may i offer pre-movie broppy angst in these trying times 🤲🏼

all i can think about is how may times poppy reached out to branch , trying to show how much she cared and wanted to include him , and how everytime he dismissed her. i like to think that branch, despite feeling guilty for hurting her, felt like he was protecting her in the long run. not to get too philosophical but “i bite” is literally how branch sees himself , an uncontrollable bad omen who is destined to destroy all things good in his life. by rejecting poppy and her optimism he is subconsciously saving her from what he believes is a cruel fate for all the people close to him.

tbh i both get and dont get the ajax thirst. hes a sweet guy and i think fanart makes him look better but hes like. diluc. in game is doing him so dirty.

Ajax and Kaeya are both big fan favourites. They're both charismatic and kind, easy to fall for. Especially with all the fan service they do for the camera and at their shows.

Meet and greets are especially chaotic but they thrive off all the attention, giving everyone "special treatment" but when you arrived, dressed in their merch with a sparkle in your eye it didn't help matters.

You were alone for some reason, given a special pass to hang out with the band privately. Thankfully, you were very sweet and polite so they had no reason to think you were going to be creepy. In fact, you were so kind they couldn't help but fall a little in love with you.

It quickly became a game of who can get your number first, especially after their manager finally introduced you as their sister. They trusted their manager, and by extension that meant you. Their walls weren't up as high in response, feeling a little ready to relax.

Later, it practically devolved into a cock fight, the two of them trying to show off their own individual skills. Well, they called it skills but to you it looked more like a dog show.

"There's no way you think you can balance longer than I can!" Ajax yelled at Kaeya, now attempting to balance a pen on his nose.

"Your other senses heighten when you lose one!" he replies hotly, making the ginger scoff.

"You can see out of that eye! You just pretend you can't for the mystery!"

"Oh so how are you going to explain why you're such an idiot?"

You laugh at the sound of their bickering, it being the only thing that snaps the two of them out of their stupor. For a minute, they both look a little bit like lovesick puppies who got tossed out the door, ears drooping at the prospect you could be making fun of them. But, they suddenly brighten when they realise you were happy, now extending an invitation to go somewhere a little more private to talk.

Ajax decided to take you over to the refreshments table. You might be angry after their show after all, and still in plain view of your sibling just in case they were worried about you going off alone.

Without you even asking, he started to make you a bowl of snacks, and put it in your hands, picking some off for himself as he leans against the table.

Now, away from Kaeya you can see some of his competitiveness dissipating slightly, almost a little embarrassed that he was behaving so childishly. However, the slight smile on his face showed you that he wasn't all the way regretful, hands gently brushing over your body as he pulls you out of the way of another member of the crew moving things around.

"Woah there - be careful, alright?" he says quietly into your ear as he pulled you into his chest.

Someone walked by with a pole, misjudging its weight and letting it swing around just a bit before he stopped it. The staff apologised and Ajax merely shook his head, again just reminding them to be careful before tilting your face up to look at him. His eyes scan you over, as though worried that even being in proximity to something dangerous injured you.

"I'm okay," you reassure him, putting your hands on his chest without really thinking about it.

"It didn't even hit me. Maybe I breathed on it but that's about it."

"No harm in being too cautious, right?" he laughs, taking the chance to admire you more.

"After all, I don't want you to be too hurt to go on our first date."

Your jaw drops a little, catching yourself as you give him a quizzical look.

"You're asking me on a date?" He averts your gaze. pale face turning bright red at the direct confrontation.

"I wasn't competing with Kaeya for nothing. Is that a yes or a no?"

Kaeya comes off as a little lecherous but you know that he's just got a silver tongue with not too much to back it up. Your sibling's words, not mine.

This means when he asked you to come with him to his dressing room you didn't think anything bad would happen. Honestly, you're a little thankful for it, following after him as he takes you to it.

As soon as you get to the room you collapse onto a comfy-looking sofa, sighing happily as you've been on your feet practically all day. He disappears for a second, coming back with some fruit drinks for the two of you. You accept one gratefully, watching as he sits down in a chair across from you.

"Why'd you wanna come here? Was it too noisy over there for you?" you ask him after taking a sip of your drink.

"You mentioned being tired and a little worn out fro all the noise earlier," he replies easily, looking at you as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Ajax was too busy trying to challenge me to an arm wrestle that he didn't hear it so of course I had to rescue you."

He gives you a charming smile and you shake your head, chuckling a bit.

"Well, I guess separating me from him makes it easier for you to win me over, doesn't it?"

Kaeya laughs with you but when his eye meets yours again you can't help but flush under the intensity of his gaze.

"Well, did it work?"

The amount of progress I made since being diagnosed with autism, depression and anxiety. Even if I stopped going to therapy, I feel like the diagnosis (esspecially the autism one) shed so much light on my life, and I was able to makes the world around me (even if just at home) more confortable for myself by understanding myself more and adjusting the way I do things so it's easier on me.

Favorite books?

Hmmmmm let's see- the Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children series, obviously, but I also LOVE The Book Thief, American Gods and definetely Warrior Cats (I only read the first arc, so Idk how good's the rest xD)

1: the character everyone gets wrong

AUGGHHHHHHH OHHH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! LUCAS 4 SURE. also maybe Gerard and Frank and other Band Dudes, but as for actual fictional characters, PROBABLY LUCAS!

Now, we don't have a clear idea of what Lucas is like post time-skip, if he's still the same gentle cry baby as he was before, in the prologue. But you gotta understand that going on a journey like that has got to change a person. He's def a lot more brave than the fandom, AND FUCKING SMASH BROS BRAWL !!! gives him credit for.

