How was your Bad Bunny show? Mine was in Miami and it was like a fucking party! It was 3 hours long and he had a huge stage and he flew in a palm tree over the whole place. I was very impressed by the logistics and mood tbh
ANONNN IT WAS AMAZING. Listen, I've never been a huge fan and of course I know the old songs but the new? I could recognise maybe 3. But holy shit it was an amazing show!!!!! Like I'm really really obsessed. It lasted about 3 hours and I danced the whole fucking time (and I want to keep dancing so bad, can't take the songs out of my mind). The thing with the lights made it so so cool, him flying all over the stadium, him bringing fans on stage to dance with him, all the production really: AMAZING
Ohhh and everyone singing and dancing to the songs??? Always my favourite moments (I feel like maybe I could appreciate it even more as I didn't know the lyrics most of the time). Here, one of my favourite sing along moments:

lemme introduce you to some new things donghyuck
full name: lee donghyuck
age: 19 [international]
height: 174cm
donghyuck is an adorable prankster who’s known far-and-wide throughout his life
the boy started out as a class clown, making jokes at teachers and other students in kindergarten
it got him into loads of trouble, and he didn’t really have friends because the other kids called him mean and scary when he tries to joke around with them
hyuck didn’t care tho
he loves the attention from both his peers and parents even if it meant getting scolded every night
he didn’t change when he went to elementary school, still going around pulling pranks on other people, so far as to pulling at a girl’s pigtails and being sent into detention
although his persona did change when high school rolled around
he’s no longer donghyuck, the adorkable class clown he’s now donghyuck, a rebel that hates schoolwork, teachers, and gets thrown into detention more often than he should
never does his homework, smack talks at teachers and destroys school property
people started to wonder why he hasn’t been thrown out of school yet
the only reason he’s still passing his grades is because of mark, a senior who talks and acts friendly around hyuck as if he’s just any normal student
at first hyuck thought the guy befriended him because he wanted something from him
maybe his lunch or his money
but hyuck’s blown away when mark tells him that he just wanted them to be friends
mark tells him about seeing him roam around the halls with no one to talk to,, his hands in his pockets and staying out on the outskirts and how he feels a pang in his heart
he knows the feeling of being alone with no one to talk to just because people won’t spend time trying to get to know the person underneath
he felt it himself after he moved to seoul, all the kids rejecting him from their friend circles because he looked and talked differently
and mark felt the need to befriend him
the two start hanging out alot after that
playing online games together, hanging out in arcades together, walking around school together
sometimes hyuck gives mark headaches because the boy doesn’t want to do any of his workload,, even once trying to pay mark to do his homework
and mark’s pleasantly surprised when he finds out that hyuck is nowhere near stupid
the boy could rank number one in his year if he actually put some work in
hyuck tells him it’s because school just isn’t his passion
“i want to be a singer someday. i won’t be stuck doing algebra and i’ll be going on tours and performing instead.”
hyuck’s 20 now and a changed man
he’s gotten himself into a prestigious college for the performing arts, one step closer to making his dream come true
and while he would never admit it, he’s grateful for mark. if it weren’t for him, he’s end up as a dead beat high school dropout
speaking of mark
mark went to a different college for arts, almost a town away from his
and today he’s going to come by from all the nagging hyucks’s been giving him about not meeting each other often
they’re going to meet at a cafe
and hyuck’s waiting for mark who’s 20 minutes late because of traffic
“hyung! if you didn’t want to see me you could have said so.”
“traffic’s a bitch.”
he’s starting to get bored sitting at the corner alone with nothing but his phone to keep him company, mark not even replying to his messages
until something gets his attention
its you
you’re a solo singer that started out as an actress
relatively young and have debuted for a few years now, known for your amazing vocals and catchy songs
and there you are
on the screen of a flat screen tv hanging just above him, singing and dancing in your newly released mv
hyuck’s staring at the screen and he’s listening very carefully to your song
even going onto his phone and searching for your music after the mv finishes and another show starts playing on the tv
he doesn’t even realize mark running in looking like a train wreck
out of breath and very disheveled with a very clear coffee stain on his shirt
and when he does, haechan shoves his phone into mark’s face, the latter squinting at the bright screen
“who’s this?”
“that’s y/n? she’s a solo singer, i told you about her remember?”
“nope.”
hyuck’s a little confused because?? if mark had told him about you there’s no way he would’ve forgotten
boy goes on a streaming spree right after coming home
can’t be reached by anyone for a whole 24/7, burrowing in his room with the air con on full and his phone blasting your mv one after the other
he’s hooked
goes on an impulsive buying spree for your light stick and multiple albums
pretty much spending his life’s money
droning on and on again and again to mark about you
he goes on non stop about how mark should’ve told him about you sooner, said boy rolling his eyes because, “you’re the one who forgot.”
he burst into tears when mark gave him a fan sign ticket as a reward for acing all his classes mark is THAT friend yall
hugging the life out of the older one and covering mark’s face with spit when he kisses him all over we all need a mark in our lives tbh
he still can not believe he’s going to meet you
d-day arrives
hyuck set up 5 alarms last night so he wouldn’t accidentally over sleep and miss meeting you
all his life, he’s never been a fan of working out but here he is, 8 hours before a fan sign doing pull ups and push ups because he wants to look good
he isn’t ashamed to admit that he shaved twice
nor is he ashamed that he’s using a face mask he literally just bought yesterday because they’re supposed to make him look shining, shimmering and splendid
he’s rushing out of his dorm to where the fan sign is held and he literally stops breathing when he sees you in person surrounded by security and scary looking managers
he’s reminding himself to breath because he doesn’t want to pass out in front of you while all his brain is thinking is, ‘how does she even look better in person?’
‘she looks like an angel.’
‘she’s breathtaking.’
hyuck’s convinced he’s in love
and he only watches you and stares at everything you do
he turns red when you turn to him and wave from afar
‘did that just really happen?’
‘did i just get noticed?’
‘am i in heaven?’
when its finally his turn, he turns into stone all of his planned speeches disappearing into thin air
donghyuck.exe.has stopped functioning
he gives you his gift and he knows you see him trembling and you laugh, holding his hand to stop his shaking
‘did i just hear wedding bells ringing?’
‘i’m never going to wash my hands’
he’s having his own internal crisis
you’re there staring at him for a bit, making sure you smile at him and engage in eye contact
while inside you’re a little blown away because you’ve seen your fair shares of handsome men, your own fans being the most handsome in your eyes but you’ve never seen anyone as handsome as donghyuck is and you’re wondering why he hasn’t been snatched by idol companies
both of you smile and talk to each other
and hyuck’s freaking out a little because this is his time is running out and this is the only chance to tell you the words he thought about for 3 days he even forced mark into his mini lyric writing session
“i wanted to thank you for always making me smile.”
and you’re smiling so much wider by now, the sweet words from your fans never failing to take your breath away
“are you kidding me? donghyuck you’re like the sun, so warm and you bright up my day. you’re my full sun.”
the boy practically melted then and there and had to be escorted out by your security team
the next time he meets mark all he can ramble on and on about is your fansign
“mark, she called me her sun..”
“mARK DON’T TOUCH ME I’M THE FREAKING SUN.”
“I’M CHANGING MY NAME TO LEE HAECHAN.”

The dreams had been plaguing you for a while now.
“Y/n,” a boy’s voice spoke. “Y/n, always remember, and never forget. You must forgive, and never forget.”
“Remember what?” You’d cry out into the empty space. “Always remember what? What is it I’ve forgotten? Who is it I’m supposed to forgive?”
Alas, the empty space never told you anything. It was just a soft chuckle, the feeling of eyes lovingly watching you from somewhere far away, cloying and envious, and then, in the blink of an eye, it was gone.
~ ♕ ~
The rain pelting against your bedroom window that night had been harsh. You listened to the uproarious melody, now awake, lying in a pool of your own sweat, heart racing, wondering where you had come to and where you’d just been. It was always this way, taking time to cool down from such a feverishly swift and spiraling dream; although you were theoretically standing still in a vacant space, you felt the effects of falling as you arose.
The rain calmed you. Despite its intensity it was the one thing that gave you peace, something mentally stabilizing to cling onto and give full focus to as the echoes of a dream deferred vanished into the far recesses of your mind, where they’d be all but forgotten until the next evening. You didn’t know what you’d do when the stormy season was over-- it had already been unusual to have such a large mass of wacky weather one after the other this time of year-- and sure a ferrying rain shower or two was normal-- but you’d grown accustomed to running to the storm’s ferocity for guidance, a child’s blanket, a figurative teddy bear that you could squeeze against your thoughts when escaping the dream realm. The heavy downpour washed all of your fears and anxiety away. What would you do when it was all over, and Fall returned?
It had been so odd; with all the rain and fluctuating humidity, the flowers and Spring-Summer crops were in full bloom. You’d never experienced seasonal allergies in the Fall until now. Neither had your best friend, Hyunjin, and...speaking of…
You hadn’t realized it was morning until Hyunjin came bursting into your room with one of your uncle’s chickens in his arm. It was still raining, hard, the droplets sounding like tiny fists pounding to come inside. Doubtful to let up anytime soon. “Y/n! Are you still auditioning for the role of Sleeping Beauty up here? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure Mia Harper’s got it covered, and Aunt Em’s gonna slide me your stack of pancakes in the next ten minutes if you don’t get your share of the chores done.”
A yawn escaped you. Hyunjin and his sidekick Kkami had been coming over to assist in your busy-hermit lifestyle ever since you could remember. He was your neighbor, after all, but...more on that later. The moment Hyunjin’s words soared beneath the backlash of bad weather, you’d completely forgotten what it was you’d just been thinking about, before the rain, what it was you’d dreamed. (Ever ironic how the dream had instructed you to remember, and yet, here you were, doomed to forget.) “Yeah, okay…” You yawned, stretching and easing yourself into the usual morning (sometimes afternoon) routine. You glanced at the chicken in his arms, and his subtle goofy smile in the doorway. “Is this your way of saying you’d rather have Pluckers as your lab partner instead of me?”
He shifted his eyes thoughtfully to Pluckers, watching him twitch and litter feathers like drops of rain before giving you his answer. “...I mean, that’s not a bad idea, actually. Have you even started your half of the worksheet yet?”
Ugh. Always about school. You wanted to tell him yes, but in all honesty you’d been spending your free time and late nights with your nose lodged between Harry Potter pages or your eyes plugged and gasping over YouTube storytimes. So you clamped your mouth shut.
And now, the backstory: Hyunjin had been your best friend for years. The two of you grew up next door to each other, which for country living was pretty dang far; having someone as your neighbor here was the same thing as having them live down the block. You’d never known your parents; you were adopted at a young age by your Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, who weren’t biologically related to you in any sense and just as good as any biological pair of adults. The details surrounding your DNA relatives-- and the year you’d come to live here-- were all unknown to you. The only story you’d ever gotten out of Aunt Em was that they’d had you from “knee-high” and that you couldn’t remember because of a nasty fall from one of Uncle Henry’s apple trees; Uncle Henry himself refused to speak of the subject at all, either pretending he needed hearing aids or choosing to run into the next room.
Hyunjin was your only friend in school. You’d never been very good in the communication department; growing up in a small town made your comfort zone the same. But not Hyunjin. He was popular and kind and got along with everyone. He had a gift for catching people’s eyes: every boy envied him, every girl drooled over him, and all your teachers and professors fawned and smiled and patted him on the back, even when he’d blurted out the “dog ate my homework” excuse in eighth grade and you proudly stood up and announced that he didn’t have a dog, disregarding Kkami, just for the amusement of finally seeing him choke and get scolded for once in his life. Instead you found yourself pouting with the Cone of Shame in silence while Hyunjin outrageously was given a star on the Good Noodle chart. It’d been the one moment to ruin your friendship for the remainder of class...until he gave you his Free Ice Cream ticket for PeachyKeen’s ice cream parlor downtown. Then, you were okay.
Even now, in your town’s small local college, he was applauded by all. The only person you’d ever seen frown his way was Uncle Henry, who often argued that a boy of his age shouldn’t be barging into a young lady’s room anymore. But Aunt Em always shrugged him off, quoting her famous “times change” saying and shoved a slice of pie before him, and he was back to watching TV.
A flash of lighting lit up the dim clouded sky, followed by the roar of thunder, and with a panicked squawk Pluckers shot out of Hyunjin’s arms, leaving a trail of feathers to follow down the hall. With a nervous look the two of you exchanged a nod before Hyun gave chase, closing the door behind him, and you got right to work getting ready for the day. It was Saturday, meaning no school, however there was still plenty of farmwork to do and the crops in the field weren’t going to protect themselves. Not from yesterday’s shower, and not from today’s.
You hustled downstairs with toothbrush hanging from your lips, dawned in your favorite plaid skirt and lime-green raincoat, the one with the little frog face over the left breast. Ruffling Kkami awake, Hyunjin’s “beloved baby,” you tossed her a treat from the clay jar you and Hyunjin had made together for her in sixth grade art, spinning and spitting in the kitchen sink.
Aunt Em gave you a nervous look as you tossed the brush in the dishwasher and started aggressively inhaling cinnamon apple pancakes like a beloved Nintendo character. “...And how is my favorite girl this afternoon?” She asked. Her whimsical tone made your neck blush.
“Sorry, I stayed up late studying again.”
“Studying the wizarding world of Hogwarts, you mean?”
“...Perhaps?”
You smiled apple bits and maple syrup, and she laughed, waving a dish towel at you and squinting the other way. “Keep your mouth closed until you're done. Didn’t I teach you better manners than that?”
“I dunno, did you?”
Her eyes bore into yours in warning and you laughed harder, nearly choking on the last bite of spiced apple goodness. Aunt Em sighed, shaking her head while wiping her hands clean. “I suppose I walked right into that one.” She nodded toward the side door, leading to the barn. “Hurry before the storm picks up. It’s gonna be another bad one, they say, so if the wind picks up anymore or it starts hailing or God forbid you see a giant funnel in the sky, I want the two of you right back inside, you hear?”
“Funnel cake?!” Uncle Henry called. He was glued to his usual pleather chair when he wasn’t out tending to the garden or the farm animals or fixing a leaky faucet. He was also in need of a hearing aid; working eight hours a day around screeching metals and brazen farm animals had left his eardrums in shambles. Aunt Em rolled her eyes, cupping her hands around her mouth.
“Not cake, I’m talking about the weather!”
“It’s raining cake?!?”
She groaned, earning a chuckle from the two of you. It was cut short when Hyunjin came stumbling past, spitting out feathers and just in arms reach of a couple hens, Pluckers in the lead, signaling that brunch was over. “Thanks for the meal!” you said, shoving the plate forward.
“Be careful!” Em’s voice bridged across the living room. “You two look out for one another! And hurry!”
“We will!” You shouted back. The sound of the door clicking shut was barely audible beneath the heavy thunks of raindrops slamming against the tin roof as the two (five?) of you ventured out into the stormy play.
You wished then you would have taken just the sliver of a moment to look back.
~ ♕ ~
You’d never seen a flourishing of colors much like the one taking place outside. Turnips turning upwards, tulips banging heads, carrots and corn stalks exchanging blows before ending up on opposite sides of the field. Sunflowers having the sun beat out of them. It was something out of the rising action of a thriller movie. You’d seen similar scenes in nearly half the Harry Potter movies; the only thing missing were wizards and wands and perhaps a giant dragon.
“You round up Maribelle!” Hyunjin yelled over the storm. His arms were spread wide as he squinted and squatted through the blinding rain, ushering the rest of the chickens and hens inside the barn. “I’ll get the horses next!”
Nodding you ran through sloshing mud puddles and drowning fields of grain towards the feeding pasture, where dear old Maribelle the could be found, often grazing on weeds or spreading out for an afternoon sunbath. The lone cow of SunnySkies pastures for fifteen years, and the first to join the farm. Instead you found her darting bug eyes around wildly, her knobby limbs quivering beneath a willow tree that provided little protection, the willows only adding to the streams of precipitation pouring over her stiff brown fur. She gave you a frantic moo and bobbed her head in relief to see you.
“There, there,” you soothed, whipping the grass and water from her eyes. “Quickly now, let’s get you into the barn before this picks up anymore.”
She moo-ed again, lower this time, giving you an argueless agreement.
You sledged hard against the rising winds, the blades of greenery that cut surprisingly sharp like razor blades, leaving a small mark upon your cheek. You winced, annoyed at the slight sting, the small drops of crimson that came up against your fingertips only to be washed away just as quickly. It began to rain harder, faster, the wind practically howling in your ears. The faint sounds of a freight train or some sort of heavy machinery filled the distance.
“Let’s hurry, now,” you encouraged your steed, pulling her along beside you. She was reluctant to move, frightened by the spiraling commotion around her. It didn’t help when something snapped beneath your feet, a twig, maybe, or some glass. As if on cue the willow tree came crashing down with a thud.
You braced yourself, sucking in a sharp breath; you needed to get inside; but Maribelle had other plans. Startled, she ran a wayward direction, disappearing in the fog that was beginning to settle over the pasture. “Mari--!” you began to call, taking two steps forward-- ‘til the cries of another all but took your breath away, making you forget about Maribelle, making you forget about everything.
You stood, jaw slacked, slit-eyed, watching Hyunjin blow away. He wiggled in the fierce storm breeze like a flag pitched on the roof. “Y/N!!!” He screamed, clinging to the roof’s edge for dear life. “Y/N, GET INSIDE!!! CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!!!”
“HYUNJIN!” You bleated back. “HYUNJIN, HANG ON!!! I’M COMING!!!”
“NO, IT’S TOO DANGEROUS, GO-- AHHH!” He shrieked and ducked his head beneath a flying branch. “...GO INSIDE!!! CALL THE PRESIDENT!!!”
“I’m not calling the President,” you huffed, fighting your way across sideways weather and flyaway hairs to latch yourself onto the barn ladder. Of all the times to crack jokes, only Hyunjin would choose a raging level eight storm. “Hang on I’m coming…!”
...Your voice trailed off as your head listed aside, something bouncing in the corner of your eye. There, rounding the side of the barnhouse, was Kkami, frolicking like a happy-go-lucky lamb to Hyunjin’s side.
“Arf! Rwarf!”
“KKAMI?!?”
Your blood went cold. If Hyunjin caught wind of Kkami, it was all over. “Kkami!” you hissed, or at least tried to over the roaring ninety-miles-per-hour winds. “Go back inside! Go! Shoo!”
“IS THAT MY BABY DOWN THERE?!?!”
Oi. “N-NO, IT ISN’T! JUST A BRANCH!!!”
Ushering Kkami with a branch at least beneath the safety of the barn roof, you hustled back to the side of the building. The rain made it slick and hard to hold onto, but you scaled the side of the barnhouse as fast as possible, avoiding loose vegetation and swatting at leaves and smaller branches and once a lemon wedge that the storm must have torn in two somehow, crawling up loose shingles and various askew obstacles and then...then…
This was the hardest part to remember, a part you wish you didn’t have to remember. Face wet, hair whipping in the tempest breeze, you reached for Hyun’s hand, kneeling, pleading, focusing thoughts on hot cocoa and warm lemon pie inside, an Aunt Em specialty. The reality you were so certain in. A reality that would never come.
“Gotcha...!”
Your hands met, fingers touched, smiles of relief shared. But it only lasted a moment before the rainstorm ripped him away, your cries drowning in the funnel that appeared in the sky...or at least that’s how you wished to remember it: in reality there was a soft, whimpering arf!, followed by your best friend’s gasp as he relinquished your grasp to adhere himself to the skies after Kkami, now paddling against the storm’s current, cries of “My baby!” and anguished “AAAAH”s lost on the wind.
And you could only watch him go, just seeing him manage to latch onto his beloved pet of nine-odd years before disappearing from sight, sucked into the giant magnetizing center of it all you’d completely failed to notice, the last thing from his lips a cry to your name. It’d appeared out of nowhere, substantial and vigorous. Pulling into the station, the train had arrived, uprooting and tearing apart everything in its path. A giant, swirling cloud of gray and gravel and doom.
Oddly enough, in that paralyzing moment, something clicked in the back of your mind: a cursory afterthought at the eye of the storm.
“Always remember, and never forget. You must forgive, and never forget.”
You stared into the eye harder.
“Come home, Y/n. Come home.”
“Y/N!!!” Aunt Em’s frantic voice screeched below. “Y/N, HYUNJIN!!! Y/N?!?”
You couldn’t look. Couldn’t move. Horror froze you to the barn, eyes locked on the exact spot you last saw Hyunjin disappear, the trance calling you deeper and deeper into a strange petrifying submission, until the tornado whorled to your doorstep and swept you away; the pasture, the barn, your home. Everything.

