Bruce rolled his eyes as he listened to the board members arguing in the background over the phone while he talked to his CFO Lucius Fox. They were trying to push a vote on expanding Wayne Enterprise to Canada. Most were for it. They just couldn’t agree on where the corporate headquarters should be. The places being thrown around were Toronto, Quebec City, Halifax, and Vancouver. Bruce honestly didn’t care about where they built, but his board members fought back that it was all about location, location, location.
Lucius sighed and said, “If it wasn’t for the fact that you pay me handsomely for this bullshit, I would have bailed on these idiots an hour ago.”
Bruce smirked and asked, “So it isn’t the box seat passes that I got you for the Giants’ games for the rest of the season?”
Lucius chuckled and said, “Oh, that definitely took the edge off.” Lucias paused for a moment and said, “What exactly do you want me to do with this stalemate they have about Canada? We tried holding a vote but ended up with equal votes for all the cities.”
Bruce rubbed his head for a moment and said, “Have one of the associates make out a proposal for the mayor of each of those respective cities. We know what we can offer in terms of job opportunities and increasing value to the city. See what the representatives can offer us in terms of tax breaks and things of that nature. Whoever offers us the best benefits is the one we go with.”
Lucius sighed and said, “This is why I wished you were here with us an hour ago. We could have ended the meeting in five minutes with an idea like that.”
Bruce chuckled and said, “I needed to be here for Damian. This is an important milestone for him.”
“Are you sure you are not using this as an excuse to get out of a board meeting? Disneyland was a weird choice, but I have seen you choose stranger places to avoid the Board.”
Bruce rolled his eyes and said, “Damian really did have a field trip for Disney. I wasn’t going to let him go by himself. The PTA already think I am an idiot and absentminded as it is….”
Lucius burst out laughing for a few minutes.
Bruce narrowed his eyes and asked, “What’s so funny?”
Lucius’ laugh started tapering off and said, “I’m sorry. I just never thought that you of all people would care what other people think. Imagine what your opposition in your second life would think.”
Bruce gave a deadpan stare and said, “Ha, Ha. Very funny.”
Lucius chuckled and said, “You know I’m kidding right?”
Bruce smiled coyly and said, “Sure you are.”
“Anyway, how is Damian taking to Disney? I’m sure it is different to the other eclectic things he has been exposed to in his childhood.”
Bruce sighed while rubbing the back of his head. He knew going to Disney would be a very foreign concept for his youngest, but he didn’t expect him to fight him the whole way. Or maybe it was wishful thinking. It would definitely explain the looks his other three boys gave him when he mentioned their trip. Dick and Jason just bursted out laughing at the suggestion and Tim started to do research into securing Damian an attorney in case he decided to burn the theme park down in vengeance.
Bruce shook his head and said, “Damian hasn’t taken too kindly being here. He has already pressed the panic button he has twice to try to get Tim to pick him up since he is with the Titans this week in California. When that didn’t work, he tried to ditch me to go back to the main road to hitchhike before I caught up with him.”
“Considering his other antics are you really surprised by this?”
Bruce sighed and said, “My three older boys have already indicated the same thing. I just want him to have people his age to associate with.”
Bruce looked out the corner of his eye and noticed Lena coming back with several Dole Whips.
While looking at her thoughtfully, Bruce said, “Lucius, if there isn’t anything else, I am going to have to call you back after I get back to Gotham on Monday.”
“Okay, hope things go better with Damian this weekend.”
“You and me both,” muttered Bruce under his breath as he hung up the phone.
He quickly changed his frown to a passive smile as Lena finally walked up to him.
Lena smiled and said while handing him a Dole Whip, “Damian and Kara wanted some. I got some for you in case you wanted one as well.”
Bruce gave her a blank stare. He knew that Kara trusted her implicitly, but he still had some nagging thoughts about her.
Lena chuckled nervously and said, “If you don’t want it, that is fine. I can just give it to Kara. She would probably be excited at the prospect of having two more.”
Bruce let out his charming smile which took Lena off guard for a moment.
Bruce said, “I would actually like to try some. Some of my employees have talked wonders about this so I am curious if it lives up to all the hype.”
Bruce took the cup from Lena. He began to eat. His eyebrow went up in surprise. He knew that this was similar to ice cream but this is the best ice cream that he has had in a while.
Lena smirked and said, “I take it this means that it far exceeded your expectations.”
Bruce chuckled and said, “Definitely.”
They stood in weird silence with one other. Bruce could tell that Lena kept nervously looking around. Probably wish that Kara would come back as quickly as possible. Originally, Bruce thought about keeping silent until his son and Kara came back but then saw it as an opportunity to get to know the girl. Clark hadn’t been too keen on anyone approaching Lena. Several veiled threats were made if anyone did. If asked, he could use this as an innocent run-in, although he can hear it now from Clark accusing him that it was planned.
He sighed and said, “Kara has said that you run a children’s hospital.”
Lena smiled and let out a sigh of relief and said, “Yes. I believe in the importance of getting children the best healthcare they could as possible no matter what the cost.”
“What caused you to want to focus on children’s health though?”
Lena looked up thoughtfully and said, “My niece Ruby inspired me actually. She was sick. Most doctors thought it was a cold or at most the flu and said with just over-the-counter medicine it would go away. However, she kept getting sicker and nothing was working. We went to doctor after doctor until one actually did their research and found out what was wrong with her and got her the treatment that she needed to get well. I don’t want any family to have to go through that. Being dismissed and thinking that your concerns aren’t valid. I wanted to have doctors look into everything instead of looking at what is most common. That is when I decided to scout for the best of the best in pediatrics and start my own hospital.”
Bruce gave her an insightful look. Many had regarded Lena using her hospital for nefarious purposes, but he has seen that the commercial that Kara and Lena did a couple of weeks back had changed the discourse around it. Now, more patients have been giving reviews and it has been overall positive. It was good to know that Lena created the hospital as a way to inspire change. Bruce was about to comment as such when he heard his phone ring again. He sighed and looked down and saw that Alfred was calling. He looked at Lena sheepishly and mouthed “One moment.”

“Let me help you.” for Clark and Bruce please?
i’m making these rounds of prompts au so i present: new neighbor au (note: i know next to nothing about the bat fam pretty pretty please do not kill me i’m begging)
Bruce Wayne already hated moving into the house, although the house itself wasn’t particularly bad. Jason and Dick were already fighting over who got the corner room (they didn’t know Cass had already started to set up a vanity there) and he had already heard at least one bad crack from a kitchen box.
But it was fine.
This did not explain why there was a strange man in his house, talking to Jason as if this was a regular occurrence.
“Who are you?” Bruce asks bluntly. “And what the hell are you doing in my house?”
“Dad!” Jason hisses. “This is our new neighbor, Clark Kent. Be nice.”
“It’s okay, I technically did come into the house without his knowledge,” newly-named Clark Kent admits. “I’m sorry, I just noticed that your son was struggling with a box labeled ‘dishes’ and figured it’d be better to help than to schedule a trip to the store for more plates.”
He was right. This was the problem.
(This guy was also ripped, had on a pair of thick, black frames that somehow looked good, and looked like he probably ripped logs in half when he was bored.)
“Thank you,” Bruce says curtly. “But I think we have it from here.”
He hears a yell from the yard, and it’s Dick and Tim fighting over a box that got dumped over.
Inside is the office computer, which is now not an office computer but scraps for one of the kids to use for some project that hopefully isn’t world domination.
(It’s not like Bruce can’t replace it, it’s just that...well he doesn’t want to go monitor shopping.)
“Let me help you,” new-neighbor says. He’s too damn earnest.
“I’m fine,” Bruce grits out. “Believe me, I can handle it.”
“You just moved in with more kids than I think I’ve seen, it’s been a long day. At least let me make you dinner.”
“Please?” Duke asks.
Clark gestures as if saying “I was right.”
“Your cooking kind of...sucks.”
“It’s not that bad.”
Jason pokes his head out now to yell for pizza.
Bruce pinches the bridge of his nose. “Fine. Dinner is fine. Thank you. It’s not necessary. You will spoil my kids. But thank you.”
“Um...how many are exactly in your family?”
“Shoot for ten, that’s probably good,” Duke says.
To his credit, Clark only blinks once.
“Gotcha,” he says. “Dinner will be ready in two hours, give or take. I have a...store trip.”
Bruce slips him cash.
“Here. I know it’s a pain. You can back out of it or order pizza. If you order pizza, that’d probably work.”
“Pizza sounds good. I’ll get pizza. Any allergies?”
“Don’t put mushrooms on it!” Cass yells out the window. “They suck!”
“No they don’t!” Damian yells back. “You have no taste!”
Clark grins.
“I think I’m gonna like having you guys as my new neighbors.”
Clark thinks his new neighbors are fun. He can sometimes hear yelling and the boys are chasing each other around the kitchen. They practice what looks to be a game of tag but with consequences in the backyard.
Their father is very interesting. He leaves the house at five each morning for work, and Clark only knows that because he’s on a run every day with Diana, who is also as insane as he is.
“He looks nice,” she says, craning her neck.
“Way to be obvious,” he comments.
“Like you aren’t,” Diana says, laughing. “Catch up to me before I lap you again.”
Clark rolls his eyes. “Fine.”
“When was the last time you dated?”
“You know the last time I dated,” he responds. “I’m fine with not dating.”
“And yet I think you’d actually want to date a man who has what seems to be an infinite supply of children,” Diana responds.
“You make it sound creepy.”
“I can’t keep track of them. I keep seeing new ones.”
Clark tells her all about the kids. How he sometimes talks to Tim about school over the fence, or he’ll bring over dessert since Cass mentioned no one knows how to bake besides Alfred, but Alfred retired.
(Note: find out who Alfred is.)
Who he doesn’t talk much to is Bruce. Which is odd, considering he knows that he’s home quite a bit.
(Windows are clear, you see things through them. That’s his reasoning.)
Bruce is a very interesting man, because he’s always out with the kids throwing around a ball, or taking at least one of them around the neighborhood learning how to drive.
(Clark is scared for Cass to actually have a car she’s run over about seven different mailboxes.)
It’s when he gets his doorbell rung and standing there is Duke and Damian.
“You’re coming to family dinner,” Damian says. “We figure we owe you for always climbing your fence to get the baseballs and for sometimes probably keeping you up until two a.m. because we’re debating on food.”
“I’ve learned much about pineapple on pizza,” Clark says. “What time should I show up? Do you guys want dessert?”
“Dessert would be great, and dinner is at six-thirty,” Duke says, grinning. “Still remember those lemon bars you made. Best things I’ve ever had.”
“I’ll bring some over then,” Clark says, grinning.
Unofficially, the kids have noticed that their dad needs someone.
Well okay he doesn’t but occasionally he looks at their neighbor a second longer.
(Tim did the math.)
So Clark gets invited to dinner. Besides, they’re tired of simply talking over a fence. And Alfred suggested knowing at least one neighbor just in case one of them got in trouble and Bruce was away on business or the like.
Bruce does not know that Clark got invited to dinner.
Or that he can actually casually wear t-shirts.
(He wonders if he tailors his t-shirts.)
“What are you doing here?” He asks.
“Was I...not invited?” Clark asks.
“Oh, you definitely were,” Dick says. “We decided to be neighborly. We followed Alfred’s advice, Dad. You know how good that is.”
Bruce knows he cannot argue against Alfred.
“Welcome,” Bruce says. “I hope they didn’t badger you into bringing another dessert.”
(Oh let it be known Bruce is a liar, he was hoping for a dessert.)
“Duke requested lemon bars, so I had to fill a need,” Clark explains. “Thanks for letting me crash your dinner.”
“It isn’t a problem,” Bruce says. “Tim, go get another chair.”
“Why do I have to get the chair?”
“Damian, go get the chair.”
