Spoilers for Handplates! Make sure you’re all caught up before continuing!

I ended up scene-picking around the timeline at pretty-much-random, whatever I thought fit the lyrics the best in the moment of blinding inspiration (lol), but now that I’ve got the basics down to paper, I think I’d more carefully choose in mostly-chronological order. That also means some would have to be cut, so I want to show them off here! :D I also drew them all from memory so if there’s inconsistencies, that’s why lol

For example this is one of the very early lyrics, but the events take place well down the timeline! I’m sure I can find a good stand in - mostly I just wanted to draw Papyrus from this scene, ugh I love him ♥ And the lyrics do fit!

Looking back to Sans for reassurance haha. I changed a few of the lyrics to be more Papyrus-specific -

I love Sans going to comfort him as well as rally him ahhhhh

Originally I had his glow coloured in purple but this was one that I actually went back to look at (because I love this scene so much hhgggg <3 <3 <3) and had to change to his natural colour - he deserves it!! He’s earned it!!

I’ve honestly fallen more in love with this song through him and vice versa haha ♪ It’d be quite a bit before/if I could make a full version, even just with what I’ve got here, but it was so fun to draw at all ♥

You know, regarding Lloyd's achievement in history and whether ordinary citizens know him or not made me crave post canon modern au.

Imagine seeing an in universe fanfic authors notes in ao3 or twitter crying about how they simply wanted to write a story set in Lloys time but they just keep diving into rabbit holes.

Kinda like

"So i was writing an historical au set in Alician era where the MC had a detour in Cremo and he was admiring a statue by the sea with a local explaining its history. Maybe someone from Beneto Kingdom being so confused because all he learned from history in school (Beneto history) is that Lloyd is just some brilliant engineer so he got specially confused on why in the movie he was watching set in Alician era is Lloyd fighting a goddamn bone dragon.

I'm interested on how scholars and political figures bemoan and analyse Lloyd's action and achievement but ordinary people's Internet discourse could be so much fun as well.

he's the go to historical domain character used to set the time period for a historical movie/book/series. he's the guy writers insert to give their work a more period accurate vibe. everyone knows just enough about him to make really passionate history nerds very angry about all the inaccuracies and made up facts that are taken as common knowledge.

i'm thinking people of completely different online circles all knowing about lloyd in some capacity but regarding completely separate facets of his life and work and being so surprised when they accidentally find yet another whole field lloyd revolutionized. like.

a sword nerd who's really into the concept of the asrahan core technique and knows perfectly well that lloyd helped invent it getting gobsmacked about the fact that's the same guy that laid the ground for modern sewer systems.

a fan of historical romance stories who is used to seeing lloyd as a fun cameo in the background of stories set in the alician period being really confused when they open their book on thermodynamics and see there's a whole chapter dedicated to a method lloyd figured out to create ice without the need of magic.

a train enthusiast who is really fascinated by the rudimentary switchback system lloyd frontera implemented when the concept of a train wasn't even known in the empire being completely dumbfounded when their friends invite them to see a movie about that one time lloyd frontera and his knight defeated a knight of hell in namaran.

i'm also certain there would be some guys who think he's overrated and people should really stop talking so much about him when there's so many other historical figures who are just as interesting and not as recognized 🙄. to which people immediately go "mad cause your history blorbo didn't defeat a bone dragon aren't you" at them

they definitely get the alexander and hephaestion treatment you are so correct. they're also the achilles and patroclus of the modern magentano girlies. there's a bunch of 'queer retellings' of their lives. they're the go to example for homoerotic friendships. there's a bunch of edits that mix historical paintings of them with ship fanart with that 'history hates lovers' song playing over them. dudebros get really angry about it. llojavi truthers pull out their 20 pages long annotations that start with "they fucking slept in the same bedroom for years" and it only gets worse.

there's one poor person online who just really fucking wants to know how and why lloyd frontera changed faces one day out of the blue with no one ever explaining it. there's no official records. no member of the royal family ever made a statement about it. why is everyone acting like the frontera family didn't have one eldest son for 25-29 years and one day suddenly had a completely different one. what the fuck is going on.

hey I'm pretty new to gaylor stuff and am just wondering, why are the daisy socks important? Just wannna know how crazy I should be going over this lol

Hi and welcome to the gaylorverse!! 🤗 The daisies are one of the most obvious pieces of gaylor/kaylor evidence and they were the nail in the coffin for me when I first fell down the rabbit hole 🌼

It all started when Karlie and Taylor took a trip to Big Sur, California in early March 2014. They took a bunch of pics of their trip and this daisy makes a cameo in many of them (you can search “big sur” on my blog to read more abt it). The most important of these pics is the one where Karlie tags Taylor as the daisy on the dashboard and captions it w “best road trip ever.” This is referenced in Don’t Blame Me—“I once was poison ivy but now I’m your daisy.” Also “trip of my life” is a double entendre here bc she’s not only talking abt tripping on drugs but also abt this road trip. To add more evidence to this theory the original handwritten lyrics include a drawing of a daisy that looks exactly like the one on the dashboard w the same positioning and all.

Plus Karlie was a literal VS angel hence all the angel/heaven imagery in Don’t Blame Me and many other songs—“Halo hiding my obsession / I would fall from grace just to touch your face / Lord save me” // “Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes” // “I know heaven’s a thing, I go there when you touch me,” etc. And when she was making the song (1:00 of this vid) she said she wanted it to sound religious.

She mentioned in this vid that she has repeatedly used clothing and jewelry as easter eggs over the yrs which is why the daisy socks are a big deal. She’s extremely intentional w everything she does (she’s a mastermind after all) so it’s unlikely this is all a coincidence. She still uses daisies in her art and wears lots of clothes w daisies to this day which is one of many indicators that they probs haven’t broken up. Here’s a great post showing many of these instances. Here are some other times she’s worn daisies: (x)(x)(x)(x). There are countless other times daisies have shown up but I don’t have time to cover them all.

