I love all kinds of comments, from keyboard smashes to protracted screams to strings of emojis, but I have a special place in my heart for comments that point to particular moments in the fic and describe the things they found striking or moving or thought-provoking about them. I often spend a very long time fiddling with fics on the sentence level and crafting particular images, and it means a lot to hear when that has caught someone's eye. 💞 What's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

I think the most important part of a story for me is the discovery: a fic works when writing it allows me to learn something new (about the characters, about the craft of writing, about the nature of a particular experience, etc.). Sometimes that happens while writing an exchange of dialogue that reveals something about a character's motivation or interiority. Sometimes it happens when I experiment with a simile that makes a connection visible that I hadn't noticed before. But generally I write until I find it (that thing I didn't know I was looking for), and then that helps me figure out how to arrange the other pieces. 🎙️ Which one of your fics would you like someone to make a pod-fic of?

I have never had a podfic, and I would be delighted to have one for any of my fics, but I think the Sambucky fic Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice (a.k.a. the Belligerent Coffeeshop AU) would be a particularly fun one. I tried some different things with focalization in that story, so there are more variations in voice (and jokes!) than some of my other work. 💌 Share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!

Oh god. So I have been working on the Codywan Pirate AU for such a long, long time at this point, but I'm getting into some of the climactic moments now, and I'm excited (and nervous) for a surprise spicy scene that I didn't know was going to happen when I started writing.

I don’t actually think I celebrate after posting at all??? Honestly, a lot of times after I post an update I just keep writing? Maybe I read my update again and see if there’s any typos I missed? I think the most I do is I go tell my husband there’s a new update to the Children of Kephallonia (my only fic he’s currently reading) and bother him until he reads it and gives me my promised in depth feedback/seratonin juice.

🎙️which one of your fics would you like someone to make a pod-fic of?

I’m going to go with There is No Escape… because I was imagining the Hades music playing over certain scenes when I was writing. And I think it would be fun to like have boss music playing and then have it like abruptly cut short when Kassandra kicks Theseus’ ass 😂

🧿 what steps do you take to not take things personally if a fic doesn't do well, or if your writing/posting/sharing experience isn't going how you'd like it to?

good question! i literally just try to forget about it. i’ve gotten better at not taking low engagement personally. mostly, because i try to see my writing as something i do out of love. i’m very much a pretentious loser in the sense that i don’t like seeing art as “content” and i think the increasingly consumerist attitude people are employing towards fandom works (fics, art, etc) are contributing to everything negative we have now in fandom. ofc i love getting comments and kudos and knowing that people like something that i’ve written, but getting into the numbers game of “this person wrote this fic and got 200 kudos while i only got 50” is excruciating and sows discord where there shouldn’t be. i have stories where i have 2k kudos and i have stories where i have 50 kudos. i try to see it as all the same thing.

💫 what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

[i answered this one but here!] not to be predictable, but i love comments that make observations on specific things that happen in the chapter/story. i think it’s so fun to see what people think about certain themes/characters/scenes, and i love reading analysis in general. i find it really rewarding when i get comments like that.

🎙️which one of your fics would you like someone to make a pod-fic of?

GREAT QUESTION!!! it’s between you are the knife i turn inside myself and to see the face of god. they’re both very long, but i consider them two of my best works and they have a lot of dialogue. i think it would work.

💘 Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?

i’m very hard on myself so i go back and re-edit/rewrite scenes pretty frequently 😭 but it’s probably death’s the lover. i think it has a great start with a good first chapter but i’m not in love with where it goes around chapter four. id probably rewrite that, somehow. maybe expand the plot.

🎙️ do you have any plans involving silver's possible BPD? Any specific hcs you've been wanting to drop?

//OOC: Not specifically? Just more so “Yeah, given how I interpret this character and research on mental health for many reasons, this seems like a sound headcanon to have.”

I always make sure for my mental health writing that it’s always more scarier for the individual than other people. I do the same thing on @resonatingradiance, my horror pkmnirl blog as that character has DID, and yes that’s part of the psychological horror, but I didn’t want to spread the stigma of mental health conditions because they’re already so stigmatized. Just as a mentally ill person writing. I’m not like. Neurotypical and doing such. Mental health can be scary, it is scary, it’s just how you have to be very careful in writing it if it’s scary or not.

