Darius 🤝 Willow
Beefing with the blights in complex, somewhat homoerotic ways
#ramblings of a lunatic#the owl house#willow park#darius deamonne#this has always been my vision of their dynamic/how they parallel each other#IF we are to believe the dana gallery nucleus art that positions them as parallels#it's like. if darius was confident and sunny and bright as a teen but had problems showing vulnerability#possibly afraid of losing status/respect#then that lack of vulnerability followed him into adulthood making him the aloof person we know today cause he never had his ftf breakdown#BUT ALSO. i think abt this too. blights are just like oops! I'm gonns give this person massive abandonment issues!#this will make me feel bad too!! i will suffer because of this but i don't know other ways to live!!!#(at least. that's how i envision the darius/alador breakup i know it's very vague in canon)#(but like. compare how happy they were as kids to how miserable they can both be as adults. they are worse off for this)#i think it'd be neat if willow was the person who nudged darius back towards alador#bc she knows what it's like being hung up on someone you're convinced hates you. it sucks!!#and she's so so forgiving as long as she feels like the person she's forgiving is actually going to put in effort to change#(hence how after Amity follows through on her promise from understanding willow to not let Boscha bully willow anymore-#-IN wing it like witches THEN we see amity get to be a part of the best friend montage. she followed through and that proves she's trying)#(and then obviously hunter stuck his neck out for them with nothing to gain after her hurt them and that showed her that he can learn-#-and change for the better and hence she gave him that opening if he wanted it)#(it's still his responsibility to be a good friend but she'll try if he will. willows forgiving but she's not a doormat)#(and i feel like she wants to know the ppl in her life see her as someone worth improving for bc of her self worth issues)#ANYWAY that was a long winded way of saying she'd have a valuable perspective to lend to darius who seems to be similar to her in many ways#anyway what if i cried abt them

The Owl House has Coven Heads But No Covens
Alador is a part of the abomination coven. He quite literally has to be because otherwise he's part of the Emperor's Coven and that makes issues with Amity going covenless SO MUCH WORSE. So, with that, here's a simple question: If his boss doesn't like his work, why can't he shut it down?
This is the core of the problem. Darius is a coven head. These coven heads are made out to be a big deal. A position you want to aspire to. They also work directly with Belos and presumably make some amount of input on decisions for how the Isles are run. They are Belos' cabinet effectively with what we see.
But on the flipside... What do they do? And potentially more importantly, what do their covens do? Terra is used to test Kikimora, an EC member. Grey uses EC guards during Labyrinth Runners. Yes, you could argue they are still illusion coven members but they look and act like Emperor's Coven members and even use that coven's equipment: The abomatons. Where are HIS illusionists?
Or, you know, the ones who make objects to sell and distribute to those not as high in the coven ranks? Those with little magic and need things like personal protection? Those like Alador. But... Darius appears to EXTREMELY disapprove of Alador's work. Sure, it may be personally motivated but when has that ever stopped a boss from doing a dick move? Let alone once Belos had a reason to get upset with them as well with the abomatons. That should have made there be a limited amount of abomatons because Blight Industries was potentially closed by order of the coven head. That or it could have been taken over by Darius so maybe they keep making abomatons but now Amity's is more connected to the covens than she was before because her family's business has more direct oversight. Now that her and Blight Industries are properly connected to the abomination coven.
Not that it shouldn't have been already. Again, you have the Main Nine, so big that the classes in Hexside bend around them and they have specialized uniforms for kids to show they're studying for a specific coven, even in other schools. Shouldn't that mean this is a real organization and so an entity as big as Blight Industries is made out to be should already have been brought under their wing? They're using literally the magic that the coven exists to... Well, technically for no reason but murder but the excuse should be that it helps push the magic further while also regulating it to make sure it doesn't break the law.
But do you know who shows up because of the abomatons? Hunter. And the Emperor's Coven. NOT the abomination coven.
This is kind of one of those big things that highlights how underdeveloped the worldbuilding of TOH is. Everyone has to be a part of a coven but we NEVER get an idea for what that even means beyond a tattoo that limits your magic. These covens are a part of the governing body but what do they DO? And you can't blame the shortening AT ALL for this because the show introduced the covens during literally the FIFTH episode. So we had an entire season where we could have had even one episode actually showcase a coven and what they're about, or even montage through a lot of them to show how the Isles worked... And we got literally zero. Instead, we got episodes like The First Day that make even the little we know about covens and wild witches seem inconsistent.
It's not even that this would be too boring. Luz gets excited for the Covention literally BECAUSE getting to showcase so much magic is a really cool idea. But even that episode makes it boring. We get like two covens getting to show off their stuff, and not really all that impressively, a description for a couple covens' types of magic, not what they do in the society, and that's... It. We don't even get the full nine despite them having decided to do a boring ass job fair for this. Instead, the covens themselves feel like a footnote in their own episode despite being the ONE kind of unique thing about TOH's world. Not really since it comes across as just schools of magic but it's SOMETHING beyond the most generic fantasy out there.
But it didn't care. The covens are just there for paradoxically heavy handed but also inconsistent messaging and theming. So we get coven heads because they're cool and they're able to be enemies... But no covens. Because actually showing those might have meant having to have a real world.

Tag Team AU Synopsis – Really Small Problems + Understanding Willow
Synopsis Masterpost Link
Previous Part [Sense and Insensitivity + Adventures in the Elements + The First Day]
Next Part [Enchanting Grom Fright + Wing it Like Witches]
This is one of the big ones. The BIG ones. Big turning point episode here. All of these End Of Season 1 episodes are going to be like that. With a LOT of script screenshots.
Really Small Problems
I… didn’t have anything written for this episode, but I should mention that Tibbles hasn’t appeared in this AU because he’s actually profiting off of selling the Azura Books due to the Azura Incident and doesn’t need to do any more schemes.
This episode wouldn’t have involved the carnival, but instead probably would have been a Willow-and-Amity-conflict centric episode and a Gus-and-Hunter friendship episode. Originally it was going to be a “Willow gets a crush on Hunter” episode that led into the pseudo-romance arc I’d been talking about for a while, but it never seemed right to me the more we saw canon Willow’s attitude towards canon Hunter in season 3. I still wanted elements of that though, since it’d be important for the Grom episode.
I’m also realizing now that I’m writing the whole synopsis that the Emerald Trio really doesn’t hang out very much in any of the episode descriptions, so I wanted to include a thing that was like “they hang out off-camera please believe me”.
Anyway, Hunter passes out at some point, which leads us into…
Understanding Willow
Which really should be called "Understanding Hunter" at this point.
The episode starts out with Hunter falling into a magical exhaustion, brought by him over-worrying about how to heal Belos. This would have assumedly been built up over the course of Really Small Problems, which I didn’t write, but somehow Amity, Willow, and Gus are there to bring him back to the Owl House.
Amity and Willow volunteer to go into his mind and find out what is keeping him from waking up. When they’re sent in, they see that everything is extremely cluttered and all the trees are covered in notes. They hear muttering, and come across Inner Hunter, who is surrounded by paper and chalkboards.
Hunter is surprised that they’re in there, especially when they say that he’s fallen into a magical exhaustion in the real world, and says that he feels completely fine and they can leave. Amity says that maybe the notes are what is messing with his head, and in the process of reaching out to touch them Hunter summons a wall of ice. He warns them not to touch anything – he’s almost at a breakthrough.
Willow and Amity suggest that they help him out – the faster they figure out how to do the thing he’s researching, the sooner Hunter wakes up. Hunter agrees, and reveals he’s trying to heal someone’s curse. Not Eda’s – someone else’s.
They go through a research montage, failing multiple glyphs and exploding a few science flasks, etc, up until they start asking him questions about the curse.
Tumblr media
Amity asks more pointed questions, making Hunter nervously ask what she’s getting at.
Tumblr media
Hunter gets angry at the accusation, saying that this person isn’t doing it on purpose or faking it. Amity just says that it feels familiar. Hunter is generally pissed now, and tells them to get lost. Willow doesn’t stand for it, saying that he needs to wake up.
Tumblr media
Amity figures this is enough, and burns all the notes and work. She says he’s stretching himself thin to do an impossible thing, and that sometimes things can’t be fixed.
Hunter doesn’t like that. The mindscape warps slightly as he turns into a goopy version of Hunter, Belos eyes and all (something something turning into the thing that scares you the most as a defense mechanism), and he starts attacking them. They hide in one of his memories to escape.
Tumblr media
The memory they enter is in his room in the Emperor’s Castle. They hear a younger Hunter talking to someone on a bed.
Tumblr media
Luz is revealed, as well as her humanity AND the fact that Hunter is the other Golden Guard. They hear the Inner Hunter coming (he warps the memories with mud as he goes through them), so they escape into a different memory, this time of the fight Hunter and Luz have before they start having a better relationship (it’s the same one in the Pre-Show events post)
Tumblr media
They leave the memory when the coast is clear. Amity mentions that when Hunter told her to stop trying to protect the person she was hurting, back in Covention, he must have been speaking from experience. Willow asks if Amity was also speaking from her experience with their friendship when she told Inner Hunter that sometimes things can’t be fixed, and Amity says yes.
Tumblr media
They’re interrupted by Hunter, who shows up to kill them, when Amity tells him to stop because he’ll destroy his memories if he’s not careful. She burns the notes on another tree, revealing the memory there of Luz and him learning the light glyph.
Tumblr media
Willow and Amity get out of the mindscape. Hunter wakes up, to the relief of King and Eda.
He drags Willow, Amity, and Gus away to talk privately, and tells them the truth about being the Golden Guard. He assumes the worst, but Willow proves him wrong, saying that Hunter comes before his mask. Willow blushes here a bit.
Privately to Willow and Amity, he also expresses worry that he inadvertently outed his sister to them, and tells them not to tell anyone or her – it’s an important secret to her, and she might freak out if she finds out anyone knows. Amity doesn’t vibe with that, but agrees.

