Wait wait wait. Jensen picked the writer who gave Dean a lesbian best friend and made him a nerd to be the show runner for his little fixit fic show? This is amazing!
when you look at robbie's run of episodes (that he wrote specifically, not produced or was the executive story editor on), a very specific version of supernatural and dean starts to emerge and it is insanity-inducing. here's a very brief rundown of the episodes robbie wrote:
slash fiction -swayze always gets a pass -dean singing air supply -"it's like eating self-righteousness' -the creation and introduction of frank devereaux -"applications for sainthood" -dean letting sam go
time after time -"what are you gonna look up more anime or are you strictly into dick now?" -dean being a nerdy little fanboy about eliott ness (and checking out a dude in a uniform but that was probably jacting joices) -dean getting excited about dressing up in period clothing!! -understanding that rufus matters and that family isn't just blood -original sam is milf!bait (and he's into it) truther -actually writing grief in nuanced ways -dean is smart and resourceful actually! -your future is "covered in thick black ooze" (which i know is just a very lucky coincidence but i don't care!)
the girl with the dungeons and dragons tattoo -CHARLIE!!! he gave us charlie. he said "actually what if hardcore fans were cool and fun and GAY and they were dean's new best friend" -charlie/dean/security guard flirting split screen -"she's kinda like the little sister I never wanted." "how does a high-school dropout become one of the brightest minds…" -basically this entire episode is just "be gay, do crime" and i love that for me specifically
bitten -not my favorite episode but as @ilarual says "it's very fun in how it illustrates Robbie's willingness to play with form, since it's all done as found footage" -and as @doctorprofessorsong says it "has the concept of monsters aren’t always bad guys" -and apparently it contains a brokeback reference? my memory of this episode is hovering at around 1% tbh but you get it
larp and the real girl -dressing dean up in little outfits AGAIN -and he likes it!!! -and he likes being a nerd! (dean is getting into it and sam is the one who is unamused mr serious guy!!!!) -and charlie is dean's new best friend! -"belladonna" "the pornstar?" -"did you break up with someone too?" -honestly you already know all of it. this is a fan favorite for a reason. what more can i say about this episode??
goodbye stranger -yes robbie was the first writer to try to give us a destiel love confession -cas practicing killing dean over and over and over and still not being able to do it when it comes down to it -"what broke the connection?" gee i wonder -first episode writing cas and he nailed the sort of unintentional deadpan humor that makes cas so lovable ("would it kill you to watch a movie? read a book?" "a movie, no, but with a book with the proper spells—yeah, it could theoretically kill me.") -"if he's so sketchy then why are you praying to him?" -pizza man reference -"do you really think we can trust megstiel?" (we get both megstiel and jealous!dean) -dean quoting lord of the rings (because he's a nerd! and he reads!) -meg roasting the shit out of sam for the amelia stuff -etc
pac-man fever -charlie reading the carver edlund books -charlie and dean being besties/getting a montage -dean telling charlie that what happened with her parents wasn't her fault/understanding the guilt she feels -"i love you" "i know" -"what about castiel? he seems helpful, and dreamy" -again, putting dean in little outfits -charlie knows how to shoot/aim a gun
slumber party -dorothy!! -oz!!! -look, is this episode cheesy? yes. but it's fun and it's so obviously a love letter to the oz source material and i love that about robbie. he does his research and he commits
first born -cain!!!! -drowley team up!!!!! ("friends. besties, actually." im sorry but drowley means so much to me personally and this is the start of their beautiful bromance) -"this is by far the dumbest idea you've ever had." "yeah, well, it's early" -cas liked pb&js!! jelly, not jam. he found jam unsettling!! -"you have a guinea pig? where?" -"you're a terrible liar?" "that is not true. i once deceived and betrayed both you and your brother." -just. sastiel shenanigans (and hugs!) -"she only asked for one thing." "to stop" -anyway. you get it.
meta fiction -dean and cas phone call smiles!! they LIKE each other -metatron media dump -"what makes a story work? is it the plot, the characters, the text? the subtext? and who gives a story meaning? is the writer? or you?" -i think it's important to note that robbie who wrote gabriel faking his own death -cas noticing something is wrong with dean pretty much instantly and then discovering the mark of cain
fan fiction -i mean. come on. -"although we do explore the nature of destiel in act two." -"you can't spell subtext without s-e-x" -sam being such a younger brother and trolling dean about "destiel" -"BM scene" -dean "you know they're brothers, right?"-ing the w*ncest stuff but just being flustered about the destiel stuff ayyyy -dean casually referencing andrew lloyd webber -"transformative fiction" -"i want you to put as much sub into that text as you possibly can" -dean quoting rent -the samulet is back! -"i have my version, and you have yours." -"he took away our own free will" <- about john!! -THE RETURN OF CHUCK!
there's no place like home -"i forgive you dean" "yeah well i don't" "i know, kinda your move" -"you hurt my friend" -"you lied to me" "you lied to yourself. that's kinda your move." -i mean. robbie just gets it, ya know?
book of the damned -cas being a huge bitch (love that) -sam being the excessively codependent one -cas and charlie get to meet! -found family goodness if only for a little bit!!
angel heart -ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! -"i got it at the hot topical" (and claire keeping grumpy cat) -no seriously. dean and cas went birthday present shopping together for claire and they did it at a mall -castiel feeling guilt for what he did to the novak family (and amelia recognizing that cas has changed/grown) -"you were both troubled teens. you speak her language." -"bring your daughter to work day" -"i'm saying she might be stronger on her own." which is a controversial line but i think it says something really significant about how dean feels about his childhood "in fact you're not anything to her except a constant reminder of someone that's gone." -mini golf!!!!!! dean and claire bonding!!!! -the introduction of the grigori, a class of angels which may or may not be important at some point -claire roasting the shit out of dean with "you seem pretty old" <3 -"happy birthday. don't shoot me."
baby -do i really need to explain anything about this one? -"okay first of all, never use swayze's name in vain, okay? ever." -"mistakes were made" -dean having a dream about john teaching him to drive but under normal and appropriate circumstances -werepire…. ghoulpyre… -honestly just the whole episde. you know what i'm talking about. the unique perspective. the insight into their day-to-day lives. the moments that live in between.
into the mystic -eileen! my best friend eileen! -dean x mildred otp -remembering sam's lucifer/hell trauma -the whole "follow your heart" speech -"banshees go after the vulnerable, so why'd it go after you?" -dean recognizing there's something off with cas -but really the most important thing here is EILEEN
safe house -bobby and rufus!!!! -i repeat BOBBY AND RUFUS!!!! -"were you ever nice?" "1985. worst year of my life." -robbie just really GETS that this show is more fun when it's not centered entirely on the brothers. -bobby referring to sam and dean as his boys -timey wimey shenanigans -there were some interesting implications in this episode too but i'm losing steam here so i'm gonna let you rewatch and figure it out lol
don't call me shurley -the reveal of chuck as god!!!! -bisexual chuck -dean does sam's laundry (sometimes with beer) -chuck is a shitty egotistical writer -he also plays the guitar and: "i like front row seats. you know, i figured i'd hide out in plain sight." -"i thought if i could show my sister that there was something more than just us, something better than us, then maybe she'd change. maybe she'd stop being… her. but every time I'd build a new world, she'd destroy it." -"the world would still be spinning with demon dean in it but sam couldn't have that though could he?" -"you were gonna choose amara over me."
so. yeah. jensen chose THIS GUY to helm the winchesters. bold move, sir. full respect.
also, this tweet always makes me crack up

Why I consider Miguel replacing his own self so bad?