Old fanfics will usually give him t-th-he unre-re-alistic s-s-s-s-stuttering habit, which is sssssoooooooooo hard to read sometimes. I understand stuttering as something someone can have naturally, but in this context, it's something he does because he's nervous or scared or flustered. And he does it almost every time he talks until he finally warms up enough, or he's in a perpetual state of flustered. I'd understand if this was an actual speech thing he had that the author brings up, but no, you can tell that the intention is just to make him look more, ... Im not sure the right word, but more Shoujo shy girl like. Y'know?

Mischaracterization can't really be a thing with Mother protags and other silent protagonist. There can be opinions on characters I can either like or dislike, but that doesn't rule out the possibility that the character is "actually" like that. For Ness and Ninten, no one is really right or wrong... Characterizing them as assholes (COUGH mother 1 novel with Ninten/Ken) or as shy or, well, most of the time people just write Ness as a heroic extrovert and/or complete dumbass which personally is the correct way to me.

But in Mother 3, we get more character from Lucas than we do with any other mother protag, in that he's a gentle boy who likes flowers, and the village sees him as a crybaby, even before Hinawa died. (That one lady Flint talks to during the forest fire, before they knew Hinawa died, called Lucas a crybaby)

But fuck dude, even before the time-skip happened, Lucas came in clutch with the drago to save Salsa and Kuma from Fassad!!! You go, baby Lucas! wth!!!!

Anyway I am fucking SICK!!! I AM FYUCKIMG SICKKK!!!!!!!! Of baby-cant-do-nothin-right-pussy-boy Lucas, characterized in fanart or fanfics. I don't want him to just be a stoic asshole, but I also don't want the crybaby part to be laid on too thick, y'know? Characterize him with thought. He can still be a gentle crybaby, but don't make that his whole thing, who cries at any small thing that happens

As much as I love Brawl, it was the start of this trend. As much as I love subspace emissary, they absolutely did Lucas fucking DIRTY. What the fuck is he doing, getting scared over these fuckin doll guys and the poo-poo gas ??? Subspace's characterization with Lucas was fucking foul. It started the trend of writing Lucas like a little bitch because that's how most of the world was introduced to him. Also I am RIDDLED with Nesscas brain I forgot that's literally what Lucas goes thru when he's with Red, I forgor. But most people just think about the Ness Died Because of Lucas Scene in subspace, not how he protects himself and Red later. Oughhhhhh

Kickstarter and board game info:

-'Strange Nightmares' is currently a 2-4 player game, but developers at Maestro Media are working on possibly making a single player route

- Base pledge for the kickstarter is $40 (those who subscribe within the first 48 hours will receive a free 2" dark glitter pony figure)

-Game is still in development. There may be expansions to the game which add additional stories and game aspects, depending on how successful the kickstarter is.

- 3 stories in the game at launch, each with multiple endings. Steve has written about 30 storylines, and they are currently working on implementing story number 4.

- The digital version of the board game will be available

- Game takes 45 minutes to an hour to play

-About a 60/40 win to loss ratio, stories get progressively more difficult.

- Game and merch will feature both art from the original video game and fanart

- There will be social media challenges following the kickstarter launch 'please don't break the law doing these challenges... (or don't get caught!)'

- Travis is not in the board game (but he may get a vinyl figure, which will be available through the kickstarter)

-'Strange Boxes' are SF themed loot crates/ puzzles that will be sent out quarterly. They will contain t-shirts and other merch featuring art from various artists, as well as mystery puzzles to solve. You can purchase single boxes, subscribe to receive them as they're released, or purchase all of them and receive them all at once after they've all been released.

- Will there be sheet music in the Strange Boxes? 'No... I never learned music theory... I don't write anything down, its all in my head. I just play what feels good.'

- Will Sal return in physical form (in SF2)? 'Depends on your definition of 'physical'.'

- Is Larry a hot dog or hamburger guy? 'He likes both, he just smooshes them together and eats them at the same time.'

- If the characters had voices, is there anyone who you can name? '...I have a particular voice in my head for Sal, I cant think of anyone who sounds like him... Ash sounds like Michelle Trachtenberg or Sarah Michelle Gellar... Larrys voice is like Keaneu Reeves from Bill and Ted but a little less doofy.'

- Steve has not watched the (Featherfall Studios) fan dub, but will watch it eventually

- What happened to Bob (Todds fish)? 'No comment... hes fine, don't worry'

- Are Sal and Larry devious enough to run from the police? 'Probably, it depends on what they did.'

- ' The friends tried to start a band together but it didn't go far... Sal plays guitar, Todd plays keyboard, Ash sings and plays base, Larry plays drums... they didn't play well but they loved it. Played 90s vibe grungy rock. Larry would have definitely been screaming. I didn't come up with a band name... they probably had a big list and kept switching the name.'

- Did Sal recognize pastor Phelps as the same person who shot his mom? 'Sort of. He thought it might be the same person, but he wasn't sure.'

- Have you read any SF fanfiction? 'I haven't... I didn't want it to influence any story decisions.'

- Sal and Travis or Sal and Ash? 'No comments on ships.'

- Why was SF set in the 90s? 'That's when I grew up... a main inspiration was 90s cartoons, so it's set in that time.'

- Was Travis made in a test tube or does he have a mom? 'He has a mom.... I don't wanna give too much away.'

- Do you watch SF cosplay tiktoks? 'Sometimes. If people tag me in stuff I usually watch them... sometimes I search the tags.'

- Are Lisa and Janice friends? 'Of course they're friends!'

- Did Sal ever introduce Soda to Megan? 'No. He wouldn't want to freak Soda out... especially because Chug is freaked out by her. He wouldn't want to go against Chugs wishes. If Soda would have gotten older, maybe he would have.'
