i mostly just have TF2 trivia, as its history has always been something ive always been fascinated with, so i hope these suffice:

The Pyro's Beta Head: While 8 of the 9 classes had their heads redone throughout development (to better show off Valve's new facial flex system), only the Pyro was left untouched, leaving them as the only class to still have their beta head.

Reference Posing Medics: In "Trailer 2", there are two Medics who are in their reference pose, during the first-person sequence of the Scout running through RED's base. While their role isn't clear, one likely theory is that they were meant to be camera positions for shots that were ultimately removed, in favour of the Scouts perspective, and Valve just forgot to remove or hide them. The second Medic even turns to look at the Scout as he runs by, maybe further proving their original purpose.

The Teaser Corkboard: While we don't have a clear idea as to what Valve had been planning with the "Teaser Corkboard", one likely theory is that it was created for the proposed update that would've included both Asteroid and Cactus Canyon, due to the few mentions of "Future", the blueprint of the rocket engine from Half Life 2 Episode 2, and Poopy Joe. Also worth noting, the two posters that were added with the corkboard share similar styles Asteroid and Cactus Canyon.

The Balls of Steel Taunt: Originally, The Love & War update was meant to include a lot more taunts than what ultimately shipped. One of the few to get scrapped is a taunt called "Balls of Steel", where the initiator would dare other players to kick them in the groin. While we don't have footage of this taunt, we do have voiceline files that reference the taunt's intention, as well as the name. The few files that remain were reused for other contexts, such as the Soldiers Conga taunt, where his "Ooh!" and "Ahh!" lines were originally his pain sounds for the taunt.

With the end of the Fontaine Archon quest, @yoroiis and I have decided it's time to do a little updating with info regarding our muses during it. This post is Kagota's side of her and Childe's time in Fontaine, and is canon to both my blog and @yoroiis. Spoilers for 4.0 through the end of 4.2 follow from here.

During much of the few months Kagota is in Fontaine prior to the Traveler's arrival, she's pregnant with their firstborn children, and dealing with the fact Childe isn't himself during a lot of their 'vacation', off and on snapping at her and trying to push her away like he would an enemy. She isn't sleeping and having dreams bordering on nightmares of Childe being a human-sized wind-up toy slumped on the ground, needing to be wound to function, but she can't wind him - she's too busy fighting off darkness trying to surround them, armed with thorn-covered vines trying to strangle them both. If she stops, they both die, but he's unable to function if she doesn't.

Eventually, a fight between them prompts Childe to confide in her something isn't right and that something feels like it's calling him, and he hasn't been able to use his vision properly. Trusting Kagota to be able to help him and fend off his mood swings, both towards her and others in their life, he gives her his vision for safekeeping, and she proceeds to wear it beside her own. Before this, she's gained a promotion to Operative and a delusion of her own, and as his right hand and wife, is tasked with keeping an eye on him.

Their daughters, Sofia Alyssa and Anastasia, are born not long after, and it's clear to her 'Childe' isn't the one there with her, but someone - something - else is. As weak as she is in the moment, she can't fight back to it prodding at her and bringing up her past, and more distance is created between them, putting a strain on the soulmate bond they share - Effectively cracking what was once a solid bond in their shared soul.

Because of their children, Kagota is unable to join him the day he meets the Traveler, and is not present for his trial. In fact, she is unaware he's even on trial and been found guilty until Kyros and the Traveler come to tell her personally, and Kagota does what she knows best - She fills in for Tartaglia in the meantime, hiding the fact her dreams have truly become nightmares alongside his being jailed. She's unaware the presence that's been 'calling' him and the attitude he's been fighting against her with are one in the same - The 'whale' coming to Fontaine.

Exhausted and drained of her strength, she is unable to cover for Childe's situation, especially when word leaks he's gone missing. Another visit from the Traveler to tell her of their next move has her giving them his vision under the promise they find him and bring it back, and while they're in Meropide, she's alerted to the fact the three kids she's grown close to - Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet - are also 'jailed'. Furious by everything going on and her inability to do more, she demands a meeting with Wriothesley as Tartaglia, and is denied due to his knowing the now missing Childe is Tartaglia.

