Psssst psssst could I request nsfw headcannons for c0ckwarming alhaitham and dottore? Have a wonderful day/night 😚
Cockwarming Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alhaitham is a lazy man, so he would adore cockwarming.
Early morning hard-on? He will happily pull his pajama pants down just enough to let his cock out, slipping it inside you before falling asleep again.
He loves the feeling of being inside you. He would happily lay there for hours with you keeping his cock warm.
He likes to lazily grind against you but never fully thrust his hips into you.
When you're being a brat, he will have you sit on his cock, not letting you move until you're begging him to let you ride him.
"Can my Pet not keep still? That's another five minutes of having to sit here and look pretty."
After you have sex, he doesn't like to pull out. Instead, he lets his soft cock stay inside you as the two of you cuddle.
When you're connected like this, he can't keep his hands off you, always running them along your body, leaving behind goosebumps in their wake.
He will do just about anything to keep you on his cock, keeping you distracted with sweet kisses and mumbling about "five more minutes."
Tumblr media
Working in the lab? Of course he expects his pretty assistant to keep his cock warm.
He always has you sitting in his lap while you work, chest to chest.
You are not allowed to talk or wiggle while he's working. You just have to be a good warm hole for him to use.
If you move too much or make a sound, he won't hesitate to slap your bare ass, leaving a bright red mark before returning to his work.
But of course, he always rewards you when you do a good job. He will even let you decide how he fucks you if you were perfect for him.
Most of the time cockwarming is a punishment for you, to make you squirm, or simply for his own pleasure.
But some nights after you have sex, he can't help but keep his cock buried inside you.
If you try to move away to clean up or roll over, his arm will wrap around you, pulling you right back into place.
The two of you will fall asleep like this, connected for the entire night.

platonic; 1k; reader is cautious about friendships due to past experience.
Tumblr media
“Do you think you’ll ever change your mind about being friends with me?”
Alhaitham’s hand froze, pen paused mid-sentence. Ink dripped once or twice onto the paper, and you watched it intensely so that you would not see his expression.
“I mean, I know you eventually will,” you continued, “but how… soon… do you think that will happen?”
You couldn’t help your gaze from falling on his face. Your fellow scholar was staring sharply across the library table at you, eyes slightly wider than usual.
“Don’t look at me like that,” you said, feeling a bit antsy. “It’s just a question.”
“A baffling one,” he finally said, and then pressed his lips into a line.
“I just want to see where you’re at. It’s been… how long, three years now? So you should have some idea by now, right?”
Alhaitham laid his pen in its case, leaning back into the chair with his arms crossed over his chest. He humphed. “I refuse to answer that question until you properly elaborate on why you’re asking it. We were sitting in what I assumed to be peaceful silence, doing our reading—which, mind you, is completely unrelated to your inquiry as I recall. And now you’re asking me that. To me, it’s coming out of nowhere. So please, explain yourself.”
He was delaying his answer, and it was only making you feel more frantic. Was he going to leave you behind that quickly? Were you catching him on the way out? “I only want to be prepared.”
“Prepared, you say?”
“Y-yes, prepared.”
“For?”
You let go of a long, shaky sigh, acknowledging that he would not relent. “People get tired of me, you know. I’m not exactly the easiest person to be around. It’s usually possible for me to anticipate exactly how long people are going to last, but with you… I haven’t wanted to think about it. So I’ve got to ask you directly. I’ve got to know how long I have so that I don’t take you for—” Your voice cracked, and you cleared your throat before finishing the sentence, “—for granted.”
Alhaitham pinched between his eyes. He sounded unmistakably bothered. “And how long have you been meaning to ask me?”
You cleared your throat again, averting your eyes to the bookshelves around the table. You could feel tears pricking at your eyes but you did not permit them to fall.
“Awhile, huh?”
You squeezed your eyes shut, praying the tears would go back in.
He clicked his tongue. You could feel his glare on you even as you admired the cut of the Adhigama wood. One book was hanging out of the shelf. You stood up suddenly and walked over to fix it so that Alhaitham would not see your jaw trembling. You had meant for this to be a logical, calm conversation. Damn, you thought, shoving the book back into place. Pull yourself together.
You felt the shadow of Alhaitham leaning his elbow on a shelf to look at you. “You asked me a question and then walked away. Do you want to hear my answer, or not?”
With a shrug, you focused on the feeling of the book's spine under your lingering fingertips. It was a cloth hardcover. Some of the tiny weaving was worn out.
“Alright. I’ll start with all of the things you got wrong. First of all, it is not fair to neither me nor you for such a question to be asked. We cannot know the future and there is no use in living outside of the reality of the present. You may not prepare.”
You stayed silent, pulling the book out and pushing it back in again over and over again. With your other hand, you wiped away one disobedient teardrop.
“Secondly, I wonder if you were paying attention to the words you were saying. You said you’re not the easiest person for ‘people’ to be around.” Neither was he, you thought. “Well, neither am I,” he said, echoing your thought.
“Okay,” you said, “but still.”
He scoffed. “‘But still’? That’s your best argument against my point?”
You laughed, although it sounded a bit more like a sob. He was correct, there. “You still haven’t answered my question, Alhaitham.”
“I see no need.”
You looked up at him, eyes wide and red.
He considered this. “Fine, I see a need. But you're picturing I’ll tell you something I haven’t once implied, I hope. I am not going to change my mind about being friends with someone who means as much to me as you do. That’s not how friendship works, and I am rather distressed that you are under such an impression.”
“Alh—”
“Let me be clear. I am not changing my mind on you. I’m going to stay your friend as long, if not longer, than you will allow it.”
You rubbed both your eyes with the heels of your hands. “Well, that’s real nice of you.”
You did not believe him, and you could tell that he knew this. “Besides,” he conceded, “who else is going to sit with me in the library for eight hours just because they like being around me? People don’t do that.”
“Im not people,” you said.
“No,” he agreed. “You’re not. And neither am I.”
Tumblr media
ps. dear that one irl who might end up reading this (the one who has literally asked me this question) (you really are a devoted gal if you're here right now, people don't just read other people's fanfiction for a fandom they know nothing about) (unless you're howdy) (but you're not), alhaitham's response is my response to you.
i relate to him for reasons i hope are clear.

Alhaitham wasn’t the type to worry about mundane things. Rather, he would simply ignore them and go along with his day as if nothing happened, never letting it plague his mind or, he simply didn’t hear anything at all when he had his soundproof earpieces on. However, even though he says he doesn’t worry about anything at all as life already has many hardships, when it comes to comments about you…sometimes, he does tend to worry a little bit.
“Do you think I’m overwhelming?”
Upon hearing the deep voice, your eyes slowly began to open before blinking away the drowsiness that had nearly consumed you, noticing how you were currently relaxing on your boyfriend’s couch and that same boyfriend, who was currently seated beside your head, brushing away the straying strands of hair to make sure he didn’t accidentally sit on them.
“What do you mean by that?” you quietly asked, before ushering him to sit comfortably as you wanted to place your head upon his lap, to which Alhaitham happily obliged upon noticing how your smile brightened once you had found a suitable position to place your head on.
“Do you think I’m too much?” Alhaitham seriously queried, causing you to confusingly peek up at the Acting Grand Sage, who was currently running his fingers through your hair, as if to not only help you relax, but to also help calm himself down from the anticipation of your pending answer.
“I do not think you are overwhelming at all, matter of fact, I think you are comforting,” you answered with a small smile as you weaved your arms around his leg like it was some sort of pillow before closing your eyes again, thinking this section of the conversation was over.
“Are you sure?” Alhaitham questioned immediately after, as he began to trace the shape of your ear leading you to internally shiver at the feeling, “do I make you happy…am I the right partner for you?”
Perplexed at his sudden interrogation, you opened your eyes once again before slowly turning on to your back, peering up to notice how his face was still as stoic as ever, yet there was a glint of uncertainty in his beautiful eyes. His hand now gently stroking your cheek, tracing little letters upon the surface on your skin, as if he was trying to convey the thoughts in his mind to you before you placed your hand on top of his while nuzzling into his inner palm. “You always make me happy,” you responded earnestly. “Physically, emotionally, in every way you make me so happy.”
“Physically?” Alhaitham replied with a teasing tone.
“Oh? So, you’re going to act like we never slept together?” you shot back while glaring at him, “from what I recall, you are the one with the insatiable drive in this relationship.”
Quickly forgetting his worries from before, Alhaitham couldn’t help but recall the first time you both had met. You both were students enrolled in the Akademiya and both studying in the same darshan, yet looking back, he didn’t see you in class much - you would argue that was because he never really came to class. However, he does remember the first time you both bumped into each other in the House of Daena, when you were both looking for the same material needed for your research. You were pretty quiet and somewhat shy since you didn’t meet his gaze when you apologised. Although, as time went by, he immediately noticed how you were usually studying alone night after night and how much you hated group projects when he saw you surrounded by other students doing nothing but chatting while you were researching everything to make sure the project was successful. After noticing the annoyance on your face after the lecturer announced another group project he started coming into class to see you more, but he would never admit it due to his pride, he took it upon himself to become partners with you (much to your surprise) and since then, you never really paired up with anyone else.
When your relationship processed into something romantic, Alhaitham remembered how red-faced you got whenever he initiated a kiss behind the bookshelves or how you would turn away from his gaze when he would take hold of your hand behind his back, out of plain sight away from the other students. Now the Acting Grand Scribe didn’t have much to any experience when it came to romance, yet he didn’t think you would be as bashful as you were during the beginning stages. Yet, eventually, you became more confident in what you wanted. If you wanted a kiss, he would happily give you one, if you wanted to kiss him, you would find him anywhere in Sumeru to give him one. If you wanted a hug, Alhaitham would pull you onto his lap to let you indulge in his warmth and comfort however long you wanted. If you wanted to submit to your desires, Alhaitham would gladly give you the pleasure you had craved for and if he had to be honest, his appetite for you will probably never be satisfied and if he could, he would make you stay in bed forever, where the two of you would never be disturbed.
“What’s gotten into you, why are you asking all these questions?” you asked in concern, as you sat up to get a clearer view of your lover, who was disappointed in your sudden lack of touch, only to be delighted once again when you took a seat on his lap before wrapping your arms around his neck.
“I just heard from some people that I might be ‘too much’ and that I’m suffocating you in this relationship,” Alhaitham explained while pulling you closer to him, as if he was trying to keep you from running away from him (as if you ever would).
“When were you the type to worry about what people say about you?” you questioned before placing your hand on his cheek to comfort him to which he instantly nuzzled into your inner palm, while inhaling a faint scent he could get from your handcream.
“I don’t care about those who talk about me, what I do care if those concerns are to do with anything about you,” your lover responded.
“My love,” you softly called out before placing a kiss upon his other cheek, “I am and have been the happiest person in all of Teyvat ever since you came into my life.”
Alhaitham, who was used to conveying his feelings in a factual manner, was now comfortably silent as he tightened his hold on you once again, before hiding his face in your neck.
“You don’t know, do you? Do you know how much I love and adore you? Alhaitham, you are my heart. Archons, you are the most hardest and yet the most easiest person to love, because it’s impossible for me not to love you,” you proclaimed with glassy eyes, having no idea why you were getting so emotional. “I cherish you so much and that scares me because how am I supposed to properly function if you chose to leave?”
“By eating a balanced meal every day and keeping healthy,” Alhaitham answered softly, causing you to giggle at his reposone, while also shaking your head at the slight disbelief that he had the audacity to say that after your emotional confession. However, you understood that this was his way of going back to his rational mindset as you felt him smile upon your shoulder before he pressed a light kiss upon your cheek, kissing away the tear that somehow escaped.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” the Scribe repeated as he slowly leaned back onto the couch, while comforting you in his tight embrace to gently calm you down from your sudden emotional state, allowing you to firmly hold onto him, as if he was going to let you go anytime soon.
Alhaitham wasn’t the type to worry about mundane things. As mentioned before he would rather simply ignore them and go along with his day as if nothing happened, never letting it plague his mind…well, that is no lie nor was it ultimately the truth. When it came to the simplest things about you, Alhaitham would be the first one to know and attentively listen to anything of concern when it came to you. Your happiness was his priority and the knowledge he had wished to gain can be an afterthought. Right now and maybe to the end of his time, you were also his heart.