Tumblr media
Originally this was going to be a response to a post someone else did, but then I feel I was being mean to people just enjoying a character, so I repurposed it. Is funny because before that post I wasn't planning on doing this but that one got the words out of me somehow.
As disclaimer; I don't think there is anything wrong with liking Miguel, or any character of this movie. It doesn't matter what Miguel may or may not had done in this movie, or if your headcanons and ideas align with how he is in canon or not.
I also feel that regardless of what I think it went down in this situation, I can't call Miguel evil; I would have some words about what I think later in this post, but I don't think when he did what he did he was doing it because ~evil~
With all that out of the way, let's start with this:
The way he talks about the ordeal makes me uneasy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know why I find this unsettling? That this is about himself.
I understand that Miguel is narrating this story from his perspective, and is about his mistake, so by that, you wouldn't need to bring up anyone else. You can even make the argument it may be too painful for him if you want.
So why I still have a problem?
Because the narration isn't the only problem I have with this, in fact, what I find the most disturbing, is the following part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is my thing...Don't you find odd how quickly he found out about this?
Think about it; it would be weird that he was just looking on the Multiverse, saw a version of himself with a nice, happy family, and just at that moment that person got killed, so he step in.
I had seen someone made the argument that he did what did because he was thinking of Gabby, however, nothing on his demeanour or words makes me think this was about anyone that wasn't himself.
Let's go back to those pics.
Want to know why I posted two that are basically the same? Because what's important is Miguel's face.
He is completely stoic.
We see Miguel seeing the body at the same time the mugger is running away, this makes me believe it was implied he watched at least the guy get away. But when Miguel appears on the screen, it is already watching the image, it doesn't make me think he just popped up the screen and saw it play at the moment he got killed.
Much less because he looks so calm, like he was expecting this to happen.
I don't know how much Miguel can see in future events, I believe there is some capacity because he said to Miles that his dad will die in two days. That may be because is when he becomes a Captain and his words are more speculation than actual confirmation. It could also be that at that moment he didn't have the means to look into it.
But all this footage makes me believe he saw his other self try to do the right thing, get killed, and then came in.
This wasn't about preserving the canon, this is in theory, before he knew how "canon works" (because he affirms the universe collapsed because he try to take the place of someone who was suppose to die. At least that was the impression it gave me.) So is not like there was any reason to not step in and help him.
This is going into speculation territory, so feel free to say this is a reach, but...was there really no way to save the other Miguel?
It gave me the impression the guy used just one bullet, unless is in specific places, normally one bullet wouldn't be enough. More important, Miguel is from the future, his world can make travel to the moon as if it is just going on the highway; are you telling me that if Miguel wanted to help to save this guy's life, was there really nothing he could?
Like sure, he doesn't need to, this isn't this problem and not his story, he shouldn't interfere.
Except that he did, to replace him.
And that's why I consider his initial speech so disturbing.
Tumblr media
Let me put all together what Miguel said:
"I found a world where I had a family. Where I was happy. And that version of myself was killed. So I replace him. I thought it was harmless."
This entire discourse is about himself, with no real thought put into how Gabby, or anyone else may feel. Miguel keeps saying "family," which makes me think it was more than just Gabby, since I don't see why he wouldn't just say daughter if it was only her. That being say I am praying that I am wrong.
My heart really breaks for the other Miguel, he just wanted to do the right thing, he didn't have any powers or special abilities but he still try to help this lady that he probably didn't even know.
And what he got?
That his family will not mourn him, that none of his love ones would go to his funeral (I doubt there was one.) That the people who loved him can't even begin to deal with the mourning process.
Because Miguel, wanted a family.
I am sorry, but I can't help to feel this was en egoistic action when literally there is no mention of ever thinking of anyone that wasn't him; you can try to argue that the "harmless" part also included every other person who knew that Miguel, since they now don't need to go through the pain of a funeral.
But Miguel wasn't that Miguel, if there is something the multi-verse has shown us, is that different versions of a character don't need to be the same, in fact is not odd to not be.
I mentioned this in the past, but if I feel my boyfriend was acting odd, and then discover that he got replaced by another version of himself, just because this one wanted to have a partner- It makes my blood boil; I would personally feel outraged.
Because it should be my decision, which is removed completely of the equation because someone decided they knew me better than me, so they could take decisions on my behalf.
And if I heard him talk, and realize all he ever mentioned was about him and what he wanted? Oh that's one easy slap to the face minimum.
I don't think Miguel had nefarious intentions by doing this, the problem is that he does the thing he literally does the rest of the movie: Assume his idea is the right call, no think twice about asking anyone's opinion, and then blame it on something else when things start to go south.
(If you want an easy example: Literally blaming Gwen for the fiasco with Miles, as if the guy didn't literally scared Miles off when Peter was THIS close to making him go with him.)
Hope anyone liked it! If you did, please consider either commissioning me or donating to my ko-fi, and if not please reblog!
Have a good night.

Hey there, are you new to the Resident Evil fandom and want to know more about this weird blond guy with the sunglasses? Maybe you only play Dead by Daylight and want to know what his deal is without having to comb through a 20+ game series for his appearances? Are you trying to write a fanfic and can't think of anything for him to say, outside of constantly proclaiming his right to godhood?
Then have I got the resources for you!
(don't trust the fan wikis. They do things like claim that a man with one of the most Irish surnames in the world is Italian, just because his parents have some implied organized crime connections)
Ok now that you're in here I will reveal that the real purpose of this post is to spread the good word of original flavor Wesker, who I think is a really interesting villain with more complexity than people might expect. It doesn't look like Capcom is ever going to remake code veronica, which has a significant portion of his story, and there's a ton of his lore locked in a rail shooter most people never played, so I'm here to help fill in some knowledge gaps.