Kagota realizes she's losing control of her own abyssal abilities and has been fighting against them, a well as discovering she's been feeling the same mood swings as Childe, which has had a heavy hand in her restlessness and inability to keep focused. It also becomes increasingly more clear to her she's not the only one tapping into their shared strength, and after a nightmare of him fighting in Foul Legacy form, she decides something's gone wrong, and the fact she can't leave to help him upsets her further - But does make her further realize the bond in their soul is also on its last leg just like her, and that she's been subconsciously fighting whatever has been causing the break.

After Poisson floods, Kagota, in her fear of something happening to them, sends Kyros back to Snezhnaya with the twins. She's visited again by the Traveler and has Childe's vision returned to her, ad well as an explanation he's fighting something big, and she immediately understands, having been able to sense as much herself. After promising them her support and their departure, an abyssal rift opens in her home, and she enters it with encouragement from her power - Heraldic Tempest - to meet Skirk.

On being reassured Skirk is Childe's teacher, Kagota agrees to hear her out, and is informed he's fighting the All-Devouring Narwhal - something Skirk assumes she's already been aware of, as she's known of Kagota's existence as he other half since meeting him when he was 14. She doesn't elaborate, no matter how much Kagota tries to get more information, but does help her regain control of herself and her power, and shows her a means to further harnessing Tempest's power, informing her of just what Tempest is: An abyssal power that piggybacked on the one clinging to Childe until it moved to her, and proceeded to become a part of her. Tempest and Kagota are one being by that point, unlike Childe, who had been ignoring his own abyssal power in favor of his own strength. She is also told the nightmares she's been having have been her fighting against the Narwhal and its call, trying to keep it from controlling Childe and preventing it from breaking them apart at soul-level.

Kagota spends a full day with Skirk, and returns to Fontaine to find several have passed since she left. Ordered to go to the courthouse by Skirk before parting, she arrives in time for Furina's trial, and spends most of it up near the doorways, tucked behind a pillar to listen. She tunes out much of it, but is there for the Narwhal's appearance, and, harnessing her new power and form, puts herself between it and the people it's poised to attack - Just to be unneeded by Childe's appearance and stopping it. They barely get a glance to one another before he falls into the abyssal rift after the Narwhal, and she's quick to jump in after him, joining the fight until Skirk, Neuvillette, and the Traveler join in.

She's still in Tempest form when the fighting is done, and unlike her thrown husband, Kagota walks through the opened rift on her own.

Kagota is currently in Snezhnaya with her husband, Childe, and their family, recovering from her use of Heraldic Tempest's power while taking care of him and their daughters and adopted children. She's returned his vision to him, and is now fully aware of just what had gone on in full.

Resurrection: Verse (of import and details)

For those interested, the background/explanation for this verse can be found in this post. But I just want to clarify a couple of things for those who are interested in Guizhong in this verse, as to avoid any misunderstandings and/or confusions due to me not clarifying.

Quick sum-up: She reformed from a gathering of dust particles from all over Teyvat on the cliffside overlooking Liyue Harbor (by the lone glaze lily), though primarily from the dust cloud above Cuijue Slope, during the full moon of Lantern Rite.

She is not an active participant in Liyue's present 'rule', this is not a verse where she replaces 'Rex Lapis' after his retirement by any means at all.

No one would actively recognise her as Guizhong and/or Haagentus, especially not by appearance, as that was never registered anywhere. Adepti absolutely would, of course, but there is next to nil chance that mortals would know her.

However, she would likely be prone to tripping up initially and divulging more information than she should. It's very important to remember that back in the Guili Assembly days, it was not uncommon whatsoever for the people to know and have seen the gods that ruled over them. The tales are not merely tales, people in those days would have seen Azhdaha, they would have seen Cloud Retainer in bird form, heard Moon Carver speak in his deer form, they would have seen Morax with his horns and possibly seen the shadow of his dragon form if not more (it would also explain how his Exuvia form did/does not frighten anyone; it was something he could have continued doing from olden days). She is from those times, and not only that, Guizhong was noted to eventually have lived amidst the mortals more commonly, and involved the rest of the assembly into humanity as much as she was able to. So while there is no 'blank spot' in her memory and knows that this is a different time, old habits die very hard for those who held them for hundreds and also thousands of years. She would however, not trip up about Rex Lapis/Zhongli.

She would continue to go by the name Guizhong (though just like in the past, many adepti would likely still address her as 'Haagentus', her name as a god), even after she becomes accustomed to the change of time and life. If people were to somehow, remember the name; she'd likely comment little, or remark on having been given the name and is only remotely aware of its potential origins as the name of one of Liyue's founders. Which technically isn't a lie, for it is a headcanon of mine that it is likely the name given to her by the mortals back in the days of old, similar to 'Rex Lapis'.

