Okay time for the PBS Kids essay
Read it under the cut!
:readmore:
In 1968, before there was PBS Kids proper, there was Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. While it came several decades before the children’s block, it laid the foundation for the themes and values present in every facet of the network’s history.
Mr. Roger famously hated children’s programming at the time. To him, it all was droll and useless. But he didn’t dissuade the medium entirely— he saw potential. Potential that led to a few smaller television jobs, and eventually the creation of Mr. Roger’s neighborhood.
Rogers didn’t invent educational TV for children, but he did perfect it. He poured real heart and soul into probably the most sincere, heartfelt program in history.
Honestly, he could have his own essay. The more things you learn about the real man of Mr. Rogers, the more you’ll like him.
Anyway, the biggest thing that makes PBS different is the fact that it earns money through grants, fundraisers, and private donors— not through sponsorships and merchandise sales. This way, PBS Kids can push programming that it feels is important, rather than programming that merely sells well.
This also means PBS is less afraid of pushing social boundaries. Money doesn’t go away when their shows become subjects of debate— and Mr. Rogers took full advantage of this.
For context, this was 1969. The Jim Crow era had just barely, barely ended. Pool segregation was still very much legal.
youtube
Mr. Rogers sharing a pool and a towel with the Black Mr. Clemmons was a pretty big deal at the time— especially on a show made for children.
Rogers was far from the untouchable sacred cow of today. When he was alive, he had a large number of detractors. Let’s just say that scene didn’t fly nicely by everyone.
Just one year after the debut of Mr. Roger’s came Sesame Street.
While Mr. Roger’s was made for all children, Sesame Street had the explicit goal of supplementing the education of underserved communities— especially inner-city Black (and later Latino) children.
While it was made to be accessible to children of all races and income levels, they definitely went the extra mile to make it something special for inner-city Black and Brown kids. (Why do you think it it’s “Sesame Street” and not “Sesame Cul-de-Sac”?)
At the time, a wholesome, sweet show set in a brownstone street was practically unheard of.
Jon Stone, the casting director, deliberately sought to make the cast as rich with color as he possibly could, bringing on a huge amount of Black talent such as Loretta Long, Matt Robinson, and Kevin Clash, as well as featuring Black celebrities as guest stars. Later, the show would expand its horizons, bringing on actors from Latino, Asian, Native American, and many more backgrounds.
White actors were and still are a minority on show.
In addition to letters and numbers, the purpose of Sesame Street is clear: make kids of color know that they’re smart, beautiful, and loved.
youtube
It doesn’t get more explicit than this.
I want to point out this comment because it’s funny
Tumblr media
You’re telling me this bitch isn’t Hispanic???
Tumblr media
Anyway, these two were followed up by Reading Rainbow in 1983. And guess what?
Tumblr media
That’s right. Non-white focus.
These three shows, (along with other, lesser-known programs like Lamb-Chops Play Along, Newton’s Apple, and Shining Times Station (who featured Ringo Starr himself?? seriously how did that happen and why does no one talk about it) and some other nostalgic favorites like Bill Nye the Science guy, The Magic Schoolbus, Arthur, and Thomas the Tank Engine) aired on the new PTV block, which evolved into PBS Kids in 1999, bringing along Between the Lions, Dragon Tales, and many more.
Arthur is another stand-out that I’d like to talk about— it doesn’t have the same racial focus of Sesame Street, but it does focus on different income levels. The characters have various housing situations, from apartments to mansions to no home at all.
It also takes cues from Sesame Street and Mr. Roger’s in regards to talking about tough topics, though as Arthur has a slightly older target audience, it discusses things through stories rather than talking directly to the audience.
Cancer, religion, workplace discrimination, along with current (at the time) events such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina are all discussed on the show.
Another big focus on Arthur is disability. For once, they don’t stick a character in a wheelchair and then pretend he’s not in a wheelchair. A striking number of major characters either develop or get diagnosed with physical disabilities and/or neurodivergences, such as asthma, severe food allergies, and dyslexia, and they deal with them in very realistic ways.
A handful of minor characters have more obvious disabilities, and THANK GOD they go beyond the trite messaging of “disabled people can do everything abled people can do! everyone clap now!”
