They are the definition of If you jump, I jump, Remember?⚘
Tumblr media
If there's one thing I value it's the musical sequences, when they're just happy, playful and able to be themselves, and there are more healthy moments they've had in recent episodes that are truly enjoyable. If in the first seasons they were competitive and rivals, I knew that there was going to be a point where they would have to develop their relationship, and if it is happening, now we have seen Blaze and Crusher share common interests, for example a love of racing, Incredible things, sweet flavors, we saw these guys achieve their goals as a couple, support each other, listen to each other, and admire each other. Now we will see what happens in season 8.

Enterprise-D crew’s favorite Taylor Swift albums because I’m annoying like that:
Picard-folklore. Intelligent, literary. Appreciates evermore, but prefers that Folklore is a bit tighter and put together. Listens to it in order, no skips, because he sees it as a complete story. song(s): exile or last great american dynasty
Dr Crusher-Midnights. Loves that it switches between super fun songs and more poignant moments so she can listen to it in different situations. Also she’s not called Blazing Bev for no reason, and Midnights is the most stoner friendly album. Cannot listen to Bigger than the Whole Sky without crying. Favorite song(s): Snow on the Beach or Bejeweled
Troi-evermore. Loves the flowy lyrics and instrumentals, but appreciates the emotional impact. It’s little dramatic and personal. She relates to a lot of it, and I think she also appreciates the literary references. Favorite song(s): cowboy like me or ‘tis the damn season
Tasha Yar-Reputation. While she likes the more intense, fun songs, she really appreciates the more tender love songs. It’s tough on the outside, sensitive on the inside. Favorite song(s): Getaway Car
Worf-Fearless. Probably claims it’s Reputation, but it’s not. Worf is also a “tough on the outside, very sensitive on the inside” person. It’s idealistic and pretty straightforward with the emotions, which he appreciates. He’s also a hopeless romantic. He thinks of the Rozhenkos when he listens to The Best Day, will not admit it. Favorite song(s): Love Story
LaForge-1989. Fun, vivacious, bright. A crowd pleaser. Definitely a great choice to play during late night engineering shifts. It’s also a bit wistful and romantic, and hopefully optimistic. Favorite song(s): Style and I Know Places
Riker-Lover. It’s upbeat and fun, confident. Secure enough in his masculinity to fully admit he likes it. Unironically likes Me! Favorite song(s): False God and Cruel Summer
Data-Speak Now. He appreciates how it discusses a wide range of human emotions in a very personal way. It also covers a couple different genres from pop, to country, to pop rock. Favorite song(s): says he doesn’t have one, but it’s Back to December
Wesley Crusher-Red. Smart, but in a way that’s very youthful and immature. He likes the drama of it all, as well as the aesthetic. I think he also relates to a lot of it, it’s a coming of age album. Favorite song(s): All Too Well (ten minute version) and Nothing New.
Guinan-folklore. She likes the timelessness of it, but unlike Picard, she appreciates every song for it’s own thing. She also appreciates the drama more than he does. Favorite song(s): illicit affairs. Also, she definitely attended Eras tour.
Ro Laren-Debut. It clings to a childlike innocence that I think she appreciates. She also likes the angst and sarcasm of some of the songs. Favorite song(s): Our Song and A Place in this World
Q-Does not have one, doesn’t care. Tells Picard his favorite song is Thug Story or Three Sad Virgins to piss him off.

I For Instincts
Contrary to belief, Phoenix Dominion y Jimenez isn't a fool.
She was made as an experiment, the "humanised" version of a fire phoenix, the last of her kind. She wasn't human at all. She couldn't understand human emotions all the time.
But she did understand two things.
One, someone's cry for help.
And two, a mother's instinct.
The moment she came to the apartment, she felt something was off immediately. Her husband and their daughter picked it up much later, but she knew it immediately.
Then she went face to face with Crusher and Blaze. Blaze felt happy, but Crushed radiated another energy.
Phoenix looked over and found him covered in concealer. Different types to make sure they matched his skin.
Her eyes met his, and they looked tired. His eyes had eyebags beneath, indicating how exhausted he was. And his eyes in general, they looked off.
There was no spark of light he used to have.
That didn't look good.
But she said nothing and continued to shower Blaze with praises.
She knew Flame and Sparkle picked it up and went to action to keep things under wraps.
A poor effort, honestly, but at least they're trying.
Later that night, Flame had Blaze distracted while Phoenix went to Crusher. She wanted to talk to him about something.
She knew Flame and Sparkle thought it was about the engagement but it wasn't.
She came in to see Crusher frozen in place as he placed on the concealer on the now visible scars. He was trembling before he went on his knees, begging to not tell Blaze.
Oh…
Oh, poor child…
Phoenix closed the door before rushing to hug him.
It's gonna be okay…
Crusher cried harder until he was violently breaking down. Phoenix hugged him closer.
Blaze…
Her eldest, smartest and most trustworthy son…
How could he have done this?
Crusher was a horrible cheater, but he didn't deserve this.
He didn't deserve any of this.
Crusher passed out from crying, and Phoenix helped him ok not his bed. She made the tears evaporate before gently pressing on the bruises.
Some looked old…
Some looked fresh…
Some were cuts that were bleeding…
Others were burns… 1st degree burns…
Phoenix hissed and gently healed as much as she could.
Blaze…
He did… all of this…
She scowled, eyes gleaming gold.
She didn't care if he is her kid.
This is abuse.
He will get the Karma he deserved.
She'll make sure of it.

Fun New Current Fivzen Show/Story Timeline!
Heroictopia is a universe that up until the 1800's was pretty similar to our own, but then just got a RUSH in technological advancements, getting smartphones by 1850's. Soon, they discovered the ability to peer through other universes, and they became obsessed with Tech based heroes. Whether it was armor, or they were made in a lab, or they transformed, they Loved it. The planet began to base it's entire society on it. If you weren't a hero, you were just someone to be saved.