“I am hated in this family,” Damian declares, getting up from his seat. “But I’ll go get it.”
“I appreciate you!” Clark calls, navigating through the kitchen easily. “Mind if I set the dessert down?”
“Not at all, let me squeeze past you to get the water glasses.”
Okay so maybe Tim scoots his chair back and Bruce is used to just moving out of the way and avoiding getting the back of a chair shoved into his stomach but then he runs into Clark.
“Sorry!” he says.
Bruce is against his back.
“It’s fine,” he says, straightening himself up. “Tim, quit moving your chair at ill-opportune times.”
“Sorry,” Tim says, looking not-sorry-at-all.
Bruce sends him a dirty look.
Damian shows up with the chair, grinning.
“Sorry about the kitchen, tends to be a hard-to-get place with all of us. Anyways, water?”
Bruce hates his kids. They are not slick about anything. Cass cannot look him in the eye without smiling.
Clark is oblivious.
Dinner is...good. Better than good. Clark is surprisingly good with dry humor, and entertains the kids with stories of his greatest journalism feats.
(Bruce is impressed.)
He also handles the sheer volume of kids with a certain amount of grace. He listens carefully when Tim’s talking, even when Jason yells over him for someone to pass the dessert.
After dinner, Clark is invited to the backyard porch to have a drink while the kids play outdoors.
“You do a nice job,” Clark says. “It must get pretty crazy, all by yourself.”
“It can be,” Bruce admits. “Although the kids have grown up enough to know when they need to quit it. Mostly. Sometimes they still fight about things like ice cream.”
“The great flavor debate,” Clark nods. “Your stance on chocolate chip cookie dough.”
“Oh god, you’re that guy?”
“It’s the superior flavor!”
“That is the most boring answer you could’ve given.”
“And what is your answer?”
“Peppermint.”
Clark stares at him.
“What?”
“So you only have ice cream, like, once a year?”
“Sure. Don’t really like any other flavor.”
Clark shakes his head.
“Not mint?”
“Mint is still good, but not the best.”
“And your stance on the lemon bars?” Clark asks.
“I hid some in the fridge so I could get more,” Bruce admits. Clark laughs.
Bruce likes the sound of that. He likes how Clark looks under those stupid fairylights that Duke and Cass had snuck into the cart when he wasn’t looking. (They looked good, he had to admit.)
He looks away for a moment.
“It’s getting dark,” Clark says. “I have an early day tomorrow, I better head home.”
“Feel free to come any time,” Bruce says, nodding. “I mean that.”
“I get the feeling you never say things you don’t mean,” Clark answers.
Bruce smiles slightly.
“How’d it go?” Dick asks.
“Do not ask me.”
(That means it went well.)
Clark comes over to the house a lot more after that, as well as having the Wayne family over to his.
Lois makes fun of him when he has his phone background a picture of him and the family in the backyard for Tim’s birthday.
“You need to marry in,” she says. “Enough of this.”
“We’re just neighbors.”
Lois starts humming music from The Sound of Music and Clark gives her a look.
“You still need to meet your deadline by tonight!” Lois calls back. “I know you can do it!”
He sighs, turning back to his desk.
Tonight was his turn to host dinner, and it was all of them. He still had to leave work early (if he could) and get the makings for the rest of the meal.
Dear Clark,  Duke mentioned that you have an upcoming deadline at work. I am aware this could impede your timing for tonight’s dinner. I am going to the store with Cass. What do you need for dinner?  From,  Bruce Wayne.
Clark snorts. Bruce always texts like that, no matter who it is. He texts his own kids like that, no matter the circumstance.
Thank you, Bruce. I need one more pound of ground beef and some drinks (juice and stuff like that.) I will pay you back when you get back.
Dear Clark,  Payment is not necessary. All of my children have subjected you to debates about “pineapple” and “government conspiracy theories.” No problem.  From,  Bruce Wayne.
“Why I’m attracted to you, I have no idea,” Clark mutters, rolling away from his desk to get another coffee.
“You should get him flowers,” Cass says, looking at the bouquets lined up.
“Why?” Bruce asks.
“People like flowers,” she says. “And they’re used when you like someone.”
Bruce slowly swivels his head.
“Would you like to pretend that I never heard you?”
“Not really. You’re the one grocery shopping for our neighbor that’s your type and refusing payment.”
“How do you know what my type is?”
“When Tim and Jason get bored it gets bad.”
“Remind me to rescind talking privileges in-house.”
“Noted, but disregarded. We need gummy worms.”
“We do not need gummy worms.”
They still get thrown in the cart.
And now Bruce is nervous for a dinner that is literally just a dinner but maybe he should get flowers.
He gets sunflowers. Because Clark is a Kansas boy and roses are overrated anyways.
Clark gets flowers from Bruce, who by all means looks quite flustered.
“They’re wonderful,” he says, smiling. “Cass help you pick these out?”
“Nope, his idea,” Cassie says, digging into her pockets. “I bought gummy worms.”
Clark blinks as she steps off to go see her brothers.
Bruce winces.
“Sorry if that’s a bit...forward. I figured you’d like the sunflowers.”
“Not too forward at all,” Clark says. “In fact, I’d like an after-dinner conversation, if you don’t mind.”
Bruce blinks.
“Um. Yes.”
That is the first time he had ever said “um” in Clark’s presence, so this is a pretty momentous occasion.
Dinner is still nice. Bruce is a bit lost in thought and Clark has to refocus in on the conversation of Dick bitching about his new floor routine and the coach who’s making it impossible to practice.
The kids have enough sense to offer to either a.) go work on homework or b.) do the dishes.
Clark leads Bruce to the backyard, sitting on the patio furniture. They overlook his garden.
“I don’t know why I kept the fence,” Clark says. “Not like anyone’s to the right of me, and your family comes over often enough we don’t really need one. Wanna help me remove it?”
“Is that what your after-dinner conversation consisted of?” Bruce asks.
“No,” Clark says. “But I needed to say something else so I got courage to say what I want to say.” He takes a breath.
“Bruce, you are without a doubt the strangest man I have ever met. You send text messages like you’re sending business emails, yet you always participate with Jason’s internet dances and even, on occasion, help prank other siblings. You pretend like you never know anyone’s interests but you have gotten me my favorite jam at least once and make the kids’ favorite desserts for dinner.
“Furthermore, I think I am incredibly in love with you because you look nice in suits and you got me sunflowers because you know I like them. You are also one of the best people I’ve ever met. So I would like to take you on a date.”
“A real date?”
“As opposed to what, taking you to a meeting with my journalism team?” Clark asks.
Bruce smiles softly.
“I am joking.”
“Nerd.”
“Where is the date going to be?”
“I figured we actually go to that restaurant we always order takeout from instead of ordering enough for twenty people,” Clark teases.
“Sounds good to me,” Bruce says. “We’ll need to not tell the kids or they’ll want to spy on us.”
“Obviously. What day works for you?”
“Wednesday?”
“We both tell them it’s a late night at the offices, start without us,”  Clark says, grinning.
“I can’t wait.”
The date goes quite well. The kids are very sad to have missed it, although they make sure everyone knows that they were the ones who set the two up in the first place.
“You have to say it in your wedding vows,” Dick says. “I was the one who planned it.”
“I was the one who pushed my chair!” Tim yells.
Cass rolls her eyes, shares a look with Duke.
Bruce shakes his head.
“You are not getting credit for Clark asking me to go on dates with him, Dick. You get credit for not unloading the dishwasher this morning, however.”
“Ugh.”
Damian snickers from his position on the couch, and gets a flowering look from his older sibling.
“Where’s your date tonight?” Duke asks his dad. “Going somewhere special?”
“Maybe,” Bruce answers. “It’s Clark’s turn to choose. I never know with him.”
(He knows. They’re going to a farmer’s market. Barbara Gordon also knows this and has told Jason, who finds it hilarious that his dad, who usually is very Stern and Serious will be pulled into conversation on different strains of heirloom tomatoes.)

My thoughts on the Snyder Cut
Overall, Snyder Cut is the more competently made Justice League movie. I watched the theatrical release with my girlfriend - who has never seen MoS or BvS or JL before - before watching the Snyder Cut with her a few days later, so it’s still fairly fresh in my mind.
The Snyder cut is better organized and (despite being 4 hours long) better paced. I really gave ZERO shits about the mother boxes the way they were presented in the theatrical release, but I was engaged with the plot from the start in the Snyder Cut. Scenes were reorganized in a way that were more logical. Fight sequences were paced MUCH better, and kept me interested in what was happening on the screen - my girlfriend and I SKIPPED the last fight sequence in the theatrical release when we watched it because we were BORED; we didn’t get that bored at any point during the Snyder Cut.
Most of the scenes I liked from the theatrical release are ripped wholesale from this version of the movie, with maybe an exception or two.
EVERYTHING with Cyborg is better in this movie. Like. EVERYTHING.
The lighting? Is SO MUCH better. The theatrical cut is SO UGLY compared to this movie. My girlfriend couldn’t look at the bat suit in the theatrical release for a second without complaining it looked terrible, and that was a nonissue in the snyder cut, the bat suit looked amazing. Diana’s low necklines were still there, but no longer shot in a way that was distracting. And dear god, the Steppenwolf redesign looks so much better, god.
Speaking of Steppenwolf, our villain now has a character motivation! He’s in some way sympathetic and understandable! Wow! Now I fucking understand why our villain is doing what they’re doing, and it plays into the theme!
And that’s where the praise has to stop, because now I gotta get into the complaints. Under the cut, so now one has to listen to my bitching if they don’t want to. (Also, I get into like, spoilers, so be warned)
Okay, this movie has a theme, and the theme is family, and it is SO POORLY EXECUTED. Snyder doesn’t do “theme” particularly well - the family angle is kind of an after thought. It’s there, for sure, Steppenwolf wants to go home and be part of his family again, and family is a big part of Cyborg’s arc, and Barry’s stuff with his dad is pretty strong, but this movie isn’t Cyborg and the Flash vs. Steppenwolf - it’s THE JUSTICE LEAGUE vs. Steppenwolf. Each character has a connection to their family that is TOUCHED on, but it’s not given the weight it needs. Diana receives a message from her mother, but Diana doesn’t go visit her at any point or send a message back or anything. Aquaman talks about his mother and father kind of expositionally, designed to set up for the Aquaman movie which now contradicts the already existing Aquaman movie, but we never see his family nor get a strong sense of connection. Clark’s reunion with his mother is extremely brief and unimpactful. And Bruce, who has so much opportunity to delve deep into family connections, especially as the only member of the League who’s ever been a father, confirmed by the nightmare sequence, is given nothing to work with on the family front.
That’s another thing, Snyder does plot driven movies, he doesn’t do CHARACTER very well. He’d rather exposition for 20 minutes than delve into the emotions of his characters. We’re given an idea that maybe Diana’s worried about her mom, and Bruce is probably still grieving his dead child, but none of that is dealt with. Like, Superman is a McGuffin, he has some emotional weight when he goes to get the black and white suit and you get the overlapping dialog of Jor-El and Jonathan, but he gets over being DEAD so fast, and his reunions with his family are like... limp noodles. I think the worst offender is the death of Cyborg’s father, which I found extremely clunky, and Victor has feelings about it for, like, a scene, kind of, and it just gets pushed aside. His own teammates are barely empathetic that he just lost a parent. I’ve already heard people praise this scene as “more interesting and emotional”, but I found it EXTREAMLY clunky and awkwardly handled.
