What if the cut Hive Arcade that was in the Fazcade was an 18+ arcade? Like you go in there and it's all slots and one armed bandits and stuff
DJ's bouncer mode including just sorta sitting there in the doorway so little kids can't get past him into the Gambling Zone

Shouldn’t be too hard on myself 2. It will be hard. 3. I tried my best. 4. And I WILL BE OKAY. like it’s so hard to let go when I love some one so much but if they just can’t be in a relationship w me bc of whatever then that’s it’s whatever. I know eventually I will be okay sad for a while and even feel guilty bc of the shit that’s also going on from my family but my coworker was right when I talked to her about just doing right by me and my lil man ALSO ON OF MY RESOLUTIONS FOR THIS YEAR IS TO BE KINDA SOBER TOO AND JUST FIND ME AGSIN. Companions reacting to the couriers birthday
Thanks for the lighthearted one, anon, lately I've been getting some super plot-heavy, game mechanics-heavy or just plain heavy requests, so a birthday is just what the doctor ordered 🎂 Also a happy birthday to @profess0rjam!
The courier had been acting a little strange. They slept in for once, something that had hardly happened since the mess at the dam. They seemed like they weren't paying attention to anything around them, even though Freeside was in rare form that day with caravan traders, pickpockets and children hunting rats all over the place. It wasn't until the courier tripped over a crate of barrel cactus fruit outside a farmer's trading stand and had to apologize by buying all of the bruised produce that their companion finally turned a questioning eye on them.
The courier looked down at the armful of fruit they had acquired and sighed. "Remember when we went through Primm last month? I stopped in at the Mojave Express branch there, and Johnson told me he got those records in from the Hub. Most of it was stuff I already knew- height, weight, eye color, hair color, shoe size for some reason... but they also had my birth date. It's today."
Arcade Gannon: "Whoa." Arcade straightened his glasses. "Uh... happy birthday. How do you feel?"
The courier looked from side to side and shrugged. "I don't know. I don't feel any different. Is that normal?"
"Um... yeah?" Arcade chuckled nervously. "I mean, you know you're a year older, but it's not like a switch gets turned on or off. You were still getting older even when you didn't know when your birthday was, Six."
"Yeah, but now it's... marked," the courier replied, wrinkling their nose. "Like when Mr. New Vegas talks about me on the radio. I feel weirder about his news bulletins than I do while I'm actually out doing the things he reports on."
"Well, you're alone on that one, Six," Arcade said with a hint of jealousy in his voice. "Not everyone can attract that DJ's attention the way you do. Then again, if I ever wind up on the radio, it probably won't be good news for me."
He patted the courier on the shoulder reassuringly. "Come on. Let's get rid of the cacti fruit and head to the Atomic Wrangler to celebrate. I'll buy you a drink."
Craig Boone: "Did their records tell you anything else?" Boone asked.
"Uh... no," the courier replied. "Well, a couple of things, actually. They kept track of most of my trips when they first hired me. I've been all over the place, apparently: Circle Junction, Fort Abandon, around the Big Circle a few times, even Utah. They also wrote down that I refused to tell them where I came from, so no new info there."
"Mmm-hm." Boone frowned. "It's a start, for sure. Maybe you can retrace your steps, someday."
"Yeah." The courier picked a piece of fruit and held it up, inspecting its color. "We should do something fun tonight. Celebrate."
Boone cracked a rare smile. "For your birthday? Sure."
"Want to go see a show at the Tops with me? I think the Lonesome Drifter is playing the Aces again. Maybe we can catch him after for a drink, ask him about his travels."
Boone moved to accept a few of the cactus fruit and lighten their load. "Sounds good to me."
Lily Bowen: "Well isn't that just grand," Lily said with a smile. "How old are you turning, dearie?"
The courier made a face and giggled. "How old are you, Lily?"
"A lady never reveals her age," Lily answered primly. "Point taken, pumpkin. You should walk that fruit home to the icebox while Grandma gets going on her shopping list."
"Shopping list?"
Lily nodded. "Of course. Flour, eggs, butter, sugar, and a few other things."
The courier gave her a sly look. "What are you up to, Lily?"
"It's your birthday, dearie!" Lily replied, seizing them and the fruit they were carrying in a hug. "We have to bake a cake!"
Raul Alfonso Tejada: Raul grinned. "Feliz cumpleaños, Six. Happy birthday."
The courier looked back at him with frustrated helplessness in their eyes. "What am I supposed to do with that information? What do people do for their birthdays?"
"Well, it's a bit different now than it used to be," Raul answered, scratching his bald head. "But back in my day, we threw a little party if we had the time and money. Some years were better than others, and some were bigger milestones. In my experience, once you got past 18 there wasn't much left to celebrate except staying alive for another year. Or if you were en los Estados Unidos, 21."
"Okay." The courier nodded, then kept nodding. "Okay. Can you do me a favor?"
"Sí."
They dumped the armful of fruit into his hands. "Take those to the Old Mormon Fort and pass them out to anyone who looks hungry. I need to track down some friends and see what they're doing tonight."
Rose of Sharon Cassidy: "It's your birthday?!?" Cass was positively beaming. "Well shit, Six. Could've told me sooner, and I'd have planned some kind of surprise."