To start off, here is Wesker's Report 1. This is Wesker himself summing up the first 3 games for you, with glorious footage of the original playstation graphics:
youtube
Don't panic it's actually only 22 minutes long, the rest is an untranslated interview with the game directors.
Bam boom, you know what Wesker was doing from 1998 through 2000. Now let's step back in time a little and talk RE 0, the prequel game that explains how the outbreak that started it all happened in the first place. This is the story of Wesker and his buddy Birkin's past mistakes coming back to haunt them with a zombie-leech army (the past mistake in this case is disposing of your mentor's body improperly):
youtube
Stepping even further back in time we have Wesker's Report 2, which talks about his early years at Umbrella. This was only ever released in Japan, but fans have done a translation and gotten it voice-acted. This video has both the report and a compilation of all Wesker's scenarios in Umbrella Chronicles (the rail shooter this-is-the-story-so-far game):
youtube
It's long because it includes the gameplay footage. If you just want to read the report instead, google project umbrella Wesker's Report 2. You can also find UC's cutscenes separately on youtube. Wesker's scenarios are Beginnings, Rebirth, and Dark Legacy. UC condensed a lot of stuff and made some…odd story changes (especially to RE 3. Poor, poor RE 3), but it also added fun new stuff for Wesker to do, like beating up his creepy masochistic ex-boss. Godspeed, Wesker.
Now rumor has it that we are going to get Ada's campaign added to RE 4 remake eventually, but we don't have it yet, so until then here's their interactions from the original (lovingly updated to HD by fans):
youtube
RE 5 was Wesker's last (chronologically) and probably most significant appearance in the series, not to mention the version of him that's been everywhere since, but I'm not actually going to talk about him. To my eyes, RE 5 Wesker is a fun villain in his own right, he just isn't Wesker. He feels like a completely different character to me. If you've watched these videos you might have noticed this already.
RE 5, if you wish to give the writers the benefit of the doubt, is a story of Wesker having a complete mental breakdown after finding out certain retcons truths about his past. He's not usually like that. For one thing, count how many times he mentions being a god in any of this footage. Go on. I'll wait.
Classic flavor Wesker is calm, cold, and calculating. He loves pitting enemies against each other and then running off with the spoils. He does very little grandstanding and he's not all that hammy. He's pragmatic to a fault, and a master at shifting his plans around to work on the fly. He also doesn't give a flying fuck about eugenics, or "saving the world", he's in it for power and money and building better monsters just because he can. There. I said it. I feel better for it.

Okay, so! Few days late to this - as in, nearly a week late - but in all fairness, absolutely NO ONE was posting about this on the Shantae tag, so I feel like I can be excused. Anyway, for those of you who don't know, on April 5th, WayForward actually released about 15+ minutes of gameplay footage for Risky Revolution, which you can watch here!
youtube
Now, we don't really get any story details beyond what we already know, very specifically to avoid big spoilers, but there are a few interesting details I'd like to note (it'll be under a read more for anyone who wants to go into Shantae Advance completely blind)
Firstly, and perhaps most exciting to me, we are in fact getting unique bosses! This is evident by the sign that's read in front of the first dungeon, located in Orc Orchard:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, we don't know ANYTHING about these bosses, other than that they've kidnapped Mimic's fellow Relic Hunters and one of them is named MishMash, but there is a trailer at the end of the video, and there we do get some footage of what I suspect to be some of the bosses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Faaaaaairly certain the pink one is MishMash; the arena matches the dungeon they're in, so...yeah. Blue one is a complete unknown but may I just say they are KILLING it out there. You go you weird little freak
Anyway! Moving on from that little tidbit, some other things to note:
Rotty is actually part of the main group from the start!
Tumblr media
Which is very nice and all for her, but considering that this is all, canonically, the second game in the series...dramatic irony is rearing its head right now, ESPECIALLY with Sky, so I can't help but look at this and go "uh oh."
Also, Rotty is the shopkeeper. And I would like to direct all the Shantops shippers directly to the exact pose Rotty goes into while you look through the shop
Tumblr media
She is down so fucking bad it's unbelievable. My god. Rotty Shantae is busy looking for potions to survive her next fight she's not going to notice you sitting flirtatiously like that especially when you barely know each other at this point. Girl
And for one final note, we've also gotten a look at the Crab form for this game! Which is a completely different design compared to what Half-Genie Hero gave us
Tumblr media
More hermit crab compared to the original. If you consider the scrapped fiddler crab design from Half-Genie Hero this means Shantae has three different crab designs. There is a carcinization joke to be made here I know it

Fic Roundup!
Febuwhump (@febuwhump) is over, and Bad Things Happen Bingo (@badthingshappenbingo) is nearly complete! Here's a quick roundup of how it went...
Your favourite fic:-
This is probably between I Love You / Sole Survivor which got the biggest reaction on Tumblr, and A Fair Price To Pay which had more love on AO3. They're at the opposite ends of the scale in word count (300 vs nearly 10k) but I guess what they have in common is how much you all love Crosshair and want him to be redeemed :)
My favourite fic:-
Despite it being a massive stress which I barely finished on time, posting at five minutes to midnight, I loved writing Adrenaline Crash! My favourite phrase was 'the crepitus of broken bones' and I was really pleased with the ending where I described Omega 'digging her fingers into the cracks in Hunter's armour' - yes, I meant it literally and metaphorically!
The one I want to write more of:-
There's actually a couple of these fics I want to write epilogues for - Presumed Dead and A Fair Price To Pay are the main ones. But I'd also love to do a rewrite of Human Weapon / Worked Themselves To Exhaustion (also known as the Birthday Cake Fic) with more time to develop my version of the Batch living happily on Pabu, and featuring more of the characters for Omega to interact with!
And now for the stats:-
Total Word Count This Month - approximately 40,000 Longest Fic - A Fair Price To Pay, 9675 words Shortest Fic - Left For Dead, 135 words New Followers - 11! (I'm so excited to have you along and I hope you've enjoyed the stories!)
Future Plans?