Speaking of the exposition, it goes SO LONG. Like, SO LONG. We don’t need this much info dumping, it drags the movie. Cut Diana’s explanation of the mother boxes down to, like, three minutes, five max. Maybe do it like the Story of Ares from the Wonder Woman movie. Keep the first scene of Steppenwolf and Desaad establishing Steppenwolf’s character motivation and then like.... cut.... everything.... else. Between Steppenwolf and Desaad. It mostly exists to set up the fuckin’ Anti-Life equation sequel bait, which we don’t need explained in detail in THIS movie; just have Darkseid mention it at the end as a reason to return to Earth at the end like they already do and cut out all the stuff setting it up, let it be a mystery. And then Cyborg’s info dump on his powers wasn’t necessary, though I liked the way it led into a warm fuzzy moment of him helping that family, and he kinda smiles like, yeah, he likes helping people, he’s on his way to accepting himself and stuff. But then the extra info dump about how his dad’s lab came into possession of the cube like “WELL, IN WORLD WAR 2 - “ like aaaaah, no one cares, cut it.
Uh... I wish I saw less of Darkseid. I feel like the movie ruined its own suspense by showing off Darkseid’s full design within the first hour. I would have prefered a, you know, more Fire Lord Ozai approach. Don’t show him until the end - or AT ALL, if they can manage it, leave that for a future movie, given this was made with the expectations of more movies. Darkseid’s design was also really disappointing, like Steppenwolf looked so GOOD, he was big and menacing with the armor on, but next to him Darkseid looked... small. I wanted him to be bigger, broader, more menacing.
Uh... Martian Manhunter. Cool reveal, very shocking, I was hyped, uh, but did not make a load of sense. Very weird moment. And then when you see him again, and Bruce is like “this may as well happen” lol, omg, how checked out is Bruce?
Lois Lane remains... a limp wet paper bag, and I would have preferred her replaced wholesale with Martha. Love interests being the Thing To Calm The Rampaging Hulk Kryptonian only works if, like, the audience is on board. And I never thought Snyder’s Clark/Lois romance was very strong, because of Snyder’s whole plot-over-character thing, and also I thought this depiction of Lois kinda sucked... But with Martha, you can at least fall back on the cultural concept of a boy’s love for his mother to stand in for weaker character set up, and it would play into that theme of family a lot better.
I don’t know... how to unpack why... the nightmare future injustice dream sequence.... made me physically angry. But man did I not like that. I feel like I manifested a confirmed Robin death... in the worst way possible. Because boy. I HATED THAT.
Oh! Uh, and I didn’t like Barry’s new introduction. I thought it was weaker than seeing him meet with his dad in jail, and it was kind of... off mood. It was really SILLY, and nothing else in the movie was really that tonally silly. Barry was overall treated with more respect in this movie, but it still felt like the movie was somewhat disinterested in Flash’s whole... brand. Barry stuck out a bit as the one character who was overall not really particularly angsty. I will say, I miss the scene from Whedon’s theatrical release of Barry overcoming his fear by taking Bruce’s advice to just save “one” person; that was a good scene and played well into Barry’s youth and inexperience and into Bruce’s history as a mentor and a father. That said, FUCK did Whedon nerf the shit out of Barry’s powers. This boy can TIME TRAVEL.

Day 2: Love Endures Delay
Here is my submission for Day 2 of the WonderBat Key Phrases. @fyeahwonderbat
I can feel his gaze on my back, and I try to will my body not to react to his stare, but it's all in vain. That stare will always get me. A chill runs down my back and I try my hardest not to shiver visibly. I will not let him see what he did, does, to me.
"What can I do for you, Bruce?" I ask. I instantly regret my words as I watch the gears in his mind start to work. Had this been two weeks ago, I would have surely received a flirtatious comment, accompanied by playful banter and welcomed physical advances. But that was two weeks ago. That was before our argument. That was before he made his choice.
He clears his throat and I turn back to face him. "What are you doing here?" he asks, letting my original question go unanswered.
"I made a promise to Lois and Clark," I explain. My voice is harsh and he can hear the hostility I hold behind my words. "And I keep my promises."
He winces as I speak and I instantly regret what I've said. I didn't come here to hurt him. I didn't come here to make him realize it was a mistake. I didn't come here for him. I came here for my friends. I came here to celebrate the marriage and love of two people who deserve a happy ending. I came here to remind myself that love is not dead, that two people who are destined for each other will find a way, no matter the obstacles. But the more I look at Bruce, the more I stare into those beautiful eyes, the more I realize this will be harder than I thought. Seeing Bruce is painful, and I feel more ashamed that I feel this way than I should. I am an Amazon, a warrior since birth. But on the island they didn't teach us how to handle heartache. They didn't tell you how much this could hurt.
"You," Bruce begins, clearing his throat once more. "You look beautiful."
I nod my head. "Thank you," I respond. I can feel my cheeks begin to blush and I try my hardest to keep my composure. I will not come undone by one compliment.
Bruce nervously adjusts his tie, trying to think of what else to say. He watches as I rub my bare wrists, feeling naked and exposed without my armour, before he lets out a small sigh. "I've missed you, Diana," he confesses.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "We're not doing this," I say, pushing the glasses up higher on my nose.
"Doing what?" he asks.
I let out a sigh of my own. "Act like we're okay," I answer. "Partake in small talk when we both know that's not what either of us want to say." I stand up straight and uncross my arms from over my chest, before I turn to glance over my shoulder once more. Lois is coming this way and I don't want her to see what is going on between me and Bruce. As far as I know, no one knows we are no longer together. We didn't want that to be the topic of conversation during this special time in our friends' lives.
"Let's just focus on Lois and Clark" I manage to get out, before Lois pulls the door back and moves into the doorway. "Like nothing's changed," I manage to whisper
"Bruce," she says with a smile.
Bruce's mood changes instantly and he offers her a wide grin. Without a word he takes a step towards her and wraps his arms around Lois, gently placing a kiss on her cheek. "You look beautiful, Lois," he says. His eyes glance up at me and I can see the hurt behind them, but I remain silent.
"Thanks," she replies, her smile widening. "How's Clark holding up?"
Bruce lets out a small chuckle and it's like a thousand swords stabbing my heart. How I've missed hearing that laugh. I miss being the one to bring a smile to his face late at night, after a hard patrol, after one of Gotham's criminals got a way. I miss being the one who made him happy.
"He's nervous," Bruce says. "But I should get back to him before all his pacing creates a hole in the ground." He leans close to Lois once more and places another kiss on her cheek. "I'll see you soon," he says. Lois only nods. Bruce turns his attention to me and without warning leans in and places a kiss on my cheek. I freeze and my shoulders tense as I feel his lips leave my cheek and move to my ear. "Like nothing's changed," he whispers, before he pulls back and stares me in the eye. Without another word he takes a step back and walks down the hall, turning the corner. It is only then I am able to let out the shaky breath I have been holding. "So," Lois begins. There is a grin on her face and I can only guess what her next few words will be. "When will I be invited to your guys' wedding?"
I take a step inside the room and let the door close behind me. If Lois wants a wedding between Bruce and I, then she is going to be sorely disappointed. I don't have the heart to tell her, so I merely shrug and take a seat in the chair near the window.
Lois nods and shrugs. "I get it," she confesses. "When Clark and I first started dating I wasn't sure I would want the whole marriage thing either. But the more I think about it, the more I know there's no one else I would rather spend my life with. I love him, just like I know you love Bruce." She doesn't hear the small sigh I give. I loved Bruce - past tense. "Now, with you guys, it's difficult, because of," she looks over her shoulder and makes sure Lucy is preoccupied with something else. "The League," she finishes, "But you know what they say, 'Love endures delay'".
She watches as I raise an eyebrow, unsure if I believe what she has to say. I've spoken with Aphrodite herself, and now it seems as if the goddess of love has instilled some of her wisdom upon my friend. "You'll get your time," she says, turning to grab her veil. She places it on her head and fixes the lace that falls around her shoulders as I shake my head. If only she knew the truth.
"Are you sure you don't need any backup?"
I smirk as I listen to J'onn. "I'm sure," I say into my comlink. I gently pull my hair out of the ponytail it was fastened into at Lois', and fix the bracers on my wrists, completing my uniform in the shadows. After the party, J'onn had sent out a message stating there were reports of a robbery at the National Bank in Metropolis. I figured I had a few hours until Bruce got back to the manor, so I decided to answer the call, quickly transporting to the Watchtower to change into my uniform, before transporting back to Metropolis.
J'onn lets out a small sigh. "Okay, Diana," he says, unsure if he should let me go in alone. I can handle it J'onn. I'm an Amazon. "They have hostages," he reminds me."
I nod my head, knowing he can't see me, and reach for the lasso attached to my hip. J'onn cuts his communication with me and I am left with the dark silence that fills the alleyway. I carefully fly up to the roof of the building across the street from the bank and stare at the two armed men standing outside the front doors. My mind races as I try to think of the best way to go about this, my fists clenching as I ready my body and mind for a battle. That's when I notice it.
It's subtle at first, but the more I breathe, the heavier it becomes, until the all too familiar scent is filling my nose. "I could've handled it myself," I say, continuing to stare at the robbers guarding the door.
Bruce emerges from the shadows, his gloved hand on his utility belt. He says nothing as he stops beside me. We both turn when we hear Clark land on the roof to my left. "We thought you'd like a hand," Clark says, giving me a wink.
I only shake my head. "You two didn't have to cut your night short."
Clark only chuckles. "Don't worry," he begins, "I think we'd both rather be doing this than be at the bar."
Bruce only grunts, agreeing with Clark's statement. "I couldn't stand listening to his romance ramblings," he whispers. "If I have to hear "love endures delay", one more time, I'm going to punch him." I let out a small giggle as he pulls out a pair of binoculars and takes a look at the bank, stopping to let his eyes adjust when he switches the setting. "There's four more inside," Bruce says as he hands me the binoculars. "They have a group of hostages, five, maybe six."
I put the binoculars up to my eyes and let them adjust to the magnified image of the bank across the street. I can see the two robbers that guard the door, their guns drawn as they keep a look out for anyone that could stop their payday. Inside it is just as Bruce has said. There are four more robbers inside, each with a gun ready in hand. Three of them are pacing the floor, trying to keep themselves and their hostages calm as the fourth fidgets with the large safe in the back of the room. In the far corner is a group of six hostages. They each have their hands bound behind them and their mouths are covered, silencing any attempts at vocalizing their fears. I notice they are huddled together, and when one of them moves, trying to pry their hands from their restraints, my heart stops. In the middle of the group are two children. They can't be more than four. Their eyes are wide in fear and they cry harder each time they move their bound arms. It is then that I realize we need to stop this. Innocent people can get hurt; innocent children could die.
Bruce places his hand on my shoulder and squeezes the muscle he finds, trying to bring me back to reality. He knows there are children there, and he knows how I am about to react. "There are kids in there," I say, my hands clenching into fists.
"Diana," Bruce warns. He tries to stop me once more, but my mind is made.
I fly over to the roof of the bank, gently landing on the glass that shields the building from the night sky. I watch as Bruce shakes his head. The whites of his cowl narrow as he stares at me, before he turns to look at Clark to whisper something. Clark nods and jumps off the roof, landing beside me on the roof of the bank. "He's not happy," Clark whispers. He uses his xray vision to look into the building below us, trying to find the perfect opportunity to attack.
I shrug. "He'll get over it," I say. This is not the first time I have acted before Bruce has spoken, and it will not be the last. I am an Amazon, born a warrior. I've trained for years. It is not in my nature to stand back and be a spectator.
Clark is quiet for a moment. He looks up and locks eyes with mine, nodding once before he zooms off. I barely have time to register the red of his cape flying against the wind before I am crashing through the roof of the bank into the main lobby. I land on one of the robbers knocking him out before he even knows what hit him, carefully jumping in front of the group of hostages. My hands quickly reach out and grab both of the children as the familiar blue blur comes into my field of vision. They are in my arms one moment, the next Clark is rushing them out of the bank and to safety away from the men with guns. The men who have now noticed my presence and have pointed their weapons my way.