Honey, I’m Home! ~ Alhaitham x Liyue!Reader
Tumblr media
“Girlfriend?! You?!” Kaveh’s face showed nothing but utmost shock. “I don’t believe a word you say! Nobody would! I mean -- You?! There’s no way any sane woman would stay around you!” “I am not one to respond to baseless provokation, however, I have to point out that you directly insulted my partner intellect and mental well-being, to which I cannot remain silent - Though, I suppose you are intoxicated and there’s little I should care about. No word coming out of your mouth is ever worth taking into account to begin with.” Alhaitham, much to his mate’s irritation, didn’t even raise his gaze from the book he was reading. “Hey, you--! You’re SO insufferable!” the poor architect growled in anger. “Since when? You never told me about her, and we’ve known each other for enough years! You’d have let it slip somehow - Or, at least, your arrogance would’ve!”  “Your impression on my personality has nothing to do with any kind of potential slip you think I might have had. As a matter of fact, the existence of a significant other had never been a secret to begin with. You just never asked, therefore, I had no reason to go out of my way and brag about my perfectly accomplished life, considering not only your living conditions, but your infinitely tragic luck. I did not want to bother with you crying again, out of nowhere.” Kaveh threw a random book at his mate’s head, which annoyingly enough, he masterfully caught without as much as blinking. “GAHH, I HATE YOU SO MUCH!” the man whined, slamming his face into the table. “FINE! TELL ME! ENLIGHTEN ME! WHO IS THIS MYSTERY WOMAN THAT MANAGED TO IGNORE THE INFINITE AMOUNT OF NEGATIVE TRAITS AND THAT STUPIDLY ARROGANT AND UNAPPROACHABLE FACE OF YOURS?! IS SHE BLIND?!” “There is nothing wrong with her eye function. In fact, she often compliments my appearance.” the scribe pointed out. “We have been together since a year before we presented our graduation thesis.” poor Kaveh spit out the beer he was drinking. “HOW LONG?!” he was absolutely convinced he was lying. “There’s NO way that is, in any way, true!” “If you don’t believe me, there are plenty ways to search for proof on your own. The only thing I would have to warn you about is not to use your usual barbaric ways of speaking to her, if you manage to find her. You will scare her away.” Kaveh couldn’t help but glare at Alhaitham, though, considering the amount of unceremonious yelling he just did, he couldn’t refute much. “Fine, whatever - Tell me about her. How you met. Something. Anything relevant. I’ll see after if I believe you.” Alhaitham had to fight the smirk off his face as he hummed in amusement - It was so easy to get a rise out of this fool. “Y/N is originally from Liyue, although you can say, after finishing her Amurta course and graduated, she would spend about half a year back home to take care of her family and help with the medicine aspect of the country.” Kaveh’s eyes suddenly shot open and he gasped. “Hold up! Is this the Liyue friend that Tighnari mentioned? They were in the same Darshan and -- They worked on their thesis together a lot and -- And Cyno too, on enough occasions -- Is that her?!” Alhaitham shrugged his shoulders, though he knew it was the truth. There were a lot of references that one must use in the bibliography, and the practical percentage of her thesis she did on the comparison of Fauna and Flora from Sumeru and Liyue was done for the most part with Tighnari. Y/N often mentioned the fennec boy being her only friend for the many years she in Akademiya.
Alhaitham knew, no matter how nice of a person you were, if you had a unique brilliance, the common flock of mindless sheep were bound to be rude to you. He was no stranger to the endless amount of insults he received from many, although, in almost the same ponder, he also had many more compliments of all kind, be that on his intelligence, on his work, or... His looks especially. Tighnari and Cyno were no strangers to this kind of treatment, but at least they had each other - For the most part.
Back then, having a new student, from another country no less - A country with a rich history, though not as much focus on studies as Sumeru - A new student that, through thorough examination, was able to start her Amurta studies not from the first year, but skipped about a half of the years required to graduate.
From the get-go, Y/N was a bit of an odd one, and the students of Akademiya were no less lenient with her, nor did they bother teaching her about cultural differences and what not. Alhaitham, too, noticed something strange, but it was different from everyone else. Was it that he never heard her speak, even once? Or that, were it not for the amount of gossips and bullying he witnessed, she’d have been walking the halls of the House of Daena like an invisible ghost, unseen, unwanted, unneeded by all around her?
Or, perhaps, it was that there was a large amount of books that she was reading - Manuals, text-books, works, thesis of all kind, from different Darshan courses even - And for the most time, she’d read them all outside, in the forest, far away from the Akademiya; As far away as possible, if need be.
And despite the awful treatment she received, and the amount of diligent hard-work she was putting into her courses, she never seemed to frown or let things affect her. She wasn’t smiling either, and her tiredness was showing - Still, it almost looked endearing; A brilliant woman, so effortlessly beautiful and graceful in everything she did, wearing a passive, demure smile on her face, even if none wanted to appreciate it.
Were all women from Liyue like this, he wondered? Most Sumeru women he had the displeasure of conversing with were so obnoxious and emotion-driven; Oft times, he even wondered if the inspector examining them did his job well enough, because he himself could see no ounce of anything clever in their bleak, dark minds of theirs. No that the men were any different, but they had the courtesy of avoiding him like the plague, to which, Alhaitham was grateful. He never cared for idle chatting for no reason.
Hence why, he needed to concoct a proper conversation reason, otherwise, there would be no sense to start speaking with the new student.
Luck had always favoured him for some reason, and instead of wasting his time with needless research, it was Y/N herself who came over to him. She nodded her head at him as a courtesy greeting, and introduced herself as Y/N from the Amurta class. She explained that, although her thesis was based on biology, she had plenty of interests in many other areas, and having heard him as the most remarkable student from Haravatat, it was a no brainer that she’d come to him requesting aid for some book and course recommandations.
Though his reply was a simple yet positive one, informing her that, once he gathers some time, he will see what he could do, she offered him a grateful, princess-like smile, and this time, a brief courtesy, before leaving. For a split second, Alhaitham had to wonder if this Y/N had any amount of noble blood in her lineage - No woman could act so perfectly elegant all the time without some proper training from before you even begin breathing into this world.
Regardless, Alhaitham found himself completely abandoning his work for a whole day in search of accommodating Y/N, and when he searched for her with the piles of books he had for her, all of them old, dusty and tattered, she was outside, under a tree, reading a story to a little fox. Such odd behaviour - Though the fox seemed to enjoy it, as it was purring in her lap as it was being stroked. It was quite the sight for sore eyes, he had to admit.
“Ah, so fast, you needn’t! You are far too kind - There is no way to repay you for your kindness. Allow me to treat you to some tea and a meal tomorrow, please.” Alhaitham shook his head, sitting down next to her. “There are few people actually interested in proper research and academics. If someone came to me, willing to learn, there is no reason why I should decline.” he answered simply. “I do not require any reward. Simply put, I did it because I wanted to. However, if you want to repay me, then tell me - Why do you read so many books, when a lot of pointed information can be found out by simply asking through the Akasha terminal.” Y/N smiled at him enigmatically. “That is a question to which I cannot provide an answer. Not because I am unwilling to disclose the information - In fact, it’s quite silly, rather. The reason behind my silence is that... Due to this device you are wearing, if there is anything that I tell you, whether you wish to share this information with anyone or not, the whole network of people using the Akasha device are going to know, by simply asking. The people wearing this device cannot control the information they disclose - It is actually quite frightening, I might say.” Alhaitham’s jade-like green eyes peered deep into her own; They were so gentle and warm, almost resembling those of a fawn, yet even he could discern the tint of sorrow and loneliness pooling behind them. “You almost sound like a criminal speaking like that.” at the faintest hint of a crystalline chuckle, Alhaitham’s heart skipped a beat - Just one, of course, he simply wasn’t expecting such a sound as a response to his words. Was there something amusing in what he said. “Well, I suppose, considering nobody taught me the laws of Sumeru, there is little I can say to refute such a statement. Who knows, perhaps, in my ignorance, I might have managed to stray away from the right path. Regardless, what I can say is - I am forced by conjuctures to personally gather the information I am seeking. Whatever you wish to do with that information, it is up for your own interpretation, and I am unable to either approve or disprove it.” the man couldn’t help but scoff a little, though he came up with an answer easily.
Somehow, this pretty little princess was just about as much of a fairy as he was, and she, for some reason, managed to trick her way into not wearing a Terminal - Or she made it malfunction. Either way, it would make perfect sense.
“Fascinating as it is to guess, I am no philosopher, I am a researcher who bases his work on the factual, not on stories. I will not lose time coming to an uncertain conclusion.” for some reason, his words made the woman next to him chuckle again, for the second time in less than half an hour. Interesting. “Then, may I be so bold as to ask for your aid again, should I require again some kind of help oh some kind?” the woman asked, seeing as he got up, picking up the large pile of books, yet he seemed to have no intention of handing them other. “If the time allows me to take a detour from my work, then I suppose I see no reason not to help.” he answered briefly. As Y/N stepped in front of him, placing her hands over his own, in an attempt to burden the heavy weight of knowledge, he simply stepped past her. “Just show me where to get them. You may be ignorant of Sumeru’s own law code, but I doubt you would be foolish enough to ignore the laws of physics and even delude yourself that you could carry them yourself and reach home without as much as one of them at least being damaged.” he spoke, walking ahead.
Y/N couldn’t help but blink in surprise at the rather adorable and gentlemanly reaction of the otherwise stoic in inabordable man, however, she couldn’t help but smile in amusement, catching up to his pace and leading the way. “Judging by your your looks, there is no way you weight more than these books, therefore, given their mass, Newton’s law says that an object can only move another if its mass is greater. A single kilogram equals to exactly 9,81 Newtons. With this knowledge, we have to exchange the parameters with actual numbers, in the Law of Force, which says that Force equals the multiplying of the mass and acceleration of said object; And since acceleration is measured in meters per square second --” he continued ranting on and on about the laws of physics and the approximates he took, only to feel a hand powerfully slap the bottom of the book stack, making them all fly aimlessly in the sky - And be caught with the aid of Y/N’s Dendro vision powers. Y/N was smiling like an innocent child, though, with the way she was fighting back a smirk, it only made her look like a playful, mischievous vixen. “Alhaitham --” she said, a hand covering her smirking mouth. “Has anyone ever told you how adorable you are when you’re rambling with no sense?” the man couldn’t help but be rooted to the spot, completely unresponsive.
What did she mean? Him, ranting idly, for no apparent reason whatsoever? That was completely unlike him - Surely, she must be mistaken - He was trying to educate her; There is reason in everything he says. “Come along, I recently brought over some fantastic bamboo dew tea -- Oh, and I suppose, if you’re interested, I have some sweet Osmanthus wine also, the finest batch. Mr. Zhongli himself vouched for the quality, and there’s no other like him, a true connoisseur in everything fine.” with a delicate hand wrapped gently around his wrist, Y/N guided the speechless man toward her home - A pretty, tall house made out of wood, vines and leaves of all kinds, all of it, carved inside a grand tree. With a wave of her other hand, she created a staircase out of liana, allowing them to get up to the top-most part of her house, where her library was. “It isn’t much, but I hope you feel comfortable enough during your stay.” still, Alhaitham couldn’t utter another word as he went to sit down on the couch. Though he couldn’t help himself and analysed every inch of the chamber, he could still faintly feel the slight rise in his cheeks’ temperature, biological and physiological truth which irked him greatly, as it gave away the speed with which his heart beat, and, consequently, the fact that, despite his ration-based life, he was somehow able to be weak before the effortless charms of a woman like Y/N, who made him act like a fool.
But unlike him, Y/N seemed to be his own personal anti-thesis; Y/N seemed so calm and friendly, so warm and with just the right amount of conversation lines that didn’t border on the obnoxious type of talkative. In fact, Alhaitham might even have to admit, he didn’t mind the sound of her voice, in fact, he might as well admit that he found it rather pleasant to his ears. In only she’d know the stimulant effect her presence alone has on his heart’s rhythm, as though someone had secretly injected him with adrenaline... There must be something to be done about this.
As he asked her about her thesis, he swore, he could see sparkles in her eyes - Her infinite amount of love and dedication for the flora and fauna of both countries was insurmountable - Y/N was writing her thesis out of passion of the living beings, not necessarily out of sheer interest in research, though everything that she’s assimilated clearly set her on the right path. In must have been some kind of miracle that his plan on working on a thesis with that good for nothing Kaveh from  Kshahrewar; Simply, he erased his name from it, and moved on to a singular part of the research, though he had to admit, the environmental conditions weren’t the brightest - The subject, at least, was highly fascinating.
“Would you be interested in writing a project together?” he found himself asking all of a sudden. “A senior had previously proposed a thesis subject that interested me, alas, due to differences of opinions and views, the project fell through. The topic of my half of the thesis was the decoding of the ancient runes from the Ruins of King Deshret's Civilization.” “That does sound like quite the intriguing thesis, and I have to admit, I would also be interested in researching the history of the old civilization... But I’m not used to the harsh environment of the desert, I... Am not sure I would be a proper asset to the team.” Alhaitham hummed in understanding - Even Sumeru people had a hard time dealing with the desert, and knowing the landscapes and the weather from Liyue, he could see the reason behind her reticence. Still, he was passionate not only about this project, but about spending quality time with the woman before him, doing what they know best to do - Study. “As long as you’re willing to join the project, I can deal with accommodating you during the practical field research, as I’m more familiar with the country.” despite her skepticism, Y/N couldn’t help but accept, completely uncaring about any risk whatsoever. As long as she was able to spend time with the man in front of her, everything was going to be fine. “Alright, Alhaitham. Let’s make the most outstanding project the Akademiya has ever seen.” her positive outlook was a rather welcome change of pace, unlike Kaveh and his constant wish to either bicker with him, or complain.
For the rest of the years it took for both Alhaitham and Y/N to graduate, they went on a vast number of adventures - Considering the amount of time it took for them to reach the graduation, it was only fair that they extend their thesis for three major regions - Deshret’s desert area, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata’s Sumeru forests and Rex Lapis’ Liyue - Each of them, with their own distinct and fascinating manuscripts, writing styles, flora, fauna and civilizations that have been rapidly evolving throughout the years. Their project ended up truly being one worthy of envy, but not without merit.
The amount of times they got lost in the desert or had to fight mercenaries and treasure hoarders, got trapped inside pyramids, ruins and underground catacombs, had to solve puzzles and decipher codes, decode runes and languages lost to time, found relics and fossils, cave paintings and old manuscripts describing never-seen and never-heard before wildlife from all over the two countries.
“Are we ever going to find a way out of this mess of a tomb? I feel like a grave-robber that’s about to lose her sanity from the lack of food and water.” Y/N dramatically joked as she used her vines to propel herself up to some suspended platforms and activate some intricate mechanism that was going to open up the door - Hopefully, at least. “We haven’t done all this for all our work to be thrown down the drain.” as the door opened, he readied his sword to attack the activating perpetual robotic monsters, and together, they would fight - Yet Alhaitham especially felt a sense of protectiveness over Y/N - Whether it was over the fact that he’s practically responsible for her life, as he got her into the project... Or perhaps it was the fact that he feared anything happened to her. She was a talented healer, and she often used her vision power to shield him from imminent danger or mend some of the wounds he got from direct confrontation against multiple enemies that came in waves at once.
Though they had lots of practical field trips that involved a ton of travelling, the simpler parts of theoretical research was often done in far calmer environments, be it either of their homes, or a neutral place, namely the popular tea house, so they could also catch a bite. Unfortunately, Puspa cafe often hosted a ton of Akademiya students, and that more often than not meant some of their own classmates, that due to exceeding envy, ended up ruining their pleasant leisure time. Just like that one time when a junior from his own Darshan of Haravatat came over to their table - Masterfully and tactically chosen to be the farther-most, retreated from the majority of the people and in a corner away from the prying eyes - And put her hands on her hips, frowning down at them.
“What are you doing here?!” the stranger asked in a rather irritated voice, yet neither of the two even bothered raising their gaze and acknowledge her presence. “Hey - Don’t ignore me, you -- Gosh, you’re so rude.” still, no answer. “Alhaitham~! Why do you waste your time around such a boring woman? She’s no good, y’know? You don’t need to help her with her studies - She’s a plant lover from Amurta - Nowhere near our above-brilliant Haravatat intellect!” the girl whined, hoping to get the man’s attention, yet once again, she was met with no response. Infuriated, the girl threw herself on the couch next to him, clinging onto his arm and cuddling on his side. “Alhaitham~! You are my senior! You promised to help me with research. In fact - Let’s do our thesis together!” Much to her indignance, the stranger was shrugged off the sofa, and received an irked glare. “I have no idea who you are, nor am I interested in your identity, but I would like for you to stop bothering our study session, otherwise I will be forced to ask the patron to kick you out of the cafe for disturbing other customers.” the flabbergast expression on her face would have been amusing, were it not for her disgusting hostility. “Wait, no -- You can’t do that, I -- Alhaitham, don’t you remember me? I’m your Junior, Emiya! You gave me a book about deciphering ancient texts a month ago, remember?” she tried to plead, but was met with a firm, negative reply. “And you -- You have to stop parasiting him already! Do your own work, for once! Can’t you see you’re inconveniencing him?!” Y/N said nothing. “Say something!” “The Phoenix does not lose sleep over the idle chattering of mice.” Emiya’s eyes widened in complete confusion, though Alhaitham couldn’t help but let out a breath of amusement. She fancied herself an Empress, how lovely. “Wh-What?! You make no sense -- Hey, you’re in Sumeru, not in Liyue anymore, y’know? Get it right already.” for the first time, Y/N rose her gaze to meet Emiya’s; the junior shuddered slightly, realising the cold passiveness of her intimidating demeanour. “I don’t know what kind of delusions you like to feed yourself, but I would ask you to leave our table, unless you wish to get permanently banned from Puspa. I would like to return to the research I was doing for our thesis, until you so rudely interrupted our tireless work. Unlike you, we are not so carefree and leisurely.” Y/N curt voice had a frozen edge, intimidating the girl. “Well, whatever! Go back to your stupid grass work. Alhaitham and I have more intelligent research to conduct - And some practical research, perhaps?” Y/N had to turn her head slightly to the side, demurely hiding her mocking chuckle. “I believe it unethical, stealing one’s project partner. Alas, willow blossoms go in dreams, only to find sorrows hidden on the moon.” Emiya’s eyes were wide, and her jaw to the floor - Her mind had gone numb from stupidity. “You pride yourself with being a Haravatat student, yet you fail to comprehend even the most forward of poems. I have no intention of associating myself with mediocre people.” Alhaitham dismissed the tearing up girl with a bored wave of his hand; Y/N and him had to look away from each other to avoid chuckling, “So... I actually found this interesting Zaytun Peach wine recipe -- And I have some Glaze Lily flowers and Sweet Flower to make tea - I’ve got this snow kept for special occasions - I find tea made out of melted snow to have the richest aroma.” Y/N said, disclosing the contents of the book she was reading; The farthest away from being a research-based book. “The history of the Guili plains and the Guizhong ballista are also rather intriguing. I would be interested in finding out the blueprints and the thought concept behind it and its making.” he hummed in acknowledgement, enjoying reading about the past of Liyue and what similarities and differences exist between it and Sumeru. “Do we have any more of that special delivery Dandelion Wine from Angel’s Share?” “Of course! Master Diluc just recently had a few bottles delivered to me through his brother Kaeya, who was on an errand here in Sumeru. He didn’t stay long for catching up, but he brought the goods, so it’s fine either way.” with a shared look, the two got up and moved their leisure reading back to Y/N’s home, delighting themselves with the most quality wine that Teyvat had to offer. “That’s a fine deal.”
At some point, just a year before their graduation, Alhaitham was going to purchase some alcohol to celebrate a massive breakthrough he had in his research - And consequently, escaping yet another death-nearing experience - His ex-project partner, the senior architect student from Kshahrewar, spotted him. This blond man with a volcanic personality ended up shredding his joined thesis in a fit of frustrating rage, only to end up gluing back together out of regret, once he ended up all alone, bankrupt, and realising his once friend’s harsh words were actually viable advices that he should have heeded long ago.
There was no reproach in his words - Alhaitham had nothing to gain out of making Kaveh feel even more humiliated by his own failures, brought upon him mostly by his overly empathetic nature. He had to admit, bit of this precious and rather naive selflessness he could very often see in Y/N, which only made him feel more afraid that there might be some brainless deadbeats upsetting her or taking advantage of her benevolence.
Still, interestingly enough, after getting drunk enough to spill out all of his grievances, Kaveh found himself speaking of some rather interesting rumours. “Ever heard of the flower fairy rumour?” he asked. “They say once a month, at midnight, there’s this mystical being, beautiful as no other woman, and she dances on the sheen of the lake.” “You don’t seriously believe such ridiculous children stories, do you?” Alhaitham scoffed, raising the beer bottle and drinking a bit, yet his eyes never once left the blond. “I believe it more than the Wisdom Seelie, the children of the forest or the Aranara.” the architect grumbled. “How ridiculous.” still, he couldn’t admit, Alhaitham had his own suspicions on who this might be, and his professional curiosity had him want to come to a concludent answer. “Honestly, if that flower fairy is real, she might be the only living being capable of liking someone as arrogant and insufferable as you. No human woman could ever stand you.” Kaveh hiccuped as he sneered at his refound friend. Such a proposition sounded so much like a challenge, that Alhaitham found himself internally accepting.
Thus, every night for a whole month, Alhaitham hid behind a tree and investigated the lake area for any signs of this supposed fairy - And finally, his hard work came to fruition. From the direction of Y/N’s home, followed by an array of forest animals, the glowing silhouette of a gorgeous woman playing a sorrowful tune on the flute piqued his attention. Indeed, it was Y/N, just as he suspected, yet now he could see why she would be mistaken for a fairy. Wherever her barefeet would step, flowers would grow. Her long, light pink dress, flowy and embroidered with the finest gold thread, made her look like a lotus bloom. Her long hair of the most beautiful shade was embellished with royal-looking jewellery, and even her make up, so soft and delicate, yet so feminine, made her face look prettier than the moon itself.
Placing the flute inside her sleeve, Y/N stepped on the mirror sheen of the lake that seemed to sparkle with zircons from the silver light of the celestial body up on the dark night sky, and accompanied by what no doubt was an old Liyue melody, Y/N performed a dance, so enticing, so fluid, like a willow tree in the gentle breeze of spring. Every move she made, every little twitch and tweak of her joint, her body, all of them were perfectly calculated, even the amount of green dendro magic that made her performance even more alluring and worthy of being mistaken with a fictional mythical being.
By the time she was done, Alhaitham was leaning back on a tree, applauding. From the shock of being discovered, Y/N’s cheeks flared red with warmth and embarrassment. “Of course it had to be you who would find me out.” “It was actually a senior of mine who mentioned the rumours of this supposed flower fairy. I had my suspicions, and I felt compelled to have them approved or denied.” the corner of his mouth slightly twitched upwards in a smug smirk. “It seems my intuition hasn’t failed me yet.” “Tian na!” Y/N found herself softly shaking her head, a gorgeous smile gracing her features as she stepped on the soft grass next to him. “Fate sure has the weirdest ways of bringing people together.” Alhaitham found himself scoffing in distaste at the sheer notion of destiny. “Don’t use such foolish words. We are humans, and we create our of path in life. It is our actions and choices that define us, not the biblical or religious concept of a life already chosen and woven for you since before you are conceived and brought into this wor--” before he could continue rambling on about his own views on fate, Y/N reached up to pick his chin, bringing him down to her level, and with one hand on his shoulder to lean up, she captured his soft lips into a kiss that left him speechless from surprise.  “For years we have been friends, yet I cannot tire of how adorable you are when you’re so flustered that you end up ranting over the weirdest things.” Alhaitham wanted to scold her for doing something so uncharacteristic and unexpected, wanted to refute her claim of him ranting over ‘weird’ things - Or simply, the idea of him ‘ranting’ was ridiculous - Somehow, instead of all that, his body moved on his own and his brain took a short break, and the otherwise stoic man found himself cradling dearly Y/N’s form in his strong arms and sharing a much more loving and intimate kiss that seemed to allow the river of emotions to flow and come undone and expose itself in all its glory and vulnerability.
“You are bulshitting me because I’m drunk.” Kaveh growled at his friend. “You just randomly remembered those stupid rumours about the fairy thing and use that against me.” “I already told you, it’s not my job proving to you that I’m speaking the truth.” Alhaitham simply took another gulp of his beer. “But you said the fairy was just a stupid joke! And you never mentioned working on a thesis with someone else! Or having a friend, let alone a girlfriend! Hell, I thought nobody liked you! I still do!” the architect pointed an accusatory finger in his face. “I refuse to bother replying to your ridiculous disbeliefs anymore.” the scribe huffed, ready to take out his headphones and tune out the noise pollution that Kaveh was providing. “HEY, DON’T IGNORE ME! GIVE ME ANSWERS! I DON’T BELIEVE THAT STUPID STORY--” just as Kaveh shot up to his feet, slamming his hands onto the table, the front door was opened, and a beautiful woman entered the living room. “Honey, I’m home~!” her crystalline voice chimed, making Alhaitham smirk smugly and putting back his headphones in his belt pouch. “I brought some Osmanthus wine and moon cakes!” Kaveh’s eyes bulged out of their orbit and his jaw was to the floor, watching the beautiful woman plop down on the couch next to his friend and sharing such a tender kiss with him. “Oh - You must be Kaveh! I heard so much about you! I’m Y/N. Alhaitham’s fiance. I came to Sumeru from Liyue and enrolled in the Amurta Darshan course and graduated with a joined thesis written with him.” “F-F-Fi... Fi... Ance...?!” the blond fell back on his seat. “I-I thought you said... Girlfriend...” “I actually used the word ‘partner’, to be precise. You simply assumed, and I didn’t bother correcting you. If I were to correct every wrong supposition you’ve had since we’ve met... Well, I have better things to do with my time.” Alhaitham declared, his arm around Y/N’s waist, pulling her subtly to lean on his side, planting a kiss on her temple, purposely annoying his friend. “S-So... You mean... She -- And the Fairy -- And Tighnari’s friend -- And your Thesis partner -- They’re all the same person?!” the crestfallen expression on his face only made the beautiful lady hum in amusement. “Yes, I suppose that is me - I should thank you for the nickname - I think being called a Flower Fairy is highly flattering. Here is my gratitude.” with a graceful swish of her hand, Y/N created a flower crown on the architect’s hair. “...You may be lovely, but I swear, you almost have the same kind of mocking cruelty as he does, hidden behind a pretty smile.” Kaveh groaned, getting up and stumbling towards the other chamber, where his bedroom was. “HEY, HOLD UP! IF YOU’VE BEEN TOGETHER FOR SO MANY YEARS, WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN YOU OVER?!” “No thirds wheels allowed on our dates.” seeing that annoyingly taunting smirk, and the implication behind those words, Kaveh let out another frustrated groan and shot into his room, not wanting to see either of the two anymore. “Perfect timing as always.” Alhaitham praised, pulling Y/N onto his lap. “Yes, well, I have to admit, I was getting cold out there, leaning on the door and waiting for you to finish that story already. Regardless... I think it’s adorable that Kaveh didn’t pick up that the reason you were so intrigued to continue speaking to me was because I fooled the Akademiya not to wear that Akasha device.” Y/N laughed lightly. “One of the many.” he said, bringing her flush against his chest. “Or perhaps, one might say, I was trapped under the charming spell of a certain flower fairy.”