The world soon became governed by a council of Heroes from around the world, with a higher power a ove that being twelve specific heroes responsible for Visibly saving the entire planet at least once or more. Peace was basically There. So, they started sending heroes to other dimensions, basically as "If you have an Evil Infestation, we'll kill them for you."
But soon, the tops became worried their peace wouldn't last forever, so they began work on creating the Ultimate Hero. A person uncorruptable, a person to idolize, a person to worship.
So, they try growing it first, but when it goes rogue (focuses more on the fight instead of saving, in their eyes) they throw out their creation. But he remembers, and Absoluman grows with hatred, idolizing heroes who become villains.
They build the next one. When it lacks the emotions they seek, it is scrapped. Absoluman revives it, and Kamen Crusher learns their first new emotion: Rage.
Next, a scientist offers to be modified. For a while, she is the closest they get to Perfection. But she has a family, and they decide to forgo her for her soon to be born child.
But she doesn't birth one, she has twins. The two are quickly separated, and the father takes one away, forced to leave his wife and other child. (The government watches him, they will need the other child at some point.) [9:46 PM] So, the two raise their children separately, and one day, of free volition, they both decide to be girls. And things are okay... Somewhat.
But one day, a test is too much. The mother has enough, enough of these tests, enough of her being harmed, enough of her daughter being harmed, enough of this WORLD.
She escapes with her child in tow, HellRanger and daughter Heavy Rock leaving a blazing lab in their wake.
All that is left is the twin raised by the father, quickly taken away, and stripped of her childhood. She grows up. She's strong, fast, and has the emotions and morals the government wants. But she still needs field experience. So, they let her free, and tell her to Do something.
So, she does. She gets a modeling job, she helps around the city she lives in, and she exists. But soon, the past experiments re-emerge, and sow chaos in their wake. They tear out people's favorite heroes from their hearts and turn them into twisted, ugly versions of themselves. The remaining twin, Fivzen (Five/Fifth and Zenith meaning the Ultimate) is made to fight.
And she does. She destroys the monsters, but never the other experiments. Until one day, she is forced to. Against her will, she punches through Crusher's throat, killing them. She collapses and sobs, but Crusher never blames her. They comfort her in their last moments, before shutting down for good.
She is forced to kill again, when Absoluman is kicked through the heart, and he too comforts a broken child as she holds a dying man in her arms. [9:46 PM] Eventually, she is ordered to kill Heavy Rock, her sister... But she stops. She resists, using all the power she has in her heart, she cries, and screams in pain, and instead of killing Heavy Rock, she breaks her armor, and reaches out her hand. If she is to be a hero, she will be a redeemer.
Heavy Rock is spared, and becomes her ally, her friend, her family once more. She becomes SoundOut, a hero of music and second chances.
Another hero, from a world where she let all her villains die, emerges, attacking Fivzen and SoundOut. She calls herself WaveBat, and she is their rival.
Until one day, the child of one of her victims tries to kill her, but Fivzen saves her, by getting shot. From here on, Wavebat swears to atone for her sins, and fight alongside Fivzen.
And so, for a time, the fight is easy. It's only the mother left... Until she forces WaveBat's favorite hero to emerge as their shattered counterpart. And WaveBat's hero... Is Fivzen.
A twisted, bloodied version of the girl emerges, calling herself Zeroend (Zero being both the number and teasing nickname of a hero, end as the last major threat). If Fivzen is the Ultimate Hero, she is the Ultimate Villain.
She plays with the heroes for a while, before deciding to end the world. The three stop her, of course, but when she dies, there is still HellRanger. [9:46 PM] HellRanger says if she lives, there will never be peace. Heroictopia will forever be riddled with her undying hatred. So, she asks her daughter one last request: Kill her, and live life.
Fivzen is quiet, the other's refuse, but Fivzen accepts. But not because she was asked to, or was forced to. But because she's tired of this all. She doesn't care a out being the ultimate, she doesn't care about killing, she doesn't care. She just wants to help people, because that's all she wants. So, if killing HellRanger brings her peace, she will.
And she does.
As Fivzen and SoundOut hold their mother in their laps, she clicks a button, and releases all of the files related to the experiments of the Ultimate Heroes over the years. The world is forced to face their errors, and HellRanger dies happily.
The Government ends all experiments, and goes to relive Fivzen of duty... But she's gone. Left to be free, and be her own version of a hero in a world she feels happy in. And one day, she finds a group of heroes, and she helps them, and she finds love, and she grows up, and she Lives.
And one day SoundOut leaves too, with her father, whether to find Fivzen or their own home.

Alright, Crusher, I got an ask for you, since I'm curious: What's the angriest you have ever seen Blaze that wasn't directed at either you or the kids (for example, angry at Speedrick, Pickle, etc.)?
Crusher:When he was angry at his parents. OH- That was terriffaing to witness. Like- danm that was the most sadest, most anger intusing moment for both me and Blaze, and for eny who was around to witness the mess Blazes parents are. Jesus it was a mess

While MLB and VLD both have issues with diversity baiting I think VLD has more issues with nostalgia bait and referencing it’s 80s counterpart (granted MLB doesn’t have an 80s counterpart to compare it to)like the Sven cameo in an alternate reality was fine, but when it introduced Romelle or had Pidge cosplay as her 80s version it started to feel like “hey remember this character or moment from the 80s show you should like it because we referenced it” without it having payoff or reason to exist
Unfortunately, that’s a thing reboots do in general.
I like Star Trek, but I’ve rolled my eyes a few times whenever a legacy character makes an appearance. It just makes the writers seem insecure that their characters can’t hold a show on their own, so they need to bring in characters people actually like in order to get more Paramount+ members.
We’ve had four new shows in the past five years (Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks), and all of them heavily involve older characters in some way.
Voltron is the same, as there were minor moments that felt less like fanservice and more like pandering, like when Voltron used its iconic Blazing Sword exactly once, and never again, and like you said, only introduced Romelle for two things: Fanservice, and to expose Lotor.
If you want to include fanservice, you need to make sure your product can stand on its own, and unless the story calls for it, use it conservatively.