Master List | Chapter One
Tumblr media
We came to a compromise with the Collector. We let them free, and they wouldn’t harm anyone or change our world. At first he disagreed, saying how that was boring. But once they realized we wouldn’t let him go otherwise, he agreed.
And that was that. Life was peaceful…for the most part. The Emperor’s coven was no more. In fact covens were changed. No more sigil branding. No more locking away witches' powers. Instead, covens were turned into jobs basically, clubs if you will. With previous leadership experience, Lilith was asked to lead the Boiling Isles. She looked at Eda for approval and Eda just nodded with a grin.
Darius took Hunter under his wing. Hunter was hesitant to leave me at first, but I reassured him that we’d still see each other. Though he still slept over at my place often, and I thought that was redundant, but I didn’t complain. I slept better with him by my side anyways.
“How was class?” I asked Hunter as we sat by Luz and the rest for lunch.
“It was good,” Hunter said excitedly. “We’re learning to make this potion that makes the person drink it fall asleep!”
“Oooo,” I replied, intrigued. “That sounds cool!”
“I can’t believe everything is back to normal,” I heard Amity sigh, looking down at her food. “Well…as normal as it can get.”
I hummed in agreement, then turned to Luz, “Have you found a way to replicate the portal key yet?”
“I’m close,” Luz said with a determined grin. “I just don’t want to hurt King to get the Titan blood I’ll need.”
“Couldn’t we make one of those human things they use,” Gus chimed in. “I think it’s called a nodle?”
“I think you mean needle,” Willow corrected with a smile.
“You’re right!” Luz exclaimed, eyes shining. “Why didn’t I think of that?”
We all laughed, and the day passed quickly. I walked down the front steps, getting ready to go home.
“Hey (n/n),” Hunter called, holding my hand and stopping me.
“Hey love,” I replied back with a smile. Hunter never failed to blush at the pet names I let slip.
“D-don’t say that so loud!” Hunter exclaimed looking around. Most of the students were already gone though. “A-anyways, I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my place tonight, Darius said he wanted to formally meet you.”
“Oh,” I replied nervously. Last time we met…it wasn’t under the best of circumstances. But Luz explained how he joined CATS to help stop the day of unity. Remembering how prim and proper he always seemed, I glanced down at my worn uniform and nervously fiddled with my tunic. “I’d have to ask my moms first…”
“...is something wrong?” Hunter asked, worry clear in his eyes.
“It’s silly really,” I chuckled awkwardly. “I just…will I meet his standards?”
Hunter blinked, taking in what I said, but it only fueled my anxiety.
“(Y/n), you are the best thing that’s happened to me,” Hunter started to rant, a slight blush dotting his cheeks, but looked at me seriously. “And Darius…he isn’t like Belos. He’s happy when I’m happy…though he does like to poke fun at me sometimes.” I smiled shyly and looked down, noticing that he intertwined our fingers while speaking.
“Okay,” I nodded, squeezing his hand. “I still have to ask my moms, and I want to go home and change first.”
“That’s fine,” Hunter smiled, pulling our hands up and kissing the back of mine. “I’ll go get ready too.”
With that we parted ways and I quickly flew home.
“Slow down, you’ll trip,” Mom scolded me as I nearly threw off my shoes. “What’s got you so excited anyways?”
I paused before turning into my room, looking back at mom, “I was wondering if I could go to Hunter’s place for the night.”
“Okay,” Mom agreed quickly. “But remember, if anything happens be safe-”
“MOM!” I shouted in embarrassment. “Nothing like that is going to happen.”
“Just making sure,” I heard her say as I quickly shut the door, wanting to leave that conversation in the past.
Now onto the next problem…what do I wear? I looked through my closet; too bright, too goth, should I wear something formal? Ugh why was this so hard?
I ended up with something in between formal and casual. Grabbing my satchel, I made sure I packed some pajamas, had my scroll, and packed a book for good measure. Nodding to myself, I walked out and Momma said goodbye on my way out. Once I stood outside, Cinder flew onto my shoulder, chirping lightly.
“I know,” I mumbled, still nervous. “Let’s get this over with, shall we?”
Chattering back, Cinder turned into a staff, and I began my flight. During the flight I tried to calm myself. Landing in front of the giant house…almost a manor, I took a deep breath before knocking on the door. It opened quickly and an abomination stood in front of me. Then it stepped to the side and I took that as a sign to walk in. Hunter ran into view, a wide smile when he saw me.
“(Y/n)!” He exclaimed, making his way towards me. I noticed that he wore his normal outfit and I felt embarrassed at the fact I dressed up. He pulled me into a hug, snapping me from my thoughts.
I chuckled slightly, “It’s only been about an hour sweetheart.”
Footsteps echoed and Hunter pulled away from me speedily. He tried to look nonchalant as Darius raised his eyebrow at us.
He looked me up and down with a judging stare before saying, “At least someone has class.” Hunter sputtered for a response and I tried to hide my laughter. Maybe he wasn’t as scary as I thought.
“I’m Darius,” He introduced himself. “I’d like to sweep our last meeting under the rug.”
“I’m (y/n),” I responded, fidgeting with my hands. “And I would as well.”
“Come children,” Darius motioned, turning around. “Dinner is just about ready, so let us take our seats.”
Hunter and I sat next to each other as Darius took the head seat. Soon, an abomination came in and set the food on the table. I looked on in wonder as there was anything you could think of. Fruits, vegetables, meats, and more!
“So tell me,” Darius spoke up, pouring himself some apple blood. “How did…this…manage?”
I just shrugged, looking down at the food I took, “I’m…not entirely sure myself. It just sorta happened.”
“What do you plan on doing after school?” He asked.
“I was thinking of opening my own pet store,” I said sheepishly.
“Really?” Hunter asked, looking at me in shock.
“Yeah,” I nodded with a smile. “I guess I never said anything about that, huh?”
“How quaint,” I turned to Darius to see him smiling softly. I felt the tension release as I realized that Darius was really kind.
Darius continued asking questions as we ate. Slight banter between Darius and Hunter amused me greatly. After we were finished eating, Hunter tried to drag me to his room before Darius could say anything more to embarrass him…but it was too late.
“Remember what I said earlier,” Darius chimed behind us. “Keep your door open, little prince.”
Hunter blushed furiously before going to close the door behind us, only to leave it open a crack.
“You were right,” Hunter groaned, face planting on his bed. “That was terrible.”
“That actually went pretty good,” I laughed sitting next to him. Hunter didn’t move so I patted his head, “Is there any way I could make it better?”
Hunter moved his head to face me, then promptly pointed to his cheek with a small pout. I grinned, overwhelmed with adoration as I leaned down and pecked his cheek. He turned and sat up next to me, looking off sheepishly, a grin showing his gap tooth. I grabbed his face and turned it towards me as I peppered kisses all over his face. His smile spread wider as he chuckled happily.
“You,” I said, kissing his forehead after. “Are,” I continued, kissing his left cheek. “Too,” Next was his right cheek. “Cute,” I finished by kissing his nose.
Hunter raised his hand and held it over mine, his eyes then met mine, “I love you.”
My breath hitched at his confession and my entire body warmed up. My eyes widened and my mouth gaped open. My heart fluttered at speeds I didn’t think were healthy. Yes, I offhandedly called him love, but that was a pet name. And although I let the implication linger, I haven’t straight up confessed.
“I love you too,” I whispered back, like if I spoke any louder the moment would shatter. Hunter’s face inched closer and I felt my breath get heavier at the tension. My hands twitched against his face as I leaned in as well, stopping inches before his, “May I?”
Hunter nodded, gulping, “Yes please.”
I closed the gap, our lips touching tenderly, lightly. I started to feel nervous since I’ve never kissed anyone before. I let my hands slide to his neck as Hunter dropped one of his on my waist. I pushed my lips to his a little harder before pulling away. I opened my eyes slowly and bathed in the sight before me. There Hunter sat, eyes half lidded, red painting his face, lips parted.
“Th-that was…” Hunter trailed off, not taking his eyes off me. I tackled him in a hug laughing.
Things have finally taken a turn for the better.

Tumblr media
Come to think of it, in Labyrinth Runners Amity AND Gus, longtime friends of Willow, both struggle with shaking off that perception of Willow as weak and timid. It’s obviously worse and a greater highlight for Amity, and essentially what allowed their broken friendship to happen due to Amity never bothering to trust Willow and communicate with her regarding her parents’ ultimatum and what they should do with it...
Tumblr media
But even Gus struggled for a bit; Because for most of his friendship with Willow, he’s known her as that timid and insecure witch! Now Gus is of course much more open-minded and ready to embrace the real Willow, something he even corrects his friend over; But at the same time, you can’t blame him for believing that Willow might ever relapse, because she DID upon realizing she made a mistake in trusting Hunter the first time, and Gus was there to see it!
Tumblr media
We shouldn’t really blame Gus for accepting a potential relapse on Willow’s part, nor should Gus do the same to himself. And I don’t want to say his friendship with Willow is any lesser than hers with Hunter’s, they both offer different yet equally good things; Hunter has only ever known and sees Willow as she is now and has secretly always been, and that’s freeing to Willow, like a fresh start! While Gus DOES have the memory of how Willow struggled but helped her through it, and that’s also valid.
Tumblr media
Honestly, now I’m interested in a potential arc explore if Luz also struggles with seeing Willow as strong and no longer weak... If she even needs one, because she’s known Willow as a strong witch longer than she’s known her as a weak one, even if the latter was her first impression; In their third meeting together, Luz outright appraises Willow as one of the strongest witches she knows alongside Eda, so she clearly admires the girl and is certain of Willow’s power to a foolhardy extent, hence Wing it like Witches. Yes Luz tried to help Willow for her with the memory photo, but the strength of a friend doesn’t matter to Luz because she’ll always want to prove herself useful to them, it’s not the friends’ shortcomings that are the issue but her own alone.
Tumblr media
And now that I’m discussing it; Like Luz, Gus is kind of a people-pleaser (like trying to get his HAS to pay attention) and so that enables him to overextend and offer himself so earnestly, which just makes him even easier to take advantage of, and thus more betrayed. While also affirming that this ‘useful’ part of him (his magic; his slacking classmate and the Glandus kids only cared about that) was the only aspect of Gus that actually got people’s attention, so he may as well just take what he can get and accept that, right? Like Luz thinking all she’s good for is being helpful to her friends, offering big gestures of kindness, but dreading the idea of admitting she needs help because she doesn’t want to be a burden and undercut how helpful she is... Both of these kids have BAD cases of RSD.

