One hundred and one days ago my friends and I were normal teenagers. It was sunny even for an October day, I had just gotten coffee with an old friend, I was scrolling through some silly article I found, speedwalking the way home so I could make it in time to help prepare for the holiday dinner. All of us seniors were warily anticipating the endless weeks until the next break, mentally preparing to study our asses off for the rapidly approaching finals. I was finally working up the nerve to ask this one guy out, I was vaguely planning to see a friend who was home from the army during the week, and I was due to start driving lessons as soon as I called the teacher up.
And then everything changed the next day, just like that.
In these past one hundred days every Jewish person and every Israeli has had their world turned upside down. There is not a SINGLE family left untouched somehow. Cousins, friends, teachers, we all know someone whose life is never going to look the same.
We'e seen the liveliest, wisest, funniest people we know walk around with hollow expressions. We've seen the strongest, most sarcastic and stoic people we know break down in tears midsentence. People we look up to are as broken as we are.
There isn't really anything to say. Our words echo in the silence. People deny us the right to grieve and to defend ourselves, everywhere, not just in Israel.
And we're not the only ones suffering. The people in Gaza are going through an indescribable hell, which their downright evil leaders have brought upon them. It's terrible.
War is heartbreaking.
Be empathetic. Be kind. Give someone a hug. Learn something new. Do something good.

16.12.2023 // day 2/100 of productivity - I completely forgot about doing this 100 day challenge (oops) so I'm starting it again now since my exams are coming up in just a few months! I spent the day working through some of the harder topics and drew out some diagrams to help me understand them.

The actor (Gustaf Gründgens) who plays Fouché is hugely compelling. His voice is so insinuating and sly. “Hundert Tage” movie, 1935, on youtube. It’s in German and the English subtitles are useless. I’m watching it anyway.
P.S. The book/movie “Mephisto” was based on Gustaf Grundgens.

It’s been 100 days since Tal Shoham, 38, was taken hostage by Hamas terrorists on October 7 from Kibbutz Be’eri. Tal was kidnapped along with his wife, Adi Shoham, his daughter, Yahel, 3, and son, Naveh, 8, as well as his mother-in-law Shoshan Haran, his wife’s aunt Sharon Avigdori and her daughter Noam, 12. Tal’s family were released from captivity, he is still being held captive. I personally know Tal’s family, and even though his wife and children have been released, their lives remain in limbo. We must all do all we can to bring Tal and all the hostages home, NOW!

But even if you put that aside, even if you disagree; what is happening in Gaza is a tragedy. However, it is not one caused by Israel’s hand; the heaps of weapons, tunnels, and infrastructure, all used for terrorist activities against Israel instead of building up prosperity and pushing for a higher quality of life for Palestinians in Gaza, show that this never stood a chance. Gaza is one big, booby-trapped tunnel-filled enclave. What choice does Israel have, and what choice does it have in how the world sees it?
We know that if Hamas were to hold up their weapons and return our hostages, this would all end in a second.
Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan put the absurdity up as a mirror to the international community, in a speech marking 100 days since October 7 at UN headquarters in New York on Friday: “100 days have passed since the massacre, and not even one discussion was held on releasing the hostages. 100 days where 136 women, children, and elderly are being held in Hamas tunnels, and there is yet to be a single discussion dedicated to their release. Not even one. Hamas has not even allowed the Red Cross to visit the hostages. We are talking about one of the worst war crimes there is!”
With so much going on and so much that has happened over the last 100 days, there can be times when we forget, but we cannot: 100 days and counting of our innocent brothers and sisters who were taken hostage, against their will and without provocation, with barely any signs of life and no indication of humanity from their captors otherwise. This needs to be something we wake up and go to sleep with until they are home.
That is what we are fighting for; that is what we have been fighting for all along, to preserve life. It’s been 100 days too many; bring them home.

13/09/23 (Day 1)
Today I am starting my full time jorney on learning german. I did it before, yeah, but now it is more important than ever.
I start with writing some inspo quotes in my handy-notebook and writing litany against fear from dune in german. It is a habit of sorts, to write that down on a first page - that litany really helped me out when I was distraught at the start of the war. I keep it really close, every day.
Join me on this jorney, if you wish so! ^^