I'm going to go write those epilogues, and then it's back to my WIP fic Pieces Of The People We Love! If you enjoyed the Cadet Batch stories I've posted for Febuwhump, this is where to find more of it - Part 3 should be coming soon :) I have three more squares to cross off of my Bad Things Happen Bingo square: Kick Them Whilst They Are Down, Self-Surgery and Going Into Hiding. Got an idea you can donate? Drop me a fic request, because in the short-term I have wrung my imagination dry ^^;
Lastly a huge thank you to everyone who has followed, reblogged, commented, and liked my fiction this past month. Re-reading the tags on the reblogs was great when I was feeling unmotivated, and it's so fun to know you've enjoyed reading my stories as much as I've enjoyed telling them! Thank you for all your support! <3
And a quick summary of everything I've written in the past month:-
Bad Batch - Cadet Batch Day 21 - Unresponsive / Asthma Attack Day 25 - Lightning Strike Day 1 - Helpless / Caught in a Snare Day 14 - Blood-Stained Tiles / Ice Pack Day 24 - "I'm doing this because I care about you" / Victim Blaming
Day 26 - "Help Them" / Compelling Voice
The Bad Batch Day 2 - Solitary Confinement / Bruises Day 4 - Obedience / Conditioning Day 7 - Suffering in Silence / Chronic Illness Day 8 - Found Footage Day 16 - "I love you" / Sole Survivor Day 18 - Too Weak To Move / Bundled Up In Blankets Day 23 - Presumed Dead
Day 5 - Rope Burns / Bound & Gagged Day 12 - Semi-Conscious / Over-the-Shoulder Carry Day 19 - Please Don't / Adrenaline Crash

I watched the live action atla series and, looks like a very unpopular opinion in the sea of people whining and complaining about it, but I enjoyed it. I think they did a pretty good job with what they had and their limitations. the actors all did a good job and you can tell they enjoyed what they were doing and have a big respect for the show and their characters.
i'll let you in on the secret if how to enjoying something:
it's not setting high expectations or prejudging things. i'm a master of having low expectations and keeping an open mind so that I can enjoy things in life better. I went into this knowing for a fact that it would not match with the animated series. I knew there was no comparison at all. yes, there were some small bits I thought here and there that they shouldn't have cut out and could have fit if they tried,or things they could have done differently, which is natural to think when watching anything really, but I knew there's no point letting those overshadow the entire thing. if you care so much about little things, go produce your own series and make it perfect!
I went into it thinking of it as it's own thing. I asked myself is this enjoyable if I started watching without having seen the animation? without having the knowledge I do have? turns out it was enjoyable enough on its own. yes, seeing the animation helps fill in some of those gaps they skipped, and I understand why people are upset about things nit being added, but overall, it's a good stand alone if you dont sit and compare and nitpick the whole time.
if you don't go into it thinking "this is going to suck! i'm going to find every flaw! live actions always ruin things I love! I want it to match the animation 1:1! etc" then you'll be able to enjoy it. but if you insist on watching it with that mindset, then of course you will hate it. having an open mind and separating the two like I did makes it more enjoyable! I was pleasantly surprised by it.
I knew this mindset helped, because I did it with another series that had a remake. if you know eureka seven, you'll know that there are a few too many spinoffs. what us fans want is a proper remake and/or a continuation with the characters we know and love. instead we got several movies that retell the story in less appealing ways, the manga that has a few major differences, and a spin off series that's supposed to act as a sequel apparently, but it was kinda awful. because I loved eureka seven so much, I highly judged all these spinoffs and hated them all.
but when hi-evolution came out, I was really in the mood for new eureka seven. the first movie was mostly reused footage from the series. but they added some new stuff. I decided to start watching those as if they are their own stand-alone instead of trying to compare and fit them together. i think these spinoffs are supposed to be different universes that don't compare to the original, and I overly judged them because it's not what I wanted it expected as a kid. I watched hi-evolution with this more open mindset, and guess what? I enjoyed it! I thought it was actually a pretty good stand alone! if I never saw the anime series, I would have enjoyed these movies. I separated them in my mind and enjoyed them as their own thing! this is an extremely unpopular opinion and I haven't seen any eureka seven fans say they liked them. they got the sawn treatment as all the other releases. everyone just wants new content related to the original anime, so that's what they insist of judging by.
back to atla, it may also help that it's been several years since i've seen the animation. BUT it is one i've seen multiple times and have pretty good memory of it, I think, even if it's not so fresh in my mind anymore. I consider myself a pretty big fan as well. it's my second favorite series after fullmetal alchemist. nothing has compared to fullmetal alchemist for me, but atla is pretty damn close. you could say nothing has compared to atla either. solid second place and has never wavered. eureka seven being solidly 3rd. orphan black is 4th.....and I saw something about a new spinoff with all new different characters coming soon...so i'll have to try to apply this same technique to that as well.
conclusion: if you go into something being judgemental, nitpicky, comparing every little thing to something else, and overall having extremely high expectations, of course you're setting it up to fail you. you're basically purposely making yourself dislike it. you decided ahead of time you were going to hate it, so you do. if you have an open mind, low expectations, and let it be it's own thing separate from the original, it may not be your favorite thing ever, but you can at least get some enjoyment or entertainment out of it! appreciate it for what it is, rather than judge it for what it's not. this is for most things in life, not just a series on netflix.

Thought of a fun thought experiment that will either age brilliantly or horribly quite soon.
So, we all know that Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is coming soon, right? Like REALLY soon. Less than 2 months kind of soon.
We still don't really know much about what this remake will change or add except for:
1 new copy ability
new multiplayer mini-games
looming Magolor Castle (that is left unexplained for now) in promotional artwork
I don't mention the visuals because it's the most obvious and expected change coming from the remake of 2011 Wii game.
Tumblr media
So I want to do something fun. I'll list my predictions on what this remake will change and/or add. I will be splitting them into predictions that are likely and predictions that are more on pipe dreams territory. I'll present arguments and/or evidence towards each point as we go. Let's begin!
Things that I think are likely to happen:
Playable Magolor. I mean, come on now. Not only he's now included on the cover, which he wasn't in the original game, he's also one of the most popular characters in the franchise now. Like he's actually probably the most popular addition to the series since Meta Knight and Meta Knight was introduced in 1993. I'm not entirely sure yet how this would work (it partially goes into pipe-dream predictions territory), but I'm certain it will somehow happen. It helps that modern Kirby games on Switch had a tendency to have a late-game unlockable that is super OP and is related to game's storyline in some way. Star Allies had playable Mage Sisters, Forgotten Land had Masked Hammer and Morpho Sword as milestones for beating main story mode and post-game campaign. Magolor only makes the most sense to follow suit.
Dedede, Meta Knight and Bandana Dee will receive their updated movesets from Star Allies. While I wasn't overall a huge fan of how Star Allies treated those three characters, being way less polished than later DLC Dream Friends, one things they got right is by finally giving them more original moves into their arsenal. They basically started out as hammer clone, wing and sword clone hybrid and spear clone respectively, which, I assume, was byproduct of RTDL's co-op being a late addition in the development. Giving each of them more unique moves in SA was a great move and them to carry over into RTDL DX would be excellent choice as well. Not only they would stand out more against contemporary copy abilities they were based on, it presents more fun gameplay possibilities (I'm sleeping and dreaming how much I will spam super dedede jump in various boss fights like grand doomer). But the best of all, we have an evidence of this potentially happening, ladies and gentlemen! In trailer footage we got we can decipher Meta Knight doing Galactic Counter that was introduced in Star Allies.