see through you. — he knows. his mouth is locked shut with a key by his own accord. he awaits the day you dig your feelings from the soil and tell him directly; after all… he’s been waiting all this time, how long will you take?
pairing: alhaitham x gn!reader
warnings: reader has hair long enough to tie back, unedited

you were in dire need of a haircut. it annoyed you how, as you studied, your hair always managed to swing right back into your face, despite you tucking it behind your ear just seconds ago.
frowning, you set your pencil down just a tad bit more obnoxiously than usual, and move both your hands up to tuck the hair back behind your ears. huffing, you set both elbows on the table, ready to get back to work, when a gentle touch tingles against your wrist.
alhaitham…
his touch handled you like porcelain. he stretches the wristband on your wrist, pulling it up and off of your skin, transferring onto his wrist instead.
you peer at him curiously- did he do all of that just to steal a hair tie?
his warmth travels behind you, and he pulls back the strands you didn’t even notice fall back into you face, along with the rest of your hair and ties it gracefully.
as if it was the most normal action in the world, he simply sits down in his usual seat beside you, opening his book and scanning the texts unbothered.
“w-wh…” your hands subconsciously move to check his work on your hair. he does an intriguingly clean job at it- where your assumptions incorrect? did he really have experience with women?
you smile at the thought, turning towards him to jest, “did you learn how to do that from your books too?”
alhaitham looks up from his book with a neutral expression- despite that, you can sense his comfortability around you through his relaxed shoulders.
“no, just through observation.”
you furrow your brows curiously, a playful smile teasing your lips, “observation?”
you laugh as you confirm what he says, “what scholar do you watch all day to know how to tie someones hair back?”
alhaitham doesn’t seem to hesitate in his answer, “you.”
the teasing smile falls away from your lips and you’re left stunned- you almost scoffed after feeling the smugness in his attitude radiating onto you.
he knew what he just did.
he watches as you sit there at a loss for words, he’s so amused he almost lets a chuckle slip.
“come here”, the small smirk fights through his unbothered facade, his tone relaxed and smug.
you press your lips together stubbornly, and alhaitham raises a brow. he searches your eyes- when he finds what he’s looking for, he leans back.
that spark of interest- enough to light a fire, but you refused to let that much show. he found it, he knew you wanted to see what would to if you remained stubborn.
fine, he’ll give you what you want.
he hooks an ankle around a leg of your chair and pulls you closer to him, he feels his heart squirm at the sight of you peering at him in surprise.
he takes his pointer and thumb and tucks your chin delicately between them, as if you were a page of a book he thought precious to him.
he leans in- but just before your lips could even brush, he turns your head gently, inspecting your hair.
“i did an amazing job for my first time”, he muses, a knowing smirk curling a corner of his lip upwards.
you scoff in disbelief, turning your head back to only see his demeanour relaxed. despite your narrowed eyes at him, the distance remained the same as before- so, so close.
you seem to let your guard down when you find his tender gaze, “i like you, alhaitham.”
he leans back in his chair at your confession, as if a heavy weight had been taken off of his shoulders, “i know.”
“excuse me?” you’re bewildered once again- never had anyone gotten the last word with alhaitham.
“just wanted to hear the words come out of your mouth.”
you scowl (it’s out of love you swear- only alhaitham can make you feel annoyed lovingly).
”shut up and kiss me…” you mumble, trying to avoid further hurting your pride.
he obliges witthout protest, finally closing the distance between you two- just as he displays himself, it reflected in the way he locked lips with you. the passion, the smugness, and the arrogance- though you wouldn’t exactly call it arrogance if he claimed himself good and is good, damn good.
you pull away in a giggle, a joke overtaking your mind, “don’t tell me you learned to kiss that well from a book…”
alhaitham only smirks before shaking his head, “no… from my dreams of you.”
no one has ever gotten the last word on alhaitham- not even you, whom he cherishes the most.

𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐍 ☆。*。☆ [ALHAITHAM X FEM! READER]
Tumblr media
Warning(s): suggestive content at the end (no smut, though).
Genre: romance, modern! au, university! au.
Word count: 5,5k.
Blurb:
It's not a secret that Alhaitham is the most competitive and has great pride. But, what happens when you start 'stealing' his precious first rank from him? Alhaitham comes up with a plan; he will approach you, make you helplessly in love with him, distract you and steal his first place. Who would have imagined, though, that it would backfire on him?
Inspired by this post.
Tumblr media
The clear sky stretches over the campus buildings. Birds were singing in appreciation of the cloudless and perfect weather. On the green grass of the park, college students chat while carrying the drinks they bought at a nearby kiosk. Everything about today said it was going to be a good day.
But not for Alhaitham.
The man was infamous for never smiling (though he believed they were all exaggerating since he had smiled once—when Kaveh slipped and fell into a pool of rainwater). His eyes always convey the impression that he is better to everyone, as evidenced by him usually occupying the top positions on every weekend exam. Usually.
No one would have believed that those eyes could be sharper than before while his lips were in deep gloom staring at the board where the ranking results were presented.
(Y/N) (L/N)
Alhaitham
His tongue clicked in annoyance. He has long known you’re a threat, proven when his professor also mentioned your name and the title of your research as 'good and well organized work’ in front of the class. However, Alhaitham didn't think you would actually succeed. Maybe he's been underestimating you all along.
A voice that sounded like a crowd of people talking and approaching made Alhaitham step aside, guessing whoever those people were going to look at the wall board. At first, he was going to keep standing there—with all his annoyance while staring at his name next to number two—but, one of them said something and made him freeze before turning his head.
“Hey, (Y/N)! You’re in first place!”
Pretty good way to sprinkle salt on the wound.
“Really?”
Enthusiasm is lacking in your voice, as if you had expected this—as if you had expected that Alhaitham would be number two, right below you. He stares at you reading the ranking results, then you turn to look at him, not intimidated.
The wind blows, your hair dances in the breeze, and Alhaitham is preoccupied figuring out what the smile on your lips means. While his rational mind says you're just trying to be friendly, his petty mind believes you're making fun of him. Alhaitham wasn’t going to believe the latter until you opened your mouth to say,
"Well, so we're now rivals?"
Rivals. Ha.
A scoff left his lips. “Funny." he started. "The last time I checked, for two people to be rivals, they have to be on the same level."
Instead of irritating you, his remarks widen your smile. "You're right." You glance at the board, your name is still emblazoned at the top. "Obviously we're not like that."
It was obvious you were mocking him, and plus, did you just boomerang his own words? Alhaitham inhaled through his nostrils. If it weren't for your friends waiting for you two to finish exchanging 'conversations', he would have continued this until you gave up having the last say.
“Enjoy it while it lasts.” Alhaitham said.
"Totally. We're going to a sushi restaurant after this. Wanna join?” The smirk on your face widens, or is it just him?
“You’re shameless.”
"And you’re still second."
Alhaitham refrained from continuing. "Have the day you deserve, (L/N)." He said, then turned to leave. If you're thinking about giving him another 'smart' comment, he sincerely hopes that you'll literally bite your tongue.
“I’ll be having a good one then, thanks!”
It takes all the patience inside of him not to turn back and get back at you. Alhaitham clenched his fists. Next week will be different, this must all just be down to your luck or he didn't take yesterday's test seriously. Alhaitham vowed not to let that happen again and was confident he would regain first place.
Next week was much the same.
The first thing Alhaitham did when he arrived on campus was walk quickly to the information board, where last week's exam rankings were displayed with a group of students reading them. He made his way through them to get a better look. There it is, first place with your damn name on it. He's still second. He is. Still. Second.
Something is definitely wrong. A small difference in score separates your rankings which frustrates him even more. He has been in first place for two years, and he doesn't need anyone to break that.
"Two weeks in a row, (Y/N)." Someone behind him commented.
Someone—you, he guessed—chuckled. “That study group really paid off.” You said.
Study group? He thought. Alhaitham was about to make his way out of the scene quietly to avoid you but, when a gasp escaped you, he knew you had found him.
“Alhaitham, hi!”
That's the most sickening hello. Alhaitham turned his head to look at you, who were beaming at him. It must be satisfying for you, watching him stand here in the same glum after reading the ranking results. He is still second and you know it too.
You looked back at your friends. “We’re going for fast food this time. Wanna join?” Alhaitham did nothing but glare at you. ".. Or do you want to join next week?"
You're pretty confident to say you'll still be first. This luck lasts only two weeks, and if it turns out to be more than that, Alhaitham will find a way to ruin it—just like you did to his first ranking streak. He really likes challenges, loves competition. But, it was now at a point where it was an embarrassment.
He chose to turn around instead of responding to you. He'll reclaim his first rank.
Next week has come with everything that makes his patience dripping off.
When Alhaitham opened his messaging app and downloaded the PDF a classmate had sent him, his stomach churned in uneasiness. He watched the loading circle complete then pressed it quickly with his thumb. Turquoise eyes swept across the title—something he had never done before but now he did to buy time before lowering his gaze on number one and—
“Damn it!”
The entire bus turned their heads to the grey-haired. They looked at him with judgmental eyes, some thinking he had lost his mind (like most college students do because of their endless assigments). Alhaitham paid no attention to any of that. He was too busy swearing mentally while rereading your full name.
What the hell is going on?
Alhaitham is desperate. He was desperate for an explanation as to why the first place had slipped out of his hands. These two years, everything was fine; then what made him 'fail' like this? He closed his group chat and turned off his cell phone while preparing to get off at his stop. However, the question kept repeating itself in the back of his mind.
At lunch time, he walked into the architecture department cafeteria—four buildings away from Alhaitham's. He wouldn't have bothered to approach Kaveh—who was sitting at one of the cafeteria tables with the cheapest meal he was about to eat—if he hadn't needed a second opinion. The second those red eyes landed on him, Alhaitham watched his face change as if.. he had lost his appetite?
Regardless, Alhaitham kept walking and sat in the chair across from him. The crease between Kaveh's brows deepened.
"What do you want?" Kaveh asked, grumpily.
"I need your opinion."
The blonde crossed his arms across his chest and leaned back in his chair. "What?" He gave Alhaitham a quick once-over before smirking. “Wow, never expected the day you would beg for my help."
“Opinion, not help. I'll decide if it's helpful or not later.”
Kaveh—not feeling like arguing today—still made sure to exhale loudly enough for him to hear. “Whatever that keeps you out of my face." He stuck his fork deep into his food hoping it was Alhaitham instead.
Alhaitham fell silent in his thoughts. He was stroking his imaginary beard while thinking of ways to say it without telling him straight that he was in despair. If Kaveh knew someone beat him in the rankings, he would make fun of this. He didn't need that added to his plate.
"Something was stolen from me." He said carefully.
Kaveh raised one eyebrow before digging back into his food. "That's your problem?" He watched Alhaitham nod. "Buy it again. Problem solved. Now get off my table.”
"This isn’t something that can be bought."
Kaveh rolled his eyes. “Aren't you supposed to be the smartest? You ruined my precious lunch time.” He held his tray before standing up, about to switch tables. “Just steal it back. Done! You're done, right? Don't bother me. I've a little time before dealing with that lovesick guy Childe."
Steal it back. Lovesick.
Alhaitham had heard how complicated love was—a blessing and a curse, say those who had. He doesn't really care about people, but he does meet a bunch of friends who don't show up for meetings because they're busy dating (he ends up crossing their names off assignments, don't worry).
Steal it back. Lovesick.. Something clicked in his brain. That's it!
A new determination ignited and burned. He stood up from the cafeteria table with a smile, a sharp contrast to the state he was in when he entered it. The birds were fluttering their wings under a clear sky. This time he would take that as a good sign.
Today will be the start of his grand plan to approach you, date you, and infatuate you to the point where you’re so distracted with him that you once again come in second, as it should be.
It started after the last class of the day.
Seconds after the professor picked up his laptop and documents stating that class was over, Alhaitham immediately moved to approach you (who luckily sat alone in the absence of your usual friends). He watched you tidy up your books, your notes and all the colorful highlighters. One rolls over to the edge of the table and he catches not only that but your attention.
“..Hey.” You say hello, giving him a skeptical look before looking back perhaps he's here for someone else. After confirming that it was just you, you proceeded to ask: "Can I help you?"
Right. You two aren't exactly on good terms, so his sudden approach will no doubt make you feel uneasy. Alhaitham took a silent breath, feeling the air fill his lungs before he opened his mouth to say, "We need to talk.”
What a wonderful choice of words. Your lips curved into a faint smile as you stuffed your books and notes into your bag.
“So demanding.” you comment. "Are you always like this?"
Alhaitham has always lived with the rational side of his brain, so it's not a problem for him to control his emotions even though he has many words to reply to your clever comments. He stares at you, having the chance to notice the color of the irises under those curled eyelashes this time; he probably would have liked the color if not for the rivalry between you two.
"The other day, I was rude to you." He started, his own words piercing his pride. "I'm here to apologize to you."
You hummed in response, "Hmm, then let me hear it.”
Alhaitham fumbled around in his pocket. You see him set a bar of chocolate down on the table. A wrinkle forms in the middle of your furrowed brow. Your eyes return to his turquoise one, it reminds you of the gemstone described in the textbook you read last night.
Even though it felt better to bite his lip than to say it, Alhaitham really had no choice but to speak it this time.
“I’m sorry.”
"What are you sorry for?"
Something flashed in his eyes before it disappeared. Alhaitham was making a best efforts to keep a straight face, but as soon as he noticed how your smile became wider, he realized you were using this as an opportunity to play him.
"For being rude."
You nodded, still looking dissatisfied. "And why were you being rude?" The laughter at the corner of your throat was harder to contain when you saw his lips starting to form a glum shape.
“Do you really need to ask that?” Alhaitham protested.
"I need to make sure you're sincere."
A sigh escaped his lips. "Haah.. fine," He then continued, "Perhaps I was irritated because I was one rank below you." His badly damaged dignity would require a lot of time to mend.
Luckily it’s enough for you. "So, is the chocolate for me?" You glanced at the table where the chocolate bar was still sitting. It's from a brand you love but, never had the chance to buy again because it's quite expensive. Either this is just a coincidence, or Alhaitham also likes it or he has done a background check on you.
“I'm just going to put it there. It's none of my business if you eat it or not." He said.
Alhaitham could have worded it more politely—more kindly. He regretted saying it in his way, thinking you would react negatively to that. However, when his ears catch the sound of someone's laughter—yours—his eyes widen as he stares at you taking the chocolate from the table.
"Has someone ever said you have a weird way of talking?"
Someone has. Kaveh.
You waved the chocolate bar in your hand. "Apology accepted, as well as the chocolate." When you smiled at him, he wasn't irritated by it this time.
"I'll see you around." You’re about to walk away.
“Wait.”
You stop walking. Turning to the gray-haired, you looked at him with curiosity. Alhaitham moved his gaze to you. From this angle, you can see why he's secretly loved by many. With sharp eyes, lips that never smile, and a defined jaw; you wonder why he never thought of becoming a model instead of coping with college life. Probably the same reason as you.
Alhaitham turned his back on you completely. "You haven't found a partner for Professor Aabid's observation assignment yet, have you?" he inquired.
You unconsciously nodded, "That's right." you said before reflecting about his question. “Why do you—“
"Be my partner."
“.. What?”
Alhaitham crossed his arms over his chest. "Is there a reason for you to refuse?" he asked.
"No, but why me?" You shake your head.
"Because I don't have one either." He answered casually before smiling faintly. "Besides, I think we'd be perfect pair, don't you think so?"
Perfect? You think 'hellish' is more appropriate. A few days ago, you two were at each other's throats fighting for the first place, and now what? You really can't believe Alhaitham labeled you both as ‘perfect’ partners. He's working on something under his sleeve you know.
Alhaitham saw your doubt. "Shouldn't that convince you?" He glanced at the chocolate bar.
You followed his gaze and chuckled. “So it turns out this is a bribe."
"It could be."
"Ha! You're up to something, I can feel it." For a second, you swear you saw his eyes widen and he turned pale, but it could have just been your imagination. "But whatever, I'm game."
Alhaitham had an arrogant grin on his face. “See you at Monday then.” He didn't even deny it, only then turned his shoes on walking towards the exit.
You didn't miss a single detail when you told this to your friends. See? It's not just you who feels weird about his sudden change in attitude. Your girls warned you to be careful with him, some told you to change partners—speculating that he might be trying to abduct or kill you, adding your tragedy to the long list of criminal cases that are made into documentaries on Netflix. You doubt it though.
Monday came like in the blink of an eye. Or maybe your weekend was so much fun that you forgot you partnered with Alhaitham.
The second he landed his eyes on you entering the room, Alhaitham cleared his throat. He had spent the weekend finishing ten romance books to find out what makes someone fall in love fast. Today was the day he put it all into practice. He will claim his first position soon.
Maintaining eye contact.
"Hey." You greet him, take a seat next to him, and place your bag at your feet. "How was your weekend?"
"It was fine." Alhaitham replied.
You give a brief nod. He's still looking at you, giving you a chance to take in more detail of his eyes. It not only had a turquoise color, an amber hue surrounded its pupils. College life has not left any traces on his flawless skin. You won't deny that he was given a gift in the form of handsome face.
Alhaitham was still staring at you, as if you were an alien. Feeling uncomfortable, you look straight ahead hoping he will do the same.
Fourteenth second and he's still at it, you're starting to think you have something in your face. You take out your phone, open the camera app and find nothing. Maybe he wanted to ask something? You return to Alhaitham to confirm.
"Do you have anything to say?" you ask.
Alhaitham blinked then replied, “Sure.”
Sure? You don't know how to respond to that. "What do you want to say?" You rest your cheek on your palm.
"Just.." Alhaitham tried to remember the next step.
2. Touch them more often.
Alhaitham stretched out his hand quickly. A second later you feel warmth slightly touching the skin of your ear. He just tucked a strand of your hair away from your face. Alhaitham just tucked a strand of your hair away from your face. Maybe he's a perfectionist, disliking messy things like your hair that you rush into ponytail for fear of missing the bus. But, you really didn't expect this at all.
"Uhh.. thanks." You force a smile, shifting slightly away from him.
Maybe it's true what your friends say about him planning to kidnap you.
Meanwhile in his mind, Alhaitham mistook your wary demeanor as shyness. He suppressed a smile. He had doubts about the usefulness of the romance books, yet they paid off. It won't take you long to slip into his trap.
Professor Aabid's classwork is more difficult than one might imagine. Fortunately, two weeks were given to complete it. You and Alhaitham often meet to discuss paper material, which later leads to visiting your house as a comfortable place to work on it. Weekends with your friends are replaced by being with him. Books and laptops are now preferred over late-night karaoke.
A pen was placed on the carpet. You take a deep breath before stretching, feeling relieved after relaxing the tense muscles caused by your sitting posture. Alhaitham approached the table and set two mugs on the floor table.
You smell the sweet scent. "What's this?" You take one.
"Hot chocolate." He replied, drinking his own.
One of your eyebrows is raised. "Not coffee? Are you sure this won't make us sleepier?” you ask.
Alhaitham put down his glass which is now half down. "The only way to get rid of exhaustion is to sleep. Just go to sleep if you're tired; I'll continue the next page.” He pulled the laptop closer to him.
“Really? Are you saying that to sound nice or do you really mean it?”
"Stop asking stupid questions." He fixed his eyes on the laptop screen.
You straighten your sitting posture. “Oh, come on. Can't you just smile or laugh once?” you protest.
Alhaitham's fingers stopped typing. A line he remembered from one of those romance books flashed in his mind. The third step to make someone fall in love: smile more often.
You see him turn to you, lips curling into a smile. It complimented him well, really well. His hand stretched out. But this time he wasn't aiming for your strands or your ears. He placed his palm on the top of your head and ruffled it gently.
"Go to sleep. I’ll wake you up later.”
Yes, Alhaitham thought. This should be enough for her to fall—
His train of thought was interrupted when you took his hand and cupped it in front of your face. Thumb moved in a circular manner across his calloused fingertips. Compared to his, your skin is incredibly warm. Are you flirting with him? Before Alhaitham could have his answer, he watched as your lips curved into a smile wide enough to lift your cheeks.
"Okay." you answer. "Would you be fine alone?”
Alhaitham quickly and abruptly pulled his hand away. He immediately pretended to be focused on the laptop, his one free hand hiding his lips behind it and muttering: "I told you to stop asking stupid questions."
Another laugh from you and he doesn't like how his heart reacts to that. It was beating too fast, too different from normal. He knew he had no history of any illness, so why did his chest feel warm? He compared its warmth to your hands just now, and now he ends up thinking all about you.
You slept on the couch behind him. Alhaitham remained with his laptop and open book. Between you two is silence and a troubled heart.
The day before the deadline for submitting Professor Aabid's class assignments, the drizzling rain turned heavy. The usual clear sky was replaced with dark clouds that came in to block up the afternoon sun. Some students voiced their complaints, and others opened their umbrellas to flee. They concluded today would be a bad day.
Two people ran in an uneven pace beneath the man's black jacket. In the midst of the puddles that spread across the campus grounds, they no longer care if their shoes end up dirty later. You closely hold onto your freshly printed papers for fear that the rain will hit it and cause the ink to smear. Meanwhile, Alhaitham puts a hand on your shoulder guiding you to take shelter under the roof of one of the biology department buildings.
“Phew!” You let out a sigh of relief after checking your documents were safe.
Alhaitham glanced at you. "Are you alright?" He asked, worry was in his voice, but you failed to notice.
“Yeah,” You held up the brown envelope high. “the envelope got wet but, the rest was fine.”
"I asked about you, not the documents."
"Oh." After saying that, you let out a laugh—one that made Alhaitham hold his breath hoping it would stop the warmth that was seeping into his cheeks and chest. “It's just rain. The worst-case scenario is when I wash my shoes later."
Now that you mention it, those turquoise eyes can't help but steal a quick peek at your dirt-stained white shoes. He checked his and realized that it wasn't as awful as yours—possibly because the materials you two had were different. Not only that, he also realizes the size differences between your feet and his.
"We can always go to the shoe wash." Alhaitham suggested.
You seem interested in the idea. "And go for ice cream after?"
A smile automatically crawled onto his face after hearing that. He's been smiling a lot lately. "Sure." He replied, watching you squeal with joy.
The heavy raindrops were still falling onto the ground. Although the wind wasn't very strong, it was enough to cause shivers in people who had previously been drenched. Alhaitham noticed it in you. He swiftly wrung his black jacket and draped it over your shoulders.
"What about you?" you ask.
Alhaitham shook his head. "I can manage." The lie came out smooth. In reality, you catch him repeatedly rubbing his hands trying to keep himself warm.
So you took his hand, too suddenly and unexpectedly. He watched you bring it to your lips, felt the touch of your warm breath on his skin. His heart missed a beat. Something stirred in his stomach and Alhaitham didn't like one bit of it. He picks up a lot of details about you—from how your lips curl while you blow another warm air on his fingers to the strands of your wet hair tickling your cheeks.
The first step to make someone fall in love: maintain eye contact.
For some reason, he had a hard time doing it now. Every time he made an effort, his heart would continue to race and his hands would feel the need to have you beneath his touch—in his arms. His eyes will first go down your cheek, nose, and cupid's bow before settling on your lips. Shimmering lipgloss around your lips. Maybe one day he'll be able to taste it?
Alhaitham's thoughts stopped. What kind of desire just grew in his chest?
The smile that you’re now carving doesn't help the situation either. It came like a sea of roses, and Alhaitham didn't even like roses. But, if it looks like you—smells like you; then the thing he wanted to do was dive into it and never surface again.
Oh, now he understands.
Whole lines from the romance books he had read for his grand plan came back like boomerangs. Instead of making you fall in love, he fell in love. Instead of stealing back his ranking, he ended up being the one who got stolen.
This kind of feeling... he didn't know what to do with it.
Before Alhaitham could find the answer, the rain had died down. You turned around with a happy face, releasing his hand slowly (he wished he could still feel your skin on his). Your voice says about turning in assignments early, perhaps Professor Aabid will be kind enough to give you some extra credit. However, what Alhaitham can focus on is your figure stepping under the rays of the sun slowly coming out of the clouds that has finished its misery.
Alhaitham is conflicted about today. His feelings was left unspoken.
You did not show up to campus the next day. Alhaitham was at the front of the class when he received your message saying that you were sick and unable to attend class.
The old Alhaitham will take this opportunity to return to being the best in class and not give you any notes from the lecturer's explanation. The new Alhaitham has already started turning his shoes and sprinting towards the exit while he's fiddling with his cell phone sending you a message that he'll be here soon.
When he arrives at your apartment door, his index finger presses the bell button in agitation. Did you get sick from the rain?
When the door swings open, Alhaitham immediately scans you. Slightly messy hair, flushed face, hoarse voice as you call his name and ask why he’s here. It seems you were sleeping, so you didn't read his message. Regardless, Alhaitham made his way inside after closing the door.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Shouldn't you be in class?"
"I left."
Your ears are deceiving you, right? If not, then what is the reason that made you hear Alhaitham say that he left the class? You glance at the digital clock not far from the kitchen and find it's too early for class to end.
"Wait.. did you just skip class?"
Alhaitham stopped fiddling with the medicines he bought after hearing your question. Silence fell between you. You think he'll never answer until he opens his mouth to say, "Maybe."
You sneeze before asking, "Are you serious?"
"I heard you got sick. So here I am."
Alhaitham answered too briefly for you to think he did this for no reason. After placing the meds on the counter, he rushes into your kitchen (as if he owns it). You were still standing there in silence—still unable to believe what was happening. He comes up to you with a glass of water.
"I bought you soup, in case you haven't eaten."
"So you're saying that you ditched class just to come here?" you ask.
A sigh escaped his lips as he turned around like he was avoiding something. "Still talking about that? Isn't my answer enough?" He replies too softly requiring you to concentrate a little more to hear him; your plugged ear doesn't help either.
"Yeah, I'm bringing that up because the Alhaitham I know will take this opportunity to beat me." You walk quickly towards him. "And you're acting weird right now, you know."
Alhaitham turned to you, and you swear your heart skipped a beat when you found something different in those turquoise eyes of his. You're not really sure what, though. The height difference makes you slightly look up to stare at him back. You don't know since when you took every detail of him, but you can't miss how his Adam's apple bobs when he swallows out of... nervousness?
Alhaitham? Nervous?
Whatever it is, it's starting to affect you as well.
Alhaitham stares at you, pausing at your lips before returning to your eyes. “Are you going to make me say it?” His voice was soft, as if he was reading a secret love letter.
Now it's your turn to swallow. “.. Say what?”
"That I like you."
In that second, your breath caught. Your eyes burn from not blinking, but you're too frozen in place to do that. Your jaw is slack. His words have a way of warming your heart, or is it the gaze he still gives you? Beautiful turquoise color.. which is now only focused on you as if you were the only thing ever made in the universe.
“.. What?”
“I like you.” He repeated without complaining.
Now that he has said it more clearly, you can't help but stare at his flushed cheeks. You know exactly yours aren’t much different from his. Did Alhaitham really just make a love confession? To you, out of all the people? Confusion has taken over your mind. You blink a few times to make sure you really aren't dreaming. Alhaitham just made a love confession. To you, out of all the people.
In contrast to the flushed cheeks and the awkward silence he maintained, Alhaitham stood with his usual stoic face. Your lips opened without a word coming out.
Alhaitham took a breath. "It wasn't planned." He took the opportunity to add. "I.. didn't expect it either."
So what he's trying to tell you is that falling in love with you wasn't part of his plan? You swallowed again, your throat quickly drying. It's as if he's saying that whatever it was you did to make him fall in love, it was enough for him to become lost in his own ambitions. Your chest is warm—ten times warmer than when the warm chocolate he made flows sweetly.
"Maybe I should give you an explanation. I don't want to cause any misunderstanding—no, I don't want you to misunderstand me.” Alhaitham sighed before continuing, “You must have realized from the beginning that I didn't approach you by chance or simply to apologize. Now that I've said it, you should be able to figure out what my failed plan was."
You smiled awkwardly, “.. My guess is you plan to make me fall in love with you and distract me for first place, but maybe it's just me too—”
"That's right. How did you know?"
His turquoise eyes were even more beautiful when they enlarged, as he was doing right now. Your laugh caused his cheeks to turn redder. “Well, those sweet gestures doesn't exactly fit your personality. And I swear I heard a few lines  similar to those in this one romance book I read."
Alhaitham smiled faintly. "Guess I shouldn't waste my time on all of that, huh?"
Another laugh escaped your lips. "Do you regret it now?" you ask.
"Regret what?"
“Do you regret falling in love with me?”
Alhaitham blinks, two seconds later gives you a shake of the head. "Oddly enough, no, I don't regret it." He shook his head again. "I don't regret it at all."
You take two steps forward. “Good,” you said, tiptoeing up to his face. From this distance, those turquoise eyes looked more beautiful. "Because I wouldn't be helping you with your pick-up lines if it weren't for me."
One push and your lips were on his. He kisses back, placing his big hand behind your head to deepen the kiss. Your fingers find a way to crawl on his broad chest covered in his tight shirt. Without breaking the kiss, he moved closer to press you against the kitchen counter.
You're the first to let go for a breath and say, “W-wait, I have a cold. What if you—"
A quick kiss to silence you. "Don't worry, I bought us a lot of medicine." He said, voice deep and husky.
Alhaitham took off his denim jacket, threw it carelessly and kissed you again—this time more passionately. He directed his lips to the crook of your neck. Your legs hooked around his waist as you feel his breath on your skin.
He plans to steal, but instead ends up getting stolen. But, that's fine. He will gladly let you steal whatever from him, so go ahead and do it.