Discovery’s main character is Spock’s adopted sister who, much like his dyslexia, has never been mentioned once in any episode or movie prior, and the second season gave focus to Captain Pike
Picard is obviously a sequel to The Next Generation following former Admiral Picard teaming up with Seven of Nine and running into other characters like Riker, Troi Data, Icheb, and even Hugh
A big part of Lower Decks’ storyline revolved around a main character temporarily serving abord Riker and Troi’s ship, and said main character later gets to meet Tom Paris from Voyager
Right out of the gate, Prodigy has a hologram of Captain Janeway act as the mentor to the kids abord the Protostar, and a later episode has a character running the Kobayashi Maru simulation on the Holodeck with a crew consisting of holograms of Uhura, Scotty, Crusher, Odo, and Spock, with almost all of their dialogue being reused from earlier episodes and movies. Although it at least made sense here as this show was aimed at children, and was most likely their introduction to Star Trek as a whole. Plus, Holo-Janeway is a blast to watch.

i’m genuinely confused by mama midoriya haters. I keep seeing all these fucking posts about how if they had been inko they would’ve dragged izuku’s ass outta ua at the first drop of a problem,,, but like,,, you do realize she was gonna do that but backed out because of izuku? I understand that at least with my culture, my parents probably wouldn’t give a rats ass about my opinion when it came to my safety, but you can’t be applying modern logic to bnha.
my long ass opinion is below the cut, beware lol.
midoriya inko carries great guilt for how she treated izuku. it’s not to say shes a bad mother; honestly I adore her and how much she supports izuku, but there was a time where she was most likely numb. the scene in which she apologized when izuku asked if he could be a hero instead of saying that despite his quirklessness caused her great grief and guilt. if i’m not mistaken, and sorry i’m merely recalling on my memories, it’s a major factor in her weight gain over the 10 years izuku was quirkless.
mothers, in an ideal setting, should be a child’s greatest supporter. no matter how out of reach, stupid, or childish it may seem, they should support their child. in a crucial moment in izuku’s time, she failed to do so, and knows she did it in more ways than one (genetic failure & reassurance failure). it seems even when he’s 14 shes still hesitant and not supporting izuku’s dreams because I mean,,, yeah, she does have a point to not believe in him.
our version of hero isn’t the same as theirs.
a hero is a profession that requires you to have a versitle quirk in order for it to work. so yes, for all you “izuku should’ve stayed quirkless because that would’ve been a cooler story,” shut up, no it wouldn’t have. it would’ve been super strict in how it was presented; moreover, izuku wouldn’t have lasted past the USJ arc. it’s like, for instance, your child saying they want to become a broadway star but possess no dancing or singing or acting skills.
she wants to support him, but knows she shouldn’t.
so when izuku “manifests” his quirk and is suddenly 100% okay and “normal” shes struck with even more guilt because she’s never believed in him. her son, her baby, her child whom she loves to the end of the world and back, never once gave up on his dreams despite her probably nighttime prayers that he does. not only does he manifest a quirk, he gets into the most prodigious school in japan.
she thinks izuku is damn fucking cool and awesome because he did that all on his own. she didn’t support him (i mean look at all the shit he’s gone through? she’d be crazy to think he’d be able to survive) and we as the readers can’t blame her.
then we get the USJ arc, the sports festival, and the mall encounter with shiggy and inko has already had enough. she warns izuku to stop it, that she can’t take this stress anymore because she could handle the fights her quirkless son used to get into. she could handle that because people pull their punches and he never fought villains, simply bullies. but now he’s fighting villains. these people won’t pull their punches, heroes still in canon die from villain attacks despite all might, and izuku has a self sacrificing streak that has been blazing a million feet high since he was 4 years old.
but we must remember that there’s guilt in her still. she trusts izuku when he says he won’t make her worry anymore because this isn’t her dream. izuku put in a goddamn lot of fucking effort to get where he is right now. izuku did not ever once loose faith in his ability to be a hero, whereas she did. she never believed in him before, and now izuku stands before her, declaring he’ll be fine and she caved. she caved because this is her baby’s dream, and inko is not a dream crusher.
but, she does have her limits and we see this why after the training camp arc. she won’t let izuku into the dorms which then implies that she’s pulling him from UA. she tells izuku why can’t he pick any other hero school, there’s more schools than UA, and he sure as hell will be fine going into any one of them. but again, that guilt, the sadness, the desire for her son to be happy and choose what he wants in his life which is something izuku hasn’t had control in for awhile (plus THE all might getting down to his knees and begging, pleading for her approval doesn’t hurt!). inko caves again because just like her son, she’s gentle, caring, and wants what’s best for the other person even if that means she gets hurt.
post move in, we don’t really see inko until this latest arc (not including the endeavor internship arc where inko and izuku have a heart to heart) but without a doubt, with no spec of doubt in my mind, she’s not going to cave this time. there’s just no way.

Like Any Other Day with my Boyfriend 17
Snippets of Blaze, Crusher, and friends about their everyday life and how they do in a relationship.
Characters: Stripes, Zeg, Darington
BATMM Human!AU
Dating wasn’t really a priority of Stripes. He had animals to take care of, a sister to send money to, and a business to run. Dating sometimes crossed his mind, but he never went through with it.
Zeg started working in his animal center for a few months now and Stripes was glad he had extra help. Zeg helped a lot with the heavy-duty and when Stripes couldn’t come, Zeg took care of the animals. Stripes was scared that Zeg might accidentally hurt an animal when he wasn’t there, but Zeg disproved his worries when he took care of a dog’s injured leg. The bandage was a little sloppy, but Stripes was glad Zeg was at least gentle.
Zeg has gotten better at nursing injured and sick animals and often spent his work time there just playing with them. Stripes didn’t mind as long as he helped him with the deliveries, and really, Zeg playing with animals was really cute.
Then, Zeg started dating Darington. He and their other friends really had no problem with that. They were happy, Zeg keeps up with his schedule, and Darington has a nurse ready at any moment. Stripes had no problem with this and he was sometimes happy to see Darington volunteering in his animal center from time to time.
However, there was a constant problem with Darington’s visits.