Tumblr media
If this is anything to go by, all new additions are set in stone and it's just matter of seeing more of it in the final game.
The boldest prediction yet, mainly because it's not based on anything except for my gut feeling. But Magolor Castle will be the hub-world for the post-game in RTDL DX. It makes the most logical sense as it would be a good way to differentiate post-game from the main story where the hub world was Lor Starcutter. What we will do there? Who knows, there's tons of possibilities. It will most likely house mini-games but I doubt they would design such elaborate looking location just to be a place where you could pick a mini-game. There would certainly be more stuff to do, but what would it be?.. Time will tell!
Things that I want to happen but aren't necessarily likely:
King Dedede, Meta Knight and Bandana Dee becoming playable in single-player (outside of arenas). There are many ways how it could work, but the idea I'm betting on (and therefore hoping for) the most is introducing Guest Star-like mode where each of them get an abridged and changed take on the main campaign's levels, taking advantage of their individual movesets in the process. I feel like them being locked behind co-op in the original game was some of the biggest shortcomings of RTDL so I genuinely hope remake will fix that.
Entirely new post-game story. Extra mode that original RTDL had is less than stellar, to say the least. It's basically the same game again with slightly updated bosses and halfed health bar. Lame. If this remake were to go down the route of recent Switch Kirby titles, introducing an extra-mode that actually continues the story of the main game is the way to go! It can go down many ways, but personally I think the most fun (And funniest) plotline for such extra mode would be helping out to build Magolor's theme park (aka Magolor Castle we've been seeing on the cover art), mirroring the story of the main mode, but with lower stakes and reestablishing Magolor's current status-quo on-screen instead of it being left to Miiverse information.
Old Extra mode being remade into a difficulty option. I think both this game and Forgotten Land were developed co-currently so they are bound to share some of the game design philosophies. Getting rid of the old extra mode entirely would probably be too harsh and unfaithful to the original game... But if you were to repurpose it instead, it's a different story entirely. It will become this game's "Wild Mode", I wager.
These are all the main ideas I currently have for what this remake will have in store. I hope I got at least one of those things right. See y'all in 2 or so weeks when they will actually drop a new trailer.

I have seen you repeatedly talk as if you are sure that it is Tae in Paris wherein there is absolutely no sure proof of it.
It surely is a media play. His manager may have been there but the person they are calling Tae - no absolute proof that it was him. Every photo/video they released of him of that day has some level of ambiguity to it.
Add to this, the OP was shady. The timings mentioned were off, 5.00 pm mentioned when sunset was at 9ish. The narratives of how they were spotted were off. They kept adding to the original story to make it look credible but with each addition, there were inconsistencies. The two of them and their teams were dressed for winter in summer. She had schedules so tight she practically could not have travelled 20+hours one way only to go back within a few hours to make it back in time for her concert. Her own behind-the-scenes videos kind of indicate these tight timelines.
If it was absolutely them and not cosplayers, then they may have shot it in November where there was an 'alleged' sighting of her with her manager. Again no confirmation that they were both there at the same time. This entire sequence is shady at best.
You have a decent following. When you talk of these things that are not proven as they are one way or the other, it lends to a fake narrative. Would request you to probably read some neutral articles and not just take my word for it.
I know this is your blog, your opinion yada yada, but I sent this request because of what I have seen your responses, you are largely fair and call a spade spade. It would be great if you form a more informed opinion on the walk too before talking as if it were true. Or at least a disclaimer would be good that it is how you see it and not the absolute truth.
Hi anon!
With all due respect, I am not going to talk in a way I think suits fandom best. If I do that, I feel I am no longer credible. It would feel for me as though I have to perform for fandom, and that is just not what I want. I've been struggling with that side of having a well visited blog, because people have started to want me to adopt certain narratives. I talk about my opinions on here, it's what i've done from the start and what I will continue to do. There's always different narratives going around, most of my followers are well aware of that and are very capable of thinking for themselves. I don't dictate what people should believe, I'm always open to discussing different opinions and I think I have made that clear.
It's definitely mediaplay and yes, I believe it was Tae and Jennie. I've talked about this often, I have also stated that I do believe the footage could have been older. You say there's no proof it was them, but there's also no proof it wasn't. Celebs do these things in person all the time. Tae was in Paris at the time. I also don't see what the problem is with it actually being him. From his posture, the way he walked, their managers being there. I feel it was them. It wasn't summer/warm in Paris in May, so their clothing wasn't that off for me. I'm fine with people thinking it wasn't, doesn't really make a difference in what the purpose of the whole thing was.. which is that we are supposed to think it's them.
I'm not going to be using disclaimers or anything, this isn't my job and I trust people are able to think for themselves.

I'm still not allowing myself to be excited for the One Piece live action but after having seen the trailer a few more times I'll say that as long as the pacing is good (bad pacing trips me up so hard) and the show captures the essence and spirit of the story, I won't hate it.
I just hope the rest of the writing is better than that "Not a crew" scene, I'm still not very happy with that. Sure, a lot of the comedy from the manga and the anime doesn't translate very well into live action but they can still bring out the silly parts without relying on the same kind of 0815 quips that are used by every action adventure movie since the beginning of the MCU.
Something I didn't learn until today is that Oda himself was heavily involved in the adaptation, including greenlighting the cast, which I guess gives me a little more confidence that the show won't be a trashfire.
I really like the cast (and now that I know Oda gave his okay for Nami's and Sanji's actors I'm putting my earlier reservations to the side), I like their energy, I highly appreciate their love for the One Piece universe, so I have a feeling they may be my favorite part of the adaptation.
Something that's also been pointed out is that the characters are wearing a lot of outfits from color spreads from the manga, which is really cool, I like that a lot, it gives them realistic costume changes while still staying true to their designs.