Tuesday, 3.46pm
There was this old bookstore on the corner of a quiet street in town. You remember going there often, until it suddenly closed down many years ago. No one knew the reason why. You simply assumed that it went bankrupt, or maybe something had happened to the owner.
Whatever it was, it had been closed for years now, and most people had long forgotten about its existence. But not you, who had such fond memories of the little bookstore. You walked past it every day on your way home, always feeling a sense of longing when your gaze pulled towards the storefront.
Until that day where you saw lights behind the dusty windows.
Your curiosity was sparked, and you inched closer to the store. For all you knew, it had been abandoned for years. No one bothered to look after it once it closed its doors, and now there suddenly were signs of life?
With wide eyes, you looked at the little sign on the door that read open, and you started to wonder; were you dreaming? It had to be. You had given up all hope that your favorite bookstore would ever open again, so this had to be too good to be true, right?
Well, there was one way to find out.
Your hand found the doorknob and you pushed open the wooden door with the old little curtain that obscured the window.
The tiny bell above the doorbell chimed softly, informing whoever was present in the store of your arrival. You waited a moment, but you saw no one. Hesitantly, you closed the door behind you and stepped further inside.
It was an absolute mess inside the store. Nothing like you remembered it. The wooden shelves stood tall and empty, and all the books rested on the floor, either in huge piles or they lay scattered in messy heaps. There were stacks of papers and little trinkets that you supposed were for decoration. It was dusty, and you saw tiny particles flying around in the light that filtered through the dirty windows. Honestly, it looked like a very local hurricane passed through the store.
"Excuse me?" you called out, since no one seemed to respond to the little chime of the bell above the door.
You heard some rustling from the back of the store, and a moment later a tall young man stepped from behind one of the shelves. It was fair to say that you needed a moment to take in his appearance, for he really stood out with his handsome face, silver hair with some streaks of pale teal, and clear turquoise eyes that held a hint of surprise upon seeing you.
"We aren't open yet," the male told you.
"The sign on the door said you were," you reasoned, feeling a little ashamed under the guy's stoic expression.
"That's an error on my behalf, then. My bad."
You nodded, unsure of what to do next. Just walk away and leave the store? That would leave you dissatisfied, with a lot of questions on your mind.
"When are you opening officially?" you asked.
"In a week," the man replied. "But I have yet to clean up everything and I'm on my own."
"Do you need help?" you impulsively asked. A split second later, you felt like planting the palm of your hand against your embarrassed face. Why did you even suggest that?
The silver-haired male quirked a brow and you felt your cheeks flush red under his gaze.
"I mean, this used to be my favorite store and if I can do anything to help it open on time, I would love to," you quickly explained.
He seemed to think for a moment, and you swear it felt like his turquoise eyes could see straight into your soul. It made you a little awkward but you tried to keep your composure.
"I assume that means you know what this store used to look like in its glory days?" he asked after a short silence.
You nodded. "Pretty much."
"Fine," he briskly agreed. "I think I can use a hand. Just don't be a nuisance and don't get in the way."
A little offended, you folded your arms. Who did he think you were? Some kid who only stuck around to make a mess of things? He was lucky that he was so handsome.
The deal was sealed, and you got to work. It mostly consisted of sweeping the dust off of the books, stacking them neatly into the shelves sorted by genre and author. A lot of interesting books passed through your hands and you avidly made mental notes on which ones you were going to buy as soon as the store would officially open.
Occasionally, other customers would come in, until the silver-haired man finally had enough and changed the sign from open to closed. After that, it was just you and him and a shitton of books that had to be sorted.
For what feels like long hours, you tried your best to help organize the little corner shop. But it was just so much work that you could hardly see any progress, much to your dismay. The only proof of your labor were the shelves that were now stacked with books – though it was nothing compared to the number of shelves you had yet to fill. Yep, it was quite a tedious task but you carried on.
You barely spoke a word to the handsome man, who was working through a stack of papers on the other side of the store.
The atmosphere was a little weird, you couldn't quite put your finger on it. One of its components was a fair share of awkwardness from your side, that's for sure.
"I think we're done for the day," his deep voice concluded after a while, and you felt kinda grateful as you put down the books you held in your hands. As much as you loved books, having to deal with hundreds of them over the span of a few hours was a bit much and you were feeling tired.
"We did quite some work, huh?" you stated proudly, stepping back to admire the vast line-up of books you had put into place.
"We did," he agreed. "Thanks for your help…"
"Y/N," you told him with a smile. "I'm Y/N."
You bid him goodbye after that, but not without casually offering to help him out tomorrow as well. He wore that questioning look again as he accepted your offer, but you realized that it may be a little weird for a total stranger to help out so eagerly.
You were just a massive book enthusiast. And let's be fair, that guy was insanely handsome. But you'd go for the books, you told yourself.
As you walked home, you suddenly realized a small error you had made today. It wasn't that big of a deal, but you still felt a little sour.
You didn't get his name.
Wednesday, 4.07pm
You felt hesitant as you stood in front of the door to the bookstore the day after. Yesterday you acted in a burst of spontaneity – or impulsivity – but today you came prepared, which made you a little nervous.
This time you knew who and what you would find behind that door; the handsome guy whose face you couldn't read and some huge piles of books. Somehow, it was easier when you could still pretend that it was an opened bookstore, like you could yesterday.
And the sign on the door read closed, which wasn't exactly inviting. You knew it was only to keep out other customers, but it had you seriously questioning whether or not to push down that door handle and step inside.
But come on, yesterday you had basically invited yourself over for today and the male with silver hair seemed to accept the offer. You were fine, there was no reason to feel so aversive towards entering.
You made up your mind and stepped inside, the little bell above the door ringing excitedly.
This time you found the handsome man in the front of the store, unloading several more books from cardboard boxes that stood here and there on the floor. God, there were so many books. You wondered if it was even doable to successfully clear the deadline of a week. Tidying the entire store in the six days he had left? He was in for a monstrous task.
"Good afternoon, Y/N," he greeted you without so much as looking up. "I can't believe you're really that willing to help me out in this dusty bookstore."
In other words, he was a tiny bit surprised that you showed up again, and you silently tsk-ed. He obviously didn't know you at all, you weren't just going to bail on him after promising your aid.
Honestly, you were still trying to figure out yourself why you were helping out a complete stranger setting up a bookstore. You weren't ready to admit that part of the reason was the guy being absurdly handsome – and come on, who wouldn't be lowkey enchanted by the mysterious aura he had?
Okay, it was only because you wanted your favorite bookstore to reopen asap!! That made perfect sense right? Of course you'd want that.
"You better give me a discount when I come to buy books," you joked to get your mind off the endless discussion about your reasons for helping out here.
But the guy replied with an "of course, that's only fitting," which took you by surprise. He was pretty considerate as well, huh?
You got to work, starting where you left off yesterday. There were still tons of books on the floor, and they weren't going to put themselves into place. Many books passed through your hand, and sometimes you took little breaks to read the summaries on the back of the books. You occasionally caught the silver-haired male looking at you, and you would as if you weren't just checking out the books. But he didn't comment on it, until he did.
"Do you like reading?" he asked, suddenly behind you. "You seem interested in those books."
"Why would I help out in a bookstore if I didn't care about books?" you reasoned. It came out a little defensive, and you uttered out a quick apology.
"I see," came the reply. "I was just wondering…" but you never found out what he was wondering about, for he trailed off and shrugged curtly. You flashed him a questioning look, but he didn't start talking again. What on Earth was he wondering?
The subject wasn't brought up again, and you were left with an unsatiated curiosity.
You were dying to ask him but you bite your tongue. He seemed the type who strongly disliked people that kept prying.
Instead you worked silently, stacking books on the shelves. Now it was you who regularly stole glances at the handsome male who worked on the other side of the store, where he was sorting through a pile of non-fiction books. Even with a concentrated frown on his features, he still looked insanely good and you struggled to focus on your task at hand.
But you managed, getting quite far until he called your name, telling you that it was enough for today. You got up, using the palm of your hands to dust off your knees.
You got ready to leave, but you had one more thing to do before you left the store.
"You never told me your name," you casually pointed out, taking a nonchalant stance – as if you weren't dying to find out the name that belonged to that handsome face.
"My name is Alhaitham," he said, and his turquoise rested on you. "Will you be here tomorrow?"
You nodded. "I will."
With that, you left the store behind you, and the soft chime of the bell gave you a ringing goodbye. You pondered quietly as you walked home.
Althaitham, huh?
Thursday, 3.34pm
You hadn't exactly told Alhaitham you were coming to the store again, but you figured he would be pretty much used to it by now. So you didn't hesitate all that much when you pushed open the door and stepped inside.
"Hi, Alhaitham," you greeted, glancing around the bookstore.
The two of you had made so much progress. There were only a few books left that lay strewn across the floor, and the number of cardboard boxes with more books had shrunk significantly. It was crazy how far you had come in two days.
Well, you had no idea at what time the guy started, and through the day he did quite some work by himself, but you also did your fair contribution.
"Hello, Y/N," his voice drifted from the back of the store. "Give me a minute, I'm almost finished putting these history books away."
You leaned against the messy counter casually as you waited for the male to emerge and give you instructions for today. You watched how the tiny dust particles dance in the room idly, caught by the light that filtered through the closed blinds.
Until you heard the dry thuds of objects falling followed by a low, whispered curse you only barely heard. That didn't sound good. You pushed yourself away from the counter and rounded the wall of bookshelves to check what happened – even though it wasn't a hard guess.
You found Alhaitham crouched between a messy heap of history books that lay scattered on the hardwood floor after plummeting down from what you assumed were his hands. The man had a frown on his face as he rubbed his left foot.
"Are you okay?" you asked, closing in on him.
"I'm fine," he assured you, readying himself to gather the books around him. The frown left his face, evening out into his usual stoic expression. But you had seen the pained frown, and guessed he dropped a few of the heavy history books on his foot. Ouch.
"Let me help," you offered, crouching down next to him as you also began to gather the fallen books.
It went smoothly, until you both had your mind set on the same book – one that told about ancient Egyptian history – and reached out at exactly the same moment. His hand came against yours as they collided firmly and a bolt of electricity shot through your arm, sending a shiver down your spine.
Ever so rapidly, you retraced your arm, but the damage was already done. A blush crept up your cheeks, and suddenly the books on the floor were very interesting – you refused to look at the male next to you, who still had his hand on the Egyptian history book.
You were panicking.
Why were you panicking?
"I'll start putting away the sci-fi books over there," you excused yourself, getting up and flashing the male a hasty smile. "Don't drop more books on yourself. Books are hard."
"I noticed," Alhaitham said flatly, confused at your turn of behavior. But hear me out, this man might be a smartass know-it-all who has his nose in a book more often than not, but he wasn't dense. He caught on quickly, but his face remained unreadable, a true actor as he pretended not to notice the flustered state you were in.
"The science fiction books are in a white box near the counter," he instructed you, and he was secretly amused by the blush you tried to hide from him.
"Alright, thanks," you breathed out, relieved when you could make your escape.
You got to work, and fortunately the shelf for sci-fi books was on the other side of the store, which gave you the opportunity to calm down quickly. It wasn't a big deal, you told yourself, and at some point you truly believed it wasn't.
Nearly all the books stood where they belonged now, and the store's interior was coming along nicely. It really started to look like an actual bookstore!
The thought also kinda saddened you, though. It meant that your time helping out here was almost over. You were just getting used to it, and especially after what happened today you had started to realize that you might have developed a tiny little crush on the handsome guy. How could you not?
Your afternoon consisted of books and many stolen glances at Alhaitham – and he would be totally aware of it but you had no idea.
"Y/N," he said after a while, approaching you with a paper bag in his hands. "Do you maybe feel like taking a break? I brought something that could suffice as a snack."
"What is it?" you asked curiously. You could use a little break, for you felt the strain of moving around books for three days straight on your muscles.
"Dried Zaytun peaches," Alhaitham replied. "Simple, efficient, and still quite tasteful."
Oh, that was nice. You munched away on those quite often when you were at home with nothing to do, so it was safe to say that you liked them.
The guy offered you the bag and you took a small handful before you sat down onto one of the few boxes that were left. Alhaitham sat down on a cardboard box opposite of you, and you sat in silence for a while as you ate your slices of dried Zaytun peach.
It wasn't necessarily awkward. The silence matched the serenity you expected to find in an old-style bookstore, and you found yourself enjoying the moment of leisure.
But after a while, small conversations would arise, and of course they all revolved around books and reading. You also found out that Alhaitham is the son of the store's initial owner, and that his father took the job of reviving the little shop again. Alhaitham was going to work part-time next to his study at the local academy.
He also asked you questions, which you were more than happy to answer. Turned out he was interested in you as a person, that much was obvious from the questions he asked.
In the end, he learned more about you than you did about him, but that was okay. After all, the air of mystery suited him very well.
Maybe you'd learn about him some day.
Your break took much longer than it was supposed to be, and by the time you realized it was already pretty late so you decided to wrap up for the day.
With a feeling of satisfaction, you headed home. It felt as if the two of you were opening up to each other. You couldn't wait until tomorrow.
Friday, 4.33pm
There was a skip in your step as you crossed the road, heading towards the bookstore that became your favorite all over again. How could it not?
You ran a little late due to circumstances, but they didn't diminish your enthusiasm to help out again. You had gotten so far already, and you were likely close to finishing. You couldn't wait to see the store when it was done!
As you venture inside, you find Alhaitham stacking the last books onto the shelves and you quickly hurry over to help him.
"You're later than usual," he commented.
"I got held up," you explained. Did he mind?
He nodded, as if that simple statement was enough of an explanation for him. You knew it wasn't like him to pry at all. Or maybe he simply didn't care, but that didn't sound quite right.
"Do you mind helping me put these last books away?" he asked, gesturing towards a few piles of books at his feet. "As soon as we finish, all the books will be into place."
What an accomplishment. After days of doing nothing but stacking books, it was refreshing to have the finish line in sight.
You worked quietly, only the sound of cars driving by outside and the soft continuous thud of books colliding with the wooden shelves resonated through the small store.
It was peaceful.
Peaceful, until you had to put the books on the highest shelf – which was just out of reach for you. With a book in hand, you struggled to put it on the top shelf, standing on your tippy toes but it wasn't quite enough for you to actually reach it. You cussed in mild frustration, but then you froze.
The book was taken from your hands as it was neatly placed onto the top shelf, but what had you petrified was the solid chest pressed flush against your back as Alhaitham stood behind you.
Your eyes flew wide and your breath halted, and you nearly squealed in panic when he moved to take another book.
"Here, allow me," he said calmly.
Had you been able to see his face at that very moment, you would've seen the amused glint in his turquoise eyes. This guy knew very well what he was doing, acting to see if he could fluster you again – it was adorable to him, though his stoic demeanor would never give away such thoughts.
You were having serious trouble breathing, and he stepped back to release you. You were quick to move away after being trapped between the bookshelves and his chest for what felt like a hot minute and you had to fight the urge to fan your flustered face with your hand. Instead you straightened your composure.
"T-Thanks, that was a little too high for me."
You had to struggle so much to formulate those words. Alhaitham wondered if he had to stop teasing you or do it more often. Your reactions were cute and you would never suspect him of teasing you on purpose. No one would ever suspect such a thing of him, for he was only seen as serious and emotionless, aloof even.
He'd think about it.
But he was leaning towards yes, mostly because he felt his own heart flutter while teasing you just as much.
Meanwhile, you were trying your best to calm your frantic heart, staring ahead of you idly because much like yesterday, you refused to look at the male who flustered the heck out of you. God, you only came there to help out in peace, this was not what you signed up for.
"At this rate, we might open the store sooner than we initially planned," Alhaitham stated, glancing around the store seemingly unfazed.
All there was left to do was some cleaning, and you gladly took the distraction. You avoided him for what felt like hours, meticulously dusting off all the surfaces you could find, vacuuming the hardwood floor (twice) and making sure all the books stood perfectly straight.
Well, all the books you could reach by yourself. You were definitely not trying to reach the top shelf again because you weren't ready for today's situation to repeat itself.
With your frantic cleaning, you earned quite a few amused glances from the handsome male with silver hair, but you were making quick wits of the dirt and dust that littered the store. In the meantime, Alhaitham did his own part as well, cleaning with you and using the trinkets he had unboxed to decorate the store to his liking.
Before you knew it, the shop was as good as done. You dropped the cloth into the bucket with water and wiped your forehead with the back of your hand. You had cooled down a lot, props to the intensity you had cleaned with. Not a speck of grime had escaped your eye, and in the meantime you were somewhat ready to face Alhaitham again.
"Whew, I think we're done," you mused.
"I think so, too," the male agreed. "Now all there's left is some administrational work, but my father will take care of that."
Then his turquoise eyes found you.
"Thank you for your help, though. I could not have done it so quickly without you. I was even worried about reaching our deadline but you made it much easier."
"I'm glad I could help," you smiled, growing a little shy under his gaze. "It was fun to set up my favorite bookstore again."
"Can I ask you a question?" Alhaitham asked.
"Of course," you tilted your head curiously.
"I came to notice that I like having you around," he admitted bluntly, honest and direct as always. "It would be a shame to see you go."
"Hm?" you brought out, cheeks tinting.
"I'd have to ask my father…" he finally seemed to hesitate, his eyes flickering away momentarily. "...but do you want to work here as a part-timer? You'd make a good colleague."
Your brain paused for a moment, were you hearing that correctly? Handsome guy was asking you to become his co-worker? It was as if you were dreaming. You fought the urge to pinch yourself – that would make you look silly in front of him – and pondered his offer for a second. There were many pros to this; an income, working in your favorite bookstore, employer discount on your fave books, and getting to work together with the mysterious guy you developed a crush on.
It was a big win-win situation.
"I would love to," you reacted.
"Alright," Alhaitham said, satisfied. "Give me your phone, I'll add my number so I can keep you updated."
You retrieved your phone from your pocket, handing it to the male in front of you. His fingers danced over the rectangular screen as he typed in the digits, before he gave it back to you.
Your eyes widened when you saw the name he gave his contact slot.
Your bookstore crush.
I told you, Alhaitham wasn't oblivious.
Though he felt a little nervous with this bold move, the way you looked at him told him that he didn't mess up.
Where your face was a blushing mess, his face remained aloof, unmoving as always. You had to get out of there. Oh God, how were you supposed to face your possible new co-worker the next time you saw him?
"I, uh, I'll text you soon so you have my number as well," you promised him, taking a few steps back to make your escape through the door. "B-Bye!"
And with that, you took your leave, leaving an amused Alhaitham behind. Your heart was doing somersaults in your chest.
Helping out in the forgotten bookstore really took an unexpected turn.

