self care based on your chart
I talked about the signs and houses connection to body parts and many of you requested this post. These are ways to do your self-care using your chart, the signs, and planetary placements and aspects. The same concept can be applied using simple self-love practices in other areas of life too.
✧ notes
I recommend you look at your transits chart or solar return as well to better know the best self-care practices at the time. You can base your general self-care on your natal chart but the transits can tell you the best times to take action or avoid taking action on something significant.
Look for the planets placements and their aspects, mainly if in the angular houses or make many significant aspects. Like I mentioned before I got so much dental work done when saturn was in the 10th, conjunct my mc and opposite north node, it was expensive but I was able to afford it.
You can also consider the degrees if you're feeling extra, in your natal chart and your solar return. Degrees can be associated with signs, so they can be simply linked to the areas they rule.
Planets rule things related to body parts like diseases or accidents and influence certain parts of the body depending on the aspects they make. Also two planets can influence the same body parts.
✧ SIGNS
Aries/1st house - head, face, brain, eyes
— Prone to headaches so get quality sleep, wash your hair often, and do wash your makeup, nothing heavy on the head. Exercise and workout in general helps release any pent-up energy or stress. — Can also be spacey and future focused so any self expression activities can help that energy flow. Choose foods that help maintain your body fluid balance, water-rich foods, leafy veggies, omega 3 rich foods, and supplements that boost lymphatic drainage. Avoid foods that drain your lymphatic system. Find hobbies that light you up, listen to music, paint, be creative. Nature walks, swimming, cardio, cycling, dancing. Taking frequent baths and soaking your feet in soap and epsom salt water can release stress from the feet area, grounding activities, reflecting, journaling and writing down your hopes and thoughts.
✧ PLANETS

2024 | Goals + Expectations
This blog will be used to keep me motivated throughout the year and keep track of everything I am doing as a way to track my progress. My main focus will be on building my career + finishing school but I will also make posts about my hair growth journey and improving my thyroid health.
Goals and Expectations for 2024:
Career
I am interning on Capitol Hill this summer. I am hopeful that this internship can lead to a job in Washington, D.C. I am also looking for a spring internship. I have interviewed for 3 positions so far, so hopefully something will come from that. If finding a career in political science is something that interests you, I recommend following me so we can struggle together lol.
Academia
I have two conference presentations this semester, hopefully I can get my research published by the end of 2024.
I plan to take the LSAT in November of 2024 (after they remove the logic games portion). I don't plan to apply to law school in 2024 as I would like to take a 2-year gap year and apply in 2025 (then attend in 2026). I do want to get it out of the way early since LSAT scores are good for 5 years. I also feel like 11 months of consistent studying is enough to get a 170+. If studying for the LSAT interests anyone then maybe we can form a study group. I will probably be posting studyspo for the LSATs and for school.
Health + Wellness + Hair Growth
I'd like to get healthier. Not to look better, but because I'd like to improve my thyroid health, improve my nails and hair, and just feel much better about myself. For hair I plan to keep using argan and coconut-based shampoo and conditioner and I also want to start oiling my hair. I also need to sleep in protective hair styles more. For my thyroid, I want to start eating more thyroid superfoods and cooking more. I also want to do 3 low impact workouts a week.
General Life
I want to try more hobbies and experience life a bit more. I also want to start reading more and cutting down on the time I spend on social media, or at least making my feeds more positive and educational.

BRODY STEVENS | Mackenzie's fiancé.
warning: unsanitary tw, death tw, murder tw
Mackenzie Ross and Brody Stevens had met on the set of Road Trippin', a romantic-comedy where they played the younger versions of the two main characters who were next door neighbors. An immediate friendship formed on set, and before long the two were hanging out when they weren't working. Over the years they had fell in and out of touch, until a project she was working on happened to be filming on the same lot.
Reconnecting with one another, Mackenzie and Brody had become closer than ever, and after a push from a mutual friend, the pair ended up dating, soon moving in with one another.
While she had stayed busy working on Dropped, Brody was taking a hiatus from acting to work on other side projects. But when word came that Mackenzie had been severely injured on set, he immediately hopped a red-eye flight back to Los Angeles to be with her. It didn't take long after that for Brody to pop the question, knowing he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, and without hesitation, Mackenzie said yes.
Within no time she was back working on the show, and Brody had ventured back on the road to pick up where he had left off; which Mackenzie had insisted after she began experiencing strange cravings and struggling with her health. If it was one thing she didn't want to do, it was to worry him more. Thankfully, she had an amazing assistant who had stayed by her side and helped her through what she was starting to realize wasn't normal.
Making the decision to leave Dropped wasn't easy, but with movie offers coming in, an opportunity to work more on her music career, and more importantly spend time with her fiancé, she left the show that had both given her everything and would take everything away.
With Brody back at her side, it had become increasingly harder to keep her secret, but somehow she managed - of course not without a few arguments, but how could he doubt the woman he loved. As for being cold and barely having a heartbeat, she made the excuse that her thyroid was off, but it wasn't one that would last forever. In fact, every time she lied, Mackenzie felt a little worse and began having doubts knowing that he deserved someone so much better, despite how much she loved him.
Another movie offer falling into her lap, Mackenzie made the choice to accept the role knowing it would put her on the east coast for a few months. And at least give her time to decide how she wanted to open up to Brody. But fate is a funny thing and has a way of stepping in when you least expect it.