Why the Amity and Willow B Plot in Labyrinth Runners Has More Meaning Than You Think
Labyrinth Runners is a well liked episode in the Owl House fandom. In fact, for me, it’s my absolute favorite episode in the whole show. Many people love it because of Hunter and Gus’s friendship and the way it fleshed out it’s characters despite this episode being the only one without the main trio. However, there is one part of this episode that people seem mixed on or at the very least, think it’s the weakest part of the episode: the Amity and Willow B plot. A lot of people dislike this B plot, saying that it was rushed and didn’t conclude Amity and Willow’s conflict very well. But I beg to differ.
Tumblr media
The B plot is basically about Amity being ignorant to Willow’s magical abilities and progress as a witch. She hasn’t payed attention to the progress Willow has made and still thinks Willow is as weak as she used to be. So Amity tries to protect Willow and encourage her progress as a witch.
Tumblr media
I liked seeing Willow and Amity having this lack of communication. We know that they care for each other, but so much has changed since they’ve had a deep interaction with each other, and Amity hasn’t seen the full potential of Willow’s magic until this point. This is something I think many fans don’t realize. There are only three episodes where Amity saw Willow’s magic power: I Was a Teenage Abomination, Hooty’s Moving Hassle, and Wing it Like Witches. The first of which was very uncontrolled, the second one was about a conjuring rather than direct magic, and the third one didn’t show a lot of very powerful stuff (not to mention that we don’t know if Amity outright saw it). Alas, none of them accurately show Willow’s true powers as a witch.
Tumblr media
In their past encounters, Amity shamed Willow for being bad at magic. In this episode, Amity is trying to be there for Willow and not bully her like she used to. She wants to let Willow know that it’s ok to not be a super strong witch, and she wants to protect her because she thinks she has failed her as a friend. But Amity failed to see that Willow has changed, and doesn’t let bullying get to her anymore. She’s strong as she is, and she sees that when Willow lifts a bookcase off her back, metaphorically lifting a burden that has been weighing Willow down: this perception of weakness.
Tumblr media
Willow is a kind person who puts others before herself. She feels a need to prove herself and put on a tough personality. She doesn’t want anyone to think of herself as weak, and I like how she doesn’t want to outright call Amity out on being wrong. She understands that Amity is struggling with the friendship as well and is trying her best, although it still hurts that Amity doesn’t see her as how she wants to be seen: strong. But her one line saying she’ll need some help is also important towards her growth. She is strong, but Willow also understands that strength isn’t necessarily just brute force. It’s also being able to let others help you. Willow has not only had some development in brute strength, but emotional and mental strength as well.
Tumblr media
The main highlight is Amity wanting to protect Willow, but we also see that Willow feels incredibly independent and that she doesn’t need any help at all. They reach a healthy compromise because too much help and not enough help can both be bad. They learn to cooperate. By the end, Amity trusts Willow’s abilities and Willow is open to Amity’s help. It’s a lesson for both of them, not just Amity. And once they learn that lesson, they’re able to perform at a more powerful level than they were performing before.

Note
I don't think they'll pull an oblivious Luz 2.0 in regards to Willow's feelings around Hunter bc she's way more observant than we think when she caught onto Amity's crush back in Wing It like Witches. I feel like she's chalking up Hunter's awkwardness due to his neglect of hardly experiencing love and affection his whole life; meaning that he definitely has to make the first move if this ship is ready to sail.
Oh I can totally get behind this. Willow is VERY observant and it's not exactly a secret that Hunter is a neglected and abused child. Her seeing him acting uncomfortable and sweaty and weird when talking to her wouldn't be an unusual thing to see for someone who has... a LOT of baggage like he does. And, I mean, it is definitely part of the reason. He does have his uncomfortable moments and he's a VERY awkward person, because this is all new territory for him. He doesn't know HOW to react with unconditional love from many different people and healthy friendships.
But it does make it harder when he realizes his feelings for Willow and she just.... doesn't understand. And, honestly, even if she DOES have feelings for him back, she still doesn't see the reciprocation because she just can't separate his awkwardness from his terrible past. It's honestly a mess, really.

Camila Noceda and Flawed Parenting
A perspective by a flawed person with loving but extremely flawed parents
I’m genuinely baffled at some people’s hostile reaction towards Camila. Like… do any of you have flawless parents that always know the best solution instantly, make no mistakes and never get emotional?
My parents are great. They’re super supportive and I love them very, very much. Overall I think I got very lucky in the parents department.
But god, they are far from flawless. I still live at home, and despite all the good, there’s moments when I can’t take my dad anymore. He’s the kind of dad that stayed up until two am to help me with homework when I was in school, and he does so, so many things to make sure I’m happy. I know that. But despite all of this, I have told my mom in emotional moments before that I’m not sure if I can keep living with him, because for all his good sides, he has a couple of fatal flaws that sometimes make him unbearable.
My mom listens to me and is very open to being educated on certain topics, but she has her flaws, too. She hates when I fight with my dad, and gets so torn up about it that I’ve once apologized to my dad out of fear of her getting into a car crash otherwise. She’s very vocal about certain flaws of mine, and sometimes uses the things she does for me as leverage against me when she gets very emotional.
And both of my parents pay a lot more attention to my brother because he needs it more, because he’s more of a “problem child” while I “seem so capable” even when I’m not.
And guess what? I’m not a perfect child. I make mistakes sometimes, some of them pretty severe. Just like Luz, I’m the kind of person that struggles to communicate certain issues of mine to her parents. I’m stubborn, and when I get emotional, I say very hurtful things sometimes. So do they.
And this has nothing to do with my parents being horrible or abusive. They’re neither of those things.
The takeaway from this should not be that my entire family is made up of terrible people, but that we’re all flawed in our own ways, despite loving each other and trying our best. There’s things about my parents I wish I could change, and there are things about me that my parents wish they could change. And to an extent, that’s perfectly normal.
In our strengths and flaws and frustration with each other, we’re all human.
Specific, spoiler-y Camila and Luz things under the cut since this got very long.
We have no indication that Camila has a pattern of emotionally manipulating Luz. Her “emotional manipulation” as I’ve seen some people put it, is people for some reason thinking that the second you become an adult, you’re suddenly perfect and can no longer make mistakes, lest you’ll be dubbed horrible and abusive.
The whole concept is absurd to me. There is no perfect way to parent. There simply isn’t. Of course, there’s some genuinely abusive patterns that are horrible and inexcusable. But out of the parenting styles that aren’t, which one works depends on a number of factors, one of which absolutely includes that every child is different and has different needs. Camila is an amazing parent for Vee, giving the kid everything she’s ever longed for. She’s not an ideal parent for Luz. And that’s because Luz and Vee have fundamentally different needs.
Likewise, Luz is a pretty great child for Eda, but not a perfect fit for Camila. Luz relates to Eda a lot more than she relates to her mom, and that’s why the two of them have an easier time understanding each other. Both of these mother-child relationships exist, and one is not more doomed to fail than the other, but I think you’ll agree that the better you understand someone and where they’re coming from, the easier it is to communicate, pick up on certain signs, etc.
As mom and daughter, Camila and Luz are both flawed and have issues seeing the other’s perspective because of how different they are. And we should simultaneously acknowledge both of their roles in the issue and give both of them the space to learn and grow past those issues.
Luz struggles to communicate her problems. She doesn’t want to burden people in the demon realm, and it’s a given that this started out as not wanting to burden her mom. So she keeps quiet about her issues. Camila tries hard but can’t read her daughter’s mind, so there’s only so much she can do to understand and help the way Luz needs her to. Hell, Eda, who Luz is a lot more open with than her mom, struggles to help her, because Luz doesn’t tell her what’s wrong. I don’t see anyone calling Eda a terrible mom for that.
Camila tries her best, but she struggles to understand her daughter because of this, and because of how fundamentally different they are. She loves Luz’s creativity, we actively see her supporting it in the new episode—she keeps the weird stuff Luz made because she thinks Luz will regret throwing it away, and even plays along in what she assumes to be some elaborate role play because “she’s glad Luz kept her creativity even though it’s not made things easy for her at school”. But at the beginning of the show, said creativity got out of hand and people got hurt. Luz could’ve gotten hurt. So of course Camila had to interfere. I love Luz dearly, but she thought it was okay to bring snakes to school and set off fireworks inside a school building. Creativity is great. Doing reckless stuff that causes people to get hurt is not.
In sending Luz to camp, Camila tried to have someone else fix her issue because she didn’t know how to help Luz. That was a mistake, and a bad one at that, but she’s realizing that. She looks disheartened when Vee tries to throw out Luz’s stuff, because she never meant to change her daughter or take that part of her away. She just thought Luz needed a reality check—which, for the record, is something the narrative actually agrees with.
Luz spends her time in the demon realm getting reality check after reality check, realizing that even her ideal fantasy world where she has everything she always wanted doesn’t mean she’s free of consequences. She goes overboard constantly, causing:
-Eda to be forced to fly into a trap because Luz is chasing a fantasy (Witches before Wizards)
-Eda to almost be branded by her sister because Luz doesn’t think through why Eda doesn’t use magic to publicly announce her presence constantly (Once Upon a Swap)
-Eda and the twins to get kidnapped by a Slitherbeast because Luz stole Amity’s wand (Adventures in the Elements)
-Her friends to get hurt when she goes overboard trying to help Willow (Wing it like Witches)
-Eda to be captured and almost petrified because Luz thought she could just steal from the Emperor with no consequences in an attempt to help (Agony of a Witch)
I’m like 90% sure these aren’t even all. None of those make her a terrible person, for the record, but as all humans are, she is flawed and makes bad choices. She learns from these experiences and matures, just like her mom had hoped she would at camp. She’s also made friends there, which was another thing Camila wanted for her daughter.
You’ll probably realize that a lot of Luz’s behaviors I mentioned follow one of two patterns: 1. Luz’s idealized fantasy world causing problems, when she walks around with rose tinted glasses and gets people in trouble in the process because she hasn’t thought about the consequences, and 2. Luz trying to help someone she loves, but instead making things worse in the progress. The issue with this one is often that she doesn’t communicate her ideas/listen to the people she’s trying to help—like when Willow and Gus said they’ve had enough of Grudgby, or how she never actually talks to Eda about the healing hat idea before doing something reckless.
…does the latter one sound familiar to you at all? No? Because it’s the exact same thing that Camila did.
Some of the things Luz does are reckless and actively endanger others and herself, and that’s something that I think we need to acknowledge before judging Camila. As Luz’s mom, it’s Camila’s job to interfere in those situations. That she made a mistake while trying to protect Luz doesn’t make her a terrible person, especially as, again, the narrative proves her right to an extent.
I’m not saying her making Luz promise to come back and stay isn’t something that hurt Luz—it absolutely is. But it was born out of desperation. She’s emotional and in shock. She’s so full of pain and regret. She just wants her fourteen year old daughter home safe, and there’s nothing abusive or even morally ambiguous about that.
From Luz’s perspective, what she says is absolutely heartbreaking, but from Camila’s, it’s perfectly reasonable. I doubt Camila has the full picture, but even if she does, she’s had a full fifteen seconds to process that her daughter has not only been lying to her for months, but chose to leave her, and is in the demon realm of all places. Of course she’d be emotional and upset about that! Who wouldn’t? Camila isn’t a robot. If she’d been calm about this I’d be way more concerned, honestly.
My parents don’t get mad that easily, but if I would lie to them for weeks on end, they’d be pissed off too, not even taking the running away from home part into account. That’s a normal thing. People don’t like being lied to. Camila is absolutely devastated in that moment because she’s scared that Luz left because she hates her, when Luz actively states that her leaving wasn’t about her mom—which is another thing we should really be acknowledging.
Abusive parents suck and abuse should obviously never be apologized or trivialized, but saying something hurtful in the heat of the moment isn’t the same thing as being an abusive parent. My parents have done this. I’ve done this. And yes, those things can be emotionally manipulative, but there’s a huge difference in whether that’s a habit or a person speaking out of hurt and desperation in a very specific context. I doubt there’s anyone on the entire planet that hasn’t had a bad moment where they’ve said something like this because they were hurting. People lash out when they hurt, and they beg for reassurance when they’re scared. That’s something we all do.
The whole mindset of “all parents have to be perfect and can never get upset or make any mistakes” is harmful as hell, and honestly also very unrealistic. No parent is perfect, and especially people like me who have a relationship with their parents that’s very good overall should know that.
Once you have a child, parenting is a non-stop learning process, every day for the rest of your life. Taking away that room to grow and expecting perfection isn’t helping anyone, especially not struggling single parents.
And I see Camila as someone who is very willing to learn, because at the end of the day, all she wants is for Luz to be happy. Let’s give her some time to wrap her head around this whole situation. Let’s see what she says once she sees for herself how happy Luz is in that world, may it be via the videos eventually coming through or Camila visiting and meeting Luz’s found family, her friends and her girlfriend.
Ultimately, I don’t think Camila will force Luz to stay at home, but we have to give her some time. She wants what’s best for Luz, and she’s gonna need some convincing that a dangerous magical world is what’s best. I feel like that’s very normal considering the circumstances.
Her and Luz need to work on their communication on both ends, they both have things to learn, but I’m certain they’ll manage to fix their relationship in the long run.
If the bunk bed is any indication, I think Vee is gonna stay in the human realm permanently while Luz sleeps at home but keeps attending Hexside in the daytime. That feels like a solution that keeps everyone happy, and allows Luz to spend time with all the people she loves. I can’t see her being forced to choose at the end.
As a closing statement: Eda isn’t an ideal mom, Amity isn’t an ideal friend or girlfriend and neither is Luz, Lilith isn’t an ideal sister… but that’s because no one is ever an ideal anything. Being flawed is a big part of being human. Everyone has different facets to their personality. Their flaws are what makes them such great, relatable, believable characters.
And I feel the same way about Camila. She’s an extremely believable character that reminds me of my own parents, flawed but very loving nonetheless.
(Also honestly, I think it’s pretty telling that some of you guys immediately bash the black single mom that’s obviously trying her hardest while giving the benefit of the doubt to Alador, who has been portrayed as neglecting and threatened his six year old daughter on screen. This was already a thing before we knew much about either of them, and I’m disappointed but unfortunately not very surprised that it still is.)