𝘈𝘭 𝘏𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘮 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘣 #1
My friend was feeling feral for Al Haitham so I wrote something for her. :)
Word Count: 1132
Warnings: sub character, dom reader, fem. bodied reader but no pronouns used, no descriptive characteristics (skin tone, hair type), power bottom?, slight breeding kink, praise (giving), maybe controled orgasm, exageration of sexual activity, Al Haitham begs, semi-edited, probably horrible writing, I don't write dom readers so this is probably really really bad but let me know. Minors please don't interact. brief handjob, Al Haitham says "no" once but everything is consensual. Let me know if I missed anything
Grand Sage, can you assist me with this?
Grand Sage I need you to get this done by tonight.
Al Haitham! Are you purposely ignoring my proposal? Hey! Stop walking away, I'm not done talking!
Every day it was the same: People would come into his office and give him loads of work he didn't want and he was forced to work ungodly hours. Not only that but he felt like he was neglecting you. Gods you. You were truly a blessing to him. Not once did you complain about his hectic adjusting to the new position. You yourself had a troublesome job with demanding hours so when all this came to be you simply smiled and gave him a kiss good luck.
But now finally, finally get had you.
He was desperate as he thrusted his aching cock into your warm walls.
"Fuck." He moaned into your neck as he stilled. He relished in the way your nails felt on his back as he pushed further in. He pushed until his balls were flushed against you. Al Haitham bit and sucked your skin and you laughed into a moan. Despite you being pinned against him, you were the one in control. The small praises that you whispered in his ear.
"That's my big boy."
"Come on deeper, I wanna feel you."
A particularly hard thrust caused you to gasp and breathe deeply, "Fuck Al Haitham just like that. Keep going!" You held him closer as he picked up the speed.
He growled into your ear. "That's it! Good boy keep going! Harder!"
You both were beginning to feel that familiar knots in your cores. That feeling of spiraling out of control, desperate for more pleasure.
"I missed you Gods I missed you. " He sucked your breast, licking your nipple before releasing with a pop. He felt your walls clamp down on his cock and it was almost too much for him. You came with a choked sob and harsh tug on his hair that made him choke on his own breath.
"Baby, please…inside. Let me come inside." You had a wicked smirk on your face as he begged.
"No pretty boy, not yet. Keep going. Make me come again." He could almost sob at your request but he listened. He continued to pound your pussy. He could feel his balls slap against the curve of your ass with each pump of his cock. They were practically swollen as he held back the need to come.
Your walls clamped down on him again but he didn't hear that satisfaction of you coming. Which means that you were holding off for him. Prolonging your own climax to halt his.
He bottomed out and held it there nearly wanting to cry at how sensitive his dick had become. He buried his face in your chest and breathed deeply. You could feel his dick pulse inside you begging for release, so it gave you an idea.
You lifted his head with one hand and held his cheek. He leaned into your touch as you made him look you in the eyes.
"Beg."
It was a command not a suggestion.
"Please," He started, "Please let me come inside you. I- I need it. I need to breed you so badly. I want to see it leak out of you. I missed you so much, let me come inside you."
Honestly not bad. He could have done better but you'll accept it for now.
"Stay still." You whispered in his ear and while he was still inside of you, you began to lift your hips to slide his dick in and out of your cunt. You moaned loudly as you fucked yourself self and all Al Haitham could do was hold himself up as you used him.
In a moment of weakness, he tried moving his hips to match yours but you shut that down with a harsh pinch to his nipple.
"I said stay still." You breathed through moans and words that made his dick twitch within you.
Finally you came for a second time. You laid back and could see sweat beading at his forehead. Out of curiosity, you pushed Al Haitham back just enough to separate you two and the sight made you huff a small laugh. His cock was so swollen and ready to burst. The tip an angry red; it twitched and pulsed without being touched.
You began rubbing the tip with your hand and Al Haitham choked out a sob.
"No. Please. I wanna….inside."
Having played with him enough you laid back and helped him put himself back in you. And you wrapped your legs tightly around his hips so he couldn't break out. That was all Al Haitham needed to fuck you desperately. A string of Thank yous and I love you, I missed you fell from his lips as his cock rubbed every nerve of your walls. You held him tighter and bit his neck.
He moaned into your ear and came. It felt like it wouldn't stop as he came. He continued to do small pumps before going deep to make sure his seed would be planted within you.
You both laid there for a minute, basking in the moment. You rubbed his hair as his breathing returned to normal. He finally pulled out and stared in between your legs. You spread them further for him and put two fingers in. You played with yourself and finally spread your pussy lips apart for him to see his cum leaking out. You felt it, and scooped it up before it could get too far.
With your cum-soaked fingers, you gave him a come here motion and said "Clean me up."
He got to work on eating you out, not caring that it was his own cum or that he wanted it to stay in you.
You forced Al Haitham's head down as you praised him Good boy, so excited to clean me up real good huh?
Al Haitham moaned against your spent pussy and pushed his tongue into your cunt to scoop it all out. Sucking and licking until it's all gone.
Finally, when it was, you laid him on your chest. You wiped down his face and chest with a prepared washcloth and he did the same to you. As he laid, he focused on your heartbeat; he found great comfort in it and wrapped his arms around you tightly to never let you go.
After a few minutes you spoke.
"Thank you for that baby. I know you wanted to breed me and I made you clean it up but," you pulled his face up just enough for you to see his eyes, "That just means we get to have more rounds until I'm full, huh."

all and half pt. i
in which your fate intended is the one person you can achieve true pleasure from
pairing: modern au! alhaitham x fem! reader, minor kaveh wc: 10k+ (i wrote over 70k+ words for genshin alone last year, that's crazy talk) rating: mature 18+
a/n: so we have two people to thank for this. 1. @mystic-sky rescued my sanity with this fic. i always worry about characterization and plot sense. she's actually the culprit who got me into genshin so really it all started with her. and she made me tear up a bit so here we are. 2. you guessed it, @mediocrityexpert who never failed to mention this man at all opportunities with pictures included until i became the simp you see now. this fic is meant to be her wish banner charm! hope this story brings as much joy as his homecoming
Tumblr media
you had a plan.
a simple and easy one-step outline that was meant to be fool-proof for a lifetime.
avoid your fate intended and you wouldn’t have any problems
the idea of connecting with another living being on a level of complexity assisted by the archons would be thought to be a spiritual venture. except the very gods who wrote the lining principals found more value in physical compatibility rather than soul binding merit.
it was proclaimed, since what is thought to be the beginning of teyvet, that an individual's soul would be tied to another through the carnal utopia found at the peak of an orgasm. scholars liked to believe that it was a forethought with intention to cultivate the proliferation of humanity; but you like some just inhaled a little too much meditation incense.
if you never reached true nirvana then there was nothing for you to compare it to. thus, you could go about enjoying the frivolousness of life and it's untethered freedom.
there was something to say about 'true love' when your soulmate could only be found at the peak of an orgasm. they say for those who have had sex in the past that nothing is commensurable beyond that. you don’t even have to love the person. the sex is just that good.
apparently it’s the worst for virgins—never knowing what came before and rarely having the courage to experience anything less.
the idea of soulmates was a broken concept of love. ruining stable relationships for the desire of an infallible sexual experience. to think fates were willing to reduce passion down to its most carnal physical form and bind people to it.
it was the forbidden fruit for some.
or what was left after it fell from the hands of celestia.
you weren’t in a relationship; had nothing to tie you down. but you refused to have your body hijacked by one person who could only rock your world because of erotic devine intervention.
it didn’t make you easy by any terms, just determined to always have a taste for what else the world had to offer.
there was good sex out there.
mind blowing, leg numbing sex.
and not everyone needed the most expensive cake in the shop to achieve satisfaction.
and that had been the testament of your life thus far, until today.
you were there, edging over the line you’d come to know like a second home, when it all just stopped.
the sheets shifted as the figure hovering above used his hold against your headboard to halt the progression of his hips.
“sorry, i just can’t.”
and the dessert began to crumble.
his face pinched in a way that was far from sexy, “it’s not you.”
of all the times.
“i just thought it was all myth and legend you know. it wasn’t possible for one person to hold the key to your sexual awakening, right?”
and now he was pulling out. no, no, no. you head hit the stale fluff of your pillow with a thump.
“or maybe it’s just you-.
you found flimsy satisfaction thump in the sound that came from knocking the second pillow into the blonde head of hair.
“okay, okay. not you. it was great before. but now it’s just—“
archons.
groaning into the mattress, you accepted that the mood was beyond repairable, left to simmer in the rustled sheets and sticky wetness connecting your thighs. honestly what was fate thinking ruining a perfectly good thing.
“you don’t even love them, kaveh.” you grumbled out crassly. maybe it was a little insensitive. but it was true.
he’d run into them on a whim, no more bound to you than you were him. it had only taken one night and and a short consideration to make a difference it seemed.  kaveh had once he was a pessimist like you; willing to stick a middle finger to fate and find your own asylum without discovering the road paved out for you.
the two of you shared stories, marking your own sexual discoveries while exploring ones of your own. you could have married him.
maybe.
eventually, possibly, after accepting that you had unearthed all you could from your back- and other various positions.
were you selfish to deem it unfair ?
you’d taken a chance. you filtered through all the variables in an attempt to beat the odds. only to have it slapped in your face. and they even took away your orgasm with a last hoorah.
“it’s fine.”
it wasn’t.
well, you would move on. he was the best so far but there were plenty of fish in the sea it seemed as if he caught a bigger one, so to say. it wasn’t the least bit awkward as the two of you gathered your clothing, less of you as in the comfort of your own home you were comfortable in just a shirt and panties.
an old shirt of his in fact.
the last of your collection.
he has the nerve to actually look guilty at the door and you can’t bring yourself to weigh him down any further.
“hey, we were in a mission to find all the wonders of sex. be happy you get to clock out before your dick fell off.” the pat on the shoulder you give him feels lacking, but you had to stretch to get there so it wasn’t without effort.
his lips split into a small cautionary smile.
“hey, maybe yours is—“
no. nope. no evil spirits in your house.
all hospitality leaves you as you press and prod him through the door. just because he was content didn’t mean you were ready to accept the deal.
“don’t let your next orgasm send you into a coma. baby steps, kaveh.”
he laughs like you expect him too, waving you off with a wider grin as he departs, likely to slip into the bed of his dreams.
and now you were left with an absent orgasm and one less reliable partner.
great.

