeaked again and slap his hand that tried to squish your slimy face.
Your boyfriend has a way of making you melt and also wanting to shove his face in a bucket of acid.
But god you'd miss that face if it was ever ruined.
He insisted on you transforming when you've reached your dorm so he can carry you up and indulge watching you in your seal form whole repeating terrible seal pickup lines and receiving slaps on his face that he takes too easily for your liking.
When you finally get the opportunity to be back in your human skin and clean yourself from the dirt, you feel relief washing over you, despite your boyfriend's attempt to make you laugh, you were still in a state of shock.
Xavier's own fear was not subtle either, as much as he tries to hide it, and his insistence on sleeping in your dorm that night was only another confirmation.
You swore you'd see nightmares of the monster in your sleep that night, but wrapped in his arms and feeling him press a kiss on your forehead, you woke up the next day with nothing but him on your mind.

pairings: Xavier thorpe x Fem!reader summary: hating each other doesn't really work out when there's different feelings hiding beneath it. warning: swearing, them being assholes to each other. note: reader is Wednesday's cousin. again. pretty long. I told myself this would be the last part but I got carried away. sooooo part 4 tomorrow so comment if you would like to be tagged in that
part 1 part 2 part 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xavier's POV
"Y/n!" I knocked on her window "can we talk"
the lights were off but there was noise coming from inside
"you can't ignore me forever" I sighed.
the window was slightly open so I took my chance and pushed it open more. climbing into her room.
I looked around and walked to her desk. looking at the statue of a frog playing an instrument. It was an odd concept but it seemed like something she would like, I picked it up and examined it closer until I heard footsteps coming to the door, I quickly put the frog down and made my way out the window again.
---
"you snuck into my room" you said walking up to Xavier
"what?" he questioned, Looking at you confused
"you broke into my room last night" you stated
"no I didn't" he denied quickly
"there's no point in lying, Xavier. there's proof. you're an amateur in that department"
"what proof do you have then?" he asked, getting annoyed
you pulled out a little zip-lock bag with a single hair in it
"is that a strand of hair?" Xavier spoke surprised and shocked
"a strand of your hair, yes" you nodded
"that could be anyone's hair" he defended himself
"It could've been, that's why Wednesday got it tested" you insited
"what the hell do you mean you got it tested?" he replied
"i think you know what it means" you huffed
"you're insane"
"I got to my room last night only for my room to smell like you, I find my frog in the wrong place and a single hair my floor. not to mention my window was an inch more open than when I left it. and when I looked out of it, I find that you're not at you painting on the wall, but your supplies are" you investigated "care to explain why?"
"again, you're insane" he scoffed
"no, I'm just observant" you spoke dully
"right, ok" he rolled his eye
"why were you in my room?" you demanded an answer
"I wanted to talk to you" he shrugged
"what is so important to tell me that you had to break into my room?" you huffed, crossing you arms
"wel- how do you know what I smell like?" he trailed off
"what?" you furrowed your eyebrows
"you said you got to your room and noticed it smelt like me. how do you know what I smell like?" he smirked
"because it smelt shit just like you"
"are you sure about that?" he chuckled
"I'm certain" you said before you turned away.
as you walked off, you and Xavier both took a deep breath and gulped.
---
During Outreach day, you snuck away from your group to go to the cafe
"what do you want?" Xavier asked
"A coffee, that's what everyone comes in here for" you told him simply
"what type of coffee?" he sighed
"one without your spit in it" you shrugged
"why would I spit in your coffee?" he shook his head in disappointment
"I don't know, the look on your face said it"
"what coffee would you like?" he questioned
"maybe a frappe" you said, looking at the menu at the top
"maybe? it's a yes or a no" he huffed, getting impatient
you smiled sarcastically "first of all, you're not getting a tip anymore. and yes, I'll have a coffee frappe"
"7.50"
you gave him the money and walked to your table. looking out the window to the street
you pulled out your phone and scrolled through pages, seeing Enid's page was updated with the latest 'gossip'
it was a photo of two people taken from a distance, you couldn't recognise the people in the photo so you read the description
'these two seem to talk a bit too much for them to be just enemies' it read
it was only posted a minute ago, with only one like and a single comment
as you looked at the comments under it you saw a comment from Xavier
'Enid take this down right now'
it was until then that you noticed it was you and Xavier in the photo
"here's your Coffee frappe without spit" Xavier put down the drink
"thanks" you mumbled
you messaged Enid, telling her to take the post down as soon as possible, not even a second later she gave in and said she would take it down. you thanked her and put your phone away, taking a sip of your drink.
----
"what the hell are you doing?" Xaviers voice called out from the rain. you looked up at him to see him with an umbrella
"why are you here?" you glared at him
"Wednesday told me you planned on going around here." he explained
"that doesn't answer my question" you blinked blankly
"just get under the umbrella" he moved closer to you, trying to get you under the purple umbrella with him
"I don't need protection from the rain" you stated
"I don't want you to get sick" he pleaded
"since when do you care if I get sick or not?" you investigated
"fine" he grumbled
"what's wrong with you?" you rebuked
"nothing?"
"stop. you've been acting weird lately and I don't like it" you spat
"what do you want from me?" he quizzed
"to act like you did before, like you hate and not care about me" you declared
"I do hate you" he nodded his head
"that's not what logic says" you pointed out
"what logic?" he retorted
"you have a drawing of me in your notebook, you're always around me now and you kissed me the other day" you announced "any logical person would say that you have feelings for me, but I refuse to be under your trap"
"trap? what trap!?" he said loudly
"the one where you think you can trap me into thinking I don't hate you" you explained
"you're insane! you know that? I'm basically serving my feelings to you on a silver platter here and you say I'm trapping you?" he yelled at you
"yes, that is what I said" you nodded
"what is wrong with you?!" he screamed as the rain got heavier
you stayed silent, you didn't want to answer him anymore so you just stared at him blankly.
