28 + Geraskier!
Here you are Nonnie! Some Geraskier angst/ fluff for 28 - "I care about you."
Jaskier had always been there, taking care of Geralt. But who takes care of the caretaker?
“You alright?”
That did it. After being cast aside on a mountain, tortured, imprisoned, the whole Voleth Meir thing and everything in-between, it was those two words leaving Geralt’s mouth that caused Jaskier to break.
He wrapped his arms around his torso, hugging himself as he cried. Geralt stared like a startled deer before he sat next to him on the half rotted bed and hesitantly gathered the bard to his chest.
“Jaskier?”
“Sorry, sorry.” Jaskier pulled away slightly, attempting a smile which only looked more like a grimace as tears continued to fall, “No idea what that was. I’ll be fine in a second.”
“Jaskier.” Slightly more forceful this time
“I’m fine, Geralt. You don’t have to humour the human and pretend to care about my petty grievances. I don’t see any of you lot crying about it because you’ve had a bad day.”
A decades old memory stirred: A young Geralt, eavesdropping on Vesemir and an old Bear Witcher who had needed a place to stay for the winter. He couldn’t remember the details of the conversation but he remembers an unfamiliar, rumbling bartitone asking “And who takes care of the caretaker?”
Jaskier had always been there. Patching up Geralt’s wounds, making sure he was well fed and well rested (and well paid) after a hunt, knowing exactly how to pull him out of his own head when he started feeling a little too melancholy. Even after everything on the mountain, Jaskier had helped Geralt without a moments hesitation.
And Geralt had....
“Who takes care of the caretaker?”
He tightened his hold on the bard, “Not pretending Jask, if something’s upset you enough for...this, then I want to know.”
Jaskier gave a watery laugh, “Holy Hell, Ciri really has turned you into a dad hasn’t she? Mr. Witcher’s-don’t-talk-about-feelings.”
“You’re deflecting.”
He felt Jaskier slump against him, “It’s nothing. These few months have just been a bit much.”
It was testament to how much his bard had changed. When they first met, the "nothing” would have been Jaskier scuffing his new boots. Now it was being heavily involved in aiding Elven refugees, spending an entire night holding his own against a fire mage alone and then everything at the Keep with barely space to breath in-between. Geralt would have been impressed if he wasn’t so terrified on Jaskier’s behalf.
Jaskier gave an exaggerated sigh as he finished, “Phew! Sorry to suddenly dump all of that on you. It’s not like everyone else here hasn’t been through worse.”
Geralt felt himself tense at those words, which in turn caused Jaskier to tense.
“Uh, Geralt?”
“The fuck Jaskier. You’re acting as if all of that was a stroll through the fucking woods.”
Jaskier lowered his head, “I’m sorry.”
“No. That’s not what I-” Geralt sighed through his nose, “I’m doing this wrong. I’m trying to say I – that’s not nothing, Jaskier.”
Jaskier tilted his head in a slightly birdlike manner with a “Huh?”
“I’ve known experienced soldiers who have cracked under less than that. You shouldn’t have had to carry all that alone and I’m sorry you felt that you had to.”
Jaskier gave a slightly bitter laugh, “Shit shoveller, remember? I...I didn’t want to push you away again by adding to everything.”
“No, Jaskier. I pushed you away and I never should have fucking done that.” He gently took both of Jaskier’s now healed hands in his, “Please don’t keep stuff like this from me again. I care about you too much for you to suffer like that.”
“Good riddle that: How much is too much?” Jaskier asked, trying to sound lighter than he felt in an attempt to joke his way out of the awkward tension which was now building. He expected Geralt to give one of his usual grunts, maybe a three words quip if he was lucky.
What he wasn’t expecting was Geralt’s lips to land quickly and lightly on his. Jaskier would have been convinced he’d imagined it if it wasn’t for the fact that Geralt was still close enough that they were nose to nose.
“That a suitable answer to your riddle?” Geralt asked, gaze flitting between Jaskier’s mouth and eyes.
“Hmmm, close but not quite. You’re on the right track though.” Jaskier murmured before initiating the first of many longer, firmer kisses.

OK BUT, how about post mountain but like- IMMEDIATELY post mountain, as in Geralt just finished yelling at Jaskier and Yen turns around and is like, "oh so that's what you want, okay then! FREE BARD IT IS."
cue Jask confusedly transitioning to being Yen's personal bard and barker. there's so much to go there, yen slowly thawing towards Jask, Jask gowing a spine after the whole thing with Geralt!
or- Yen takes the bard in the divorce and they're both better for it.
it's free real estate prompt just tag me so i can read

So in your most recent chapter of Found At Last In Meeting Eyes you make it rather clear that it’s not expected for the true nature of Geralt/Jask/Eskel’s relationship to become truly common knowledge
But something that’s entertained me for awhile as a both funny and interesting possibility is if it were, indeed, to become common knowledge throughout the Wolflands, and if it were to become the Royal and noble fashion then to have three way relationships because of them. People of course have been imitating the most personal and bizarre aspects of their kings or queens for centuries (see the Barcelona accent, or the popularity of anal fistulas after the Sun King’s own complications with one), but I think Geralt finding out about how it’s now considered a mark of a particularly prosperous king to have a triumvirate relationship would have him running up the mountain for QUITE some time lol.
I would also love to see how the rest of the Witchers react to the idea of Geralt (of all people!) being imitated and emulated down to his oddest habits and most personal details. Perhaps a love of horses also becomes a signifier of a good head of state?
Okay you are entirely correct, that would be hilarious. Geralt just being like, "Why...why does everyone have two spouses?" and poor Jaskier laughing too hard to answer.
Geralt would definitely approve of a love of horses becoming a common signifier of a decent king, though.

