I dare you to tell that in 2x16 dean wasn’t seconds away from getting physical when they’re arguing in the kitchen about the fact that Jess had been there. He screams at her about how she lied to him and why was Jess there and how her excuses are crap and you can see how afraid Rory is by how mad dean is.

And then Paris and you can’t tell it’s not bc she can see how things are escalating and she’s afraid of Rory getting hurt.

After awhile Deans habit of flying off the handle over everything and his overwhelming insecurity become his only personality traits.

Not to mention that as soon as Jess comes into the show it becomes abundantly clear that Dean and Rory have nothing in common. And we all know Dean wants a Donna Reed and Rory was never going to be that so frankly the whole thing was doomed from the beginning.

Rory held on bc Dean was a safe choice. Dean held on bc he felt like she was meant to be his forever. Frankly considering they’re sixteen their relationship way too much like fucking dysfunctional marriage.

Jess and Rory had a much more believable teenage relationship than dean and Rory ever had.

while i made that post for the ten first lines tag game, i realised that i have written 2 flash fiction pieces the whole year. some short stories are already over a year old, it feels like yesterday that i wrote them. and i haven't worked much on my writing behind the scenes either. it simply has been a year without the hobby that is so prescious to me.

and while i know that sometimes breaks are long, can be much longer than a year, it still does not change the fact that a part of me is grieving for all the words i didn't write. i had ideas, i had the want, i just couldn't. 2023 has been one of the worst years for me and it is no surprise that this is mirrored in the lack of creative energy.

so i am trying to be gentle with myself. forcing out words has never worked for me and i certainly don't want to put out rubbish (even if it can be fun, but i digress). though i certainly won't just give up. one more piece of writing has to happen before the year is completely over. this is less a plan than a threat. who knows what my fingers will spill. beware of the words.

Ah, the tried and tested tradition of people my age and older being really fucking angry that a game whose target audience starts at 8 but isn't Dark Souls levels of hard/complicated/deep.

Shut the fuck up, you entitled little shitheels, my nephew can play this game and that's fucking awesome.

We all know you're real smart and clever and that's why you seek higher intellectual stimulation from over engineered rock paper scissors simulators.

Is the game perfect? Fuck no. It's a main release for the Pokemon franchise. It takes at least a decade and the head start of it being your first for any of these to become "perfect." It'll take until the next release for this one to be considered "good." There's even probably some actual criticisms about it that don't boil down to "it's not what I remember so it's bad" and "this dumb game for babies is dumb and easy, almost like they expect babies to be able to get through it!"

But if I see you whining because you're old enough to vote and the game explicitly targeting all demographics, including small children, is not tailored to your adult needs, I will fucking scream. I will also block you, and call you an idiot as I do it, because you are.

The world’s been at peace for a year. August of 1946 dawns gently. 

“Made a call today,” Bill says casually, as the sun dips, blood red, back into the horizon. Joe had watched it rise this morning, and set the night before. He’ll probably watch it rise again tomorrow. 

“Okay.” He says, in address to Bill, who hums.

“Yeah. Down to Rhode Island. Rather big Portuguese immigrant population down there, didja know?”

Joe didn’t. “Sure.”

“Well, I only know that because George Luz picked up the receiver and started speaking in rapid fire Spanish — or whatever the hell they speak down in Portugal.” Joe keeps staring out the window. He starts tapping his fingertips against the armchair of the wheelchair, though.

Bill, taking this as his response, continues on. “Anyways, after sorting out whatever tongues shit he was saying, we got down to business. First, he apologised. See, apparently, he’s got this sister — he’s got nine goddamn siblings, can you believe that? — anyways, he’s got this sister, right?”

“Sure.”

“And his sister, according to him — but paraphrased by me — is a little khaki wacky, ya get it?”

“Naturally.”

“So, long story short, she’s stuck in a goddamn Spain army base and they won’t let her leave again because her passport’s all out of whack, so he’s been trying to sort that out. Shit, maybe he was speaking Spanish, then. Or maybe he thought I was his sister at first? Well, first of all, that’s goddamn insulting, don’t you think?”

“Hm.”

“—Second of all, I don’t think he did, because apparently he’s trying to get in contact with the foreign affairs office down there. Anyways—” Bill waves his hand, as if to erase the story from his train of thought. “I bummed his phone number offa Perconte – I have his address, but I’m too impatient to send a letter.”

“Of course.”

“So he picks up, starts speaking in whatever the hell that was, switches to English, says ah, hey, it’s my favourite VD! and we get down to business, right?”

“Right.”

“Right! So we get down to business, and he explains in the most confusing way possible why his sister’s in Spain, and I’m just tryin’ to figure out what the hell’s going on, and then I say, hey, if you need a break from all that, you should come visit!” Bill pauses, here, as if to let his words sink in.

They sink in just fine, but Joe doesn’t turn away from the window. “Seems logical.” He says.