"Eh-heh." The courier looked sheepish. "That's what I was afraid of."
"What?" Cass put her hands on her hips. "I didn't think my surprises were that bad."
"No, no, it's not that," the courier reassured her. "It's me. You know what I do, what I've been up to. I wasn't sure I'd... I have a lot of enemies, Cass!"
"Ohhhhh, I get it." Cass threw an arm around their shoulder and steered them through the Freeside marketplace. "You weren't sure you'd make it to today, so you didn't say anything. Gotcha."
"And I'd feel like crap if I told you my birthday was coming up, and then I bit the dust after you'd already bought me a present or something," the courier added.
"Pffft." Cass waved their concerns away. "I'd just give that present to myself, then. Don't let the ones gunning for you dictate how you live your life, Six. Now come on, let's pick out something new and shiny for your gun cabinet up in the Lucky 38. My treat."
Veronica Santangelo: "Six!" Veronica squealed and did a little dance. "Happy birthday! Oh my goodness, there's so much to do, we need to round everybody up, we need to go book a table at the Gourmand, we need to-"
She stopped when she caught the courier biting their lip. "Orrrr we could not do any of that. Whatever you like, it's your birthday."
"Can we just... I don't know." The courier shuffled their feet in the dust. "My life has been kind of crazy lately, and the people on the Strip won't leave me alone if I show my face in one of the casinos. I went up to the cocktail lounge in the Lucky 38 last night and pushed some tables together. I think we can fit everyone, even if the Securitrons will have to squeeze around us to serve drinks."
Veronica's smile returned. "Okay. Yeah, that'll work. But I don't know what kind of food House has in his pantry, nowadays."
The courier answered by holding the cactus fruit up. "This'll help."
"That's not nearly enough." Veronica looked around the marketplace. "Stay put. I'm going to go find some of those kids chasing rats. They'll probably help us carry some groceries back to the Lucky 38 for a few caps."
ED-E: The courier's eyebot bobbed and beeped quizzically, as if unfamiliar with the term.
"Um, how do I..." The courier wracked their brains. "Today is the anniversary of my... creation. My assembly."
ED-E blipped a few times in quick succession, surprised.
"No, no, that's not- no." The courier shook their head. "How do you know what that is, but not understand what a birthday is? Today is the day I came out of my mom, ED-E."
The eyebot blatted understanding and disgust, as if displeased with the mechanics of biology. The courier laughed. "Well, that's what it is. Yes, I know, humans are strange, and no, I don't know why it's important. It just is. Come on, let's go hand these out to those kids we saw earlier."
Rex: Rex cocked his head to the side, tongue lolling happily. A cactus fruit escaped the courier's arms and fell to the ground, but the cyberdog gently picked it up again and offered it to his companion.
The courier smiled down at him. "Thanks, Rex. Let's go see if the King has any more refugees in need of a meal."

Como la flor. (Seven brothers Gn!MC)
In my childhood, there was always the song of our Queen Selena, literally in every party and I WOULD DANCE even at my 4 years I was on fire! Creating this headcanon is like going back to my lovely childhood and times before covid-19.
As usually I´ll leave the url right here for the song! (https://youtu.be/FwZTgDjRLM0) We can´t have our Queen without the dance, so Cumbia and Selena headcanon? HECK YAS.
[The brothers went to the human realm for another party, after the Piñata accident they decided to have a little break from MC´s family and friends, until today… the story may not be the same, or it might? After the meal, it started once again… Cumbia, Selena and the Mc wanting to dance?!]
Warnings! There´s gonna be a LOT of reference from my “Piñata” headcanon, if you haven´t read it yet, please go and read it first.
Lucifer.
This demon and I could swear he knows how to dance every single type of music. I do not have the proves but I don´t have doubts. When the Dj came into scene, Lucifer saw a strange bright in your eyes, and that would only mean problems… the music was way to loud, and not having you next to him was making the situation unbearable, you only came back a few times to the table for some water or coke. Until it started, you ran as fast as you could (Darling, I´m impressed that you could run with those heels of yours). Luci only saw you with amusement, when you basically took his hand and brought him into the dance floor. “Como la flor…con tanto amor” Happines was all over your face.  After the song your aunts wouldn´t let him go… he dances for the rest of the party and some of your aunts were ready for a weeding. “MC, darling, please bring that handsome friend of yours to the XV birthday party for your cousin. He will be the perfect Chambelan.”
Mammon.
Mamon don´t know what´s happening but he likes it!! Mc´s aunts are teaching him how to dance properly (he is a potato while dancing). The cousins of Mc, are having a great time teaching him how to speak Spanish properly, the lights and the music reminds him to a casino and he likes it. Suddenly it started, the aunts grabbed their husbands, the cousins sat in the nearest table and finally he went to find you. “Mc… ¿Te gustaría bailar?” He spent 1 hour only he could ask you the question.  He enjoyed the music of Selena, and seeing you eyes sparkle while dancing (with a potato) made his heart all crazy. After that he will put Selena in the speakers of the house of lamentation so he could see the sparkles once again.
Levi.