One episode in particular has the awesome message of “holy shit stop trying to help me all the time— it’s patronizing as fuck. I can get around just fine without you stepping on eggshells and trying to be the hero all the fucking time”
There are sooo many other shows I could talk about, but I can’t write about them all. I’m definitely gonna point out some more standout ones, though.
Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat
Created by Chinese-American woman Amy Tang
Tumblr media
Dragonfly TV
Features a multitude of female and non-white scientists to foster an interest in science with kids in those groups
Tumblr media
Maya & Miguel
One of the network’s first Hispanic-led shows
Tumblr media
SciGirls
I shouldn’t have to explain what the goal of this one was.
Tumblr media
Molly of Denali
When was the last time you saw a show that treated Native Americans as people? Much less a children’s show? 90% of the cast is Athabascan, and the show revolves around Athabascan culture, not shying away from topics like boarding schools and modern-day racism. Most of the writers are also Athabascan, and the show even has an official Gwich’in dub!
Tumblr media
It’s this commitment to real, authentic social justice that makes PBS Kids so much different from its competitors. Could you imagine the Paw Patrol dog looking at the camera and earnestly discussing what happened to George Floyd? I don’t think so— but Arthur talked specifically about it, Sesame Street did an hour long special about race in general, and the network itself made a 30 minute special.
youtube
Disney Jr. could never. (Other than trying to teach colorblindness, of course.)
I’m gonna have to cut this into two parts, since I just hit the image limit

Because I feel like it.
Tumblr media
Yellow sky? Bare footed characters? Mostly a mess? Over exaggerating some of the Hispanic features. I saw the first episode, and it was just poorly written in general. And what mother calls their son "cochinada." Roughly translates to dirty or trash.
What's good Latino/Hispanic representation?
Colombian 🇨🇴
Tumblr media
In the Caribbean region of Colombia, they light up candles and lanterns on December 8, before sunrise. So the candle giving them magic was a wonderful detail. Generational trauma is a thing for us Latinos, and this film handled it in a healthy and matuer manner. And I love how they didn't shy away with how Spaniards attacked and colonized latin lands.
Mexicans 🇲🇽
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, us Mexicans love death. 🤣 But hey, I was always taught to respect death, La Muerte, and our ancestors. So, it makes sense that many Mexican films talk about death. But I also like that Maya and the Three have Aztec, Mayan, and Incan mythology. Natives to Mexico.
Dominican Puerto Rican 🇩🇴🇵🇷
Tumblr media
Luz mom is Dominican, and Luz dad is Puerto Rican. I appreciate a good interracial couple and a mixed child. Luz name also translates to light, and some Latinos are known for doing witch craft. Or at least knowledgeable about witches and demons, and no, we aren't evil. We just know how to handle this stuff. Plus, the owl has many meanings in Latino culture. To some, I believe the owl is a messenger of death and is telling everyone that death/danger is near.
Afro Latino. Puerto Rican 🇵🇷
Tumblr media
I am a massive sucker for interracial couples and mixed kids because of this. I was working at a hispanic store as a cashier. This woman walks past me and starts talking to the bagger. The bagger has blond hair, blue eyes, and white skin. The bagger looks at me worried because she doesn't speak English. So brown skin, black hair, me has to tell the bagger that the lady wanted ice in Spanish. I then talked to the lady in English. Her reaction? "YOU SPEAK ENGLISH!" Same for a dark skinned man. So many people skip me and talk to him in English. He's Dominican, and he only spoke Spanish. I appreciate films that show Latinos in different skin types and features. We're not all brown. So yeah, the mass diversity in this film is just beautiful. And I love how they wrote Miles relationship with his parents. Realistic conflict and healthy communication. Not falling into toxic stereotypes.
