I do the vast majority of my writing on a second hand Samsung S6 edge+ that I somehow managed to pick up off Ebay for the grand sum of £20 a little over a year ago. It's so old it's practically obsolete, most apps can't even be installed (including the one to top up the PAYG credit, so that's fun), but it's one of the only devices that were ever released with an option to buy the coolest phone case known to man.

I still don't understand why these weren't supremely popular, because you can clip on an actual, real life PHYSICAL KEYBOARD whenever you need it, and then just unclip it (and store it on the back of the phone) when you want to use the full screen instead, and it is the best thing ever.

I love it so much. So much. Only today it seems to have pretty much given up the ghost and I'm more than a bit devastated.

Admittedly, I think there are a few more things I can try when I have time, and I'm still holding out hope that it's not completely dead yet, but in my experience, even if I do get it back up and running, there's a fair chance it'll just keep on crashing with increasing frequency and given how likely it is that I could lose all my work if/when it does finally die, I'm not as optimistic as I'd like to be that this isn't the beginning of the end...

And yes, if I have to, I can buy a 'new' one, but I got incredibly lucky last time and paying £80+ for a used phone that's so old it's barely functional seems like daylight frickin' robbery - and I can't even be sure it'll last any longer than this one has.

This is a really good explanation for why I often find 'fade to black's so frustrating, to the point that I generally only read E rated fics (or occasionally T) in the hopes of avoiding it.

Of course, I'm not saying sex is always necessary, or that every interaction needs to be explored in explicit detail, but sexual intimacy, especially at the start of a new relationship, is such a huge part of developing that relationship, that I tend to feel like something important is missing from the narrative if that part is skipped over in its entirety.

PS. This is absolutely my personal take and I'm in no way criticising writers who choose for any number of reasons not to write explicit scenes. Hell, I've probably done it myself! I just found it interesting how much the reblogged posts spoke to me and wanted to share my two cents.

the notes on that last poll are insane there was someone who said they separate fics into "porn" and "story" and they didnt stop for a second to think that sex in and of itself might be a story??? the way some of you people trivialize sex and explicit art is fucking bonkers to me. you sound like a christian when you act like sex cheapens art or like art focusing on sex is a completely separate category from non-sexual art. explicit fics, yes even pwp (which i believe is a misnomer anyways), are telling stories and they're stories worth telling because sex is normal and healthy and deeply important to many of us. just because something gets you off doesn't mean it's cheap or meaningless. i'd argue that things that engage the viewer sexually are very meaningful because human sexuality is complex and beautiful and worth sharing and exploring. Grow up and read about the guys you like sucking eachother off

Thinking about Sebastian seeing lifeguard Chris on watch at the beach and immediately finding his mouth dry, swallowly weakly. He can't fucking believe his eyes and he doesn't even really register what he's saying as he murmurs to his friends, "I'm gonna go drown real quick, be right back."

He's gonna be given shit for that line for the rest of his life, but, hey, it's worth it to he saved by the most attractive fucking man he's ever seen in his life, right?

(Or maybe he wasn't saved and he did drown because he's pretty sure it can't be real when he's sweeped up in those strong arms, being told in the most stupidly attractive East Coast accent, "it's alright, sweetheart, I gotcha, you're okay," while he's just sputtering.)

PS. Despite his height, Steve is in fact supposed to be post-serum, but you try turning Bernadette Peters into Captain America and see how you get on!