"I could ask the same question" you mumbled, walking past him
----
It was quiet in the quad as you stared at the boy from afar.
he was oblivious to you behind him as he painted the wall
"I hate you" you must of scared him for a second time and made him mess up for the second time
"oh yeah? care to share why that is?" he huffed, mad at you
"you are an asshole"
"yeah? you're not the nicest person either" he rolled his eyes
"I have done nothing to you!" you yelled at him
"is that really what you believe in your twisted little mind?" he growled. putting his paintbrush down and backing you up into a pillar
"It's not a belief, It's a fact" you corrected
"you know what else is a fact?" he took a short pause, not caring for your answer "you're being a bitch"
"I've always liked dogs" you glared at him
"you can't be serious? I tell you I like you and you just walk away like I don't matter. Like my feelings don't matter!" he yelled "and the sad part is that you don't even care, you think you're treating me fairly!"
"I hate you, how else am I supposed to treat someone I hate?" you questioned
"yeah, right, why do you hate me again? because you're afraid of showing your emotions? afraid of the true feelings you have for me?" he laughed dryly
"you scared me" you stated
"I scared you" he chuckled, licking his lips while looking down at his feet, he shook his head amused as his dimples became more defined
"that's pathetic. I scared you one time and you hate my guts and torture me for years? I apologised for doing it a million times!" he yelled hysterically
"why are you so mad?"
"I was trying to impress you! I have always tried impressing you but you don't get it. you just flip out. I was excited to show you what I could do. I didn't draw or animate for months after that. you hurt my feelings and you didn't even care!" he shouted
"why should I care?" you grilled
"do you seriously have no emotions or feelings whatsoever? it is so pathetic how little empathy you have for others." he scoffed
"feelings are a waste of time and emotions show weakness" you explained dully
"you are" he took a deep breath "a horrible person"
"I'm trying to not hurt your feelings" you said
"you already did! did you seriously think you can treat me like shit and not hurt my feelings!?" he screamed, running his hands down his face in frustration.
"it's not my fault I can't interpret you're emotions, it's nothing personal." you shrugged
"No, it never is with you, is it?! and you can't even apologise, you just come out with an excuse! I'm done with your bullshit. I should've been done a long time ago" he sighed angrily, hitting the pillar he had you against
"why haven't you sooner?"
"Because I love you!" he disclosed loudly "it's kind of hard to just forget those types of feelings for a person and leave"
"you should've told me" you swallowed a lump in your throat
"why do you think I came to your room that night, and even if I did you would've turn me down. every. single. time" he smiled sadly
you didn't know what to say. you couldn't form words. you didn't love emotions, but you couldn't stop them, it was a human right to have feelings.
"I'll see you around, Y/L/N"
he walked away from you one last time.

Bloodied petals - Xavier Thorpe x reader | Part.6
Summary: It’s time for you to disclose the truth about your condition to Principal Weems…and Xavier. But how much of that are you willing to share? Parents’ week-end brings a surprising new meeting.
Warnings: angst, mentions of blood, swearing; mention of cancer and incurable diseases.
A/N: it almost has fluff parts if you squint. Also there’s a lot of dialogues in there fsjbfhbs
[Masterlist] [Part.1] [Part.2] [Part.3] [Part.4] [Part.5]
Tumblr media
Silence weighed heavy in the small hospital room. No one uttered a word, waiting for the other to speak first. Unfortunately for you, Principal Weems had a lot less patience than you.
Before your stubborn silence she let out a frustrated sigh. “Fine,” she said dryly, “if you don’t want to talk, then I will. Your fellow students found you passed out in the woods, allegedly coughing blood and flowers. We brought you to the ICU, and doctors performed a scan, because heart massages weren’t enough.”
Weem’s words made you gulp slowly, as they reminded you how far the disease had already spread. Although her tone was very serious, the principal couldn’t deny the evident worry in her voice.
“You almost died, miss L/N,” she said in a softer, yet very much serious voice. “Doctors had to put you under respiratory support for half an hour before you could breathe on your own.”
A shiver ran down your spine. Shit, this was way, way more concerning that you had thought. The principal seemed to notice the level of distress it put you in, and softened.
“According to Mr Thorpe, you had experienced a panic attack earlier in the evening, is that true?”
You could only nod slowly, throat tight with emotions.
“Doctors think it’s what caused momentary heart failure,” she carried on. “But the scan results certainly intrigued them.”
Your eyes unwillingly glanced down the x-rays on your lap, showing large flowers on the inside of your lungs quite clearly. This time you wouldn’t be able to hide the truth.
“I’ve managed to convince them it was a very specific condition due to some family history,” she said casually, trying to sound as calm as possible. “Not that it had been easy.”
“Thank you,” you muttered, still not meeting her gaze.
The unexpected sound of your voice made her look at least slightly pleased. This was a good start.
“It’s my job as Nevermore’s Principal,” she said pointedly. “But there’s no need trying to play games with me, miss L/N, and I will not leave this room before I get some answers.”
Ah, there was the accusatory tone again. But you couldn’t tell Weems anything, what if she told everyone the truth? What if Xavier became ridden with guilt? Oh god, what if he shut you out again?
“I can’t,” you muttered, hands slightly trembling. “I can’t tell you.”
At your distressed state, Weems’ behavior changed to a mothering one in the blink of an eye and she reached out to put one of her hands on yours.
“You have to, Y/N,” she said softly but firmly, “according to those scans flowers are growing inside of your lungs, this is very concerning!”
“I can’t,” you cried, breaking down under the overwhelming emotions rising in your throat, “I can’t tell you, please.”
This time, her tone became more insistent, “I need to know, so I can call your aunt and inform her of the situation.”
The mention of your aunt made your blood freeze in your veins and you whipped your head so fast you thought your neck would break. Eyes wide open, you stared at Weems like a deer stuck in headlights.
When Weems called your name worriedly, the shivers that had momentarily stopped rocked your whole body once again.
“No, no no no no you can’t call my aunt, you can’t!” you whimpered, tears flowing down your cheeks uncontrollably. Nerves wrecked, you were beginning to sound straight up hysteric.
“She’s your legal guardian, I have to keep her informed,” she insisted, trying to calm you down, but nothing seemed to work.