Fletcher and Kelsea Ballerini, who are Taylor’s friends and were invited to her after party not long ago, also took a trip to Big Sur in 2022 where they took a pic identical to the 2015 Vogue photoshoot pic and Polaroid shown above. This photoshoot was a recreation of their 2014 Big Sur trip. See here and here. This issue was released on Galentines Day, the same day Style was released as a single.

Also, Girl in Red recently mentioned at the eras tour that Serotonin, which has the lyrics “put me in a field with daisies,” was Taylor’s most listened to song. Taylor gifted her a painting she made w these exact lyrics.

hi everybody :3 i didnt really read a lot in february i was busy 'doing school' and 'looking for employment.' sad! i have spring break coming up so im planning on using that time to read a bunch (and also apply for more jobs -_-) this post and previous can be found on my neocities!

books:

revenant gun by yoon ha lee: the last book in the hexarchate series, starting with ninefox gambit. (slightly edited from my discord review, SPOILERS INCOMING). in machineries of empire, there a disconnect between what the audience craves and what the book is willing to give them-- for example, things like Whats up with the calendar + the hexarchate, why did jedao do all that, etc. this works in the books favor (imo) by increasing tension, creating a sense of discovery, and avoiding clunky exposition.

however in the two sequels it expands not just to what the audience wants but also what they like. care about? some big examples are the weight of the remembrances* and less cheris, but also stuff like jedaos focus. which isnt bad like i like jedao. but like, if you Dont you sure do get a lot of him. also did anyone actually like brezan sorry. hes fine like for example with the end of a memory called empire, when the protag (forgot her name sorry) loses her brain buddy, it feels like a second coming of age almost--her brain buddys been a crutch but now she gets to stand on her own (albeit as a changed person, with brain buddys influence). vs cheris who kinda starts to feel like a cameo character who literally fucks off for nine years??? there is also a sort of ongoing sense of "these sacrifices for the greater good are ok (if sad) and these are not" whihc ngl sometimes feels pretty arbitrary to me. and given that machineries of empire focuses on like the Littlest most downtrodden people it really is wild yhat we dont see a lot of civilian life? anyways i enjoyed it and i think its worth finishing out the trilogy but it wasnt as satisfying as i could have hoped (ALSO NINEFOX GAMBIT IS A REALLY FUN SOLID READ. I LIKED IT A LOT)

*the rememberances are a set of ritualized tortures that create a power structure that literally powers a lot of the empire's technology. this is a very cool concept! a big part of jedao and cheris' rebellion is about making a place that Doesnt have to run on torture. except that like, besides the intellectual knowledge that Torture Is Bad as a reader i didnt really feel that invested in this? like we only get to See a remembrance happening midway thru book 3. im not like advocating for torture porn or anything but it seems weird to have that be the focal thing when neither cheris nor jedao had any scenes where they were affected by it (and so the audience didnt have anything like that either). idk it kinda just stood out to me. like yes i care about these characters but why should i care about This specifically

hexarchate stories by yoon ha lee: an anthology set in the world of machineries of empire, expanding the world and fleshing out some stories. this was pretty solid! theres a wide range of stories and lengths, and i liked the variety :3 its like a little charcuterie board. (yoon ha lee's bias for shuos jedao really stands out here though..) its kinda essential reading to me imo though bc otherwise the ending of revenant gun isnt that satisfying :| lol anyways once again if youve read ninefox gambit check it out! spoilers for the whole series tho

exordia by seth dickinson: hard scifi about agency, impossible choices, and how they shape you. also, international geopolitics! like ninefox gambit, exordia demands your attention and concentration. you kinda have to read it at a time when you have brainpower to spare. however, exordia rewards everything that you put into it :3 i ended up learning so many random facts during this book… like AGL meaning above ground level. i feel like i need to read a book about democratic confederalism now also. a couple of my other friends read this book and got lost in the large cast and intricate web of events--i didnt have as much of an issue but u might need a piece of paper or sth. exordia is a book that's dense enough to feel like three books, and that can be good or bad. seth dickinson has this really spare, concise prose that leaves a lot to your imagination but also like. can sum up a person or situation in just a couple sentences? and that leaves a lot of room for the reader to investigate which i like :3 hm what else to say…. i really liked clayton (clayton!!!!) but i found erik super annoying ymmv. the ending kinda leaves you at a loss which i honestly kinda like? like yeah obv a sequel would be nice but i like it the way it is. anyways not for the faint of heart but id still recommend<3

accidentally engaged by farah heron: f/m romance aww so cute <3 really nice contemporary romance which tosses together a bunch of tropes--arranged romance, fake dating, baking together--into something that actually works really well! the two leads were very charming and i liked reading about the good food. i liked the way the protagonist's almost-stereotypical portrait of a loving but strict south asian family (am i allowed to say this) gets fleshed into a group of honestly kinda bizarre people that love her and that reena can genuinely connect with. yay family! overall, not especially memorable to me personally but still enjoyable. rec if youre into contemporary romance

last breath: the limits of adventure: realistic fiction (?) about what it feels like to drown, die of dehydration, fall from a cliff, etc. lots of research, very thorough! (well sometimes they live and sometimes they dont). an expansion of this absolutely fantastic article about hypothermia. honestly none of the stories quite live up to this one imo but this is still a really solid and exciting read! i couldnt put it down! although it does have a touch of the orientalism that you get from like, a lot of extreme sports circles lol. i would definitely recommend reading the article, and maybe read the book if it especially interests you.

video games:

pokemon legends of arceus: a pokemon game set in the past that breaks the mold by letting you dodge roll. my opinions here coincide pretty closely with the dunkey video, which is that this is a really fun game that is also literally half finished. controls are clunky, story is paper thin, graphics are fucked, overworld is extremely empty but its also just very fun?? it took over my life for like two weeks and i missed class???? anyways i would not get this at full price but if you can borrow it from a friend its super interesting to experience. im looking forward to the kalos one :3

slay the princess: a horror? romance? visual novel about saving the princess, slaying tbe princess, and everything in between featuring the vocal chops of that one magnus archives guy. dudeee this is so fun! i think its very kind to the guy inside of me who is Embarrassingly Anxious about any and all video game choices that can like, affect the narrative. lmfao its fun to fit in a couple runs or two between other things, but i did start losing track of what previous paths id taken after a bit of a gap. however!!! i would definitely think about playing this game if you like visual novels or Narrative or Loops! or girls who kill lol theres a free demo if you want to try it out

movies:

velocipastor: action movie about a priest who turns into a velociraptor to punish the wicked!!!! so fucking cool a lot of love put into this (low budget) movie made me so sad i dont speak cantonese (? at least i think thats what it was) watch this with friends

music:

Gato by nobonoko: really fun 80s synth jazz? album written by two fictional gay furries. no wait come back ok this is one of those things i got recommended by youtube and then actually listened to it a bunch of times its just very soothing and nice :3 ive been listening to jazz pretty much my whole life so i have a huge bias. also im a sucker for fictional bands eg splatoon… also the art is so cute?? those two guys?? its hard to pick a favorite song but i think i like the titular gato! also theres a bunch of other stuff made by the same two artists

option by Crosses: i totally forgot what the genre for this is but its like when metal guys are like i need to have a song for my metal wedding. song recommended by neil -_- anyways very sappy im fond of it nonetheless. i definitely did think it said "can you promise me to the grave"

Roy by Idles: from british rock band idles new album tangk! im going to be honest i did not like this album as much as some of the other ones by idles, but thats ok! hmm when i play this song out loud during crew shifts i feel embarrassed. but i really like seeing how idles' vocalist's voice has evolved over time! the way hes branched out into more melodic and belty stuff over time is very fun. the prechorus + chorus are very fun to sing along to as well :3 its just a fun song

anyways if you read any portion of this thanks as always :3 what else to say.. i made pandesal recently and its been my only successful bread that i can remember. go me! anyways see you guys in a bit

What was your take on Rhys Darby's Cameo video in regards to making you feel more hopeful/less hopeful/neither but it was still lovely? With the deafening silence from David Jenkins and worrying that the morale is dropping, it's irresistible not to start feeling a bit of doom, you know? Hello my dear! Welcome to tumblr, we're so glad to have you! I really should get on reddit sometime (I get notifications when certain posts get busy but I just always forget to check them). I totally get that Twitter is overwhelming, it's a tornado of information--and thank you! I'm so glad you're getting something out of the updates!

My take on the Rhys Darby cameo, ay? Well I'll be honest, I thrive on even a little bit of feedback so I was 100% pumped after that yesterday. It sounds silly but I went and cried in the shower for 20 mins because I was feeling torn between the sadness for Rhys and what he lost and was feeling and then also the beautifully kind and positive advice he was giving us.

After that-- I basically felt like someone called Gondor for aid and I was a raging pile of need for action. I actually feel more hopeful now, but I think Rhys has that affect on people. Like that man could tell me the sky was blue and I'd grin like a toddler with a lollipop and nod and feel like I could take on the day.

I do totally get that doom and gloom feeling that comes with the silence. We need that feedback from the people we're fighting for to keep morale up. That being said though--- I've noticed a trend over the past few weeks since cancellation, and that is that when we start feeling down, someone in the cast/crew starts poking their nose out. Usually its Chaos Dad (David Jenkins) but all of a sudden when things are slowing down again this week, Rhys puts himself up on Cameo, two days before the UK launch of s2? I just don't believe in coincidences in most cases, especially when we're all watching things so closely. It may make me sound like a conspiracy theorist but I do truly believe that a huge chunk of the cast and crew is watching our actions and reactions to things very carefully (Hell, Alex Sherman is over on twitter liking a bunch of fan art and porn, so at least we have our little perverted guardian angel!). They just seem to keep popping up at the exact right moments to help rally the troops for them not to be.

The difficulty with negotiations in any industry is the whole Non Disclosure Agreement that comes along with people potentially taking on new clients/funding new projects. Legitimately, there could be a contract in the works right now with a network and we already have our s3, but we just can't know about it because that would damage / threaten negotiations. It could be the other way too, but with how supportive Chaos Dad and Rhys and the rest of the crew have been just popping in and out like little bubbles of positivity, I really feel like we have still have some hope here. It's just really hard to be patient when we're all pushing so hard-- which is why breaks are so important. Anywhoooo, I've had my coffee so I'm obviously rambling at this point-- thank you so much dear for writing into me! I hope that answers your question... I am feeling overwhelmingly positive after Rhys' videos and feeling very mama bear on wanting to protect that man by doubling down on efforts, lol. So glad you're will us on tumblr friend! I keep thinking about your child au and I’m so curious to how Naoya’s b-day would go. I feel like if it’s a party at the Zen’in estate, Naoya would sneak Y/N away from the party to meet Toji(I don’t know if Toji would attend or if he was even invited). I’m curious to what Toji and Y/N would think of each other(I feel like she’d be a bit scared but that might be me projecting since I know I’d be a bit intimidated by Toji as a kid and ngl I’d still be intimidated as an adult 😂). I’m also curious to how Ranta will be when he finally meets the person that occupies Naoya’s mind. I feel like Ranta would be scheming for ways to help Naoya and Y/N spend time together but if her siblings are also coming to Naoya’s party then I can only assume Ranta would have his work cut out for him. Ahhh, now I’m feeling bad at the thought of Y/N’s siblings coming since I’d feel sad if they made Naoya’s b-day difficult for him.

Right now the plotline I have for Naoya's birthday is: the party is at the Zen'in estate, a bunch of relatives attend, and Y/N gets to meet most of them :) so yep, we will see Y/N's reactions to Toji and Ranta, and vice versa.

But now that you mention it, it would 100% suck if Hinata and Ren decided to be... you know how they are, with Naoya on his birthday, however, I feel like he wouldn't really care because he's going to be more centered in introducing Y/N to Toji, and getting his opinion of her.

ggkagkjlagakslg My main focus is totally going to be Toji-Naoya-Y/N, and perhaps some cameos from other characters :> unless I decide to do something else down the road, but I don't think so. Also, we might get to see a bit of Mai and Maki too!! But they're babies as of right now lol.

TOP HAT TRIO ARCHIVES: Part 1

Warden: Look at all this lovely art of us! We could fill a museum! Professor: There's so much it seems like we can't keep up... Once-ler: ..... Y'kno what guys? I'm gonna take a break...