Darington had fans coming in and out of the store and asked if they sold any Darington merch, which they didn’t. Some of those fans even take pictures of and with the animals, which made the animals really uncomfortable and Stripes was afraid that the flash was hurting the critters.
There would also be Darington’s clumsiness. He would trip on air and risk the deliveries getting broken, he would run to see the new baby rabbits and accidentally spilled all their water, and the goats just hate him and Stripes once came back to Darington positioned in a fatal pose with his shoelaces untied and hoof marks all over the room, and there was even in the ceiling! (He is not going to ask how Darington managed that.)
And lastly-- well, technically, this is more of a personal bias than anything-- Darington and Zeg would not stop flirting. It made Stripes severely uncomfortable and he was afraid that Zeg would get distracted. But none of his employees really complained about them and only commented that they were “cute”, and since Darington started coming here, Zeg worked twice as hard as before.
Maybe it’s the reminder that Stripes doesn’t have a significant other like Darington that made him uncomfortable. Maybe it’s just the reminder that he’s already in his twenties and hasn’t had a lover in like… What? Since he was 14? Uuuugh.
“... Maybe I should try it out…” Stripes muttered as he opened his laptop and clicked on the old link Starla sent him. It was a dating site.

Sonic Heroes: Sweet or Shite? - Part 1: SILVER
There are some heroes I like. And there are some heroes I don’t like. But why do I feel about them the way I do? That’s where this comes in.
This is a series in which I go into slightly more detail about my thoughts on the heroes in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and why I think they either work well, or fall flat (or somewhere in-between). I’ll be giving my stance on their designs, their personalities, and what they had to show for themselves over the course of time. Two things to keep in mind:
1. These reviews will be focusing mainly on game portrayals. Though alternate media will occasionally be mentioned, it'll be for the sake of adding onto a point if a portrayal is similar enough, or to compare and contrast if a portrayal is different enough.
2. These are just my own personal thoughts. Whether you agree or disagree, feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions! I don’t bite. :>
Anyhow, for today’s installment, I decided to challenge myself by starting off with a complicated one. Born from the future, and never content to stay put in said future, it's the saviour whose debut came from the most unfortunate game... Silver the Hedgehog.
Tumblr media
The Gist: Once upon a time, in the distant future, there was an idealistic young hedgehog named Silver, gifted with the power of telekinesis for reasons unknown. With his amazing potential, he was truly destined for a wonderful, prosperous li-just kidding, it was shit.
Tumblr media
“All two of us.”
For as long as he knew, the world was forever plagued by Iblis, the terrible Flames of Disaster. Cities stood in ruin, flames stood high, the floor was lava... it was a bitter life to be certain, all thanks to Iblis. Not even defeating the titular creature did much good, since it would simply come back to be a shitty boss fight another day. What was he - and his friend, Blaze, a character we definitely never saw before and definitely didn't have a completely different backstory before - to do?
Trust the first person he sees, of course. Even if they look like they might be related to the same Flames of Disaster that he fights so constantly.
Tumblr media
If he had eyelids, he'd be winking at the camera.
This mysterious fellow, Mephiles the Dark, informed Silver that if he were to wipe out Iblis for real, he would need to take a trip into the past, and eliminate the root of the problem... Sonic the Hedgehog? That was what Mephiles claimed, yes. What was his proof? There was no proof.
That was good enough for Silver.
Tumblr media
Oh look, it's Fleetway Sonic.
After an elaborate series of events, which should sound exciting but really isn't because it was just Silver going “Iblis Trigger grrr” in varying tones of voice, he was finally able to corner the blue hedgehog... twice! And despite having less fighting know-how than the hero who saved the world plenty of times, he effortlessly came close to killing the blue hedgehog... twice!
Tumblr media
This looks like a jobbing for...
Why twice? The first time was halted by Sonic's friend Amy Rose, who Silver had met beforehand after she mistook him for Sonic, an understandable mistake that even the keenest of eyes would be forgiven for making.
Tumblr media
The second time was also interrupted, this time by Shadow the Hedgehog. There's only room for one controversial non-blue male hedgehog in this franchise, sonny boy. Actually, his reasons were more benevolent than that: he wanted to show Silver the truth about what was going on, by time travelling to the incident that gave birth to Iblis. Why was one able to to this, so long as more than one Chaos Emerald was present? No one knew.
That was good enough for Silver.
Tumblr media
“I challenge you to a dumb-off.”
As it turned out, Iblis was one half of a sun god called Solaris, the other half being the aforementioned Mephiles. The Duke of Soleanna wanted to reunite with his late wife by harnessing Solaris' power, which succeeded from a certain point of view since he's dead now too. The resulting blunder split Solaris into two halves. One half was all brawn, with little capacity for intelligence. The other half was Iblis.
Understanding the error of his ways, and after making peace with Sonic, Silver went back to the future to try something different, which consisted of doing the same thing he always did. Luckily for him, the script decided it would work this time, albeit at the cost of Blaze sacrificing herself... Maybe? Sort of? It’s not entirely clear what happened to her, and it’s not like this was the last we ever saw of her.
Tumblr media
~La laaaaaa, la laaaaaa, la laaaaaa, heading to a better game, la laaaaaa~
But ohhhhh nooooo, turns out THAT didn't solve anything either! In the present, Sonic was killed by Mephiles, after the latter realised he should probably do that already if he wanted to make any progress at all with his plan. This incident led to Iblis being brought into the present, and they fused to become the omnipotent Solaris once more. Such power... such divinity... such devastation...
Actually, he was really easy. The antlion from Underground Zone was harder.
Tumblr media
Manchild robots - 1, god of time - 0.
With their super forms in tow, Silver, Shadow, and the revived Sonic joined forces to defeat Solaris, with Sonic in particular going the extra step in retconning Solaris out of existence entirely. Since time itself reset, meaning Iblis was no longer a memory, Silver's timeline was given a second chance. What was he to look forward to in this new, promising future?
Tumblr media
Shit.
The Design: Let's take a closer look at Silver's appearance, shall we?
Or rather, a certain thing that's wrong with it.