You shook your head frantically, “Please,” you begged her, “please don’t tell her, I…you can’t tell her please.”
The cries turned into pathetic whimpers, until all you could do was to sob quietly, not caring if the Principal of the school were here to witness all of this. You were so tired.
“She will know eventually,” said Weems softly, trying to not trigger another tearful setback. “She’s your guardian, and we need to tell her what’s going on.”
Sniffling loudly, you let her words sink into your mind, the raging tempest within gradually calming down. Deep down, you knew that Weems was right. Your aunt was bound to find out one way or another, whether from the principal or yourself. So you whipped your nose and tentatively looked up to the Principal with puffy red eyes.
“I…I can’t tell you everything…but let me be the one telling my aunt,” you mumbled weakly. “Please…it’ll be easier for everyone…”
For a brief moment, Weems wanted to object to your demand. But the sight of your tear-stained face and pleading eyes refrained her. Seeing one of her usually strongest and most composed students having an heartbreaking emotional breakdown…she just knew she didn’t have to make things more difficult.
So she pursed her lips, and sighed heavily, “Fine. You can be the one informing your aunt.”
“Thank you,” you whispered faintly. “I…this means a lot to me.”
She sat deeper in her chair, eyeing the x-rays sheets once again, “I suppose you know what’s all about?”
You nodded slowly, and your following silence was enough sign for her to understand you wouldn’t divulge much more about it. “It’s spreading day by day,” you said in a small voice, “this…there’s no cure for this.”
She could only offer you a sorry look, darkened by the weight of those news. You and Principal Weems hadn’t always seen eye-to-eye, but she had been kind. She wanted to keep Nevermore students safe; and despite her efforts, you were going to die.
“I’m sorry to hear that, miss L/N,” she muttered quietly. “Is there anything we can do to ease this…cancer?”
Again, you shook your head. “Not really…I just want all of this to go smoothly, without too much damage…”
She nodded in understanding, raising slowly from her seat, “I see. If there’s anything you need to ease your struggle…do not hesitate to reach me.”
You let out a small thanks. Just as she was about to open the door, Principal Weems turned to you once more.
“I’m truly sorry for you, Y/N. I hope all of this will go smoothly for you.”
Even through blurry eyes, you forced a weak smile on your face, “Thank you ma’am.”
As soon as Weems exited your room, you let tears fall down your face. God, if you were getting this emotional just by getting a goodbye from the principal, then the evening of the Rave’n had weakened you more than you had thought.
A soft knock on the door pulled you out of your thoughts and you managed to whip away the corner of your eyes just in time before a familiar face stepped into the room.
“Hey,” greeted Xavier softly.
“Hey,” you said with a weak smile, heart soaring at his appearance.
No matter what happened before, you were so relieved to see him. You had almost died the previous night, and you remembered him running to your help before you blacked out. Disease or not, you loved Xavier and he was still your best friend; no matter how awkward things had been between you two the days before.
Approaching you carefully, he fidgeted nervously with a small bag which made you smile softly. At his awkward hesitation, eyes glancing to the chair next to the bed, you chuckled softly and shifted a little.
“C’mon don’t play coy,” you breathed out, patting the spot next to you on the bed. “You’re missing the sleepover.”
The joke made him break into a small laugh, easing the awkward tension and he indulged, sitting on the edge of the bed. He gave the small bag he was holding, unsure of where to begin.
“Here, it’s for you,” he said, “a get-well soon gift.”
Opening the bag to retrieve what was inside, you smiled softly at the cute pumpkin plushie. At the familiar let long-gone spark of fondness and genuine happiness in your eyes, Xavier felt his heart soar. He had missed this.
“This is super cute, thank you,” you smiled at him.
“Anytime,” he said before a weird silence took place again. Slightly shifting on his seat, he finally managed to ask you, “How are you feeling?”
As if echoing his question, your whole body whined in pain, “Feeble,” you rasped, “tired. Nothing a good night of sleep won’t fix I guess,” you told him, with what you hoped was a reassuring smile.
But the deep concerned look on Xavier’s face didn’t fade. “Except it won’t, will it?”
You casted your eyes down. No need to play dumb any longer; Xavier must’ve suspected something for a long time, but after what happened the night before, there was no need in lying.
“No it won’t,” you whispered.
He had probably seen Weems exiting your room with a dreadful expression. Given that and what he had seen in the woods…the image of your sprawled body, chest struggling to rise through the wheezes, the white outfit stained with red paint and blood burned his mind like hot iron. The way your eyes were clouded by the unconsciousness creeping, unable to focus as he had shouted your name, begging you to say something but your mouth unmoving and only drooling droplets of blood…little did the both of you know, this would haunt him for the longest time.
Leaning forward, Xavier took your hand in his. They were bigger than yours and calloused from his hours spent painting. Even if it wasn’t the first time the two of you held hands, it felt highly intimate.
“How bad?” he asked in a small voice, throat tight with emotion. He couldn’t even look at you, instead focusing on your intertwined hands; he feared that if he did, the tears already gathering at the corner of his eyes would spill. He had to be strong for his best friend.
“Pretty much shitty bad,” you mumbled.
“How bad?” he insisted, and you could swear you heard his voice break a little.
You gulped slowly, close to crying again, “Incurable kind of bad,” you finally managed to breath out after agonizing long seconds of silence.
Despite his best efforts to keep composure, Xavier choked on a broken sob. Maybe he had been in denial about this the whole time, maybe you were just very good at hiding it; no matter, hearing the truth was like a punch in the gut. Looking up at you with eyes full of tears, he looked completely broken.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he whispered in disbelief.
Despite the tears tickling your eyes, you tried to smile, “I couldn’t burden you with that, Xav. It’s…this is not an ordinary disease.”
He frowned slightly mouth agape, not quite understanding what it was all about. Picking up the x-ray sheets you silently handed them to him. The crease between his brows only deepened in confusion the more he looked at them, eyes flickering back to you with a silent question, like he didn’t dare to ask. You could only nod slowly, confirming the terrible fate those sheets already predicted. Xavier swore under his breath.
