After Cari, my dark tan TD Doll XunYiChao, arrived, I decided to do a small resin comparison of currently available colors for tans and 1 normal pink skin.

Light tan from TD Doll is very very pale, it doesn't show much darker than an slight olive toned normal skin. In comparison, dark tan is really a rich dark color, definitely worth the $60 extra for it (light tan also comes with a $60 up charge for a 1/3+ sized doll).

I also compared the light tan to some other light tan resins that I have at home which are currently available from their respective companies with and without flash:

Jointed Hand: TD Doll normal pink 2019 (yellowed)

Spare male hand: DFA light tan 2021

Full arm and hand: TD Doll light tan 2020 (I labeled it wrong)

Foot: Iplehouse peach gold skin 2021

I have a couple of other tans at home, which are discontinued or have been updated as color options, such as:

LoongSoul french brown 2021 (Black Dragon release)

TD Doll tan 2019 (was replaced in 2020 with light and dark tan options)

Dollzone tan 2013

Dream Valley original tan from 2020

Soom bronze from 2012

Fairyland tan 2013

Introducing BonBon (he/her), my new Telesthesia & Dragon Du Xiaoju 💙

He's SO gal. I was shooting for gyaru, but I didn't think I would hit it this hard. It's funny, because every other doll of his sculpt i've seen is so much more demure looking with sweet, innocent eyes, and then Bon is out here with his bad-girl gyaru vibes. I think if all the Telesthesia Du Xiaojus had a party, he would be drunk and all the others would be like, "who let HER in here?"

I love him, your honor. He makes me sick with happiness 💙

This gorgeous Telesthesia Doll XunYiChao in dark tan skin is one from my personal collection. I had an absolute blast painting her despite the challenges of working with dark resin (pastels won't show the true color until after sealing). Initially I wasn't going to give her piercings, but she looked so empty without them, so here we are!

She is just absolutely stunning to me, and I am so glad I sprung for the dark tan. I do have a light tan FeiHuaDeng at home and took some comparison shots of their color differences. I will likely post those to my bjd photography blog (@izasbjdphoto) instead of here.

Meet Ambrose!

Ambrose is a Telesthesia & Dragon Wei Yue Jin limited. He’s a clumsy warlock who’s always working hard to improve himself. His story takes place when he’s trying to summon a familiar, but in usual Ambrose fashion, the spell backfires and he finds himself in quite the situation! 

I originally imagined him in black, but once seeing the white on him, I fell in love. He’s also the icon for this blog! (Can you tell I have a favorite? Shh.)

I behaved and resisted the sale on Ringdoll’s doll lucky bag, but did decide to buy a book on making hanfu so I can make clothes for my dolls xD Here’s hoping the listing for Ying Zhou has all the measurements I’ll need since I won’t have him here for a few months to take measurements myself.

Maybe I should start by trying to make some fancy robes for Xie Lian instead, since I have him here and can practice that way.. plus i have a ton of fabric that might work for those...

doll collection rambling don't mind me

i'm selling my volks mika and ryo, i don't do anything with them tbh.

camael needs a new body cos i hate three part torsos and i'm wanting him to be shorter. i have him on a 68cm body cos originally his character was over six feet tall. with all my revisions, he's now like ~5'9" or like 175-6cm give or take. a 62-65cm body would work best, then i can have taehyun on a 68cm body. knowing me, this will change cos i adore the telesthesia & dragon 72cm body...

acchan needs silly little outfits once i pick an era. i like him blonde a lot, but i also love his short black hair. if i stick with the more current era i could have him in the fluffy coat from the kemonotachi no yoru pv, and get another pair of yosd hands to give him the claws. and there's all those black lace tops. but my big issue is shoes. i can't find shoes that will work cos like 99% of yosd shoes are too kiddie looking. i want him to be perfect.

the next doll i'm getting is uriel's new shell, an impldoll eudora. haven't decided on a body yet, i like both of the new impl bodies a lot. taehyun will probably be after uriel.

i just moved away from a friend who is also in the hobby JUST when she got a ton of new cool doll stuff. she's just starting her collection and i've been in the hobby for 15 years and she has impeccable fucking taste. we did faceups together in my kitchen and we always talk about doll stuff even before she got into the hobby and i'm gonna miss her so much, and she fucking knows it. FRIEND IF YOU SEE THIS, YES IT'S ABOUT YOU, one day we'll fix that fucked up d0llfie dream head you got on mandarake for 10 dollars that had literal toothpicks shoved in its head to simulate vampire fangs, i swear on my telesthesia du xiaoju.

Doll number 50 made it a few weeks ago! I've named her Carina, Cari for short, and she's a blacksmith. She's a really fun character as she's an ex-paladin, and she can turn into a giant polar bear.

I need to get some new full body pictures of her painted, as I have some from her box opening.

I also compared her dark tan to to the light tan from the same company. I am thrilled with her color and look, I've been wanting a dark tan from TD Doll for a while, and she works perfectly in it!

I've just bought Telesthesia Xiao Bei (62cm) 😳

I decided I wanted a new bjd around a year ago but last year was super busy so I kept putting it off. We moved to a new part of the country, started new jobs, spent a lot of time diy renovating our new house, so honestly I was feeling really guilty about spending a lot of money on something that's essentially a toy.

Also, I originally was planning to get a mini size doll but looking at pictures it was so obvious that I'd prefer a large doll instead. I tried to convince myself that a 45cm bjd is fine too... Well it's not lol.

On top of this, my partner's father gave me his mother's old sewing machine. I cleaned and oiled it and working fine so far. I want to use it for making doll clothes mainly but will make some human sized stuff too maybe. The machine is not super old, originally purchased in 1993, has the booklet and hasn't been used for a really long time.

So this year is starting good. My main plan for 2024 is taking things easy, I will spend time after work on creative projects if I feel like but not going to force it if I just want to chill.