A Room Full of Vampires
A Drawfee Fanfiction
John’s sister was the lamest best friend he ever had.
They had planned to go to the movies for a week now, after months of John begging her to go with him. She only caved because this double feature landed on his birthday, and he promised she’d get out of buying him a gift if she went.
Cheapskate she was, Ava readily agreed.
For the past few days, he’d been so excited about it. He planned on going all out at the snack bar, he’d bring a blanket, the works. It would be like when they were kids and they used to watch movies in blanket forts when their parents went on dates.
Considering John’s birthday last year was the worst thing that happened to him, he deserved to have some serious nostalgic fun on this one.
But that morning, when he woke up to only one text, all it said was a weak apology that she couldn’t make it because her boyfriend had a work event. Then about twenty minutes later she added a proper, “Happy Birthday”.
Cool. First birthday single in ten years and not even his sister wanted to spend the day with him. It was fine.
Totally fine.
However, when it was 7 pm and John hadn’t left his house and had totally demolished a pint of red velvet ice cream, he concluded that maybe it wasn’t fine.
By the time the first movie of his fantasized double feature was almost over, John was pretty damn sick of staring down the liter of Mountain Dew and feeling sorry for himself. He looked in the mirror. Sure his hair was a mess and he still was wearing yesterday’s clothes, but he was a perfectly capable 26-year-old man. If he wanted to go to the movies on his birthday, he could go all by himself, dammit.
Feeling a surge of self-confidence (possibly fueled by his energy drink overdose) he vibed with the electricity running under his skin. That’s right. He was an averagely attractive, somewhat active, not dead human. He could go out and do anything!
Granted, he couldn’t fly. He caught himself a taxi the second he got outside. He wasn’t an animal.
When he reached the theater, the box office was derelict, save an arguing couple buying tickets. In the dark night, the platinum blonde, with arguably fabulous long hair, glistened under the bright lights. The duo looked a lot fancier than him, but sometimes people cosplayed to the theaters, so that’s what he figured was going on. Since the second feature was Cats, maybe they just really liked musicals and wanted to get their Phantom of the Opera on. He just sorta shrugged it off and waited for them to be done.
But their bickering was pretty interesting. “Bertrand, we were supposed to go to an elaborate dinner tonight. But instead, you stayed at work late, missed our reservations, and you’re trying to make it up to me by taking me to a half-finished theater event? I’m not a dog, your scraps aren’t enough for me.”
“Bastian, I am trying to make it up to you. You love Cats. You’ve always loved Cats. You loved Cats before it even was on Broadway. This should be a fun substitute.”
“Well, maybe I wanted to see Sonic the Hedgedog, too.”
“It’s hedgehog, love.”
“Whatever.” The blonde, named Bastian, crossed his arms and stared at the movie posters, waiting for Bertrand to finish paying.
While John loved himself a good drama, the awkwardness of hearing a couple argue also made him want to shrivel up inside and die. On a normal day, that would’ve been enough to make him go home.
But not today.
Today was his birthday and he was going to see a movie, dammit.
After the way-too-fashionable men walked away, John walked up to the dead-eyed teenager. “One for the double feature.”
“What is up with you people, coming half-way through the show?”
He didn’t mean to, but John bristled from the inside out. Caffeine rage was no joke. “I am an adult and I live my life in a way that makes me happy. I look like a happy man, don’t I?”
“I don’t think I wanna answer that.” Handing over his tickets, the teen grimaced. “Enjoy the show, dude.”
John didn’t mean to get so rattled, so he gave the guy an awkward wave and hoped that he never met him again.
Okay, all the chaos had to be over now. He was going to walk into that theater, enjoy this damned movie, and prove that he was perfectly fine on his own. He didn’t need Ava or Stacy or anyone to make his birthday a good one. He was a 26-year-old man and--
Just as John pushed the doors to the theater open, he saw the couple from before standing in front of all the aisles, accompanied by two other oddly dressed men, four children, a bat, and a dog with...Wings?
Though John had been pumping his arms pretty intently, a man on a mission, he stopped dead.
All the way down the aisles, Bertrand said, “So that’s why I knew this double feature was happening.”
Behind the kids, the guy with a big cloak threw open his arms and yelled, “Boo!” They all jumped and squealed, but then threw themselves into his arms.
By all accounts, that should’ve been more than enough for John to leave. There was also a fair shot that, unless he was absolutely losing his mind, he might’ve just walked into a roomful of vampires. Or vampire cosplayers, at the very least, which wouldn’t be the strangest thing he walked in on. After all, nothing would ever beat Stacy getting bent over by a guy in a Teletubby costume.
He still had no clue what the guy’s face even looked like.
Cringing, John instead focused on watching the bizarre, but obviously happy family banter, hug, and bicker. Even the angry couple still obviously was very much in love with each other. Though he could hear Bastian’s petty comments all the way up the stairs, the guy kept making sure Bertrand never stepped on his own cloak. It was horribly sweet, even if it made him feel so much more alone.
Sitting down, he accepted that his night couldn’t get any weirder, so he might as well accept it.
The parents of the kids walked over to Bertrand and Bastian. The one who looked like he got hair tips from Doc Brown was patting Bertrand on the head. “So happy to have my older brother show up to our family outing!”
“It wasn’t on purpose, Victor.”
The shorter, more cartoonish guy shrugged. “Either way, Valentino and I are happy to see you. And so are the kids! Desdemona has been dying to see her “shiny-headed uncle”.”
“Balding is a completely natural part of the male aging process. I just unfortunately got stuck in the middle of it.”
Just as Victor opened his mouth, the lights dimmed. “Ooh! Time for the movie to start. Sit with us!”
Bastian patted Bertrand’s shoulder and he did this deep sigh, but he did it with such ease that it must be muscle memory from years of annoyance. John remembered when he and Ava used to have tics like that. They texted every other day, but the last time he saw her in person had to be months ago.
He didn’t even know what color her hair was right now. Knowing her, it probably changed a few times since the purple he saw last.
Even though Cats started up, and the CGI was a disturbing kind of mesmerizing, John couldn’t keep his eyes off the family in the first few rows. The way Bastian and Bertrand held each other’s sleeves was endearing. The little girl next to Bertrand kept leaning over and asking him questions, but no matter how tense he looked, it seemed like he always answered them. And while he didn’t quite understand what was happening, the one named Valentino held the tiny bat like it was a sweet, sleepy toddler.
His chest started to hurt, looking at them, but he also couldn’t look away. Vampire cosplayers or whatever, they were family. It made his own fingers feel so cold, so empty and killed his Mountain Dew buzz completely.
John looked to his own left and right and wondered how long it’d been since he got used to being alone. Those last few months with Stacy weren’t the best, and Ava drifted when--
Looking down at Victor and Valentino giggling and covering their kids’ eyes when the Cats were a little too sensual, he knew what the answer was: Ava had been distant since they lost their own version of those two.
When Ava and John’s parents died, it had been so sudden. Before that, they spent so much time together. Ava was his best friend, over at his apartment every few days for ramen or advice or to make him try out some new recipe she had. Mom and Dad would take them to farmer’s markets and book drives, supporting their dreams in their own, weird ways. And they all used to really love mini golf, no matter how dumb that was.
He couldn't remember the last time Ava stopped by his book store, even just to say hi.
Maybe he had a lot more going on than just being lonely; maybe Ava did, too.
Before John could really register what was going on, the lights were coming up and it felt like his heart was being torn out of his chest. His cheeks got wet and his lungs got so full of loneliness that they didn’t know they were a pair. He didn’t want it to end. He wanted to stay in this dark theater, living vicariously through this vampire family a little longer.
But crying in a near-empty movie theater doesn’t go unnoticed for long. “Um, sir? Are you okay?” The one named Victor was suddenly in front of him, touching his shoulder, with these kind, however dark and kinda creepy, eyes.
If this was a normal day, John would smile and play it off.
But today was his birthday, dammit.
Shaking his head, John said, ‘No.”
Behind him, the entire vampire family had pooled, all looking at him with their own dark, kinda creepy eyes. John wasn’t really in a place to judge, though, considering his were probably all puffy.
Victor asked, “Mind if I ask what it’s about?”
“You all are just a really beautiful family.” John sniffled and tried to rub away as many tears as he could. While the honesty felt nice, there was only so much shamelessness his very embarrassing soul could handle. “I think I got a little jealous.”
“Well, if you want, you can come join us for midnight mini-golf. The night has just started for us, and it’s our little girl’s birthday. The more the merrier.”
John couldn’t help but laugh. “Mine, too.”
“Even better!” Victor stood up and offered John a hand. He took it.
As they passed the rest of the group, Valentino was rounding up the kids, Bastian was knuckling away a tear, and Bertrand was frowning. But it was the kind of way someone frowned when they knew they were about to be forced to enjoy something that they totally would enjoy, but hated to admit it.
With a knowing smirk, Victor asked, “Coming to mini-golf, Bertrand? It’s Desi and this young man’s birthday, after all.”
Bastian added, “I won’t be so completely annoyed with you anymore if we do.”
Bertrand scoffed in defeat. “Fine.”
And then John followed the roomful of vampires to mini-golf, and chose to actively ignore the fact none of their reflections showed up in any of the water features and the liquid in their water bottles was red. It was easier to focus on the way they all smiled together under the moonlight.
Tonight was his birthday, and he was going to enjoy it with a real, live family (sort of).
He’d call Ava in the morning. They had a lot to talk about.