((A small fraction of my old old old trio art, most of which has never seen the light of tumblr (under the cut)! None of this is colored. Some of this is pre-blog or just... REALLY early-era Trio art, so some of it is... dated. Also, as indicated by the top, this is part 1. Meaning there will probably be more, LOL...))

((I hope it's okay if I ramble some fun facts in the middle of this!))

We're gonna start off with this silly lil doodle of the lads! This was drawn during the era where I did my silly crossover drawings, before I mustered the courage to turn them into an askblog.

Based on the date, I must've drawn this next one while I was in the process of actually making the blog... potentially their original "profile" images? Or just a doodle I did to get me hyped...

As you can see, all the drawings so far are pencil and ink... that's because (if I remember correctly) this is when I was VERY new to computer tablets! I felt more confident in my traditional art so I would slap quick colors onto the back of a bunch of ink-drawn replies and make minor adjustments with the tablet. I remember being hesitant to switch to a fully digital style since I felt the sketchiness was almost part of the style of trio? But I've come to accept change is good! Everything post-Greed M!A is all (or mostly) digitally lined (with the occasional trad sketch), but if you look closely at the trio in this (and many other) early-day responses, you can definitely see the pencil marks!

Unposted Thneedville High Trio!!! I was SO obsessed with the Once-ler Askblog AU's back in the Once-ler Fandom's hayday... they were a lot of fun to observe on the side and I wanted to be part of that in my small way, but unfortunately, I was a coward so I never did LOL... I'm thinking this was drawn in February or March 2013...

And, something I drew on the same page, Truffula Flu Trio!!!! I think I briefly thought about making it (and thneedville high) a sideblog but I felt like I couldn't commit for multiple reasons: (1) AU hype was dying down a little, (2) It was a bit too serious a concept for Trio; I wanted to keep them lighthearted and silly (covers bad end with a hand). And (3) I was still doubting whether or not my blog counted as a Once-ler blog (being only 1/3 once-ler) and whether I was valid to participate in events. Eventually I got over that fear when I joined Camp Weehawken and participated in the fandom revival of 2015, but the fear was definitely there at the very beginning and I hesitated to jump in on some stuff because of it!!

These were some of my earliest (unanswered) asks! I think for a while I thought I accidentally deleted the Pinkie Pie one, but it mysteriously came back one day?? I don't plan to finish these but might as well get some closure since I already drew them. I had to look up which troll typing was the one being used here so I might be wrong, I know nothing about homestuck except chapter 1 and 2 and whatever I osmosis from my mutuals LOL...

Peacock was drawn before I knew anything about Skullgirls...... within the past few years I recently watched her gameplay/storyline! She's defs a fun character. Trio are probs neutral about her. I'm not confident enough to do anything major with her, but I would love to cameo her more!

I got a few asks / M!A's about genderbent versions of the trio back in early 2013 and these were my doodles for that. The designs were based off of different designs floating around tumblr at the time that I liked. I'm not interested in doing this M!A anymore, but the dresses are cute!

Some glasses shenanigans I never posted for some reason?? (For reference: (1) (2) (3) (4).) It's silly stuff like this that make me realize Trio!Professor is a little bit like "Cheerful Mystery" Professor but like... waaaaay more tame HAHA (I never read the manga back then because I was upset they made Layton OOC, but from what I've seen he's... a lot more chaotic there). Which, ykno, good chance explains why Trio!Professor stays sane around Once-ler and Warden and their wacky selves.

Some wardlers and layclaires!! Also a few super old things I doodled out for Lovestruck M!A part 2 (including warden being a perv and oncie being flustered and confused, LMAO) but... idk if I have the energy to commit to it at the moment... partially bc thinking about getting an influx of shippy-type asks gets me overwhelmed and idk if I can commit to another magic anon all my magic anons manage to kill the blog somehow 😭, but ykno... saving the anons in my inbox in case I change my mind... Love these guys dearly regardless,,, <3

Some doodles of Layton and his rivals!! I think someone sent a small "Descole takes over the blog" M!A (hence the itty bitty chibi head LMAOO) but (again) I don't have the energy to commit to anything but vanilla THT right now. I still thought the idea was fun enough to draw out and anticipate in advance! If I change my mind y'all will know about it...

My first drawing of Wilson from Don't Starve!! I didn't even play Don't Starve at the time, but I wanted to do research if I was going to properly execute the magic anon and I fell in love with him immediately. Unfortunately he (and his game) became my new brainrot and I still feel really bad about that LAUGHS, but hey! Was worth it! Maybe someday I'll redo trio mods for DST...

I may have him cameo again, but potentially after his character update in Don't Starve Together eventually drops, of course, :3 chants give us lore lore loRE LORE-

What is Leatherhead and Koya like in the Might Mutanimals AU? Also is there any romance in the AU? (I would have asked if that one ship is cannon in the AU but then I realized your the queen of that ship lmao)

Leatherhead is the oldest and wisest of the group. He basically like the dad of the team, though he isn't the leader, he takes care of everyone and keeps them safe, cooking meals for everyone and such. He was the one who founded the team and had everyone meet. Him and Slash kind of have adoptive father and son relationship.

Leatherhead was human before his mutation his name being Jack Kurtzman, he was actually a talented doctor and was married, but after he was captured and experimented on by some strange creatures who had the possession of a mysterious green ooze, Leatherhead left that old life behind. He hasn't been in contact with his husband since he went missing and was mutated so LH's husband is convinced he's dead. In truth LH is fearful of how his husband will react to seeing him now being a terrifying mutant alligator monster. Leatherhead tries not to let his mutation get in the way, despite his towering and intimated nature, he's very gentle and kind, continuing his career as a doctor by being a medic for the mutanimals team and also running a community shelter for mutagen bomb victims. LH is very hardworking, serious, supportive of his friends, a rule follower and very strict. I based his personality on Raymond Holt from Brooklyn 99

Koya is a character I change a bunch compared to her IDW counterpart cause in truth, there's so much potential and none of it was used right which resulted in her not being a good character (in my opinion). Unlike Leatherhead, Koya was an animal turned mutant, so she was never a human. In the beginning she HATED herself because of her mutation and hiding herself away from everyone. She's a loner (or at least claims to be one) but deep down she really wants friends, but struggles to make any because she lacks social cues. Since she was formally an animal, Koya is very curious but cautious about everything in the world, which can result in her being hostile towards things or people she does not understand just yet, but is a quick learner. Koya is the most intimidating of the team, often her mere presence alone causes her teammates to have a chill run down their spines. To describe her personality, I'd say she's stoic, but gloomy deep down, closed off and can have a temper if you push the right buttons. She's based on a mix of Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn 99 and Mai from Atla.