Hi! Sorry to bother you but I'm currently looking for like 4 different fics, which are all geraskier:
- The first takes place after the mountain breakup and Jaskier encounters another Witcher, who I believe is Lambert?? Basically he becomes Lambert's new travel companion, even creating some new songs for him. He eventually takes Jaskier to the keep, which Geralt is at as well, and they just kind of try to make Geralt jealous, even going as far as to pretend they had sex in the room next to him. Yeah, he's hurt... but they work through it.
- the second I'm not sure when it takes place, but Jaskier had died. It's a non-human/creature Jaskier. He sprouts up in the middle of a field and basically begins wandering around. we follow him as he goes through this and begins to relearn everything he once knew. There's a scene where he (unintentionally) terrorizes a family at a camp, and as they flee, the father feels for Jask, despite him being well... a monstrous being.
- The third one is kind of a modern au. Since witchers get to live long, he and the rest of the gang (including Ciri, Yen, Regis, etc.) have just lived through everything until the 21st century. Jaskier, having been mortal, died a long time ago. But recently, his body had gone missing. Julian is a professor, I believe he's a uh History professor? Nonetheless, all i remember is that Roach is a van and they got hunted by vampires at some point. I think Geralt owns a villa at a town in which Yen is the mayor. Julian's parents do NOT like Geralt because he's a witcher.
- The last i believe is an established relationship fic. But basically, Jaksier is hit with a curse or something, but it's causing him to age backwards now. So of course this leads to him forgetting about Geralt. That's just kind of it, they're trying to enjoy the time they have left with each other and their memories. It ends when Jaskier turns 18 once again, the same age at which he met Geralt.
Anyway thank you sm and I'm very sorry about the incredibly long ask 😬 (you very much do not need to answer)
Hi Nonny,
I'm going to put this out there for my followers. None of those sound like any fics I've read (shockingly enough, because I've read a lot of fics) so I'm hoping someone else can ask. They sound very cool though. (Jaskier growing in a field? I want to know what that one is)
Also, I'm tagging in @wren-of-the-woods for the last one, because they love fics with curses, so maybe they can help with that one.

They decide to wed for real

Witcher jaskier
Do y’all watch the Witcher George on YouTube? You should. Go watch the school of the leshen video! I’ll wait.
School of the leshen Jaskier.
His dad, Alfred, is also a Witcher of the same school, he had jask before undergoing the mutations.
A 22 year old newly minted Witcher Alfred is out on a contract in lettenhove and runs into the woman he had a one night stand with, and surprise, he’s a father.
She gives a rather neglected 5 year old Julian to his father.
Panicking about his new status as a father, he takes his son back to the elder keep and raises Julian as a Witcher.
Julian has a surprising affinity for signs, Axii in particular, which he learned to incorporate into his voice. Earning him the nickname ‘siren in the wood’
{oc time} the Witcher Berek Ebonstone is roughy around Julian’s age and the two become quick friends. Even traveling together when they become full witchers
Jul gets sent to study at oxenfurt and bring new information back the the school, where he takes up his infamous persona of Jaskier the bard
Julian is out on a contract in Posada, having just completed it when he meets geralt.
Now Julian, ever the little shit, decides he wants to see what all the fuss over the white wolf is about.
Things play out as normal, albeit with jaskier always seems to have more coin when geralt comes back from a contract than when he left, there always seems to be one less contact too. He’s sure it’s nothing though.
It’s not until the infamous break up that things really change.
Jaskier seemingly drops off the face of the earth.
Berek and Julian are once again hunting together regularly, occasionally interacting with the other wolves but, blessedly, never running into geralt.
Julian knows his luck won’t hold, and he’ll have to face geralt eventually and tell him the truth. But he going to wait until he has no other choice.

Rec List 4: The Witcher
-  Worth More Than Your Songs by Chaos_Breeds
“Jask, you’re bleeding,” Geralt growled, his free hand starting to pat for injuries, and-
Jaskier relaxed a bit, slumping in relief. “Good morning to you too,” he greeted brightly, ignoring how raspy his voice was. “Damn witchers and their sense of smell. I’m fine, don’t worry, just my hands.”
The room froze.
———
In which Jaskier runs himself ragged, convinced he must prove his value.
Geralt and Yennefer will not stand for it.
Oneshot,  1,676 words
-  Defying the Odds by Chaos_Breeds
Geralt didn’t care to eavesdrop, really, even less than he wanted to hear another bawdy ballad. It was better to keep his eyes on his ale, stay out of trouble, and wait for Jaskier to be finished. “So how much longer do you think he’ll live?” asked the baron, drumming his fingers on the table. “Such clever songs. I hope we’ll hear another few years’ worth before he goes.”
Geralt immediately stilled, the performance fading into the background.
———
In which Geralt learns that traveling bards are one of the most dangerous professions for very good reason. He overhears some nobles betting on how long his bard would survive on the path, and Jaskier’s odds apparently aren’t good.
Geralt will be damned before that happens.