Spainard Puss 🇪🇸 Mexican Kitty & Perrito 🇲🇽
Tumblr media
Spaniards are considered Hispanic but not Latinos like Mexicans. And again, interracial couples for the win. And I love the realism in their romance that heals through healthy therapy. Many people see Mexicans as toxic, so having Perrito as a therapist and the one helping everyone emotionally, it's nice. Not every Mexican is toxic. And I love how you can tell their Spanish and Mexican even though their animals. Puss Spanish accent, Spanish actor, him being a ginger like some Spaniards, flamingo dancing, and gazpacho. Kitty, Mexican accent, Mexican actress, black fur/hair like most Mexicans, quinceañera, and I love how they gave her a luchador mask. Something that originates from Mexico. Also, my brother and I joke how we as Mexiacns can't swim and Kitty nearky drowns in the 1st film. 🤣 Perrito, he's a chihuahua with a Mexican actor. Enough said. I also want to say death is Brazilian because of his actor.
I don't know much about Spanish culture, but someone said the wishing star has a connection to Spanish culture. Is that true? If so, COOL! Because death is connected to Mexican culture. So, Dreamworks finding a way to combine Spanish and Mexican culture in one film is 100% magical.
There are many more, like Beverly Hills Chihuahua 🇲🇽. 🤣 That film is better than Primos. Emperor's New Groove, Peru 🇵🇪, and Rio, Brazil 🇧🇷. Not Hispanic but Latino culture. But this post is getting long. Primos! A huge step down in Latino/Hispanic representation. Especially since we have so many good films and shows that have proper representation.

OG ATLA is a diverse show, Netflix ATLA isn't.
In a world where so many people are fixated on skin color and skin tone, it's crazy to me that I haven't seen anyone say anything about this yet. However, I believe most people are thinking it, so I'm going to say it.
ATLA is a show of characters with diverse skin tones. Sokka and Katara are brown-skinned characters.
Whereas, Aang has white skin and Zuko and Azula have very fair almost porcelain like skin. Their skin was supposed to be without blemish, and Zuko even pointed this out in one episode.
When you look at the live-action cast of ATLA, they are all white-washed. They all have very similar skin tones with the exception of Sokka's actor who is very fair-skinned.
Now, I know what you're thinking. OP how could they all be white washed? They are all indigenous or of Asian decent. None of the main characters are white.
Well, you are correct. However, I am going to introduce you to the concept or colorism. It allows for POC characters to still be white washed, under the notion that the European beauty standard is the idea beauty standard. Translation: the lighter (whiter) the skin, the more beautiful the person.
Which is what we see here with the lightning of Sokka and Katara's skin. Now, you might say, that they were appropriately cast as indigenous. Yes, they may have been. However, idenginuous people come in wide range of skin tones. There's light-skin indigenous, brown skin indigenous, dark skin indigenous and everything in between.
Therefore, we cannot pretend that this was the only canonically correct depiction of Sokka and Katara. We certainly cannot pretend that these actors were the best fit for the job, since they both walked their parts and completely missed the motivations and central themes of their characters.
As a kid, I know that it made me as a black woman and a lot of my friends who were brown women (Indian, Asian, North African, and Latino alike) feel seen when they saw Katara. They were able to see themselves in Katara, because Katara looks like them. I felt more seen when I saw Korra, because Korra was darker and starting to approach my skin tone.
That alone should be enough to want to cast the characters correctly. I mean we so often hear people complain about the blackification of once white characters. The most recent example being Halle Balley playing the Little Mermaid. However, it has always been FAR more common, that individuals and roles of color have been played by and adapted by white actors who do not bat an eye.
Yet, that's not enough, because Katara and Sokka's skin tone meant something. It means something and so does Zuko and Azula's skin tones.
For starters, Zuko and Katara have brown skill despite living in a cold climate, in order to protect their skin from the harmful rays or the sun. Wow.... I know shocking right? 😲
Some of you are shaking your head and thinking that doesn't make sense. It's cold in the arctic, why do they need protection from the sun? It's because the sun's rays reflect off of the white snow. Without a sufficient amount of melanin, the sun's rays could burn the skin of the indigenous people who live there. However, with too much melanin, the indigenous people who live there may not absorb enough Vitamin D. Hence, the brown skin.
Secondly (this point is more race-y), Katara and Sokka at this point when the Southen Water Tribe has been demolished by the Fire Nation, are effectively peasants. They are especially peasants when compared to both the Northern Water Tribe and the Fire Nation.
Peasants work outside. Therefore, peasants tend to have darker skin amongst the people in their given region. They have darker skin because they are exposed to the sun more.
