Song Of The Day!

Jan 19 - I am too depressed at the moment to write a paragraph about this song but I will say that Katie Gavin is one of the most beautiful songwriters I have ever come across.

Are you joking dude??? How incredible is that. It sends shivers down my spine and fills my chest with warmth. Its safe to say that 'Loose Garment' is my favourite MUNA song.

Asha Jefferies is an Australian artists based in Meanjin / Brisbane and she's one of my favs. Her upcoming debut album will be released April 12th but in the meantime you can listen to what has been released so far - I love it all :D

My Thoughts On Stan Culture

My herstory with stan culture runs deep and goes wayyyyy back to a time when I didn't even know there was such thing as being somebody's stan. Within the last few months I have been thinking about the concept as a whole and the more I try to identify with the title, the more I have realised that I don't think I've truly stanned anybody. As I meet people through social media, more specifically twitter, I come to know that I am probably one of the most normal people to ever grace that godforsaken app.

These days I find myself resonating and becoming fans of smaller artists instead of 5 Seconds Of Summer Taylor Swift and Harry Styles like I did when I was slightly younger. (I'm defs still bumpin 5SOS though, TRUST) That being said, small corners of twitter for small local-ish musicians are still as deeply unhinged and they are for anyone else.

I don't want to name the artist at the moment but her fanbase is genuinely batshit fucking crazy. A decent portion of her fans came from when she opened for 5 Seconds Of Summer, which includes myself. Sure, a lot of us were familiar with her from her youtube channel. Actually, as I'm typing this its pretty obvious who I'm talking about. Its MAY-A. She's so cool. Love her. Anyway as I was saying, the tiny corner of twitter dedicated to this lovely artist is a freaking hellscape. I have been slowly distancing myself from it, but its been a bit difficult seeing that everybody knows everybody. I wish I was kidding but I have met so many of her fans at this point that if I went to a major city I would bump into at least 3 of them.

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this. I know I'm not saying anything with much substance but I just find stan culture so interesting. If I think of anything intelligent to say, I might add to this but for now, I'm just trying my hardest not the expose a bunch of secrets I know about certain people who are fans of a certain someone (MAY-A duh)

Song Of The Day!

Jan 17 - One of my good friends, Millie, introduced me to Olive Klug's music and oh my fucking god, what a perfect artist. Its very difficult to decide on a favourite song from an artist when they have released one of the best albums you have ever heard, but at the moment its 'Parched' ! The song is from their album 'Don't You Dare Make Me Jaded' which was released on august 11th of last year, which, on an unrelated note, was a fantastic day for new music, especially in Australia. I might make a post about that date and aussie music in general. ANYWAY. Today's song of the day encapsulates the feeling of being in a discouraging, unfulfilling relationship, (or even worse, a situationship) perfectly. I highly recommend Olive's music and I have linked their tiktok and instagram accounts below! :D