"Labyrinth Runners" promotional art analysis
Let’s analyze the new promotional arts we got today for “Labyrinth runners”!
First we have arguably the biggest reveal of the participants for the episode. Seems like Gus’ A plot (involving the Illusion Coven Head!) would run parallel to a potential B plot involving Amity and Willow. Fortunately this means that we may finally get a true reconciliation between those two as they attempt to deal with whatever danger the ep will throw with them.
We can also see Hunter at the bottom, in his new ragged look being involved in the Hexside plot as well. I was wondering if he will be part of the B plot or A, but the third promo art suggests that him and Gus might team up. In all likelihood the unlikely ally is Hunter in the end. So the main participants will be Gus, Amity, Willow, Hunter and the Illusion Head.
As for the plot, from the summary we were given and based on the presence of the Illusion Coven Head and the guards, them being at Hexside suggest only one thing. Belos is sending them to potentially recruit and brand with sigils as many kids as they can before the Day of Unity. Gus would be central in potentially thwarting said plot while he deals with advanced level of illusion magic. Akin or better than the one we saw in "Through the Looking Glass". And another curious thing as well, is the lack of King and Luz in the promo material. I'm suspecting that "Labyrinth Runners", is happening at the same time as "Edge of the World".
Tumblr media
This leads me to the next promo art that seems to depict objects representing said main participants. Some are more clear like the vine covered in abomination goo, which obviously stands for Amity and Willow while the little mirror, is the earring that the Illusion Coven head has been shown to wear.
The walrus bag is a bit harder to connect but once I remembered that Gus wore a walrus onesie in “Wing it like Witches”, it was pretty clear as well. Now the messenger bag is kind of a doozy.
Of the main five that are supposed to appear in the ep, only Hunter is left but as far as we know he hasn't been show with such a bag. That leads me to believe that it is more symbolical, even if he acquires the bag in the ep. After “Hollow Mind”, Hunter is one of the few who know of Belos’ true nature and plans. Since he is involved in the Hexside plot, he will be sort of a “messenger” who tells his new friends about the new info he has acquired.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally we have the most vague of the promos. The only thing I can say with any certainty is Hunter’s involvement with Gus’ plot, seeing as how Flapjack is perched on his arm. The eye however, suggests a number of things.
Representing the eye of truth? One that could see beyond the illusions, not only magic created ones but also seeing/learning the truth about Belos’ plans (possibly from Hunter).
Some form of oracle magic, that let's you use said ability to see through illusions? There has been hints about Gus being interested in that field, like the artifact he picked up in Belos' castle.
Gus gaining the ability to see through said illusions, by temporary giving his eye as a price. Whether that would be permanent or not is uncertain but Flapjack being perched on him, may suggest it won’t be as temporary.
Glowing eyes are also associated with one getting their sigil. Could it be possible that Gus would end up with one in the end, even if it is against his will.