As for romance, there's only TWO couples in this spin off so far that I have planned (Three if you count Leatherhead and his husband):

Slash x Alopex and Mona Lisa x Raphael

Slash and Alopex is a ship I created for the 2012 series so I brought it back for this story. Their relationship I guess you could say is the more "main focused ship", think of it like Robin and Starfire from Teen Titans (2003). Romance is not the primary focus of storytelling but they are usually the go to. A friends to lovers mixed with "will they, won't they?" Everyone knows they like each other, it's just all on the WHEN is it gonna happen??

And of course if I'm gonna do a TMNT story I gotta add my OTP! I am the queen/captain of this ship after all! LOL But yeah, though the Ninja Turtles in this story only make little cameos from time to time, Mona Lisa is in a secret relationship with Raphael. That is actually how Raph is introduced. One of the Mutanimals spies on Mona (maybe Mondo Gecko cause he's nosey) cause they put together that she's hiding something and soon discovers that she has a secret boyfriend and it's Raphael.

So, in my continued watching of the various Arrowverse TV show, I have finally gotten to see the big crossover event that the Arrowverse has been building to since the first season of The Flash and that is Crisis On Infinite Earths. I just kind of want to talk about what I liked, what surprised me and some other things. Remember, there might be spoilers here.

What I Liked:

To be honest, there is quite a lot that liked here but, I will try to keep this not too long.

All the cameos were pretty neat. Got to see an adult Robin from the 66' Batman series on Earth 66. There was a second of another Robin but, I am not sure which Robin that was supposed to be. Getting to see Kevin Conroy on camera in live action as Batman was pretty cool and really liked that take on him too. He basically admitted to killing a bunch of his foes, including that Earths Superman which, as you can imagine, didn't sit well with either Supergirl or Batwoman. We got to see Brandon Routh's Superman and he got to meet Ray Palmer/The Atom which was pretty funny. After the crossover we got to see Stargirl with some people that I am not sure who they are, we got to see Raven and Starfire which, I believe is the version from the Titans TV show and we also got to see the Doom Patrol. As much as I had not seen the show, it was cool getting to see Lucifer from the Lucifer TV show get to have a small part. Of course, it was neat getting to see Ezra Miller's Flash show up too. Lots of pretty neat cameos in my mind.

It was, in my opinion, about damn time that Black Lightning got to meet the other CW heroes, minus Green Arrow since he died before Black Lightning got the chance to meet him.

Nash got what he deserved once the universe was reset. I was so glad too see him get punched since pretty much all of Crisis was his fault. It was satisfying to see him get what deserved.

As I said, there was just so so much that I really liked here that it is hard to pick specifics so, I am just going to move on.

Things That Surprised Me:

In the moment that it happened, I was so not expecting The Flash from Earth-90 to sacrifice his life so that Earth 1 Flash could live and not vanish in Crisis which had been built up to since season 1 of The Flash. Not complaining that Earth 1 Flash survived but, I was not expecting Earth-90 Flash to make the sacrifice.

As much as I had anticipated Oliver's death (Arrow ends with season 8 and Flash has like three more seasons lol) I was not really expecting it to happen as early as it did.

Lex Luthor's involvement was not something I saw coming. I was not happy that The Monitor brought him back to life but, I was not really expecting him to help the heroes in the moment that he did.

Oliver basically becoming a cosmic entity was hugely unexpected but very cool too.

I'm sure there are probably more but, I can't think of more things at this time so, I am going to move on.

Other Things:

I am just lumping the rest of my thoughts here because I don't really know how else I want to categorize them.

I really wish that the episode of Black Lightning that was apart of the Crisis just had more to do with the actual Crisis. It spent too much time on how the anti-matter from the red sky was affect Jen and everything with the two other versions of herself. Like, they spent too much time on that crap and the the anti-matter wave comes, Black Lightning gets teleported out before that Earth gets wiped out. Plus, as a whole with all six episodes considered, Black Lightning only has like two appearances in the whole of the Crisis and I just wanted to see him interact with the other characters more. On the note of characters from Black Lightning, I wish that Black Lightning was not the only hero from that show to be apart of the crossover. Why couldn't Thunder & Lightning be in it? Dreamer got to make an appearance, why not those two?

I also wish that they had used all the characters from Legends of Tomorrow too. Like, they used Sara, Mick and Ray and only had Nate and the other guy, whose name is escaping me right, get like two seconds and that's it. Even in the Crisis part that was an episode of Legends of Tomorrow and still didn't use many of the members of the team.

The whole thing with Nash Wells just being stuck watching tragedies was really stupid to me. Especially when I basically helped the heroes break into the place where the Anti-Monitor's anti-matter canon is located. Like, if Nash was technically serving the Anti-Monitor, why didn't the Anti-Monitor stop Nash from revealing it? Why not do something to stop Vibe from getting the information they needed to get into that room.

Layla's whole thing felt extremely forced. She spends like two episodes of Arrow before the Crisis doing sketchy things and then bam, she's the Harbinger....who is somehow easily manipulated to help the Anti-Monitor and then does absolutely nothing to help the heroes.

I was not really a fan of the whole sub-plot of trying to bring Oliver back via a Lazarus Pit on another Earth. I mean, sure, it was an excuse to have Constantine be apart of the Crisis but, it was ultimately not worth it if you ask me since that is when he becomes a cosmic being. Could have done something a little more interesting without that little sub-plot.