It was near the end of the shoot, but with everything on her mind, Mackenzie had failed to pack sufficiently, and in a panic had called her assistant praying the woman would find a local supplier who could at least send something her way to hold her over, until she got back to Los Angeles.
The day had dragged on and with an innate hunger beginning to take over and dumbing down Mackenzie's mental capacity, she was lucky just to make it back to her apartment. But what she found, instead of an emergency supply of brains, was Brody standing in her living room with a fresh bouquet of daisies - her favorite flower and the smell of steak, which she could barely make out, cooking on the stove.
The romantic and sweet gesture was one of the last things she remembered, before attacking the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, and when she came to, the entire apartment, especially the kitchen, had looked like something out of a horror movie.
Sitting with Brody's mangled body in her lap, Mackenzie could only repeat the words "I love you" over and over again, while the only other person who knew what she was desperately tried to figure out a plan to clean up what had been a horrible accident and one Mackenzie could never forgive herself for.
Once the place was spotless and Brody's body disposed of, Mackenzie's only true ally helped write a story that she prayed Mackenzie would stick too. Everything in the young actress's life was riding on the belief that Brody had been brutally murdered and Mackenzie was a grieving widow. It was her biggest role to date, and the only role she had wished she could turn down.
With Hollywood mourning one of it's hottest young actors, Mackenzie had fled to a small east coast town that no one had ever heard of to try and save her career, reputation, and what was left of a so-called life she didn't want anymore. All while giving the media the more than legit appearance of someone who had truly lost everything.

Replacing traditional cookware and containers made from aluminum, plastic or even those coated with a non-stick finish can be hugely beneficial to both your health and the integrity of your wellbeing as such materials are known to release toxins when heated. Try replacing these items with materials that are non-toxic such as glass, ceramic, untreated wood, stainless steel, cast iron or copper cookware/utensils as these will not release toxins during the cooking process and will help reduce any potentially negative impacts on your long-term health. Making such changes takes only a few moments but the beneficial long term effects are substantial,
⚠️ Toxicity from improper cookware/utensils devastate our immune-system. They displace nutrients necessary for good health and leave toxic trace chemicals in the body. An overburdened immune system leaves the body open to attack, especially from viruses, which further breaks down the immune system.
❌ Aluminum can pass the blood-brain barrier and build up in the brain. Symptoms of aluminums toxicity are digestive system failure, neural disorders symptoms resembling Alzheimer’s disease. Research shows high concentrations of aluminum in the brain and the incidence of Alzheimer’s.
❌ Plastic Containers for food and beverages carry toxic chemical compounds, they are usually petroleum or soy based. Studies have found that certain chemicals in plastic can leach out of the plastic and into the food and beverages we eat. Some of these chemicals have been linked to health problems such as metabolic disorders (including obesity) and reduced fertility. (Endocrine disruption, which can lead to cancers, birth defects, immune system suppression and developmental problems in children.)
❌Non-stick has been linked to a frightening range of health problems including thyroid disease, infertility in women, organ damage and developmental and reproductive problems.

💌 hello angel, I hope you are well! how is life treating you?
I was hoping to ask you for some guidance, or just your blatant opinion. I’ve always admired your wisdom, your closeness to spirit and I deeply trust your willingness to answer anything to the best of your ability.
Truthfully I am seeking out other options + opinions on how I can lose weight, healthily. I know you’re well versed in the natural remedies and holistic methods by means of taking care of the body. I am mindful about my eating habits, I work a job in which I am on my feet almost all day, I work out (not as often as I used to, but enough to sate my desire); yet still I’ve gained more weight in the past few months than I’d like to admit. I’ve sought out help from my doctor, who suggests I’m perfectly healthy. I understand that my body will ever be changing and it’s normal to have almost a “second puberty” at my age. But it’s hijacked my happiness and the way that I see myself now is so distorted. I had a similar experience a couple years ago (drastic increase in weight, feeling depressed/anxious. then finally finding the drive to love and sculpt my body.) I wondered that it could be a past lesson, cycling it’s way back to reinforce something in me. This time feels different. I just feel a sort of spiritual or mental block. I want to be able to love my body enough that I can really look at myself and feel healthy, and be able to physically see the changes I’ve made.
sincerely, a woman at her wits’ end 🥺
Hi love! Sorry about this!
This is not a medical diagnosis but it might be Thyroid related. Sometimes our T3 and T4 levels can come up normal but the thyroid might still be under functioning, that is not to its optimal level. So doctors will usually brush it off / not consider it.
This can lead to stubborn weight gain, hair loss, digestive issues, skin issues, stress, anxiety, etc.
Some ways you can support your thyroid :
- Never skip breakfast, when you do you put your body under stress. Always make sure you have at least a fruit and some type of protein
- Don’t drink coffee before meals, always after. Coffee after meals can act as a thyroid booster, you just have to be properly fueled before taking it, and take it with milk/cream and a natural form of sugar
- Eat plenty of fruits
- If you can handle them, eat organ meats such as liver, they’re packed with essential minerals and nutrients - Shellfish as well
- Make sure you properly salt your meals, you need iodine
- Don’t exercise too much, when your body is already depleted/slow to function, you don’t want to further deplete your already scarce resources. Rest and do low impact movements
- Sleep well, the body restores itself at night. Cut out blue light, no screens before bed, and do a few reps of deep belly breathing
- Try to limit grains for a little bit, as well as gluten, those two are quite harsh on the system. Prioritize sourdough breads, and if you’re consuming grains soak and cook them well.