it’s funny how something so soul binding can’t even be properly taught in school. it's wholeness left for young people to discover on their own experience and limited research on the subject available to the general public. teachers spoke lightly on the topic of becoming one with another through body and soul.
the only interesting thing to come from joining the akademiya was dissertations being written as close to erotic novels.
you convinced yourself to take it easy-ier over the last few weeks since kaveh's unforeseen retreat. you were not that desperate for a good lay and fate would end up handing you want you didn’t desire if you weren’t careful. so instead of your usual nightclubs and after hour ventures, you found yourself wasting hours in lighter pubs.
maybe not completely losing time. a decent drink and sound music was as good a stress reliever as any.
relaxing into the bar seat, you manage to keep from losing your balance. the lack of back support seemed like a latent encouragement of chances of falling to the floor, but you were only two glasses in at the moment. as your fingers traced the edge of the glass in languid circles, you wonder if you should just call it a night.
it had been quite awhile since you’d let yourself wander into bars. back in your early undergrad days, it had been in the accompaniment of friends to alleviate any stress built up over the semester. it was safe to say you’d matured a little since then; or at least discover an alternative that was just as satisfying.
but then kaveh had to go and ruin that.
it was as equally frustrating to admit you were both dissatisfied with the abrupt departure as you were pleased it ended before it festered into something too entangled for you both to escape. though 'finding your soulmate ‘ route was still well outside your expectations.
nearly a year ago, your introduction to kaveh had been fortuitous. he was a graduate, senior to your status, but a frequent of the akademiya due to renovation projects. he had been a pretty face, an easy distraction when his latest construction was near the vahumana school grounds.
all it took was a pair of wandering eyes and a few smiles to strike up a conversation. after a cursory drink here and there and a night out of fun, the kindling chemistry began.
it had never been an intention for either party to make it more than that. one shot too many had kaveh confessing about his mountains of debt that put him in direct servitude to the akademiya.
and you had no desire to date either, at least not while the sages were still prickling your nerves about research. but you also were willing to admit that you were getting a little too old to be bar hopping for a night out.
kaveh fit comfortably in the midst of both criteria.
he was a reliable lay and it helped that lately it took effort to run into one another. he was always focused on a new project and you spent more time in the library than your own apartment. which was ironic, because the majority of your ‘meetings’ occurred at your place rather than his.
something about a belligerent roommate.
now he was out gallivanting in the desert in the pursuit of creative inspiration; an interesting metaphor when he was towing his newest obsession along for the ride.
but apparently that was a thing of the past as you found yourself in an establishment that was better referred to as a tavern than a bar, or at least one less frequented by akademiya students. the campus bars were always full and bursting with a cocktail of students and occasional faculty members. it was a dangerous mix of egos and alcohol.
it was why you found it worth it to venture to port ortmos on occasion to the habour tavern. the lack of boisterous music was nice, but the atmosphere was empty of intrigue. not to mention the place hardly offered a promising selection. not a favorable gift of wine, and top shelf liquor was hardly in their vocabulary, let alone supply list. you decided eventually not to waste time trying to explain the ingredient of a zaytum sunrise.
a sigh tickled you lips and your shoulders sagged an inch lower. really there were more pressing issues than laminating over bed partners. you were rapidly approaching the end of your scholarship, making you one step closer to your dissertation. which was still a prospective theory with no hardened evidence worth presenting.
it took something akin to guts to challenge the age old belief of soulmates. in sumeru, it was the equivalent of a religion and you stood as the outsider throwing rocks at the stained glass chapel.
what you believed wasn't meant to be interpurted as hate, but clashing ideology tended to paint one side as the villain in order to raise the value of the rest.
you didn’t want to topple the pedagogy, but be given the opportunity to confront it fairly. but with a theory so widely supported in droves, it was no surprise that no one took it seriously. the akademiya hadn’t even blinked when you had proposed it, not threatened in the slightest.
nor had you wanted them to be. all you wanted was to be heard and given the chance to provide a new perspective.
your mentor had been rather agreable about the matter, offering encouragement and diffusing tension in equal bouts. but they also had their concerns, more so for your future than the present.
though not insistent on deterring you, they often hinted at your growing fascination in conservation and rejuvenation of old practices to save the future. the histories of the past often held secrets for the future, they liked to say. vahumana was as proud as any house, determined to make their mark on the world and the research that gave it life.
but you liked to argue that the past also had plenty of mistakes as well, a shaky ground to dispute your soulmate theory on but one worth grasping all the same.
“maybe i should just summerise my conservation efforts,” you grumbled audibly, reluctantly tipping the ice-melted drink down the back of your throat. it was the easy way out.  the more practical route with postgraduate application as well.
discussing soulmates with anyone felt too much like a religious sermon. the emotional process was part of the passion needed to drive the evidence behind the dissertation. half of the presentation was to comfort the audience of your opinion and you had plenty to say on the matter.
cutting your gaze back over your shoulder, you gradually took in the atmosphere of the tavern. it was small, likely a family owned heirloom passed down generations, a homey style that you’d seen quite a few bars back in the city try to replicate. frankly, it was dusty, cracked and you missed the appeal but it seemed popular with the quieter population. perhaps not as full tonight, but most tables were occupied by one or two patrons. sensibility correcting your wandering gaze, you reluctantly trained your eyes back forward. no need to garner anyones attention, there was hardly anyone here for that kind of late night ventures. mature men were a stark difference from akademiya students. you shudder off the imaginary thought of a stranger’s touch.
eventually you set your glass down for the last time, signalling the bartender without a word as he rounded back to check on you. in their approach you considered balancing one more round on your psyche. it’d been only been your second glass, watered down at that. you’d linger longer if need be to sober up. but archons, did you just want a glass of wine.
you parted your lips to initiate the order, the bartender not far away to request, but then his gaze was snapping beyond you. a slow tilt of familiarity formed his lips, followed by a polite wave. mannerisms encouraged you not to turn your head, but curiosity was a painful pinch. it was almost too difficult to resist. you were grateful when the bartender moved for you, not even perturbed when he bypassed you for a few seats down.
the quiet bustle was still too heavy for the distant conversation to carry. idly you twist at the mini straw floating along the melting ice as you way.
it took a few more moments for the bartender to return to you, an apology muted at his lips but you shrugged it off, sliding the glass closer. “just one more. no ice.” he gave his affirmation, the soft smile still lingering. you weren’t piqued by his brightened service. he’d been nothing but amicable to you, but it was something to take notice of.
the moment his back turned, the burning itch came back. just a peek. everyone got first looks, it wouldn't put you on the spot. you was sure it was nothing you hadn’t seen before but now you had to be certain of it, the tethers of inquisitiveness pulling at your gaze.
okay, well you definitely hadn’t seen that.
he was certainly something to observe. the first thing that caught your attention was his musculature, mainly the girth of his arms that were propped against the bar as unaware of the potential interest they could draw.  not to say it was the first time you had been impressed, but he was filled out in a way that tore a page out of a different volume. you had grown use to the leaner builds at the akademiya.
but it wasn’t just his build, his presence alone took up so much space it was already hard enough to miss him without that silver threaded hair. he held an air of authority that felt strangely familiar yet foreign in the port.
the click of glass against the counter brought heat to your cheeks as you were caught, your head whipping back to attention. “thank you,” but he was already gone, moving on to the next attendant.
you filtered through a quiet breath, pretending to be engaged by your phone with spotty service. at this point you were nearing an issue you weren’t ready to admit to at such an early stage. while you were comfortable in saying you could go quite a while without kaveh, the eccentric architecture; kavrh jr’s absence was starting to have some drawbacks.
to think the bastard was possibly warming someone else’s bed while you refrained from tempting your own. what you refused to believe was that it was the best time of his life. you brought that man closet to the archons than anyone could.
yet here you were siting alone in a tavern nearly undressing a stranger after hardly a few weeks of no intimacy. what were you thinking even considering the idea? the bartender floated neatly around him but aside from that he hardly gave the impression of being approachable.
archons ... and weren’t you just imagining how uncomfortable it would be to be approached by someone from this bar. but technically weren’t you one encroaching now? had this been just another city establishment, for one you’d have some proper wine. but at the very least you’d usually just talk. if the receiving end didn’t like it, then oh well, you weren’t circling them like they were the sun.
so he wouldn’t be any different.
besides, if you didn't say anything now you’d be running scenarios of this moment until you really did go insane. you dreaded the thought already.
you were slightly attracted to him- okay, pretty attracted. and you were still a young adult, it was the season of flings and one offs. surviving your final year at the akademiya thrived a little excitement. cutting your eyes sideways, you recalculated your chances. maybe he-
“if you have something to say, say it. your flittering is just as distracting.”
if warmth described you before, flames were dancing beneath your skin now. the man wasn’t discreet in the slightest, not caring who listen to the exchange. or maybe he was speaking to someone else- oh no, he was looking at you and he was not very intrigued. for a pause you were caught by a churring sea of turquoise.
you stumbled over deliberation shortly before a new emotion countered the transition. weren’t you just accepting cutting losses? if he was lacking interest then what was the point.
against your internal will, your lips pulled into a scowl at the potent irritated disinterest in his voice.  “yes, because i’m sure it’s me that’s distracting”
well, that was not exactly how you intended to start this whole scenerio. playing hard to get was already a slippery slope and your face of indifference was faltering. you could see it mirroring back from the look of reflection on his face. or maybe that was just him contemplating the consequences of just leaving. or maybe he was truly in with the owner enough to kick you out.
for another moment it looked like he might just, and then something shifted. he reached for his glass again, the amber colour much like your own but in a higher volume. the amount of his intake challenged yours as well, or so you would have noticed if you hadn’t been so entranced by the movement of his adam’s apple.
“-students.”
what?
you caught the tail end of fostering chagrin but you knew you were rapidly eating up his reserves for patience. really, he could have just been here to relax, not get harassed by some akademiya scholar.
the man stared at you for a second longer, then scoffed. “apparently the standards have dropped. what school are you from?”
“i…” you trail off, feeling a little nonplussed by the implied merit. “vahumana.”
he hums, a sound audibly dry with scrutiny. “the study of history and the past of our predecessors. fitting to dig into the business of others as you cant seem to mind your own.”
you narrowed your eyes at him,” and you must have been haravatat.”
he huffed in amusement and reached for his glass, the rim tips against the tilt of his lips. he didn't diffuse your assumption. “why's that?”
“because only you would be so far up our asses to know what business we were sticking into.”
there was a smile, but the tone was serious. “cute. what year?”
“final.”
“good. any longer and you might have become unbearable.”
you shot him a look of rebuke,”those same standards would imply that you got kicked out.”
“aw, its adorable that you think we’re held at the same degree,” he said. “i’m afraid i simply out grew their expectations.”
you scoffed. he was so stupidly cocky. “uh huh.” you prepared to turn away when he chirped back, amusement bleeding into the heart of his motive.
“done biting already? didn’t think you would bend to authority so quickly. but i suppose akademiya students know when to fall in line.”
you shot him a chiding look. he came across as tall but the way his torso seemed to stretch even seated. it would have been impressive enough without the additional bulk that added an unfair amount of definition to his clothing—attire that had speckles of familiarity in both its design and colour scheme.
“you work for the akedmiya.”
he watches you silently. allowing you to work through the calculations. he obviously wasn't a teacher, you would have at the very least heard of him by now especially since he was confirmed haravatat. he had maybe a year or two on you,  just enough to be an established graduate.
looking back now, he did look a bit distinguished. the fine details of his clothing hinted equally at quality and prestige. though the material was tighter to form than usual robes, but you would admit it had it's own unique sense of flair. still it didn't give the full answer you were looking for.
“that’s all you can differ? disappointing.”
“if i’m so unsatisfying, why bother holding a conversation?”
he gives you a look over and you realise you weren't the only one noticing a few things. he was just more subtle.
“with your mouth closed, you’re mildly appealing.”
you could barely resist the roll of your eyes. “funny, most men would say they might prefer it wide open.”
“you must have a lot of soulmates with that kind of confidence.”
this time the effort was for naught as you turn away.
“oh, sore topic?”
his voice carried despite the action, a touch more smug.
“well i’m assuming your odds of not finding your true partner are promising enough.”
surprised into reacting, you twist your body in his direction. it was an odd choice of words given the subject. it almost felt as though he were implying something.
“i have your interest then?”
the intrigued man angled his body towards you leaving you no room to misinterpret his attention. “we both agree that there is physical attraction. and though i doubt i need more points, the likelihood of us discovering the epitome of pleasure is a low possibility.” the offer  is so blunt as he roves you over with calculating appreciation, but those eyes… that blue-green fire-
don’t find that arousing. he’s being a dick.
feeling a bit unsettled by your desire, you averted your eyes briefly before raising them back to his handsome face. you had never once considered yourself weak, the spirit alone strong enough to challenge the akademiya worth its weight in mora.
pure stubbornness was your greatest defence against a lot of things.
but temptation was a trial fought time and time again.
he read your resolve like an open book and finished his drink in an impressive swallow before rising to his feet. he waved down the bartender with a quick hand and then put down a few notes of mora with the other. he walked with intent, hardly harbouring an inch of reprieve in any direction. whatever he was, this was his hunting grounds and he set his sights on you.
your mouth was dry, glass still untouched as you visibly shuddered under his shadow, “i’m not some easy student-”
archon be willed, you denied yourself the privilege of running your sight down the length of his arm as it benched securely between you body and the bar. there was a smart smirk on his face that you hadn’t witnessed yet, a challenge that you’d be dragged through whether you wanted to or not. “no, you’re just spun too tight and could benefit from new lesson.”
you parted your lips to rebuttal but he silenced you with a hum. “i’m not going to play the role of some authoritative figure you desperately need. you can either come along or play games with someone else.”
a streak of heat crackled along your nerves at the rawness of his words. to be honest, he looked absolutely done with your presence but there was a primal edge of something you couldn’t place rooting him there. whatever drug him down to this bar was still devouring away at him, tightening his defences to the peak of stress.
yeah, you bet he could use a stress reliever alight.
your eyes slipped close as a low groan escaped you.
                                                 |     ⚘⚘⚘      |
it had taken you an embarrassingly small amount of seconds to fork over common sense as you hastily scrambled to procure payment, only to have your attempts overrun by another careless slip of a few bills to cover much more than you had spent that night. it was no wonder he was so popular here.
he didn’t just walk like he owned the place, it certainly seemed like it as he guided you out of the door with a firm hand at the small of your back. not one pair of eyes crossed your paths and from the corner of your own you witnessed the bartender already moving to clear your spot.
a minute later, you were outside in the slight chill of the nighttime air. but where you were expecting the man to hail a car, instead urged you along the cobble-stone path.
“you live in port ortmos?”
“is that a problem?”
“i just …”
he lifted his chin slightly, “expected me to live in sumeru city? no, i stay there enough for work.”
you hum thoughtfully at the new information,“so that’s why the bartender was so familiar.”
“or maybe he just likes me.”
“or maybe he just likes your money.”
“why are you so sure that i have money?”
it takes effort not to mention the cash he’d tossed so carelessly onto the table top. there could have been one too many stuck to gether, but he had not even paused to check. instead you gesture marginally to the fine clothing stretching over the girth of his arm.
“well at least i know you're only after my body.”
“it's certainly not your personality,” you respond flatly.
“you would prefer the bigger of the two.”
you click your tongue and look away, determined not to snort at the smooth jest.
the short trip ends when he taps his key fob against the entrance of a modestly built apartment complex overlooking the port.
“anyone you need to inform of your nightly ventures?" he breaks the silence as he hits the bottom for the elevator to jerk into motion.
it occurs to you with no great pleasure that he was indeed right. you had followed the man with only the speculation that he was part of the akademiya in some capacity. at least you had confidence that he hadn't drug you to some seedy part of town and as long as the bartender didn't sell you out, there would be an evidence trail.
still you shot off a quick text to a friend, letting them know of your location in the port.
“good girl.”
you scowled to which he returned the gesture with a broad smile.
fortunately, the elevator door opened before anything more could spark. he stepped out first, leading you four doors down before unlocking it and flickering on the first light available. he waved you in with a nod of the head.
if he was a secret murderer, he was one with good tastes. from the entrance, the home opened up into a modern looking living room with panel windows hanging high above the quiet streets. to the right, an impressive kitchen held more appliances than you even knew what to do with. you assumed the final hallways led down towards the bedroom and other accessory rooms. overall, it was quality living. something to dream of after finally graduating from the akademiya. yet it still did not offer anything more of his position.
overly curious, you ask, “what is it you do again?”
he smiles, all mischief, “i’m just a feeble scholar.”
the man expects your scoff, lip curling higher as he vaguely gestures to the darkened kitchen,“i’d offer you a drink, but then i’d have to cut the night short. i don't sleep with drunks.”
you shrugged off your jacket, folding it over before lying it on the couch. “i’m not a lightweight.”
he tucked his free hand into his pocket, “but you’re in my home. house rules for guests i’m afraid.”
his shoes echo off the floors as he walked towards you, teasing closeness until you stepped back in turn. a second later, you were backed against the wall connecting the kitchen to the hall.
you swallowed hard to control the nerves flaring under your skin. it was infectious with the way his eyes travelled slowly from your eyes to your lips. he was shameless, continuing down past your collor bone to the subtle swell of your breast until the weight of his gaze dampened your breaths.
eagerly, you arched your spine,” how else do you treat your guests?”
his eyes retuned to your face,” i suppose you’ve earned that much.” he shuffled closer and trailed his thumb along your jawline, then leaned in and kissed you. his other hand came up to cradle the other side of your face as his lips tugged gently at yours before coaxing them apart.
then his tongue slips into your mouth and you whimper. its an embarrassing sound that pulls a reaction from him as he breaks the kiss.
he’d never been close enough before to take in the spicy smell of his person, an additional spritz of expense. something about it burned your nose from this proximity, like he was activating too many of your other senses to not notice. his hands were hot and heavy as they groped at your body, following the curve of your hips and testing the weight of your breast.
his tongue lapped at your neck, each action only a span of minutes already accumulating a pool at your core.
you just wanted to kiss him again but he seemed to conveniently remain out of reach. to test it, you craned your neck again only to have him counter by nipping at your ear.
“did you come to that place just to get laid, sweetness?”
you were beginning to edge away from the dry tone of his voice but he had yet to be proven innocent from the other assumptions. blood finally returned to your hands, rendering you with the ability to move as you grappled at his own body, lavishing in the not so hidden display of muscle. “did it look like it?,” you eventually responded back.
that earned you another nip, obviously not the answer he was looking for. it wasn’t a gentle one either. the sharp bite of it was still echoing through your nerves and ripping a yelp of arousal from your lips.
“i just wanted a drink.”
he bit you again.
you quickly wailed out the truth of the matter, a short sentence about your growing frustration before waiting for another reprimand but the firm pressure of lips responded instead and you sagged into the warmth of it. you dared to ask the same of him but you doubt you had enough strength behind your teeth to get him to comply.
his pace was ruthlessly, hands sliding and discarding clothing, certainly not interested in prolonging the moment.
“you’re going to miss that attitude when i’m done with you.”
the weight of his words should not have produced the reaction that it did. but god did it make you so wet. this man would probably fuck anything. and everything would let him fuck them.
you’re grappling on to his bicep, meaty muscle probably tenderised from long hours at a pricey gym. he loops one of your legs around his waist, leaving the other standing to allow more room for himself. his fingers are dry when they first touch you, though not for long as they absorb the slickness your body throws at him wantonly. a thumb tweaks your numb and your breath hitches into a pant as he curls two thick fingers into you without warning.
his face remains refined but his touch is explorative, teasing the spongy walls as he stretches them to their limitations. “unexpected debut but not a bad way to end the night.”
you wished his words would have less of an effect on you, the dichotomy of them and his touch making you out to be a blushing virgin.
and he keeps talking.
“akademiya girl, huh? bet you think you’re so smart. “
you keen lowly as he introduces a third fingering, forgoing rudimentary scissoring to just plunge them into your depths. you arch against his hold bucking with no ground to stand on. his hitches your leg higher as a reminder, threatening your barely there balance.
“look at you, all spread out for me. i said what five words to you? did they not teach you manners? a lot has changed.” he presses with the intent of stretching limitations, and you’re grateful for the debauched ministrations. science and biology taught you more than enough about anatomical proportionality.
“no resistance. you’d let me fuck you for less wouldn’t you? ” but with the way words just kept off his tongue without preamble, you were nearing certainty that he’d ride the glide of your channel without much resistance.
he works a hand up the loose material of your shirt, sending your bra into disarray as he tweaks a nipple sharply. the pain is acute, shuddering through your body like a ripple. your groan rolls into a soft hiss as he does it again, enunciating  the action with words.
“i asked you a question.”
the pressure returns and your body squirms. it's enough to plunk the strings of obediency as your mouth is quick to answer.
“yes!”
his fingers rip from you, cutting the strings of your impending release and you hear the tell tale signs of a belt jingle. the material of his pants shifts, but unlike you they never leave his hips.
“fuck.” he frees himself, af the musk of him permeates the air. it’s almost intoxicating, urging you too look but you fight the urge. “i knew it. you came to that tavern looking for someone to bit that edge off.”
you don’t have to, because he’s pressing into you thick and hard and your walls flutter around him. with efficiency, he hitched your last standing leg up as well, leaving you suspended at his mercy. “good thing i came in, i bet you were getting unbearable to your little friends.”
the wall reverberates against the knocking of your body, the offbeat staccato telling any nosey neighbours all they need to know. that's if they weren’t already use to the frequency of overnight guests.
“just needed a few pumps to set you right. “
you tilt your head back and his immediate reaction is to latch back onto your neck, no doubt intending to bruise you both physically and mentally. he’s not immune to his own sounds, grunting through explications with each thrust. archons, it’s so hot, feeling the weight of him dragging over the wet hole, soon to be coined as a delicious ache before the night’s end.
it’s uncertain if he drew blood, the sticky wetness of your throat a toss up between the possibility and perspiration.
his name. you need to know his name. desperate to whine it, cry for it, tattoo it onto your tongue. you ask as much of it without realising.
-haitham.
you’re supposed to learn of it so soon but don’t disappoint the expectation following the admission.
“my name is alhaitham.” his name rolls off fluidly and you bite down to savour it before it’s gone.
your head rolls back against the wall, mouth parted for air as your eyes squeeze shut. your breast rise and fall with each hurried breath as alhaitham pins his focus on the thrum and the heat of your clit.
he’s back at your throat, nosing against the constrictions as your voice strains high and desperate.it was dominating, overwhelming, and even though you could accept that you enjoyed it, you still couldn’t understand why. domineering had it’s attractive qualities, sure, but it was arguably a delicate matter. one that took a fine tuned perspective to account for any aversions and hone in on the pointes of gratification.
and he knew.
“you looked so pretty at the bar. i’m almost grateful you were so nosy. now you look even more gorgeous. pinned against my wall like a painting.”
a shower of sparks rain down over you and cracks open the door to the flash of lights stippling the dark behind your eyes. you rock yourself forward until it becomes clear that you’re fucking yourself on his fingers until theirs both slick and resplendent with your essence.
it should be the end, the cut off of your journey but the trip feels like it's leagues long until the horizon breaks and you’re no longer anchored to the terrestrial spear but floating within the realm of celestia.
he removes his fingers slowly, excruciatingly so, and smears your release over your clit and skin. your nerves feel as delicate as your bones feel weightless.
you're fortunate that alhaitham is close enough to catch you as you all but collapse against the wall, feeling like someone—no your fate intended—removed all the bones in your body. cheek pressed against his chest, you inhale the scent of his skin while wondering if this was the exact feeling kaveh had. it was indescribable. like you were racing toward the end of days, on the verge of expiring by your own inability to call back the breath that alhaitham had stolen from your lungs. it's a dichotomy of wonder and fear as you come to terms with a terrifying realisation.
you want more.
alhaitham lets out a throaty hoarse sound when you bury your hands in his hair and tug at the thick base. he presses his lips harder against yours, determinedly set on devouring you with teeth and tongue if he can get away with it. in turn, you wrap your legs back around the already familiar notch at his hips and squeeze, drawing your front flush against his.
his erection remains hard and insistent. it’s enough to make you sigh happily against his mouth, arousal blooming above her navel at the promising orgasm it will provide.
“i want you,” you gasp between kisses, cupping his cheek with one hand while the other continues to pull at his hair.
alhaitham grunts again at the action and sneaks a hand down between you two to cup your wet mound. two fingers press up, spreading your spend and is immediately reward with another sweet hasp from your lips as he teases the sensitive nub.
archons, just the faintest touch of his fingers against you is enough to drag back the reminder of the shattering kaleidoscope until the only thing you can think of is him—alhaitham— with either his soul-binding fingers or his cock buried inside. you don't care if it's a repeat performance or something new, as long as you come.
the truth is so palpable between you but alhaitham has sense enough not to mention it. instead he dips as his arm slips under your knee to pull you into his arms. he walks you towards the darkened hallway where the door at the end opens into his bedroom.
alhaitham pulls at your clothes and you let him, sliding them down until you’re left with nothing and reaching for his. he follows you onto the bed, bracing himself over you. he lowered his head to kiss you, holding you still as he ravishes your mouth until you’re forced to break apart, breath haggard from the effort.
you blink blearily up at the broad shoulder hovering just by your nose as you resist the itch to squirm. the grip holding you down had lessened dramatically in the last few minutes, the weight of trust holding you still. a soft sigh tickles your lip as his forehead rolls against yours, light and nuzzling.
“you’ve finally lost some of that attitude. that is good. you’re doing so good,” his voice is less dry, holding warmth and reverence for compliance. your head tilts up to seek his lips again, craving the gentle touch and the taste of exhalation.the sharp edges of thoughts fade away, leaving only room to consume and receive. a reward comes in the tweak of thick fingers returning to your apex, twisted deep within you and curling for purchase. in return, you sigh into his mouth, pleased, as you rock into the affection.
“think you can return the favour? let me see what all the fuss is about?” his smile savours the flavour of saccharine, both appealing and intoxicating and you find yourself nodding in acceptance without cause. alhaitham knows he has you anyway- always had- you’d crawl for his mercy if just to have a a taste of the nirvana only he could give you.
he feels the motion of your nod, pressed so close,” i’d like to know what it’s like. feeling your open mouth, the sounds of your gasp as you choke on my cock. ”
his hand remains low, twisting within you as your own rides the length of his body. it’s a stretch, but you manage to brush against the underside of his cock, tracing the thick vein protruding against the surface. your heart thrums, seeking his praise even as his hand leaving you and his thighs shift upward until he hovers at your face.
the heat of him bobs from the movement, tapping your lip and smearing its tackiness. his hand cards through your hair, rumbling veneration as you lick it away then open your mouth to stretch around him.
alhaitham’s hand, girthy and wide, teases the nap of your neck, forming a brace without asking. the rhythm of your tongue is met with a heavy groan of approval, the volume increasing as you swallow around him. the coordination of suction is breathing is an erratic dichotomy but you managed- for him. your mouth continues to caress him as he grows, hips beginning to undulate in aid.
“you’re going to swallow it all, aren’t you, sweetness? for me?” he’s curled over you, blowing through harsh pants as he coaxes another inch down your throat. it still lacked the depth that he would have wanted, but you would still make it good for him.
tears bubble behind your eyes, though not from pain, from sacrifice as you nod once more. it’s still an impossibility to take him to the hilt, but with passion you come close. swallowing the bitter taste of him until the taste of it is tattooed on your tongue. it’s a musky bitterness, thick with salt.
his voice is but a whisper, rolling against your ears. “yes, sweetheart. make me proud.”
you splayed your hands against his thoughts, fingernails digging a little into the skin there but alhaitham could care less. in fact, you dared to say he enjoyed the pinch of pain. it most noticeably shattered his ability to prologe his release as his eyes closed and he allowed the orgasm to surge through him.
this close, it was impossible not the notice the intense ripple of sensations as his nerve endings sparked with a powerful wave that had his knees trembling above you. just when you feared he might topple, he leaned back, rolling to the side and combing a haggard hand through his hair.
then your eyes connected and the truth you’d damned up inside, burst forward, barrelling through your defences and overwhelming you.
this man. alhaitham was your soulmate. this stranger whom you’d let take you home, ravish you beyond your wildest dreams and given you an core shattering orgasm that you were still reeling from. alhaitham who had come to lean in closer than you realised, must have come to the same conclusion as his mouth sealed over yours.
the featherlight caress of your lips to his made your body yearn for something more than one-sided release, the promise of coming together as one—
a sudden feeling of panic gripped your gut as the final dreads of your euphoria dripped away. scrabbling for your bearings, you nudged at him until he had no choice but to pull away, leaving you more exposed than ever.
alhaitham’s face was flush with exertion, eyes to feverish but his face was unguarded with uncertainty.
“are you alright?”
no, you definitely were not and you wouldn't be until you got home. even then you likely wouldn't be okay. you never would be the same after tonight.
“i should go—i shouldn’t have—i just need to leave.”
your heart seized with the sudden ache as realisation weighed down on you. this was not how this was supposed to go. not at all. you pushed yourself off his bed and onto your feet, hastily scrabbling for your clothing.
alhaitham picked his movements carefully as he straightened up on the bed,” it’s fine if you need space. i know this is a lot but it’s late. you should stay the night.” he gestures out out the door,” my roommate is gone for the weekend, you should take his room.”
but you were hardly listening as you pulled your top over head and headed for the door while working your arms through the sleeves. despite his offer, you continued past the adjacent door until you neared the entrance.
alhaitham’s steps were heavy as you followed behind. his hand came to your back to steady you as you hoped from one shoe to the other until they fit snug.
“you are overwhelmed and it's too late. you're not thinking clearly. i don't want you out in the city like this.”
you turned on him before he could finish, “you don't know me. just because were—you—,” you guested widely between the both of you. “this doesn't change anything. “
reading the room, the man carefully held up his hands in surrender. it should have been a commercial sight for a man of his stature given his still nude state.
“okay, okay. just wait, please.”
it’s the agreeableness that gives you pause. its give him just enough time to round the counter of the kitchen and rummage through one of the doors.  he spares the time to bring a pen to it. when he returns, its with a small card.
“i’m not asking for anything. but if you want to reach me, here. i wont seek you out. but you know where to find me.”
whether he was referring to the tavern or his home was vague. but the look in his gaze wasn’t. no matter how much he tried to hide it, it was there … the expectation.
you turned away and opened the door, clutched the cardstock in your hand as you hurried to the elevate and punched the downward key until it blinked and the doors opened. you threw yourself inside, not looking back not when the doors closed but until you were free of the building and ducking into the hailed car.
fucking kaveh, it should have never ended this way.
it had been quite a long time since you’d felt anything remotely shameful after a night in bed with someone new. with kaveh it had never been an issue as he’d wormed his way into a positon of comfort before he’d ever reached your bed.
the both of you had decided that you enjoyed the fragile lining between friendship and something more, confident that neither would seek out the unknown. he was focused on his growing list of projects to offset his student debt and you were still trying to make the most of your own expenses into your education.
it had been a simple arrangement that you had been forlorn to see it unravel. but you couldn't put stocks into blaming kaveh forever. he certainly had not led you to the bar housing your soul mate and had no ploy in getting you into their bed.
no the blame had been solely yours.
you had barely been able to look at your reflection in the mirror, finding it all the more damning to written the swollen redness of your lips and early signs of hickeys dotting your throat. there had been no point in examining the rest of your body as you slipped into the shower to wash away what you could. however the ache of his presence remained seeped into your bones even as you fell into your blankets.
there had been one too many unsuccessful attempts to silence your mind, your more reasonable half having a field day over-analyzing your choices.
eventually you'd given up on sleep altogether in favour of squinting against the glare of your phone. if you were going to be riddled by guilt, the best thing to do was to spin it into a web of evidence. for months, you had been trapped trying to craft a damning theory to challenge the damn-near will of the gods.
and in return they made you into your own attestation.
in your initial presentation, the sages had challenged your theory as one-sided, some even edging to accuse you of envy. at their age, it was difficult for you to speculate if one or any of them had found their soulmate. there was no rhyme or rhythm to discovering your fated partner.
some discovered them early, others had to wait until their last breath.
but in the city of sumeru, where the god’s will was paramount to divine expectation.
if anything the only thing worth of your envy was the free state of mondstat where the country had thrived under their archon’s guidance to seek out their own fate.
it was a plausible dream but sumeru was your home.
closing your eyes, you leaned back against the flatness of your pillow. but behind your eyelids, however, were the lingering traces of last night’s memories etched there. it began with those blue-green eyes, then the image panned out to reveal the entirety of alhaitham, broad and defined in ways built from a fantasy.
hissing out a sharp curse, your eyes snapped open to shatter the visage.
it was starting to feel like a never-ending joke. why could it not be as simple as falling in bed with an attractive man.
you’d barely typed out a sentence before you eventually gave up, signalling defeat with the snap of the device closing. rubbing your eyes, you kicked the device to the edge of the bed and sprawled back against the bed.
hopefully tomorrow would bring forth a more concise mindset.
|     ⚘⚘⚘      |
you woke several hours later tangled under a sea of blankets and the lingering taste of zaytum peaches. the faint glow of sunlight coming through the window indicated that it was sometime in the afternoon. instinctively, you rolled over to reached for your phone, heart stuttering at the feeling of hard cardstock against your fingertips.
there had been no effort made to forget about what had transpired less than twelve hours ago, nor was it meant to be a rude awakening. those thoughts were better suited after a shower and something to eat.
for now you roll out of bed in pursuit of the bathroom, mint taste and burn of mouthwash would help restart your day on a better note. you considered a second shower as well. the heat and steam was always a nice balm on a clogged brain, always helping to clear your head and think.
the promise of peace lasted about as long foam forming from the slow drag of your toothbrush against your teeth. it didn't take very long at all for your mind to sink into reality; the fog dissipating somewhat as you realised with dread that this would not be something you could avoid without some confrontation.
alhaitham
the name did not come without an overhanging cloud of density. it was a weighted thing, something of a reminder but you could not figure out the source beyond the stranger you’d met at the tavern bar.
it was fairly customary name in sumeru though your tallied occurrences were low. perhaps a stray soul at the market in passing but nothing of significance. it had been an akademiya joke to place him in harvata without truly knowing, purely inspired by the natural flow of banter.
but there wasn’t an alhaitham currently part of the darshan that you knew of. to be frank, when the name alhaitham came to mind it was only accompanied by occasional whispers in the absence of a highly regarded graduate and now scr—
your brows rose with each fragment of proof as realisation dawns with nauseating clarity. the soothing shower quickly becomes a brisk wash as you will your mind to calm.
you were so stupid. so so stupid.
spitting carelessly into the sink , you stagger through your strewn clothes as you return back to your bedroom with renewed vigour. the card you had tried to forget was quickly snatched up.
alhaitham kaysani
grand scribe
he was that alhaitham. the name bringing forth sobering clarity that had evaded you while post-orgasm. you had only known him in name, never having the opportunity to meet him. he wasn’t just faculty, he was damn near a sage after his achievements and one of the youngest to get so close.
and he was your soulmate.
snarky
callous
rational
these were all phantom rumours stitched into the reality of the man you’d come to witness.
but he was also dominating
attentive
and responsible when baring you to the world and unravelling you at the seems. there could be little fault in you for not recognizing him at first given the circumstances. you had never met the man before yesterday.
now, in the safety of your own home, you can admit to yourself that deep down, twisting your perceptions, you'd be a little relieved to have found him. yes, you were scared— worried that fate might have skipped you in your doubt— but the fated milestone was reached. and he had wanted you, albeit sexually, the setting had made you desirable enough to bring you home. even after discovering the truth, he’d reached for more.
in the end, you liked it; the weightlessness of floating above yourself for a moment; the rush of endorphins that seeped into the still waters. just the memory of it all has you tingling all over, hairs rising in protest.
despite your misgivings, the reality of it was, what you’d left behind was unfinished business. there was no plausible way for you to just go about your lives without addressing what was discovered. you knew your stance on the matter, but it was equally as important to understand his so that there would be no confusion in the future.
you were both scholars, but he was more welcoming to the present evidence than you were. though given the abrupt shift in your reality, a bit of additional clarity felt like a needed kindness.
tossing the card back down, you returned to the bathroom with the first spark of determination kindling. if your thoughts were going to be set aflame, you knew who to invite to the bonfire.
                                                 |     ⚘⚘⚘      |
“i thought you said you and kaveh were through?”
finding a friendship with dehya had been an unexpected but appreciative experience. sumeru city was built by and for the cultivation of scholars under the aged guidance of late archon of sumeru. the akedemiya prided itself on its accumulation of knowledge, though it had yet overcame its ostracism of the children of the desert.
it boiled down to conflicting views of the source of knowledge and whom it ultimately belonged too, but those like dehya hardly cared little of the dispute. it was old news kept relevant but elders who needed to let the new generation decide the future.
ultimately, she found interest in your defiance. shared stories among drinks and good company overwriting centuries of bad blood.
you drew the steaming cup warming your palm closer, finding solace in the simple smell of caffeine rather than the taste of it. dehya kept her inquiries limited when you had first requested her company at the portside coffee shop but now her curiosity was brimming as she scrutinized you from across the table.
“we are.”
“so this has something to do with the random quality of life text i got last night?”
the curl of her lips hinted that she already knew the answer, the slow grin widening further when you tossed her a less than impressed scowl.
“i found someone new.”
the sharp red of her freshly pained nails drummed patiently against the table top as her raised brow encouraged you to get on with it.
with a huff, you opted to just get it all out.
“i met a guy at a bar who ended up being my soulmate.”
the woman had the courtesy not to laugh outright in your face, but the quiet snicker that escaped through the side of her mouth couldn't hide her amusement.
“you know i was rooting for you. i thought if anyone could defy the odds it would be you.”
her support, while generous, was one-sided towards your benefit. dehya had her restraints when it came to the exaggerated nonsense spewed by the akademiya on the subject. but she couldn't deny it’s biological merits after discovering her other half in the form of her childhood friend and now girlfriend.
dunyarzad believed in a more muted rendition of the historic value of soul mates, a hopeless romantic that thrived on the magic of dreams. in a way you both humored the young woman, if only to be plagued with her infectious smile and outlook on life.
dehya smirked, leaning forward on her elbows. the flaky croissant you had purchased as a show of gratitude forgotten. “so you go out with a stranger and they rock your world … and now you’re in the same boat as the rest of us."
you stare at her blankly, “it’s not that simple.’’
“it is if you stick by the facts,” she answers smoothly. “so you had one good night, you’re not obligated to marry him. if anything, you're the one hung up over it. why not just leave it as that and move on?”
your body jolts with the instinct to protest, but the weighted gaze she holds over you keeps you rooted until the words seep in. you had hardly delved into the details of the night, but she was reading you like an open book.
society’s expectations weren't your reality. nor had alhaitham’s surmise given his perplexed but visible patience during your hasty escape. he had made the same discovery as you but didn’t hold you accountable for an explanation.
instead he gave you the option.
seek him out or leave it as it was.
knowing him would be an emotional burden but you had lived this long without encountering him and would eventually outlive the physical reminder.
dehya drew your attention back by the soft sound of her spoon clinking against the side of her mug.
“you’re my friend, but sometimes you scholars are all the same.”
setting the spoon aside, she leveled you with a look. “once you get a theory planted in your head, anyone outside of it is well out of reason. you all forget that the world is full of theories and opinions and there is so much more to explore if you would be more wiling to accept ones that aren't your own.”
her face softens as she reaches out to fold her palm over yours.
“you came to me for advice at least, so let me give it. everyone's soulmate situation is unique. your parents for example.” you flinch at the mention, years of memories solidifying the reason you sought out the akademiya.
dehya's fingers squeeze in reassurance as she continues. “at least hear him out. maybe their theory will compliment yours. and if not, well next time call me to a fight rather than a cup of coffee.”
the thinly veiled joke pulled a tight smile from your lips.
she was right though. as a scholar you had encouraged a new experience and were left to analyze the variables. the night had been an unexpected outcome but not a failure.
in the end, you liked it; the weightlessness of floating above yourself for a moment; the rush of endorphins that seeped into the still waters. just the memory of it all has you tingling all over, hairs rising in protest.
despite your misgivings, the reality of it was, what you’d left behind was unfinished business. there was no plausible way for you to just go about your lives without addressing what was discovered. you knew your stance on the matter, but it was equally as important to understand his so that there would be no confusion in the future.
you managed to finish your coffee before dehya eventually coaxed you out of the shop, muttering about a fresh text from dunyarzad as you parted ways at the entrance.
the warmth of her encouraging hug still lingered as you plucked the contact card from its perch on your nightstand.
flipping the card, you found a neat scrawl of additional numbers, the intention clear.
with that in mind, you reached for your phone and typed out a message.
‘i’d like to talk.’
your thumbs tap against the screen idly, hoping he was awake and wouldn’t keep you waiting. it was a safe assumption that the man was a morning person when the reply was sent a few minutes later.
‘fine. would you like me to come to you?.’
you thought about alhaitham coming to your flat.
grand scribe alhaitham who was hardly as inconspicuous in sumeru city.
soulmate alhaitham who had yet to have his way with you in your bed-
the last thing you needed to think about was either of you coming.
‘no, will you be home in the evening? i can be there.’
his reply was simple.
‘4pm.’
you stared at the text with a writhing feeling in your gut. it definitely needed to happen, a talk like this was better addressed soon than later. but maybe this was too soon. there was no taking the words back now but how hard would it be to just delete them? a simple swipe and tap and they’d be gone.
you’d avoided alhaitham this long. and if you stayed away from a certain tavern you could continue to do so. he didn’t seem like a man who would put effort into something that lacked fruition.
exhaling slowly, you tossed the phone away before you made another rash decision. confronting it now would be the smart thing to do. it was the best way to keep yourself from spiralling down a path of the unknown. just because you discovered your soulmate, nothing had changed.
granted he gave you the best orgasm you’d had so far in your life, it was just that. a night of carnage that had you waking up with nothing but regret. how could anyone chase something so recklessly because they felt that the archons put their stars too close together?
yes, tackling this now would let you set the record straight. you didn't want a marriage proposal but that didn't mean— no, you wouldn't speculate or conjure up anything until you got on the same page. alhaitham seemed like a rational person, he likely didn’t believe in soulmates either. a good night in bed got the best of everyone.
for a long moment, you stood in the noon shadow of your bedroom before eventually returning to the bathroom to finish your routine. as you brushed your teeth and washed your face, you tried hard not to look too close at your reflection again.
picking back up the phone, you craft and send a quick message to kaveh.
‘hope you haven’t fallen into a coma.’
and you hoped you aren't falling into a deeper mess.