My lasso is in my hand before any of them have a chance to react and I throw it in front of me, catching one of the robbers by the wrist. I pull on my lasso, tightening the rope around his wrist, listening to him cry out in pain as he is forced to drop his weapon, before I throw him against the wall to the right. That is two down, two to go.
Behind me I can hear the constant swoosh from Clark picking up each hostage and running them to safety. One of the robbers fires a shot and I make sure to carefully block it with my bracers, letting the 'ping' it sends off echo throughout the otherwise quiet bank.
Clark rushes back into the bank, having left all the hostages in one of the police departments a few blocks south, ready to finish the job and make it back to Lois before she retires for the night. "There is an emergency on the space station." J'onn's voice rings throughout our comlinks and we both freeze momentarily.
"Go," I whisper to Clark, knowing he is one of the few who can make it there with little interference. "I got this." He nods, flashing me a small smile, before he rushes off, flying towards the sky in a red and blue blur that nearly blends into the dark skyline of Metropolis.
I watch as one of the robbers reloads his gun firing another shot towards me. It is easily blocked by the bracers once more and I let out a small chuckle. If this is all they are capable of, I will be back in the manor in no time. I quickly rush up to the man and grab him by the wrist, cracking it just enough to make him drop his weapon with a scream, before I pull him up and into the air by the collar. I am about ready to throw him across the room when something catches my eye. It's Bruce, and he's not alone.
He's dodging a punch from a fifth man, one none of us had accounted for, trying to avoid the brass knuckles on his fists. The man throws another punch, barely missing, however Bruce isn't fast enough and he grabs him by the cape, yanking him back down onto the ground. I am at Bruce's side in a matter of seconds, pushing the robber with my shoulder, watching as he falls back. He grips his side, where my shoulder rammed him, and he howls in pain. His eyes narrow and he lets out a snarl.
"You okay?" I ask over my shoulder. Bruce nods and rubs his neck.
"They work for Bane," he whispers. "Don't let them get into that vault."
I nod and turn towards the two robbers. One is standing in front of Bruce and I, the other is unlocking the vault at the end of the room. Without a word, I rush over to the guy by the vault, slamming my shoulder into the door, trying to keep it closed.
I am rewarded with a knee to the stomach. He hits me in the back of the head with the butt of his gun and I fall to the floor; that is going to be a massive headache later. I throw a punch to the man, watching as he dodges my fist, before he jabs his elbow into my ribs. I fall to the floor, confused. This is an ordinary man, yet he is beating me. Bane must've done something to both he and the man Bruce is fighting.
I look up and notice Bruce is fairing just as terrible as I am. Only thing is, Bruce does not have the strength, endurance, and healing I do. He stumbles forward as his opponent punches him in the back, and his teeth grit in pain as the man twists his arm in a way it should not bend. I regret my decision to be distracted by Bruce when I feel the sharp pain of a blade slicing through my flesh. I look down and take notice of the blade sticking out of my calf. It hurts like hell, and my legs waiver under my weight, but I know I can't let him win. I quickly pull out the knife and toss it aside, before I kick the man down with my good leg. I watch as he falls, hitting his head on the tile floor.
I turn to steal another glance at Bruce, confident that my opponent is still recovering from what should be a nice concussion. Bruce is on the floor, clutching his shoulder in pain. His grappling hook is a few feet from him. He tries to crawl towards the device, hoping it'll help him escape this physical torture, even if only long enough to regain focus once more. He is so focused on trying to reach the item he doesn't see his opponent step behind him. In his arms is a large gun, and I am suddenly very aware of Bruce's mortality. Without another thought I rush over to Bruce's opponent, forgetting about the man I have left laying on the floor, ignoring the severe pain that radiates from my torn muscle. Right now I don't have time to think about myself. Right now I need to save Bruce.
I make it just in time, ramming into Bruce's opponent with all the strength I have. A shot rings out and misses Bruce by millimeters, but I don't have the time to breathe a sigh of relief as his opponent has just become mine. He quickly grabs my ankle and pulls me close, before his hand clamps down on my injured leg. I let out a small groan, forcing myself to stay focused on the task at hand. I knee him in the face with my good knee, watching as he releases my leg and clenches his nose, which has started to spout blood. He glares at me, blood leaking from between his fingers, and his eyes narrow. He takes a step toward me, pulling a knife that has been sheathed inside his belt out, when an all too familiar object is flung across the room and hits him in the knuckles, forcing him to drop the weapon.
I chance a glance over my shoulder and see Bruce standing. He wobbles a bit as he pulls another batarang from his belt and holds it between his fingers, ready to throw it if necessary. He is hurt, but he is okay. That I can live with.
The three of us stare at each other for a moment, trying to calculate how to come out of this fight victorious. It is evident that Bane has been distributing venom to those who work for him, needing the upperhand. I only hope once this fight is over, Bruce and I will be able to stop him before it ruins the lives of countless people.
The darkness of the night is broken when the blue and red flashing lights begin to surround the building we stand in. Metropolis Police have finally responded. I can't help the smirk that forms on my face as I watch the man standing before Bruce and I curse silently. He turns to run at Bruce, knowing he is the easier target, when one of his fellow thieves whistles his way. "We got it," he says, raising his hand to show the man the large jewel clenched between his fingers. "Let's go."
The man wastes no time in obeying orders, grabbing Bruce and flinging him my direction. The Dark Knight collides with me, and had I been uninjured I would have been able to hold us both up. However, I am injured, and my leg waivers again under our combined weight. I collapse onto the floor with Bruce, watching as the men all run out of the bank and into the night, covered by the darkness the shadows provide.
Bruce lets out an audible groan as he rolls off of me and stands, his teeth clenching in both anger and pain. He glances in every direction, trying to find where the thieves have run off to, his hands clenched into fists as his head sways violently. He curses under his breath when he doesn't find any trace of them, and I know he is angry; the clenched jaw and narrowed whites of his cowl give it away.
He turns to me and offers me a hand. "You let them get away," he accuses as he pulls me to my feet.
I wince in pain as I step down with my injured leg, and I watch as he stares at me. He makes no attempt to see how I am doing, his mind focused on the failed mission. I have grown accustomed to working with Bruce and know this is how the Batman works. He puts the mission before anyone else's wellbeing, especially his own. Right now I am not Diana his girlfriend. Right now I am Diana his teammate - the teammate who has failed in his eyes.
"I was saving you," I say. My eyes narrow as I stare back at him. My hands cross over my chest and I stand straighter.
Bruce shakes his head. His eyes wander over the bank, taking in the destruction we, or rather I have caused. "You rushed in and didn't wait for a plan," he says as he walks away from me, towards the opened safe. "You were impulsive," he continues, "And you risked the mission because of-"
"Because of you," I finish for him. "Bruce, he would have killed you," I say, as I take a step towards the man. I follow him to the safe, unaware I am limping as hard as I am, until I take notice of the look on Bruce's face. He quickly snaps out of it, as he turns back to the safe and scans the empty box.
"I would have been fine," he says. I sometimes think Bruce forgets his own limits. He finishes his scan and picks up a hair left by the safe's door. "You could've gotten any of those people killed, including yourself," he says. He turns to face me and takes notice of how red my face is. I can feel the heat spreading from my cheeks to the tips of my ears and I shake my head in an attempt to conceal the anger I feel. No man, no person honestly, has ever been able to infuriate me as much as Bruce does.
"But I didn't," is all I say as Bruce walks away, his head hanging low as he continues to scan the floor of the bank for any clues to identify any of the thieves. He will be working on this for countless nights until he finds answers and our relationship will once again be put on hold until he can solve things. I let out a sigh and shake my head, trying to find humor in the irony of Clark's words to Bruce earlier. 'Love endures delay'. I used to believe in love, that it could conquer anything, but as I watch Bruce continue to work, not bothering to even acknowledge my presence, I begin to wonder if this time we've crossed a line that can't be forgotten.

Random Jon Kent Thought
You know, I understand that Bendis wanted to keep the pace going during his run.  I understand why he did so, but...Jon just spent about 6 years away from his family.  And when the Legion shows up at that particular juncture, it’s to whisk him away for more adventures.  Never mind the fact that Lois and Clark have lost years with their son, crucial years...no, it’s off to the 30th century!
Truthfully, I don’t think anyone would blame Jon if he politely requested that the Legion come back in, oh, a month?  After all, they seem to have this time travel thing down.  He just needs some time with his family to be--well, he’ll never be a normal kid, but he needs to get himself centered again.  And those last 6 years were not happy ones.  He might even request to see a therapist in addition to family time.
Heck, if the timeline were adjusted a bit, Clark might suggest that Jon head to the Sanctuary.  After all, it was created for heroes who were in similar situations.
After a few days, though, Jon would have a few things to say to his parents about the facility.
Jon:  “Mom, Dad--look, I know you mean well, but I don’t think that the Sanctuary is working for me.  Honestly, I’m a little creeped out by all the people in robes and masks.”
Clark:  “That’s for anonymity.  Nobody has to wear the robe and mask.  It’s just for people who don’t feel comfortable with others knowing that they need a little help.”
Jon:  “And...how does that eliminate the stigma of mental health?  I mean, why do you have to keep it all a big secret, anyway?  You told everybody about your secret identity to show that people can trust you.  Why can’t you do that with the Sanctuary?”
Lois:  “He’s got a point.  And honestly?  I’m not too crazy about the idea of recorded sessions.  Too much potential for blackmail.”
Clark:  “The idea was that if no people were involved, then confidentiality could be maintained.  The AI--”
Jon:  “The AI sucks.  I’m sorry, Dad, but it really does.  It’s supposed to be the best of you, Batman and Wonder Woman, right?  Well, all it really does is push our buttons.”
Clark:  “We didn’t want to take the risk of involving anyone with something this sensitive.  Bringing in outside people is...tricky.”
Jon:  “So you can’t find an actual, living, breathing psychologist that you can trust?  I mean, I’m okay talking to Kelex in the Fortress, but sometimes I just want to talk to someone who understands.”
Clark:  “You know, nobody complained about it before.”
Jon:  “That’s because you, Uncle Bruce and Aunt Diana made this.  They think that if you made this, you can’t be wrong.  But...I gotta say, reliving a holographic trauma isn’t really doing me any favors.  I don’t want to relive all that time I was stuck in a volcano, listening to Not-You complaining about everything.  I just...want to move on.”
You know, wouldn’t it be nice if the Sanctuary had been an ongoing thing for the right reasons instead of bad drama?  Having Jon 1) take away the stigma of mental illness for superheroes and 2) suggest an actual, supportive environment with a staff of trained individuals would have made a positive impact.
But, of course, we all know the road that story went.  And it’s a pity that the Powers That Be at DC had to force this into an excessively dramatic murder mystery with the intent of assassinating Wally West as a character.  It’s just kind of a wasted opportunity.
What do you think?

Like there’s cute and sweet feelings in the mix, but also...smut, so if you’re not 18 or more, or if you’re not comfortable with that sort of things etc etc, this story ain’t for you. I have tons of other very SFW story, for averyone to read, and if you wanna check those out instead, it’s right here, on My masterlist blog : @ella-ravenwood-archives.
________________________________________________
Tumblr media
You don’t even remember who started it.
You don’t remember if it’s you who made a snarky comment first, or him.
You both were equally gifted in the sarcasm area, so it really could be any of you. And none of you could actually remember the instigator of it all...
But oh someone definitely started it, and now, you were both sitting on the floor around the coffee table of the living room, a pen in hand, a blank sheet of paper in front of you, thinking about all the people you had sex with.
Or rather, about the people you had sex with and that you both knew.
Who cared about some unknown guy from a bar, or a girl from a gala ?
