FOGGY GLASSES AND CORRODED COPPER CHAPTER ONE! THE LAB ACCIDENT

Okay I was honestly planning on having this one digitally but that would take FAR too much effort and far too much time, so have my sketchbook drawings of it :]

This is the incident that really kickstarted Mist and Spark's rivalry, before that there was just petty bickering but now they both blame each other for major issues. I'll shut up now and let the drawings speak for themselves lol

Finished the shirtless Natsuko drawing! Mildly suggestive (sweaty shirtless man) but nothing explicit lol

Also made a hairless version because while I think Natsuko is pretty hairy I 1. Don't know if that's realistic, and 2. Don't know if that's everyone's cup of tea

Low-key cooking with this Dew redesign idk where it'll go but I'm excited to have some warmer colors for the h2hoes (the Mist-Rowan-Dew trio)

"I don't draw Natsuko enough", I say, about to make another drawing of him (if anyone is curious this one is kind of a redraw, I'll put the older drawing under the cut to compare them)

These ones are pretty basic portraits, but I think they're neat! The expressions served as a bit of practice but also make for some contrast between how Natsuko is during his arc vs how he is before Kanae dies and if he ever manages to process his grief

Here's the comparison! The older drawing isn't really that bad, I really like the lighting on his face, but I do think the current version is a definite improvement :3

First digital drawing I'm posting this year! Natsuko Kocho, my KnY oc that's been in the oven since 2022! (Comparison to an older drawing of his and long-ass backstory under the cut)

For reference, this is a comparison between my first drawing of him and the one at the top; as you can see, I grew a lot in art over the last couple years LMAO

TW: Depression, substance abuse/alcoholism, and murder.

Natsuko's story is not a happy one. A troubled mind since childhood, he lived his life isolated from his peers, sinking into bouts of inexplicable sadness and alcoholism as time went on.

That changed, though, once he met Kanae, a gentle soul who saved him from an attack his village suffered from a demon. The two became friends, Kanae enjoying his interest in flowers and gardening and Natsuko finding someone who didn't mind his quirks, and, eventually, love blossomed between them, the two eventually marrying each other.

A conflict arose, as Natsuko wanted his wife to be beside him, and begged her to either teach him her breathing style for him to assist her or retire from the Corps, but in her unending kindness and flawless moral compass Kanae couldn't let her lover throw himself to die, neither could she stop battling demons and saving lives.

In one fateful day, Kanae's mission seemed to be more dangerous than the ones before, so Natsuko went after her to at least assist civilians and treat her wounds. What awaited them was a cold-hearted killer, who devastated the village Kanae was protecting, and nearly took her life. Arriving in the scene too late, Natsuko, who had accompanied Kanae's sister, saw his lover's body covered in blood, the life nearly leaving her eyes.

The demon slayer looked into her loved ones' eyes, and told them the truth: she did not want either to follow in her footsteps, Shinobu should take care of the family house and Natsuko should keep to his garden. However, knowing the two wouldn't follow her commands, Kanae gave them instructions should they want to avenge her: she had left books and guides on Flower Breathing for Natsuko, and he should train along with Kanao to become a slayer, and both of them should know what her killer looked like to fight him.

Natsuko, having lost his lover, has his heart fall into an ever-expanding abyss, spending his days in the local tavern and drowning in alcohol. He tried to train to become a slayer, but his intoxicated body was far too damaged for him to develop strength, even if Flower Breathing was a natural fit for him.

After significant berating on Shinobu's part, he dedicated himself to control his mind and heart, gaining a deep understanding of Total Concentration Breathing and starting to overcome his issues, becoming a demon slayer after a few months of training and starting his journey to become stronger and, by being of significant help to the Butterfly Mansion, avenging his lover.

And that's it! This is Natsuko's story, it's really edgy, cliché, and honestly not better than the OG one, I think Kanae's bond with Shinobu and Kanao is a lot better than what I have here, but!!!! I really like Natsuko, and wish I could draw him more, so I guess it kinda balances out :P

Hello girlies boylies theylies and otherlies this is the first traditional drawing I'm going to post this year! I figured, to start things off, we could go for a minor one, so here's a redesign for the worst person in my story who I have been completely obsessed with, Fern! (previous design under the cut for comparison)

For those wondering, the main changes between the two are poofier hair, a rounder and smaller beak (closer to a canary's), a gradient in his legs, and larger wings that resemble hummingbirds' more (among other changes that mostly pertain to how my style's been changing over the last months). As per her clothing, while I did decide to have him in little clothing for this drawing, that was mostly to show his anatomy and colors more, so y'all don't have to worry if you think this style isn't fitting, he'll mostly wear the kinda stuff he's wearing in the second pic lol

"Go for it, Nakamura!" redraw, inspired by Inspiration by Azariel_22 on Ao3!

This was a tough one to make! the text formatting in the manga cover is very unique and hard to replicate properly, I had to recolor it since I thought it would look good in green and yellow as a reference to the fic (id didn't) and both of The Bois' heads are deceptively difficult to draw, Kouda more so because I had to get multiple separate angles of him, but I'm super happy with how it turned out!

So, there's this comic that I absolutely love called I Do My Bully's Homework that follows a nerd and his bully's friendship, along with their families and friends. One of the bully's friends is a bear called Taron, who I really relate to with his arc of insecurities relating to his weight. I, wanting to celebrate with comic's recent return from hiatus, doodled him on my notebook, and subsequently improved the drawing digitally, so here's Taron!