Jaskier needed no introduction to Geralt of Rivia, not when he knows who this Witcher is on sight. On the other hand, this is his opportunity to make a new and different name for himself, a guise within a disguise, and perhaps fame that'll hide the secrets that he keeps.
Oneshot, 1,361 words
-  why were you digging, what did you bury by ruffboi
"You'll be coming with me," his father said, rather abruptly and with no room for argument.
"I thought no one but the elders and the witch could know where the clearing is," Julian said slowly.
"This is your duty as my son and heir," his father snapped.
"Of course, father," Julian replied. "I'll be ready after supper." He wondered, a chill running down his spine, what this duty actually was.

-  I Have Heart-Fire and Singing to Give by inexplicifics
Jaskier is invited to come and sing at Oxenfurt - an honor he has never dreamed he would be granted so young. But leaving Kaer Morhen has its perils...and there are those who would very much like to get their hands on the Consort of the Warlord of the North.

-  Dandelion Wedding Crowns by sageclover61
Twenty years after conquering Kaedwen, Redania sought a treaty with the Warlord of the North, and offered with it an arranged marriage.
Geralt, the accidental warlord of the north, would very like human nobles to stop doing monstrous things, like marrying off their children. Needless to say, the marriage won’t last. Now if only he could figure out how to help Jaskier and his sisters, too.

Jaskier handed her the spare dagger and breathed easy when she took it without question. "Ciri, darling. We're going to get out of this dungeon together. You know how sometimes, humans call things monsters that aren't monsters at all? Rather just, things they don't understand?"
She looked at him with fierce determination in her eyes. "Yes, I do."