- Spore based probiotics can also be of great help if you tolerate them well, the Youtheory brand one is pretty great
And finally, I highly recommend browsing through Noelle Kovary’s instagram as she has herself recovered from thyroid issues! She gives amazing health advice.
That’s all I can think of right now! I hope it helps, please don’t hesitate to ask more questions.

These past few years, I have become a huge advocate for feeding fresh food to dogs to enhance their lives. However, you don't exactly have to transition your dog to a 100% fresh food diet in order to gain the benefits of fresh food.
Simply adding fresh food to your dog's kibble can go a long way in improving their nutrition and overall health. For instance, one study done a group of dogs in 2005 revealed that feeding vegetables just three times a week had significantly lowered their risk of developing cancer, compared to dogs who were only fed kibble.
Asian markets, in particular, have some very beneficial fresh food items that aren't typically found at your local grocery store. These food items, however, are not intended to fully replace your dog's food. Remember - too much of something good can be bad for you.
Instead, they should be offered in moderation as treats, or just small amounts topped over an already complete and balance meal. As a general rule of thumb, treats/toppers should never make more than 10% of your dog's overall diet.
Tumblr media
Bok choy (Chinese cabbage) is full of essential vitamins and minerals needed to support a dog’s eyesight, cardiac function, digestion, bone strength, and immunity. Sulfurophane - a compound found in bok choy and other cruciferous vegetables - has been linked to inhibiting cancer cell growth, lowering blood pressure, and activating the nuclear factor Nrf2 which prevents the development of diabetes and its complications. Bok choy’s low calorie, high fiber content also make it a good option for a snack/food topper for dogs who need to control their weight.
Preparation: Lightly steam or boil for better nutrient absorption. Cooking will also help neutralize the enzyme (myrosinase) that can decrease thyroid function. You should also chop/trim their long leaves to avoid choking hazards.
Tumblr media
Goji berries (wolfberries) are rich in amino acids, carotenoids which support healthy vision, and polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and cardio-protective properties. Studies on goji berry supplementation in animals have shown that it has the potential to help lower cholesterol, protect the liver by increasing hepatic antioxidant activity, as well as enhance metabolic homeostasis and prevent diabetes-induced renal inflammation.
Preparation: Remove stems if still attached and cut/mash berries. If dried, soak in water until softened to avoid passing straight through the GI tract and losing the benefits of its nutrients.
Tumblr media
Offal refers to the internal organs and variety meats of animals that can be consumed as food (i.e. lung, heart, kidney, liver, gizzard, head, feet, etc.) The word 'offal' literally translates to "fall off", and thus, whatever falls off the skeleton during the butchering process. Offal is densely loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fats - so small amounts go a long way. Pet owners who use these as ingredients as part of a complete and balanced recipe should keep in mind that each organ is unique in its nutrient profile - dependent on the animal it is sourced from and how it is raised. For example, grass-fed beef may contain less fat yet more vitamin A and E than grain-fed beef, and beef liver has significantly more vitamin A and copper than chicken liver.
Preparation: Boil in water or low-sodium broth. May also be baked or dehydrated into jerky treats.
Tumblr media
Oyster mushrooms are a good source of protein and fiber, and vitamins that support healthy digestion. They can help to increase satiety and maintain healthy body weight. Oyster mushrooms are also full of pantothenic acid which help to maintain cognitive function and healthy skin/coat. Beta-glucans derived from oyster mushrooms have also been shown to reduce inflammation and strengthen immunity.
Preparation: Lightly sauté or boil in water or low-sodium broth. Raw or dried mushrooms can be difficult for dogs to digest.
Tumblr media
Purple sweet potato (Ube or Okinawan sweet potato) are typically found in grocery stores more commonly during the fall/winter seasons. They contain more antioxidants than regular sweet potatoes due to the anthocyanins that cause their violet hue. While all potato varieties may impact blood sugar levels because of their high carbohydrate content, purple potatoes may exert less of an effect because of their high polyphenol content that decreases the absorption of starches in the intestines. In addition, they have been linked to improving blood pressure, likely due to their high potassium content.
Preparation: Peel skin and bake until soft for better digestibility and to prevent intestinal blockages. May be boiled and drained to reduce oxalate intake for dogs with a history of bladder stones, or prone to urinary issues.
Tumblr media
Quail eggs are small, yet packed with protein and essential fatty acids, and have a higher ratio of iron, riboflavin, and vitamin b12 than chicken eggs. It is even safe and can be beneficial to feed them with the shells included for added calcium. Quail eggs have been linked to improving bone growth/healing, reducing liver damage, and increasing energy levels. While some studies have shown evidence of quail eggs treating allergies in humans and mice, they may be less likely to trigger reactions than chicken eggs in dogs who have poultry sensitivities.
Preparation: Wash thoroughly, and handle gently as they are more fragile due to their tiny size. Cooking methods are similar to that of chicken eggs, yet require less time.
Tumblr media
Sardines contain all the amino acids your dog needs for optimal health, making it a "complete protein". They are also notorious for being rich in omegas and coenzyme q-10, which help support heart and brain health. What sets sardines apart from other fish, too, is that they are smaller and more short-lived species than larger predator fish and may have less of a risk for mercury poisoning. Because they are so small and have soft bones, you can feed them whole to your pets.
Preparation: Bake or dehydrate. If already purchased as dried, be sure to make sure there is no added salt or seasonings. If canned, preferably those stored in water only.