“Shit, it’s growing in your lungs?”. At your nod he swore again, “That’s why you’ve been coughing flowers…”
Your eyes widened slightly in surprise, “You noticed?”
“Been picking up some details since the Poe cup, yeah…” he trailed, “but I wish I'd figured things out sooner.”
You squeezed his hand, the one still gripping yours, “You couldn’t know,” you tried to reassure him. “Even I had a hard time finding out what it is.”
“Yes I could have known,” he whispered looking deep into your eyes, “you’ve tried to tell me so many times, and I…I was an idiot. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you.”
His words made your lips wobble and your eyes fuelling with tears once again. This sight was all it took for him for muttering a “c’me here” and tugging you into a hug. His contact made you break into tears, ugly sobbing on his shoulder. God, you were so not ready to say goodbye to him.
Your hands gripped on his back, like it could allow you to cling onto life a little longer. No matter how much all of this was because of him, you couldn’t wrap your mind around the idea of losing him forever. Xavier had always been your anchor, your best friend through everything no matter who his feelings had been directed to. And now…now you have cornered yourself to the point where even his presence wouldn’t be enough to save you from drowning.
“I’m scared Xav,” you sobbed against his neck, “I’m so fucking scared of dying.”
His hand drew soft circles on your back, trying to soothe you the best he could; but also to remind him that you were still here. “I know sweetheart,” he whispered, head buried against yours.
The truth was he had no idea what to say to you to make you feel better; if you weren’t shaking, you could have felt him trembling too. Tears rolled on his cheeks in silence; he was so scared of losing you too. So he did the only thing he could do for now; he cradled you in his arms, occasionally pressing soft kisses on your hair, hoping this would ease you at least a little bit. In all of his life, Xavier had never felt so helpless.
As your sobs continued, a part of you started to be plagued with guilt for not telling Xavier what was exactly going on. The perspective of an upcoming death and the inevitable loss it would entail was painful enough, the last thing you wished for was for him to be guilt ridden.
When you seemed to calm down a little, Xavier swallowed thickly, voice full of tears, “Is there anything we can do?”
Despite the guilt, you shook your head and his heart broke a little more.
It wasn’t his fault you thought, no one could decide their feelings; the gradual decay of your own body would be dreadful enough for Xavier, there was no need of making him think it was actually his fault. You would take this secret with you in the tomb, that you swore to yourself.
“I’ve tried to curb it with a potion but it didn’t work,” you admitted weakly. “I thought that weed killer would work.”
His eyes widened, “Weed ki– Y/N that shit’s toxic as fuck!”
Ashamed, you cast your eyes down, “I just tried to fix this.”
Xavier squeezed your hands, “This isn’t fixing anything, you’ve basically been poisoning yourself!”
“And what was I supposed to do?” you snapped back, eyes full of tears. “Waiting patiently for this to kill me? Stay here and do nothing? Fuck Xavier, do you have any idea of how painful this is?”
The gradation in your voice’s volume made your body tremble like a leaf. The anger and bitter sadness had risen up so suddenly, you hadn’t noticed your knuckle turning white as you gripped Xavier’s hand tightly. Realizing how much he had upset you Xavier quickly brought you into another hug, whispering apologies and shushing sounds into your ear. The angry bubbling turned into sobs, and soon you ended up whimpering in Xavier’s arms again.
After a few moments, you sniffled. “Just…can you stay by my side?” you asked with a small voice. “I don’t want to be alone before…before it ends.”
Xavier lifted your chin, making you look up at his glossy hazel eyes. The emotions they held seemed enough to bring a man to his knees. “Of course,” he breathed out softly, “I’m not going anywhere, I promise.”
Despite the hot tears starting to flow again a relieved smile stretched your trembling lips. “Thank you,” you whispered, and hugged him again.
For now, all you wanted was to spend as much time as you could with Xavier. Even if it was only as his best friend, it was already enough for you. The time you had spent together had always been your oxygen, something that got you through the days. It could help to push away the crushing fear of dying long enough. It had to.
Gently tugging you from the hug, Xavier pressed his forehead against yours, “You’re my girl, remember? There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”
You tried to smile weakly, “Thank you…”
He kissed your forehead so softly, like you were made of glass. His own selfish behavior from the previous weeks taunted him at the back of his mind, plaguing him with guilt. Why didn’t he pay more attention? Why has he let himself be blinded by some weird fascination for a girl who clearly didn’t give shit about him, while his own best friend was fighting for her life?
Tightly gripping one of your hands, he almost wanted to cry. He had been such a fool.
“Hey,” you said, gently tugging his hand to make him look at you, “it’s gonna be okay, alright?”
He shook his head in defeat, “It’s not fair,” he mumbled to try to hide his broken voice, “I wish we had more time.”
Smiling weakly, you intertwined your fingers together, “We had plenty already. I don’t regret anything.”
Xavier looked up at you; behind the crestfallen look in your eyes, he knew that you were, among other things, referring to your kiss.
“But I do,” he said softly.
Suddenly your heart dropped in your stomach, and for the briefest moment you felt like the world had stopped. Seeing your frozen state, Xavier quickly took your other hand with him in a comforting manner.
“I regret not having given more time to think about us,” he clarified.
Eyes widening, you could only gap at him in disbelief. “You thought about us?” you whispered. He nodded. After how the previous discussion about this topic had ended and his rejection after you kissed…you didn’t believe you’ll talk about this ever again.
“But I thought…you said…”
“Yeah,” he croaked awkwardly, “I know what I said, I’ve been a jerk. And I’m sorry that I’ve hurt you sweetheart, I truly am.”
Casting your eyes down, you didn’t have the heart to tell him that he hadn’t. He definitely had.
“I can’t force you to love me that way if you don’t,” you said feebly. One of his hands came to cradle your cheek, turning your face to him once again.
“But what if I want to?” he said, eyes almost pleading. “What if I want to give it a shot? To give us a chance?”
This took you off-balance for a second. At first you gasped at his words, then frowned slightly.