Fall
“One last contract Jask, we need the coin,” Jaskier muttered to himself as he walked beside Roach. Jaskier looks at Geralt’s unconscious form slung over the mare’s saddle and shakes his head. “For fucks sake what am I meant to do with you now? At least you have some sense about you Roach, I know you will get us to the keep but really it would be much easier if Geralt was conscious.”
It was late Fall and time to head to the keep for the long cold winter ahead. Geralt getting hurt and being out of commission for the trek up the mountain was not part of the plan.
He continues to chatter at the mare and berate the Witcher as he makes his way up the trail. It was going to be a long trip to Kaer Morhen with Geralt unable to lead them. He had made the trip a few times now, and Roach knew the way but it was not an easy journey under the best of circumstances and these were certainly not those.
If he kept talking though he could pretend that everything was alright, that Geralt was just being his usual silent broody self and he was riding Roach. Not that he was out cold and would be for who knows how long. He had taken a contract at the last town near the base of the blue mountains, it was unusual for any monster activity there with the number of Witcher’s that passed through, but a manticore had been spotted nearby and the people wanted it dealt with before Winter set in and no more Witcher’s would be there to deal with it until the Spring.
Geralt had been able to kill the beast but he had taken too many hits himself, along with a dose of venom in doing so. He was low on potions so Jaskier couldn’t just give him Swallow or Kiss to help speed up the healing process and he had nothing to counteract the venom.
read it on ao3 here
Jaskier had seen this happen before, or at least something similar. Geralt’s body had basically shut down to aid in healing and to let him work the venom out of system, without proper treatment or potions it could take some days for him to regain consciousness. In the meantime Jaskier would need to try to get them to Kaer Morhen. Vesemir would be able to help Geralt once they were there. He only hoped that they made it before the snow set in.
After several hours of trekking up the path Jaskier gave up talking to himself in favour of focusing on his surroundings. He knew that there were many things in these mountains that could kill a man, the path was dangerous on its own the further one travelled, without worrying about wolves or wargs or forktails.
If he was lucky he might come across Lambert or Eskel on the journey but he wasn’t holding his breath.
When it began to get dark Jaskier finally spotted the small cave the Witcher’s used as a place to stop the first night on the trail to the keep. Jaskier sighed in relief and led Roach over the cave. The bard removed the saddle bags and set up their bedrolls before heaving Geralt over his shoulder and laying him out on his bedroll. He got a small fire going near the mouth of the cave and then checked Geralt’s wounds. Satisfied that the deep gouges in his chest were not infected and the stitches were holding well he moved to the head wound that Jaskier had at first thought had killed his Witcher from the sheer amount of blood.
Again, the stitches along Geralt’s hairline looked good. He then checked the more minor wounds and once done, he set about removing Roach’s tack and scrounging up some food for himself.
With nothing left to do but sleep he lay beside Geralt and carefully lay his head on the Witcher’s shoulder. He fell asleep listening to the slow but steady breathing of his love.
Jaskier woke at dawn and after checking Geralt’s wounds once more and changing his bandages he saddled Roach and tried to wake Geralt enough to help get him back on the mare. He wasn’t confident it would work but finally he got enough of a response from Geralt that with Roach kneeling he was able to get him into the saddle again.
After breaking camp and packing away the last of their belongings they set out again for another long day.
If Jaskier could keep up the same pace he would be able to reach the next stop over point by nightfall and then tomorrow they would reach the Keep and Vesemir.
“You can do this Jaskier. He would be able to get you there no problem.”
Getting himself some dried fruit and nuts from the saddle bags he set off again, Roach following behind him.
The day passed in much the same way as the last. Jaskier spent some of his time chatting to Roach, he checked Geralt a few times, tucking his cloak in around him, and finally lapsed into silence. Geralt was slightly warmer than he should be, though Jaskier was confident it was just his body fighting off the venom and nothing to be too concerned about. It was getting colder as the day wore on and the cloud cover was getting heavier. It wasn’t unheard of for an early snowfall this far North, it may only be Fall but Jaskier was growing increasingly concerned at the prospect of snow.
His fears came true as it began to lightly snow as dusk approached. They hadn’t made it as far as he had hoped and they would be travelling to the stop over point in the dark at this rate, the path ahead made more treacherous as the snow covered the ground.
“Fuck,” he growled to himself. Feeling exhaustion deep within his bones he nevertheless began moving faster, Roach keeping pace beside him. Jaskier reached out and kept one hand on her bridle as the sky darkened, hoping between them they would be able to keep steady and not slip. He only hoped he would be able to find the cave as night fell.
As they approached where Jaskier was sure the cave should be he slowed down keeping an eye out for the opening to the Witcher’s cave. He knew there were others along the way but he wasn’t sure what they may harbour in their depths so he didn’t trust using them. Most creatures tend to steer clear of the cave’s along here that smelt of witchers, not to mention that there was always firewood and a spare blanket or two and as the temperature dropped Jaskier was sure they would need all the warmth they could get.
It was now full dark and Jaskier had lost count of how many times he had stumbled, only his grip on Roach keeping him from falling. His fur lined cloak was no longer enough to keep him warm and he was almost at breaking point. Finally he spotted the marker for the cave. Nothing obvious if you didn’t know what to look for, but Jaskier knew and he almost cried in relief at the sight.
Although small, the cave was tall enough that Roach could come inside as well and Jaskier led her in, repeating the same tasks as the night before, though the long day and cold temperatures had slowed him down making everything far more difficult that the previous evening.
Once Geralt was off Roach and covered under furs in his bedroll Jaskier build a small fire near the mouth of the cave, though with his fingers clumsy with cold it took far longer than it should have.
Once he had finished his tasks he sat in front of the fire, trying to get some warmth back into his fingers. Once the feeling had returned he dragged his own bedroll beside Geralts and covered them both in all their furs as well as the couple of musty blankets stowed in the back of the cave.
Despite his exhaustion, sleep did not come easily and Jaskier lay awake long into the night worried about how they would make it to the Keep the next day if the snow continued through the night.
When dawn came Jaskier had already risen and broken camp. The sooner they left, the sooner they would reach Kaer Morhen.
Geralt had roused enough to drink some water and eat a little jerky before he had passed out again. Jaskier reassured himself again and again that he was alright, his body just needed rest to heal. He had lost huge amounts of blood along with the fucking manticore venom, and if he was human he’d have bled out long before Jaskier could stitch his wounds.
Jaskier always liked to correct his lover when he said he wasn’t human, though in these circumstances Jaskier could not be more grateful for that fact.
As they made their way out of the cave Jaskier was dismayed to see the snow had continued through the night, the way before him covered in an ankle deep layer of snow.
He pulled a blanket free from their saddlebags and wrapped it around Geralt as best he could, before pulling his own cloak around himself with a shiver.
“Come on girl, soon you’ll be in a nice warm stable, we just need to get home. We can do this. We have to do this,” he began to make his way through the snow leading Roach along the path.
By mid morning the snow was falling in thick flurries around them and Jaskier could hardly see the path before his eyes. He was seriously worried that he may not be able to make it, and wouldn’t that be terrible to have made it so close only to fail in the last stretch.
Shivering, he leaned into Roach’s side for a moment trying to work out what to do. He was beginning to lose feeling in his fingers and toes and he knew that hypothermia would soon become a real concern. He had never been so grateful to be shivering as he knew that meant things were not yet so dire that he couldn’t push on. He briefly checked Geralt and found that the Witcher was cool but not too cold to be worried about. At least that was one thing to be thankful for.
Finally pulling away from the mare he set forth once more. He kept his head down and just focused on putting one foot in front of the other. After what felt like years but was in reality several hours, Jaskier became aware of the fact that he was no longer as cold. A part of him knew that there was something deeply wrong here as the snow was still falling and he was now walking in snow up to his knees. He couldn’t feel his toes, could hardly feel his legs for that matter.
He was so tired.
Maybe he should stop.
Roach nickered, nudging his cheek with her nose. Jaskier looked at the mare and remembered why he couldn’t stop. He needed to get Geralt home.
One foot in front of the other.
He kept going until he reached a wall. He wasn’t sure why there was a wall in the path, why would someone put a wall there?
But then the wall was moving and there was someone speaking with him.
“Eskel?” he asked, voice cracking.
“Jaskier come on, we need to get you inside. What the fuck happened?”
“Geralt, he needs help. Manticore venom, no potions,” Jaskier ground out, he felt like he was going to fall but he needed to tell Eskel, Geralt needed help.
There was muffled shouting nearby and then a flurry of motion as someone lifted Geralt down from Roach’s back and someone else led Roach to the stable. Jaskier was dimly aware of Eskel wrapping his own cloak around him and leading him towards the keep but before he could make it inside Jaskier lost the battle with keeping himself on his feet, numb legs giving out beneath him.
Eskel managed to catch Jaskier around the waist and lifted him into his arms, the bard turning his head into his warmth and going limp in his arms.
***
When Jaskier is next aware of his surroundings he is warm, almost painfully so and his toes and fingers burn causing him to moan.
“Jaskier?” Eskel asks, leaning over the bard.
“Eskel? What happened? Is Geralt alright?”
Eskel helps him to sit up and wraps a blanket around his shoulders. Jaskier looks around the room relieved to see the familiar walls of the room he and Geralt share in the keep.
“Hey Jaskier, Geralt’s fine, or he will be soon. Vesemir had checked him over and given him an antivenom and a dose of Swallow. How are you feeling?”
Jaskier took a moment to feel relieved that Geralt would be ok before thinking about answering Eskel.
“Ah tired I guess and rather sore. But I’m alright, at least I think so.”
Eskel nodded as though that was the answer he expected.
“You’ll feel some pain as you warm up, much longer out there and you would have been lucky if you hadn’t lost your fingers and toes, or your life for that matter. You’ve been out for a few hours. Next year maybe try for a slightly less dramatic entrance, hmm?”
Jaskier smiled and nodded. “Of course dear Eskel. When Geralt’s feeling better I’ll be sure to tell him no contracts at the bottom of the fucking mountain again shall I?”
“You and me both,” Eskel agreed. “Now you should get some more rest but before you do, are you hungry?”
“A little, something warm would be wonderful.”
“Alright I’ll be back shortly.” Eskel stood up from the chair beside Jaskier’s bed and headed out the door to get some food.
Jaskier lay back down while he waited, he wanted nothing more than to go to Geralt but he knew he’d never make it in this state. He would eat, sleep some more and then go to his Witcher.
Jaskier wasn’t aware he had dozed off until Eskel woke him with a gentle shake of his shoulder.
“Oh sorry Eskel, didn’t mean to fall asleep,” he said, yawning into his hand.
“It’s fine Jaskier. Here eat up while it’s warm.” Eskel passed over a bowl of warm stew and sat down beside the bed again, staying nearby until Jaskier finished before taking the bowl and standing again.
“Call out if you need anything.”
“Thank you,” Jaskier replied, already half asleep once more.
***
The next time Jaskier woke he was hot.
While it was preferable to being cold he couldn’t quite understand why he was so warm.
When he finally blinked his eyes open he saw the source of the heat and decided he didn’t mind being a little over warm after all.
Geralt had obviously woken while Jaskier slept and joined him in their bed. With the fire banked high and the extra blankets plus a Witcher in the bed it was no wonder Jaskier was so warm.
He managed to push some of the blankets away, still feeling warm but no longer uncomfortably so, he settled back on the pillow beside Geralt. He softly stroked a finger along Geralt’s jaw, the stubble making his sensitive fingers almost sting, not that it would stop him from touching though. After a few moments had passed he went to pull away only to have Geralt’s hand reach up and capture his, pressing Jaskier’s palm against Geralt’s cheek.
“Hm stay,” Geralt rasped, his voice rumbling deep in his chest.
“Not going anywhere love,” Jaskier whispered, turning his head and pressing it up against Geralt’s neck. “We made it and I’m not going anywhere.”
Geralt finally released Jaskier’s hand only to turn onto his side and wrap the bard in his arms.
They were both safe and warm and had the whole Winter to spend together.
Jaskier was on the verge of falling asleep again before he forced himself to speak once more.
“Before I forget Geralt, no more fucking contracts at the bottom of the path. I’m not sure Roach and I will be there to rescue again if we have a repeat of this year.”
Geralt just snorted and shook his head. “Deal. Next time we’ll send Lambert back down the mountain.”
Jaskier laughed and pushed himself up enough to lean in and kiss his Witcher before replying. “Good, though I won’t be the one to tell him that. I like my body parts exactly where they are.”
Geralt just hummed and pulled Jaskier back against his chest, breaths evening out as he fell asleep again.
Jaskier fought the pull of sleep a little longer just to revel in the feel of Geralt against him. Despite what he had said he hoped he would always be there if Geralt needed him. Just as Geralt was there for him.