I hope im not sending too many asks but- if you dont mind, could I request nsfw headcannons of a flirty and fun reader whos shy in the bedroom but with the daddies Zhongli, Alhaitham and Diluc? The first one i requested made me giggle and kick my legs so why not another -🥐
Flirty Fun Reader Who Is Shy In The Bedroom (NSFW)
Tumblr media
After so many years since Zhongli last dated, it was difficult for him to keep up with you.
You were so vibrant and fun to be around, and you brought the youth back to Zhongli.
He is a classy guy, but after dealing with your flirting for so long, he's learned how to give it right back.
He can be quite sensual when he wants to be, saying things that swept you off your feet.
He had expected your vibrant and extroverted personality to translate into the bedroom as well.
But the moment Zhongli slipped his jacket off, standing at the edge of the bed as he towered over you, he quickly realized that wasn't the case.
You had such a deep blush on your cheeks, and you couldn't even look him in the eyes.
"Is something the matter?"
You shook your head no, but you couldn't articulate what was happening to you.
"Is my little Dove nervous?"
Zhongli would climb on top of you once undressed, caging you against the bed.
"Don't worry; I'll help you reach new highs that will make you forget about your nervousness."
Tumblr media
Alhaitham loved your flirty and fun personality.
In public, he is more reserved, but when the two of you are alone, he matches your energy.
He is the biggest tease, and sometimes he even beats you to the punch.
One night he came up behind you, wrapping his arms around you from behind. He whispered sweet nothings into your ear, and before you knew it, the two of you were in his bedroom.
But you became flustered when he slipped his hands under your shirt.
Of course, he immediately noticed the flushed cheeks, the nervous fidgeting.
"Has my girlfriend been all talk this entire time?"
He couldn't help but chuckle as he trailed kisses down your neck and across your chest.
"You're so precious like this. I think I like this side of you, Doll."
Tumblr media
Diluc was so awkward at first. He wasn't used to a personality like yours.
He would get so flustered when you would flirt with him in public. He didn't know how to handle it.
It wasn't until a few months of dating that Diluc started to loosen up. He started matching your flirty energy more often.
So when the two of you ended up glued together on the couch, and he saw how shy you became?
It was his time to shine.
No more flustered Diluc unable to keep up with you.
"Come on, show me that pretty face of yours."
He teased you a few times until you were practically stuttering; you were so embarrassed.
"I just can't help myself, all those times you flirted with me in public, knowing it embarrassed me."
After that night he had such a confidence boost. He never got flustered again by your flirty comments.
Tumblr media
Chef kiss, i love Zhongli and Alhaitham so much, they are ultimate daddies. Someone needs to request a daddy kink next time my requests are open, I'll do it, no shame