Just as she did in the past and even more so now, as she's been 'out of rotation' for a while, she will gravitate towards being in Liyue Harbor, but also the other towns, she will also regularly be found on the beaches of the Guili Plains. There is a very high chance you can simply come across her wandering; remember, she is incredibly curious by nature.

Having been raised in Bevelle and having a father that worked for the temples, Anna believed in Yevons teachings. Though she was not definitely not what people would call a staunch believer in the teachings. She’s objective with how far her belief in Yevon goes, recognising the more questionable sides to the religion. Yet she’s not terribly open with how vocal she is about the religion’s downsides, not wishing to be branted a heretic, a traitor, or wishing to see her father's reputation ruined. I'd say she's somewhat similar to how Lulu is in her view of the religion, she's a little more lenient towards machina than maybe she should be, but does hold some prejudices towards the Al Bhed (though she starts to let go of this prejudices after the discrimination she faces from the Guado).

Post X/X-2, her faith in Yevon is shaken. Her inevitable knowledge of the Final Aeon, finding out the corrupt side of the church, their treatment of the Al Bhed, and Seymour's actions, all shake it to the point where she toes the line between casting off the faith completely or not at all. It had been some source of comfort throughout her life, drew the community together in Bevelle, and she saw the good sides of it. She wouldn't go as far as to say her interest in Yevon as a religion is totally gone, after the events of X-2, she believes in Baralai's vision of New Yevon and what it could represent. She wishes they could be more transparent with their goings on, their secrets, sharing them with the people of Spira. She wants to see them make a positive impact on Spira, to help unite them, to think critically about what the teachings say, not fall back onto the way things were and preaching hate and intolerance. Again, she would not consider herself a staunch Yevonite, the very thought of it makes her balk. To even call herself a Yevonite would be a stretch. Maybe the above description places her more in-line with the Youth League ideals, but she doesn't want to see the temples or Yevon scrapped entirely. Just reformed into something better.

Mei Fan Headcanon: Fate of the other Edels

Not all of the attempted fusions between God and vessel were successful. It was something that was, coldly enough, predictable from the very beginning.

Shiori Ymeoji 's body was simple too frail to survive the process. The shy, but ambitious girl who had reminded Mei Fan so much of her little sister could not take the strain of the summoning process. It failed before it had even truly begun.

Michiru Otori, the deceptively fierce stage girl who had stopped at nothing to ensure Akira's success, fought too much. Though many of the mages assumed the fusion would have been successful if she did not, she refused to be part of it. She survived, though where she resides now after the traumatic experience is unknown.

Yachiyo's fusion with the Nature Goddess was successful, but Mei Fan remains unaware of her current whereabouts. She can only guess she serves the mage which forced her into this position.

Finally, Akira - the actor that Mei Fan had admired so much, the very inspiration for joining Siegfield to begin with; did not survive being used as vessel. Her soul, despite all appearances and expectations, was far too different with that of the Cesistal Goddess- the most powerful out of the five.

Mei Fan's summoning ritual was just before that of Akira's, as the second most promising fusion to be successful. As she escaped shortly after her fusion, she remains completely unaware of Akira's death.

( ooc ) #( i looked at aisling's page on a whim and..........remembered time period things weren't connecting fxgffhxgdhxg #so i changed some stuff a little and added some info; including when she died in her main verses #then i looked at asks; remembered vane #looked at aisling's gbf verse; remembered the whole fate eps with hal!vane are to help this lil well ghost......... #it's a very cute story; reccommended read for everyone #but it makes me think vane would maybe get attached to / instantly big brotherly with aisling quickly #not that she's a young kid; but probably getting her struggles and wanting to help her out as much as possible #i feel like he'd end up prying too much into her past to try and find a solution for moving on for her #and eventually fixes the rift between them caused by that prying by just trying to give her the best life she never had #because he's that caring and loving of a guy...........i love this man your honor #that said; i feel like vane would remind her of antonio in that kind of caring willingness and need to help out people #though antonio is not a himbo in my mind; he's a very smart boy that can't be easily tricked and can read the room well #in my mind aisling is as still old undead-wise as she is in her main verses though which makes me wonder what she's #like been alive for gbf-wise??? since she's 188 y/o fdggjfhjghf )