It's been two years since you posted the Birdsong series, and I think I've read it through 9 times since because I love it so much. Your writing is so lovely, and it reads so smoothly that I get captivated so easily. It's what I come back to when I get fandom fatigue, and every time, it's like a perfect embrace from an old friend.
My last read through I actually read the series description and saw you were thinking about what it would be like if Jaskier found a viper instead of the cats and I thought it would be an insanely different story.
I was just wondering if you ever thought more about it? Please don't think this is me getting on your case, I just remembered it and wanted to ask, sorry!
Hi, oh my goodness, you're so sweet! I'm glad you liked the series so much, I had a blast working on it and the response has blown me out of the water 😅💕
And no worries, I don't feel like you're getting on my case, but to answer your question in short: sorta?? 😂
The viper fic has like 4k words right now, but most of that is outline that hasn't been sorted into sense yet. So I can't make any promise on an end date if there will be one, but I did sort out Jask meeting Letho if you want a peek at the rough version of it:
A bard singing in the woods is nothing much worth paying attention to; he’s done it for years without interruption. So, he makes up a song on the fly—a very thinly veiled warning about conniving nobles and the traps they set for hissing creatures. It’s the best he can do.
Apparently, his best is good enough this time, because when he turns around to head back to his room for the night, he nearly smashes his nose into a witcher’s chest.
Barely managing to stifle the startled shout that starts to leap out of his throat, Jaskier finds his mouth hanging open as he cranes his neck back to look up, and up, and up into the slit amber shining down at him out of the face of a truly massive witcher. “Gods alive—”
“You’re not that lucky, kid,” the man replies like the base of a mountain decided to speak from his throat. “Take it you weren’t singing that for the gods, though.”
Jaskier continues gaping rather unattractively for a moment before he gets his mouth to cooperate with him. “I—Well, no, not unless you think particularly highly of yourself,” he replies, clutching his lute like it’d do him a damn bit of good in a fight. Besides the two swords on the witcher’s back, he’s got two truly intimidatingly large daggers on his torso, not even counting the ones Jaskier probably can’t see. “Hasn’t been my experience with witchers, but I’ve never met you…” he leaves the end of the sentence hanging hopefully.
The witcher’s expression is hard to catch in the shadowed moonlight, but he doesn’t appear to be interested in responding to Jaskier’s prompting. “You’re that bard.”
“Guilty as charged,” Jaskier replies with a slight bow, “unless I’m actually being charged with something, in which case, I’m an entirely different bard and I have no idea what you mean.”