The Owl House review:
Season 2 episode 11 Follies at the Coven Day Parade part 3
Okey the photo on episode 17 of season 1 Wing It Like Witches and the one in this episode is the same:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still can’t with Luz expression  🤣 🤣 🤣
Tumblr media
I’m with Eda on this one, Kikimora put a lot of people that Luz care at stake without caring (Eda, Luz herself and Amity) In episode 19 of season 1 Young Blood Old Souls, episode 6 of season 2 Hunting Palismen and episode 9 of season 2 Eclipse Lake.
Tumblr media
Luz we know that you want to help her. But not everyone wants to be helped.
Tumblr media
Luz wants that everything goes well and help Kikimora with her mother, because of that insecurity she have with hers. But that won’t go away by doing that sweetie, but at the same time wanting to help Eda to contact with Raine and knowing the problem that’s another thing.
Tumblr media
We already know that Willow works out since some time ago Dana published a drawing of Willow working out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We all waited for this moment since season 1 episode 15 Understanding Willow.
This two finally got to talk alone.
Tumblr media
It seems that Amity still feels guilty even now. That’s a nice detail.
Tumblr media
We can tell by her body language, she’s moving her hands because she is nervous and doesn’t know what to say.
Tumblr media
Even Willow notices her discomfort, her expression chances when she looks at Amity.
Tumblr media
Amity takes all her frustration about Luz trying to hide that the fact that she really went to the human realm.  “Phune” “Phane”. It’s okey take your time.  “Her thingy at school” . (I needed to do it sorry XD )
Tumblr media
Such a mood indeed.
Tumblr media
Amity don’t beat yourself and it’s nice and so much positive seen that she doesn’t want to watch Luz’s phone. That reminds me to another parallel on episode 7 season 1 Lost in Language:
Tumblr media
Luz said back then that: “no one deserves this, because that was Amity’s privat thoughts.” I guess what I’m trying to imply is that Amity doesn’t want to see something that wasn’t for her or wasn’t mean to be seen by others, only Luz’s mom.
Tumblr media
Ummm Willow I don’t like seen you getting angry...
Tumblr media
Ohhh thanks I thought it would be something bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This cute moment reminds me of again the episode 17 season 1 Wing It Like Witches:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This moment for me it’s so important and significant. Even so their friendship is “restored” little by little, we can see at Willow’s expression that she wished it didn’t happen in the first place. What I see it’s a sad smile on her face. :(
On a side note we can see a picture of Willow, Luz and Gus in the background.
Tumblr media
Raine at first glare seems fine but I don’t know. That thing they have that “thorn” seems suspicious.
Tumblr media
“PEOPLE” Such a second mood here.
Tumblr media
“Such much calmer than before”... Ummm Kikimora if I remember correctly.
You did this to THEM (on episode 7 season 2 Eda’s requiem):
Tumblr media
So I don’t know what I have to think about Kikimora anymore.
Tumblr media
It’s really strange seen that Kikimora afraid of someone. Knowing her record in the show. Terra is a interesting name. ( meaning ”ground” maybe)
Tumblr media
Terraaa... What did you do to Raine!!! Why does they have headaches!?!
Tumblr media
Could you please DON’T... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUUUUU...
Stop hurting Raine pleeeeeaseee. :(
Tumblr media
I’m more worried that YOU ruin it and not Terra.
Tumblr media
Look the illusionist from episode 5 of season 2 Through The Looking Glass Ruins:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It shows that was Luz's idea.
Tumblr media
Reallyyyyy Luz
Tumblr media
Hooty’s WATCH!!! Not gross at all naaahhhh.
Tumblr media
Dana posted sketches about the episode and this is one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their expression tells everything. Dana posted something similar too:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luz you’re a terrible actress, but points for trying.  😂 😂 😂
Also, the scoop it should be exclusive for Amity, dear.
Tumblr media
And here comes the third mood. :)
Tumblr media
Aaaaand this is the closest that we seen about Luz and Raine meeting.
For now I guess.
Tumblr media
Amity to the rescue.
Tumblr media
This will hurt I can tell.
Tumblr media
Their memory was remplaced. Agggh darn you Terraaaa...
Tumblr media
Welp I guess Raeda angst again it is then.
Tumblr media
Terra Snapdragon, please go awaaaay lady.
Tumblr media
“Stealing is legal now” “I am your god”. Thank you Hooty for the comedy relief.  🤣 🤣 🤣
Tumblr media
Lady you sneaky little sssssss...
Tumblr media
snake, yeah snake.
Tumblr media
Uff good save Amity.
Tumblr media
sweet potato it is then.
Tumblr media
Yep the conformatorium a third time, not gonna happend.
yeah and this:
Tumblr media
Kikimora been still without blinking
Tumblr media
Look at them go skateboarding. It’s kinda snowy.
Tumblr media
It’s sad to see that Raine didn’t want to do this either.
Tumblr media
Raine is conflicted too. They have a confused look. It’s sad that Raine didn’t reconized the song that both of them played :(
Tumblr media
Eda is determined to bring them back at any cost  😭 😭 😭
Tumblr media
Even though Raine is brainwhased, they still cares about Eda a lot.  😢 😢 😢
It’s imperceptible but Raine have a tear on their eye.
Tumblr media
This is so sad, Raine is self conscious that they didn’t want to push Eda away and at the same time they protected her. Raine is definitely hurt.
Tumblr media
Amity’s suspicions are pretty much confirmed. She definitely knows Luz was hidding about travelling to the human realm.
Tumblr media
It was pretty obvious that she was going to betray you Luz. Since promotion is a very appealing word. 😒
Tumblr media
Now this confused me, since all this time Kikimora didn’t say anything about Amity and now out of nowhere she remembered that Amity was at Eclipse Lake and was the one who made the fire ruckus.
Tumblr media
Protective Luz + Hand holding(1)
Tumblr media
Amity dear that’s clearly a kamehameha. And you said at episode 9 season 2 Eclipse Lake, that DragonClaw Z was ancient:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The animation is so smoth. 😌 😌 😌
Tumblr media
The way that they look at each other. Awww.
Tumblr media
Luz you’re to pure for this realm.
Tumblr media
Hand holding(2)
Tumblr media
Oh no not you again.
Tumblr media
What are you a spoiled child or what.
Tumblr media
Her heart just broke right there.
Tumblr media
Welp  bye I guess, geez Belos really is persistant.
Tumblr media
Babies, if I remember corretly this is the third Luz hugs Amity.
Awww 😍 😍 😍
Tumblr media
They’re going to talk about the fact that Luz lie about the portal.
Tumblr media
Luz seems to be very conflicted, but Amity didn’t want to push her to tell her.
That’s a healthy relationship right there.
Tumblr media
Amity wants to know more about Luz not only the good things also the things that it’s difficult to talk about. Luz said that helping Kikimora with her mom could help with her situation. But it wasn’t.
Tumblr media
Luz trust to tell Amity about her travel to the human realm.
Tumblr media
Holding hands(3)
Tumblr media
The gang is finally together.  Holding hands(4)
Tumblr media
Yep Eda is right again. Belos words means nothing.
Tumblr media
Such a mood (4). Her new from the sneek peak it’s from Amity braiding her hair,
 Also Willow 💅
Tumblr media
Holding hands(5) Uncertain future.
Tumblr media
Taking things one day at a time.
This chapter was a roller coaster of emotions. Comedic moments between King and Hooty, cute moments with Luz and Amity, Willow and   Amity talking again as friends and reconnecting, Raeda angst and Kikimora trying to be useful to the emperor and Terra watching over her.
*edit* Also I wanted to say that it’s nice that Amity wanted to learn spanish for Luz, and a lot of people headcanon this, on drawings and fantictions, well it’s amaizing that this fact is canon :)
I’ll review episode 12 tomorrow.

Luz’s Palisman Predictions
Luz’s Palisman is a question that has been on the fandoms minds for a while, and while surfing around I saw three main theories circulating, and I am going to group them all here in accordance with their likelihood, from least to most likely (in my mind)
Blue Jay
-Dana’s (the creator of toh) new twitter icon has a blue jay in it, which has raised some eyebrows
Tumblr media
-If Luz had a bird palisman it would fit in with the Clawthornes’ palismens who are all birds and symbolize how she is a part of the family, even if she is a bit different from them, all their palismen are birds of prey and hers is not, they are all witches while she is a human, but don’t underestimate her or blue jays, they may be small but they are not afraid to go on the attack
-Golden Guard aka Hunter has a cardinal palisman, blue jays and cardinals look rather similar in shape but have contrasting colors, and if the fandom gets its wish he is likely going to be adopted into the Owl House’s found family, and since they have such sibling vibes it makes sense for them to have similar Palismen
-Palisman wood is blue so a blue jay being made out of it would be fitting
Tumblr media
Snek
-In the title sequence, there is very obviously owlbert on a staff, but next to it there looks to be an upside down staff with an S on it, and snakes’ bodies often look like S shapes
Tumblr media
-A caduceus, a staff with snakes on it, is a symbolize of medicine and you will often see it on buildings who practice medical care, Luz’s mother is a nurse which gives her this connection to medicine, also there’s the whole thing with Eda being cursed and needing medicine to keep it manageable, something Luz often helps with
Tumblr media
-In the first episode Luz brings snakes to school and later we see Azura (a character from her favorite book series that Luz identifies with) fighting a giant snake, and in the recent episode (eclipse lake) when she gets sick she thinks her arms are snakes, clearly girl has a thing for snakes and they keep getting brought up in relation to her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bat
-Luz has a bat style phone case
Tumblr media
-When communicating with Amity via tamagotchi, it shows a bat talking to a white cat and Amity’s palisman is a white cat, foreshadowing Luz’ may be a bat
Tumblr media
-Dana made official art of Luz’s pokemon team and one of her pokemon was a Noibat, a bat like pokemon
Tumblr media
-In the Owl House the Bat Queen used to be a palisman herself and she shelters other palismen who were mistreated, Luz has had several interactions with the Bat Queen, one where she had to prove herself because she accidentally hurt Owlbert and now the Bat Queen seems to respect her, which could be further foreshadowing about Luz’ palisman being a bat
-And while bats are not birds, they are animals with wings that can fly which can lean into Luz’ palisman being partially connected to the Clawthornes since she is a part of their family being adopted by Eda, along with King who is likely to grow wings since the man/creature people are theorizing is his dad (or some other kind of relative) has wings
Tumblr media
They’re all gonna be a big winged family (esp with harpy Eda lol)

Willow and Amity's relationship rewrite: I Was A Teenage Abomination
In Understanding Willow there is a reveal that Amity was forced by her parents to stop being friends with Willow and later influenced by her new friends to bully her. This contradicts a bit with Amity's first appearance in I was a Teenage Abomination where she bullies Willow; they are completely alone in the woods, she is doing it completely willingly and seems to enjoy it.
The actual reason behind this is probably because at the time of making this episode, the writers haven't came up with the idea of Amity and Willow being childhood friends yet.
The in universe explanation could be that over the years Amity convinced herself that Willow actually deserves to be bullied (sort as a self-defence mechanism?). Or she is trying to bully Willow out of the Abomination track. I actually wouldn't mind that seeing either of that explored and called out to an extent. But, sadly, after Wing It Like Witches the show completely forgot about developing and exploring their dynamic.
So for my angsty Amillow (platonic and not) needs I'm going to rewrite this mess!
Episode rewrite rant/ideas:
The first time we (and Luz) see Amity is in a group with Boscha and other mean girls. The girls make of Willow for having low talent in Abomination magic pretty much like Amity did in the og. They compare her to Amity - the top of the class. The whole scene Amity seems disinterested in the whole process of bullying, probably studying and/or practicing her magic (to distance herself from the situation), safe for the parts where she revels in praise. Maybe, when prompted by the other girls, throws in some half-hearted insults. The purpose of this scene is the same - introduce Amity, the fact she is a top student and takes great pride in that and the fact that Willow is bullied for being bad at magic. To the "first time viewer" (and Luz) this could still paint Amity as a cold Queen Bee who let's minions to the dirty work.
Some of the Amity's "insults" could in some way imply that Willow should change her track (partly because she is still scared that her parents might expell Willow). I imagine, Willow had an interest in plants even before getting her powers, so Amity would probably think that Plant track would be more suitable for Willow.
After the group leaves, Willow gets angry (the power of her anger is double explained by the fact that she was bullied and her ex best friend just stood there and watched, maybe even encouraged it in Willow's mind).
Maybe Willow had an idea of going to the Abomination course not only because of "better opportunities", but maybe it was originally an attempt to get close to Amity again or to prove that she is not powerless.
Willow: "Please, don't tell me you saw happened earlier-" Luz: "Actually i did! Who do they think they are to treat you like this?!" Willow: "*groans* Amity Blight and her friends - the best witches in the whole school." (Insert headcanon that the rest of the mean girl group are also best students of their respective tracks)
Maybe Luz even confuses Boscha for Amity, since Boscha seems like the meanest girl, yet Willow always focuses on Amity when she complains about the bullying. This would be a false clue that Amity is the main bully here even if she doesn't show it. In reality, her anger stems from their shared history.
I imagine, if Amity found out that Willow was actually good at magic, she would probably with a mix of hope that their friendship could be restored and frustration because all those years where she had to push away her only friend were actually for nothing.
But since Amity saw Willow's bad attempt at Abomination earlier this morning, she quickly turns suspicious. Since she had to work hard to become a top student, she hates cheaters and she hates the idea of Willow being a cheater.
When her top student badge gets snatched off from her, Amity's reaction is similar to the canon one. Her whole self-worth is tied that badge, plus, as we already established her friend group, this could threaten her authority in the group. I imagine she gets a tunnel vision from this point on - she is focused on the badge only, nothing else matters.
(More related to the Lumity stuff but) I don't think it a good idea to have Amity gleefully watching as Luz nearly gets dissected. Since she thought that "the abomination" was alive. It would be better if there was a more explicit hint that it's just her and Bump's plan to get a confession out of Willow or Luz.
I think that's all for this episode! Thank you for reading! :>