They meant nothing. They were just pleasure on the spot, something that didn’t matter at all and...to be honest, both you and Bruce didn’t care about those one night stands with people you didn’t give a damn about...You both knew you weren’t each other’s first time after all, and one night stands ? They were long over and there were not nearly as much as everyone thought...Bruce had only a few, and you too. And again, it was such a long time ago, and so meaningless (definitely not your favorite kind of sex, and Bruce would agree with that).
This list was about the people you had sex with, with whom you shared part of your life, and/or someone you both knew.
You knew almost everything about each others, but your past relationships ? You rarely talked about it. You never felt the need to, as you were too in love with each others for anyone else to really matter...
Both of you already stated multiple times, in your long years of marriage, that you never loved anyone like you loved each other. That all those past relationships were nothing compared to what you felt to each others.
But...Curiosity always got the better of the two of you.
And besides, when Bruce learnt that you used to date his best friend, Clark, he started to wonder if you slept with anyone else he knew, after all, you knew lots of Justice League members before knowing him so...He just wanted to know (he would never admit it, but he was quite jealous really. Grumpy Broosh).
And so here you were, after one of you made a comment about it (wether it was you comparing Bruce to Clark or him saying something about Selina, you didn’t quite remember), writing a list. You were writing the last name on yours when Bruce raised his head and, very sternly said :
-I’m done.
You smiled as you finished the last letter of the name you were writing and looked up, smiling at him.
-Me too.
Just another proof of how you were always so damn in sync, finished right at the same time. He doesn’t smile, and you smirk at him as you exchange papers. And...Exact same number than you. You quickly look over it and chuckle a bit, he detached his attention from your list (his frown getting bigger by the second as he was reading it), and, a bit suspicious, says :
-What ?
-Bruce, I think the two of us basically slept with the entire league. We’re super-sluts my heart.
It doesn’t make him smile at all, on the contrary, and you roll your eyes before saying :
-Hey you’re the one that started this.
-No you are.
-I don’t remember starting it.
-You did when you talked about Clark.
-I’m pretty sure you spoke about Selina first.
-No I...
-Listen it doesn’t matter. What I mean is, don't be so moody my Broosh. All those names there, they mean nothing to me. Well, I mean I’m still friends with many of them, and so are you but like...I love you. This is never going to change. I love you more than I ever loved anyone, and the only ones you could be somewhat jealous of are our boys because nothing can compare to the love I have for them. But, romantic love ? Like “I want to spend my life by your side” shit ? It’s you Bruce. It always been you. Don’t feel jealous because they might have had my body once or twice, but you’re the only one that caught my heart so...let’s just have fun ok ? Like I wanna know how it was to have sex with Zatanna ? Did she use magic ?
This makes Bruce crack a smile and...Ok. He could ignore his jealousy, just like you were trying very hard to do. He wasn’t duped, he knew you were a jealous mess right now, but you were right, it didn’t even matter...You loved him. He loved you. Nothing could change that. He shakes his head and says :
-Alright. I love you too. More than you can imagine. If I had to burn the world for you I would. But you already know that. You already know you mean everything to me, you’re the most important (you and the boys) person in my life. You’re the only one I ever actually loved and I just know you’re the love of my life so, I won’t repeat myself again.
-You just did.
-I know. I’ll never get tired to tell you I love you.
-Cheesy fucker.
-Only with you.
-Yes, I bet you weren’t cheesy with...
You quickly glance at his list and, raising an eyebrow you say :
-Lois ?
He smirks at you and explains :
-When I came back from my training, I went to Metropolis to make sure Clark wasn’t a threat and...Well, she was there.
-I bet she was. So wait at that time I was probably...Hey barely finishing middle school. You guys are all so old.
-Oh shut up, you love it.
-Never said I didn’t...Also, since I slept with Clark and you with Lois, we should totally ask them if they’d be into a foursome. Oh and relax Bruce ! I’m kidding ! Kinda...
You approach him seductively and kiss him lightly on the lips but before he can grabs you you pull away, ignoring his groan (and damn the way it was so obvious he wanted to follow after you was hot, but his self-control was even hotter), you went back to your place in front of him, on the other side of the coffee table and took his list again. He took yours and...
-Harvey Dent ?!
You jump at the sound of his voice, not expecting him to speak so soon, and you nod slowly saying :
-Well it was before the all...hum...him becoming completely crazy. He was your friend, you know how great he used to be. Also, seems like even at the time I couldn’t resist justice.
Your own joke makes you chuckle as your husband just roll his eyes at you and adds :
-If I knew you’d do it, I would have added comments too...
-I bet you love it.
-Oh yeah sure, I love to read about what my wife thought of the sex she had with other men. I particularly like you mentioning that “The ring comes in handy” next to Hal’s name.
-Well I’m sorry Bruce, but it does. Have you ever had sex with a Green Lantern ?
-No.
-I’ll steal Hal’s ring to show you what you can do with that thing.
The sultry smile you give him makes him shivers and he turns back his attention to the piece of paper in front of you. He could just imagine your damn smug face and it calmed him down.
A few minute of silence pass as you both scan each other’s list, when you finally break it :
-So...Did Zatanna use magic ?
-No.
-I feel like she missed an opportunity there...
He grumbles an answer and oh you just love this all thing. It’s hilarious to see him so jealous and yet interested at the same time and...Oh you hide your own jealousy and interest way better than he does, which happens so rarely that it’s just too damn satisfying !
His voice brings you back to reality as he says :
-When you write “Hades” do you mean...
-The God of the Underworld yes. Met him while helping Diana do a thing.
-You slept with Hades. The God of the Underworld.
-Mm mm.
-Right. But of course.
There’s a short silence before he adds :
-...And “Constantine” is it...John Constantine ?
-Yup.
-...
-What ? I have a thing for this all dark gothic thing ok ? Besides, I see here you slept with Nocturna so like, I bet you kinda do too. Props to you though, she’s hot.
-The nail marks she left on my back were so much deeper than the one you leave.
-I bet, she has long ass nails...Did she bit you ?
-Yes. Oh yes.
-Hot.
-I know.
You smile at him, happy to see him relax a bit and understanding that...This is the past. It’s ok to talk about the past. It’s ok that you both enjoyed being with other people before because...Now ? They were all long gone from your thoughts. Only Bruce remained in your mind. And only you remained in his.
He smiles back, and your wink kinda drives him crazy but oh he’s decided to show nothing of it and starts reading your list again.
You’re the one, once again, that break the silence again :
-So. You have a thing for kinda...bad girls uh ? Talia, Selina...I bet they were completely wild in the sheets.
-You’re wrong. Talia was super into vanilla sex, I think because she lacked love in her life, and Selina...The wildest thing we ever did was to do it in front of her hundred cats.
You full on laugh at his words and he adds :
-It’s those whom you’d least suspect that are the wildest really.
-So like...Julie Madison ?
He sees you wince a bit at her name, as you knew she was his first love and..well, jealousy overwhelmed you a bit.
-Yes. But believe me, nothing compare to what we did. Like that time we did it with you hung on the chandelier in my office.
You smile and wink some more at him, all thought of Julie Madison gone at the good memories of that indeed very wild night. But you continue :
-Ok but I bet that...hum Vixen and Hawkgirl were quite something ! Oh and Power Girl. Nice tits.
-Yeah. Power Girl gave me a...hum...
-Titty job ?
-...Yes...
-Was it good ?
-Not as good as yours.
You give him a satisfied smile and he smiles back. If he didn’t know that it would make you be very pretentious and that you would never let it go, he’d tell you that the best sex he ever had was with you. By far. But this thoughts are making him think of your body squirming under him and he has to think about something else to resist the urge to jump on you, so he says :
-Hawkgirl’s wings made it a bit awkward sometimes.
-What, she basically had to ride you right ?
-Yes.
-Awww you not being in control made you feel awkward ?
-My love, I often leave you control.
-No, I take it, or you’d always be the dominant one. It’s ok though Bruce, I like it better like that. I’ve always been more submissive anyway...
-Even with Oliver ? I see you put “Green Arrow” down...and seeing him with Dinah makes me think that...
Your laugh stops him and you say :
-Oh yeah no, Oliver is totally the bottom haha ! What about Dinah ? I can see you got with her...
-Yes, before she met Oliver. And hum...Her screams were disturbing.
You snort once more imagining the scene of Bruce using one of his extremely pleasurable signature move on Black Canary and her screaming in his ear...oh damn.
And he can’t help it, he laughs too...and he can’t help but think that this situation could only happen with you. Only with you. Because only with you could it be so natural to speak about past sex and relationship. Only with you could it be totally fine and normal.
Because you were too in love for it to really matter, and this was all part of both your lives...You weren’t each others’ first time. At least, when it came to “having sex”. When it came to “making love”, you were definitely each others’ first time. He never made love to anyone else but you. Because he knew that the only women he truly ever loved was you...He stares at you as your eyes scan his list, just admiring your beauty and...a thought comes to him slowly.
With a smirk he takes his most stoic voice, his “I’m super serious voice” and asks :
-Who’s...bigger ?
You raise your head to look at him and at first, what he’s asking isn’t registering until finally, it does, and you roll your eyes, sigh, and say :
-Really Bruce ?
-Yes. Really.
-Erf. I’m not even gonna answer that, it’s too damn immature.
He holds the smirk he wants to give you, holds it as best he can, before taking an extremely annoying and whiney voice to say :
-Please ? Please ?! Ok never mind...all I wan’t to know is...am I bigger than Superman ?
The sparkles in his eyes make you melt, and oh you wished he would be more often that cheery and silly...And you decide to indulge him :
-...Oh for God’s sake, yes you are. You’re actually bigger than all of them, is your stupid masculine pride reassured ?
-Yes. Yes it is. ...I knew I was the most well hung anyway.
-...Oh my God Bruce...
He chuckles and it’s the most beautiful sound you ever heard, and you can see he’s about to say something but you cut him off :
-Oh wait actually you’re not the biggest one, Plastic Man is. I mean, the guy can extend any part of his body as he wishes so...
Bruce’s smile falters and he just stares at you for a few seconds until he realizes that...of course you’re just messing with him, and with another wink you add :
-But don’t worry, you’re the one that knows how to use it best.
He smiles again until you continue :
-In my top 10 of “best sex ever” you’re definitely holding the 8 first places !
The frown is back and he asks :
-...Who are the two others ?
-Only one person. Clark. He does that thing where he...
-I DON’T WANNA KNOW !
You laugh yet again and the sound of your clear and childish giggle makes him relax a bit, and loose the frown. He shakes his head at your teasing and finishes reading your list. It’s not as bad as he thought in the end...Once again, you break the silence that installed itself :
-Wait, what did you do with Diana ? You just wrote “Wonder Woman : Kiss ++”, what does that even mean ?
-That I kissed her in more than one place...but didn’t like...
-Penetrate her.
-Yes, penetrate her. Didn’t do that.
He says a bit awkwardly.
-Babe, we’re making a list of people we had sex with and giving each other details about it, so like...stop being so prude about it. Especially since I know “prude” isn’t really your style.
You wink at him and oh the effect it has on you, to see his Adam’s apple visibly ‘”gulping” at your words...
-...fair enough. Yes. No. I didn’t fuck her.
-”Fuck” out of your mouth, I’m shocked...
He gives you an exasperated look and with a smile you ask :
-So what did you do ?
-Ate her out.
-Did she return the favor ?
-Yes.
-I knew it, she’s more of a giver really.
-How would you know ?
-Look at my number 14.
He does and...his eyes widen, and he shivers slightly.
-...You ate her out too ?
-Oh yeah. More than once. And we both know now she’s amazing with her tongue.
He makes a strange face and you can’t help but laugh. You approach him again and rub your shoulder against his and, with an over the top wink you raise your eyebrows repeatedly and say :
-Does it make you all hot and bothered ?
-No.
It’s funny, to see him trying to resist you. Trying to act as if he doesn’t feel fazed at all. His short answer and apparent self-control can’t hide the truth for you. You know him. You know he can never resist you much. Besides, the apparent bulge growing in his pants is enough to know he’s lying...