Tumblr media
Sushi rice (Japanese sticky rice) has a high proportion of starch and moisture, giving it a stickier texture when cooked. Sushi rice has virtually zero fat, yet still provides a desirable balance of nutrients while remaining gentle on a dog’s digestive tract. Its higher iron content than regular rice supports healthy blood circulation and can provide more energy to dogs who are recovering from illness. Cooling/refrigerating the rice before serving also enables more retrogradation of prebiotic fiber, helping to lower glycemic responses and maximize intestinal function.
Preparation: Rinse thoroughly and soak in water (with 1tbsp apple cider vinegar - optional) before cooking. If you don’t have a rice cooker or instant pot, boil on the stove until the water is completely absorbed. May be cooked with bone broth for added flavor. You can also use small amounts of beet root powder, turmeric, or blue spirulina to add color and nutrients.

Thyroid Diet Plan for Weight Loss | Hypothyroidism Diet Plan
Tumblr media
A well-functioning thyroid is essential for overall health and well-being. The thyroid gland plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, energy production, and even mood. When the thyroid is imbalanced, it can lead to weight fluctuations, fatigue, and other health concerns. But fear not! With a targeted thyroid diet plan, you can support your thyroid's optimal function and embark on a journey to better health. In this article, we unravel the mysteries of the thyroid and provide you with a practical and easy-to-follow Online Thyroid Diet Plan for Weight Loss to nurture your thyroid health & lose weight.
The Thyroid's Vital Role
The thyroid gland, a small butterfly-shaped organ located in the neck, produces hormones that influence nearly every cell in the body. These hormones, namely thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), regulate metabolism, body temperature, heart rate, and more.
Common Thyroid Disorders
✅  Hypothyroidism: When the thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones, it can result in weight gain, fatigue, and a slowed metabolism.
✅  Hyperthyroidism: Excessive thyroid hormone production can lead to weight loss, increased heart rate, and anxiety.
The Impact on Weight
Thyroid imbalances often manifest in weight-related issues. Hypothyroidism can contribute to weight gain, while hyperthyroidism may lead to weight loss. A well-planned Thyroid Diet Plan for Weight Loss can help address these concerns.
Fueling Your Thyroid with Nutrient-Rich Foods
✅  Embracing Iodine
Iodine is a key player in thyroid health, as it's an essential component of thyroid hormones. Incorporate iodine-rich foods like seaweed, seafood, dairy, and eggs into your diet.
✅  Selenium's Superpower
Selenium supports thyroid function and helps convert T4 into the active T3 hormone. Brazil nuts, fish, and whole grains are excellent sources of selenium.
✅  Smart Carbohydrates
Opt for complex carbohydrates like whole grains, legumes, and vegetables. These provide sustained energy and prevent blood sugar spikes that can impact thyroid function.
✅  Lean Protein
Protein aids in tissue repair and metabolism. Include lean protein sources like poultry, fish, tofu, and beans in your diet.
✅  Healthy Fats
Essential fatty acids found in nuts, seeds, and fatty fish promote hormone balance and overall well-being.
✅  Tyrosine-Rich Foods
Lean meats, poultry, fish, tofu, and dairy products offer tyrosine, an amino acid crucial for thyroid hormone synthesis.
✅  Leafy Greens
Rich in vitamins and minerals, leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard support thyroid function.
✅  Colorful Fruits and Veggies
Vibrant produce is packed with antioxidants that combat inflammation and promote thyroid health.
✅  Zinc-Rich Foods
Zinc contributes to hormone production and immune function. Enjoy zinc-rich foods like nuts, seeds, and whole grains.
Hydration and Hormones
✅  Staying Hydrated
Adequate hydration is vital for hormone production and overall health. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day.
✅  Limiting Goitrogens
Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and kale contain compounds called goitrogens, which can interfere with thyroid function. However, you can still enjoy their health benefits by cooking them, which reduces the goitrogenic effects while preserving their nutritional value.
Mindful Eating for Thyroid Health
The Importance of Mindful Eating
Mindful eating involves savoring each bite, eating slowly, and paying attention to hunger and fullness cues. This practice can prevent overeating and support digestion.
Seeking Professional Guidance
When navigating dietary choices for thyroid health, it's prudent to seek guidance from a qualified dietitian. A dietitian can tailor a nutrition plan to your individual needs, considering factors like thyroid condition, overall health, and lifestyle. This personalized approach ensures you make informed choices, optimizing your diet to support thyroid function effectively. You can consult with renowned Dietitian Swati Singh for seeking any kind of help regarding thyroid.
Consult a Healthcare Professional
Before making significant dietary changes, consult a healthcare provider or registered dietitian. They can provide personalized recommendations based on your thyroid health and overall well-being.
Conclusion
By embracing a thyroid-friendly diet, you take a proactive step toward supporting your thyroid's optimal function. Through nutrient-rich foods, balanced macronutrients, and mindful eating practices, you can promote hormone balance, metabolism, and overall vitality. Remember, your thyroid deserves the best care, and with the right diet plan, you're well on your way to nurturing your thyroid health for a vibrant and energized life.

Top 10 Foods Rich In Iodine
Iodine is an essential mineral that is vital for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. This gland plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development. The suggested daily amount of iodine intake, also known as the recommended daily intake (RDI), is 150 micrograms per day for the majority of adults. Nevertheless, for women who are expecting or breastfeeding, the necessary amount is greater. While iodine deficiency is rare in many developed countries due to the widespread use of iodized salt, it still affects millions of people worldwide. The deficiency of iodine can lead to thyroid problems, such as goiter, hypothyroidism, and cretinism. Therefore, it is important to consume foods that are rich in iodine to maintain optimal thyroid function.