For a chubby!Jaskier prompt, how about Jask being kinda on the skinny side after he and Geralt reunite after Geralt apologizes for the mountain incident. Maybe Geralt takes it upon himself to shove meals at Jaskier and get some meat on his bones and they accidentally both learn that they quite enjoy the act of Geralt feeding Jaskier? Jaskier winds up quite round and spoiled as he should be <3
You know I've always headcanoned that Geralt's love language is acts of service, so let's take it to the next level! ❤️
Warnings: light feederism, weight gain, body image
**
The stew smelled absolutely delicious. Jaskier's stomach rumbled impatiently when the scent reached his nose.
He had to admit that he missed Geralt's cooking quite a bit.
"You need to eat it all," Geralt warned him gently as he placed the bowl in his hands. "We need to put some meat back on your bones."
"Alright, don't worry, Mr. Mother Hen," Jaskier chuckled. "I won't wither away."
"I hope so," Geralt sighed with obvious guilt in his eyes. Jaskier cupped his cheek and leaned in to kiss him on the forehead.
Geralt had profusely apologized for everything he'd said after the dragon hunt, and Jaskier had forgiven him a long time ago - yet, it seemed like Geralt still couldn't get over his past mistake, and felt like he needed to do some more groveling. After they'd reunited a couple months prior, Geralt had taken it upon himself to shower Jaskier in the most delicious meals and treats, as his bard had been all skin and bones when he'd found him.
"I'll even have seconds, how about that?" Jaskier promised. He smiled when he saw that happy glint in Geralt's eyes.
As expected, Geralt's stew was simply heavenly. Jaskier couldn't help but let out an appreciative moan at the taste.
There was a proud, almost smug grin on Geralt's face as he watched Jaskier shoveling his food in.
*
As Geralt's love language has turned into "feeding my partner to show him how much I care about him", Jaskier's waistline soon started expanding.
If he didn't immediately reach for seconds, Geralt would quickly swoop in and pile his plate again for him. He also went out of his way to get Jaskier's favorite desserts, and he never allowed Jaskier to skip a meal. Even when Jaskier's mind was too occupied with song writing to actually remember he needed to eat, Geralt would show up to place a pastry in his hand.
The original plan was to put some meat back on his bones, but it turned into much more meat. A couple years ago Jaskier would have freaked out over his weight gain, but now, older and more sure about himself, he found the newfound softness appealing. He did need to go up a size in clothing, but oh, well.
In fact, Jaskier has found Geralt's constant doting quite enjoyable. There was just something insanely heartwarming about the fact that Geralt wanted to keep him soft and warm and happy, and if that meant Jaskier's stomach rounded out into a little pot-belly, then so be it.
Clearly, Jaskier wasn't the only one who liked the changes in his body and his general lifestyle, as Geralt practically couldn't keep his hands off him now.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered to Jaskier in awe, his voice full of genuine love. He reached out to caress Jaskier's chubby cheek, making him blush and smile. "I love seeing you like this."
"Fat?" Jaskier teased, giving his belly a playful jiggle. He didn't miss the flush on Geralt's cheek.
"Well-fed. Comfortable," Geralt explained as he reached out, laying a hand on Jaskier's belly, "spoiled. The way you deserve to be."
"I've been spoiled plenty, indeed," Jaskier noted, looking down on his body. His belly spread comfortably on his lap, warming his thicker thighs. He's gained some adorable rolls on his waist, which Geralt enjoyed grabbing a lot. He's looked much healthier than months before: he was soft and pleasantly rotund, and the rosiness has returned to his cheeks.
"I like it, too. I like what I see when I look in the mirror. And," he looked down at where Geralt was idly rubbing his belly, "I like it that you like it, too."
"Does that mean you'll accept this?" Geralt grinned, pulling a bag out from behind his back. Jaskier laughed, fondly shaking his head.
"You know I can't resist cinnamon pastries. Or you, for that matter."
He obediently opened his mouth, letting Geralt feed him the sweet dessert. His eyes fluttered shut in bliss as the incredible taste exploded on his tongue, and as Geralt's hand started kneading at his belly.
After the bag was empty, Geralt lay behind Jaskier, spooning him on the bed. He gently massaged Jaskier's full belly, purring against the back of his neck.
Jaskier smiled, stretching out with a content little sigh. He couldn't have been happier: he was laying in the arms of his lover who took care of him so well, and he got to eat the most delicious meals without ever having to feel guilty.
What else would he need?