-Reaaaaaaally ?
-Yes.
-Oh.
You make your “oh” sounds so disappointed that it makes him shift on his spot and you just know the effect you have on him, damn minx...You continue :
-Cause imagining you giving a blowjob to Clark gets me all hot and bothered so like, I’d think the thought of me going down on Wonder Woman would have the same effect on you. And knowing that it’s not just a fantasy like me about you and Clark, that it actually happened...The thought of my tongue swirling in...
-Stop.
-Or What ?
He doesn’t answer and you straddle him. He raises his arms and put them away from you, as if he’s afraid to touch you, as if just his hands coming in contact with your body would make him loose his cool. You grind on him shamelessly and he takes a deep breath. With a smirk and the smuggest look you can give him you say :
-Feeling all hot and bothered now ?
-To the extent that it’s painful so just stop.
-...Oh God Bruce, things don’t always have to be painful, just take me already we’ll finish those stupid list later...In fact, at least as far as I’m concerned, I don’t care, because the best one I’ve ever slept with is you, I love you and I...
You don’t have time to finish your sentence. You’re pretty sure he tuned off when you said “just take me” and tried to resist just a few more seconds for good measure...But when he tells you that you’re the only one that ever mattered, and that he loves you more than anything in this damn and crazy world, you realize you’re wrong and it’s not your “take me now” that made him want you, but the fact that he feels love when with you, that you want him for him, that you love him and...Damn he loves you.

Submission for Day 3..more like 3.5. So sorry it’s late and sorry it’s so long.
@fyeahwonderbat
The morning light peaked into the room, the small sliver of sunlight shining onto the face of the room's only occupant, forcing a groan from the woman's lips. She had been perfectly content with the idea of sleeping in, having spent a good chunk of the night on a mission with some of the other members of the League. She had come home , exhausted and sore, and had crawled into bed, intent on waiting for Bruce to return from patrol. However, when she had woken up a few hours later when Bruce had crawled out of the bed to head into work, she knew she had missed her opportunity to see him.
She rolled over, turning to face Bruce's empty side of the bed, her hand coming to rest where he usually laid. Ever since moving into the manor, laying next to Bruce every night had been Diana's favorite thing. She loved watching him sleep, watching how his face relaxed and was relatively more calm as he slept next to her.
She also loved the late night conversations the two of them had. She would occasionally find herself waiting for Bruce to come home from patrol, wanting to know how his day had gone, and surprisingly, Bruce was willing to tell her nearly every detail of his day, and night; there were some things Bruce still felt the need to protect Diana from.
There was a small knock on the door, forcing Diana to open an eye, immediately groaning at the intrusion of the light, before she shut her eyes tightly and pulled the covers over her face. She was still so exhausted and was starting to form a splitting migraine. Surely Alfred would understand she needed a few extra moments of rest.
There was another knock on the door and Diana let out a sigh, knowing it was time to get up for the day. She glanced over at the clock on Bruce's nightstand: 6:12. Maybe she would be able to see if Bruce was available for brunch later.
She quickly tossed the covers off her body and swung her legs off the bed, before she stood, reaching up to stretch her sore muscles. She quickly grabbed the robe that was hanging off the back of the chair near the bed, throwing it over her shoulders and tying it around her waist, before she made her way to the door.
Diana quickly opened the door, fully expecting to see Alfred standing behind it, however her lips curled into a small smile when she saw who was standing in his place. "Hi, Diana, I'm sorry to wake you up…..but you had a package waiting for you."
Tim placed the wrapped box into Diana's hands, smiling when the Amazon gave him a warm smile. "Thank you Tim," she said, her eyes glancing down at the box in her hands. What had come for her, and why was Tim the one delivering it? "Where is Alfred?" she asked, glancing down the hall over Tim's shoulder.
Tim shrugged his shoulders. "I think he had some errands to run, but he should be back soon." With that, Tim walked down the hall and bounded down the stairs, wanting to get a quick breakfast in before he had to run off to school.
Diana watched Tim walk away, shaking her head when he hopped down the stairs. Since coming to live in the manor, Diana and Tim had formed a special bond, and she had come to regard the teen like a son. She loved him, and even if he hadn't told her on multiple occasions, she knew he had felt the same about her.
She quickly retreated back into the room, gently closing the door with her foot, before she walked to the bed and placed the package on top of the mattress. Careful not to rip the bow on the top, she carefully pried open the lid, peaking inside, her smile growing when she saw the dress laying inside.
Diana pulled the dress from out of the box, holding it up to her body, marveling in the light fabric and how it felt against her skin. It was a red summer dress, stopping just above her knees, with two thin straps that were to rest on her shoulders. Diana's smile widened when she realized Bruce must've picked this out a few days ago when she had come home from Metropolis, as she had told him she had spotted the cutest boutique the last time she had gone to visit Clark and Lois.
She carefully placed the dress onto the bed, careful not to wrinkle the item, before she reached back into the box and pulled out the envelope that was laying at the bottom. She quickly opened it and read the words written in Bruce's handwriting, something she had come to familiarize herself with pretty early in their friendship.
I hope you enjoy this dress, Princess. I know you will look beautiful in it, as you do in anything.
With Love,
Bruce
P.S. You look beautiful out of clothes too ;)
Diana let out a chuckle, before she shook her head. She quickly placed Bruce's note back into the box, before she walked into their bathroom, preparing to shower and get ready for the day.
Diana trotted down the stairs, her long hair gently bouncing as she moved. The fabric of the dress Bruce had bought swayed with each step, and she couldn't help but smile when she realized it had been a perfect fit. Bruce truly did know her body more than she thought.
She jumped off the last step and walked towards the kitchen, the smell of a delicious meal wafting throughout the manor. Alfred must have returned to the manor while she had been getting ready. She quickly walked into the kitchen, the sight of Alfred pulling something out of the oven while Tim curiously glanced over his shoulder sent a smile to her face.
"Good morning," Diana said, walking into the room. She took a seat next to Tim on the breakfast bar, gently patting his back as he flashed her a smile. "Don't you have a big presentation this morning?"
Tim settled back in his stool, watching with wide eyes as Alfred popped the freshly baked muffins onto a cooling tray, his mouth watering. "Mmhmm," he said, taking a sip of the orange juice from the glass in front of him. "I'm going to crush it," he said, finally turning his attention to Diana, offering her another smile.
Diana smiled, giving him a small nod, as she graciously accepted the cup of tea Alfred handed her. "Thank you Alfred," she said, before turning back to Tim. She took a small sip of the hot liquid, watching as the butler gave her a large grin.
"You're welcome Ms. Diana," he said, turning just in time to see Tim sneak a muffin from the counter. He shook his head, watching as the teen took a bite of the baked good, his mouth opening when the still hot food hit his taste buds. "I do believe Master Bruce did a good job," he said, nodding at the dress she wore.
Diana looked down at the dress she wore, a smile on her face as she nodded in agreement. "And where is Master Bruce?" she asked, grabbing a napkin and using it to pluck a muffin off the rack in front of her, having learned from Tim's mistake. She quickly pulled off a piece of the muffin and put it in her mouth, her smile growing when the muffin hit her taste buds. Not only was Alfred a remarkable cook, but his baked goods were to die for.
Alfred poured himself a cup of tea and stood across from Tim and Diana. He caught Tim's eyes with his own and raised an eyebrow, to which Tim responded with a slight nod of his head. "Master Bruce had something to attend to," Alfred responded, before he pulled an envelope out of his pocket and handed it to Diana. "But he did want me to give this to you."
Diana grabbed the envelope, carefully looking over at Alfred, her eyebrow raised in confusion. "What's going on?" she asked, watching as Alfred shrugged, before he took a sip of his tea, trying to occupy his mouth . He knew he couldn't lie to Diana, but he also knew he couldn't spoil the surprise Bruce had been working on for the past month. Diana, knowing she wasn't going to get anymore information from Alfred, turned to Tim, who had tensed when he felt her gaze on him. "Do you know anything about this?" she asked, raising the sealed envelope in her hands.
She watched as he cautiously shook his head, his eyes avoiding hers. She noticed Alfred shake his head, telling Tim to remain quiet, before she crossed her arms over her chest. "Timothy," Diana warned, causing the young teen to panic. Diana never called him by his full name unless he was in trouble, and although he wanted to tell Diana what Bruce had planned, he wanted her to be surprised.
Tim quickly shoved the rest of his muffin into his mouth and hopped off the stool. "Presentation. Can't be late," he said in between bites, before he grabbed his backpack from the floor, slung it over his shoulder, and rushed out of the room.
Diana listened as the front door slammed shut, before she shook her head and chuckled to herself. She broke off another piece of the muffin in front of her and placed it into her mouth, turning to glance up at Alfred. "What is he hiding?" she asked, her eyebrows raising, amused by Tim's behavior.
Alfred merely shrugged once more, finished his tea, and placed the empty cup into the sink. "I do believe I should take Master Tim to school." He walked around the breakfast bar and gave Diana another smile, before he nodded towards the small envelope in his hands. "I believe you'll find an answer to one of your questions inside." With that he walked out of the room and out of the manor.
Diana took another bite of her muffin and let out a small sigh, before she ripped open the envelope in her hand, pulling out the note and placing the damaged envelope onto the breakfast bar. She quickly unfolded the paper in her hands, a smile unconsciously gracing her lips when she saw Bruce's handwriting once more.
Princess,
Meet me where we had our first kiss.
And you better be ready to kiss me again.
Love,
Bruce
Diana's smile grew when she read his note, happy to see he had made time to see her today since they hadn't had any time together for the past few days. He had been busy with both Wayne Enterprises and his nightly patrols in Gotham, and she had been working tirelessly with some of the other League members, they had barely seen each other, let alone had a decent conversation, during the last week. She was more than ready to get some quality time with him.
She quickly hopped off her stool and walked out of the room. She made her way to the room where the grand piano was, pushing open the door, before she leaned against the door frame. She remembered when she had first saw Bruce play, how he had amazed her with how skilled he was, and in all the years of knowing him, she wondered how he had been able to hide that part of him for so long. She remembered confessing her feelings to him and his response had been to grab her face and kiss her sweetly, before she laid her head on his shoulder and continued to listen to him play. In the year since that day she had heard Bruce play a handful of times, only feeling inspired when she sat by his side. She didn't mind though. She loved being his muse, and she loved watching him play. A love for music was something they both shared, and she couldn't have imagined a different way for them to have shared a beautiful moment, and a beautiful kiss. But as she leaned against the door, a smile on her face, she suddenly realized something: it had not been their first.
Their first kiss, which had been made during a desperate attempt to hide her and Bruce's identities from the Thanagarian soldiers, had been in an Indian restaurant. She remembered it vividly, and although she had tried to talk to Bruce about it for months after, he had refused to discuss it until they had started dating, when he had told her he had wanted to kiss her again, but he knew they had more pressing matters to attend to in that moment; he had more than made up for it since.
She quickly pushed off the frame of the doorway and turned on her heel, trotting down the hallway until she reached the front door to the manor. Quickly slipping on a pair of heels, Diana opened the door, making sure to grab her purse that had been hanging near the door, and walked outside.
Alfred was still driving Tim to school and she knew he wouldn't be back for another twenty minutes, but she could not wait that long to see Bruce. Instead, she jumped into the air and flew off towards the familiar location, knowing she would be able to see Bruce soon.
She quickly landed in front of the restaurant, startling a few pedestrians, before their eyes grew wide in awe. "Wonder Woman," she heard some of them whisper as she made her way to the front door, flashing them a dazzling smile before she opened the door.
