Move with the Melody (1/1) (jegulus)

Regulus was walking home from the library. While he had on a long coat and boots, his forgotten mitts left his hands to be bitten by the frigid air. It was sunny, but deceptively so. He could not wait for warmth of the fire to thaw his skin and a cup of tea to curl his hands around. He walked, trying not to sound too out of breath when strangers passed. As music flooded his ears, he fell too deep into the lyrics.

I watch you go, go away, go away, miles more than before

I’ll watch and wait, watch and wait, watch in place, where we were before

He blinked and brought himself out of it. If his phone wasn’t underneath his many layers he would’ve changed it. He should’ve changed it anyway but Regulus never did what he should do.

Fuck, Regulus thought. Today was too much of James. James did live rent free in Regulus’ mind, but the eviction was long overdue. He tried to shake it away as he tugged his zipper down haughtily and searched for his phone, quickly switching it to the next. He didn’t care what played, as long as it wasn’t that.

His ears were filled quickly with a piano concerto. He sighed deeply, and took in a sharp breath of the cold air, focusing on the instruments. No. 21, he thought, hmmm C Major, Mozart obviously. He scrunched his nose, but this version was likely the London Mozart Players. He didn’t mind this version, and loved playing this piece honestly.

He focused on the music as he walked and walked, playing it over and over again until finally he reached his flat. Maybe Remus would be home and want to play chess with him. He needed to distraction, because just stepping through the doorway brought memories of James pushing him up against it. He didn’t want to think about James--couldn’t think about James. James didn’t want him anymore, and he needed to move on.

He wished he could just play through the missing him part like song, skipping it when it was too loud or too annoying or he simply did not want to hear it anymore. Everyone keeps telling him its his own fault, or well maybe its his own thoughts, he can’t really tell anymore. His thoughts spiralled into berating himself as the kettle boiled and clicked off.

He finished making his tea, his thoughts landing on: you shouldn’t even be surprised, who could love you anyways, and moved to sit at the piano. He needed to get out of himself. Aside from scratching all of his skin off, playing was the only thing that would let out the bubbling in his blood. He let his attachment, his physicality of the music, the muscles and arch of his back lead him out of his mind.

Remus came home to a terribly solemn tune, and immediately understood why. Remus moved quickly to sit with him, and the pair may have been the suffer in silence type, they often found comfort in each other’s shared silence.

By the end of the night, Remus had only asked one question: “Do you want to talk about?”

Regulus had only given one response: “It is James,”

So they both knew that meant it was better off left unsaid.

agent 404 found out about the squidbeak splatoon when browsing old government documents before proper security was put in place and you could just... do that. inspired by their comedic antics, he began 'training' himself for the day where he might end up actually joining them.

he ended up meeting tuyen sango (the captain) and lyca murray (new agent 3.2) by chance while watching turf battles and treated them both like celebrities, practically begging for them to let him on the team

he is and was overqualified for the job, so they just gave him the vague titles of "hackerman" and "guy who does cool stuff" so he wouldn't end up taking basically all of their jobs.

Sirius is steadying himself from a fall that had been going on for far too long

Something is not right, but he cannot put his finger on what exactly.

Sirius frowns, reaching to touch his hair & face – noticing they are healthier than they’ve felt in over a decade. He’s still on edge, whether waiting for the reveal of a trick or the unacceptance of the truth is unclear.

He looks around, frantically, seeing nothing but a void and no one else but Regulus who is watching him. He continues to call for his godson to no avail, growing increasingly panicked until a hand reaches out to steady his pacing.

Regulus Doesn’t flinch

A silence falls between the two, a familiar sense of distance settles in. They’d never been the best at communicating, it was always easier to not see eye to eye. Regulus is the first to crack,  he’s been waiting far too long for this moment to lose it to pride.

Regulus shifts, an awkward shrug before answering honestly.

Sirius raises an eyebrow curiously, their differences as younger boys not forgotten but it’s evident their estranged relationship has plagued him too.

Sirius follows his brother, looking at ease and peaceful and - for the moment - the struggles of his previous life have been left behind in favour of the new distraction.

Hello! I'v seen the painting on your blog and there amazing. I'm not a painter or drawer but do you know any The Hobbit/Lord of The Rings diy and crafts I can do ? I'm in a really Tolkien mood today and can't find any diy/craft inspiration

Thank you. ;) So maybe you want to do a cosplay craft? I’ve recently made a Nazgul sword from a tutorial at http://www.stormthecastle.com/ , it’s out of foam board and I made it very cheaply. They even had patterns in the tutorial. I think they might have other LotR sword tutorials there. Maybe you should try one of those!