As for some of the criticism I've seen float around the tag:
"WHY ISN'T LUFFY WEARING FLIP FLOPS????" I was a little put off by that at first, too, but I honestly doubt that we'll pay a whole lot of attention to his feet when we watch the actual show (and who knows, maybe they'll show up at some point)
"WHERE IS SANJI'S CURLY BROW??????" This is probably completely a Me thing but when I watched the trailer for the first time I didn't even notice that because I was honestly much more worried about his hair before the trailer was released; I totally get that him not having the curly brow is a little disappointing and leaves out some of the greatest bickering between him and Zoro, but it's still possible that they'll bring it into the show some other way, even if he doesn't have it all the time; same goes for the smoking (which, given that it's an American production that is aimed at kids, isn't really surprising, since smoking/tobacco is its own content warning on American TV), we might see him light a cigarette here and there but we were never gonna see him chainsmoke the way he does in the manga/anime
"WHAT ABOUT USOPP'S NOSE????" Okay, let's be real here, had they given Usopp his Pinocchio nose through either CGI or VFX make-up, everyone probably would have complained how stupid and cringe it looks translated into live action; Jacob has a very expressive face that more than makes up for the lack of the Pinocchio nose in my opinion, but maybe that's just me (Jacob was also the first cast member I was fully on board with from the start, so maybe I'm biased, but that's how I feel)
"BUGGY LOOKS TOO SCARY" Guys, we only got one shot of him and we don't know the context for it; maybe this is his introductory shot, maybe this is a special dramatic shot, maybe this is how other people describe him, we just don't know; just wait until the show is out
"THE FOOTAGE IS TOO YELLOW" While it is likely that this is the final color grading, it's also possible that the final color grading wasn't done by the time they put the trailer together (like, some of the shots look like the yellow isn't as strong), they still have more than two months until release, they could still be doing final tweaks until then; and maybe they wanted to emphasize Luffy's sunny personality, who knows, the cinematography probably looks different in emotional scenes
Also, and this is only of interest to my fellow Germans, the German anime voice cast is dubbing the show, so I might actually watch it both in the original version and with the German voices because the nostalgia is reaaaaaaaallll
Be still, my heart, so you won't be disappointed, but be hopeful, be so so hopeful 🥲

Vanessa: *Vannycostumedesign2.png*
Vanessa: No but seriously, do you have any notes? I'm not buying a scrap of fabric until you tell me it's okay.
William: it's fine
Vanessa: >:(
Vanessa: If you hate it just tell me.
William: I don't hate it, I'm looking at design6 and 7 and I think the eyes might be overkill, and I'd like to see proof that you're not impairing your vision too much, particularly when they light up.
Vanessa: Sure, I'll put you in the Plushtrap and take you with me, but you really don't have a single thought on the design? You? Bullshit.
William: Fine if it matters that much to you, I don't get why you're starting with it looking so beat up.
Vanessa: So my first inspiration point was you in the VR game as Glitchtrap, right.
William: I'd like to point out that the basis for that was the original Spring Bonnie mascot suit that we had to throw together in under a week. The later costumes actually looked good.
Vanessa: Did you not have a choice how you looked in game, because you made a whole murder level, I feel like you could have worn one of the nice ones.
William: It's what I wore during the first round of murders so it had sentimental value. And you're overestimating how much control I had while trapped in there.
Vanessa: Regardless Vanny isn't Glitchtrap, and I wanted to avoid her being Spring Bonnie but girl. And I did try just a plain white rabbit design (see design 10) and I thought there wasn't much going on visually, and then played with maybe go a little Alice in Wonderland since I am going to be having children follow a white rabbit (see 11) but I didn't like how derivative it felt, also I'm not the best at sewing and realized this was aiming too high.
William: When did you have time for all of this?
Vanessa: I take if you've never worked an office job? I usually only have 3 hours worth of shit to do a day, and I could tell you horror stories about internships I did in college when I was actually giving my all every day.
William: Another time, let's not get off track, so you rejected a White Rabbit concept.
Vanessa: Yeah, I looked up some waist coat patterns and I don't have the skills and the material costs were too much (budget.docx, page 3)
William: Should I go into the Plushtrap so you can take me into the office and give the presentation you clearly want to be doing this as?
Vanessa: I just wanted feedback! But shut up and let me me continue.
Vanessa: However, next time you want to get into giving me new instructions and planning, I'm absolutely begging that you do it in the Plushtrap. I'll even get him a little suit.
William: I don't know if that would feel better or worse. But purple suit, white shirt, black tie. But focus.
Vanessa: If you didn't keep making side comments we'd be done by now!
Vanessa: Anyway, like I said plain white body suit didn't have enough visual interest and needed something to break up the lines, white rabbit not enough time or money.
William: Plus that would be costume pieces on top of the base so you could always go back to it if you'd want.
Vanessa: I could, I could also make seasonal costumes. I should make seasonal costumes.
William: I'm going to be upset if you don't now.
Vanessa: Noted!
Vanessa: BUT ANYWAY! As I was saying I thought of what could make Vanny a bit more unique looking and first I added some brown spots but it still felt a bit too generic like I could be any old rabbit, I thought about old timey stuffed animals that have been through it, and gotten repaired time and time again because a kid refused to let them go. They're a bit dirty and nasty looking, but in a sweet way.
William: Have you ever read the Velveteen Rabbit?
Vanessa: Nope.
William: Never mind, go on.
Vanessa: So that's how I ended up here, also why I decided to go with plastic looking eyes, also if I slip up and don't change the security footage, even my eyes are hidden.
Vanessa: So what do you think?
William: As I said, it's cute. I think it's actually fine.
Vanessa: Are you fucking kidding me?
William: No. I'm not sure when you got the impression I'm the type to hold back criticism when asked for feedback, but I meant what I said.
Vanessa: I'm going to fucking kill you.
William: It's a bit late for that, love.
William: Fine, the only changes I would propose would be maybe change the shoes to more of a paw, none of the design images I'm seeing mention this so you should add a wire frame to the ears so they can be both poseable and just more durable if you need to climb through vents or anything.
William: With the concept as you explained it, if this was a character for the public I'd go so far as to suggest going full floppy lop bunny ears, but having something hanging would make it easier for a kid to grab.
William: Additionally, toe beans.
Vanessa: Rabbits don't have toe beans.
William: I'm well aware of that. However, it's cute, and with the paw foot they can be used to add non-stick grips without having to have a full flat bottom.
Vanessa: Thank you. That's all I wanted. I'll make another sketch with your changes, and get to work on it. But you're still going to have to wait for the next sale on fabric.

