Tumblr is like "isn't it weird that Christians never think about this fairly obvious implication of their own theology?", then proceeds to independently re-invent an eight-hundred-year-old heresy that caused three separate wars.

Red State extreme ideology is barbaric.
In good faith, you could tell Tate Reeves how nutrition helps children, you could talk about Jesus feeding the masses with loaves and fishes, and Tate would not care.
Tates' religion is of cruelty and suffering. Tate knows vulnerable children and their parents are not his donors or members of his country club circle. His racism is his design.
His 'welfare state' dog whistle is evidence.

Extra cartoons all month long!
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In the trial of St. Joan of Arc, many stories about her life were brought up during her questioning. Her accusers sought to use these stories to prove she was an evil witch, or at least a heretic. This cartoon exaggerates their mischaracterizations to a radical degree. This is a manipulation tactic to entice readers into joining me for a month of extra cartoons, in which we'll explore Joan's version of the stories behind each insane accusation. 2. Severed heads with dog bones sticking out of the neck will never not be funny to me. 3. The only way you can tell it's a baby is because of the single twirly hair.

i’m helping out my partner by running video for her ch*rch. most of it is sitting around and waiting, so i’m falling back to my go-to activity when left unattended around a bible: speedreading mark (heretical opinion it’s the only gospel worth reading) (can i still be a heretic if i’m an atheist)
anyways all this to say: the online bible their streaming service uses puts the Word Of Jesus in bright red. which is cool and all but the only thing i can see is dave strider son of god

"Is X a sin/heresy in Christianity?"
Literally which sect of Christianity are you referring to? And why don't you just ask them? Most Christians are pretty willing to talk about this kind of thing, if they don't just have websites or other media that tell you straight-up.

What's up chat! My sermon today is on the 10th Commandment: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's crib, nor his rizz, nor his drip, nor his whip, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

“Americans, steeped in the ideal of religious freedom, take it for granted that orthodoxy without room for heresy is dangerous. Think of the Inquisition, they say, or the trial of Galileo, or (a little closer to home) the Puritan witch hunts. Yet heresy without room for orthodoxy turns out to be dangerous as well. Many of the overlapping crises in American life, from our foreign policy disasters to the housing bubble to the rate of out-of-wedlock births, can be traced to the impulse to emphasize one particular element of traditional Christianity—one insight, one doctrine, one teaching or tradition—at the expense of all the others. The goal is always progress: a belief system that’s simpler or more reasonable, more authentic or more up-to-date. Yet the results often vindicate the older Christian synthesis. Heresy sets out to be simpler and more appealing and more rational, but it often ends up being more extreme.”
Ross Douthat, “Bad Religion”

Huh, today I learned that in 1677 the Catholic Church had to condemn the belief in the virgin birth of Mary as a heresy

The problem with studying Catholic heresies is that they literally made a hobby out of inventing fully realised heretical theologies in order to accuse each other of subscribing to them. Basically every single one comes with a big asterisk noting that it's unclear whether anyone ever actually believed this, or whether some random theologian just made up a guy to get mad at – and the worst part is that you absolutely cannot tell just from looking at them, because the heresies we do have evidence of actual practice for are, if anything, even weirder. Like, the guys who thought Jesus was a hologram were 100% real, so you can't rule anything out!

Heck I just realized a thing about Anakin in fic. He's the anon in this post.
[ignore the sex mention in the post, it's unrelated to anything but unfortunately happens earlier in thread than the funny, relevant bit]

Fic Anakin: I have come up with a new approach to Jedi philosophy! The Jedi: [have existed for tens of thousands of years and have definitely covered this ground before]
Or as @whymylifewrites put it:
fics where anakin discovers a new and exciting way to think about/use the force except this time obi-wan is standing off to the side like "i knew you were lying when you told me you did your Jedi Philosophy 101 homework"