The part after our heroes finish mourning Oliver's death when Barry reveals the table and chairs for all the heroes, that part was interesting to me. Like there's a spot for The Flash, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Superman, White Canary and Batwoman and they did this as a sort of Justice League setup sort of thing. I just find it interesting because like why doesn't Martian Manhunter, Dreamer, or any of the other Legends get chairs? It feels to me like they're saying that The Flash, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Superman, White Canary and Batwoman are the MORE IMPORTANT Arrowverse heroes and the others are just lesser heroes or something. Just how it felt to me.

Well, that is all that I can think of at the moment. Like I have already said, I really did enjoy the Crisis crossover. Is it pefect? No, but it is very clear to me that all the actors and crew and directors put their hearts into making this crossover the best that it can be. Also, I'd like to add, I've seen a few episodes of Arrow post-Crisis and my headcanon right now is that the Arrow TV show ended when Crisis ended lol.

OK so Monet briefly cameos in Ms Marvel and Wolverine (may not be the exact title) and no shade to this comic because it's fine. It's under no obligation to do a bunch of service to my faves anyway, and it really is just a small, inconsequential cameo.

But I fucking hated it.

So this just me ranting about the shortcomings of her writing recently.

So in this comic, she's in Penance almost the entire time. She doesn't use her other powers, she doesn't appear to even fly. And for some bizarre reason Armor protects her with her forcefield which like... girl she's nearly indestructible even without Penance, and in that form she's meant to be harder than diamonds. They're fighting little robot alien bugs. She shouldn't need this.

Secondly she has one line referencing x-corp, and it's like "I should be doing spreadsheets right now". And it's not even a good joke. Like, it's not the main x-corp joke (I.e. lol these superheroes are cosplaying as CEOs), it's just lazy and unfunny. Monet isn't a workaholic, she's just inclined to brag about her business "success".

This particularly stood out to me because the Infinity Comic series did a Generation X reunion where Monet is featured in a small role but kind of perfectly. She's super competent, badass, aloof and fabulous. She doesn't change into Penance because she doesn't need to, she just uses her powers to save the day... like she should. X-Corp is mentioned, but in a way that makes sense - that is, kind of tongue-in-cheek. (Also she shares clothes with Jubilee and it's a very important moment for me)

X-Corp itself handled Monet pretty well I think. This is I guess a relative statement because the last series that had her as a regular was Weapon X-Force which was horse shite as far as her character was concerned, and before that Uncanny X-Men (2016) that was mostly kind of an insult towards her. In contrast, X-Corp had a good grasp on her character and wasn't hellbent on degrading her at every turn. (I said this was a rant, okay? I'll be charitable to those series some other time). X-Corp itself also had a fun absurdist sense of humour and I enjoyed a lot of it.

Now, since Hickman threw this Penance situation on Monet and never even tried to make sense of it (I think it might actually be a retcon from his perspective - I.e. he's presenting it like this has always been her power), X-Corp had to deal with the question of how this power works, what this transformation means to her.

The approach they go with makes sense, she's Monet most of the time but shifts into Penance when she wants too, and also when she's really upset. Penance is literally a metaphor for social isolation and trauma so this is a good place to start.

But a lot of subsequent cameos have treated it as if her main/only power is transforming into Penance.

Also some of them are super insulting (e.g. spending most of Empyre unconscious)

I fucking hate this.

Giant-Sized X-Men: Storm (may not be the exact title) genuinely did Monet justice. It kept her in character and packed in a lot, including things that a lot of other writers forget (I.e. that she's a genius, and that she doesn't like Emma).

And I really do like her appearance in House of X... I'm just worried if the consequences of this Penance thing are actually a bit mixed. And I hate that I'm saying that because I am in love with the potential of this concept. But so far no writer has seriously engaged with what this means for her beyond the ONE SCENE that X-Corp had time for.

Being trapped in Penance is canonically a recurring nightmare of Monet's. It's canon that at least part of why she's depressed to the point of suicidal ideation shortly after leaving school is because of this. Because of what being Penance was to her. Because it was the form she was trapped in for years while her brother periodically ATE HER BONE MARROW. This is not a simple thing for her. It's not just a cool new power.

This could be such a great thing to explore but I guess they just said "nah".

I'm just really bothered by the fact that in the last FOUR YEARS, Monet's best appearances are:

A one shot that's primarily about another character

A five issue series that, thanks to covid, fell apart before it really got started and is mostly comedy anyway

A cameo in an infinity comic about dungeons and dragons.

I can't. I just can't.

Ok hear me out- the suffer brothers are great and all. The story they have written so far is great and look at all the attention it got. But sometimes they’re put on this pedestal like they’re gods. Yes they brilliant, but they ARE human. All the theories going around talking about ‘What if they made it look like this, for a big twist’ ‘what if they actually didn’t forget wills birthday and it’s gonna be a plot line in s5’ Like cmon, not every single detail in the show is relevant and some big conspiracy. Like how everyone’s mad abt them forgetting wills birthday, shit I would too! They wrote that what?..4-5 years ago?? Maybe longer? Would you remember a small detail like that? Like I’m sorry but the writers are allowed to forget tiny details. It’s not affecting the main plot in any way. Maybe the fans will be mad bc it could’ve been something more, but they are literally human bro. If they come up with some insane twist, props to them. I bet they could. But they are not gods! Some ppl need to give them a break..🥴

Not only referring to Wills birthday, but just all the crazy theories suggesting why certain ppl died, or aren’t dead, etc etc.

I follow this blog that had insane theories abt Billy coming back and at one point believed them, but can we as a fandom just face the fact that maybe the writers actually have never even thought of that? As fans of certain characters, we will pay more attention to them. As writers they are looking at ALL of them. Not the specific tiny details of every single one. That turned into a rant and I wasn’t gonna make this so long but damn it had to be said. My Ted talk is over 🤗

My biggest problem with what you said is the fact they don't rewatch their own show. Like yeah, they created something brilliant and are good writers in some areas and I agree not every detail is intentional or important but they have twisted a bunch of stuff from past seasons to fit s4 and I hate that.