I do a lot of research on these topics and I’m not perfect or a doctor I just have a wack brain and if other people wanted to offer their two cents, I wouldn’t be opposed. I like constructive criticism when writing mental health things. I do not have BPD, only autism and suspecting other comorbid things like EDS and DID myself. (Though… EDS is not mental, it’s physical, you catch my drift it’s comorbid.) It’s possible I could myself but the best source I find for writing these topics humanly is, well, myself, as a mentally ill person. But if I do not have a condition I cannot accurately portray what it’s like as a whole human being to have it as it’s hard for me to quite literally put myself in another person’s shoes despite I believe I have a strong weight in writing emotions of a wide range of characters.

TLDR: Feel free to criticize how I write these topics I love feedback. I don’t have many plans on it besides “Yeah, he sure exists with it” while doing my best research, but I’m only human so if I make a mistake, feel free to tell me!

well i only have 5 fics posted but probably this one because it’s my longest fic but i didn’t really expect a lot of recognition anyway because it’s a rare pair from a show that not many ppl like. it's not the best writing but worked hard on it and i’m proud of it and that’s really all i can ask for.

i really love when ppl point out sentences/situations and other things they like.

mmm okay i know i posted a wip game last week but i only did half so i'll drop the other half here (this is a treat specifically for you jaque).

cuddle monster liam: liam is a leech and he clings to theo when they sleep. theo's a little confused but accepts it anyway. i have this scene i want to write and it's one of the first times liam cuccled with him and it the basic part of it is liam just nudges his head under theos arm like a puppy and nuzzles his face into theo's chest bc he's cold.

look you: this is more of a concept than anything but basically theo and liam have thing thing where they say "look, you" or some kind of variation of that when the other is being a little shit or self depreciating.

tfw you do a 30 day relationship challenge when ur not even in a relationship: so corey and mason do a 30 day relationship challenge and they rope theo and liam into doing it too. i got the challenge off some website and i was like yes. there's gonna be 31 parts in theory but they wont be super long i think. i need all the creative juices going for this one.

getting shot with an arrow had never been this fun: theo and liam are complete idiots and they manage to get impaled with the SAME arrow and are stuck together for Reasons. it's shenanigan city up in here as they navigate how to get help. the important thing is that they have fun !

the morey split: mason and corey break up (or take a break or just arent talking i havent decided yet) and its up to theo and liam to get to the bottom of this and get them back together! they are terrible at it.

I don't think its necessarily a bad thing, but yeah. My style is constantly shifting and changing

Firstly, I appreciate ALL my comments, even if it's just a tiny lil heart cos I do understand that some ppl can be anxious about interacting with writers. But I have to say, my favorite kind of comments are either the ones where the reader is threatening bodily harm on me (cos I wrote something angsty) or where they are engaging and talking about the story because YES! LET ME BRAINROT ABOUT THE BLORBOS REAL QUICK.

🦋what are you most insecure about when you post a fic? Since I'm currently only writing AruAni, I feel like making Armin smart is a really fucking hard job xD For his character development, I need him to use his stellar brains, but that means I gotta make him use his stellar brains... and... T^T yeah, I worry a lot that readers will find what ultimately happens sounds silly/not clever enough.

🌿how does creating make you feel? VERY satisfied! Incredibly so! Makes me happy to write and post and share what I've created with people :3

🍉in what ways has writing helped you process trauma and/or navigate through your own life? My fics are all a representation of things I want in my life, both the big and small. For example, in Chap 3 of VBEOW, Armin and Annie share hot chocolate in the kitchen in the early hours of the morning; that kind of comfortable intimacy and quiet shared space is something I also crave. Another example is in the very first part of the series where Annie gets Armin to cry and grieve - it's a reflection of the fact that I too want to care for someone in that kind of way. xD This is prolly TMI xD Sorry xD

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting? I believe Falling into Neptune was received better than I expected. I hadn't written anything that intense in a very long time, so I was pleasantly surprised when it got a hotter reaction than I was expecting. It made me realize I can create tension without making the characters take off their clothes -- a fact I am a bit proud of T^T Sorry.