a match made in math class ┊struggling with math — as always, but have no fear, alhaitham is here! ┊short fluff drabble ( ꈍᴗꈍ) i literally wrote the plot in the train cause it popped up
– 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 𝅓 𝅒 –
you were at your wit's end in your advanced math class, struggling to keep up with the material. you knew that alhaitham, a natural genius who always seemed to breeze through equations and formulas, was in the same class, but you never thought to ask him for help. after all, the two of you had a long history of arguing and bickering over the smallest details.
but one day, you couldn't take it anymore. you approached alhaitham after class, feeling a bit dumbfounded that you were asking for his help. you could tell that he was taken aback as well, his usually stoic expression betraying a hint of surprise.
"um, hey alhaitham," you said tentatively. "i was wondering if you could help me with some of the material in class? i'm really struggling."
alhaitham blinked a few times, clearly taken aback by your request. but after a moment, he nodded. "sure, i can help you out," he said, a small flicker of a smile crossing his face.
over the next few weeks, alhaitham tutored you patiently, guiding you through problem sets and explaining concepts in a way that made sense to you. you were surprised at how much you enjoyed studying with him, despite your previous disagreements. and gradually, you found yourself not just catching up to the rest of the class, but actually excelling.
as the semester wore on, you and alhaitham began to see each other in a new light. you realized that beneath his usually serious demeanor, he was actually quite kind and patient. and alhaitham saw that beneath your competitive exterior, you had a deep passion for learning.
one day, as you were studying together, you caught alhaitham looking at you with an expression you couldn't quite place. "what?" you asked, feeling a bit self-conscious under his gaze.
alhaitham shook his head, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "nothing, it's just...i never thought we'd be studying together like this," he said. "it's kind of nice, you know?"
you couldn't help but smile at his words, feeling a sense of warmth spread through you. "yeah, it is," you agreed.
"you're my favorite study buddy," you blurted out, surprising even yourself with the words. you're not sure what possessed you to say that, but you did. maybe it was because you actually felt that way deep down.
alhaitham, of course, looked a bit taken aback, but a small smile played at the corners of his lips. "not because i'm the only one you have, i hope," he said, teasingly.
you shook your head, feeling a rush of warmth spread through your chest. "no, not at all. you're just my favorite person to be with."
alhaitham's expression softened at your words. "my favorite part of the day is seeing your face," he replied, his voice quiet and sincere.
from that moment on, you and alhaitham continued to help each other out, studying together and encouraging one another to push harder. and as the semester came to a close, you both realized that you had grown not only as students, but as friends.
as you walked out of your final exam, alhaitham turned to you with a small smile. "we did it," he said, and you nodded in return.
"let's keep working together like this," he said, his voice filled with warmth. "who knows what we'll be able to achieve."
you nodded in agreement, feeling a newfound sense of closeness between the two of you. math class may have been a struggle, but it also brought an unexpected friendship and support, maybe even more.

𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒 — 𝐀𝐋𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐌
Tumblr media
SUMMARY. being alhaitham does make locals of sumeru question your sanity but the second you feel his touch, you no longer worry about anything but him.
CHARACTER(S). alhaitham
PRONOUNS. she/her (does say 'lady')
TW/CONTEXT. use of pet names (dear, princess), small bit of sensual activities
AUTHOR NOTE. so a lot of things have happened, the new chainsaw man trailer is out and aki looks handsome as always. the genshin livestream, where so much more lore was gifted and i am excited for alhaitham and cyno's fight and the jujutsu kaisen season two visual where the SSS trio look amazing as well (suguru the love of my life looks handsome as always). also i know the ending is bad so please don’t comment on that…ʕ; •`ᴥ•´ʔ
Tumblr media
If you were to ask someone about Alhaitham, they would look at you perplexed before giving you a harsh critique of the man.
“Alhaitham is a genius, don’t get me wrong, but he’s too robotics…”
“Be careful of Alhaitham, he is a very rational person. However, he’s not a good person to be friends with!”
“Alhaitham…I hate people who think they are better than others, just because they are part of the Akademiya.”
However, if you were to ask the residents of Sumeru about the lady who seemed to be alway by his side (more like he was by hers), there would be a sudden turn of opinions.
“Miss Y/N is a wonderful person, even though she is so busy being the manager at Puspa Cafe, she still helps alot of the students with their work!”
“The manager is a one of a kind, so patient with the elderly and quite welcoming with travelers, definitely has the hearts of the Sumeru people.”
“Y/N is a very smart person, so I don’t know why she disappeared from the Akademiya, but the fact that she is with Alhaitham is…weird…”
Tumblr media
“I don’t think working at the cafe is efficient for you, dear.”
Looking up from his papers, Alhiatham’s eyes steadily met yours before he tiredly leaned back on the wooden chair while letting out a prolonged sigh, as if he was holding in his breath for quite some time. From what you could recall, your acting manager was quite desperate to call you for help due to the sudden high workload leading you to ask one of the students to relay a message to Alhaitham that you weren’t able to see him today…only to suddenly find him seated in the corner of the cafe once the busy hours had come to a slowdown.
“It’s fine, I was…worried when I heard you couldn’t come,” Alhaitham confessed before you pull a chair to sit next to him.
Softly smiling, you could help but coo over your lover’s worries over you before looking down at the papers that were displayed in a disordered fashion. Writings upon writings on linguistics and translations of different pieces of literature brought some memories of the time when you were at the Akademiya...but that was a story for another time. “Do you want some coffee, it seems you have been here for a while,” you asked before raising your hand to gently caress his cheek with the back of your fingers - letting a pinkish hue rise upon his cheeks if you looked closely enough.
Physical affection with Alhaitham was something that was somewhat evident in your relationship, the people of Sumeru can confirm that due to the amount of time they have seen you both out together. Yet if you had a proper conversation with your lover about this topic, you both would agree that you both weren’t the affectionate type.
Taking your hand in his, Alhaitham lightly placed a kiss on your inner palm before lingering a bit longer than needed - maybe it was because of the longer time you both were separated today, you weren’t so sure?
“I’m fine, it seems like you were quite busy…I don’t want you to tire yourself out,” Alhaitham answered before going back to his papers to continue with his project. Nevertheless, when you cast your gaze down, you noticed how his and your hand was still intertwined on the table.
“Well, I’m going to make you one anyways and I might as well bring some baklava for the both of us,” you suggested before getting up from your seat while noticing how Alhaitham’s grip tightened. Even though he didn’t say anything, you had the knowledge that he didn’t want you to go, but he needed to be taken care of after waiting for you for a few hours.
“I’ll be back in 10 minutes max, I promise I won’t be long,” you reassured the scribe before beginning to depart to prepare the snack you had planned...Yet even when you were walking away, you still couldn’t help but want to relish on his touch just a little longer. Even as you were going away, your intertwined hands were still gently held on to each other, telling each other that it wasn't time to let go yet...maybe just a little longer. However, distance had to become your enemy as it was too great for your arms to reach, leaving your hands to gradually disconnect from one another, leaving you both to miss the affection already.
Tumblr media
The Akademiya. If you could avoid it, you simply would. However, with your history with the prestigious institute, there was simply no way you could steer clear of it anytime soon - especially when you were friends with the famous Lisa Minci, who also graduated with you in advanced studies.
Still, when Alhaitham invited you to keep him company or to help him with something…you never refused. Even if it meant you both were going to sit in silence while he worked and you read, you still accepted his offer to go to the Akademiya to keep him company.
Students will confess to you that they were surprised to see you at the institution, but they would be more confused about how Alhaitham would be there with you since they're used to seeing him work alone. Although, within the same conversation, the female students in the cafe would gush how adorable you both were (a rare compliment for the Akademiya lunatic) since they would always notice how you both hold hands on the table, making them wish they had a school romance - something you actually never really realised.
At this moment in time, you were seated opposite to your lover while looking over the books and files he had laid out for you both to study since he was having “difficulty” understanding something and needed you to guide him to the conclusion. What a liar.
Yet without hesitation, you began to notice how Alhaitham’s arm was suddenly stretched out on the table, relaxing next to yours before his index finger steadily began to ghostly trace the shape of your fingers as if he was teasing or conveying a message that only you would understand. Deciding to ignore this, you continued to scan through the papers only to pause again, once you felt something tenderly taking a hold of your fingers, only to peer up again to find the ‘lunatic’ scribe acting like he wasn’t doing something that would make you embarrassingly tremble at if you weren't seated.
“Are you testing me?” he questioned with a raised eyebrow while putting away the book he was analysing to obtain another one.
“I don’t think I could call this testing…more of…making you want more?” you replied in a questionable tone, before grabbing another sheet of paper to study.
“Oh?”
Tumblr media
“Thank you for the flowers, you really didn’t need to,” you smiled at the handsome scribe before holding the bouquet of Sumeru roses closer to your chest, as if you were embracing the joy and fondness you were feeling from Alhaitham’s gift. Even though, Alhaitham didn’t know why you were so cheerful by the gift he had presented, he couldn’t help but get you one every time he had a stop at Port Ormos leaving the vendor to be confused since they never really understood why the rational man would spend so much on different flowers every week. One week would be the commonly known Sumeru roses and the next it would be Liyue’s speciality of Qingxins - never caring about the price.
People at Port Omros were suddenly starting to notice the admirable interaction, as they were also bewildered by how the robotic man of the Akademiya was affectionately smiling down at the charming Puspa Cafe manager. Those your relationship was well known across Sumeru, it was still a surprise to see the couple in reality making you and Alhaitham become aware of the gazes and stares that were directed toward you both.
“Let’s go,” Alhaitham stated before placing his hand upon your lower back to guide you somewhere more private, where you would be more comfortable.
However, the eyes that were upon you didn't seem to matter anymore. The feeling of sudden warmth that Alhaitham's hand brought made you forget the displeasure that you were feeling just a few seconds ago. Yet, even when you knew this was something natural he was going...there was a small part of you that thought he knew the effect of his touch had on you.
“Are you teasing me?” you asked curiously causing the scribe to pause his stride before turning his head to look at you.
“Really? Is that what you think I’m doing after giving you flowers?” Alhaitham responded before his hand began to slowly travel upwards on your back, gently tracing the shape of your spine causing a spark of electo to ignite within you as you tense at his sudden action.
“In fact...yes I do,” you answer timidly as you began to pay attention to how his hand was now sensually travelling to the back of your neck, aware of how his thumb was now caressing the side of it, near behind your ear almost making you notice how Alhaitham was now steadily and masterfully making you weak within his arms.
Lowering his head down to your level, Alhaitham couldn’t help but place a lingering kiss upon the apple of your cheek before slowly moving towards the shell of your ear to place another, leaving you to slightly feel his breath. Smirking, Alhaitham noticed how your eyes were now closed, knowing that you were feeling lightheaded from the small pleasure he was gifting you with pride swelling up in his chest.
“If I was really teasing you, wouldn’t I be doing this instead?” he whispered, while pushing your hair aside to place another kiss upon your neck causing you to moan softly as you grabbed hold of the fabric of his shirt for support.
“Don’t drop the flowers princess…”

hey? how are u? i hope ur doin well.... I really love your writing....can u do a little headcanon for me... where y/n and alhaitham watch a horror movie together???
HESYESYEA THIS IS SO CUTE ❤️❤️ this might be a bit short but i added as much as i could think of (i need to stop writing so many alhaitham fics but this man has been on my mind as well 😭)
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Pairing: Alhaitham x GN!reader
Content: fluff, comfort, minor horror scene descriptions, established relationship
Tumblr media
Let’s be honest, there’s no way Alhaitham would be scared by a horror movie. He’d condescendingly point out all the rotoscoping errors, scoff at the cheap jump scares and scrutinise the plot points with the intensity of a movie critic.
While you were shaking beside him, hands clammy with sweat, he’d muse about the feasibility of the scenes.
“Blood splatters mostly away from the point of impact, even in this very far-fetched situation wherein…”
“Haitham…” You didn’t hear a word he said, only clutching onto his arm as the camera showed a shot of a grotesquely mangled body. A particularly vivid close-up of grey-clouded eyes rimmed with mutilated flesh had you recoiling, pressing yourself closer into Alhaitham’s side.
He’d reassure you with more facts, assuming that you’d take comfort in logic and reasoning as he did. Secretly enjoying your form pressed closely to his, Alhaitham would criticise the verisimilitude of the movie with a greater fervour in an attempt to calm you down. He couldn’t understand why you feared something that wasn’t real, although he reasoned that you could be more susceptible to biological cues. The tense music was potentially a large contributing factor, Alhaitham decided.
He’d run soothing circles over the back of your hands, murmuring what he thought were words of reassurance as you buried your face into his neck at a particularly tense scene. If you were the one who picked the movie, expect to be teased a little - Alhaitham wouldn’t be able to resist prodding at your frightened demeanour with an amused grin.
Normally, Alhaitham rejected physical touch. But how could he say no, when you were so scared? He’d let you stay in his arms for a while, seeking comfort in his broad shoulders and familiar heat. If you had your face resting near his chest, you’d feel the low vibrations of his chuckles each time you jumped at a scene change.
Whilst your heart would beat in an absolutely unhinged terror, his heart would thrum with love, briefly stopping his movie critiquing to admire your wide-eyed expression. If you seemed like you couldn’t handle it, he’d offer to turn the movie off (or leave the cinema, if you were in one) - Alhaitham was never the kind of person to keep you somewhere against your will. Once he was done with the subtle teasing, his attention would be turned to making sure you were comfortable. Even if he was terrible at that sort of thing, you found his failed attempts at reassurance to be quite endearing.
Watching a horror movie with Alhaitham was probably both the best and worst date idea, but he wasn’t going to complain - there wasn’t much more to ask for when you were nestled against him, so close that he could hear your synced heart palpitations.

no but imagine arguing with alhaitham over a translation about one of the many dead languages you are researching and the heated debate eventually leads to a make-out session somewhere in the library 👀

"Dearest...I think that's enough"
"No its not"
And there goes another few rounds where you smother your boyfriends face with tons of kisses. He brought you many lipsticks and lip gloss, so it is only right you try to see the shade that matches, right? the shade, which makes his face feel even more ethereal. The only correct way to let people know that you're his and he's yours.
"Hmm... I think this shade suits your face better!" You moved the ones which made his face look more delightful. Shades of pink, red, coral, and all.
He did say that the number of kisses you gave him till then were enough, but deep down, he craved more. The way your soft lips felt against his skin left him breathless. The way areas where your lips left left a tingling and burning sensation, which, rather than being unpleasant, was more exciting
What was even more addicting was the way you would gently cup his face with your hands and attack his face ferverently. This was best for both of you. You get to have the ego boost after smothering or rather painting his face with your kisses, and he gets access to your unlimited display of affection.
"There! Now that's more like it you look like my lover now" putting emphasis on the word, you were grinning from ear to ear while admiring your masterpiece. When you tried to get up from his lap though...
"Now now dearest I think it is my turn to get what I have been seeking"