It comes across as careless especially the whole Max and Billy relationship which feels disconnected from S3 as if it didn't happen anf Billy died in S2 when they were at eachother's throats. The forgetting Will's birthday I laughed at but in S1 Winona Ryder had to tell them certain songs hadn't been released yet because they hadn't bothered to do some research. Fic writers do more research than that.

I agree that they're human and aren't masterful geniuses but damn google is right there. They claim they spent all of lockdown perfecting S4 and it was really good but they fucked up certain parts and that's fine to point out.

They're not going to write what we create here and that's fine because I enjoy what they have done and what we have separately. I enjoy their 80s fanboy story and they're not interested in exploring certain characters which is a shame but fair enough.

I do think they get shat on and praised too highly at the same time. Some areas they do brilliantly and others they lack concerningly so but same lol.

Some of the shit fans pull up is insane. They really aren't that thorough and Billy is well dead. I didn't even expect his cameo. That's why people believing Eddie is alive make me laugh. They said he was written to die, that's why he was so likeable. Which in and of itself is lazy because they're scared to kill of the main cast and almost killed Max.

Most of the heartfelt character driven moments are from the actors themselves. Billy's dad, Robin coming out and El's hand on Billy's face. Amazing moments they didn't think of but that doesn't matter because they happened.

I mostly agree with you but I do think they need to at least google a few things every now and then lol

So, I might have a few questions per character, so excuse all of the coming asks. Rebekah Mikaelson. Who do you think her one true love is? Was her unwavering loyalty her undoing? Does she regret sleeping with Damon? Best outfit? Best episode? Best line?

Ok, Rebekah! I'm sure the show wants us to think it was Marcel, but I refuse 🤣 I hated that ship, omg. She RAISED him from a kid, she was like a mother figure, WHYYYY would they do that? 🥲 In terms of relationships, I think out of all Rebekah's flings, what I liked the most was Stefan tbh. I thought they were really cute together, and that episode where he starts out by manipulating her and she knows what he's doing but plays along and then at the end he's just sort of enjoying himself was such a nice one and could've been the start of something. I would've liked to see them pursue that thing.

HOWEVER. I think Rebekah's one true love is herself. Like the moment she finally gets away from her family's drama and Klaus' control is probably when she was happiest. No need for a dude there.

I don't think she regrets sleeping with Damon lol I mean, he was definitely not a high point for her, but why would she regret it? He's hot, so whatever, and it's not like he was a controversial figure for her personally. I don't like how they were all 'Damon is using Rebekah', but wasn't she using him as well? So why can't it be mutually beneficial?

Oooh, best outfits! I love this red fit! I couldn't find a good pic of it on Rebekah, but that's the outfit on that other lady there (I think she's from Teen Wolf?)

And also this one from the masquerade ball. I really liked her general look in this episode! This dress was super pretty, she looked very chic.

And just basically all of her 1910s/20s outfits, both in TVD and TO! She looked so pretty in all of them!

I really liked her and Elena being BFFs when Elena didn't have her humanity. lol That episode where they go on a road trip, I think they're after the cure? Or something? And Rebekah kicks some guy's ass at a bar, and then they end up at the city where Katherine is. Those were nice episodes. I also really like the The Originals episode where Rebekah leaves as a main character, I think its 15 or 16 in season 1, Goodbye to Storyville or something. It's a very strong episode for her and Klaus and where they get to address a lot of the bitterness they had between them since TVD. After that, she only comes back for brief cameos here and there. The scene of her driving off in a convertible is very Rebekah! And I love the song playing in that scene, too. As for best line, you got me there 🤣 My memory is do bad, I don't remember many of her lines. I know she had so many snarky ones that I loved, but I can't think of any now. 🙃 I failed Rebekah 😭

This one requires, well, a lot more context: On the Happy Heroes Discord, I made a headcanon stating that, “Adelian shades (the kind that can be detached from the body) can stick to any Adelian, even if it doesn't belong to the [wearer], but ONLY Adelians (in other words, they can be used to identify peeps who are and aren't Adelians). For example, if Kalo were to give a pair of shades to, let's say Archie, it would stay on his face, but if he gave them to Careful S, they would fall off (he has to hold them in place).” Then @themunflower added on, “Shade swiping is probably a common prank among Adelian kids...One kid has a bunch of shades layered on his face like a sandwich.” I found it too funny not to make a doodle of.

These four characters have been the only characters to actually sing, like, properly, in the whole series/have the most ties to music. And because there were four of them, they could form...a barbershop quartet!

Barbershop quartet actually managed to last, like, several months, which is really impressive! However, they did get erased eventually, and I opted to draw them again but color-coded and smaller.

My first time drawing Russel and Stu! However, I drew it in such a way that, if I wanted everyone to be proportional, Stu had to be cut-off at the top TvT. Meanwhile, Ka Pei and Bella continue to feud in the background.

I mean, how else was she supposed to come back?

Similar to barbershop quartet, I noticed something all four of these dudes have: someone they cared about and, in the climax, had an emotional beat with them; Finch had Lisa, Starshadow had Moondance, Dark Demon had Happy S, and Luthor had Doctor H. Thus, I put them in a club thing where they sort of just hang out, and they recently invited Luthor. I’d imagine Huo Ha Ha sometimes joins them for some afternoon tea. YES I KNOW THE CHAIRS ARE ABSOLUTELY AWFUL-

Even though I drew this much earlier than anything else here, I think it’s still neat.

Omg, yes i agree with everthing you said! I really don't necessary think that most people hate on f!robin just because they're misogynistic, they're most likely just other queer people that are feeling "vindacted" that IS finally acknowledging m!chrobin (and like, I get it! IS has a horrible track when it comes to mlm rep, the fact that m!chrobin isn't a thing in canon and the way they handled the queer male options in 3H is super annoying so I do sympathise with them a lot!) I just wish they wouldn't discount their hatred on her? IS bullshit and homophobia is not her fault?

And yeah, we have this amazing high fantasy world full of dragons, magic and trime travel but queer people having a child is where people draw the line? And why do they feel the need to go on posts of people having fun to remind them that "it's not canon"? I swear that those people love to do that with queer ships, is so annoying. I had this terrible experience recently with some f!chrobin shippers and idk I just felt like they were disgusted at the ideia of Chrom being bi from the way they talked, I hated so much.