Her senses were immediately assaulted by an assortment of smells and sounds, and her stomach began to grumble, letting her know she should have finished her muffin before she left the manor. She quickly stepped inside, letting the door shut behind her, before she watched the owner walk up to her. "Wonder Woman," he said with a smile, the slight accent in his voice bringing her back to that night over two years ago. "So nice to see you. Come, come. Mr. Wayne is waiting for you."
He motioned for her to follow him into the next room, before he moved aside, allowing Diana to see Bruce sitting at a private table, his phone in his hand as he stared intently at the screen. "Thank you," Diana said to the owner, watching as he nodded before he walked into the kitchen, leaving the Amazon to stare at Bruce.
She watched as he typed something on his phone, his eyes narrowing at whatever he was working on, before he pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. He carefully laid the phone on the table and let out a sigh, before he glanced up and saw Diana standing in front of him. His face immediately lighted up, his lips curving up into a smile when he saw his girlfriend standing a few feet in front of him. Without a word he rose from his seat and opened his arms, his smile growing when she walked up to him and into his arms. "Morning Princess," he whispered, his arms wrapping around her, keeping her firmly pressed against his body.
"Morning," she mumbled against his chest, taking a deep breath, breathing in a mix of his cologne, aftershave, and body wash. It was intoxicating, and until recently, she hadn't realized how much she had missed smelling him besides her at night.
Bruce dropped his head, letting his nose fall into her hair, taking in a deep breath. Likewise, he had missed smelling the vanilla of her conditioner in bed, and having her there in his arms made him realize how he didn't want to go that long without seeing her again. "Sorry I didn't wake you this morning," he said, placing a kiss on the crown of her head, "I knew you were exhausted and wanted you to rest."
He pulled away from Diana, stared into her eyes, and watched her give him a nod. "I appreciate it," she said with a smirk, "But I would have appreciated a kiss more."
Bruce let out a chuckle, before he leaned in and kissed her lips. "How's that?" he asked, pulling back from her face, watching as she scrunched her nose and shook her head, before he leaned down and captured his lips once more, this time moving his hand up to gently cradle her face, using the pad of his thumb to gently stroke her cheek.
He slowly pulled away from Diana, watching as she opened her eyes slowly, the smile on her face too big to hide. "Much better," she whispered, before she pulled away from Bruce and took a seat at the table. "Who was on the phone?" she asked, crossing her legs as she leaned back into the chair.
Bruce took a seat and gently shook his head. "Just work, Princess," he answered, his hand finding hers on the table. "Nothing to worry about." He gently intertwined their fingers, taking a moment to glance over her body, before he gave her a grin. "You look beautiful by the way."
Diana looked down at the dress she wore and gave him a smile. "I think my boyfriend has some excellent tastes," she replied, watching as his grin grew.
"Your boyfriend is a lucky man," he said, before he reached into his jacket pocket. "And he would like to ask you a question." He quickly pulled another envelope out from his jacket and placed it on the table near their adjoining hands. "I have to go away for a bit," he began, watching as her eyes narrowed.
She let out a sigh and bit the inside of her cheek, trying not to show her disappointment. "How long?" she asked. She knew Bruce was a busy man, and running a multi-billion dollar company required him to take frequent, and sometimes long, business trips, but she was hoping she would be able to spend some time with him before either of them had to leave again.
"A few days," he responded, before he pulled his hand off hers and reached for the envelope on the table. "But," he began, opening the envelope. "I wanted to know if you'd like to join me." He pulled a photo from the envelope and placed it on the table, watching as her eyes widened. "It's not Themyscira, and I will still have to have at least one business meeting, but I think a few days in Greece, away from Gotham and the League would do us both some good."
Diana looked up, her eyes meeting his, unsure of what to say. "Bruce," she began, taking the photo from off the table and bringing it closer to her eyes. She remembered the spot fairly well, having spent a few days there last year when the League had helped end a ring of arms dealers. She had loved the small island, feeling like she was back home, and had told Bruce she would have loved to visit once more, but under better circumstances. "I would love to go," she said, "But Gotham, the League-"
Bruce shook his head once more. "Already taken care of," he replied, "Clark says to enjoy yourself. As I'm sure I will enjoy you," he added with a wink.
Diana chuckled and gave him a nod. "Sounds promising," she responded with a wink of her own. She watched as Bruce nodded, his smirk growing as she moved her foot up his leg, startling him. "When do we leave?"
Bruce leaned back in his seat. "After lunch," he said, watching as the owner walked over to their table, his hands full of food. "Alfred has everything already packed and ready to go."
Diana laid her head on Bruce's chest, letting it rise and fall with his heavy breaths. They had arrived in Greece the morning before, and although Diana had wanted to go out and experience the sand between her toes, the sunlight on her face, Bruce wouldn't let her leave the bed of their suite. They had spent the last twenty-four hours familiarizing themselves with each others' bodies, glad to finally spend time together, with no distractions. "This was well needed," Bruce said as he placed a hand under his head, supporting his neck, as he glanced down at the woman on his chest.
Diana turned to face him and smirked. "The sex? Or the vacation?"
"Both." He placed his hand gently on her back and began to run gentle circles on her skin with his finger. "But as much as I'd like to stay in this bed with you, I have a meeting to get to in an hour. And this prospective client is not the most patient."
"That's fine," Diana said, lifting off his body. She crawled off the bed and walked into the bathroom, calling over her shoulder, "Maybe I can meet you for dinner."
Bruce nodded, even though she was no longer able to see him. He quickly reached down and grabbed his phone off the floor, before he opened the last message that had popped up on the screen.
I will be there, but not for you. I'll do it for her.
Bruce walked up to Diana, a smile on his face as he pulled her into his arms. "Glad you found it," Bruce said, kissing her cheek. His meeting had gone a lot later than he had planned, but he knew he would be done in time for dinner. So, Diana had offered to meet him at a nearby restaurant, wanting to finally experience the beauty of Greece from someplace other than their hotel suite.
"It wasn't that hard," Diana said, looping her arm in Bruce's, letting the sleeve of his shirt gently brush up against her bare shoulder. He led her into the restaurant, waving at the bartender as they made their way to the table near the back. "How did your meeting go?"
Bruce smirked, the memory of the past few hours fresh in his mind. "Surprisingly well," he responded. "You look beautiful by the way." He glanced down at the dress she wore, a smile on his face as he took in how the light blue fabric stopped just above her knees, swaying gently with the casual breeze. He would definitely have to pay Alfred and Tim for rummaging through Diana's closet and choosing the perfect attire for their trip….then again, she'd look beautiful in anything.
"Thank you," Diana said with a smile, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "So what kind of business was this?" she asked, watching as he smirked.
"Oh, no more business talk," he said, patting the back of her hand, "Right now, I have a surprise for you."
He continued to lead her to the back, watching as she stopped in her track when she saw who Bruce had been having a meeting with. It had been the last person she had expected to be here, let alone meeting Bruce, but when she saw the blonde stand and take a step towards her, she couldn't help herself.
She quickly rushed into the woman's arms, her face resting in the crook of the blonde's neck, as the tears in her eyes threatening to spill over. "Don't cry my little sun and stars," Hippolyta said, gently patting her daughter's back.
Diana hugged her mother tightly, never wanting to let her go. It had been nearly a year since she had last seen her mother, when she had gone to explain her and Bruce's relationship, knowing her mother needed to hear it from her rather than hear the news elsewhere. Hippolyta hadn't been too happy, in fact, she was downright angry that her daughter had decided to have a relationship with a man, when she was supposed to be working as a hero. She was supposed to be an ambassador of Themyscira, there to help mankind, not run around with men, starting romances and flings with people who did not deserve her time.
Diana had left the island that day heartbroken, wanting nothing more than for her mother to accept Bruce and their relationship, but she knew it would take time. She had been meaning to go back and demand she meet Bruce, allow him the opportunity to show her mother how much they loved each other, and show her what they had was real, but the League and Gotham had kept them both busy.
"How are you here? You left the island?" Diana asked, her eyes wide with realization. She pulled away from her mother and looked into her blue eyes.
Hippolyta's eyes glanced over at Bruce, before she let out a small sigh. "Hermes came to me, saying I was needed off the island. When I arrived with him, he informed me Bruce had prayed to the gods, wanting to get in contact with him, begging to get a message to me." She watched as Diana looked over at Bruce, her eyes widening when she heard Bruce had prayed to her gods. Since the moment she had met him, Bruce had been against the idea of her gods existing. He hated magic, and he never wanted anything to do with it. Why the sudden change? "Hermes showed me how to get in contact with Bruce," she said, flashing the small phone in her hand, her eyebrows furrowed from the frustration with the device.
She watched as her daughter continued to stare at Bruce, her smile widening as she looked at the blushing man. "What are you doing here?" Diana asked, "Why did you contact my mother?" Her last question was directed towards Bruce, and she watched as he shrugged, before he placed his hand gently on her shoulder.
"I wanted to surprise you. I knew you needed to speak to your mother, and I wanted to give you that opportunity," Bruce explained. He watched as Diana continued to stare at him, the tears spilling out of her eyes, and he smiled, before she jumped into his arms and pulled him into a hug
"Thank you," she whispered, before she pressed her lips against his. "I love you, Bruce."
Bruce placed his hand on the back of her head, holding her close, as he kissed her once more. "I love you too, Princess," he replied. He watched as she smiled and placed her head on his chest, before he glanced over her shoulder at Hippolyta.
She glared at him, her eyes narrowing at the sight of his arms around her daughter. He was a mere mortal man, how dare he think he could touch the Princess of the Amazons. "Diana, I would like to speak with you," Hippolyta began, watching as her daughter pulled away from Bruce, her hands remaining on his chest. "Alone," she said, continuing to stare at the duo.
Hippolyta watched as Diana turned away from Bruce to stare at her mother, her eyes narrowing when she realized what she was doing. She was trying to push Bruce away, but she didn't know just how connected the two of them were. "Mother," Diana began, stopping when she felt Bruce's hand fall on her shoulder.
"It's okay," he whispered, his eyes meeting Hippolyta's. "You two enjoy the day together. I'll be waiting at the hotel." He gently placed a kiss on the back of her head, before he walked away from the two and out of the restaurant.
Diana watched Bruce leave, a small sigh escaping her lips, before she turned to face her mother. "I've missed you," she said, watching as Hippolyta cracked a smile.
"I've missed you too."
Diana walked side by side with her mother, smiling as Hippolyta continued to tell her latest news from Themyscira. She hadn't realized how much she had missed home, but seeing her mother, and listening to her talk about her Amazon sisters made her realize how homesick she had truly been. Maybe she should plan on visiting sometime soon.
"So I take it things between you and Bruce are progressing well?"
Diana glanced up at her mother, making sure not to run into a tourist who had stopped to take a photo in front of them. She watched as Hippolyta placed the last of the chocolate in her mouth, a small smile on her face as she savored the last piece of the sweet Diana had introduced her to after dinner. "Bruce and I are great," Diana said with another smile, watching as her mother nodded and let out a sigh. "But that is not why you wanted me alone, is it?"
She watched as Hippolyta crossed her hands behind her back, one hand holding the other's wrist, before she gently bit her bottom lip, contemplating how to move forward with the conversation. After Hermes had informed her that Bruce had requested an audience with her, Hippolyta knew it could only mean one thing: he wanted to marry Diana. She had hoped she was wrong, having wanted Diana not to worry herself with any relationship, whether it be with a man or woman, but when she had seen Bruce in that restaurant, his eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the ring in his hand, she knew she had no such luck.
Hippolyta had asked Hermes to give her any background on Bruce, as during their last meeting Diana had been vague with details of who her beloved was, and he had shown her what he could find on such short notice; she was not impressed. Bruce Wayne, according to the papers, was a selfish womanizer who had too much money to know what to do with. He didn't take things seriously and would always be a party boy. The Prince of Gotham was what the news reports had called him, making Hippolyta scoff and toss the article into the trash, angry with the title; a true member or royalty would never act as he had.