Tumblr media
He's holding up fifteen fingers.
Yes, you all know what I'm pointing to: the hairstyle. Let it be known that I'm very aware of the intention behind this design choice. It's supposed to be based on the Japanese Red Maple Leaf, which holds a lot of relevant symbolism for Silver's character. This is a fine idea in theory, and I can respect the intent and the creativity.
But here's the thing: If it looks like a ganja leaf, people are going to say it looks like a ganja leaf. I know some fans will gnash their teeth at me saying this, but the fact of the matter is that intentions and ideas, no matter how good they may be on paper, don't always translate well into the final product. Unleashed Secret Rings Black Knight Sonic '06 in general is certainly no stranger to showcasing examples of that, and Silver's hairstyle is no exception. There are ways to incorporate symbolism in a character’s design without making them look like meme bait in the process, and no amount of “umm ackshually” will change that, I'm afraid.
That said, there's another reason why I'm staying clean of Silver marijuana: it doesn't work for a hedgehog character. With the other hedgehogs, their hairstyles are simple and get the point across: Sonic's goes without saying, Shadow's is more angular to befit a slightly rougher hero, and Amy's is a cute bob cut of sorts. But Silver? Even without the ganja, you've still got the two tentacles making up the back of his head.
I'd rather not be reminded of hentai quills, thanks.
Tumblr media
“I thought Crusher-san would like it :’(”
I do find it hilarious that they went through numerous designs for Silver, and this was what they chose to go with. Some of his prototype designs may have fared better had any of them been used instead... but we didn't end up with any of those ones. We ended up with this one, therefore I'm judging this one.
But don’t worry, it’s not all bad with Silver...
The Personality: As far as actual character goes, Silver's personality is as straightfoward as most characters in the series, yet it's no less interesting, because it took a while for it to fully evolve to what it currently is. The seeds of his character - a good-natured yet awkward and rather insecure kind of guy, who doesn't fully understand how the present time works - have always been there, but it was often downplayed in earlier titles due to him being hungry for Iblis Trigger blood... or being an arsehole for no reason.
Tumblr media
Although to be fair, everyone in Rivals is an arsehole for no reason.
Eventually though, after the writers gave him a Snickers, these traits got more opportunity to shine. Mostly in side media admittedly, but it's been noted in the games as well. With no Iblis to angst over, he's proven to be a surprisingly bubbly chap, who just wants to know how you're all doing, fellow anthro kids. And whereas his naivety was previously used for intended tragedy to benefit the evil plan of a guy who thought taking the -istoph- out of Mephistopheles would make him inconspicuous, now it's been used for a bunch of low-key contexts that do a much better job at endearing him to the player.
Tumblr media
Finally, something I can relate to.
Hell, he even seems to have learned from the Mephiles incident, as he was quick to make it clear to the next shadowy deep-voiced anthro with demonic eyes he met that he wasn't gonna fall for any of them fibs no more, ya hear?
Tumblr media
“YouTube and Twitter don’t count.”
All in all, it works well enough, in my opinion. His personality does pave the way for some funny and wholesome moments, and since they’re no longer trying to build him up like he’s Shadow 2.0, he's nowhere near as much of a tool as he was before. So I guess you could say... I like it?
Does this mean I can say that I like the character as a whole then, design and '06-induced idiocy aside?
Well, not quite...
The Execution: This is where the complication part comes into play. We know now that I like his personality, not so much his design, but that's only the half of it. It would be more accurate to say that I like his personality... and dislike everything else.
Tumblr media
Aside from that, obviously.
For starters, the creation process for his character and story was summed up with, in their own words, “Think Trunks from Dragon Ball Z”. So he comes off as rather lazy and uninspired. Now I'm not expecting my Sonic characters to be 100% unique, there's always going to be similarities to other franchises no matter what you do, even if subconsciously or by complete coincidence. Taking inspiration in itself is no big deal at all.
But... was that it? Copying a DBZ character to such a blatant extent? Was there no other thought put into it?
Naturally, this ties into an overarching problem: the franchise's mid-00's habit of trying way too hard to be the anthro Dragon Ball Z. Sonic has had DBZ influences since the early days, with the Chaos Emeralds and Super Sonic, but it didn't assimilate itself into every waking aspect of his universe. It was merely an additional flavor that added to the complete package, in the same way that a Death Star with a moustache didn't mean the franchise was suddenly Star Wars the Hedgehog.
But come the turn of the millenium, nearly every main title in the series ended with Super Sonic and/or Super Shadow saving the day, while everyone else either stood around being useless, or only helping in ways that no one actually cares about. Including the in-universe President apparently, since only Sonic and Shadow were featured in the photo on his desk.
Tumblr media
Amy smiled. “I guess the rest of us can go fuck ourselves, huh?”
This reached its peak with - of course - Sonic '06, with Silver in particular being an obvious result of this then-ongoing trend. And yes, it would be unfair to use him as a scapegoat, considering it was already a problem long before he turned up. But moreso than even Shadow, it's an era that Silver is forever a relic of, for better or for worse.
But it doesn't stop there. Since Silver is considered a mainstay character, his gimmick of being from the future also creates problems of its own, because in order for him to make further appearances, he keeps turning up for little explained reason, and thus he suffers the Deadly Six problem of being shoved into places where he doesn't belong, for fanservice's own sake. Take Sonic Colours DS for example, where he went back in time JUST to check out Eggman's theme park... Okay...?
Tumblr media
On one hand, I’d visit it too, since it's made by Eggman. On the other hand, I’d stay clear of it, since it's made by Eggman.
And when there IS a justification with more weight to it? It's just recycling the '06 routine of trying to avert his ruined future, which isn't much better. The cause may differ depending on the story, but if his future is a permanent shitehole for one reason or another, he might as well cut out the middle man and stay in the present altogether, since that's where his friends are anyway. But they seem intent on not doing that, despite the future schtick being a noose around his neck at this point.
Tumblr media
In hindsight, maybe this was a hint to how the rest of the arc would turn out.
And then there's his dynamic with a certain purple cat... No, not Big. The other one.
