As Barbie becomes a billionaire it's heartbreaking to realize that the writers who wrote the film and the actors who participated in it are unable to fully celebrate its success because they are on strike picketing for better working conditions, increased residuals and stronger protections against AI.

Absolutely incredible
Imagine making a movie with a budget of $25 million and making $130 million internationally during the first weekend while your movie is also on streaming!
So proud of Blumhouse and everyone who worked on this movie, I’m wholeheartedly looking forward to the sequels!

I googled what each movie made opening weekend.
So if you listen to some they will say $47 million is a huge failer yet $23 million is a great success.
Goalpost moving and biases much?

Its just so tiring seeing people already declaring the marvels as a "flop" just cause it had the lowest opening weekend
Not only is it tiring (there is misogyny and racism behind the resulting in it being a "flop," no doubt) it's unfortunately true if we're talking money. Although the audience clearly likes the film -- as seen in the screenshot below which I took this morning, at Nov. 13, 2023 -- currently the film's box office earnings are lower than even The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton (2008) which earned $55.4 million.
The audience loves this film, but Disney/MCU are still basing their success off of the monetary gain off of a scale that seems to be (as I assume) from pre-covid and pre-streaming boom times.
This is why going out and spending money to see good movies is important. The language that companies speak is monetary; they don't care about feelings. If something didn't do well at the box office it's considered a failure no matter how good it actually is. For example, look at one of Disney's now-beloved films Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
And, for all those who hark about equality and diversity and #BLM, they should have been at the front of this in promotion and money. But alas, even on the internet Loki is trending more than The Marvels
Forgotten Addition: as of today (November 13, 2023) The Marvels has earned $47 million domestically in the box office since opening day

Conan the Movie 27 breaks a new records!
The Million-dollar Pentagram becomes the highest grossing opening of any Conan movie ever.
made over 1000 million yen (6.5 million dollar) in revenue faster than last year and every year WITH OPENING DAY 960 MILLION YEN.
The movie received more overwhelmingly positive reviews than last year's movie.
The whole of Japan was bustling until it was a bigger phenomenon than last year

Anyone But You has reached over 25 million domestically meaning its already making profits a week after release!
Plus we all know some streaming app is paying a couple million for it as well!
Glad it’s doing well even though the marketing was a mess

Martin Scorsese says the combination of ‘BARBIE’ and ‘OPPENHEIMER’ was something special.
“It does offer some hope for a different cinema to emerge, different from what's been happening in the last 20 years.”