Anyway, I'm really sorry for the rant and for reminding you of all the fandom bullshit that you were trying to ignore. I'm just so tired of all of this and I feel like no matter what I say about this anywhere else, I will get called of something bad. I definitely agree - I see how we got here, and I have sympathy, but a lot of it dries up the longer I'm in fandom and I get worn down by people swerving all over the place to take it out on F!Robin or people who did enjoy what we got in canon, I think. And there's also been a weird narrative about her being favored, which I think is extremely untrue if you look at the history of their inclusion in Smash and the trailer, then the amiibo, then the Fates cameo, then Warriors, etc etc. He always gets the lion's share in crossover content and it's really fucking depressing to people who like her!

FEH was the only spot she really had anything "over" him (and even then it was uneven, with him being available at launch with a summoning movie while she was relegated to grail unit added later) and now after an admittedly big wait his legendary here, with a bunch of shippy hints and getting to be himself in his legendary, plus he got the duo I'd give my eyeteeth to have her in, etc. I really think he was always doing fine as far as official rep, and Engage DLC just came along to confirm the same old pattern of "when only one is picked for representing the character in a crossover, it's him". Officially he has historically done well outside of giving nods to shippinness with Chrom, so I think it is both great and understandable that people are so excited about it now. Of course it feels vindicating! But I don't see the reason to sneer at other fans for what they enjoy or their hopes or personal disappointment about a female avatar not being allowed to officially rep the character, lol.

I really can't understand why people see those fans celebrating and decide they have to ruin it. As if those fans aren't already accutely aware of the fact that it isn't canon in the original game. As if that isn't the reason they're so happy in the first place? It is truly such an unwarranted dick move.

I'm really sorry to hear about that recent experience, anon! I love bi Chrom with all my heart - unfortunately I don't talk about it so much because I am an OTPer who's ended up unfathomably annoyed about the male player character, so I only really end up engaging with ship content for him with a female character most of the time, and so functionally the fact that I headcanon him bi ends up not coming up super often. But I love that idea and am extremely attached to it. There are dozens of us! Dozens!! Especially as a queer woman. It's important to me that they are both bi in my head.

I'm unfortunately not surprised to hear that people reacted with disgust - I remember that from my days in DA fandom :( but it never gets easier. It just makes it feel like there's no real place, because the people who like the version you do suck, but if you don't like the other version as much and those people think you suck for liking the one you do, it's just kind of well...here I am, then. Lol.

No need to apologize, anon, I like talking about this kind of thing! I think I'm just worried that I've been spending too much time doing so recently and my friends are going to be absolutely sick of it, lol. And realistically it is better for me to spend less brainspace on people in fandom being shitty, probably? But I think it's good for you to hear that other people in fandom feel the same way and have problems with a lot of different corners, like you do. I hope you have a good night too! There are people out here who just want to ship and have a good time. It's not all bullshit, even if it feels like it sometimes, or even if you end up focusing on it a lot like me. <3

Welp, I beat AA5, and it only took me--*checks watch*--almost 3 months

I've already kind of said most of what I wanted to say about it, but overall...... yeah, gotta agree with the general consensus I've seen in the fandom: it's the worst game so far.

That's not to say it doesn't have a lot going for it, because I can already hardly imagine a version of the series without Athena in it (or Blackquill for that matter), and as convoluted as their shared backstory was it was also REALLY good. Everything going on with Metis, Aura, the robots, and even Aura's crazy actions in the present day of the game? All excellent. No notes.

And Athena's gimmick, as I've already said, is great despite how silly and contrived it is. The evidence it provides is no more convincing in a courtroom setting than Apollo's callouts of witness' nervous ticks, but at least that shortcoming is acknowledged by several characters out loud, and it furthers the narrative started in AA4 that "decisive evidence" can't always be relied upon to find the real truth. So in that sense I think going the route of analytical psychology was a brilliant play on the writers' parts.

...... that is, it WOULD have been brilliant if they hadn't simultaneously turned around and thrown out basically the entire ending of AA4 itself...? Did they even mention the Jurist System ONCE in this game??? I don't know how they would have implemented it without compromising the gameplay loop, but they could have at least ACKNOWLEDGED it as being implemented offscreen or something.

And I don't think Phoenix's characterization is quite as dire as I've seen a couple of people suggest, but I do wish we saw him a little more calculating and poker-faced after his disbarment. It's not that he's OUT of character in this game, imo, but it could have added a lot to the story if he'd been a little more obviously changed by the prior seven years.

................ and then yeah, there's the parts that are just objectively bad writing lol. Klavier's shoehorned and out-of-character cameo, Apollo's out-of-the-blue, piled-on backstory of the week, Phoenix's (and Miles') relatively mild reaction to Trucy being held fucking hostage....

And. Y'know. The 3D models are just ugly. 😔 I like Athena's and Blackquill's and some of the witnesses but everyone from the 2D era looks awful now. (Except Trucy I guess but her sprites are all like.. exactly 1:1 with her old ones and are only seen from one angle, unlike the lawyers.) It's a shame because I LOVE the artwork for the game--Phoenix's new design freaking RULES, but it wasn't translated well from the concept art into the character model. :( Same for Miles. And the less said about Apollo the better

BUT ANYWAY

TL;DR - The game isn't very good imo, but it's also got so many excellent pieces within it that it's not one you should just skip or anything, either. The other games in this series set such a high bar that even the worst of the bunch is still not actually a bad game. It's worth a few frustrating out-of-character moments and especially-contrived plot threads for all the delicious new stuff underneath.

...*sigh* Guess this means I have to start SoJ next. And I've heard mixed things about that one, too, haha.......

#Tyto plays AA #.... idk the first Investigations game might actually give this one a run for its money in the ''worst in the series'' competition #at least in my brain #but that has more to do with its pacing being draggy and its plot being a little less thrilling.#which might not be a fair comparison because the gameplay itself is kinda different to begin with