Start from NH Diaries part 1: Permanent Island Getaway
Day 7
Kitt moved in this morning. It felt so good to have her back in my life. I did not realize how nostalgic I would get already, but no matter what, I am sticking with my plan to move forward. Citytown is behind me, and Islandtown is my future.
Tumblr media
I got a free tee-shirt in the mail from Dodo Airlines. Audie didn’t seem to care much about it and gave me a lecture on fashion. I guess she does know what she’s talking about. Maybe I should pawn it off on some poor unsuspecting fool…
Tumblr media
Until then, all I can do is think about my life choices while wearing this dumb dodo shirt…
Tumblr media
That night a terrifying thing happened. A tarantula appeared and tried to get Audie! Luckily for her, I had a bug net in hand. I crept up next to the little sucker and swiped my net! …Only to miss and get bitten by the arachnid. Luckily she dragged me back to my house and all was well again.
Tumblr media
You know, that’s a reoccurrence that I could never quite figure out. Whenever I am bitten by a spider or stung by bees to the point of passing out, I always wind up back in my home. Who is taking me there? Is that you, Antonio?
Day 8
I caught a Whale Shark! I thought about doing a little more fishing after my excellent finds two nights ago and my word I’ve done it again! Sure it was the most ridiculously heavy thing I’ve ever had to reel in — I’m surprised the line didn’t snap — but I did it!
Tumblr media
I brought it to Blathers to give it a nice new home in the museum. Let me tell you, finding a plastic baggie big enough to bring it in was its own challenge. He told me some interesting tidbits about the gentle giant. Learning can be fun sometimes!
Tumblr media
Is that an actual option?
I had also been working on a garden for a while now and I must say it is really coming along! I’m so pleased… That’s it. There’s no punchline. Not everything in life is a joke! Can’t I just have a moment of serenity for once in my life?
Tumblr media
Oh, I had nearly forgotten! Stitches finally moved in! I’m not sure why he was the last one to move in when I asked him first, but I guess he had a lot of things to unpack. I visited him to welcome him to the neighborhood as he unpacked and he was very persistent about cleaning the back left corner of his home… Even though the entire floor was coated in dirt.
Tumblr media
In other news, Audie and I have continued to bond and I’ve learned some things about her. She might not be as innocent as I initially thought…
Tumblr media
I didn’t realize you played Smash Bros too!
But then we got to chatting about movies and it turns out she’s writing one. A rock-opera to be exact. While I was genuinely interested, its plot was a little hard to follow…
Tumblr media
Really, all the neighbors and I have been getting along rather well. I jumped in on a conversation between Bud and Kitt, though, and it seems they have rather opposite tastes. Literally.
All these wacky shenanigans that go on in this town, I swear, it’d make for some kind of sitcom. I actually just received a cartoonist set from Kitt earlier, perhaps I’ll try my hand at it sometime. For now, these journals will have to suffice.
Tumblr media
Day 9
I had gotten a new room expansion for my house the other day and it seems that word spread quickly! Audie has been dying to come over and see the place since the first day, but now she has sort of been inviting herself over.
Tumblr media
It’s not that I don’t want her over, she’s easily become my best friend of all the island’s residents that live here. I simply want to gussy up the place before she comes. Still, she remains persistent… Is this what Antonio felt like about my persistence?
…Man, what a great feeling to be loved and admired so much.
I headed over to check in on Stitches today seeing as he was still new to island life. He seems to be progressing rather quickly and is already doing stuff.
Tumblr media
On another note, he keeps insisting that he has bug friends who live inside the floor and whisper things to him while he sleeps. Should I be concerned?
Tumblr media
Mabel dropped by today to set up shop in the town plaza. I always enjoy her selection of clothing to pick from. She’s also quite the trooper — It rained practically all day today, and still, she stood outside waiting for potential customers. I do think I was the only one though…
Tumblr media
She just stands there… Menacingly!
Later that night Audie insisted on coming over again. I did explain to her that I was waiting for the renovations on my new room aka extension walk-in closet to be finished before anyone saw, and she seemed to understand, so we went back to her place to chat for a while. I found it a little ironic that she didn’t want me to snoop around her house yet she kept trying to persuade me to invite her over to my house… Does she have a secret shrine of me?
Tumblr media
…That would be so sweet! She’s the best friend I ever had!
We later went on a late-night stroll and things got real. I told her about my previous fishing escapades and she kept freaking out. It seems she has a severe case of ichthyophobia.
Tumblr media
Day 10
The resident’s hall was under construction and they have now finished and revealed the new and improved plaza. It looks magnificent! Nook had even gotten new help from off-island. He hired Isabelle, my assistant from back home. I guess Citytown isn’t doing so hot without me…
Tumblr media
Now I have no quarrel with Isabelle under normal circumstances, but I can’t help but feel that Nook is trying to replace me. I am your island representative, not her! Don’t you dare get any ideas…
Tumblr media
Ugh, Isabelle, you make it so hard to hate you when you act so precious!
Anyway, it’s clear that I’m still the favorite of the residents. Stitches came by and gave me a house-warming gift even though he was the one who just moved in… Still, it was much appreciated.
Tumblr media
I dropped by the town hall today to carry on business as usual, but of course, Tom Nook just had to rave about what a great help Isabelle would be. I mean, sure, she did let me change the flag because of my magnificent artistic potential, but that doesn’t change anything! I’ve got my eye on you, Isabelle…
Btw, the flag looks fabulous.
Tumblr media
Other business included the construction of a suspension bridge. Of course, most of that money was coming out of my pocket, but still, if it could save me from a pole-vaulting accident, I’d gladly pay the majority.
I decided to look for more resources to sell off-island and the dodo’s brought me to a wonderful place. They brought me to an island filled with rare hybrid colored cosmos growing all over! It was truly a sight to behold! My garden would look absolutely stunning with some of these added in the variety! Why haven’t these dodo-brains ever brought me here before? Oh…
Tumblr media
In addition, I think my talk with Audie yesterday night helped her overcome her fear of fish. But I still don’t think she understands how fishing works…
Tumblr media
Day 11
I still needed to make some money for that suspension bridge, so I thought a little bug catching and tree shaking would do the trick. Kitt called out to me, asking if I was having a fun time bug catching. She then apologized for assuming, and though she did assume correctly, I appreciate her earnest apology.
Tumblr media
We also opened a campsite today! To think, the future resident of my town would soon be here! Nook was very persistent about persuading people to settle down here, and I couldn’t agree more. I wonder what kind of animal they would be? I wonder if maybe… No. Certainly he wouldn’t be there…
Tumblr media
Enough stressing myself out over the thought of my future resident. I also took another mystery flight from Dodo Airlines to see what magnificent isle they might bring me to today. Yesterdays “Hybrid Island,” as I am thoughtfully dubbing it, was a sight to behold. How could they ever top that?
In short, they didn’t. They brought me to an island where every fish in the river was a black bass. Every. Single. One.
Tumblr media
I hate you all…
As awful as that experience was, I had to be grateful that the ocean fish were not all sea basses. Ugh. I shudder at the very thought of such a place even existing. Still, I complained to their manager. I had already booked a Nook Miles Ticket in advance, so their flight tomorrow had better be good!
All the neighbors today kept stressing out about the Happy Home Designers committee and I just couldn’t understand why. They give you nice presents if you do a good job decorating your home, right? Well, when speaking to Audie, she presented it to me in a whole different way. I’ll never look at the Happy Home community the same way again…
Tumblr media
A friend of mine had invited me and another chum over to his island later that evening. It was a delightful night filled with picnics and hide-and-go-seek.
Tumblr media
I also met someone. Roald. His eyes were so striking, I could not look away. With that and his chiseled features, one could easily… No. Stop it. You are a one-anteater kind of woman! Someday he’ll come back. I know he will. Until then, I must resist the sweet temptations of this gorgeous hunk of penguin.
Tumblr media
Oh, you lift? I can tell…
Day 12
Today’s the day~
We have a guest at the campsite! Oh, I can’t wait to meet them! I’m so excited that I had to write about it the first minute I got up today! This lucky fellow isn’t even aware that they’re going to be our future resident! Ooo, I’m so excited! I have to go! I’ll write more when I get back tonight!
I don’t want to talk about it. Ugh, but I have to vent somewhere, don’t I?
Our guest today was Graham, the hamster. Ugh. I do not like Graham. Why? He’s such a wannabe poser! He claims he’s a celebrity and uses corny terms all the time. He greeted me by saying “Bonjourno!” and later exclaimed his excitement by shouting “Guten Tag!” First — that’s not even the same language as you were faking before, second, you’re not using that phrase properly! Don’t think I’m not onto you, hamster.
Tumblr media
To make matters worse, he doesn’t even refer to me by my name. He just calls me “Hey, you!” Do you even know who I am, pal? I’m more a celebrity than you’ll ever be!
Tumblr media
Ugh, after that nightmare finally ended (for now,) I needed a bit of joy in my life. Stitches was the perfect friend to brighten my day. But then I screwed that up too — I thought it would be cute to give him a stuffed Panda Bear, and then I remembered he is a stuffed bear. Oh, my dear sweet Stitches, I am so very sorry.
Tumblr media
Then Gulliver washed up on my shore again. Even he is aware of my excess loads of free time so, of course, I had to help him…
Tumblr media
I decided it was time to just take a breather and use that Nook Miles Ticket I had. I looked the pilot dead in the eyes before we took off and said, “I swear, if you bring me to black bass island one more time, it will be the last thing you ever do.” Needless to say, he brought me to Bell Rock island today. I went to the island with 5,000 bells and came home with 87,000. I am one satisfied customer.
By the way, how does that work? I understand when I chip away at a rock and things like stone or clay fall from it, but bells? Perhaps bells are actually a type of stone valued so much by the animal people it’s used as currency? You see, I could accept that, but the fact that sometimes it flies out of the rock wrapped in little bags, it just baffles me!
Tumblr media
Well, with all my profits from that trip I managed to pay for another bridge. Audie and I were discussing how this would benefit us by not having to use the vaulting poles anymore.
Tumblr media
Also, Kitt hurt my feelings today too. She said that my style was basic. She could see I was a bit upset by this, so she covered it up by saying she meant I wore basics well, but I knew what she really meant. I’m starting to remember why I let her move from Citytown…
Tumblr media
Yeah, well, your hat doesn’t match your jacket!
Though this day was full of ups and downs, the final part of my story ends with the highest high one could feel. Later in the evening, I thought I should attempt to find the rumored Tarantula Island. I haven’t had any luck finding a specimen for the museum, so certainly I would be able to find one in a place literally named after the creature. But I did not find the island. However, what I found was even better. Love.
Tumblr media
I got off the plane, and lo and behold, there he was. My precious, my darling — Antonio was there! I ran to his side, thrilled to see him, nearly jumping into his arms — but I controlled myself.
We talked and talked, catching up on life since we last saw each other. It turned out he was doing a survival training challenge, which is why he was out on the island. Typical Antonio. Still, his training was doing him wonders, ooh, those muscles!
Tumblr media
He also noticed how much I have been toning myself as well, what with all this island hopping and hard labor Nook tasks me with.
Tumblr media
He off-hand mentioned that he’d love to his island training full time, so I took the opportunity and asked him to move in with me— I mean, to Islandtown. After everything that had happened between us, I thought perhaps I came on a bit too strong, but he answered in the affirmative. Antonio, sweet, sweet, Antonio, is going to be part of my village once again!
Tumblr media
Despite all the bad things that happened today, I can rest easy knowing my favorite animal is going to be with me.
Tumblr media
Day 13
Graham was the first one to move in today, but Antonio will be here tomorrow! I’m so excited! Audie and I got together and talked about it all morning. It was funny because she was watching a romance movie the day before and had an inkling something special might happen!
Tumblr media
But sadly, poor little Stitches was sick today! I immediately ran over when Kitt told me the news and brought him some medicine. He was feeling a lot better afterward, but I told him he should still rest inside for the day.
Tumblr media
I proceeded from there to go to the Town Hall as Tom Nook had requested for my assistance — MY assistance, not Isabelle’s… Okay, Isabelle’s too. Ugh.
Tumblr media
If you think for one second that I’m your task force you’ve got another thing coming…
Anyway, the two of them asked me to keep inviting new residents to live in our town. Easy enough! I knew plenty of people from back home who would love to live here! I called up my girl Whitney from back home and invited her to camp out with us here on the island. I figured we’d hang out a bit and then I’d ask her about moving in.
Tumblr media
She was thrilled when I called her and came over immediately. We had such a good time catching up, it’s been so long! These past few days have been overwhelming me with emotion with so many familiar faces.
Tumblr media
However, when I mentioned that Whitney should move to Islandtown, she didn’t say no, but she didn’t quite feel ready yet. I get it. Citytown is a great place. I mean, it’s less great now that I’m not mayor anymore, but it’s still pretty cool. I’ll invite her over again after she’s thought it over a bit.
Oh! With my garden doing so well, I decided to set up my own little flower shop right outside my house. I stood there for three hours today and not a single customer. Mabel, I applaud your patience and durability.
Tumblr media
I was hoping to raise a bit of money through this stand to set up a bridge. You see, when I picked a spot for Antonio’s house to be, I didn’t realize he had no connection to the other parts of the island. It was imperative that I got this bridge funded and finished by tonight. Luckily I had some help from friends to donate enough bells for the project to be completed. It took a lot of hard work and a lot of fishing…
Tumblr media
But it will all be worth it. Tomorrow, my prince charming moves to town.
A Residents Representatives work is never done! With so many tasks to complete and more residents moving in, how will our solo human villager handle the heat? Read the New Leaf Diaries first here! Start from NH Diaries part 1: Permanent Island Getaway…