“I don’t want to force your hand on your feelings for a charity case Xavier,” you warned with a trembling voice. “I don’t need pity-feed love, please.”
His eyes widened, “What? No! Y/N I promise, it’s not that,” he assured, softly stroking his thumb over your cheekbone in an attempt of a soothing gesture. “I know the timing isn’t the best, but I promise you that I’m honest with you.”
Looking at him with big watery eyes, you still quite couldn’t believe what you were hearing. “You really want to try this?” you whispered as he nodded with a faint smile. “But…I mean after we kissed…”
Once again, his own previous actions seemed to embarrass him, “I know, I– I didn’t really think then, I’ve been dumb. But after that I started to…to think about this more and more.”
“Then why…why did you invite Bianca?” you asked, still dumbfounded.
“I didn’t want to be the guy playing with your heart,” he said with sad eyes, “not after you had admitted that- that you loved me.”
Hearing him saying it out loud, for the first time ever, made your heart swell and you couldn’t help but smile softly at him, which made him smile too.
“I’ve come to realize that, maybe…maybe I could love you too.”
His words made you frown once again, “I don’t want you to force yourself.”
“I’m not I promise,” he insisted, mentally cursing at himself for his poor choice of words. “I care about you Y/N, a lot. And,” he added with an almost shy smile, “I’ve thought about you as more than a friend before. Often.”
Tears came to your eyes; this time, with joy. “You did?”
“Yeah,” he smiled, “I’ve been wondering recently…why I hadn’t let you in that way.”
That brought an almost sorry look in your eyes. Xavier had the tendency to torture himself – must be his artistic side. No doubt he was giving himself as much hard time as he could about this.
“What changed your mind about this?” you asked softly, curious.
Xavier nervously rubbed his neck, “Well, I had the thought hidden at the back of my mind for a long time but…I guess getting a little push helped.”
Your eyebrows rose, “A push?”
He let out an awkward chuckle, “More like life advice laced with threats from Enid, then Wednesday…definitely more threats on her side.”
That made you laugh a little, picturing the scene in your mind. You could definitely imagine them roasting Xavier to politeness’ limits.
“Bianca spoke to me about this too,” he added.
“She did?” you asked in surprise, “what did she say?”
“Something along the lines of me being an idiot,” he grinned shyly. A laugh escaped your throat, soon followed by Xavier’s.
“Yeah that sounds like something she would say,” you agreed between light laughs. “But seriously,” you added more quietly after a few moments of guiltless euphoria, “why now?”
He hesitated, almost looking ashamed of himself.
“I guess it just started to make sense recently.”
“How so?” you frowned.
“I think the best friend tag put me in more denial than I thought,” he shrugged. “But ever since you asked me about us, you know, in my room that other night…it kept turning in my mind.”. His eyes bore into yours, burning with heavy remorses and unspoken things, “I… I just don’t know when I could return your feelings.”
Unable to contain your smile, you squeezed the hand that was still holding your face. Xavier had feelings for you; he could love you. All he needed was time to figure out his emotions. Maybe there was hope for you after all.
Hugging him tightly, you closed your eyes, hopeful tears escaping them.
“Don’t worry,” you whispered, “I’ll wait for you. I always will.”
Xavier smiled, and pressed a long, soft kiss to your forehead.
He had unknowingly lightened a spark of hope in you. You just hoped that his heart would win this race against time in which your own body was trapped, or else you would be lying to him once again. Even if you had promised you would wait for him, you weren’t so sure that the sickness would.

The doctors signed off your release forms the next day. You had just changed from the hospital gown to your casual clothes when someone knocked on your door.
“Come in,” you called out while putting on your shoes.
The door opened on your monochrome roommate.
“Wednesday,” you said surprised, “what are you doing here?”
“I was visiting Eugene,” she said flatly, “I heard you had woken up.”
Despite your initial surprise you nodded, “Yeah, the doctors gave me authorization to go back to school. Not that they can do anything for me anyway, “ you muttered the last part.
“Do they know about your condition?” she asked.
You shook your head, “So far, you’re the only one knowing everything. Weems knows parts of it; so does Xavier.”
“You told him?” she raised her eyebrow.
Almost shyly you cast your eyes down, “Not everything. He doesn’t know he’s…that he has something to do with it.”
After a pause, Wednesday spoke again, “This is a rather strategic decision. If you’re dying, there’s no reason to burden yourself with more guilt from him. You’re probably in enough pain, lucky you.”
It almost made you chuckle, “I’m surprised you actually agree with my feelings.”
“I’m not,” she denied sharply, “like I said, it’s only a strategic move.”
You only shrugged in response.
“How’s Eugene?” you asked in a small voice.
Wednesday’s harsh expression softened a little, “He’s okay. Still unconscious, but okay.”
This news saddened you a little. Sure, Eugene was out of danger, but he didn’t deserve to end up in a hospital bed.
“His mothers asked me to thank you by the way,” she added, and you lifted your head in surprise. “They learned that you had gone to his rescue.”
“Yeah, except I couldn’t help him,” you mumbled bitterly.
She shrugged, “Still, they are passing you their thanks.”
Pulling your jacket, you swallowed your shame. Eugene didn’t owe you anything, you hadn’t been able to help him; you didn’t deserve his mums’ thanks.
“I wished to thank you too,” added Wednesday quietly. At your once again shocked expression she continued, “You didn’t have to run to his aid, yet you didn’t hesitate to. So, thank you.”
Once the initial surprise wore off you smiled slightly, “Is that compassion I heard from you, Wednesday Addams?”
“Don’t flatter yourself,” she deadpanned.
“I’m not talking about me though, I’m talking about Eugene. You have a soft spot for that kid.”
She narrowed her eyes at you but said nothing. You chuckled, knowing you were right.
“Well you’re welcome,” you said grabbing your bag – in which the pumpkin plushie Xavier gifted you laid carefully, “Always a pleasure to prove a point.”
“Which point?” she frowned.
“That no matter how much you despise them, you do have feelings Wednesday.”