Royalty has lighter skin, because they stay inside palaces, they don't do manual labor, and they have servants, so their skin is always protected from the sun. Has anyone ever notice how pale Toph is and the fact that she's the only character in ATLA who has a last name? That's by design people.
The sibling pairing of Sokka and Katara and Zuko and Azula are diametrically opposed in the original show. They are the ultimate dichotomy.
Sokka and Katara:
- wear blue
- are Water Tribe
- are brown skinned
- are peasants
- grew up in tents and igloos
- are kind to each other
Zuko and Azula:
- wear red
- are Fire Nation
- are fair skinned
- are royalty
- grew up in palaces and slept in Alaskan King sized beds
- hate each other.
The sibling pairs are opposed by more than just their nations of origins and the colors of the clothes. They are also opposed by their skin tones in order to reflect their lot in life.
Someone once said that Katara would never marry Zuko because she's too dark. Her skin is not the skin of royalty, and that person was probably right.
However, Sokka and Katara's skin is powerful, because if you read the Kiyoshi novels you'll learn that there's a great lineage in regard to who gets to train the avatar. It's my belief that if Aang met all of his friends before the 100 year war, Azula and Toph would have been the only people deemed worthy to train Aang. The most powerful people in the world are usually associated with the avatar, yet in the OG show, the most disenfranchised people in the world: Sokka and Katara made Aang into a fully realized avatar.

✩°。⋆THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU HEADCANONS⸜🎥✮
bc I'm bored and I miss them ♡ (diyakkul on AO3) warning for spoilers ahead??
First thing first: Neteyam and Lo'ak are half latinos!! And they perfectly speak Spanish (Lo'ak has a bit of an accent and Neytiri blames Jake's horrible/broken Spanish he had to learn to speak with Mo'at);
Neytiri never wanted Neteyam and Lo'ak to become actors because she didn't want the media to target them as 'nepo babies' due to her past fame;
Neytiri's choice to stop her actress career was solely hers after marrying Jake— he wanted her to continue;
Neteyam's first acting role was playing a tree in an elementary school musical recital;
Lo'ak was the first one to sign himself as an extra to start his acting career and dragged Neteyam with him;
Jake and Neytiri found out their sons were acting as extras while watching a movie on Netflix:
"Hey, doesn't that guy look like Neteyam?" Asked Jake as they were cuddling on the couch. "That guy is Neteyam!" Neytiri shouted after pausing the movie and studying the guy up close.
Their theatre club teacher was the first person they called when James Cameron sent them the script for Pandora;
Neteyam and Lo'ak bought their 'villa' together;
For Lo'ak was love at first sight when he saw Tsireya sitting in the script reading room;
Tsireya used to be a child model and did a few commercials when she was younger;
Tsireya and Ao'nung grew up together since Tonowari and Ronal are best friends;
Rotxo was already their friend since they attended the same high school for 'rich kids';
Ao'nung is the nepo kid par excellence, his first acting role was in one of Tonowari's movies as his own son, and doesn't care about being called a nepo baby;
Tonowari = Dwayne Johnson/The Rock btw;
Ao'nung *stared* at Neteyam throughout the first reading meeting but was so shy and overawed by his beauty that he forgot to say 'hi' back (the rest is history);
Neteyam was glad he had to switch roles with Lo'ak until he realized his character (Rai'uk) had too many scenes with Ao'nung's (Sahné);
After the switch roles news, Tsireya had to listen to Ao'nung's two-hour-long cheer in their usual nightly FaceTime call (Rotxo pretended to be sleeping);
Lo'ak and Spider used to challenge themselves in 'illegal golf cart racing' between a studio and another until James Cameron caught them;
Rotxo and Kiri had their very first kiss in his dressing room in the middle of the first season recording and had been dating ever since secretly;
Rotxo and Kiri used to share secret notes between one take and another;
Neteyam has never accepted roles in musical movies because he thinks he isn't good enough but he occasionally shares song covers on Instagram;
Among the cast, Tsireya is the one who shares the most moments/photo dumps;
Ao'nung had a secret account just to follow Neteyam before opening his own Instagram account;
Neteyam and Rotxo always read fans' tweets together;
Spider's podcast had to be a joke but too many people started following him, so he went with it;