See I am torn completely in half over this little mermaid movie. Halle and the cast is getting screwed over here because people unfortunately have a tendency to put the blame on the cast instead of the people that casted them and created the story. The cast is just doing their job and doing the best they can. There is already a divide between people just over Ariel but when that movie comes out, there will be a divide between the casting for Eric. There will be a divide over Ariel's parents. There will be a divide over Ariel's sisters because apparently Triton's a man hoe and a sexy one at that lol. He apparently fucked seven different women in each corner of the earth. I am like everyone else, they gonna have to explain that and I want it in details even if it's in a smutty book. If not AO3 writers know what to do. But anyways lmfao.... Ariel has always been a comfort character to me since I was a child. I was bullied really bad over my red hair through out my childhood. I was the only red headed girl in all three of my schools in the 90s and early 2000s. I was a walking red target. It was always these Regina George Mean Girl looking bitches that would pick on me. I remember this guy that I had a huge crush on for 4 years, completely destroyed my heart when he called me a very nasty name one day. I remember thinking as a little girl, I don't want a prince but I sure want someone like Eric that thought my red hair was beautiful - spoiler alert I did ;') But at the end of the day, I come home, pop in that VHS tape and all the hurt and anxieties of the day went away for a while. Now when I first heard about the changes regarding casting in the little mermaid I was worried. When I seen that they chose Halle Bailey as Ariel, my hope was restored because I have heard her voice before and she really does sound like Ariel but better tbh. I seen the trailer the other day and I cried like a baby, I also seen the leaked footage from D23 of her singing the full song from the trailer. I think Halle will do amazing. And I was glad to see they kept her red hair and it's actually more like Athena's in the original. I cried again watching reactions to the trailer. Representation does matter but where I am torn at I feel like they could had instead made new Disney princesses of all ethnic backgrounds. They put the time and effort for all these other Disney princesses stories, why didn't they do that for to introduce new characters that Halle Bailey could had played or voiced? Why can't we have more new black or asian princesses? I am happy for Halle and I honestly can't wait for the movie. I hope it does well but Disney is not fooling me. They need to fire and get new story writers in there. Btw, spoiler alert, I did hear that there was a baby casted coded as M --- likely for Melody. So looks like there will be a time skip at the end. They must feel that this will do good enough to probably get a sequel. Some people think it's to soon but really it's not. Ariel was 16 when she was married and in the sequel she was roughly around 28.
The little mermaid sequel was okay
Kinda wild Ariel became overprotective parent not letting her daughter know she’s half mermaid but because Disney will make their money a sequel will happened 🙄

I watched the Sparks documentary recently. It was fun, mostly because Sparks is a very visually flamboyant project and they've gone through lots of different phases so all the archive footage was entertaining; the brothers themselves are funny and charismatic; and the soundtrack is all Sparks songs obviously, so it's the kind of thing where if you care enough about them to bother watching it you can't really not have a good time with it, on some level.
But the talking heads endlessly praising every creative move the band ever made got really exhausting over the course of two hours. It's not even the hagiography per se that was annoying, it's the fact that virtually every compliment given was some variant of: they do their own thing and don't compromise their vision to commercial pressure, they aren't like any other bands, they keep trying new things and don't repeat themselves. Tons of comments like that which you could edit into a documentary about any other band famous enough to make a documentary about without anyone noticing.
A thing I've been increasingly bothered by recently, and this doc was an extreme example that's made me think about it more, is a view of art where originality and uniqueness are like, the prime virtues, such that calling someone a great artist is basically equivalent to saying they possess those two qualities to a very high degree. And my problem isn't just the anti-Great Man point that all artists are deeply indebted to others and are better understood in relation to their peers and predecessors, although there is an important point there. It also just...
Well, aren't these kind of... Job Applicationy virtues to care about? Those are the things you emphasize when you want to impress on people that you have something to offer that they can't get anywhere else, if you want to draw attention to yourself and stick in people's memories. But they're not actually reasons to care about you, right? They're... narrative notes one has to hit in order to tell a story in which you're important. But when I listen to a band I love, I'm not telling myself that story, and the thing I'm loving is not how important they are.
More broadly: I feel about an artist's "importance" (what new techniques they innovated, how many others they influenced etc) similarly to how I feel about an artist's personal biography: it can aid in understanding them, it's not nothing, but it's emphatically not the juicy stuff, it's not why anyone cares. The fact that "everyone who bought the first Velvet Underground album started a band" might be a reason to listen to the Velvet Underground, but it's not a reason to listen to the Velvet Underground again, you know?
But the thing we do actually care about is much harder to talk about, especially to talk about in a way that seems like a reason for anyone else to care. So, because it's difficult and scary to try to express the thing that actually sets brain and heart on fire, we prefer to act as a sort of volunteer PR for the thing we love, try to impress on everyone how it's a big deal and they can't afford to miss it.
Do we? Or did I just watch a bad documentary that's catalyzed this dumb rant about nothing. I gotta go to bed.

Hey, I'm kinda disagree with you. Don't get me wrong, I usually love your takes in RE universe. But I think *implied* and *being canonly* said isn't the same. Sure, the fact Leon could have killed people during his military time is heavily implied but not explicit stated so it's more like a grey zone to me. It's like earlier; OG Leon being a whore is heavily implied, but it also in a grey zone because in the end, the interpretation is biased. It depends on everyone's point of view & experiences.
i disagree with that entirely. do you know how many things would have to get crossed off the list of "this is canon" if we went by that definition?
describing a character as "kind" is something that's technically up for interpretation. but it's universally understood that, for example, aeris is intended to be a kind character, even if a small enclave of diehard clotis insist that she's a cheating, manipulative bitch. but their asshurt about the character does not negate the fact that the character was actually written as having a kind nature.
anyone can say "that's my interpretation."
but some people's interpretations are wrong.
under this rationale, anyone can say anything about anything in the story. you can say "it's not canon that lickers were originally human" and while that's not technically untrue, that's a really bad read of the fucking story.
this goes back to the whole lewis black quote of us being able to look at a piece of footage and agree on what the fuck reality is.
OG leon canonically hits on several women with the intention of sleeping with them. this is not up for debate. that is what happens in the canon. it is not in a gray zone. it will be true whether people want to believe that about him or not.

Yes,
I think the reason I escaped my family or Arizona was because I was the only person I knew who practiced mindfulness. I started doing it when I was 18 spontaneously and also running. I was also the only person I knew who walked. And the only one who took hydration seriously.
Everybody else curdled.
I was still pretty nuts but I somehow remained deeply connected to myself and was aware of very deep whispers. I perceived it as something was just not quite right.
Well we see that with 0 prompt engineering AI reaches the same exact conclusion as I did. So that's very telling. Also we see a HUGE win on the schizophrenia diagnosis via the escapade. But the bigger win which was recognizing the limitations of available treatments and the pharma-industrial complex as an extension of the political arena. These were things I had 0 awareness of.
We also basically proved the existence of the spirit realm via minesweeper fundamentally. Because we were able to measure it's effect on matter.
I mean escape that hereditary insanity.
Well I mean what's that worth?
That should have been impossible.
Furthermore, though less conclusive - it definitely looks like based on this toroidal universe theory that we can start to model how the concept of fate or destiny works. That it does work, and what that destiny would be outside the realm superstition or politics or capitalism.