Boscha Ask: If people like seeing bullies slowly not be jerks, why not allow Boscha to have an arc? It could have been really compelling.
(I accidentally posted this ask when I meant to queue it. Wanted to post it later so sorry the full ask isn't here. I've included the main thrust and relevant parts of the ask for my response.) You're absolutely right that it can be extremely satisfying and worthwhile to watch a bully become a better person. To see them let their guard down and see the worth in others. For them to go from defensive and worried about any weakness to being able to open up.
TOH had one of those already and her name was Amity and we all saw how that worked out right? And she was a genuine, primary member of the cast. THAT'S why I argue that the show in S2 actually used Boscha well. She appeared for a couple gags when it was the right time to do so and otherwise vanished. Her role was after all as a small time antagonist and a marker for Amity's progression. She is not Sasha who has a deep, personal tie to both Anne and who Anne was before Amphibia and that is the point of her existence. That's why I say that after Winging it Like Witches, she has no reason to be here anymore because Amity is past Boscha, past most of Hexide, and this ISN'T Amity's story.
Or hell, how about a different character who after their main narrative use was up decided to stick around, albeit briefly: Lilith. She got mistreated AWFULLY by the show because she got in the way of Hunter's narrative purpose. She couldn't continue to be a character for the sake of the new villain. She could only be a joke. And while Boscha is just the romantic interest's old bestie, this is arguably the second main character of the show's SISTER and the PRIMARY ANTAGONIST of the first season.
Just covering a proper redemption for Amity and letting the fallout of S1 actually have an effect on the show, including what should have been Lilith's rage at Belos, could have easily taken up the main plot of at least half a season. Hell, in the show we got, Lumity IS the focus effectively for S2A plotwise with how little movement is in that half season. S1 sets up threads with just those two, ignoring Eda, Luz and Hunter, that are connected to the world building and drama of the world and plot itself that evaluating it... Making someone who is almost a one off in S1 and a supporting member of a supporting cast member seemed like the wrong move to me even when I was writing her before S2 came out.
And here's the ultimate rub: I AGREE. There IS a story there. I wrote a fuck ton of it with The Power of Love. Little Miss Rich Witch flips main character's perspective over to Amity, not Luz, and makes it her story in an original context. And do you know the part of TOH's identity that story focuses primarily on? The school drama, where a school bully can be a primary, ongoing member of the cast. TOH wants instead to have a plot that's grand fantasy and that's NOT where Boscha lies, even if she would have made sense as a member of the EC eventually.
Which, tangent, for as much fun as Sport in a Storm's scene is with her, I did one off for it at one point, it also creates the problem that Boscha didn't see Hunter and try to sign up for the EC despite having no reason to not want the power that would give her.
The problem with your position is a problem with a part of modern ship culture. You love a character so OF COURSE including them as a main character would have been great for the story overall because you'd get more of them. But... Is that actually true? I love Boscha. I think she had a lot of narrative potential that was never tapped into but that was for the best because this isn't a romantic school drama.
It's an adventure, fantasy comedy and the fact that we got Boscha at all out of that is almost condemnatory of the series as much as it is praising it. Sorry.

Tag Team AU Synopsis – Agony of a Witch + Young Blood Old Souls
Synopsis Masterpost Link
Previous Part [Enchanting Grom Fright + Wing it Like Witches]
Next Part [Intermission: Yesterday's Lie]
Season finale, fellas. Season 1 was basically a build up to this moment and to the rest of season 2. I'm just really proud of this one.
Agony of a Witch
Lilith tries getting into the Owl House like canon, and fails pretty miserably like canon. BUT, in the aftermath when the dust has settled, Hunter flies in on Flapjack, enters the Owl House, and is seen by Lilith (who knows his face). Lilith connects the dots, and knows what she has to do in order to capture Eda.
Meanwhile, Hunter is getting ideas about officially leaving the Emperor’s Coven.
Tumblr media
He makes a plan to head back to the castle one last time, grabbing Luz, and getting the hell out of dodge. Also, Eda Magic Spaghetti setup for the witch’s wool cloak.
CUT TO THE EMPEROR’S CASTLE!!! Luz is leading the tour group! She sees Amity and it’s cute, she’s excited. Amity is So Guilty but also blushing.
At some point, Lilith comes in. Luz takes Kikimora’s place in canon by pointing her out, but she’s a lot nicer about it.
Tumblr media
Amity breaks off from the group at this point, and follows Lilith to the throne room. She sees Belos eat the palisman like Luz does in canon, and has a similar reaction. She runs back to the group.
Lilith reports to Belos.
Tumblr media
Cut to Hunter! Who changes into his GG uniform and is entering the castle.
Tumblr media
So, fight time. Hunter is very outnumbered, but he manages to take down most of the scouts.
Tumblr media
And then we cut back to Luz, who is waving away the students. Amity stays back to talk to her, when they’re interrupted by Kikimora.
Tumblr media
(Kiki’s line is a direct mirror to her summoning Luz in the comic, if u remember)
Cut to Luz walking onto the balcony. Belos is there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(There's some HELLA subtext going with Belos projecting onto Luz here, if that isn't clear. This version of Belos is more trusting with her because he's seen the parallels between them. This isn't just manipulation – he legitimately pities her and what she's going through)
Back to the fight! Hunter gets out of the bubble with Flapjack’s help.
Tumblr media
They have a little staff battle, but it ends with Lilith grabbing his staff and Hunter being thrown off the bridge.
Eda tries to save him, but it goes about as well as you’d expect.
Tumblr media
Owlbert catches Hunter.
Tumblr media
Hunter goes back to the Owl House, and finds out that Eda was going to give him the cloak.
Young Blood, Old Souls
For reference, this takes place a day or so after the last episode, like canon.
We open in the Throne room with Eda in owl beast mode. She is made lucid by Belos, the same as canon.
Tumblr media
Cut to Hunter on top of one of the coven carriages and with a bandana over his mouth (also new witch’s wool cloak). It rolls into the conformatorium while coven scouts are milling around. When it goes into the cell area, he drops down and starts kicking ass. Infiltration time.
Cut to Eda! She’s in her chains when the door to her cell opens, and Luz is there, face covered in shadow. Eda jokingly asks if there’s a way Luz could get Eda out of there, when Luz comes into the light, maskless, and cries. She tells her she can’t get her out, and that she’s sorry she put her in this position. If she didn’t make the deal with her, she wouldn’t be caught.
Eda doesn’t care about that, though. What she does care about is that she’s looking at Camila’s lost daughter. She takes out the portal key and gives it to Luz, saying that if she’s going to bite the dust, she can’t think of anyone who deserves it more than a human.
The cage goes up around Eda, and she is brought up to the Petrification Ceremony. Luz presses the button on the key, and the portal is summoned. She looks up where Eda disappeared, and goes through the portal, leaving an empty room.
Lilith walks in a second later.
Tumblr media
Lilith brings Hunter to the elevator platform, when they’re ambushed by Belos.
Tumblr media
Belos tells him the whole deal: He tells Hunter that he would typically kill the grimwalkers who overstep this far, but his priorities have changed. Mainly, to Luz. He just wants to keep her safe, and Hunter has been doing such a good job of that already – not to mention Luz might be upset if Hunter is killed. He can overlook the slights of the past few months if Hunter goes back to the way things were. They can go back to being a family again.
Hunter shoots back with what he has learned from being at the Owl House – that Belos has been faking his “outbursts” and could control them this whole time, that their “family” is incredibly unsafe. Remix of the “You know what I’d like, Belos?” sequence in Thanks to Them. Basically, he tells Belos that he wants nothing to do with him, and he’s taking Luz and leaving.
Belos is disappointed, but not surprised. He goes to attack and finish Hunter off, but Hunter manages to dodge it using Flapjack, releases all the glyphs he has to distract Belos, and flies up.
He gets up to the Petrification Platform, and he uses glyphs to destroy the statue and get Eda and Lilith out. They fly away to the Owl House. When they land, Hooty and King rush out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s the end of season 1!