He hates here. It´s way too loud, and really crowded, and his best friend felt asleep, his otaku friends just stare at him, telling nicely that he should take you out into the dance floor, and even as an otaku they know how to dance cumbia (It´s kindergarten obligatory curriculum jk)  he knew your hype for Selena Quintanilla, and when it started the song he glup his guts back to their natural position and with a blush in his face he search you in the dance floor, he took your hand and stayed like a wall while you dance, don´t be rude with him, he´s trying his very best so you could be happy.
Satan.
I shall stay by your side or die in the attempt; he will be talking with the drunk uncles until their wives take them one by one to dance with them. He is confused, he read a lot of books with dance scene so he knows what to expect or so that´s what he thinks. He is watching everyone dancing and he gets a little uncomfortable and angry because he sees you dancing with the best friend of one of your cousins, so he stands up and go straight to you. He will protect you and dance with you until all your suitors disappears. He is listening to the music and grabbed your waist, he knows how much you love your Queen, and he shall dance the song with you, he can tell how much you´re enjoying it, and in his mind, there is no book that could compare the scene in front of his eyes.
Asmo.
Dancing demon. Happy dancing demon, he moves like a Latin, he has the passion burning through his eyes, the energy of a 10 years old and most important, he has the attention of his dearest human! He won´t let you sit down, no matter what, he will stare at all the persons that aren´t link with you by blood and will kill them with one stare. Asmo is known for being a party demon, so he can dance about everything (I have the idea that just like Lucifer he knows how to dance everything). He is singing with you, even if he doesn´t have the perfect pronunciation or he doesn´t know what the lyrics says he will be singing with you. When the first sound of the song started, he looked at you and once again he just adores you (not as much as he adores himself but really close). The took your hips and started to dance with you, after the party he will be really happy and will make you dance with him a lot.
Beel.
First of all… Your grandmas love him, he is winning territory with the heads of your family, that only meant that your grandpas also likes him (if you win the heart of a Latin granny you have the rest of the family in the bag, and I´m not joking) both of your grandmothers know everything about you, and they tell Beel everything that they know, even what you did years ago when you were just a child beating the crap out of your cousins, and the best part of all is that he listens to them so he can know you better. Suddenly one of your grandmas took his hand and made him stand up the seat so he could dance with you, “No necesitas pasarte todo el día con nosotras, disfruta a Mc”. You look at him with eyes that are brighter than stars, he kinda didn´t heard your scream for the song, because for him you are the loveliest person around. And also… the music was way too loud.
Belphie.
As Latins we have this special ability that other humans don´t, and I´m not talking about cutting avocado/palta perfectly I am talking about… the ability of sleeping everywhere, next to a giant speaker, with a bunch of electro lights, smoke, fire, gun sh**ts and more (But not the light of a light bulb), and Belphie got the ability, he saw how the children would put together some chairs, they would use their mothers’ purse as pillow and their fathers coat as blanket, and he did the same thing. He was having the most beautiful dream, until Selena (Our queen) started, in a millisecond he woke up and started to search you. When he founds you, you´re enjoying yourself so hard that for a moment he forgot that he wasn´t sleeping and that this wasn´t a dream.
 Let´s learn some Spanish.
Chambelan. = Young man accompanying a girl in celebration of her fifteenth birthday
“Como la flor…con tanto amor= Like the flower, with so much love.
“No necesitas pasarte todo el día con nosotras, disfruta a Mc”= You don´t need to stay with us   all day, go, enjoy the MC.
“Mc… ¿Te gustaría bailar?”  = Would you like to dance?

Okay, @peoniequeen, here are your stories.
How many people do you know moved across the world for love?
Well, you all know about this one. I met my late wife online in late 1998 on an X-Files message board, we emailed and then called, etc. until she came to the U.S. from Finland in September of 1999 to live with me for a year. After the year was up we relocated to Finland, in part because she could not legally immigrate to the U.S. during that time as a same-sex partner (Finland was a huge fucking pain in the ass about it but eventually they let me immigrate there based on our relationship status) and in part because we thought Finland would be a better place to raise kids due to healthcare, schools, etc. When I arrived in Finland it was the first time I had even been to Europe, never mind the country I was going to live in and the airline accidently left my two dogs in Amsterdam instead of putting them on the plane to Helsinki and I spent my first moments in my new home sobbing about my dogs until the very nice airline lady called for my late wife over the loudspeaker and let her come back and take me in hand (much the way Mako takes Wu in hand, if you must know). (Don’t worry, the airline put us up in a hotel next to the airport and the dogs came on the next flight and came to us there in a taxi the airline made arrangements for. They were completely fine and in fact weren’t sure what the fuss was about.) It was kind of a big culture shock. The end.
Or worked as a college radio DJ?
I did! I had a show on Tuesday mornings from 4-6 am that nobody listened to but about 10 loyal people. (Kind of like my blog here, come to think about it.) I played a lot of old blues and jazz stuff that I’d grown up listening to. My Dad worked part time as a DJ at a local radio station so I knew how to work all the equipment and such thanks to him. (I also had a two hour slot on Wednesday nights there in high school where I played stuff teenagers wanted to listen to and not the never ending country western that the station owner and manager wanted played 24x7.) Yes, this was in the late 80′s-early 90′s when I was at university so it was all vinyl. I still have a collection of albums that have the gold stamp on them saying they are not for sale, that they are for radio station play only! (Some of them the aforementioned station manager gave me since they were not country and he was basically going to toss them into the trash and some of them were albums that I might have gotten through less altruistic means.)