Here are the top 10 foods rich in iodine.
1. Seaweed Seaweed is a type of marine algae that is incredibly rich in iodine. In fact, seaweed is one of the most concentrated natural sources of iodine available. It's important to note that not all types of seaweed contain high levels of iodine, so it's best to do some research before adding it to your meals. Some popular varieties include kelp, nori, wakame, and dulse. Seaweed can be enjoyed in salads, soups, sushi rolls, or even as a seasoning on top of roasted vegetables.
2. Shrimp Shrimp is an excellent source of iodine, providing approximately 35 micrograms of iodine in a 3-ounce serving. For optimal iodine intake, it is recommended to choose fresh or frozen shrimp over canned varieties, as they typically contain higher levels of iodine. In addition to iodine, shrimp is also packed with other essential nutrients such as protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin B12.
3. Oysters Oysters, a type of shellfish, are a nutritional powerhouse. They are rich in essential nutrients, particularly iodine. Consuming only six medium-sized oysters can provide you with more than double the recommended daily intake of iodine. Oysters are also rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Additionally, oysters are low in calories, making them a great food choice for those who are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy diet.
4. Scallops Scallops are a type of shellfish that are known for their sweet and delicate flavor. They are also a great source of iodine. A 3-ounce serving of scallops contains approximately 35 micrograms of iodine, which is more than 20% of the recommended daily intake. Moreover, They're also a great source of protein and low in fat. You can enjoy them grilled, sautéed, or even raw in sushi.
5. Tuna Tuna is an exceptional source of iodine, providing a wealth of health benefits. A 3-ounce serving of canned tuna contains approximately 17 micrograms of iodine, which is about 11% of the recommended daily intake. Additionally, tuna is also a great source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and other nutrients that are important for overall health. You can enjoy tuna in a salad, sandwich, or even as sushi.
6. Cod Cod is a popular white fish that is also rich in iodine. A 3-ounce serving of cod contains approximately 99 micrograms of iodine, which is more than 65% of the recommended daily intake. Moreover, it also provides other important nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and selenium.
7. Squid Squid is an excellent source of iodine. Just 3 ounces of cooked squid contain approximately 720 micrograms of iodine, which is more than four times the recommended daily intake. Squid is also rich in other nutrients like vitamins B12 and D, as well as omega-3 fatty acids. You can enjoy squid in various ways such as grilled, stir-fried, or even deep-fried as calamari rings.
8. Crab Crab is another seafood that is high in iodine. A 3-ounce serving of crab contains about 90 micrograms of iodine, which is nearly 60% of the recommended daily intake. Additionally, crab is a low-fat and high-protein food that provides several other important nutrients, like vitamin B12, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids. Not only does it taste great on its own, but it can be added to a variety of dishes like salads or soups.
9. Eggs Eggs are a great source of iodine, with one large egg containing approximately 24 micrograms of iodine, which is about 16% of the daily recommended intake, making them a great choice whether you're enjoying them as part of a breakfast spread or adding them to salads, sandwiches, or stir-fries.
10. Dairy Dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt are excellent sources of iodine. This is because cows are typically fed iodine-rich feed, and their milk contains high levels of this nutrient. Just one cup of milk can provide up to 56 micrograms of iodine, making it one of the easiest ways to meet your daily needs. Other dairy products like cheese and yogurt also contain significant amounts of iodine. However, remember to choose low-fat options to avoid excess saturated fat consumption. In addition, cheese and yogurt are fermented, which can increase the bioavailability of iodine. Dairy products are not only a great source of iodine but also provide other important nutrients such as calcium, protein, and vitamin D. However, people who are lactose intolerant or have milk allergies should look for other sources of iodine.

I’ve been hemming and hawing about talking about my healthcare journey publicly for a while. A friend (thanks Song) pointed out that it’d be good to have a log of things. From here I’ll be updating as things happen, but I thought it’d be a good idea to have a history of the issue written up for reference. I also thought I'd pop this stuff on my public account because who knows, it might be helpful to someone else.
Under a readmore because it turns out 5 years of mystery pain takes a lot of explaining. content warning for suicidal ideation.
In 2018, around mid-late february, my hands started to really hurt. They would swell in the heat which reduced mobility, and I coped mostly by holding cold cans or bottles to reduce the swelling and maintain movement. When it was still going on after a few weeks, I signed up with a GP. I recognised that this was going to be the start of something ongoing, and as I also needed treatment for depression and HRT, I wanted to get access to one regular doctor. I had previously been enrolled with the local student health clinic, where it was almost impossible to see the same doctor multiple times.
At the first meeting with my new GP I mentioned that my hands “didn’t work”. At that point, the swelling was still significant, and I was having trouble with things like vibration from video game controllers causing pain. The GP took this fairly seriously and referred me for Physiotherapy and Rheumatology, as well as ordering some blood tests. (quantative CRP [11 on this test. Normal range <5.], thyroid, iron, rheumatoid factors, glycated haemoglobin, ana master panel, complete blood count).
Twice during this period I went to emergency doctors for debilitating pain. Once was prescribed codiene, the next time the codine wasn’t working so I was moved to tramadol. At some point I also realised the pain in my feet matched that in my hands and pointed this out to doctors. I was prescribed amytriptileme for the pain and escitelopram for depression.