With that, you left the room and quietly made your way to the entrance where Principal Weems waited for you to bring you back to Nevermore. Even if she looked the same as usual, elegant as ever, you didn’t miss the pitiful look in her eyes everytime she looked at you. The looming figure of upcoming death above you was something she couldn’t ignore; you guessed that it was going to be like this, now.
“Your aunt called,” she told you as the both of you were seated in her car, driving away from the hospital. “She can’t make it to the parents’ week-end.”
This made your heart squeeze a little, but you weren’t exactly surprised, “Oh,” you said simply, “guess I should’ve seen that coming.”
In the corner of your eye you could see the sorry look of Principal Weems. After a few moments of silence, she said, “I didn’t tell her about your condition.”
“Thank you,” you muttered, glad the principal actually kept her word. “I’ll call her this week-end.”
Maybe in the meantime things would change; but you doubted it.
When you reached Nevermore the first place you went to was your room, only to be trapped in a bone-crushing hug by Enid. The werewolf didn’t sound like she was aware of the extent of the disease, because she rambled about the importance of good sleep and healthy feeding in a very cute and concerned way. Apparently, she still thought you had passed out from exhaustion, meaning she hadn’t seen your body the night of the Rave’n. Which was good; with the upcoming arrival of her parents the day after, you knew you couldn’t tell her everything now. Her relationship with her mother had its lots of complications, your health would wait.
Then after reassuring Enid that you were now fine, you grabbed a few of your belongings and made your way to the boys’ dormitory. Xavier opened his door after the first knock.
“Hey,” you said quietly, “can I stay here tonight?”
He smiled softly at you, before letting you in, “Of course.”
His room hadn’t changed much since the last time you had come. It felt oddly comforting, like a safe space. Carefully taking your hands in his, Xavier slowly guided you to his bed. He laid down on his back and you snuggled on his side, head against his chest. One of his hands naturally found its way to your hair, getting lost in your locks. The soothing beating of his heart against your ear seemed enough to keep the both of you alive.
“Does it still hurt?” he mumbled against your hairline.
You nodded, unable to tell him how much pain you were in. “Sometimes it calms down,” you tried to reassure him.
Still, he winced at your words. “I’m not letting you down this time,” he whispered, throat tight, “I promise.”
Craning your head up to look at him, you smiled softly, “I know, Xav. You and me against the world, right?”
The words the both of you had kept saying through your childhood brought a small smile on his face. “Yeah,” he kissed your forehead, “you and me against the world, sweetheart.”
That night, despite the dreadful and irksome sensation of the flowers clawing in your throat, you slept peacefully. No matter how your lungs ached, the only thing that mattered was Xavier’s arms wrapped safely around you.

When the first day of parent’s week-end rolled by the morning after, you knew that it was going to be a long day for both Xavier and you. Even your mutual soothing presences couldn’t tune down the anxiety that grew as the morning went on. From one of the passageways above the quad, Xavier was glancing either to his phone or to the school gates every ten seconds. Waiting for his father to either make an appearance, or a call. Leaning on the balcony next to him you nudged his shoulder with your in a silent gesture of support. He flashed a small smile for reassurance, but you knew the absence of his father hurt him.
“He’s not coming,” he said bitterly.
“There’s still people arriving, maybe he will show up,” you tried.
He tsked, “You know him Y/N. Mighty Vincent Thorpe doesn’t have time for his unworthy son.”
“Hey,” you insisted, putting a hand on his, “don’t say that. You’re kind and talented, no matter what he says.”
Xavier smiled softly at your words, but his eyes were still tainted with sorrow. Cradling his cheek you brushed your thumb over his cheekbones, “You’re worthy to me, Xav. You’re already twice the man your father will ever be.”
His smile broadened and he kissed your palm, muttering a thanks. He shouldn’t dwell on his father's antics; you were there, and that was all that mattered.
“Your aunt’s coming?” he asked quietly, lifting his face from your hand to instead take it in his.
“No,” you said sadly, “she’s busy too. But I’ll call her later.”
This time, it was his turn to frown, “Does she know yet?”
You shook your head, “This isn’t going to be a pleasant conversation.”
“Do you want me to be here when you’ll call her?” he suggested softly.
His support offer touched you, but your heart clenched anyway, “No I…this is something I need to do on my own.”
Xavier nodded in understanding. He didn’t want to press the issue further, this was your call to make.
Down in the quad, you noticed that Enid’s family had finally arrived. Even from up here you could practically hear Enid’s anxiety. As you looked back to Xavier to speak, you noticed the lonely figure of Bianca a few feet away from the both of you, hesitant to approach. Xavier followed your eyes and glanced behind his shoulder to the siren.
“I’m going to give Enid some emotional support,” you said softly, squeezing his hand. “We’ll see each other when the buffet starts, okay?”
He nodded, kissing your knuckles as a goodbye. Before you walked away you nodded in Bianca’s direction, “Go talk to her.”
He frowned, slightly surprised by your words, “You’re sure?”
You nodded. Him and Bianca weren’t together anymore, but that didn’t change the fact that they were friends. And after the little heart-to-heart you had with her at the party…you knew she needed her friend.
“She’s alone too, today,” you said, noticing the absence of her mother.
“I don’t want to leave you,” he whispered.
You smiled at him. “You’re not, I promise. Go, I’m going to Enid and I’ll find you later.”
Passing next to Bianca, you mirrored her unusual kind smile. It seemed that your heart-to-heart had unlocked a strange form of compassion. Maybe if you had more time, you could be friends with her, you thought as you went down to the quad.
Crossing the crowded space to get to your blonde roommate, you didn’t expect to run into Wednesday and a handful of black-claded people accompanying her.
“Y/N,” she greeted sharply, “if you’re trying to flee this gruesome social obligation, I must ask you to consider helping me on this matter.”
The plump man behind her let out a rich laugh. “Ah, did our little nightmare finally make a friend, then?”
Wednesday glared at him. But that didn’t seem to disencourage the man who nudged her, “Well, why don’t you introduce us to your friend, my little death trap?”