Or was a makeup assistant to Drag Queens?
I took a stage makeup course while I was majoring in theater at University and did so well with it that the guy who gave the class asked me to come and assist him at the San Francisco opera while they were essentially painting all of the singers brown in a classic racist move that was pretty well accepted in the 90′s but, thankfully, would be extremely frowned upon now. As I was doing it I struck up a friendship with one of the chorus tenors; it turned out he was a drag queen who sometimes did performances when he wasn’t doing opera. He was a Madonna impersonator (not a very good one, sorry to say) and he wanted me to help him design his makeup for it. So I went to the club he performed at a few times to get a better feel for how drag queens worked and then hung around backstage and ended up doing some designs for some of the other queens. The pay was basically me getting to see their performances for free and getting fed afterwards at whatever was open at 4 am but God it was fun. Also, now I am the most Judgy McJudgerson of ever when it comes to drag makeup on RuPaul’s Drag Race. The end.
Or wrote a letter to their Archbishop when they were twelve and got a personal answer in return?
I was very put out by the fact that boys could be altar boys but girls got shit (I was Catholic, in case you haven’t guessed) and I was talking about it to my Grandma one time and she told me I should write a letter to the Archbishop and ask him why. Now see, my maternal Grandmother was married to a labor union president (my grandfather was still the president when he died of a heart attack when I was 8) and she was a good old fashioned liberal rabble rouser. Like, she got arrested with nuns protesting nuclear power plants in her muumuus and Birkenstocks, okay? She wrote letters to EVERYONE. So I sat down and very carefully wrote the letter and my Grandma made a few calls and got me the address and we sent the letter. I don’t think my Grandma actually thought I’d get a letter back (it was more of a teaching moment, if that makes sense) but he did send me a letter back! He was very kind, although his answer was the usual Catholic BS. I still have the letter but it is packed away in storage so I very sadly will not be producing it at this juncture in time.
Or drove from Los Angeles to Philadelphia in a 20 year old Volvo?
My friend from university was going to Grad School at Temple University and her parents didn’t want her to drive the entire way by herself. So I drove with her in an orange 1971 Volvo sedan. (In fact, I drove about 90% of the trip because she didn’t like driving.) The air conditioning fan died as we were driving through the Mojave Desert on the way to Vegas and I realized that if I floored it the cool air would actually move itself and so I floored it all the way through the desert and we are lucky that fucking ancient hulk of Swedish steel did not die and leave us stranded to be baked to death. We stopped in Vegas (which was not as impressive in 1992 as it is today, trust me) and found a guy who could actually fix the fan and spent the night in one of the casino hotels before continuing on. We did stop in Chicago to stay with her grandparents for two weeks (where so many elderly Jews kept responding to my last name with confusion as they assumed I was Jewish that I eventually started to do genealogy and found out that I am, indeed, Jewish on my father’s side) and also we saw the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer film in Des Moines and went to a cowboy bar in Cheyenne (I learned how to line dance and my friend got completely trashed and I had to practically carry her back to the hotel) and many other adventures until we finally arrived in Philly and her parents flew me back to California. It was a great road trip and short of the reeeaaaally sketchy and filthy motel room in Salt Lake City that had both a half-empty Chinese takeout box and a soiled condom under the bed we had a grand time.
Or was part of a thruple?
I have been part of two thruples. Well. Sort of. One thruple and one wanna be thruple. The first one, with my first husband and my girlfriend was a huge mistake from the get-go. (Oh god, she was so hot and the sex was so fucking good but she was really an awful person and my ex kept trying to control the entire thing and basically forced her into living with us instead of being just my girlfriend with benefits and the entire thing blew up and while it wasn’t the reason why I divorced him it didn’t help either.) The second one was with my late wife and our mutual boyfriend and it worked very well but he had a little boy from a former relationship and his son got very ill and died and he didn’t handle it at all and he disappeared out of our lives. It’s been 20 years, give or take, since I’ve talked to him. He asked us to no longer contact him and I’ve always respected that. And before you ask, he knows where I live and my email address is the same as it was all those years ago. If he wanted to find me it would be very easy for him to do so. He clearly doesn’t and I respect that. I wish him love and peace, wherever he is. I miss him still.
Or beat up the drunk lady in the hallway to get back a little girl’s keys?
Ah, I’ll tell this one tomorrow.

Smoke and Mirrors (Detective!Smoker x Reader) PART 5
Fem!Reader
~
Tumblr media
“So what do you think?”
Smoker turned to Tashigi as they exited Law’s room half an hour later. She had a faraway look in her eyes and Smoker had to repeat his question a few times before she finally seemed to realise he was talking to her.
“Sorry, what?”
“I said, what do you think of him?” Smoker jerked his thumb in the direction of Room 444.
“Oh.” Her cheeks were pink. “I don’t know, he doesn’t really seem like a murderer to me.”
Smoker raised an eyebrow. “Did you miss the ‘DEATH’ tattooed across his knuckles or were you too preoccupied with his face?”
