i wanna talk about this portrayal of sally jackson and how it feels notably younger than the 2010 movie or even the musical. obviously her age is never explicitly stated there or in the books, but mama was sitting on the fire escape in the rain listening to olivia rodrigo and thinking about her ex. she's giving big 30-something millennial energy and i think that's so important in the context of HER story as a young mother alone in the world just trying her best. i think percy paints her as this angelic, caring, gentle presence that can do no wrong but the pov shift in the show lets us see her rougher edges, the places where she wasn't always perfect. and maybe im reading too far into this but if you reframe her and percy's relationship within the context of her being that young, of them reaching this quasi-gillmore girls space of "you are my baby but you're also my best friend and all i have in this world" idk it just feels a lot deeper somehow, like they're giving sally more dimension and development earlier on and i'm so excited to see her arc progress in future seasons

Drawings from last week in the Sierras. At one point I lost my eraser off my mechanical pencil and then my back-up block eraser so after that we were just flying free

#these were done over five days in which i also walked 30 miles and read 12 books. and then on the last day i did nothing whatsoever #those are the stats of my vacation #watercolor #the first two were from drive-in glamping the rest were hike-in and so are in a lighter weight sketchbook

“yeah,” he says, momentarily dazed from the image bestowed before him. “they truly are beautiful.”

(“—like you,” he wishes to add, but keeps it to himself instead to savour this peaceful moment of yours together.)

you giggle at his words, muttering something along the lines of “you seem to adore them more than i do!”, but he’s too out of it to notice — too enamored and deeply raptured by the being that is you; passionately; wholeheartedly; abysmally.

kunikuzushi has only heard of the tales of love and the feelings the emotion springs forth, but has yet to experience it himself; a wanderer and puppet he may be (but he is still a living being who wishes to explore this world and its nuances nonetheless). but you, he’s come to realise with a small smile of revelation, are his eternal spring amidst the chilly winds.

a familiar flutter occurs within, and he stares at his palm as a sakura petal drifts atop it. gently, his fist encloses around the singular petal and he brings it up to his lips in hope.

please, he begs to himself, a seemingly quiet prayer that only overpowers the erratic voices within his mind, don’t be my fourth betrayal.

(but scaramouche should’ve known that was wishful thinking — distorted images of you drift through his mind like autumnal leaves, and yet your smile remains as beautiful as the sakura petals you once bestowed so wholeheartedly to him.

so warm and radiant... he’ll engrave your being into his longevity; his fourth betrayal.)

I was certain I'd be able to publish the video by the end of the month, I was moving at a good pace.

Today the project file got corrupted and all attempts to restore it from backups or otherwise have failed. I will try and frankenstein together the edited parts of the video from old test exports and edit other parts all over again. I will still do my best to make it by the end of the month but at this point I don't know how realistic that is - my plan did not account for having to redo completed segments.

This kind of thing has happened before and I was able to restore the file from backup, but it looks like my AviUtl stopped making those for some reason months ago. It happening now of all times feels like some terrible joke.