She rolled her eyes so you took the initiative, extending your hand, “I’m Y/N L/N, Wednesday’s roommate. Pleasure meeting you, sir.”
He shook your hand before bowing his head slightly yet in a very theatrical gesture, “I’m Gomez Addams, Wednesday’s father. Thank you for having welcomed our daughter with open arms.”
You heard Wednesday snort, but you put on a polite smile, “Wednesday’s a very considerate roommate, sir. We get along fine.”
On the corner of your eyes you could notice the way her eyebrows slightly rose up in surprise. Surely, she didn’t expect such compliments; but you had to give it to her, she had been respectful of your boundaries the best she could, no matter how nosy she might have been. Plus, you probably owed her your life for having found you in the woods after the Rave’n.
“Whatever,” she huffed, starting to walk away with her father following her with playful pleas.
“It’s a true delight to see Wednesday getting along with someone,” said a feminine voice from behind you.
You turned around to face a raven-haired woman dressed in a long dramatic dress, hands elegantly crossed in front of her. Despite her rather gloomy appearance, she had kind eyes and a soft smile.
“Thank you for indulging my daughter's behavior, miss L/N,” she said with a smile. “Wednesday has a lot of qualities, but her social skills aren’t of those.”
That made you smile a little, extending your hand to her, “You must be Wednesday’s mother. A pleasure ma’am.”
She came to reach your outreached hand, “My name’s Morticia. A witch, aren’t you Miss L/N? I’ve heard about your aunt’s reputation before.”
You were about to confirm her words, but as soon as her hand touched yours for a handshake, Morticia froze, eyes widening. It was only for a brief moment, a breath really, but once she seemed to regain her spirits the previously kind expression on her face turned into despair.
“Oh poor child,” she whispered, mouth agape. “What a dreadful path you’re on.”
Morticia’s reaction troubled you; what had happened? “Excuse me?”
Her eyes bore into yours, and what you saw surprised you even more: they were glossy with tears.
“I saw what’s plaguing you. You’re cursed with Hanahaki disease, aren’t you?”
Her words stunned you right on the spot. How was this possible? How could she possibly know?
As panic started to overflow your mind, the familiar tickling urge and taste of blood rushed in your throat.
“How?...” you whispered, chest tight and burning under the flower’s pressure.
Her tearful eyes turned into a sympathetic expression, “I am gifted with visions, and I saw what looms over you.”
No matter how hard you tried to restrain them, tears were already gathering in your eyes and you nodded painfully. “You know about the disease? But how? It has been so difficult to learn anything about it.”
She smiled sadly at you, “I know many things about love, dear child. Especially cursed ones.”
As on cue, you coughed a handful of bloodied petals in your hand. Morticia Addams winced at the pitiful sight. Immediately, your eyes flickered to the higher passageway as you felt Xavier’s eyes on you. He must have heard you cough somehow, because even from where you stood, you could see his panicked eyes. He looked ready to jump over the balcony in the blink of an eye, worry consuming him. But you slightly shook your head, mouthing that you were fine. That didn’t erase his discomfort, but at least he started to make his way hurriedly to the stairs instead of rushing down in the dumbest way possible. Morticia didn’t miss any of this.
“Is that him?” asked Wednesday’s mother softly.
You nodded slowly. This was strange, you knew this woman for less than five minutes but her motherly aura somehow made you at ease.
“Does he know?” she pressed carefully, and the negative shake of your head made her heart fill with sadness for you.
“He can never know,” you whispered, casting your eyes down to hide your tears. “It would break him to know it’s somehow his fault.”
She lifted your chin gently, with one finger. The sorrowful, yet kind look she was giving you made your heart swell.
“But he cares about you. I can see that.”
You could only shrug in defeat, “What if it can’t save me?”
She smiled softly at you, “I didn’t see your end, dear child. Only great pain, the one going through. But if that boy is close to you, maybe that’s why my vision didn’t show me your demise.”
That made your eyes widen. Could there still be a chance, like you had hoped?
“Does that mean…do you think there’s still a chance for me to heal, then?” you whispered in disbelief.
Letting go of your chin, she nodded, “My visions are often incomplete, but rarely wrong. And my sight does not fool me, young Y/N. I saw the look you both shared.”. Replacing a strand of hair behind your ear in a mothering care, she smiled, “There is hope, as long as there is love.”
Noticing the upcoming figure of a very concerned Xavier behind you, Morticia smiled one last time.
“It’s been a pleasure meeting you, Y/N. I sincerely hope we’ll run into each other again.”
Through your blurry eyes, you offered her a weak but sincere smile. “Me too, Mrs.Addams. And…thank you.”
With one last enigmatic smile, she walked away gracefully to rejoin her family, just as Xavier reached you.
“Hey,” he whispered, “you’re alright?”
Whipping the gathering tears with the back of your hand, you nodded, “Yeah…I made a surprising encounter that’s all.”
He looked over at the dark yet classy figure of Morticia Addams on the other side of the quad and frowned. “Isn’t that Wednesday’s mum?”
Looking at this reassuring mother figure, you smiled softly, “Yeah, she is. She’s great.”
About half an hour later it turned out that no matter how kind your roommate’s mom was, karma had a strange sense of humor. That’s what you thought when the police arrested Gomez Addams for a murder aged 20 years. This definitely put a stain on the joyful ambience of parents’ weekend, but the festivities resumed soon after. As the night started to roll by, you knew that you ultimately had to call your aunt.
“You’re sure you don’t want me to be here for support?” asked Xavier, hand in yours before your room’s door.
“I’ll be fine,” you reassured him, still thankful he offered. “Aunt Cordelia and I will have a lot of things to talk about, it won’t be a fun conversation.”
At his still worried look, you suddenly felt bolder and kissed his cheek, nearly on the corner of his mouth. This wasn’t unusual for the both of you, but it was the first time since you had actually kissed. His eyes widened slightly, but it was soon replaced by a soft smile.
“I’ll text you when it’s over, okay?” you promised him.
“Okay,” he finally admitted, “if anything’s wrong, just text me I’ll be there in a minute.”