The Evolution of Lumity (So Far): Luz’s Side
You know, whenever someone talks about how Luz and Amity’s relationship grows, they mostly focus on the Amity side of things.
Well, let’s change that.
Today, I’m going to look over how Lumity has grown, but primarily focusing on Luz’s perspective of things, showing how much her bond with Amity grew with each episode.
Tumblr media
At this point, Amity is nothing more than an antagonist. A character who causes conflict for Luz to overcome with her friends. Nothing more.
Tumblr media
It isn’t until they meet again does Luz try to bury the hatchet. The conflict from “I Was a Teenage Abomination” is over, so now, why bother making an enemy when you could just make amends?
Tumblr media
But it doesn’t take long before Amity’s antagonistic roots start to come out again, forcing Luz to treat Amity as an antagonist. One that she’s more than willing to duel against. Whatever the cost.
Unless the cost is cheating.
Tumblr media
Two things of note. As much as Luz wanted to duel Amity, she didn’t want to seriously harm her. And while Luz wanted a fight, she wanted it to be fair and square.
So when Amity ran off, ashamed to find out that she was cheating too, Luz is the one to go after her. To apologize for what happened.
Tumblr media
Only for Amity to snap, demanding Luz admits that she was wrong. This forces Luz to confess that Amity was right, fully giving in. But instead of walking away and admitting defeat...
Tumblr media
She puts the better foot forward, showing Amity how hard Luz herself works at becoming a witch. Much like Amity.
And the image above not only perfectly summarizes Luz and Amity’s relationship to a T, but it also reflects who Luz Noceda is as a person. She offers a shining light of kindness to others, no matter who they are and whether or not they deserve it.
Tumblr media
And that kindness often gets rewarded, with Luz not having to ask for it. Amity returns the gesture, and from there, Luz sees a small glimmer of a decent person in Amity.
Tumblr media
A glimmer that only shone brighter when Luz saw Amity like this.
Gentle, kind, and seemingly happy, all because she’s reading to kids.
It is a moment where Luz stopped seeing Amity as an antagonist, and started treating her as a possible friend.
Tumblr media
But Amity doesn’t share those feelings yet, and still wishes to have nothing to do with Luz. A fact that is made clear and plain, upsetting Luz in the process. But that doesn’t mean Luz gives up. If anything, she tries harder.
Tumblr media
To the point where she finds common ground. And I’m willing to hedge the bet that the second Luz found out Amity likes The Good Witch Azura, a small part of Luz’s heart warmed with glee.
Plus, it works as the perfect peace offering for all the chaos Luz indirectly brought into Amity’s life.
Tumblr media
An offering that Amity accepts and openly admits that Luz isn’t the only one at fault.
Tumblr media
From there, their relationship is noticeably less strained, and Luz and Amity act more professionally around one another. And it’s not until an adventure in the elements (see what I did there?)--
Tumblr media
--they become friends. And look at Luz!
She’s downright ecstatic to have Amity as a friend now. To the point where she treats her as she would treat Gus and Willow, being there for Amity when she needs a shoulder to cry on. Such as...
Tumblr media
Being understanding of Amity’s own personal issues when fixing Willow’s mind.
Tumblr media
Taking Amity’s place when facing Grom.
Tumblr media
Or just simply helping a friend who broke their leg during a sports game.
But what Luz doesn’t know is that her acts of kindness that she would give to any of her friends--
Tumblr media
--has an unpredictable effect.
One that goes over her head because as weird as Amity got--
Tumblr media
(and she does get weird)
--Luz doesn’t notice because:
A. She has a lot on her mind regarding Eda’s curse.
And B. This is the first and only time Amity acted like this. We see her blush in later episodes, but “Wing It Like Witches” remains the only time Amity’s gone full-on lesbian disaster for, like, the entire runtime.
To Luz, it could just be Amity having an weird day or something.
Still, by the time “Escaping Expulsion” comes around, Luz considers Amity to be part of the group.
Tumblr media
Which it why it hurts her that Amity doesn’t do much to help stand up against Odalia’s ridiculous request of expelling Luz, Willow, and Gus.
Tumblr media
To the point where offering the same kindness Luz always does doesn’t even work anymore.
Amity still won’t help Luz upon request, and Luz feels as though there’s no choice but to do as Odalia wants. A choice that puts herself in danger, with no one to save her. Except, for when she needs someone the most, who comes to her rescue?
Tumblr media
The very same person who Luz was always there for. Who is giving back all of that kindness and all of that adoration by swooping down like a hero and standing between Luz and a literal killing machine.
It’s also at that exact moment--
Tumblr media
--Luz sees Amity in a different light.
Tumblr media
From there on, Luz starts treating Amity completely differently, more so than she did in “Lost in Language.” Because Amity is no longer a possible friend anymore. Now, she’s a crush.
A crush who made Luz act level-headed during moments like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To then act the complete opposite in moments like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we all love the hell out of it.
But it wasn’t all adorable.
Tumblr media
Luz screwed up.
Badly screwed up.
And it’s here that she thought she lost Amity forever. Not just as a crush, but even as a friend.
So she does what she does best.
Tumblr media
Offer kindness.
What’s also interesting to note is that Luz fully believed that Amity didn’t want to see her again, fully believing she screwed up that bad.
Tumblr media
Even though she couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Amity said herself. Luz has a way of sneaking into people’s hearts.
And right here, right now.
Tumblr media
She learns how deep she snuck into Amity’s.
That’s a look of realization folks. A look that makes Luz come to terms with the fact that her feelings for Amity are most certainly mutual.
From a brief peck on the cheek, Luz now realizes that the ball is in her court, and it’s up to her to make the next move.
Tumblr media
Even though she has no idea how to do it.
Not because she never asked anyone out before, but because it’s implied that when Luz does ask people out, her cheesiness causes them to reject her. Hard.
Luz doesn’t want the same to happen with Amity, so she tries all she can to prevent it.
Tumblr media
Although, I can’t help but think that destroying a romantic gesture that Amity loved might have been the wrong choice.
But, Luz does learn her lesson eventually, and gets the courage to just go for it.
No perfect scenarios, no lines ready. Just simply going for it. And it’s here that I want to go through each expression Luz makes when she’s ready to ask out Amity.
Tumblr media
We start with nervousness, as one would have when doing something like this.
Tumblr media
Next, it looks as though Luz is just about ready to say it. Like the words were just coming out of her mouth.
Tumblr media
Only to have a moment of hesitation, feeling too nervous to go through with it.
Tumblr media
To then having a second wind.
Tumblr media
And finally thinking, “Screw it. Here goes everything.”
Tumblr media
And when Luz ultimately gets the words out (even though Amity beat her to it), she’s the happiest girl on the planet when Amity says yes.
Tumblr media
Oh, they’re both scared as s**t, don’t get me wrong. It’s their first relationship, after all.
But it’s mostly joy that’s taking over for Luz. You see it in future episodes.
Tumblr media
She’s grinning ear to ear over the simple act of calling Amity pretty.
Tumblr media
She’s sending cute little texts just for the heck of it.
Tumblr media
Amity is the first person Luz goes to hug after a returning from a daring adventure with Eda and King.
Tumblr media
And when in the In-Between, it’s Amity that Luz thinks about seeing first.
My point is that Luz is excited to have her first ever girlfriend.
And it was the same person that started out like this:
Tumblr media
An antagonist
Tumblr media
Who became a friend
Tumblr media
Then a crush.
Tumblr media
To then an awesome girlfriend.
And it is one hundred percent believable.