Fade Into You - Ch. 1
Title: Fade Into You (Chapter 1 of 5) Author: aliciameade Rating: T Pairing: Beca/Chloe Summary: Tip for newlyweds: send a wedding invite to every billionaire whose address you can find because it's a 50/50 chance their assistants just send you a perfunctory gift without ever wondering who the hell you are. Or: Beca had a really bad terrible idea when she got tired of being broke in New York.
Also on AO3 and FFnet, but I probably can’t link there idk.
Tumblr media
Beca wasn’t prepared for how expensive it was to live in New York City. Sure, she’d done her research; she knew it would be costly, but just how costly it was was wreaking havoc on her bank account. Rent, transportation, groceries, household necessities and the very rare luxuries like a concert or theater ticket here or there to keep her sanity had her living paycheck to paycheck. Even bringing two roommates with her to cram into the tiny Brooklyn studio didn’t help her live any more comfortably (considering only one of them chipped in for rent).
Of course, it probably helped her afford to eat.
Whatever. The point was that it was not quite the life she envisioned for herself once she landed what she thought was a Big Job.
But at least she had her friends.
“Why do I have so many cousins? And why are they all getting married?”
Beca watched Chloe sitting at their tiny dining table on Sunday afternoon (if you could even call it that) as she tossed aside a just-opened fancy envelope and what Beca assumed to be a wedding invitation. As far as she could remember, it was the fourth Chloe had received so far that year. “How many cousins do you have?”
“Sixteen. And I’m the baby of the family so they’re all either married or about to be. And here I am.” She gestured at nothing specific and sighed. “I can barely pay my share of the groceries. I can’t afford to go to all these weddings so I need to send something off their registry, but I can’t afford that, either.”
“Weddings feel like a ploy to get free shit from everyone you met once in your life,” Beca said as she watched Chloe stress out. “Like, congratulations on deciding to spend your life with one person. Why do I have to reward that?”
“It’s like an expectation. You either have to go to the wedding or send a gift. Or both!” Chloe slid her chair back from the table and took the two steps needed to get to their bed which she threw herself on a bit dramatically. “I’m just going to elope.”
She liked being on the same page as Chloe. “And miss out on all the free swag?” Beca said as she nudged Chloe’s foot with her own.
“I don’t want to be part of the problem!”
“Okay, okay!” Beca laughed. “So elope. Must be nice, though: send out a bunch of invitations to people you know won’t come and get a bunch of free stuff in return.”
“I know,” Chloe mumbled into her pillow. “It’s so messed up.”
A devious thought slid through Beca’s mind and she paused the music she’d been playing. “I need a new Keurig; ours is going to die any day now. I can feel it.”
Chloe turned onto her side to look up at Beca. “What does that have to do with anything?”
She closed her laptop and slid down to lie next to Chloe, eye-to-eye. “I have an idea. But before I tell you, I blame it entirely on Amy’s influence.”
“Why Amy?”
“You’ll see. Now hear me out. What if we sent out wedding invitations saying we’re getting married in, like, Fiji where no one we know can afford to go, and set up a wedding registry somewhere.”
“Beca, that’s, like, fraud. No wonder you blamed it on Amy.” Chloe frowned at her. “And no one would believe we’re getting married anyway.”
“Why not?”
“Because we’re not even dating!” Chloe said with a laugh. “And you don’t even like girls!”
Oh. Right. There were those little details that the people who would make sense to invite to their wedding would know she and Chloe weren’t together. Not to mention the giant elephant in Beca’s mental room that she was actually very into girls and very, very into Chloe.
Except literally no one in her new adult life knew either of those facts about her. The bisexual thing was weird to bring up unprompted at this point, and when she started dating Jesse in college, everyone just assumed she was straight and made it even weirder to try to correct.
And the Chloe thing, well...that was all sorts of messy and complicated.
“Okay, first of all, a person can fall in love with someone who’s not their usual...type, so anyone who says shit about that can fuck right off.”
Chloe seemed a bit surprised by her declaration but waved for her to continue. “And the fact that it’s me?”
She had to stop herself from saying, “It’s everything.” Instead, she said, “We’ve basically been living together for six years. I don’t think it’s that far-fetched.”
Chloe was quiet for a moment, thinking, and then a slow smile spread across her face. “Beca Mitchell, you devious little devil. You actually think this could work.”
“Well, why wouldn’t it? If Aubrey was getting married in, like, Fiji and you couldn’t afford to go, you’d send her something off her registry, right? That’s what you just said.”
“I would never miss Aubrey’s wedding,” Chloe said earnestly. “She’s my best friend. And she wouldn’t miss mine, either.”
“Okaaaaaay,” Beca drawled. “So we don’t invite our current friends. Or immediate family. Cousins, old coworkers, and friends from high school.”
“Can I invite Mrs. Higgins, my 8th grade choir teacher? She was my favorite teacher.”
“Yeah, I mean as long as she won’t try to show up—wait. You’d actually do this?”
“You’ve had worse ideas.”
“Have I though?” Beca shook her head. “This is dumb. Forget it.” She put away her computer and rolled out of bed. “I’m going to Target if you need anything. I’m out of conditioner.”
“I don’t think I do, but I’ll come with you.”
~ ~ ~
~ ~ ~
When Beca came home from work late on Monday, Chloe was laying in bed, laptop propped on her thighs. She was intently focused on whatever it was she was doing and didn’t look up at Beca’s entrance.
“Hey, weirdo,” Beca said as she kicked out of her shoes and pulled her own computer out of her bag to toss it onto the bed while she changed into comfy lounging clothes. “What are you doing?”
Chloe ignored her for a few more seconds before tapping the trackpad with particularly notable resolution and sitting up. “Hey!”
“Yeah, hey,” Beca laughed. “Seriously, what are you doing? Caught up in an intense Pinterest spiral?”
Chloe shook her head. “Come here; I want to show you something.”
“Is this going to be puppies or something dirty?” Beca knelt on their bed and walked her way up until she was sitting next to Chloe. There was no telling what Chloe had up her sleeve whenever she told Beca she wanted to show her something.
“Neither. Look.” She turned her screen toward Beca.
“What am I looking at?” she asked after a few seconds. “Because that looks like a wedding invitation with our names on it.”
“That’s what it is.”
She looked at the invitation on Chloe’s screen again and then looked at her. Chloe was biting her lip and almost buzzing with excitement. “And why is that a thing that exists?”
“I made it!”
Beca rolled her eyes. “And why did you make it?”
“We need invitations if we’re going to invite people to our wedding.”
“That idea was terrible! I told you to forget it; how much time did you spend on this?” She grabbed the computer away from Chloe so she could zoom in on it. The stationery had been painted with watercolors. It was quite pretty and one Beca wouldn’t be opposed to choosing for her actual wedding.
“A couple hours. I went with a silver and sage palette. I don’t think we’re a couple who has pink in their wedding.”
“Yeah, no,” Beca said, only half-listening because her brain was pretty hung up at the moment seeing the words ‘The Wedding of Beca and Chloe’ in script. “No pink.”
“I just put Fiji because you mentioned it yesterday but we can pick something else. And a date. Oh, and we’re registered at Amazon and IKEA.”
Picking a wedding locale and date with Chloe? Sure. Cool. “Wait. You already registered us?”
“Well, no, not yet,” Chloe scoffed as if Beca’s question was absurd. “That’s what’s on the registry cards that go with the invitations. We need to make our registries together next weekend.”
“I’m not sure if I should be concerned or proud that you’re so willing to go along with my terrible idea.”
“What’s the worst that could happen?” Chloe said with a shrug.
Beca was pretty sure a lot of bad things could happen like someone showing up to a non-existent wedding. Then again, all they’d really have to do is apologize and explain that the wedding was called off last-minute and point out their would-be guests would now have a vacation in Fiji without wedding activities to inconvenience them.
“Several things come to mind,” she said as she returned the computer.
Chloe elbowed her. “Okay. We need this to be far enough in advance that it doesn’t feel shotgun, but not too far that everyone can rearrange their schedules for it.”
“So it’s like I forgot to send out the invitations like I said I would and you found them in a box two months after they were supposed to have gone out?”
Chloe looked at her, holding her gaze. “That sounds exactly like something you would do.”
“And we should have it on, like, a Wednesday so it’s super inconvenient. With no holidays around it that people can use to save vacation days.”
“I feel like you’re a secret evil genius,” Chloe said as she flipped through the calendar on her computer. “How about October 2?”
“Perfect.”
They then spent more than an hour Googling Fiji and wedding location options. It took so long because they kept bickering about the venues; Chloe loved one but Beca hated it. Then Beca loved one and Chloe hated it. Every fifteen minutes or so, one of them would remind the other this was all fake and it didn’t matter, and the other would argue that it still had to seem real. They’d finally settled on a resort located on the edge of a rainforest that had more than enough amenities for a destination wedding.
“Well?” Chloe asked when she finished entering the details on the invitation. “Good?”
Beca stared at the screen and what they’d created inviting recipients to their wedding. It made her a little queasy so she swallowed hard. “Perfect.”
They ordered a set of one hundred invitations, response cards, registry cards, and envelopes for it all and agreed to split the expense equally.
“Did we seriously just do that?” Beca asked as she put away her credit card. “That shit is nonrefundable. We just burned five hundred dollars.”
“Think of it as a down payment on my new dinette set.”
“Your new dinette? Pretty sure that’s going to be ours, babe.”
Chloe cocked an eyebrow at her. “Babe?”
Beca blushed. “Wedding fever. Shut up.”
“You’re adorable,” Chloe said with a laugh as she grabbed Beca by the chin to give her a shake. “Careful, or I might marry you for real.”
She blushed even harder, her heart getting lodged in her throat. “Yeah, right, dude.”
“We’ll see,” Chloe said with a wink before hopping off the bed to leave Beca behind, heart still pounding. “It’s my turn to make dinner. What do you want?”
~~~
~~~
“How many names do you have so far?” Chloe asked from her lounging spot lying backward on their bed, feet rocking back and forth next to Beca.
Beca looked at the spreadsheet on her computer; she hated spreadsheets. Loathed them. But Chloe created one for their wedding invitation list so she could have Staples print the addresses on the envelopes once they arrived. Had they planned ahead like actual would-be brides, they’d have had the list ready to import when they ordered the invitations to let the printer do that. But alas. “Thirty-six. It’s hard to figure out who makes sense to invite to my wedding but wouldn’t actually come.”
“If you can get to forty, I can make up the difference.”
“I should invite the CEO of BFD; it’s not like he’d ever come. I’ve never even met him. He’d probably pick one of the expensive gifts, too.”
Chloe sat up quickly and Beca tried not to think about how strong her abs must be to do that. “Beca.”
“What?”
“You’re a genius.” She sat forward so suddenly Beca had a fleeting [stupid] thought that Chloe was about to kiss her but all she did was turn around to sit next to her and look at the list on Beca’s screen. “But don’t add him; I don’t want to put your career at risk. Put your douche boss from Residual Heat instead; there’s no way he’d come.”
“O...kay,” Beca said as she typed his name. She’d have to look up her old studio’s mailing address later. “But why am I a genius?”
“We can invite a handful of CEOs and tech bigwigs who won’t know whether or not we work for them. We send it to their office and their assistant will just buy something off our registry without bothering to look us up.”
“Should I be concerned that your mind is this twisted?” Beca asked as Chloe commandeered her laptop to open Google and start searching.
“Did you forget this was your idea to begin with?”
She watched Chloe pull up the address for the headquarters of Apple. “A little ambitious, don’t you think?”
“Are you kidding? The bigger the company the bigger the chance we get a ‘declines with regret’ and you get that Ableton Push you think I didn’t see you add to our Amazon registry.”
Beca grumbled under her breath to hide her guilt. She’d gotten a little click-happy the other night after a couple beers and added a few non-traditional items to their list like high-end mixing equipment and the new Xbox.
“I’m just going to pick ten companies from the Forbes 500. Let’s see what happens. And now you don’t have to come up with the rest of your list!”
“Sounds great,” she said with a tight-lipped smile.
Something in her gut was telling her they were taking this much too far. But that new Ableton was so, so pretty…
~~~
~~~
“Becs, honey,” Chloe said when Beca opened the door to head to work.
Beca turned, patting herself down to make sure she had her keys and phone. “What’s up?”
“Don’t forget to mail the invitations.” She smiled at Beca and pointed at the shoe box on the table containing their pretty little scams. Amy had stuffed the envelopes for them last night and was naturally agreeable to their little business venture. They’d obliged her request to add an absurd inflatable bounce house to their list as payment for her help as long as she promised to never try to set it up in the apartment.
Beca was pretty sure Amy had her fingers crossed behind her back when she agreed.
She picked it up and rapped her fingernails on it. “Are you sure we should do this? I feel kind of guilty.”
“We got our list down to eighty-nine people we barely know—or don’t know at all. It’s going to be fine. Don’t worry.”
“Yeah, okay,” Beca said with a nod, though being told not to worry didn’t magically erase her concerns. “You’re right. I’ll see you after work. It’s my turn to cook, so text me what you want and I’ll pick it up on my way home.”
“I’m totes going to be the one who actually cooks in this marriage, aren’t I?”
“Trust me; it’s for the best. I’ll see you later.”
“Bye, sweetie!”

Beca dropped the stack of thick, fancy envelopes into the outgoing mail drop on the corner by her subway stop on her way to work, and that was it.
The deed was done.

Three days later...
When Beca came home from work she found Chloe at the table but she wasn’t sipping her usual tea and wearing a smile at Beca’s return.
Instead, she was visibly nervous, her arms crossed and eyes fixed on her untouched tea.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Beca asked and moved to sit across from her. “Are you okay?”
“Promise you won’t get mad?” Chloe said in a small voice, eyes refusing to meet Beca’s.
“It’s hard to promise that when I don’t know what’s wrong, but I’ll try. What’s going on?”
Chloe closed her eyes and sighed. “My parents got one of our invitations.”
“What?!” Beca almost launched from her chair; she gripped the edge of the table to stay put and she saw Chloe flinch at her outburst. She tried to lower voice when she demanded, “How?”
“I checked the spreadsheet because I know I didn’t put them on it.” She sounded on the verge of tears. “But it looks like it got corrupted, like it combined with my Christmas card list.”
Beca’s blood ran cold. “My dad’s on your Christmas card list, too.” She’d barely finished the sentence when her phone started ringing in her pocket. She could hear Chloe’s text alerts almost non-stop from where her phone sat on her bedside table. “Who else ended up on the list?”
Chloe closed her eyes and shook her head. “I’m so, so sorry.”
Beca pulled her phone from her pocket; she already knew. She didn’t even bother looking at the screen as she swiped the screen to answer it. “Hey, Dad.”
“You and Chloe are getting married?!” he crowed into the phone. “Why didn’t you say anything sooner? Oh, Beca I’m so happy for you both; you’re perfect together!”
“We’re not—wait.” She straightened. “Huh?”
“I knew it was only a matter of time.”
She looked at Chloe across the table who was oblivious to what her father was saying. She seemed to assume it to be terrible the way she was hiding half her face behind her hand. She looked miserable.
“Yeah…” Beca replied. She felt bad; this was all her doing and now Chloe’s going to be humiliated having to tell everyone in her life that she tried to do something dumb. Or that her fake relationship failed. And all her cousins were getting married… “We’re...really happy.”
Chloe’s hand fell and her eyes went wide. “What are you doing?” she whispered.
“And I’m so happy for you. The date is going to be tough for me to get away in the middle of the semester, but there’s no way I’m going to miss my little girl’s big day. Is there a block of rooms reserved for guests? Should I just give your name when I call?”
“Um, no. Sorry. We...we splurged on the trip so we couldn’t lock down rooms for everyone.”
“Don’t you worry; I’ll take care of the rooms. It’s the least I can do. I’ll call the resort and give them my information.” It was Beca’s turn to cover her eyes. “Thanks, Dad. That’s so generous.”
“Anything for you and my soon-to-be daughter-in-law.”
“Thanks. Listen, I just got home and Chloe and I have a lot to talk about. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”
“Sure, pumpkin.”
Beca ended the call and set down her phone with a long exhale. “Shit.”
“What happened?” Chloe asked sounding as sheepish as she did excited.
“He’s...going to pay for everyone’s rooms at the resort for our wedding.”
Chloe blinked hard and sat back. “What?”
“He thinks we’re perfect together. And he wasn’t surprised at all. Well, he was surprised by the wedding. Not about us being together.” Which we’re not. “What did your parents say?”
Chloe cleared her throat. “They offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner and the reception.”
“What?” Beca said with a barked laugh.
“They’re over the moon for us. Asked what took us so long.” She looked like she wanted to disappear into her chair, which was a unique state for Chloe to be in.
“But you didn’t tell them it’s fake.”
“Did you tell your dad it’s fake?” Chloe countered. “No, you didn’t. You just went along with it.”
Beca sank into her chair, too. “And now our parents are ecstatic we’re getting married.” There was a lot to unpack with that fact and all that came with it. Chloe’s texts were still chiming and a minute later, Beca’s started up, too. “Seriously, who else got invited?”
With a sigh, Chloe slid a piece of paper across the table. Printed on it was a spreadsheet set up just like what they’d made to send to Staples, except it was a mish-mash of their distant cousins, millionaire executives, and people they actually knew. Their parents. The owner of the vet clinic Chloe was interning at.
Aubrey, Emily, and the rest of the Bellas.
“Oh, my God, how did this happen?” Beca said with a groan as she crumpled the paper and tossed it toward the trash can. (She missed.)
“I told you: I don’t know! All I can think is that my files were named List1 and List2 and somehow they got combined or maybe I didn’t delete everything from one of them before I saved it.” She reached across the table and grabbed Beca’s hands. “Beca, I’m so, so sorry. I’ll take care of everything. I’ll let everyone know it was just a prank gone wrong.”
Beca was about to agree when she remembered how excited her father sounded. “Your parents were really happy?”
Chloe managed a sad laugh; she still looked on the verge of tears and Beca couldn’t blame her. She felt like she might cry herself. “My mom said she was starting to get worried you were never going to propose.”
“Oh, my God,” Beca said, blushing hard. “She didn’t even know that we were dating. Or, that we weren’t dating. Whatever. What did you say?”
“I told her I asked you.”
“You proposed to me?!” Beca scoffed. “As if you would! I would totally ask you to marry me before you even had a chance!”
Chloe blinked at her, her worry and sadness starting to fade into a soft smile. “You would?”
Beca realized what she’d said and shook her head. “Nevermind. I should have looked at the envelopes before I dropped them off.”
“You didn’t have a reason to. This isn’t your fault.”
“Except that it was all my idea?” Beca said with a crooked smile. “You’d think Amy would have realized they were wrong when she was stuffing them. She knew the plan.”
Chloe sighed and let go of Beca’s hands to run her own through her hair. “Something tells me she knew they got messed up.”
“Why would you think that?”
Chloe shot her a look.
“Because it’s Amy. Right.” She sighed, too. “I need a drink.” Beca stood up and headed for the fridge, the top of which held their liquor collection. “What do you want?”
“Whiskey, neat,” Chloe answered as she pushed aside her tea.
“Yeah. Me, too.”
~~~
~~~
They waited until they were both two whiskeys in before they agreed to get on Skype with Aubrey.
“This is how you tell me you two are a thing?” Aubrey said as she waved the invitation in front of her camera. “A little warning would have been nice.”
“It all happened so fast, Bree,” Chloe said. “I guess living together in such close quarters...well, it brought some things to light.”
It was so convincing that Beca almost believed her. Except she didn’t know why they were lying to Aubrey. Not wanting to immediately disappoint their excited parents was one thing, but going along with it with Aubrey… She nudged Chloe from her spot next to her where they sat closely in bed so they could both be mostly in frame and threw her a look she hoped read, What the hell are you doing?
Chloe just winked at her and slipped her arm behind her to wrap around her waist and pull her closer.
“Well, as disappointed as I am that you didn’t think to tell me, I’m thrilled for you both.”
“You are?” Beca scoffed.
“Why wouldn’t I be? You two are good for each other. And I know you’ll take care of my best friend.”
Beca had to fight hard to not blush. “Yeah. Well...that’s the plan.”
“So, Fiji? I’ve always wanted to go! Do you have a wedding planner? And Chloe, I can’t believe you haven’t asked me to be your Maid of Honor yet! We made a pact!”
Chloe cleared her throat. “Right! I was getting to that! I’d love it if you’d be my Maid of Honor.”
“What are you doing?” Beca muttered from the side of her mouth.
“Asking my bestie to be in our wedding,” Chloe muttered in return.
“I’d be honored!” Aubrey said with a bright grin. “Now you have to let me take over the planning. You can’t do this all by yourselves. Put me in touch with your contact at the resort and I’ll take it over. What have you arranged so far?”
“Well, we could barely get the invitations out without trouble…” Chloe started and Beca elbowed her. “So we haven’t really had a chance to get going yet. We haven’t even put down the deposit to reserve the space yet—”
“Don’t say another word,” Aubrey said with her hand up. “I’m going to take care of that as my gift to you both.”
“Thanks, Bree. That means so much.” Chloe grasped Beca’s hand and pulled it up to kiss it.
Beca just stared at her in shock.
“Right, Becs?”
“Uh, yeah. Right. Thanks, Aubrey,” Beca offered. “We gotta go, though,” she added, desperate to end the torture.
“Okay. Remember to send me that info and I’ll send you the confirmations once I get it taken care of this week.”
“Totes. I’ll text you later.”
“Perfect. Have a good night, you two!”
“Bye!” Chloe chirped and Beca offered a weak wave as Chloe disconnected the call.
“Oh, my God, Chloe, we can’t keep this up!” she said as soon as the screen was blank. “What are we doing?!”
“Everyone’s so excited for us; I don’t want to disappoint them.” Chloe turned a little to look at her and she was so close Beca could see the different specks of light and dark in Chloe’s eyes. “We’ll tell them soon.”
“Aubrey’s going to spend money on this. We can’t let her do that.”
“I’ll wait a few days to send her the info and then we’ll just tell it’s off.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
~~~
~~~
Not two hours had passed when both their phones chimed with a group text from Aubrey to the two of them. Chloe was taking a bath when it came in so Beca opened it and read it aloud so she could hear it.
“Was too excited! Looked up the resort info and got it booked. Oh, my God. They said they didn’t have any record of your interest—gee, I wonder why—and the day was already booked for some corporate retreat but I got them to move it for the wedding. Of course she did. Good thing you let me take care of it! You might not have had a venue. Damn it, Chloe!”
“Well, it’s not my fault!”
“Then whose fault is it?!”
Nothing but silence followed from behind the shower curtain.

