My grandma just died and left behind an abundance of sewing, knitting, and beading supplies. My dad made a pile of everything for me to go through since he knows I’m crafty. Its all such nice stuff. Really, intimidatingly nice stuff. Genuine velvet, silk, mohair and even mink. Its all beautiful, and I have mixed feelings about using it for dolls. I wonder what she would’ve thought; would she think it’s a waste of good materials? Or appreciate the artistry? I don’t know, I never told her about my dolls or my crafting. I wish I did. I think she’d at the very least be glad it’s not getting tossed. I hope she’d be happy I followed in her creative footsteps, even if it is just for dolls.

haul of a girl that can't pick a substyle

my first brand swimsuit and an usakumya necklace i was very excited about finding!!

i was missing several of the early volumes of GLB and was able to fill in the gaps with a few of those. i've been interested in researching the history of the fashion recently so i'm constantly hunting for old magazines! i've added GLB volumes 1-4 & 6 & 49--as well as "Frill" volume 1 and the "Maison Gothic & Lolita Style" book to my media collection.

a metamorphose Alice OP (2000) that i got on auction!! the double sleeves and center buttons down to the bottom are my favorite. it didn't come with the apron, but i was lucky enough that the one from a different Alice OP, also from the year 2000... was on auction on a different platform at the same time. i bought them separately intending to pair them together! i quite prefer the style of this rounder edged apron rather than the more squared top one it's meant to go with.

this is actually the dress that made me realize the Alice OP Set on lolibrary has a long version (similar to the maid OP from 2003 mini & long or the nun style OP mini & long)--i'll have to remind myself to submit a correction for the current OP to indicate the mini variation, and to submit a new entry for the long length one if i can manage to find more information... though i had no idea of its existence until recently! from an old LM sales listing, i found that the mini length is around 88 cm, whereas this one is 125 cm. i severely underestimated the length of this and it's down to my ankles, but i suppose it'll be my first long dress ^_^

Another preview of this project! I wanted to pattern a well fitting top that would still work for a veryaty of doll bodies, pretty please with the results (⁠・⁠∀⁠・⁠)

For comparison the doll on the left has a 26cm bust and 16.5cm waist the doll on the right is 28.5cm bust and 17.5cm waist

After Cari, my dark tan TD Doll XunYiChao, arrived, I decided to do a small resin comparison of currently available colors for tans and 1 normal pink skin.

Light tan from TD Doll is very very pale, it doesn't show much darker than an slight olive toned normal skin. In comparison, dark tan is really a rich dark color, definitely worth the $60 extra for it (light tan also comes with a $60 up charge for a 1/3+ sized doll).

I also compared the light tan to some other light tan resins that I have at home which are currently available from their respective companies with and without flash:

Jointed Hand: TD Doll normal pink 2019 (yellowed)

Spare male hand: DFA light tan 2021

Full arm and hand: TD Doll light tan 2020 (I labeled it wrong)

Foot: Iplehouse peach gold skin 2021

I have a couple of other tans at home, which are discontinued or have been updated as color options, such as:

LoongSoul french brown 2021 (Black Dragon release)

TD Doll tan 2019 (was replaced in 2020 with light and dark tan options)

Dollzone tan 2013

Dream Valley original tan from 2020

Soom bronze from 2012

Fairyland tan 2013

Mini 2B is finished!

I’m so happy with how she came out 😭 I’ll keep saying it bc it’s true lol.

The outfit is one of my rare made from scratch pieces. I would consider it rough but it photographs well which is really all I want. I play with and dress up my dollfies a lot, but I consider her more of a display doll. I’ll take cute pictures of her, but she’ll probably stay in this outfit forever.

I don’t have anyone to tell this to (who won’t side eye my doll collecting) so I’m confessing here because I NEED to talk about this with SOMEONE... I was messaging with one of my mutuals on Instagram and we somehow started talking about life plans. Started as wistful talk about dreams for the future, nothing too deep or whatever. Somehow we ended up on the topic of families. She asked *when* I was going to have children. Thats a weird way to ask, but I figured she didn’t intend it to be taken that way. Sometimes she words things differently, so I brushed it off as that and answered that I wasn’t going to have any. Didn’t get into it because I didn’t think it really mattered or was interesting. Apparently she found my answer “troubling” and said it was selfish of me to NOT have children?? What??? I didn’t want this to be a big issue between us since she’s otherwise been really nice and interesting to talk to. I tried saying we should change the topic but she couldn’t let it go. After some back and fourth she told me how much I would “regret this when I’m older”… i don’t say this lightly but what the fuck. Blocked after that. Who are you, random doll account I barely know outside our occasional chats, to tell me what to do in life? I think I’ve met so many great people in this hobby I forget that there are definitely some crazies.

Finally dyed and painted my df-h pumpkin head. It’s so cute and I love it. Now I need to make more 1/4 sized clothes. I have mainly 1/3 bjds so I don’t have as much for her as I do my bigger dolls. Next up is the Medusa head!

Reshelled Dolls

Having been in this crazy hobby since May 2011, I have accumulated quite a few dolls (current count as of Nov 12. 2023: 51), but not all have stayed. Some even got reshelled.

Most of my reshelled dolls completely replaced the original shell, except in the case of Ursa and Lily. I have both of their (very different looking) shells still in my collection, with each being a version of the OC they represent. The others were mostly sold, though a few got a different character assigned to them (Val 1.0 Head = Kass, Morgan 1.0 = Viola, Sam 2.0 Head = Ivy). Basically I reshell dolls when their characters outgrow their doll avatars so to say.

I even reshelled my first doll, Melody, who had been an Obitsu 60cm Gretel and is now a Doll Chateau Snow Nymph. The original shell was sold because I found I vastly preferred resin to vinyl, and because the character had fallen out of use/importance. So initially I didn't even intend to reshell her.

It's kind of funny how Melody came about to be reshelled. I instantly fell in love with the DC Snow Nymph upon seeing her pictures, but couldn't afford or justify her yet, but I knew I needed her. It took me a while to figure out why and who she needed to be, and then it clicked, she was Melody.

My wife (then fiancee) surprised me by ordering her on layaway as a wedding gift for me. Which is very special for many reasons, one being that Melody had been the first OC I created specifically to RP with my wife with (though we were only friends at that point, quickly becoming besties though). So it was only fitting that she became a wedding gift in 2015 from my wife (though it took her many more years to finally shell Darten, her husband, in 2019 I think?).

Anyway, do you guys have any reshelled dolls, and if so, why or why not?

I made 9S an outfit to match 2B’s Volks set. I’ve wanted matching gothic clothes for them forever so I’m so happy! I love so many photos from this shoot & have been deliberating on if I should post them because I also filmed making the outfit and doing the shoot for a video. So I’ll…hold onto the rest for a while. Though it pains me because I love sharing pics 🥺