🤍what's one fic of yours you think people didn't "get"? Hmmm. So Time Falls like Moonlight is a mammoth of a story to get through, but I put a whole lot of thematic depiction in this (it literally has 10+ scenes) and maybe it is the fact that it's very long and also that it's got a sequel already going on, so it feels like people have glossed over it. But oh well xD I'm happy with the reactions I have received :3

A fic about the relationship between Amon and his foster father Donato, with a slightly supernatural/fantasy twist, but still remains true to canon. It has very little kudos or interaction but I expected that, because people usually come to read romantic pairing fics and this is strictly a father-son fic. I still really like it though, it's probably badly written for the me of today's POV, but it's got a special place in my heart xD

Action/emotional monologue heavy fics? Maybe everything works? In which case... anything really T_T I'd be over the moon (pun intended)

💋when you leave comments on a fic, do you want to hear back from the writer? If they want to reply back, sure! Most of them do these days, tho there are fics I've left comments on recently which were written one or two years ago, and the authors are prolly busy with their lives. But I'm always happy to read their replies, no matter when that is :3!

Annie lets her eyes roam over her deflated frame. Pieck, always buoyant and carefree, now limp and lifeless, and she’s never seen her like this before.

✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)- I'll Be Your Knight. It's one of the first ones I wrote in the Steddie Stranger Things fandom and I love it. But it doesn't get as much love as the rest of my fics and I don't know why. You can also read it on AO3 if that's more your speed.

💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?- People talking about their favorite part and how much they loved it. I also have a small soft spot for the keyboard smash. ;)

🕯️was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn't think it would take you?- I had to really think about this one because I will sometimes have spots in a story that can feel like it was harder to write then rest of it. But I think the one that took me to places I never thought I would go was Oh For a Muse of Fire! I don't usually write Enemies to Lovers because I am a major softy. And it was hard keeping Eddie from doing a 180 too soon and then to make the friendship last as well. But it helped me learn how to pace a story and how different point of views can really help build a story.

🎙️which one of your fics would you like someone to make a pod-fic of?- All of them? Lol! No, in all seriousness, I would say Ser Stephan of Harring's Town because of the great back and forth between Eddie learning about Steve's hidden depths.

💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!- This is an excerpt of my soulmate AU that I really want to write but I'm not sure how to.

Eddie had been on the verge of giving up, tears streaming down his face as he fought against impossible odds. But Steve was there. And he remembered that every impossible thing he had ever thought in his life had be come possible in this one man. And he was damned if he wasn’t going to survive this too.

“I love you,” Steve whispered.

Eddie closed his eyes and whispered back. “I love you, too, Stevie.”

The bats soon realized that they couldn’t get through Eddie and turned, swirling in the sky and Eddie could feel it before it happened. They were going to attack Steve.

He pushed Steve to the ground and lifted his shield above their heads. “I’m sorry.”

“Me, too,” Steve replied.

And then all the bats dived at once.

NONE fuck no. Don’t read my fics out loud ffs PLEASE. 

🧿what steps do you take to not take things personally if a fic doesn't do well, or if your writing/posting/sharing experience isn't going how you'd like it to?

I don’t give a single fuck about my fics doing well so I do NOTHING. You can’t control what people like. That’s a lesson I learned the hard way. I posted a Gojo drabble on this blog (: did you know that? You don’t because it got 9 notes and I never touched it after that. It’s fine. It doesn’t have to do good. It’s not even on my masterlist because I just don’t care.

I write for me. If other people enjoy it, fuck yeah!! If they don’t, that’s cool! You’re silly and have no taste anyway! /lh

As for when things don’t go my way when writing? Take a break. Step away. Talk to a writer friend who might have some insight for me. Even if we are in wildly different fandoms, my writer friends are made of GOLD and will always offer feedback when I need it

📡why is writing and sharing your writing important for fandom?

For me, it’s finding people who enjoy the same things and discovering their own favorite things in return. Exchanging ideas and sharing them is what makes the fandom ecosystem work. If no one stepped up and posted their work, this place would be pretty fucking dead, don’t you think?