Tumblr media
“I’m here, by the way.”
Simply put: I don't like this dynamic. At all. Or rather, I don't like how they keep milking it. Blaze's backstory was radically changed to justify her presence in Silver's future, and it really shows, since she barely even shows up half the time, as if the developers themselves forgot she was in the game. But her backstory has since been restored to her original alternate dimension interpretation, so hanging around with the grey hedgehog is all good now, right?
To be brutally honest, I probably wouldn't care for this dynamic regardless. But I would be more willing to tolerate it, and I'd refrain from groaning every time they're seen together... if they weren't intent on playing it up so much in spite of '06 being wiped out, sometimes with a bit of commentary involving their thoughts and memories, which only succeeds at making things more confusing. If Blaze is around, Silver will be nearby, and if he's not at first, he will be soon enough. This franchise does have a problem in general with restricting who's allowed to interact with who (I personally believe Sonic Heroes may have led to this, or at least it accelerated it), but I'd argue it's at its most insufferable here, with Blaze's potential and her entire world taking a backseat to being the sidekick of Ganja Man.
And you might say “Well, it's part of the franchise now, so you'll just have to accept it”. To which I ask: Have you accepted Two Worlds? Have you accepted Solo Sonica? Have you accepted Sonic's friends not doing much as of late?
Yeah. That's what I thought. “It’s just how it is” doesn’t mean you can’t criticise it.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Marine is lucky enough to get so much as a shout out.
So yeah, I have quite an extensive list of grievances involving poor Silver. But... very little of it has to do with him, right? They're all indirect problems that he just so happens to be linked to, as opposed to someone like Chris Thorndyke, who is genuinely a shit character through and through. This is more comparable to Tails being bitchy in Lost World, or Amy being manipulative in Chronicles, or Sonic being a smug dumbass in IDW, or Shadow not wearing a Hawaiian shirt in Boom. Frustrating, regrettable, but not really the character's own fault.
Yet even after all that, there's one last kick in the teeth... How do you fix all this? And how do you fix it when he's since gained a sizable fandom, many of whom like him for these very attributes? If you leave it as it is, you're stuck with this big, awkward mess that everyone pretends to ignore. If you try to do something about it, you'll get complaints about disrespecting the True Silver Spirit, and you’ll get questions about why you didn't create a new character instead... And if you did use a new character for the sake of a clean slate, THEN you'd get complaints about not using Silver.
It's a tough call to be sure, and it's such a shame because like I said, I do appreciate his personality, so I can't say he's bad outright. But with all this... clutter, I can only put him in the average category. So, in he goes.
Crusher Gives Silver a: Thumbs Sideways!
Well, I'm glad this one's out of the way. Putting my thoughts into words with Silver was harder than it should have been. I do slightly regret starting this series off on a rather downer note, but rest assured, it's a lot more positive from this point onwards, since while I have higher praise for some heroes more than others, the hero characters as a whole fare a lot better than the majority of villains not named Eggman.
I guess you could say that I hope to show why Sonic's friends aren't as shitty as the haters would suggest. ;)

*Our second favorite duo (because for some reason yalls like Big and Crusher’s dynamic more lol /lh) cautiously come across a rather large crater. In the crater are Darington, Watts, and Blaze. Though Blaze is severely injured and only surviving because of Watts’ tires powering him like some sort of life support. Darington is driving around in circles worriedly.
Pickle: This might get a little bumpy. *-carefully drives down the crater and up to Darington-*
Darington: *-notices Pickle and Little approaching-* Hey look! It’s Pickle! I bet he and his friend can give an explanation to this!
Little: Explanation for what?
Darington: Blaze was driving around with us and having fun as per usual, when suddenly his engine blew up and got completely destroyed! Everyone got worried about him and AJ ran off for help! And then we saw Crusher and this weird purple person laughing at Blaze and saying something about how they “got him so good”, so Stripes, Starla, and Zeg chased after them to interrogate them!
Blaze: *-incoherently mumbling-*
Pickle: Oh no! I can assure you that we had nothing to do with that. We’ve been looking for Crusher and my friend’s husband all day!
Watts: I’m surprised you weren’t with them Pickle… *-looks over at the duo-* Hey, wait a minute! *-points at Little with a tire-* You look almost exactly like that purple person! I bet you’re the one who was with Crusher and was in on this!
Little: I highly doubt it. Tell me what this “weird purple person” looked like.
Darington: Well, they had purple skin! Clearly a sign that they’re evil!
Little: Low key racist but go on.
Darington: And, uh… they were also tall!
Little: *-stands up-* Taller than me?
Darington: Yeah!
Little: *-sits down-* What else?
Watts: Did you tell him about those strange purple googles they had on? Or that stupid blue hairstyle they had?
Darington: Oh. No, I didn’t. They had that too!
Little: I see. Well, Pickle, it seems that the two of them are indeed together. You were right after all.
Pickle: Yeah! Who knew that your husband would help blow up Blaze’s engine?
Watts: So it isn’t you?
Little: No. The one who was with Crusher was probably my husband.
Blaze: *-disoriented as hell-* H-huh…?
Pickle: Don’t worry, Blaze! We’ll hopefully find them before Stripes, Starla, and Zeg and educate them on not blowing you up!
Little: Or… *-takes out ray gun and points it at Blaze-* I’d be happy to end you right here. It’d be a shame if your last moments were filled with suffering.
Darington: Hey!
Watts: Don’t you dare!
Pickle: Little, don’t. Blaze will get better! I know it!
Little: … *-puts away ray gun-* Have it your way. I tried to offer an easy way out.
Pickle: Right… *-waves goodbye-* Well, we’ll be off now! Bye everyone! Hang on tight, Little!
*With that, the duo speed off in order to find the now 5 missing people.

Prompts: Childhood Friends w/ Amnesia AU!
Okay, this is a new one, where instead of Crusher and Pickle, Crusher and BLAZE are the childhood friends ^^
Crusher and Blaze are childhood friends. They met in kindergarten and have grown as best friends.
Crusher’s name is Dynamite and is a yellow monster truck with glasses.