She flushed harder. “Of course not. I just mean, well, it’s all part of the act isn’t it? And who are you to talk, don’t think I don’t catch you ogling Miss [Last Name] every time we run into her.”
Smoker grunted. “That’s my problem with these stage magicians. It’s all an act, an illusion. So how the hell are we supposed to sort out the truth from all the smoke and mirrors?” He chose to ignore her last comment.
“Our next witness might be able to help with that.”
“Is he another magician?”
“A DJ, actually.”
Smoker groaned. “Even worse.”
“Do you want me to take point on this one?”
“Please.”
DJ Scratchmen Apoo turned out to be exactly the type Smoker had been expecting—loud, eccentric, and over-confident. He gladly sat back in his chair and watched Tashigi interview the guy while he let his mind wander.
Once again, he found it inadvertently wandering to [Name]. He still couldn’t quite get a read on her. Vegas was a city of performers, whether one meant to be or not. Everyone here was putting on a face, an act, an illusion. It made it difficult to tell when someone was genuine or not. It was part of the reason why he had taken the detective job here. Smoker enjoyed figuring people out and he’d never wanted to figure out anyone quite as much as her.
Then, the sound of her name pulled him from his thoughts.
“Yeah, that assistant of his—[Name] or whatever.”
“What about her?” Smoker leaned forward suddenly and Apoo started.
“Her and Hawkins, man. They were arguin’ about somethin’ backstage before the show. I heard ‘em when I was settin’ up the lighting.”
“What did they argue about?” Smoker ignored the look Tashigi was giving him. This was the second time today her name had come up in interrogations and it was starting to give him a bad feeling.
“I dunno, man, I didn’t hear all of it. Somethin’ about money?”
“Can you be more specific?”
Apoo was now leaning back in his chair in an attempt to get further away from Smoker’s questioning glare.
“I told you, man, I didn’t hear it all. I just remember her saying somethin’ about all the money he owed.”
“Hawkins owed someone money? Do you know who?”
“No clue, man. Everyone and their grandma owes money to someone around here.”
Smoker sat back heavily in his seat. He watched the bustle of hotel staff and police officers scurrying across the lobby but he wasn’t really seeing them. He turned back to Apoo.
“Did you see anyone else backstage? Anyone eavesdropping or acting otherwise suspicious?”
Apoo shook his head, his long plait waving back and forth behind him. “Naw, man, just the regular crowd. Everyone’s too busy to just stand around before a show.”
Smoker grunted. He took the cigar from his pocket again and placed it between his teeth, but didn’t light it, only chewed the end thoughtfully. Beside him, Tashigi was scribbling furiously in her notepad. He honestly didn’t know what he’d do without her.
Something about the DJ’s account troubled him. If Hawkins really had been one of the top performers in all of Vegas, he could hardly have been living in poverty. He had been staying at the Rain Dinners Hotel for one thing, which, for all its tacky glamour could hardly be considered cheap. How much money would someone of his calibre need to borrow that he couldn’t pay it back? Why would someone who by all accounts had millions, need to borrow money in the first place? Smoker shuddered at the thought. His job paid reasonably well, but he simply could not fathom the sheer numbers these Vegas performers raked in.
He almost inhaled his whole cigar when the sound of gunshots rang from outside the hotel. There was the shattering of glass, the screeching of tires on hot tarmac and then a long, high scream. Smoker’s chair crashed to the floor and he and Tashigi hurtled across the lobby, shoving aside the panicked staff and confused citizens in their haste. They drew their guns as they exited into the sweltering heat of the dying day and Smoker caught a glimpse of a black car tearing down the street away from the Rain Dinners. He took aim and sent two shots after it, but the driver swerved to avoid them and before Smoker could shoot again, it was around the corner and out of sight. Smoker gestured to the nearest patrol officers to give chase and they jumped to obey, lights and siren blaring.
Tashigi nudged his arm. He looked around and found her stooped low, examining something glittering on the pavement. He holstered his gun and crouched down for a closer look. The broken glass shimmered in the fading sunlight and the neon glow of the bars and casinos opening up for the night. He looked up to where a window on the second floor stood broken, the torn white curtains limp and lifeless in a non-existent breeze.
His heart felt as if it had stopped. He swallowed.
“That’s Miss [Last Name]’s room.”

Best of 2018
I fully intended to carry on doing monthly charts this year, but each month it went way too late & I just gave up in the end. Couldn’t not do an end of year one though. Bad year here in real life (again), for various reasons. I kept listening to stuff, but perhaps not with my usual enthusiasm for several months in the middle. Still some great stuff, as ever, of course, & I think this is a pretty hot list, the usual mixture of serious contenders & goofy bits n bats. I’ve included reissues if they’re comps or issued with extras.
  1)     Let’s Eat Grandma - Hot Pink (Transgressive) - extremely moreish single, produced by SOPHIE.
  2)     Let’s Eat Grandma - It’s Not Just Me (Transgressive) – another SOPHIE-touched piece, this one more 80s-tastic.
  3)     v/a - Strictly Rhythm Underground 90-97 TCD (E Archive) – was always a bit wavery over Strictly, with tastefulness on one side & cheese on the other, but Bill Brewster dug out a peerless selection here, barely any fat at all.
