Tom had planned a cute date for us, a fancy resturant in town, a very strict dress code. I put on my nicest dress, a silky red dress with black heels and a black bag. My hair was done neatly, flowing over my shoulders and my makeup was simple and elegant.

Tom was at work and told me he'd meet me there. I had no reason not to trust him, he was never late for dates, EVER.

I arrived at the resturant and got seated, noticing he wasn't here yet. I figured he was on his way, he just had to finish an errand. I just sat there, twiddling with my thumbs, looking over the menu.

The food sounded weird, fancy names I'd never heard of. I decided to order a bottle of wine since he wasn't here yet, I could wait for food. The waiter came over and I ordered an aged red wine, a very expensive one.

30 minutes went by, 3 glasses down and no Tom. I was getting frustrated, how long was he going to take? If he didn't show up soon I'd go home.

Another 30 went by, no calls, no texts, no tom, 6 glasses of wine. The bottle had nearly finished and people were staring at me, assuming I was an alcoholic, I sighed and decided to order some food, I was starving.

I ordered a simple pasta dish, still waiting for Tom to arrive. By now it had been 2 hours, I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but all the excuses I made up in my head had just blown out.

I finished my meal and paid, walking out of the resturant, tears welling up in my eyes. I called his phone and with a few rings it was sent to voicemail, was he ignoring me now?

"Tom, if you're hearing this I'm so fucking angry, you stand me up at the date you planned? Fuck you, you really are an asshole" I started to cry "I sat there like an idiot, waiting 2 hours for you!" I screamed into the phone before hanging up, walking back home.

As soon as I got home I slammed the door shut, locking it behind me and storming into the bedroom, taking all my makeup off, my hair tied up, clothes off and pyjamas on, in bed and sobbing.

An hour went by, I was reading a book to try calm myself down when I heard the front door shut, I scoffed to myself and shook my head, I wonder how I was going to react to seeing him walk in.

"Schatz?" He called out, he sounded panicked and rushed, upset almost? He ran into the room, panting and going towards me, "oh baby I'm so fucking sorry, I forgot all about our date, I just got so caught up at work" he sat down next to me, holding my hands in his.

I sighed, not being able to look at him. "You hurt me Tom..I looked like a fucking alcoholic in there!" I sighed heavily, he grabbed my chin and lifted it to look at him.

"I know honey, I know and I'm sorry but I'll never let this happen again, lets go out tomorrow hey? Do something special, make it up to my beautiful girl.." he said softly, caressing my cheek.

I sighed and caved in, I knew he didn't do it on purpose, he really did love me and deeply regretted how forgetful he was, letting work take over his life.

"Okay..fine.." I rolled my eyes, he chuckled and kissed my forehead lovingly, "let's go to bed baby, it's been a long day" he slipped his pyjamas on and climbed into bed with me, holding me close and kissing my hair.

"I love you, always and forever, you know that baby" I smiled brightly "I love you more Tom..goodnight" I slowly drifted into a deep sleep in his arms.