Kiri will more likely end her acting career after the last season of Pandora because she wants to travel the world and do environmental volunteering work with Grace;
Neteyam sometimes thinks about accepting modeling offers;
Ao'nung's Instagram explore page: South Pacific landscapes, RPG games, Neteyam, surfing stuff;
Ao'nung's house is so big that Neteyam didn't meet his boyfriend's parents until two months after they went back together (Tonowari once opened the door for him and Neteyam couldn't stop praising him for his movies, Ao'nung had to drag him away + he met Ao'nung's mother in the middle of the night while he and Ao'nung were making a late night snack in the kitchen);
Neteyam and Ao'nung's housekeeper are partners in crime;
Neteyam and Ao'nung moved close to Lo'ak and Neteyam's old villa since Tsireya moved in with Lo'ak to be neighborhoods;
Ao'nung felt so betrayed by Rotxo after learning he had actually been dating Kiri for all those years he didn't speak to him for two weeks straight (Neteyam had to intervene);
Neteyam and Ao'nung sometimes like to share cute videos about their daily life or do Instagram lives together;
TMI (+18): Rai'uk and Sahné were switch;
Every time rumors about Lo'ak and Tsireya breaking up spread around the internet, they post a story thumbing their noses;
ENDING HEADCANONS! ♡⋆。˚
Neteyam will become a director;
Ao'nung will join the cast of a highly successful action movie after a long hiatus after Pandora's fourth season: it will become a franchise, and Ao'nung'll live off that success.
Lo'ak will still do back-and-forth between horror and action movies;
Tsireya will slowly retire from Hollywood's spotlight after founding a cosmetic and haircare brand that will be a worldwide success (girl boss, she actually will make more money than Lo'ak);
Rotxo will eventually join Kiri in her environmental volunteering work around the world, and they will found two sea animal rescue centers: the first in Awa'atlu and the second in California;
Lo'ak and Tsireya are going to have two twins: Raul, a boy, and Lani, a girl;
Neteyam and Ao'nung will be more than happy to just be the funny gay uncles and will adopt two dogs, a French bulldog named Rainé (after Rai'uk and Sahné's ship name, Ao'nung's choice) and a beagle named Coco (Neteyam wanted to call him Cacao but 'caca' is still the only thing Ao'nung knows in Spanish and laughed too much);
Kiri and Rotxo were fine being the rich uncle&aunt couple until Kiri found out she was pregnant in one of their trips to Awa'atlu, they'll end up having a girl named Raina.

Racism in the whump community
I'm a tired black woman and I wanna talk about the kind of racism i see in the whump community. This isnt a callout, but a discussion and its an invite for white people to listen not talk over me.
Whump is when characters get hurt, this can be from fandom or with original characters, so I'll go into each of these starting with fandom.
Fandom racism is well documented, white people will actively ignore or hate on people of colour, especially black women, both the characters and the actors. Black, Latino and Asian characters are consistently hated or ignored, especially in whump. As someone who runs a poc whump blog, I have to make gifs (as someone who doesnt have the talent or energy to do that) for franchises like the fucking MCU, where characters like Sam Wilson or T'Challa, who have massive fanbases outside of tumblr/whumpblr, but here theyre irrelevant. Black stories and pain are irrelevant in whump.
Been in servers where people will talk about a whumpee by showing pictures of a group of people, no one has to mention theyre talking about the white man in the group, we all know ofc whumpees are white men. The poc in the shot are the background, even if theyre the main characters, to a white person eyes, they arent relevant, arent important.
And OC content isnt free from this either. Instead of ignoring people of colour, we are simply not present. And whump is derived from fandom so its clear that these are linked. You dont like it when we're there, and make worlds where we are not. And it's not about intention, maybe youre just worried about writing poc, maybe we just dont come to your mind at all. But the effect, the consequence, is more important on poc in the community than any of that.
And when you do write us, you feminise and fetishise asian men, you make black men hypermasculine or subject them to poilce brutality. You make black women the sassy best friend type, the black mama to serve white people. We're never the centre of the story.