  4)     Soft Cell – Keychains & Snowstorms 9CD Boxset (Mercury) – too many versions of the same tracks, but practically everything is here, including illuminating obscurities. What a group!
  5)     Ceramic Hobs – Black Pool Legacy DLP (Harbinger Sound) – wonderful to see this happen, & so well done – track selection, mastering, sleeve art & liner notes all excellent.
  6)     Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids – An Angel Fell CD (Strut) – lovely straight-up cosmic jazz album. I’ve not really been following all the new jazz stuff, but this did seem to epitomise it.
  7)     R Kelly – I Admit It (YouTube) – obviously a deeply reprehensible human being, but his music still (sporadically) transfixes me. A 19 minute trap beat, autotuned (which I usually hate), with the musical equivalent of OJ Simpson’s (If) I Did It dumped on top. Gobsmacking audacity, but a fascinating piece of self-denial.
  8)     Flying Lotus feat Busdriver – Ain’t No Coming Back (from Brainfeeder X comp) – Brainfeeder skates between bland & astonishing. Here, rapper Busdriver acts as jazz narrator.
  9)     Espen Lauritzen – Cid B (Fiedeltwo, from Appendix Double Mixpack EP) – bludgeoning acid techno, from a great compilation. Just discovered it’s originally from 2014, but…whatever.
  10)  DJ Taye – Roxxanneee (from Teklife VIP 2019 bundle) – late entry: footwork-style Police rework.
  11)  BCUC – Emakhosini CD (Buda Musique) – great (& mildly bonkers) long-form South African tuneage.
  12)  v/a - For Discos Only TCD (Craft) – had to pull out of doing a piece on this, but it’s great anyway…prime long disco mixes from Fantasy & Vanguard. Hands-down classics from the Blackbyrds and Sylvester; production jobs from Roy Thode, Shep Pettibone, Bobby Orlando, Patrick Adams and Patrick Cowley; and endless Mecca, Casino, Loft, Paradise Garage, Warehouse and Music Box tunes.
  13)  Hilary Woods – Colt CD (Sacred Bones) – I can be a little suspicious of overly adult work, but this one made me ashamed in the presence of its dignity & maturity. A real grower, well worthy of investigation, & virtually out of nowhere.
  14)  El Chombo feat Cutty Ranks – Dame Tu Cosita (Ultra) – not the first tune to worm its way into my head care of those daft dance challenge videos, but one can hardly argue with a rerub of an obscure reggaeton tune, featuring Cutty Ranks.
  15)  SOPHIE – Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides album (Transgressive) – pop’s cutting edge?!
  16)  v/a – The Man From Mo’Wax (Mo’Wax) – funny and not entirely wrong slating for this/Lavelle in the Wire, but there’s a whole stack of great tunes here, & some of the ones I rolled my eyes at at the time sound pretty smart now.
  17)  Let’s Eat Grandma - Falling Into Me (Transgressive) – not got quite the edge of the SOPHIE ones, but still very high quality pop. I’ve selected tracks rather than just the album, as I think the quality doesn’t hold up over the whole thing; the good ones are really good though.
  18)  Chrissy – Resilience bundle (Chiwax) – Chrissy Murderbot goes pretty faithfully old skool rave.
  19)  Akito – Gone Again album (Tight Knit) – the offbeat grime stuff seems to have dropped out of fashion, but I still like it. Impressively high quality collection of it here.
  20)  Will Saul - Inside Out (Aus Music) – don’t listen to enough mixes these days, but this one covered all bases early in the year.
A special mention for the Mansur Brown album. I’ll admit that I snorted with derision at the promo sheet stuff about Jimi Hendrix-meets-trap, but…it wasn’t far from the truth. Intriguing stuff…
And a new feature, which I should have been doing for years now…
  Promo trends…
Still a lot of alt pop coming through, mostly pretty bland. Seems to be angling mostly towards dream pop and synthpop now.
So much ambient music (coming from all angles), that it’s getting ridiculous. Post-classical as well. I was initially pleased to see the revival, but, honestly, do something else now…
Breaks revival now looking like a ‘thing’ (I suppose I would know if I was in any clubs these days)…with the ex-dubsteppers clearly now having rinsed out…
Techno, of all kinds. I get sent so much of this it’s staggering, but I’m not complaining, as it’s often very good.
Plenty of deep house around as well, although not as impressively weird as some of the stuff from recent years.
Much of the guitar stuff I get sent is risible, but there’s obviously a cartload of that as well, as ever. I can discern a reasonable amount of post-metal stuff now as well, and I don’t get sent much metal. That stuff is…OK.
  Witch house slight return?