When she had actually spoken with him, and he had told her his intentions of marrying Diana, Hippolyta had shook her head in protest, adamant about keeping her daughter away from such a man. Bruce was respectful, she'd give him that, but he wasn't afraid of her. He had contacted her because he loved and respected Diana, and knew she would want her mother to be a part of this important milestone of her life. She hadn't known just how much he had pushed his pride aside and prayed to gods he wasn't entirely sure he believed in, but he did it for Diana.
"I don't like Bruce," Hippolyta replied, taking another step down the street alongside her daughter. She watched as Diana followed her actions, crossing her arms behind her back, and gave her head a small shake.
"You don't know Bruce, Mother." Diana glanced at her mother, taking in her regal posture as she took another step down the street, unphased by her daughter's rebellious words. "Bruce is much more than he appears to be."
"Ah yes," Hippolyta began, "The Batman." She watched as Diana quickly turned her head to face her, her eyebrows furrowing as she pressed her lips into a firm line. "And what does that do for the two of you?"
Diana paused for a moment, before she let out another sigh. "I fell in love with The Batman, and I fell in love with Bruce," she said, her voice low, trying not to attract the attention of the few people around them. They may have been in another country, but she still would protect Bruce's secret. "The longer I knew him, the more I came to realize they were the same person, and I love both parts of him. He is a warrior, Mother, and he fights for those who cannot fight for themselves." She looked her mother in the eye before she added, "And he treats me more than just another woman. He loves me for who I am, the woman and the warrior, just as I love the man and the mask."
"So you would say yes? You would allow Bruce to be a distraction from your responsibilities?"
Diana raised an eyebrow. "Yes?" she asked, "Yes to what?" She stopped walking and turned to face her mother, letting her arms drop to her sides. "And Bruce would never be a distraction, Mother. Bruce helps me with my mission as Wonder Woman, and I like to think I help him with his in Gotham." Diana watched her mother take in her answer, before she raised an eyebrow. "And what would I have said yes to?"
Hippolyta narrowed her eyes. "Bruce wants to ask you to marry him." She watched as Diana nodded, not fully understanding her words. "He showed me the ring," she said, watching as Diana's eyes widened, finally fully comprehending what she was saying, "And as your Queen-"
"As my Queen, you banished me," Diana said, tears starting to form in her eyes. "I understood why you did what you did, and I am grateful you allowed me back, but-"
Hippolyta placed her hand on Diana's shoulder, stopping the Amazon from speaking, before she wiped the few tears that had fallen from her face. She knew Diana had been hurt, betrayed, by her banishment, but in that moment Hippolyta thought she had done what any good Queen would have. If it had been another Amazon, if it had not been Diana, she would have done it without a second thought, but that day haunted her every waking moment. She had sent her only child away, disregarding Diana's feelings just to uphold the law; she was grateful she had been able to right her mistake, even if it was years later.
"I understand, my child," Hippolyta began, her voice growing softer as the emotions she was beginning to feel began to rise to the surface. "I don't know Bruce, and maybe with time I will come to accept him, but I do know one thing: As your mother, I want only your happiness, and if that is with Bruce, then so be it."
Diana gave her mother a small smile, sniffling as she realized this was her mother's way of giving her her blessing. She may not have liked Bruce, but she was willing to set her feelings aside for her daughter. "Thank you," Diana whispered, rushing into her mother's arms, her smile growing when she felt the Queen's arms wrap around her. "You'll come to love him too, I promise."
Hippolyta chuckled and patted Diana's back gently. "For both of our sakes, I hope you are right." She watched as Diana pulled away from her, the tears now absent from her eyes, before she grabbed her mother's hand gently. "Go on," she urged, "It's late, and I should be getting back to the island. Gods know Antiope will only keep the throne warm for a moment, before she is tempted to go back out and train your sisters."
Diana chuckled and nodded, knowing the Amazon general and her habits all too well. "Safe travels, Mother," Diana said, pulling her mother into another hug, closing her eyes as she smelled the scent of her childhood radiating from Hippolyta's blonde tresses. "May we meet again soon."
Hippolyta nodded, pulled away, and kissed Diana's forehead. "Of course, my little sun and stars," she whispered, before squeezing her daughter's arms, knowing she could not wait until the next time she saw her child.
Diana entered the hotel suite quietly, careful not to wake Bruce should he be asleep. Inside it was dark and Diana let out a small sigh as she gently closed the door. She knew Bruce had wanted to spend time with her on this vacation, but she had been so excited to see her mother, she had spent more time out with her than she should have, ignoring Bruce; seeing all the lights off in the suite made her feel bad that she hadn't let him take her out to dinner like he wanted to.
She walked further into the suite, dropping her purse near the door, before she made her way through the dark room, her mother's words still ringing in her ears. He showed me the ring. Bruce wanted to propose to her, and apparently he wanted to do it soon. He had a ring already, and he had brought it to Greece with them; was he planning to do it during the trip? Or did her mother's reaction to him make him second think his decision; did he even want to marry her anymore.
She quickly shook her head free of those thoughts. She loved Bruce and didn't need a ring to be happy with him. But that didn't mean she wasn't curious. She quickly glanced over her shoulder at the closed bedroom door, making sure the light inside was off, before she made her way to the entertainment center.
Diana had lived with Bruce long enough to know where he hid things, and she knew he would never stay in a place without checking for more hideouts. She quickly rummaged through the drawers, careful not to make any noise that would wake Bruce. When she found nothing, she let out a defeated sigh and stood, before she made her way to the bedroom. She knew there were other potential places where Bruce could have hid the ring, but the more she thought about it, the more she realized she wanted it to be a secret, even if her mother had ruined a big part of the surprise.
She quietly opened the door and peeked her head inside, her lips curling into a smile when she saw a lump on the bed she knew to be Bruce. She silently slipped inside, letting the door shut behind her, enveloping her in the darkness. Careful not to bump into anything, she shuffled across the floor, letting out a small groan when her foot collided with the bedpost.
Her eyes widened as she covered her mouth with her hand, not wanting to wake Bruce, before she exhaled harshly. "I was wondering if your mother had taken you back with her."
Diana jumped, startled to hear his voice. The light near the bed flickered on and Diana saw Bruce turn to face her, a smirk on his face when he saw her eyes begin to wonder over his nearly naked body. "Bruce," she began, trailing her eyes down his body until they landed on the waistband of his boxers; the only item of clothing he wore. "I didn't know you were still awake."
Bruce sat up and shrugged, watching as she took a seat on the edge of the bed, before he rested a hand gently on her thigh. His fingers gently grazed the skin that had exposed itself when she had taken a seat, the dress she wore hiking up on her long legs as she leaned into one of the pillows situated on their shared bed. "I couldn't sleep without you," he confessed. "Besides, I wanted to ask you," he began, his eyebrow raising when he felt her muscles tense under his touch.
Was this it? Was he going to actually propose right now?
Diana watched as he scooted over in the bed, resting next to her, before he chuckled. "How was your time with your mother?"
It was Diana's turn to raise an eyebrow in confusion, as she stared at Bruce, unsure of what to say. Did he know she knew? Was that his plan all along: have Hippolyta tell Diana so she would be anticipating it every second? No, that wasn't it. Bruce loved to have the upper hand. He would not have been able to sit next to her so calmly if he knew she knew.
"It was great," she said, reaching up to pull her hair out of the ponytail she wore. She let her hair cascade down her back and over her shoulders, turning to give Bruce a sultry smile, letting him breathe in the scent of her shampoo. She heard him release a small groan, before he leaned in and placed a kiss on her bare shoulder, letting his hand wander up to the thin strap of her dress. "I really appreciate what you did Bruce." She looked him in the eye, her face softening when she remembered what her mother had said. "Did you really pray to the gods?"
He nodded, his eyes never leaving hers, as he answered. "I did." He paused for a moment, contemplating his next few words, letting his fingers gently stroke her face. He didn't smile, his lips remaining in a tight line, as he leaned in to kiss her lips softly. "I didn't think it would work, but you needed to see your mother, and I wanted to give that to you."
Diana let Bruce kiss her lips once more, gently resting her hand on his arm as he leaned his forehead against hers. "But you hate magic," she said, letting him run a hand through her wavy hair.
"I do," he whispered, "But I love you more."
Diana smiled wide, letting Bruce run his fingers through her hair once more before she let him kiss her lips again, this time lingering a bit longer. She felt Bruce's hand fall to the back of her neck, pulling her close, before she let out a small sigh. "Why the trip to Greece all of a sudden?" she asked, watching as he sighed before he placed his head on her shoulder, defeated.
"Your mother told you, didn't she?" He watched as she nodded, her smile fading as she watched his face. "And what do you think of the idea?"
"Of marriage?" Bruce nodded. "Bruce, I don't want you to feel like you have to marry me to make me happy. I love you and I am happy with you and our relationship and I don't want you to second guess anything." Bruce quickly jumped off the bed, switching on the light, before he searched the floor for his discarded pants. "Bruce," Diana said, standing from the bed as she saw him grab his pants. Was he leaving? Had she scared him off?
She watched as he walked to where she stood, the pants in his hand, before he rummaged in his pocket and pulled out a small box. He looked up at Diana, watching as she took a seat on the edge of the bed, the realization suddenly hitting her. "You were going to propose tonight," she whispered, watching as he nodded, gently turning the box in his hand as he dropped the pants back onto the floor. "Why didn't you say anything?"
Bruce shrugged. "I could have planned another proposal, but you weren't guaranteed another visit."
Diana stared at the man as her heart beat a little faster with his confession. He had thrown away all his plans to propose, something he had probably worked on for weeks, all so she could have a few hours alone with her mother. Gods, this man was truly amazing, and she loved him dearly for everything he did for her.
Her eyes trailed down to the box still settled in his hands, the corners of her lips turning up into a smile. "Yes," she said, watching as Bruce raised an eyebrow.
"Yes?" He watched as Diana's eyes glanced towards the box in his hands, before he chuckled. "I haven't asked you anything yet."
"Well then ask me," she said growing impatient and anxious.
Bruce shook his head as he continued to laugh. "So impatient," he said, before he lowered himself down onto one knee. "Diana," he began, grabbing one of her hands, "I love you, and I wish I could have given you a big and grand proposal, but I can't wait to ask you this. So, Princess, will you marry me?" He opened the box, revealing a beautiful ring. The princess cut diamond sparkled in the light, and Diana didn't realize she ever find a piece of jewelry so magnificent.
She looked into Bruce's eyes, her smile widening. She took in Bruce's attire and chuckled to herself, suddenly not caring that he was proposing to her in his boxers, in their hotel room. He could have proposed to her in a broom closet and she would have thought it was perfect. "Yes," she exclaimed, jumping into his arms. She placed her lips onto Bruce's, smiling against his lips when she felt his arms wrap around her waist.
"I think this is for you," Bruce said, pulling back from Diana just enough to slip the ring on her finger. He placed a kiss on the back of her hand, smiling when he realized the most beautiful woman in the world had just agreed to be his wife.
"It's beautiful Bruce," Diana whispered, lifting her hand to get a better look at the ring. She placed a kiss on his cheek, before she moved to kiss his lips, smirking when he pulled her into his lap. "You brought my mother here to ask permission?" she asked as she felt Bruce's hands roam over her body.
Bruce scoffed, before he placed a kiss behind her ear, watching as she shivered before he kissed her neck. Batman didn't ask anyone for permission to do anything, but this was Diana. He was going to do anything he could for Diana. "Not permission. Just her blessing."
Diana nodded before she ran her hand through his hair, listening to Bruce release a small growl as his hands gripped her thighs tightly. She felt his lips continue to kiss her neck and she knew there was no other place she would be than here with her fiance. She couldn't wait to marry this man.