And whiteness is glorified. In its pale innocence, in the beauty of blue eyes or brown hair. The whumpee was made to be white and for white people to project themselves on. Not for poc. This wasn't made for us.
Something that is so innocent, so obvious to a white person can be harmful to a person of colour and the problem isnt an individual, its a structure. Fandoms are structurally white, the whump community is structurally white. Places white people go to turn their brain off, to "escape" always mean that its a space where poc cant escape. Because you let the racism that is in you not get addressed, and where no one is addressing racism, it flourishes.

It's game time, and apologies ahead of time if you don't know who some of these people are, but trust me they are worth looking up and looking at! Using the following actors: Rafael Silva, Ricky Whittle, Mason Gooding, Jacob Scipio, Micheal Evans Behling, which of the following roles would you want each of them to take in your life?
The Best Friend: Pretty self explanatory. This is the one you spend a lot of time with in a platonic, non sexual or romantic way. You can hang out and be completely yourself with, play video games with, road trips or meeting up to gossip. They're a fun time.
The Lover: This is the one you are in a relationship with. Could be boyfriend or husband, your choice. You fill the role of their housewife, you cook and clean for them, make sure their clothes are all washed put away before he comes home from work. But he is completely in love with you, spoils you and showers you with gifts and affection and romantic vacations.
The Thirst Trap: This is the one you perhaps feel the most sexually towards, that you look at with a lustful gaze. He is here to offer you all of your deepest sexual desires and will fulfil them exactly how you want. You want slow and romantic? He can do that. Want him to be rough and dominant? He can do that. Want him to be kinky? He can do that too!
The Bully: This guy loves to tease and mess with you. He will make you kiss his feet, sit on your face and make you sniff his farts, make you lick his armpits and belch in your face. He finds it very funny, and will do this to you every day if he could.
The Boss: This is the man you work for, and he pays you good money to be his personal assistant. Whatever task he throws your way, you will do without hesitation. Do well and he might give you a pay rise, or a promotion or something a little sexier. Who am I kidding, of course you'll have some secy time with the boss! But do badly and he may cut your pay, or even fire you.
ASK ANSWERED
GAME WITH ALPHA MALE CELEBS
Hey! I still don't know if we know each other or not but what's sure is that i really enjoy your games! 😁 Thanks for taking your time to write them. Maybe next time you could include pictures so i have an idea of the persons you are talking about 😊
As for the game of today, he is cool, and yes i don't know them (i know only two men here). And since they are a little bit too similar (all of them are tall muscled American non-white actors between their 30s and 40s), i find it tricky because it's difficult to really imagine them in a different position. I mean, my answers will be based on their body and what they makes me feel.
If you want ideas of celebrities i like, you can pick them from my list pinned on my blog 😉
Also, it would be interesting to make me play a game with fictional characters, i would be more creative in my answers 😀
On last thing before i answer your question : i thought you would have make something more sexual in your questions, but it's cool 😁
But, once again, thanks you so much for making me these games, i can't wait the next
So my answers are :
THE BEST FRIEND : RAFAEL SILVA
I know Rafael Silva because of his roles in the tv series 9-1-1, where he plays a gay man. I think Rafael Silva is gay in real life too. I love Rafael Silva's huge tongue, I'd like to suck it!
Tumblr media
He have an amazing body, he is hot but to me short hairs looks better on him. I appreciate the fact that Rafael Silva isn't hairy : i would love to smell his smooth body!
If we were best friends I'd be like his pet 🤭
---------------------------------------------------
THE LOVER : JACOB SCIPIO
I didn't knew him at all, but Jacob Scipio seems to be so kind, cute, sexy, hot, funny...
Jacob Scipio does not seems too dominant, but who knows, maybe he is 🥰
He still seems to appreciate someone obedient to him, that would serve him well...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------------
THE FIRST TRAP : RICKY SILVA
Ricky Silva is hottest here but also the one i would have the least things to tell about, because he is so hot that he don't seems to have an interesting personality. We seems to be too different to have things in common.
So I guess that Ricky Silva being my sex dom would be hot, i would serve him sexually, be his human sex toy, but even though Ricky Silva is my type, i don't know if he could love me.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------------
THE BULLY : MASON GOODING
I discovered Mason Gooding in Love, Victor, which is a Disney+ series i really enjoyed (and that i might write about, i began something after the end of the series but i never finished it). What's hot on him is his attitude.