They race together in the children’s races, both either taking first place or second place, but they just enjoy racing together.
They are both also the same age.
During a race, a 7-year old Crusher gets into an accident. His parents and Grammy collect him, and his evil parents take advantage of the situation and erase his memory of his and Blaze’s friendship in able to manipulate him better.
Grammy doesn’t take it well and run away with Crusher, changing his name and color from yellow to blue to hide him. She also removes his glasses to make him unrecognizable.
Blaze doesn’t know anything and is only given the rumor that Dynamite died in an accident. He mourns for him.
Years later, he and his friends head to Blaze’s hometown for a race, but Blaze’s real intention is to figure out what really happened to Dynamite.
Blaze’s friends help him investigate what truly happened to Dynamite, scouting the whole town for any clues. Crusher and Pickle go with them because they don’t want to get lost in the place.
Crusher doesn’t remember a thing but everything in Blaze’s hometown feels somewhat familiar and it scares him.
They head to the hotel owned by Crusher/Dynamite’s parents to investigate further, and the evil parents don’t recognize their own son because of his disguise. Crusher doesn’t recognize them either because of lack of memory and interaction with them.
The group discover a mind-erasing machine at the basement of the hotel, and Blaze discovers that Dynamite’s memories were erased. The discovery makes him mad because that would mean that Dynamite is still alive.
As the group watches the memories play, Crusher gets the feeling of nostalgia and calls up his Grammy. As soon as the group take a rest in the rooms they’re staying in, Crusher gets the confirmation from his Grammy that the evil couple was indeed his parents and that he truly was Dynamite.
He faints at the news. He also becomes in denial and starts to have an existential crisis. He tells Pickle and Pickle helps him out. Grammy arrives and helps him out.
Meanwhile, Blaze and the group get in contact with the police with what they had discovered. Crusher’s parents are under arrest, but their status in the government gets them out of jail, but they still have a case with the court.
Crusher and Pickle learn about the case and they discuss whether they should reveal the truth. Grammy dislikes the idea, but in the end, they agree to reveal the truth during the trial.
At the trial, Blaze and the group reveal all the proof they need for the case. Crusher’s parents don’t even bother to be in-denial and proudly say that they have killed their son.
At that moment, Crusher, Pickle and Grammy enter the court with an correction, stating that it was merely a murder attempt, not complete murder yet. Crusher has his body repainted back to his normal color, and he is also wearing his glasses as he is revealed to be Dynamite, with a DNA test as proof.
Everyone is shocked. Blaze is surprised by the discovery but is also emotional and he embraces his old friend.
Crusher, now with his memories back, returns the hug, and his parents are sent to prison for 50 years.
In the end, Crusher has his real identity back, and they all head back to Axle City in peace.
Bonus: Blaze X Crusher (platonic), Darington X Stripes (platonic), Blaze X AJ (platonic), Starla X Watts, Blaze X Darington, Crusher X Pickle

D For Darington
Darington Agila saw it.
He saw everything with his own eyes.
And he didn't know what to do with it.
From the moment he saw Blaze, he fell head over heels.
Literally.
He literally fell at his feet the moment they met.
His crush was subtle, very subtle tho.
He acted as normal as he could whenever he was around Blaze. But in his heart, he felt warmth. In his stomach, he felt butterflies.
His confidence was now fueled whenever Blaze was there to save him or if he encouraged him.
It felt so nice.
So loved.
So…
He couldn't describe his exact feelings at all.
But when news spread that Crusher was now dating Blaze, Darington's world of fantasy fell and crumbled.
It turned into rage.
How dare he?
How dare he steal the person he fell for?
Darington grew bitter since then.
Because it wasn't even the first time.
First relationship with his best friend Stripes, only to have him leave him for Crusher.
Crusher…
That piece of shit.
That asshole.
Darington hated him before and now he despised him.
And he wasn't scared to show it.
Crusher was uninvited to his shows. He was banned from the public park for weeks.
Anything to make him pay.
Darington was determined to make him as miserable as he was.
So he did what he was good at.
He spread rumors.
He had done it before. His cousin Starla Catniss had told him rumors of Crusher, and he made sure they spreaded out.
To have the city aware of who he truly was.
That he was a horrible, horrible person.
So he spread rumors after rumor.
He spread it out faster than he expected, and now everyone thought Crusher was cheating on Blaze.
Darington thought he claimed victor!
But he was mistaken.
Blaze called off the rumors, and Darington was mad.
How dare he? He was doing it for them! How dare he?!
Day by day, he spread more and more rumors. Blaze denied every single one.
By the end of the month, Darington was feeling out of luck.
Blaze was never gonna be his… why did he think he could be.
Blaze didn't love him…
…He loves Crusher…
Or so Darington thought.
One day, Blaze came to him. They chatted and went out on a date.
Yes, a date.
A real, real date.
Darington was in cloud 9 the entire time.
This went on day after day, and the dates were becoming very frequent.
Darington loved every minute of it.
He truly did.
His heart felt full of happiness and everything.
He had his prince charming…
But all that changed when Darington wanted to come over to have Blaze out on a date.
He looked through the window to see if anyone was inside.
And there was.
He found Blaze and Crusher inside.
Darington froze.
He should be mad at this.
Angry.
Betrayed and hurt.
Anything but… horror.
Anything but guilt.
Anything…
But he did feel guilty. He felt hurt and was hurt.
Darington was absolutely horrified.
He left as soon as he saw it, and he was shaking as he made it to his home.
Blaze was…
He…
He couldn't believe it.
And…
He hated how he saw it.
He hated EVERYTHING.
He hated… what he saw.
He saw it all.
And he didn't know
He didn't wanna know if at all…

Crusher x Pickle - Actual hints in the show
Hello, so I've noticed some hints in the show about the ship Crusher x Pickle, so I decided to make a post that includes every one that I've noticed.
Note: This is only the HINTS, I have other moments of them that I like but didn't include because they could be interpreted as platonic too.
Another note: This originally had a few pictures but Tumblr decided to frustrate me and not uploading it. So I pretty much changed the pictures to text.