In march I got more blood tests, CRP at 12, still the only indication of pain visible in my bloods.
By december I had had an MRI, finished my honours dissertation, gotten a job, and my CRP levels were at 20. The MRI showed inflammation in my feet but no bone erosion (which most people were looking for). Physio and Rhuematology had both dismissed me (Physio said my issue was “not mechanical” and all rheumatoid signifiers were negative). I had also been given the mental health all-clear to begin a medical transition. I started testosterone in february of 2019.
Progress on investigation stalled almost completely at this point. Doctors were grasping at straws. Every now and then I’d bug them and they’d do more blood tests, but there was still nothing significant they could find. No diabetes, no celiac, no rheumatoid etc. In 2020 I didn’t bother investigating, but did start walking with a cane to assist the fatigue in my feet. Working from home was a blessing for me. I discovered this year that I could no longer cook without significant pain while chopping, stirring, or lifting objects. My walking range, which had been several kilometers previously, was down to about 1km. I discovered that the serious fatigue I was experiencing may have been caused by the Amytriptileme i was on for my pain, and I switched to Nortriptiline.
In 2021 my CRP was at 27, and I was referred back to rheumatology. More Xrays were done, and were normal. Work no longer let me work from home unless there was a “level 2 or higher” alert for covid. My nortriptiline was increased until I was taking 75mg a day.
Summer of 21/22 was bad. I got Serotonin Syndrome due to accidentally taking excess escitalopram for over a month, as well as burning out at work, started to have more active suicidal thoughts. In march 2022 I gave notice at my job and began planning to move back to my parents house.
In april 2022 I saw a rheumatologist at a clinic and he did some more tests. (CRP now 31). A chest xray was also ordered but came back normal. I was referred to physio again, this time for pain management more than anything. Rheumatologist told me that with weight loss, exercise, good pain management with medication AND clinical psychology I might be able to lower my pain to about 5 on an average day (from 7). He, and then later the physio, told me “some pain is normal”.
no longer working, I started resting agressively. Took my first adult nap in december ‘21, took regular naps through most of 2022. Asked my doctor if the nortriptiline could be causing the drowsyness, she agreed and I was dropped to 50mg. still frustrated with the lack of answers, in late 2022 my doctor looked at other symptoms i have, like dry flaky skin, some skin discolouration on my chest where my skin peels off regularly, and ordered a liver ultrasound. That revealed fatty liver syndrome, which due to liver function blood tests, my doctor considers irrelevant, though reinforced that i need to lose weight. At this point, I have lost around 12kg since moving in with my parents.
Right now (April 2023) I have been referred to a pain clinic, and am supposed to be doing an online seminar with them shortly. I still cannot cook for myself, and eating with cutlery hurts. I cannot write with a pen for very long without significant pain. Many days this week i have not been able to hold my cellphone without pain. Some days I go to sleep in the early evening to avoid being in pain - even after taking paracetamol and tramadol to alleviate it. Most things I do despite the pain. My last two tattoos were such a relief - a distraction from my everyday pain- that i fell asleep on the table. I still cannot walk more than about a kilometer and a half. Or well, 500m without pain but nothing is that close. Due to the fact I can’t drive I have no way to get around without my parents help or a taxi.
As someone who has always been fiercely independent, being reliant on my parents for everything - food, board, transport, even companionship - i have no local friends- is exhausting and extremely depressing. I am currently a patient at the local mental health crisis unit due to ongoing suicidal urges, because I simply cannot picture a future where I am anything but a burden, doing anything but experiencing ongoing pain. The psychiatrist there has given me some anti anxiety medication, but after the initial dose he put me on landed me in hospital with heart palpitations, he doesn’t think its’ safe to mess with my medication further. I’ve been referred for psychology, and right now that is the only real avenue of improvement on the horizon. If it helps.
I don’t have a lot of hope.

Hello, I hope you're well. If possible please do a "Language of birthdays" for May 14, thank you in advance!
Language Of Birthdays: May 14 - Taurus
The Day Of The Modern Irrepressibles
May 14 people are quick to recognize both present and future opportunities. Extremely modern and up-to-date in their outlook, they may even have an eye to how the world will appear one or two hundred years from now. Yet they live and work squarely in the present. Some born on this day display a marked disinterest in the past and largely regard tradition as a collection of bad habits. Not surprisingly then, May 14 people are not at all shy about making a break with traditional methods in their field of endeavor. They have more confidence in their own plans than what is written in the book, unless of course they have written the book themselves.
With great nervous energy those born on this day push themselves on, seeking perfection, but their need to eliminate all faults from what they do can be a bit extreme. As a matter of fact, it is May 14 people's capacity for moderation that bears most strongly on their success; those who can't pace themselves tend to wear themselves out, and their highly critical focus places strain on family, friends and co-workers. It can. of course, be difficult for a child to please a May 14 parent, at least where performance is concerned.
Although hard-driving and demanding, the emotional affect of those born on this day is usually low-key. and they can be very private in regard to spiritual matters. Typically, May 14 people are alternately dynamic and contemplative. It may, therefore, be difficult for those who live and work with them to know when to approach and when to stay away. Should they catch a May 14 person in the wrong mood, they may be sorry indeed. May 14 people are not the most patient with those who misunderstand them. They strongly prefer that work be done in sync with their own rhythm, which at one time may be maddeningly slow, at another lightning quick. Generally, however, those born on this day favor a measured pace, not wishing to rush over details.