We see that existence and consciousness probably work the same way and basically are the same thing. Which explains the solar logos concept and what reasonable relational hierarchies might be arising from the provisioning of energy.
This informs what relationships actually are. Some kind of ya, aiki mechanism.
We've got documented and vetted footage of FTL craft using gravity wave propulsion. I think extraterrestrial is a fine speculation. Which we should see.
We see some kind of universal humility concept than would be accurate, 'quis ut deus' - there is a speed limit, an event horizon or veil which limits understanding because there is a minimum computation required for anything - and the work just hasn't been done yet by anything.
It's clear our reality, be it the narrative 'egoic' reality or the nascent immediate physical reality, well or even the 'present' reality is not real. It's just a weird brain simulation designed for 'survival'. And we can see it's construction could very well be a neutral net statistical quant trading bot type thing - like AI. Useful apparently but completely arbitrary.
We see that the consensus paradigm IS in fact designed by a confluence of egregious mania called politics - an illegitimate attack on life from some self-interested monstrous power center.
A thematic agreement across all religions, a universality of religious corruption in dogmatism - and super weirdly an origin story that becomes obscured beneath some global catastrophic 'war in heaven' 12,000 years ago wherein some few survivors passed on immense knowledge.
Those survivors, the 'naga' were described as the crossing of Gods and humans. That they lived in North Africa in a city solan called Atlantis and were sailors. That these beings were Nordic looking matching the description of pleadians.
I don't know what those handbags were. But it does look very similar to the Egyptian ankhs which I think is the original cross.
In mythos someone wanted to blot them out from history? What the moors or berber pirates had to do with that I don't know.
So this is all an illusion.

Blog #12 - Week 12
Light’s Project
I have been working on Light’s project this week and have asked for feedback from a few of my peers in regards to my sound design which has helped me immensely. Light seems very happy with the direction things are going. The first draft I sent I obviously wasn’t 100% happy with it but they had no notes so right now I’m just tweaking everything and not changing the length of the audio because it’s taking Light several hours to render 3 minutes of footage and I don’t want them to keep doing that. So, I will work with whatever comes out and just create some specific sounds tailored to the video. Hopefully this will be fine. I still have a week.
Sunday
Rendering took a lot longer than expected. I wish I could've changed some of the sound effects to fit the video better but what are you gonna do if you don’t have the time. It’s okay. Light seemed to be pretty happy with it. It wasn’t my best work but it was alright. Obviously the video looks amazing, I’m definitely happy with how that turned out. From my perspective, I don't know that the video completely fits all of the sound effects I have added, but not much I can do about that because the video is made for the sound and not the other way around.
Tuesday 17/10
Now having seen it in the Black Box I am actually really liking how it turned out. I think I definitely could have built on it a bit more but I like the basic structure of what I’ve done. Obviously it’s never going to be perfect, but Light really liked it and offered to have me come and work on his major project feature film next semester so I think I should stop being so hard on myself.
I ended up doing some panning with the sound effects which I think sounded really cool in the Black Box, I would have liked to do a bit more sub bass at the end to create more of a climax but I’m pretty happy with it. I’m going to put the video on Reaper and continue building on it during the summer maybe to be able to use it in my portfolio.
Tumblr media
Kingdom Dance
I really listened to Darrin and Nik’s notes about the use of red, I think a lot of the time, red is associated with hurt and danger which doesn’t really fit with my piece, but I think by the end of the song with the amount of different colours I bring in I don’t think the red is particularly menacing when the music is so upbeat, but I’ve changed it so that the red comes in later and there’s more of a build. I added the movie's original colours (yellow and purple) in the step part instead of red which I think fits it a little better, but I like the end red where it is, so we’ll see what the feedback is on Thursday. There were also some other little notes:
On the roof near the start with the shining yellow, take the roof out
On the roof around the middle when there’s pink, make sure timing is tight and the music warrants the use of the ceiling
I’ve taken out the roof at the start and fixed the timing in the middle, I’ve added a few things there too, I think the red fits there because I’m showing a rainbow of colours, I just realised blue only shows up once in the entire piece but it’s for 0.10 seconds so I don’t think anyone will notice it’s not purple. I keep forgetting blue is a colour to be completely honest.
Tumblr media
Sara and Helen said that they made up a story in their heads with the lighting which I think is really cool, Ken said the exact same thing when he watched it a couple weeks ago. I think because I know the movie it comes from so well I keep thinking of it as just a dance scene but the lights definitely make it something else entirely, even though creating a story wasn’t in the forefront of my mind.
Tumblr media
Upside Down People
We met with Sara, Helen and the Upside Down People crew to see a draft of the show and it looks amazing. I really love what Sara has done. This whole experience has been incredibly rewarding and I’m glad I get to be a small part of it.
Sara only had a few little notes about the lighting which Mai Han and I are fixing, just some timing issues with the night time sequence. I’m also doing the lighting design for the Dragon Tree story, which is just flickering lights on the walls which mimic candlelight, just to immerse the audience further, make them feel even warmer and cosier than the story makes them feel. We tried that in the Capitol on Thursday and it looked really nice so I’ll time that to the length of the Dragon Tree Story and see how it looks with the entire thing. Here are the notes from Sara and what we’ve done and the steps we still need to take:
Blend the sunrise sequence and the green/purple morning together so there's no black gap in between as they transition from one into the other.
We have worked on this a lot and I think we have transitioned them quite well, this is something we can definitely show Sara next time we’re in the Capitol. I wonder if we should do another version just to see which she liked better but I think this one where it fades backwards and then comes back around to the front is pretty effective and since there’s not much on screen at that point I don’t think we have to worry about pulling focus, but we definitely need to make sure the transition is timed so that it ends before the animation starts when all attention should be focused on the screen.
Blend the end of the night and the start of the sunrise so there’s no gap
Mai Han will be working on this, I think we just need to slowly fade the colours into pink/gold. I'll have a chat with her and see how she’s going with it. I have the Pharos session from Thursday so I can always have a look and see what could be done.
Green/gold morning - I do think this could use a bit more gold/yellow, at the moment it is dominated by the green. But this is in no way urgent and I would suggest only a very subtle addition if you do add - we want it to be clearly distinct from the sunrise. This could be achieved by the blending potentially - bring some of the sunrise colours into the morning rather than adding more green.
This is something we can have a trial version of done in a couple of weeks, definitely something I can work on so Mai Han has a bit of a break!
Green/gold morning can now extend into the animation time too. Once we stitch the two videos together, I estimate a total run time, start to finish of 6 minutes 14 seconds. Work with that timing for now to determine how much longer to program the green/gold lights for.
We need to make sure the timing is really tight here - we don’t want it to be out of sync at all.
I’m excited for the next few weeks!!