Tumblr media
Mason Gooding is the one i the know the most here, because i saw him, i mean, his character. In the series he starts being a bully before being too nice and being a lapdog without personality 🙄.
In real life Mason Gooding seems to be really hot, dominant, arrogant, his voice is very sexy, masculine, and he cocky, like he knows he is someone superior. I'm sure Mason Gooding would enjoy farting/burping on me. 🥵
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------------
THE BOSS : MICHAEL EVANS BELHING
He looks like he would enjoy being served and obeyed, and Michael Evans Belhing is very masculine, a tall muscled man 😍
Maybe he would order feet massages... 😁

Melissa Barrera is a beautiful new Latina actress. Not much famous latino actors are in Hollywood because whites usually get all or the best roles. POC gets to be sidekicks the best or the dumb and ugly ones. Whatever, that is a long story. This mexican girl lost her job in the scream movies because she did the right thing. Her character in the last scream movie was cool like her. I remember going to the movie theater and watching her movie because it was my birthday. I remember how a mean girl spilled her soda on her shirt and tried to fight with her in the middle of the streets.
Hollywood glamorizes the outcasts, freaks and martyrs. But, they go against everything in real life. Hypocrites. And Pro Israel actors are getting more fame by acting saintly.
we hardly get woc in positive and main female lead roles and this happens. I am sick of seeing women that doesn't look like me be female leads that gets a happy ending or marries the men they love. it makes me insecure. I am not latina. But, she is the closest actress who makes me feel comfortable in my skin. If that makes sense to you

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer.
First, I want to say that watching the trailer, Chadwick Boseman’s absence in it was noticeable. It hurt knowing that he is not there and he should be there. My heart hurt, it was like getting the news all over again that he has died. And that trailer is a beautiful tribute to him. He truly missed.
Second, as a Mexican-American woman, can I just say that I am SO FUCKING excited to see my ancestors inspired culture showing up in the MCU? And having a lead Latino actor as a big character in the MCU?
I mean I was happy to have America Chavez showing up, speaking Spanish and being played by a Latina actor as well but...
An entire Mayan/Aztec civilization showing up in the MCU as part of the mythology of Atlantis?? Which is now a part of the MCU??? Y’all I’m like...
Tumblr media
I feel seen! I feel my culture and history has been seen! I just hope that this will lead to include more and more Latinx characters and actors into the MCU in the future.
And you can be damn sure that I will be first in line to watch this film. I am ready for it. (I’m bringing tissues with me because I know I’m going to be sobbing.)

9-1-1: Lone Star’s Ronen Rubinstein and Rafael Silva on TV wedding and the beauty of queer love
9-1-1: Lone Star fans will finally see TK Strand (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva) get married in the two-part season four finale
After four years, some false starts, and far too many near-death experiences, 9-1-1: Lone Star fans will finally see TK Strand (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva) get married in the two-part season four finale on Tuesday May 16, 8/7c. But it's not going to be smooth-sailing, as fans have already been promised a tragedy that will strike — and change the trajectory of their lives forever.
"It's a blessing to be given these storylines," Rafael, 28, says on the set of HELLO!'s digital cover shoot in Los Angeles, "It's not every day that you get a story like this with juicy scenes where you have to focus and step up."
Fans already know that Lyndsy Fonseca will return as Carlos' best friend Iris, but the two episodes will see other surprises on-screen as TK and Carlos — known by their portmanteau Tarlos — lean on each other as they work through the shocking complications.
Ronen and Rafael met in 2019 when they were cast as TK, an NYC firefighter who moves to Austin with his father, Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe), and Carlos, an openly gay Latino police officer in the Austin PD.
Their relationship has become the focal point for the Fox drama, and a beloved character all its own, and the decision to have them finally wed means so much to so many, especially at a time in the US when conservative legislation has been attacking the LGBTQ community, making this wedding all the more poignant and important.
Over the past four years, the two actors have built such a bond on and off-screen that even among all the "chaos around us on set," as Ronen describes it, they are able to stay focused on telling their stories.