Because they are often ahead of their time, May 14 people may be misunderstood and even scorned at the beginning of their career. They demand respect, however, and sooner or later others begin to appreciate the value of their work. Basically, it just takes people a bit of time to catch up with them.
May 14 people faced with an acute physical disability7 or disease often combat it by mentally shrugging it off. refusing to be daunted. As a matter of fact, most obstacles in their path tend to be ignored. More highly evolved May 14 people will, however, give ear to critics they respect, and assimilate good advice. This proves exceedingly valuable; those who refuse to listen face the danger of both mental and physical burnout as the years pass. May 14 people will learn that their energy is not inexhaustible nor their recuperative capacity unlimited. It is also important for them to realize that they can ultimately achieve much more when those around them are allowed to feel grounded in their own sense of time and values.
Strengths:
Advanced
Energetic
Perfectionist
Weaknesses:
Overstressed
Nervous
Difficult
Advice
May 14 people often suffer from self-induced stress of all kinds. Placid settings and comfortable environments help to insure that those born on this day remain relaxed and work effectively. Headaches of all kinds, sore throats, thyroid conditions, and neck and upper back pain may all be manifestations of the stress which May 14 people internalize. If they are able to keep to a regular diet and a routine of daily exercise, they will avoid exhaustion and health breakdowns. Earthy Taurus foods (cooked grains, bread, potatoes, stews) have a grounding effect on May 14 people. If insomnia becomes a problem, they should avoid medication in favour of mental and meditative training.
Remember that moderation is the key to your success; cultivate calm Voice constructive criticism, but make clear your good will
Don't miss the forest for the trees.

CITRUS FAMILY
Where do citrus fruits come from?
All of the citrus fruits are from the family Rutaceae. This family is also known as the rue family and contains flowering plants that generally have a strong scent. The genus Citrus includes oranges, grapefruits, limes and lemons. These fruits have been cultivated since ancient times. They have probably originated from Australia, New Caledonia and New Guinea, although some research points to them originating in Southeast Asia. Many of the species are hybrids and there is speculation that even the wild true-breeding species are actually hybrids originally.
What do citrus fruits do?
All of the citrus fruits are noted for their fragrance. This is due to limonoids and flavonoids (both of which have strong antioxidant and antibacterial properties). They can help prevent kidney stones, as they contain high levels of citrate. Lemons are the highest, drinking diluted lemon juice daily has been shown to decrease kidney stone formation.
The vitamin C content of citrus fruits is legendary, and regular consumption has been found to decrease your cardiovascular and heart disease risks, whilst increasing life expectancy. Vitamin C is also a natural anti-histamine, preventing histamine release and aiding in its detoxification.  Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant, reducing oxidative stress.
How do I use citrus fruits?
Use the peel! It’s full of antioxidants and can help fight free radicals, balance blood sugar levels and support thyroid health. You can buy candied peel for desserts here.
Juice, have a look at our smoothie and juice recipes.
Mix with water, a slice or 2 of a citrus fruit in hot water first thing in the morning will help to alkalise your system and aid in cleansing.
What fruits do Real Foods sell from the citrus family?
Tumblr media
Lemons are probably a hybrid between a bitter orange (C. Aurantium) and a citron (C. Medica). Although it could be a hybrid involving limes! They contain high amounts of citric acid, around 5-6% of total weight. Initially discovered in India, lemons were avilable during the Roman Empire's heydays but were not widely cultivated until the Arabs introduced them into Italy in the 8th century.  Colombus took them to America and it was then that their amazing effects on scurvy were noticed. They are highly valued for their juice and high vitamin C content.
Limes - C. Aurantifolia are so called because they have long been confused with lemons. The name is derived from ‘limun’. The 2 most popularly cultivated limes are the Mexican or key Lime and the Persian lime. Limes were unknown in Europe before the crusaders and were probably imported from Palestine after Arabs had introduced them there. Their incredible flavour and high essential oil content is used widely in cooking and is popular for marinades.
Tumblr media
Tangerines – C. Tangerina is probably derived from C. Oculata. Less sour and sweeter than oranges, the name is derived from Tangiers which grew them widely at one time. The red-orange skin is usually what separates them from mandarins.
Satsumas – C. Unshiu are probably of Japanese origin and are very easy to peel. Sweet, their nickname the “Christmas orange”  is because they are very popular as Christmas treat in the U.K.
Sweet oranges are known as Citrus Sinensis and are a hybrid between a pomelo (C. grandi s or C. maxima) and a mandarin (C. reticulata). There is no history of the orange being grown in the wild and it’s thought to have been selected in China or northern India from their cultivation of mandarins and pomelos. Oranges have been grown from at least 2500 B.C.E in China.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia) are a hybrid between lemons and oranges (it’s why they’re sometimes called orange  bergamot and others  call them lemon bergamots).  They are relatives of sour oranges and are famously unpalatable. Similar to Seville in the sense they are prized for their zest, their flavour and pith for marmalade making and their scent. They do not taste very nice however! Bergamots are only available occasionally through the year.