Copper Country News | First Friday, luminarias kick off Globe-Miami holiday season
Globe-Miami has so much fun in store over the next month – from First Friday and the 33rd Annual Festival of Lights at Besh Ba Gowah, Dec. 3-4, to Miami’s afternoon three-block party on Sullivan Street preceding Globe’s big Light Parade, Dec. 11. We will list helpful reminders of these and other public events around our communities. And if we’ve missed yours? Please email all the details to [email protected] to be considered for inclusion on this list. Here’s a synopsis of coming events:
* Dec. 3 First Friday on Broad Street Extended hours until 8 p.m. for holiday shopping in unique downtown stores, Christmas Karaoke hosted by X92.7’s DJ Shon, our growing food truck court, special discounts and unique menu items at participating stores and downtown restaurants. Find food trucks in the Old Dominion Parking Lot (corner of Broad and Sycamore Streets), along with vendors ranging from makers and bakers to artists. Our First Friday Classic Car Cruise returns, ending with a car show near the Historic Train Depot. Any business, vendor or food truck operator interested in participating in this free monthly event is welcome to call or text Melissa Steele at 928-200-0836, or email [email protected]
* Dec. 4 Festival of Lights, Besh Ba Gowah Archaeological Park and Museum 5 – 9 p.m. One of Globe’s signature holiday season events, now in its 33rd year, this lovely night features 4,000 luminarias atop the rebuilt walls of this ancient pueblo. This popular Christmastime event includes outdoor cultural presentations, food and craft vendors. Free admission. Non-perishable food donations are appreciated to help support the Gila Community Food Bank. Please note that parking is limited; it’s much better to park in downtown Globe and ride the free shuttle service that continues all evening from the Historic Train Depot at 230 S. Broad St. in Globe.
* Dec. 10 Salute to Cattle Ranching Dinner, Dance & Auction Friday evening at the Apache Gold Casino. Tickets are just $35 per person, which includes a ribeye steak dinner and dancing to live music by Bob Bigando & the Tumbleweeds. No-host cocktails at 4 p.m., dinner at 5:30 p.m. and live auction follows. Space is limited. Tickets can be purchased from the Globe-Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce, (928)425-4495.
* Dec. 11 Downtown Miami three-block party Saturday afternoon on Sullivan Street from 1 – 5 p.m. (vendor setup from 12-1, event open to the public 1-4). Get your Sonoran hotdog fix from Gordo’s or a pulled pork plate from The Lunchbox while DJ Dacite Services provides music from classics to modern pop and country. Thoughtfully timed as a holiday season event on the afternoon leading into Globe’s big Christmas Light Parade, Sullivan Street downtown will be closed to motor vehicle traffic – allowing guests a safe place to walk, rollerblade, skateboard, create chalk art, dance, picnic, set up lawn chairs and enjoy street vendors, food trucks and live music. There is no vendor fee to set up and sell. Vendors are welcome to sign up, all that’s required is to complete and return a vendor application form in advance. To obtain one, email Phil Stewart at [email protected], or call or text (480) 993-8611. Bring cash and your appetite, too! Food vendors include Gordo’s Sonoran Hotdogs, The Lunchbox, and the irresistible aroma of caramelized, just-slightly-and-oh-so-perfectly- burnt sugar wafting from Deb Yerkovich’s Cotton Candy Kids cart. Local restaurants will be open, too: Guayos El Rey, Burger House, and Jilbertos. Wild Horses Saloon will offer cold beer, creative cocktails and one-of-a-kind ambiance. Stop by the Jim Coates Gallery for a mix of art, homemade pastries or an artisan cup of cappuccino or hot chocolate. Check out unique stores such as Grandma’s Antiques, Miami Mercantile, Miami Rose, Stewart’s Antique Nook, My Mom’s House DZynes and Michael 23’s art galleries across from Miami Town Hall.
* Dec. 11 Read-On Express Saturday Old Train Depot on Broad Street in Globe from 12 – 4 p.m., with a new book for every child who attends – plus fun holiday season activities, even a train ride around the Old Train Depot property not to be missed! Many partners and volunteers collaborate to plan this event and make it a success; if your agency would like to participate, sponsor or have a booth at this event please email [email protected] or call Julie Craig at (928) 961-0426.
* Dec. 11 Globe Christmas Light Parade Saturday night at 6 p.m. Theme for this year’s parade is “Best Christmas Toys Ever.” Entry deadline is Dec. 8; make sure to get your application in for this big event co-sponsored by the Globe Downtown Association and City of Globe. Parade begins at 6 p.m., staging east of the historic district, starting near Globe Public Library and proceeding west on Broad Street all the way to Yuma Street. Come early to browse downtown stores and enjoy hot coffee, cocoa, fudge and more. Stroll through downtown to vote for your favorite window display, listen to carolers, enjoy the amazing musical talents on the CVCA bandstand and wait to see Santa himself at the end of the evening parade. Get parade applications at Cobre Valley Center for the Arts, Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, and the law office above CVS Pharmacy, or drop in the front-door mail slot at the 1910 Jail on Oak St. Entry deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. For more information, contact parade chair Willy Thomas at 928-200-5646; [email protected]; the GDA Office, 928-425-8111; the CVCA desk, 928-425-0884; or text/call GDA Mgr. Positivity is wonderful :) i have a weird question, i have no ability to see tlj because i have to take care of my ailing grandma, when you see it could you give me a full synopsis? I would be very grateful :)
STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!!!! PLS LEAVE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE I AM BASICLY WRITING THE WHOLE MOVIE DOWN!!!!!