- The Team Truck Challenge
In the beginning of the episode Pickle is REALLY excited to team with Crusher, and when he chooses Rudy instead, he is really jealous and disappointed. But he's still willing to save him in the end. Also, notice how Crusher only acknowledged Pickle saving him and not Blaze? Not saying that it's right but hey I'm just pointing it out. Not to mention Crusher not being able to STAND Pickle talking about how he admires Blaze towards the end. He's annoyed at him at other occasions too, but it's the only time he actively asked him to change the subject.
- Gasquatch!
The moment in the tent and the moment where Pickle snuggled Crusher. Need I say more?
- Fired Up!
Pickle spent all that time on a tree dressed as a cat just to make Crusher feel like a hero. And in the ending scene he even called him "My hero" while being like on top of him.
I have to mention that in the Greek dub, in which they usually translate word by word, excluding the songs, they changed "My hero" into "You're a hero".
- Race to the Top of the World
There's a subplot scene where Crusher decided to take a shortcut by going through a really dark cave. The Kissing Bear was there and Crusher thought it was Pickle. (He asked "Pickle? Is that you?"). Then the Kissing Bear started kissing him and he didn't run away or reacted negatively until he realized it wasn't Pickle. When he realized it was the Kissing Bear, he drove away from the cave fastly and fell of the mountain which was also the running gag.
- Sky Track
Pickle asked Crusher to get under the cloud with him. Under a tiny cloud. With him. DO YOU KNOW HOW CLOSE THAT WOULD MAKE THEM BE?
- Pickle Power
Pickle was really worried about Crusher throughout the episode and really determined to save him. Also, just like in The Team Truck Challenge, Crusher only acknowledged Pickle saving him and not Blaze.
And finally, did you SEE Pickle's reaction after Crusher hugged him? If you didn't please rewatch, you'll see what I'm talking about.
- Catch That Cake!
This only proves that they live together and not that they're a thing. But Pickle told Crusher "We've got mail." WE. There's no way two people can share mail without living together. Also Darington sent one party invitation for both of them. Think about it.
- The Pickle Family Campout
Not much to talk about here but what was Crusher even DOING there? Did he follow Pickle or something because he wanted to be with him?
- Meatball Mayhem
The scene where Robot Pickle catches Crusher, I just...
This needs no further explanation.
- The Island of Lost Treasure
Pickle's line in the last subplot scene.
"Oh Crusher, hearing you laugh is the greatest treasure of all".
I don't think I need to say more. This sounds like it's straight out of a fluff fanfic, but nope, it's an actual line from the show.
- Blazing Amazing Stories
All their moments were ADORABLE and made my heart melt. Crusher and Pickle babysitting Baby Gherkin together. Crusher really enjoying Pickle's stories and asking for more. Crusher and Pickle falling asleep on each other.
Also, I'll point out that Crusher and Pickle seem to have grown closer, if you compare Season 1 to like Season 5. For example, they sometimes just casually cling to each other while they wouldn't do that in S1.
Okay, that was all, if something more happens in future episodes I'll update the list. I have suspicions that I'm reading way too much into this, but even if I am, who cares?! Am I right? See you on my next post.

My weird BATMM expierience
So, throught out my Life i have watched three bersions of the BATMM series,
The german version,
The english Version
and the polish version.
However in we'll be focusing on the german and polish version.
We all know that If a series is translated into a different language, they Look for people with voices which Sound simular to the voices of the people who originaly voice the charakters. The other voice actors do a pretty good Job translating until there are Things that they can't translate. Often they Change some lines or add something to the script, but there are some Things they shouldn't have added.
When i was young i used to watch the German version.
I don't remember much of it however i watched a few episodes Not so long ago and noticed something.
For some weird reason the Charakters stutter when they get confused, scared and/or embarrassed.
I don't mind giving Shows realistic traits as i find it more enternaining.
However in the Show that stuttering trait can lead to some weird moments.
There is one iconic gay blasher Scene in Rocket Ski rescue where blaze accidentally mispronouces crusher's Name.
In the english Version He says this:
"Glad you're okay Crushy-- duh... I mean Crusher."
In the German version He says this:
"luckily you're okay Crushy-- gah- I-I mean C-Crusher."
You See what i mean?
But don't worry it gets worse :")
In the polish version the voice actors sometimes Break their Charakter and Sound weirdly gay.
Stripes has become the biggest victom of this.
When He growls instead of making this grrraaahh Sound He squeaks this weird gaaahhh Sound. He also shrieks when He gets spooked or surprised. He also Likes to purr for No reason at all. Like He can Like See a leaf laying on the ground and He will purr, Like- why are you purring? It's a leaf-
Starla doesn't really have the Same problem however It seems the translator really dislikes her and wants other people to dislike her as well. In every single sentence that comes Out of her mouth is a 'yyeehhaa' which is so God damn annoying.
Pickle Sounds british for some reason-
But do you know what is the worst in the polish version?
In the english Version when the Charakters struggle, for example they are pulling something Up a mauntain, they make these Sounds that indecate that they are struggling, ex. "grrh!, grah!, ngh!"
People in poland can't say that.
When we try to say it we make a somewhat aggresive "gah!". But that often makes us sound confused.
So they just use the polish struggling Sounds which really aren't that bad but the weird voice that they gave those Charakter makes it so much worse.
In short:
When the charakters struggle, they moan.
I fucking mean it.
I have seen so many reactions of people listening to those Charakters moan and Just looking at me giving me that 'wtf are you watching' Look.
And i don't even want to Talk about how those scenes are edited. They make it so realistic it's painfull to watch.
You See in the english version when Blaze or anyone struggle they are cheered by the people around them, Like AJ, Gabby, Pickle, you know what i mean.
Here in the polish version the Editors want people to Focus so badly on Blaze moaning- i mean struggling that they Cut Out all Audio where the other cheer.
So you basically watch where a moaning Truck is pulling someone/something up a cliff while the others Just stare in silence observing the moaning truck.
-
I'm Just fucking tired of all this shit