His devotion made you smile. Xavier had always been protective of you when you were kids, but since you had confessed your love to him, this was a whole new level, even if he didn’t return your romantic feelings yet.
Reluctantly letting go of his hand, you pushed open your door, catching one last glance before closing it behind you. The silence and emptiness of the room made you let out a long sigh. Enid was sleeping outside with her family, and Wednesday must have been visiting her father in detention. This was the perfect moment to make that phone call.
Grabbing your phone and composing your aunt’s number before courage wore off of you, you stepped on the balcony behind the large web-shaped window. The cool air of the night felt nice against the skin of your sore throat; you had thrown up again quite a lot today, much to Xavier’s worry.
Your aunt picked up at the last ringtone, “Good to know you’re still alive, Y/N,” she said as a greeting.
Her choice of words almost made you choke on your own breath. She had no idea. “Yeah…hi aunt Cordelia…”
On the other side of the phone, you could picture her frowning, “Oooh, what’s with that sad voice, pumpkin? Is something wrong?”
You tried to speak, but the words wouldn’t come out; instead a wave of emotion rushed in your throat, tightening it so hard it made tears come out of your eyes.
“Y/N? Are you alright?” called out your aunt.
And then you broke down in tears, “I’m dying,” you cried out. Here, you said it. Blurted it because every emotion you had repressed recently for the sake of Xavier or anyone else had overwhelmed you, crashing into you like a high wave. And now the tears wouldn't stop.
“Wait, wait, slow down Y/N, slow down,” said the worried voice on the phone, “Take a deep breath, okay?”
“I can’t,” you whimpered in between tears, “it hurts too much. I- I have flowers growing in my lungs and I c-can’t breathe,” you hiccuped. A long, dreadful silence echoed your sobs; so long you thought your aunt had dropped her phone. “Aunt Cordelia?...”
Her rasping voice answered you at last, “You have Hanahaki disease?”
“Yes,” you hiccuped in surprise, “how do you…”
“I just know. It’s Xavier isn’t it?” she cut you off, voice trembling because of the shock.
Trembling, you nodded. She couldn’t see that, but you knew she understood.
“I’m taking the first flight to Nevermore tomorrow morning,” she said curtly, “I’m picking you up.”
“What?” you blurted; the tears had gradually stopped flowing, “why?”
“So we can get you fixed, Y/N,” she said in a harsh tone. But you knew her; the truth was that behind that tone, she was terrified. Still, it didn’t stop you from starting to cry again.
“Please don’t,” you begged, “please. I don’t want to leave Nevermore, not now!”
Your aunt let out a frustrated sigh, “There’s nothing for you here anymore! You need to come back home, so we can start to cure this.”
Her words caught your breath.
“There’s a cure?” you whispered in disbelief. “But I thought…I’ve read nothing about it.”
Suddenly, the tone in your aunt’s voice changed to something softer. And tainted with regrets. “It’s not a pretty thing to do, pumpkin,” she admitted. “It requires making difficult decisions.”
“But…but the disease will disappear if Xavier actually loves me back, isn’t it?” you stuttered frantically. “He’s trying, I promise we have a chance.”
“Oh Y/N…” sighed your aunt, “This isn’t how it works love…”
“We have a chance!” you repeated, starting to cry again, “Please aunt Cordelia, we only need a little more time, don’t make me leave…please…”
“You’re dying, Y/N,” she snapped, “time is a luxury you don’t have!”
The way she had snapped at you startled you; even if she hadn’t always been the most present parent, aunt Cordelia had never screamed or scolded you.
After a brief moment of silence, where she realized her mistake, Cordelia sighed again.
“Listen pumpkin…I’ve already lost your mother, I can’t lose you too…”
Tears continued to roll down your cheeks. You didn’t dare to speak, afraid that your voice would break under the weight of emotions.
“I want to believe in Xavier and you, I really do okay? He’s a good man, and I’m sure he might love you someday.”
“But?” you asked with a trembling voice.
“But…Hanahaki disease never ends well darling,” she said in a sorry tone. “Trust me, I’ve seen people trying to fight it, but no matter how hard they tried they never survived.”
All the hopes that the encounter with Morticia Addams had awakened in your heart suddenly crumbled to ashes.
“So…I’m doomed?” you cried.
The silence that answered you was worth a thousand words. Your back hit the stone wall and you let your whole body slump against it; your legs couldn’t hold you up any longer.
“I’m sorry pumpkin,” muttered your aunt.
Biting your lips not to scream, you managed to let out the words you never thought you’d say, “What is this cure…the one you were talking about?”
Surprisingly, she sounded hesitant now. “It’s a surgical operation,” she explained slowly, “it gets the flowers and roots completely removed. But it comes with a price.”
“Which price?” you whispered between trembling lips.
“You…” she hesitated, “you would forget all memories of Xavier. And it’s highly likely you’ll never get to love again.”
Choking on air, you let out a small strangled cry.
“I can’t,” you croaked, “you can’t ask me to do this.”
“Y/N darling, I understand,” she begged, “but you must if you want to live.”
You squeezed your eyes tight, like you could suddenly wake up from this nightmare, leaving it all behind with the retiring night.
“I understand he’s important to you,” she conceded gently, “are you really willing to die for him though?”
Your answer was instantaneous, “I have faith in him. I can- we can do this, I know it.”
She remained silent. Maybe you were already too deep into denial for her to change your mind. So she sighed in defeat.
“You’re as stubborn as your mother,” she said quietly, “if I let you stay at Nevermore, would you promise me that if he can’t save you on time you would consider getting the flowers removed?”
The hesitation was what betrayed you, “I…I can’t promise you that.”. But she already knew the answer.
“I know. But I also know that you won’t completely push away the possibility. I love you, pumpkin.”
Before you could add anything, she hung up. Shoulders slumping you buried your face in your hands, letting tears down.
How did the hope that had been building up over the last two days become so fragile? You wanted to believe in Xavier, with all of your heart you truly did. It just was beginning to be incredibly harder that you had thought.