WIP Wednesday Tuesday
Post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names. Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We're posting progress here. If you haven't made any, go make some and come back to post. After you've posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file.
Thanks for tagging me @crushcandles @flowercrown-bard <33
My file names:
letter
fallen ribbons
beneath the winter snow
words can wait (until some other day)
ashes, ashes, dust to dust
Snippet:
“I’ve been trying to write a letter.” Geralt takes a deep breath. Suddenly he finds himself too interested in the inkpot, the feather of his quill bent under his fingers. “To Yen, of course. As you know, we parted ways long ago, and we wanted to stay friends. But, Jask, you see, it doesn’t work. I cannot just stay friends with her. It’s too…”
Geralt searches for the word, but Jaskier finds it for him.
“Painful?”
Geralt nods.
“I don’t know if I ever could. Just being friends.”
“I know.” Jaskier says, his smile fading. “You were together. They say it’s impossible to be friends, after. Well, except for—um, well.”
“Except for us.”
They don’t talk about that year, the spring where Jaskier greeted Geralt at the foot of the Blue Mountains with a kiss, the summer of blissful joy and softness. They were together, and they were happy.
For a time.
Now, they are friends. It’s better this way.
Also my knitting WIP:
(because I want to show it off and I can ;)

GUESS WHO TORE OUT HER OWN DAMN HEART imagining that on the mountain episode Jaskier just... wasn’t there.
He didn’t even want to come to begin with so when Geralt decides to go just for Yen, jaskier for the first time in his life puts himself first and is like “Yeah, maybe I’ll just wait for you here. Coin to be made, feet to not blister, avoiding the first row on the shitshow you two are.”
I’m torn on how would Geralt react by the time he’s done brooding because i’m 100% what he said to jask was something he would have never said if it had been any other time, a heat of the moment kind of thing.
maybe he would try to avoid jask, tell himself he’s better off without him? sure...
But like, after what happened, after days on the mountain, thinking about what Yen and the dragon said, get to the inn and see Jaskier still there, untouched by all this shit, something he didn’t lose despite everything... I think it would be a relief.
it's free real estate prompt just tag me so i can read

Random thought: mostly ignoring show canon again, let's imagine that after the mountain, Jaskier was captured and tortured by a morally dubious witcher working for Nilfgaard instead of Rience and let's say he was held captive for several days/weeks. The torture would probably mostly consist of stuff like cracked/broken ribs, dislocated shoulders/knees, a few broken fingers and strangulation. Like, the witcher would grab Jaskier's throat and choke him and with his enhances senses, he could pinpoint exactly the moment where Jaskier is terrified out of his mind and sure that this time he's going to pass out and die, because there's no way he can survive without oxygen any longer, and then the witcher would let him go, give him a little break and start all over again. Maybe he'd use knifes to make Jaskier suffer sometimes.
Yennefer didn't lose her chaos completely after Sodden, it's just very weak and taking a looong time to recover. She probably kind of randomly finds out about Jaskier's capture and managed to break him out. She'd help along with the healing of some more serious wounds (like the broken fingers, so Jaskier could play again, because I hate the idea of Jaskier without his music), but she wouldn't have the energy to heal everything (because I crave bard whump). While running away from Nilfgaard, they'd bump into Geralt and Ciri and all four of them'd decide to go to Kaer Morhen. Jaskier'd be mostly okay with Geralt, just flinching at unexpected movements (and Geralt being hurt and confused, because Jaskier was never afraid of him; of course Jaskier never shares the details of his torture (and forbids Yenn from saying anything), so Geralt has no idea what's going on and is reluctant to push since their relationship is still pretty fragile).
However, once they arrive at Kaer Morhen, it's absolutely horrible, because there are lots of unfamiliar witchers and while Jaskiee rationally knows they are not going to hurt him, his traumatised brain sees witchers as danger. So, imagine all the potential angst of Jaskier being super frustrated that he's now afraid of witchers (probably featuring some panic attacks and nightmarss) after being tortured by one and all the witchers being uncomfortable, because he's afraid of them. Bonus point for this featuring lots of Jask+Yenn friendship and Gerslt being absolutely furious once he sees the bruises from the strangulations.

