You have one super power: The ability to know without fail what the truth is to any asked question. You planned to help the world as a super hero. It took you six hours for the government to declare you public enemy number one and the most deadly super villain alive.

Adding small moments of existence to your writing
What I’m talking about is proof of life outside your characters in your world. Not in the sense of ‘talking to the cashier at the checkout’, but things like:
Graffiti etched into a desk your character sits in during an exam
Realising that someone has come along and arranged the cans on the shelf so the labels say something stupid
Dirty vans that have ‘wash me’ written in the dried mud
A coin that has been stuck into a piece of gum on a handrail
Little things that show the world still goes on despite whatever is happening to the characters.
This helps make the world a world, not just a setting. There are other people with other lives doing stupid, funny, dangerous, things that in no way impact the protagonist. You don’t have to dwell on them, they can only be mentioned briefly in passing during the set up of a scene, but it will help create life within the background of the story and give the characters a chance to briefly think about something other than themselves/their situation.

Hello! I'd like to share with you a character work game! I call it "Six Secrets" and honestly it's a work in progress but I'm sharing it anyway
List six secrets that your character has.
1 is an open secret
2 is a secret the people close to your character know
3 is a secret that your character wouldn't really care about getting out
4 is a secret exactly one person knows anything about
5 is a secret no one knows about but they sort of want to come out/to tell someone
6 is a secret no one knows and they desperately don't want anyone to know about.
You can also decide who knows and how
The secrets don't have to have anything to do with your actual plot! The secrets can have super low or super high stakes! It doesn't matter! But you will absolutely have a better idea of your character's intentions and state of mind, and you may wind up coming up with some new plot points/obstacles to play with

In May of 2012, I discovered my first dating sim, Idol Days by Pacthesis. That July, I posted my first blog post here! That led to a lifelong love and a wonderful eight years of otome and tumblr! With so many other otome blogs out there, I’ve sometimes wondered if maybe it was time to throw in the towel, but I truly love sharing stuff here. And a large part of that is because of the love and support I’ve received over the years. I can’t express just how much that has meant and continues to me to me! Thank you to everyone for an amazing eight years here! To show my appreciation, I’m doing a follower giveaway!

Putting into words what we didn’t know how to say  👏
i think villains in general provide better, more epic romances because they're allowed to go to extremes. they're allowed to put their love over the greater good. they're allowed to be selfish. the best a hero can offer you is number two, because their duty comes first. villains, though. villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye.

I don’t
I don’t try, of fear to fail.
I don’t run, of fear to fall.
I don’t write, of fear to disappoint.
Sometimes, I do things. Sometimes, I manage.
But mostly, I cave. Because I’m just so afraid.
As time moves on, and I grow still, the voice in my heart, the song in my soul, they cry from the pain… of missing it all.

Light & Dark
The water is deep, dragging me underneath.
I can’t see. I can’t hear. I can’t feel. I can’t scream.
There’s nothing but shadows, darkness, and cold.
I flail, and I fight, and I reach for the light.
It’s kind, and it’s warm, and it’s safest from all.
But it’s so far away, and I don’t know the way.
The darkness is terrible, but I know it so well. It’s part of me, and I of it.
The light is like hope, fragile and gentle, yet so unknown.
And it’s funny, it’s sad, but I’m scared of the light.
I can see it, almost reach it, but it’s as far as I can go.
I’m scared, but I want. I fight, but I’m not. I reach, but I draw. I can, but I won’t.
There’s something inside me, something the blocks. Something so deep rooted, it’s like it’s my own.
But I want it gone. I want it out. I want the light. I want to fight.
So I stand there, just out of reach. Waiting… For something to breach.

Little Red
The forest was deep, the shadows were dark, as Little Red jumped up and about.
There was not a soul in the forest, No one at all, Yet the little girl had no care in the world.
Perhaps, it was her hood; Fiery red, That made her so brave. Or perhaps it was her basket, containing goods inside, for her grandmother's bed. But alas, it was the freedom, to roam as she pleased.
At the back of her head, she heard her mother’s voice, and it said: ‘Do not stray from the path. Do not roam about. Do not drop the goods. Do not play in the woods.’
But the voice was small, and the world was vast, and everything was so bright and alive.
So, she roamed about, straying from the path.   And before long, she realized she had lost her way out.
Now the voice grew strong, and she wasn’t alone. There was something prowling in the shadows. Something big. Something dark. Something scary. Something sharp.
As the wolf drew in, and the girl drew back, she realized she should have listened to her mother’s plight. At the same time, the girl regretted it not. Because she had made her own choice, and that was more than she hoped.
So, in a fit of renewed bravery, the girl threw the basket out, drew her red cloak in, turned around… and screamed.