The Owl House Season 2 Trailer Analysis!!!
           NEW TRAILER!!!!
           Okay, first things first;
We have Luz opening up with a message to Camila, this is probably our first scene from Separate Tides, recapping what went on! The fact that she didn’t beat around the bush and used the word ‘kill’ for Eda’s petrification is already making me hopeful… And she still has the portal key, and is expressing fascination in it!
We have a shot of Lilith riding behind Luz, who has her cloak AND a tired King! This is possibly from Echoes of the Past… And we get a closer look at Lilith’s shirt! It resembles a battery symbol that’s depleted, which actually fits with this theory I had about her gem being removed/altered in response to the progression of her half of the curse! It’s kind of hilarious and seems to be a more mundane parallel to Eda’s chest gem showing the progression of her curse… Or maybe it’s just a static symbol that ends up being symbolic rather than literal, hoo knows?
Tumblr media
We have Luz and Amity at the library from Through the Looking Glass Ruins, beholding a section titled ‘Forbidden Stacks’! Amity’s leggings are RED here, not purple- They remind me of the Bard Coven, and of the Librarian’s sleeves! Did she change her sleeves to reflect a current internship with the Librarian, whom I’ve always headcanoned as the closest thing Amity’s had to an actual father figure?
Given how this takes place AFTER Escaping Expulsion, for all we know, we might see Amity reject the Abomination career laid out for her by her parents, and switch to Bard- She DOES seem fond of books and writing! And sure the intro shows her with Abomination goop, but the Season 1 intro originally showed Willow with Abomination Sleeves, so it’s possible they’re just hiding a spoiler!
We have Luz shocked at a shadow shown by a fire within a cave, but it may be exaggerated… However, based on what we see later on, I wonder if this is a cursed form of Belos? His true form beneath the mask and armor, or how he USED to look before he became like… THAT?
We see Luz exploring some ruins with some statues with crescent-shaped heads reminiscent of Selene’s, possibly as part of Echoes of the Past where she visits another island. We also see Owl Mask watching stoically as a shadow of what is likely Belos writhes in agony, showing what appears to be fur and a skull, which lends further credence to my idea that the shadow Luz saw is a depiction of Belos, when he was a Wild Witch and looked the part!
Tumblr media
Interesting… He once fit the typical mold of a Wild Witch, but then ‘civilized’ and trimmed himself down for a more orderly aesthetic? He seems to be writhing in pain- Is this a flashback, or Belos briefly letting himself out to handle some treatment, his condition getting worse? Is he cursed, like Eda??? Lore on the curse could connect to the theory that Belos originally made Eda’s curse before it passed through hands to Lilith, hence why he knows how to cure it!
We see floating tiles with eyes and bat wings, a shot of an Emperor’s Coven goon with unique armor that looks a LOT like God Tamer from Hollow Knight… They have a dark-blue plume but tusks, are they a Healer? Something is hurtling towards them… And their uniform seems a bit tattered, are they an exile of sorts?
There’s Gus casting a fire spell in some thorny woods that resemble the ones we found the Bat Queen in, and we saw another shot with him, Mattholomule, and some Glandus kids; This is likely the dangerous dare they put him towards! I have to wonder if Gus is trying to prove that he’s met the Bat Queen before, and to make his way there, he’s going to use fire to clear a path, only to cause destruction that will deeply anger her again…
And an Emperor’s Guard casting a spell circle! So they ARE capable of magic, or this is a witch in disguise, maybe Lilith or an Illusionist such as Gus, the twins, or the Illusion Head! If it’s the real deal, then it sure does raise questions about how the Emperor’s Guard functions if it includes actual witches too… Maybe a place for reject witches who couldn’t cut it for the coven itself?
We have Camila looking fresh, coming to a dawning realization with a conspiracy board behind her- She’s probably looking into Luz’s disappearance, maybe even confronting her imposter! In the background we can see a silhouette wielding a staff, but it doesn’t have Eda’s poofy hair… Is this R? Is my theory on R impersonating Luz correct, because R has short hair?!
Luz is flexing her Team Aqua cosplay in Separate Tides, on a search for that bounty… The Titan’s Skull is ablaze with blue fire and glowing yellow eyes! I can imagine this being some ritual of Belos’, but maybe it’s ‘remembering’ something, possibly in relation to King realizing his past? Will King visit the skull to remember who he is, because the Titan’s memories are there???
There’s Owl Mask looking like an utter doofus and goofball, I suspect they’re kind of like; Actually an excitable young kid who’s really curious, but has to constantly play it stoic for Belos’ sake. But without Belos around, the playful demeanor of the kid they REALLY are begins to poke out! We’ve got glowing Belos eyes, maybe he’s just recovered from that transformation we saw…
The statues from that one promo pic, their eyes glow red and glance over! Are these the Looking Glass Ruins, perhaps where Gus, Mattholomule, and the Glandus kids are heading? Are these wild witches once petrified, or reanimated? Then we see Luz has stolen Olw Mask’s staff and is wearing a light-blue shirt, and black pants with blue diamonds on them… Are her and Owl Mask gonna get into weird shenanigans as rivals and frenemies? The cuffs of her pants remind me of the EC aesthetic.
We have… Cursed Lilith? Cursed Gwendolyn? Hooty in his more true form, after separating from the house and is no longer being restrained???
           MYSTERY HAND!!!! MYSTERY HAND!!!!
Tumblr media
Ever since the FIRST episode, Eda’s ‘fake story’ about King’s past depicted a green hand with dark fingernails stealing his crown… For MONTHS I scoured the show for any possible appearances of this hand, for any hints to its owner, and it’s finally here!!! This is probably Echoes of the Past then, if it’s related to King’s past, and boy howdy this character I only knew by a hand for a while, really IS just hands! I wonder if there’s a connection to Kikimora then. Are these the shrunken hands of the Titan, how it once cast magic? And its heart was also shrunken, now in Belos’ throne room?
R!!! She’s got green hair, she’s old, she looks more or less as I expected, albeit with shorter hair… And HOO BOY the theories that she wrote Azura are incoming even more now! It seems she might start off with a complicated relationship with Eda, especially because, later on we’ll see…
Willow’s bedroom! Will we see more of her parents, her homelife! Is this Willow during Escaping Expulsion, did Luz or Amity or Gus just sneak into her room through the window?! AND AMITY’S HAIR DOWN!!! As she ties it back up I am HOLLERING she’s so adorable!!! She had a badge that says ‘Staff’, which makes me imagine that she IS working at the library now, because this is clearly the library, so the red leggings may in fact be deliberate. Imagine if Amity runs from home after Escaping Expulsion and gets adopted by the Librarian, lol.
There’s some sort of… Hairy thing with a single eye? Related to Belos or that shadow from earlier? The background might be Echoes of the Past, with those crescent-headed statues. Then we have our FIRST look at Gwendolyn, with a lavender outfit, a neat compromise between Eda’s red and Lilith’s blue, and a Palisman that’s an Eagle I believe? A falcon, I’m no bird expert. Clearly, this is Keeping Up A-Fear-ances.
We have some sort of cyborg abomination, which is neat- We’re exploring Abomination mechanics, but also there’s a sign behind that we later find out says ‘Blight Industries’! So the Blights have an entire COMPANY to their name, interesting, and they seem to specialize in new magical tech, likely related to Abominations! Also interesting… Odalia probably isn’t a member of the Emperor’s Coven then, I can only imagine her relation with the Abomination Head; Is she trying to earn his approval?
We have Kikimora looking either scared, or deranged as she casts a spell circle with dainty little gloves! Could this be related to that Godtamer-lookalike we saw, is this the Emperor’s Coven getting into trouble, a look at their perspective and lore and history?
           …I WAS RIGHT.
Tumblr media
I WAS RIGHT, R IS THE NEW LEADER OF THE BARD COVEN WHAT’D I TELL YOU GUYS I WAS RIGHT THIS SHOW KEEPS VALIDATING MY CRAZY SPECULATION AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE IT FOR THAT!!!!
Tumblr media
We have the Coven Leaders in white-and-gold regalia; They look much more EC-like, and in a lot of ways different from their banners, getting Diamond Mural flashbacks from Steven Universe again. Can’t say I’m complaining about the updates, though- Surprised to see that the Potions Head has an actual long, mosquito-like nose instead of a plague doctor mask. A mosquito-motif and potions… This reminds me a LOT of my Bile Coven fic I made a while back, which to me is only MORE exhilarating!
That’s the same Construction Head we recognize, I guess his Covention outfit was casual attire, and the Abomination Head is DEFINITELY not a Blight, because they’re um, NOT white. Their hair is an Abomination, an Abomination wig??? Wig snatched??? They look youthful for someone at least seventy-something, could just be magic, to what degree I wonder… Either way I suspect they might mean a LOT to Odalia and her Blight Industries! I have to wonder if these white cloaks are standard attire, or if the Construction Head in Covention alludes to these cloaks just being uniforms they put on every now and then for important events, kind of like Lilith’s cowl.
We have King trapped in darkness, meaty goop around his vision as he reaches out for a ball of light… His memories? It reminds me of Understanding Willow, has Eda helped him with her memory spell before? Will we see her try? Is King being consumed and attacked by the monster we see later in the trailer?
Lilith and Eda sitting at desks outside, OH THIS is Gwendolyn being really embarrassing and obnoxious, probably wanting to ‘teach’ her kids properly, and we got sisters bonding over their shared dislike of mom! Then we have the hole in Hooty’s door, confirming one of the two truths from the Reddit AMA, and we see ORGANS… Indeed upsetting! He’s also in some sort of house-like tote bag, this is probably him preparing for Echoes of the Past!
We see a fleshy thing with a cresent head like those statues, so this is likely some sort of lingering guardian, last-of-its-kind remnant from the island that Luz and King visit in Echoes of the Past! Its claws look meaty and boney… Kind of reminds me of Belos’ aesthetic, will we see Belos lore and origin here? Are King and Belos both from the same spawning point? Is this the Titan’s spawn, born directly of its decayed flesh???
Lilith has Hooty slung behind her with ice glyphs, so she’s using glyphs too! She’s likely stepping in to help Luz, AUNTIE LILITH YEAH!!! SAVE LUZ!!! She’s not too bad at ice glyphs, she’s a good student and witch see, we’re only three episodes in!
As I said- We have Gus burning his way through a thorned forest with three Glandus kids and Mattholomule bracing themselves. BOY is he powerful that boy Gus, glad to see his gifted skills showing, and of course Mattholomule is present for the next Gus-centric episode! Looking forward to those Glandus kids becoming the Detention Kids 2.0, we even have an inhuman one amidst two human-looking witches! They both have dark hair but different skin stones, related or not?
Luz is acting dual fire and ice glyphs, so experimenting, but for what? The scenery matches when Luz steals Owl Mask’s staff, so same episode I imagine.
EDA FLASHBACK TO WHEN SHE WAS A YOUNG ADULT HOT MOMMA! The way it’s framed, I wonder if this Gwendolyn reminiscing of the past… But WOW Not-as-young Eda is HOT HOT HOT! We also see some blue dragon creature manifest in the same ruins, and the trees seem to match what we saw with Gus, so this is probably his quest for the ruins in Through the Looking Glass Ruins, and THIS is the danger/bounty!
Tumblr media
We have Odalia demonstrating on behalf of Blight Industries, and looking thiccer than I expected, some abomination-device that breathes a putrid green gas or fire! We then see Luz with the same pants, using an ice glyph she carved out! She’s restrained, is this where she fights Owl Mask? When he waves goodbye, is it because he caught Luz, or is this at the end of the episode where he escapes? There’s R looking a bit hesitant, maybe reminiscing as she plays the violin before grimly determining her resolve… The filter seems romantic to me, is this Eda and R having an old romance?
Younger Eda! Her hair is looking more wild but also grayer here, is this some flashback to how she found Hooty or the portal, or the Owl House? We see a giant keyhole entrance of sorts and what looks like stars from the Owl Mural, is this the interior of the Owl Tower? Is this Hooty’s perspective as he lunges at Eda in their first encounter?
Luz is holding onto some meaty bone thing, probably the Crescent Head from earlier, does it have King? Then we have young Eda, POOR GIRL, eavesdropping on what seems to be an argument between her parents; Is that Eda’s father in the shadow? Could we see parental conflict, possibly alluding to a differing opinion- Perhaps Eda’s father is more a wild witch, and Gwendolyn isn’t? Eda and Lilith’s father doesn’t approve of Belos, but Gwen thinks this is best for the family? Was there a split and divorce and did this contribute to Lilith not wanting to lose Eda, because she already lost Dad??? Was Mr. Clawthorne the only parent who cared, and then HE left her?
Hooty is… Looking threatening as sludge rises and burns around him, is this a look into his backstory and original, menacing past? He’s popping out of the ground and theres some honey combs in the background, are these flaming bees? Is this Echoes of the Past? Then we have Crescent Head giving chase, with BLUE eyes similar to Belos’… Are the Emperor’s Guards meaty constructs? Was BELOS one of them before he changed? Did Belos convert the Crescent-Heads into his goons, leaving behind just this one wild one?
Luz is floating in some dark-green water… Remembering something? Lilith is in a fire; I believe this scene has her working with Hooty and using ice glyphs to fight some burning bees, AKA Echoes of the Past. She and Hooty might be split off from Luz and King, that could be our B-plot and look into Lilith’s psyche, maybe her and Hooty both become outcasts in the Owl House!
Then there’s… A scratched-up Luz running in the rafters from Odalia’s abomination, I SWEAR ODALIA, is your dangerous deal with Luz to prove how effective your invention is by attacking the girl who wounded Belos? IF YOU LAY A HAND ON HER YOU’RE DEAD TO ME-
Team Aqua Luz with plants, LUMITY HANDHOLD!!!! Luz shining a light in the ruins again… And her looking scratched-up at the demonstration as she retaliates with an ice glyph, either at the Abomination or Odalia herself! Random thought, what if Alador was inside that Abomination… We have Belos breaking a palisman from its staff, confirming the green bile theory, and ALSO confirming that yes, he breaks staffs while keeping Palismans connected to their interlock; Keeping them inert, while also rendering the staff useless! Just as I suspected from Agony of a Witch! Uh oh, RIP Palisman… Whose Palisman is that I wonder?
Poor Lilith is dealing with HER half of the curse, beginning to transform! Raven Lilith, or is the bird monster from before? I hate to say it, but now you know how Eda feels… Then a cloaked being in black-and-gray garb, very constellation-y. And Belos… is that his OWN artificial portal key, or the key grafted with tech of his own? He’s trying to open the portal, DAY OF UNITY lore…?!? And we see his hair… He mockingly says “Knock, knock, human” so this is probably a major moment where Luz catches him opening the portal. And as I mentioned, we have Owl Mask messing with a captive King- So he captures King? Is this Echoes of the Past, or later? Is this the episode with Kikimora and the Godtamer-lookalike, is this part of Luz’s quest to get back King because of what he means to the Titan?
Oh boy… With the glowing Titan skull, will Belos realize that King is a major component he needs??! But yeah, this adds to my read of OM as an excitable little goofball who’s been sheltered and is naturally excited by everything outside, but needs to hold it together for Belos’ sake…
I AM PUMPED YOU GUYS and my speculation will keep going, but also I WAS RIGHT ABOUT R BEING THE LEADER OF THE BARD COVEN!!! And with that silhouette with a staff and short hair, she might be involved in Camila’s conspiracy involving ‘Lus’ as well!