will be shocked if its not thyroid cancer spread to the lymph nodes lmao
and this whole process is taking fucking forever and its just getting worse everyday.... i just don't want it to spread to distant areas like lungs and shit, because if it stays in the lymph nodes they shouldn't have to do chemo or radiation except maybe the radiated iodine pills or whatever they are...
im fucking exhausted from all the health issues I've had for so many years now i don't remember what its like to have energy or feel okay
thank Fuck my husband is so insanely supportive and sweet
i don't have to work now so im finally getting some rest
just taking care of the 4 dogs, 3 horses, 2 donkeys (all that are finally home with me on 15 acres), a bunch of rats, 2 snakes, 2 geckos and a bunch of spiders, gardening (actually outside finally haha), reading a shit ton, making art, cooking, cleaning and playing a lot of minecraft, pokemon and flight rising haha so I'm certainly not bored
just now really worried if i have to have my thyroid and lymph nodes removed that I'm gonna be out for a bit and my husband works full time so i don't know how I'll deal with taking care of the dogs when I'm in the hospital and hopefully not long afterward... but even one day of that makes me anxious about them lol
my mother in law is around but she is 72 jjsjs

9 Foods To Eat For Weight Loss
9 Foods To Eat For Weight Loss
1. Vegetables
Vegetables of all kinds can assist with weight loss, says Feit. For example, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and cabbage are high in fiber and vitamins and help reduce digestive issues. Meanwhile, dark green leafy vegetables contain protein and are a good source of vitamins, minerals and fiber. And crunchy vegetables like celery and jicama are great low-calorie options for snacking.
2. Salmon
Fatty fish like salmon are incredibly nutritious and very satisfying.
Salmon is loaded with high quality protein, healthy fats, and various important nutrients. That combination keeps you satiated and can help you reach a healthier weight.
Salmon is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which may help reduce inflammation. Inflammation plays a major role in obesity and metabolic disease.
What’s more, fish — and seafood, in general — may also supply a significant amount of iodine.
The nutrient is necessary for proper thyroid function, which is important to keep your metabolism running optimally
But studies show that a significant number of Adding fatty fish to your diet can help you consume enough iodine
Mackerel, trout, sardines, herring, tuna, and other types of fatty fish are also excellent for your health.
3. Grapefruit
Yes, grapefruit really can help you shed pounds, especially if you are at risk for diabetes.
Researchers at Scripps Clinic in San Diego found that when obese people ate half a grapefruit before each meal, they dropped an average of 3 ½ pounds over 12 weeks. Drinking grapefruit juice had the same results.
But grapefruit juice doesn’t have any proven “fat-burning” properties — it may just have helped people feel full.
Be careful: You cannot have grapefruit or grapefruit juice if you are on certain medications, so check the label on all your prescriptions, or ask your pharmacist or doctor
4. Apples
These marvels of nature deserve their reputation for keeping the doctor away when you eat one a day. And now, it seems, they can help you melt the fat away, too.
First of all, they elevate your blood glucose (sugar) levels in a safe, gentle manner and keep them up longer than most foods. The practical effect of this is to leave you feeling satisfied longer, say researchers.
Secondly, they’re one of the richest sources of soluble fiber in the supermarket. This type of fiber prevents hunger pangs by guarding against dangerous swings or drops in your blood sugar level, says Dr. James Anderson of the University of Kentucky’s School of Medicine.
An average size apple provides only 81 calories and has no sodium, saturated fat or cholesterol. You’ll also get the added health benefits of lowering the level of cholesterol already in your blood as well as lowering your blood pressure.
5. Mustard
Try the hot, spicy kind you find in Asian import stores, specialty shops and exotic groceries. Dr. Jaya Henry of Oxford Polytechnic Institute in England, found that the amount of hot mustard normally called for in Mexican, Indian and Asian recipes, about one teaspoon, temporarily speeds up the metabolism, just as caffeine and the drug ephedrine do.
“But mustard is natural and totally safe,” Henry says. “It can be used every day, and it really works. I was shocked to discover it can speed up the metabolism by as much as 20 to 25 percent for several hours.” This can result in the body burning an extra 45 calories for every 700 consumed, Dr. Henry says.
6. Rice
An entire weight-loss plan, simple called the Rice Diet, was developed by Dr. William Kempner at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The diet, dating to the 1930’s, makes rice the staple of your food Intake. Later on, you gradually mix in various fruits and vegetables.
It produces stunning weight loss and medical results. The diet has been shown to reverse and cure kidney ailments and high blood pressure.
A cup of cooked rice (150 grams) contains about 178 calories — approximately one-third the number of calories found in an equivalent amount of beef or cheese. And remember, whole grain rice is much better for you than white rice.
7. Berries
This is the perfect weight-loss food. Berries have natural fructose sugar that satisfies your longing for sweets and enough fiber so you absorb fewer calories that you eat. British researchers found that the high content of insoluble fiber in fruits, vegetables and whole grains reduces the absorption of calories from foods enough to promote width loss without hampering nutrition.
Berries are a great source of potassium that can assist you in blood pressure control. Blackberries have 74 calories per cup, blueberries 81, raspberries 60 and strawberries 45. So use your imagination and enjoy the berry of your choice.
8. Fish
The health benefits of fish are greater than experts imagined — and they’ve always considered it a health food.
The calorie count in the average four-ounce serving of a deep-sea fish runs from a low of 90 calories in abalone to a high of 236 in herring. Water-packed tuna, for example, has 154 calories. It’s hard to gain weight eating seafood.
As far back as 1985, articles in the New England Journal of Medicine showed a clear link between eating fish regularly and lower rates of heart disease. The reason is that oils in fish thin the blood, reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol.