Valentine
I wrote this for the lovely Rested (@the-well-rested-one).  I am posting here with her permission.  A little Nick Grimshaw.   M/M. Hope you like.
Bloody stupid holiday. Who came up with this anyway? The one day a year that single people were made to feel worse about their plight assuming, of course, that they were unhappy to be sans lover.  Why do I even care?  It’s purely a commercial day made up by the chocolatiers and florists and greeting card writers.  Frivolous waste of money if you ask me.
Nick was so intent on his inner monologue that he didn’t hear the cute guy behind the counter ask for his order.
“Oh, sorry.  I’ll have a venti Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino with extra whipped.”
He paid and then moved over to a table to wait for the 400 calories of caffeinated goodness.  He had been so good, so good, when he and Meshach were together.  He’d started every day with a smoothie and never missed a workout.  But screw that.  Mesh had gone on to greener pastures and Nick was drowning his sorrows with ‘coffee’.  He should be over it by now, it had been months since Mesh had left.  But Nick was recovering slowly from this one.  Maybe he was meant to be alone after all.  He had thought that he was in love with Mesh and vice-versa but when he had told Nick that he was leaving, it wasn’t as devastating as he had imagined it would be.  They hadn’t fought but there was a glaring problem in their relationship:  Harry Styles.  Mesh was jealous of Harry.  He had wanted Nick to stay away from him, said Harry was a threat to their relationship.  It was a test and Nick had failed miserably.  So Meshach had left to pursue someone other than an ‘Old Queen stuck on a guy who didn’t love him back.’  Okay, so that one had hurt.  Mostly because it was true.
He heard the barista call his name and went to pick up his whipped cream topped calorie fest.  He would have preferred mimosas but BBC1 frowned upon drinking alcohol on the job.  Who knows?  An intoxicated Nick might let something slip and then all hell would break loose.  Nick headed out the door into the temperate air and down Great Portland Street to the BBC studios sipping his drink and looking about at the pedestrians.  He saw several men carrying pink envelopes and packages in a hurry to get to their destinations.
Bollocks.
Pushing through the outer door and waving to George, the security guard, Nick made a beeline for the elevator.  Yeah, he should probably have taken the stairs but he just didn’t want to.  To hell with that.  So he had gained a few pounds since the breakup.  What of it?  He had been too thin drinking all those juices and fasting and working out.  Yeah, that was it. He was almost convincing himself.  What happened to the men who wanted a normal guy instead of the impossibly hard-muscled exercise fanatics?  A little pudge never hurt anyone.  Look at Harry with those little love handles.  Men and women adored them and professed the desire to just “nibble” them.  Okay, bad topic.   He didn’t want to think about nibbling Harry anywhere right now, his jeans were too tight to be sporting a boner in the office.  The elevator door opened and he stepped out into the warren of cubicles.  Slurping the remains of his drink while walking to his desk, every person who passed him smiled in a knowing way.  Narrowing his gaze suspiciously at the tenth person to smirk at him, he rounded the corner to his office.
On his desk was an enormous vase with at least three dozen red roses.  What was this?  Rarely was Nick shocked into silence but he stood mouth agape while his mind raced. Who?  He noticed a card on the arrangement and plucked it off.
To:  Nick Grimshaw
From: Someone who loves you.
Oh that was helpful.  It was even typed so no clues from the handwriting.  Were they from a fan?  His mum?  Alexa?  He sniffed.  Their perfume was filling his office.  He buried his face in them and inhaled deeply.  God he loved roses.  Standing up straight he could not remove the smile from his lips.
Someone coughed behind him and he turned to see Annie Mac smiling at him.
“Check you out, lover!  Who’re they from?”
Nick hesitated, an embarrassed heat rising to his cheeks.
“Don’t know.”
“Well, what’s the card say?”
“Says they’re from ‘someone who loves’ me,” he answered quietly.
“A secret admirer!  Oh that’s the ticket.  You’ll just have to do some detective work.”
Annie backed out of the doorway and Nick was alone once again.  Who would have sent these to him? The mystery would have to wait, he had a show to get ready for.  He sat at the desk and logged in to the computer.  He checked the latest headlines and made some notes.  E-mail was next and he skimmed through the 30 or so he had received since yesterday, aware of the constant stream of people past his office stopping to have a look at his flowers.  He made a growly sort of noise under his breath and opened another message.  He was typing a reply when someone knocked at his door.  Looking up he saw a young man wearing a DoorDash jacket holding a McDonald’s bag.
“Are you Mr. Grimshaw?”
Nick cringed at the ‘mister’ but acknowledged that he was.
“I have this delivery for you.  I’m supposed to tell you to check the bag for a note.”
Nick looked at the kid with confusion, but accepted the food.  He rooted his wallet out and tipped the guy.  Opening the bag he felt the heat from the fries.  The kid must have hustled if the food was still hot.  Next to the fries was a quarter pounder with cheese.  He freaking loved quarter pounders. He hadn’t ordered this. Who had?  Remembering the kid saying there was a note he looked deep into the bag.  At the bottom there was a child’s t-rex skeleton valentine signed “Someone who loves you.”  What the hell was going on?  He smiled and munched on a few fries before digging into the burger.  While eating he went down a mental list of who the mysterious person might be.  The alarm on his mobile dinged and he clicked it off then began cleaning up the detritus from his meal.  He picked up his daily file and his phone and headed to the studio.  Fifteen minutes later he began “Hello everybody! Grimmy here. Happy Valentine’s day!”
At 5:45 when the afternoon Newsbeat began, Nick took a quick break.  Heading to his office to get another bottle of water out of the small fridge there he found a wrapped package on his desk.   The card said “From Someone who loves you.”  He didn’t have time to open it but just shook his head in wonder and headed back to the studio.  He had only a couple of minutes until he was back on the air for another hour.
“And that’s it for me everybody.  See you on MONDAY!”
Nick hit the outro and took off his headphones as Annie Mac suited up for her show.  They chatted for a few minutes and then Nick headed to his office to finish up and head out.  Well, head home.  He wasn’t going out.  Biggest date night of the year and he didn’t have one.  What he did have was three more wrapped gifts on his desk. He just stared at them as if they might explode.  Oh Cripes. What if they were bombs? He edged toward the desk and took a closer look.  Each was tagged with a typed “From Someone who Loves You.”  He only debated for a moment before sitting down and pulling one over.  Gently tearing the paper he unwrapped it to find a bottle of his favorite cologne. He smiled.  He was almost out at home.  This was perfect.
He was a little less timid opening the next one which contained a small package of Charbonnel et Walker truffles.  Oh god they smelled good.  He would wait until he got home to eat them, and he would eat them all.  The next gift was a hammered copper tea kettle from the mid-1900s along with a sampling of teas from TWG.  He heard himself coo over it.  It was polished to a high sheen and he could not stop the smile that spread over his face.  He opened the last package and let out a small whoop of delight. A gift certificate to the hot new restaurant HIDE was nestled in some glittery tissue paper.
He sat back and looked at his haul.  All the gifts had to have been chosen just for him; his favorite tea, his favorite chocolate, an antique kettle for his collection.  Someone took a great deal of time to make this day special for him.  But who the hell?  He finished his ruminating and packed up his gifts then headed out of the office.  Harry was coming over for pizza and a movie and he didn’t want to be late.
*
Nick had just finished dressing after his shower when he heard the door buzzer.  Harry must have forgotten his key again.  He opened the door to see his friend carrying a bottle of wine, a pizza box and a bouquet of bright flowers.  Nick took the wine and flowers and Harry kissed his cheek as he passed on his way to the kitchen.  After greeting Pig and Stinky properly, he noticed the roses.
“Nice flowers.  Who are they from?”  Harry asked.
“Don’t know.”
“What do you mean?”
“The card says from ‘someone who loves you’.”
“That’s strange.  You have no idea?”
“No and that’s not the half of it.  There were gifts and even a quarter pounder.”
“Woah.  You must have a fan,” Harry said with his dimples making an appearance.
“Yeah.  Proof that there’s at least one,” Nick smiled ruefully.
They moved to the lounge and put the pizza on the table before loading the DVD in the player.
“Oh not this one again.  Seriously, we’ve seen this at least a dozen times.”
“Nicholas, you cannot see “The Notebook” too many times.  Besides, it’s perfect for the day—a lifelong love affair.”
“God, you are such a romantic.”
Harry gave him a grin.   “Shut up and pour the wine.”
Nick’s mind began to wander about halfway through the movie.  Harry was stretched out next to him watching with rapt attention, his lips moving along with the words.  Nick rolled his eyes.  He turned his attention to his mysterious gift giver.  He ran down the list of possible people, dismissing each one. He was so engrossed in his mystery, he didn’t realize that the movie had been paused. Harry had sat up and was looking at him.
“What?”
“You aren’t watching.  Again.”
“I’m trying to figure out who sent all this stuff to me.”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“No, not to me.”
“So you have spent the day thinking of all the people who love you.”
“I guess…I guess I have. Yes,” Nick answered thoughtfully.
Harry was staring at him with those intense green eyes.  Nick almost got lost in the depths.
“Well then good.  Though I am a bit disappointed that you didn’t immediately know it was me.”
Nick felt a rush of adrenaline and, what was that? Hope. Oh god it was hope.  He just stared at Harry, mouth agape. Harry reached his hand up and Nick expected him to push his chin up and close his lips but instead he caressed his cheek.  Before Nick could react, Harry kissed him.  It was a sweet, slow kiss.  He pulled back and looked at Nick’s surprised expression.  With a smile, he leaned in again and kissed him more thoroughly.  Nick reveled in the taste of him, it was addictive.  Nick leaned back as Harry continued his conquest of his mouth.  Harry began kissing along his jaw, soft and tender.
Nick groaned as Harry paused to unbutton his shirt.
“Who else knows about you and the tea kettles?  Hmm?”  Harry asked as he opened the silk exposing his skin.  Harry’s tongue found the pulse in his neck and sucked lightly before moving down to his nipples.   Nick felt an almost electric shock run through his body and coalesce in his cock.  He was light headed, probably from the blood rushing to his genitals.  Harry kept toying with his nips until Nick was squirming with desire.
“You should have guessed me first.  Because I love you.”
Harry ran his tongue around Nick’s navel and headed lower.  Nick wrapped his fingers in those chocolate curls as the delicious arousal turned his bones to jelly.  His happy trail provided a path that Harry obligingly followed, skin and muscles clenching as he moved.
Harry paused to unbutton Nick’s jeans, sliding his finger along the waistline on his now hypersensitive skin.
“I love you Nick Grimshaw.  I always have,” Harry said, making eye contact.  “I am not quite ready to settle down.  Not just yet.  But when I am, it’s you.”
Nick blinked in surprise.  He almost pinched himself.  Harry.  He had loved him from the first. The vivacious teen with his sweet and naughty demeanor.  The beautiful boy who was now the beautiful man in front of him.  His hands were shaking.
“I plan to marry you.  To adopt 4 or 5 kids with you.  To grow old with you.”
Harry wiped a tear from Nick’s cheek and kissed him again.
“Now, let me love you silly goose.”
Harry had Nick’s jeans unzipped and he lifted his hips so that Harry could pull them down.  Harry smiled and licked his lips at the bulge in Nick’s boxers.  Nick shivered in anticipation.  Harry, the tease that he was, took his time licking and running his fingers over the fabric barely containing Nick’s erection.  Hooking his index fingers under the elastic, Harry lifted it over and pulled it down.  Nick’s cock sprang free and slapped lightly against his abdomen. That was all the encouragement Harry needed.  He went to work, sucking and licking and fingering until Nick was panting.  The sight of those soft pink lips wrapped around him again…it had been so long.  Harry slid his tongue under the foreskin and circled the head, collecting all the salty liquid oozing from the tip. When Harry took him all into his mouth and swallowed around him Nick began to babble and buck his hips.
Harry popped off and grinned at him as his fingers swirled Nick’s balls on their way lower, to massage the opening.  Nick clenched and groaned.  Harry intensified his massaging and resumed his oral attack.  Pushing a finger slowly inside caused Nick to groan and close his eyes.  Two fingers and a deep throat and Nick shouted as he came.  Harry swallowed the evidence and eased his fingers out as Nick flinched at the feeling on his sensitive flesh.
Harry slid back up Nick’s body and kissed him.
Nick whispered “I love you so much.”
Harry grinned and kissed him again.  “As I love you.”

Julie’s Love Yourself Concert Diary
Concert Date: September 29, 2018
Written: September 30, 2018
Warnings: I curse more than I should?
Words: 3,330ish-added a few  things at the last minute (phew!)
A/N:
[Update: Tumblr couldn’t upload all my photos that I spent awhile choosing and placing, so I’m going to have to pare it down. Sorry bbs! I opted to cut my personal & merch photos in favor of the boys]
So I have one thousand and one things I should be working on-for school, for work, for my eventual job hunt. But instead I am going to write about last night’s experience while it was still fresh in my mind. I was thinking of doing a song-by-song play-by-play, but you can look up the setlist on Wikipedia, so instead I am going to talk about the things that jumped out at me. WARNING: This is essentially one giant spoiler, so I will try to put a “Read More” cut, though it’s been being weird for me lately. So scroll carefully if you’re going to a later date and don’t want to know. All photos taken on my (now ancient) iPhone 6, so I tried to choose the best ones). Will edit as I see typos I made.
I’m a little nervous since I usually write fiction instead of sharing my personal experience. Anyway, full disclosure that this is just my perspective, and I’m (always) happy to discuss things (civilly) if you disagree with me.  <3  Photos and opinions are mine.- please don’t re-post anywhere else.
The Background/ Pulling a Namjoon and Leaving my Ticket at Home
Even though I was going to the Saturday show, I flew into LaGuardia using frequent flyer miles on Friday morning. I was staying with a friend in Queens, so I went straight to her apartment. I’m a grad student as most of you probably know at this point, so I spent most of Friday working on a paper that was due. I had two friends I met at last year’s concert going to the Friday concert, and they went for merch promptly at 9, but I had just arrived and had a deadline to meet for school.  Around 4:30PM, I decided that I was done for the day and opened Ticketmaster to print my ticket for the next day’s show. When I logged in, I saw the notice that the ticket had been mailed to me. I remembered having seen that when I bought the ticket in May, but in my defense I was jet-lagged and ill on that day. Furthermore, I moved to and from NYC in that time for a summer internship, and SO MUCH HAD HAPPENED. The tickets had been mailed while I was living here and I had never seen them, so somehow it slipped my mind. Obviously I lived too far away, but I didn’t know if I could express overnight them, but I think when I called Ticketmaster, the old ones were deactivated when the guy tried to send me the link.
Anyway, print at home was not an option, so I called Ticketmaster and in a panic explained my situation. They said it happened all the time and offered to send me a link. Luckily I kept the rep on the line, because it turned out that even they couldn’t email a link because of the anti-scalpers/fraud/whatever.
Then the rep said that I could show the credit card, but I had literally cut it up the week prior since the Vendor (e.g. the store that the card was through) had switched their card to a different bank (e.g. Visa to Mastercard), so I seemed shady af, even though I was telling the truth. He said as long as I had a login to a statement showing the transaction (I didn’t, since they had opted to close the account at an institutional level).  So I called my mom frantically, and luckily she is the hyper-organized type who keeps paper copies of everything and sent them to me. Seriously, Mom for the win!  I run to this print shop as it’s closing and print everything out.  I had the Ticketmaster receipt & order #, and two photo ID’s confirming my address. The guy said it should be fine, but I was on the verge of a mental breakdown. This was my one birthday gift and something I had been looking forward to for months. Anyway, my friend and I went out to a local bar near the Halsey (yes, the singer took her name from the station) stop on the L line, and I was super anti-social because I was so upset. I also burst a blood vessel in my eye  (it will heal, no worries) because of too much birthday partying the prior weekend, so I’m sure I was a (sour) sight to behold.
I slept poorly for obvious reasons, and left the apartment around 7AM, and arrived to Prudential center around 8:30ish. There were only a few people outside of will call, but the GA line was already wrapped around the building. I made small talk with people outside of the box office, and one woman told me she had gotten soundcheck both days. Seriously, what kind of karma do I need for that to happen to me? She and her friends had been camping out since Thursday, and they were SUPER organized: while she waited in line, one was at merch, and someone else was holding their GA site. I almost wondered if they were a fansite or something. ARMY are a truly organized bunch (except for me, clearly).
Anyway, after another half hour of pure anxiety, they opened up will call and I was panicking, but they were really helpful and gave me my ticket after I verified the order number, showed my id and confirmed some other personal data. I decided then and there that nothing else mattered and I was just happy to be there and be in.
Waiting in line/Logistics/Staff
I left the box office, and got into the GA line. It was probably around 9:15, and the line had already doubled-back on itself all the way around the building. The woman from earlier told me that her friend had got #1000 and was only 3 rows back, so I still had some hope. Basically, you line up to get your spot in line- though it’s kinda dumb that you have to line up twice, it makes security go faster and guarantees that there isn’t a huge surge/stronger people cutting  in line later.
I wore what I thought were my most comfortable shoes, but after standing on concrete for hours, I don’t think it makes a difference. People were so friendly though-  I never once felt awkward even though I was by myself. The same was true last year- the friends who had gone up for merch on Friday I met while in line at last years’ Wings concert. I chatted with people around me, drank the two bottles of water I had, and looked at my phone. Bring an umbrella for shade and sunscreen though-I didn’t and am rocking a nice farmers burn/tan today.  It wasn’t humid though, and it wasn’t raining, so it could have been so much worse.
Even though there were tons of people, everyone was well-behaved. I didn’t see any altercations, though as the day went on the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with crowd control.  I didn’t see too many people selling unofficial merch like last year, though I did buy a few necklaces (Joon and Chim, ofc).
After 3.5 hours, I finally got my wristband. They told us to be back by 2pm to line up for real, as they were going to try to open the doors at 3 instead of 3:30 (didn’t end up happening).
Merch
I then ran to merch, but there wasn’t much left. The fans/pickets were selling out as I got in line, and people were basically yelling “NOOOOOOOO” everytime the staff put up a “SOLD OUT” sticker. I bought what I could that was left, including a bracelet, which I’m actually in love with, the eco-tote (super overpriced tbh, $50 for a canvas bag), but the shopper bags were gone and I needed something to carry the box and batteries V3 ARMY Bomb I bought. I had one from last year that I also forgot, but I think the new version was cool because they are synced up with the music so you can change colors and patterns along with everyone else. Overall, it’s EXPEN$$$$IVE, but if anyone’s worth it, it’s Bangtan.
Newark
I was getting super tired after this, so I kinda passed on the photo studio table, big poster, and UNICEF stuff. I tried to go to Starbucks, but even though it was the middle of the day, I didn’t feel that safe, even though it was like 11:45 in the middle of the day. I’m a 27 year old who’s lived in Latin America (which is generally stereotyped for violence), solo traveled around the world, and I’m from the Rust Belt (aka home of true urban decay), but that part of Newark sketched me the heck out. Probably it would have been fine, but I opted for caution, and went to a Dunkin Donuts and empanada place right around the corner. The timing was actually good since we had to get back pretty quickly to line back up.
The second line was where the staff struggled, telling people to back up and get in order, but it seemed like staff were doing different things. Plus, if they wanted people to back up, they should have created room at the back first, before telling the front to basically “back that ass up” on the people behind them.
GA vs. Seated
I can say this- if you are short, you probably want a seat. Or if you have any kind of knee, back, or joint problems- I stood for approximately 14 straight hours on concrete yesterday. I am just under 5”5” but I was probably one of the taller people in the crowd, so I had a pretty good view. Even though they asked people to not take videos or record, you WILL be looking through a sea of cell phones. I could see pretty well, but sometimes when they were on the main stage I had a hard time seeing around other people’s arms.
Tumblr media
Last time I had P2 seated, and the view was wonderful. I went to the bathroom, charged my phone, and ate nachos (lol), so it was generally a more chill experience. I was still super close but up a little higher and could see absolutely everything. But last night I was SO close I could see Joon’s dimples irl, and got splashed by both Jungkook and J-Hope when they threw the water bottles.  Probably 100 people think this, but I’m also pretty sure Yoongi  (and maybeeee Jimin) saw me jumping and singing along like crazy since I was one of the taller people. At the very least, Yoongi keep looking in the general direction I was in. Ofc I looked gross af with my messed up eye and crazy hair, but what I loved about the concert is that I was 100% able to forget all the insecurities I carry around with me on a day to day basis and have an AMAZING time.
Of course the whole place is crazy high energy, but I feel like last night was INSANELY high. I’m not sure if it was the overall vibe or if that was the GA influencing my opinion.  It just depends on what kind of experience you want to have. Also, if you are claustrophobic, you should probably pass on GA. The guards kept forcing people to back up, at one point even coming in with a flashlight, and people would surge forward whenever a member came close. But someone said the night before was chill, so maybe it’s just luck of the draw.
The Show
The show was absolutely amazing. They opened with IDOL, which got people hyped from the get-go. Their dancing was ON POINT as always. People were chanting during the intro videos and chatting as it filled in, so it was a great vibe once again- just super happy feeling. The audio visual part was AMAZING, though I’m no pro, and I loved all of the concert outfits, especially Jimin’s super sparkly sweater. Lots of jumping, and lots of screams. I didn’t have earplugs and was fine, but if you’re sensitive to loud sounds I definitely recommend them. ISTG I remembered hearing a mashup of FIRE, but maybe not? Wikipedia seems to think not. But they played a few older ones too, which made me so soft and nostalgic.
Tumblr media
More on the members during the concert
Kim Namjoon
Ok, this is so so so biased, let me start with that. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know how much I love this man. Seeing him smiling and happy was amazing. And they had a professional translator for this concert, so I felt like Joon was able to relax a little and enjoy himself instead of worrying about translating for everyone else.  He is just as tall and proportional as everyone says he is.  Everyone talks about how soft he is these days (and I love it), but he has undeniable charisma when he raps. Plus him in sunglasses, ddaeng. Seeing him so close was akin to something spiritual for me (I SAW THE DIMPLES WITH MY OWN EYES), as were people shouting along with him to “Love.” At the end, he commented how we were all sharing the same air, and hearing him think the way (I know at least some of ) us think was so heartwarming.
Tumblr media
Also during some of the videos, there were some NOT AT ALL subtle Minjoon moments.
Kim Seokjin
The crowd last night ADORED Jin and gave him all the attention he deserves to have all the time. People were chanting his name SO LOUDLY during instrumental breaks in Epiphany. His voice was phenomenal, particularly the high notes. it’s clear how hard he’s worked to make it sound so effortless.  I noticed that people weren’t moving as much during some of his notes and I can only think it’s because we were literally transfixed. It’s well established, but I don’t think this man has any bad angles. Even in the still pictures I took while dancing, he DOESN’T look awkward in any of them. #impossible.
Tumblr media
Min Yoongi
Suga was clearly happy about something last night- he was SO cute and happy. Other ARMY on the train back to the city agreed with me. His rapping was fire (duh), but he was really smiley and took out his earpiece a number of times to hear us screaming. “Seesaw” starts with him laying on a couch and I can think of no better way to capture his true soul (lol). He was extra attentive to fans, and  I feel like what Tae mentioned in Burn the Stage, he was trying to memorize ARMY’s faces and live in the moment. I felt bad because there were clearly parts where he wanted us to sing along, but we couldn’t necessarily keep up with his tongue technology :P  But people definitely tried their best.
Tumblr media
Jung Hoseok
Idk what I can say here that’s new. J-Hope is one of the most charismatic members on the stage. And there’s something in the American air that turns him into Jay Hope. Seriously, he’s hard to move your eyes away from. “Just Dance” was the first solo track if I remember correctly and he did not disappoint. His glasses at the end were adorable, and one of the other members called him a “happy grandfather” or something like that.  Seriously, if you’re still sleeping on Hobi, we can’t be friends.
Tumblr media
Park Jimin
Jimin was ethereal as always, and the choreography for Serendipity was…..salacious, to say the least. Like if you thought the “Take Me Down” cover from last year’s Festa was too much, then idk what to tell you. Bring holy water or something. Despite  the free water that fans were providing to others (ARMY are seriously the best) there was a different kind of thirst occurring, if you smell what I’m stepping in. Jimin is pure charisma, like J-Hope. Obviously their styles are totally different, but when they move, you stop whatever you’re doing and watch. Again, I didn’t even see many ARMY bombs moving during Serendipity- I think we were too entranced. I personally thought that he killed his vocals and did great, but he seemed a little tired or like he was working hard at it. Jimin was also the one (at least that I saw from my angle) that got the closest to the fans, crouching down and leaning over the teleprompters/fans/lights/ whatever the black boxes were at the edge of the stage.
Tumblr media
Similar to Tae and Yoongi, I saw him looking at fans A LOT during the show. He was exactly how he seems in V Lives and cameras, and I’m fairly certain I would spontaneously combust if I ever ran into him irl (even if I didn’t know who he was)- he just radiates warmth and friendliness. Seriously, if I believed in magic, I feel like he would be able to influence people’s emotions.
Kim Taehyung
So many fic writers have this ultra primal (for lack of a better word?) for Tae, but all I see is a cute sweetheart. Obviously I’ve never seen someone create as much tension with their own arm as he does during Singularity, but when he’s not dancing, I just got a super innocent, cutesy vibe from him. His voice was so smooth last night. I mean, I knew, but now I KNOW.  He actually was shooting hearts at one fan (how lucky they are), and pretended to fall down when they shot him back! They were further back in P2 as well so he really does work hard at paying attention to everyone. He actually called over another member (maybe Yoongi or Jimin? I was too busy trying to remember how to breathe, to see whatever he was seeing).
Tumblr media
At the end he whipped a heart out of his beanie (how I pray to god someone got that moment on camera) a la Jin. He just seemed really comfortable in his own skin last night, and I was so grateful for it.
Jeon Jungkook
I had a hard time seeing most of his Euphoria performance as it was relatively early on and people were taking a shit ton of videos. He also stayed mostly on the main stage, rather than come out to the extension area near where I was. His abs are just as great in person, and the screams were (as is to be expected), absolutely deafening. They’ve talked about it in shows, but his voice is  SO stable. Obviously they stopped at times and don’t use too much backing vocals, but it sounded EXACTLY how it does on the album. He threw something into the crowd  (I think a banner) at the end, and it FLEW so far-back to P2 or further. They’re not kidding when they talk about how strong he is.
Tumblr media
Final thoughts
At first, I was a little exhausted after my emotional trauma of the prior day, and from standing for so long but the minute it started I forgot everything else. I was salty when I couldn’t see that much bc of people recording (esp when they asked us not to), but I understand the specialness of the moment and wanting to have some tangible evidence that you were there. By the time the concert was over, I realized how special GA was, even if it’s more difficult logistically (since I went solo and didn’t have parents or friends to stand in). I still don’t know if it’s hit me that I was like 10 feet away from them, max. It reaffirmed how important they are to me. I didn’t write this to brag, but to hopefully share my perspective and let others live vicariously through my experience. If you want clarification or anything else, write to me!

Days Like This
“When all the parts of the puzzle
start to look like they fit,
then I must remember
there'll be days like this.”
- Van Morrison
Tumblr media
Editor’s Note: I was asked for feedback on my season ticket holder experience by Mr. Brian Day, Director of Marketing & Ticket Operations, at Loyola.  In addition to filling out their standard survey, here is the text of my reply to his request.
Brian,
Thank you for your request for feedback on my experience as a season ticket holder for the men’s basketball season.  Every game that we attended was exciting and everyone that we brought along with us noted how much fun they had, without exception.  I would rank a Loyola game at Gentile Arena as the top sporting experience in the area when you consider the wonderful job put on by the staff and students along with the reasonable pricing of tickets, parking, concessions, etc.  It is a true affordable family fun experience where you walk out of the arena feeling good, even when the Ramblers come up short in the win column.
But reasonably priced entertainment is not the only reason I think it is valuable to be a season ticket holder.  As an alumni (BBA, ‘94), I know the values of the university run deep in the Chicago area.  Whether it be the doctors and nurses at the hospital, the students at the Lakeshore Campus, or the thousands of alumni out in the workforce, every one of us is trying to do our little bit to make this world just that much better.  Everyone who has been involved with the university as either a student or staff member has always known this, but it took last year’s Final Four run to share the secret with everyone else.  In a world that leaves many in doubt if there is any genuine good being done as the result of hard work and respect for others, here came along a team that showed us all that there are still lots of folks out there doing just that.
I think that is why so many people identified with that team last year.  It was incredible to many people that there were student-athletes out there who worked hard in the classroom and on the court without any of the trappings of bigger named stars at more “prestigious” institutions.  I honestly believe I would have felt exactly the same about last year’s team even if I hadn’t attended Loyola; however, the fact that I did made it all the more special.  During a year that was very tough for me (may dad, BS ‘68, passed away a year to the day before the Final Four game), these guys gave me hope that all is not lost.  Long after the season was over, I would think back to the countless good memories that came last March and it really did get me through some days that still weren’t so great.  I will be forever thankful for that experience and the sacrifice the team made to provide it.
But, your request wasn’t about last year, it was for this year, and in many ways my experience during the 2018-19 was even more special.  I put my season ticket deposit down on the morning before they won the 2018 Arch Madness tournament, so I suspect I was towards the front of the line when seat selection came up.  I chose seats that I sat in for a game last year (Sec 105, Row C, Seats 1-4) as they were almost right on the floor on the baseline and provided an incredible view of the action.  We were there for the banner raising on opening night and I personally was at twelve more games (I’ll asterisk that as it should be thirteen but my wife wouldn’t let me travel from Lombard in 20 below weather for the Northern Iowa game).  Every game was wonderful, and we met so many people that were alumni, parents of students, or just fans, some of whom I knew from my days on campus, and others who became new friends.  It got to the point that as much as I liked the basketball, I just felt good seeing these folks and a packed gym on that beautiful campus.  Game days became almost a pilgrimage, which I know is dramatic, but much needed during a winter that sometimes had little excitement otherwise.
What really made the difference was watching this team.  I could not be happier for Coach Moser and his staff and players, particularly Clayton and Marcus.  I watched every minute of every game this year and I never saw one where anyone quit no matter how tough things got.  I was also impressed with the character of this team.  They had tremendous expectations put on them at the beginning of the season (including by yours truly), but we all forgot that these young men didn’t owe us anything.  Nevertheless, they took our hopes on their shoulders and did everything they could to replicate their previous success.  While that took a lot of courage, and the effort put on was admirable, I could see it in their faces as the season wore on that the weight of our love was tough on them.  That is when I realized that what these guys were doing was even more special than last year.  I stopped worrying about conference standings and RPI and all that jazz that comes with bigger programs and just started appreciating what was in front of me.  I realized worrying about the future took away from an enormously special present.  The last few games of the year, while still intense, proved me right as the team put on performances that I will savor for a long time regardless of where things go from here.
That made yesterday’s conference championship clinching all the more sweet.  While it was fun as a fan, it was special to see Clayton and Marcus go out on such a wonderful high note.  The post-game celebration on the court was so well done and I stayed in the arena as long as I could to savor every moment.  It was just as special as anything that happened last season, and in some ways even more so knowing what it took for those guys to get to this point.  The smile on everyone’s faces (even Coach Moser’s!) made every anxious moment along the way worth it.  And I think that will be what I take away most from this season - the past is in the past and the future will come no matter what, but the present is up to you.  I tried to spend every minute of yesterday’s game and post-game party remembering that and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.
I know Coach Moser says they are not done, and I believe him.  This team is very good and has the potential for another big postseason run.  I’ll be in St. Louis routing the team on at their game on Friday and we’ll see what happens from there.  Still, I’ll be at that game knowing that no matter what, this season has been an incredible success and it was an honor being a very small part of it as a season ticket holder.  More importantly, I now know that the last two seasons have been a gift for a lifetime as it has reconnected me to the university in ways I would have never imagined.  As such, you can put me down right now for my renewal of season tickets for next year.  My goal for next year is perfect attendance in Sec 105, Row C, Seats 1-4, and look for me in my Loyola stocking cap, maroon and gold scarf, and early 90′s vintage jacket.  You can’t miss me, but if that’s not enough, then just look for the person with the biggest smile in the arena (maybe outside of LU Wolf).
Thanks and please pass along my congratulations to the team and coaching staff.
Sincerely yours,
Jim White, Class of 1994.

How I Won $10K By Tweeting
A little over a year ago, I noticed my friend on Facebook was posting a bunch of pictures of free items she had received in the mail from different companies. Some items were full size, and some were samples, but there were a lot of items that I either already used or wanted to try, so I contacted my friend and asked her how she was getting all of these FREE products. That's when she told me she was part of a Freebie Group on FB, that posted new FREE offers, great discounts and deals, and contests daily. I told her I would love to join the group (since it is a closed group, I could not see the group posts), and she added me to it.
At first, all I did was look through for all the free item posts, and I would use the links to complete the forms or questionnaires so that they would mail me my free products. And let me tell you, there were ALOT of them and I did get ALOT of free items over the next several months. Some were things I would have had to buy anyway like toothpaste, shampoo + conditioner, and some otc medications (mostly for allergies or sleeping aides). Some were items that I wouldn't have bought but was happy that I got free because we would use them like bluetooth speakers, multi tools, and even a customized whiskey glass (it has my initials etched on it). And these are just some of the things I was getting. I started getting new packages every day or every other day. I was posting photos of my "freebies" on my FB for awhile to not only show my friends what I got because I was so excited to have gotten it free, but also to let them know they could be getting all of these things free too. But then it got to the point where I had people wondering if my fb got hacked because it was nothing but pics of new products every day, and I had those negative skeptics who would contact me to tell me how careful I needed to be when getting these products because there was bound to be some sort of catch (and while I appreciated the concern, again I only started doing this after a yr or so of seeing a friend of mine do it, so I knew it was legit, or at least the group she belonged to was because if not, she would have known long before I ever even started it). But it got to the point where not only did I not want to have to keep explaining how I get everything really for free etc to the skeptics, but I also didn't want to annoy my friends with nothing but product posts which is kind of how it had gotten for awhile there, so I started only posting when I got really cool things like accessories, clothing, electronics, or stuff like that.
Then, I started noticing more and more contests that were being posted in the group and less free items (certain companies only do freebies at certain times of the year so sometimes there may not be anything available or nothing that you personally need or want) and so I started clicking on the contest links and entering the ones that I wanted to win.
Over the past year, I have won many items ranging in prices from $5-$150. I won Amazon gift cards, movie tickets, bags, clocks, gift cards to other stores, and more. But again, the most expensive thing I won was around $150 (it was a set of bags that I won from a Marlboro contest).
Besides entering contests that had prizes I liked or wanted, I would also enter contests that had prizes that I knew my husband would want or like. That is actually how I came to enter the one that I won $10k from.  It was a Kelloggs + Pringles contest that had 5 Grand Prizes of $10,000 for Sports Season Tickets. Now, I will admit that I am not the biggest sports fan in the world, unless it's football I usually don't care to watch it on tv, although even I must admit there is something to be said about sitting in the stands of a live game, but I don't do that very often either. My husband on the other hand is a sports fan, a football lover, and one of the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fans I have ever known. In fact, I probably don't know anyone who is a bigger fan of any team other than maybe my Mom with the San Antonio Spurs or my Uncle with the Dallas Cowboys (my Grandma was a huge Cowboys fan too).  But other than that, I do not know a more devoted fan than my husband. Birthdays, Christmases, whatever the occasion anyone who knows him knows you can not go wrong present wise as long as you get him something Chiefs related. I was even lucky enough one year to be able to take him to a Chiefs game for his birthday. We live in Texas so getting to one of their games isn't the easiest thing, but they were playing the Houston Texans the first year Reliant Stadium was open and I was able to get pretty reasonable seats at pretty reasonable prices. He was so happy, and it was such a great experience  (and a great game to be at if you were a Chiefs fan, they beat the Texans 45-17).  Unfortunately, we have not been able to make it to another game since (but he watches every Sun that they play, even if we have to find a Sports Bar that's airing it). So, when I saw the contest for the $10k for season tickets, I thought, oh he would love that. Plus, when I saw the contest it was in November and with his birthday and Christmas both in December I thought, man if I could win this before either of those,  it would be the ultimate present for him. To enter, all I had to do was post a tweet picking either team Saturday or Sunday, and tag Kelloggs and Pringles in it. So, I posted the tweet in late November and went on about my business.
Well, I didn't win before his birthday or Christmas and to be completely honest with you, I had forgotten all about it. I enter a lot of contests so it's really hard for me to keep track of all of them, and I just always assume if I win, I will be notified, and if I haven't heard anything in a couple months than more than likely, I didn't win. So, I really didn't even think about the contest again after I entered it.
Then, last week I was sitting on my back porch with my husband when I noticed that I had a Twitter notification in my email. I clicked on it and read the message, which was a notification that I had been tagged in the tweet shown above. I looked at it for a minute and then I handed my phone to my husband and said, "Read this". I wanted to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me or that I had in fact read it correctly.
My husband, being the skeptic that he is, initially thought it might be some sort of scam, and asked me where the notification came from. I told him from Twitter from a post Pringles made on Twitter. So, he got on Twitter himself, went to Pringles page, and sure enough there was the tweet. Now, he may have still been a little skeptical at this point, but he was starting to get a little more excited about it, as was I. I then contacted Pringles with the information that they had requested from me and waited to hear back from someone. The next day I received a phone call from a woman at Kelloggs, confirming that I was indeed a Grand Prize Winner and telling me they would be sending me paperwork to sign amd then once they receive it, I will be sent a check for $10,000!!! I sent the paperwork back yesterday and it was confirmed that it was received today and once it's processed, the check will be mailed!!!
I am so excited and still somewhat in shock. I have never won anything like this ever and I don't know anyone that has won a prize amount this big without spending something up front. I cannot begin to tell you how thankful I am, how blessed I feel, or how much this is going to help my family right now. What I can tell you, especially the skeptics, is that you can't win if you don't play. If you see a contest that is FREE to enter, whether you are skeptic or not, if you have the time, ENTER IT. You never know, you could be the next Grand Prize Winner!!
I would love to hear some happy stories from other winners, so if you've ever won a great prize, leave a comment letting me know what it was and how you won!

Blink (An AU Fosters family fic) Chapter 3
CHAPTER 3
“Jesus,” Mama whispers.  “What are you doing out here?  Are you okay?”
Groggily, Jesus blinks awake.  Slowly, last night comes back to him.  Losing it in the dark hallway.  Coming back holding Frankie.  Now, it’s just him and Mariana.  She sleeps close.  Her head pillowed on one of his arms.  He has almost no feeling in it, but he’d feel bad moving and waking her up.
“Yeah.  I’m okay.  We just fell asleep talking.”
He doesn’t know why he’s lying.  It doesn’t make sense, and it’s one of the grossest leftovers of living four years in super hell.  The lying had become like second nature by the end.  Sometimes, it’s still hard to tell if it’s because of that, or just a regular innocent lie people tell.  Jesus hates not knowing which it is.  If he’s horrible or okay as a person.  If he’s a person or a warm body.
“Go back to sleep,” Mama urges and he wants to laugh.  Because there’s no way.  Instead he slides his arm out from under Mariana’s head and covers her with a blanket before following Mama downstairs.
Jesus likes the quiet in the house before everybody else is up.  Winter break, with everybody home all the time, has been hard to get used to.
He’s dumping old coffee grounds out into the trash before it really dawns on him what he’s doing.  Not until he turns to go back to the coffee maker and Mama is standing there.
“I have this, bud.  Sit down, okay?”
She says it like it’s fine, but Jesus’s ears burn hot.  All this time and he still catches himself doing kitchen chores if he’s not careful.  It’s something he used to have to do Then, and if he does it here, it can mean big trouble for his trauma, especially if his fam lets it go unchecked.
“Sorry.”
“No need to apologize.  I love my poem, by the way,” she says, referencing the gift Jesus gave everybody in the family.  Haikus about each of them.
“Yeah?” he asks.
“Yes.”  She comes and sits down next to him.  “I like the words you chose to rhyme.  I remember that day like it was yesterday.”
“Me, too,” he nods.  He had only been home two months when he had sat down with Lena and talked about the book Where The Wild Things Are, while she held him.  It was the first time he could let her.  One of the first times he felt safe letting an adult touch him, after everything Then.
“I wanted to talk to you about something.”
Jesus swallows.  Tries not to jump to conclusions.  To think he’s in trouble.
She must see it on his face, though, because she says, “You’re not in trouble, bud, okay?  It’s a family thing.  Something we’d like to do together.”
“What?” he asks carefully.  He still can’t let his guard down totally.
“Well, Grandma Sharon gave us all plane tickets to spend a week in Grandpa Frank’s cabin.”
“Isn’t that in Wisconsin or something?” he makes a face.  Wisconsin’s way far away.  And cold.
“Minnesota,” she clarifies.
“Hmm…” Jesus muses.  “Would I come, too?”
“You’re a part of us, honey.  Yes, you’d come...unless it’s not something you feel comfortable doing.”
“Then what, though?  Grandma spent money on tickets we wouldn’t use?  That seems kinda rude.  I mean, if I didn’t wanna go, you guys could go without me.”
“No, we couldn’t.  We don’t leave family behind, love,” Lena said patiently.  “We’re waiting to tell everyone else until we had a chance to talk to you first.  To see how you feel.”
“Is there snow?” he asks hopefully.  He’s thinking of the picture of Isaac.  The last fun thing he did.  He really wanted to see snow.  That’s what his mom had said.  This way, maybe Jesus could see it, too, and it would kinda be like they were together, if they were both doing the same thing, even if it wasn’t at the same time.
“I’m sure there is, yes,” Mama smiles.
“Can we do stuff in it?” he asks.
“Sure, we can,” Mama nods.
“Can I bring stuff from home?” he checks.
“Of course.  We’ll pack everything we need before we go.  One of us will help you, okay, so you don’t have to worry about that.  We’ll bring clothes, toothbrushes, everything, okay?”
“Food?”
“Sure.  I think Mom and I are gonna sit down with the rest of the kids after breakfast to tell them.  Then you can decide who you’d like to help you pack.”
“Okay,” he nods.
Since cinnamon rolls are still baking in the oven, Jesus goes to his room and grabs some clothes and a quick shower.  He plays the cover of Wintersong that Brandon did on YouTube.  When he’s downstairs again, so is everyone else.  Frankie is covered in icing.  Everybody’s already eating.  Jesus hesitates.
“Morning, my sweet,” Mom says, pulling a chair out for Jesus.  “Sit down.  Have a cinnamon roll.”
Jude’s crabby and half asleep.  Mariana is looking rough from a night sleeping on the hardwood floor in the hallway.  Jesus feels a twinge of regret.  He sits down and picks at his cinnamon roll.
“I heared us all singing in the bathroom,” Frankie reports.
“You did?  How’d we sound?” Mama asks.
“Good.  ‘Specially you, Mama.  You sing the best of anyone.”
Jesus remembers Mari and Callie singing him some old Justin Bieber song last night.  (His sisters can seriously make anything sound cool.)
“Well, thank you so much,” Mama smiles.
After breakfast is eaten, Mom keeps everybody at the table an extra few minutes, telling them about the big surprise gift from Grandma (and Grandpa.)  Frankie goes nuts, talking about building an Olaf snowman, and asking everybody if they want to build a snowman.
“We’re going to vacation in the woods?” Mariana asks skeptically.  “In the winter?  In Minnesota?”
“You know, people usually go where it’s warm to vacation,” Callie points out.
“We live where it’s warm right now, genius,” Brandon puts in.
“Yes, we’re going to vacation in the woods.  Grandpa has a very nice cabin that he and Grandma are letting us use.”
“Jude?” Callie asks, nudging him.  “What do you think?”
“Bears…” he mumbles.
“Bears hibernate in the winter, Jude.  Don’t you know?” Frankie asks.
“We leave Sunday morning.  Early.  So we need to pack everything we’ll need over today and tomorrow.  Eight sets of clothes.  Pajamas.  Yes?”  Mom asks rhetorically.  She lowers her voice and asks, “Jesus, who would you like to help you pack?”
“Maybe Mariana?” he whispers.
“Mariana and Callie, come here, please,” Mom directs after dismissing everyone else to get going and clean the kitchen.
Mariana heaves a sigh.  “Mom, I know how to pack a bag…” she says, a little testily.
“I know you do.  And because you’re so skilled, I need to know if you’ll help Jesus pack, too.  And Callie, can you do the same for Frankie?”
“Yeah, of course,” Callie says and Mariana nods.
“Okay, I should call Dad and let him know we’ll be heading up there Sunday.  See if there’s anything we should know…”
On the way upstairs, Mari turns to him.  “So, what would you think if I just did this for you?  Is that okay?”
Jesus blinks.  “Is it okay for you?”
(They were four when they packed their first bags.  Back then, he did the packing for both of them.  Jesus is pretty sure she remembers.  Is pretty sure this is her way of returning the favor.)
“Totally.  I got you, remember?”
He nods.  “Yeah.  I remember.”
Deerwood, Minnesota
Two days after Christmas, Pearl is back at work.  For her, this means on her couch, knitting a maroon and yellow scarf for a dog.  (Go, Gophers.)  Her Etsy shop, Pawsitive Knitting, makes winter wear for pets.
“Gracie, come,” Pearl calls softly.  “I need to see how this looks on you.”
Gently, she maneuvers the scarf onto the dog, who sits patiently, tail swishing back and forth.
“Well, you’re just about the prettiest girl  I’ve ever seen,” Pearl says, scratching Gracie behind the ears.
Pearl’s phone rings with an old-fashioned jingle that her grandparents’ phone had.  Must be an unknown.  She picks up.  Glances at the screen.
Nope.  Not an unknown.  Frank Cooper.
“Hey, Frank.”
“Hey, Pearl.  How are you?  How was your Christmas?”
“Fine, and yours?” she asks.  (What does he want?  His first call to her is usually no earlier than May, inviting her over for dinner with any number of relatives or friends.  She never accepts.  She’s not a people person.  At least, not a people-in-large-groups person.)
“Nice, yeah, very nice.  Listen, I was wondering if you’d be around at all the coming week?”
When am I not around? she thinks testily.  Instead, she says, “I think so, why?  You need something?”
“Well, my family’s heading up to spend a week there.  Just wanted to give you a heads-up that they’d be around.  I know it’s usually kinda quiet.”
“How big is your family?” Pearl asks, holding out a hand.  Gracie comes and nips at it, calming Pearl’s nervous tremor.  (She can’t knit dog scarves with shaky hands.)
“My daughter, her wife, and I got five - no six - grandkids.”
“Wow, yeah, no, thank you for the heads up.  I appreciate it.”
“Just wanted you to know they’d be there, not me.  My daughter’s Stef.  You’ve met her before.  Her wife’s Lena. Kids are teenagers, except the little one.”
“Okay.”
“You all right?” Frank asks.
“Yeah, no, I’m fine.”  Eight strangers coming tomorrow to invade my solitary life?  Sounds like a blast…  “Thanks for the call, Frank.”
“You bet.”
“You bet…” Pearl breathes, hanging up the phone.  She tosses her knitting aside and holds her head in her hands.  She peeks at Gracie, who’s studying her closely.
“This is really gonna suck,” she tells the dog seriously.
Gracie comes and sits close by, resting her head in Pearl’s lap.  Pearl buries her face in the dog’s fur.

Auto Insurance Question: Please help!!!!!?
I asked this yesterday too, but did not get any responses; so if you have any information at all, or this has happened to you, please list an answer! I just recently lost my beautiful 1977 Monte Carlo to a fire! It was all original, and the adjuster found it to be worth between $12,000 and $13,000. Due to my ignorance of insurance, we were put into a stated value insurance policy worth $6,000, and now, I am only getting $6,000 for my car. I feel ripped off. I am young, and don't know anything about insurance, but trusted my agent. The car has been in my family and was gifted to me from my dad a little less than one year ago. My agent asked for photos, and a letter from my parents with what they thought the worth of the car was, signed saying it was a gift. So, that's what we gave him. They stated in the letter they paid $6000 for it 8 years ago. We were never told to get the car appraised, or that we had to keep up on checking to see if the value had gone up so we could change our policy. Do any of you have any advice on how I can get the insurance company to give me all the money? Is there anything I can do at all? Thank You so much!""

Also, is there anyway I can reduce it? I plan on making parents named drivers etc, will this help reduce?""

Diminished Value - Dealing with Car Insurance?
I was in an accident where someone side swiped me ($5.5k worth of damage). Their insurance company paid and I just got my car back (2007 Lexus IS 250 - 29k miles). I had just purchased the car 4 weeks prior to the accident from CarMax for $27k. Out of curiosity I went back to see what CarMax would give me and they offered $18k. The car is now only 7 weeks old in my name and 3 weeks of it was in the repair shop! Does anyone have experience with dealing with car insurance companies and diminished value? I live in NC and know that it is one of the states that has diminished value. I want to recoup as much of the difference as possible and since the car is so new (to me), I am willing to get rid of it to show the loss so I don't deal with this years from now. Any advice is appreciated.""

Buying insurance for an old car -- collision option - worth it?
I'm buying a 1995 car for about $3,000. The insurance company said it isn't worth buying collision insurance because the car is worth so little. They also said if in an accident, the repairs needed are more than the car is worth, they won't repair it. Instead, they'll pay book value. So, if my car got in an accident that would cost $4,000 to fix, which is more than the car is worth, would they pay for the car's value at $3,000 or for its value based on how much it's worth after the damage? So, if the car is worth $500 as is after an accident, is that how much I'd get? thanks""
Car Insurance and Driving Restrictions?

Help deciding which sporty car or convertible?
I want a convertible or sporty car and am on a budget of $20,000. so I've got a few options that I have been considering. New Mazda Miata-I have heard great things about Miatas, the one thing I'm worried about is it maybe feeling a bit underpowered, although I am coming from a 2008 Honda civic sedan. how do those compare? Used Porsche Boxster-this would solve the potential underpowered problem of the miata, however I have heard a mixed bag of responses regarding the reliability of these, and I know that any repairs that are needed will be absurdly expensive. Used Honda S2000-this car seems great, the things that worry me are possibly a lack of low end torque, and I have never driven a manual before, and the other options can be found as automatics. Volkswagen GTI or Golf TDI-these seem like excellent cars, but the one downside is the lack of convertible top-I really like that open road feeling Mini Cooper S-This is sporty and can be a convertible, but I've heard bad things regarding reliability and parts/maintenance costs, also the interior seems to be disliked by alot of people. other pertinent info- I live in the Sacramento area, so weather problems shouldn't be as significant. How do the insurance costs compare of these 3? I'm 18 but have a clean driving record, good grades, etc Does anyone know how the fuel economy of these cars compare from experience? I know the EPA estimates, but real world mileage is different, especially because I'm an enthusiastic driver (I only get about 26mpg in my civic) One of the main things I want to know is how these will drive compared to each other and my current civic. Anyone with experience with multiple of these cars? any help or advice would be appreciated!""

How does the car insurance process work?
So to start this stressful story I just purchased a new truck in Louisiana. My guy and I pulled out of the dealership lot and literally about a minute down the road we were hit by a girl in a car who says she didn't see us. Her car was damaged pretty bad but ours has a big dent and a scratch. It's still functional but now the passenger door won't open because of the location where her car contacted ours. So a police officer came and filed a crash report and gave us her information, but says that we have to wait til Friday to be able to get a copy of the crash report. We have full coverage insurance on our truck and our basic warranty. I'm going to call the insurance company to be sure but I was wondering what are the steps to filing a claim and getting my truck fixed. What exactly do I need to do to complete the whole process. I'm very into details so all serious and thorough answers are appreciated. Thanks""
Health insurance for your car?
I own an auto repair shop, and I had an idea that I would like you all to help me with. What if there was a program where you paid a monthly premium like health insurance. Then, When you needed an oil change, fluid flush, light bulb, new alternator, new tires new brakes, new engine, or needed to fix an oil leak, you wouldn't have to pay anything you would just go in to get it fixed. What are the chances of me 'winning' this car insurance claim ?
Yesterday i was leaving work , driving along a road , when a young girl ( 17/18 ) drove straight out of the car park on the left and hit my nsf wheel so hard it pushed my car 5ft across the road. She said she didn't even look to see if a car was coming. She has large scuff marks on the corner of her bumper, my car has a dented wing , wrecked wheel (which is no longer pointing straight ) . This girl is on her parents insurance. Her boyfriend was on his motorbike and said to me , he didn't believe she just did that , he saw it all. My insurance company says it seems straight forward - she was totally at fault, My car is not drive able. Husband ( mechanic ) seems to think i may need a new steering rack, wishbone maybe strutt , wing , alloy wheels ....they may write my car off as its value for insurance is 1200. Why are republicans fighting the health insurance mandate and not fighting the car insurance mandate?
If you have to buy car insurance and get penalized for driving without car insurance, whats the difference here? Its as much a privilege to drive as it is to receive healthcare. However no one thinks its an over reach of government to mandate car insurance. When you get in a car accident with an uninsured driver you have to pay for your own damage, so how different is it then when americans use the public healthcare system, the government has to use TAX DOLLARS to pay for their health care. Also why is it being categorized as a Government Takeover of Healthcare ? If I buy health insurance wouldnt it be more like a Privatization of Healthcare seeing that instead of having vast amounts of tax dollars going into the system, the health system would now be funded by the insurance companies by paying out claims.""

3 car crash.. I am the insurance companies hunt !!?
Hello .. I would like to listen to your opinios regarding this situation that has turned into a nightmare for me !!! I spent few months in Australia.. I have a full driving license.. I was driving on the M4.. I had 2 cars in front of me .. I was in the last car in the row ( third car ) .. the car in the front ( First car ) has braked suddenly .. The car in the middle ( second car ) hit it causing it much damage .. I could not stop at the right time and i hit the middle car afterwards .. Now .. The man in the middle car has lied to his insurance company and said that he stopped at the right time but when i hit him i made his car jump to the front and hit the front car .. I have now 2 insurance companies chasing me for money and treat me as a hunt because i had no third party property damage at the time of the accident .. My understanding was that the greenslip covers these things but actually they dont .. I have received bills from both companies.. 7000 AUD for the front car and 2000 for the middle car .. The details of repairs in the middle car ( that i hit on a very low speed) shows that damage at the rear of the car cost only 427 AUD and i offered them to pay it .. They refused and threatened me to go to court.. The police did not come at the place of the accident .. What do you think i should do?! How strong will be my situation at the court ?!

my car broke down so i took it off my insurance policy, i joined my brothers policy as Just a driver because in the state of ky every licensed driver has to be insured, not to mention my insurance is very high on my own policy. if i were to fix my car, would i have to put it on the policy as well? or can i just drive it? i only have liability so its not like my car is covered in the event of an accident anyway.""

When will my car insurance go down?
About 2 years ago, I was in one heck of an accident. Everyone in my car passed out, and the other car was basically fine, so police only went off their story. And they're not going to say it was their fault I assume. Police report says it was my fault, but i don't know. Stuck me in a coma for a while :P I had a severe traumatic brain injury too. So all in all, I don't drive because my mom doesn't want me to pay much for car insurance. I've heard different numbers, but the cheapest quote I've heard is $300 a month! I'm actually going on an LDS mission for two years, and won't be driving until it's done. So about March of 2016. Will my car insurance go down at all in that time? I will turn 21 in June of 2016 too

How should I insure my now deceased father's house?
My father has recently passed and his house is currently vacant. It is a small home only around 1,000 sq. ft. It hasn't been estimated recently but I would guess it's value around $60,000. Car insurance company sucks!?
our was mini-van was smashed at the back.. it took 4 days before the car insurance company rented us a car. then after 4 days, a came from the company took a look at our mini-van and told us it might be totaled. then after 2 days, the car insurance called and said they will pay for the totaled car $2,500!!! the cost to repair is $2,700. We just got that mini-van a month ago for $5,000. the market value of the mini-van is $4,100. I thought that car insurance company always pay more than the market value.. so my husband told them we are not going to accept the 2,500 and we want the car to be fixed but they have not called us back til now. I think its so unfair just to pay us 2,500 and we just got the car a month ago for 5000. anyone wants to react there? and what should we do?""
Weird health insurance situation?
My hubby had two claims from a sleep study clinic that were marked as Out of network by my insurance. As such, the insurance company cut me a check for the portion of the bill that they are required to pay (instead of paying the clinic directly). I had to cash them immediately or else the checks would be void. Normally, we get a bill from the clinic with our total bill (including what the insurance needed to pay) and we then pay what the insurance wrote us a check for in addition to our portion. Now, the clinic has decided to write off what was marked as out of network. So, I have the money and nowhere to pay it. Is it ethical/legal for me to just keep it? It feels really wrong...""

Which Health Insurance Benefits do I choose?
I am finally eligible for health benefits at work. My wife has recently decided to attend school, so therefore I will have to include her in my benefits. With so many to choose from, I wanted to find out options. To skip the PPO, since it's overpriced at my job, I will list several I am considering. First, we are both healthy couple, we are on our early 30s, and planning on having kids, so maternity has to include. My work offers AETNA California Small Business group plan. Here are the following I am considering.... 1. HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT (HSA) - Really considering due to the tax advantage, but you have to select a high deductible heath plan (HDHA). We have HSA $3000 deductible, HSA $2500, HSA $2000, and HSA $3300. 2. We also have HMO with co-pays ranging from $10 to $50 3. Aetna Value Network (AVN) HMO with copays $10 to $50 With so many selection, my head is starting to spin. So if someone can enlighten me the deductible they chose if you are planning to have kids and also saving tips on selecting the health benefits that would work for a couple. Considering with high prices on health insurance, I am luck enough to have a decent company that can provide fair prices.""