If you’re not interested in cosplay then maybe try stenciling on your clothes? I found this goth girl on Youtube that made a clothing stenciling tutorial with spray paint, I think it was her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrW6ek2__Iw

I used one of her tutorials to make an Elric of Melniboné themed jacket with a symbol from that fantasy series, (basically drawing/printing on sticker paper and then spray painting on that), maybe you could do that with the Tree of Gondor or the Eye of Sauron or something.

I also put tape that i drew on with sharpies and sticker paper that i printed on my laptop to make the apple into Barad-dûr/the eye of Sauron, that was a fun craft. ;)

It’s always a good time to learn traditional/historical sewing, and since the Lord of the Rings is based on a medieval world maybe you could try to hand sew yourself a medieval tunic from a medieval costuming book, these costuming books are great resources anyway if you plan on learning to draw too. This is a good one that can be found in libraries and on Amazon. I picked up a lot of my sewing and embroidery skills from reading about and making American Revolutionary War era clothes actually, and books like Colonial WIlliamsburg Costume Close up can give you some ideas for clothing that is pretty similar to hobbit clothing.

If you like Middle-earth themed cooking Happy Hobbit has recipes you might want to try.

You could also try cross-stitch which is relatively simple. Check out this blog:  @dreams-pass-in-time

I’m not on Pinterest but I’ve heard that other people go there for inspiration. Maybe try asking @vampiraptor or @wraven52.

Tolkien’s books continuously celebrate traditional craftsmanship so luckily you can be in the spirit of his books no matter what skills you have.

GETTING TO KNOW THE ACCOUNT: (placed under a read more because I got rambly lmao)

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TAKE ON THIS MUSE: It’s actually a bit of a story that I still enjoy telling now. This dates back to when I first started playing Dark Souls I: PTDE, when I was stuck at Sen’s Funhouse for a long time, and my friend decided to pop in and lend me a hand while cosplaying as Paladin Leeroy.

Fast forward to when I finally got into the tomb of giants, after I heard of a special shield called “Sanctus” that I should have picked up. I still remembered the beauty of that set that came with the shield, so I was like me want. When Leeroy invaded, I thought nothing and just dispatched him, then I read his armor set description and uh... rest is history lmao.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ASPECTS OF YOUR CURRENT MUSE: Since Fromsoft didn’t love him enough, I got to write him as how I saw fit, and to shape his story as I saw fit. His personality is also a thing that I absolutely adored, because he is, in my eyes, one of the most fascinating characters in Dark Souls 1, having no dialogue nor interaction save for two occasions, yet having such a powerful backstory.

Leeroy is a character I put a lot of thought into it, since his personality is more than just one layer. He is kind but also cruel, he is merciful but also heartless, all in certain ways that makes him neither fully evil but one cannot say that he is entirely good either.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING: It’s a couple of things really. I do it mostly as my creative outlet, because my brain is always on hyperdrive mode, thinking up new scenarios, new characters and parts to play with (as evident in my still growing original works featuring the seven kingdoms of Vallenia).

Admittedly I also write because it feels so good to be able to play “god” for once. Cuz I can make the characters do what I want, fight how I want, love how I want or hate how I want. And then looking back at the story I wove, it’s a feeling of accomplishment that is hard to earn but worth every minute.

FAVORITE TYPES OF THREADS: Character interactions! Action! Ones that take my feels and dash it into a thousand pieces and dramatic situations. Plotted things that make me think of how my muses will react to them and how they would handle the situation is also a huge (eyes emoji).

BIGGEST STRUGGLE IN REGARDS TO YOUR CURRENT MUSE: It’s honestly kinda hard to keep Leeroy in balance at times, because of how fickle of a line he walks. He is cruel not for a bad reason, but I am also not trying to justify some of the stuff that he does do in his story that I come up with: for example, he literally would not spare sinners if he found them while serving as a Darkmoon Blade, nah, they are going to go down and he’s going to take some sick pleasure at times doing it.

Yet ultimately at the core, he still is a good man, a man who would fight and die for his family, a man who sincerely does believe that all are capable of doing good and are loyal to those that have never made him question his loyalty. I don’t want him to be seen as either, more as a gray character with white tinges.