Okay, hi! I'm the anon that had been looking for the four fics! I did end up finding the fic that includes the MCD and I just want to quickly inform everyone that Jaskier is basically a zombie in this one!
If anyone was hoping to read it, it's called 'all that was good, all that was fair (all that was me is gone)' by xdandelionxbloomx + if anyone wants any more of undead Jaskier, I'd also recommend 'Kill Me Slowly' by safiraneo
Thank you to everyone who has been helping in finding the fics!
(Also the fourth fic was definitely 'ask me tomorrow', thank you so much :D)
Hi Nonny!
Ok, so in summary here are the fics you asked for and what we found:
- The first takes place after the mountain breakup and Jaskier encounters another Witcher, who I believe is Lambert?? Basically he becomes Lambert's new travel companion, even creating some new songs for him. He eventually takes Jaskier to the keep, which Geralt is at as well, and they just kind of try to make Geralt jealous, even going as far as to pretend they had sex in the room next to him. Yeah, he's hurt... but they work through it.
Ok, this one is Let Someone Love You by @contemplativepancakes thanks @stinastar for the tag
We have more recommendations of similar premises from the comments: (thanks @tiikafiredancer and @ambitiousstripper)
The Path not Taken by Sospes on ao3
strings of fate binding us together by winterbitch (WinterLadyy) on ao3
witcher of convenience by operacricket on ao3
Blue Skies Are Coming (Being Rewritten) by cloudspeck on ao3
- the second I'm not sure when it takes place, but Jaskier had died. It's a non-human/creature Jaskier. He sprouts up in the middle of a field and basically begins wandering around. we follow him as he goes through this and begins to relearn everything he once knew. There's a scene where he (unintentionally) terrorizes a family at a camp, and as they flee, the father feels for Jask, despite him being well... a monstrous being.
So this one is:
all that was good, all that was fair (all that was me is gone) by @xdandelionxbloomx
(thanks to everyone who found this one for me, I can't wait to read it)
(here is the link for the other one you recommend, 'Kill Me Slowly' by safiraneo)
This is the only one we don't have! Anyone with a lead on this one, let us know.
Ok, you said this was ask me tomorrow by @theaceace
A fic with a similar premise highly recommended by @ambitiousstripper and @anie6142 is Time Again by didoandis on ao3 (can't find their tumblr, if anyone knows, let me know)
Ok, that's what we have so far! Hopefully we find the third one at some point.
Thanks for dropping in nonny, and a shout out to the amazing fic writers of the witcher universe xoxoxo

For as long as any of them have known him, Geralt has worn a small silver ring that holds a green rock no smaller than a that the width of the band. None of them, Yen, Ciri or Jask, ask him about it as it seems rather unnecessary. He never brings attention to it and his necklace has always been more interesting. It’s not until they are captured by a group of men set on revolting against some king and they strip Geralt of the ring that any of them really take not of it. At first they assume it’s his necklace or possibly his sword being taken that causes him to slaughter all of the men. Even Ciri’s pleading to slow down or to question him go ignored. It’s when they enter a room, blood soaking Geralt’s body, that he rushes over and throws around their things until he finds the ring. They watch a relief wash over him as he holds it in a fist before shakily putting it back on. He continues like nothing happened and the others follow until they set up camp, where none of them have to ask as he explains before they can pester him.
“We were taught to be nothing more than wolves, but I didn’t listen. I held onto my past by hiding this ring for years, only wearing it outside the mountain. It was my mothers. I don’t know anything about her nor do I care to find out, I keep this as a reminder… a reminder that no matter how strong I am, I’m still human. Still weak.”

not sure if spoilers so don't worry if you can't say, but since ASOSH is post mountain and jask just was like... waiting? for geralt? My understanding of the situation is that jask heard geralt was around and was waiting for him to come over? the fact he overstayed and missed the bbardic competition throws me off... before finding that geralt has amnesia what was jasks plan? Pretend nothing had happened, he was just gonna let geralt do that?
Mm, not quite -- which you could not have known, because Geralt didn't know about the breakup until the most recent chapter. 😅
It does get discussed in slightly more detail in the final chapter, but basically: they had their mountain breakup in the spring of the previous year, Geralt tracked him down again a few months later and they resumed traveling together, then had a few months of being nominally back-to-normal before they split for the winter.
(That's part of what Jaskier was alluding to when he said, You always come back to me in the end.)
Their relationship continued to be slightly strained after the mountain, but they had reconciled, and made arrangements to meet up in Merida in the spring and then proceed to the festival in Leyda, so Jaskier hadn't been wholly delusional in expecting to meet Geralt there.
(Though yeah, when it had been three weeks and Geralt still hadn't shown, Jaskier would have been starting to wonder if it was wishful thinking after all, to believe that Geralt actually cared about rebuilding that friendship. ;_;)