Alright so maybe I can forget some stuff or be not as accurate but I’ll try my best. Besides, you can read more here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Episode_VIII_The_Last_Jedi
Alright so it starts with The Resistance evacuating their main base. Leia is among them. Their ships jump into hyperspace but the First Order follows them. Poe flies a ship with BB-8 and take the main canons down of one of the Stardestroyers. He gets shot and loses his weapons but they get repaired by BB-8 by bashing his head into wires or something lol it was funny. Leia orders him to return but Poe won’t give up and takes the last one down. Now the Resistance can sent bombers but they all get destroyed by the First Order except for one. Paige Tico is able to drop her bombs with struggle but dies in the explosion, we see her touching a necklace as her last moments. They flee but they are being tracked even THROUGH LIGHTSPEED. A long pursuit begins and the little Resistance ships get taken down one by one. The First Order comes closer and closer but the Resistance have to go on, they’re fuel is almost down and they are only able to do one more lightspeed that has NO USE BECAUSE THE FO CAN TRACK THEM THROUGH IT. During one battle Kylo Ren pilots a ship and feels his mother Leia in the big ship. He has the chance to shoot her down but he doesn’t, he can’t do it. But then two other FO ships shoot where she is and there is a huge explosion. Leia is presumed dead but we see a BEAUTIFUL shot of her in space. At first it looks like she won’t make it but her fingers twitch and her eyes open. She reaches out to the ship and uses the force to pull her back to savety. (Gosh this was one of my favorite parts it was SO SUSPENSFUL but our beautiful princess and general made it because she is so badass I cried). But she is unconcious and someone else needs to take over her leadership because all the others (like admiral ackbar) died. This is the job of admiral Amilyn Holdo. She won’t tell a plan however and Poe is sceptical. Holdo doesn’t trust him and says he’s dangerous and practicly uses his position  (because he got demoted for not following Leia’s order) to demean him and have him leave her alone. -During the fleeing Finn has woken up with a scream “REY!”. He walks around confused and worried in equipment that’s supposed to protect him and it’s leaking everywhere but it’s not bothering him because he’s searching for Rey. Poe finds him and says “You must have many questions”. But Finn responds with only one: “Where’s Rey?”. Finn gets dressed and meets Leia who shows him a tracker that she and Rey both have. Rey can always find her way back. Finn is pleased. Then when the Resistance finds out the First Order can track them and it’s only time before they get caughtand after Leia is unconcious and Holdo is in command, Finn takes the tracker and prepares to get an escape pod so he can go to a save  place where Rey can find him otherwise she’d get killed too if Rey would find the Resistance instead. This is when we meet Rose Tico. She’s crying and holding a matching necklace we saw Paige have too. She notices Finn and follows him. The two meet and she, while her face are still in tears is excited to see him. She tells him that he’s a hero and she can barely believe she’s talking to a real Resistance hero. (or that she’s talking because she’s just behind pipes all day according to her) She tells him more stuff like that her sisters gone and that there are cowards that wanted to run that she stunned (NOT entirely sure if I got that right could be something else but this is basicly a hint that she has a stun gun and that she really does not appreciate people that run away) I found this really cute because shes so excited because FINN !! Hes a hero! But Finn is slightly awkward because he’s trying to hide his stuff that he’s gonna escape with. But it’s good to see that Finn has actually become A Big Deal (reference to TFA) in the resistance and how Rose excitedly reacts to meeting him. Then it goes from cute to NOOO. Rose notices the stuff and figures out he’s trying to escape. She stuns him and when he wakes (barely being able to move due to the stun) she’s taking him to turn him in. When Finn came to, he tried to convince her that he was not merely a deserter but was trying to warn his friend of the direness of the Resistance’s situation, pointing out the fact that the Raddus would be tracked by the First Order through hyperspace, chasing them down until they ran out of fuel and they were destroyed.Rose realized that the First Order must be using a tracking device aboard the Supremacy. With Rose’s knowledge of mechanics and Finn’s knowledge of First Order ships, the two devised a plan to shut down the tracking device and allow the Raddus to escape into hyperspace. They informed Poe Dameron of their plan to infiltrate the Supremacy, although they do not know how to decrypt the ship’s computer codes to be able to gain access to the ship itself. Dameron made a call to Maz Kanata, who referred them to a “master codebreaker” that they would be able to find on Cantonica. (I literally copied this from wiki lmao) Poe stays behind for when they finish and he can get the fleet to use the last lightspeed. Rose and Finn go to a casino on Canto Bight. It’s full of rich people and looks beautiful. Finn is enjoying himself, but Rose seems less happy. Finn wonders why and she shows him to look closer. They’re watching horseraces (the horses being a new star wars species ‘‘fathiers’‘) but then they see the fathiers are being abused and have children caretakers. I think Rose mentioned she and Paige worked their as kids too? They get caught by police and thrown out because they parked their ship somewhere where it isn’t allowed lmao. They lost the hacker. In the prison they meet a guy named DJ who mentiones he can do it too. They don’t trust him and plan to escape. DJ simply opens the door with some kind of card thingy and walks out. The duo is flabbergasted and flee too. DJ meets BB-8 who p much took all the police down by shooting money at them PFffbfb.
iM SORRY I DIDNT GET MUCH FURTHER THAN THIS I HOPE UR GRANDMA IS BETTER I tried my best but now its some time after the movie and idk if i can remember everything. BUt Im sure theres more stuff on google or something.
here’s a link to a summary/review with peoples opinions and stuff also I think if you search on google you can find some other stuff. I havent read it tho hahah just scanned it:
